The food was absolutely phenomenal. The steak was one of the best I've ever had out of hundreds of restaurants. Homemade bread also really excellent. The meal, food, drink and atmosphere are definitely amongst the best in Sarajevo. A reservation is definitely required, about 50 people walked in during my 2 hours in the restaurant and none were able to get a table. But it's worth it! The only downside is that cards aren't accepted.

What an amazing experience eating at Dveri. We had to wait for a table for a bit but when we sat down and eat our food we understood why the place was so popular. The dishes were so tasty and we had the best sopska salad of our entire 10 day trip. We found the curry and goulash to be very tasty and flavourful. I recommend.

Dveri was an absolute highlight of my trip to Sarajevo! I loved the meat platter, the tomato salad, the aubergine!! Who knew the humble aubergine could be elevated to taste so good? We also had the steak, their famous homemade bread, red wine and the baklava. Everything was top notch with fresh quality ingredients! Recommend making a reservation as the place is small and cozy.

I went here twice with my Filipino friends - the best customer service and the food. From the homemade bread, kajmak, soup, vegetable and veal soup, polenta, goulash and chicken curry. Top top! Highly recommended.

Really tasty Bosnian coffee, friendly people and a cool rustic interior. Beautiful little terrace situated on the hill for ideal people watching and enjoying the street vibe, but i preferred to chill inside and enjoy the company of this sleeping kitten. Sort of makes for a makeshift cat cafe vibe. After coffee i tried one of their house specialties, the rose sherbet and it was very tasty! Great spot that’s open late and in the heart of everything on this side of town.

A very nicely decorated café. The tables are old sewing machine tables. It's still located in the old town, giving it a completely different feeling. Since it's a bit higher up, you can enjoy the view and the street atmosphere. The Bosnian coffee was delicious, and the rose sherbet was very pleasant. The staff were very nice and friendly. The evening feels even different.

Such a cute coffee shop on a beautiful street. Authentic Bosnian coffee and such sweet staff. Great place to relax away from the business of the old town. But close enough to still people watch and slow down :) Amerlena was so kind to us.

I had high hopes for the cheese burek, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite meet my expectations. On the other hand, the Bosnian Manti was a delightful surprise and truly enjoyable. I appreciated the reasonable prices and the quick service, though it would have been nice to experience a bit more warmth from the staff. Overall, it was a mixed experience.

Absolutely the best Burek I've had in Sarajevo, we came three days in a row for dinner to this place, and again when I returned to Sarajevo. The food is amazing, with vegetarian and meat options for customers. The seating is indoor and outdoor. It's the same shop next door, so you can also go to the toilet inside the other shop. Friendly staff, too.

It tastes 20% how a pita really tastes… It is really an industrial🏭 pita nothing more… The joghurt on the pita was thrown on it and lot like it must be done: elapsed on it. Location i cool. A café with a very elegant and pleasant atmosphere. Allowing us to bring our own food was a particularly kind and thoughtful gesture. Although the Turkish tea we ordered was brewed from loose leaf tea(Kaçak çay🙂), we really enjoyed its taste with our friends. A cozy spot for nice conversations — definitely recommended!

Wonderful authentic coffee experience Definitely recommend opting for the Bosnian coffee for a lovely authentic experience. It's served in beautiful copperware. The interior is super nice, and the little terrace is located on a not so busy little street, it felt like a hidden gem. Very clean bathroom, which tells something about their standards too. As a tourist passing through Sarajevo, I decided to try Mrvica for breakfast, but unfortunately it didn’t live up to expectations. The food felt lackluster and not particularly fresh—almost as if the kitchen just threw a few random items together on the plate. The coffee was equally underwhelming, nothing memorable or worth coming back for. To be fair, locals may see this place differently, and I respect that. But for me, breakfast at home would have been leaps and bounds better than what I had here. Overall, I walked away disappointed and wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re just looking for a very basic bite to start the day.

Best cafe in Sarajevo and great location on the way to the airport. We had breakfast there right before our flight and it was great as usual. Would recommend the eggs with salmon if you like smoked salmon, otherwise the Eggs Benedict is amazing. Of course we couldn’t leave before having coffee with their amazing San Sabastian cake.

As much as I’d love to give a glowing review—because I truly enjoy the combination of cevapi, onions, kaymak, and fresh bread—it pains me to say I left feeling disappointed. While the service feels fast-food style, that shouldn’t mean less care. Given the busy location, efficiency and quality could be much better.

Very tasty ćevapi, complemented by the kaymak and homemade ayran (which had a thick, creamy texture). The service was very friendly and the lady who served us even offered to take a group photo. Everything was reasonably priced as well.

