Pastry shop
Oš Kolač, a charming pastry shop in Croatia, is a haven for dessert lovers. Run by Tea Mamut, the first Croatian pastry chef with a diploma from the American Culinary Academy in New York, this place offers an array of tempting treats. From modern and healthy gluten-free desserts to retro flavors like juicy biscuits and rich creams, there's something for everyone.
The best cappuccino in Croatia steaming hot and flavorful. Thank you. We savored a fabulous custard filled choux pastry with pistachio and raspberry in the cute cafe!
Sona V — Google review
Such a cute and comfy place. Went here with my friend and we had some really delicious cinnamon rolls, the coffee was amazing too. The staff was really polite! Loved it
Nikolina K — Google review
My wife and I stopped by yesterday, as we had to try some of their amazing looking treats. We were so glad we did - delicious. This place only has limited seating inside, but there are places outside to sit on a ledge to share a treat...or one for each. Without a doubt, their cinnamon rolls are worth the trip - amazing. We tried another treat (olive oil cake) and it was also delicious...and like a small piece of art. The service was great and the decor was definitely next level. I highly recommend this place for a treat. Thanks.

This cafe has a very very nice atmosphere and was delicious! I had the salted caramel cheesecake and it was absolutely amazing- and my cafe latte was very very nice, with a smooth creamy flavor that was lovely. The whole cafe has a beautiful interior design, very pretty decorations, a friendly staff, and is in a great location! I was very happy to find this cafe!
E — Google review
What a great little pastry shop. Only 3 tables available inside, no outside seating. Located near the Croatian National Theater. If I hadn't been looking for it specifically, I would have just passed by it. I saw a couple of people sitting inside through a closed door and wasn'teven sure if the place was open. You cannot see the desserts from the window, such a shame! Quite a contrast to hundreds of ice cream shops downtown where the desserts are on display inviting you to buy something. Apparently a lot of people order take out. Went in on a weekday, 1 hour before closing so they only had 3 types of cake available, but at least you know they're fresh. And delicious.
Iva Q — Google review
Wonderful cakes Just go with what you like i especially enjoyed the almond creamy part of the cake. A bit expensive for special cakes its okay tho. Worth a visit
Jan G — Google review
The lemon cake was incredible, not too sweet and the almond coating worked so well with the flavours! It was so difficult choosing what to have as the cakes looked amazing!!
Perla B — Google review
That was the most unexpected and delicious treat we bought in Split! I googled pastry shops in the evening and found this place. We came in 7 minutes before they were closing, chose 3 cakes from the leftovers and ordered some tea to go. The worker was very kind and open, the cakes were amazing, fresh, tasty and made from high-quality ingredients, the herb tea was something out of this world. We tried to find some similar tea online - couldn't find any :(

Peco is a popular bakery located on the road leading from Cavtat's main square to the Rat peninsula. It is known for being the town's best bakery, offering a variety of pastries, homemade desserts, sandwiches, and pizza slices. The bakery also caters to vegan-friendly options with oat and almond milk coffees available.
Had a lovely coffee and pastry here this morning. Prices very reasonable and not much different than the takeaway around the corner. Nice to sit and people watch. Liked it so much went back for a takeout to have at our apartment for lunch. Just wished I had not left it till the last day to visit.
Susan B — Google review
I had breakfast at this place. I ordered the omelet, nothing too special. Great selection of pastries. I appreciated the freshly squeezed orange juice.
Mahsa A — Google review
Fresh out of the oven pastries etc. Good coffee lovely atmosphere. We visited here almost everyday or our trip. Fab iced coffee, no flavouring with cream - the owner remembered us each time we returned. Friendly staff not the case everywhere we went in Cavtat
Michelle S — Google review
If you're looking for the perfect place for coffee and pastries in Cavtat, this is absolutely the number one choice. Every product is freshly made each day, and you can taste the difference immediately. The selection is always diverse, and the quality consistently top-notch. Coffee is best we've had in Croatia!!! The staff is incredibly kind and always welcoming, ready to recommend something or help you choose. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it the ideal spot both for a morning coffee and breakfast or afternoon treat. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy truly fresh delicacies and excellent service!
Lidija T — Google review
We've visited here 3 times over the last week as the food and coffee has been excellent. The coffee is nutty and strong and some of the best we'd tried whilst in Croatia. We tried the strudel twice it was so good, the pastry snail and also had a tuna sandwich plus a ham & cheese roll. The bakery products are delicious so fresh and full of flavour. Such a reasonable price as well especially as it's just a stones throw from the harbour. Highly recommend

