The lady Sophie was lovely. We fully enjoyed the bottomless brunch. My only thing to say is more variety with food and drink. As I've been to other places that had more variety. The table was set up lovely. So thank you. We will be back.

The food was well presented and hot. According to the server I was the first he had served a Bacon and blue cheese burger to since they added it to their menu and was eager to hear my thoughts. Good mix of classic and modern music. When we were there, it was clean and well run.

I went in there last night [11th Oct] it was very busy. As the rugby finals was on. I finally got served. I purposely took out a £20 note and ordered my drinks. The barman served me with my drinks and gave me my change. I looked and was £10 short. I managed to get his attention and explained that I was £10 short. He grudgingly went back to the till and took out 5 x £1 coins and planted them in my hand and walk away. Came away rather annoyed.

We have been to Gardeners Arm an unbelievable amount of times since I came as a student in 2018, and decided to do the quiz this evening. All but one of the tables were reserved as we expected, so we arrived at 6:30pm to get a table. My friend saved the only spare table, and we went to the bar to buy drinks, in which time my friend was accosted by a member of staff and accused of moving chairs, (he hadn’t). I said to the ladies at the bar that he hadn’t moved anything, as there were more of us than chairs when we came in, and there still was. This was met with being called a liar by the bar staff. We had bought 3 drinks, and were so disgusted by the behaviour of all 3 staff members that we came into contact with that we left them untouched on the bar. I expect to be reached out to be a member of management for the horrible behaviour of these 3 ladies on your staff this evening.

Popped in for a breakfast off the new weekend menu, and I can honestly say it is by far the best breakfast I’ve had from a traditional pub for a very very long time. I had the small breakfast, it was more than enough to cure the harshest of hangovers (allegedly) and a coffee for sub £7 it is absolute bargain. Cooked perfectly and came in very good time and piping hot unlike some other local establishments in the area. I’m not brave enough to challenge the mega breakfast. Highly recommend.

Fantastic food and service from Chloe and the rest of the crew.Went in after winning a raffle prize through Skirlaugh rugby club, could not recommend highly enough.Thank you all for a really good day. Will not hesitate to call in again.

Best bar in Hull. Amazing drinks, cocktails are amazing and the whole team are fantastic. Table service which is a rarity and the food is delicious. Call in. You won’t want to leave!

Popped in on a dreary rainy day. Place was busy as anything and lively but managed to get squeezed in without any issue. If you can't see any seats, downstairs, there is room upstairs. I was immediately greeted and directed to a table and then again welcomed by the waitress upstairs. She was very pleasant and friendly. She sorted out some water for the table and let me crack on with the menus. I decided on the Passion Fruit Caipirinha. It was full of flavour and boozy. If you like your cocktails with a punch, this one is great. I went with the Yazzmatazz pizza for my meal. I was unsure on the honey mustard and asked if it could be a small amount. The waitress agreed but then came up with the idea of having it on the side in a bowl so that I can try it and add as much or little as I wanted and I'm really glad she did. The pizza tasted decent, the toppings nice and I love a good jam, such as the Jalapeno jam. Tried the honey mustard, liked it and added it to the pizza and oh my god it was so good. One of the best things I've eaten in a while and one of the best pizzas I've had end of. They've set the bar and I hope the other pizzas can match how good that one is. The food, service, and venue are all great. Definitely going to be returning as there's plenty of options with both food and drinks to try.

Visited here yesterday before going to see jason manford Food was lovely pizza and chicken wings 🤩 The cocktails were fantastic and the place was packed so packed the staff looked gutted having to turn people away Awesome little find with a great vibe will definitely be back .... A 🌟
Jim K — Google review
We popped in here just before we went for food somewhere else in town, really wish we had come in earlier as only had chance to have one cocktail. Both our cocktails were amazing, as good as we have had in Hull. Services top notch, great staff and so attentive. We will be back soon for more and really want to try the food! Absolutely fabulous all round 🩵
Helen H — Google review
Our very first visit here and certainly won't be our last. I would say this is Hull version of Evil Eye in York. Staff are very friendly, very warm greeting. Fab atmosphere, it's great watching the staff make the cocktails. It's like theatre. 2nd visit. Pizza was absolutely amazing. 4 big slices, reminded us of pizza in New York. Delicious. Gorgeous wedges highly recommend a visit.
Paul W — Google review
Great and attentive service from all of the staff members on. Even had water and pretzels brought to us and refilled with no prompt during visit and that was with a staff changeover. I'm really not much of a cocktail person but the three I had were delicious. Whoever is on bar and/or designing the drinks knows what they are doing. They are spenny; but it's a very rare occasion where the drink and service justifies the price. Hilarious menu; several audible guffaws so I apologise for ruining the otherwise rustic yet charming atmosphere. Can't comment on the food though the menu looks good and I heard no complaints from tables that were. Love the armchairs, but please water your Yucca. If you want warming up have yourself a Penicillin because that stuff could cure the plague.
Sam W — Google review
Great atmosphere and vibe. The decoration around the place is amazing and eye catching and the staff seem friendly enough. There wasn't much choice for vegetarians on the menu, and it's a shame the sweet potato fries are no longer on the menu as I have been told many good things. The wedges replacement were alright. The food was alright but bizarre to have a chicken sandwich which is a chicken wrapped in a pitta bread. The grease dripped through to make the bottom soggy. Was alright but wouldn't come again for food, maybe some drinks but...
Mike R — Google review
One of the bar staff members was extremely rude to my friends, saying that they are going to serve someone who was younger and prettier. Absolutely disgusting behaviour. We did not stay for drinks and won't be back.

Pub
Ye Olde White Harte is a historic 2-floor pub in Hull, built in 1550 and known for its oak paneling, inglenook fireplaces, and even a human skull on display. It's located near the pedestrianized Whitefriargate and the George Hotel with the smallest window in the world. The pub features a famous plotting parlour where Sir John Hotham allegedly planned to refuse King Charles entry to the city during the English Civil War.
Lovely old historical pub oldest one in hull. Beers cheap and staff are nice. Would recommend having a gander at the skull in the corner of the room.
Amber N — Google review
Glorious ancient atmospheric pub. Bar staff claim to have seen apparitions. Like the Golden Fleece in York, this houses a human skull. Love the place.
Shelly H — Google review
Love this pub. I always visit when I'm in Hull on business. Great old world charm. Usually great staff, you always get the odd one;modern world, modern values. I always have a pint of Old Peculiar. One of my favourites. Hard to find as most pubs have gone down the 'trendy' pale ale 'new' IPA route. The standard of the pint is usually spot on. Unfortunately,on a couple of occassions, it has had a very slight sour taste and smell to it. As on this occassion. Different staff members prepping? Different staff members cleaning the pipes? I don't know. But it's there, occassionally. An inconsistancy. A fly in the ointment. A lack of consistant, measurably applied standards. Great pub. Owners/ managers need to pay more attention to the details that matter.
Kevin M — Google review
This is one of Hull's oldest pubs. It is very atmospheric, with original wood work on the inside. With interesting decor. The bar staff are nice, friendly and polite. The bar and seating area is kept clean and tidy. It's a nice quiet bar to drink in. Drinks are reasonably priced with a good selection to choose from.
Sadie B — Google review
This is one of our favourite pubs to visit.. it's quaint charming and steeped in history... the staff are very friendly and there is always a good selection of real ales and beers. It's well worth a visit
Leila K — Google review
A hidden gem in Hull old town, tucked away down a tiny alley which opens into a lovely courtyard where the floral displays have won several awards. A Theakston pub serving 6 real ales plus real ciders. This historic pub has a room used for plotting in the civil war, survived a substantial fire and houses a mysterious skull. I don't think there is any food? Beers in excellent condition. Friendly and we'll worth a visit.

