Popped in for breakfast while in Brighton and it was such a great find. The croissants are huge—really generous portions. I had the ham and cheese croissant with an oat cappuccino, and both were delicious. Lovely spot for a relaxed morning bite

Top class coffee and pastries, made on site. Very functional interior, with seating outside on the popular Sydney Street. Sadly no WiFi.

First saw this place on Instagram and really wanted the opportunity to try it. A few months after following them, I find myself in Brighton and happened to come across it, while walking past. I hadn’t originally planned to pop in but I remembered their Instagram and promptly entered the cafe. I was not disappointed! My slice of blackout cake was some of the nicest chocolate cake I’ve ever had! My hot chocolate was lovely too. Both tasted gorgeous and not sickly sweet either. They were just right! Not only was my cake amazing, but so was the service. The staff were ever so friendly and polite, which made me, as a visitor who doesn’t like to annoy locals, feel very warmly welcomed. It was the perfect way to start what turned out to be a truly wonderful day. Thank you so much! I’ll be coming back, when I’m next in town.

It's super cute and the food is great! I got a cheese and tomato croissant and it was delicious. There are also plenty of outlets inside if you need to charge your phone.

The flat white was good but unfortunately the carrot cake was just too sweet and the frosting was chantilly cream instead of regular cream cheese, I couldn’t finish it. Good location and professional service.

What a lovely cafe. I often pop in for a cuppa and pastry. The amazing staff are so friendly, food is great and the store is always clean and tidy. One of my favorite stops when shopping in the North Lanes. Keep up the amazing work and I will be back soon.

This cafe has a charming vibe, but overall it was a bit underwhelming. The macarons are hit or miss – most were just okay, but the rose-flavored one stood out as something a little different and surprisingly nice. Unfortunately, the croissants didn’t impress – a bit dry and lacking that buttery flakiness you'd expect. The space itself is quite small and tends to get crowded, which makes it hard to relax or find a seat. It’s worth popping in if you're curious about their more unique flavors, but it might not become your go-to spot.

Lovely cafe, excellent table service and very dog friendly (bowl and treats appeared as soon as we entered). Cakes were very nice and fresh. Coffee under priced and over delivered in flavour. So absolutely 5*!

Every time we visit all the food is absolutely impeccable! Tasty, fresh and it also has the bonus of looking just picture perfect. Would highly recommend! Also, the staff is very nice, friendly and attentive. Always welcoming you with some sample to try!

Such a lovely café with the most delicious croissants, cakes, and macarons! The Brighton branch has a cozy and inviting atmosphere, and the staff are incredibly friendly and attentive. Everything is beautifully presented and tastes amazing. Highly recommend for a delightful treat!

We tried several products in the cafe which were all well-made and tasty. We also brought some home and ate them the next day which still kept very good quality. Highly recommended!!!

I don’t usually go to dessert cafés, so take this with a pinch of salt — but I really enjoyed it here. The croissant was crispy, the chocolate macaron sweet but not too much, and the chocolate cake had a tasty biscuit base. Nice spot for a treat.

We took some desserts to go – the macarons were good, but the lemon tart had a very firm top layer, unlike the delicate texture you’d expect from a proper French pâtisserie. I’m also deducting a point for hygiene: when packing the cutlery, a staff member touched the spoon by the part that goes into the mouth. Could you please ensure better sanitary practices?

Good food but be very careful about the huge price difference between take away £4 and stay in for the exaggerated price of £8.20!! That's more than 200% really?

The baked goods here in Hove are excellent, but the place needs more attention to cleanliness. It’s a very old, tiny wooden café that feels stuck in the past, with outdated tools and equipment. The way the food is displayed, the look of the place, and even the staff’s clothing don’t give a good impression. At one point, I even saw the chef holding the dough against his chest, which was pretty off-putting. Tasty food, yes, but the hygiene is far below basic standards, which ruins the experience.

Nice food but when your paying £6.80 for a slice of cake and £6 for a pot of tea it became a problem, not value for money and service is not great, I was almost expecting to pay for the tap water. Avoid!

One thing I can’t handle myself is my love for bakery 😅. Passed by this place when grabbing fish & chips and enjoyed it at beach. Then had delicious ice cream but my mind was stuck for bakery. Any how been back, grab some stuff and move on. Service wasn’t that good but the bakery stuff was.

AVOID..miserable service without eye contact or a hint of warmth or welcoming. I paid just under a tenner for a stale biscuit that had been sat out all day (along with pretty much everything else) and a pot of mediocre tea. The place was in need of a serious clean and had an overall vibe of nobody really caring anymore. Spend your money elsewhere.

Came across by accident as we walked into Brighton from Hove and were enticed by the trolleys full of pastries in the window. Popped in for a coffee and spotted all the lovely cakes. Great range pastries, cakes and bread. Would definitely recommend. My only regret is that I had to choose!

There are lots of delicious looking sweet treats here. I ordered an almond croissant but the pastry was soggy and seemed like yesterday's leftovers unfortunately; definitely not what I'd expect from a patisserie. The coffee is not barista level coffee, it tasted more like a button pressing coffee machine. It was really busy though so perhaps it was an off day.

I ordered the vanilla and wild berry cake for inscribed for a birthday. It went down so well! A great alternative to a traditional sponge or fruit cake. Thank you. I highly recommend this

I was the biggest Real Patisserie fan over the pandemic, but it seems like the quality of their products/service really dropped over the last year or so. Nothing tastes fresh or looks as exquisite as before. Variety and seasonal desserts were one of my favourite things about them, but that not to be seen in any of their places anymore. Also croissants taste nothing like they used to.

Amazing frittata !! 😋😋😋 2 flavours, all good, full of vegetables , definitely special. Good pastry shop, I'll come back everytime I visited Brighton also recommend it to my friends : )

Customer service very poor the girl behind the counter she had blue eyes. She’s very rude. I was watching how she throw the food to the customer. It’s very very very bad. It’s a shame nice local place like that. I hope she get the message and she changed to the better with a customer many thanks

Absolutely delicious pastries! There was quite the line in the morning (understandably so), so I had plenty of time to choose what I wanted. Went for an almond pastry with raspberries and it was divine. The coffee was also great and refreshing!

They bake everything on-site daily, with a huge range of breads and sweet treats. The aroma floods the street when they’re working late at night. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. It's a great place to grab a coffee and a pastry, or to stock up on fresh bread. Indoor seating is limited, but this is more of a grab-and-go kinda place. I love getting breakfast from here before going to uni. Also, prices are slightly above average, but the quality justifies the cost in my opinion. Overall, Open Bakery is a fantastic bakery in Kemptown. They offer delicious baked goods, a welcoming atmosphere, and a true taste of artisan baking. I’m so lucky to live next to this place, highly recommend!

The best bakery in Brighton. Absolutely wonderful! Gooseberry tart with pastry made in heaven! Focaccia with giant green olives and a dash of lemon sublime. Sweet or savoury all utterly delicious. Don't go when you're hungry! 😋

One of the best bakeries I've been too, seriously! The staff were very courteous and helpful. Food selection was lovely and there were quite a lot of vegetarian options. I only eat Halal meat so I got all the 3 kinds of vegetarian quiches. Absolutely loved them all! The pistachio raspberry cakes were worth the calories! Highly recommend when in Brighton 🙌

Whenever I stay Brighton, I visit Open Bakery in Kemptown on a daily basis. My breakfast of choice is a small tea (made nice and strong, with the teabag left in) and a cinnamon twirl. Like all the items I’ve tried, these are absolutely superb. If you like a cinnamon twirl, this is the ultimate - supermarket versions just don’t compare. While I’m being served I am often tempted by one of the cakes on display. On my latest visit I tried an almond bite (moist, buttery and delicious), a rum canele (absolutely divine) and a vegan tiramisu cake (rich and tasty). Everything looks so good, it’s hard to choose! The staff are always friendly and welcoming and make time to chat, even though the bakery is often busy. They never make you feel rushed and are helpful and polite. Open Bakery is one of my favourite things about Brighton. I highly recommend a visit and guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Quick stop for grabbing a bread before catch train. Such awesome vibe, great atmosphere and huge range of fresh bakery products. I love bakery and was mouthwatering to see many products Bagel, croissants, sandwiches. Yum yum and all hand made. The staff were very warm and helpful. The interior was simple but nice and gave a good vibe. My friends were cursing me because they know what bakery means to me. So they pushed me to grab a bread and out before we miss train 😅. No worries I’m coming back to have all of it 😁

Cute location with delicious offerings. We had a scone with clotted cream and jam, a chocolate croissant, and a fun strawberry Darjeeling cold tea that was awesome. Everything was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful. Prices are typical. I would go back for sure! There's still lots to try.

Down on holiday in Brighton, ended up going to Gail's twice for breakfast, amazing selection of food and great coffee. One of the bakers behind the counter in the bakery even gave us a free defect cinnamon bun which was still amazing but and a nice gesture. Highly recommend 👌👌

GAIL's Bakery in Brighton… Clean, spacious, and reasonably priced proof that great quality doesn’t have to be expensive. The food? Absolutely delicious, with flavors that still linger in my mouth. I just can’t get over how perfect it was. The staff were all smiles, welcoming with such warmth. And the atmosphere? Simply wonderful ,calm, cozy, and instantly making you feel at home. Highly recommended!

Incredible bakery with fantastic coffee. Lots of choices of fresh pastries, and you can’t go wrong with any coffee you get. Each time I’ve been here, I’ve had a great experience. The staff provide a very welcoming and clean environment. I am particularly pleased with Timi and Maxim, who both provided excellent and friendly service. This is my go-to cafe when I’m in Brighton. I highly recommend!

We go to Gail's in Brighton every Saturday morning, the staff always smile, asking and caring for us, they make us feel like home! It's unbelievable how kind the staff are, how much love and effort they put every time we're there! I know it sounds like we're some sort of relatives, but we're actually total strangers who stepped in once, and coming back every week in the last 3 years! Having our regular coffee and mix it up with different pastry each time! There's not once, where things were not fresh or out of shape. ALWAYS fresh, always clean, always in stock.

