This cocktail bar should be Top 50. They make fantastic drinks and have a funny creative menu. I had the Gin Basil Smash and it was delicious. I liked it so much I came back the next day to try their gin & tonic menu. The bar itself has a chill, hipster vibe playing late 90s rap. Each cocktail is crafted with care and tastes delicious. Unpretentious and you order at the bar. If you are in the area, highly recommend to try a few of their cocktails.

Super cool bar, with super cool employees! And the cocktails they serve, are ones I have never had before. Very very tasty! And a fun gimmick is, you can ask for a Polaroid picture, wich will end up in the bar somewhere. A nice little memory :)

We went cocktail hopping on the streets of Bergen so tried numerous spots. This one emerges at the top easily. Best Old Fashioned I've had in a while. Amazing vibe, courteous staff and open until late. Go there!

A hidden gem hidden in a corner set back from the main tourist thoroughfare. Dark band ambient with a 'speak-easy' feel to it. Talented barman serves a wide range of excellent cocktails at dizzying speed (or perhaps the dizziness was caused by the cocktails themselves!). Highly recommended for a chilled drink at the end of the day.

Would have been good but the male bartender with his hair in a bun and no facial hair was an absolute douche. I asked him if there was any amber type beers and he told me to go somewhere else if I wanted "beer" whatever that means. Though they have 10 beers on tap and I was simply asking what types they are. Then he also told me I can look at the menu myself after I showed him they did indeed have an amber type beer. Thanks for the hospitality BUDDY.

Great atmosphere, really cool and chilled out. Not too loud. We had delicious G&T's. There's certainly was 'No Stress' until we had to pay, but that's Norway for you.

Eclectic cocktail bar serving fun spins on the classics. Located in downtown Bergen very close to the ward and fish market. The staff is friendly and the space has edgy cool kid vibes. The cocktails are a little bit on the sweeter side, but still delicious. Great spot to stop by for a drink or two before or after dinner.

The one and only gay bar of Bergen. Not bad. Not too pricey. The downstairs is cozy and quaint. The upstairs is mostly Latin dance tunes. Wish they did more 80s and 90s nights. All in all it’s fine. Solid 3 stars.

Whether you’re into hoppy IPAs, smooth stouts, sours, or something light and refreshing, there’s something for everyone. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, always happy to recommend something based on your taste. The vibe is relaxed, artistic, and cozy – perfect for hanging out with friends or even going solo. I was really impressed with the variety and quality of the beers. Highly recommended!

Great beer and record store, we sat outside and drank a few fantastic beers. The selection was massive and very well rounded. They are on untapped so you can figure out what they have in before you get in. Highly recommend you stop by for a pint.

The mead was superb there are three types I recommend having one of each - you maybe tipsy leaving but happy The reindeer steak was amazing, the combination of flavors were complex and well balanced. The meat was cooked to perfection and not a step more. The desert were both enjoyable

Traditional Norwegian food, with great local beers on offer too. I had the mushroom casserole as it was the only vegetarian option - nice earthy savoury flavours. The brown cheese mousse for dessert was fantastic! Everything came quickly and the service was fast - a bit too fast for me, especially given the high price, I would have liked to slow down and savour this a bit more. The restaurant is popular and very busy, but has a lively atmosphere. A tiny bit underwhelming for the price, but probably more exciting if you're a meat-eater

This was amazing food. Traditional Norwegian dishes with what felt like a modern feel. Every morsel was tasty. My husband and son had the meatballs. I had the fish pie. Very tasty. Great atmosphere in the restaurant. Casual and comfortable. Staff were friendly and entertaining ☺️ I would agree with other reviews. The value of this food for the quality was better than other restaurants we saw around.

Great value for the price. The whale steak was amazing, the lamb stew incredibly tasty. The fish soup was nice but nothing special. Everything was beautifully presented, especially the reindeer cured meat. Really pleasant service. Would come back!

Amazing Place. The Cod was outstanding! We had a little miscommunication issue on my behalf and I ordered a shrimp plate that I was allergic to, but immediately was taken care and offered options. The service was friendly the second we walked in. We felt very welcomed. Great Spot! Definitely worth a try!! If I am ever back in Bergen this will be my first place. Great Job!

Unique place run by volunteers. Lots of things going on every week, definitely worth a visit. Reccommend buying tickets in advance, it can get very crowded in more popular events.

Great place for techno parties (the Sista Cave Raves are legendary), but they usually host rock bands. Also good dancefloor on the weekends if you like pop/club music.

Restaurant was fully booked but they let us order dishes from the tasting menu at the bar. A beautiful place to "snack" before our dinner. Everything was beautifully done, made us wish we got res to try the full tasting experience but this was pretty exceptional on its own. Every staff was super knowledgeable and attentive! Got to meet chef Christopher as well, what a cool dude!

4 months later I’m leaving a review because of how memorable Lysverket was and how much I appreciate the staff and food. I severely injured a birth defected ankle hiking Trolltunga at Norway and their food made me temporarily take my mind off the pain. Our last night at Norway before returning back to United States, my partner and I decided to visit Lysverket. We had no expectations - we were just looking to do something special before our departure on a whim. Majority of the trip, I was barely able to walk around with severe pain using a rental car to minimize activity on my foot. I been to other Michelin Star restaurants, but the food at Lysverket absolutely blew the other restaurants food by a long shot. My partner and I were childishly licking our plates of food trying to ensure no one saw us just going absolutely ham on their food. While tasting their food, I was able to forget about the pain and those few minutes I was able to forget about the pain really meant everything. Four months later and my ankle is just now healing and oddly I still think about this restaraunt and the experience there. The staff were really down to earth, attentive and really took the time to talk to us and listen. They were just really chill people with immense talent. I met the chef, his cooks and staff. What ended up being a spontaneous decision on a whim to make the last night special, ended up being one of the most memorable days of vacation I’ve ever had. I left a generous tip because I appreciated them so much, but weeks later I kept looking for their bill and they never charged me. I don’t know why, maybe it’s because I was limping around and because I messed my ankle up on vacation at Norway. But I wanted to say to the people who were working that day and we met - thank you so much.

