Restaurant
Dveri is a charming family-owned restaurant situated in Bascarsija, Sarajevo. The cozy interior features rustic wooden decor and an unusual yet inviting countryside cottage ambiance with climbing plants and vibrant flowers. The menu boasts a variety of traditional Bosnian dishes, including goulash, sausage stew, grilled meats, and hearty soups - perfect comfort food that complements the restaurant's warm and homey atmosphere.
This restaurant is, by far, the best in town. The food is incredible. The gulash, the chicken curry and the bread... Ah the bread.. my wife and I were discussing sneaky ways for us to take the rest of the bread in our backpack :) the waiter came to us and said " I can get you a bag for the bread ".. oops.. he told us everybody takes away the bread. But, be aware the reservations are not easy to get. Prepare for that.
Paulo S — Google review
The food was absolutely phenomenal. The steak was one of the best I've ever had out of hundreds of restaurants. Homemade bread also really excellent. The meal, food, drink and atmosphere are definitely amongst the best in Sarajevo. A reservation is definitely required, about 50 people walked in during my 2 hours in the restaurant and none were able to get a table. But it's worth it! The only downside is that cards aren't accepted.
Haris O — Google review
What an amazing experience eating at Dveri. We had to wait for a table for a bit but when we sat down and eat our food we understood why the place was so popular. The dishes were so tasty and we had the best sopska salad of our entire 10 day trip. We found the curry and goulash to be very tasty and flavourful. I recommend.
Sakina K — Google review
Dveri was an absolute highlight of my trip to Sarajevo! I loved the meat platter, the tomato salad, the aubergine!! Who knew the humble aubergine could be elevated to taste so good? We also had the steak, their famous homemade bread, red wine and the baklava. Everything was top notch with fresh quality ingredients! Recommend making a reservation as the place is small and cozy.
Georgie — Google review
This place is u real. We had shared plates of 6 items and every single one was a 5 out of 5. One of the best meals in an incredible environment. Do not miss coming here for an incredible meal.
Brian B — Google review
This place truly lives up to the rave reviews — and then some. There’s nothing in Baščaršija quite like it. The service was warm and attentive, and the ambience struck just the right balance between relaxed and refined. The food? Easily the best we had in all of Bosnia. The goulash, rich and deeply flavoured, came with tender homemade gnocchi-style dumplings that melted in the mouth. The delicately spiced aubergine was a standout, perfectly balanced in both texture and seasoning. Don’t miss the house bread — fresh, rustic, and utterly addictive — or the kajmak, which was hands-down the finest we tasted anywhere. For dessert, the figs and plums in red wine reduction were nothing short of sublime — a perfect ending to an exceptional meal. A couple of tips: reservations are essential if you want to secure a table, and note that they do not accept credit cards — come prepared.
Javeed T — Google review
Dveri in Sarajevo is an absolute gem! The ambiance is magical — it feels like you’ve stepped into a fairytale. The décor and cozy atmosphere make it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal. And the food… simply amazing! Every dish is full of flavor and beautifully presented. The staff is friendly and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Sarajevo!

I went here twice with my Filipino friends - the best customer service and the food. From the homemade bread, kajmak, soup, vegetable and veal soup, polenta, goulash and chicken curry. Top top! Highly recommended.

Cafe
During my recent adventure in Sarajevo, I stumbled upon the charming Ministry of Ćejf, a specialty coffee shop that truly stands out. This delightful spot offers an impressive selection of high-quality brews, including a rich double espresso and a velvety cortado that tantalized my taste buds. As Bosnia's first third-wave specialty coffee café, they take pride in roasting their own beans and serving everything from traditional Bosnian coffee to trendy flat whites.
A lovely setting to sit and drink some Bosnian coffee and watch the world go by. You get a good view of the square down the hill and whole so close to it, still somehow manages to make you feel like everything has slowed down. Not a coffee drinker at all but it really was excellent. 6 stars.
Jake H — Google review
Really tasty Bosnian coffee, friendly people and a cool rustic interior. Beautiful little terrace situated on the hill for ideal people watching and enjoying the street vibe, but i preferred to chill inside and enjoy the company of this sleeping kitten. Sort of makes for a makeshift cat cafe vibe. After coffee i tried one of their house specialties, the rose sherbet and it was very tasty! Great spot that’s open late and in the heart of everything on this side of town.
Justin — Google review
A very nicely decorated café. The tables are old sewing machine tables. It's still located in the old town, giving it a completely different feeling. Since it's a bit higher up, you can enjoy the view and the street atmosphere. The Bosnian coffee was delicious, and the rose sherbet was very pleasant. The staff were very nice and friendly. The evening feels even different.

I drank Bosnian coffee in 3 places, this was the most suitable for my taste. The cafe is so softy drink. I definitely recommend it. The staff is so friendly.

