Silica Restaurant & Bar is a charming dining spot located in Kiama, Australia. This restaurant offers a delightful culinary experience with its diverse food and drink options. It's known for its picturesque views, making it one of the best restaurants to visit in Kiama Municipality. Whether you're looking for a romantic dinner or a casual meal with friends, Silica Restaurant & Bar provides an inviting atmosphere for all occasions.
Didn’t disappoint at all. We had a three course set with the pasta night set, absolutely amazing values. The king prawn tempura was godsent, so big and fresh. Also loved the fresh salad and the peach dessert. Would recommend!

My partner and I chose to celebrate our 4-year anniversary at this restaurant based on its high Google review rating. Sadly, the experience fell far short of our expectations. We opted for the set menu (as pictured), but the portions were disappointingly small. To make matters worse, the waiting time between each dish was unreasonably long. Our dinner lasted over two hours, but 90 minutes of that was spent waiting, as it only took about five minutes to finish each dish due to the tiny portions.
Mario V — Google review
We went for lunch and we both had the fish and chips and it was amazing! The best fish and chips I have had to date! Washed down with a great glass of moscato! I recommend giving this place a try. We will definitely come back when we visit Kiama again.
Katrina G — Google review
The food here is awesome. Had an amazing seafood lunch. All tasty and fresh. This is Friday 251 which represents five years of Friday seafood lunches. This one was right up there great food, great vibe and great staff.
Chris L — Google review
We were having course dinner here, the foods here are nice and we ordered scallop for our entrees, duck confit and beef steak for our main courses.
Patrick G — Google review
Had a lovely dinner at Silica tonight with my elderly parents who live locally. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and the setting was lovely. The food was absolutely SENSATIONAL. I had the Kingfisher crudo for start and pork for the main and both were exceptional. I tried my father’s beef main also which was also great. I’ve eaten all around the world at various fine dining establishments and don’t remember a more delicious restaurant meal in recent memory. Highly recommended. (Generous pours on wine by the glass also which is always welcomed).
Mike P — Google review
Went for dinner, which is a tasting menu, and the food was good, modern Australian which isn't my favourite cuisine as I prefer bolder flavours, but was tasty. I especially loved the dessert. Service was good, and with a full restaurant the dishes came out at regular intervals - the kitchen must run like clockwork! The ambiance was difficult to digest though, lots of concrete and wood, lots of echo, which meant the moment it was full, I had to raise my voice for my partner to hear, and the servers were leaning in and talking in our ears to ask our drink orders. Good for food, terrible of you want a romantic date with conversation.
Ash S — Google review
We recently held our wedding reception here, and it was absolutely perfect from start to finish. The food was incredible — every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavour, with our guests still raving about it. The attention to detail throughout the entire evening was outstanding, from the décor to the timing of each course, making the whole experience seamless and stress-free. What truly made the night unforgettable was the staff. They were warm, attentive, and professional, going above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly and that every guest felt looked after. Their kindness and genuine care made us feel so special. Thank you for helping make our wedding day everything we dreamed of and more. We couldn’t recommend this place highly enough!

We had the pleasure of working with The Hungry Monkey for our wedding, and we couldn’t be happier with the entire experience. From the initial planning stages to the service on our big day, everything was seamless and truly outstanding. The team was incredibly easy to work with, offering helpful suggestions and making sure every detail was taken care of. On the day of the wedding, the service was top-notch, and the food… wow! Our guests couldn't stop raving about how delicious everything was. Beyond the burgers, Hungry Monkey Kiama fuels your day with surprisingly great coffee and flavour-packed burritos. Don't sleep on their fritters either – a delicious and satisfying addition to their coastal offerings. The staff is as amazing as their food.
Rahul S — Google review
It’s been about eight years since I was last in Kiama and my first stop in town was The Hungry Monkey. This cafe consistently puts out fantastic food and unbeatable coffee. We stopped here for lunch after driving down from Sydney and I decided to get an oat flat white and the morning glory bowl with poached eggs. The bowl was fantastic and I felt a lot healthier after eating it. The coffee was top-notch. I’d recommend this cafe to anyone visiting Kiama.
Jarrod H — Google review
Food was great coffe top notch! we went here twice and it is a very popular place understandably. Has an intentional understated low-key old school house vibe. Siting out on the walkway on old park bench tables in June wasn't the coziest of experiences but good spot to catch up with large groups over brunch.
Aaron J — Google review
Had their Single royale burger 8/10. Friend had hot cakes wasn't expecting to be extremely salty. Mistook the salt flakes to be coconut flakes. Mouth became extremely dry after hotcakes no sugar or syrup could save him. Had the flu shot and an aerated latte. Lovely service by staff!
M S — Google review
Absolutely lovely cafe in Kiama, the staff were so welcoming. The food was delicious and coffee fantastic. Great surroundings and you kich even meet Steve the resident Magpie, Highly recommend 👌
Veronica L — Google review
Both me and my partner both ordered burgers, cooked to perfection. Our table waiter was super nice and helped us out with all our request. Ordered a chai latte and Nutella hot chocolate both were made well and came out quick! Will be coming back.
Rosie G — Google review
Nice cafe for breakfast, okay service - food has good flavours (ordered the OG chilli scramble special). Wouldn’t recommend adding bacon - $7 for a few small pieces. Waitress was happy to bring out new ice lattes as the first ones were too sweet. But service in general left us feeling the overall experience was 4 star (lack of greeting, checking in on the meal and drinks, etc)

Seriously.... I know I always say this but this restaurant is next level. Location opposite the Beach but the highlight is the food and service. The younger waitress was so cool. The Seniora was feeding us as if we are were her extended family. Entrees of Garlic prawns , bruschetta , pizzas , steak and pasta took us straight back to Southern Italy. Well done guys.
David — Google review
This was our second time here, and even better then the first. The food was delicious, starters were Money Bag and pork belly, mains were roast vegetable stack and a roast vegetable salad with smoked barramundi added. Simply scrumptious! Very attentive service, good value, tables well spaced to allow some atmosphere and privacy. We've put this on our must do list for when we're back in town.