Massively overpriced bakery. £4.80 for a chocolate donut- when I asked £4:80 ?? She said with a bad attitude “ yes it comes from Greece “ what it was made there and was flown over ??!!!

Dry, tasteless, overpriced, mass produced cake. Mostly air. Tea given to me with bag half falling out and dripping on the counter. Distracted service, not taken to where to pay automatically without asking cause staff too busy chatting. Only good part was the seating outside, wish other cafes here had more seating instead.

Huge variety of delicious baked goods! I had a gozleme which was fantastic, as was the coffee. Reasonably priced and very friendly staff.

The two women serving were both very dismissive and rude. We wonder if it was because we were speaking Turkish – which would be especially disappointing, given that we also have Greek heritage. While we were simply trying to choose from the selection, they constantly bickered and pressured us, and it even felt like they were commenting about us between orders. When we ordered two desserts, two coffees, and a juice, they claimed they had no trays, placed loose spoons on the boxes, and when the spoons inevitably dropped on the way to the table, they refused to replace them.

Ignore any bad reviews! I’m fussy, and this is the best coffee you’ll have in Brighton. Coolest staff and so many options for Greek food and cakes. The absolute best :)

Just moved to the area and me and the wife decided to go and try a cake. Some of the cakes have names that I haven't heard of before. A young man with light hair and blue eyes was serving and i asked him what was inside one of cakes and he said does it say what the cake is at the front of glass with a bad attitide. I said yes but I have never heard of this cake and wanted to know what was inside. My partner said we should leave she also found this extremely rude. Seems to be a problem with attitude in this place luckily there are so many other cake and coffee places in seven dials. If I was the manager there I would seriously look into employing friendly staff who have a passion for food not just a pay check.

Cakes were good, but in a take away plastic container even when you're sitting down. For £4.50 I'd expect a plate!

I am happy to give maximum points for this experience.

**Aka as middle class Greggs** Go to Puck around the corner as their coffee is aces and doesn’t cost £4. Gails is over priced, the service is rubbish and most of their food is stale & dry.

I usually enjoy the food and drinks at Gail’s, but the service at this branch is consistently poor. Staff often ignore customers and make you feel like an inconvenience for simply walking in. It’s an unwelcoming experience, and unfortunately not worth the visit. I’d recommend trying a different branch or another nearby coffee shop. Disappointing, would avoid this location.

Same style decoration as other Gail’s locations, clean, food well displayed, little coffee location ☕️ There are few little tables inside to enjoy your coffee and food. Quick service as normally in a Gail place. Good quality of bread. You can use their loyalty program, so you get a free coffee after 9 stamps.on the pricey side though.

I was excited when this came to Seven Dials. It is a a franchise and the staff have rather pushy sales tactics though "that is such a small sandwich you need another!" It's also set up in a way to make you feel corralled into purchasing. The prices are in very small print, I think they arrogantly think money is no object to customers. I was charged £19 for 2 sandwiches and a small salad at the checkout. Needless to say I did not buy said items and left. The store was also closing in 10 minutes and the food would have been thrown away! The fact they bake throughout the day means they bake more than they need and are discarding food, creating more waste and you as a customer are absorbing this cost. If you want to be looked down uppon as a consumer do come here.

Another new bakery is an addition to Seven Dials. A reliable chain bakery with delicious cakes and breads and good coffee. It can be hard to get a table. So not a place to linger long. Probably the best hot cross buns in Brighton!

I am so happy I have found this bakery! Your Gluten Free products are simply amazing, the seeded bread and rolls are the best ever. The chocolate cake is of very high quality, you wouldn’t know it was GF. Thank you so much for your local delivery service and your outstanding customer service. From now on you are my No1 bakery!

Very disappointed!, given 2 stars only because the sourdough bread was good but the Chocolate Raspberry Ganache is big let down. Very dry crumbly not moist at all.. Not enough raspberry. The other items had no end of date or storage details. Had to send emails to get information as no one answers the phone. Will not be ordering again.

This company markets some of their bread as sourdough but it’s fake sourdough. Similar to supermarkets, they add in a small amount of sourdough starter (so they can justify calling it sourdough) but rely mainly on adding yeast for a fast rise. Real sourdough need proofing for 24-48 hours which gives it the distinctive tangy taste and makes it more digestible for people with gut issues. Sadly local business lap up the ‘artisan bread’ branding and market it on as sourdough themselves for their £15 brunches (It’s likely sold cheaper than real sourdough). Unfortunately it’s an unregulated industry, but I won’t be returning to the two local cafes that use this brand. I encourage ethical local businesses to buy from real bakers like flour pot and real patisserie.

I ended up with 3 occasion cakes for my birthday from Coburn and Baker, they were all amazing...looked so professional and the taste and quality was something else. All my friends and family loved them too. Highly recommend.

I could not recommend this place enough if you’re treating yourself or a loved one to a fancy meal. I went last weekend for the first time in maybe 7 years (I’m not local to Brighton). All my past visits have been 10/10. I was hesitant that, like many things nowadays, the food would be lower quality and more expensive. I was absolutely wrong. We ordered the tapas for two people and then a few sharer bits, and literally stared at each other wide eyed with each bite we took. There is not one thing I could fault (as a Northener, I have to mentioned that their chips are possibly the best I’ve ever eaten). Staff were wonderful and friendly, and the decor has recently been updated so nothing but great vibes. I’ll definitely be back!

The food was INCREDIBLE. I don’t think I’ve eaten that well in a restaurant in years. The restaurant was nicely decorated with a nice ambiance. The servers were really kind, they did forget to send in our order, but when it did came it was well worth the wait and they gave us the entrees for free. All in all, it’s a spectacular restaurant, and I’m debating spending my vacations in Brighton only to go eat there :)

Chose to celebrate our anniversary here as my partner is vegetarian, and as a meat eater cannot recommend this place enough. We opted for the sharing tapas, with a couple of extra starters, amd all were delicious. Service was also top notch and we will definitely be eating here again. Highly recommended.

Superb food throughout and lovely service. We had the tapas. As omnivores we couldn’t believe just how tasty every course was. Y wife in particular wasn’t sure they’d be able to accommodate her dairy and gluten intolerances but it was clear they had no problem at all. Indeed, her slightly adjusted menu may have been even better (delicious sesame crisp). Great wine selection too!

This restaurant is a family favourite of ours. The staff are really friendly and make you feel so welcome. I am GF and there were loads of options for me too which is rare with vegetarian food. I was the only vegetarian out of 8 of us yet everyone commented on how tasty and different the menus is compared to other vegetarian food, so much variety. I recommend a visit.

Went for Octoberbest, blown away by the food and the service! Great with gluten free options and the food was some of the most exciting I’ve ever had - really punchy fish and chip flavours, lush aubergine and very impressive tofu

Went for a meal with a group of 7 friends. Had the set tapas menu and it was absolutely delicious! Perfect amount and selection - favourites were the harissa and hummus and the smoked tofu. Service was great too. Very friendly waiting staff, attentive and efficient. Would definitely recommend!

Not overly impressed. Coffee was cold. Only sparkling cold drinks available at breakfast time (ironic!), no juices. The bacon/sausagemeat roll was good. The rest of the food was weak and very overpriced. The younger staff were friendly and doing their best but the more senior staff were quite rude, as if it was a hassle serving us. Outdoor seats are very close to a busy bit of road with lots of vans. Overpriced.

I’d give this place 3 and a half stars. I ordered organic scrambled eggs on sourdough with avocado and mushrooms. Scrambled eggs were a bit odd and not favourable. The rest was okay. Seemed expensive at £15.80 for the portion size. I was asked 3 times if food was ok. I couldn’t be bothered to say eggs were bland. Small space but cute. Staff were friendly. If the scramble eggs were improved it would be so much better.

Cute spot in the lanes for a hot drink and sweet treat. They had a selection of cake by the slice on offer, we enjoyed the lavender cake and almond orange cake. They have a selection of indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating allows for some nice people watching.

Lovely cafe with quite a varied but straightforward menu. Something for everyone. The service was a little slow getting drinks but once we'd asked they were quick to sort it. The tables outside are close together so it can feel a bit squished. We went on a Saturday morning and it was very busy. The food was lovely! Portions were generous and the quality was really good. The coffee was lovely. If you're a coffee snob, this would absolutely suit!

Visited for a coffee last year and had an amazing brew, revisiting Brighton with good friends and a serious coffee lover I thought I had knew the perfect place. We decided to stop for coffee and breakfast but sadly after a 15 minute wait the coffee finally arrived only just warm, breakfast then arrived another 15 minutes later and just as the coffee was the breakfast too had elements that were barely warm. There was seven of us and 4 of our party had breakfast with sausage, 3 out of the 4 of us left the sausage as it seemed to be not just on the cold side but also had the appearance that it hadn’t spent much time in the pan/oven. Could it just be a coincidence that the one of us that did eat the sausage ended up being violently sick that evening ? It’s not difficult to cook a sausage but as you can see from the photo the trading post do have some culinary learning to do.

The English breakfast was good. The croque monsieur was a little dry. The bread was thick and it needed a bit more bechamel and cheese. The coffee was good as was the service.

I spent 3 days in Brighton recently and ended up eating breakfast here every morning. The coffee was outstanding! The food was great too. Over 3 mornings I tried the vegan rarebit, the plant-based granola bowl and the plant-based full English (minus the falafels & houmous as I didn't fancy that for breakfast). I also got a sandwich to take away - Korean BBQ mushrooms on foccacia. Everything was freshly made, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious.

Overall good coffee, food and experience, but no WiFi is a shame as the building reduces data connectivity to rely on 4/5G only. It was a challenge to send this review or download the TP app and had to go and get a better connection.

