A trip down memory lane for me and had a cocktail in memory of the lads. The cocktails are very professionally made and it's well worth the wait. Wish I had had more time to sample more of the menu, but alas enough time for a vodka martini (stirred not shaken) before I had to head back.

Popped in for a couple of cocktails as we've been in before. We had a Evil Eye Smoothie and it was fantastic.The lady who made them was lovely.we went upstairs and sat on one of the beds which was different and very chilled. We will be back !

If you want a decent cocktail, this is the place to go. The list of options is simply huge. The bar staff are on it like a car bonnet and the drinks they concoct with such artistry are some of the best I’ve tested anywhere. The bar itself is what I can only describe as quirky rustic with a nice vibrant atmosphere. If you want chic surroundings, mood lighting, faux greenery and apron-clad bartenders, this is not the place for you, but if you’re just looking for a great cocktail, look no further.

This cocktail bar was unique and had so many cocktails on the menu it took forever for us to choose the ones that we wanted. They weren't too bad, not sure if it was down to our choices of if they were just averagly pumping out cocktails at speed. Was fairly quiet at around 8 pm, although as we left, the singer was setting up to do a set, so I no idea how busy it got for that. It was a thursday night. The snakes and ladders shots drinking games blew my mind, i have put a picture on this review. If you think you can handle it, give it a go.

It is not big but is popular with groups and couples. They have an upstairs but it's too popular so try the patio outside past the loos. Room to sit and chat without being crowded . They stock a variety of beers. The cocktail menu is a wide choice with all staff able to create them. You can see the care being used to create them.

A thoroughly enjoyable evening at Fossgate Social. Had splendid drinks and the atmosphere was quite perfect. Only note would be more ‘naners, didn’t see a lot of ‘naners in here 🍌.

Absolutely love this place the cocktails are just divine. All the staff are fab but a special shout out to Albert for making the most delicious Bramble I've had in years! Husband had the Banana man and felt the same!

Lovely little place. Combines doing good coffee and tea, with craft beer on tap and cocktails. Add in delicious toasties including a decent vegan one and we were happy here. Nice friendly team, they checked a beer for me to make sure was vegan ( it was) . I know where I'm returning too next time in York

My partner popped in here the previous evening to get out of the rain. We nipped in the following day as they have craft beer. I was shocked to see cakes for sale on the bar uncovered! I found this place to be cold, miserable and very dirty. I couldn't wait to get out, the staff were underwhelming too.

Fabulous place and hidden in a shop but when you get upstairs it really is unique. A large variety of beers and ales to choose from - listed by country, which was impressive. Decor is fantastic. Great atmosphere and lovely staff. Definitely worth a visit when in York. Great shop too, so much choice in miniatures! Awesome idea!!

Been meaning to visit here but the first time I couldn't find it and the other three times it was at capacity so glad I finally managed to visit. Such a a brill place with quirky décor. The food is amazing The bottle shop on the ground floor is amazing and do pop to the unique toilets !

A must visit if you’re in York and you can make it up the stairs. Some absolute crackers on sale on cask and keg plus a huge selection of cans and bottles on the other floors. This is such a popular place it can get busy but do persevere, you won’t be disappointed.

This is a real hidden gem. It's upstairs and you enter via stairs in the middle of the ground floor shop. The shop itself has a wide selection of beers from around the world as well as beer glasses. We bought some Delirium and Chouffe glasses that were reasonably priced. The upstairs bar is quirky and has a medieval hall feel about it though some people might not like the stuffed animal heads on one of the walls. There's a good selection of interesting beers on tap as well as bottled beers. We've walked by without knowing it was here but will definitely visit again when we next go to York

Lovely little pub. Lovely atmosphere. We didn't get a chance to try the food but it looked nice. Good range of beer and it looked like whatever you could buy in the store downstairs, you could then take upstairs and drink. Stairs are quite tight as expected in beautiful old buildings and toilets are downstairs. Service good. Will be visiting again!

Well, where do I start, what an amazing place, when you walk in you think it's just a small dank bottle shop, you couldn't be further from the truth, as you walk upstairs to the bar area you are welcomed with a vibrant buzz from the conversation and surroundings that wouldn't feel out of place in 16th century England. The choice of ales is amazing, the food looked great, although not having ordered any. I can't recommend this place enough, especially if you like ale. Suffice to say........ I will definitely return here at every opportunity 😁

Wow. What a place. Absolutely buzzing with atmosphere on a Thursday night. We didn’t order food (apart from a couple of packet of tasty Yorkshire Crisps) but the food & portions looked awesome. Great selection for all tastes (Carnie, Veggie & Vegan). We got the only two seats at the very narrow bar and had a right laugh with the no-nonsense bar crew. It was so easy to order drinks using a number on the display next to the bar. The beautiful wooden rafters and full taxidermy wall make the upstairs bar one of the maddest place to get a pint. I think there is a potato is a big cat’s mouth. Standard. Sheepskin covered church pew and candles in bottles with years of dripping wax adds to the madness. As well as the incredible selection of cask & keg, they had Whitby Rum on the shelf. No generic spirits here! Oh and the soundtrack… The bar crew were playing what they like. Not what the brewery tells them to. Refreshing! Can’t wait to return.

We were really pleased with our visit to this restaurant, the staff were incredibly informational with lots of advice on what drinks and food we might like and were just very kind and helpful. Overall, the bar and restaurant was extremely clean and well looked after with very detailed Viking themed decorations. Our seating was very simple but had a huge, huge impact on the whole experience of eating here, it’s just another very different and special place to visit when in York. Following the general theme of witch, wizardry and magic, it integrates with the history of York as it was once a Viking town And takes you back to those years while also putting a modern enjoyable spin on things. The drinks were great, I found out that I don’t really like mead, but my partner who does said they have a fantastic range. The food was delicious, we ordered one of the main boards and ate it together but couldn’t actually finish it because it was so large. Full of flavour, beautifully presented and very hot. Extremely happy with the service, food, and price that we got with this experience and visit!

this place is amazing! the atmosphere and vibes are cozy and viking themed with a selection of comfy sofas and benches. we had the ragnarok platter. it was served quickly - fresh and hot. it was amazing! shoutout to the honey mustard sausages in particular, they were so juicy and the flavour was divine. the ribs’ meat fell off the bone so easily, absolutely delicious and tender. the chips were perfectly spiced! would definitely get food here again.

An absolutely essential destination pub/restaurant for anyone visiting York. Great atmosphere with great music (metal but played at perfect volume so you can still be social), great, friendly service with helpful recommendations on ales and delicious locally sourced food. Me and my partner shared the Ragnarok platter which I highly recommend. Definitely felt like a vital part of our visit to York when trying to avoid the various branded restaurants.

Beautiful viking themed bar with a unique selection of drinks. Their own brew of various meads, which of the ones I have tried I would highly recommend. The food is tapas style, and was absolutely delicious. Can't wait to go again

Lovely friendly lady behind the bar, plenty of good beer on cask and keg. I enjoyed the Colab Stout with Brew York. The Viking platters were spot on for lunch with excellent ingredients: local Shambles pork pie and York artisan cheeses. A great experience

Stumbled across Valhalla whilst searching for independent places to eat and drink. Fantastic atmosphere and good selection of beers etc. Staff were friendly as well. If you love food, you have to try the Ragnarok. We had one each and for the amount of food, the price was pretty reasonable! Food was great and super tasty. Also a fantastic soundtrack!

I wish we had found this place earlier in our visit. Such a cool place, the building is like travelling back in time. Decent beer selection and an amazing singer Jimbo Doomface made it a night to remember.

Excellent pub in York, small but perfectly formed. Four or five excellent beers and the pork pie definitely fills a gap. Remember the rules though no groups, no phone noise! Though that's no problem everyone is very chatty and you'll forget your phone very quickly whilst enjoying a good pint or three.

After hearing so much about this pub and it's history I had to pop in during my visit to York, as others say it's cosy with only a handfull of tables in the pubs front and back rooms but it's friendly with a warm welcome from the team behind the bar, I had the Bluebell IPA and it was excellent. The pub is full of charm and character, I'm looking forward to my next visit when we're in York.

What an amazing way to travel back in time with a good beer. The inside of this pub is unchanged in over 100 years and is a real throwback. It's really small so expect to get cozy, but luckily the regulars are very friendly and chatty so that adds to the experience rather than detracting. Very knowledgeable and experienced landlord/bar man who shared a tale and a smile and some great cask beers to try. This really is a must try venue for anyone who enjoys ale and/or history. (Apparently York City FC were formed in the back room here too).

Stopped in at The Blue Bell while in York — the city’s smallest pub. Established in 1798 and last decorated in 1903, it still retains all of its Edwardian charm. There were a few local ales on tap, and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The few patrons inside had that easy, late-afternoon buzz that makes a pub feel just right. Tried their own IPA — smooth and well-balanced. Overall, a great spot for a proper pint and a taste of local history and character. Saluti.

Very signature pub in York. The pub is quite small but the drink is amazing and the decoration is so unique. You can meet a lot of local here and talk with them to hear many interesting stories abt York

Had a great few hours at Brew York. An incredible choice of beers and ciders (like a kid in a sweet show for beer lovers!). The prices were good for the quality of beer. My wife had some wine, which she really liked. Lots of space to sit either inside or outside. The place did get very busy later in the day (a good sign!), but still places to sit. I would highly recommend this place to all beer lovers and anyone who likes a drink in general.