burek was pretty good and i have a nice double espresso, but the service here really shines! the waiter here is excellent and makes sure everyone is eating/drinking and happy 🤩
Lucas H — Google review
This bakery is a must visit place if you are in Cavtat, the food is always fresh and very tasty, with a very wide selection of food. There's both seating indoors and outdoors, with plenty of drink (coffee) and pastry options. The donuts were filling and fresh.

If you find yourself in the charming city center near Diocletian's Palace, make sure to stop by Bobis, a beloved bakery that holds a special place in the hearts of locals. Renowned for its delightful array of cakes and pastries, Bobis is where nostalgia meets flavor—each bite reminiscent of childhood memories. From scrumptious jam donuts to savory sandwiches and protein-packed lunch wraps, there's something for everyone.
I’ve been staying in the city for 2 weeks now and I’ve gotten fresh bread, croissants, and donuts almost every single day. The staff has always been kind and helpful to me and the pastries are the best croissants I’ve had in split. I’ve tried multiple different breads from them and they’ve always been tasty. I’ve gone primarily in the morning so I can’t speak for the freshness towards the end of the day but I would recommend this bakery to everyone.
Michelle L — Google review
No food. Service was lacking but also made you feel at ease. Ordered 2 fantastic and got 2 differant types... never seen that before. Went to order another drink to be told they had closed. It would have been nice to have been told, but no problem, plenty of surrounding places are still serving. Shame has loads of potential but badly ran. A drink was a drink, so it was what it was, but if you're looking for somewhere with a bit of something... this isn't your place.
Harri F — Google review
Popped in here for a coffee. Also went across the street to their hole in the wall. Staff were friendly enough and efficient. They have a wide range of drinks and pastries. These were very good overall. We had the cherry slice which is a Croatian classic. Really enjoyed this and the pastry was very light - filling not too sweet. Well worth a visit for a quick a value bite.
Hywel M — Google review
Good cafe in Split, located at a very nice location, nice view. The food is just okay, not that bad but I like the long coffee that they serve, quite good. The price is reasonable and the service is quite fast. The staff is also okay. Some might not agree but the coffee is actually quite good. There’s toilet available too.

disappointed about their smoothies, no tastes at all, its like water.. and no milk but grateful for the filipina who at least gave a packet of honey to make sense of this 6 euro drink. never tasted a smoothie as bad as this before and with the price, its unbelievable, sorry, i hope you improve
Abie ( — Google review
Horrible service, ice cream has a huge chuck of ice inside, when I asked the staff about it she just said ‘’it’s just ice, it’s nothing’, no apologies, no exchange, ended up paying 1/3 of my ice cream for big chuck of ice. The drinks also definitely don’t worth the price they charged.

Cukar, a pastry shop with a delightful ambiance, is adorned with vibrant colors and surrounded by lush greenery. The staff provides excellent service, always friendly and willing to answer any inquiries about their delectable cakes. Though the prices are reasonable, the cakes themselves are truly outstanding and worth every penny. Each cake is handcrafted and unique to Cukar, offering a special taste that cannot be found elsewhere in Croatia.
The best desserts in Croatia! Spent several days on Vis and visited Cukar every single day. I am a baker confectioner, so I am very picky with cakes I eat, this place is just WOW. Everything we tried was beyond delicious. I especially miss the lemon cake 🍋 On the way back bought several packs of biscuits as souvenirs and they were also very good. A must visit if you're on Vis!

Excellente service (the young lady speaks a very good English and she is very kind) The food is very good, very similar to French pastries quality and taste. Definitely a place to go to eat (and drink) something.
Claude B — Google review
Definitely the best "food" provider on the island. Too bad they only serve desserts! Probably the best pastry shop on the Adriatic. Congratulations, I RECOMMEND! If you visit Vis, Cukar is in the first place, even though desserts are served last .
Leo — Google review
Supertasty cakes with local ingredients. It's hard for me to point out the favorites - let's say they are Onica (with hazelnuts, orange, apple, fig, wine and bay leaf), Limun (lemon shaped cake) and Carob cake with orange. Honorable place goes to Plivači ('Swimmers'), great pastries with orange and hazelnut. ❤😊 Be sure to visit if you are on the island.
Radmila T — Google review
A charming little pastry shop on the edge of the city center, with friendly staff at the counter and equally kind and cheerful people in the production area, which is visible from the cash register and dessert displays. Tasty and visually appealing, with some options available for vegans.