Pub
Ye Olde Black Boy, established in 1729, is Hull's oldest licensed premises and a charming pub with a rich history. It offers a cozy atmosphere, serving an array of cask ales and award-winning pies for visitors to enjoy. Situated in the Old Town amidst cobbled streets and historic pubs, it provides the perfect setting for gathering with friends or family by a warm fire during the winter months.
If you like olde style beams and paneling, this pub is for you. Set in an old tobacconist store, that gave it the slightly questionable name, the pub hasn't changed for decades - which is a good thing in this case. Not for the younger lager drinkers, this pub offers a good choice of decent ales, served by friendly staff.
Helen B — Google review
Good atmosphere and choice of beers with an amazing sense of history. Very cozy front room.
Toby H — Google review
A true gem in Hull! Ye Olde Black Boy is an absolute must-visit for anyone who appreciates a proper pub with character. The selection of real ales is fantastic and impeccably kept, and you can't leave without trying one of their legendary pork pies—they're the perfect pairing. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with friendly staff and a great historic vibe. It’s a wonderful, traditional escape from modern life.

This was a lovely pub for drinking, set in an ancient building as the classic name indicates! Restaurant
The Lion & Key is a charming traditional pub nestled in the lively heart of Hull's Old Town. Adorned with beer mats on the ceiling, it exudes a casual and inviting ambiance. Renowned for its classic British cuisine, this establishment offers an array of delectable dishes, including the crowd-favorite Fish and Chips. The menu also features pies, Sunday roasts, and a wide selection of beers to complement your meal.
The people were incredibly kind and welcoming. It was a pleasant atmosphere. Tip- seniors over 65s get 20% discount, woweee! Definitely will return when in the area.
Amanda G — Google review
On a visit to this part of Yorkshire with the East Suffolk u3a, our local Hull tour guide recommended a visit here to sample 'The best fish and chips in town'. The pub, established in 1817, was very busy with the two barmaids handing out endless samples of beer to foreign tourists who couldn't make up their minds what to order. Eventually, haddock and chips order duly placed, I settled at the only free table in the place and the meal arrived amazingly quickly, along with tartare sauce and mayonnaise. The haddock was excellent, with lovely flakes of fish in a lovely light batter; the chips, to my taste, well underdone. More arrived when I mentioned the matter, but showed no improvement. No WiFi and, when I enquired, was told that 'we prefer chat in here'. To which I responded, 'difficult when you are on your own'. The pub has a lovely vibe about it so I felt very comfortable in it. But some fashion advice to one member of staff; don't wear a black thong under white linen trousers. Maybe it's my age.......

Place is awesome. Bar staff friendly and helpful can’t help but feel welcome. The food is fantastic and a wide variety of options. If you want a warmed up lasagna or a burger go for a wander as this place serves top quality food. And the pub is a real warm inviting pub. Really you won’t be disappointed

Lovely beer + food. The decor is extraordinary - even the urinals have funny signs above them.
Toby H — Google review
Excellent pub! Super friendly staff, good range of beers and lagers and reasonably priced. Outdoor area was smallish but decent enough. Great goal posts in the urinals to help with your aim! If you’re around Old Town you definitely need to visit here. We didn’t eat but the menu looked good and I’d probably eat here if I was to visit again.
The B — Google review
Absolutely fabulous nothing like pub grub it's just like mother used to make it. Okay it's a bit pricey compared with others but it's the ambience of the place. It appeared to be pensioners paradise with the 20% off everything, but then again it's those who seem to keep most places going, especially during the day. The staff were delightful despite their youthfulness. Top marks see you again very soon and thank you very much
Michael R — Google review
This is a great pub, with friendly staff, quality beers and good food. It really lets itself down with an antiquated payment system where bills cannot be split part cash and part card. Also, this pub does not accept £50 notes - crazy when a meal for 4 with a few drinks is over £100 these days. We had no problem anywhere else in Old Town. Worst of all, none of these payment rules are visibly on show for customers to see and understand before placing their orders. As a result by default customers can legally settle their bill using legal tender - cash in any denomination - as happened to us - so by refusing our payment The Lion & Key went against laid down legislation. The law ensures that if you offer to fully pay off a debt in a form that is considered legal tender – and there is no contract specifying another form of payment – you cannot be sued for failing to pay.

Thieving Harry's is a unique and rustic cafe located in the vibrant Humber Street area, offering a down-to-earth vibe and commanding views of Hull's historic Marina. This establishment specializes in a variety of dishes and beverages, with their brunch options being particularly popular among locals. Named after a historical fruit wholesaler, Thieving Harry's is co-owned by individuals with ties to the music industry, adding to its cultural appeal.
Superb place with a quirky interior and excellent location situated on the marina. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Breakfast offer was good and our choice of avocado toast and a breakfast sarnie was very tasty. Definitely recommend.

The looks of this lovely diner was the reason we tried it for the first time, certainly the most appealing in this lovely part of Hull. We sat at a seat outside and from start to finish, the service from every member of staff who looked after us was amazing. I ordered Eggs Royale with Black Pudding and my partner, she ordered Hot & Spicy Mushroom. We also had 2 lovely coffee’s and a Rhubarb cold drink. The food was absolutely delicious, and the presentation was without doubt the most amazing ever. Absolutely a pleasure to have dined here, definitely will return.
Howard W — Google review
What a gem of a place. We were there Saturday morning and it was humming but they found us a great spot by the window. Very friendly staff and cool vibe. The food was excellent, if I was nitpicking I would mention that it took a while to come out so if you are in a rush keep that in mind. We, however, were not in a rush so it didn’t affect our enjoyment at all. The veggie full English had loads of great twists on a classic and the steak and eggs was a huge hearty meal, both excellent value. Thanks Thieving Harry’s team!

Hip- but actually good!! A cool looking local place that ACTUALLY delivers. The food is good ( I didn't have to smash my sour dough with lump hammer🤣) The staff were friendly and attentive (not too busy having banter with each other🤦‍♂️) and just a really nice atmosphere of mixed local people and visitors. Reasonably priced also! 😊😊

After frequently seeing Thieving Harry’s, I thought it would be a nice, quirky brunch stop. Unfortunately, our visit was extremely disappointing. We were told there would be a 30-minute wait for food, which we were happy to accept, assuming we could enjoy coffee in the meantime. It wasn’t clear whether we needed to order at the counter or wait for table service, but eventually our order was taken — two coffees, a sandwich from the specials board, and a club sandwich. The wait for the coffees was surprisingly long (just under 30 minutes), though they were very good when they arrived. Sadly, the food was far less enjoyable. After waiting about an hour, the specials sandwich arrived with no sides and very chewy, flavourless pork, while the club sandwich was quite dry served with a few crisps and coleslaw that tasted off. We were so hungry by this point that we just ate what we were given, but it was certainly not what we had hoped for. Throughout the meal, no one came to check if everything was okay, and when paying, we weren’t asked how our visit had been. For over £35, the quality and service felt very poor value — I would have expected something closer to £20 for what was served. It’s a shame, as the café clearly has good reviews and perhaps we caught it on a bad day. But based on this visit, we wouldn’t return and will instead opt for a different brunch spot in future!

