Bakery
Takeout Restaurant
Restaurant
Bricolage Bread & Co. is a relaxed cafe and bakery located near Roppongi Hills in Tokyo, offering artisanal French bread, international snacks, and coffee. The establishment consists of a take-out bread and pastry section, a coffee counter run by Fuglen, and a cozy cafe with outdoor seating under shady sakura trees. The collaboration between a chef, baker, and coffee roaster ensures high-quality ingredients sourced directly from farmers in various regions of Japan.
An old time favorite in Roppongi. This bakery café is great for a quick carb pick-me-up or a leisurely lunch. Bricolage is quite popular so the bakery items are variable depending on demand - it's recommended to go before lunch for the best selection. This latest visit was for lunch – everything is extremely fresh and I would highly recommend the salad, fried chicken and shredded carrots. I’ve also had the Wagyu cheeseburger in the past and it was scrumptious. For my fellow travelers – if you are planning to dine-in, go to the counter to the left of the column to order food and drinks. they will hand you an electronic beeper and then you go into the next room to pick up your food when ready. You also wait for your coffee drinks in front of the coffee bar. The register to the right of the column is for to-go bakery items.

We queued for about 50 minutes, so naturally, I was expecting the food to be mind-blowingly good—something truly worth the wait. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to the hype. The overall experience felt a bit average, like something you could easily get at other Western-style cafés. Their signature dishes were decent, but nothing particularly amazing or memorable. The chicken karaage, however, was a standout—crispy, juicy, and flavorful—definitely something the Japanese do exceptionally well. The cacao drink was a bit too sour for my taste, and the dark rum coffee had only a very mild coffee flavor, which was underwhelming. The pudding is also average, and the brown sugar tastes a bit bitter... In summary, it’s a nice café, but only if there’s little to no queue. Otherwise, it feels like a bit of a letdown and not really worth such a long wait.
Ian L — Google review
This place is a bit confusing. It's hard to order pastries and then sit down and eat them. The ordering counter for meals (burgers, sandwiches) is at a different place than the ordering counter for pastries, but we wanted to eat pastries in the restaurant. It feels like decisions need to be made very quickly and there's little explanation of how that should happen properly. It's almost just 2 shops in the same building, where the pastry counter has no menu and you just have to take pictures of what's available if you need time to think. I think we waited about a half hour to order (which was reasonable). The pastries were pretty good/okay. I don't think there's enough butter in all of Japan to actually rival French pastries, so that should not be your bar if you're going here. We tried several different pastries and the best were the financiers and the sausage dog imo. That said, the cafe latte and the brown sugar dessert option were freaking phenomenal. I would definitely go back for those, but not really anything else. The burger was juicy, but mostly drowned in ketchup and too sweet.

May 2025: Visiting from the United States and stayed at the Grand Hyatt nearby. Workers are very friendly. Found this bakery that had amazing coffee and baked goods nearby. Coffee was fabulous with wonderful tasting notes 🎶. I normally add oat milk instead of cream. The restaurant had oat milk as an upgradeable option.👍 My favorite baked goods were the bread 🍞 and the raisin roll. Also tried the avocado 🥑 toast. Stayed at the hotel for six nights and this place was my go-to for coffee and breakfast. Probably stopped by for coffee, pastries and/or bread six different times. On the last day of my vacation, I tried a "pain perdu" which was so delicious. Reminds me of a french toast... And I looked up the name and it's literally french toast 😀. Aside from the delicious bread, this is my new favorite! Will definitely come back again when I am in Tokyo again!

One of the most popular bakery shop in the area, lots of people were queuing pf a seat. For take out, no need to wait. I waited for 20mins for a seat, then ordered. This is my third time here, every menu was delicious, especially the bakery. Coffee is ok. Salad and bread are the best
Chan T — Google review
Came on a Saturday morning around 11:00 am. There was already a line and the staff said it would be around a 20 minute wait for a party of 2. It ended up taking closer to 30. You order from the register and there’s separate ones for the bakery side and food. We ordered the jerk chicken bagel and the eggs Benedict toast. The toast was delicious, and the bagel was also solid. A little pricey but it’s a nice ambiance and good location if you’re around Roppongi hills. Also got a sourdough to go, which was delicious.
Sydney F — Google review
The service attitude is bad: the ordering flow was so strange, you have to walk against the flow to check the pastry section after taking the number in another entry. After waiting a while to get a table, I have to walk back to make the order AND the clerk asked me serval times if I have a seat to dine in. I showed her my number ticket and told her I already have one table, then she seemed not believing me and asked me to point out where exactly my seat was. I was traveling solo, how can I put my purse in the outside table and walk back inside to make the order?! Of course I have to carry my purse around, and that does not mean that I don’t have a seat, especially I already told her many times that I already have one seat! Back to the croissant: just average. Crispy but not airy. The dark rum latte is good.

Best bread I had opportunity to taste in Japan, loved it. Definitely will come back again. Great taste & atmosphere. Friendly and helpful staff. Thank you very much for this experience 🙏❤️

Biossa is a trendy bakery in Japan, known for being the first GFCO-certified bakery in the country. Their gluten-free baguettes are remarkably similar to traditional ones. The bakery strictly adheres to gluten-free practices and offers a variety of treats including colorful bagels and deli-style sandwiches. Additionally, they offer an extensive menu featuring loaves of bread, bagels, mini pizzas, and desserts available for take-away or delivery through Uber Eats.
It is so difficult to find gluten free options in Japan. This store has so many great options of sweet and savory. Berry and chocolate muffins, berry bread, regular bread, garlic bread. So many options!! The little cream breads with a honey glaze are ESPECIALLY delicious once they’re toasted. I will be coming here a lot.

I’m a gluten free traveler so I was very excited to see there was a gluten free bakery in Tokyo. I made a 40 min journey to it and it was so worth it. All the bread was delicious and I even got a free bun hot from the oven!! The sweet bread with the powder sugar in top was my favorite followed by the chocolate chip muffin.
Zeta H — Google review
Biossa in Tokyo is a true gem. Their pastries are absolutely excellent! As someone who is wheat-intolerant, I had never had the chance to enjoy bread this soft and delicious before. The pain perdu is my absolute favorite—rich, perfectly sweet, and comforting. The cinnamon brioche-like pastry is also incredibly tasty, and even their pizzas are full of flavor and perfectly baked. On top of that, the staff is very kind and welcoming. The prices are also very reasonable, which makes the whole experience even more enjoyable. I’ll definitely be coming back often whenever I return to Tokyo! Thank you for your work!

If you have coeliac disease it is not always easy to find something to eat. I was very happy to find this delicious bakery. Everything was very tasty and cheap! Absolute recommendation!!🥳
Secretsinskin — Google review
Best GF bakery (there’s only two other places I can think of in Tokyo and one in Paris that are on my top list)… I tried nearly everything, all of the savory items (except for the corn tuna) and the French toast (insanely good), and every single one was perfect. I cannot believe they achieved such goodness with rice flour!
TGIF — Google review
I’m from LA and not had gluten free bread this soft and delicious. The selection of bread was fantastic too. Thank you!
Danelle — Google review
Saved our trip! My son is gluten free, and Japan (largely) is not. It was very hard to find food for him, and other gluten free shops either weren’t really gluten free, or just tasted bad, had very small menus, or were closed when they said they were open. But Biossa had exactly what we needed. Good, fresh, delicious gluten free bread, muffins, baguettes, and croissants! That way we could pack and carry the breads around Tokyo, so my son could eat almost anywhere (by swapping out the provided breads with these gluten free ones). Game-changing. Thanks Biossa!

Bakery
Japanese confectionery shop
Ginza Kimuraya, the oldest bakery in Japan, has a rich history dating back to 1869 when it was founded by a samurai named Kimuraya. The bakery is renowned for inventing sakadane yeast and creating the popular anpan, a delectable combination of red bean paste and soft bread dough. Since its establishment in 1874, Kimuraya's anpan has become deeply ingrained in Japanese culture and remains immensely popular with branches nationwide.
Had lunch at their restaurant on the third floor. Food quite good - had the beef stew and roast chicken. But the highlight was definitely the free flow bread that was part of the lunch deal that they come over to offer every so often --from spinach bread to cheese bread -- all so delicious and complemented with whipped butter We also bought some baked goods from the ground floor bakery. Queue is quite intense -- famous for their red bean buns-- a little sweet for my taste but definitely really popular. They also sell many types of unique jams like hojicha jam and earl grey jam etc
Mei Y — Google review
Breads are excellent, tried both the famous red bean bun and the sesame variety. This was on a summer morning where there was a downpour outside. I wanted to grab a quick breakfast but surprisingly, was told not to eat in store after buying my breads. I was truly puzzled as the entire store was empty and I was only a handful of customers at the store. I understand if this policy should be enforced especially when the store is packed. But this policy of disallowing customers to have their buns hot when fresh, out of store is truly disappointing and one of the very rare occurrence of poor customer service that I’ve encountered in Tokyo.
Chris C — Google review
Ginza Kimuraya, founded in 1869, is Japan’s oldest bakery and the birthplace of the famous anpan sweet bun. Located in central Ginza, it still uses its traditional sake yeast recipe that gives the bread a soft, fragrant flavor. The multi-floor shop includes a bakery, café, Western grill, and French bistro. Their sakura anpan—topped with a salted cherry blossom—is a must-try. It’s a perfect stop to taste over 150 years of Tokyo baking history.
Magdalena S — Google review
Very good business. Famous for its red bean bread. Some butter Inside the bread as well. There is a big variety of breads for selection. Can come and grab some breads to go. This shop also has an afternoon tea areas on the second floor and some decent meals offered on the third floor.
Antony L — Google review
TLDR: bit pricey for dine-in, red bean buns were ok but nothing special to me We got two sets at the cafe upstairs. I got the shrimp sandwich combo and she got the red bean pastry combo. Both come with coffee or tea. The shrimp sandwich was pretty decent but nothing that stood out. The red bean pastries were also just ok, the sweetness of the red bean comes out but the bun itself wasn’t that great to me
Wilson T — Google review
Delicious bakery which will provide the perfect breakfast if you are in the area! Very polite and kind people will help you in case you have any questions! Sweet and salty - or take both! My favourite one for the moment is the „cheese danish“! Thumbs up!
Dimi R — Google review
The best red bean bread jn Tokyo. The second floor is the cafe shop and the third floor is the restaurant. The sandwiches are good too. Highly recommended
Betty L — Google review
Updated review: They used to sell a divine beef curry kare pan while it’s hot but now it’s bagged and you get a soggy one. Such disappointment they messed with one of my favourites. I’m lowering to 3 stars because of food sanitary conditions. Out of 10 times I’ve eaten here, I’ve gotten sick twice. Once was the lovely cream anpan bun in the hot summer, and this last one was the milk bread. I ate the milk bread on separate days apart and realised the culprit. So be careful. They sell lovely baked goods- another favourite are the anpans (baked buns with various fillings) in the front. I like the cream cheese, the chestnut, the classic anko red bean. The red bean doughnut was just ok- next time I will try something else. This store is always busy, côme and enjoy!

