Mercado Estación Central is a bustling place filled with an array of delicious seafood and a strong character. It's reminiscent of San Jose, Costa Rica's central market but with fewer people during certain times of the day. Visitors are advised to be cautious as there are many thieves looking for opportunities to pickpocket or mug people. However, it's recommended to bring comfortable shoes, sunscreen, and spending money to enjoy the history of Mercado Estación Central and its surrounding area.

Metissage in Santiago is a popular spot for a Sunday breakfast, offering delicious food at reasonable prices. The ambiance is perfect for meeting friends, and the service is good despite the crowd. The bakery serves fresh bread and pastries, including Pain Au Chocolate and croissants. While some dishes like the Eggs Benedict are highly recommended, others such as brunch number 2 may be hit or miss. Overall, it's a great place to visit multiple times with its tasty menu and friendly staff.
Brunch option there is amazing! The avocado toast is a 10/10. The atmosphere is welcoming. One minus- they don’t have a coffee with normal cow milk:(

Went here for the Eggs Benedict and wasn't disappointed. My wife had with salmon and I had with ham. Both served on a thick slice of fresh bread. Very nice. A great breakfast stop. They also have an array of delicious baked goods, like their almond croissants. 😋

The place is small and cozy. It’s usually full and you may need to wait in line for a table if you arrive after 10:30. The bread is fantastic and combines perfect with its breakfast and brunch.

* No Olive Oil was served in the brunch. * No Vegetal Milks available (they just have regular and lactose free) Breads, coffees and eggs are amazing! The environment is cozy and comfortable, attendance is fine.

Came for a breakfast after doing some research on places around. The place is small but beautiful. Had a little difficulty with Spanish waiters but there was an English speaking who helped. We ordered the Benedict and it was enough for two. Came with a big portion of Benedict, two fresh juice, two croissants, and two cappuccino. My wife ordered the French toast which was very fresh and tasty. The surprising part was the granola that came with the Benedict. It was very tasty. The bill in the end was also cheap as compared to what we get in the US. Five stars

This place is a must try in Santiago. Made fresh daily bakery with a good selection of baked goods to go along with a unique menu. When traveling we rarely visit the same restaurants twice, but this place we went to multiple times. We tried a selection of their fresh breads, including their Pain Au Chocolate, fresh croissants, and a handful of menu items like Croque Monsieur, and Croque Madame, along with one of their fresh salads. Presentation and taste were very memorable: wish we would have allowed ourselves more time to take photos of everything, but it was so delicious we forgot. Couldn’t recommend a better bakery in the area. Parking is atrocious however, so plan ahead when visiting.
Alex W — Google review
What's great about this place is that you can bet it's open in the mornings... Even on some holidays. If you've been in Chile more than once you know that's a difficult mission. Besides hotels, finding a reliable breakfast joint is very difficult in Santiago. They have fresh baked breads, pastries and excellent coffee. On weekends try the brunch menu for two, which includes choices of, yogurt, eggs, sides, juice and coffee.

Eric Kayser is a French-inspired bakery and breakfast spot located near the Ritz-Carlton hotel. The establishment offers both to-go options and sit-down dining. While the cappuccino and pastries are excellent, some patrons found the croque monsieur to be dry and tasteless, not prepared in the traditional manner. With two locations in Santiago, Eric Kayser serves warm croissants, superb coffee, and a variety of pastries for take-home enjoyment.
Super delicious! We ordered Bife Chorizo and fries. The beef was the same quality as in Argentina. The fries are gorgeous! The atmosphere is also very nice. Highly recommended!
Gulnaziya N — Google review
Simple and fast breakfast option. Coffee was great. Scrambled eggs were perfectly prepared. Service (getting the check) was a little slow for late morning on a week day but otherwise a nice spot to grab breakfast at.
Maureen K — Google review
French inspired pastry/bakery breakfast restaurant around the corner from the Ritz-Carlton hotel. Half of the establishment is to-go and the other offers sit down options. The cappuccino was excellent and the sevice was friendly. Sadly, the croque monsieur was dry and tasteless. It was not prepared in the classical manner (which there are many variants) of dipping the bread in the egg or application of enough butter to change the consistency of the bread to absorb the melted cheese. Ultimately, it was inedible tasting like a stale grilled cheese. Clearly I ordered the wrong item! I would stick to the pastries and coffee! I refuse to leave bad reviews since the business is very hard. I hope they make changes to the menu to modify the recipe or delete the offering though.
Brian P — Google review
Almost everything sweet is borderline perfect, croissant is fire. Savory game like sandwiches is ok but overly hefty.
Ricardo G — Google review
The French renowned bakery, has two places in Santiago. One at Augusto Leguía street and the second, at Luis Pasteur street. Had an excellent breakfast, with warm croissants superb coffee. My friend had a Latte, with the typical leaf design between the white milk and brown coffee. Service was good as well as the variety of pastry available to take home.