Food was decent but came out warm not hot. Was close to sending back but waited so long for it to come I didn’t bother. Had to go up and ask to be served despite two staff having a chat at the upstairs till for a good 5 mins. My entire meal was occupied by the last peoples cups and milk which hadn’t been cleared up.

Such a lovely place! Came to get my dinner so got a diet coke and a grilled cheese. Will say it's definitely an expensive place but at the same time I can see why. The food was lovely and well the coke was a coke so obviously nice. Wouldn't come her often due to the price but will definitely tell my friends to come here.

Professional Review Firstly I must say this is my most favourite local Italian restaurant they never fail to please and I can’t believe Ive only just reviewed now! For starters I had the Halloumi starter. The halloumi was cooked to perfection and the salad was fresh, the portion size was more that enough. The sweet Chile sauce was tasty and not over powering. For the mains I went for the margarita pizza (back to basics) with a side order of fries. The pizza was very tasty came out nice and hot with a nice crispy crust cooked to perfection. The tomato base was tasty and home made and the cheese and mozzarella was absolutely loverly. The fries were cooked well just slightly to oily. The chocolate fudge cake was loverly aswell! Regarding the environment I always feel very welcomed and adequately catered for. The staff are very friendly and the restaurant is never over crowded or to loud and always warm and homely and not overly expensive! This place is a hidden Gem and maybe that’s why I’ve kept it to myself for so long but I recommend this as my top rated restaurant in hull! Signing off Plus 1 side reviews

Staff were so polite and helpful without being invasive, always smiling. Food was gorgeous, best steak I’ve had in years! I wish I’d got the names of the servers but one was a young guy, tall, dark hair and glasses and the other was the most fab human, he had curly hair just above the shoulder, absolute stars! I’ll definitely be going back!

Cafe

Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Hull Old Town, Ye Olde House Hull Old Town is a charming tavern that elevates traditional pub fare with a modern twist. This historic establishment, one of the oldest houses in the area, features a cozy downstairs bar offering an impressive selection of gin and local beers alongside reasonably priced wines. The intimate upstairs dining area retains its original character with just a handful of tables set within what were once bedrooms.
From entering this eatery it was evident from the delightful decor we had chosen well. I ordered the ham off the bone sandwich it white bloomer bread accompanied by salad and a portion of French fries along with an obligatory pint of Guinness. My partner opted for a pot of Yorkshire tea to go with her Brie and cranberry whole meal breaded sandwich also accompanied by salad. I’ve eaten in many food outlets within the hull city centre having worked there for over twenty five years and can honestly say if the quality and freshness along with pleasant staff and surroundings are upheld this establishment is well worth a visit, not only for the choice but the quality and pleasant atmosphere I would definitely be returning and cannot recommend it highly enough thanks to staff

Came here on the off chance with kids & grandparents early one Saturday evening. Ordered some food which was perfect for what we wanted (some pizza, sausage rolls & chips to share), all fresh & tasty & good drinks. The people working there are what made it - so friendly & they brought my children some chocolate after their meal, and later a lollipop each. Really thoughtful, we had a great evening, thank you!

We stopped by on a Friday evening and were served by a really friendly lady who said she had sausage rolls of different kinds. Proper home made artisan sausage rolls as it turned out...served with a small salad. Delicious!! Reasonably priced too.

A pub you can walk into and feel like a local right away. Adam and Bev are a duo unseen down scale lane. This bar is absolutely worth the visit, great food, great beer and fantastic company. It's honestly unmatched. 1st stop Ye Olde House.

Well my wife and I eat out a lot and we both loved it here. It's compact downstairs with a small bar that does serve a very decent range of drinks. Their wine is not expensive either. Now remember this is one of the oldest houses in Hull that's been converted into this fantastic pub restaurant. Upstairs is what would have been 2 bedrooms at the end of a sloping corridore which have less than 10 tables each. Toilets in the corridore which were spotless. The owner is a young chef that's worked with Heston Blumenthal and 1884 restaurant in Hull. Now this chef is unreal with his chef skills. The food was fantastic. Good selection on the menu and items not seen before by us. Brawn lollipops deep fried. Seriously tasty food. Great wine and cocktails. Highly recommended.

Edit for 3rd trip recently, food is still fantastic, staff still very accomodating - still the best place in Hull! Been twice and both times the food was fantastic. Snails and steak are both incredibly well cooked. Very good red wine and the staff really look after you. I've been when it's been quiet (Tuesday evening) and on a weekend and found the food and service both to be top notch consistently. Creme brulee was cracking too! Highly recommend.

Very flavourful halibut plate and good deserts with excellent presentation. A good wine will not cost an arm and a leg, and the service is excellent. Previous review... Frites were floppy, but mussels marvelous. Best onion soup ever. Sure we will rate Cognac a five on our next visit. Service top notch. An authentic French atmosphere.
Barbara B — Google review
Went to cognac on a date with my partner, we have spoken about trying this place for months, I had the martini Parisian cocktail and my partner had the French kiss, he found his cocktail lovely but only if it was a dessert cocktail. I quite enjoyed mine it didn’t taste alcoholic though. I had the calamari to start, when it arrived I was surprised as the calamari was bartered for some reason I thought it wouldn’t be anyway, it wasn’t the nicest it did kind of taste like the ones you could get from the premium range at Tescos. My partner had the muscles which where truly incredible. Oh my goodness for my mains I had beef bourguignon which was absolutely incredible, the meat was so lovely and melted in your mouth, my partner had the filet mignon which was amazing and the mash was just amazing. We will 100% be coming back. If you get the chance to go then please go. Also the bar staff and the service staff were very attentive and kind, I couldn’t fault them

First time visiting this evening and was the best dining experience in years. Staff extremely attentive and knowledgeable on the menu, including how certain items on the menu are cooked, how they taste etc. Service very quick and consistent. The food was absolutely incredible on both presentation and taste, I was lost for words. Interior was very comfortable with a range of seating, atmosphere romantic and relaxing. Special mention to Paulo (manager, presumably) for looking after us so well for the entire evening and compliments to the chef for such lovely food. We will definitely be back soon.

It's a typical 'Spoons', nothing more, nothing less. Cheap drinks and Food. Affordable tasty pub grub. Had the Buttermilk Chicken Burger that comes with Chips and a San Miguel, plus 12 Onion Rings for a total of 12GBP. Food was fresh and tasty, Beer crisp and cold. Nothing wrong here!

A typical Wetherspoons pub with table service available through the mobile app. A lovely building which looked like an old bank. A massive enclosed beer garden at the rear with lots of space and seating. Food and drink up to usual Spoons standard and always great value for money!

I hadn't realised that Spoons served food till 11pm! Life saver after our evening walk took a lot longer than expected. Usual reasonable prices, plenty of space and not too long to wait for the food! 10 pm on a Wednesday night.