One of the highlights of the evening was learning about how they thoughtfully source their ingredients; the chefs were passionate and transparent, which added depth to the experience. While not every course hit the same high note, the warmth of the service and the genuine enthusiasm from the kitchen more than made up for it. An experience that felt both intimate and thoughtfully executed.

We had a truly wonderful dinner—the food was incredibly creative. The overall flavor profile leaned toward the sour side, but each dish had elements that either contrasted with or complemented it in really surprising and delightful ways. The only thing that felt a bit off was one of the male servers. He seemed like he might be having a rough day—he avoided eye contact and rushed through the dish explanations. We wouldn’t call it rude, but it did make us feel a bit uneasy. That said, the rest of the staff, especially the girls, were absolutely lovely. You could really feel their warmth and passion for the food in the way they presented each dish.

We came to Lysverket with great anticipation. It was my birthday, and as passionate food lovers, we were hoping for a truly special evening. Sadly, the experience fell far short of expectations, both in terms of food and service. We had made the reservation for our family, including our two young daughters. During the booking process, we specifically asked if the restaurant could accommodate children, and were assured that a menu could be adapted for them. However, while the adults were served their fourth course, our children still hadn’t received their first, a complete disregard that left us disappointed and confused. In any fine dining setting, such a lack of attention to all guests, especially children, is hard to justify. The service overall felt cold and unengaged. Our main waiter came across as indifferent, even slightly arrogant, with no real interest in making us feel welcome. The first course we were served was surprisingly poor, and unfortunately set the tone for the rest of the evening. Even the better dishes that followed were forgettable, lacking finesse, identity, or any memorable flavor profile. We did not opt for the wine pairing, but we did ask for a recommendation for the best glass of red wine by the glass, what we were served was uninspiring and did nothing to elevate the meal. The atmosphere was equally disappointing. The music was loud and intrusive, completely out of place for the type of experience Lysverket seems to be aiming for. Even the restroom was unkempt, with music blaring to the point of discomfort. In the end, what should have been a joyful birthday dinner became a disappointing memory. We genuinely wanted to love Lysverket — and gave it every chance to impress — but left feeling that the restaurant is relying too heavily on its reputation without delivering the experience to match.

The fish soup changed our lives. Thank you to Alison and company for giving us such a beautiful experience. The kitchen was very helpful with questions I had. We felt very taken care of and enjoyed our night thoroughly. ❤️

The team at Lysverket knocked it out of the park. All I will say about our meal is that I have zero criticisms and thousands of compliments. Most of all, I loved this restaurant because the humans acted like humans. No pomp or pretense. Just pure good vibes—from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. It’s the kind of thing you get when good people work incredibly hard and do it for all the right reasons. We had an amazing full Tasting menu here and impeccable service. The food is mind blowing- extremely well thought out, perfectly made and arranged. From the very start of the snacks inside of the stunning bar, to the Tasting menu inside of the beautiful dining room everything was a symphony of service and food. As it is with tasting menus it’s hard to describe it in detail. So the best way do describe it is “innovative & delicious”. Having had a good selection of dining experience like this across the world, I simply don’t understand why Bare has “only” one Michelin Star. It deserves at least two. As a side note - we had the non alcoholic drink pairing (a first for me) and I highly recommend that. It was innovative, truly matched the dishes and it was delicious!

Michelin star restaurant in Bergen. Over 10 types of foods from the bar area to the restaurant area. The decoration of their foods was amazing although each portion can be tiny. It took nearly 4 -5 hours in total to finish so we left a little bit tired. This is not just for filling stomach but rather a food show. Service is great but could be better.

We had shorter tasting menu in 07/2022, food was great and wine pairing superb, service was friendly and not too formal, they even send some Finns from kitchen to serve us some of plates. Only "downside" was, i needed to ask few times non-sparkling wines, as they forgot it, but fixed it with smile on face.

Its Michelin star is deserved. The food tasting menu is delicious and creative. The wine list is solid, somewhat overpriced. The food service is artistic, quite slow, but the wine service is chaotic and not well organized. The common impression is positive. To my mind, the restaurant is a good option of high-end cuisine in Bergen.

Great experience. All the courses we had were excellent, using primarily local main ingredients and making them shine. Also nice use of pickling and ferments. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The wine selection is broad ranging from DRC to Radikon and Mother rock.

Me and my friend had 10 courses and a bottle of wine + cocktail and we had a WONDERFUL time here! Foods were perfect! My 1st goes to Norwegian eel, then salmon nigiri, oyster, and matcha crème brûlée 🫶🏽🫶🏽 I am a very detailed person, and what I recognised here is that their service is top tier(I’ve been to too many fine dining, including Michelin star and their service is at the same level as 3 star in Paris) So, it is more than “worth the money” I’d definitely come back here again.

Wonderful old bit of history! The pubs cellar is the original from the 1300's which is well preserved. Upstairs we were greeted by a friendly publican who was happy to share some of the history of the pub and offer recommendations for a drink.

The number one best beer selection I have found on our travels. About 50 differing selections with good information displayed on each. Also fabulous staff that are very willing to help one decide on a brew. Limited outside seating but great views inside of the active street in front. This will be remembered in my fond memories of Bergen.

A great selection of beers and a friendly bartender. The venue is informal and relaxed. A good place to try out different brews without overpaying like you'd risk at a hipster bar. They also sell the unique bar name glasses for 25kr, very cool.

The only bar in this city which has a great draft beer selection! 5 stars!, must visit if you are looking for draft stout and dark beer. Prices are also considerably less than in other places . You also should try ginger with Nordic berries

Went there to try some artisan beers, and it was a really good choice! They have a selection of more than 40 different beers to suit every taste. The staff was super kind, and the atmosphere was really cozy. Definitely a great place to relax and enjoy good beer!

The place is very nice, so go here for atmosphere and not the food or service. The host asked us if we had reservations as if the restaurant is sold out for days. It was more than half empty. Anyways, it was at least 20 min before anyone greeted us and brought water. So by the time he came we had a our dinner, app and bottle of wine picked out. Asked for bread service, soup and expecting our wine to be served before dinner. After waiting a good while I called the host soup and wine, only than they brought it out. Again had to ask for dinner and than again for check. After paying upwards of $250 for 4 people I would expect little better service. I would forgive all of it if the food was good. Mediocre at best. Only go for atmosphere and have dinner somewhere else!

