Such a unique place - as a tourist you HAVE to go. Buzzing place at night but particularly I recommend going during the day. You get to see how great this place is and everything it has. Day drinking in a ruin bar will easily become the highlight.

I don’t go to bars, so I haven’t experienced Szimpla Kert at night, but visiting during the Sunday market was really nice! From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., local producers offer a wide range of fresh and artisanal products, including breads, cheeses, honey, jams, yogurts, pasta, and traditional Hungarian sweets. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and entry is free—perfect for anyone wanting to explore the local culture in an authentic way.

Located in the heart of the Jewish Quarter, it’s the original ruin bar, a concept born from transforming abandoned buildings into eclectic, artsy nightlife spaces. The place is a visual overload: mismatched furniture, bathtubs as seats, graffiti-covered walls, and quirky installations everywhere you look. I went once at night. Night time, , is when Szimpla comes alive: live music, DJs, and a buzzing crowd of locals and tourists. It’s loud, chaotic, and absolutely fun. Drinks are reasonably priced for a tourist hotspot, and they have a good selection of local craft beers (try the Budapest Lager) and cocktails. The staff were friendly, and the vibe was welcoming despite the crowds. Tips: Go early if you want to explore the space and take photos. At night, expect crowds—especially on weekends. Would I go back? Definitely. Szimpla Kert is more than a bar, it’s a cultural experience and a must-see if you’re in Budapest.

Such a cool and new experience for me! I went both day and night, and they both had two very different vibes. I would recommend getting a coffee in the morning to explore the flea market as well and at night visiting around 7-8pm to avoid the queue (weekend) and grabbing a cherry ale. The cherry ale was lovely and the interior blew my mind. Strongly recommend to visit!

Szimpla Kert is one of those places you don’t just visit, you experience. It’s a mix of chaos and charm that somehow works perfectly. The decor feels like a museum of randomness, with old bikes hanging from the ceiling, mismatched furniture, neon lights, and murals everywhere. The atmosphere is unbeatable, especially in the evening lively but relaxed, full of both locals and travelers. The drinks are fairly priced, the music is always on point, and the whole place feels like the heart of Budapest’s nightlife. If you want something authentic, creative, and slightly crazy, this is it. A must-visit.

Absolutely loved this place! 17 different bars and lots of different rooms and areas to drink/eat and dance. Reasonable prices and an amazing atmosphere - quite a young crowd (we are older but didn’t feel out of place ) excellent lively place - didn’t eat but the food looked good.

You can’t get bored in this place!😻😻 it has so many things to see and such a great atmosphere! Though it does need more chairs in the ground floor. A bit confusing about the bars though, we asked if we could have one mojito in one of the bars that had the big board with cocktails but the guy told us we had to pese it somewhere else because he couldn’t make it, not sure why they have the board there then. Prices are alright, I feel like the water should be cheaper tho. A lot of things to see and really worth going for a good party! Different genres in every room and really just good vibes!

Instant Fogas is a must-visit in Budapest! Huge ruin club with multiple dance floors, bars, and different music styles for every taste. The vibe is electric, the crowd lively, and the atmosphere truly unique. Perfect place to party all night and experience Budapest’s famous nightlife!

We visited Instant in Budapest and had an amazing time. The club is very large, with multiple connected rooms, each offering different music and atmosphere — from house and techno to hip-hop and party hits. You can easily move around and find the vibe that fits you. The crowd was a mix of locals and travelers, creating a fun and energetic atmosphere. The design is artistic and colorful, making the place visually interesting as well. Drinks are slightly pricier but still reasonable for a nightclub. We recommend arriving a bit early to avoid lines. Overall, a great nightlife experience — highly recommended.

We went to this club 3 times. Unfortunately there are a lot negative things about this club. But let’s start with the positives. The club is open everyday so if you have nowhere else to go but still want to party, that’s the place to go. Sometimes They have events with live concerts which is quite cool. But that’s about it. The entry is free but they use every opportunity to scam you inside. If you buy a drink you pay a ft400 deposit on the cup, but they don’t give you the tokens that you need to get your money back. You have to ask them specifically. You can only give the cups back at a specific area, its located on the right if you walk straight through the outdoor area. But you can only return TWO cups a day even if you payed for more. And you HAVE to pay the deposit EVERY time. There is a sign which says that you can also keep your token if you buy a new drink and return your cup at a bar, but that’s not true. I asked a bartender and he just said it’s not possible. After i told him about the sign he got really rude and aggressive and said if I’m not leaving he could „pour the beer in my hands“. I asked him „so it’s a scam“ and he told me „yes it is“. If you want a token after you bought a drink and you ask for a „return chip“, „coin“ or anything else they act like they have no idea what you are talking about. You need to use the word „token“. One time I asked for a token and the woman behind the counter was really annoyed, searched a few minutes for the tokens and then threw 10 of them right at me, even though I only bought one drink. If someone is throwing up somewhere in the club, the security will rush there without watching the surroundings. They just push you away. I was walking on the main stage and the security guy just knocked his elbow in my face and also into other people just to get through. I understand this behavior if there is a fight or something but not if someone is throwing up. The staff in general is really unfriendly and rude if you ask something, they just walk away sometimes, ESPECIALLY if you want to return cups. I also got denied one time to return my cup because it was „dirty“… ofc it is, I just used it. I also asked one of the security guys for the nearest cloakroom, and he handed me something. It was a bunch of trash out of his pockets. I didn’t get an answer tho. They have a lot of stages with different music, which is cool! You will always find an area that matches your taste. But we noticed that the remix of the same song on different days, from different DJs is the exact same, when I watched one DJ I saw that they did absolutely nothing and it was just playback. One of they just chilled with a girl. I uploaded a short clip of him, but watched him for a while. He did nothing for a few minutes 😂 (That’s not always the case, some of them are really god, especially the DJs downstairs in the techno area). When we checked our bank accounts we also noticed that we didn’t pay attention and they just charge more sometimes. (15€ for two shots of jägermeister) So all in all, if you have nowhere else to go or if you just want a lot of people, go there. But don’t expect any of the staff to be helpful, welcoming, friendly or nice. They WILL treat you like shit. The reason we went there 3 times was: 1: we wanted to try it out and didn’t know about the scam with the drinks. 2: nothing else was opened, and if you don’t buy more than two drinks and don’t talk to the staff you can have fun there.

Free entry, long and wide space with multiple rooms and floors and music. Combination of both inside/outside bars and dance floors. Opened late but started to pick up just after midnight. The atmosphere was wild, it was busy music was ok drinks were expensive.

We went there twice and were very satisfied both times. The food was really delicious. The staff was very professional and polite. The quality of the food was excellent. The flavors of the food were different and very delicious. The restaurant atmosphere was clean and stylish and decorated with plants, which made us feel very relaxed. The prices were also good. Special drinks with new flavors that you won't find anywhere else. Definitely try it. We will definitely go there again.

Hello lovely people of Mazel tov restaurant. I am writing to you from a small Croatian town of Vinkovci. We visited Budapest last week and had a pleasure of dinning in your amazing restaurant. We had diy shawarma sandwich, chicken shawarma plate and shakshuka. Everything was very tasty. We discovered some new flavors that we don't normaly have in Croatia so it was amazing experience. For me it was particularly sweet potato chips and mt beetroot salad. Now we do eat sweet potato and beetroot in Croatia, but those spices.. Omg that was something different. Would it be possible to kindly share the secret with me? What spices do you use for sweet potato chips and how do you make that beetroot salad? I am asking for personal consumption and family home cooking. Tried but failed on a walk in, so I booked for lunch the next day. I was first into the restaurant which is beautiful. Within an hour it was full. There a lots of servers so no wonder the service is top notch. All the staff were lovely and chatted in English too. I had a passion fruit and ginger house Lemonade, lovely, cool and fresh. Exactly what my body needed after the previous nights palinka. Then, soul food. The Yemen chicken soup, finest comfort food there is in my book. A tad salty but still lovely. Pastrami sandwich was my main, superb if not the most expensive I have ever eaten. Sadly it came with sweet potato fries, which I detest. Lashings of meat and buttery bread with a tangy cabbage and a fruity dip. Very filling. Finally a double espresso to finish. Everything was top quality from the ingredients to the service. Plates are generous and looking around all the other diners enjoyed it too.