Lovely little cafe with great coffee, great French pastries, and tasty food. Good location, and good service. Clean establishment.
Derek S — Google review
Still one of the best french bakeries in Santiago. White coffee is not great. They don't use whole milk, and the result is a watered down brevage. If you like french croissants and bread, and superb coffee, pay a visit to Metissage in Vitacura.

(Translated by Google) Yesterday was the first time I went to that branch, the lady who served me was pleasant, my issue is that I bought two bags of pre-baked marraqueta bread and one of ciabatta. In the morning when we went to bake it we realized that the marraquetas were with mushrooms. I feel that the lack of concern is great and I don't know if the products are being labeled again. Today I went again to tell what happened and the lady remembered me and told them that I was only going to tell them what happened, because I threw away the ticket yesterday when I got home so I only had the photos of the bread. The store manager told me if I had brought the ticket, she would give me a refund, something that she was clear was not going to happen because she knew I didn't have it. I made him see that, because he is handling money, he cannot handle the bag that will contain the bread I requested. She denied that it was in the box even when I saw it came out of it. Again I made him see his mistake and he continued to deny it. Another person came out from inside the store, apparently the manager of the store, in front of whom she continued to deny the fact, to which I had no choice but to call her a liar. I left the premises at the request of the boss and after another young woman attended to me appropriately. Without even speaking to me properly, she wrote down my numbers (for a manager of a restaurant, her attitude is very poor). La Popular Pizza and Pan is a bakery that has been around since 2016, with a second location opening in 2020. Tadeo Castelvero, an expert in sourdough bread, runs the place. The bakery offers addictive pizzas where sourdough takes center stage. In addition to their amazing bread, they also serve perfect croissants and delicious sandwiches.

Service is fine, pizza is great and for a great price as well ! (Always a margherita and one or two varieties available al taglio). Also tried the tomato eggplant pesto sandwich, absolutely terrific. The bread steals the show (crunchy and spongy and moist and airy) so I'll be returning to take some home with me. Desserts looked absolutely incredible but I didn't have the stomach for one. Yet another reason to return. Easy 5.
Pablo C — Google review
Excellent service, very attractive and simple little shop, and the quality is great. They have real sourdough varieties that look the part. They have a simple menu, with a few excellent sandwiches, a few focaccia pizza items, and real pizza along with several drink options. The sandwiches are just about perfect, and while the dough is on the tougher side ( as artisanal sourdough tends to be) it's was well balanced in terms of flavors and textures in their sandwiches. The pizza was a little different, however. The toppings were excellent, and the flavors were great, however in this case there was one caveat that for me is a deal breaker. The crust was too big for the toppings and the dough texture. The pizza was perfectly crisp, charred and looked amazing, but given that the dough is on the tougher side, having about a third of the pizza be plain dough was just too difficult to eat. My jaw was thoroughly tired by the end of the meal. The dough was surprisingly , and unfortunately bland on its own. Perhaps if there was a sauce to dip this would be more palatable, or making the crust area smaller, or sticking to the classic Chilean thin crust style pizza, but as is I won't be ordering it again. I understand what they are going for - that traditional, stone, brick oven tossed pizza, which again visually they achieved brilliantly - but the dough they work with just doesn't lend itself for that style. I shouldn't have to chew each morsel of crust like jerky; to avoid that unpleasant experience, they have several other options they could choose over their current method that would simply make the entire experience lovely. Besides my frustrating experience with the pizza that looks perfect, the rest is done quite well. If you enjoy artisanal sourdough bread, this is the place for you.