Nice hidden gem in York just a short walk from town centre and off the tourist trail. Big hall with lots of seating. We were here for a short time as we were fitting a lot in to just a few days, but there is a huge selection on tap in pint, half pint and a smaller option! Small merch stand by the entrance where I grabbed a t shirt and some stickers. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in York

Great vibe and tasty beer! My partner really enjoyed the Tonkoko and I loved the Ragnarok Star. We did flights because we wanted to try quite a few of their options. The overall tap room was really nice and spacious, they offered tours, and you could get some nibbles from Yuzu.

I had a great night at Brew York, the selection of keg beer is awesome. I loved all of the hazy IPAs I tried. I had high hopes for the food but a lot of the dishes had fried elements to them. I opted for a katsu rice bowl, without the sauce, I also removed the fried veggie gzoya - I did try one but it wasn’t great. I also ordered an extra portion of pickled veg and stirred that into the rice which was very tasty. I’ll be back for more beer next time I’m working in York 🍻

We observed this lovely place as we were waiting for our uber and I want to say that besides the beer which was delicious, the staff really impressed me , especially Jay, they were very kind professional and generous! Because of that , I will definitely be back! The location was really beautiful and innovative, too bad they are hard to be spotted in my opinion.

50 taps, great food and welcoming staff. The Yuzu guys were really accommodating around an allergy and their food was superb. Would recommend 100%.

Many different types of beers here. The price is good. It’s a good place to enjoy the beer and some Asian street food.

Food was exceptional but service was shockingly bad. Place was not full and yet we waited 20 mins after being sat at a wobbly table for me to then have to ask if we could order a drink. We then were told 2 of the advertised as special drinks were not available. We then moved inside after a while to have our afternoon tea as we told the waitress but after 15 mins I wasn't sure if she had put the order in. I had to catch a waitress attention who was chatting at the bar and the order had not been put in. The food when it came was so amazing and the presentation was something I will always remember. Belly pork and sushi were exceptional. The bill already comes with food service and drink service charges which seems wrong as it is something we would normally add myself. If we were not brought the food they would not have any business, seems a very cheeky way of adding. Matcha scones were tough but the Kumquat jam was amazing. Came away feeling underwhelmed at the experience I had been looking forward to for 5 months.

We had a lovely lunch at Sora! We had the vegan bento boxes and all the food was lovely. It was definitely enough for lunch but we were itching to try more things off the menu so we left VERY full. View is amazing and the atmosphere makes the food taste even better. All the staff were lovely, especially the main waitress helping us throughout the lunch (16/7/2025).

Food was very disappointing, overcooked meat, to much sauce that covered the taste of the food. makis had been made in advance and left in the fridge, so the rice was hard. This place is not for foodies. I would only recommend for a drink as long as you get a view of the Minster. I was disapointed because it was supposed to be treat for my birthday.

For a small family get together to celebrate our twin girl's 18th, our time at Sora was a near perfect experience. The service was kind, personal, patient, polite and professional from the moment we arrived, to the moment we left. Our choices of tapas style dishes was ideal (3 each, plus a few sides) and the staff team took time to give us very helpful advice to guide our choices. All of the dishes arrived nicely prepared and presented, and the cocktails also proved very popular. A complimentary shot of citronella/vodka for each of our girls was a charming and well received touch too. Many thanks to everyone at Sora York for helping to make an important family moment special. 10/10 from us.

I’ve been here a couple of times before for the set lunch menu, bottomless Prosecco, and cocktails, this time I went with my boyfriend for date night and it was amazing! Service was so attentive even on a fully booked Saturday night, food came out in good time and was delicious. On Saturday evenings they have a violinist and she played beautifully. Food, drinks and service 10/10, we definitely recommend but definitely book at least a week in advance.

Didn't have food but the cocktails were amazing! Lovely staff too! Will visit in the summer to enjoy the amazing views (went at night time in November so the terrace weren't open!) A little loud at times (we were next to DJ/ live band) but overall enjoyable!

Came here with a party of 12 for a pre booked table. The service was spot on. Bar staff and waitress were helpful, polite and also had took the time to have a conversation with us. The food was absolutely amazing. I had the chicken wings for starters and the shared kebab for mains. No complaints with the food at all. Price.... Ever so slightly higher than what I expected, however this didn't take anything away from the overall experience. Would happily come back here again.

For mine the highlight of my visit to The Botanist York is the service. What a great group of young people! Happy, smiling, attentive and helpful. Ohh and don’t forget the menus a quality of the food on offer. A1….

Had a delicious meal here with friends. We were there at Sunday lunch time and it was busy but not packed. Our waiter was friendly and cheerful, and didn't rush us at all, but was there when we wanted him. Good food for a good price. Nice decor and nice atmosphere, perfect central location close to the Minster.

Prebooked and ordered for a group of twenty, didn’t have enough staff to cover the full restaurant plus a large prebooked group, food was ok, a few burgers were overcooked and dry, service was slow and patchy for the above reason. Condiments didn’t arrive until mains were mostly finished. Mid way through our meal the music was turned up in the upstairs area to the point we couldn’t hear one another whilst shouting and a big deal was made about having to turn down a disco in a seated restaurant setting. Overall the service took 2 and a half hours, no loo rolls in the ladies toilets which were requested twice before having to stand and wait until someone retrieved them.

We've not been to The Botanist for ages and popped in for some cocktails and a snack! Cocktails were delightful, the food was delicious and our waitress (we didnt get her name but she was from West London) was fabulous! Weirdly we all used to live and work in the area she was from which made for a lovely reminisce and end to the afternoon 😀

What can I say about such a wonderful place. The food is great, service from Ben tonight was great, he even up sold a pudding with just 2 words "Cookie Dough" and he wasn't wrong. We went here for an evening bite but will be going back for lunch and a hanging kebab as I had food envy of others dinning there tonight.

We weren't sure if we wanted food or just drinks. We settled on just drinks, the bartender was friendly, and the drinks were nice. Pubs aren't really my scene, but once I'd settled in, I found the atmosphere nice and relaxing. I think coming in on a weekday helped. I can imagine it being a nice place to come in the evening, though.

Food excellent with portion size generally good we went out using a offer of bottle of wine and 5 tapas for £40 as it was Feb it was a little quieter , maybe in summer it will be even better will go again

Visited York for one night and found this very nice and cozy bar with friendly staff. There was an open mic happening which was also very cool. Drinks were tasty and sophisticated. Definitely recommend.

Myself and my girlfriend had our first experience eating at Sotano of york Saturday night. What an amazing time we had. The service was excellent, we were well looked after a great big thank you to you all. The food was absolutely perfect we love tapas and that was the best we have had. Atmosphere was electric lots of people enjoying the whole Sotano experience with music playing. I highly recommend Sotano for an experience you will never forget. We will be back soon. Gorgeous little Tapas - food was amazing- lovely staff, great atmosphere- outside tera e was really comfy and we loved the Sangria!

This underground tapas restaurant and cocktail bar is well worth a visit. The atmosphere is probably the best thing here. Dark with above lighting creates a nice space to dine or meet with a partner. Drinks were very good - wine and cocktails. Service was excellent 👌. Really attentive service to the table and was there for several hours. Food was very good and went for the different tapas plates. Tapas bravas with both the garlic and tomatoe sauces was a winner. Also enjoyed the padron peppers which are crucial to any tapas. Tuna salad was good but maybe some seasoning in here would have boosted it. The deep fried items were of a good standard as were the sauces. Thanks very much for a nice evening here.

Located in a basement with confused wait staff - tapas served without flare. Made a reservation based upon the reviews but were disappointed when we were greeted by a bouncer on a Friday evening, demanding to know if we had a reservation before we could set foot inside. Once we passed the front door, we descended into an underground venue, and noticed that most of the chairs were backless stools. Our pate came straight from a jar, which it was served in, and the wait staff had absolutely no idea what was going on with any of the tables. Tapas were good, but nothing that would set the world on fire. Truthfully, I’m not sure we’d visit again as the club from next door was so loud all we could hear was thumping mixed with the ambient Light FM of the restaurant. Overall, distinctly average with nothing to make it stand out.

Popped in here and we were not disappointed. We fancied a glass of wine each and a small dish or two. Sure enough they had a brilliant small plates and wine offer. Superb value. I’d recommend the Anchovies and the chicken and Chorizo.

Very cosy and climatic pub in York. Good choice for a rainy evening. I liked their wine and whisky selection, they should work on their cocktail list. It wasn’t very crowded in the evening and I liked that it wasn’t very loud. Nice spot overall.

Great place to feel what a medieval pub would have been like. I especially like the creaky old wood floors on the top floor. The bar staff was very kind. I went back for another round.

I remember first coming here just after it opened. Had to laugh when a guy just asked if it was one of the oldest pubs in York. I'm old but not hundreds of years old. The building however is impressive and stretches over three floors. Boothroyd and Madge sat with me downstairs while the boss went M & S shopping. A lovely timber framed building. Three real ales plus a couple of real ciders. Had a bitter from Bristol Beer Factory. Excellent. Find it just off the market. Toilets upstairs. Awful Rap music on this visit..I wonder why they removed the big C before the RAP music. Go figure says Booth, especially as I am not even nearly the oldest git in here today.

Pivni York is a cosy bar. There is a wide choice of drinks including hand pulled cask conditioned real ales cider and bottled craft beers. The ones we sampled were in excellent condition. The ground floor was very crowded, but there was lots of seating on the two upper floors. The staff are very welcoming and the pub is dog friendly. It's definitely worth visiting.

Visited the oldest pub in York and was glad we did. The pub itself had so much character and history it was fascinating. The service was really good with friendly and helpful staff. The beers were really good, especially the beer flight, with a choice of 3 to try different types without drinking too much! We ordered the Duck Hash and it was delicious and filling. Definitely worth a visit when in York.

