La Fabrica Girona is a popular spot known for its mellow brunch, vegan snacks, and specialty coffee. The venue, created by professional cyclist Christian Meier and his wife Amber, has become a must-visit for many cyclists in the Girona region. The former carpentry workshop is now filled with antiques collected by the couple on their travels. With bikes adorning the walls and outdoor seating available, it's a great place to relax and enjoy delicious food and sensational coffee.
We stumbled upon this absolute gem while exploring Girona, and we were so impressed! Despite arriving at peak time with two families, the staff managed to seat us right away and provided excellent service throughout. They also catered brilliantly for the vegan family in our group, nothing was too much trouble when going through the menu, which was excellent to see. We ordered quite a lot, and every single dish was genuinely delicious. Portions were generous, and the prices very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. Even the coffee was fantastic. I rarely give 5-star ratings, but this was a superb experience from start to finish. Highly recommend visiting La Fàbrica…well done to the team!

I think the café is great. The food is fantastic; I had a bagel with avocado for breakfast. The latte tasted great, highly recommended! The atmosphere is great, it's very cozy to sit outside on the small square and enjoy the sun. Inside also looks really cool, super quaint. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive. You don't need to book in advance, you just need a bit of luck.
Jasmin B — Google review
Randomly found this restaurant with a high rating in Girona. And that was really surprising. The place has a nice story over the owners, really nice to know about them. The food was not just delicious but is really pretty, the atmosphere is cozy warm and unique. Is just like a dream restaurant I always had in my head. I really recommend it.
Riana A — Google review
Delicious food, friendly service and a lovely atmosphere to enjoy it all. We loved the chia bowls! My husband said the coffee is superb and I loved the rooibos tea that I enjoyed with the delicious cinnamon bun. I want to come back to try a bagel sandwich or avocado toast, which look amazing.
Ursula B — Google review
Never had such tasty, wholesome, vibrant, and breakfast/brunch. Unlike any place i've ever been. Indoor area is really cool with lots of plants and a moody eclectic decor. The outdoor seating is on the stone stairs outside and is a lovely spot. I visited twice. Once just for coffee and croissant seated outside, and once for a proper last day of holiday breakfast with my wife. Had the breakfast bowl (think warm porrage meets coconut milk chia pudding but with a huge variety of fruits, seeds and edible flowers), and the avocado sourdough toast with frid egg (this had juice tomatoes, micro salad sprouts, sweetcorn and was just a real wholesome colourful plate). The really helpful descriptive glossy menu was more like a descriptive sales booklet with photos. There are also a few pages dedicated to the team and explaining the coffee roasters and the bread guru there - this gave me a sense that they care about values and quality ingredients - the proof of which really was in the eating 😋. I actually cant wait to go on and in about this place to friends... they'll love me lol. Will be back
Stuart H — Google review
Excellent breakfast/brunch old-town cafe. International-friendly, broad selection of dishes and baked goods with lots of local sourcing. Cheerful, multi-lingual staff are very helpful and attentive. Source, roast, and proudly serve their own coffees. Leans into cycling theme (it’s Girona), but adds some fun organic homey feel.
Todd H — Google review
The best breakfast I had in a long time, if not ever. Staff makes sure that you have a good time, all smiles and very friendly. English is almost primary language here. All ingredients are local and fresh (on display at the counter) and the coffee is great - the founder couple started 2015 (10 year anniversary this year) with a coffee store (cf Coffee Mafia). We ordered delicious bagels, and fresh bread and even my small one loved the crunchy bread crust (unusual) and avocado topping. I was hammered by the taste of tomato, olive paste, balsamico, burrata bread and would highly recommend this. The love to detail shows in the dishes and every small design aspect of this superbe location. We sat inside as outside was all packed on a Sunday morning. But the bike-themed interior makes for a pleasant sit so you can spare some sun during your memorable stay.