The atmosphere is upscale and well-maintained, providing prompt and friendly service. While the prices may be on the higher side, the quality of the food makes it worth it. Visitors rave about the divine cakes, with one mentioning how scrumptious they found them to be.
I Chilean but I live in the USA, I visit Chile last August. A Chilean friend invited some of my American friends and I to this place and we loved it! Everything is so fancy, beautiful and delicious. I got a "lucuma" caramel walnut pancakes cake and a frozen hot chocolate (the best I ever tried), they were amazing! You'll see how good this place is.

It's a pretty looking cafe, with some nice desserts and sandwiches. The cappuccino was more like a latte so didn't enjoy it so much. The Vegetariano Multigrano sandwich was nice but many of the options on the menu were strangely not available. Will probably give it one more visit as it is very close to our home. Also, it is a little overpriced.

La Chocolatine Chile is a fantastic spot for breakfast, offering delicious coffee and French toast. The bakery has a wide variety of options, making it a truly French experience. While some feel that the viennoiseries could be better, the homemade breads and strawberry juice are highly recommended. Visitors can also enjoy excellent coffee and French pastries while appreciating the good service at this charming establishment.
I had a delightful experience at La Chocolatine Chile. The baguette was fresh and had that perfect crunch that I always look for. The breakfast set was nicely curated, with each component complementing the others. The eggs were cooked to perfection, exactly how I like them. The portion sizes were just right, leaving me satisfied but not overly full. Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience with great food, excellent service, and a cozy atmosphere.

Good variety. Really French place. The only "but" it's that the viennoiseries are not the best.
Constanza F — Google review
Promised french food. Baguette lacked crunchy crust, dough heavy. Ordered cafe au lait and the waitress didn't know what it was. Brought me a menu and asked me to point to what I wanted. It had a good selection of Italian coffee. I ordered the breakfast with scrambled eggs, well done. Came partly raw, asked that it not be raw. Returned overcooked, rigid eggs with slightly burnt underside. I gave up complaining. The French do very good eggs, so this was disappointing. Strawberry juice was lovely. Sugar free jam was a good bonus. Tiny prepacked butter portion did half of the half baguette... Asked for one more and then on the bill came with $400 surcharge. Breakfast price being around $6000, this strikes me as mean. No coffee refill, small cup. Won't return.

Seems to be a neighborhood staple, with decent variety of pastries, but needs a deep cleaning (exterior, ceilings, refrigerators), a fresh coat of paint, and some life infused. Server was hum drum. Great food but poor treatment. I was on the line waiting for my order when someone robbed my bag! My passport was in it and after I realized I was stolen, I asked the manager and employees to let me see the camera, they were extremely rude and lied to me, saying that there was no camera there, but I pointed to the camera and said "It's there sir, please let me see, it would help me find my belongings!" He just said "No." I will never return there. Actually, I think maybe one of the employees or the manager himself stole it. Horrible place with horrible people.

A beautiful little bakery serving up some really wonderful baked goods. We had heard about the beauty of pastries in Santiago so wanted to hunt down some of the best. We definitely weren't disappointed in Gabilondo! The menu is simple, as is the range but everything in the place is clearly crafted with care. We had a croissant and a ginger biscuit, both of which came highly recommended and now we know, for good reason! Really wish we'd tried the wholemeal croissants as I've never seen those before. The ciabatta sandwiches were also pretty simple, but using great ingredients and top quality rolls ensured they were tasty, crunchy, soft and fresh. There are a couple of seats if you'd like to sit in but it's cosy. Probably best suited to grab and go. No coffee being served on the Saturday we went but everything else gets top marks.