Bakery
Mlinar bakery in Dubrovnik is renowned for its delectable assortment of Croatian Bureks. The beef burek, with tender and flavorful meat, coupled with the soft yet crispy bread, comes highly recommended. Equally impressive are the potato and chicken options. For a delightful picnic snack, the ham and cheese sandwich proves to be fantastic. While some days witness freshly made bread, other times it may not exhibit the same level of freshness.
The potato rolls were AMAZING 😍 it was warm and crispy, super delicious, we bought 7 for the flight tomorrow 🤣 I bought 2 focaccia, just got a bite for now, it was good ! Thank you for vegan/Plant-based options ☺️ Price are fair compared to other things in old town
Helene A — Google review
It was okay, got the spinach and cheese burek which was served warm which was nice. Pastry was a little flaky but more soft than I’d hoped. Couldve used more filling.
Patrick Z — Google review
We were super hungry when we went here! All the breads pastries smelled divine. I got their spinach burek and croissant. I had my first ever burek from them and i am glad i chose this bakery because they are good at what they do.
Robab M — Google review
This mlinar is a cultural phenomenon, the cheesy hotdog is an absolute treat, the conflicting tastes clash perfectly in your mouth, as said in mlinars website "Hot dog, mayonnaise, mustard and ketchup, topped with melted semihard cheese, come together perfectly in this delicious pastry. An excellent choice for a snack!" An excellent choice for a snack indeed! The thoughtful twist of adding a hot dog, mayonnaise mustard and ketchup to an already delicious pastry is simply incredible. Whoever came up with the recipie for the cheesy hotdog is deserving of a Nobel peace prize. The amount of conflicts that could be solved with this €3.70 treat is unfathomable. Picture this scene, you are a tourist from Ireland, desperately scouring the streets of Dubrovnik for a decent lunch that you won't need to remortgage your house for, walking down the main street in the old city then you stumble across it, described by an English tourist as a fake Gregg's probably worse, oh how wrong they were. You walk in, fully expecting awfulness, your expectations low as ever, you queue in the unusually long line, waiting for what you expect will be subpar, as you get to the front you eye up a sandwich, only to change your mind at the last moment, you decide to get a cheesy hotdog, little did you know how much this decision would change the course of your life, as soon as you bite into your newly purchased cheesy hotdog your expectations absolutely fly through the roof, to the moon! To mars! To the sun! To the edge of the galaxy! It just absolutely melts in your mouth complete and utter awesomeness. Getting bored now, going to get another cheesy hotdog, mlinar please open some in Ireland, the cheesey hotdogs are legendary, awesome, brilliant, tasty, and Wunderbar. Goodbye!
Ethan — Google review
Don't expect very good options, they do the job, but it's far from very good. I've tried both the apple strudel and the apricot croissant and neither of them were very good. On a plus side, this store is bigger and has more selection.
Núria V — Google review
Holy Burek had a crazy snaking queue. So we went to Mlinar instead 30m away for the burek. Tried potato, cheese n spinach ones. They were just as good to me, a tourist, as Holy Burek’s which we tried the day before

Pleasant pastry shop right in the heart of old town. Mistake I made was not to eat it straight away for the crunch
Cheng J — Google review
Very busy location and most people are quite rude and shove past you. This is not the business fault tho. Staff was clearly under pressure but remained on top of the crowd. The pastries I tried were lovely, they are handed over warm which is also a plus.