We had a lovely family dinner at Frescohallen and truly enjoyed every moment. The atmosphere is simply stunning. Dining under the grand frescoes is a special experience in itself. We were welcomed with excellent cocktails, followed by delicious food, beautifully presented and full of flavour. The service was impeccable: warm, attentive, and professional throughout the evening. This is a must do while in Bergen. The dining room is in a beautiful and unique space. We enjoyed several meals here including breakfast as part of our stay. The breakfast offerings are beautifully displayed, with something for everyone. I would say this is one of the best breakfasts in Norway. Food was delicious too!

The fish market and Bryggen area is a neighbor to Frescohallen. But Frescohallen is undiscovered and a hidden jet to the unknowing herds outside. They don’t know about the most beautiful space in the city, one of the best of its kinds in the world. At the Frescohallen, it’s quiet, serene, beautiful music relaxes you. The food is delicious, it’s a bit more pricey than the tourist traps outsides, but not much. I have no idea why, but we loved it! And they do have gluten free bread for me. We had the Skagen sandwich. $100 for drinks and 2 sandwiches, with a little tip. Lovely!

All of the food was excellent. We had artichoke soup, steak, and chocolate cake for dinner. Only down side was we had a long wait for dessert for no apparent reason. They were very accommodating of special dietary requests. They have the best breakfast buffet I've ever seen in a hotel. They have an expansive charcuterie selection and many gluten free pastries and 3 kinds of milk for all dietary restrictions. The frescos are beautiful.

Love this place! The service is fantastic, super friendly and helpful. We ordered the steak and the turbot and they were both delicious! The restaurant name is confusing though. I think they are in the middle of rebranding. This grand room is now part of BARE Vin og Matbar—was once the trading hall of the Bergen Stock Exchange.

Visiting this attraction was definitely an experience. Located on the outskirts of town, the setting felt a bit unusual and slightly out of place. The concept is clever, but it leans toward the cheesy side, and I had expected a bit more based on the online photos, which make it look more impressive than it actually is. Admission was around $30 per person, though I later learned that a Bergen Card offers a discount, which would’ve been nice to know beforehand. Upon arrival, they provide warm poncho-style coats and gloves, which are absolutely necessary. because you’re essentially stepping into a giant freezer. The ice sculptures are creative and change periodically,. Unfortunately, some were broken during our visit, likely due to wear and tear from guests. Adding to the disappointment, the machine that makes the signature ice glasses was out of order that night, so we missed out on that part of the experience. The bartender did mention the drinks were larger as a result, which was a small consolation. Drink options were fun, but don’t expect too much as they are on the light side. I also agree with other reviewers, in that the staff could bring more energy and enthusiasm, which would go a long way in enhancing the overall vibe. All in all, it’s a quirky stop that’s worth checking out if you’re curious, but temper your expectations.

Its a nice place. The staff are very kind too. Depending on the package you buy you may have a drink included but you can buy more. Before entry you are given a big coat and gloves, ready for the cold. The room consists of ice sculptures and walls. The drinks taste amazing too. The staff are very kind too. When we came out i went to buy a souvenir magnet, but as their card reader was down, they gave it to me for FREE! Thanks a lot for a great day out. If you like this place I would also recommend the one in Stockholm as its designs change annually.

From the outside it doesn't look like anything fancy.. but getting into the building, staff was great. Service was good. You can opt for just the welcome drink, or upgrade to the welcome drink and a drink of your choice on the menu. You are given the proper gear (heavy coat and gloves) all included in your ticket price. Once inside, it us just super. I recommend.. you can get out to warm up if u need, and then head back inside as many times as you want. Loved the experience

What a fabulous place! You're only in for half an hour. It's kept at a cool minus 5 degrees. The ice sculptures are amazing. Whem you go in you are given fleece lined heavy ponchos and gloves to wear. An alcoholic or non alcoholic drink is included. We went as part of a city tour. This was in Bergen. Worth going for the experience.

Visited as a cruise excursion so didn't have a great deal if time here. I would have stayed a lot longer, it was fantastic definitely a tick on my bucket list. The staff were fantastic and so welcoming. If you get a chance to visit not only this city but this ice bar you are very lucky indeed.

I was really excited to try the Magic Ice Bar, but unfortunately, it wasn't quite what I was expecting. The cocktails were okay, but nothing special, and there weren't as many sculptures as I had hoped. The atmosphere was definitely cool, but it was also a bit cramped and overpriced. Overall, I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for a unique and unforgettable experience.

Hidden in an alleyway off the wooden Bryggen houses, this roomy bar is quite the hidden gem. Dark couches and chairs give the room a warm glow and cozy atmosphere. The chairs and couches are large and roomy. Perfect for relaxing with your favorite whiskey or beverage of your choice. Charming space and definitely would recommend and hope to return someday.

Baklommen was our favorite bar in Bergen. It feels like it could have been a tavern 300 yrs ago. The bartender Ruben was very kind to us and took great car of us. 95% of the customers were locals but all are welcome. High recommend the Fjellbekk cocktail.

Sure, it's a unique location and the room certainly has potential, but when were there it felt a bit like we walked into somebody's private gathering instead of a welcoming pub-buzz. One had to squeeze past other's seating to get around and it all felt like the furniture was there by accident. So personally, not a fan, but for someone who wants a beer and doesn't like bars/pubs and prefers a bit of quieter mood, good choice.

- paid 310 NOK (£26) for 2 bottles of beer (average IPA), pretty certain I’ve been conned as a “tourist”, but we know how much 1 good draught beer costs here and it’s not even close to £13, let alone a bottle - “cocktail bar” on the sign, if you ask you’ll be told it’s “just a name and we don’t actually sell cocktails” - only thing on tap was a local pilsner (sh1te) - felt about as welcome as a traveller looking for a mortgage

Among the top 5 in Bergen. Built in the Hanseatic era, their floor is NOT water leveled. No pool, air hockey or building house of cards will ever be possible here. Highly recommended! Their Chesterfield furniture makes you really relax, and you won't think about leaving before the book is read. :)

We popped into this bar for some cocktails, not knowing much about gin. Our waitress, Martine, treated us to an outstanding time -- she had a passion for gin and whipped up some amazing G&Ts. If you're looking for a good drink and personable service, make Ginial a stop!