Awesome food and service. Portions are huge so be ready to take some home. Very busy so recommend booking. Great value for money.

Discovered this amazing place in Kiama, the atmosphere was excellent, the food was above and beyond and the service was excellent extremely professional. Definitely worth every pennie. The food is to die for, and you won’t be disappointed. Prices are also great for the food you eat and enjoy. Definitely be back again thanks guys ❤️❤️❤️❤️

So lovely of olive&vine❤️‍🔥 it was great restaurant. I have a wonderful dinner with friends in the restaurant. Perfect food, professional service, kind staff. Delicious dessert for a friend's birthday. Five-star recommendation. I will definitely come again next time. The filet steak was medium rare and tasted 100%. But I love pasta the most. The seafood is fresh. Can I have another one🥳
彭旭維 — Google review
Came here for dinner tonight with my partner with no booking, the manager was very accommodating and managed to find us a table even though it was extremely busy. The waiters were very friendly and helpful. We got a parma pizza and a chorizo pizza and both were absolutely fantastic and were exactly what we were hoping for. I'm not one that has ever really tipped before but I definitely did tonight. Bravo! Will be back again.
Connor M — Google review
This is my second visit to this restaurant and you know what, I couldn't fault it. The wine is incredibly reasonably priced and the young staff are pleasant, efficient without being overly attentive, and really good at what they do. Food comes out quickly, and are reasonably portioned (though I think the pasta dishes are pretty huge!). The duck, according to my mother, was "out of this world". I had a perfectly cooked beef fillet (ask for a little extra hollandaise, it's delicious). Son loved his pizza and dad very much enjoyed his pasta marinara. The star of the show was the crème brulé which I could frankly could just eat for every meal for the rest of my life, but that would be impractical and probably slightly unhealthy in the long term. Anyway, if you're in Kiama, give this place a go, you won't be disappointed.
Victoria H — Google review
RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! Service is great! They also offered a slice garlic pizza each before we place our order, strong flavour of olive, personally don’t like olive but appreciate it! ⭐️Bruschetta - very impressive sourdough - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside!! and the tomatoes are very fresh too with lots of it placed on the sourdough 8.5/10 ⭐️Margarita - not the usual margarita but it’s impressive as well! you can see them baking it in the wood fire! 8.5/10 ⭐️Twice cooked duck leg - very well cooked, it’s juicy and so soft inside; it’s paired with potatoes and sweet pear 8/10 ⭐️Beer battered fish with fries - fish is ok and quite crispy; fries are good! 7/10

Such a lovely place! Food was really good and well presented. Yummy fish tacos and veg brekkie (I forgot the name) but tasty and fresh stuff. Excellent service by Stephanie and Viv. They were so kind❤️

Stopped by here en route to huskisson. Great little spot, a simple attractive menu with food that speaks for itself. Coffee really hit the spot. Staff were all very friendly. Some of the negative reviews I’ve read sound made up to be honest! Might drop by again on the way back to sydney for lunch!

Lovely restaurant near the blow hole and lighthouse. Has indoor and outdoor, exposed seating. Nice water views from outdoors. Lovely menu choices, prompt and friendly service. Lots of seating indoor and outdoor. Toilets nearby. Level access from street. Prices are competitive for the area.

Located at 1 Blowhole Point Road, Kiama, New South Wales, Australia 🇦🇺, Edit - Have returned quite a few times now, at various times of the day. Again, I was happy with the service, food and overall experience. So were the other people in my group. Would still recommend. 😃 A great little spot for a quick meal or like me, a beautiful breakfast. I had fried eggs and bacon on toast which was delicious. The food was delicious and flavourful. The views were amazing and the staff were friendly and helpful. Had a great meal before going for a walk to the Kiama Blowhole which was just a very short Walk away. Very popular with the locals I believe which is always a very good sign. Thumbs Up!!!👍👍😋😊

Loved visiting Diggies. We went to the Kiama blowhole and then dropped in for a bit to eat and drink before we headed off. Food and seafood is fresh, affordable and the drinks were delicious. Great to hear different nationalities taking around us too. Will be back!!

From the moment we walked in for breakfast until we left, everything was amazing. The friendly waitress welcomed us with a smile and a Good Morning. The coffee was delicious and the food was outstanding. A huge compliment to the chef, the poached eggs we had, were the best we have ever tasted. We were so impressed with our breakfast on the Saturday we returned for breakfast this morning, Sunday 19th October. Again we couldn’t fault the service or food. Very happy to support this diner whenever we are in Kiama. We will definitely be back.
Vicki F — Google review
Cute cafe near the Kiama Blowhole. We stopped here for breakfast. They were very busy, so it took awhile to get our food. I ordered the Big Reg, which is a form of the Big Breakfast only without any bacon or sausage, which had to be ordered as a side. I also had a cappuccino. The food was good. We wanted to sit out of the sun, and it was too windy to have table umbrellas up, so we sat indoors. Service was friendly and they worked hard. Since it was an Australian holiday, there was a surcharge added to the bill. It's only a short walk to see the Blowhole, a little ocean pool, and the beach.
Joy S — Google review
The staff and food are amazing! Good old fashioned service with genuinely friendly staff. We were offered either inside or outside. Chose the outside option. Beautiful and comfortable setting. We would definitely return.