Bakery
Restaurant
Nestled close to Split's Fish Market in the enchanting Old Town, Kruscic Bakery is a delightful artisan haven that specializes in small-batch breads inspired by traditional French and German recipes. This charming bakery takes pride in using only four simple ingredients—flour, water, salt, and yeast—ensuring that every loaf, baguette, and pastry is crafted with natural local flours free from additives or preservatives.
Fantastic, out-of-the-ordinary bakery offering a varied array of breads and pastries, including some must-try Croatian specialties that you won’t find in other bakeries (such as Easter buns or poppy seed braids). Everything was delicious and I really appreciate that they use whole grain and ancient grain flours rather than generic bleached wheat flour. Everything I tried was delicious, but their whole grain croissant is a must, even if you don’t love croissants (I personally don’t like them at all and still loved this one). It’s crunchy, salty, and has a melt-in-your-mouth feel full of a savory almost nutty flavor. It’s fantastic—don’t miss it. Otherwise, you really can’t go wrong with anything you choose—we really enjoyed everything we had. The woman who works the shop is very friendly and explained all the different options to us. They even had a few vegan options. Just remember that it’s cash only (and very reasonably priced). Don’t miss stopping by!

Local traditional Croatian Bakery! Everything made here is incredible! Perfect spot for breakfast to try some different Croatian pastries and everything is made fresh that same morning. We were there around Easter and they even had Easter buns, which were such a treat to try. Highly recommend checking this place out while in Split!

One of the best bakeries on central Splits main streets. This has a great range of products. I would highly recommend anything from.this bakery. Prices are highly reasonable. This has one of the best range of speciality cakes also. Service was great and fast. Great breakfast for 5 euros

One thing I noticed throughout our travels through the Balkans is, that you can find amazing bakeries in almost every city. You never can go wrong with a coffee and a piece of delicious pastry, right? We got something sweet and savoury there: cinnamon buns and a pastry with some pesto filling inside. Both were fresh and really tasty, and we can totally understand, why there's a waiting line at this bakery so often!☺️
Nadi W — Google review
Traditional bakery with delicious goods, however limited options. Must try the sesame cheese pesto rolls - so delicious!
Yulia K — Google review
The bakery is centrally located. Upon entering, I was greeted by delicious smells and the pastries were just as good.

Delicious cute spot with really really nice bakery, perfect for breakfast or quick bite as you go. The smell is unreal! Good selection of sweets and savoury.

We were delighted to see a"gluten free" bakery but we're very disappointed when we arrived. There was only gluten free bread available and one pizza. Then we were told the food was not safe for celiacs as the chef didn't use clean gloves/tools when cooking!? I asked what the pint of lifting gluten free food was if they didn't care about allergens.. When asked on their cross contamination/allergy policy the staff were extremely rude and dismissive. I was very disappointed and will not be running.

Bakery
Mlinar Hvar is a Croatian bakery with delicious pastries and breads. The prices are a bit higher than at other bakeries, but it's worth it because of the great location and friendly staff. Note: Don't order a sliced pizza here - this is not a restaurant, it's a bakery!
This is a big Croatia chain bakery. I got the spinach and cheese burek and some sweet pastries with farmer cheese and one with cherry. I cannot complain- they were tasty and still warm fresh out of the oven around 11am. Service was a bit grumpy and there is nowhere to sit down and eat there so I had to find a spot in the scorching sun. The pastries were good- it’s hard to mess up cheese and phillo dough. The sandwiches and pizza did not look too good- but that’s probably not what you should be going there for. Stick to the Croatian classics.

Rusica Bakery provides excellent service with a welcoming and accommodating staff, offering competitive pricing. Although some employees may have limited English proficiency, they make an effort to assist customers using Google translate or their own vocabulary. Furthermore, the bakery offers a delightful treat as an added bonus. The shop is known for its delectable and freshly baked patties that are not only tasty but also affordable at 25 kuna.
Very nice "burek", we took cheese and meat ones for 3€ each, and they were crunchy and very tasty. (I could pay with a credit card without any problem, despite what I had read in some reviews here. They were kind to us and spoke English)
Carles T — Google review
Good little bakery near our Airbnb. We had a ham & cheese sandwich, a cheese burek, some sort of pizza roll, and a chocolate croissant- all for about 10 euros which is very affordable, especially in Dubrovnik. However, the croissant was horrible, hardly any chocolate and taste was just awful; not sure how it’s possible to ruin a croissant but worse one I’ve ever had-don’t order this here. Everything else was ok, not the best but not the worst- for price/place it’s ok. Cheese burek was huge! A nice Asian lady took our order and she was helpful, owners were ok-not friendly, not mean.