My food was great. Really nice shakshuka, rich flavours and a great hummus dish to start. My partners beef kebab was a little bit too rare. No problem though. Atmosphere is very chilled, great vibes and music. Service was very nice too, I have allergies and the staff were very attentive. Possibly on the expensive side but this was a special meal so we didn’t mind.

Food was great, service was trash. Honestly, I saw the reviews + photos, and was so excited to eat here. We were sat immediately and the atmosphere is amazing. Unfortunately, we had to wave someone over to take our orders. By that time, we put in drinks, mezze and main course. Within the next ten minutes, our drinks and mezze came but we didn’t see our waiter again. He disappeared. After 50+ minutes (I know because I took these photos), we had to ask someone about our food. Then five minutes later, we asked another person. Then 10 minutes later, we got our food finally. Unfortunately, because we are from out of town, we had a day planned and other things to do. While this just made us late The food was fresh four out of five. It was really disappointing to be so eager for the food and to have just a really poor experience overall.

I had a great experience at Mazel Tov in Budapest. I ordered the shakshuka and it was delicious, super flavorful and perfectly cooked. The guy who took care of my table, Peter, was also wonderful. He even spoke some Spanish, and I really appreciated the effort he made. We understood each other perfectly. The space itself is also really cute and charming. Overall, a lovely place with tasty food and great service!

Best food and service of our week in Budapest, our server was attentive and friendly and the building is absolutely beautiful. We’ve ordered the olives, the whipped feta, the chicken sous vide and the shawarma - all of which were generous portions and cooked beautifully. My only slight grumble was that our table was right next to the toilets so we had the constant flapping of the saloon doors, handrier noise and frequent views of the inside of the male toilet stalls - which I would have minded less if we had been squeezed in but we booked a good few days in advance. All in all though I would recommend anyone go to Mazel Tov, it was a real highlight of our trip.

A spacious bar with a lovely atmosphere that’s genuinely enjoyable to spend time in. The young waitress who served us was very polite and attentive. She helped us choose our drinks, especially with the fröccs, and we tried several cocktails — most of which we really liked. The only downside was the slow service, but it was clear that the number of staff wasn’t enough for how busy the place was, so I don’t blame the employees for that. The management definitely needs to address this.

The place an unique atmosphear. You can come here alone to enjoy a moment of reflection holding a drink, with friends -which would be the most fun option- , or to work in case you are a bit of a nomad, like me. This is one of my favorites places in this part of the city. It is close to Calvin Ter and Astoria. You cannot miss visiting this place!

Extremely quirky bar / cafe / muso joint. Highly eclectic decor in a beautiful old function room. Great beer. Not too strong so good for easy drinking. And yes we found the loos first try.

This café/ruin bar has an incredible atmosphere—eclectic, vintage décor and a welcoming vibe that make it a memorable spot. The staff are friendly and attentive, adding to the charm. That said, the drinks can be hit-or-miss when it comes to taste, which can take away from an otherwise fantastic experience. Worth visiting for the ambiance alone.

an eclectic but bustling ruins bar. cocktails are great, my friend got a vanilla mojito and i got the white russian chai. we also got tortilla chips and an eggplant dip which were absolutely delicious. you can spend hours looking at the decorations on the walls, and great place for talking and halving a drink.

We stayed there for an hour or so to have gin tonic and whiskey shot which cost us around 4500 HUF. The staff are so friendly and respectful can speak English. The place is cosy pub with lots of small things to watch. We satisfied from the service and like the place.

A ruin bar we actually enjoyed! We are middle aged now and found the ones down in the Jewish quarter a little rowdy for our liking. We stumbled on this place just before going home and finally understood the charm of the ruin bars. Can highly recommend a visit here.

The cocktails were nice. The prices were more high end. The staff were nice, but it did feel like the humor was more at our expense. The water was free and refilled with is a huge plus!

Friendly staff, cool ambience, really good drinks! We visited this bar twice on our 3 day stay. While the drinks weren’t overly showy or wildly creative, they were very good. We liked that they served local spirits and the popcorn was a cute touch!

My experience here was simply stellar. The bar has this cozy, speakeasy vibe, and the bartenders were truly impressive. Each cocktail felt like a crafted work of art. They use creative ingredients with theatrical presentation and unique glassware. Service was warm and attentive, and that little bag of salted popcorn was the perfect companion to our drinks. Definitely one of the best cocktail bars I've ever visited.

Absolutely amazing experience. Cozy bar with great music. Bartenders are very qualified and handsome. They came to us to talk about the drinks option if you don't want anything from menu they will craft you something based on your likes. That's how I got one of the best drinks in my life. From entering till the end we felt amazing. Hopefully in the future we will come back not as a students with tight budget so we can stay for more drinks. Totally amazing in Poland we have never found experience like this. Thank you for that!

Amazing place. The environment was so atmospheric and cozy, the music sent the best vibes, the service extremely friendly, the bartenders pure delight to the eyes and the drinks were beyond the promising performance of the bartenders. Booked for drinks on roof top terrace. As soon as you walk into this restaurant you are presented with stunning surroundings. Theres a piano and someone singing. Next time will definitely be booking for dinner. The staff are all friendly and welcoming. Drinks were really good. Definitely worth a trip but would make a reservation.

One of my highlights in my Budapest solo trip. Went here for sunset Oct 9th. The rooftop, ambiance, service are amazing. The hostess that seated me was so kind and also my female server ✨. I was visiting the Basilica and stumbled on this gem 🥹❤️ Appreciate your warm hospitality!!! I had an unfortunate mishap at the train station arriving from Vienna (lost my wallet, cash, cards), but coming here made my day and appreciate I am safe, I am lucky to be here in Budapest. Aria hotel had the best views and centrally located. The lobby was aesthetically beautiful with piano keys and someone was playing the grand piano. Beautiful venue, indoor and outdoor seating on top of a very nice hotel. Our experience for the food and service was very poor for the price. There was one server for almost all of the tables on a very busy weekend and asking for something took forever. I ordered the duck with side salad and waited almost 45 minutes for dressing while my duck went cold. Someone came to apologize and offer drinks for the issue and then we were charged for everything. I would only recommend coming here for a drink and the beautiful views.

Probably the best place to be if you’re looking for bad service. There was one sweet and sympathetic girl, but aside from her, the manager and the men in suits were arrogant and dismissive. The drinks are overpriced, with both the quantity and quality far below what you pay for. When I complained about this, the manager shrugged and said: “That’s what we do here. If you don’t like it, we cannot do anything.” Yes, the view is nice, and everything looks clean, but strangely there were more staff members walking around than actual guests sitting at tables. That should already tell you something. When I tried to pay with American Express, I was told “nobody in Budapest accepts AMEX.” That’s ridiculous—we had used AMEX everywhere else in the city, from small restaurants cafe kor, New York Cafe, or four seasons, or to buying the Budapest Card on the streets. If you’re going to lie, at least know your facts. On top of that, when we left, they even argued with us, saying “people who spend €400 here don’t complain.” Well, we didn’t complain at Hotel New York either—because there the service, food, and quality actually matched the price. This place? Probably the very last spot in Budapest you’d want to waste your money on.

This was by far the best way to round out my day in Budapest. I was instantly greeted by friendly and genuine smiles from EVERY worker and their cocktails are just mind blowing. Don’t shy away from their recommendations! They’re so flavorful and unique and paired so perfectly with the view from the roof. Worth a visit and every penny! Thank you for the great service!

Make sure you have a reservation. We didn’t but the staff still managed to get us a table to watch sunset but only had 1hr. Drinks were great and staff were fantastic. It’s all about the view !

We went here on a saturday evening, arrived at around 11 PM and there were some people but not as many as we expected. There are many options for cocktails and they're good but we had a hard time ordering. There were 8 of us and we ordered one by one and wanted to pay seperately which took a bit more time because the 2 ladies which were working on our orders got a bit confused. I ended up paying around 2700 HUF (7 EUR) by card for a mojito but the menu said the price was 2200 HUF (5.64 EUR). On the bright side, we got free shots because one lady gave us coupons in front of the entrance. I didn't really like the DJ's choice of music. There were some good songs at the beginning but later, right when people started to dance, he ended up playing some slower/sadder songs which went on for too long so it killed the mood on the dance floor. The decor is amazing, and the lighting is beautiful. I think it's busier in August or July (we went there in the middle of September).