Delicious and fresh fish and chips. We absolutely enjoyed our fish and chips. The children had fish cocktails, I had grilled Barramundi and my hubby had the beef burger. Everyone raved about how nice it was. The lovely staff member went out of her way to make sure I could eat there as I have a sever allergy to Egg and Chicken, I was so grateful for her efforts as it meant I felt safe and could enjoy lunch with my family. I highly recommend Jaws Fish and Chips. Thank you so much.
Brigette S — Google review
Bit of a wait for foods but worth the wait for fresh fish & chips. I ordered the whole fisherman's basket, which was enormous (1-2kg of deep fried goodness) and could easily feed 4 people.
Chippity C — Google review
Really good fish & chips and value for money. The batter was light, crispy, and good color. It didn't taste like it was frozen. It's definitely worth the 2 hour drive. Went on a busy day, and the service was really good.
Hung P — Google review
Drove down from Sydney. It is actually good place to have some seafood. Decent price and good tasty food. Staff is very friendly and calm.
Hasan M — Google review
Tried flathead fish and chips. Only 3 slivers of small cut fish. Taste was just standard. You need to pay extra for any dipping sauce, making it very expensive for what you get. The worse part is that we waited for more than 30 mins, with about 10 other people waiting before us. Not worth it.
Alan K — Google review
Best fish and chips in the area. Highly recommended!!
Mohsin M — Google review
We came in about a month ago for dinner. As a kiwi, I love a good feed of fish and chips. There was a lovely young girl who was working on her own, she handled the work so well and told me to take my time in looking at the menu. Her customer service was absolutely fantastic and her cooking was just as amazing. I wish there was more places like this to go too. I've been meaning to put my review on and im sorry it's taken so long. I definitely will be back. Thank you once again. Cherish ✨️
Cherish G — Google review
Pretty standard fish and chips. Everything was decent except portion size was a bit lean on with chips. I appreciated they chucked a couple of extra calamari rings maybe because they thought them to be a bit small or maybe just to be nice. They were not stingy with lemon either with two good size quarters. It did not repeat on me so I think the oil is kept fresh.

From the moment I walked through the door, I was greeted with warm smiles and an inviting atmosphere that set the tone for a fantastic dining experience. Each dish was a masterpiece, bursting with vibrant flavors that danced on my palate. The attention to detail, both in presentation and taste, was truly commendable. Whether you're a foodie looking for your next favorite spot or just in need of a delightful meal, this place is a must-visit. Can't wait to return and explore more of their delectable offerings!

After a walk around town looking for some where with a inexpensive lunch, we came to realise kiama is not a cheap place to eat, however this eatery had a reasonably price lunch special, with an extensive menu, the dishes were cooked to perfection, and hit the spot.
V H — Google review
Good Thai food place. It was really busy. The number of waitresses were really less even on long weekend so we had to wait like an hour before we got our order but I could see she was trying hard to serve everyone with best of her ability. The food was ok.
Manasee J — Google review
Me and my family stop by in kiama to have an early dinner before heading back to Sydney. Staffs are very nice. Food was great except for the stir fried chili sauce, its too bland. We told to the staff that it doesnt have taste at all. And they fix it immediately, Lily was so apologetic about the food. Overall, It was a very good dining experience.
Jessica F — Google review
We visited this place towards the end of September 2022. We arrived in Kiama quite late and we needed a place to have dinner and this is one of the restaurants I found that was open later than the other restaurant around the area on a Saturday night. Plus Google rated this place 4.1 out of the other restaurants around. So we opted to come here instead. The place wasn't so busy when we arrived and we were quickly seated. The entrée started off really well, we had the crying tiger and mixed entrée. Crying tiger was great! I quite enjoyed it. The mixed entrée was just ok. Unfortunately the main dish we ordered, masaman beef curry, was so watery and sweet. I was really disappointed as I quite enjoy Thai Food, but this is one of the worst I've ever had.

WARNING IF YOU HAVE NUT ALLERGIES!!! We ordered a Pad Thai, asked repeatedly and clearly for no nuts due to an anaphylactic nut allergy family member. Recieved a Pad Thai covered in crushed peanuts

Great food, fast service even for a busy Saturday night. The only small critique would be that everything is a tad too sweet. All good otherwise

Renowned for its plain hamburger, Jemfish Takeaway stands out with its commitment to quality and flavor. Great chips... very British in style. Shnitty Burgers are enormous... Enough for two meals. Fish is always pretty good. Basa being the pick of the bunch for me.