Allegedly the oldest pub in York, famously hunted. Good food (we tried the Kiev chicken and the duck). Great beers (excellent idea to offer a trio/ flight of 3 local beers at a very fair price). Kind service. Crowded as a British pub should be. To enter, you must go through a narrow alley as the entrance is not visible from the main road.

Finding this place was like going through a maze, but it was well worth it. If you're ever in York, this is the place to eat. We have lived in England for 9yrs now and I must confess that they served the best burger I have ever had. It's well worth the 30 min wait. 😋 it was the juiciest burger I have ever eaten. It was messy and looked disgusting, but absolutely DELICIOUS!!. I had the house special 🍔 and serving of wings. My husband and son both had fish and 🍟. They enjoyed their meals too. I can still taste the burger now. Perfect 👌. Thank you, chef.

Been here twice whilst in York. The pub is pretty big once you meander through the entrance of a narrow bricked corridor. There is loads of outside seating at the front and back of house. Lovely ambience & orientation of seating with very polite staff. The fish & chips were fantastic & the steak & ale pie was oozing in boozy deliciousness, it paired very well with the grilled cabbage.

Food was excellent and service was friendly would definitely come again. Dishes on the upmarket pub style prices of £10-£20 person. Small menu but good quality.

The York pub experience I was hoping for! Excellent ales, steak & ale pie, an interior filled with cozy rooms, stained glass and beautiful dark woodwork. The bartender was very patient as I decided on an ale! Happy pub crowd …I loved it!

I absolutely love pubs like this,it feels like you are stepping back in time when you walk through the wonky front door to a simpler time. Its definitely best to pop in on a autumn/winter day when there fire is lit and there is a lovely bustle to the place. All the little rooms give it a fantastic feel and if you close your eyes you can imagine folk from times gone by wheeling and dealing in the dark little corners of the rooms. The prices at the bar weren't to bad,we didn't try the food so I can't comment. To be honest who cares though when you are getting to sit in a pub that Dick Turpin properly was sat in drinking a pint of ale whilst trying to flog some of his ill gotten gains.

Booked for the bottomless brunch on a busy Saturday. Despite the table staff doing a good job, the venue could not manage the volume of customers. 1 drink in 1 hour for a bottomless was not good enough. The food took over 1 hour to come to our tables. It was disappointing that management left the table servers to deal with complaints for so many tables. Overall, very disappointed with our Manahatta experience...

Terrible experience. The waiter and waitress ignored me multiple times even when I tried to order. After waiting over 15 minutes standing at the bar right in front of them, they finally took my order but charged me almost double what others paid. Felt clearly racist and disrespectful. Wow!!! This place is amazing! There are 4 separate rooms, each decorated amazingly but different, plus the outside seating. Coffee was excellent but the dessert slices were even better. The caramel shortcake slice on particular was absolutely incredible! My husband and I fought over who got the last bite. We sat on the tower room up the top which hss a cosy round table and it's own heat. Sitting here at a shared table allowed us to meet some nice people.

Lovely restaurant with equally lovely and creative dining areas i.e. outside, and the 1st and 2nd floors. Sweet, friendly, polite, and accomodating staff. Nice, creative menu with good presentaion. However, we weren't too crazy about their french toast option with the strawberries. It looked great, though. I recommend, and would definitely visit again.

Lovely café near the river, really quite the gem! Staff is very attentive, interior fantastic, drinks and food as well. You order at the bar & get your food delivered to your seat. Go and enjoy a drink in the sun (or cozy inside).

Quirky unusual multilevel cafe/bar in converted bridge gatehouse but with delightful outside patio next to the river. excellent service and delicious food. best; bacon and tomato sandwich and scrambled eggs on sourdough ever! we discovered Dyls whilst walking the city walls circular route. The interior reminded me of Forbidden Corner in north Yorkshire.

Really couldn't fault this quirky little place overlooking the river in York. Loved all the plants everywhere inside the building. Staff were excellent and couldn't have worked harder. Drinks and food were great!

This is by far the cosiest, coolest place in York, maybe the UK, maybe Earth. Outside you can sit overlooking the river. Inside is a myriad of amazing little places to sit and savour the most amazing atmosphere ever! The cool Soviet satirical 'Crocodile' magazines from the 70s adjourn the walls. So cool. We were holding our phones up to the text to translate the political humour of the then Soviet Union at the time. Food and drinks and service and hospitality are alone, worth coming to York for. I will remember this delightful place until my dying day❤️. It's 5 minutes walk from the Rowntree campsite. Visit Dyals is a must!

Went for breakfast/brunch nice food but not amazing. The bacon was very nice and so was the sourdough, the chorizo beans were also a nice surprise. Sausages were just ok as we're the hash browns. For almost £17 I would have expected better. The drinks were delicious though, the cherry Bakewell cocktail is amazing easily the best I've tried. If you want two decent full English breakfasts and two great cocktails for £60, then you'll find it here, but I can imagine there are cheaper alternatives nearby that are just as good.

My friend and I stopped by for lunch without booking but they had no issues in seating us. We ordered small plates and sides. Everything was delicious, especially the thyme roasted mushrooms. Quality service from Tanya. She was attentive and efficient. This is not my first time here and it won't be my last. I love it.

Food was really good. Service was quick friendly with regular check backs with every course and to refil drinks. Decor was well kept and inkeeping with the cosy theme. Be aware the service charge is added to your bill which I might of had aissue with if the experience was not first class. But it was so I had no issues.

Reserved a table here after reading reviews, fantastic setting lovely old Building nice ambience about place waiting staff were very attentive and chatty had 2 steaks rib eye and flat iron, chips salad onion rings pepper sauce couldn't fault it, sweets were also superb well worth a visit.

We recently held a wedding reception here, and I can’t thank the staff enough for their incredible service. They went above and beyond to make the day special, and the food was absolutely outstanding. The atmosphere was spot on, and everything was spotless! If you’re looking for a place to host an event or just enjoy a meal, this is definitely it. I wish I could relive that day all over again!

Lovely place for breakfast had cool 1920s decor. Staff were friendly and service was quick I would recommend the matcha it came in a very quirky style glass also would recommend the smashed avocado with poached egg and halloumi

The food and drinks here are unbelievable, super tasty. I recommend the Steak and Ale pie and the sticky toffee pudding. A bit pricier than other pubs in York that serve food, but it's worth the price in my opinion. The ambiance inside is great for chatting, having a pint and relaxing with friends.

Wish I had discovered this place sooner in my four years of trips to York! We dined here for lunch one day and came back later in the week for dinner & pub quiz. They offer a solid pub menu with prices better than most in the area. The food was fantastic! The atmosphere is authentic and offers a few settings in one location: quiet dining tables great for families, couples, & large groups, a decorative outdoor garden, lively lounge area at the entry/front window sections for libations, upstairs has a unique private dining cove for date night, and rooms to host private large group dining. Our favorite part besides the food was the designated room for pub quiz night (you could actually hear the questions) that has a door/stairs leading to the outdoor beer garden. For those that are pub quiz fans: this one was particularly fun and creative. They had categories that were varied enough for every person on your team to contribute. The music/audio section and the finale of extra point bonanza was fantastic!! The writer for this pub quiz deserves props! The winner Well Yes, we did win!) received a bottle of wine and a prize from the box. It was by far one of our favorite pub quiz nights yet! Well done Eagle and Child! And for those that like hidden gems, there is a room upstairs with the preserved graffiti from the 1960's Rolling Stone's (written in Mick Jagger's girlfriend's lipstick)

Delicious food in a nice atmosphere. A great spot to stop for lunch after touring York Minster. We were told to grab any table and order at the bar. Service was quick and friendly. The food was tasty and of good quality with big portions. The interior is clean and well designed.

Fantastic venue for our wedding reception. The staff were incredibly helpful, friendly and great at responding to emails in the lead up to the date. They were also very accommodating to our requests and the upstairs floor booked was perfect for us and our party. Everyone commented on how nice the buffet was and it was also great to be able to choose an ale for the upstairs bar. Thank you for helping us make a memorable day. Popped in for a drink and food, not been in before. Friendly staff, very good selection of beers and lagers. Great looking building nice decor in keeping with its age. Sat in the window in 2 large winged fireside chairs.. Very comfortable.

What a great place. We needed a quick meal before our concert in nearby York Minster, a short distance away from out hotel. What can I say - the staff were polite, charming and served us very swiftly when explained that we needed to be in the Minster on time as the classical music concert was being recorded for BBC Radio 3. I chose the chicken breast stuffed with Brie, gorgeous new potatoes, rocket leaves, tomato etc. It was absolutely delicious. But I needed more time to savour every delicious mouthful! My friend chose the Sea Bass and a side portion of chunky chips.I just wish we could have lingered for dessert and to try the amazing array of beers. I was so sad we had to rush off and will definitely be back soon (not living too far away) to relax and sample more culinary delights and savour the experience properly. Thank you to the staff and compliments to the chef for the gorgeously-designed food combinations. Simple and seasonal but so delightful! This is my new "go-to" pub/restaurant now. My mouth is watering just thinking of it. 😍

We had a lovely Sunday roast. Good well amd tasty. Service was friendly and very efficient. We will definitely be returning. Excellent value too.

A nice cosy pub with really friendly personable service. The roast dinners looked amazing, but I found my halloumi burger to be quite dry. Would return for a veggie roast if back in York but skip the burger!

Lovely rooftop terrace which is great on a sunny day. Staff are friendly and attentive. Food was small plates tapas style and sharing boards. Not the best tapas we have ever had, didn't blow me away but was tasty and nicely presented. We enjoyed the vibe.

