Great food in a relaxed setting by the river. Some parts of the terrace seemed very nice to spend time, while others are a bit more cornered. Make sure to ask when booking! Food was delicious and portions were very generous. Staff was friendly and the cake selection was quite impressive!

I visited this restaurant while traveling alone, and without a reservation. The staff kindly seated me at an available table, and were attentive and welcoming all night. Paulo in particular helped me understand the menu, select items, and chatted with me. The food was delicious. A wonderful experience overall!

The service here is horrible. The waiters act and speak like the clients are below them. Went there at lunch times. The food here is just as bad as the service. How their ratings are so good is beyond me. Tried 2 different dishes and both weren't anywhere near decent. Their desserts looked good but after eating the meals ordered, this wasn't even a thought. First time in Switzerland that I've not finished my meal. Personal suggestion - give this place a pass even with their high ratings!

Restaurant is small and packed. Once they assign you a table even other tables are available, you could not request to change table as the elderly waiter said they were all reserved and put the reserved sign immediately. By the time we finished lunch after one hour later no reserved tables are occupied. The Duck breast was cooked too rare and we cannot chew and swallow it. However, the Sea beam and vegetables were good though. May be it was close to tourist spot so it is kind of over priced.

Lovely Ambiente under ancient horse-chestnut trees. The food is exquisite, served by friendly and attentive staff. The only drawback is the road that passes, its a little loud.

AVOID BACHMANN AT ALL COSTS! Now fully regretting I didn't read the reviews that the staff are INDEED RACISTS! First, I was a paying customer. I bought 2 OVERPRICED mediocre-tasting pastries. Second, regardless of being a paying customer, everyone has to pay 1CHF to use the toilet (which in my opinion, is a basic human right). Finally, after eating the pastries I PAID FOR, I asked for water from one of the staff because I saw him handing over glasses of water to the eating customers. But, he looked at me up and down and said a quick 'No'. I went over to a different counter where I paid for the damn-nothing-special pastries to ask for the stupid tap water. She had a long 'hmmm' from a staff at the counter (while veering at me up-down left-right). After saying I paid for my pastries here, only did she half-refilled my tumbler. LIKE SERIOUSLY? They didn't have to spend anything for washing glasses, I offered my tumbler even, for a damn tap water! For the love of God, just don't visit this place!

We went to Bachmann Confiseur in Lucerne because it looked exciting with lots of people inside. There were so many yummy chocolates, cakes, and cookies to choose from! We couldn't resist buying a small cake and some macarons, even though they were expensive. But wow, they tasted so good! We ended up eating all the macarons before we even left the store. Even though it's pricey, Bachmann Confiseur is worth it for the delicious treats. We had a great time there and left happy with our sweet treats from Lucerne!

Don't give their hot chocolate a try. It's just hot milk with maybe a coffee spoon of some powder that barely changes the color of the milk, let alone the taste.

The young lady she made mistakes in my order and insisted not to replace the muffin, theny I have to pay one more time for the cup cake.

It's one of the best confectioners/bakery I know in Luzern. Their cakes are excellent, and the choice of chocolates, muffins, and other Swiss delicacies are absolutely mouth-watering. A wide range of breads, buns, and croissants, along with ready to eat salads, is exceptional. I love going here.

This is a modern cafe with a cozy vibe. Our waiter Sabi was very kind and gave us excellent service. The extensive menu was fun to look through, with many great options, and the presentation of all the drinks and food was amazing. The flavor of everything was very fresh! We happened to chance upon this beautiful little spot while wondering the streets of Lucerne craving pizza. Such a lovely place with a great selection of food which tasted great. We were so well looked after and service was fast with an atmosphere of relaxed elegance.

One of the best bakeries In Lucerne with very friendly staff. We went last year and this year again as Lucerne came again in our travels. The quality of food and choices has stayed the same. We went without reservations and they accommodated us. Some nice variations on sandwiches ! Excellent sweet pastry variations too.

The food was great, and the staff was really, really sweet! He spoke English and was very friendly — plus, I forgot to pay and left the cafe (💀💀) and when he caught up to us to tell us, he was super understanding and funny. I offered to tip for it but he was like, “No, no, it’s okay, it happens”. Plus, the woman at the counter was also very nice. Overall, LOVE this place, the environment and atmosphere is also lovely and just general great place (good coffee as well). 10/10, recommend!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Probaby my favourite bakery in Switzerland. I love the idea ro avoid food waste and I love even more the prices. My brother and I got 3 tasty sandwiches 2 dessert optioks for 13 franks. Very affordable for an expensive city. The service was lovely and the lady serving us was patient with us in English and explained all the different options. There was a small seating area too. Overall great vibes, great food and great prices. Highly recommended.