For a gin bar its pretty surprising that when i ask for a dirty martini, that during the mixing the bartender tells me they dont have olive brine.... but the dry martini i got was okay

Great selection of gins from across the world! Highly recommend if you are looking for a top notch Gin & Tonic. Fun and funky atmosphere but expect to wait for your drink. Our bartenders were not very friendly and were not around when we wanted to order a second drink.

Bartender was rude. When we're about to leave after staying for hours there, I went to the toilet. The bartender stopped me, and tell me to ask him first before going to the toilet in a condescending tone. He said I have no manner by going to the toilet myself He was nice at first when we came into the bar, but i guess when he noticed we were leaving anyway, he revealed his true self.

Very friendly bar lady, yup more types of Gin than we could count. Cozy atmosphere, its part of Royk BBQ restaurant and little surprised they didn't sell even small food dishes this side of restaurant. The Main BBQ place was booked out, so at least 8 customers i counted were told sorry, & left without stopping. Lost money.

The pizzas are cooked with the toast machine ( a machine like toast machine :) i cant understand how people have good comments about the pizzas. I think there are not that many options. Pretty small place. We were sitting by the door and enjoying the dusty shelves. Ventilation is extremely poor. They make pizza there (even though I wouldn't call it a pizza after I saw what they were using to "bake" it). So if you have a milk protein allergy you will not enjoy sitting there for long. Too much smell. Not a bad smell particularly, but I would rather not smell what other people were eating. Good selection of wine though.

Great little hidden place. Probably walked passed it hundreds of times and didn't know what I was missing. Very small selection of delicious pizza, they're also willing to customise them using whatever ingredients they have. Fantastic charcuterie boards with great cold meats and amazing cheeses. The wine menu is very impressive and they import the wines themselves so staff are very knowledgeable. Decent range of prices on the wines too.

Didn't try the pizza, but sat down with a small group of friends and we shared a bottle of good rosé. The place is hidden, so you have to know about it too get there, so the place isn't all that crowded either. But it seems there are seating opportunities for several large groups. The selection of wines is very good, and the owner seems to have a good passion for wines and that helps with having a good conversation. This is a place I'll return to. With friends.

Small but cozy place to hang out with friends and enjoy good food and wine. Very crowded, but that speaks to the quality of the food and drink. Of particular interest was their white pizza, which is made with a sour cream based sauce, and was delicious. Very cool place to go!

Just spent a couple of very pleasant hours in this pub with friends. Great Norwegian beers and ciders, and the pub tender was very nice. It’s a good place to spend time in after a walk in the hilly streets of Bergen.

Apparently this is where the locals go to drink, as it's cheaper than most places. It's a really chilled out cool little bar just a short walk from the popular harbour/quay area. People are friendly, chatty, bar staff are helpful, the music is cool. All good.

We order 2 beer and i was transporting it behind the fence to our table outside ,because it was pretty narrow with many other guests in the outside area. Suddenly a dude (i guess it was an another employee) appear at our table and reprimand us, we are not allow to Do this, in a bit rude tone Friendly hint from me, attach a notice outside for guests, who doesnt know this rule.

We stumbled upon this bar by accident and ended up loving it! It’s such a cozy spot with a great selection of beers. We enjoyed it so much that we came back the very next day.

I paid NOK 75 in cover charge and had just entered the bar to enjoy a nice ending of the evening with my colleagues with some karaoke. I ordered an IPA in the bar and the bartender placed my glass partly on top of a built up ledge of the bar counter. This resulted of course in my beer falling over and spilling all over me and the bar. All good, accidents happen. When I asked the bartender to top off my beer, she said that I was not the first this had happened to but that she would not fill up or replace my beer. I would have to talk to the boss the next day. 1. Horrible customer service 2. Even worse design of a bar counter, and the bartender caused this. I have lived in this city for 50 years, and this was probably my second visit here, due to a bad reputation in town. I will never come back!

Ordered two Long Island Iced Tea. They were not long and had very low alcohol content just like cola with lemon and little alcohol. No food at the place so better plan accordingly.

If you want beer, they have it. We stopped in for a beer in the afternoon and it definitely has an interesting vibe. There was a guy asleep on the table behind us. 😀 I'd imagine this place gets "interesting" in the evenings!

Staff is ok and it has a good location. Unfortunately the security personnel is not friendly. Bathroom is very tiny and not the cleanest. The customers are usually regular drunks.

The bartender was Greg and he was amazing. I had some great menu drinks and a couple off menu creations. My favorite drink was the Popstar Martini made with Popcorn Syrup. This place is absolutely top tier. If you’re in Bergen, you have to come here! 🙌🏾

Quite literally the most unbelievable and imaginative cocktails I have ever had. This is an absolute must do in Bergen. The cocktail list is expansive and has something for everyone. Photos absolutely do not do justice to how beautifully these were presented and prepared.

Bar hopping time. It's girls night out. We decided to go to this bar. Once we entered the bar it's nice, feeling cozy, bartender offer a sit on the second floor. It's big, pretty private. We liked the vibes. The drinks were good too and very affordable. Highly recommended 😊✌️The only down fall to this bar is that they are pouring tiny pieces of ice too much that I hardly taste the tropical flavor that we ordered.

Great decor and atmosphere. We sat outside and loved that they had outdoor heaters at the back. Cocktails were tasty and well presented, the ordering system via the app didn’t work as well as hoped and caused a little confusion but overall great place for a drink. The place was very cozy. Very spacious between tables and seats. Got its unique tropics theme decoration all over the place. The bartender was very talkative and welcoming. However, we enjoyed the ambience more than our drinks. We had an Undead and a Theodor’s Tipple. Both drink were fine but not extraordinary. Nothing really special in them and the alcohol concentration was not high as well. Overall, a good place to chill with an average drink in the city of Bergen.