First off, this place looks amazing and has a very cool decor and atmosphere. The food is also on another level - I wish I could visit again and again (but sadly I was in Girona just on a short trip). Vegetarian and vegan options available ❤️ The food is not only presented beautifully, but also tastes amazing, and the staff was very friendly and lovely (we didn't have problems communicating in English). The dessert (cake) was delicious too! Zero complaints! wish I had a bigger stomach

Federal Cafe is a trendy and cosmopolitan spot in Girona, offering a perfect start to the day with its breakfast and brunch menu. The cafe boasts natural light, tasteful design, and friendly service. It's known for its focus on eggs with creative recipes, toast with various toppings, and 'morning' burgers.
Great location! Tasty food! Great quantities! Everything was so fresh and the food arrived very fast! Wonderful location! The staff was very kind as well💙

Not my best breakfast in Girona. Unfortunately I do not know how something topped with Gruyere Cheese can taste so bland and rather rapeseed oil. Service is friendly enough but this place is rather “dogs-tolerated” rather than dog-friendly since there are only certain areas you can sit with a dog, funnyly the same floor & right next to the kitchen🤷‍♀️
Sezin S — Google review
I really liked this place and I would definitely go there again. I had some nutella pancakes, they are not on the menu but i had them anyway. The people who i sat with had egg, bacon on bread and they also have it in a gluten free version

I had such a great experience at this restaurant. Laura was an excellent waitress. She was so friendly and delivered everything timely, and made a great wine recommendation. The serving size was so big that I took half home. There are vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. Don't miss this cute little place at the entrance to the Jewish Quarter.
Tracey C — Google review
The food coming out of the kitchen looked delicious which really irritated me as the" Reuben" sandwich they served me was the worst I have ever eaten . Certainly no American , much less a New Yorker would recognize it as such. Served on some kind dry toast , cheese unmelted, a couple of slices of " pastrami" and some sweet red cbbage....a slathering of Thousand Island dressing would have helped... anything to help slick it up a bit .....of lord. even now it's sitting like a rock in my guts.....added insult , cold " hand cut fries" ... My wife however, liked her pumpkin curry. I guess that's something... What a shame. My first meal of the New year....Hopefully not a harbinger of things to come!! As a plus , the staff is friendly and I guess I had bad luck....Still ... Advice to kitchen:. Don't serve a sandwich you don't know how to make... and charge nearly 10 Euros for it....

They have great vegan options, which I really appreciated. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the service was attentive. Especially the French-Catalan waiter was super kind 🌻

Kind staff, quite a lot of healthy options, some plates are a bit overpriced though. If it is not too crowded, it is a nice place to work !

We had breakfast at this place first thing in the morning. It was fantastic with the menu more suited to North American tastes. My blueberry French toast with yogurt was tasty, and my wife’s bowl of eggs, yogurt, avocado and a little spice with paprika and chili butter was a new flavor combination.

Nestled in a prime location along the picturesque River Girona, The River Cafe is an inviting spot that draws visitors with its stunning views of iconic landmarks like the 'cul de la lleona' sculpture and the basilica of Sant Felix. Open from morning until late at night, this cafe offers a delightful array of food and drink options, including their renowned kebabs available all day long. With an impressive 90% of their menu being gluten-free, it’s a haven for those with dietary restrictions.
We stopped over for a beer earlier in the afternoon. We got some tapas (which were amazing) and were ready to set off on our way. Until, the lovely Carlota stepped on the scene. She greeted us with the warmest of welcomes and we had the absolute best conversations. The food was amazing, however the hospitality from all of the staff is enough for us to recommend this place to ANYONE and EVERYONE. Shoutout to my girl Carlota

Wasn’t a fan of the vermouth and the olive spread. Also didn’t know the mussels would be tinned so be aware! Patatas Bravas wasn’t great either. I wouldn’t go back but the location was ideal. Also the service was great!

Place and atmosphere is perfect. Waitress was so nice and kind! We loved the food and cocktails were really nice! It’s not expensive even tho it’s in Girona old city next to cathedral.

Great place with a view of the Church of St. Felix - especially beautiful in the evening. The vermouth is just wonderful, it is very pleasant and calm to sit here. Magical atmosphere.

We ate "river hamburger", "bocata pepito" and "patatas bravas". Everything was extremely delicious and we were more than happy with the ambient and such a welcoming and nice staff! Location is great and the terrace is huge. I will definitely be back and I will recommend this place to everyone who will travel to Girona. 🥰

Just stopped in for a quick drink. Such a cute place, perfect attentive service and I CANNOT stop thinking about the anchovy stuffed olives- we had to order them all over again because they were so good. Will definitely be back.
Dave — Google review
The blonde women was quite rude, she didn’t try to communicate and had a very unpleasant attitude. She even gave me a completely different drink than I had ordered. The young man on the otherhand, he was kind a did speak English. Also tried to joke a little bit. Just sad that I asked for a café but I only got a tiramisu .. the sausage with goat cheese was great tho ! Go there for the food, not the service 🤷‍♂️