Went it on Tuesday after work. Had a lovely conversation with one of the bar staff believe he said his name was Matty. Was an extremely polite individual. Got a couple of drinks and every time I went to the bar he was always upselling. Offering me doubles and for this reason and how polite he was I definitely didn’t decline. Will be returning Marty was a great chap.
Harley L — Google review
My review relates to bar service only and not accommodation or food. It was a Tuesday night; four staff were on the bar. It was about 9:30pm and not particularly busy. There was only one member of bar staff serving. Three other bar staff walked past me on several occasions for the 10 minutes that I stood at the bar, waiting to be served. Most bars would prioritise customer service over restocking the fridges or clearing glasses - but not the staff at this venue. Or, they might have said, “Someone will be with you shortly”, but not this venue. Eventually, when a member of the bar staff recognised that I existed and wanted service, their response to the lack of service is that “I’m a busy person.” At this point, I asked to see the manager. When the manager spoke with me, there was no sense of remorse or the concept that the customer expects to be service in a timely manner and without attitude. The manager’s response was that they “were busy”. My assessment is that there was less than 15 people in the venue and four service staff, plus a manager. That is not busy! After some encouragement, the manager reluctantly apologised for the lack of service offered and the attitude of the staff member with attitude. Will I be back? NEVER. Both because of the attitude of the manager, in not being apologetic until pushed to apologise (and even when the apology was offered, there was no real sense of regret); and the bar staff who failed to realise that I am a customer and that, like all customers, I expect service in a timely manner and certainly , without lip and attitude. It’s regrettable that this level of service and attitude existed on, what I experienced, was a very quiet night. Let’s hope they learn from this experience.

Came here to get some breakfast after getting off the ferry with the wife. Thankfully I went to the toilet before ordering. The corridor floor on the way to the toilets were all sticky and grubby and the toilets were very unclean. This was at 8:30 in the morning when you'd like to think they would be at there cleanest. One toilets had skid marks all down the back of the pot the other looked like someone had peed on the toilet seat and dried on. The floor's tiles were filthy, thick of dirt round the edges especially. One hand drier was bagged up due to being out of use and the other one just didn't working leaving you with no where to dry your hands. we left our drinks that we had got on the way in and found a lovely cafe just down the road

Roots Rum Shack and Kitchen is a vibrant Jamaica-themed restaurant and bar located on Newland Avenue. The laid-back space offers outdoor seating and is known for its delicious curry goat and popular cocktails. The establishment has garnered a loyal following, with customers praising the atmospheric and friendly ambiance, as well as the impressive and colorful decor. In addition to classic favorites like the Caribbean Porn Star Martini, Roots also offers unique beverages such as the Cubra Libre.
I recently visited Roots Rum and Shack on a Thursday evening with a few of my old coursemates, and it was such a vibe from start to finish! First of all, Thursday is definitely the day to go they offer half-price food, which was the perfect excuse for us to indulge a little more. We ordered a mix of dishes to share and everything exceeded our expectations. The platter was a great starter to get a little bit of everything, but the real stars for me were the rice & peas with sauce, the soft, flavourful oxtails, and the absolute showstopper: the grilled chicken wings with their special Havana sauce seriously some of the best wings I’ve had in a long time. We also had a couple of cocktails and let me tell you ,they were banging! Super tasty, well-balanced, and definitely added to the whole experience. The atmosphere was lit — good energy, friendly staff, and great background music that set the perfect tone for a chilled evening with friends. We were able to catch up, eat amazing food, and just enjoy the whole vibe. If you’re looking for somewhere in town with proper Caribbean flavour, good drinks, and a fun atmosphere definitely check out Roots Rum and Shack, especially on a Thursday!

Went in for their £9.95 (if I remember) lunch deal from 12 - 4, ordered myself a ginger beer and a Santiago chicken with chips and salad. The ginger beer was on-par, lip-smacking flavour, the same for the Santiago chicken, with that tang, the spice, everything! For a cheeky tipple, you can explore their wide range of Caribbean-inspired cocktails, and also their numerous rums, spirits and more from across the Caribbean and beyond. Thank you, Rhys.

I went to roots when it first opened pre covid, years ago! And going back now, it's just gotten better. Lovely atmosphere, beautiful food, presented stunningly. The atmosphere is chilled, and open to any occasion. Took my kids (17 year old twins) and it was simply perfect. Son has lamb chops, my pescetarian daughter had the shrimp, and as I eat small amounts (barbaric surgery 6 years ago) I ordered from the small bites menu and was stuffed! Highly recommended, perfect for a midweek chill out meal, or a weekend night out.

My nephew introduced me to this pub on the 21st December. I loved it! It was a cold frosty evening and we managed to find a table although the place was crowded. It was warm and welcoming. Fab, helpful and friendly staff with a relaxing atmosphere. The smoking area out back is one of the best I've seen and some of the seating alcoves are actually heated. We went there again last night but last orders were called at 21:45. Oh well, it was Christmas Eve... Recommended.

Was expecting much from this place on first visit, but underwhelmed. Service was surly and unwelcoming. Food took ages, and my lasagne had been heated for so long the sauce was burnt around the edges and to the dish. The beer was the worst I'd drank in Hull (Good Beer Guide, how?). Pricy food too.

Went here a bit later at night on a saturday, so as a result i was in here just to drink, seemingly like everyone else in there, but the food looked good from images on menus, online etc and i have heard good things before. As for my personal experience, the drinks were very good, a nice selection of beers on draught, not many cocktails on offer (be aware me and my friends found a cocktail menu for this place online and upon attempting to buy them the staff did not know what they were and it turned out this online menu was very very old, please keep in mind i am not blaming the very friendly and helpful staff at all, or even the business in general, just be aware if you also stumble across this online) the cocktails they did offer were tasty, as were the beers i mentioned before. The outdoor seating area was beautiful and very large, with undercover seating areas in sheds, under canopies etc, they also had a very large shed with seats etc inside but this was closed for a private event. As i mentioned before, the staff were lovely. Slightly expensive but i do not mind this at all in such a lovely place. Highly recommend

A large party of us were booked in last night and they did a great job of looking after all of us. Everyone said it was great but I’ll just speak for myself. I ordered the ribs which was absolutely massive and really nice. It’s a good job I was hungry because it was a very generous portion. It was cooked nice and tender and the meat fell off the bone. It’s a messy dish to eat out possibly but they even brought us a lemon finger bowl. The bbq pot that was served with it was tasty, quite thin but tasty and at £16.50 I think it was, good value . We’ve been lots over the years and look forward to going again.

Friendly service from beginning to the end and from all the staff including the manager. Family friendly place as we were 6 adults and a toddler. Decent lunch menu and we ordered omelette (£7.25) and cod fish cakes (£7.95). Big portion at reasonable price. Tasted great. Highly recommended on Newland Avenue.

We have eaten here many times before, ( all ok)However today 12/9/25 just drinks were ordered. We sat out in the beer garden, and it's the ONE STAR I'm giving this area: It was tacky, sticky and looked un-kept! The lovely young blonde waitress was rushed off her feet, here there and everywhere! Serving food, wiping tables, serving drinks etc etc, I requested our table needed a cleaned she attended to it straight away, apologising, Thank you. My point is.....the outside looked dirty, grubby! YOU can't not cut corners in a food establish ment, Hygeine is paramount! the plastic grass needs replacing, the tables etc need a re- paint! LARKINS... A full time cleaner needs to be employed and not rely on a over worked waitress to keep things tidy/ clean. 1 star given for the un- hygienic setting outside. 5 stars to the pleasant hard working waitress.
Sharon N — Google review
Great bit of food and an amazing selection of beer and the venue is great only down side was that as it was very busy and only two staff on the bar getting drinks was very slow . Other than that was a very pleasant evening and I will be going again

Nice bar. Furnitures abit worn but nice rustic feel. Food is grim for price. Especially the chips! Uncooked I left the entire lot and wasn’t the only one looking around. The wraps are obviously reheated, tasted like yesterday’s leftovers. Shame for £15. Maybe just go for drinks and music.