BOULANGE Shinjuku Southern Terrace is a highly recommended bakery in Shinjuku, offering impeccable quality bread and pastries. The almond croissant is particularly praised for being flaky, moist, and perfectly sweet. With a wide selection of breads and pastries, it can be difficult to choose just one. The butter chicken curry bread and mackerel sandwich are also highlighted as delicious options.
Nice cafe serving a variety of baked goods, both sweet and savory. Tried the croissant with matcha and it was prepared very well. The outside was flaky and crispy, and the interior had a sweet cream that was not too overpowering. There is shared seating with the eggslut restaurant that is within the same building. Good place for a small treat or snack
Wet S — Google review
I have been here few years ago, and I loved this location as well. However I was so sad to see this place got so small. It used to be a whole floor, but now it has shrunken to third. Breads were awesome, but not many choices because of the limited space. They offered for breads and coffee sets which coffee was 270 yen, and not bad. However I would not coming back.
M E — Google review
PSA: My rating of 2 stars is heavily influenced by the quality of coffee. Coffee: had to be the worst coffee I tasted in years, I think i witnessed the barista scooping pigeon dung into the portafilter and brewing into our cups. 0/5 Bakery: Really good!!! Most French branded bakery's in Tokyo are a notch lower in quality compared to the Japanese but this delivered!! Overall: So BOUL'ANGE, EggSlut, and Lucky's Lobsters are in one food hall, and with 2/3 of the focus being breakfast I was EXTREMELY flabbergasted at their attempt at coffee. If you are in line reading this please stop go down to by NeWoman and buy your self an amazing coffee from Verve and then return for your breakfast eats.
Sam M — Google review
I came to this bakery some 10 years back and was truly delighted to see it’s still around, although much smaller the quality of the baked goods still remain the same, while all the items are great the croissants are a must try. Crunchy on the outside yet fluffy inside, coupled with a coffee from punkto coffee (7 mins away) it’s a great way to start your day
SChan — Google review
Their chocolate pastries are the best I had. The croissants are really good and you can tell that they really mastered the art of patisserie with how fresh and delicious the pastries are. Will definitely go back and taste more of the baked goods. If you’re planning to go specifically at this branch, mind that you will have to bear the long line(s) of local and foreign people. The inside seats easily get crowded, so you’d definitely have to eat your pastry at the outside table(s), or take home.
Roui J — Google review
Pastries were superb, flaky crisps with buttery insides. Value for money as well, quality pastries for very affordable prices between 300-500 yen. There are outdoor seats but it gets pretty warm in the morning on a sunny day, indoor seats are available too but it smells greasy.
JH — Google review
Great location in Shinjuku, in the same building as Eggslut and Luke’s lobster. Not much foot traffic for the bakery as compared to the neighbors. Plenty of choices for the pastry, which looks absolutely delicious. I opted for a few of their ‘top’ choices. Would recommend the pistachio connet in particular and you can skip the milk bun. Coffee was great so probably can skip that too. You can dine in in the same shared space as the other shops.
Kenny Y — Google review
Love the croissant here, it's one of the best in Tokyo and at a reasonable price. The pastry was layered and crispy, and satisfyingly buttery on the inside. There are many varieties of croissant including a couple of chocolate versions which all tasted great. Service is reasonable and there are seating but it's mainly for the shop next door. That being said plenty of areas close by to take a seat in the fresh air.

Bagel shop
Bakery
Maruichi Bagel is a bagel specialty shop in Tokyo, inspired by the famous New York bakery 'Ess-a-Bagel.' The female owner fell in love with New York-style bagels and opened this simple setting shop. The bagels are made by letting the dough proof, boiling it, and then finishing it in the oven to achieve a crispy exterior and soft, chewy interior.
Bagels are freshly baked and there are constant customers coming in and going out. One bagel is fairly huge and chewy. Cream cheese filling is generous. There are plenty of options to consider including whole wheat and rice bagels. Limited seating and accept card. Quite a walk from Shimbashi Station.
Lily R — Google review
I stumbled upon this bagel shop after strolling around the area. Staff was very welcoming. At noon there were few customers, no line. I ordered freshly baked cinnamon and raisin bagel with raisin walnut soy cream cheese and jamon Serrano ham. They accept cash and cards. I waited for my order around 5 minutes. The place is quite small, only 5 seats available indoor. And few more seats outdoor. The bagel was huge and I almost couldn’t finish them. Everything perfectly goes together. The bagel was crisp and chewy (but not for long if you don’t finish them quick enough. I would recommend to stop by this place.

Welcoming staff and delicious bagels! Thankful it opens early compared to most food spots. I had the garlic bagel with salmon and enjoyed every bite.
Sidra C — Google review
ı am in search for a NY style 🥯 and found this shop that offers their own unique twist — literally. They’re hand-twisted into beautiful shapes, giving them a distinctive look and texture. One of the highlights for me was the germinated brown rice bagel. It’s not something you come across often, and it was surprisingly tasty — definitely more flavorful than the whole wheat option. I also tried a small plain bagel to get a sense of the base flavor, and it held up really well. I also picked up a sesame bagel— I enjoyed it with watermelon and cheese, one of my favorite summer combos, especially with sesame bagels. Their sesame bagel was gooood 🤩. The sandwiches you see in the photos are actually my own variaton, but the bagels themselves are from here — and they turned out great. If you’re open to trying a creative, local twist on the traditional bagel, this place is worth checking out!
Elif B — Google review
Such a cute bagel place hidden away! The bagels were super soft and flavoursome, and the workers were super warm and friendly. I got the everything bagel with saba salad, and a blueberry bagel with cream cheese. Both 10/10. I love that the everything bagel has chunks of rock salt baked into it 🥯

Love their bagels 🥯 BiG and warm 🤤 Came here at 11:30 and 3 out 4 bagels were still warm 😙 Surprised how BIG they are Only wish they had strawberry cream cheese !! Came here before around 1-2pm and they sold out so be careful

I’ve been a huge fan of MARUICHI BAGEL ever since they opened in Yoyogi Uehara. Their bagels always remind me of authentic NYC style bagels and the way they make their sandwiches. I’m always impressed by the quality! The staff are friendly and polite, though it might take a little time to choose your bagel they have so many great options. Highly recommended!

Cafe
Bakery
Parlour Ekoda is a charming European-style bakery and cafe that may be a bit tricky to locate, but it's definitely worth the search. The bakery offers an impressive selection of bread, including options like raisin bread and whole wheat toast. One of their specialties is the famous Ekodas shokupan, a popular square-shaped white bread that attracts customers from various places. The cozy atmosphere with wooden decor and a functioning fire stove adds to the experience.
Had an amazing breakfast at this place. Atmosphere is very inviting, everything is made of wood and there’s a fire stove which is actually used, so the place has this magnificent smoky smell. It’s also super cozy to sit by the stove and be gently warmed. Grilled vegetables sandwiches with the bread of your own choosing were ridiculously good. Spinach and ricotta cheese quiche was delicious, sun dried tomatoes were an excellent addition. Caramel cappuccino was very good.

I am French and I can tell it is Delicious - Breads are excellent they are crispy like in France and a bit burnt. They have many various breads. If is very good. We have too many brioche in France but japanese people dont like breads with sugar. Like melon cake for lunch. I think it is a very good selection . It is good that bread set. - I would like to suggestion some ideas. There are many vegetables pie in france like Onion, zukkini with feta parmesan cheese, Salmon with spinach, tuna with tomato cheddar cheese, I think japanese people would like french cakes like far breton prune, clafoutis with cherry, flan coco, baba raspberry - I know french bakers work in your bakery- Marc is a expert to bake bread ..🥖 It is always crowded maybe we can add some tables outside or build more space in the future 🤞. You are doing well Congrats

We were looking for a nice place to have lunch and this beautiful little bakery came out. I ordered a croque madam and the bread was outstanding! My boyfriend had a ham panino and he said the same about the bread. I had an iced tea and it was very nice and refreshing. The ambience was relaxing and the decor was rustic. It felt very intimate and cozy. Definitely recommend it if you're in the area!

Levain is a charming cafe and bakery located in Shibuya's Tomigaya district, offering a blend of Japanese and western-style baked goods in a cozy rustic setting. Since the 1980s, this establishment has been at the forefront of Tokyo's artisanal bread scene, specializing in wild-yeast leavened bread made from organic ingredients with at least 25 percent whole-wheat flour.
Beautiful little bakery. It is cash only, so be prepared. As foreigners we didn't realize we could not eat outside, but they were so lovely and kind to us and directed us to a park. The brown rice quiche is amazing!!!!

I was looking at a “best bakeries of Tokyo” list and this place came up, so went to try it out. It’s truly outstanding from the small sample I had and I’m certainly going back to try new things. I went with the cashew and cherry bread which was served warm and they slice it for you, asking how big of a piece you want (they charge by the gram). It was soooooo good. And then I got the cheese bread which I ate later and it was probably the best one I’ve had. The service was great and they even have a little cafe attached where you can sit and enjoy a beverage with your bread. Highly recommend.
Alright R — Google review
I was totally disappointed after trying their breads and croissant. And it’s extremely expensive. Mind you, I bake my own sourdough at home but the breads and croissants here were simply hard and dry. We threw them away in the end. There are tons of great bakeries in Tokyo, and I would definitely not recommend this to you folks here. The shop closes on Mon & Tue, and the cafe starts at 11am.

Loooove their bread. But cash only. They accept only HachiPay which has a limited coverage compared to PayPay or others.

Not very cheap but very tasty and good quality baked products. Place you want to come back. It is good that they have an option of a half size french toast because even half portion is rather bib. But if you are still hungry, you can try other bread goods too.

Very cute little Boulangerie. Felt very homey, like you were visiting a friend’s place to pick up some baked goods. I tried the vegan banana bread and it was fantastic. Staff were very friendly too. Cash only.

Love their sourdough. Unfortunately once I had a bit rude service, but other times it felt like a community store and staff was so happy when two customers connected and shared contacts. Cash only here! I look forward to trying their restaurant next door.

Some of the best sourdough I’ve ever had. Fresh out of the oven and absolutely fantastic flavor. Everything else was delicious as well but the sourdough is the star.

Beaver Bread is a cozy bakery located in Higashi Nihonbashi, offering a variety of homemade pastries and artisanal bread. Despite its small size, the bakery boasts an abundant selection of Japanese-inspired treats such as melonpan, naporipan, ciabatta, caneles, and chunky sausage subs. The consistent queue outside the bakery attests to the high quality of its offerings. Visitors are recommended to arrive early to have their pick from the diverse selection.
Very great bakery, highly recommended trying their freshly baked walnut bread rolls. They have attention to detail and really make all their baked goods with lots of love and care. You can pick up your rolls and sweets with some tongs and put them on your tablet. Afterwards you go to the checkout with the selection. Went to this bakery twice when I was in Tokyo. Was amazing!

Overall, it's just satisfactory, but it's not worth the long wait in my opinion, especially if you're not nearby. Traveling specifically for this shop might not be that worth it. The quality of the bread can be inconsistent, depending on which type you choose. I visited twice and bought 6 pieces in total. 1 of them (ie the jalapeno one) is very good , another 3 are just okay. 3 of them are quite disappointing in my opinion including the cake, the mentaiko (めんたいこ) one and the pistachio one.

Incredible bakery. The smell brings you right in! Everything tasted fresh and handmade with care. The croissants and red bean bread were especially good — flaky, buttery, and worth the line. One of those small places that just nails quality.

I regret only one thing - that we found this place that late and that we cannot repeat the visit. The place is very cute and offers a great variety of snacks. We selected 5 different ones and all of them were just perfect. I strongly recommend!!!!

Loved the spicy nut scone. The heat left a great taste. A bit on the drier side, best warmed up to moisten it I think. The sourdough and white bread were good, white bread especially - dense and with a firm bite, great for sandwiches. Deifnitely want to toast both. Cornbread is savory, would be perfect with more butter or some sweet spread. Cornbread and the not overly sweet scone seem worth going out of the way for. Also a bunch of other good looking things here even at 4pm. Also really nice looking pricy jams, I'll have to try in the future!

March, 2023 If you're in the mood for delicious bread, Beaver Bread in Higashi Nihonbashi is a great option. The bakery is small, cozy, and has a friendly atmosphere that will make you feel right at home. The bakery offers an impressive variety of bread, ranging from classic red bean buns to unique and inventive large campagnes. March, 2023 The quality of the bread is exceptional, with each loaf and bun baked to perfection using high-quality ingredients and traditional techniques. Located just a short walk from Hiroo Station in Tokyo, Bartizan Bread Factory is a small but stylish bakery that specializes in European-style sourdough bread. Their signature "Bartizan Sourdough" is made using only flour, water, and salt, with domestically sourced ingredients. The bakery takes pride in offering healthier alternatives to traditional processed bread, with options free from artificial ingredients, trans-fats, and sugar.
I missed a good bread in my 3 weeks in Japan, so I searched for a good bakery and this was simply the best. The bread was delicious, crust was perfect, texture was perfect and the butter&olive oil are good quality. Wouldn’t necessarily recommend the coffee, but if you’re not picky, could work. Staff is great and they have a diverse choice of baked products.