Quality of the ćevabi kebab is very low compared to two years ago. Not as tasty as in 2020. We used used to look forward to it every time we visited Bosnia. But after today's experience, we will not go again. The staff is mixed. Some are friendly and some are grouchy.

first tried cevapi somewhere else and absolutely loved it, so I was excited to check this place out after seeing it ranked as one of the top-rated spots in the area. It definitely lived up to the hype! The food was delicious, authentic, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Even though the place was a bit cramped and quite busy, the service was impressively fast and friendly.

As my Mrs is a big fan of Italian, I must recommend this place for they serve really delicious and freshly made pasta. The service is slow but the food they serve is worth the wait.

We had a pizza and a 'green salad'. Worst ever Pizza I have eaten anywhere (you could tell the dough has been growing all day and was thus raw) and the salad came in a small bowl and was very sparse. For that kind of 'food' the price was too high.

Excellent place, during our week-long stay in Sarajevo we went three times, the staff was very friendly and the food was excellent, we tried a cafeteria and had lunch three times, everything was very healthy, the only thing I didn't like was that people could smoke inside although If the windows were open, the smell came in a lot, although I suppose it is still normal in the city, apart from that, a place to recommend 100 percent.

On our final day in Sarajevo, we came to try Mrvica for breakfast. I ordered my go to - eggs royale and my wife an omelette. The eggs royale came on a croissant from their bakery, instead of the usual muffin or bread. It was very nice. I liked how the tea came with shots of concentrated lemon and orange juice. Mrvica have a large bakery with lots of great options, in terms of breads, cakes and other desserts. Staff members were very friendly and provided great service. Highly recommend!!

A lovely café with a great atmosphere. We enjoyed the omelette, which was nice, and there’s a fantastic selection of cakes. Unfortunately, some breakfast items like sunny-side-up eggs weren’t available, so the kids couldn’t have a simple option. The tuna sandwich was over-toasted and difficult to eat. Service was quite slow, likely due to how busy it was, but overall still a pleasant experience.

Not a tourist/Traveller friendly place to get a local coffee. Its first time for me visiting Sarajevo. I payed a visit in this small local coffee shop since I arrive very early am around 7am, pretty chilly since it just rained and looking to warm up a bit. I stayed outside to check the menu and barista check my order. They said they don’t accept card payment, and they don’t accept Euros as well. I asked if he can give me a couple of minutes, bit of time to stay just to figure out where to exchange money and was told sorry not allowed to stay. Don’t go in this place if you don’t have the local currency. This coffee shop looks great and quite a potential in the market but just a shame for being inconsiderate.

The food is actually very good, the problem is the service which very often is rude or incompetent. Specifically the waitress with long dark hair that managed to be extremely rude and unprofessional with everyone in the restaurant while we were sitting the for 30 min. Atmosphere feels worn down and not very cozy anymore. It needs some good renovation and workforce restructure.

I've had lunch here a few times, and the main issue is the lack of consistency. Ordering the same dish on different days doesn't guarantee you'll get the same ingredients or preparation, the food varies quite a bit each time.

All I can say is if you are in Sarajevo and bored of local food this is a place to be at!! Grat food, (prices are a bit expensive) great service. Worth a checking out. Place is clean and nice. We will be back!

I opted for the tagliatelle with salmon during my visit. The dish had its highs and lows—the tagliatelle was flavorsome and satisfying. Unfortunately, the salmon was a bit of a disappointment, seemingly frozen and lacking in taste. However, the staff was incredibly pleasant and attentive, which enhanced the overall experience. The restaurant's atmosphere, especially the terrace, added to the pleasant dining ambiance. A mixed experience with moments of delight and room for improvement.

I had lunch today and made the mistake not to review the bill. The waiter charged 24 km of food we did not order. The food was fine. Nothing extraordinary. I will not return.

The desserts were fully handmade and delicious. There are many types and we had great difficulty when choosing what to eat. The store is a litte bit small though, it was quiet and nice.

Although it's often recommended a lot, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone due to their rude attitude toward tourists. The desserts they sell are average and can be found anywhere in Bascarsija. They serve and earn money from tourists, yet they can’t even bother to respond to a simple "hello" or treat you decently if you don’t understand their language—as if everyone is supposed to know it. I have eaten 'tufahija' in various places in Sarajevo, but this is my favorite place. 💛 Portion is big enough and not too syrupy, you can easily finish it. In other places I ate, I always had to leave it halfway.

The server at this pastry shop, the blond woman with glasses, was incredibly rude and arrogant. She had a terrible attitude and was very condescending. She also pretended not to understand English, only to speak it perfectly later on. It's completely unacceptable to treat customers this way.