The worst experience I’ve ever had in a nightclub. We were a group of 12 people, all of legal age to enter, and one of the guys was unfairly accused by the security staff of having drugs on him, which was completely false! To make things worse, they made up an absurd story that he had already tried to enter earlier wearing different clothes — which was impossible, and we even showed photo evidence with timestamps proving it. From that moment, the security guards became extremely aggressive, threatened us with physical violence and pepper spray, and refused to listen to any explanation. I asked to speak with the manager and requested the complaint book, which took them over 30 minutes to bring. Even after I wrote the complaint, they kept threatening us, which is absolutely unacceptable. The situation escalated so badly that I had to call the police. They came to the location, took down the names of the security guards involved, and confirmed that was all they could do. A night completely ruined by an aggressive, arrogant, and totally unprofessional security team. I do not recommend Doboz to anyone. If you value respect and safety, stay away from this place.

The security guys are so arrogant and racist. I was inside and I left my airpods inside and wanted to go back to take them. It was an event before the party. Even tho I spoke with the guy in Hungarian he didn't let me in and his response was like your face is not good with a smirk on his face. I mean how arrogant and pathetic you can be. You work as a security for a club. Get a life dude.

Worst place ever. I had the worst experience with security and management in my life. When arriving to the door to go in, security just told me that I could not go in, without a reason. When I asked to speak to a manager, they threatened me with pepper gas and I had to call the police. Besides security team, I’ve been there in some parties before, and the workers at the bar are also very rude. The music is like a 2 or 3 out of 5. This was surely the last time I went there.

One of Budapest's most famous Ruin Bars. It has cleaner and more spacious areas compared to other bars. I think the staff are polite and more professional compared to similar bars. They could make better choices in terms of music.

Was looking for alternatives to Szimpla, saw this joint. Dragged all my mates here, dead empty at 10. At some point, 100 people rocked up and left 15 minutes later. Apparently, they buy 5 star reviews with shots of juice. Idk just go to a real bar and don't let your friends down like I did.

All the classic characteristics of the many ruin style bars around Budapest. Lots to look at and explore while enjoying a reasonably priced drink. Took a star off for although we were early for their busy party time but still after 9.00pm the music was playing very low and definitely would have created a better vibe had it been louder.

This is a very cool performance venue showcasing musicians and programs almost every evening. There is a bistro onboard serving breakfast and all day menu until evening hours. There are stages on the bow and roof terrace so there can be more than one performance per evening. Stop by if you see a music genre to your liking!

I had a great evening at Tetőterasz even though the weather wasn't super generous! Great house music on a Thursday afternoon into the sunset. Love this venue great to back after 13 years.

Fantastic food and great people. Bit of a walk from the city center, however it’s well worth the walk, and after eating the food, walking back will definitely help you burn off a bit of what you just enjoyed. I was there for restaurant week and the offerings didn’t disappoint. The food looked and tasted too good for me to take pictures, but the main course of braised pork cheeks and roasted potatoes were a must try if they are on the menu when you go. The pickled radishes were unexpectedly delicious and will be adding that to my recipes when I get home. Try it out for yourself

I had two very negative experiences at this club. First, the band I came to see was 2 hours late – something I only found out after I had already entered. I wanted to step outside for some food and a walk along the river, but they told me if I left, I wouldn’t be allowed back in. After waiting two hours, I received a token without any explanation. When I ordered a drink, I was told I had to pay extra. Later I realized the token was probably for a smoker’s cup, but no one explained this to me. I asked for my money back, but instead I was given an extra cup. The bartender upstairs (the shorter woman with black hair) refused to help, and I was left with two cups I didn’t want. Staff speak very poor English and are not friendly toward foreigners. Overall, if you are not Hungarian, better go somewhere else.

We visited this establishment during the restaurant week. Although we reserved a table we were initially seated at a waiting table. After about 20 minutes we could finally go to our dedicated table and the food order was taken. The service staff seemed a bit overwhelmed, but all in all they were kind and helpful. The duck liver pate with brioche was abundant and tasty, the duck breast with polenta was also perfectly prepared. The pumpkin soup and the mouflon ragout soup were really rich and the main dish beef ragout with apple croquettes was delicious too. The only meal that did not taste and seem like fresh, was the catfish stew with noodles. After two courses we barely had any room left for the desert: pistachio cheesecake, so we asked for a takeaway bag.

Good place but the prices are outrageous for drinks. I recommend for someone to get drunk before attending an event. The tram is about a 5 minute walk from the boat so it’s easy to access. Cool location.

Brewery vibe, tried 2 different IPAs but nothing really beats exceptional. Bench-style seats not very comfortable if you planning an evening drinking. Staff were ok. Food was good.

Very nice atmospheric place, good beer, big selection of beers. Unfortunately we waited 20 minutes for 2 beers even though there was just few people in front of us… The bartender was very very slow and inexperienced.

Great find. I wasn't sure what I signed up for walking through a more residential area and then you turn into the corridor and can't help but smile. It's perfect! They have 2 bars, we were shown our reserved table (highly recommend) and went up to order the beers. Nice guys, switched to English with ease. Food was from a different counter and delicious. We had a great evening at this brewery.

Always great variety of beers on tap, bottled alcohol free beer available too. Food options are not many but the food is delicious and served quickly. It gets a bit hot inside in winter and it is good to book table if you come Friday-Saturday evenings.

Excellent spot that separates the bars to reduce waiting time. The craft beer bar has a varied selection with voodoo being my particular favourite. The spirits bar opposite mixed up a superb G&T. The place was packed with people imbibing and laughing. I like the minimalist style too.

Went to Puder for lunch. Waitstaff was welcoming, spoke English, and menus in English were available. Ordered the Sweet potato pancakes and the Beef goulash soup. Both were tasty. A cool place for food or to relax and have a beverage.

Good food and atmosphere, but skip the cocktails. We had a really nice dinner at Púder. The atmosphere was lively and vibrant, with lots of people and a cool interior that made for a fun dining experience. We tried the cod steak with hollandaise sauce, asparagus, roasted potatoes, and colorful tomatoes — it was really tasty and well-prepared. The goulash bowl was good, but I expected a bit more flavor or richness. Unfortunately, the Hugo cocktails were disappointing — they didn’t taste like a proper Hugo at all, and it seemed like there was no prosecco in them. It was very busy when we visited, so we had to wait a bit longer than usual, but that’s understandable given the crowd. Overall, a great spot for dinner with good food and vibes — but I’d skip the cocktails next time.

The decoration and the overall atmosphere of this place is very nice, and the food delicious! However, the service was extremely slow. Perhaps it's because we were a big international group (almost 20 people), but again, it took almost one hour to get our drinks (mostly sodas and beers) :( I had their gulyás, which was OK, but not the best I've tried in Budapest. Their lángos, on the other hand, is really tasty!

I have just spent an absolutely fantastic evening with friends at this fantastic place. We were served by a delightful young man by the name of Christophe who was full of smiles, friendly and eager to serve us. We had two Aperol Spritz and 2 local draught beers and then ordered some food. My friends had the goulash soup main. One of these friends is gluten free and they were only too happy to accommodate her. I had the pork loin wrapped in bacon with pea purée and a host of other delicious items. The food was excellent and the chef should be commended. It looked great and tasted even better. The atmosphere of the restaurant hole place was brilliant. Very busy, (and deservedly so), with an eclectic mix of people. Inside it is quirky and interesting. There’s an upper floor and a lower floor with a barrel vaulted ceiling which was fabulous. We sat outside. Again quirky takes and benches, busy with happy chatter from the customers. We had a brilliant night out and will be visiting again. The bill for all our food and drinks came to 25,500 huff, about £55 for the three of us. We will definitely visit again before we leave this wonderful city or cities to be precise. If you come to Budapest, seek out this place, you will not be disappointed. Thank you bar Puda for a great night out. John.

What a stunning little bar, slightly hidden, but definitely worth finding. All the staff are welcoming, knowledgeable and friendly. Table service was impecable and the cocktails were divine. Such amazing creativity and the theme of famous building blueprints was cool. Wardour and W 54th was my favourite, but they all were really great drinks.

Our server was very sweet, he kept refilling our water and very attentive to our request! They serve the best cocktails in town with intimate ambience. They also had such a creative menu book which is such a treat if you’re an architecture geek. All and all, loved everything about this bar!!

Pontoon has an amazing location with both upstairs and downstairs outdoor seating—perfect for soaking in the Budapest vibes. It might feel a bit like a tourist trap at first glance, but honestly, it’s well worth a visit. I had a tequila soda with lime—simple but really well made. You do have to give a deposit for the cup, but that’s pretty standard in the area and didn’t bother me. Chilled atmosphere, good drinks, and a killer view. Great for a relaxed drink by the water!