I came here because they sell sourdough bread and I’ve been on a mission to find the best in Tokyo. They have several sourdough options which was a nice touch, with a whole host of other breads to choose from. I got the baguette sliced plus just a regular sourdough bread slice, which was a bit unique and worth trying. Both were delicious and I’d go back for not only those but for the other varieties as well. Staff were great and service fast.

My first time buying sour bread in Tokyo. I came all the way from Adachi because of the good reviews. I haven't eaten them yet, and i plan to freeze some. However i had the blueberry cream cheese for dine in. It was really fulfilling and one is enough for me. The older male staff was really kind. Really good atmosphere and service. Only cashless!

Definitely one of the best bakeries in the area, and with amazing service. The choice is not as large as larger bakeries- which to me is a good thing. They specialize in rye breads and sourdough and they excel at it. The hot sandwiches using their ciabatta is excellent. The blueberry cream cheese was my favorite.

As a Google reviewer I count on Google review to identify new restaurants and places to visit especially while travelling. This bakery has a 4.8 Google review that’s very reassuring. As it is not close to subway station, I took a 40-min walk from my hotel. This bakery is truly a hidden gem. Decoration of the bakery is very pretty and offers a very comforting ambiance. Great music. All bakery are pre-packed for easy selection with name tags to indicate the ingredients. Some variety of the bread offer half or even quarter size! They are very soft and fresh. The store has some seatings to allow eat in. Staff are very friendly and patient to allow me to take photos. I bought a few items and they offer me three big slices of sour dough bread for free! They definitely live up to the 5 stars rating! Highly recommend.

This place deserves 5 stars. It’s really clean inside. You feel so welcomed. The morning staff especially is always helpful and pleasant. They play nice music. I usually arrive 7:55 am and I know they open at 8:00 am but she would let me in. I come here before going to work. Their bread is really delicious and I think it’s now my favorite bread shop in Tokyo. I’m sure that I’ll continue supporting them. Thank you for the delicious bread.

Kandagawa Bakery is a hidden gem located in a quiet residential neighborhood near Waseda. Despite its unassuming appearance, this bakery attracts locals and visitors alike with its freshly baked goods, including sweet and savory breads featuring ingredients like raisins, matcha, red bean paste, and cheese. The bakery's seasonal sourdough loaves and rustic breads are particularly popular, known for their dark crust and earthy taste.
It seems to be a very popular bakery so I had to check it out. We got an anko salty bread and soy milk campagne bread. The first one was good but the soy milk bread took me by surprise. Such a nice chewy texture and an amazing taste. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED it! I was also surprised that it was relatively not that expensive.

A very nice storefront on a quiet street was a perfect place for mid-afternoon snack. Friendly staff made great recommendations. Most importantly, the bread was fantastic!

Okay, this place is the real deal. Went there about 3 pm on a Sunday in June. It is a window ordering place with maybe two small tables and chairs if you want to eat there. The prices are on the higher end. Around 350 yen for each baked good. I guess the price does not deter the loyal customers. While this may not rise to the level of ambrosia, it is definitely top-tier. It is near a university and may also attract college students. Anyhow, worth a visit as you can't go wrong.
David Y — Google review
Truly delicious bites! Discovered this place when walking along the Kanda River and searching for a snack. Bacon roll, bacon epi bread, and cream cheese raisin mini pain de campagne. All were excellent, I wished I'd bought more for tomorrow's breakfast. For good, fresh, handmade breads the price is really good as well, about 250 yen per piece. Good luck finding that around Shibuya or Shinjuku.

Boul'Ange is a popular bakery in Tokyo known for its delicious housemade bread, croissants, cakes, and baguettes. It has become a staple in the city's bread scene, offering a good selection of mostly French-style bread such as baguettes, bread rolls, croissants, and open sandwich types. Unlike other Japanese-style bakeries, Boul'Ange sells authentic and freshly baked on-site breads multiple times throughout the day.
Wonderful produce from this bakery. We bought a baguette for breakfast and two croissants: an almond and raspberry one. Would definitely recommend the almond croissant and baguette.
Alexandria — Google review
We tried the pistachio cornet and chocolate cornet. Definitely try the pistachio cornet cause it was amazing. I still think about that pistachio cornet. Just melt in your mouth and has a crunchy exterior that is not overly sweet. If I could come back, I would come slightly hungry and try more desserts from this place.
Helen T — Google review
The almond kouign amann was so good, like a hybrid cookie. Would highly recommend this place. It’s in the food show area, among other baked goods. There weren’t that many options when I went around 5-6pm.
K H — Google review
After a big sushi set meal, I was craving something sweet and crunchy, so we swung by this small bakery to check out the selections. The milk cornet, their #2 seller, was extraordinary, with a divine crunch to the pastry where you can feel every layer as you bite down. The light and sweet filling was quite firm, so it held its own against the formidable exterior. The raspberry croffle was similarly excellent, with a chewy pastry texture and a sparkling, juicy filling - it looked like a culinary treasure and tasted like one as well. Special mention to the service, as the shop attendants were very kind and joyous, making the food even easier to love.

This bakery does an exceptional pastry called the Pistachio Cornet. It's a horn shaped buttery and flaky puff pastry chock full of luscious pistachio cream. The magnificent crunch and creamy pistachio filling made for quite a delightful experience. Highly recommend texture junkies with a sweet tooth to give it a shot.

Perfect for your morning pastries and coffee, reasonably priced. There is some nice seating inside, select your pastries and order your coffee, sit and enjoy. Location-wise this is situated opposite Shibuya crossing and Shibuya JR station - super convenient. There is a wide selection of pastries, breads & cakes available - my family ate here approx 4-5 times when travelling in Japan, I stayed at the hotel above the ‘food-show’. We preferred eating here instead of the hotel breakfast ( mainly because I feel they are over-priced and the kids don’t eat huge breakfast’s). We also found it cheaper. For a family of 4 (2 adults / 2 kids) we would spend approx 3200 yen (approx $33) for a selection of 7-8 pastries to share, 2 mango juices for the kids and 2 coffees for the adults - I reckon that’s pretty good value when compared to 7000 yen for the hotel breakfast)
Graeme M — Google review
Visit this place 3 times. Very friendly staff and great experience. Fantastic pastry. I am very impress when the staff bring out freshly baked pastry. He remove the old ones and put the fresh one. He took the old pastry to the back kitchen to throw. That is pretty impressive. What typical bakery do is they will put the old pastry in front and fresh pastry at the rear. So as to sell the old pastry first. Really a must visit when you go shibuya.

Asakusa Kagetsudō is a renowned bakery in Asakusa, Tokyo, known for its delectable creme-filled "melonpan" sweet buns and traditional Japanese confections. The establishment has been serving these delightful treats since 1945 and is famous for sparking the specialty "Asakusa melon bread." Additionally, visitors can savor ice cream and shaved ice with various toppings at this cozy venue.
If you love melon and bread, this is a bakery you definitely shouldn’t miss when visiting Asakusa. Start by trying their plain melon pan, then go for the one with ice cream. The outside is crispy, while the inside is soft and fluffy — it’s delicious on its own, but even better when you try it with ice cream inside. It’s one of those fun and tasty experiences you really have to try. The prices are affordable, and even though the line can be long, they serve customers quickly so the wait isn’t too bad.
Andro C — Google review
Creamy, Crispy, Cash only! Do note that they only accept cash. Jokes aside I really like the warm bun served with the cold fillings, I quite liked the vanilla cream one instead of the ice cream fillings as they tend to melt quite fast and it gets messy to eat. They have a strict policy of only eating within a designated area so do note!
Benedict L — Google review
just walking NEAR this stall front is heaven for melon pan/pineapple bun lovers — the sweet, signature, sugary aroma of the bread entices everyone walking by. compared to pineapple buns, i found that the melon pan was much softer and floppier/limper(?) than a pineapple bun. as well as that, the top was crispier/crunchier than a typical pineapple bun’s, which is usually very crumbly. i loved how the matcha ice cream wasn’t too sweet at all, with its perfectly bitter notes of green tea complementing the sugary top of the melon pan. the soft serve was also extremely creamy, and the coolness of the ice cream contrasted well with the warm, fresh, fluffiness of the bun. although it didn’t completely blow me away, and i think i still prefer pineapple buns, this was extremely satisfying and filling. also don’t be intimidated by the line, it moves EXTREMELY quick, since a lot of people are just getting the melon pans and not the ice cream (although you might have to wait a bit if you want ice cream, since they do it one by one and it’s quite slow).
Katelynn C — Google review
Tried the matcha flavored melon bread. There was a short queue but it moved very fast so there was no wait. The bread was fresh warm out of the oven and super crispy. It was a nice contrast to the colder matcha ice cream. A bit pricey but the bread was quite big and I miss eating this.
YQ L — Google review
Fantastic bread shop. Melon bread was large and had plenty of different filling options to choose from. We chose the Matcha and Whipped cream filling options. Also grabbed some for the trip home and just to snack on random days of our trip. 300y for a plain bread, and something like 600-800y for other filling options. Popular place and wait times were short despite having a long wait line.
Hei S — Google review
We ordered one normal Melon bread and one with matcha ice cream. Both tasted really good, especially the one with ice cream, because the bread itself is quite dry inside, so the ice cream makes it taste more moist plus you will have some of the matcha flavour as well. Definitely one of the better ones I had in Japan if you also have a sweet tooth like me 😜🍦
D. C — Google review
This is a must try and highly recommended if you are going to do a food crawl along Asakusa area or just looking for a light snack. The bread has a crunchy outer layer with the right amount of sweetness. Then the inside is light and airy which is contrast to its exterior. You can have it as is or with soft serve icecream in its center. There will be another queue if you opt for the latter.
Miguel M — Google review
Little line however well worth the wait! The best melon pan I have eaten. It was warm and crispy, paired well with the matcha icecream.

Gluten Free T’s Kitchen is a haven for those seeking gluten-free and allergen-friendly dining options. The entire menu is completely gluten-free, with additional offerings that cater to nut, dairy, egg, and soy allergies as well as vegan preferences. Inspired by a childhood surrounded by exceptional cooking and a desire to provide more gluten-free choices after experiencing limited options in Japan compared to the U.S.
As a coeliac travelling Japan, this restaurant was a true gem! We had the most delicious gluten free meal and I was so happy to be able to try traditional Japanese food but GF! It was a great atmosphere, well priced and my family loved it too despite not being gluten free. Thank you T’s Kitchen, I hope to come back soon ❤️ Also best pop in to make a reservation before hand. We went in 2 hours prior to when we wanted to eat and they accommodated us fantastically.

Absolutely LOVED the food- especially the fried chicken! I went with two non-celiac individuals and they couldn’t tell the difference between the gluten free foods and the gluten foods they’ve been eating throughout Japan! I am a newly diagnosed celiac and still learning how to manage but I had absolutely NO reactions and loved my experience- also there were other celiac individuals there who were so nice to talk to. Highly recommend!
Tabitha F — Google review
First, you should know this place is quaint. There are 11-13 bar seats and 4 tables; 2 that seat 4, and 2 that seat 2. I say this first because it can get loud, depending on your table mates. We sat next to a table of 2 very loud talkers and it negatively affected our overall experience. This has nothing to do with the food or service, which were both amazing. If you don't enjoy small or loud spaces, consider ordering your meal to go. A cold, gluten-free beer after walking around the city in the August heat was so refreshing. The service was fantastic. Our waitress was very attentive and accommodating. The food was amazing. I haven't had tempura vegetables or dumplings since I went gluten free 7 years ago and it was seriously worth the wait. The fried chicken was to die for. I also ordered a bowl of chicken ramen. It wasn't the best I've ever had, but still yummy. This is a must-stop for anyone who is gluten free!