Regardless whether they were closing or not she was very condescending and obviously annoyed with our presence and unnecessarily aggressive.
Regina N — Google review
DO NOT RECOMMEND - horrible customer service. Older lady was rude and condescending from the beginning, cash only which is fine but refusing to tell us where the ATM is (right up the road 20 metres). Then didn’t let the other lady serve us, continuously slamming the counter at us, then was extremely rude and yelled goodbye at us when we asked for the receipt that she had scrunched up in her hands. The food was not bad itself, but was completely disregarded due to the horrible service. Not sure if she was having a bad day or just hated foreigners. Extremely impolite.

The bakery offers an array of freshly baked goods, from crispy pastries to savory choices at reasonable prices. Great little bakery right outside of the gates of Old Town. Food was reasonably priced, pizzas were AMAZING, as well as croissants. We went back twice. Employees were nice while visiting.

Babic Bakery, right outside Pile Gate, was a reliable spot for quick bites during our Dubrovnik trip. We visited twice and everything we tried was tasty and filling — pizzas, spinach and cheese rolls, croissants, and even the chicken roll for around €5.5 were all fresh and satisfying. The staff was friendly and service was fast, which is perfect for a takeaway stop. The only minor letdown was the small chocolate donut for €0.50, which wasn’t great. Otherwise, everything else was delicious and we’d definitely recommend stopping by for a quick bite.

The bakery is right outside the Ploce gate. We were walking back to the old city from St. Jacob's (Jakov) Beach and needed a quick bite. Got a slice of Margherita and pepperoni pizza and it was alright. Did the job, nothing outstanding but not poor either.
Amy P — Google review
I don't understand why this bakery doesn't have high reviews. I tried chocolate croissant many many times while I was staying in Dubrovnik. The price is affordable and the croissant was fresh and delicious. You can get a decent bread for your breakfast.

Krostula Bakery & Pastry is a charming bakery located in the old town of Zadar. It has a cozy, neighborhood feel and offers an array of freshly baked goods, including marzipan and chocolate croissants that are juicy and delicious. The bakery is known for its exceptional bread, which stays fresh throughout the day. Visitors recommend trying the almond croissant with cream filling, as well as the unique and tasty chocolate croissant.
Nice bakery in the old town, nothing fancy but feel more like neighborhood pastry. We got lucky that the new batch of fresh hot croissant just came out. Marzipan and chocolate croissant are both juicy and tasty! The chocolate one is not that sweet, which I love it very much! Will definitely visit again!

Fresh baked goods. Friendly service. The chocolate croissant is unique and delicious.

Although we visited the bakery at 7:30, the offer was very limited. The best pastry item we tried there was almond croissant with a cream filling, it was the best croissant ever! I really recommend it.
Monika M — Google review
The best bakery I found during a month in Zadar. All the breads are sourdough (kiseli kruh), very rare in Croatia, and there is always a scrumptious selection of cakes, cookies, and pastries. True artisans!
Charles F — Google review
Try the filled croissants, 2€ the piece but totally worth it... Oh and it's cash only.

Krempita melts in the mouth. Trip to Zadar will be incomplete without trying this. The chocolate pastry is good too.
Harshita M — Google review
Except the old woman working there is very rude but I have to be honest that they have the best bread in old town Zadar. Freshly made bread don't dry out and can keep till dinner even if you buy it in the morning. Very reasonable price, definitely recommend this place.

This place has amazing pastries - and very high quality bread. We got the cherry strudel and ended up coming back the next day for more. We got something with spinach ham and cheese in it and the dough around it was perfect. This bakery is on another level to what we’ve found after a month in Croatia. Whether you want something sweet or savory this place hits the spot!

One of the best Chicken wraps I had in Europe!! Amazing Guy who helped customize the wrap to our needs with spice level!!Absolutely loved the wraps !! We bought our dinner two days in a row to ensure we didn’t miss out on the taste and sumptuous food!!

Perfect option for a quick, casual lunch while at the nearby beach. Everything is well seasoned and is just the right amount of food, with an abundance of protein. My wife normally wants variety but demanded we go back four times during our vacation. Everything we tried was great, but the chicken kebab was the best in Dubrovnik, followed closely by the chicken salad for a lighter meal.