Went during sunset by chance walking around. Amazing views from the top patio deck beside the Danube. There was live music playing. The artist was free styling her lyrics & the band was really great 👍.....set the vibe! The bartender spoke good English & was really nice. The price I found to be quite good & even refunds $500 forints if using their plastic cups. I'll definitely check them out again.

Pontoon is one of those places you visit as much for the atmosphere as for the drinks. Located right next to the Chain Bridge, with a perfect view of the iconic lions and the Danube, it offers one of the most scenic hangouts in the city. Live concerts are a regular feature and bring a vibrant energy to the place, especially in the evenings. That said, it’s often packed, so finding a seat can be tricky. Drinks are average in both quality and price — standard for Budapest — but it’s really the location and vibe that make Pontoon worth a visit. Bonus: tourist buses often stop nearby, as there’s a parking lot close to the entrance — it’s not uncommon to see surprised visitors stepping off and wondering where they’ve just arrived.

Due to festivities and some issues before, having everything with fences right next to the river and around the place is a bit disappointing, but it’s understandable knowing the background for it as it was not their intention. Live music on the day was pretty good and the vibe was nice, everyone had a nice time and you could see how everyone enjoyed the time. Hopefully next summer is going to be possible to have a nice sunset without fences in front of you!

I think this is must have for young people who came to Budapest and want to experience night life. Quite interesting experience with life music, dj and a lot of interesting people

I had a great evening at this bar. I ordered the eggplant and peanut-butter chickpea stew with roasted onions and pita, which came out in just a few minutes and tasted fantastic. The beer and drink selection is wide and varied, and everything I tried was fresh and well served. The atmosphere is lively yet cozy, and the staff are genuinely friendly and attentive. Highly recommended for anyone looking for excellent bar food, great drinks, and a welcoming vibe!

Excellent. This is one of the finest bars in Budapest — looks simple and down to earth, and yet serves some of the greatest cocktails and food around. While small, their kitchen serves some of the best Goulash stew around and the bar tenders will happily make you a great Gin Tonic. We were happy to be served the drink exactly the way she makes it for herself, and it was superb. Outside seating available directly in the windows, otherwise site inside; live music available on occasions. Update: I’ve been here again after the pandemic and can attest the food is as good as it’s been before.

The service really stood out - the waitress was very attentive, patient, and knowledgeable with all our requests and questions. The drinks turned out perfect in the end, and all of us really enjoyed them. Also, they included a small plate of free snacks for us that they refreshed. Loved the vibes, there was also a DJ on Saturday night, but it wasn’t too loud. Perfect spot for a date night!

Very delicious cocktails 🍸 Dory was very attentive, took great care of us and we never had to wait long to order. One of the cocktails we ordered was unfortunately not our taste. This had nothing to do with how the cocktail was made, it just included cilantro, which we don't like. Dory was super understanding and quickly exchanged it with a very delicious Mai Tai. All of the other drinks made by Matthew were very delicious! Especially the Spice Market Smoke, which really brings some heat! Can only recommend this gem of a bar

At SkyBar we were amazed by the “Twisted Classics” – classic cocktails with a creative twist by the bartenders. 🍸 Out of all the ones we tried, the Hungary Pornstar Martini was by far the best. 😍 We also enjoyed a delicious chocolate-orange dessert. The bar has an elegant and very pleasant atmosphere, the service is top-notch, and everything is perfectly organized. Highly recommended!🏅

My first time in Budapest and what a lovely start with St. Andrea’s… It is located in the center attraction point. Atmosphere is pretty nice. Food is delicious especially their Black Angus! Staff is caring to get you pleased with the experience. I will advise you to try at least one night for sure if you are in Budapest! Do not forget to make a reservation otherwise you might not find a table. Please keep that in your mind the prices are expensive!

Nice view and lighting. However, this place for almost empty. It might be good if you want peace and go with your partner. The big drawback are prices which are huge. This skybar is heavily overpriced so keep that in mind. Staff was polite.

What a fantastic experience! Great location, amazing views of Budapest, the venue is chic and trendy, the food is fresh and tasty, but you will come back for the cocktails!! The drinks are worth the visit, with a special mention for our mixologist Laszlo! He is very friendly and super knowledgeable about cocktails (he customized one for me), but also the wines from St. Andrea winery. We will go back and hopefully Laszlo will be on duty that day!

The view is definitely nice, but the windows were not clean, and there were spiders and webs everywhere, which was quite unpleasant. The place clearly needs better cleaning. However, I recommend making a reservation, as it seems to be a popular spot.

Visited this Skybar once and honestly, it was just a one-time experience. I ordered a mojito, it was small, packed with ice, and tasted more like a watered-down spritz than an actual cocktail. And The service was okay but nothing special.

We have booked a wine tasting and left fully satisfied. The atmosphere was great, the wine was fantastic and our Sommelier Bence has an extensive knowledge of wine and wine regions as well. In addition, his knowledge about whisky is also impressive. Very service minded, great view, amazing wine & cocktail & whisky selection.

A reservation is required, so it is better to make it instead of just showing up. My request was to sit outside and it was really nice eating and enjoying the beautiful views. The food was delicious, the waiter/waitress was nice and friendly. The only issue we had was that when asked to pay in cash (Euro), and then we overheard the waitress telling another customer that she didn't recommend paying cash in Euro because you will end up spending more than usual but she never mentioned it to us.Not recommend to pay in Euro. Overall very nice and beautiful. Recommend to visit it.

The food was pretty decent. But the portion sizes were astronomical for Budapest. Our waiter was top notch and attentive. The drinks were okay but were crazy expensive for what was provided. I think you are paying more for the name and location rather than the food and drinks provided. The price just does not match up. The brownie was good. Rich for sure.

A nice place to take in the views of Budapest! We made a reservation via Opentable for the afternoon and the tables were full but not overcrowded. We enjoyed some non-alcoholic beverages and a few appetizers while enjoying the bright sun and perfect location. The tartare was not something I would order again, but the hummus was outstanding.

We visited Leo from Florida on our very first day in Budapest, and it was the perfect introduction to this beautiful city. The view was absolutely stunning, the atmosphere was relaxed yet classy, and the staff made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we arrived. A special thank you to our server Theo, for his kindness and outstanding service, he went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. We’d also like to give special thanks to the lovely curly black haired lady who hosted us and managed to fit us in even in rush hours without reservations. Their professionalism and warm hospitality really stood out and made our evening even more enjoyable. Budapest has completely captured our hearts, and this rooftop was the highlight of our first night. We’ll definitely be visiting again before we leave, highly recommended! :)

In general, a very nice rooftop bar/restaurant. The food was very nice however the portions were very small. We ordered the fillet mignon and the mini cheeseburgers. To be fair, you rarely find these prices for this type of food in other places but Budapest is in general relatively cheap. The cheesecake was extremely good and the cocktails are also very good. However, we had some problems with the table we were seated at, since we were in a far corner and couldn’t really see the view which ruined the mood a bit and makes it feel like it’s not really worth it. However at the end of our dinner we were moved to a better spot which sort of made up for that. So make sure to book in advance and ask for a good table since space is limited. In general, a very nice place for dinner and drinks but again, portions are a bit small.

If you are looking for a place with a nice view then this is your place. Nice ambience, music and comfortable seating. Nice service. If you are a claustrophobic person you might find the elevator a little bit challenging since it’s very small and with no air conditioning.

Rooftop with amazing views to chain bridge! They even have two terraces, the smaller side is looking to the Parliament! I had the Caesar salad with shrimp, delicious food with home made bread, lemonades & nice cocktails! Design of the place and the menu is fascinating! They have like in the US service fee included! The entrance is not through Hotel Clark, but from the side! Reservation recommended as the place is not too big!