Such a cute coffee shop on a beautiful street. Authentic Bosnian coffee and such sweet staff. Great place to relax away from the business of the old town. But close enough to still people watch and slow down :) Amerlena was so kind to us.

When in Sarajevo, a visit to Buregdžinica Bosna is a must for those craving traditional burek. This popular spot is renowned for its flaky, savory pastries filled with options like meat, cheese, spinach, or potatoes. Embodying the energetic spirit of the city, the eatery offers a bustling ambiance and delicious offerings that capture the essence of Bosnian fast food.
The ones with cheese and potato are overrated I believe. Yet the ones with the beef and spinach were really tasty. Strongly recommended. Btw, it's a busy place and the staff don't even smile.
Ahmet A — Google review
I had high hopes for the cheese burek, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite meet my expectations. On the other hand, the Bosnian Manti was a delightful surprise and truly enjoyable. I appreciated the reasonable prices and the quick service, though it would have been nice to experience a bit more warmth from the staff. Overall, it was a mixed experience.
M.Harun Y — Google review
Absolutely the best Burek I've had in Sarajevo, we came three days in a row for dinner to this place, and again when I returned to Sarajevo. The food is amazing, with vegetarian and meat options for customers. The seating is indoor and outdoor. It's the same shop next door, so you can also go to the toilet inside the other shop. Friendly staff, too.
Inesh S — Google review
Good burek. The meat one has too much fat and ligament. The spinach butek was better. Good staff.
Bright S — Google review
The burek here was delicious, crispy, warm and full of flavor. Overall, it was a solid experience at the evening in Baščaršija. However, we were told by the waiter that the cheese burek was finished, only to see it served to nearby tables shortly after. A bit disappointing. Clearer communication about wait times would’ve made a difference. But still, worth visiting.
Yazeed A — Google review
The restaurant takes place in a very busy street, which makes it also special because you can feel the city's soul. We tried 3 kind of burek, all of them were really good. It's worth to try!
Birtanrica A — Google review
The food is quite tasty, I got it for breakfast and it was enough to get energy for a big time. The thing is that if you go as a tourist the people working there are just running they dont explain you anything from the menu and its in bosnian language, there are few options but still. You can only pay with cash.
Miriam G — Google review
The Burek and other Pitas are not really pita‘s.🫓❌As a bosnian i can tell you, you will pay a lot for something that is not really good. It tastes 20% how a pita really tastes… It is really an industrial🏭 pita nothing more… The joghurt on the pita was thrown on it and lot like it must be done: elapsed on it. Location i cool. Servicestaff is very busy…

Guests can enjoy authentic Bosnian coffee, delectable desserts, natural juices, and traditional lighter options in a serene setting.
What a lovely hidden gem!!! We stumbled across this café by accident, in search for a little spot to drink some coffee. It was truly charming, the staff was so nice and the woman explained us, how to drink the Bosnian coffee and gave us recommendations for the baklava we ate. Would always come back!!
Elina T — Google review
Nice authentic coffee shop. For me the best Bosnian coffee I have tried in old town. I went back there every day. The owner is really nice and speaks good English. Good value for money. Will come back!
Kalli — Google review
A café with a very elegant and pleasant atmosphere. Allowing us to bring our own food was a particularly kind and thoughtful gesture. Although the Turkish tea we ordered was brewed from loose leaf tea(Kaçak çay🙂), we really enjoyed its taste with our friends. A cozy spot for nice conversations — definitely recommended!
Sümeyye Ç — Google review
Wonderful authentic coffee experience Definitely recommend opting for the Bosnian coffee for a lovely authentic experience. It's served in beautiful copperware. The interior is super nice, and the little terrace is located on a not so busy little street, it felt like a hidden gem. Very clean bathroom, which tells something about their standards too. Perfect service. Payment possible by cash only, but they accept euros too. Completely recommended.

Mrvica is a versatile cafe bakery known for its delectable desserts, including the city's best macarons. Despite not being a traditional restaurant, it offers proper meals alongside its renowned pastries and cakes. The establishment also hosts themed international cuisine days, such as Greek cuisine day featuring souvlaki chicken and Greek salad. With a diverse menu catering to various diets, it serves as an excellent breakfast spot with fresh and tasty options like croissant eggs.
Nice café that serves cakes and sweets directly from the bakery. Savoury breakfast and lunch also available on the menu. We recommend the brownie pistacchio cheesecake and the hot tea. Parking spot available on the road for free.
Greta&Ludo — Google review
As a tourist passing through Sarajevo, I decided to try Mrvica for breakfast, but unfortunately it didn’t live up to expectations. The food felt lackluster and not particularly fresh—almost as if the kitchen just threw a few random items together on the plate. The coffee was equally underwhelming, nothing memorable or worth coming back for. To be fair, locals may see this place differently, and I respect that. But for me, breakfast at home would have been leaps and bounds better than what I had here. Overall, I walked away disappointed and wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re just looking for a very basic bite to start the day.
Ali A — Google review
Best cafe in Sarajevo and great location on the way to the airport. We had breakfast there right before our flight and it was great as usual. Would recommend the eggs with salmon if you like smoked salmon, otherwise the Eggs Benedict is amazing. Of course we couldn’t leave before having coffee with their amazing San Sabastian cake.