So thankful to have this place. As someone with celiac disease I was terrified about eating in Japan. Le Pain Quotidien is a rustic-chic bakery and cafe chain that offers classic light fare and organic breads. Founded in Belgium in 1990, the brand has expanded to over 200 locations worldwide, including three in Tokyo. The founder's commitment to high-quality, ordinary bread made from organic stone-ground flour is evident in their menu, which includes hard-to-find bread types such as Walnut or Rye Sourdough.
The brunch plate was well balanced and was delicious. The staff were friendly and were seated right away. I’d say the only complaint was being seated really close to another table despite having other openings; I felt like we were eating with the couple next to us.

They have to learn what a Croque Monsieur is when they put it on the menu with no pictures. To charge 2000¥ for this is a joke. The service is getting worse. The sizes smaller. I would not advise it anymore as it is overpriced and kins of a joke a food.

Hugely Disappointed! Le Pain serving stale, day old croissants - at full price. Never before @ Le Pain worldwide experience this. This is Tokyo … where fresh, expected! Very friendly service but shocked by a tasteless, stale croissant. Unacceptable . Please, be honest with customer: Day Old _ 1/2 Price” Or don’t sell.

The best bread in Tokyo. They also have very authentic pain au chocolat. I had a tartine with chicken, mushrooms and Gruyere. The hot chocolate was also good, thick and dark, but the quantity was deplorable - it comes with a cup of milk into which you re supposed to pour the chocolate, but there is at least 6 times as much milk then the chocolate.

Centre The Bakery, located in the bustling Ginza area near Tokyo Station, is a popular spot known for its coveted shokupan loaves. Managed by VIRON, this bakery specializes in sandwich bread and offers three types of breads for purchase. The Kakushoku-pan made with Hokkaido flour is particularly beloved for its soft and chewy texture. Visitors can also indulge in the springy Puru Man and crispy Igirisu Pan loaves.
There are two line ups, one is for take out and the other is for dine in. Make sure you line up at the right spot because I didn’t 😣. I ordered the 3 toast with jam and butter. It cost a whopping 2000¥. How good can toast be? I was so skeptical at first but let me tell you, it was amazing. They only had two types of bread first thing in the morning, NA and JP which is North American and Japan respectively. You get to pick a toaster to toast your bread and the server told me to toast the NA bread and eat the JP bread as is. I always like my bread toasted but I have to say the JP bread untoasted was my favourite! I would pay another 2000¥ to eat it again! It was so soft, fluffy and the edges were crispy. They gave me 3 types of high quality butter and 4 different types of jam, white chocolate and honey. I ate everything with a big smile. Only problem was that I ordered 2 toast jam/butter set and I wanted to try the cheese toast too but my server said it was too much food. So I changed my order to 3 toast jam/butter set. I think he underestimated how much I could eat. It does give me a reason to go back though. Give this place a try it’s definitely delicious.

And my family and I always takes a loaf of bread home on the last day of our trip! The cheese toast and French toast is always sold out when we come 🥹 so you should go earlier!! My personal favourite is the fruit sandwich!! The shrimp inside the shrimp sandwich is always fresh and bouncy! The milk there is great too!

Tried this place out on a weekend at noon and had no wait. There is some charm in picking out the toaster for the table. The toast set was good with the different butters and jams they provide. We ordered their seasonal fruit sando which happened to be shine muscat grapes which was quite tasty. The price is a bit high for what you get but it's definitely an experience worth trying once.

What a lovely breakfast spot! You can choose from different types of toast and even get your own toaster at the table to make it just the way you like. The bread was super fresh I had the Japanese bread, which didn’t need toasting, and it was amazing. We also tried the cheese toast, which was delicious. The different butters and jams were so good too. We loved it !

As someone who lived in Japan for nine years, I found the dine-in experience here to be below average. I speak fluent Japanese, and from the moment we walked in, I sensed that the staff lacked genuine warmth and professionalism. The fit-out was also very basic — it felt cheap and didn’t live up to the brand’s image. The shokupan and jam set were certainly enjoyable, but again, the overall setup felt underwhelming. The table was also too small to comfortably accommodate everything. The French toast was far too sweet — I couldn’t even manage a second bite. Overall, I would highly recommend purchasing the shokupan for takeaway (this can be done next door), rather than dining in.

Centre The Bakery in Ginza only sells shokupan (Japanese milk bread), and it’s kind of a big deal. They’re known for letting you toast the bread yourself at the table using your choice of toaster. I skipped the DIY and decided to buy a loaf to bring back home instead—toast at home, same vibes! But I also couldn’t resist ordering the French toast… which showed up massive and had me questioning my life choices 😅 Still, it was insanely good—soft, buttery bread that melts in your mouth, paired with cold ice cream. I didn’t finish it, but no regrets.

Their cafe was decent but the French toast is another level !!! It is probably one of the best French toast that I’ve ever had😭😭😭 We went there on a weekday in the late afternoon and there’re no line. Would def recommend this place after a long day of shopping around GINZA:)

Brasserie Viron Marunouchi is a charming French bistro that boasts a traditional ambiance and an adjacent bakery. The restaurant is celebrated for its exquisite French delicacies like foie gras and escargot, while the bakery offers an array of freshly baked bread, sandwiches, and pastries. With locations in Shibuya and Marunouchi, this boulangerie takes pride in importing flour from France to create its renowned signature baguette.
Had a delicious weekday lunch at Cafe Viron in Maranouchi. Ordered the lunch special fish and meat, it came with refillable baguette. It was around 5000 yen for two people weekday lunch but you can get a cheaper a la carte. The food came very quickly which was great because we had to wait a while in line. Just be aware, you need to write your name on the list, the line is not the order of people, so we had to wait a little longer than people who arrived after us. The dishes were filling and had great flavor dispersed through the mashed potato that the protein lay upon, and the creamy sauce that surrounded it. Will come back.

Very good food with appropriate portions. I read a review there is a long wait for food to come, but I think ours came in around 5 minutes or even less. Staff did well too, no issues.

We waited for 1 hour to be seated on a weekday afternoon. Not quite sure what the hype is about. Service is probably the worst we’ve had in Japan so far. One of the waiters gave us the look when we were taking our time to order. Very limited options for vegetarians, and a minimum order of two appetizers is required if you’re a vegetarian. So we had to get an extra baguette for the table which we weren’t able to finish. For the dessert we got a Mont Blanc and a strawberry dessert. Find them mediocre and overpriced.
Iris C — Google review
The croissant was good but Iwas a bit disappointed with their nicoise sandwich. It was basically a potato sandwich (I don’t even remember they put potatos in pan pagnat). No tuna or olive oil whatsoever. Maybe I got unlucky, but I thought it was a safe option given it’s a French bakery and the abundance of tuna here in Japan.

I came here for a friend’s birthday dinner. I reserved dinner for us and I asked if they could make desert for her but it was on that day so I couldn’t. Food was really good. They gave us explanations of menu, like where it came from and good with wine etc... when we ordered deserts (mine was parfait and hers was gâteau chocolat ), who expected?? They brought her decorated cake for her birthday!!! We’re surprised and she looked happy. The service was great, I would love to come here again!! Next time I’ll come here with my mom :)

Went there for dinner about one month ago. Located in one of the top commercial buildings at Marunouchi, it is very close to Tokyo Station. It is very convenient for a tourist, especially if you stay in this area. Layout is like a typical French bistro with its own bakery. Staff can communicate in English. Service was good. Quality of food was nice and price was reasonable. On the date of my visit, a Wednesday evening, it was full. It was well patronised by locals. I think the apple pie was an excellent choice to end the dinner. Will consider a revisit if I am in the area.
Thomas C — Google review
Too many people so need to wait for a long time. Maybe shop some breads to go will be a better idea, the food in the restaurant was just fine not as we expect that good but still can try their food when you have free time .
Aki Y — Google review
I stumbled upon a charming little spot with all the trappings of a French café, so I popped in to pick up a baguette. The ambiance was spot-on, but the staff were less reminiscent of any Parisian boulangerie I’ve ever visited, and more of a masterclass in aloof snobbery. I asked—quite simply—if they carried anything like a spelt or ancient grain loaf. This sent them scurrying to the kitchen, only to return and deliver a monologue entirely unrelated to my question, reciting their limited knowledge with the fervour of a man defending his dissertation. By the end, I was thoroughly exhausted by the performance and made a discreet exit before they embarked on the history of yeast. •••••••••••••• As for the baguette itself—surely the point of the whole excursion—it turned out to be aggressively salted. Quite unsuitable for demi-sel butter, and entirely unworkable for any sandwich containing so much as a whisper of seasoning. One might say it was a loaf with trust issues. •••••••••••••••

Pelican is a modest, long-standing bakery that has been operating since 1942, known for its simple yet delicious offerings of white bread and rolls. Despite its limited menu, the bakery sells an impressive number of loaves and rolls due to their exceptional quality. The white bread is particularly renowned for its slightly crusty exterior and soft interior, making it a versatile choice for various pairings such as homemade chicken curry.
Last year, I also visited a Pelican cafe and had toasted toast. This year, I went to buy bread. I wanted to buy the smallest piece (500 yen) since it was a solo trip, but the only piece of bread I could buy was 1.5 pounds (750 yen). I had no choice but to buy the 1.5 pounds, but it's a shame I can't get the bigger one anymore. As soon as I got back to Korea, After that, I baked bread without adding anything, and made toast by soaking up eggs. All are wonderful. I only have three pieces left in the fridge, which is heartbreaking.

the shokupan with ham katsu was surprisingly good and so was toast with butter. as they make each serving by table, you'll have to wait awhile even after ordering.

Nice beard. Need to make a reservation for more options. Simple but good bread.
C C — Google review
There are 3 types of loaf pans: 3斤, 2斤, and mountain shaped. 3斤 is the softest, 2斤 is more chewy, and mountain shaped has the crispy shell. Pelican also has those little ones in bag, which all share same texture. In terms of taste, there’s no different. So, here’s my way to toast the 3斤 loaf bread. Instead of slicing it nicely with bread knife, tear it with hand in large pieces. Then toast it for 2 minutes. Edges will be slightly cured, depend on sizes. Because of the high density, after toasting, the mix texture of chewy and crispy is just beautiful.

Bread, Espresso & is a popular spot in Tokyo's vibrant Omotesando district, known for its bread-based dishes and espresso drinks. With 16 branches across Tokyo and even a couple in Kyoto, this place has made a name for itself. While it's not just about the coffee here, the bread is definitely something special. From simple toasted shokupan to French toast and egg sandwiches, they've got it all.
Really enjoyed the French toast and honey! Great atmosphere and very nice staff. The bonus is that it’s open early which was great, as we struggled finding restaurants that open before 10am. I would 110% come back! The coffee was delicious as well 🙂
Angie H — Google review
Very disappointed with this cafe. Went for lunch today after reading good review about their artisan bakeries. However the waiter served our scone (the last one left) to another customer by mistake (and it’s really weird to see a customer eating something that she didn’t order). We ordered nicoise sandwich which was very dry and the bread didn’t taste artisan at all. Ice coffee was ok. When paying the bill, the cashier tried to charge for the scone despite the fact that the waiter had wrote a note that the order was cancelled. After going to many cafes in Tokyo, I observed that neighborhood cafe seems to have bother better service and food. I think this cafe is more for tourists.
Nurfitrahm — Google review
Without a doubt- the quality of the bread and pastries is very high! Most of the breads we tried were excellent; especially the sesame cheese boule and the black chilli dog which was very surprising. The service is a bit lackluster and took forever. It took almost 10 minutes for them to just heat up the breads we picked up- I don’t know why it should take so much time. Also servers looked confused and overwhelmed. But the quality is great and the vibe of the neighborhood is so fun. Price is not cheap but you might say that the quality is worth it. I think it’s a great place to pick up and eat somewhere else.