Amazing vibe and great cocktails! Loved this place - the music was awesome, the bartenders were super guest-friendly, and the signature cocktails were really interesting. Black Swan Cocktail Bar made a great impression straight away. It has a speakeasy style where you normally ring a bell to be let in, although I happened to walk in as someone else was leaving, which clearly threw the member of staff who greeted me. I was seated at the bar, which I always enjoy as a solo traveller. My first drink was a really unique cocktail topped with a burnt mushroom garnish. It gave off an unusual aroma and created a flavour combination I’ve never tried before, but I actually really liked it. I ended up having two more cocktails while chatting with the bartender serving me. She was friendly, gave me recommendations for other bars to try, and talked a bit about how beautiful the Buda side of the city is. It was a genuinely nice chat and exactly the kind of interaction you appreciate when travelling alone. The bar itself is beautifully designed, with a huge range of spirits on display. I even ordered an extra drink I hadn’t planned on getting, which says a lot about how much I was enjoying myself. The drinks, after service charge too, are slightly on the expensive side for Budapest, but the quality is absolutely there, so it doesn’t feel unreasonable. If I had one criticism (which I actually mentioned to the staff), it’s that the artwork next to each cocktail in the menu is an AI image rather than a real photograph. As a photographer, it feels like a missed opportunity not to commission a proper image or source something that matches the drink. It comes across as a lazy choice, but it doesn’t affect my rating at all. Overall, I really enjoyed the place. Great drinks, great atmosphere and excellent service 😊

Went in having super high expectations just because our friends had gone and ranked it a 10/10. I left the bar with a solid experience, but I wouldn’t rate it at a mindblowing favorite bar in the world level. Apparently they just changed owners six months ago. Don’t get me wrong, the drinks were all delicious, but they were made mostly with store bought liqueurs so none of the flavors were especially new to me. The interior was cool and dark, and it was literally right underneath our Airbnb so perfect location. Worth going to if you’re in the area for sure though!

We love hunting for speak easy places, so this was a gem to find. The entrance is super cool and the enteriour as well, matches the vibe. The music didn’t realky go with it, a rockabily, jazzy music would be better, but that is all. It’s very small, but cozy. The service was friendly and the drinks great. We will be back for sure

Please never go to this place. It is very hard for me to give such a low rating to this place because I had very high expectations. The service was perfect and the place is small but still nice and atmospheric. The cocktail we got was beautiful and tasty but the reason I gave one star is exactly what you can see in the photo I attached. This is honestly shameless and outrageous. I paid 5500ft for a quarter glass of cocktail maybe five sips. I will never go back and I do not recommend anyone to waste their money here.

Dürer Kert is one of the music venues and night club for rock, indie and electronic music in Budapest especially live performances. It has a big hall and big scene and also second hall. There are really famous local groups performing. Since 2021 their new place is huge and There is a bar, you can buy ticket online and on the premises. Only not-well-planned part is cloak room, at winter, there is a long queue to give and take away your belongings. It has a spacious garden looking at Danube with hammocks, to play table ball, petanque and to grill or cook in cauldron (to cook gulyas leves : ) and required material even fuel is provided by Durer Kert personnel) It has a huge car park with Wheelchair-accessible car park. Wheelchair-accessible entrance, toilet and seating is available. You can go there by bus as well, 133 is the closest one. The venue is a little far to the city center and not easy to reach. But by car, they have a huge car park as I said. You can buy ticket online from their website or queue before the concert, but recommend to go there in advance and chill at the place.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A truly great spot for live music and laid-back summer evenings! We went to a small weekday concert by the Platon Karataev Duo, and the atmosphere was wonderful. The garden is beautifully lit after dark, creating a very pleasant vibe. There were four open drink stations, so no long lines, and the prices were fair. Another big plus: Dürer Kert is right by the Danube, just walk down the steps and you’re at the water. All in all, highly recommended; we’ll gladly come back!

Sound was good, cool venue with a good line-up and massive outdoor space. I wish the weather was better when I was there, so we could enjoy the Danube shore, but anyway. The crowd is also, you know, young people, so it’s a pretty friendly and welcoming place.

Cool place for both indoor and outdoor events, music ranges from acoustic cover bands to psytrance, there's something for everyone. Prices are okay too, plenty of places to sit and the dancefloor is big too. Security guys can be off-putting sometimes, also it's on the Buda side of town so some atrocities are par for the course

There is no doubt this is the best gig venue in Budapest. The acts they book truly show that they know music, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Mogwai, God is an Astronaut etc. The place is cool, great location and reasonable prices

I was there on Monday early evening — it was calm and not too crowded. The interior is truly impressive, and the bartenders were relaxed and friendly. I had a cider and spent some quiet time in the corner of one room. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and would definitely come back again.

The most well known Ruins bar in Budapest, and it lives up to its name! It’s a place with an incredible vibe, very unique and vibrant. The place is enormous, both indoor and outdoor area with so much to explore, even an area for live music performances. It’s definitely an interesting experience, especially if you visit after taking a sneak peek into the history of Ruins Bars.

Unfortunately, we were there during the day and not in the evening, because it's apparently an incredibly cool party location in the evening. We'll make up for that next time. During the day, it's a market where you can buy many typically Hungarian things, including fresh fruit and vegetables, and there are local artisans selling their wares, which is very interesting because it apparently isn't too overrun with tourists yet. We treated ourselves to a beer at a small bar, which was freshly tapped and very tasty. Definitely an unusual place! And something different for a change. See photos

A unique experience, not to be missed. We got there at about 7pm, by which point all seats were taken, so earlier arrival is best if you want to sit down. It was very hot in there as well, so a coat probably isn't needed.

Trendy bar in central Budapest. Nice atmosphere and always busy. There eas no live music playing when we went in, but I think they sometimes have this so worth checking. Definately a must to visit when in the city, and quite a unique place to have a drink or some food. I didn't try the food but from what I saw it looked fine.

I had such a great time visiting the ruin bars in Budapest. The atmosphere is unlike anywhere else, creative, and full of energy. I had the Geisha cocktail, unfortunately for such an expensive cocktail I cannot understand why the sticky decoration is on the outside of the glass, I touched the green part so many times 🥲 it wasn’t a pleasant feeling! You should definitely change that. I got the first table outdoor you might consider to have more small tables in the panoramic side so we all can enjoy the river view because I saw many empty tables and most of them were big ones. I must say that the service it was amazing! From the 2 hostesses to all the waiters around (all of them were so attentive) I also loved the complimentary olives and snacks.

We arrived at 18:00 and were immediately greeted by name after exiting the elevator. The host was very friendly and offered us a seat inside and outside. Our waitress Krisztina was very helpful and attentive. She did a great job and made our experience enjoyable. My margarita was a bit weak but besides that I had a great time. View was 10/10 I would recommend going during sunset! P.S Minimum spend is 25 Euro’s per person.

Great place to meet up with friends as it is centrally located. Nice music playing that's not too loud so you can still have conversations. It's💲pricey for drinks 🍷 , I would suggest beer as the cheapest option. There are plenty of bars within a ten minute walk where I am sure you can get better deals on drinks.

Can't say anything about the food, since I was there for a concert. It was a post hardcore show and the venu was not that cool about it tbh. They didn't let people stagedive even though the band was all for it, and I mean it is a hardcore gig so of course there will be some heavier moshing/stage diving and if they don't want it then they shouldn't have such bands. Beer was good though

We went there during the evening for some drinks. They had a happy hour till 7 PM! The cocktails were very well made and very reasonable. Ended up going there again the next day too! Right in the city center with a huge open space. Would definitely recommend!

I got VIP seat on one concert here. The security are rude and not polite, even they did not consider me to enter to the place to sign my drum sticks to the peroson who played the drums (not to mention the name of the drummer).

Very good bar on the roof of the building complex. The entrance was free, we went with a lift, the employee welcomed us on the roof and although we did not have a booking, it found us a place and settled us. The drinks were ok, played there live DJ, the views were nice to the whole of Budapest. I recommend that you like experiences and unconventional places.

Such a great bar, we went here just for drinks. You get a great view of the city! It had rained slightly, but the staff dried off some seats for us outside (as had stopped raining) which was nice. They were very attentive and friendly. Perhaps some outdoor heaters could be nice, but overall a great experience. And they have the igloos which can be booked. We just had drinks here, not food.

We visited March 2025 but I waited to do a review hoping I would feel better about the experience. I had made the reservation 3 months in advance knowing it was a popular spot. My understanding was the reservation was a private igloo for 2 hours, turns out it’s a shared space, the other couples understood it was also a private space reservation. The space is tight, two very small tables for two and a seating area for four with a coffee table, we had a dinner reservation so eating off the coffee table wasn’t great. It was very loud with eight people in such a small space. The service was slow and underwhelming, the food wasn’t good and the fondue cheese was just gross. The view was okay, but not enough for me to recommend this place!