Visiting Sarajevo and found this wonderful cafe as we were walking around. Very family friendly and cosy. The customer service was outstanding. We had the Italian coffee (so good), gelato ice cream which was lovely. The salad was lovely and buffalo cheese fresh. We also had the pistachio tart which was perfect. Just the right amount of sweetness and bursting with flavour. Hope to revisit before we get back.

great place to snack something, have a drink, take a break... very clean... they have lots of chocolate specialty items in the menu. the service is great. But i was a little disappointed with the peperino as it turned out coffee with pepper (as described in the menu) is quite literally espresso and a black pepper shake :) I was expecting some spicy blend instead.

Hidden down an alley, you can eat at standing tables outside. Good selection! Strudla sa makom was delicious. Spinach pite and cheese kifle also good! Took it to eat in the airport going home and it still tasted good hours later.

As a coeliac from Bosnia, living in Sweden, it is impossible for me to find pita at home. This was paradise for me! I bought the pita zeljanica and sirnica, tapiocaball, croissant with chocolate and a baklava. It was all so fresh, tasteful and not at all dry and/or compact as gluten free products tend to be. My best recommendations!

The one with spinach tasted really good and the one with cheese was good. But the best of these two were the one with spinach. Unfortunately it didn’t taste as fresh anymore, but we liked it anyway. But keep in mind that the bakery doesn’t have any places to sit and enjoy the food, and this was i thing I missed…

Worth seeking out this place to try gluten free burek. Was delicious! Also the slatka strudla was one of the best pastries I’ve ever had.

I had not come here in a while. When I finally did, I was given two brownies, which was odd. One of them had mold on the bottom. I don't understand why the staff wouldn't just throw it away instead of selling a product that is not safe to eat. I'm very disappointed in the decline of quality and standards as someone who loved going here often.

This place is heaven on earth if you have celiac disease. Burek, krumpiruša, croissants, cakes and many other things that you can't buy anywhere else. Owner is such a nice guy and he completely understands what life with this disease means. He even gave us free tapioka rolls. I can't recommend this place enough. Just make sure you order in advance if you want to buy a bit larger amounts so they can prepare it.

Not only is this place beautifully decorated, it also serves amazing burgers, drinks, coffees and the service is second to none. You can instantly tell a lot of thought and heart got invested in, because FG has a unique soul. Located pretty much in the centre of Sarajevo, they excel in making stuff to eat and drink and also turning your stay into an experience. I'm sure there are a lot of cool businesses around, Sarajevo was always good at that. But people, you gotta try this venue, it's awesome.

Sat down for food and drinks. It was not busy! Took them ages to come over and serve us as the waiter was just chatting and having his drink. The waiter didn’t know what was included in the meals we ordered. We ordered chicken sandwich, veggie platter , 2 waters and a hot chocolate. He took the order and then came back 5 mins later saying there will be a problem with the food as they need to go out and get the ingredients. We said don’t worry as we have a flight to catch. He said I’ve already made the hot chocolate (which he had not) so I had to pay for that and take it away. Very disorganised which is a shame because it had great reviews

This is the most popular burek shop but I didn't like the minced meat burek. I think Turks have hyped this place because of a different kind of burek and a bit of popular culture. The filling was rich but the minced meat was not roasted so it was very heavy and raw. It's like “Çiğ Börek”, a Turkish delicacy, but the taste is more intense and heavy. I liked the one with cheese better, but in general, all the pastries are fat-free, which is a plus point. And the waiters are very kind.

Well, what I learned about this place that is next door to my accommodation in Sarajevo, is that it is not welcoming of visitors to the area. I attempted to figure out what they sold, but there is no signage regarding products sold. There is a doorbell that one presses to summon staff. I pressed it and an older woman appeared from inside and stared blankly at me with no greeting. I greeted her in Bosnian, and then attempted to use Google translate, but she wasn’t having it. We saw a big queue outside this place while visiting Sarajevo. We asked one of the locals what it was about. They showed us a flat bread in a bag and explained that the queue was due to the iftar time (breaking fast time during Ramadan). We decided to buy the bread next day. The staff was friendly and helpful. And the bread it’s just delicious! We bought 5 to share with family and friends back home!

The service was great and welcoming but the food was a disaster. The ribeye steak on the picture had nothing to do with what came in, I couldn’t eat it. The french fries was cold but the waitress directly recognized and came in with hot ones. The octopus was also cold, as was the barbecued vegetables so BIG SHAME on the kitchen but the service did their best to make up for it but still DON’T EAT HERE.

Edit: avoid at all costs; numerous other reviews have warned about this place - I wish I had read them ahead of time. Just had Bosanski Sahan here. What was delivered was only 70-75% of what was advertised (see pic with my plate and pic to top left of menu) in terms of proportions. The young waitresses and waiters were just doing their jobs and getting shouted at by their bosses. I was hungry and decided to eat the food as is, and it was a of normal quality, neither too high nor too low. I think most tourists were there out of desperation too. Afterwards, the waiter conveyed my complaint to the owner, a large man sitting in front of a display inside the restaurant, but the latter was dismissive and didn’t offer any discount much less an excuse, what to say of an apology. I didn’t argue and just walked out after paying the 20KM (10€) price. Way overpriced. Last time I go there.