Went to the dog cafe as it was recommended. 2 dogs and 3 humans visited. Dogs had treats, mixed feelings about doggie treats, one scoffed the lot, the other ate half and went off to explore. The service from the staff was fabulous, so enthusiastic and made us feel so welcome. Humans had breakfast wraps and kids meal. All presented very nicely and tasted great. A gem of a place with or without a dog.

Really love it here. I’m a real cider fan and they have a few here. The staff are very welcoming and Friendly. The food is amazing, had a hunters chicken burger and wanna try their giant Yorkshire pudding wraps next time. It’s located just outside the shopping centre. I highly recommend this place.

The Beech Tree is a popular pub known for its wide range of beers, lagers, and ciders, including hand-pulled real ales. Visitors have praised the excellent service and friendly staff. The food is highly regarded, and the pub also offers live entertainment. While it's a chain pub with standard fare, many have found the food and service to be surprisingly good at reasonable prices. Families are welcome here, as it's considered a safe and friendly environment for all ages.
The Beech Tree Inn at Willoughby left a lasting impression on me. From the moment I stepped in, the friendly staff made me feel right at home. Their welcoming smiles and attentive service set the tone for a fantastic dining experience. But the real star of the show was the food. Every dish was a culinary masterpiece, bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. It was clear that the chefs poured their heart and soul into creating a memorable menu. I left the Beech Tree Inn feeling thoroughly satisfied and already planning my next visit. If you're looking for a place with exceptional food and warm hospitality, this is the place to be. I wholeheartedly recommend it!

Amazing food, excellent service. We ordered the pork belly steak with mash potatoes. For dessert we ordered the Eton Mess, apple pie and Belgian chocolate brownie.

First time visiting and got to say this place is really nice and now one of our favourite places to eat. Food is amazing

Called in for lunch, order two meals, bacon chop nicely cooked unfortunately the cook needs a lot of practice on how to cook an egg and to griddle off the pineapple and not leave it raw and to remove the core. Nice pub, staff waiting on our table looked really unhappy being there! Don’t think I’d spend my money there again.

We called in to this lovely local pub for an evening meal. The pub was busy, however we where quickly assisted in finding a table. We ordered food at the bar which was quick and hassle free. The food was delivered to our tableĺ quickly in good time (approx 15 minutes) which was impressive considering how busy the pub was. The food was brilliant. Good portion size and hot. All in all, The Beechtree is a friendly local pub. With a brilliant atmosphere and great service. We'll certainly be back.

After waiting 49 minutes from ordering, my food arrived and to my astonishment the size of the portion was laughable. I ordered a classic chicken burger and chips and it was so small I thought it was a children’s meal. The “salad” was two tiny lettuce leaves and the chips were in a small ramekin. What made it worse was that it was served on a plate way too big. My friend ordered the peri peri chicken skewer which arrived at the table cold and after mentioning this was presented back to us, with a “there you go” after obviously being blasted in the microwave. Nice pub but the food was a massive let down. Won’t be going back.

Went for a work evening meal. Nice ambience, one of us had allergy the girl that served us was absolutely brilliant, she missed one thing off the order and admitted her fault, corrected it and gave her a free drink. She was very polite. Her name was Almera......food was nice. Hot. Cooked well.

Nestled on Princess Avenue, the Marquis Of Granby is a vibrant bar that promises an unforgettable experience. With its lively atmosphere, especially on Saturday nights when a DJ spins classic house anthems, it draws in a diverse crowd eager to hit the dance floor. The friendly staff, including door personnel, contribute to the welcoming vibe that keeps patrons coming back for more. Just a short drive from Spurn Bird Observatory, this establishment also offers cozy accommodations with six rooms and complimentary private parking for guests.
What an amazing night the staff were amazing and despite some difficult customers kept smiling the whole night, the place was electric with a live band and it was fabulous. Before everything got going other people around had food which looked amazing and they had good things to say so will visit again for food and especially for another live event, well done to all who made it possible the Kingsmen were brilliant.

New owner Kyle deserves this review. Popped in on Saturday 4 adults with my Grandaughter. Couldn't of made us more welcome. We came back in the evening for meals which were fantastic, the atmosphere was brilliant, everyone just enjoying themselves. Definitely spreading the word amongst the caravan owners. Well done and good luck for the future.

Great atmosphere as per. Sometimes struggle to get served because of how busy it is. But the girl with black hair (Bambi I think) pretty much saved mine and my mates night for my birthday. Fast service good attitude to work and great banter. An asset to the staff here
Mathew J — Google review
Possibly the worst pub meal I've ever had. Scampi chips and peas. The peas were like bullets; it takes real effort to ruin frozen peas. The scampi was undercooked and like mush. The only positive was the chips, which were good. Another person at the table had the chippie feast which came with stale bread and when she asked for it to be replaced they brought more stale bread. The cook clearly doesn't care or have any pride in what they serve up.

Pave is a Gastropub located in Princes Ave with a great selection of craft beers, ample seating inside and out, and nightly events. The gastropub has apleasant atmosphere and offers good choice of beers.
Pave is a popular bar in some former shops, the original tiles from the old butchers shop are still on show. There is an excellent choice of beers lager and cider including some cask conditioned real ales which were in excellent condition when I called in. This modern bar is nicely done out. There is an outside seating area at the front, the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Pave is deservedly listed in The Good Beer Guide. Dog friendly, highly recommended.
Andrew N — Google review
I do like this place, it used to have a reputation as the place to be with food and live music, neither are there anymore but I am a beer drinker so no loss there. Just a little on the expensive side, around £12 for two bottles of lagers, otherwise I love the place and would come more if they brought the prices down.
Chris R — Google review
Went for lunch last Sunday. Menu is thorough and has a large selection of vegetarian options. I had the house burger with blue cheese which was great- my brother had a vegetarian platter which looked amazing. Prices are on par for the area (nearly £5 for a pint of Brooklyn was a bit of an eye opener but to be expected). Large beer garden in the rear which was useful as the live music was not exactly to my taste and pretty loud when attempting to eat and chat... Pave is the original 'bar' on Princes Avenue so if you want to see how it all began then it's worth a visit... Just don't expect much change from a round of drinks.

Pave is more of a bar than a traditional pub, offering an array of interesting drink choices that, while not quite to my taste, are sure to appeal to adventurous palates. The kind staff provide excellent service, ensuring a pleasant visit. With good seating options both inside and outside, Pave creates a comfortable environment in a good area, making it a popular spot for those looking to try something new in a relaxed setting.

I've been going here for many years but tonight I was blown away by their amazing service and compassion. We were the last to leave and my gf was a little worse for ware. The 3 young staff were lovely and so kind to book us a taxi and let us remain in the venue until it arrived. Absolutely above and beyond the level of service expected...especially the young girl with glasses. So nice to us and a credit to the establishment and the community vibe on Princes av which is unmatched anywhere in the city.
Andy F — Google review
I've always liked Pave, I remember it opening. It's an easy going place, with a decent selection of drinks. It's not the most plush of pubs but not a dive at all, because of this, it keeps it to a nice atmosphere where you can have a drink and a chat with companions. I've only marked it down for the atmosphere because it was very quiet when we visited. In short, nice pub. I hope it carries on for years to come.

The Crooked Skewer, with its intriguing name and inviting facade, catches the attention of locals strolling along Princes Avenue. However, it is not just the restaurant's appearance that draws customers in; it is also their delectable cuisine that keeps them coming back for more. The eatery boasts a diverse and unique menu filled with flavorful rice dishes, curries, and delightful desserts perfect for sharing among large groups of friends.
Could not recommend this place more if I tried, it's amazing! The food is perfect. So much variety and flavour. The staff are so genuine and polite, always checking if everything is okay and that their customers are satisfied. The lighting is lovely and the decor of the restaurant is stunning so overall the vibe is just wonderful. The whole experience is definitely worth the money, you will not regret going there!! A huge thank you to the staff who provided an excellent service to my friends and I. Keep up the great work!