Amazing desserts that you can never find anywhere else in Sarajevo and Ilidza. The ingredients are top quality and the sugar balance is great. The waiters are professional and friendly. Atmosphere is also very comfortable.

This is a nice place to have a meal or snack in this part of town. The place was very busy at lunchtime, therefore not very easy to find place. The food is creative and their cheese cake was really 👌 nice. Service was prompt, although one could notice that the place is understaffed. Overall, it was a good experience.

Located in the heart of Sarajevo, Ćevabdžinica Željo is a must-visit spot for anyone looking to experience authentic Bosnian cuisine. This popular eatery offers a variety of traditional dishes, including the renowned cevapi - hand-shaped, caseless sausages served with bread, onions, and tomato paste. The menu also features other local favorites such as suzuk, a Bosnian variation of cured Balkan sausage.
We tried this place 3 years ago, and we loved it, so this year we had dinner there every night we were in Sarajevo. It’s a simple restaurant that locals go to. It serves the best chevapis in town. The yogurt drinks are great too. We saw 3 branches, but we only tried one branch. The service is fast, and the workers are friendly.
Z J — Google review
We looked for this restaurant because it was highly recommended as one of the oldest and most authentic in Sarajevo. We didn’t order ćevapi since we had already tried plenty at other places, but the food we did order was delicious and came out very quickly. The restaurant filled up fast, but we never felt rushed to finish or leave, which we really appreciated. The service wasn’t outstanding, but it was totally fine
Martha M — Google review
As much as I’d love to give a glowing review—because I truly enjoy the combination of cevapi, onions, kaymak, and fresh bread—it pains me to say I left feeling disappointed. We waited over 20 minutes for a simple kiselo mljeko and water, and when the food arrived, the cevapi were undercooked and the bread was sticky inside. While the service feels fast-food style, that shouldn’t mean less care. Given the busy location, efficiency and quality could be much better.
Branimira P — Google review
I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks and deep appreciation for the warm hospitality and outstanding service I received during my visit to your wonderful restaurant. A special thanks goes to Ne’metullah and Mohamed for their kindness, warm welcome, and exceptional professionalism, which truly reflect the spirit of genuine Bosnian hospitality. I would also like to praise the quality of the food served—it was absolutely delicious and full of authentic flavor. It was truly one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Thank you all once again. I wish you continued success and excellence, and may Ćevabdžinica Željo remain a special destination for every visitor to Sarajevo. “I look forward to returning soon With sincere respect and appreciation,
Issa S — Google review
Very tasty ćevapi, complemented by the kaymak and homemade ayran (which had a thick, creamy texture). The service was very friendly and the lady who served us even offered to take a group photo. Everything was reasonably priced as well.
Storee — Google review
Quality of the ćevabi kebab is very low compared to two years ago. Not as tasty as in 2020. We used used to look forward to it every time we visited Bosnia. But after today's experience, we will not go again. The staff is mixed. Some are friendly and some are grouchy.
Bright S — Google review
first tried cevapi somewhere else and absolutely loved it, so I was excited to check this place out after seeing it ranked as one of the top-rated spots in the area. It definitely lived up to the hype! The food was delicious, authentic, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The cevapi had that perfect balance of juicy and smoky, and the sides complemented it really well. Even though the place was a bit cramped and quite busy, the service was impressively fast and friendly.

A very pleasant restaurant. The pasta was good. I want to mention that the indian waiter, which I think he is called Ferhan (im sorry, I dont remember the name correctly but it started with F) was very professional and servicial.

the sandwich i got wasn’t bad but it had no flavor it tasted so plain and there was too much sauce in it and the sauce tasted like nothing. the fries were really good tho
Lamar — Google review
As my Mrs is a big fan of Italian, I must recommend this place for they serve really delicious and freshly made pasta. The service is slow but the food they serve is worth the wait.
Sadiq A — Google review
We had a pizza and a 'green salad'. Worst ever Pizza I have eaten anywhere (you could tell the dough has been growing all day and was thus raw) and the salad came in a small bowl and was very sparse. For that kind of 'food' the price was too high.
Tayfun K — Google review
Where do I start from ? the rude Indian waiter ? or the strange service charge policy? The waiter did not tell us before ordering that we had to pay a service charge and it was not stated on the bill, he scolded us and misunderstood us and then came to his senses and dealt with us rationally, the food is in small quantity and salty, slow service and the one who works in the kitchen does not wear gloves. Cleanliness is 0% The smoking smell in everywhere

Excellent place, during our week-long stay in Sarajevo we went three times, the staff was very friendly and the food was excellent, we tried a cafeteria and had lunch three times, everything was very healthy, the only thing I didn't like was that people could smoke inside although If the windows were open, the smell came in a lot, although I suppose it is still normal in the city, apart from that, a place to recommend 100 percent.