Great tasting Grenadier fish with copious amount of chips. Provided us cutlery so we could use. Warmly welcomed. First time for us, but about the 3rd time for our 9 year old grandson, who recommended Jewish. Who is going to argue with his recommendation.
Allan C — Google review
After reading all the reviews on the Fish n Chip joints in Kiama it was hard to decide which to try so I just went to the nearest which was Gemfish. We had fish cocktails, prawn cutlets, calamari rings, potato scollaps and of course hot chips. Extremely happy with all of it and wish I could have finished all that we ordered without exploding.
Greg W — Google review
Ordered takeaway on a Thursday night, horrible customer service on the phone no greeting just silence waiting for me to order. The only good thing about this order was that it took 5-10 minutes to be make. Ordered family deal 1, price in store was $10 more than advertised online. Asked for extra chicken salt, no chicken salt on anything. Every item of food was soggy as all hell, no crunch to anything. The whole large chips felt like they had been dunked in a bucket of water then served to us. Didn't eat any of them. Extremely disappointed after spending $60 on takeout and not even eating half of it. Highly do not recommend to anyone, spend your money elsewhere. Shocking fish and chips
Kaigyn T — Google review
Honestly one of the worse tasting burgers I have ever had everything was plain the owner doesn't care about the customer very disappointed, served from a cardboard box 😒
Joseph H — Google review
Jemfish is one of the best places in Kiama to get a good feed!!! There burgers are huge and delicious!!! There chips are freshly cut daily and are yum yum yum!!!! Great service definitely worth visiting if your in town!!!
Krystal M — Google review
Phone order gave me no confidence straight away but I still made an order. “What a mistake”. Maybe the worst fish and chips ever. Batter was so pathetic. Fish was over cooked. Potato scallops were disgraceful. These people need to go back to Fish and Chip school for beginners. My advice is to get a pizza.

Celebrated my birthday with a Saturday lunch at Cargoes. A building with history looking out on the lovely old harbour. Kiama is my home and I wanted a low key celebration. Actually the venue was terrific, food was good especially the fresh prawns and oysters. We could enjoy a wine and looking out on the rainy scene through the abundant windows was magic.

It's unbelievable the level of service from the guy who was at the counter. We found empty seat outside, while we were seated he came with couple of juice bottle and box of (something) and told it was reserved! I asked him when it was reserved as there were no signs, then he replied " I just did" there were other customers asking same question and he kept saying "because I said so" ...what on earth wrong with this guy? He has zero sense of hospitality and killed his own goodwill in front of so many. Rest assured will never step into this shop, not that foods are great. Posting this as people needs to know about the attitude of this owner ( guessing he owns this place)

What's with the reviews? I've been here heaps of times and it's always good. Most of the time it's extremely busy but got lucky today. Parking out the front and quick service. Best view in town. A gorgeous location and very good fish and chips. Thin batter and beautifully cooked fish, although a little oily this time. They also sell alcohol which would please some.

Food was good, fast and cooked to order. With how busy they can get it is understandable that it can be frustrating, but owners are blunt not rude at all like stated in other reviews. Nice views outside and fun to watch fishermen clean their fishes while we chill.

We had a beautiful lunch here, so much to chose from and great variety packs. We sat outside in the sunshine, great views! Very friendly and welcoming staff 😊

Update: It seems like new owners, but great! Haven't been for awhile. Asked for crispy chips and we got the best chips in a long time, and the fish was super fresh. We didn't get that fishy smell when we walked in. A great experience. And you can do card payments now too, previously it was cash only. Good on ya! 🐠 🐟 I will say, one drawback - we paid $6 for a 500ml water!!!! Way too expensive 😞 The freshest freshest freshest fish ever. Can't recommend it enough. They only take cash but do have an in-store ATM.

Food wasn't inedible. We had the fishermans basket. All of the seafood was dripping in oil, and the oil tasted like it hadn't been changed in months. The guy serving was nice enough, but the older lady cooking needs a lesson on customer service. I had gone up to buy sauce that we forgot to order, waited a couple of minutes, and then the guy looks out and sees that there is a line growing he went to.come.out and she stopped him and yelled 'they can bloody wait' then proceeded to winge about the order that people had ordered there food. I understand it was busy but one would expect that in the school holidays. Definitely won't be back. I wish we had read some of the reviews before wasting our money.
Renee C — Google review
The staff member was unexpectedly rude, shouting “cash only” from the kitchen rather than communicating politely or apologetically about not accepting cards. It was disappointing, especially as we had been looking forward to a seafood lunch by the water. Unfortunately, the poor service echoed what others had mentioned in reviews we initially chose to overlook.

This delightful eatery is a local favorite, known for its fresh and flavorful seafood offerings. With a menu that features crispy fish and chips alongside mouthwatering burgers, it’s perfect for a quick bite after exploring the area. The casual atmosphere makes it an ideal spot to enjoy your meal while soaking in the vibrant surroundings of downtown Kiama.
We got the butter chicken loaded fries and the fish and chips. Everything was sooo good!! Also cheaper than the other places around the area. Highly recommend the butter chicken loaded fries 😆 Customer service was amazing, the gentleman who served us was attentive and friendly!!!! 10/10 thanks for having us!!!!!!

We recently visited this popular takeaway in Kiama. The food was decent but nothing exceptional. We ordered the classic fish and chips and a kids fish cocktail box. The batter was light and crisp, and the chips were generous in portion, but overall, the flavours were quite average. There was a mix-up with our chips order, but considering it was a very busy weekend, it was understandable and the staff remained polite throughout. Schnitzel burger was extremely oily for some reason and I just didn’t get it. My kid has to leave it halfway thru and we chucked it. Service was prompt and friendly. The business owners (who also cook presumably) were on their toes serving customers and being accommodating. The meal offers good value for the price, especially given the location near the beach. However, if you’re looking for something memorable or outstanding, you might be a little underwhelmed. It’s a convenient spot for a casual bite if you’re in the area, but don’t set your expectations too high. Would love to try their Indian themed food someday.