Food was awful, I ordered the lamb with potatoes (highly recommend by the waiter). 3/4 of the lamb was just a bone and rest mostly was fat ( I didn’t eat the lamb,my portion of the meat is on the left side of the plate). I informed the waiter about it and he only shrugged his shoulders saying that is what it is and he will talk to people in the back. We had order of stuffed chicken and that meal tasteless and chicken was too tough to be eaten. Only thing during this dinner was cabbage salad. Service was awful, food was awful and the price OMG, extremely overpriced (double and more than other restaurants around plus %3 extra if you pay by credit card! Please don’t waist your money there. We did !

Loved my meal here. We sat downstairs and enjoyed the traditional art and artifacts decorating the place. The grilled meats on my “sword” were perfectly seasoned and cooked. Loved the stuffed vegetables, too. We enjoyed meeting the owner and the staff took great care of us. Will return for sure!

Absolutely Disappointing Experience I would not recommend Steak House Bosanska Kuća to anyone — especially not to tourists from Gulf countries who care about transparency, fairness, and halal standards. • Portion sizes are ridiculously small for the price. I left the restaurant feeling like I had just eaten an appetizer, despite paying a full meal price. • At the entrance, it clearly states “no alcohol served”. When I asked the staff, they confirmed they do not serve alcohol. But minutes later, I watched foreign tourists talking to staff and being served alcoholic beer at their table — without hesitation. • When I asked the staff why this double standard exists or why the sign is misleading, they had no explanation at all. Just awkward silence. • Honestly, after witnessing this dishonesty, I doubt whether the meat is even halal. If they’re willing to lie about alcohol, what else aren’t they telling us? 👎 Dear fellow travelers from the Gulf and other Muslim-majority countries: don’t let this place make fools of you. There are better, more honest restaurants out there that respect their customers — and their own rules.

We are visiting Bosnia and was our first day at Sarajevo, we went to steakhouse, ordered Rib-eye steak and fillet soya, food was amazing and the waiter was exceptionally good and very courteous. Highly recommend this place.

Good French bakery in Sarajevo? Yes! The main point in my opinion are the different sorts of bread, which we're all really tasty. Important point, this is probably the only place in the town, where you can get proper wholewheat bread, which is supper tasty and filling. We tried as well some pastries. All very good, for me the sample and measurement of good French patisserie "lemon meringue tart" was definitely one of the better ones I tasted do far.

My family and I stumbled upon this dessert spot while searching for a sweet treat, and we decided to try the kunafe. It was delicious—although a bit smaller and less cheesy than others I’ve had, it met our needs. The lady working there was incredibly kind and friendly, speaking excellent English. The ice cream on top delightful! The place is spacious with plenty of seating, making it a great choice for groups. They also have a good deal: buy four desserts and pay for only three, which is perfect for larger gatherings. Overall, it was a lovely experience and exactly what we needed to satisfy our dessert craving

Food was delicious, but the staff didnt communicate well or write down orders. I waited for my kunefe to be cooked and when it was done the other lady who didnt serve me took it and gave it to her customer who came 20mins later. When I asked about my order they realised and had to start again, but acted like I didn't notice. I then had to ask again for the tea I ordered. After eating, I then ordered a drink to go, I thought they might’ve waved the extra charge, but instead they asked if I had paid for my first order and then still charged for my second.

Amazing place! We were living next to this bakery and every morning we’re having breakfast here. Almond croissant stole my heart. Salty croissants like with cheese or with salmos were amazing too. And everything is quite big so you feel quite full after 1 croissant. Also they have different salads so once we took and for take away and ate in on the road in the car, it was fast and healthy option!

Visited Palma several times during my stay in Sarajevo. This dessert parlor offers a more local, off-the-beaten-path experience cause it's far from Baščaršija and rather serves as a neighborhood spot. Wonderful service and friendly attentive staff. Their desserts are exceptional! There are some classics across the former Yugoslavia that you won't find anywhere else (e.g., Reforma or Bajadera cakes). You can basically order anything on the menu because it will always be the right choice.

Among the luxurious cafes in Sarajevo, the atmosphere is beautiful, especially in the evening, sitting to the tunes of the piano and playing. We thank our host for inviting us to eat cake and drink coffee in this cafe.

I stopped by this bakery in Sarajevo and had what I think was a meat burek filo pastry filled with minced meat and onions, rolled into a snail shape. Absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, my experience at this pastry shop was disappointing. If you're searching for a quick snack, Mlinar is the place to get that. They have a huge range of delicious sweet and sour pastries. Even their basic mediterranean bread rolls are something special and unique. The food here is always fresh. Just know that there's no place to sit inside.