Lovely spot in the heart of Sarajevo! Mrvica Old Town is cosy, welcoming, and has a great atmosphere. The staff are incredibly friendly and make you feel right at home. On our final day in Sarajevo, we came to try Mrvica for breakfast. I ordered my go to - eggs royale and my wife an omelette. The eggs royale came on a croissant from their bakery, instead of the usual muffin or bread. It was very nice. I liked how the tea came with shots of concentrated lemon and orange juice. Mrvica have a large bakery with lots of great options, in terms of breads, cakes and other desserts. Staff members were very friendly and provided great service. Highly recommend!!

A lovely café with a great atmosphere. We enjoyed the omelette, which was nice, and there’s a fantastic selection of cakes. Unfortunately, some breakfast items like sunny-side-up eggs weren’t available, so the kids couldn’t have a simple option. The tuna sandwich was over-toasted and difficult to eat. Service was quite slow, likely due to how busy it was, but overall still a pleasant experience.

Old Town Caffe Bar is a charming local coffee shop located near the Main Street in Sarajevo, close to major attractions and restaurants. It offers a cozy atmosphere with friendly staff and even features a kids' playground. Visitors can enjoy a good strong espresso here at an affordable price, making it a great spot for a morning coffee or an occasional treat.
Sometimes you just need a good strong espresso and the Old Town had that. Cheap.

Not a tourist/Traveller friendly place to get a local coffee. Its first time for me visiting Sarajevo. I payed a visit in this small local coffee shop since I arrive very early am around 7am, pretty chilly since it just rained and looking to warm up a bit. I stayed outside to check the menu and barista check my order. They said they don’t accept card payment, and they don’t accept Euros as well. I asked if he can give me a couple of minutes, bit of time to stay just to figure out where to exchange money and was told sorry not allowed to stay. Don’t go in this place if you don’t have the local currency. This coffee shop looks great and quite a potential in the market but just a shame for being inconsiderate.

Rahatlook is a charming teahouse located in the heart of Sarajevo's Old Town. The name 'Rahat' embodies the pleasant and comfortable atmosphere that this place offers. Tucked away from the bustling main street, it provides a calm and relaxing space for visitors to unwind. The tearoom boasts an open and bright interior as well as a spacious outdoor area at the back.
Rahatlook is a charming cafe just off the main bustling streets of old town where you are guaranteed a smile, authentic Bosnian beverages, and a sweet homemade treat of natural ingredients. Many bakeries are using margarine, artificial whipped cream, etc in their versions of classic desserts but Rahatlook uses butter and real whipped cream. This alone would keep me returning. The added benefits of friendly owners (mother and son were lovely to speak with), comfortable vibe, and reasonable prices are icing on the cake (so to speak). ;-) Their tufahiya and orasnice are the best I've had and their boza and juniper water is addicting. Don't miss the gem in Sarajevo!

We stopped here for coffee and dessert after lunch and were delighted with the calm atmosphere of this café. Traditional Bosnian coffee and homemade cakes make this shop a must for the sweet tooth. Elderflower juice super good too.

Top top top!! Definitely 5⭐️! Not sure why it’s 4.8 and not 5 it totally deserves full stars. If you’re in Sarajevo, you really have to stop by! You’ll find desserts here that you can’t find anywhere else. The place feels like a real Bosnian home from the vibes to the pastries and coffe The owner is Amire and his mother (she’s the one baking everything) ,he is super nice and welcoming. Everything is homemade and fresh. We also had a great chat with Amire really kind guy! I tried the poppy seed cake (fell in love with it 😍 didn’t even take a photo because once I started, I couldn’t stop until it was gone!), the walnut cake, and the apple pie ,all were amazing!