I booked for 13 of us with Karen for an early Christmas lunch. She sent the menus straight through so we could pre-order. The roast dinners were superb. Four couples had the roast trio (pictured) the quality of the meat was superb especially the roast beef. The service and staff were first class and nothing was too much trouble. We were there from 3-9 as they had two separate bands on who were brilliant and everyone was up dancing.. It was the best atmosphere I’ve seen anywhere for a long time. I hired the upstairs room and outside terrace for a private birthday party. The food was excellent and many guests commented on how good it was (chose entirely vegetarian but there are other options). The atmosphere was lovely with fairy lights and candles. Bar staff were great. All round an excellent venue. Several people tried to get in from downstairs, where it was very lively, but we politely turned them away and that worked.!

I never write reviews, most staff were friendly and thoughtful, my own fish & chips lovely too. However my parters chicken breast was pink, one staff encouraged other staff not to even look into this dish when I politely mentioned this concern. She was whispering behind the bar, pink chicken is not ideal, I’ve worked in many a bar & restaurant, this service/process nearly ruined my partners birthday trip away. Paid full amount to avoid any conflict.

Came this Wednesday, October 22nd, myself and my boyfriend . We noticed Kennedys on our way to the york minster, buy one get one free on burgers on a Wednesday 🍔 BARGIN! And popped in on our way back about 3.30pm It was about 1/4 full and staff served us quickly and with a smile ( which is rare nowadays) 2 burgers 2 fries and 1 drink ( under £20 ) We were given water and lemon in a jug when we arrived . Love that touch ! Will be back. Filled me up nicely for a late lunch x

I found this place.. well it's 2-4-1 burger 🍔 😋 Wednesday... and 2~4~1 cocktails 🍸.. yep I will have some of that... food was good hot and fresh.. cocktails was very good. No skimping on the alcohol here!. Seriously, try this place. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and suggested many drinks 🍸 to have thanks

Just Wow…. What a find. We were recommended to come here by a friend and we were not disappointed. Fish sharing board amazing and plenty of food for two. The wine recommendation from the lovely lady who served us was spot on. We also had a chicken salad and a trio of desserts with the dessert wine pairing and again cannot fault presentation. Portion sizes spot on. Produce great. Wine perfect and the whole atmosphere fantastic. Every member of staff we spoke to was really friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. We cannot wait to try again and recommend a visit.

Absolutely amazing lunch at Pairings. We sat at the bar and everything about our time there was perfect. Our server, Connor, was personable, friendly and gave us great recommendations. We enjoyed the mackerel pate, followed by the Mediterranean board…all accompanied with delicious wine. Can’t wait for our next visit!

Returned to Pairings after visiting last 3y ago. It was worth the wait. Food and wine was fantastic. We had a Deli sharing platter and a wine flight. What I love is how unfussy this place is. Great quality food and drink but really accessible. Staff are really friendly and welcome questions to help you find what you’d like and unpick the menu. Very reasonably priced for the quality.

A fabulous evening. We had the cheese lovers sharing board and our lovely waitress Anna recommended a gorgeous wine to go with it. A great atmosphere, and a luxury experience. Would definitely return.

Simply sensational, was recommended Pairings by a friend and it didn’t disappoint. We went for a late lunch on my wife’s birthday and had a fantastic time. The food comes as a variety of charcuterie boards with choices of meat, fish, cheese or various mixes. Everything we ordered was delicious and of the highest quality. We simply couldn’t find fault with anything.

For a place that seemed so small and quaint, the food, drinks and service packed quite the punch. Wife and I visiting York for the day were tempted by Sorted Food’s chef Ben glowing recommendations and the place certainly lives up to the hype. Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here

We hosted our annual trade show pre-dinner at the Biltmore Bar & Grill in York on Tuesday, 14th October, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming, and the staff were attentive and always ready to help. Bar service was quick, efficient, and delivered with a friendly smile. The food was outstanding, a wide variety of delicious options, all of excellent quality. Given the size of our group, we opted for a buffet-style setup, which worked perfectly. The staff ensured the buffet was consistently replenished and that everyone was well looked after. I would highly recommend the Biltmore Bar & Grill for future events. Unfortunately service absolutely terrible, the waitress seemed annoyed that we had turned up to her empty resturant (we should have taken that as a warning sign) didn't even smile and was quite moody and the manager was arrogant. The food was also absolutely shocking! Salad was dry, no seasoning offered and no dressing on the salad. I went to go get salt I had found (as we weren't offered any) and it was stuck to the dirty table. The drinks ordered were absolutely disgusting honestly would not even try again. You shouldn't offer cocktails if you dont have someone who can make them. Do not go if you want decent food, nicely made cocktails and a good atmosphere.

My friends and I had drinks here a few weeks ago and the service along with the drinks were fantastic. The brown haired guy who took our glasses was very friendly and helpful !

Dropped in for dinner on a Thursday night and we were some of the only people there. Pleasant staff and better than average service made for a nice evening. Food was better than average pub food, nice small menu helping to keep it simple but with a good selection to choose from. Drinks menu is out of this world, more cocktails and other drinks than you can begin to imagine along with good beers on tap. Definitely the place to come for drinks. Disappointed we couldn't use a tastecard as we hadn't booked in advance (as per the conditions) but you feel a bit silly asking to book when there is no one else in the place so their rigid adherence to this was a shame and cost a star on the review.

We booked a table for my wife's birthday but on arrival there was only one other couple in there. Person taking our order and serving was very good. Ensured we had drinks and our order was taken on time. Even gave my wife a small bottle of preseco for her birthday. Lots of food on the plate, so go hungry.. 😊👍

Food absolutely amazing and very filling (Sadly didn't get a photo 😔). Drinks were delicious aswell, great portions (Did get a photo! 😌). Our waiter was absolutely amazing and was so sweet. He kept pulling jars of Ketchup and Mayonnaise out of his pockets 😂 10/10 Would absolutely recommend.

Great looking pub with loads of real ale on. Lots of Salt Brewery and Ossett Brewery in the main. Music was very rock orientated which I thoroughly approve of. Didn't try the pizza so can't comment on the food. The only downside for me was the gentleman and girl behind the bar both looked really miserable and didn't smile at all. Maybe they had had a busy shift or something, I don't know, but they were bar far the least communicative and happy staff we saw out in York all night. The man even managed to gives us pints instead of halves, but he looked so miserable and unhelpful we didn't bother mentioning it and just drank what he gave us.

Always seems understaffed in here which for me is it's biggest let down. Always packed with a good atmosphere. If I notice when it's busy, why can't management? Pizza is good, really good and there's a decent selection of beers. The pizza selection varies from quite different concepts such as green Thai chicken to boar chorizo and buratta (pictured) to more traditional ones. They were all really good and the sides are simple but done well. Annoyingly there's a York tax to pay. The Osset Brewery lagers see a surcharge compared to my local. I know it sounds petty but I really think as a country we normalise paying more because it's in a city due to supply and demand and because "it's a city" but the supply of customers is more than it is in my local so surely my local should charge more because they don't sell as much? I'm being picky, it's a pet peve but I have to call it when I see it. Hell Rat is a blooming good drop too

Went on a Friday night to see the live music, the band was great and created a really lively atmosphere. Had the pizzas too and they were delicious and really fresh, you could see them being made. Bar staff were quick and helpful during a busy shift. Overall a great spot!

Best pizza I’ve had in the UK - no contest. We had the Espanola (Chorizo & Manchego) and the pepperoni, both excellent. Large tap selection. Only wish we had been there on a night with live music.

Walking round York and looking for somewhere to get food and saw the reviews of this place. The man serving was really nice and friendly. However, the food was pretty average. I had the beef burger and chips. The patty was clearly frozen. Very 'cardboardy' and not tasty. Been years since I've had a burger this bad I'm afraid. My wife had the halloumi vegetable sandwich. The halloumi was cooked nicely and there was a few pieces of cooked courgette and a few pieces of pepper that was cut big and chunky (which doesn't really work in a sandwich!) And the bread was standard supermarket cheap thin sliced bread. I've never seen a sandwich in a cafe or restaurant served on supermarket sliced bread! On the plus side, the chips that came with both meals were nice. And my latte was also nice. Unfortunately we paid more than average for below average food! This might be a nice place for a drink in the evening but I couldn't recommend it for the food.

Called here for a drink as had been told of the roof top seating area. It was nice. I wasn’t blown away as it though as could have done with a clean/ spruce up! You could see the Minster over the wall. Bar staff very friendly. Overall nice to sit out and up.

Great spot, open mic night is especially good. Chilled crowd and amazing staff. Place was hopping and one bar staff on their own excelled in circumstances where I have seen a crew of several fail. If downstairs seems jammed, push on through to upstairs. Plenty of seating and you come still hear the music, maybe even better!

Love coming here on a sunny day in their sun trap terrace. Been a while since we've been and noticed the view of the minster is slightly covered by a new structure but still a fabulous place to enjoy a beer in York! Friendly staff and great selection of drinks. Need to come back and try the food.

Always love the habit! Brilliant pub with a great atmosphere, staff are brill and i appreciate having somewhere to get a coffee later in the day. Only docked 1 star 🌟 to mention that they need to get fans in here for the staff. Was absolutely roasting yesterday and I couldn't believe there was nothing to help the staff keep cool, reflects badly on owners when they don't take more care of staff in simple ways like this. I've worked in the industry for 15yrs and just wanted to go behind the bar and help them, was pretty busy with the warm weather and the poor lass looked sweltered!

One of the best bars/pubs in York! I was only in town for a night, and this place made it unforgettable. The live music and karaoke brought such a fun vibe, and the beer and food options were super affordable. Great spot for a fun night out if you’re in the area!