Cafeteria El Pessic, also known as The Pinch, is a charming cafe located on Placa Catalunya. It offers a delightful selection of homemade pastries such as chocolate and almond-filled croissants, apple tarts, palmeras, and Catalan cocas. In addition to their delectable pastries, they serve quality coffee, refreshing juices, and a variety of filled baguettes for those craving something savory.
Excellent breakfast with a wide selection of large sandwiches & tasty pastries. Very good coffee
Kim M — Google review
I received the worst service ever. I went early in the morning and found a young lady and a young man who were not particularly friendly, especially the young man. Saying "Buenos días" seemed like an insult to them. I ordered a cappuccino and sat outside; a few minutes later, the young man brought it. He handled it carelessly and spilled it, as you can see in the photo. He didn't say "sorry," he just placed it on the table. I said thank you, and he turned away without saying "de nada." I sat there fuming but calm at the same time. Seeing him serve other people carefully and with a smile is when I realized I might have been the problem. I don't want to say it was because "I'm Black," but yes, I am Black and from Italy. N.B.: I didn't drink the overpriced cappuccino and water, for which I paid €5.50. Diabolical, isn't it?
Bernard A — Google review
Entrepan was ok. The bread itself was the best part. Chicken was average. A bit expensive compared to other entrepan places. Long prep time. The main water at the time was acting nonchalant. Felt weird, like he didn't want to sell. Maybe because I walked in and didn't order from the table? Upon serving he just put the basket there and walked off. Maybe a bad day
Thomas V — Google review
Great pastries, coffee and sandwiches! The service is relatively fast and there’s plenty of seating outside. We ordered one of the giant croissants - chocolate - and besides being enormous it was also delicious and fed our group of 5 for multiple meals. If you want the giant croissant, make sure to order it the day before and they will have it ready for you in the morning.
Kathryn H — Google review
Excellent little café/restaurant! My wife and I spent a pleasant few hours on the terrace watching the world go past. The waitress was delightful….. (we wish we could have spoke Catalan). Totally recommended!!!!
William G — Google review
Stopped by for a quick lunch, the baguette sandwiches were pretty on point and portions are pretty big. I topped off with a pain au Chocolat, and theirs was quite sweet and chewy (in case you don't like that), but I thought it was a different but nice take on a classic viennoiserie. Coffee was surprisingly great, and service was a bit slow at first but friendly and fast once it got started.
George G — Google review
Great pastries, coffee and my favourite- camomile tea! It’s a cosy, lovely place with plenty of seating outside. The pastries are always fresh, crunchy- just delicious! The presentation of the food is pleasant and cute, and the staff are usually busy but kind and welcoming.

Catalonian restaurant
La Taverna d'El Foment is a casual tavern located in the old town of Girona, offering a delightful experience with Catalan cuisine and local drinks like ratafia. The place is known for its amazing cheeses, meats, and dishes such as anchovies on tomato bread, spinach & pine nut croquettes, black pudding, canelo de pollastre (chicken and foie cannelloni), and sweet Botifarra sausage with creamy potato and apple.
Made a terrace reservation before they opened but didn’t really need one if you wanted to eat inside. The staff was really friendly and spoke English as well. The English menu was comprehensive and had a lot of great choices. We ordered the anchovy filets with tomato garlic toast - this was so delicious. For entree we ordered the beef with mushroom and fries— the fries and mushroom sauce was delicious! The grilled bass was a big piece and perfectly cooked paired with various grilled veggies. For drinks we tried both the red and white vermouth. Dessert was the creme de Catalan - which is a must get!

Really enjoyable good authentic eatery. Went back twice ,some dishes excelled more than others. Liked the clams, sea bass, and squid all cooked perfectly. Asparagus not as much. Craft beer on site was great too. Chill staff too. Recommended!

Incredibly helpful staff who managed to get us a table despite being busy, and the food was absolutely delicious too. Even better, the tapas servings are quite large and the prices are incredibly reasonable! Brilliant!