Druga Kuća is a cozy and comfortable restaurant located outside the city center, offering a homely atmosphere and delicious food prepared with emotion and care. The place is perfect for quiet conversations or enjoying some alone time. It also houses a charming café where you can savor aromatic coffee, tasty teas, healthy natural juices, and delightful pastries. The restaurant offers decent quality food with an extensive menu that includes gluten-free options.
One of my favorite spots in Sarajevo. Great for any ocasion, any time od the day. Good food, excellent wine selection, friendly and relaxed service, good music, …. The crispy chicken cold salad with yougurt, beets, sunndried tomatoes and arugula is genious creation. I love the breakfast menu as well. Strongly recommend Lešo Teletina - season it with a bit of olive oil, salt, pepper and chilly flakes. Fantastic and healthy!
Sejo J — Google review
The food is actually very good, the problem is the service which very often is rude or incompetent. Specifically the waitress with long dark hair that managed to be extremely rude and unprofessional with everyone in the restaurant while we were sitting the for 30 min. Atmosphere feels worn down and not very cozy anymore. It needs some good renovation and workforce restructure.
Marinela S — Google review
Excellent food. Couldn't of asked for anything more. Great choice, well cooked and relaxed atmosphere. Would come again in a heartbeat.
Samantha K — Google review
I recently dined at Druga Kuća, a delightful fusion eatery that masterfully bridges Bosnian and other world cuisines. The menu offers a unique blend of flavors, and the standout for me was the buckwheat pizza. It was an intriguing twist on a classic, with a wonderfully crisp crust and a rich, earthy taste that was simply delectable. While it leaned slightly on the salty side because of "smoked beef", it added to the overall depth of the dish without overwhelming the palate. What truly makes Druga Kuća a local gem is its commitment to high-quality, locally sourced ingredients. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for a casual night out or a special occasion. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable, eager to share the stories behind each dish. Whether you’re a fan of Bosnian cuisine, or other classics, or just curious about unique culinary fusions, Druga Kuća is definitely worth a visit.

I've had lunch here a few times, and the main issue is the lack of consistency. Ordering the same dish on different days doesn't guarantee you'll get the same ingredients or preparation, the food varies quite a bit each time.

All I can say is if you are in Sarajevo and bored of local food this is a place to be at!! Grat food, (prices are a bit expensive) great service. Worth a checking out. Place is clean and nice. We will be back!

I opted for the tagliatelle with salmon during my visit. The dish had its highs and lows—the tagliatelle was flavorsome and satisfying. Unfortunately, the salmon was a bit of a disappointment, seemingly frozen and lacking in taste. However, the staff was incredibly pleasant and attentive, which enhanced the overall experience. The restaurant's atmosphere, especially the terrace, added to the pleasant dining ambiance. A mixed experience with moments of delight and room for improvement.

EVERYTHING is GLUTEN-FREE, really true! Disappointed in the taste/quality of the ice cream today. We've visited Marshall's each time we've been in Sarajevo for the last three years. The price has always been at the higher end but the quality of the product warranted it. Previously I would have given 5 stars for the food.

The desserts were fully handmade and delicious. There are many types and we had great difficulty when choosing what to eat. The store is a litte bit small though, it was quiet and nice.
Nevin Ş — Google review
Although it's often recommended a lot, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone due to their rude attitude toward tourists. The desserts they sell are average and can be found anywhere in Bascarsija. They serve and earn money from tourists, yet they can’t even bother to respond to a simple "hello" or treat you decently if you don’t understand their language—as if everyone is supposed to know it. I definitely do not recommend this place
Hilal H — Google review
I have eaten 'tufahija' in various places in Sarajevo, but this is my favorite place. 💛 Portion is big enough and not too syrupy, you can easily finish it. In other places I ate, I always had to leave it halfway.

The ambiance strikes the perfect balance between intimate and relaxed, offering both indoor comfort and outdoor seating to soak up the sun when weather permits.
Always the best coffee, cakes, and ice cream - gelato. I tried gelato in so many places, but this is as far as the best I ever had. The most important thing about their gelato is that consistency, texture and taste is the same every time, and whenever you come back, you’ll have the same product you came back for. Coffee is another level compared to other similar places. As coffee lover my self I always appreciate the taste, fresh milk, perfect foam, and silky texture, and the most important coffee never had even a tiny bitterness it its taste. Which shows that employees take extra care and baristas are professionals. Service is always polite, kind and helpful, and you never wait too long even when the place is crowded. Caffe is located in the heart of the city, yet it is in a very quite and green street, and sitting outside is very enjoyable, especially in summer.

The staff is known for their friendliness, and the bakery operates 24/7, ensuring that fresh baked goods are always available.
Wow, I'm still so astonished about the delicious pastries I bought here for just 3 euros. I had three kinds of borek (two savory ones: one with cheese and one with cottage cheese and leek + a sweet one with strawberry marmalade in it), which I ate at the top of Trebevič as a recompense for the strains from hiking up to its peak, and one pita bread that I filled with tomato sauce, feta cheese, carrots and maize for dinner, yummy. So, I cannot stop with rhapsodizing the taste of these bakery products, and there are a great variety of other things too that are waiting for me to try them. I definitely plan on visiting this beautiful hidden gem of a bakery once again in the next days that I'm staying here in Sarajevo - all in all a wonderful place to get in touch with the bosnian cuisine.

Ps: they were two women working so one could get the money from us and the other woman could serve the group behind us (easy). And it’s just like any other bakery nothing special.

I did not really have an issue with service here, maybe I got lucky. I enjoyed their kifle first and then I loved the one with sesame so much so that I ended up buying 5 more for back home. It is possibly the best bread-like baked good I had in my entire life. Just the right amount of salt and sesame on top of an already amazing baked goodies. 0.60 KM only as of July 2025 as well. Much recommended!