But this time we tried one that had ground walnut and it was super sour, the taste was not the best. I suggest you be very careful with these details, because it will not be good for your business to sell poor quality things. And they should be more careful in that part. Because this will influence the appreciation of the clientele and any detail may stop going to your business. I tell you this as a suggestion and as an aside to what happened. Greetings atte. I tried brunch here, and it’s very, very tasty. Thoughtfully prepared and truly satisfying. The croissant sandwich was exceptional—a flaky, buttery croissant roast beef, fresh spinach❤️❤️❤️❤️ Yum!!!! The omelet was also great❤️💗 The small yogurt cup with granola and dried fruits great as well!!!! The bakery section caught my eye as well—they had so many tempting pastries and baked goods! Honestly, I wanted to try them all, but I held back (though I joked with myself about getting fat if I did 😂). However, the coffee was disappointing. They use Marley coffee machines, which I do not like🤢🤢🤢. This isn’t a place for sitting and relaxing—more of a grab-and-go spot or somewhere to take a quick break while on the way. It’s just a simple street café. Overall, it’s a strong 5/5 for the food and 3/5 due to the coffee and seating. Still, it’s an amazing place to grab and go, and I’d happily return for the food!❤️😍❤️😍🤩😍❤️

Food is excelent, tasty, fresh, healthy. The problem is with the online buying process. It was not clear to me if my order had been correctly taken in. 15 and 25 minutes after my payment got confirmed I received automated emails from Mango telling I had left some products in my virtual shopping cart and offering help to complete the purchase. I didn't leave anything in the cart, so replied asking for confirmation of my order and the delivery address and scheduled date, but they never replied. I ordered on Monday to be delivered in one week; two days later got an automated confirmation email about my order and only then I could confirm they got everithing right.

Avalon minimarket is a cozy café in the area that offers delicious hot chocolate with churros, cakes, Queques and daily dishes for takeout. It's a shame that I had to witness the poor treatment by the owner towards the waitresses on duty, I think things were going very well until that moment. The truth is that I think that treatment like this is never valid, and I hope that it is not always like this, because in addition to treating its employees badly, it generates a rejection by customers towards the cafeteria. I hope I can fix those issues, since the coffee is very delicious, and the waitresses who served me did their job of serving with friendliness and making me feel very comfortable. I support local businesses but paying $1000 for each one isn't really justified or if they have flour issues don't sell them as croissants. The photograph doesn't do it justice, but you can see that it is almost cake crumbs. She couldn't even get through the door and they started harassing her, asking her if she was going to buy. There were about 5 people behind the counter but they were more interested in talking to each other. They did not know the ingredients of the cakes and answered curtly. 3,900 for a piece of cake that the truth is... They are not worth it. We chose a raspberry pancake and the truth is, it was not good at all. Better save yourself the bad time, bad service and poor quality. (Original) Pésimo, no vayan. Pésima atención. Selvaggio is a fantastic place known for serving some of the best pizzas and a variety of freshly baked breads. The local cooks and bakers receive applause for their delicious creations. Visitors also praise the impressive decoration of the place, giving it a perfect 10 out of 10. Many have been obsessed with their bread, particularly the chocolate bread, while others have recently discovered the absolutely delicious pizza. Guests enjoy the good music and great prices, making them eager to return to this amazing spot.
We are Germans and this place has amazing sourdough bread which made us feel home! Especially good were also the Rotoli, different kind of buns. I had the cashew and red fruit one, and it was the BEST!

Came here for lunch and had an individual pizza and the veggie sandwich. The bread parts of each were fabulous (pizza had a wonderful crust, not too crunchy, not too doughy, and the veggie sandwich was on a delicious baguette), but the toppings/fillings could be a bit more flavorful (the sandwich in particular was supposed to have Camembert and I could barely see it). But overall everything was really fresh tasting and the service was nice so I'd definitely go back.

(Translated by Google) Selvaggio stands out for its striking difference between the terrace and the indoor dining room. I'm a smoker and always try to be outside, but this place looks so cozy and beautiful inside that it invites you to come in and stay. They play the perfect music for a leisurely lunch and moderate conversation, perfect for those of us who don't like noise or shouting 🤯. I understand they have a bakery and dessert section, but we couldn't try them this time because it's Sunday. As for the food, I give it 3 stars because the pizza dough didn't rise for quite a while, which made it a bit heavy to eat. I'll return another time because for a bakery that serves sourdough, the quality of the dough seems a bit odd. Nothing that can't be improved. The service from the girls was very good, although I would like to highlight the excellent customer service of one of the waitresses, she was the only one attentive to greeting and saying goodbye to her guests, very polite 😊 (Original) Selvaggio destaca en su tremenda diferencia de terraza y salón interior.