Ordered some fish and chips for lunch. Interesting place that not only had fish and chips but indian food as well. Ordered two fish cocktail packs. On a positive, the chips were quite nice. The fish cocktails were average, a bit oily with a lot of batter. Service was friendly and efficient. Nice park across the toad to enjoy your food too.

Fish Tribe Project is a seafood restaurant located in Kiama Downs, known for its delicious and fresh takeaway meals. Visitors praise the perfectly pan-cooked Barramundi, well-prepared chips, and flavorful salads served in sustainable, recyclable containers. The restaurant's commitment to sustainability is evident through their use of eco-friendly packaging. Customers also rave about the mouthwatering fish dishes and fresh prawn cocktails, making it a must-visit for those craving a great seafood feast.
Best fish and chips I've had in a looooong time. Great value for 15.90 for a big pack of fish. Super fresh fillets. And crispy crumbed exterior. Chips were chunky with plenty of chicken salt. The house tartare sauce felt hand made and had capers in it. I might've been super hungry after my long beach walk but this hit the spot like no other, highly recommend you hit this place up if you're visiting cathedral rocks!
Anita L — Google review
(4.5 stars) Kiama Downs, a sleepy strip of shops geared mainly at locals, produces a surprisingly upmarket fish’n’chips experience, packaged up to eat on outside tables or take with you across the road to Jones Beach. Fish Tribe Project is the work of Emma and Jason Young, the couple behind Stacks Burger House & Eatery that emerged in the same strip two years ago. They’ve installed Executive Chef Robert Blackburn in the kitchen, and he’s used his fine dining experience (from venues like The Bridge Room and Cirrus Dining) to put a fancier spin on the old fashioned fish’n’chippie without losing what made it great. Battered fish & chips ($17.80) shows off his skills with a good fish-to-batter ratio, crisp exterior, and no oily aftertaste. The skin-on chips are made using Robertson spuds, grown about 45 minutes up the road. These spuds are also celebrated in the Robertson potato scallop ($3) that’s made on a big slab of spud, encased in crisp batter and then sprinkled with salt’n’vinegar dust. All that potato might not quite be what you’re used to, but it’s great! For the health conscious, the boxed up Cold Seafood Platter ($29) gives you shucked local oysters, firm king prawns, freshly cut Ulladulla tuna in a three-fish sashimi selection, plus a lettuce cup of freshly picked crab salad with all the condiments you’ll need. Baja Fish Tacos ($21/3) could be improved by better soft tortilla, however the interior of crisp battered fish, chipotle ‘slaw and avocado and tomato salsa garnished with coriander is great. Tucked away from the main streets of Kiama, parking was easy with lower crowds.
Jackie M — Google review
What a joke of a store, ordered a steamed fish and received something of a size of a leftover (see the photo how the $20 meal looked like right after opening the box). Is that holiday rip off tourist portion? Probably. Long 5 stars feedback/reviews from others with catalogue like photos read like something they've paid for. 2 stars as they provided the refund, but gosh, never seen smaller size, rubbish "meal" like this one in the entire country
Daniel — Google review
One of the best, if not THE BEST takeaway meal we have ever had. Perfectly pan cooked Baramundi, with chips cooked just right and a salad that beats most efforts by many restaurants and bistros. Actual salad with a tasty dressing not just a selection of wilted leafy greens. Served in sustainable recyclable container and a carry bag that we will keep in the car and use again next time to help save the planet and save the business some costs. We came across FishTribe by accident and so glad we did find this gem hidden away in Kiama Downs. We can't wait for the grand opening in December
Ric H — Google review
Delicious fresh battered fish and chips. If you're after a slightly fancy seafood option, this place is great. Even the side salad was actually good 😂
Rebecca J — Google review
Great people, excellent, quality food however, the price for fish and chips is overpriced for the small portion of fish you receive. Been there a few times to see if it was a “one off” but every time the majority of a box is filled with chips. Recently, we ordered the grilled fish and chips for my son and it took him only 3 normal bites to finish. Again, the service and quality of food is top notch but can’t see paying almost $20 for a small box of fish and chips.

Friendly owners / team members. We bought delicious Sydney rock and Pacific oysters from Merimbula and local lobster caught & cooked that morning. Made for a gorgeous seafood lunch! The friendly service adds to the welcoming atmosphere, making it a must-visit spot when exploring Kiama.
Kiama Pie Shop, located near Railway Parade and Terralong Street in Kiama, offers a delightful selection of Vietnamese bánh mì alongside their renowned pies. The Vietnamese pork roll is a standout, featuring tender pork complemented by fresh, crisp vegetables and a hint of chili for those who enjoy a spicy kick. The bread roll is notably crisp, enhancing the overall texture and earning high praise from patrons. For those seeking alternative fillings, the satay chicken with chili is a popular choice, delivering authentic flavors that satisfy the palate. Vegetarian options are also available, including a satay tofu roll and a lemongrass tofu roll, ensuring there’s something for everyone. The shop’s ambiance is simple yet inviting, with pleasant service that enhances the dining experience. While it can get busy during lunchtime, the quality of the food makes it worth the wait. In summary, Kiama Pie Shop provides a satisfying bánh mì experience, combining fresh ingredients with authentic flavors, all within a welcoming setting.