We loved it. Beautiful cocktail bar with tropical style near the center of Bergen. There are particular cocktails, almost all rum based. There is a garden outside with a cozy trendy atmosphere.

Medicare place at best... Tables and seats dirty and sticky, drinks overpriced, music was okich... Don't plan to go back anytime soon.

The decor is fun, and very crowded on the weekend but still has room to dance. The music however was terrible, and the drinks were insanely overpriced (even for Norway). Also, it was advertised as free but I had to pay a fee they said, even though others did not who came in after I did.

Only one german beer on tap and it's a wheat beer. It's not a beer hall if that is what you are looking for. Also beer mugs are cheap plastic. It's more a club. Also after 8 they change 100 kroner for admission. Annnd we were told to hang up our jackets after we sat down at table. THEY CHARGE you to check your jackets! Never going again. Nothing german about it.

Come here if u want bar staff controlling how much u drink and kick u out when u find a solution to walkaround their policy, also place is being run by russians who support ukraine war. NEVER THERE AGAIN

Classic students place where to hang out with your friends! Cheep beers (if there is cheep beer in Norway!) Quick and kind service behind the bar. Good thing they are one of the places that close latest at 2:30! Some selection of beers and if you like more cocktails ask for Odd he will fix you something tasty that you will not regret!

Nice prices. Nice place for students and grownups, with newspapers and bar games. One of their bartenders presented me 'Samuel Smith's Organic Chocolate Stout', and it instantly became my favorite. Definitely a winner! :)

Great location and a lovely restaurant to sit in. Really hard to believe it’s one of the oldest restaurants as it looks so well. Food was amazing. House wine needs to be changed in my opinion which we sent back. Other than that, it was excellent. Takes bookings right up to 22:00. The roof top bar is perfect for before or after drinks too.

I came around 4pm on a Saturday without a reservation and the host was able to get me a window seat and was so kind! The food was really good and the cocktail was even better! Next time I’ll definitely be making a reservation so I can enjoy the views for a little while longer!

Super spot to have a drink or food overlooking the harbor. We had a flight, mixed drinks, and lunch while avoiding the rain that came in over the lunch hour. It was quite spectacular to watch the waterfront activity while enjoying the quiet and calm of a nice brewery space. The food was good, and the beer was decent. The mixed drinks I had were better than the beer in my opinion, but overall a great experience.

Last minute table booking on an incredibly busy day (Bergen Marathon). The food, service and entire experience was amazing. Shout out to Evalina our waitress who was brilliant. Recommend the beer flight and dishes of the day.

We had an amazing experience at Nama! The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the food was excellent. We tried the edamame, shrimp tempura, fish, cheesecake, two different kinds of sushi, and the soft-shell sushi – everything was super fresh and full of flavor. What really makes this place stand out is the service. All of the staff were very friendly and attentive, and a special thanks to Monica for her outstanding hospitality and kindness. Highly recommended if you are looking for great sushi and a wonderful dining experience!

Our family enjoyed a delightful experience, with welcoming staff plus an excellent view of both the sushi bench and a hot food kitchen. The food itself was absolutely excellent - with great quality ingredients and wonderful presentation. The kids were particularly delighted by a dish of smoked sashimi served under a dome that released its smoke when lifted. Not a meal we could afford often, but an absolutely delicious night out for a special occasion!

Yesterday we had dinner for 5 p. Food was excellent, service top level. We waitress to make an offer for sharing menu and it was fabulous! Highly recommending to come to Nama at least once in the lifetime ❤️

We arrived at Nama during a slight drizzle and perhaps, as a result, we were the only customers to be seated in the restaurant at the beginning of our meal. We shared a generously sized bowl of edamame and I had a very filling bowl of ramen. We also tried the salmon sashimi and it was really fresh. The edamame portion was huge, service was very attentive and I was surprised more people weren’t there! We really enjoyed this meal and would return again.

This was one of the best sushi meals I’ve ever had. The service was phenomenal. Food was incredible. I highly recommend the Exclusive Nama Experience. Just WOW.

The staff was friendly and helped us pick great options. A bit pricey, but totally worth it for the quality. Perfect place for a date or a nice dinner out. Highly recommend the wagyu nigiri and truffle maki — unreal!

Mediocre food, extremely slow. Each small dish takes more than 30 minutes, in total the five dishes takes three hour, whereas each dish takes less than 5 minutes to eat, and they are not that good. The photos are all the food and the price of this so called “omakase”. Only the first sashimi meets the standard. The rest are so ordinary and not tasty that I feel it is quite shameless to say it is omakase. Certainly omakase is now used to emphasize it is Japanese fine dining, but I think they should be more respectful and sincere to use this term, rather than make it an excuse to make easy money. Also, I see in other reviews that the mini burger contains a piece of fish and a beef patty, while mine only has a beef patty. Waste of money, waste of time.

Very good Italian restaurant. The restaurant had a great vibe and had indoor and outdoor seating. It appears small but has a ton of covered outdoor space. All of our food was fantastic. Service was a bit slow but we weren’t in a hurry. I would recommend considering this restaurant.

Good restaurant. We had a pizza and some pasta - both cooked really well and good ingredients. 4 star review only because it was so expensive - 139 Kr (10£) for a 0.4L Moretti. It is central Bergen, tourist area and Norway but wow. Would recommend but expect it to be expensive. Good service too and super clean kitchen

Cosy old house with lots of levels, wood panelling, books and art. Very nice atmosphere and good Italian food. I had the seafood linguine which was good but I wish it had more shrimps in the dish. Would also be nice to have a simple carbonara on the menu because the pasta choices were all expensive, big heavy dishes. The service was very attentive and courteous. The espresso martini was delicious! We all enjoyed the food and it was a good place for a family gathering. Bathrooms are downstairs and some were a bit of a labyrinth to get to - so anyone with mobility issues might like to ask for a main floor table. :)

Genuinely don't understand why this place doesn't have a higher rating. Not only is the atmosphere very charming but the service is excellent. As you can see, the food is beautiful and prepared with great care. I would highly recommend getting the focaccia and pairing it with the caprese. 🤌 11/10 would return. (Bonus points for the hot & fresh bread + the great song selection)

This was recommended to us, unfortunately I come from the town that has the #9 Europe pizza ranking, so of course I compared them, both being Napo pizzas. Don't get me wrong, this pizza was not bad at all, but considering the price, I would probably not come here again. Service was nice, and the location is very pretty!