Nice, but not sure I’d go back. It’s a lovely space with kind service, and I enjoyed the experience overall—but for the price, it didn’t quite hit. The food was good, not great. With so many options in Brighton, I’m not sure it stands out enough to return. The biggest letdown was the matcha. I asked for it extra strong, paid £2 more, and could already tell by the pale color it wasn’t high quality. Watery, diluted, and disappointing. That said, the setting is charming and the vibe is nice—it just didn’t deliver enough to justify the price.

Very cute place. Got strawberry matcha and butcher's breakfast. Butcher's breakfast was a bit too salty/peppered to my taste, but otherwise good. I'd mix up a bit more of fresh bits into it to balance it out. Wasn't crowded at all on a Friday morning, while a few other places nearby were packed.

By rating this 3 star, I’m not saying that I didn’t enjoy this. The presentation and design of this place is stunning, and I would highly recommend going if you’re looking to get a decent brunch. I just wasn’t overly impressed by the flavours or taste of the overall meal. It was all style really.

We made a last-minute stop at this cute brunch spot tucked off the main street, and it did not disappoint. The service was so friendly, and the food came out quickly. I started with the matcha lime tonic, then we shared the eggs benedict and the veggie English breakfast... both were incredible! Every component was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Honestly, one of the best brunches I’ve ever had. Would 10000% recommend!

Wow! How exciting! Everything is a fresh take on simple dishes. Get thebtiger Prawns. The sauce is to die for. Truffle potatoes Crispy and Cod so Soft and flaky! Remarkable. Cocktails and wine good. Service very very good. Highly recommend

14th September £100 total What’s in a name? The short answer is quite a lot. For reasons of happy personal circumstance it’s a question very much front of mind at the moment; I’ve been picking my way through the thorny thicket of negative onomastic association recently (a particular moniker forever reminding me of a particular Monica, for example) and contemplating the plausibility of nominative determinism (is a child with the name of an old lady destined to act like an old lady from birth?). So yes Bill, perhaps a rose by any other name would smell as sweet, but that doesn’t mean that when Mich suggested dinner at Lost in the Lanes I was able to easily set aside my initial impression we’d be eating in a coffee shop. Because that’s what it sounds like it is. Even when I went online and looked at the menu and found evidence of proper cooking in the imaginative small plates there (see: salmon pastrami with gooseberry, samphire and peas), there was something inside me bracing itself for one of those ham and cheese toasties out of a plastic wrap. But I was quickly able to shed my slightly bizarre associative complex when we got there. Because it doesn’t look like a coffee shop - even though, mind-bendingly, it also is one - to the point I’m now wondering how I’d feel having a morning pastry in there. It looks modern and chic, with lots of open space, dried flowers and single bulbs on long wires hanging from wooden beams on the ceiling, a cut-out in the wall through to the kitchen - that kind of thing. And in the flesh the menu helped too, because there were about a million things on there I wanted to eat. We eschewed the large plates entirely, as much to save room for variety as any other reason, and before long there was no room for elbows on our little circular marble tabletop; in a bout of FOMO I kept calling the waitress back to add things to our order and rather than describe them all individually my overall reflection was this: sometimes sampling lots of little things can reflect worse on the standard of cooking than if we’d just gone olives-bread-starter-main. Comparison is, of course, the thief of joy, but when Mich and I are eating smorgasbords it’s absolutely in our nature to rank each dish against one another, and unavoidably there are those that don’t quite hit the spot as well as others. Negativity bias then perhaps leaves a feeling of lesser satisfaction than if the one big main had been served with the same quality as the average across a range of tasting plates. And there really was a range of quality in what we ate, I thought. The toursi tasted like the pickling process had sucked all the life and flavour out of the veg (and having figs in there was just weird), whereas the feta cigars and that first bite of bombette were perfect. There was a fair bit of middle-of-the-road stuff too. But then speaking of negativity bias, I ordered a cheesecake when I don’t usually order dessert, and… it just wasn’t one. It was a sort of chocolate mousse (with no mention of chocolate on the menu) layered on top of a bit of cream cheese, which I tried to scrape off and salvage, and no base. I left with that annoying feeling of unsatiated, unsatisfied fullness, and lost amongst that was any memory of the stuff Lost in the Lanes had done really well.

Lovely little breakfast spot in the Brighton Lanes. Reasonably priced as well. You may need to reserve as it gets busy on a Saturday morning!

I was quite disappointed by the place. First I want to say that the product was good quality and the service very nice but 1. The ambiance music in the early morning was heavy techno music, so way too much for me. It was not a nice environment to eat (at least for me) 2. The sandwich recipe was dry. I had the salmon and egg and indeed, there was nothing else in it. I suggest at least a sauce to make it tastier and less dry. The “Make your own” bagel did not have the “egg” as a protein option so I wasn’t able to choose that one. Other than that, the bagel bread was fresh and good.

Enjoyed a nice bagel for a brunch and was actually very impressed! I had the CBA (chicken, bacon and avo) and as far as take-away breakfast / lunches go, it was a blinder. The jalapeño bagel did just enough to add a subtle warmth keeping me cosy, and the whole sandwich, despite no mayo (out of choice) was moist and far from dry. The chicken and bacon were your standard sandwich quality, but toasted right there and then, with freshly cut avocado - can’t complain really! It’s a tiny shop and with prices being alright (though the extra charge for toasting is a little outrageous) the staff did a great job despite building queues. Polite, helpful and ultimately efficient, my experience was grand!

The most amazing bagels I have ever eaten! We stayed in Brighton for 2 days and came both days. Not just the food but the man who served us was amazing, made the food with such care and made us feel so incredibly welcome and was so nice to my children we had to go back the second day. Would highly recommend, will definitely be coming back when we come to Brighton again

The plus: super nice service, well placed. As for the rest: the gluten free bread is not baked on location and the one I had was completely stale. I came here especially to have the pleasure of eating a gluten free bagel and it was anything but pleasant. While they don’t charge extra for gluten free, at 9.30£ for this bagel it was a very disappointing experience. So I’d say go for their regular bagel but not the gluten free, it really wasn’t fresh.

Great choices including bagel type, filling, sauce and if you want it toasted or cold. Me and my partner really enjoyed this for a quick lunch. It can be a little expensive at around £7-11 per bagel and this is why it is marked down.

Lovely sandwich, the vegan and veggie options are great. However it lost a star for charging an extra £1.40 to have it toasted, rather cheeky to be honest. Maybe an extra 40p I’d let it off but bagels are traditionally toasted and it was already over £7. However, it is a nice place if you want to treat yourself.

We only come to Brighton a couple of times a year and always make time to grab BagelMan. Unfortunately it wasn't as good as usual today, the man serving us seemed pretty uninterested and the bagels seemed to reflect that. The bagels themselves were very nice, but the fillings were dry and quite bland. The coffee was very nice. £25 for two bagels and 1 coffee - wouldn't normally mind paying this for a premium product, but unfortunately it wasn't there today.

The bread I bought was burned! They said it’s the color because of the kind of flour, which wasn’t and it was burned! And taste awful So disappointed:( For not wasting we separate the burnt part as can be seen in the photo. Gail’s ! You shouldn’t sell the burnt products!

Best place in town for coffee. Kelly and her team are always so friendly and welcoming, and they make every visit a good one. The service is quick, the vibe is great, and you can tell they really care about what they do. Wouldn’t go anywhere else!

We love Gails, the food and drinks never disappoint. Highly recommend the quiche, along with the cold chocolate. For someone who doesn’t drink caffeine, it’s nice there is a fun drink on the menu for me. We also really enjoy the baked bread and purchase-able butter.

I don’t come here often enough, but when I do I always feel like I’m doing something great with my diet. They have so many beautiful fresh products, the pastries are sublime. I tend to go for the healthy lunch box meals. No1 espresso in hove! The team are also really friendly.

Got two chicken parmesan mini burgers and pistachio financiers. £20. The chicken was the smallest piece of chicken I've ever seen and carefully placed at the end of the burger to look full. There was more lettuce than chicken and that little tiny piece was super hard and inedible. I thought gail's was more expensive because of the quality but apparently was wrong. Super disappointed, never stepping foot again and telling everyone I know about the experience.

Such a lovely atmosphere and friendly faces every time I go for my lunch break at Gails Hove. The Sausage roll and hot chocolate are both personal faves and the helpful staff are a delight also. Thank you :)

The cake was not the same as ordered. I am very disappointed. I have bought cakes from this shop 2 times already, this time I am not very impressed. The service is very bad. There is no message confirming the order until I ask. The after-sales service is also very bad. A person named Hannah You speak very badly. Irresponsible, doesn't communicate well with customers If anyone is looking for a cake, I recommend going to another shop.

Very disappointed with the appearance of the advertised cake versus the delivered cake. For reference, I have uploaded two photos. The first image is of the delivered cake upon arrival. The Coco-Cola cake image is from Angel Food Bakery's website. I ordered the Photo/Image Layer Cake. The design of the cake on the website would have been perfect, and, to an extent, what I was expecting. However, the delivered cake is a poor attempt of what's depicted on Angel Food Bakery's website - no drips, multicolored sprinkles, and plain buttercream used in spades versus the high degree of colour shown online. In addition, the colours in the printed icing have bled. It looks as if the cake has gotten wet. It has not been cut yet, so I cannot review the taste or texture. Angel Food Bakery, please either improve the descriptions of your products (including photos), or improve your execution. This order has made a rather disappointing birthday cake. Update: the birthday person enjoyed the taste of the cake itself and the rainbow colours were very bright.

Ordered a vegan red velvet Photo/Image Layer Cake to serve 20-30 and was absolutely pleased with it. Communication with the team was made via email, text, and call, and at no point were there any issues - the only problem was that the cake looked so delicious we never got a photo before finishing it! But I wouldn't hesitate to order from them again. They seem very accommodating and personable, the cake was gorgeously decorated, the photo image print was great quality, and the taste - my god! - totally scrumptious. Really, so tasty.