Not bad but not great either. For a pie shop I think I expected a little more from the pies. Soft thin bottoms and a mince meat filling in their “steak” pies. Bahn mi was flavourful. Customer service was good albeit accompanied by a bit of a wait. Probably wouldn’t come back.
Adam W — Google review
2 hours of mosquito plagued "sleep" on the side of the highway doesn't get a fella fired up for a great day ahead. Sure, it was my lack of planning that saw me in that predicament, but we can leave that part out of the story. Nothing lifts the spirits like an early morning pie and coffee. The Kiama Pie Shop was close by, so that's where I headed. I love a good seafood pie, and I've had some bloody good ones, so it's a hard one to top. Well bugger me. The one from here is now my personal favourite! Knocking the King Island Bakehouse seafood pie down into second place. Flakey pastry full of chunky morsels in thick creamy sauce. Every bakery loses a star rating if they charge for tomato sauce, (these guys charge 50c which is above average) but I'm gonna waive that penalty given the podium pie that I received. The coffee is damned good too. Today might just be a goodun yet!
Greg N — Google review
Best bahn mi and noodle salad bowls in Kiama, I am also quite partial to their pies and sausage rolls. They also do the classic roast chicken and gravy which is the only place you can get them in Kiama aside from Red rooster. The bread rolls are always fresh and crunchy. Honestly the only thing I could fault would be the coffee because I don't like the brand that they sell, but they are right next door to stocked which has amazing coffee. 10/10 would recommend!
Katie M — Google review
Very dull atmosphere inside the place. Pies were too hot to eat straight away, Pastry was bland & gluggy, fillings were below average Cheese & bacon + beef & onion. I’m assuming they forgot about the rest of the cheese & bacon & well 1straggly piece of onion is hardly an onion pie. The sausage rolls, Best described as a hot breadcrumbs fused with pork mince & pastry. Not enough tomato sauce to make it taste good Even a stray dog in the park turned its nose at the sausage rolls. Certainly not worth it.

Hidden GEM close to the train station. We absolutely loved their pies. We tried the steak cheese & bacon $6.5,steak and cheese$6.3, pepper steak$5.5, lasagna pie$6.7, and sausage roll.$4 (prices may have increased) The texture and flavor was on point it just explodes in your mouth ; yummy,my only wish was that the pies could have been larger.Definitely visiting again when holidaying down South.Highly recommend visiting this gem of a pie shop.💯 Shop opens at 9am get in early to pick up your favorites; otherwise, you might be disappointed.Busy on the school holidays.
Pat ( — Google review
Drove from Shellharbour specifically to try the pies because of the great reviews on here. I was impressed with the variety and it smelled wonderful inside. The interior was clean, spacious and inviting, and the service decent. I decided on the "curried chicken" pie and was a little disappointed to discover the chicken was minced, and not much of it, however it had a nice curry flavour overall. My husband tried the crocodile and asparagus, which also consisted largely of gravy, but had a sweet mellow taste; and the butter chicken, (again minced chicken), lots of gravy, and a genuine butter chicken flavour. The pastry was good on all of the pies we tried, and overall they were nice but I wouldn't say great. The sausage roll was very tasty. Price was very reasonable so can forgive the mince rather than "chunks" of meat, and the abundance of gravy. I'd say it's a decent offering for the price.

Reasonably priced. Fast service. I had the eggs Benny and a milkshake, they were good enough for a breakfast on the run. A little too much hollandaise, and the sprinkling of seeds was not for me. But they might be for someone else. I felt that the locals may be the preferred clientele. They were chatty with the locals but ignored me when I spoke to them and thanked them upon leaving.

We stopped by this cafe during our trip to Kiama and had a nice experience. The food was enjoyable, although there was a bit of a wait for it to arrive. Overall, the staff was friendly and the food was good.

The breakfast specials were great value. We got the bagel and coffee ($16) and the bacon and egg roll with coffee ($15) deals and both were made exceptionally well. Tasty and great value. Coffee was beautiful with a Fern leaf and beautiful smooth taste and perfectly textured milk. Will definitely be back. The atmosphere was also inviting and even though a few tables were occupied it was quiet enough to talk amd relax. It was very cold outside but nice and warm inside.

Waited 40mins for the worst meal - lukewarm smoothie, toast and burger bun were stone cold, they forgot the bowl of chips and we had to ask for them .... it wasn't even busy. Oh and avo smash requested without eggs was $18.90. What a disappointing lunch out, apparently they are training a new chef.

Unmissable Kiama brunch spot — flavour, location, and vibe all nailed. Wild Patch Café serves up generous, vibrant meals like the Herculean Breakfast and a standout Souvlaki Special that hits every note. Coffee and Matcha Latte were top-tier, and the relaxed atmosphere just steps from the lighthouse seals the deal. A must-visit for food lovers chasing quality in a coastal setting.

What a great little place. Fish and Chips were bang on. No oily batter on the fish, and the chips were crunchy and clean. Wonderful little side salad and a dip made for a fantastic light lunch. We actually split one order between two and they were more than happy, even bringing out a second plate and cutlery. The coffee was excellent also. I didn't catch the brand, but will do on our next visit. I didn't give 5 stars so I've got somewhere to go in the future.
Craig D — Google review
The salmon bagel and coffee of any size combo seemed like a good value, but turns out the bagel was very stale, nothing comparable to Starbucks bagels for example. The service was very slow despite the fact it wasn't too busy (how hard should it be to deliver an already-made bagel to my table?), it wasnt cut to two as was promised, and the barista seemed apathetic and uninterested in making my coffee (or someone else's who came after me), only after I reminded them about my coffee nearly 15 minutes later, someone else did it for me.