I have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of Apfelgold coffee joint in Bern, Switzerland. Fantastic coffee spot in Bern! The atmosphere is incredibly cozy, with communal tables and plenty of people reading—an ideal place to relax or even strike up a conversation if you’re feeling social. I tried the apple crumble pie, which was absolutely delicious—made with high-quality apples and evoking the comforting taste of a homemade dessert. The pistachio tartlet was another standout, featuring a rich pistachio paste filling and a crunchy pistachio crumble on top. Both were truly delightful. The cappuccino was also expertly made, complementing the pastries perfectly. One minor suggestion: for the apple crumble and large pie slices, slightly bigger forks and knives would make them easier to enjoy. But aside from that, everything was excellent. Highly recommended for great coffee, amazing pies, and a warm, inviting atmosphere!

A friend brought us croissants from here and I was very surprised at how bad they were. They didn't seem very fresh, not at all buttery, not even crispy. Essentially just bread in a croissant shape. Really surprising for a Swiss bakery. Also got some berner brot which was good, but a bakery shouldn't be selling croissants like that

It is ok but croassant was a bit crunchy. They use the dou similar to what Balkan people use and Turkey, so it is diferent type of pastery. But maybe it is just my taste. I also tried a cupcake it was super suggary, super dissapointing. Bern and pastery doesnt seem to work well. I also had a birthday apple quark cake from here and it was just okis. Not very happy with it. Place is sweet but so little number of tables inside, ans it is always full. (The answer that it is in purpose like that just comfiemes the coldness of this culture, whatever). Shame because my husband and I had our 1st date here so I like the place but food is just not good, sorry

Lovely wide selection of cakes and pastries to eat in or take-away with friendly staff near to our hotel. Better than anything that we have found in central Bern and prices more like expected in UK. Not 'posh' but many places here aren't anyway unless you pay the earth!

The quality of bread and pastries is subpar. The bread is lacking crust and crunch. Texture is carton-like and the croissants are burnt and dry.

After a long walk along the banks of the River Aare today, we decided to check out the much-hyped Gelateria Di Berna for some ice cream. It’s one of those rare spots in Bern where people actually line up to order—quite an unusual sight here. We joined the queue and got our turn after waiting for about 15–20 minutes. They had a wide variety of flavors to choose from. I went with a mix of Pistachio and Chocolate, while my colleagues tried Panna Cotta, Alphonso, and a few others. The pricing was reasonable—CHF 4 for a small and CHF 5.5 for a large. Overall, while the experience didn’t quite live up to the hype, it wasn’t disappointing either. The ice cream was good, just not extraordinary. The staff were friendly and helpful, offering suggestions along the way.

good gelato with a lot of fun flavours but not the friendliest service. rushed us a bit and talked rudely. also the portions were very small and they even scraped off some ice cream before giving the cone to me. sad… but the dark chocolate sorbet was immaculate i must confess!

Very long waiting times and i could accept that if the Gelato was especially good. But i have to be disappointed. It was Bland and the Portions were Small. I ordered some of the more "Special" Flavours, if you can call it that and there was very little of the advertised Aroma Present. For example i ordered Strawberry Balsamico which i Still remember to be disappointed by sometimes. Go if you want. Theres probably also some good Gelato on their Menu. Just don't expect much...

The kurkuma latte was good but the cookie could have been better to my liking. The decaf coffee was very good. The staff is very fast and professional. They have many options, and bread too. I would give it 5 stars if it wasn’t for the price. The space is very nice and they open on Sundays

best iced coffee & slowest service in town. Except for when a few competent people are working, you'll stand in line 10+ minutes for a coffee, and the line won't have moved forward even 1 person. So go when you're not in a rush, the food and beverages are great!

Great Beverages and Food, great location and Ambiente. Sunce its close to the University it tends to be quite full, yet a great place to study. Theres many seats and poweroutlets (also free Wifi) So far the workers were always friendly and polite even if it was packed and busy, will definitely come by again.❤️

Food is good- on the expensive side for bakeries but good quality. However just to note dogs are not allowed - so not a convenient bakery to buy something while you’re on your lunch break. Easier to pop in to a standard bakery.

So many great bakeries in Bern. This one is one of my favorites as it has a few products I really crave for ;) The Baumnusstörtli is the best (if you like that type of pastry) and is price-wise excellent.

Delicious pastries, cakes, and the best chocolate buns in town. The stuff is incredibly friendly and kind.

The stars are all for the prune truffles. They are worth the high price. The champagne ones are not as good, and I have never tried the baked goods. I am writing this, because the top reviews don’t mention these confections. Don’t miss them if you are visiting! On my next trip to town, I will have to try a pastry based on the reviews of others.