So many classic pubs in York, this is up there amongst the best with its incredible location adjacent to the city walls. An ever changing choice of well kept, cask ales - there should be something to cover all tastes.

Very good York pub. Five cask beers on handpump when I visited including a stout. A few tables outside in the garden to the rear. Very friendly and helpful staff. Pork pies are the only food offering.

A fantastic little pub with an amazing atmosphere. The pub does not serve meals, but has a great selection of great bar snacks. This is a lively pub and a great spot to grab a drink before attending an event at the Barbican.

Lovely place. I thought I am lucky to find this pub. There are not many place to play live music on Monday, but here it is!! Beer and pie was fine, Jazz live music was insane. It’s good place to make a memorable night. Staffs were lovely. Should’ve been known to many people.

Popped in here while I was waiting to catch the ghost bus tour. I noticed they had a beer from the titanic brewery that I hadn’t tried before, which was a cherry porter, and this is now my new favourite, having enjoyed the plum porter for many years, this addition was really enjoyable, in a really nice location with a great atmosphere and good service.

Phenomenal real ale station pub with 18+ real ales, with Timothy Taylor's range being permanently on. A wide range of regional beers available in excellent condition. Staff attentive and welcoming adding to a wonderful Edwardian building. Worth calling in for a few hours or a drink before or after your train arrives. Cannot fault this place.

Been twice in 2015 and 2025. taproom extraordinaire and stationside patio! Great selection for of cask drawn ales to die for 😍 and definitely grab a pork pie either to enjoy with your pint pr while you walk to the Minster 😉. Had a few full pints earlier then a few half pints to try them all.

Stopped by while staying in York because it was near the railway museum, wasn't expecting much but I ended up staying for a while because the cask ale selection is great, probably the best of any pub I visited during a week in North England! It's inside the station so you can watch the trains go by.

Been here several times and have never been disappointed. Latest visit was a Sunday evening for a family celebration. The place has a lovely interior and has views to the river and park and there's a great outside terrace overlooking the river. The menu is varied and has some really interesting dishes. Everything we ate was delicious and the venison was outstanding. Prices aren't cheap but good value for the quality/location. Highly recommended

Wow. This was our first visit and won't be our last! The restaurant is beautiful, the staff are amazing and the food was perfect. We visited as two adults and two kids and the staff were fantastic with the kids, making them laugh and including them in the ordering process. The portions were extremely generous and every bring was fresh, hot and full of flavour. There honestly isn't a bad thing to say about this place, even the toilets are pretty!!

We have been waiting for a long time to have a meal at The Star sinn The City, so excited, but we did a high expectation, and end up with disappointment. The food is very average not impressive or very tasty. The porter is more like small but OK. The service is very very slow. Be honest, we don’t like the service but they still put 20% service charge on the bill, can’t believe it. There are so many restaurants in York, and this is the one I will not go back again. The price is expensive, I think we paid for Michelin not the experience. Really disappointed.

Called in for a coffee stop down by the river. It was so nice we went back later for Sunday Roast. The best roast dinner I've had. Absolutely delicious, but of course we are in Yorkshire.

Been here so many times over the years and never been disappointed! Had the yorkie pud starter and ox cheek main… both amazing. Honestly most amazing thing about this place is the service. It’s clear the management really care about good customer service as nothing is ever too big of an ask for any service staff. This time we had Lumi and she was no different, amazing service and went completely out of her way to make sure our drinks and food were exactly how we liked.

I read the reviews and thought we would give it a go as we were in York for a short break. Saturday lunchtime at 1pm in early November, it wasn't very busy. Service good and in good time so nothing to complain about there. Food was good, not amazing and for the price I was certainly expecting better. I had the burger which was on the specials, nice burger but I would expect for the price home made chips not the French fries served up.

Very nice restaurant. First time here, came for breakfast. Service was very good. Friendly waiting staff. Would highly recommend breakfast bap with sausage egg and bacon (see photo) or the vegi full breakfast. Fairly reasonably priced as well.if I could give food 4.5 stars I would.

Lovely little pub, this is supposedly one of the most haunted pubs in york and I can totally see why. The feel of the pub was very spooky! The staff at the pub were very polite and friendly. Me and my partner both ordered a burger and chips, served relatively fast and the food was lovely. Only con to the pub was it was really busy! Overall lovely experience

This place is amazing, We stayed in the Shambles room it was beautiful, the bathroom was huge. I booked without knowing it is known as the most haunted hotel. We did not see or hear anything, but we did feel a little something. We had drinks in the bar, the live entertainment was great. Breakfast was wonderful.

Very poor service today! Ordered drinks which took ages, it was 12 o’clock so not busy! Wine was warm as not been in fridge! I was told it was though! Then ordered food at same time and after waiting an hour I ask 3 members of staff what’s happening with food! No one came back to me to let me know so I asked again and 4 tables had been served in front of us!!! They basically had forgotten our order which happens but instead of just apologising they argued with me! Terrible service and no ones seems to be in charge or bothered! A word of advice to a very badly run pub! Sort your staff out of loose business! It’s not difficult is it to get the orders from the bar to the kitchen!! I went elsewhere after a full refund and had a lovely meal in under 20 minutes

Didn't stay, only had food & drink. Very nice atmospheric, archaic & somewhat gothic aura about it. Service was good albeit somewhat late when delivering the food but food & drink well priced & delicious. Either fortunately or unfortunately I didn't see or meet any of the other worldly inhabitants of the pub/ Inn. Overall a good experience. Would recommend dropping in & grabbing a bite & a Drink at least.

Had to have a nosey in the most haunted pub. Went midweek lunch time and it was packed out. Managed to get a table. Ordered two sandwiches that come with chips. They took a looong time to come coz it was so busy. But they were delicious when they did. And quite a size. Filled us up for the afternoon and beyond.

The rooms were great. Quirky, clean and well decorated. Big fluffy white towels, tea and coffee. The kitchen and bar unfortunately were closed for our one night stay but it was the accommodation I went to see. We will be back without fail as the bar and beer garden looks great and with entertainment every night what's not to like. Well done to all the staff who made our stay great. Thank you.

Lovely old characterful pub. Went in for early dinner but was still really busy! Lucky to get a table. Reasonable priced pub food was very good. Decent range of ales/drinks. Service just OK. The table we sat at had not been cleared and didn't get cleared the entire time we were there so we sat with the previous people's used glasses. Would recommend though as a lovely pub to visit.

Lovely a cozy pub inside and outside. We had the food and the steak pie was amazing. We stayed for the life music and the atmosphere was really good and the guy working at the front door (Matthew) is definitely the best promoter to bring people in the pub. Hopefully people behind the bar can learn from him as they were a bit moody. Overall great pub and definitely when we are back in York we would come back here.

Perfect. Honestly, The Old White Swan exceeded my expectations in a number of ways. We went for the Sunday roast but I would have loved staying longer than we did. A lovely duo started playing music just as we finished. The food, service and atmosphere were all exceptional. The only bad part was we waited till our last day in York to visit OWS!! I think my favorite thing was the decor and interior atmosphere of the dining room, the bar area and the lovely covered outdoor area which were all nicely done and inviting.

Went for lunch with our dog and sat inside. What a beautiful old pub. Very atmospheric. Really friendly staff and the food was delicious. The lunch sandwiches come with chips or salad.

Lera was my mother and I’s server and let me just tell you- she was the cherry on top to our whole experience! I think we struck gold with her because she made sure we were taken care of the entire time. The Chicken burger was amazing, as well as the sticky toffee pudding. Super rich in taste but super worth it. Anyways- give this place a go!

Lovely historic pub, dog-friendly, great roast beef for Sunday lunch under the canopy in the courtyard, excellent range of beers on tap. Highly recommended!

Pavement Vaults is a modern style bar with a contemporary feel. There is a wide selection of beers, lager and cider, including five hand-pulled cask conditioned real ales. The ones I sample were in excellent condition, and there was a good choice of craft beers when i called in. It was very busy when I visited, but there is extra seating in the basement. I haven't tried the food, but the menu was good, and the dishes coming out of the kitchen looked very tempting. The staff are very friendly and it's a great bar for beer lovers.

The baby ribs are good but the taste is overwhelming. Id say they were a bit dry and the sauce overpowered the meat, which was not juicy. The service us great, the place is clean and the staff is very friendly

Visited at opening time on a Sunday so we were first in. Good selection of beer s . It a great place to watch the world go by as it is very central. Only complaint no toilet paper in any of the ladies toilets

Good location with friendly, accommodating staff. We stayed one night, which was enough. Unfortunately the room wasn't for us. It was boiling hot when we checked in, as both radiators were on full blast eventhough it was 18°C and sunny outside. Despite turning off the radiators and opening the window, the room stayed hot, so we were very grateful that there was a fan in the room. Despite this, we both had a terrible nights sleep. The bed was awful (Room 6). The mattress and bed frame need replacing, especially for the price you pay. Every time someone moved slightly, the bed creaked very loudly and wobbled. The paintwork was of a poor finish in places, especially on the window sills and all the plug sockets were hidden behind furniture, so using appliances was a bit challenging, too. Didn't really meet our expectations which is a shame.

Had a quick drink in the secret garden. Service a little slow and not the cleanest table, even when we asked for it to be cleaned. The waitress just used serviettes. Would go again as nice location and good atmosphere.

A quirky four hundred year old hotel, artistically decorated and furnished. The stairs to the attic room are exceedingly steep but , once there, a luxurious bed awaits in a characterful room. Breakfast service staff, in particular, met all our needs in an exceptional way.

Visited the restaurant on a rainy day recently - they had some room in the bar for us which was lovely and warm. I got the pork roast which was delicious and filling. My partner had the burger which he really enjoyed. Worth a visit for a meal!