EXCELLENT 👌 On our way back from visiting in laws, we stopped for lunch here. The premises was so clean. Fast service. We went to look at the insane surf (crazy weather conditions) while food was prepped. The guy brought it out to us with a beautiful sunny disposition and it was EXCELLENT. Just go there. I’m not a hard marker but the fish & chips was ok but I’d definitely prefer quality over quantity. Generous serve but honestly tasted somewhat average for a coastal town .not local produce for sure. Shop & staff were clean & helpful , so not a bad review by any means but a fair amount for improvement on the Hake fillet & chips .

Very poor service and experience: We ordered food during off-peak hours (2pm) and had to wait for over half an hour. Everyone who arrived after us got their food, and some even finished eating and left. My husband had to ask twice before we finally got our food. On top of that, they handed us a bunch of food wrapped in paper in a very disorganised way, and when we opened it, we found that some of the items weren’t even ours. We asked them for some ketchup as a dipping sauce, and they gave us an entire bowl in a salad bowl and charged us five dollars for it. I think they’re out of their minds

Weekend drive to South Coast and stopped by for an early lunch, they welcomed us and even though we were ordering just the 1 fish n chips, they were happy to serve us. Chips were real good and fish was pretty decent as well for $16 and a short wait. Opened on time at 10 in the morning. Will be back for more, as a side note how beautiful is the view from round the corner.

This place used to be legendary when Effie owned it. Best burgers for miles and quick efficient service. Not these days. The staff are rude and clearly can’t coordinate cooking to order. After 25mins waiting I went up to ask where our food was as people who came after us had been and gone long before. Part of our order had been sitting on the counter for 15mins while the cooked the burgers. When the order came, the fish was so old and overcooked it was inedible. The burgers were not what we asked for and hygiene was lacking - holding money operating the cash register with the same gloved hand that was used to handle food. We definitely won’t return which is a pity as this place used to be a Gerringong institution.

Sails Bistro is an excellent option for dinner, offering prompt service and affordable prices. The generous portion sizes and delectable food make it a delightful choice. Although the staff are generally friendly, they may get overwhelmed during busy nights. On another occasion, a group of seven enjoyed their Friday lunch with a variety of tasty dishes like burgers, schnitzels, and fish chips at reasonable prices. Despite arriving later than usual and missing out on lunch specials, they were still satisfied.
Great place for dinner. The food was served fairly quickly and it wasn't expensive. The portion sizes were great and the food was delicious. The staff are all friendly but sometimes they can be run off their feet if its a busy night. I recommend this place.
Bart M — Google review
Kiama Sails Bistro has a small but amazing looking menu. By the look of the limited menu you would expect perfection in these dishes. Unfortunately both these dishes were pretty dry. The brisket burger had rings of red onion which were a bit of a surprise and lacked that meltey texture you would expect from a brisket. The side of chips were great though! The famous wings I am not sure what they are famous for. They were fried well, but lacked much flavour and were drizzled in what tasted like mayo. Cost to food ratio was amazing, but this is not a place to go for a top notch meal. Service was quick which was a plus and the environment, whilst a bit outdated was clean and relaxing. Will eat here again when I am in a rush of a quick fix.

Sail's restaurant is inside Kiama Leagues Club and is very popular. The food and staff are great. You always get a great feed there.
Richard L — Google review
I ordered the Korean fried chicken for entree and pork belly for main. The flavour of the chicken was okay but it was overcooked and quite dry. The pork belly skin was reasonably crispy and the meat melted in your mouth. It lacked any seasoning though apart from salt. The pork was served with a sweet potato mash/puree that was barely warm which was not really appetising and the cubes of potato needed more cooking as they were barely tender. The broccolini was cooked perfectly. I mentioned the sweet potato temperature to the service staff who tried to tell me that the mash/ puree is not meant to be hot. I always serve mash hot. Overall an okay meal but nothing to be excited about.

HALAL food (chicken)!. Absolutely magnificent! I had never tried red rooster before, but I can definitely and wholeheartedly say that this red rooster in Kiama is a MUST attend! 🌹😍🔥👌 One of the lady working there, she even kindly said to us that she will avoid cross-contamination of cooking, when it comes to HALAL meats! That was so sweet of her! 👍 We got their $13 meal box which included the chicken burger (your choice of burger), 1 large piece of crispy fried chicken, potato gravy, chips and a can of drink! 🌹💐🥳🤩 BETTER THAN KFC !! - try it out! 🌹

The food was really tasteless. I had the crumbed chicken (I could not see roast chicken in the menu) which was so hot I could not eat it. The crumb had no flavour. The potato and gravy was 80% gravy and 20% of what resembles potato. The pineapple rings were ok. The shop looked a little dirty too.

I have always lived the food from. RED rooster Kiama, the last 4 times the chips were horrible...they were overcooked, the looked and tasted like they had been cooked then reheated. They had no flavour or seasoning. The chicken was fine but the chips virtually inedible.