The entrance is through a passage - there is a white sign with green lettering “ISLAMSKA ZAJEDNICA. GAZI HUSREV-BEGOV VAKUF U SARAJEVU” above. It is very close to a WC spot nearby 🚾 Tasty burek 👌 Tasty sweets 👍 Cash only 🤑 No credit card accepted 👎 Payment in EUR in cash accepted (bring coins, the lady hated paper euros) 💶Reasonable prices 💰 They speak some English, but obviously they don’t want to speak to tourists (we tried more than English) 🤔 Local young guy (also a customer) helped and translated for us ☺️ I will come back, but not for the personnel but for more burek and baked sweets 😄

Customers highly recommend ordering in advance for larger quantities. Visitors rave about the incredible flavor of the Mantije and Burek, emphasizing their freshness and warmth.
A must visit bakery for anyone gluten free travelling to Sarajevo. So good I went back twice in one day, stocking up for my return to the UK. So happy I got to try Burek which was delicious. Also loved their cheese and spinach Pie. The tapioca balls were delicious and chewy, like eating something not gluten free. It was well worth the short bus ride out of the old town to visit here. As a coeliac from Bosnia, living in Sweden, it is impossible for me to find pita at home. This was paradise for me! I bought the pita zeljanica and sirnica, tapiocaball, croissant with chocolate and a baklava. It was all so fresh, tasteful and not at all dry and/or compact as gluten free products tend to be. My best recommendations!

First time trying gluten-free burek 😋☀️ (The bakery is small without any places to sit) We had high expectations because we wanted to try gluten-free burek. We arrived quite late so there wasn’t so much left. Therefore, arrive early to get fresh and to have many options 💖 Luckily, they had burek with spinach and one with cheese. The one with spinach tasted really good and the one with cheese was good. But the best of these two were the one with spinach. Unfortunately it didn’t taste as fresh anymore, but we liked it anyway. But keep in mind that the bakery doesn’t have any places to sit and enjoy the food, and this was i thing I missed…

I had not come here in a while. When I finally did, I was given two brownies, which was odd. One of them had mold on the bottom. I'm very disappointed in the decline of quality and standards as someone who loved going here often.

Sat down for food and drinks. It was not busy! Took them ages to come over and serve us as the waiter was just chatting and having his drink. The waiter didn’t know what was included in the meals we ordered. We ordered chicken sandwich, veggie platter , 2 waters and a hot chocolate. He took the order and then came back 5 mins later saying there will be a problem with the food as they need to go out and get the ingredients. We said don’t worry as we have a flight to catch. He said I’ve already made the hot chocolate (which he had not) so I had to pay for that and take it away. Very disorganised which is a shame because it had great reviews

Very tasty burek and pies. They are not too fatty, they are really tasty with ayran. We tried cheese and burek with meat, we don't know which is tastier. Fast service. Prices are affordable.
Aleksandra N — Google review
This is the most popular burek shop but I didn't like the minced meat burek. I think Turks have hyped this place because of a different kind of burek and a bit of popular culture. The filling was rich but the minced meat was not roasted so it was very heavy and raw. It's like “Çiğ Börek”, a Turkish delicacy, but the taste is more intense and heavy. I liked the one with cheese better, but in general, all the pastries are fat-free, which is a plus point. And the waiters are very kind.

Bakery Alifakovac is a must-visit spot in Sarajevo for anyone craving authentic Bosnian flatbread, known as somun. This charming bakery specializes solely in this delicious bread, which is baked to perfection at incredibly high temperatures, resulting in a delightful aroma that fills the air. During Ramadan, you’ll often find long lines of eager customers waiting to grab their share of this beloved staple, especially around iftar time.
Great bakery shop. They only have one kind of bread. But it's very tasty and still warm in the morning.

Well, what I learned about this place that is next door to my accommodation in Sarajevo, is that it is not welcoming of visitors to the area. I attempted to figure out what they sold, but there is no signage regarding products sold. There is a doorbell that one presses to summon staff. I pressed it and an older woman appeared from inside and stared blankly at me with no greeting. I greeted her in Bosnian, and then attempted to use Google translate, but she wasn’t having it. So I tapped out and left. As far as I can tell, this is a flatbread bakery. Tourists shouldn’t waste their time or money here. @Erowid_Spark on YouTube

Fresh somun bread 1.50KM each. The freshness texture - soft snd hot is what makes it a better bread than those from the supermarket

We saw a big queue outside this place while visiting Sarajevo. We asked one of the locals what it was about. They showed us a flat bread in a bag and explained that the queue was due to the iftar time (breaking fast time during Ramadan). We decided to buy the bread next day. The staff was friendly and helpful. And the bread it’s just delicious! We bought 5 to share with family and friends back home!