So pleasantly surprised! The breakfast set was delicious, very good bread and REAL French butter, and nice salad too. Great coffee. Friendly staff, open early. Glad I finally tried it.
Vivian M — Google review
The food was good, and coffee as well. However, the service is very inefficient. We arrived and wrote our names in the board, to be seated either inside or outside. There were empty tables outside and everyone else wanted to be seated inside. But since no one from the café actually checked outside for almost 30 minutes, we were waiting anyway.
Malena U — Google review
Super cool and casual! The french toast was soft and flavorful. It needed no syrup but they provide honey just in case. The interior is a retro style so it’s pretty fun.

Excellent patisserie with great espresso! Well worth a visit. Outstanding croissant and good breakfast sets. Get the panini or pastry on the way out for later - you won’t regret it.
Natasha B — Google review
Felt the staff is racist. I wrote my name and waited in the out side seating area as the cafe was full. Somehow they allowed a Japanese lady while she was writing her name. When I asked, they said wait for the next availability while there was a table seat available. If this happened to a Japanese customer the treatment would be different. Then I left and found a better cozy restaurant just 1 min walk away named Racines Aoyama . Highly recommend that restaurant.

Located near Yoyogi Park and the Meiji Shrine, this photogenic cafe has gained local fame for its appearance in TV shows and magazines, making it a popular spot for Instagram-worthy photos. The bakery prides itself on handcrafting each item with domestically sourced ingredients.

Charming shop with a beautifully arranged selection of bread and pastries. The display is inviting, and the variety of options makes it hard to choose. The staff was friendly, spoke English, and offered helpful recommendations, including their bestselling Croccan, the delicious apple crumble, and a soft, flavorful bread made with Hokkaido milk. The space is a little tight when it gets crowded. If you're in the area and love quality baked goods, definitely worth a visit.

Went here about noon on a Thursday in mid-June. I probably missed rush hour as it was not packed, but a few patrons were about. One of the counter people spoke English well and made it easy to order. They also provided ice packs for the cheesecake as the weather as already war. Nice selection of baked goods. A little spendy but comparable to other mid-range bakeries.

A beautiful bakery store next to Yoyogi Park, with fresh baked delicious bread and pastries. I tried many things there, chocolate bun, cheese bun, cannelle, all amazing good quality and delicious.
J.Y — Google review
This bakery is excellent, with many different kinds of bread. There quality is wonderful and they are very attentive to all details, but they need to put signs in English on their products as it’s written only in Japanese and there are many foreigners in this area. Also instead of taking what you like into a tray they have you tell the staff what u want and they put it for you, which makes service very slow in my opinion…
Matan K — Google review
Fantastic little bakery! Delicious pastries - I had a cheese, ham & asparagus croissant that was delicate, flaky and delicious. Their cold brew coffee is smooth and refreshing. I also like the little gift section where they sell various condiments, coffee beans etc. Staff are very friendly too. Would highly recommend a visit!

Cafe de l'Ambre, located in Tokyo's Ginza neighborhood, is a renowned kissaten that has been serving exceptional coffee since 1948. This vintage establishment exudes an old-world charm with its dark wood-paneled interior and vintage china and champagne glasses. The menu features a wide selection of single-origin beans for drip coffees as well as other brewing styles, cold coffees, cocktails, and unique concoctions.
We wanted to get a quick coffee before heading to the airport. Good thing we didn't opt for those convenience store coffee as this place caught my attention due to its very small and cozy nook type of ambience. I'm glad we tried them out. Coffee was good, served in a small cup. It's a bar type of place but serving coffee only. This is really to our liking since we're avid coffee drinkers.

A very traditional coffee shop, yet full of warmth and human touch. Truly worthy of being called the “God of Coffee” — people keep coming in and out nonstop. The coffee has a truly unique and delicious flavor, unlike anything I’ve ever had elsewhere. The staff are warm and hospitable, and the service is excellent. I make sure to visit every time I come to Tokyo. Highly recommended!

I have to admit, even though I ordered the regular coffee, it is the best coffee I had. My wife ordered the queen amber and it was also very good. I am not sure if I'll ever drink such good coffe anywhere else. If I return to Japan, I will definitely come here again.

I find the 10yr Ethiopian coffee tastes nice (but expensive - maybe due to Ginza location). Personally I do not prefer the second drink (with cream on top). It’s a bit too sweet. One thing I do not like - I ordered whole bean coffee 100g and the staff first measure it over 100g so he used hand to take out some beans. Should be small spoon instead for good hygiene.

I had a really unpleasant experience with the staff, particularly the older lady, who was extremely aggressive. It was easily my worst experience in Japan so far. The coffee was alright but nothing special, and the matcha was awful for me. They wouldn’t make it without sugar and even laughed when I asked, which I found very rude. The apple pie was just so-so. I won’t be going back.

This place was truly incredible. The food was as good as it looked, which is rare! We got the cheese scones, chili eggs on toast, ricotta pancakes, and Hakuna Latte. Every single item delivered. I would eat here time and time again!

A Taste of New Zealand in Tokyo at Iki Espresso On our last day in Tokyo, we made time for one final café stop—and Iki Espresso was the perfect choice. Inspired by New Zealand café culture, this spot delivered a relaxing, stylish atmosphere and a brunch menu that was both creative and satisfying. We ordered the roasted broccoli with hummus, and it was a standout dish. The portion was generous, the broccoli was perfectly charred, and the hummus was smooth and well-seasoned. Simple, healthy, and packed with flavour. The matcha hotcakes were equally impressive—fluffy, warm, and beautifully plated with just the right amount of sweetness. The coffee here also deserves a mention. Smooth, strong, and expertly brewed, it’s clear that the baristas take their craft seriously. The café has a bright, minimalist interior with plenty of natural light, making it an ideal space to unwind, especially on a slower-paced final day. Iki Espresso feels like a slice of New Zealand right in the heart of Tokyo. Whether you’re after a satisfying brunch or just a quality cup of coffee, this is a spot well worth visiting. We’re glad we squeezed it in before heading home.

Delicious food! As a kiwi I can say the food here is very authentic and potentially bit better than a lot of NZ cafe food. Coffee was great too. The fact that they have Mince on toast on the menu means someone has really done their research on kiwi cuisine 😅 It’s a bit expensive by Japanese standards but the food is worth it. (And to be honest it’s still cheaper than it would be in NZ) Highly recommend. Made my partner and I a bit homesick 🥹

It is located near Harajuku Station. When you enter the place, it smells amazing. I tried the cookies in salted caramel, fudge, and cranberries white chocolate, and they all tasted so good! (sadly, they didn't have all the cookie flavors when I visited). Would definitely come back to try other items on the menu, like milkshakes and cookie dough. Edit: tried their vanilla and chocolate shakes as well. They were slightly less sweet than I prefer, and I couldn't really taste the vanilla in it. However, a unique thing is they use tapioca starch straws which are edible, although a bit on the hard side and flavorless. The shakes themselves were quite filling. One recommendation is for them to offer lid covers for takeaway, as this would be very convenient.

For a cafe that is wildly busy and popular, this cafe really does not feel like it's in the middle of Shibuya. There's no minimum spending or waiters who want you to leave asap. I came in here after a whole day of walking and left feeling recharged. The coffee was good and the pudding was yummy. Oh and the cafe was absolutely stunning.

It’s quite out of the way, and I thought to brave the summer heat with my family to experience this place as recommended by a few places. Not the friendliest place to go to as a foreigner. Very rude customer service, even when comparing it to non Japanese standards. It’s probably better that they hung a “no foreigners/no non Japanese speakers” sign instead. The coffee isn’t great. I tried Kilimanjaro and their original blend. The chiffon cakes were normal. It’s just interesting to watch someone doing a pour over if you sat the counter. Also the staff has no qualms about hitting your arms to tell you to move away or tell you to shut up. It’s a coffee shop not a library. This isn’t a hidden gem. It’s a hidden disappointment, and should stay hidden from everyone.

One of three Kissaten style cafes I visited on my first trip to Tokyo and they had the best cheesecake! It was light yet rich and what I wish Uncle Tetsu tasted like back in the US. They sold out of chiffon cake so I hope to go back and try that one day. They do offer an English menu and I found service to be friendly to foreigners. It’s not the coziest Kissaten I visited but I still enjoyed the vibes and decor. Great place to stop by for a coffee and pastry break away from the crowds of Shibuya. Cash only.

Coffee is expensive here, but more than just good drip coffee, you get to see the smartly dressed baristas brewing each cup - it's like a dance; you get to enjoy the coffee in exquisite porcelain cups and unique teaspoons; you get to experience kissaten in Japan. The chiffon cake is also very good - soft & fluffy yet retains a bounce. A must visit for coffee lovers; but if you are just looking for a hit of caffeine, there are alternatives that offer you a faster, more affordable option. English menu available.

Honestly love the atmosphere in this cafe. Really quaint. Food was great too though it's on the pricier side. On weekdays, the queue moves fast but on the weekends the queue can be quite long. Chiffon cake was soft and fluffy and a big piece too. The most popular flavour is maple chiffon. Open face sandwich was good too. Coffee has a pretty roasted aroma. My friend really like it. Do note this place is cash only and you're not allowed to film or take photos of the counter where the staff are working at.

A place that doesn’t feel like it’s in the middle of shibuya. English menu available upon request. All the china is beautiful and adds to the experience. It’s a good place to come to alone and read a book at the counter. The pumpkin pudding is amazing. Maple chiffon cake was recommended by the server and it was also delicious. Even though it was light and fluffy, it’s a rather large piece so I feel like you get your moneys worth. The first time I went I didn’t see a sign about no pictures. Second time I was at the other end of the counter and saw the sign so be aware. The young woman working was kind, but the older people were neither friendly nor rude. Anytime I’m in Tokyo I’ll come back here for the coffee, dessert, and atmosphere.

FACTORY is a beloved bakery known for its artisan breads, pastries, and simple menu of quiches. The bread is particularly exceptional, with a soft and enjoyable texture that keeps customers coming back for more. The cafe area offers a comfortable and cozy vibe with a cute interior, making it an inviting place to enjoy a meal. Customers also praise the flavorful soup of the day and sausage roll, which pair perfectly with the freshly baked bread.
One of the best bakeries I've been to in Tokyo! Each slice of bread was delicious and the lunch plate was so filling! The biggest quiche I've ever had and the flavour was on point. The photogenic atmosphere was cozy and welcoming as well. I highly recommend shopping before you leave as well! Bread, cookies and granola were delicious. I literally wanted to buy everything in the store. It's a bit of a walk from the station but well worth it! The short distance from the station means a relaxing and quiet atmosphere which is a rare find in Tokyo. Definitely recommend!

Very friendly. Consistently good taste and excellent quality since over two decades, during which my wife and I used to go there to this “Factory” on a daily basis as neighbors living very close. Our special favorite then was their “Pain de campagne”. BTW, we happened to see a YouTube video clip posted just a few days ago by a YouTuber “Kikkake” and its title was “Three consecutive holidays to make a leisurely breakfast. A happy time spent with warm soup and bread. daily life, breakfast.” To our surprise, at around 6:20-23, we noticed the following subtitles“Buns from a bakery called FACTORY in Kudanshita Tokyo, which is a bit far (for me). Nonetheless, I go there to buy it, because it’s so delicious !”

One of my favourite bakeries for so many reasons. Let's start with the bread. The. Bread. I love bread, and this bread is exceptional. So incredibly soft and enjoyable to eat, I could eat it all day. The Cafe area has a comfortable and somewhat cosy vibe. A very cute interior. I also got the soup of the day and sausage in a roll. The soup was so flavoursome and I ate it with the bread that I was served upon sitting down. I got some bagels to take away, sweet and savoury. The texture was perfect, a little bit chewy and dense, but still soft. The service was fantastic and staff were friendly and inviting.