Chicken (crumbed) tasteless, small and looked like it had been sitting there for awhile, the chicken wing was so dry I couldn't eat it and was afraid to! The chips were cold and undercooked, and I ate- in so no excuse for cold chips. The pineapple fritter saved the day and the cold slaw was good . I was facing the air conditioner which was in desperate need of a clean. Won't be back , shame because I like pineapple fritters 😪

Always loved red rooster kiama and would travel 20mins extra just to go to this store but now new owners this store is terrible. The food is below average and the service is disgraceful. Won't be wasting my money here anymore.
Amie S — Google review
Friendly staff. Order the family size of fish and chip (10 pieces fish) and 1 whole roasted chicken ala carte that are enough for 5 people. Though the chip was a little bit too salty but I love the herb mayo (including in the fish and chip package).
Ribka F — Google review
Had a ripper roll. Roll was stale I couldn’t even chew it. The roll was so hard. Sauce and chicken was bland….never again. Chips were ok.
Eva G — Google review
The chicken was non existent because the the batter was over cooked and thick and we cooked eat as it was was so overcooked I was surprised when we a ordered it was given to us quickly and mentioned at the time

Fish & chips restaurant
Fish and chips takeaway
Cargo Fish and Chips is a delightful spot that has recently come under new ownership, bringing fresh energy to this beloved eatery. Diners rave about the crispy chips and incredibly fresh fish, which is free from any unpleasant odors. The atmosphere is vibrant, often bustling with patrons eager to enjoy their meals while taking in stunning views of the harbor. The location itself boasts historical charm and large windows that allow guests to soak in the scenery, even on rainy days.

Joe J — Google review
Food was good, fast and cooked to order. With how busy they can get it is understandable that it can be frustrating, but owners are blunt not rude at all like stated in other reviews. Nice views outside and fun to watch fishermen clean their fishes while we chill.
Andy T — Google review

The area and setting is so nice, it's a shame there's not a nicer place there. Lady in the store called us poor merely because we weren't hungry and served us in a rude, arrogant and racist manner. The atmosphere was average aside from the lady screaming and yelling for no reason, food was unbelievably average, way too greasy, and we had to season ourself.
Dami C — Google review
We were the only Asian there and the person working was extremely racist. Everyone else’s fish in their fish and chips size was fair, but we got a tiny one that was undercooked. There was also a dead bug inside our food which I don’t know how they didn’t notice. The only utensils they had was a fork. Nothing else. This service is absolutely pathetic and I hope no one comes to this restaurant.

If you're in Kiama and craving a delicious pizza, look no further than Domino's Pizza Kiama. This popular delivery and carryout chain offers an extensive menu featuring a variety of pizzas alongside tempting sides. Upon entering, you'll be warmly welcomed by the enthusiastic staff, including the helpful manager who goes above and beyond to ensure your experience is enjoyable. The service is impressively quick, with orders prepared efficiently so you won't have to wait long for your meal.
Thank you to the team at dominos for catering our large order this evening. It was ready on time & tasted great!
Sammi T — Google review
I recently ordered pasta from your restaurant, and I was very disappointed with what I received. The portion size was much smaller than expected, leading me to believe that it might not have been fully prepared or possibly tampered with before delivery. This experience was quite unsettling, and I hope you can address this issue to ensure better quality control in the future.
Ankur B — Google review
Last night we waited over an hour for a prawn pizza with 6 prawns, cheese and greens. Our worst pizza ever for $28.60. It's good there are three other pizza shops in town.
John S — Google review
If I could give zero stars I would, absolute joke of a store . Stay in Kiama every month, sick as a dog this trip and didn’t want to leave the hotel. Ordered Uber and paid for priority delivery. Order is sitting there for over 30 mins, call them and they tell me they thought it was a pickup and didn’t assign a driver which is the next step. Told them they could’ve called me rather than letting my food sit there. Zero initiative or care factor, store is run by a bunch of little boys, no manager. Pizza was cold and crap. Easily the worst meal I’ve ever had in my life. Stop supporting this store and let it close. Go to centre point and don’t waste your time or money

Located close to Kiama station. Friendly staff at the outlet. Quick service and order preparation. We ordered a large Peri Peri chicken pizza. Well prepared.
Joydip S — Google review
If I could rate 10/10 I would! Fantastic service on walk-in, and was greeted by the enthusiastic young manager straight away. (Great work Kyla!) Pizza came out quick, and was informed that I can get a free side with a survey after purchase. Manager was very helpful as I am technology illiterate, and helped me get the voucher for free side. Pizza Review: Cheesy crust was full of cheese, very delicious. Pizza was hot, but not too hot - just right to eat. I ordered a pepperoni pizza. The pepperoni was fresh, and was nice and crispy. I asked to meet the person who made my pizza, and it was a young bloke named Travis (thanks Travis)! I also ordered some garlic bread and a 1.25L drink. The lemonade was crisp, and chilled beautifully. The garlic bread was also cooked to perfection, and had a nice tang to it. Overall, very happy with my experience with Domino’s Kiama. By far the best Dominos in the Illawarra (if not the whole of NSW). Main takewaways: - Friendly and helpful staff, especially the manager Kyla and Travis who made my pizza. - Great storefront, clean and neatly packed fridge. - 10/10 overall, very very pleased with my service, experience and the pizza!! Thanks guys!

I honestly hate leaving a bad review but the staff at this store are terrible. young staff swearing and fooling around instead of taking orders. Staff talking to friends in the store. The young bloke giving mates his discount. The only person in the shop doing anything way the young girl and taller guy. The so called new guy is so rude he has zero people skills. The language was disgraceful truly disappointed

Always so stingy with the sauce and toppings from this branch consistently, every. Single. Time. And it's always mostly on one half, I don't expect it to be amazing every time, but I don't have this problem with any other Domino's.