Had an amazing Sunday roast here. Staff were attentive and service speedy. Food delicious. Good wine selection. Toilets clean and cosy. The music was just perfect. Portions a good size. They had an entire roast dinner still available when I arrived at 7.35 and pudding too. Can't fault it!

Really ambient dining room, food was delicious and service very professional yet friendly. So accommodating. Confit duck leg was to die for, partner had chicken burger which was juicy and flavourful. Had a voucher from work, but will definitely return in the future to sample more of the menu!

We stayed at The Fat Badger in September and absolutely loved out night in York. Such a beautiful city and the hotel is right in the heart of it all. The bar downstairs is very cool and the room had such character to it. The staff were friendly. Thank you!

Wanted to say a huge thank you to the team who made our retirement celebrations go with a bang. Fantastic bar in a great location. Always dog friendly. Kids welcome before 9pm. Serving a great selection of craft beers, sours, and more. Pizza and hotdogs are great! Wheelchair accessible (the main door has two steps but a little further down is a level entrance). Some of the seating areas have a couple steps but there is seating on the main level. Great staff, super helpful and I love that you’re encouraged to have a taster before you decide what to order.

I was in BrewDog York this afternoon. The beer I tasted first time and it’s amazing. Two vegan pizzas were delicious (a little bit burnt but still delicious) The guys were very helpful, it was absolutely fantastic time. A big thank you.

We did the ale/beer school and it was brilliant. Beers were matched with an amazing selection of cheeses. Our ‘teacher’ - whose name I’ve unfortunately forgotten (clearly too much ale!!) was friendly and knowledgeable and the whole experience was great fun.

Came for a meal and a drink. Nice place right in the centre of York. Service was ok.Good choice of drinks but the lager I ordered didn't taste great. We ordered food which took far too long to arrive and to be fair, 10 chips with my fish and chips was not good considering how much it cost.

My flat (flat 16) have come every single Tuesday night, since we arrived at uni this year, for the pub quiz. It is genuinely the highlight of all our weeks as we absolutely adore it and have such a brilliant time. Shoutout to Sam (quizmaster) for brightening every Tuesday - we love you!!

Nothing to fault, seems small but then plenty of seating upstairs. We ordered a couple of drinks and food. Staff friendly and helpful, found a seat even though quite busy, order at the bar. We had a spiced Veg pie and steak n ale pie bothered were more like a roast, plenty of veg (parsnip, beans, kale, carrot, leek) The chips were more like coast potato strips. The meal was lovely and reasonably priced. Definitely recommend.

The Duke of York was really great. The chaps taking our orders and serving us could not of been more attentive and friendly. Finding a place to eat with a wheelchair user and a dog is never easy but we felt very welcomed. The food was delicious as was the wine. Faultless experience thank you Duke of York

A good pub that serves a spread of interesting real ales which they allow you to taste before you buy. Always a good sign from a pub. Couldn't comment on the food as we did not eat there. Atmosphere was good with customers attracted from various parts of the country. Well worth a visit.

Ahhhh .. what a shame, we had high hopes, unfortunately we didn’t like the food at all. First of all, this isn’t southern american food - trust me! We opted for classic Mac&Cheese (also the mega one with bacon). Eventhough M&C is a very easy dish, they kinda messed it up. It didn’t taste like M&C at all, no sauce - it seems like they only heated up pre-cooked (unsalted) pasta, put a bit of flour in & some cheddar cheese on top. It was probably the worst M&C I ever had in the UK, writing this breaks my heart. We then opted for a s’mores waffle, jap a waffle.. And that’s actually the main reason why the dish was absolutely messy. It was way to sweet as someone poured a jar of Nutella over (nope not Hershey’s & obviously no graham crackers - due to the waffle option). I don’t wanna go into more detail, it just wasn’t american or tasty. Atmosphere wise, they have a huge bar, music is nice, however we had a small table right next to the toilet & I had a door (which separated the restaurant with an extension) right in my back - and I am not a big person, so anyone taller or bigger then me would have been even more uncomfortable. As we pre-booked, we asked for another table, unfortunately this wasn’t possible, there had been plenty of space in the back.. Cannot recommend at all, also very overpriced!

Me and my wife visited here today for the first time ever as we went to York traveling from Durham for the day. We came by the restaurant and thought we would give it a try as the storefront looked appealing and I had saw a few reviews online with mostly positive but a few mixed For drinks, I got a banana and peanut butter milkshake, which was mainly banana and peanut butter topping (I would have liked it mixed in more together or more peanut butter) and my wife got a peach iced tea. For mains, I got the Fancy Hanks burger w/ fries and slaw and my wife got mac & cheese w/ a side of fries. For me, the fries were very salty and I think if they had less salt on them, they would’ve been delicious as they were quite crunchy. The burger patties were cooked really nicely, but unfortunately didn’t taste as if they had any sauce so it tasted a little bit disappointing. My wife stated that the mac & cheese was nice but needed longer to be cooked to be a little extra crispy. She gave it a 6/10. Overall, the place isn’t very big but they do have ample seating for I would say up to a party size of maybe 10 maximum. Unfortunately, I would give this a 2.5/5 ⭐️. It is not a bad restaurant at all, but for me, it was the middle of the road and there is better food places.

First time to York and just picked one over 4 stars restaurant from google maps. Best location in the core of the core old city center of York. Super nice vibe inside / outside. And nice music. I would say it’s really a big portion for me couldnt even finish. They have some magic while they cook the chicken. Unlike a normal American cuisine, they have really good chicken fillet, really juicy blended with nice spice. This was super tasty. And don’t forget to get a bottle of bar 😉

Amazing scran! Me and my partner visited on a Saturday evening and thoroughly enjoyed every on our plates. I had the Beefy Boy burger. It had delightful slices of brisket and a nice soft bun. The patties were thick and seasoned well. They did dry out a bit come the last few bites. A top tier burger though! The fries were really tasty. They looked pale but had a little bit of crisp to them and were also well seasoned. My partner had the chicken tenders and they were also excellent. Very good portion of juicy chicken strips with nice crispy coating. The gravy was delicious as well. One small downside was that the Happy Hour offer only included house spirits but that wasn't communicated until we went to order. Overall it was a fantastic experience with great service. Food was decent value but drinks a bit overpriced. Somewhere I'd highly recommend.

We went on taco Tuesday, and was excited to try the specials. The 2 for £12 frozen margaritas looked fun with their sherbet and lollipop topping but tasted so disappointing. Very little flavour, and I would frankly have been amazed if there was any tequila in there at all. I was already feeling like I’d been conned at this point but it would get worse. When our tacos turned up I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. I chose beef, pork and sweet potato, and when I say each taco had a tablespoon of each filling at best, I am not exaggerating (see the photo and judge for yourself). I know tacos aren’t supposed to be a hearty meal, but I’ve eaten plenty in my time and have NEVER seen a meaner or more pathetic looking taco in my life. When I folded them to eat they were almost flat. They were £3.50 each. Other people in our party had ordered chicken and fries from the main menu which were decent/normal portion sizes. I complained to our waitress about the tiny tacos and she admitted that they were small and she didn’t recommend people order them without getting sides. To her credit she took them off the bill but it didn’t do much to restore goodwill after a truly disappointing meal.

Food was great, the peach tea was amazing. Their take on southern food was fun. Service was pretty slow. But otherwise we enjoyed it a lot.

This was one of my favourite bars as a student (long live the Milky Bar Kid) but this time around I was popping in to try their Crooked Slice pizza. I got a slice of Truffle Mushroom which really impressed me: sumptuous toppings on wonderfully soft sourdough.

Huge cocktail menu (including 2-4-1 nights) and the pizza is insannneeeee😍 tunes often banging. Love it here and come often.

This place is a hidden little gem! After a disappointing entry refusal due to having a pram from the eatery next door, dusk welcomed us with open arms to their spacious venue. The staff were SOOO friendly and catered for the children in our party ranging from 3-9 years. It was spacious and welcoming. The drinks were insanely cheap but good quality and the food was SCRUMPTIOUS. we had the sharing platter and I couldn't recommend it more!! Excellent quality for money! It was a lovely place to catch your breath, have a rest and some yummy food during a busy Saturday outing in York. I know where we will be eating during every visit from now on!

A very well presented bar with a good range of beer, mainly Thornbridge if you hadn't guessed.

Very good pub about fifteen minutes walk from York Railway Station. Eight cask beers on handpump when I visited including two porters. This modern pub which is operated by Thornbridge and Pivovar is on three levels with the glass walled 'cellar' on the top floor. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Called in here several times when we have stayed in York and never been disappointed. There is always a good selection of interesting beers available and the staff have been very welcoming. It's over three floors with the upper floors having a great view over the Shambles Market.

Great pub and brewery, made our way upto the 3rd floor to enjoy the view with a couple of beers and a pizza....beer and food were excellent.

Popped in for a quick beer and ended up having a pizza because they are so Bloody gorgeous, freshly baked on the second floor it arrived hot,soft and tasty. Also had another beer as we were sat in a booth and it was cosy.

Happened upon this marvellously oldie, worldview pub after our shopping experience. We were impressed the range of draft beers/ciders and the non alcoholic beers. We were transported back to another era with it's brass work wood panel and wall mirrors. All of which were cleaned and polished, within an inch of it's life. The clientele were mainly men but as two women on their own we felt very much at ease. The lighting was very atmospheric which was enhanced once dusk hand falle

Called in for coffee and a light lunch. Good coffee and tasty toastie. They do take aways who seem to get priority so sit ins have to wait a little

We went to Free Range's pop-up at North South last night, we ended up going through the card and it was all some of the best food we've had for a long time. Along with North South's drinks list and usual friendly welcome it was a great night. To be repeated as soon as possible.