Nice pretty surrounding and clean restaurant with good service, the Pizza was nice as was the bruschetta, not at all too expensive and a good lunch meal.

Fantastic location, particularly on a sunny day, but we felt the menu unfortunately let the place down. In terms of drinks, there weren’t really that many options, and the food was greasy. We had the sardines served with bread and butter. The bread had been deep fried in oil, the sardines were served in oil and it was served with butter and a slice of lemon, all a bit tasteless, not even a squeeze of lemon could cut through the oil. A side salad was on the online menu which would have helped, but this wasn’t on the menu in the restaurant when we arrived. All in all - a good place for a drink in the sun, but it could be better.

The pumpkin soup was absolutely amazing. Nice chill atmosphere, don't expect anything fabcy. There was no concert so it wasn't busy at all. Friendly staff. View of the water is amazing. Would definitely come back if it is possible to sit outside. More people dining alone than in groups.

The Mussels and fries are always a winner. Staff are always attentive as long as the sun hasn’t randomly come out and 5000 Bergensere have turned up for dinner unexpectedly.

We had a glass of wine here, we did not have any food. Wine selection is massive and has wines from all over the world. We were told it’s the largest wine selection in Bergen. Staff was very helpful and the inside is nice and cozy.

A place very friendly to visit. Very good options of wine by the glass. We also had a cheese and olive board that was delicious for accompaniment. They have board games to play there if you want to. We spend a really nice time there.

Used to be a favourite spot, much because one of the staff is very good with wine selection, also wine by glass. Then I witnessed the owner/manager harass a young guest, who happened to be the son of a competitor. Not good! This is not a way to behave no matter; off duty, how much intake of alcohol or having a bad day. The question then is; how is the staff treated?

The pizza was kind of a scam. Salt on top! Too thin, ready-made dough?

A nice wine bar where you can enjoy a great variety of wines and some snacks like cheese platter, olives, bread and pesto, etc. This is a place you can relax and it is a good alternative if you want to hang out with your friends or someone you care about.

Great service and good drinks, not our first visit to this establishment and it won't be our last. 🙂

This local spot was recommended by our Airbnb host, and we absolutely loved the vibe. The pizza was delicious, and the drinks were expertly crafted. It was the only place during our travels that we returned to twice—simply because we enjoyed the staff, atmosphere, and drinks so much. A must-visit if you’re looking for a quieter place with great service and excellent cocktails.

Best of all worlds! The most amazing cod fish — a combination of buttery poached cod, silky kale, earthy mushrooms, and the umami richness of miso made for an incredible dish and THAT paired with a perfect glass of Mâcon. Perfection!!

Didn't manage to make res so we came back around 9pm in hopes to snag a table before kitchen closed. We LOVED Tempo Tempo. The scallops were incredible, the Korean styled beef tartare, the crab fritters...and 100% get the milk ice cream with rhubarb. Loved the vibe here and all the ciders we tried. Service was exceptional despite how busy they were. Chef Lars swung by to tell us how the made the dishes...what more can you ask for!?

One of the best bars I’ve been to around Europe. I was travelling solo and walked past this packed bar on the way to the hotel. I came back and unfortunately they were fully booked for food but was able to grab a seat at the bar. The people and staff were incredible along with the drink choices on the menu. A wonderful night!

Was served 2 very flat pints of Stella Artois. Asked the barmaid to look into it. She poured a small glass tasted it and said it was fine. They tasted OK but flat as a pancake. Worst pint of Stella I have had around the world. The barmaid said we have had no other complaints about the Stella tonight... Embarrassing for me. I left them on the bar. Guinness was ok though

Unfortunately, after a really fun night (that included just a few beers) and vigilance on me and my party's part, my wallet was stolen here. Be on guard! This doesn't typically happen in Bergen!

Location is great, went to watch a euros game with a friend, sat down and had a decent time. The local beer on tap was tasty but there was no food on the day. The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful as not many people were there, which isn’t usual for a football game. (Was a nice contrast though)

Friendly and kind staff, the place is right at the center of the harbour. Good cocktails but maybe a bit expensive due to the area.

Each time I have visited this bar, I have seen customers, who have gone outside, only to then not be allowed back in. None of whom were drunk or behaving badly. Clearly, more training is required for the young troll they currently employ as a door-boy. It's a shame as it is a nice bar, in a great location, who do at times have really good musicians playing live.

Not entirely sure of the food or drinks as we didn’t stay once we saw the prices for some of the games (see image). It had a good atmosphere though, and the staff were friendly. There was trivia from 7pm Tuesdays and music bingo I think on Wednesdays. Not sure about other days. To play billiards, it was 4kr/minute, or 240/game. That’s about 20€, or about 15x I’ve paid for a game in living memory. Though there seemed a few people enjoying a game of shuffleboard and billiards, that price made us leave, sadly.

Got here relatively early as ran out of things to do in Bergen and the thought of playing some pool for a bit was welcomed, but it was very expensive as they charge per minute. I would expect that if it was busy or peak times, but when there is hardly anyone else in the bar (and I mean a handful of people not even playing pool), the price should be cheaper. Overall though, it had a good variety of activities (darts, table tennis etc) and could see it being fun in the evening when busier, but the high price for playing games was extortionate.

One of the best places in Bergen to hang out with your friends for beer and games. Food is good and not so expensive. Beer tastes good. Sometimes you can get great deals on snacks and can get good quantity for lower price. Although it's very spacious but gets crowded during weekends.

Takes to long to get drinks, and music is not the best. But I general its actually nice and convenient location. Would give 4 stars if I got drinks faster. No fault of the staff, there are just so many people ready to drink.