This rooftop bar has a great location with an amazing view of the city. The atmosphere is very nice and relaxing. We tried two cocktails, they were just okay, nothing special. But the place itself makes up for it. Prices are reasonable too. Overall, a great spot to hang out and enjoy the view!

10 years old rooftop restaurant. Working till 2 am, good option after opera. Definitely need reservation. Better for company of 4-6 people to book separate igloo, other wise you will share small igloo with deferent couples. To sit outside is very windy. Good was tasty, good variety of wines and craft beer. The service can be faster.

A brilliant and truly unique venue. I arrived after the boat party around Budapest, and the journey from the boat to the venue was smooth and easy. The atmosphere didn’t miss a beat – lively, memorable, and well worth the visit. Drinks were on the pricier side unless you caught a deal, but the setting more than made up for it. Food was also available. Not rated 5* due to cost of drinks.

Go there on Thursday and get unlimited drinks. Super fun experience and a great time if you go with a big group. Make sure you get in line extra early. Staff was definitely unfriendly but that was to be expected — they had to serve a lot of people very quickly.

DONT GO!!! My friend got drugged and no staff members cared nor called ambulance. That night multiple others were completely nocked out. (We saw some laying in a corner or a girl being carried out by men) but we could not do anything about it. The women at the Garderobe even laught at me when I told her, the bar man just shrug his shoulders. The drink must have been spiked either by the bar man or by someone passing by because we watched the drinks carefully.

Big club and lots of rooms with lots of dance genres. Locals friendly. Bit of pain getting in and out but once your in its great. Smoking and vaping in the courtyard if that is your fancy. Not the cheapest but it's city centre. By you glass and refill for one fee up to late. Good late night out.

Worst experience ever. The staff, especially security, were very unfriendly. They grabbed us by the arm when we just wanted to leave. No one was friendly or listened to us; they immediately judged us and treated us badly. I've never felt so bad in a club before.

The bartenders are incredibly arrogant. As an Erasmus student with an elb card I have a discount. They'll see your wristband themselves, and you have to explicitly say so, otherwise they'll charge the highest price. Every time I mention I should get a discount, they make a fuss and roll their eyes. I've been here several times and the bartenders have always given me the same service. The music is good and the place is nice, but the staff is terrible.

We booked the VIP booth next to the DJ on Saturday and had an awesome time, the Dj really good and energetic, the security did a great job in making it feel exclusive, I would also like to give a special mention to our server Emma, she was very helpful and attentive to our needs at all time. What an incredible experience! My friends and I were visiting Budapest for a stag do and Otkert was at the top of the list of venues we wanted to visit. We can now say it was a great decision and we had an absolutely fantastic time. The VIP service was truly exceptional on both nights we attended. On Friday, we enjoyed the Gold Area, and the service was top-notch. Then, on Saturday, we had pre-booked the Diamond Area right next to the DJ booth, and it was even better! A massive shoutout to Emma, who was our main waitress both nights. She was absolutely brilliant – attentive, friendly, and made our experience unforgettable. We'll definitely repeat if we return to Budapest!!!

Good place but young audience. Music was nice with different style. 2 floors with 2 different type of sound. Price a bit high for Budapest. I found it more classy and elegant place than Instant which is more underground.

Overall, we had a good time – the music and atmosphere were really nice. However, there was one very unpleasant moment: a security guard grabbed my friend roughly by the hand, insisting she show him her bag, even though she didn’t even have a bag with her. After realizing that, he still pulled her strongly just to “check” and then called her an idiot. It didn’t completely ruin our night, but it was a very disrespectful gesture that shouldn’t happen in such a place.

Didn’t like place, didn’t like food- tried Langos but it was served almost cold, not tasty and sausage on it was not good. One langos no drink 15€. Would not come there ever and don’t recommend to even stop by. Overpriced food drinks. There are many much much better places around that area.

...the location is spot on in the city of Budapest. As other reviews told, rather very young audience. I have been there with my wife and we both have risen the avarage age dramatically. Starting with a lot of girls, early but later only young boys hanging around on the dance floor. The music was,..., at least dance-able, but truly got repeated after three hours. So overall funny experience for us, mostlikely we were not the targeted audience. Bar crew was kind and quick, loos were kept clean.

Beautiful restaurant, delicious food, amazing service though I didn’t realise that I was charge for extra things that I was told came as part of my meal and my husbands meal an extra €4 each plus they charged for ketchup and mayonnaise in a restaurant. They also charge 15% automatic service charge on anything you purchase which is off putting to add to your bill plus when you go to pay they still ask if you want to leave a tip on top of it like what can I not just go out and eat and enjoy my meal without worrying about service charge and additional tip? Hmmm the food was good but not that good to leave 15% tip on top of 15% service charge, plus the food was not cheap for Budapest. This is not good at all as now I wouldn’t recommend my friends or family to visit and face these extra fees at the end of a meal. Lovely service food was good but too many no no nos for me.

My wife and I had a great time at Szatyor bar last night. The service was great, the girls were very polite and helpful. The food was delicious. We had a Feta spread with dried tomatoes for starters with a Limosa cocktails. For main dish my wife had a grilled chicken filet with a special sauce and I had the Rebel burger. We split a Chocolate rolls desert. We had an amazing experience and we can't wait to go back!

I used to visit often living in Buda years back, and visited again after 5 years not knowing what to expect. We really had a lovely experience. My salmon was well cooked and delicious, as well as the beef from the burger. The rest of the food was lovely and cocktails were great. The service was always kind, on point and the staff was lovely, they didn't mind we could only speak in English to them, they were spot on. Fully recommend and we will be back. Thanks!

This is a pub frequented by locals who enjoy Hungarian folk dancing to live music. As a tourist, it was a fun glimpse into Hungarian music, dance, and local culture. A lady even taught me a little bit but it was difficult to keep up 😂. The dancers here are so skilled and look like they’re having lots of fun. It was a great Tuesday evening!

Cool place. I used to go there more often. Went back recently and I was surprised to see there's a 15% service fee 🤯 for bar service. Also, you can keep the vibe, but so some cleaning around your service equipment ffs. We live in the neighborhood, and I'm a big fan of neighborhood bars, but probably it'll be a while before I go back again. Hopefully it's a bit better by then.

The place is totally hidden, unless you know what you’re lookong for, you won’z find it. Outdoors it is really nicr with all the ivy hangung over the place. Indoors it has a nicr warm atmosphere. The prices are pretty good too

It's a hidden gem away from the street hustle. Where you can go, kick back with your friends, have a chilled beer. I didn't order food , so I don't know how that is but this a cosy place to spend some time with your friends. The outside is fine but the inside has a very minimal , low light decor. If that's something you like, you should sit inside. But in hot summer days it would be nice to sit outside under the trees. A must visit place if you are in Hungary , just to chill.

A local ruin bar in Budapest which they are quite famous for! This bar is set away from the nearest busy street (Kazinczy u.) but is a 5 minute walk from there. Ruin bars are generally have open roofs with sheltered areas so you can be open to the elements depending on where you're sat, but it does feel like you're sat indoors! However, we had no issues - there is a massive selection of drinks available and the prices are decent. The environment can be quite noisy if it is busy but there is lots of space to be sat around. TIP: As it is open, you can smoke/vape throughout the whole place, for some this may not be ideal.

This place was being racist towards people of colour and had the audacity to deny us entry saying it's full and we're "middle class". We had free tables for our friends and we all saw customers exiting yet they denied us entry.

Great idea to make an open-air food court with different points with food! You can grab the food and drink at any cafe you want and then just sit outside. The place is very lively and cool, however, the staff is very ignorant and not friendly. Also, the food isn't fresh at all the cafes situated there. I really liked Las Vegans' point! Recommended!

A great place to hang out and have a bite. They have a varied street food menu: burgers, Indian food, Kürtőskalács, ice-cream etc. and they're all vegan xD.