I only gave it one star because they didn't have a bathroom 🥲 I had to go home because I drank 2 juices haha, the service was very good too, the place was very beautiful, it is small, yes, but I enjoyed it a lot 🥰 (Original) Deliciosoooo😍 la comida buenísima, el pan me sorprendió mucho es demasiado rico, según la carta es de masa madre de queso azul (que no me gusta) pero me encantó el pan💘 me tomé un jugo de maracuyá y creo que es el mejor que me he tomado jajaj era como granizado y los amo.

(Translated by Google) The restaurant itself is small, but it's comfortable and has enough space for 3-4 diners and a few tables outside (it's just a stone's throw from the sidewalk). It's decorated with teddy bears and other amenities, pastel colors, and music at a volume suitable for conversation. The cakes are priced high, in my opinion, at $4,990, but the large slices make up for it. In my case, I ordered two pieces plus a cupcake ($2,190), everything delicious, especially the carrot cake. I followed this with a matcha latte ($3,490). This tasted more like milk than matcha and obviously wasn't a latte since it had the "tea grit" in it. I also had hot chocolate (which included marshmallows ($4,990). The chocolate, due to its texture, was noticeably not of very good quality, having more caramel than dark chocolate overtones. After eating for a while, I got saturated with the sweet stuff and it became cloying. I noticed there was a bit of an overdose with the sugar content. Suffice it to say, I shouldn't have sweetened anything, not even the drinks, which were sweet. As for savory items, the menu is very small, with about three unremarkable items. I spent about $22,715, including the tip, a bit pricey considering the quality, although I think the beautiful cakes and tableware made up for it somewhat.

I love coming here for lunch; I always leave stuffed, and I find it reasonably priced. I always recommend this place! The only downside, which I think they've struggled to fix, is the long lines to order and pay for the bread, which makes the process inconvenient. (Original) Solía venir siempre a comprar pan. (Translated by Google) Excellent dough, very good for the hallullas (a type of Chilean bread), the empanada dough is also good; they have a beef empanada (a meat-filled empanada) with ground beef that's among the best in the area. The place offers a truly extensive list of takeout and delivery options: breakfast, lunch, pizzas, salads, coffee, pastries, cookies, and more. While there are other bakeries and cafes nearby, none offer as much variety as they do. We didn't like the poached eggs very much, the avocado isn't Hass (it's that watery kind of stuff), and the coffee got cold while we waited for our food. These are details that could be improved. The bread itself was delicious. I'd like to go back to try other sandwiches and the pizzas. The place is pet-friendly, and the waitress is very friendly. Pastelería Francesa Hirondelle, established in 2013, aims to bring modern French pastries to Chile using high-quality ingredients in unique combinations. Customers praise the frozen croissants that can be easily baked for a fresh breakfast treat.

The best croissants I’ve ever tried in Chile. They sell them frozen so in the morning you just put some egg-wash on top, bake for 20 minutes and you have delicious freshly baked croissants for breakfast! Not so good with eclairs. Today we bought two to try and we’re extremely disappointed - a coffee one was just ok, but the filling in vanilla one was salty, the cream cheese used for the filling was too dense with unpleasant taste. Such a pity!

(Translated by Google) Update: They finally reached me to address my bad experience, offering me solutions. They sent my order again, and this time they were fresh. Another thing, they were delicious. I'm very grateful for their efforts. A very bad shopping experience. I placed an order online and it arrived very quickly, but in the afternoon when we went to eat them with friends, we realized the croissants were very stale and the dough was hard. If it weren't for the delicious fillings, they would have been inedible. They also changed one of the requested flavors (Nutella to Manjar). Finally, when I wrote to the store to tell them about the situation, they led me to believe they would review the order to find a solution. After hours of no response, I wrote again. They said they would look into it, but then they never responded. I do not recommend these croissants.