Super cool, grungy bar in Bergen. Food was good, bartender was friendly, music was weird, and cocktails were great. We had some excellent whiskey sour variations. Video games and pool tables available. It’s exactly what you’d want in a hideaway bar.

A really good cocktail bar that's quirky and slightly hidden away. I wasn't sure what I was walking into at first but pleasantly surprised when I ventured in. Well worth a visit.

This is a well-hidden metal bar in Bergen city centre. The people are nice and music is good, the atmosphere is suitable for a metal bar as well. I cannot comment on cocktails or foods I did only buy regular beers.

This was a very relaxed and quiet bar when we were there on a Tuesday. They had a shuffleboard table. We enjoyed that they had local beer on tap. The bar tender was friendly and had good recommendations.

Not exactly as I expected. Maybe it was the white table cloth that stuck out like a sore thumb, maybe it was but two whiskey cocktails listed on the menu with a Manhattan made with actual cherry liquor and tasted like an over the top sweet dessert wine. Both soups that we ordered were very good. They do not serve pizza at all (that is a 4 year old pic online).

Nice restaurant but understaffed. Went there twice during our stay in Bergen. The 2nd time we left without ordering anything as it had been 40 minutes and no one even looked in our direction. We are always patient and courteous when dining out but the restaurant was not very busy and the staff seemed almost annoyed when anyone walked in during both of our experiences. The first night was busier so we were understanding but after a 2nd poor experience we took our business elsewhere

Better known as Terminus Whisky bar, Bar Amundsen is the place to go in Bergen if you are thirsty for some whisky! Looking like a high class bar from the 1930’s with smooth jazz playing in the background the bar sets the perfect mood! And the whisky selection is excelent! Let me put it this way: they have a ladder in the bar that they need to access the entirety of their many bottles of whisky!

Excellent and diverse whiskey selection with prices that were fair compared to US equivilancy (when I can even find some of these rare bottles over there). Beautiful and relaxing atmosphere. Definitely one of my favorite places in Bergen. Staff was professional and friendly.

Hands down the best whisky bar I've ever seen. I would give this place ten stars if I could. We were fortunate enough to get a couple seats at the bar and let Simon take care of us for a couple hours. After asking a few questions about my tastes and what I was looking for, he guided me through four incredible glasses (Glenrothes 18, St. Magdalene 28 distilled in 1982, Rosebank 21 distilled in 1990, and a Bunnahabhain 36 distilled in 1974). They have an absurd selection including older vintages, many independent bottlings, and closed distilleries. Simon was adept at suggesting unique, delicious pours, and, incredibly, the bill didn't break the bank. The price for the four pours (and a glass of prosecco) was less than you could ever find a glass of any of the last three whiskys in the states (if you could even find them). Truly a wonderful experience for anyone who appreciates whisky. After drinking over-priced beers and wine most of my stay in Bergen, I wish I would've just come straight to Amundsen.

Cozy restaurant in the downtown area of Bergen serving yummy food and a wide selection of drinks. The interior is very cozy and warm, making it an ideal place to have dinner with friends. We went there with colleagues after a conference and enjoyed a lovely spread of Norwegian seafood and fish with fresh salad and some chilled prosecco. It can get a bit loud during the busy time of day but it's amazing nevertheless. The staff is friendly and welcoming and the whole vibe is very pleasant.

Three stars because of the nice concert venue, but the restaurant has unfortunately become quite mediocre, especially the vegetarian options. Which is a shame, because when they opened the food was really good! I've been here for two separate, bigger events, and after both of them, I've left hungry afterwards. I'm still upset that a waiter took away the brownie placed in front of me because she didn't understand the difference between vegan and vegetarian. Somehow that was worse than finding a piece of plastic in my food.

Unless your 7ft tall or in the first row you won't be able to see anything as there's a 1ft "stage" What a letdown to "see" a legendary show and literally not see anything

Good beers and very kind staff. We were in Bergen for two nights and they let us watch the football match Roma-Salernitana on one of the pub screens, just the two of us! Really appreciated it and would surely recomend the place to any football fan or just beer lovers :)

Will practically force you to purchase beverages within the first minute upon arrival. Sat down with a couple buddies to watch a game, we were all alone in the pub at approx 3PM, they all ordered beers, and i wasn’t ready for mine yet. Explained it to the staff, and and was told to buy now or leave.

I didn’t expect to face literal racial discrimination when I decided to visit The Old Irish Pub in Bergen. I had heard good things about the place and came with friends, ready to enjoy the night. The entry fee was 100 NOK, which I paid without issue. The drinks were overpriced, so I only had one, but what followed wasn’t something I anticipated. Despite minding my own business—mostly just being on my phone—I was repeatedly harassed by different bouncers. They kept insisting I was “too drunk” even though I had barely had anything to drink and was behaving completely normally. To avoid trouble, I moved spots a few times, but eventually, a security guard came up to me and told me to leave, again claiming I was too drunk. I was literally just on my phone! When I tried to understand why I was being treated this way, one of the blond male managers went on a complete power trip, repeatedly reminding me that he was the manager and didn’t need to explain anything to me—even though I was a paying customer who had done absolutely nothing wrong. The level of disrespect and arrogance is unimaginable. This experience sucked the life out of me for the night. I got home feeling deeply upset and ruminative over what had happened, trying to make sense of the blatant injustice. It was clear that I was being singled out for no reason—except, apparently, for not having white skin. If you’re a person of color, think twice before visiting The Old Irish Pub in Bergen. No one should have to deal with this kind of blatant racism. Shame on the staff of the Old Irish Pub in Bergen and shame on the owners for condoning such behaviour. There are far better bars in Bergen—ones that won’t treat you like this. Please don’t support this place.

Old Irish Pub Bergen is not a bar, it’s a military operation. Came in with my helmet, left dismantled like a stolen scooter. Just amazing place.