Well the wife & I were booked in at 6pm. We turned up and downstairs was very busy. It's not very spacious so social distancing was very hard. We were seated in the roof section where tables nearly touch each other. It took 20 yes 20 minutes to get our drinks. Another 40 minutes passed and I went down to ask about our food, went back up and a couple that had been there 10 minutes were served presumably our food. On tables are large bin type things, one had an old chicken bone in it. We got our food at nearly 7pm. We had 4 skewers. 2 chicken wings on one, 3 (yep we cut one in half) veg pasty things on another and 1 with chicken and 1 with pork (possibly). Tables next and behind us got good but had no plates. A service door kept swinging open, took me 3 goes to keep it shut. Staff just shoved it and it would swing open. With the skewers came 6 small pots of curry chicken (2) a plain rice and lentil curry plus one dry chicken one that were all very mildly spiced, korma or masala level plus a Greek salad !. We wasn't asked if we wanted another drink as well. They may have an award winner in Beverley, but this certainly isn't. Very bsd service, also I didn't realise till we got home that I'd been charged 42 quid. The meal was 20, we had 1 bottle of wine and 1 beer. Lack lustre food, bad service and overcrowded. Stick with one restaurant and do well.

Got the DIY curry kit and OMG best curry I've had in ages, we went for the buna lots of chicken and every thing else lol easy feed four people full of amazing flavour couldn't believe how easy it was defiantly an easy cook and impressed the wife winner all round . Would definitely recommend and go again well done 👏
Daren W — Google review
Food is delicious, I think a lot of people are not realising its all you can eat meaning all curry's, rice, dips, sides etc can be ordered again. You try all the small bowls and then ask for more of the things you like, which is a brilliant idea to stop food waste. The BBQ skewers cannot be ordered again for free however you can pay for more if you like however there is so much available in terms of curry, bread, noodles, rice and salad that I found it unnecessary to order much more than extra butter masala, bread and samosas (of which we probably nearly depleted the stock haha!) Drinks prices are on pare with the rest of the venues on Princes Avenue which is fine, and there's a good selection available.
Jacinta H — Google review
nice lamb skewers with the familar taste I have cravings for sufficient noodles and rice to marry the mysterious sauce. colourful prawn crackers remind me of my fathers treat in the past.. set meal is worthy ordering. -a raining night there with friends

Amazing food @ The Crooked Skewer on Princess Ave. Probably the most delicious combination of flavours that we have tasted in a long time! This was on a Groupon and we were both somewhat dubious after reading some of the reviews last night🙈 Couldn't fault the food and will definitely go back again. Bonus too that the music was fantastic 👌
Karen H — Google review
The Crooked Skewer is delicious, they have a unique all you can eat around the world offer where you get world BBQ marinaded skewers and a selection of Indian inspired street food, curries and sides. You can order more of the curries and sides if you want but you get quite a lot anyway. If you do manage to eat all of the delicious mains, dessert is also included, which has an exciting twist. It's also incredibly reasonably priced normally costing £22.95 per person I think but currently they have a special deal Monday-Wednesday where you get £10 off and Thursday-Sunday you get £5 off. In addition to the amazing food, the setting and decor is really nice, they have custom tables with slots for the sauces, glasses and a box for cutlery and it all feels very covid safe with the tables being spaced apart. The serving staff were also very nice and accommodating. And as if this wasn't already enough, they also do takeaway and DIY kits which I definitely want to try. I would definitely recommend trying this place, I can't wait to go back!

An absolutely outstanding dining experience. With the warmest of greetings from the most personable owner, we were quickly attended to. We were served the tasting menu, which was one of the best mix of dishes I've had in a long while. The ingredients had clearly been carefully thought out, creating a fantastic array of street food tastes. Though we could have asked for more, the portions were actually perfect. We can't wait to return with the rest of the family. Thank you so much Crooked Skewer.

Me and my friend came here last week for a bottomless brunch. We had the pleasure of holding a baby shower here, and I couldn’t recommend Accomplice for gatherings more. Beautifully decorated bar with a great atmosphere. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate all of our request’s. The venue feels so intimate, like you have the place to yourselves! The staff are very kind, friendly and accommodating. Food was lovely, and for a party of 20 (without having to pre-order!!) it was all served hot and came out at the same time. Soo much choice for drinks & the cocktails are amazing. Thank you to all of the helpful, lovely team at Accomplice. X

Went for lunch here on Sunday. Place was quiet so no problem seating 8 of us. Food is priced on par for the area as are drinks- £4 for a pint of Heineken. Service was friendly and quick. I had the sirloin steak burger which was substantial and tasty. I wish it was served on a plate so I didn't have to deal with a basket of fries but that's a small complaint. My only real gripe is that there are so many bars in the area that feel a bit identikit... Similar menus, drinks and atmosphere. Still, I would recommend this place to any in the area.

Just... Stunning. Incredible Sunday lunch, just spectacular. Amazing gravy, feels like it's been cooking a week. Dog friendly and will serve a dog bowl too! Lovely wine list, great bunch of people too. Side dishes and starters superb - recommend the terrine and camembert but they do change periodically. Not a large place and only open a few days a week, but very comfortable, reasonably priced too for possibly the best Sunday lunch in Hull. If not the world. I can't recommend it highly enough, unless you're a vegetarian. Sorry folks. Utterly, utterly brilliant food, congratulations to both Rupert and Darwin(!)

First impressions on this newly opened restaurant are fantastic. The friendly welcome and beautiful decor are a credit to the staff. We went on a Sunday afternoon and the menu options were just right (includes a well thought childrens menu). I had muscles to start, roast beef main and sticky toffee pudding to finish. What's not to like, the food was cooked perfectly and tasted as good as it looked. This delicious meal was washed down with a superb bottle of red (not all to myself). If you fancy treating yourself I would definitely recommend you try out this new restaurant.

Sublime. We visited Rupert & Darwin on a Sunday for lunch and the whole experience was excellent from A to Z (James!) The food was gorgeous, and you can definitely tell they have a lot of passion for what they do in the kitchen. The service was very friendly, it felt as if we were guests in a friend’s house. What really amazed us was how genuinely friendly they were with our dog. Many places claim to be dog friendly, but in reality they are merely dog tolerant. Not this establishment! You could tell they enjoyed interacting with our dog, no matter how fussy she would get. Rupert & Darwin had earned a special place in our heart and we can not wait to go back. Thanks to everyone who looked after us.

The George Hotel, located on the quaint Land of Green Ginger Street, is a historic pub dating back to 1683. Renovated two years ago, it still retains its period fittings and is famous for being home to England's smallest window. The building has a rich history and is rumored to be haunted by a few ghosts. The hotel offers various events throughout the week including comedy nights, music bingo, live artists and bands, as well as live sports with commentary.

Not worth the stress. Place might look decent from the outside, but the vibe gets killed real quick thanks to the security. Bouncers were seriously aggressive for no reason—talking down to people, shoving past without a word. It’s like they’re looking for a fight instead of doing their job. Whole experience felt tense and uncomfortable. There are plenty of other venues where you can actually relax and enjoy yourself—this isn’t one of them.
Adintellitech — Google review
Name says it all!!! Great little sticky dance floor club/pub, trashy as hell which was great! Recommended after you have had a few!