Páramo The Cake is a delightful bakery nestled in the heart of Chile, known for its exquisite cakes that beautifully blend European and Latin flavors. This charming spot offers a cozy terrace where you can enjoy your treats, although it may be a bit chilly during winter months without indoor seating. The family-run establishment prides itself on impeccable cleanliness and quality service, making every visit special.
I've tried 4 cakes so far and they've all been amazing. Special shout-out to the roasted milk (flan-like) on top of a moist chocolate cake, it's so good & brought some to some discerning Chileans and they also loved it. The brunch was also good and reasonably priced for a healthy portion. The scrambled eggs were done well. Will definitely be going there again during my short time here in Chile.

Adam W — Google review
This Santiago cafe is a study in contrasts. It's charmingly small, which adds to its cozy vibe… as long as you're okay with sitting exclusively outside. Given Santiago's generally dry climate, this isn't usually a problem. But come winter, you might find yourself wishing for a roof over your head (and maybe a parka). The service, however, is absolutely top-notch. Super nice, kind, and professional – the staff here clearly understands the art of hospitality. They're the sunshine to the cafe's potentially rainy-day cloud. The coffee is… well, it's capsule coffee. Which means it's about as good as capsule coffee can get. Let's be honest, it's never going to rival a perfectly brewed pour-over, but it does the job. Think of it as the reliable, slightly unexciting friend who always shows up on time. Now, let's talk about the cakes. They look delicious, and they taste… well, they taste like they're on a mission to escape your digestive system as quickly as possible. Let's just say my body processed that cake with the speed and efficiency of a Formula 1 pit stop. It was a fleeting moment of sugary bliss, followed by a hasty exit. Perhaps "express cake" would be a more accurate description. Verdict: This cafe is a great place to soak up the Santiago sunshine (when it's shining) and enjoy some genuinely lovely service. Just don't expect coffee that will blow your mind or cakes that will stick around for long. It's a "grab and go" kind of place, even if you want to linger.

What a lovely cafe!! Fantastic friendly service, especially by the bloke who served us, food was delicious (empanada, pizza and cake), and had to drag myself away before I ordered even more cake. If I was staying longer in Santiago I would have returned! Bear in mind only outside seating at the moment, but perfect when the weather is good.

(Translated by Google) For lovers of good bread and especially bread with sourdough, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE you should go. The breads were very poorly made, only 10% sourdough. The baguette was supposedly of the day but it was harder than a rock. The Ciabatta was a little better but still very simple with no flavor. There is no difference between these breads and those found in supermarkets or a store. The goat cheese was normal, nothing out of this world. I hope they improve to return. (Translated by Google) After my second visit to this place, I can say it's a true boulangerie. They cook with butter (not hydrogenated oils and disgusting margarines like 80% of what you find). As for the things I've bought and tried—croissants, lemon pie, cookies, strawberry tart, etc. (I have a sweet tooth, but I train daily, haha)—each one consistently surpasses the other. The question is, which one is the best of all their goodies? I absolutely know they make it with love for their craft. I'll be back every week, or every other week.

Bakery
El Pan de Cada Día, a traditional Chilean bakery, offers a variety of fresh pastries and baked goods daily. One of their specialties is the Pan de Pascua, which originated from Italian and German influences but has evolved into a rich cake filled with nuts, spices, and dried fruit. This dense cake is often enjoyed with Cola de mono, a sweet holiday cocktail. In addition to their signature pastry, the bakery also offers traditional sweets and chocolates at affordable prices.
(Translated by Google) On my first day, I went out looking for a place to eat and drink coffee. Walking for about 500m, I passed in front of a simple bakery, small, but with a big heart. Since I didn't know Chilean gastronomy, I asked a lady for help and suggestions about food and drink. She was just amazing, such a sweet person. We chatted for a short time, but enough to make me remember it forever. I didn't know how to take the subway and the bus, and she gave me the card. I felt lucky, without comparison all the feeling felt there ❤️. Every day, I stop by to eat something different. The quality is wonderful, the attention is incomparable. I recommend them ❤️.