The wait time was actually insane for everything. The wait to get inside, the wait to get seated for food and not at the bar, the wait to get the menu even, the wait to get the bill? From the time of waiting in line to getting seated for actual food was at least 30-40 minutes. In the cold, we were waiting for 30 minutes. Admittedly, the ambience inside is quite nice. We loved the paper notes being plastered on walls and thought it was very unique. Then the wait to get the menu once we were seated upstairs in the restaurant area was at least another 20-30 minutes. The waitresses and waiters are actual masters are avoiding eye contact and our hand raises. They looked like they were quite busy and were on the move the whole time, but a 30 minute wait just to receive a menu feels insane. We were half convinced they forgot about us? The food came very quickly after ordering. Potentially on account of the fact that we ordered easily spoonable soup and airfryable (not sure how they made them tbh) croquettes? Perhaps this wait time would be different if we had ordered something else. The goulash was not bad. It was much more filling than expected, so definitely share between 2 people. The croquettes were also good, but you definitely need ketchup to eat all of them. There's just so many. They came out steaming hot and crispy. The aperol spritz and the baby guiness pictured below came within 15 minutes? Which maybe is a little long for drinks but in the span of how much we waited it felt very fast. Waiting for the bill took ages. At least an hour. We had to ask twice... tried many times to get the servers attention... watched as other people who had come after us managed to get the bill and leave... We had been hostage at this pub for like 3 hours and were very sleepy after travelling and landing in the morning. We understand that the staff are very busy and that the place is crowded, but genuinely the amount of waiting we had to do between every step was next level.

Our waiter Andy was one of THE BEST waiters we have EVER met! I don’t eat gluten so he was extremely understanding and helpful with that. His recommendations were excellent for food and drink and we also had some of the best plum Pálinka we have ever tried! The music was fab, the vibes were amazing, the décor was SO unique and FUN! It was a great night out that we are always going to talk about!

We came to this pub because we saw good reviews on TikTok. The drinks were amazing and true to their culture. The bartender and wait staff were lovely especially, the bartender Christian. He was very conversational, kind and recommended some lovely drinks to us. For Sale Pub is an absolute must-see in Budapest, primarily for its incredible atmosphere! This pub is famous for the thousands of handwritten notes and papers covering every inch of the walls and ceiling, making it a unique tourist attraction. While the food is perhaps the weakest point, the overall ambiance completely saves the experience. The energy is special, and the waiters were extremely friendly, ensuring our visit was comfortable and welcoming. The massive portions of peanuts and the cozy, chaotic decor make this place an unforgettable spot you simply have to visit while in the city.

The meat is tender and juicy, melting in your mouth, and the portion is generous enough for two or even three people. It’s one of those dishes you simply have to try when in Budapest – authentic, traditional goulash at its very best.

It is a nice, famous place apparently. It is large and it was very busy on a Thursday night. Beer could be smaller and colder. Food was good but not delicious. The chicken was super cooked and dry. The tapas were tasty. I liked the place but would not recommend or go back.

The best food I have ever eaten, and I don’t say that lightly. Having read the reviews I wanted to try this place. The staff were so sweet and the food was cooked so fresh. We had the soup starters (including a delicious goulash soup), the chicken and avocado salad main, the fig and goats cheese main and the duck ragu … I have never tasted such fresh and delicious food!! It’s sitting as one of the top 5 of my life - wow, just amazing! We tried the pistachio tiramisu for desert which was tasty too. Not a bad price, friendly staff and the most delicious food ever. Would 1000% go again.

Delicious food served in a spacious environment, very popular with the locals. It is certainly advisable to book. Good for vegan and vegetarian. I had veal and Hungarian noodles with avocado and almond salad for starters and the whole experience certainly made my day!

I have been visiting Köleves for about 10 years once a year. I am frequently in BUD and was always amazed. Yesterday it was kind of disappointing as if a new owner/ team runs the Restaurant. No local beer, Strange food in a way not very Tasty. I told it the Crew an it was like that someone thought „I knew that this would Happen“

Short tempered staff and poor service - DO NOT RECOMMEND We arrived at 5pm in perfect to source some local Hungarian wine. Despite there only being five people in the entire venue the staff told us we had one hour to drink and then leave because they were “fully booked”. Our bottle of wine (good selection available but not guidance provided) was delivered to us and then we were promptly ignored. The staff placed other walk-ins at the unreserved bar area (no time restriction). In the end, we were handed the bill and FORCED to pay a 15% service charge for the privilege of being there.

I went there with my girlfriend to try some Hungarian wines. The price had increased recently but the price/quality ratio and the food were still quite good compared to other local places in Budapest. We decided to come back again the next day and it was even better. One of the server (probably the owner), was very knowledgeable, generous and eager to make us try and discover local wines. He adapted his recommendations too our tastes and envies, along the dinner. We will miss this place and its passionate server!

I've been visiting Kadarka with both local and foreign friends and always had a vedy positive experience. The staff is really friendly and ready to provode advice on the extensive wine list should someone have only a basic knowledge of wines or only a faint idea of what to taste. The atmoshpere fits that of a wine bar: a bit exquisite but not extravagant, somewhat more than a bar, but you will not feel uneasy. We also tasted their cuisine a couple of times and found it really tasty - optionally coupled with fine Hungarian wines. I warmly recommend both for a quick tasting or a night-long immersion into something Hungarian.

This is by far my favorite wine bar in Budapest. They serve top quality Hungarian wines from small producers, the stuff you’ll never find in supermarkets. They have on the magnitude of a hundred different wines available by the glass and they have super knowledgeable staff to help you pick. Much of their wait staff has been there for years. Their food selection is basic but it’s enough and you’re there for the wine, anyway.

Fröccsterasz in the city center has a great vibe and lively atmosphere, making it a popular spot for tourists. However, the food is overpriced with small portions. Additionally, there's a fee to use the restroom, even for customers.They allow you to use the restroom fee as credit for another drink, but this forces you to buy more than you might want. While the setting is enjoyable, these policies may affect your overall experience.

One of the worst burgers I’ve ever had! My burger was burnt, but I had already waited 20 minutes. I was tipsy and very hungry

The bartender charged 1500 forints more for drinks. After asking why, she said that 1000 is a refundable deposit for a plastic cups. But she couldn't explain the extra 500 forints. When buying another thing, the price was already normal. Even though we were clients we have to pay 500 forints per person for the toilet, thats crazy. Be careful I think it is a tourist trap. Apart from that the cocktails were tasty…

For some reason I got charged 5,150 forint for a 700 forint glass of wine and 2950 forint pint of beer. Ridiculously expensive for drinks in plastic cups, that is served by someone that doesn’t even speak to you, in a place that stinks of cigarettes. I hope no one else gets scammed.

As a craft beer enjoyer, I could definitely recommended this place: it is the top spot to check in the whole Budapest. Micro craft brewery is located just a few steps from the bar, simply look behind your back while ordering a beer. Awesome bartenders (greetings Luca!) with a huge beer knowledge, always smiling and helpful. Compared to the other multi-tap bars I've visited, the prices are more than affordable. Tiny, cozy, comfy - simply amazing!

I came to gravity brewing with a mission. Motivated, focused and determined to try as many beers from their line-up as possible in a single sitting. Polaris, Solar Wind, Magnetar, Collision Course and Draco were beers I’ve tried😵‍💫 It’s not very often when I can say that every beer on tap was excellent, well that was the case at Gravity Breewing. Every beer had a clean and enjoyable profile and was unique in terms of flavour and character as a beer style. I never had anything similar to Sour, NZ Lager, Porter or Stout designed by Gravity Brewing. Well done and congrats to brewers…I’ll be back 😎

Couldn't find it at first, just look around the corner. The bar lady did a great job; she's honest and knows how to build up the rounds. This is the place for people to enjoy the craft beer at a relaxed pace.

Awesome experience (on a Monday even). There’s a reason they have five stars. Great staff (English friendly), can not decide if the light or dark beer styles are better as they all are and you had to peal me off (4K unique beers). My only issue is no “flights” (I like to taste it all, but half pours kind of sway your opinion after a while). A must stop if you’re a beer geek in Budapest though. Traveler tip: if you’re having a “change up” day between engagements, there’s a laundromat across the street!

The setting is stunning — a grand Art Nouveau building of the Four Seasons Hotel, with high ceilings, Art Deco furnishings, and rich green velvet. The visual presentation of the menu is impressive, and the drinks are beautifully crafted. However, what I consider an absolute failure is the service. In such a luxurious and expensive venue, it is completely unacceptable to wait 15 minutes without being served, even though several waiters passed by our table. When I finally went to the bar to ask if we could order, the only response I received was a curt “yes.” For an establishment of this calibre, such behaviour is simply unacceptable.

What an excellent cocktail bar! They had a high tea we also did that I couldn’t recommend enough with a live piano player. The snacks we got at the bar were exceptional and I wished I was more hungry to try more things. Their cocktails were inventive and fun, and their wine selection phenomenal. Lots of great local wines to try!