Amazing cake, thank you! I ordered vegan birthday cake and it was divine. It was very easy to make an order, choose delivery date and simply pay. I did call few times to check if cake was coming, as it was my first ever cake order, and staff were always very friendly and helpful. I ordered lemon flavour, and although sponge could have been more lemony, it was still a very good sponge. We are still eating it after a day, delicious 😏

Ordered a mix of vegan and ' normal' cupcakes. They were absolutely delicious and so beautifully decorated. Fantastic customer service keeping me updated on approximate time of delivery. Cannot speak highly enough about this company! Highly recommend that you use them for any special occasion!

Went to Nanima for lunch today and it was delicious. They offer a wide selection of different, home made Asian food with a menu that changes daily. There is always something healthy and tasty. Been a couple of times in the past and it's always been quality. Unfortunately I'd eaten my lunch before I thought to take a picture. Some pics of the selection though. Great service too.

A wonderful place on a sunny lunchtime, with tables on the quiet street outside. The food is fresh, delicious and made with real care, with a daily changing selection of dishes. I had a grilled Szechuan salmon with noodles, crunchy raw veg and stir fried goodies, and a homemade lemonade. You can tell this is an establishment run with passion, and the staff are so friendly too. We are going to go back for their monthly supper club for sure!

A Hidden Gem That Feels Like Home – Nanima is Simply Unmissable While visiting me in Brighton, my Dad stumbled across Nanima - and after one incredible meal, he insisted we go back the very next day. I’ve lived here nearly seven years, and I can honestly say this is the best food I’ve had so far in Brighton. The meals are comforting, full of flavour, and clearly made with love. Nikki cooks in the back, creating magic in every dish, while her husband Lonnie welcomes you with warmth and genuine care, talking customers through what’s on that day! Together, they’ve created something truly special - more than just a meal, it feels like being invited into their home. We went back several times that week, and each visit was just as memorable. From the incredible soups to the chilli masala omelette wrap, fragrant coconut rice and vermicelli noodles, perfectly spiced mains and exquisite side dishes, homemade chai and fresh juices - everything was absolutely outstanding! Nanima is a rare find, and I already can’t wait to return.

We stumbled into Nanima this afternoon while having a drizzly wander through Kemptown. Spotted the soups sign and loved the fact it had the "s" on the end rather than just one soup, we were intrigued. It was a soupy day. We know the area pretty well but haven't been in to Nanima before, hadn't heard of it all to be honest but understand it has some following. Really enjoyed reading the other reviews before writing this. We sat by the door, there were a few tables reserved but it was fairly quiet. Understand it was a bit of a strange time to eat, so we probably caught it at an unusually quiet time, but this gave us the gorgeous opportunity to enjoy the environment and have the concept explained to us. There's no menu other than the food on display. We were talked through every option from both the veg and non-veg (meat) options but honestly soup was the one thing on our minds, or so we thought. We ordered the laksa and the butternut squash soup option. Presentation was lovely, my dining partner is an executive chef and she complimented the visuals asking about the colours. We were given a brief chat about the ingredients, which we really appreciated. We loved the soups. Genuinely delightful food, the flavours were both familiar and complicated. You know a soup is good when you don't need any bread with it. I decided to have a cheeky shakshouka to follow, it was again delicious but no runny yolk. This wasn't a problem though, just an observation. Interesting thing to have on the menu (although there is no menu) as it was the only dish that's not Asian. Again not a problem, just an observation. After reading through the other reviews we understand the comments about the service although we, personally, found the chap to be really nice and friendly although clearly committed to the concept. For example the couple next to us were moved and wiggled about a fair bit and there was a fella who left before being served for some reason. I feel if you're going in then you need to go in with time to enjoy the experience and an understanding that it isn't like a chain restaurant, not should it aspire to be. All in all, had a lovely cosy time and left with happy, full bellies.

What a place! My partner and I went for an early lunch and was pleasantly surprised! Lonnie and his wife have cultivated a unique dining experience where there is no fixed menu, meaning that every time you go, you get a surprise. I ordered the Vietnamese Pho, which set my day perfectly. A must visit!

Hidden gem in Kemptown village! This is the best Asian cuisine in the UK served by heartfelt, passionate people. Don't expect a menu as exquisite dishes are cooked fresh on a daily basis by Nicky. Husband Lonnie is handsomely hospitable and at hand to talk one through the quotidian delights. The best soup that I have ever tasted in my life was the 'Butternut squash, coconut and miso' until I invited my daughter to join me the following day when we were knocked out proper by the 'Panjabi Achari Gobi soup'. Off the scale!! Indonesian salmon, Burmese chicken, Keralan salmon, Malay noodles ... oh and the chai is like being back in India and the beers are lovely and I'm moving to live nearby because I miss the experience so much! I've been around the world but this was a diamond experience; not due to the close proximity of the summer susurrating sea (which was marvellous) but from the magic that Nicky meticulously prepares and that Lonnie generously delivers. Wow!

Such a welcoming space! Came here for a friends birthday celebration and they made it feel like we were part of the family. The selection of food provided was delicious and explained with such enthusiasm. Definitely will be coming back to try more as the menu changes each day. I’m never disappointed when I visit a Flour Pot location and try to make a visit everytime I’m in the area. I normally frequent the Sydney street location but it was a nice change to visit the 1st Av. location this time. The atmosphere was lovely, busy but well managed and the service was really good. We purchased their farmhouse loaf, eggs, almond croissant, passionfruit danish and some coffee beans - all exceptional. Keep up the good work guys ✨

What a fantastic coffee shop. Great atmosphere from 7am and the obvious regulars coming in for their usuals , reassures me that I have hit the jackpot of coffee shops for my trip to Hove. The pastries were so tempting - I went for a delicious croissant- fresh, straight from their bakery. The staff were all happy, friendly and professional- they all very much loved their jobs and working with each other. I will definitely be returning on my next trip to Hove.

Popped in for a drink - I had a peach iced tea and my partner had iced coffee. The drinks were really tasty and they have a wide range of breads and cakes - unfortunately did not have time to try any of these although they did have vegan options! I did not use the facilities so cannot comment on them. The drinks came quickly although we did get ignored when we first came to the till to order. Would visit again because I would like to try the cakes!

Cluttered between many shops at St.James street..this is a small but beautiful and calm place... The interiors are beautiful... They serve excellent bakery cuisine along with great coffees and teas... They serve pizzas, croissants, cakes, tarts, etc ...all fresh n tasty .. coffees and teas are made with love... Coffee consists of beautiful froth... The presentation at the outlet is very appealing... Service is also good... The quality and quantity is worth the price. Planning to visit soon ..

Their Croissant is really good, we tried chocolate and pistachio Croissant and both were good. They have pizza as well, there is 4 cheese pizza, margarita pizza, vege pizza, and tuna pizza. The cappuccino and americano coffee was also good.

We now go to this little cafe up St James Street every time we visit Brighton. It's small, unassuming and humble interior belies the truly immense selection of savoury and sweet selections that awaits. I hate big thick deep crust style pizzas and yet whilst those found here, at first glance, look like that, they are instead light and fluffy, with just the right level of chewiness and delightful flavours. The choice of cakes and pastries is immense, homemade and truly delicious. The coffee is of a great pedigree and tastes just perfect. Finally, the lovely staff are friendly, engaging and helpful. A true gem.

It is such a lovely Italian place. Serves fresh baked pizza 🍕 and great Italian coffee. Every time I'm in Brighton I go there for breakfast or quick snack. Food is always lovely. Pizza there reminds me pizza we had in Rome. Would definitely recommend everyone to visit this place, if not for food at least have a look at their pizza display 😍😍😍🍕🍕

Had good experiences in the past. However today I ordered a cheese and pesto toastie and they gave me a cucumber, tomato and cheese sandwich cold, I asked if they could toast it but they said "sorry we would have to make the whole thing again"... well don't advertise it as a bloody toastie then! Just wanted a hot meal before work, not much to ask. (Reduced to 1 star as I'm now starving at work and having to carry a cold sandwich I didn't even ask for)... laughable. Was going to toast it myself when I got home but it had no cheese and was full of guacamole which I hate. I'm actually fuming.

Nice atmosphere, friendly and local. I went in just before the lunch-time rush, hoping for a bacon and cheese turnover, which sadly they did not. Instead I got a breakfast turnover, which included Sausage, Egg, Bacon and Beans. Ignore the previous reviews, they obviously relate to the previous site (front side of the station). Decor is nice with indoor and outdoor seating.

A great little bakery. Everything tastes just a little better than elsewhere. The French Pudding is dangerous, one portion and you will be hooked.

Worth crossing over the station bridge for if you're ever in the area. Lovely cakes and desserts, the shortbread is delicious! Sandwiches and rolls are good too, they will make them up for you while you wait, there's a good selection of toppings and they're generous with the fillings. But definitely don't leave without a cake of some sort!

I loved going here for my lunch break, the desserts are delicious and the staff are super friendly. I know that a lot of people come from all over Hove to grab food from here so it can be quite busy around 12-1, but well worth the wait.

Always a great visit, whenever I am in Hove I make a point of visiting the bakery. Their carrot cake is just unbeatable, if you haven't tried it get yourself there. The staff are great and the bakery has a great vibe. Well worth the visit !!!

The best cake shop in Brighton! I come here regularly with my baby to enjoy an iced coffee and cake. The food is amaaazing and the staff are so lovely. The new location is honestly one of my favourite spots, it’s so peaceful and has a really relaxing atmosphere. The loaf cakes are fab 💖

I was very pleased with the team at Cielo Bakery, who provided cupcake jars for our charity event. They seem totally unfazed by my requests (vegan and "badgery") and were a pleasure to deal with. The jars themselves makes it much easier to transport the cakes and less waste, as people can more easily take them home.