This bread shop provides nice lunch options. Today, Cuban sandwich & quiche plate were on the menu, it comes with free refill of mixed bread (campagne, bagel, baguette) which is very satisfying

Cute, industrial design, little bakery. They have a solid, carbs-heavy breakfast for 750¥. Lunch is also quite nice, with a selection of either soup+sandwich or quiche/pizza+salad. The staff is very nice as well.

Lunch plate is "okay" (very typical Japanese style). The morning set and baked goods though are excellent. Especially try the french toast. Summary: go in the morning...or takeaway breads and toast at home!

No.4 is a trendy bakery cafe located in Chiyoda-ku, just a short walk from Ichigaya Station. It offers a variety of wood-fired pizzas, classic pastries, salads, and coffee in a modern setting with both indoor and outdoor seating. While the sourdough bread is highly praised, some have found it disappointing due to its soft crust after being displayed for some time. The restaurant is part of the same group that operates TY Harbor Brewery & Crista.
I’m pretty sure I put this place on my list because they sell sourdough bread, which isn’t readily available in Tokyo. I went in the evening and got right in, but most of the bread selection was gone by that time. So I’ll definitely be back. But what I did stay for was the brioche french toast and it was outstanding. It’s a repeat item for sure. The space is also cool, and feels a bit rustic. Service was fast and friendly.

No. 4 Café may look like an unassuming single level building in the bustling city of Tokyo, but it was already crowded even on a Monday morning at 9am. When I arrived, I took a queue number and noticed that there were already 6 groups ahead of me. Since I was dining alone, I selected the option to sit anywhere, including outdoors. It did not take long before a waiter guided me to an outdoor seat. Orders were placed conveniently by scanning a QR code. I ordered the French Toast Combo Set together with a cup of iced Americano. The food was served within 15 minutes and looked absolutely fantastic. The French toast came with a variety of sides, which allowed me to mix and match different ingredients to create unique flavour combinations with each bite. Overall, it was a hearty breakfast that was both delicious and beautifully presented. This is definitely a café that should not be missed if you are in Tokyo.

We got here around 8:30am and put our names on the list. It was about a 35 minute wait. When we got seated, they did have an English menu so really easy ordering process, and our server was so sweet. I ended up getting a coffee and though I do not remember the name, I remember it was delicious. For the main show I got the French toast breakfast it came with a fried egg and this whipped butter that was to die for!

The French toast is moist, and the seasoning is not overly sweet at all. Both the bread and the dipping sauce are delicious. I highly recommend the brunch here ✨
Harry C — Google review
This café offered a very pleasant experience overall. I had a warm café latte, which was creamy, rich, and perfectly balanced. The portion was generous, and it had a deep, satisfying coffee flavor that made it a great start to the meal. For food, I ordered the homemade Caesar salad, which was prepared in a slightly unique style. It was not a standard Caesar salad, but it was very well executed. The lettuce was crisp and fresh, the dressing had a rich and tangy flavor, and the parmesan tied everything together beautifully. The croutons were crunchy and added a lovely texture. It was a refreshing and flavorful salad, and I would definitely recommend trying it when visiting the café. The second dish I had was a falafel plate served with flatbread, vegetables, and sauce. The falafel was slightly dry but still flavorful, and it had a nice spice mix. The grilled vegetables, especially the mushrooms and beetroot, were excellent and added great depth to the plate. The flatbread paired well with everything, and the sauce in the middle was the highlight. It was creamy, rich, and complemented the dish perfectly. The combination of all elements worked very well together, even if the falafel could have been a bit moister. The service was outstanding. The café is very well organized with a modern system. You order online using a QR code at your table, and for seating you get a waiting ticket from an iPad. The staff works quickly, efficiently, and with great coordination. Everyone seemed focused and genuinely dedicated to their work, which gave the place a very professional but friendly atmosphere. The ambiance was charming and comfortable, with a warm and relaxed feeling. The space was nicely designed and felt welcoming. Overall, this café offers great food, excellent service, and a pleasant environment.

Worth the Wait? Stepping into the bustling heart of Tokyo, we found ourselves drawn to a highly-raved bakery cafe, a spot promising artisanal delights. The aroma of freshly baked bread wafted through the air, a tantalizing invitation that, unfortunately, came with a significant caveat: a 1.5-hour wait. Yes, you read that right – ninety minutes spent anticipating our brunch (originally breakfast). Once seated, the experience took a turn for the visually spectacular. From the delicate pastries adorned with fresh berries to the meticulously arranged savory toasts, it was clear that the chefs here possess an incredible eye for detail, turning simple ingredients into Instagram-worthy masterpieces. However, when it came to the actual taste, our expectations, perhaps inflated by the long wait and the visual feast, were met with a more moderate reality. The food was, in a word, "alright." While certainly not bad, it didn't quite reach the heights of culinary excellence that the presentation suggested. The flavors were pleasant, but lacked that distinctive "wow" factor that would justify such a lengthy queue. Adding to this, I couldn't help but feel that the prices leaned towards the higher side for what was offered. While Tokyo is known for its premium dining experiences, the slight disconnect between the "alright" taste and the "beautifully presented, slightly overpriced" tag left me pondering the overall value. The Verdict: If you're someone who prioritizes aesthetics and doesn't mind a considerable wait for a picturesque meal, this bakery cafe might just be your cup of tea (or coffee!). The ambiance is charming, and the food is undeniably photogenic. However, if your primary goal is an unforgettable culinary experience that justifies both the wait and the price tag, you might find yourself, like us, leaving with a feeling of "it was good, but..."

Maybe the best French toast in Japan 🥰 Been coming years now They got super soft and fluffy French test from their brioche bread baked on site Doesn’t even need syrup! Just solo or with the butter They do have a seasonal French toast that changes monthly. Be warned ‼️ this place went viral on social media so expect a LONG wait. Especially on weekends. Waited 2-3 hours in past. Ngl this is main reason I don’t come often 🤣 Thankfully they’ve added a ticketing system No line usually before closing. Last order is at 8:30pm Place can be pretty noisy btw 10/8 update came for 🎃 pumpkin French toast. Was great but know they’ve raised prices a bit 🫠

Bakery
TOLO PAN TOKYO is a well-known bakery led by Shinji Tanaka, an experienced baker with a passion for creating a wide variety of baked goods using 13 different types of flour. The bakery offers around 100 diverse items daily, blending French and Japanese-European flavors. The croissants are particularly recommended for their unique texture and buttery flavor. Customers also praise the cinnamon rolls and shio bread.
Bought pan au chocolat, scone, and the pastry with anko (on the pic). The last one is my fav, but others were delicious too. Great bakery that I found just by accident, now can’t wait to try something more!

Literally the best croissants I've ever eaten. I also had a matcha scone, which was equally incredible. But I'm going to focus this review on the croissants. This place always has a long line. It has a great reputation and it deserves it. Yesterday, I walked by in the late afternoon, just before they closed. No line, but only a few items left. I went in and bought some stuff. I ordered a plain croissant and a chocolate one. I didn't eat the chocolate one until the next morning, and it was still the best chocolate croissant I've ever had, even a day old. Yes, I've eaten croissants in Paris. These are better. They do everything that's amazing about how they make them in France, but leveled up. The exterior was delicate and flaky; it looks like it's going to be too crispy, like a hard crunch. But it's not, it's perfect. You bite through the crisp, buttery exoskeleton into layered, doughy, chewy deliciousness. It has the buoyant and tender mouth-feel of good high-hydration sourdough, but in thin laminated sheets. The butter coats your mouth. Then, there's just enough salt to enrich all the flavors. When I write a croissant review, I expect to talk about how one thing is featured. I might write something like, "this croissant is all about showing off high quality butter fat" or "nothing distracts from the perfect layered pastry dough." In this case, I can't. Everything is exceptional and emphasized in equal measure. You taste each component of a croissant, one after the other, like that flavor-changing candy in Willy Wonka. Finally, you'll meditate on the sum of parts, living in croissant bliss. I wish I bought more. I will go back. And I'm willing to wait in line, now. It's that good.

I had my best croissant so far in Tokyo. It may seem a bit over-baked for some, but it was really gorgeous. It was still hot when I had it. So crispy on the outside and you can smell it was made with real butter, which isn't the case in all the bakeries here in Tokyo. You can't imagine how happy I was when I finally had a real croissant after visiting quite a few bakeries here. The price is 390en but considering its size and quality material, it was really a good deal. I wish I could try other bread but I was full after one croissant. I will definitely come back! By the way, I don't recommend the donuts. At 420en and nothing special, not quite a good deal.

This might be the biggest croissant I had ever tried. It's a mixure of crunchy and chewy texture. I got full just eat one because of its buttery flavor. Setagaya baguette is also very unique which is spreading with goose butter outside and that makes aromatic savory. I highly recommend! :))

Really good bakery, with lots of delicious options to choose from. The staff are wonderful and sometimes gift you with a sample of a baked good when you buy something! Tolo Pan offers great service and even though it’s a small bakery, it has a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. I feel lucky to have found this place! In this picture I’ve uploaded, I used cheese on a slice of brown bread from a loaf I bought at Tolo Pan on the right hand side. On the left hand side, I have the curry pan (curry filled bread) which in my opinion, is the best curry pan I’ve ever tried! And it’s not too spicy in my opinion. You *might* be able to ask for a tester if you’re not sure about the spice level. Enjoy! @fashionmode

Fuglen Asakusa is a trendy café located in the heart of Asakusa, Tokyo. It's the second branch of the Norwegian coffee brand and offers a spacious seating area with modern Scandinavian furniture and minimal decor. The menu features single-origin coffee, cocktails, Norwegian waffles with various toppings like smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, as well as baked goods. In the evenings, visitors can enjoy craft beer and cocktails at this hip Scandinavian-style café.
Heard of its name and visited the ASAKUSA shop - the coffee is decent and the Waffle also good. What’s more is the spice and deco - really enjoy the atmosphere. Only minus is - it’s too popular and too many people - finding seats when dine-in could be challenging with the crowds - we waited a bit but eventually got a table.

Unfortunately quite disappointed with our visit today. Latte was basically just milk (I only got single shot of coffee but that is usually more than sufficient). Also ordered cinnamon bun which had clearly been made many hours previous as it was stale, it did not merit having its full price tag of ¥650…. Also ordered coffee soft serve ice cream which did not really taste of anything. Staff and atmosphere had no faults in our experience. What a shame over all though.
Andrew B — Google review
Stylish café in the middle of Asakusa spot. Great coffee and delicious dishes, especially the waffles and the bread dishes. I went there at least three times, always great. The only downsize is that is very popular, also with tourists, and it may be challenging to find a seat.
Massimo “ — Google review
Not sure why there is a line out the door? Very mediocre coffee. Pictured is their hot latte. No attempt at art or anything they just pour it into the cup as quickly as possible to move you through the line. It’s more the consistency of a cappuccino with too much foam for a latte. Big bubbles, no micro foam, no soul or passion in the making of this drink. Seek elsewhere for good coffee.

Great coffee in Asakusa right by Sensoji. There will most likely be a line unless you get there a little before opening time, but worth a little wait nonetheless. Can recommend the daily brew or the Americano. Both are excellent! Worth a stop.

Stopped in here for a coffee and a snack after visiting Senso ji temple. Purchased a coffee and was told that because I took it to go. I could not drink it there. Unfortunately I also had to purchase one item per person to be able to stop and down. The employee was very nice about it but still inconvenient. However, the coffee itself was actually delicious and the ambience was very nice.

Overrated spot with an extremely long line at opening. There’s very limited seating and the wait is not worth it. The food looks nice but is underwhelming in taste, and the coffee is just average. The music was so loud, i could not hear my own thoughts. And like i said we went for an early morning coffee, talk about killing the mood of a nice cup of coffee and a quick bite to eat. Not a place I would return to.