Restaurant
Nestled in the vibrant heart of the city, Steak House Bosanska Kuca is a culinary gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience. This charming establishment, housed in an old building brimming with character, offers more than just a meal; it provides a taste of tradition through its authentic dishes.
A living museum — and a delicious memory What we loved most was the authenticity of this place. It’s not just a restaurant — it’s an old house, full of character. Even the food felt like it belonged to the space. We came before the line started forming, so everything was calm. We ordered home-style dishes — I had slow-cooked meat with vegetables, and my husband had meatballs served with mashed potatoes made by hand. Not that watery kind — these had real texture, real taste, even the color was different. My dish was served in a wooden bowl — which made the whole experience feel even more grounded. And yes, it was delicious. We were already in a wave of joy from Sarajevo itself, but this meal just added to it. We said: we have to come back. As an artist, I also wandered through the house, looking at the paintings — it felt like walking through a small private museum. A living one. Thank you for keeping this historical gem alive.

The service was great and welcoming but the food was a disaster. The ribeye steak on the picture had nothing to do with what came in, I couldn’t eat it. The french fries was cold but the waitress directly recognized and came in with hot ones. The octopus was also cold, as was the barbecued vegetables so BIG SHAME on the kitchen but the service did their best to make up for it but still DON’T EAT HERE.
Saule L — Google review
Edit: avoid at all costs; numerous other reviews have warned about this place - I wish I had read them ahead of time. Just had Bosanski Sahan here. What was delivered was only 70-75% of what was advertised (see pic with my plate and pic to top left of menu) in terms of proportions. The young waitresses and waiters were just doing their jobs and getting shouted at by their bosses. I was hungry and decided to eat the food as is, and it was a of normal quality, neither too high nor too low. I think most tourists were there out of desperation too. Afterwards, the waiter conveyed my complaint to the owner, a large man sitting in front of a display inside the restaurant, but the latter was dismissive and didn’t offer any discount much less an excuse, what to say of an apology. I didn’t argue and just walked out after paying the 20KM (10€) price. Way overpriced. Last time I go there.
Ahmed B — Google review
Food was awful, I ordered the lamb with potatoes (highly recommend by the waiter). 3/4 of the lamb was just a bone and rest mostly was fat ( I didn’t eat the lamb,my portion of the meat is on the left side of the plate). I informed the waiter about it and he only shrugged his shoulders saying that is what it is and he will talk to people in the back. We had order of stuffed chicken and that meal tasteless and chicken was too tough to be eaten. Only thing during this dinner was cabbage salad. Service was awful, food was awful and the price OMG, extremely overpriced (double and more than other restaurants around plus %3 extra if you pay by credit card! Please don’t waist your money there. We did !
RAMIZA V — Google review
Loved my meal here. We sat downstairs and enjoyed the traditional art and artifacts decorating the place. The grilled meats on my “sword” were perfectly seasoned and cooked. Loved the stuffed vegetables, too. We enjoyed meeting the owner and the staff took great care of us. Will return for sure!

Absolutely Disappointing Experience I would not recommend Steak House Bosanska Kuća to anyone — especially not to tourists from Gulf countries who care about transparency, fairness, and halal standards. • Portion sizes are ridiculously small for the price. I left the restaurant feeling like I had just eaten an appetizer, despite paying a full meal price. • At the entrance, it clearly states “no alcohol served”. When I asked the staff, they confirmed they do not serve alcohol. But minutes later, I watched foreign tourists talking to staff and being served alcoholic beer at their table — without hesitation. • When I asked the staff why this double standard exists or why the sign is misleading, they had no explanation at all. Just awkward silence. • Honestly, after witnessing this dishonesty, I doubt whether the meat is even halal. If they’re willing to lie about alcohol, what else aren’t they telling us? 👎 Dear fellow travelers from the Gulf and other Muslim-majority countries: don’t let this place make fools of you. There are better, more honest restaurants out there that respect their customers — and their own rules.

Maison Coco is a French bakery with several branches in Sarajevo, Bosnia. It offers a refreshing alternative to traditional Balkan baked goods, serving up a variety of French pastries and breads such as croissants, baguettes, apple tarts, and pain au chocolat. The bakery prides itself on using only fresh ingredients without any artificial additives or preservatives. Our favourite bakery around the office. We were here almost every day for delicious brekfast! Chicken croissant are amazing, and Adela is so nice to us. Thanks!!

Good French bakery in Sarajevo? Yes! The main point in my opinion are the different sorts of bread, which we're all really tasty. Important point, this is probably the only place in the town, where you can get proper wholewheat bread, which is supper tasty and filling. We tried as well some pastries. All very good, for me the sample and measurement of good French patisserie "lemon meringue tart" was definitely one of the better ones I tasted do far.