I am always SO impressed by the variety of vegan options they have on offer. I've tried many of their baked goods and have never been disappointed yet - the coffee is lovely too 😁🌱

I have always loved Cielo, they do the best sweet treats ever. There isn’t a single thing on the menu that insta worth a pic on the ‘gram! Now they’re a cafe too? Could it get better, the venue is gorgeous and has loads of outside space. It’s walking distance from town and it’s totally worth it to be able to sit down and enjoy my Cielo! Amazing, can’t recommend this more highly. You should make sure you visit here if you’re coming to Brighton - even if it’s just a day trip. Their cookie pies, filled cookies and loaf cakes are stunning! It’s just a bonus that their savoury food is great too. Also imagine they do all of that AND cater for all dietaries?! Vegan AND gluten free brownies and cakes?? Could this place get any better! Thank you!

The Vegan almond croissant was the best croissant I've ever had (and that includes all those years before I was a Vegan). Taste, texture, size, appearance and price were top notch. Also had the Vegan the apricot tart - that was amazing too.

Desserts that are not very sweet are so precious in the UK. The fresh strawberries and apples make a superb fruit tart that is unbeatable. By far the best dessert I've had in the UK.

This is the best place in Brighton for a good pastry and the prices are really affordable. If you are ever at the Brighton train station you need to check this place, you won't regret it

You are spoiled for choice for bakeries in Brighton but Real Patisserie comes out top! My husband regularly just goes "ohhh that was a really, really, really good eclair" weeks or months after he has had one for Real Patisserie with a wistful look in his eye. I've not had eclairs this good in the UK and we love them so much we will be serving them at our wedding :) Edit: we have since had our wedding with the eclairs. So few left over my mum was actually disappointed as I think she was hoping to live on them for a few days! Great service and really easy to communicate with. Oh and really really excellent eclairs!

Absolutely amazing cakes—beautifully textured and delicious without being overly sweet. I've ordered several cakes in different sizes, and they're always happy to customise the sugar levels to our liking. The Banoffee and Pistachio flavours are especially wonderful and are family favourites! It's always lovely to pop in for a coffee and a slice of cake anytime. Excellent Honey Cakes made by Mary, we tried the pistachio and the classic honey cake and both were excellent. There is an upmarket cake shop in London , L’Eto which is double the price but I don’t think as good quality as Mary’s! Highly recommend and will be coming back! PS there were also very generous samples to try too.

Had the most gorgeous breakfast in this little gem of a cafe! Full breakfast and it was just so yummy 😋 real butter on bread, plenty of it. The sausage was so tasty as was everything else. Staff were welcoming and super friendly. We left with two bits of bread pudding to eat on the journey and a loaf of sourdough. If we go back to Saltdean one day we will definitely be having breakfast here 😁🥰

A very lovely little cafe with baked goods, that are also suitable for vegans. We asked for an iced chocolate instead of a hot chocolate and I highly recommend, that you add it to your selection of drinks. Thanks for creating this for us! It was so needed in this very warm day.

An absolute gem in Rottingdean. We had loaded gyros, and they were amazing, lots of lovely cakes too. Definitely worth a visit.

Particular to note the apple Danish is so nice. The stuff Superbe also cooked food. The owner has also added another shop in Rottingdean phone and ask for details.

This hotel was very nice. The good: very comfortable bed, large plush towels, free drinks on days that you choose not to have the maid in (you can still get free towels/ supplies at reception). Nice pub lounge area with great views. The less good: We had a twin room, but weren't told at reception or when booking that this was also a disabled room. No view from our room, but we didn't mind. The decor is a bit naff though, and could use an upgrade. All the cabinets etc are in excellent condition, but the colours and decor are showing their age.

A lovely hotel in a lovely setting in the Marina. Very modern and has a really nice terrace overlooking the rear of the marina. Only issues were: lighting in ceiling didn't work (we reported it but were only there 1 night) and the duvet was dirty but it was changed immediately after we let them know. A great place and would come again.

A few issues with there cleaning team, for a 4 star hotel they just need to do a bit of retraining and a checker for maid service. Front of house staff very helpful and dealt with all issues quickly. Room size was great and beautiful views 👌 We will stay there again

Brilliant hotel for a weekend in Brighton. Good location near bars and restaurants, perfect for a relaxing weekend away. During our stay we were greeted by Ibrahim on arrival. He was very friendly and accommodating during our stay. Nothing was too much trouble.

Have stayed a couple times as an emergency thing and have had parents stay multiple times while visiting me at uni. Very nice hotel, the room numbers all skip 13 which I find a lot funnier than it should be. Rooms are nice, one time there was black mould on my parent’s toilet, however staff at the desk were very apologetic and had a senior staff member resolve the issue immediately. The bar with a balcony looking over the marina is very scenic (but be careful of the seagulls), it’s been the same bartender each time I’ve been and he’s always been very friendly, will make conversation but isn’t pushy and is happy to make drinks that aren’t on the menu or will offer custom cocktails if you’re indecisive like I am. Overall, it’s a bit out of the way for Brighton but the quality is worth the short bus journey or taxi into the city

We stayed on Level 3, Room 321 (Club View) for a weekend getaway (£590 including breakfast). Overall, the experience was good, but it didn’t quite exceed my expectations. The main issue for me was the condition of the carpets. Just outside our room, the corridor carpet was quite worn with visible holes, which really let the impression down. Inside the room, there were noticeable marks on the carpet, possibly cigarette burns, near the balcony door by the lamp stand. The carpet itself showed signs of heavy wear in high-traffic areas. While the room was very clean (no complaints there), the tired flooring took away from the “feel-good” factor I was hoping for. On the positive side, breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and attentive service for hot food. The staff throughout our stay were friendly, well-mannered, and very helpful, which was much appreciated. I travelled mostly to town by uber booking.. there and back a bus service if you so wanted is also available. Free Parking was appreciated and Level 6 gives you good access to the property. I did notice some kids dropping glass bottles on our last day from the top floor when exiting the car park so just be aware of this. ( not reported) as going home. My advice to the property manager would be to replace the carpets in both the rooms and corridor areas on levels 3 and also consider refreshing the exterior paintwork, which is starting to show signs of wear.. In my opinion makes it look a bit shabby in places and unloved. Small updates like these would really lift the overall experience to match the quality of service provided. My experience was good, but concerned this was in no way value due money at £590 due to the condition of hotel property.. with so many choice’s of hotels to stay in Brighton, I’m not sure I would recommend at this time..due to the work required to make it Luxury.

Perfect little hotel at the Brighton marina. Far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the main pier that you can have a relaxing evening and get some sleep but still close enough you can walk or take the electric railway down every day. Very comfortable beds, excellent selection of channels on TV, great customer service. Only very very minor downside was that the AC is on a timer which made the room incredibly warm overnight but we also stayed during a heat wave, wouldn't be an issue during "normal" weather and you also need to recognize this is a hotel very focused on being environmentally friendly and saving on electricity. Would definitely stay again if we ever get back to Brighton!

Although I have been to the Hotel du Vin on numerous occasions for drinks, last night was the first time I stayed there. It really is a beautiful hotel. The room was spacious and well equipped. The bathroom was glorious and the bed was so comfy. It was a haven. I would like to thank Roberto, Eddie and Rufus for their professionalism, their kindness and care. It was greatly appreciated.

Standout service - staff couldn’t be more accommodating and friendly (rare in today’s toughened economy when service is often so patchy). Stylish throughout with nice touches in the rooms. Deluxe rooms get nice bedding, ours even had a small terrace, plus large bathroom with bath and walk-in shower. A great bar too…Having seen a few alternatives in Brighton, this is far and away the best hotel choice. Very easy walking distance to the Lanes and more too. Thanks guys

What a beautiful hotel. The room was gorgeous and looked much more expensive than what we paid for. All the staff were lovely, but a particular shout out to Bella for being so accommodating, helping me with our suitcases and even bringing up plates and cutlery when we ordered in takeaway. These little touches made the stay feel extra special. We had a wonderful time here, we just wished we'd stayed for longer!

My friend and I spent the day in Brighton at the weekend and stumbled across this hotel when we were looking for somewhere quiet to have a drink. It was almost a bit too quiet - for most of our visit we were the only ones sitting inside! But we really appreciated the luxe surroundings and being able to get away from the seafront crowd. And the cocktails, served with a flourish by the fabulous Eddie, were the icing on the cake. I was especially pleased with my negroni flight, which Eddie talked me through, and I was really impressed with his skill and the effort he made to provide such a good service. I don’t know if it’s always that quiet but I’d highly recommend this place for a nice drink and I’m looking forward to going back.

I am writing this review to thank Eddie, who was a Hotel Du Vin Barman at our private family party last Saturday. He did a fantastic job looking after everyone behind the bar, and was on hand whenever we needed him. I appreciated your effort Eddie — thank you!

We had a lovely stay and our room was spacious and good facilities. It was a special occasion and we enjoyed our celebration at your hotel. We truly appreciated the lovely assistance from your reception staff namely Bella.

The staff at this hotel were so friendly and the hotel is ideally located for the beach and city centre, however AVOID ROOM ADUR. Scaffolding is currently erected around the room, which aside from impacting the aesthetic is a landing ground for pigeons and seagulls. We were awoken in the early hours by the birds jumping above our heads; it felt like someone was constantly knocking on the door. A trip that we hoped would provide some respite was actually one with a restless, constantly disturbed sleep! Such a shame. We were also twice charged for drinks we had vouchers for, so worth double checking your bills. It is a lovely hotel, but didn’t quite work out for us on this occasion.

Disgustingly expensive. £3.50 for half a dozen eggs when the same product from the same farm costs £2.50 elsewhere. £5.50 for a kilo of courgettes. Genuinely staggering and insulting that somewhere that claims to be ethical would exploit people's guilt and good nature. If you're a posh toff then I'm sure you'll love it. You're not helping the planet if the only people who can afford to shop here are the most polluting class. Horrendous. Edit: You've completely ignored the part where the same eggs from the SAME FARM are 30% cheaper elsewhere. A dozen free range organic eggs from Sainsbury's are £4.50. Your eggs are almost twice as expensive, so spare me the platitudes. If fair prices are at the heart of what you do, then stop price gouging. It would be better for the planet for you to not stock courgettes at all. Charging a ludicrous amount for vegetables doesn't erase their carbon footprint. I also note that non-organic courgettes were on sale for significantly cheaper. Presumably you are exploiting those that grew them? Nothing in the shop is good value for money. The only people who can afford to shop here are the wealthy, who pollute more than anyone by orders of magnitude. You say you'd "hate" for people to feel excluded from eating ethically, but all of your prices do exactly that. Eating ethically shouldn't have to be a matter of class but you are reinforcing that. No mind though, so long as you get to be in a co-op and feel good about yourselves. What a joke. Thankfully, there are ethical outlets in Brighton that don't engage in price-gouging. You're right in that there's a better way to shop, it's elsewhere. I will not be coming back to have a "chat" with you seeing as your response to me is filled with boring platitudes and outright lies.