Waiter with one earring was really nice, even though they were full and really busy, u could feel that he cares about us. Food was good. Food came really fast. And at the end we got free shots of some special liquor. I recommend the place.
Aleksandra — Google review
One of my favorite place in Girona with good dishes, variety of beers and wine, and of course lovely staff. We started with beer and cava and then goat cheese rolls salad with honey vinaigrette and it was perfect. Beef entrecôte steaks was big and delicious. Roasted vegetables with sheep cheese was tasty and delicious. Also at the end of the meal we offered Ratafia on the house which was one of the best local ratafia I’ve ever had. We look forward to going back in our next trip to Girona and try different dishes.
Sam S — Google review
Very good food, service and atmosphere. Highly recommended. Some tables were reserved. A short waiting time, maybe be needed or book in advance. This is a photo of the traditional goats cheese curd with honey dessert which was very good but doesn’t come out as well in a photo.
Sallyann B — Google review
It was a slow night, so I had the benefit of very personalized service from the chef. I chose the 9-course tasting menu, and I recommend you do too. Yes, it was a lot of food, but not overwhelming. Each course was exceptionally well thought out and balanced. The flavours were familiar yet also surprised me with textural elements that made each course a pleasant experience. This chef is meticulous and thoughtful. Each dish follows necessarily into the next creating a flavor narrative that makes sense. I decided to go with a bold red wine and glad I did. Although the menu I had lacked scent elements that other chefs attack with zeal, many of the dishes focused on great flavours with little smell leading up to eating it. In my experience, this allowed the wine to nicely cleanse my palate between courses. This is a great experience, a beautiful atmosphere, and is worthy of being a top choice for restaurants in Girona. I'll be back!

La Comuna Café, founded by Jan Frodeno and his wife Emma, is a popular spot in Girona known for its specialty coffee and healthy, comforting food. The cafe has become a favorite among influencers, locals, and professional cyclists due to its modern atmosphere with stylish decor. It's an ideal place to kickstart your day with locally-sourced coffee from small producers while enjoying a moment of tranquility away from the city's hustle.
I've tried multiple cafés during my stay in Girona, and ultimately kept coming back to La Comuna! They conveniently open at 7.30am, great if you go on an early-ish bike ride. Coffee is good, both black and oat milk versions. Plenty of food options and make-your-own style pancakes and eggs. Highly recommend the eggs with yougurt sauce. Spacious, and nice atmosphere!

Absolutely outstanding experience at La Comuna in Girona! The food is simply exceptional — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. And the coffee? Honestly, one of the best I’ve ever had — rich, smooth, and made with true passion. What impressed me most was the positive energy of the place. Even though times were difficult for me back then, I felt an incredible sense of calm and good vibes the moment I walked in. There’s a unique aura here — a mix of creativity, warmth, and authenticity that makes you want to stay longer than planned. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Girona — La Comuna is more than a café, it’s an experience.

This spot situated on the picturesque street near the old town walls. It is modern, vibrating, specious and welcoming. The stuff? 10/10 professional, easy going and polite on each step of your experience here. The food is delicious, honest and fresh. You can see it on my photo. I love it when I can actually SEE what I eat. Coffe - most delicious in the city so far. I got flat white this time and I stayed for 2h almost, cause you just don’t want to leave😂 Also they have Pilates and barre here. If I were the citizen of Girona I’ll be definitely visiting it. The hall for the training looks stylish and relaxing. They really spread the idea of the castle and historical heart of the place and discover it in a modern way.

Cozy and nice place , with good food and coffee. By the kitchen is SO slow, thy can’t even handle the amount of customers inside - you have to go several times to the counter and try to place your order. Also beware - they have they own classification of coffee types , where latte differs from cappuccino not by amount of milk, but by putting cocoa powder to your coffee (without you knowing it).

A wonderful location on way to Cathedral in a lovely atmospheric small square with large trees Sat outside in evening in late February and tried different glasses of organic wine from locality. We were told about the wines in a very informative way. All were excellent We then ordered a cheese board to share, it arrived and we were blown away by how good it was. A meal in itself, fantastic tomato bread to accompany it. All for 19€. Fantastic value

Great wine, food and atmosphere to spend your end of day. We booked a table for two and could enjoy a few wines and great vegan food. Yes, they have vegan options of cheese and super tasteful olives, huge freshly made empanada, tomato bread.. everything very well made. Their own production of orange wine is a must try. The service can be a bit slow because they have so many people, but really worthy the wait. Thank you!

The coolest place in Girona! Great vegetarian food, nice service and natural wines to die for !!! Thanks, well done
Neka G — Google review
The wine is great, the service excellent. But the food, I do not know. We ordered nachos that were called "spicy". I believe there is a huge difference between spicy (that me and my husband like) and spicy as hell, painful to eat. After that dish everything tastes like nothing, even wine. It should be clearly stated at the menu, cause I am really worried about my stomach now.

After a few drinks next door Boothroyd and Madge staggered all of 10 meters to this lovely bar. Another small interior space with more tables outside. Enjoyed wine, vermouth and (craft) beer on our visit.