We were not impressed. There was a queue at the entrance so we thought it would be good. We waited for 20 minutes for our waffles, by which time we had finished our coffee. They forgot the sausages on mine and the amount of chocolate on my friends waffle was abysmal. The actual waffles are quite stodgy

Sunday Bake Shop is a small bakery known for its scones, homemade jams, and famous carrot cake. Originally only open on Sundays, the shop now operates three days a week with the widest selection available on Sundays. Visitors can enjoy specialty coffee and delicious treats like scones with tea cream, sausage rolls, lemon pound cake, and cat-shaped shortbreads.
Truly enjoyed this cafe and the experience here. It has been on my list for a while, but every time I came by it was super crowded. This time I got right in and I’m happy I did. I got a drip coffee which was good. There was a plethora of sweets and breads to choose from, but I was drawn to the carrot cake. It’s something I’ve had occasionally in Tokyo but most are too dry. This was more of a carrot cake muffin, but they nailed the taste. I highly recommend trying it, and make sure to check this place out. The staff were great as well.

Their pastries are really good—it’s one of my favorite bakeshops in Tokyo. They switch up their offerings often, which keeps things interesting, but their brownies are a constant standout. Honestly, probably the best I’ve had in Japan.

Don’t let the name fool you - they are open multiple days of the week! :) Which is a good thing, as this is a wonderful little bakery where you can see the magic happen. Really nice vibe to the place. There’s a lot of cakes on offer, of course. Japanese style. Plus coffee, tea and soft drinks. Not a lot of place to sit though, and it seems popular, so don’t expect to find a seat. When I visited there were a bunch of people waiting outside. They have a rather large staff, considering the size of the place, and none spoke English. Still managed to come away with a raspberry cake that was really good. Also got a muffin, and while tasty, it was a bit too greasy for me. Prices were decent. So, well worth a visit if you are in the neighborhood.

A bit unfortunate that there were not much baked goods today. They only have muffin available. So we had something with cherry and cream cheese. Taste good. Had Didimo Guzman (Colombia) filter coffee. Overall coffee and muffin are just ok. Somehow coffee tasted blend after eating muffin. Am not sure why though. The place don’t seem to be welcoming neither. Will not come here again. Not worth neither price nor the taste and experience.

The Melonpan Factory is a must-visit for melon pan enthusiasts. Despite its name, this Japanese bakery's specialty doesn't actually contain melons; it's named after the fruit due to its appearance. The shop offers around 6-7 different types of melon pan daily, including options like chocolate and milk tea flavors. While the location may be a bit out of the way for some, visitors rave about the quick and easy service and recommend trying their croissants as well.

(Translated by Google) I've been there many times because I can eat delicious sweet potato pie for only 100 yen, but the attitude of the female staff is the worst. The male owner who was there when I went there before? The clerk? He was a very friendly person, which was nice, but he was gone every time. Is it normal to not be able to say "thank you" at the end? By the way, even if you go there at 10 o'clock, they only sell one type of melon bread. Sweet potato pie seems to be ready at 12 o'clock, so it's late and I won't come unless I'm nearby. I like sweet potato pie because it's cost-effective and tastes great. I'm hesitant to go there because the staff's attitude is terrible.

Located on the lively Hiroo Dori, TRUFFLE Bakery stands out with its eye-catching brick exterior and the enticing aroma of truffle that lingers in the air. The bakery specializes in a variety of truffle-infused delights, including their popular truffle egg sandwich. Despite its popularity, the bakery is worth the wait, offering an array of delectable pastries such as the salt truffle bread and cream-filled shokupan bread.
Cardamom bun and cinnamon bun is a must! Really delicious. Really high prices but also very delicious- so from time to time I have to go there.

This bakery has very good bread, that’s for sure. I bought their best seller - salt butter roll. It was great. Cardamom bread was mediocre- it needs a little something more to it.

- Spinach Tartine (¥398): I had to eat this cold, so it could have tasted better, but it was still very good. The cheese was melted well, and the bread was soft with a crunchy crust. - White Truffle Salt Bread (¥278): I can see why this is the number one seller. The bread was so soft and airy, and the truffle taste was magnificent. Would get again.

A must-visit for anyone who loves fresh bread and pastries with a gourmet twist. The moment you walk in, you are greeted by the rich aroma of truffle, which is the star ingredient in many of their creations. Their signature truffle salt bread is incredible, soft and fluffy inside with a crisp crust and a deep, earthy flavor from the truffle oil and salt. I also tried the truffle egg sandwich, which was creamy, fragrant, and absolutely delicious. Everything is beautifully presented, and you can tell a lot of care goes into each item. It is hard to leave without wanting to try one of everything, so come hungry.

My favourite would be the Salt Bread of White Truffle because you could really taste the truffle flavour and it was nicely salted too! Truffle flavour was lacking in the Egg Sandwich with Black Truffle but it was still very enjoyable as the eggs were pretty fresh. The Bean Paste Butter Sandwich (Version 2.0) was another gem because the baguette was so crispy! Absolutely loved the combi of red bean and butter too — so good. TLDR: Please do yourself a favour and visit this bakery if you can! Must orders for me are the Salt Bread of White Truffle and Bean Paste Butter Sandwich (Version 2.0). Instagram/TikTok: @smolbelly

The ‘Salt bread of white truffle’ deserves a perfect score of 10 out of 10. The bread’s texture is remarkably soft and fluffy, and the harmonious blend of salt and truffle creates a delightful flavor. I couldn’t resist and ordered six of them, which my wife and I promptly devoured. I highly recommend trying it; you won’t be disappointed.

"The Little BAKERY Tokyo" is a charming vintage-style bakery located in Shibuya, which has recently relocated to a new spot alongside Good Town Donuts. The bakery is known for its vibrant and oversized doughnuts available in both vegan and non-vegan varieties. In addition to the popular vegan chocolate chip walnut cookie and the vegan classic glazed donut, they offer an array of other treats.
The sweets and selections are very reminiscent of American style baking. It was a very nice place to stop and give in to my sweet tooth. We had the brownie, carrot cake, maple bacon donut, canele, and some ice cream. The staff were very nice and very on top of things. Despite there being quite a lot of people, we only had to wait for a table for about 10 minutes. As it's a smaller place, so it can get a bit noisy but not enough that you can't talk with and hear others you are with. I would recommend stopping by if you have the time!
Bethany M — Google review
Staff was very friendly and spoke some English. The donuts were delicious and they had vegan options! The grilled cheese was good and came with a side of potatoes (although they called them French fries lol). The cafe gave a very rustic look and was very cute. You can get your own water and there's a bathroom available. Not wheelchair accessible.

Didn’t realised it was right beside Menchirashi😆 Almost no wait for us, lucky us, cause the next customer had to wait for dine-in spots😅 but they are really fast with the clean ups so new seats are available soon. We ordered a milk tea, very bland and a little bitter, not my usual milk tea. But I soon know why because their doughnuts are super sweet😥 Ordered the maple and bacon doughnut and a grilled cheese sandwich. There’s bacon there but, i tasted more of the maple syrup rather than anything else. It’s like the whole doughnut had been soaked in maple syrup. It’s WAY too sweet. The grilled cheese sandwich ended up to be our favourite! Will definitely grab a grilled cheese sandwich to-go the next time I’m in the area!
Meow O — Google review
Came for the pumpkin pie and although the crust was not how I prefer it, the flavor was what my American heart was missing. I also wanted to try the chai…unfortunately it was too milky for me. I also tried some doughnuts and I loved the variety and more fluffy texture. It reminded me of the mom and pop doughnut shops from back home. Also had a panini sandwich…was meh. But I definitely want to go back and try more!

Little Bakery, huge flavor! Flaky, buttery croissants + a perfect cappuccino = morning made. Their croissants are insanely good. Hands down the best I’ve had in my life. A must-try spot!

I know I am not allowed, but I say it is 3.5 stars for unfriendly staffs. We went to The Little Bakery Tokyo for some afternoon desserts. It was a popular spot as expected. The inside is a bit on a small side, as it is a cafe and not a restaurant. They had lots of American stuff as decoration, as they say this cafe is American-inspired. There is a large table in the middle, with their food offerings, pies, etc. The customers have to go around the table the long way, finally getting to the ordering and cashier. Next to the ordering counter is a window case filled with doughnuts, made by Good Town Doughnuts, who is a sister company to The Little Bakery Tokyo. When you are ordering and paying for your food, they ask you if you want to eat-in or to-go. This is the only way you get a table (if available). Now, the staffs were not very polite nor super nice, which was said by some customers from the past. The seating area is small, with a handful of tables and counter seating as well. We ordered three donuts, and Oat Milk Latte to go with them. Their doughnuts looks really good, and a nice large size, as they call “American size” doughnuts. The first doughnut of choice was California Strawberry Lemonade Doughnut. Really nice flavor of strawberry and lemonade, super tasty! The second one was Van Houten Chocolate Crunch Doughnut. Now, I don’t know if this is made with actual Van Houten chocolate, or they just like using American names, like “California” strawberry lemonade… Regardless, it was chocolate-y, and I enjoyed the texture of the chocolate crunch. Last but not least, Kyoto Uji Matcha Doughnut. It had a real matcha flavor, a bit bitter, mixed with sweet white chocolate to have the perfect balance of bitterness and sweetness. We had a nice dessert time here. We enjoyed all the doughnuts. Great flavor and large size, sure to fill you up. The latte was quite good too, rich and aromatic.
Foodlover G — Google review
In the beating heart of tweener Tokyo, lies a helping of good ol’ baked Americana. The Little Bakery has been a popular stop for out-of-town Nihonjins and overseas tourists alike. An American/English style bakery offering the Marvel vs Capcom 2 selection screen of classic baked items from every Betty Crocker’s catalogue that you never got around to baking. The best part about this being a pastiche in Japan is the price point. Sure, it’s more on the premium side for Japanese typical bakery prices — but versus the boom of these type of treats happening in the west, it’s an absolute steal. 3 doughnuts, 3 cookies, 2 slices of pie and a coffee for about $36 AUD. That’s the cost of 1.75 sandwiches in Australia right now or maybe 3ish croissants. Yep. Listen, I understand it’s not scalable. But akin to everything else in Japanese consumerist culture, everything in balance. These treats are enjoyed in spurts and are a totally affordable luxury/nostalgia as a result. Little Bakery, big feelings of joy.
Mike Y — Google review
We found this place by chance when we were waiting for a restaurant next door and was a really good surprise! The pastries look stunning and a lot of variety, you can pick them yourself, pay at the counter and eat seated. We went twice in different days and got the canelle, cheesecake, brownie, pan au chocolat. Everything was reeeeally good (but the brownie). 1st time we went there we didn’t interact almost with the staff so didn’t notice anything, but the 2nd day it was a bit more crowded and the staff was not really nice. Reading the comments I understand it is a common issue to the place

Kopikalyan is a trendy cafe originating from Indonesia, known for its regional coffee beans and traditional drink selections. The cafe's first overseas branch in Tokyo offers Indonesian coffee beans to the city's caffeine enthusiasts. With a prime location in Harajuku, the spacious cafe features pastel-accented interiors and directly sourced arabica beans processed at Kopikalyan's roastery in Indonesia.
Loved the iced Kopikalyan. Been to this place to dine 3 times during my stay in Tokyo in April 2025. The cakes and fries are very good & delicious 😋 The atmosphere and ambience of the shop is chill and relaxing 😌 Hopefully they have it more in other parts of South-East Asia too beside Indonesia
Muzhafar S — Google review
They specialized in Indonesian coffee. The coffee had a rich, deep aroma with earthy undertones characteristic of Indonesian beans. It delivered a clean cup with a medium body and low acidity. The warm, round black cup enhanced the experience with its comforting weight in the hand. The ice cream was a simple yet delightful pairing, creamy vanilla with a smooth texture and just the right amount of sweetness. It was served with a touch of crumble and crisp wafer for extra contrast in texture, making it a nice dessert option😍

Hidden in plain sight just a short walk from the busy Omotesando shopping streets, Kopikalyan is an Indonesian coffee chain bringing its unique flavors to Tokyo. The café has a clean, modern vibe and can get quite busy on weekends, so we recommend stopping by on a weekday if you want a calmer experience. The drinks were solid, but what really impressed us was the food. We tried their chicken sandwich, which had a wonderful curry flavor, and for the first time, we had tempeh—paired with mayonnaise, it worked surprisingly well. They also sell some original goods here if you’re looking to take something home. The staff wasn’t particularly friendly, but it wasn’t enough to dampen the overall experience. If you’re curious about trying a new coffee chain with roots outside Japan, Kopikalyan Omotesando is worth adding to your café list.