This place is an institution of the North Laine and there’s a reason it’s stood the test of time. Great produce, lots and lots of vegan and gluten free products, and you can always get a tasty treat from the bakery.

Amazing store for people like organic food, Vegan and Keto. My favourite selection is chocolate, bars and snacks. All products and packages are very good quality and organic.

Amazing shop , I was blown away by such a huge selection. I bought some of the raw seaweed tapende as a treat which I'm going to try with home made bread for the new moon. . I thought the croissants were a bit expensive at £3.80 each although it was delicious staff were super busy but helpful and friendly.

The Heart of Brighton. Came here when it first opened (1971). Fantastic shop full of organic local natural goodness. Vegan & Vegetarian. Fresh fruit and veg. Wonderful bakery, and much much more. Over 60's get a 10% discount on food. Easy access. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly.

A local friend recommended this shop and I was so happy she did! I was amazed to see vegan flapjacks, cakes and brownies in the bakery section as well as vegan pizzas. I went in mainly to see the organic, natural and chemical free products, there was such an extensive range to browse, I could’ve stayed in there for hours. I left with 3x homemade coconut soaps, colloidal silver, anti bacterial spray, 3x small bottles of hand soap, mosquito spray, a flapjack, a brownie and a raspberry and almond bun. All for exactly £44.44! I will definitely be returning to this shop and I’d recommend it to everyone.

One of the best shops I have been in for gluten free foods, I would definitely recommend the gluten free and vegan bakery shelves, with freshly baked goods. I bought two of the rice and tapioca loaves and will be back for more imminently. Thank you InfinityFoods for supplying such a vast array of gluten free options.

This is one of my favorite breakfast that I had on our trip. My friend had beans and toast, the beans were gigantic, and they did taste good. She really liked her breakfast. My other friend and I split the pancakes with Nutella and Biscoff crumbled cookies. And the avocado toast. Having both of these dishes together for breakfast was so delicious! I miss it already!! We sat outside and enjoyed our breakfast in the sunshine.

We visited Vios Cafe in Brighton on two mornings and absolutely loved it! We had the Smashed Avocado on Toast and the Beans on Toast – the beans were giant and delicious! Everything was spot on – the portion sizes, the taste, and even the presentation were perfect. Highly recommend this cosy spot for a great breakfast!

We had a lovely breakfast at Vios this morning. Service was prompt and friendly. Yoghurt bowl delicious. My cappuccino excellent.

Loved the vibe and the food was so delicious! Definitely recommend the Nutella pancakes and avocado toast. Coffees are great too! Great spot for a brunch - right in the middle of the narrow lanes that lead you to the Brighton beach!

Found this cafe in The Lanes when looking for a nice breakfast before the drive home after staying at the Leonardo hotel. Cracking little place, great coffee and pastries. Excellent, friendly service.

Gave our order of 2 extra hot oat lattes. We sat and waited and waited. Takeaway orders were taken and delivered and we still waited for ours. Eventually we got our order which were not hot. Sent 1 back. Mentioned the takeaways and was told all takeaways are completed first ! We said it was odd. The waitress argued the point to the point of rudeness. Asked her to stop. I explained that if there was a queue of takeaway orders, when would we get our coffee. Ridiculous and disappointing

I cannot but stop anytime I pass by this bakers. The bread is superb. A great selection of sweet and savoury snacks, cake and sarnies. The hot cross buns are fabulous. I've just picked a load, they're still warm and gooey, and I got in there just before the queue started to develop.

As we get closer to Easter, I stopped to pick up their signature hot cross buns today. I have been buying HCB's from here for nearly 20 years, and for the 1st time, I am disappointed 😞. They taste like the recipe had changed, and they tasted bland, lacking the cinnamon kick, lacking plenty of fruit and the special taste, and they tasted a bit undercooked. I truly hope this is not the case and I was just unlucky.

I have used Ravens for years. Having grown up in the area I still return when I am near. One of the very few good old fashioned bakeries left that bake onsite. Great bread, cakes and savories no frills just shelves full of fresh bakery goods. Especially the Chelsea Buns, Almond Shortbread Slice, Jam doughnuts and the hot cross buns just as they should be spiced nicely with plenty of fruit, a cross and a wonderful glaze. you can't beat it with some butter. Not like the wannabe unspiced fruit buns traded as Hot Cross by the batch bakeries supplying the supermarkets. They are so good you have to queue over Easter to get some. However, recently the jam doughnuts seem to be lacking, down to about a teaspoon worth of jam if you are lucky and these are bigger than your supermarket doughnuts. There needs to have enough jam in them to warrant being called JAM DOUGHNUTS come on Ravens what has happened to your jam? Its three strikes and you are out, this happened today even though I mentioned the lack of jam before, nothing has changed. You will still be my got to bakers but sad I will no longer be able to enjoy a lovely fresh jammy doughnut that oozes jam down your chin when you bite into it.

Raven's Bakery is a blast from the past where you can buy delicious and satisfying favourites without any of the mish, mash of highly processed ingredients in more expensive product's sold by the bigger stores. Best Hot Cross buns in Brighton worth queuing for every Easter. Have been coming here since I was a child and have grown up with Almond slices from this bakery and they haven’t changed a bit in 30 years still delicious! Great bakery

You can't beat ravens for a local bakery. Nice selection great prices! I love going in for a filled roll of some sort and a sausage roll. On a cold day having a potato dog warmed up is just what you'll want.

The food selection is what should draw you in here, with fresh baked bread, a plethora of both sweet and savoury counter goodies, from cakes, to pastries, to sandwiches, tarts and salads. So fresh and ever changing, it’s one of the most broad and tastiest food selection of any cafe in Brighton. It was heaving when I visited, but the staff did their best to stay attentive and it didn’t feel stressful - which was great! The coffee was pretty good, though not out of this world, but for the food and the bustling vibe of the place, 100% worth popping in. If you like the feel of a friendly neighbourhood cafe to meet up with friends or family for a catch up, this is your spot!

Stopped here near to the end of a shopping trip for some refreshment before moving on. The indoor seating area provided a welcome respite from the throngs of people outside, and the food was every bit as good as it looked. However the seating area had a kind of basic and almost grubby appearance to it. Debris on the floor and even the tables that were clear did not seem to have been actually cleaned. Tea and cake was presented in a very lacklustre way, that I have seen done better on numerous occasions elsewhere. If you want to stop feeling hungry and thirsty then a stop here will suit your needs, but don't raise your expectations any higher than that if you want to avoid leaving disappointed.

Lovely bakery that has loads of vegan and gluten free options. It’s really cosy and in a great location. Staff could be friendlier but all in all a great find for vegan treats. I had the vegan pain au Chocolat and the almond swirl. Both delicious!

Flint owl is my go-to for an afternoon pick-me-up. Brilliant service, delicious coffee, and yummy treats. Always got a chill vibe, so you can work, read a book or meet up with a friend and be able to hear each other. There’s almost always space to sit, even when it’s busy. Love this place!

Popped into Cloud 9 today and the choice of cake and baked goods was just amazing, almost too hard to pick! Settled on the rainbow cake which was delicious and a lovely cup of tea. Beautiful little place and looking forward to my next visit.

Ordered the vegan unicorn birthday cake with rainbow sponge over the phone for collection. The guy who took the order was so helpful, polite and patient. On collection the lady who served me was very welcoming and thorough in preparing the cake for transportation. Also very helpful. The cake was AMAZING and my American niece absolutely loved the look and taste of the cake and so did all the adults. A massive THANK YOU to all the team at Cloud 9.

We were recommended Cloud 9 for our wedding cake. Being both D&D fans we had a very special cake in mind and what the team at Cloud 9 created was beyond our expectations. Cake was delicious and deligghted all our guests. Friendly and professional team, met beforehand and helped us choose flavours and make a great design.

The atmosphere, vibe all great.. Amazing place for ice creams, coffees, cakes, milk shakes... tried their Belgian shake and Belgian chocolate ice cream.. and I have to say its marvellous.. the service is also excellent

I call Cloud 9 to order a bespoke birthday cake. I’d left it very late giving them only two day to make it, they told me it would be ready Friday 3pm. I ordered a Victoria Sponge with a picture of my girlfriend’s little Mini Cooper on the top. It was ready as promised, the cake it was tasty and moist and everyone loved it. Cloud 9 made our wedding cake and it was perfect! Knowing how good the regular cakes are from Cloud 9, we knew we wanted them to make our wedding cake too. The process was super simple, we went into store and chatted with one of the team who took us through all the options and discussed our preferences. We agreed there and then what we would go for and shared a few photos for inspo. The cake was delivered to the venue on the morning of the wedding and we couldn't have been happier. It looked exactly as we asked, and tasted even better! Thank you Cloud 9 team, it was amazing!

Bayon Bakery helped me pull off a dream marriage proposal. They truly went above and beyond and completely blew my expectations out of the water. Although they don’t usually deliver, after telling them of my brunch marriage proposal idea, they made an exception and were all in. Not only did they deliver the pastries, they took the time to wrap each box in beautiful red ribbon. We had the best time trying each pastry and felt like queens. Everything was delicious. The sausage rolls, the breakfast pastries, the croissants, the muffins. It was a dream and I am eternally grateful to the Bayon Bakery team. Especially Amber, who was so kind and communicative. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Oh, and she said yes!