Went on a Friday morning and ordered two croissants. Both were so stale they were inedible. Couldn't believe any bakery could sell such bad quality products.

The place offers exceptionally poor service, with a bias based on customers' personal look and color. The employees display racist behavior, making customers feel humiliated in a public setting. I was the first in line but was repeatedly ignored, while the staff attended to three others behind me, laughing each time. I certainly won't be returning to this bakery.

A charming and clean bakery offering delicious take out and eat in menus. Very popular with students from the nearby learning establishments as well as locals. The staff were smiley and helpful. The pastries I ordered were light and fluffy and the coffee was just to my liking. I'll definitely return.

The vibe was not quite as welcoming. Walked to buy bread and the two ladies behind the counter looked bewildered. Our German isn’t the best, English did not help. Many other friendly places to grab bread and pastries. Skip it.

Had the quiche and hazelnut cake. We didnt really like the hazelnut cake as it had some other sweet thing apart from hazelnut in it. But the quiche was great. One of the best quiches ive had. Really quite appetising and tasty. Egg wasnt too overpowering, and spinach was balanced. A great quiche.

We had breakfast at this wonderful local bakery during our stay except for Sunday (they are close on Sundays). It is a few minutes from the hostel. They have a wide array of inviting pastries, sandwiches breads and cakes. They also have some muesli and salad. Coffee is as it should be - strong and smooth. Their cheese quiche was my absolute favorite out of everything I tried. Staff is warm and friendly. Their prices are pretty reasonable for Switzerland. They give you the option to sit inside or outside. They maintain both inside and outside well so it’s really up to you. As for us, we couldn’t resist the idea of sipping our coffees and enjoying our quiches with the amazing backdrop all around us. I wish we have a great bakery such as Steininger in our town. I couldn’t recommend them enough.

We stayed at Funny Farm Backpackers just across the street and grabbed breakfast from here every morning before taking the bus just outside the shop. All of the food we tried was delicious, but especially the cheese quiche and the freshly made orange juice!

The swiss sausage roll was sooo fresh and flavourful. Love their bread and the service staff was so patient in explaining us the sifferent breads!

One would be making a huge mistake not dropping by this incredible bakery. It's worth dropping by even if you are in town. I understood that it was highly rated and it did not disappoint. I recommend trying their apple strudel. The sweetness of the apple goes so well with the flaky outside crust. Their breads are fantastic, basically I could go on and on. I didn't love their coffee however. Or at least avoid the milk based options.

While younger staff members generally exhibit warmth and courtesy, those over the age of 30 consistently demonstrate unfriendliness, especially towards non-local patrons. This disparity not only detracts from the overall dining experience but also undermines the cafe's reputation as an inclusive and welcoming establishment. Every patron deserves to feel valued and respected, regardless of their nationality or background. I am very disappointed with Rachel's behavior.

Most stylish and cool coffeehouse in Biel! All dishes, including the sweets from the shop, are the highest quality, team most friendly and professional and generally atmosphere there is like being in book store or library, where you meet authors, journalists and musicians. Very popular place by Bieler folk, so sometimes you'd have to wait a little to get a table (for lunch). I personally recommend trying their fresh juice, a fruit pie, and "canapés.

So I went back & gave it another try on several different bread. Gipfeli is not bad but very small, probably somewhere around 43g or so, Zopf is very good, a good amount of butter, moist, a little bit on a salty side. The dark bread had an exterior very hard, very difficult to chew on even though I got it around 10:00 am. ——————- They charge a salad 19 CHF that doesn't have any piece of meat. Cappuccino is 5.50 but very average, the bread is good but some of them goes up to almost 5 CHF for 400-500g.

We had a group of 4 people and we wanted to sit for a drink and to share a cake (as we were not hungry). Two of us went inside and took what we wanted and paid. After paying and returning to the seat the waitress came to tell us we can not all sit as we did not order enough for 4 people. She did not let the other two people sit unless they order and only allowed two to sit at a table for 4, as we only ordered enough for 2 (I do not get the logic as we anyway occupied table for 4). This was so rude so we took our stuff and left. Ridiculous service. They even had a few other empty tables. Cake was ok but we had to eat it on the way.

The quality of their baking is as good or better than anything I've eaten in France or Spain. The flavors range from subtle to strong depending on the item. You can taste the freshness and distinguish the individual flavors as they should taste, not masked by artificial flavors or overly-seasoned/sweetened. They also offer chocolates that are exclusively made in Wengen, local honey, and they even had locally produced apple juice. This is a business that clearly cares about quality and supporting local suppliers.