Popped in with my toddler and dogs after a visit to York A&E and this place was amazing. Instantly made us feel at home, the coffee was just amazing and the staff were lovely. Highly recommend trying it out!

I thought that I would try somewhere different today so popped into North South which is just along Bootham. It was a new one for me but it looked warm and inviting. There is pavement seating at the front but I opted for indoors and chose a cosy seat by a low table just in front of the counter. The lighting is quite low and there’s a very welcoming atmosphere. I was a solo coffee drinker but felt very comfortable; it wasn’t a problem even though they were quite busy. I didn’t really look at the menu as I only wanted a coffee, but had seen some yummy options on the board outside and everything on the counter looked good. My americano with oat milk was just £3 which I thought was good value. There was a steady stream of new customers arriving whilst I was there so it is clearly very popular. Customers were across the age range and included families with youngish children and dog owners. As I paid I was able to pick up a free map of all the local independent businesses which I thought was a lovely opportunity to support other local businesses. I don’t often venture down Bootham when I visit York but I would definitely go to North South again.

Delightful little place with some amazing cocktails one the menu, great references! We needed somewhere near the theatre and had the recommended, did not disappoint. Staff were really friendly. There is a outdoor steaing area but do note that it is on the main road.

The Kings Arms is a sam smiths pub, so there is the usual range of Sam Smith's beers. The Old Brewery bitter is not on hand pumps due to the cellar being above the bar. The beers and lagers are very good, and Sam Smiths is some of the cheapest beer in York. The bar is very spartan due due to regular flooding. There is a board on the wall showing how high the water gets. Like all Sam Smith's pubs, mobile phones, laptops, and dogs are banned. There is no music TVs or bar games.

To be honest we only waited for the ghost walk to start. There are no nonalcoholic beers available. The nonalcoholic options are soft drinks. The view is nice. Sometimes the pub gets flooded. Not just with people on a sunny day how are enjoying the weather, but also from the river Ouse, when the weather is not that friendly.

My wife and I had a pint at The Kings Arms before our ghost tour in York. The barman/owner has a strict "no electronics" policy and enforces it. That's fine, it's a pub and you're supposed to talk to people and not simply look at your phone.

Think this maybe out favourite pub in York. From the good range if drinks to sitting outside by the river,there's nothing to fault about this place.

Had a couple of drinks here. No technology rule. Cool.Didn't have any lager left.. Had a nice wheat beer. Missus a cider. Basic inside as it's prone to flooding. Toilets minging.

GREAT prices for an ok pint. Lovely staff, but dislike you having your phone out (I was forced to speak to my husband), or queuing the wrong way! Lovely location, but the toilets are in need to some work. The ladies looked as though someone has put their foot through the cubicle wall🥲 £5 something for 2 pints, so can’t complain there!

Great atmosphere, this pub supposedly is the oldest in York, older than the Old Starre Inne, but aside from that, not much else. The food was good, but they were missing way too many items on the menu and the choices unfortunately were quite limited.

Old pub with a lot of history. Came here a round 4.30 on a Saturday and already half the menu was sold out. Order the curry of the week which was minced beef similar to what you would get with a cottage pie with curry powder mixed in (not a curry) chicken and ham pie was very dry. Large Yorkshire pizza tasted like dolmio pasta sauce spread on then topped with cheese, also the Yorkshire’s were too uniform to be homemade probably frozen aunt bestie’s. Wouldn’t recommend eating here.

Fabulous Pub. Recommended to us by another Pub owner because it is still a good English Pub with non-chain good food. Lovely chat with the chef who is also a history buff. Old Peculier on tap. Great Steak and Ale pie. I mean really great.

Loved this gorgeous old pub. My fella went there 20 years ago and he recommended, lovely pub grub with lovely service. The pub itself is amazing, proper old pub feel. I will defo revisit when I come back to York.

Discovered this place whilst staying in York recently. We had to pass by the place on our way into town to and from our hotel. It was a 15th century house and became a pub some years later. It has lots of character, good food (home cooked and reasonably priced for large portions!) with friendly staff. We also got chatting to other customers when we visited too. We'll definitely be going back there when we next visit York.

Reputedly the oldest pub building in York dating from 1417. As you’d expect it’s an incredible building all nooks and twisty staircases, apparently with three ghosts, thankfully none of whom were around on our visit. There’s a good selection of ales, the Rudgate’s Jorvik I has was exceptionally good. Our food was all home made, very tasty and there were generous portions for reasonable prices. The service was friendly and efficient. We really enjoyed our visit and would recommend it for anyone visiting York for food and/or drinks.

Best bagel I've ever had and wonderful little venue! Definitely a better alternative to the more popular cafe down the road, we couldn't understand why people would queue for so long there when the food here was delicious.

Really lovely local cafe/bar. We went in the evening when the menu is pizzas. The food came really quickly and the menu was simple but thought out. The dough was amazing and not chewy or over cooked. The only criticism was that it was a bit too much cheese which fell off when you picked it up and tasted more like a cheddar than mozzarella. However the flavour was bang on. Great selection of beers that were really well kept. The biggest bonus is that the price was very reasonable.

LOVE coming here. Atmosphere is always cosy but vibrant. They constantly do jazz nights and food night. I came today (Monday evening) and it was a bit quieter but it was still a lovely atmosphere. The team are friendly, i just love visiting.

Very popular place but not sure why based on our recent visit, maybe we were just unlucky. The beer was warm (as in room temperature), and all of our pizzas were wet and uncooked in the middle. Wine seems on the expensive side as well

I visited this place a while ago with my partner and we had a great time back then because of the live jazz music and nice atmosphere. We recently went back again and this time we tried a couple of sides and a pizza and it was a pleasant surprise. The starters were very nicely seasoned and cooked, it was delicious but the pizza could have been a bit better it was too salty. The atmosphere was the same nice as before. But the most important thing is that the staff was friendly and provided very good service. We definitely will come back another time. I also added our recent breakfasts too. It was soooo good. 🙂

Food was nice - I enjoyed the fried eggs on sourdough, the sourdough was very authentic. Reasonably priced as well. Disappointing that there was no full English for my boyfriend, and the staff weren't bothered to offer to make him his own plate - they didn't even ask. Alterations would've gone a long way. My cup of tea took absolutely ages to come out. Certain members of staff were lovely and friendly, others just couldn't be bothered. Atmosphere and decor was lovely though.

The Ivy in York is one of those places I have admired from afar, yet when a very special occasion came around, this was the place to go. From the very start, the service was excellent, helpful, courteous and friendly. The staff were immaculately turned out and nothing was too much trouble. The decor is fabulous (including the loos!) and the menu is mouthwatering. Having a gluten intolerance was not a problem and the staff were able to help with the menu choices. The food was brought quickly and it was delicious. I also had two mocktails which were fab. The crockery was beautiful and I loved the silverware. The Ivy is truly a dining experience, so it's more than 'a meal'. A lovely, very special and rare treat.

One of the best afternoon teas I've had. It is next to Betty's tea rooms. The lady who greeted us in The Ivy was very welcoming. She took our bags and our coats to keep in the cloakroom and gave us a ticket to get them back when we left. We were shown to our table and given some time to look at the menu. We decided to upgrade to the champagne afternoon tea which was £45 each which we thought was really good value. The waitress came and took our order and was very happy to swap one of the sandwiches as neither of us like egg. She brought our champagne and the tea we'd chosen and the food came shortly after. It was delish. We had three sandwiches each, a chocolate bomb, a muffin, a scone with cream and jam and then a mini crème brulé. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The atmosphere was very chilled out, the food was gorgeous and the staff were delightful. Even the bathrooms were pretty. I will definitely go again when I next visit York xxx

Great treat as ever however it does seem to lack the ‘wow’ factor that other Ivy restaurants have. Service was perfect and they’d also noted our celebration taking place - free profiteroles! Food was tasty and well presented. There seems to have been a bit of confusion over our points being added to our rewards account though. They’d deducted my rewards cash as I requested but then no points added for the balance. Not sure if it’s how the system works but I’ve enquired via the app and my recipes isn’t valid. Enquiries ongoing..

What a lovely experience this was! The Ivy lived up to my expectations in every way, from the stage who looked very smart, and we're unfailingly friendly and helpful. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was great. A pleasant surprise was that it cost less for a comparable meal than it had the day before at one of the small eateries where we ended up in a tent out the back. They even provided me with a complimentary latte. Highly recommended and we will be back 😁

Visited Thursday evening, heard great feedback on this restaurant so thought worth a try whilst in York at the races. Had reserved in advance and was really excited about this evening but maybe too much! There was no warm welcome or offer to take our coats. Table was ready & clean on the long sofa infront of the bar. Ordered duck pate & bruschetta which was very quick to arrive but bread was not crispy bruschetta it was regular square slice of thick sliced loaf toasted & cut into two triangles wrapped in a napkin. We were hungry so we ate it or half slice of toast for me, pate portion was quite generous and VERY filling perhaps next time one portion could be shared between two. Unfortunately my breadcrumbed chicken main was very dry and not much flavour so I only ate about third and left it. My partner he enjoyed his peppercorn steak. Bottle of Wine was lovely but not left at your table so we waited a few times for a top up. Bill was £112 which included discretionary service charge which i asked for it to be removed & tipped the waitress ourselves. All in all left feeling very underwhelmed our special treat wasn't really all that special after all will try Miller & Carter again when we return to race day.