Yum! Get the potato pastry and the chees filled pastry. Delicious snack! We also enjoyed the Empty Bagel. It left us anything but. Perfect place for a quick bite. Ston is delightful!

Had the cheese burek, the pistachio croissant and this little bun with the tomato filling. The croissants are really, really fantastic. Extremely fluffy and crispy with a thick & sweet pistachio sauce. MUST TRY. Please, if you're in the area for oysters go get the croissant. And they only take cash.
Ivan T — Google review
The baked goods were really tasty! We got the burrito looking thing in chicken and ham. They were warm and so good! We also got a cheese burek and it was nothing to write home about- kind of bland. Then we got a chocolate croissant that was delicious and a chocolate rectangle pastry that was pretty good. Everything in total was 15 euros. Cash only. The service was not good and the lady working behind the counter wasn’t friendly.
Sarah H — Google review
The woman behind the counter was extremely rude. You had to be very quick to decide what you wanted or else she went to the next person in line. After deciding what I wanted, she put it on the counter and walks over to the register, she doesn't say much to you, not even a thank you. I came back and ask if there are any napkins, she gave me a stern "NO"
Diane B — Google review
Pastries and bread were just fine. Service was rude, don’t expect much. Sad, this place has a lot of potential.

We visited yesterday. The saleswoman was the rudest person we met in Croatia. There are a lot of moments one doesn’t really care about that but this wasn’t one of them. We were exhausted after a long day driving and a lot of different small problems and could’ve done with a bit of friendliness. After all ….. what do a smile and some kindness cost? Bread was ok, a lot of things sold out, cheese burek was not very tasty.
Agnes H — Google review
We are not welcome that’s for sure. The pastries are ok but extremely sweet.

Had spinach Burek and apple strudel. Burek was thin in filling and pastry chewy and salty. Apple strudel was ok. What stood out the most is how rude the lady serving the food was to all customers. I would have walked out myself but others in my party were hungry. Go elsewhere

What a hidden gem! Our accommodation was in this area and we were walking past it. Saw a ton of students going in there so we decided to check it out… one of the best decisions we made! They had this cherry strudel and it was one of the best I had in my life. I enjoyed it a lot because it had heavy fruit glaze and I prefer that over have a ton of the actual fruit. We like this so much we came here again so would definitely recommend this!

If you wanna grab a quick snack then this is the best . You can get croissants, bread and cakes as well. When I was in Zadar this was my go to place to get croissants and breads. I would recommend to go early in the morning to get a fresh bite of croissants . And during peak hours they make fresh bread and croissants as well .
Ravikiran M — Google review
An average bakery that specializes in Croatian breads and pastries. Its main draw is the location, that being in the middle of Old Town along the main "Siroka" street. Prices are ok, considering the location but it is closed on Sundays. I enjoyed their Spinach and cheese burek as well as the meat burek. Be careful though, due to its high profile location the bakery will run out of their more popular items, like meat burek.
Bobby C — Google review
Poorly trained staff and a food hygiene incident waiting to happen. Be better. Sunday afternoon. I popped in here as I thought I'd found an actual vegetarian sandwich. The Mexican wrap in the cabinet.... The lady advised it was vegetarian. Immediately on purchase I found not only does it contain chicken, but was also kept at ambient temperature and had been all day! Alongside the tuna ones! ☣️ When I tried to explain the risk of this, and why it meant I was not going to eat this the staff were confused and also unable to refund me seconds after I'd purchased it because 'I paid on card!'. That's entirely rubbish as there's no way a POS till system would only allow cash refunds! I tried to explain that contactless still supports refunds and asked for a different item as a replacement but the staff member felt fearful of being empowered enough to do that! Ridiculous that staff cannot have the autonomy to replace unsafe or sub quality products for customers due to lack of training and apparently lack of basic safety in food handling. Selling these meat wraps at warmer than room temperature is a public health risk and they need reporting up the local authority. And the staff need to be trained in using the till system. Avoid this place. Advice to management; train your staff, allow them to correct customer complaints and ensure they understand safe food practices followed. Not good at all. Be better.

I’ve never been treated this way in any place around the world. The seller a woman arround 45 with blue eyes who didn’t want to give me her name, was super rude and impolite by answering with 0 consideration and a lot of hate.