Cool, comfortable place, quick service, and great coffee. What more could you ask for? For me, it would be Indonesian coffee beans. The beans they bring have unique flavours you might not find in other specialty coffee shops. Try the Argopuro beans, with a grape-like, slightly acidic start and a long, sweet aftertaste.

It is a good place to hang out, espescially in the morning, not many people go there You can choose the place wherewver you are convinience. The place has a good vibes, which comfy when you spend your time chitchat with your partner or friends. It excellent place for that.. However, in lunch time or after 4pm, it is difficult to have a place inside, sometimes you could wait for long hour. The place also has a nice and clean bathroom with good prayer room for moslem. The food needs to be improved; the coffee is just good, there is no added value inside or something delicious, and the toast with ice cream is plain. It is something that needs to be upgraded. But the good thing is that all food is halal. I asked the maid twice, and they replied, “Of course, we are halal.” The maid also could speak english. So it is convenient to request something from the store. It is a good place in the middle of crowded Shibuya. I hope they become better day by day.q

Moomin Bakery & Cafe Tokyo Dome City LaQua is a charming spot that offers a cozy atmosphere with large plush Moomin trolls and Nordic-style light meals. The cafe's menu features Moomin-themed pastries, Finnish rye breads, stacks of pancakes, and adorable Moomin omurice. It's a popular destination for fans of the Finnish television show 'The Moomins,' as it brings the beloved characters to life in a family-friendly setting.
I will just start by saying that anything that you order here is delicious. The menu has pictures and is available in English. One side of the cafe is a restaurant and the otherside is a bakery and gift store. The restaurant is one that specializes in helping cure loneliness. People are sitted with different large plush Moomin characters. The characters are rotated during your meal so you can sit with multiple plush. I had the beef stew and my husband had the hamburger steak. I also got a salad with a citrus dressing. Everything was wonderful. We have been back to grab pastries and breads. Which is perfect for a late night snack or breakfast the next day.

A unique bakery & coffee shop of childish sense. Dedicated to the Finnish toy-story of Moomintroll, the ambience transfers you in the fairy-house of the moomins. Happy and smiling staff. This bakery is super cute! First, select your pastries and go up to the counter to order your drink and pay. Some sears may be reserved but you can choose anywhere else that is open. There are huge stuffed Moomin characters sitting all over and the staff moves them around during your visit so everyone has a chance to say hi. The space is decorated with Moomin things, which is to be expected, and has some memorabilia from the author.

I looked forward to going here my entire trip and I suppose I was so excited there was no way I could be disappointed. I went for breakfast not knowing that ordering food/lunch only starts at 11 (I would’ve gone then if I knew) regardless I got an assortment of pastries and their cute latte w latte art for ¥1500. I wasn’t seated with a Moomin unfortunately and I was too nervous to ask about it but the servers were very kind and nice and even gave me a small treat while there. The gift shop has the standard Japanese Moomin merch and I bought an assortment of things in order to get the 2019 anniversary pin~ if you really enjoy Moomin I don’t think you’ll have a bad time here

(Translated by Google) I think it just happened that the clerk at the store when I went there was... When I went to the cash register, the customer service was clearly troublesome, they didn't say anything unless I told them, and the customer service was clearly different from other staff members (the drink orders received by other staff members were slightly different), etc. I was told that it would take a while and then the drink was brought to my seat, but in my case, I was not told anything about how long it would take, and my drink was served at the counter without me knowing if it was okay to wait. It was to the point where if you didn't want to serve customers, you shouldn't have come out. I'm not trying to say anything because I'm a customer, but they didn't ask me if I wanted to eat it or take it home, so when I told them I'd like to eat it, they just silently transferred it to a tray for the store. Yes, but I would like you to respond to anything. I don't know her name, so I hope the other staff members don't lie to me, but the person who served me was a woman who seemed to be elderly. It's Saturday afternoon, daytime. I don't usually talk about customer service, but it was so bad that I had to post about it. Patisserie
Heritier patisserie in downtown Tokyo offers a vibrant array of colorful macarons, opulent gateaux, pastries, and delicate chocolates at their sleek cafe. This establishment stands out as one of the few truly delectable cake and cafe destinations in the area. The desserts are not overly sweet or fatty, but instead boast a rich flavor that is sure to satisfy even the most discerning sweet tooth.
One of a few ”really tasty" cake/cáfe places I have encountered in downtown Tokyo. Not so sweet or fatty but has a firm flavour to well satisfy anyone with sweet tooth. Having a lunch set there in the back gave me some exotic feelings during the treat, 1000~1250yen prices were not cheap, though, it is truly one great shop.

Brian L — Google review
I visited the store on 25th December. I wanted to sit and relax after a long train ride. The store had seating for approximately 12 persons downstairs and there appeared to be seating on an upper floor. When I told the cashier I wanted to eat in, she looked around and told me there was no available space and suggested I get take out. It was then that I realised that the upstairs area was closed off. As I looked around, there was a guy sitting alone on his phone, taking up 2 tables, that could actually accommodate four people. There were also two ladies sitting adjacent to him who were taking up space for four. I was so annoyed. In a situation like that, the staff should be able to ask people who are taking up more space than they need to make some room for other paying customers. Furthermore, the upstairs dining should have been open as it appeared to be a busy time in the store and denying paying customers a place to sit comfortably and enjoy their purchase is bad service. I didn't even want to buy the items anymore but because the cashier was her overly polite Japanese self through it all, I didn't want to make a scene by refusing to pay for them and just walking away. So I paid for them and had to go find somewhere else to sit and eat them.

I had the chance to try Tokyo Melonpan after many years. I can say the food will not disappoint. The giant melonpan on the building looks a bit broken which takes away from the appearance of the store. While the person operating this location provided us with great service and a smile, we went at 1030 and the store hadn't opened yet. In fact it didn't open until after 11am.
Jon H — Google review
I'm not sure if I went on an off-day or something but it was really quiet and there were maybe only 4 or 5 buns per flavor (plain, chocolate and cinnamon). The bun itself was soft and fluffy and the cookie part was the crunchy, sugary type of topping. The cinnamon flavor was only in the cookie part but chocolate was in both. Size was about right and the slashes were a good depth. I'm super biased though because my first meronpan was completely melon-flavored and the cookie part was thinner so it didn't flake off everywhere when I bit into it. That is to say, I've had better. A shame since this is highly rated amongst foreigners! But if you're looking for plain white sweet bread, then this one is for you.

(Translated by Google) I visited on a Saturday around 2pm. There were about 13 types of bread left. Since it was my first time, I bought a standard loaf of bread (half size ¥226), salted butter bread (¥205), and black bean soybean cream (¥280). The bread was sliced, and the black bean kinako cream was freshly squeezed. I was able to use paypay for payment. The bread is chewy, soft and moist ✨ The salted butter bread is also chewy and soft. The Calpis butter oozed out and was delicious. The black bean kinako cream bread is full of cream! All the breads were so delicious that I would like to buy another one. Overall, Vie de France - Myogadani is known for its excellent coffee shop ambiance and high-quality coffee and bakery items.

Reasonably ok cafe... and good location by station. Just not up to the best standards of Tokyo, in my opinion. I wish they'd had a "morning set". Few cafe options in this neighborhood from what I could tell.

I came here after visiting the Sakura trees at harimazaka Sakura namiki. It was raining and chilly only 7 Celsius on the first day of April. Hoping a cup of hot coffee would bring me back from coldness. I also wanted to try the curry bread. Haven’t had it for a while. The dine in area was quite spacious and was crowded with people. But it was not noisy so I could have a relaxing break.

Nezu no Pan is a charming bakery known for its freshly baked artisanal breads and pastries. Despite its unassuming appearance, this cute little bakery offers a great variety of delicious treats that make the wait in line worthwhile. The friendly staff adds to the welcoming atmosphere, making it a favorite among locals and visitors alike.
Various delicious pieces of bread, very easy to take out for the rest of the day. I wish I could've gone to this bakery more often, the staff and local people in the shop felt very welcoming. These small interactions really make me miss Japan after a great vacation.
Tim P — Google review
Nice little bakery near Nezu station. They sell mini-sized breads, both for the loaves and the other pasties and savory options. The prices were fine considering the size as well as the flavor. If in the area, it's an okay snack while walking around, but in a competitive city for bakeries, it doesn't stand out too much.
Thomas — Google review
A small hidden bakery with cute breads. I especially loved their coffee chestnut bread (栗カフェ). I loved the combo of coffee, melty chocolate, creamy chest nuts and crunchy walnuts. We also tried their chocolate milk bread which also was slightly sweet with nice aroma of chocolate. If you are heading to nezu shrine and are looking for a snack, I highly recommend passing by.
Boram H — Google review
I got the chocolate chestnut bread, millet bread, croissant, and a scone. I loved the chocolate chestnut bread and really liked the size of the millet bread — you can get larger ones too, but that wouldn’t work for me. Croissant will be your fav if you like less butter flavor. I found The scone too salty and not like a "scone". I’m sure you can find something unique and different here every day. As for pricing, well these are artisan 🍞 so it is normal.
Elif B — Google review
Good bakery but difficult to locate. All bakeries are same in Tokyo and I didn’t find anything very special for us to take train and locate the place. The bread was good and staff was friendly for sure. Will visit the place if I ever go in the vicinity but will not go specially to the place to buy something. There are many great bakeries in the neighbourhood all over Tokyo.

Best bakery I have found in Tokyo so far. Excellent buns and bread, using various grains in the dough for texture and nutrition. Unfortunately often already closed when I'm done with work so I can't buy it as often as I'd like!

Genuinely exceptional pain au chocolat. Many layers with crispy outside, tender interior, and high quality soft dark chocolate. The only complaint is that they're a bit small, but that's my fault for not buying more of them.

A great bakery worth a try if you are in the area. Flour/wheats from Hokkaido. I love their baguette, and sandwiches made with small baguettes are also awesome. The baker is ex-Aux Bacchanales guy.

I initially thought this pastry shop had just opened, but I was surprised to learn they’ve actually been around for five years. Today, I had the chance to try their croissant and a pastry made from croissant dough with various nuts—it was absolutely delicious. I also tried their specialty, a chocolate bread-like pastry. Everything was tasty, and it didn’t upset my stomach. My only concern is their packaging—everything was packed in plastic. While I understand why they do it, I couldn’t help but think about the environmental impact of single-use packaging. Because of this, I’m hesitant to visit again. I hope they can find a solution to reduce their plastic use. Otherwise, everything was fresh and delicious.

Walked 30 minutes to get here to discover there were no pretzels… Why as a German bakery would you not have pretzels? They’re the most iconic German baked good. They had everything else like bread and pastries. But all I wanted was a pretzel. Very disappointed.

(Translated by Google) My first visit came true after two years of wishing. I asked the owner for a recommendation, and he replied croissants and baguettes, so I ordered both without hesitation. The croissants were crisp on the outside and moist with a rich buttery flavor inside. As recommended, they were very delicious. The baguette-shaped light on the wall behind the register was actually made by hollowing out a real baguette, installing the light inside, and then varnishing the outside. They also have lights for bread, croissants, etc. The exterior is very stylish, isn't it?♪ Next time, I might try the eat-in space along with a drink at the register.

I arrived after 6pm, so there was plenty of sliced bread, but only about six types of savory bread left. It was disappointing that there were only soft, fluffy varieties, but they were certainly delicious. I feel like 1,290 yen for five loaves of bread in Tokyo is quite a bargain.