The place also serves well-made traditional Spanish food for lunch. Customers praise the fresh and tasty flavors of the food and appreciate the reasonable prices.
Very delicious! The Xuxo with Crema Catalan was the best. The one with whipped cream was also nice, but the one with berries was a bit less flavorful. The organic drinks were a nice add-on and tasted great.

This bakery, pastry shop, and bistro is very convenient. There is a small indoor seating area where customers can enjoy their purchased food and drinks. The toilets are clean and free to use. We tried the focaccia, cheese rolls, tiramisu, and red velvet cake, all of which were delicious. The establishment also offers take-away options and serves freshly brewed coffee. The service is good and the staff are kind and attentive.

Great coffee quality but we wanted to try famous xiuxos, they were not fresh and not delicious as I expected. Bathroom was a disaster.
Elham G — Google review
Our guide at Free Girona Walking Tour recommended xuixos and even though I don't really eat sweet stuff, we decided to try and bought an original and an orange one to try. The original feels like a donut with custard cream and it was not too bad. The orange one with chocolate drizzle was a little more unique and tasted better. Coffee was not bad too.

Xuixos are amazing... the most fresh, lightest, fluffiest cream ever... had to go in to buy more for the road.. very good coffee. Sandwiches were really tasty as well

We stopped by Casamoner while exploring Girona for a day. They have a lot of different xuixo flavors and we tried a traditional crema xuixo. The pastry didn't seem very well filled. It was a lot of air in the middle. Overall, we thought that xuixo was OK.

(Translated by Google) Casa Moner in general had seemed to me a good place to buy cakes and more included to have a touch. But the last time I bought a cake I did two things. 1- That the chocolate and walnut cake is really mouth-watering, that is to say the chocolate part has a lot of density, but just a little of this part already makes you not want to try more... a little disappointing for everything that they do well 2- To write Happy Birthday to a cake I was told that I had to order it a week in advance, and I was very surprised, since I have acquaintances who are pastry chefs and something that can be done in 5 minutes at most that they tell you that you have to order it a week in advance, I don't know to weigh a little if it's really worth coming to buy here or not, because the prices for what they do and give to the public are not are step the most appropriate (Original) Casa Moner en general m'havia semblat un lloc bo per comprar pastissos i mes inclòs per prendre un toc.

Offering baked goods like pastries and cakes, savoury items like sandwiches, as well as coffee in this central location, this bakery has their baked goods on display for takeaway at the front and a coffee shop with seating at the back. If you want both cake or a pastry and coffee, you can order at the back counter and they will bring it to you for you to enjoy dining in. Unfortunately the coffee wasn't the best and the froth didn't hold form. Also, the xiuxo I ordered was quite oily leaving a lot of oil residue on my fingers and the napkin it was placed on, otherwise the taste was very good. The staff didn't speak English but service is otherwise OK. There's also a bathroom upstairs if you need a toilet break.
Adrian M — Google review
No vegan or gluten-free options, with courtesy and friendliness forgotten. The pastries were good, but the price was high considering the sloppy service and lack of attention to the customer.

Our fave bakery in Girona, we always stop by here when we visit Girona. Their bocadillos are fresh and tasty. Their pastries are light, could be richer, filling could be more creamy. Cakes are not up to standard, too dry and not buttery. Coffee drinks are good and reasonably priced.I hope they can improve on the cakes and pastries.

This place is pretentious and snobby... I've just come out of physio so I'm in tracksuit type casual clothing. I was looked up and down by these people like I was a hobo!! Coffee not too bad... looking forward to see how much they charge me! I will not be coming back so they can enjoy my hobo money!! I would not recommend this place unless you are in an evening gown, then you will fit right in!! I haven't been in the Pastisseria just the café... this comment is for the rude and unwelcoming staff in the café, you made a potentionally great space an awkward and cold place! (I will have to try the Pastisseria and comment!)

This place is heaven for sweet lovers; everyone in there turns into a kid in a candy store... So much pastry and chocolate to choose from, it all looks mouth watering good, and whatever we've tried so far actually is. Understandibly, queues on Sundays and on holidays.

Best pastry shop in town, no doubt. Mousses, cakes, chocolates, etc.. Don't miss the "rus" cake or the walnut praliné mousse. It's not cheap, but it's well worth the price. There's also a bar space where you can have breakfast of a quick bite.

You have to visit Tornés to try the authentic Xuxo. The best in Girona, being well balanced between pastry and cream. Don't give them a 5 star because coffee is not special at all. The place is pretty. Is not located in the best part of the city also. Not as centric as one would like.