We absolutely love this new bakery, they do the most delicious pastries and excellent coffee. The jam donuts are to die for and they make their own fresh bread which always look and smell incredible. The staff are lovely and it’s a really lovely spot. What is great is it’s right next to the station so we can’t not go there before our train to work. Highly recommend and a must to visit if you love all things pastry!

It is such a great place and I have been coming regularly for some months now. Today is their first year anniversary and they even gave us a celebratory donut! Amazing, absolutley recommended!

This bakery is exactly what this area has been missing. With everything made in-house, it’s truly impressive what they’ve accomplished in such a short amount of time. Their doughnuts have quickly become some of my favorites in Brighton, and their coffee beans—sourced in collaboration with one of my favorite local roasteries, Pelicano—are exceptional. The attention to quality here is unmatched, and while the premium pricing reflects this, it’s entirely justified. I’m more than happy to pay a little extra for top-tier, freshly made products, especially when I’m commuting and want to start my day with a quality coffee and pastry. While there’s certainly a place for chains like Greggs, this part of Hove deserves something more special—and this bakery delivers. I also appreciate their discounts for locals and residents, which I’ve happily taken advantage of! I’m thrilled to have such a fantastic business in the area and can’t recommend it enough. A big fan!

Absolutely love this place. Don't live anywhere near Hove but we often make the drive down just for these pastries :-) most things are an absolutely huge portion for a reasonable price (£4.50 for a huge savoury pastry literally the size of my head) - and the sourdough bread loaves available to buy are unreal too. I visit a lot of cafes but this has got to be one of the best I've ever been to. And the matcha is great! Just go! :-)

Lovely atmosphere, caring staff, the most amazing vegan pan-au-chocolate I've ever had and a silky soya matcha latte (and the matcha was not powdery!) so happy to have this lil gem so close to my flat. Can't wait to visit more and try other vegan options.

Lovely little bakery Delicious coffees and sweet treats. I see quite a lot of reviews mentioning in the price but I don’t think people take it to consideration that everything is home-made and fresh every single time I’ve purchased food it has always been delicious and very tasty. I don’t mind paying a couple of extra pounds coming here instead of Somewhere like Costa where their sandwiches are pre-packed and sat in packaging for ages. Me and my daughter love coming in here most mornings :) x

Great ambience, beautiful place, coffee is good too, and the baristas might all stunning, just unfortunately totally unfriendly and impolite. Don't smile, don't say hello or goodbye and everytime you talk to them it seems like you're bothering them. What a shame, the place does look great. Also food is very sparse and you can't expect a lot of choice. Main issue is the bad vibes from the people working there though.

Nice space, nice coffee but disappointing service. The staff are happy and smiley when they're chatting amongst themselves but when they have to face a customer there's no 'hello', 'please', 'thankyous' just a dead eyed look - and today, service in silence. I assumed it was just a bad day on my first and second visit but having been again is clearly the norm here. Today was my last visit. There's plenty of better options nearby.

Cute café in central Brighton. Convenient location. Outdoor seating available when it’s nice weather. Ordered a Chai latte and it was lovely.

I don’t get why some places over ranked by some people. They’re so organic that they don’t care about hygiene you can experience that the very organic laminate cups used by several customers. If you try to order star doesn’t care customer over their personal conversation so they’re so organic too. There is only one thing that front of the shop receives good sunshine. I don’t recommend if you don’t have any other choice.

Went in for a quick coffee and greeted by Ellie who went on to make me the perfect iced coffee.. with the perfect friendly service.. and ran after me with my bag I left behind.. Ellie is definitely a credit you!!

Had a chicken jalfrezi pie/pasty before driving back to London. Genuinely is the best pie I have ever had with massive chunks of chicken packed into soft pastry with a spicy, but not too hot, sauce. Delicious and great value for money.

Wow! Just picked up a Jalfrezi pasty from the bakery today. Can't believe I have lived in Patcham for 2 years and this is my first time. Couldn't reccomend more.

Best bakery there is, sausage rolls are to die for. those jam donuts too are just incredible.

Bought a Viennese whirl which was filled with a grainy sugar inedible buttercream, sandwiched between 2 under cooked foul tasting Viennese biscuits which we couldn’t eat. We also bought some pies which were below average. The standard of cooking is very outdated and the presentation is rather sloppy but bottom line it just didn’t taste nice at all and we ended up throwing in the bin 👎

If you have memories of what a bakery smells like, feels like and looks like from the time when it didn’t have to be trendy, expensive or modern then this is where you need to go. The bread is fantastic and the baked goods will make you dribble with anticipation. When these places are gone I just hope you took the time to seek them out and experienced the utter enjoyment of real life no nonsense unbelievably good baked goods and bread. My heart sings every time I visit.

This is a lovely small old fashioned bakery - a real little gem that I discovered on my walk. The sausage rolls were absolutely superb, and the two crusty bread rolls were delicious too.

The rudest women Iv come across along with the worst customer service skills known to man. They have made comments such as “can you be bothered to make this” and god forbid if you ask them a question you will get nothing but bad manners and rudeness in return. It’s quite unbelievable. You wouldn’t ever think we are paying customers. It’s clear they do not want to be there so it’s probably time to pack it in ladies. Also a word of advice: Treat people how you want to be treated yourself. It must be exhausting being so miserable all day.

Attended a bread-making course this evening which was fantastic. Learned a ton about baking in general and where I was going wrong before, just needed to trust the process 😅 brilliant evening and now I have plenty of tasty bread to keep me going for the week 🙌 thanks so much

I attended a wonderful cinnamon and cardamom bun workshop here for a work away day. It was so much fun and Simon made the whole experience really enjoyable and engaging for everyone. This is a fantastic, community-minded organisation and, most importantly, their baked goods are delicious!

There's a broad range of bread to choose from and the cardamon buns are a treat I'm always happy to have indulged in. Their bagels would be a breakfast sensation, if I could resist finishing them by then. Arrive early to avoid disappointment; this is a rightfully popular bakery.

As a first time customer I was warmly greeted - friendly staff, knowledgable of their produce. Delicious bread, and cinnamon pastry. Choice of bagels looked good too. Will return!

I stumbled across this shop when I was looking for a decent coffee in the area. Best discovery ever! The cheesecakes are probably the best I've ever had. You can tell they use good quality ingredients and put a lot of care into their products. The service is brilliant too, always very welcoming and friendly. If you ever have the pleasure of popping in then I would highly recommend!

A perfect village bakery and coffee shop with the most delicious cakes, breads, pastries and decent barista style coffee. I make a point of visiting this family run business in Woodingdean whenever I'm passing through to Brighton.

Aiste was able to make the most fabulous cake and was happy to add my own family angel to the top. The cake looked so good, modern but without losing that traditional feel. They are local to us and we are so glad we choose them. Of course it tasted fantastic! Please use them they are a great company!

I was made the most amazing cake for my mums special birthday. The staff are amazing , so professional, kind and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Have also had the pleasure of having coffee and cake in their shop which was also really good. Would recommend to everyone.

I ordered a Gluten Free celebration cake for our 30th Wedding Anniversary & it was not only so beautiful but it’s the BEST tasting cake ever! The service we received was genuinely kind, the cake was made with love & care & I would very highly recommend ordering a cake from this small run family business.

I was looking for some special sweet treats to have with colleagues in the office, so placed an order for vegan tiffin and choc chip / hazelnut blondie. They were both absolutely delicious and thoroughly enjoyed. The fact they were gluten free and vegan was a real bonus. Definitely recommend :)

Ordered my husbands 40th Birthday cake here after buying some Brownies and Bakewell which were amazing. Couldn't have been happier. Husband loved the Star Wars decoration and the whole lot was gobbled up that night. Would definitely recommend and order from here again.

Sarah baked a vegan chocolate cake for my partners 40th....it was amazing! Everyone loved it and she delivered it to my door that morning personally which was a great touch....honestly the best cake I have ever had and I am not a vegan but my misses is! Delicious cakes and treats, highly recommend trying Berkson Bakes. Fantastic treats that also happen to be gluten free. The salted caramel brownies are truly exceptional and my whole family are now firm fans! However the quality of all the cakes is superb, from stunning Bakewell tarts, Delicious chocolate cakes, yummy lemon and poppy seed cake to name a few. In short, whatever you choose you can't go wrong!

Hannah made two incredible birthday cakes for my Mum and my birthday. They looked amazing, tasted delicious and Hannah went above and beyond to have them ready in time. I'll always recommend and go to Hannah moving forward.

Hannah’s cakes are amazing. They taste delicious and the decorations are beautiful. We have been super impressed with all the allergy-specific options that are available, the diary-free cakes are particularly delicious! We have also loved attending Hannah’s cupcake decorating classes, both when our children were little but also attending the adult classes. So fun to learn a new skill and Hannah is a great teacher!

We provided Hannah a very vague brief for our son’s birthday cake and she produced the most amazing creation featuring all his favourite things. He loved it, we will be getting many more cakes in the future.

Omg, the BEST cake shop in Brighton! I can’t believe how delicious their brownies are, so much so I ended up buying 5 over my time staying in Brighton. I have to eat gluten free, and their gluten wise selection was not only really impressive but also tasted amazing! The staff were friendly and I loved the decor too. Just an overall amazing place, I’ve already recommended it to my friends and I can’t wait to come here again for some treats next time I visit Brighton :) thank you for the amazing goodies! Also bonus points for the Danny Devito cushion, that made me chuckle.

The last 3 times I’ve gone there, the Rainbow cake was stale and hard. I went last night, admittedly it was within an hour of closing, but I even asked to ensure the cake was fresh and not hard. She assured me it was soft and fluffy, but after getting home it was in fact also stale as the others were. If your speciality is cake, it should be a good quality sponge for the price of the cake pieces.