Terrible experience at Old Irish It was an absolutely awful experience. My friend was kicked out of the bar for no clear reason, she wasn’t drinking heavily or causing any trouble, yet the bartender asked the security to remove her by force. We had paid 10 euros to store our jackets inside, but when we were forced to wait outside in the rain, they refused to return them for about 10 minutes. They didn’t offer any umbrellas or help at all, and when they finally gave our jackets back, they basically threw them at us The staff was extremely rude and unprofessional. Definitely the worst service I’ve ever experienced in Bergen. Would not recommend. I have never experienced such rude behavior from the staff at any bar ever.

I paid the 200 NOK cover fee even though it was overpriced, but it was Seventeenth of May so fair enough.My friend and I were violently grabbed by a guard and kicked out after taking a single step outside for a breath of fresh air after less than an hour inside. The reasoning he gave was "just because" and what really shocked me was "we have enough chinks." I have never experienced anything like this before in Norway. Blatant racism and mediocre atmosphere, if you're of asian descent I recommend going somewhere else. Overall a rotten way to end an otherwise fantastic day.

Went there, had a couple beers and a dance until i got kicked out of the club for no reason, just because I had a good time with girls around me. This muslim/turkish looking security guy took my arm and dragged me out of the pub, felt like a dog and he said if you dont like dont come back. Didnt even give real reason for his actions. Disapointed and not recommending this place whatsoever

A fantastic fish soup, probably the best I’ve ever had. Althought it’s hard for me to give five stars for the plating choice. The soup was served in an old plastic bowl that needed to retire probably a couple years ago at this point. The plastic on the walls of the bowl was coming off, the bottom was all scraped. A shame to ruin such a delicious dish and the freshness of its ingredients with an old and ruined bowl, also considering the price paid, not cheap. Guys, throw the bowl away! The atmosphere was cozy and I could sit there with my computer for a while.

We ordered the pasta from daily special, made with potato and with unique flavor, the toasted almond thins gave it another layer of complexity, very well cooked. The fish stew has a southeast Asian twist, you’ll like it if you like Tom yum soup. The bread and butter was surprising good, the butter is airy and fluffy (possibly made with pesto flavor?). All in all, we enjoyed all dishes ordered. Great location and view with reasonable price!

Best fish soup I’ve ever had, and better than anywhere else we’ve had in Norway too. Delicious bread and butter, and nice other drink and food options and fair prices. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, and a hipster vibe too (in the right way).

Peaceful bar attached to Bergen Kunsthall with a small but well made food menu. Restful at the height of tourist season, and a good place to avoid the crowds that fill the Brygge area.

Wow. I thought this was just a tourist trap for museum goers, but the food, latte, and beers were great. I had the fish soup, my wife had the falafel. Both were excellent.

My home away from home! I visited every night I was in Bergen and had the best time! A very warm and friendly atmosphere, made so by Frederick the smart, friendly and welcoming bartender. I played chess with the locals and made new friends who welcomed me to their circle and I ended up rooting for their local football team, got great cycling advice. It really made my trip to Bergen special and memorable and looking forward to returning to my new Cheers bar!

Cozy atmosphere, great prices, friendly bartenders. As a solo female traveler, I felt completely comfortable here. I came here just after opening time on a Friday night when things were very chill.

Biskopen has a good beer and ale selection, great atmosphere, and friendly bar staff. There are only 2 things that stop it from being 5/5 and that's that the decor is getting a bit tired and it doesn't open before 6pm which can make after work beers problematic, but other than that this place is great and I recommend it.

Chill place with a cool aesthetic. Nice workers and good drinks. My only complaint would be the menu, which doesn't really state what beers they have, but the bartender seemed more than happy to tell when I asked

Slightly off-putting entrance up some stairs, opens out into an elegant and relaxing bar area. Craft beers were good and well served, can't speak for anything else. Slightly pricey, but it is in a central location.

Baran Café is easily one of the cosiest bars in Bergen. Great, chill atmosphere and lovely decor. All the staff are super friendly as well. The selection of beers is excellent, and if you can't find something you like at Baran, you won't find it anywhere. The location seems extremely small, but they do have a somewhat hidden basement. It's not the place the bring a large group, but 4-5 people could easily spend an entire evening at Baran, immersed in deep conversation.

One of the best places to get different beers in Bergen. They have many types of stouts it that is your preference (many bars dont have any).

Hands down the best beer bar in Bergen. I’ve lived here for 20+ years, and this is it. If you’re looking for a popular or hip place, look no further. Also have a beer at Biskopen which is 50m apart. Updated august 2024, the bartender has knowledge about beer and it is still the best place to drink unique and diverse beer in Bergen.

Another place I really shouldn't write a review about, because other people will find out about Bar Baran! This place is lovely. Cosy, casual, with really friendly and knowledgeable people behind the bar that will help you find the perfect beer for you. They have lots of interesting things on tap (tonight I tried a beer called Mango Kush Wheat Beer, which didn't taste like either really but was fresh and hoppy and lovely, and a pineapple cider which was very different and interesting). It's not so noisy you can't chat with your friends, but does get fairly lively in a very relaxed way. Love this place. FYI 24/1/25 - this place is still lovely!!!

The French dude makes that place. He has a great personality , funny and honest. He will play whatever musics you like. Amazing beers as well . I had a triple from England that blue my doors off. So good. We went back a second time while we were in Bergen . Love this place

One of the great bars in Bergen. Want a beer that you can't find anywhere else? Chances are you might find a bottle here. It might break your wallet if you dive into that closet, but hey.... you'll love it.

The staff was amazing, and very kind. They have 15 kroner tequila shots on Thursdays, so it was insanely busy, but the staff stayed calm and we're very nice to us! Though- the crowd that goes here is a bit too aggressive, and the music is never very good.

Nice atmosphere, good range of drinks, also resently included food on the menu. Throughout the evening, they turn up the music to near deafening, so you'll have to prepare to scream if you want to be heard later on.

Excellent bartenders. They´re not happy serving beer - they want to give you what you want. Brukbar also has the juiciest burgers you will find at any bar in the city.

Anton not only knows what he's doing but is helpful enough to suggest other popular bars if you need it. However, if you go here it goes off! Students come here as well as others of course and it's an awesome vibe, Anton will look after you and give you a drink to make your night!

This place was obviously not built to be a night club. It easily gets cramped. And of some reason, I never have fun here.