Excellent. When can we go again? The staff were so friendly and helpful. We hadn't pre-booked but they found us a table in 40 minutes. The waiters were attentive and professional. The food was excellent and, for the quality of this establishment, it was very reasonably priced. A thing I always dislike is when the bill comes with a discretionary service charge included. This came with 12% but I didn't mind. The waiters and all the staff definitely deserved it!

Lovely birthday brunch at the Ivy today. Right from entering the restaurant we felt welcomed. Service was excellent and the food delicious. They even gave me a complimentary birthday dessert with candle. Lovely experience in this stylish york restaurant.

Went for Sunday lunch. Started with a delicious special of asparagus risotto, then had a mixed beef and pork roast dinner. Lovely tender meat with great crackling and Yorkshire pudding and home made gravy. Up until now would have said that Roast, on borough market was the best roast dinner out but this topped it! Great service too.

My family an I visited for the first time in Sunday for a roast. The food was lovely, couldn't give a five star as the roasted parsnips and carrots were tuff to cut and chewy. But don't let that stop you going, the flavours are fantastic, meat is superb and very good and attentive service. We will definitely be back!

Our food was delicious! We had the Sunday pork roast including Yorkshire pudding (2 course special) with an entree (shared) and a dessert (shared). The staff were super friendly and very helpful. Thank you to Oliver in the bar for his suggestions and wonderful friendly service.

My husband and I visited the Chopping Block for our wedding anniversary having never been before (but had heard good things) and we were so happy with the evening. The food was sublime, portion size perfect, and so reasonably priced. Impressive wine list (again, reasonably priced for the standard) and the staff were incredibly friendly. Great plus that the building is a fabulous historical tardis! Really enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back.

Wonderful food, full of flavour and presented without gimmicks. Prompt, polite service in a charming rustic building with nods to the historic past. Lively selection of ales too! A little piece of France in the centre of York. Superb !

Warm and welcoming reception on a rainy afternoon. My husband and I both had the Sunday lunch(chicken), which was presented lovely and tasted delicious. We both had the garlic mushrooms to start, which were also delicious. My husband managed a sticky toffee pudding to finish. The rose blush wine was very nice and my husband, who isn’t an ale drinker, was offered a lager to try, which he said was spot on! We will most definitely be returning.

I love the concept of a changing theme but the food i found to be quite pricey for the size. Creme brulee was so tasty howeverthe Poulet was very sweet for a main dish. Not a lot of atmosphere, took a while for staff to turn the music on so it was rather awkward at first for the 4 patrons. Wine is really tasty. Took a while to get seated and to get someone to the table initially.

We popped in quickly for dessert, and went for the sticky toffee pudding, as delicious - very moist and flavourful, the raisins were a nice surprise, they went well with the pudding. Only thing is it was served with custard, instead of the ice cream that is usually served with it - made everything slightly too sticky and wet. But still good! Came quickly too.

Went for Dinner on a Monday night. Not many other customers so bit hesitant to order. Anyway did and food was hot and very tasty. I had the flat iron steak, cooked perfectly, hubby had Cheese & Bacon Burger. Staff really friendly. would defo return

Quite a large place inside, very busy when I arrived. Usual tap beers with real ales and craft beers available. Staff were friendly and polite. My kind of pub. Toilets are on ground level. Beer was good. Enjoyed my visit.

After a walking tour around York we popped in for a warm and a nice meal in a place that was dog friendly. We found everything we were after. It was a busy half term Thutsday but the staff were very jolly and accommodating, sorting a table for our group and going out of their way to give us a great experience. Lucy in particular was fabulous but the other staff were equally as good. Would certainly recommend.

A quick pit stop for light lunch took us to the Golden Lion. Service was excellent and we had delicious food. Good atmosphere for a Friday lunch time. Definitely worth a visit if you're in that area of York.

It's a traditional pub. The food is very good, there are various beers. You place the order from the beginning and pay for it. They bring it when the food is ready. The atmosphere is nice, the toilets are clean. It is a place preferred by the local people. There is very little noise, but it is not negative.

My friend and I were staying in York for a few nights and visited the Tank & Paddle for snacks, tea and breakfast as it was handy to where we were staying. The balcony has a lovely view over the river and the pub and staff are very nice. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Came for bottomless brunch, slightly limited food options but fab option of different beers and cocktails and spirits. Drinks were not very strong alcohol with lots of mixer but still was lovely. Pizzas were spot on and fab. Staff were very attentive and no time wasted to get as many drinks as possible! Great vibes of the bar and good TVs for sport and cool atmosphere overall

Food was better than expected. The loaded fries with tater tots, highly recommend. Drinks and atmosphere were great. Nice location with some balcony's on the water.

Top class city centre pub if you want sport on TV and drink decent craft ale. The service is excellent for such a busy place and if you’re lucky enough to get a booth - you have your own dedicated TV 👍🏻

Great spot with great views of the river. Great for sports with each booth having it own tv. Had a sharing platter which I enjoyed immensely. Great staff and choice of drinks.

Came here for lunch with some work colleagues. Nice pub with lots of space, and good views of the river. Standard pub food menu where you can order from QR codes at the table, or at the bar. We went up to the bar to order, and after ordering a burger was told that they do a lunchtime deal (burger for £8 when you buy a drink). Didn't see this advertised anywhere, but was a good deal so a few of us chose burgers. The burger was perfectly acceptable, better than a standard pub burger, and had a nice flavour and texture. Came in a nice soft bun with plenty of fries. Would happily eat here again.

Wing night! Food was excellent. We had pizza, wings, and burgers (yes I know, not very English). Drinks and dinner came out from kitchen promptly and server was very courteous. Only ding we give is on atmosphere. Not the views, the location is amazing and it was great to see the river traffic. The issue was there were a group of locals, one of which was clearly over served and he was yelling at full volume across the river to his mates on the other side. This was ok for a bit, but then he got into it with a few young boys fishing below us and at some point he threw his beer at them and his glass shattered below. Management was nowhere to be found. It took the glow off an otherwise perfect evening.

O' Neill's bar is a large modern bar near the river. There is a wide range of beers lager and cider but no hand-pulled cask ales. There are no bar games, but there was a tv showing sports. There is a nice outside courtyard seating area. I haven't tried the food, so i can't comment. The staff are friendly and welcoming.

This was a fantastic pub for drinking, with an old school design echoing the atmosphere of York itself! The bar is well-presented, also continuing this with the barrels and staff were friendly. Irish cider has availability on tap which is great and I sat on leather seating, cleanliness maintained too!

Quiet mid week place for a pint and a chat. Good selection of drink and good service from staff. Large screen TV showing sport but not distracted by volume, so we could chat as a group. Music playing too was good.

The staff at this pub are amazing. Katie and Rebecca really made sure I was looked after. Great selection of drinks. Will definitely visit again, so much so that they’ll miss me!

Super nice atmosphere, friendly staff and lots of vegan options (loved the vegan apple pie). We hadn't much time because we had to go to the theatre after dinner but the girls were super kind serving us fast 🍀

We were advised that there was a 30 min wait for food. Turned up after around 35 min. Food was piping hot and delicious. Well worth the wait.

It was pleasant, although their service could have been more organized. I only had a drink, but observing many people dining suggests the food may be quite good.

Absolutely brilliant place to sit and have food if you can never make your mind up on what cuisine to get... Because you can order a little bit of everything! I think we were lucky it wasn't too busy despite being a really warm day. I'd go back to York just for SPARK alone.

Brazilian food was beautiful along with the tikka fries, cocktails and wine. Great atmosphere. A must go to, when the sun is shining.

Awesome atmosphere and busy but not too busy on a Saturday. Order and deliver to table is great too. I got cluckin oinks and the Mexican burger was delicious and filling

When my Bestfriend and Myself visited this very Modern and Trendy Bars & Eateries Complex, we were both Gobsmacked at how Lovely the Warm Welcome with a Smile and given a Free Balloon as we ventured inside. They have the most Beautiful and Colourful Gigantic Balloon on top of the Complex. The, Superb music and Entertainment to make you feel Good. Selling the best Street Food and Great Beer. Lots of Gorgeous and Stunning Balloons as Cieling Garlands and Decoration. A very Good Disco and Party Atmosphere with Balloons my Bestfriend & Myself was had. A good vibe and it's great to be able to order from so many different food outlets to one table - the website to do this is easy enough to use. It was warmer upstairs (in November) than downstairs and the pidgeons that had snuck indoors didn't bother us but might others!

every vendor here is 5/5 service and food. i have not had a single disappointing experience here. menus change constantly so some items mentioned may not be available in future. 1. clucking oinks does the best buffalo chicken burger, and i’ve had a few of the monthly specials and they’re always so packed full of chicken and never disappoint! 2. kamakiri ramen does a delicious shoyu ramen, a simple broth with a hint of sesame. the noodles were firmly cooked and fresh. the chashu was genuinely some of the most flavourful pork i’ve ever had and the toppings (pickled ginger, bamboo shoots, spring onions, sesame seeds) were perfect. 3. RAD pizza does some of the tastiest pizza i’ve ever had!! the classic margarita never fails me. 4. tiro sicillian street food does delicious arancini, a small portion but the arancini is deceptively huge - definitely recommend. 5. vovo brazilian cantina, i had a massive hotdog loaded with fresh medium rare steak here. genuinely the best hotdog ever. 6. boho mixology did a banging elderflower cocktail 7. piccadilly tap iron brew beer and lemon beer are delicious and reasonably priced i am yet to try other vendors here but just know that wherever you order from expect exceptional speeds of service and delicious food every time. the atmosphere is beautiful, in the winter it’s roofed and heated and in the summer the roof is taken off so you can enjoy the sunshine. support small businesses!