What to say about this amazing french bakery!! There is two shops - one placed in Kranjceviceva street , one in here :) Staff is very helpful, since they are selling some very original and different kinds of bread and stuff.. If you want something very tasty and healthy you should buy in Maison Coco. Ako pekara - onda definitivno Maison Coco - nece vas iznevjeriti!

I come to this place every morning/afternoon when I am in Bosna. The service is great & their (spinach pita) reminds me of home! The ladies are also very nice and welcoming! This is the only place I come to get pita anytime I am in Sarajevo! A true gem 💎🩷

My family and I stumbled upon this dessert spot while searching for a sweet treat, and we decided to try the kunafe. It was delicious—although a bit smaller and less cheesy than others I’ve had, it met our needs. The lady working there was incredibly kind and friendly, speaking excellent English. The ice cream on top delightful! The place is spacious with plenty of seating, making it a great choice for groups. They also have a good deal: buy four desserts and pay for only three, which is perfect for larger gatherings. Overall, it was a lovely experience and exactly what we needed to satisfy our dessert craving
Israt R — Google review
Food was delicious, but the staff didnt communicate well or write down orders. I waited for my kunefe to be cooked and when it was done the other lady who didnt serve me took it and gave it to her customer who came 20mins later. When I asked about my order they realised and had to start again, but acted like I didn't notice. I then had to ask again for the tea I ordered. After eating, I then ordered a drink to go, I thought they might’ve waved the extra charge, but instead they asked if I had paid for my first order and then still charged for my second.

The cozy and romantic ambiance adds to the overall experience, making it a must-visit for anyone in Sarajevo. With old-timey decor and live piano music, it's consistently one of the best places to enjoy sweets in the city.
The Palma is great. They have a large selection of different cakes which are all excellent (I've tried almost all of them). In summer there is an outdoor seating garden and a beautiful fountain. Inside the cafe, someone plays the piano from time to time, which suits the atmosphere of the place very well. An absolute recommendation for dessert or if you're just in the mood for cake 10/10

A beautifully decorated pastry shop located near the football stadium with an excellent selection of desserts and refreshing drinks offered and served by top-notch waiters. ❤️
Edin H — Google review
For generations, the people of Sarajevo have found their way to Palma – not just for the coffee, but for the feeling of belonging. Tucked away in the heart of the city, this patisserie has become a meeting place where old friends reconnect, families celebrate, and passersby pause for a moment of sweetness. The aroma of freshly brewed Bosnian coffee mingles with the scent of cakes that have been perfected through decades of craftsmanship. Each slice, whether a classic creamy layer cake or a seasonal specialty, carries with it a story of tradition, care, and timeless taste. What makes Palma unique is not only its desserts but also its atmosphere – a space where generations have created memories. Students who once came for a quick pastry after class now return with their children and grandchildren, keeping alive the ritual of sitting down at a familiar table, ordering their favorite cake, and savoring the comfort of continuity. In Sarajevo, cafés and patisseries are part of everyday life, but Palma has a soul of its own – a quiet witness to laughter, conversations, and countless cups of coffee shared across decades. It remains one of the city’s sweetest symbols, a place where tradition meets the joy of the present moment.

Visited Palma several times during my stay in Sarajevo. This dessert parlor offers a more local, off-the-beaten-path experience cause it's far from Baščaršija and rather serves as a neighborhood spot. Wonderful service and friendly attentive staff. Their desserts are exceptional! There are some classics across the former Yugoslavia that you won't find anywhere else (e.g., Reforma or Bajadera cakes). You can basically order anything on the menu because it will always be the right choice.

I stopped by this bakery in Sarajevo and had what I think was a meat burek filo pastry filled with minced meat and onions, rolled into a snail shape. Absolutely delicious. Flaky, savory, perfectly seasoned ;easily a 10/10. The staff weren’t the most welcoming (probably a language thing), but it didn’t matter. I grabbed it to go and had it with coffee elsewhere. Unfortunately, my experience at this pastry shop was disappointing. The dishes we received were dirty – the plates and spoons had visible food residue and stains, which raises serious concerns about hygiene. Service is very good and professional. Prices are higher than Bosnian average. I would recommend coming here earlier in the day since all the good things are sold out before the afternoon.

If you're searching for a quick snack, Mlinar is the place to get that. They have a huge range of delicious sweet and sour pastries. Even their basic mediterranean bread rolls are something special and unique. The food here is always fresh. Just know that there's no place to sit inside.

Famous bakery shop, I’d like all products especially apple and cheery pie.

Food is tasty but it's still expensive. It's impossible to pay with a card what is big disadvantage.
Edin V — Google review
A bit pricey considering the quality. You can get better pastry in Sarajevo at half the price

Got a donut with white chocolate. It was old and not tasty, only a small piece of chocolate at the end of the donut. The chocolate was cold. Sorry for the bad review but I really dont like to pay 2.20 marks for a small and old donut.