The service was disappointing, and the menu felt very limited for a venue at this level. Despite the restaurant being far from full, it took a long time for anyone to approach the table. When I finished my drink, no one came to ask whether I wanted anything else. In fact, no one came at all, and I eventually had to go to the counter to pay. I do not recommend this place; it is simply not worth the time. Because of this experience, I have also decided not to stay at the hotel, even though I originally planned to. It is the most expensive hotel in the city, and if the service there is anything like what I experienced in the restaurant, it is not worth the risk. There are much better places in Budapest where guests are genuinely looked after and can expect proper service.

I had an excellent experience at this cocktail bar! The service was exceptional, with staff who were attentive and welcoming. The drinks were expertly crafted and absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was vibrant and inviting, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a great evening. Highly recommended!

It is an excellent place right front of the chain bridge, inside of the Fourseason hotel. If you’re looking for quality drinks, cocktails snacks, nice atmosphere then this your spot! I really recommend you this place. It has beautiful interior andpleasant atmosphere.

The first place I visited during my stay in Budapest served a very delicious meal (I don’t remember the name—if you know it, let me know!). Unfortunately, I lost my earmuffs there, and when I went back they were gone, which made my first experience a bit sad. Regardless of that incident, I kept going back and even celebrated my birthday there. I love the atmosphere and the variety of activities you can enjoy while you’re there.

Yesterday I went to this bar to “have a good time,” but thanks to the staff, my experience was terrible. We tried to play the games they have there, but they wouldn’t accept a “torn” bill to buy the tokens for the machines. The bill wasn’t even broke. When we finally got some tokens, the machines didn’t even work… I went to tell them, and the girl said, “There was a sign saying it didn’t work.” I told her there wasn’t, and she replied, “Well, I didn’t take it down,” and refused to help me at all. I spoke to the other bartenders, and they had already passed the word around not to do anything about it. I’m sure another staff member would have been more human and actually helped. But this girl wasn’t helpful at all. The place was empty, the drinks were awful, and nothing worked. I don’t recommend it — there are plenty of nearby bars with much better service.

Great place! Dancefloors are usually mostly empty, but the atmosphere is great, you can really meet other people, and the drinks are good.

I love that pub. First time I visited because a friend recommended. All the time in Budapest is worth to visit. They have 3 environment and the prices are affordable.

The location is really great and this is where I had the most fun among the ruin pubs I visited in Budapest. You can play billiards, table tennis and more games and it's not too crowded during the weekend (unlike other clubs/pubs) in the city.

Bad service. Miscommunication occurred because it looked like they weren't working, and the guy even decides to kick into me one more time after I PAID. He tells me if it takes more than 3 minutes to make my drink, then I won't get it because they are closing that bar (the other one was still open), and then says to his colleague to make it slower. How is that acceptable?

Really fun place to go to play air hockey, pool, table tennis, but not much choice in snacks, no hot drinks and a small collection of standard soft drinks only, the tables were all available as it was a weekday, it is much more busy from Thursday to Sunday, but on weekdays no reservation needed. The staff is helpful.

Fairly good place, young staff willing to chit-chat and a hip vibe all around - we were quite surprised to see among the eaters a group of suited up people as if they were on a business dinner. Not a huge selection of food, and the serving method is funky - selection of condiments you pour by yourself and we got our tortilla chips in a bag. But what we ordered was tasty and filling, plenty of veggies to go with it too. However, what's really a bummer dragging the whole experience down is the company for reusable cups they partnered with - you don't ever get your deposit back. Ever. You can only redeem your tokens for new cups, which has a whole host of issues I'm sure I don't have to explain. It wasn't a negligent deposit either.

Its a very welcomed place át Kőbánya, finally we have also a "sit outside" ruin pub where not only the local drunkards are spending their time, but widely around anyone looking for a cosy outside place with reasonable prices for the summer time gathering 😎. I really enjoyed it there, probably will wisit more frewuently, even with my dogs 😉

Cozy hidden place! Nice staff normal drink prices, great food and full retro feeling. Live lounge music was amazing and we almost forgot that the restrooms are mobile toilets. Must visit!

My favorite beer garden to catch up with friends while enjoying a proper beer. The Balkan Burger is an absolute must try here, crusty fresh bread with juicy meat and fresh salad. Background music selection is nice and not too loud. Dog friendly place. Highly recommend if you happen to be in Városliget.

Great outdoor venue for drinks and burgers. Set in front of an abandoned art expo hall from the late 1800's in the middle of the Varosliget park. Perfect for those warm sunny days and the evening vibe is wonderful when the string lights start to glow warmly as the sun sets. This place won't be around long since the will building will be refurbished in late 2017.

Although the price is bit high considering the quality in my opinion, the biggest concern is the attitude of the staff, which often rude. Nevertheless, the atmosphere is great.

Great place for trying the "balkan burger". A bit different than regular burgers with a thin patty and sourdough bread, but still a great (and cheap) meal. The place itself has a great atmosphere and it feels like the majority of people there are locals and regulars. Highly recommended.

Cool little ruin bar, a lot less busy than Szimpla Kert but still just as quirky. Nice selection of drinks and a large dance floor as you go further into the bar. It is a cash only bar so make sure you have cash before arriving.

Came here to watch the FIFA semi-finals. Great party vibe and beautiful decor. I didn't have food but people I was with said it was good. Beer is cheap!

Hintaló Iszoda is honestly such a vibe. It’s this super cozy, slightly quirky pub where you instantly feel like you’ve stumbled into a hidden gem. The atmosphere is warm, a little artsy, and definitely perfect for alternative folks who are tired of the same old generic bars. Prices are on the higher side for me personally, but not outrageous, and honestly the whole experience makes up for it.

Loved the artistic vibes there. All those paintings on the walls are just amazing. Cute cafe 😍 and bartender was also very kind and polite. She speaks perfect English.

If you are looking for a nice place for a drink, this is a good option. They offer several cocktails and great music. They accept card payments and the location is pretty original: an abandoned building in the middle of Budapest.

This is a cool place with a nice selection of drinks and good food. Service at the bar was quick even on a busy night. Food was slower but it was worth it. Good value overall. So good we went back the next night!

I actually preferred this ruin bar to Szimpla Kert. We went on a Friday night and it was busy but not too crowded. Good selection of drinks and great atmosphere. You can dance if you want to but there will always be an area to chill with a drink if that's your thing.

In general, my experience was okay, but not excellent. It took a little while for the waiter to come to me. Nice view and delicious drinks.

Peter is an expert in his craft and can give excellent advice on what cocktail will set the mood and explain in a professional manner how the tones of the drink come out. He is also an expert at explaining the ratios for each drink he has made us. Side note from the other person: HE WAS GREAT. Give this man a raise or a bonus, he worked hard the whole time we were here and really made the place feel professional.

We had a great time at Blue Fox The Bar. Fantastic service, atmosphere and nice patio overlooking the park & Ferris wheel. We visited numerous times during our trip. So much fun Saturday night listening to the Latin trio. They had everyone dancing! Very professional bartenders & servers. Benjamin provided outstanding service, remembered our preferences and also made great recommendations. He made our trip to Budapest extra special!

I spent the most time in this bar during my visit to Budapest. At first I took it as an emergency stop when I had a place right across from my accommodation (it is a hotel bar). Right after my first visit, I knew that I would return, not because I didn't know where else to go, but because it was worth it. I didn't try anything from the signature menu, but I have to point out above all the professionalism of the (kinda young) staff, who immediately remembered my preferences and then chose cocktails accordingly when I gave them a free hand. The space is pleasant, the bartenders are knowledgeable, the prices are relatively high, but linked to quality. In short, everything was fine.

We visited the bar, it is located on the ground floor. The music is nice, the decor is very nice and the drinks were amazing. The price is 30 euro per person average. You can also order food. I recommend this fancy place for drinks. Places are limited better you book

Located at a luxury hotel in Budapest, we really liked being there, cozy and welcoming, the waitress were patient and recommended drinks.

So far I found this place have the best cocktails in Budapest. Norbert is usually my bartender who makes it an amazing experience by explaining all the details how the cocktails were made and what was the inspiration behind them. I did have good experience with the other bartenders. I found their cocktails have lots of depth and different layers of flavors besides being creative. I also consider the price to the quality are exceptional. In New York or in Miami for a similar cocktail with half of the quality someone would pay like 3-4 times more for it.