Great place if you like being treated like a nuisance. The bouncers seem to think they’re in a UFC match rather than working at a club. No communication, just attitude and aggression. Didn’t even feel like a customer—more like an inconvenience the moment I walked in. Save yourself the hassle and go somewhere that actually values the people keeping them in business.

This old historic building has been sympathetically turned into a nice trendy bar. The main bar is very large with a high vaulted ceiling. There are some smaller rooms off the main bar. The staff were very friendly. There is a good selection of beers, lagers, and cider. They do a very good range of reasonably priced cocktails. Sadly, no cask conditioned real ale. It's a nice bar with a good atmosphere.

Great bar, great staff, great drinks. Good selection of pints, spirits, and bottles. The brunch events are great with live performers and deals on drinks, and you can get a food platter to go with. Music and atmosphere is great. They have pool tables and beer pong to entertain yourself with, too. Old Town staple. No longer a restaurant, just a bar.

Pub
The Manchester Arms is a historic and unique pub located in the heart of Hull's Old Town. Despite its rumored haunted status, it remains a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. The friendly staff, wide selection of drinks including beer, lager, cider, and spirits make it an inviting place to gather with friends and family. While some may find the modernized interior slightly off-putting, the outdoor seating area adds to its charm.
This was a relaxing pub for drinking, with a throwback design incorporating lights during the Christmas season! The lining throughout and frames on the wall add to this design, counter is neat and staff were welcoming. I enjoyed a pint of San Miguel, sitting at the comfortable cushioned seating in the cleanliness of the quiet area!

What an amazing place this is. Staff are brilliant and landlady shaunilee is the most amazing host. We were visiting from out of town and she gave us a 20% discount offer, we were made to feel so welcome, and what a credit to Hull they are. Be sure to give them a visit when you’re there. Helen and Andy from Chester.

Went in for a pint last night. We were the only customers except bar staff and what I assume was bar staffs friends taking down xmas decs. Pints were OK but expensive for the venue. Looks quite run down when it's not busy. Only ended up having one and moved on elsewhere.

Lovely little pub, staff are friendly, never been in before but will be visiting again was made to welcome, Lovely pint even though it was a bit expensive.

Great traditional old boozer, quality drinks served by friendly staff, spotlessly clean toilets, pub could do to be a bit warmer but a whisky helps that, lovely pub dog too

Had a great time recently the landlady and staff very friendly 🥰also first time I have been into Manchester arms since the new landlady took over and was very please it looks very clean and you can actually see through the windows and no longer stick to the floor which is always a bonus.🤣

Old historic pub in the heart of Hull's Old Town. The staff are friendly and welcoming. There is a good choice of beers lager and cider including real ales served on hand pumps. The modernised interior slightly spoils it. There is outside seating area at the front of the pub. Within a few hundred yards of six pubs ideally placed for a pub crawl, it is definitely worth a visit.

Found this is the only way to leave a review for lee humphries which is strange. I had a tattoo coming up to nearly a year ago and was extremely disappointed. What was even worse was the fact the multiple times my fiancé had reached out via message to voice my concern we were left with most messages on read and a very unprofessional response from Lee. He clearly didn’t care. The tattoo is very patchy and looks absolutely nothing like when I first had it done, such a shame considering this was my first (and most definitely my last tattoo) it has completely put me off having tattoos in the future and I am now looking at having laser to remove it. All I wanted was to have the problem resolved but he gave me absolutely nothing. Would not recommend wasting your money and look elsewhere for a more professional experience.

Nestled in a vibrant area, the Queens Hotel is more than just a place to grab a drink; it’s an inviting haven where everyone feels at home. With its rich history as an Edwardian hotel and former student hangout, this charming pub has evolved into a diverse gathering spot that welcomes all. The friendly staff, especially Li, who has been there for years, ensure that every visit feels special—whether you're stopping by solo or with friends.
Came to watch the football. Nice and relaxed turned the music down so we could hear the commentary. Brilliant All staff were super polite and pints were spot on.
Ethan T — Google review
I have been using the Queens pub on and off since 1991 when I was in my early 20s. It was known then as a student pub. Now it is more diverse. It is a wonderful old traditional pub. Once an Edwardian Hotel, and former haunt of students, it is very Bohemian and has a laid back welcome all atmosphere. I don't know the manager, but Li, the longest serving staff member has always made us feel very welcome especially on a cold January day. Often it is the staff that make you use one pub over another. The Queens is still wonderfully untouched.
Simon D — Google review
Where do I start, the Queens pub has been like a second home to me for many years now. Everyone here is so friendly it’s the kind of place you can go on your own and not be worried. Staff are very friendly too and can always have a laugh with them. The music is mostly always on point especially when Pete is in. It has a great beer garden with plenty of seating with a smaller smoking hut with a roof so great for when it’s raining. All in all a great pub with great people. I’d definitely recommend to any one of any age and any calibre.

Always used this Place as in my opinion was a good Chinese. Haven't been in a while but ordered Saturday night and was very disappointed. Ordered Special Curry & Fried rice, the rice tasted fusty and stale and the quantity and quality of the meats in the curry was very POOR, some unedible. Service was polite but very abrupt. Would not order again.

Without a doubt the worst Chinese food I've ever had. There were items missing from the order, the food was late and cold on arrival. The crispy duck was just scrap ends and not worth it all. Avoid!

13.07.24. Updating my review as no longer great/fab food. Ordered vegatable fried rice it only had a few peas, the end of a carrot, 5 waterchestnuts, beansprouts & 2 slices of green pepper. Also a beef chow mein which didn't have much beef in it & what was in it was gristle. Not very hot when I got home & only live 2 mins away. Will not be back. ☹ Been going to this Chinese for at least 3 years love it. Food fab & piping hot, great portions. 💗

I always give a restaurant a chance just in case it's a one of we all have bad days. However this one has been going downhill for a while now. The last 3 orders we have had have been far from up to scratch. The chips are hard and have clearly been reheated, the curry was very salty and the chicken often seems just not quite cooked enough. The chicken balls were really oily and despite ordering a mushroom curry we got a beef curry not good if you are a vegetarian. I understand that places get busy but despite ordering on different days at different times having to wait 2 hours on 2 separate occasions is just not good enough. Unfortunately this is one place I will be avoiding for the foreseeable future.

I am giving this place a 5 star for the kindness of a front door security man. He saw me and my child standing in the rain waiting to be picked up last Sunday. He came across the road with the umbrella and just gave it to us. People are not kind anymore and usually prefer to stick their faces into the phone screen that to look around and help… this is why we massively appreciate the gesture. Real gentleman. The Mission, located in Posterngate, is a unique and quirky venue housed in a former church for Hull's seamen. The building has been converted into an excellent pub with different levels and areas, including the former chapel with stained glass windows and free-to-play pool tables.
A very historical building. Loads of original features. Stained glass windows. A great, huge space. Pool, shuffle board.. you name it.. it is here. Photo booth too! During the day... relaxed and buffet style food. Drinks... wid orange.. reasonable pricing. Service... friendly and efficient. Layout.. as it was a religious building.. spacious and heritage kept. Great slice of pizza, I went when it was 50% off the all you can eat Detroit Deep Dish! Plenty of pizza, the team was really hard working, by the end of the day they’ve done over 55 deep dishes. All dough was prepped in house, quality ingredients too. Staff were really busy making it hard to get a pint 😆

Recommend 👍 Disclaimer: This is not a food review, I haven't tried it yet. Affordable place to play pool. It has some nice aesthetic to it with a british style. There are 4 pool tables in what looks to be a refurbished small church which looks great. You get unlimited pool games when you buy a drink! The pool tables are fine but some cues are not usable. There are no snooker tables.