I’m very disappointed with my recent experience at Cloud 9 in Brighton. I usually order birthday cakes from Cake Box in Hove, but since that branch was closed, I decided to give Cloud 9 a try and ordered a 10-inch cake three days in advance for a special birthday celebration. Despite paying £75, the cake was unfortunately not fresh at all. It was dry and lacked the quality I was expecting, especially for such an important occasion. For that price, freshness should be a given. It felt like they were more focused on taking the order and making the sale rather than understanding how meaningful a birthday cake is for the customer. This was a big letdown on a day that should have been joyful. I won’t be ordering from Cloud 9 again, and I wouldn’t recommend them if you’re looking for a fresh, high quality cake for a special event.

Hello, Go in here regularly my partner went in today 08/08/25 my partner who is 4 months pregnant asked to use the toilet she’s was looked up and down and bluntly was told it was for customers only which is fine but just common decency I’ve worked in hospitality for 10 years never once have I refused a pregnant lady it just looks bad won’t be coming here again!

We used to like coming here when in Brighton, but the staff member today was unprofessional - eating on the job and poor attitude towards the customers in the shop. Was more interested in chatting with her friend than doing the job.

Lovely cosy place to enjoy a sweet snack or a drink. Had a range of coffee both hot and iced as well as vegan/dairy free options. Super friendly girl. Seating available outdoor and indoors. Beautiful and delicious cakes. Would definitely return.

Visited today for brunch. Food was delicious. So many delicious looking things to try it was hard to choose. Courtyard at the back looked quaint and appealing too. Service was very efficient, friendly and welcoming. Will return. Highly recommended.

Brilliant bakery in Lewes. Great bread and sourdough looked good too (I run my own bakery in Edinburgh!). Really delicious panini and I had a nice pot of loose leaf tea. Cakes and salads also looked delicious. We bought some organic veg from their farm for dinner. Pretty courtyard at the back where we sat in the sun. Friendly and welcoming staff. Would definitely recommend.

I ordered a raspberry bakewell. It was amazing. It was light, crumbly, not too sweet. The raspberries just had a hint of tartness to them. I have been on the hunt for an amazing bakewell for a long time. This did not disappoint. The service was also quick and friendly.

The best bakery in Lewes and always worth a visit. Great sourdough bread and baguettes, tasty cakes, salads and really good coffee. Dine in or takeaway you won't be disappointed and the staff are all excellent too.

We have had lovely lunches here, and bought some really tasty bread to take away with us. Staff were happy to share with us the recipe for the salad that we thought was delicious.

I like the fact that they are on the too good to go app , clean and spacious shop with friendly staff however the donuts aren’t too great even on a discount . Wasnt tasty or fresh to be honest . 1 donut is £3.99 full price which is a wow 😳. Not for me but thank you for the new experience .

We bought a berry and a salted caramel cronut. Both were delicious (although little dry even eating on the day of purchase) and the shop offers student discount.

Let's start with the positives....the staff were very friendly and helpful...both our coffees were ok...mine a black americano and my girlfriends a coffee with soya milk (no almond milk available)...the donuts though were a little dry and they seemed to have all been there for some time. We both really wish they were fresh as the taste was good, just a little dry and stale.

The doughnuts were disappointingly expensive. £26 for 9 doughnuts and 3 soft drinks!! The filling in some of them, especially the blueberry one tasted artificial. I'm not saying it was, it just had that kind of taste to it. They also had no ice cream available on the day which was a real disappointment for the end of May. There's limited inside seating and they do have a toilet, which was clean. The staff were friendly enough.

"The Zebra" 8 inch Giant Cronut Cake for our Christmas After trying their delicious baked (not fried) doughnuts in beginning of December, this time we go for their giant ones, is amazing!! In the future if needed to order a celebration cake definitely will order from Dum Dum!

Warm place, out of the cold! Staff were friendly and made for an easy transaction. Only had the one doughnut which was tasty. They also have coffee and gelato.

This place served the best doughnuts I’ve possibly ever had. The guy who served us was so nice. We asked if there was any cutlery on the off chance and he gave us some to keep if we wanted. Went above and beyond for us would recommend to everyone.

Wow had the best doughnut of my entire life here! The Dubai Chocolate doughnut is a spectacular masterpiece and I hope it stays on the menu permanently. It was chocolatey and full of pistachios, yet it was light, fluffy and not overly sweet. Glazed is dog friendly which is wonderful. Also tried their caprese panini which was delicious but could be better value for money if they added some vegan protein to it. A box of 4 doughnuts costs approximately £15. My one other feedback is to have prices on their menu and display box as there weren’t any prices written anywhere. The doughnuts could also be presented better in the display box with correct labelling of names.

Small cafe offering coffee and donuts, they had 3-4 different variety donuts on offer when I visited. I opted for the biscoff flavour which was delicious. Genuinely one of the best donuts I’ve had and very fresh. Oat milk used for drinks, not sure if other plant milks are available. Nice vibe and staff were super lovely.

The donuts were absolutely delicious! I went with a friend in my lunch break and we tried the oreo ones. I took my family on the weekend and we tried the biscoff and sprinkles ones which were also divine. The coffee was great (they had special Colombian coffee that day) and we also had the vegan sausage rolls which were really yummy. Highly recommend with kids as you can then take your coffees and donuts and head over to the Level to the park and the water fountains.

Truly NEXT LEVEL, you cannot tell that the donuts are vegan at all as the dough is so spongy and tasty. The vegan BLT stole my heart. The nicest family owns the business!

I have heard mixed things about the Flour Pot chain but always walk and past and think it looks lovely, so I decided to give it a go! The atmosphere was buzzing, being very full on a random Thursday lunchtime, people chatting, working or dining solo. It was very pleasant and the bright and airy decor made for an excellent vibe that you feel pretty comfortable in. I was seated pretty fast given how busy it was, and despite the service being a little blunt and inattentive, overall my experience with the staff was good. The coffee was great. It not only looked great with some brilliant latte art, but tasted it too. The beans and barista must both be pretty good, because I thoroughly enjoyed it. That being said, the food, especially for the rather high prices, was a let down. I ordered the Mexican Benedict, expecting an exciting and innovative take on the classic. Though the eggs were packed perfectly, the dish just lacked seasoning and excitement, and I was left very hungry after splashing out over £14. Everything was well made enough, but completely missing any wow. I followed it up with a carrot cake as a result, which was divine. Flavoursome, chunky and filled with nuts and seeds, this made me a happy boy to end my visit. All in all, there’s not much wrong about the Flour Pot, it’s a great atmosphere and lovely place to be, with outstanding coffee and alright food. There’s places in Brighton that are really worth the trip and the money, a little more so than here though. It’s defo worth a visit, but I’m undecided on whether I’ll be back or not just yet!

However, I’ve been here before and have met team members who were kind and smiling, so I know the service can be much better. The espresso had a light, bubbly crema that only formed around the edges, and the flavor was sharply citrusy and felt thin. This suggests an under-extracted shot, possibly due to uneven tamping or grind issues. It was only a medium experience.

The coffee and food are good, though nothing memorable (and overpriced). Unfortunately, the staff make you feel like you're bothering them by placing an order. I've gone four times in the past month (since it's so close) and it's like this every single time, with every person I've interacted with. It's like a clique you're on the other side of and the bored, apathetic, annoyed vibe they turn on when you get to the register is super lame. I won't go back again or recommend this cafe. Tilt is a much better experience, go there, its right around the corner.

Had waited an inordinate length of time to be shown a table while 5 members of staff stood around chatting. I had to go up to the till to get attention. My wife got fed up waiting and sat herself down at one of the many empty only to be reprimanded for not waiting to be shown to a table. This insult added to injury was the final straw and we left. Soviet style customer service. Poorly managed. Kids who’d rather natter than take the job seriously. Tilt cafe round the corner has a far better atmosphere and friendly customer service. And the coffee is better (Monmouth).

Poor service a couple weekends ago. We had an unfriendly welcome and then our cheese and tomato croissant was bought out to us fridge cold after we’d asked for it to be heated up. Cinnamon bun dry too. Coffee was a 5/10, the texture of the flat white wasn’t right. I don’t think they hire experienced staff here. Much better coffee spots in Brighton, would sooner check them out than go back to Flour Pot.

One of my favourite brunch haunts in Brighton, this place is always bustling and rightly so. Delicious brunch options, tasteful vibrant decor and a bakery where custom where customers can purchase anything from sourdough to a brioche. Recommended!

Really like the brunch food here but have been disappointed with the service every time I’ve come here. No proper welcome when you sit down, I’ve been forgotten completely and found it really hard to get the waiter/waitresses attention to order and had items that we ordered missed completely. Cake and fresh bread is amazing though and hopeful each time I come that service will improve as would take much to make this spot much better!

Real Patisserie is easily the best café in Hove, there’s a reason it’s always buzzing! The staff are so warm and always up for a friendly chat. Special mention to barista Maya who makes a fab latte. And the apple danish? Honestly the best I’ve ever had.

I had a very good lemon meringue tart and probably the best chocolate-filled donut ever. Service was great, they were friendly and patient considering I took a while to choose (because everything just looked so tempting). Probably best for takeaway because there was a lack of seatings.

Just had our first ever galette and it was absolutely delicious, perfectly flakey pastry, creamy and sweet almond frangipane, and the most adorable little charm hidden inside! Yummy! Xxx

Genuinely the nicest staff and you cannot beat their pastries. I went in for a coffee and came out with the nicest cappuccino and chat from the girls behind the counter where they answered all my questions, from bread to tarts - great products, great service.

In my opinion the best bakery in Hove and also the best value. I've been coming here for a while and have sampled a lot of items: the bread is excellent, and the sandwiches are very good (especially the focaccias). The best items (for me) are the heavenly fruit pastries and fruit tarts, and the ridiculously moreish almond bites. They are also very competitively priced considering the quality and the competition in the area.

So surprised! I ordered 2 pains au chocolat : undercooked. They used to be so crunchy and nice and today it was just soft and mushy like the supermarket one. Also the financier/almond bite there was a burned one in the sachet.... not the standart and quality I was used to.