We came today at around 12:30pm it wasn’t too busy but started to pick up as we was leaving about an hour later I’ll start with the cleanliness of the building - not a cobweb or speck of dust in site and the toilets smelt like cleaning products which shows the establishment is well looked after. Staff - hats off to the staff they was smiling, friendly and very professional. One member of staff stood out to us straight away and that was the gentleman with the dark hair that served us our carvery, as we didn’t even need to speak he greeted us, told us what meat selection they had and even made us aware that the handles was hot on the carvery. He then had a laugh and a conversation with us he was so professional so friendly and just really left a great impression on how the staff are at Mission. The food - We was soooooo impressed with the food, we each got a carvery I got pork, my mother in law got turkey and my partner got beef so we could all try a different meat, we got all the veg and Yorkshires with it and it was beautiful one of the best carveries I’ve had in a long time my favourite had to be their roasties!!!! And they had a choice of normal gravy or onion gravy which I was super impressed with because it’s not something you always see. Payment - We payed a total of £38.50 which got us 3 carveries at £9.95per person, 2 Pepsi max’s and a pineapple juice which I think is amazing for 3 people

Occupying an imposing corner plot near to Drypool bridge. They serve a good range of ales as well as the usual drinks. Main bar area at the front and then follows a large seating area with big TVs playing the daily sports events. We'd booked a table for food and wasn't disappointed with the tasty Hull Pies with chips/mash, peas and gravy. It can get quite noisy with those watching the TV but it's worth a visit. Not a great deal of parking nearby only on the street and pay display.

Fantastic venue for a private function. We hired the function room on Friday night- couldn’t have asked for anything more. The room was spotless, the buffet was huge and also lovely and fresh. The New Adelphi Club is a historic live music venue that has been around for over 20 years. The venue offers an intimate setting for enjoying live performances while also featuring a separate front room with pool and real ales.
A proper gig venue. Not been for a few years, but just as i remember it. Saw The Miki Berenyi Trio last week, favorite gigs include David Devant, and also the Blue Aeroplanes back in about 1992 touring their "Swagger" album.

A really good venue for up close and personal gigs. We saw The Bug Club there tonight (31/08/24) and it was brilliant! Great sound and lighting, good ale from the bar, and respectful punters who didn't talk during the performance, mostly. The stage could do with being a tad bit higher so you can see the band over the heads of those in front, and the toilets could do with upgrading, but otherwise a super venue. The Bug Club were amazing, hope you get them on again.

I go there quite a lot. It's got a legendary status for a reason. Yes it's small, but by god it's awesome. The atmosphere is great, so many large sports matches to watch. I went for a comedy night which was anything but. Floor and tables were sticky and the cigarette smoke from outside was hugely unpopular, the smokers might as well have been inside...

Literally just popped in because it was cold and was stood at the cash machine across the road. Very glad I did, good atmosphere and the live music they had on at the time was ace. Fan of the flaming zombie too. It's a bit pricey but if you love run it will do the trick.

Good little bar in summer. Unfortunately it seems the door staff run the place ! On a cold wet night door staff insisted on having door wide open, the 30 or so people in the bar all having to wear big coats to stay warm. Asked if I could close door but was told no, couldn't give an explanation why.

Love this bar, always the bar we start off in when we go around town. It's only a small bar but suprising many people it can fit in and come 10 o clock on a Saturday night it's always busy. Mark the doorman is lovely and always does a good job to look after everyone. Good music and the drinks are resonobly priced.

Great craft beer & cider available at this Humber Street venue. Cool modern bar ..great atmosphere .Wide range of craft beers & real ales & ciders. Pan Asian street food available. Games room at back of premises for added entertainment.

We went last month, so many beers to choose from but the descriptions on the boards all the selections we made were perfect for us. And the food was great!! Tasty, great value for money and want to go back.

Safe to say don’t think I will be returning for food. Me and my partner spent £28 on loaded fries and the quality was appalling, ‘chicken’ was terrible partner didn’t even entertain it and I ate 2 bits and left the rest. Very poor quality and very overpriced.
Layton G — Google review
Absolutely fantastic bar / eatery down at the marina. We didn’t eat here but the food looked great at it was full of local business people which is always a good sign. They staff are brilliant; very friendly and knowledgeable. They have a massive range of beers, ciders, craft ales and lagers. A must visit place if you’re in Hull.

An industrial style taphouse in the marina. Some comfy booths..I suspect it would be a loud place when busy. A good range of whatever your pint is as pictured....the Freedom lager worked for me. A Pan-Asian street food kitchen has a mixed menu.

Really love this place, it has a fantastic selection of craft beers and ciders including a couple Lilley's cider on draft (my favourite). Indoor and outdoor covered seating and in the back room is a few electronic dart boards which are great fun.
Jackie W — Google review
Me and my partner ordered a rice bowl and ramen, and they were genuinely painful to eat on account of them both being dowsed in chilli oil and chilis, this would be fine however the menu didn’t mention anything about chilis on either dish. We couldn’t eat the meals for the heat, we informed staff and instead ordered a burger to share, we paid and sat down, to then be informed the kitchen was closed and we had to order something else, which had to being ‘anything fried’ from the small plates menu. Overall not happy at all with the food service…. Good beers though.

Rugby Tavern is a 70s style, no phone pub that gives off an atmosphere of nostalgia. It's a great place to catch up with friends over a beer and conversation and there's no food or noise interference. I'm glad I discovered it and plan to come back soon!
Classic boozer. Lovely ale at a very reasonable price. It is a Samuel's pub, so there is a no electronics or swearing rule—as long as it's not excessive of disrupting others, I think you're ok. Just don't take the mickey. I was reading though, so it was perfect for a quiet, good quality pint. Fantastic staff too.

Quiet place. It's a Sam Smiths pub so plenty of Sam Smiths taps and bottles. Taps are ridiculously cheap. I paid 2.30 for a pint of SS stout. No wifi

If you like Sam Smith's you'll love it here. I did.
M F — Google review
Wasn't told on entry it was a no phone pub and this was mentioned when I sat down to make a call. At first I was offended as I remember it being a biker bar many years ago, but when I thought about it, it's appealing . It gives a 70s feel, beer and conversation, no food or noise. I'm converted and look forward to my next visit .

£3 a pint for decent ale, lager and cider. Pool table, darts, friendly staff. What more could you need? Will definitely go back. Doesn't do food (apart from crisps). Vegan friendly!

Nice little boozer, quirky, locals seem friendly. No mainstream beers, they sell like homebrew stuff, not to my taste but fairly priced and something a bit different

The Bonnie boat is a former Hull Brewery pub that has been refurbished and modernized, but still Retaining it's nice cozy charm. Originally one of two pubs on this street it is now one of six as the once run down old town has become very popular and trendy. There is a decent selection of beers and lagers but sadly no hand pulled cask conditioned real ale. It is very popular and busy especially on a Saturday afternoon, the staff are friendly, and there is outside seating.

The Telstar bar is in some old offices. The conversion has been really well done, it's a large spacious bar with plenty of TVs around for watching Sport. There's a wide variety of beers, lagers and cider on offer but no cask conditioned real ale. During weekday afternoons a lot of beers are incredibly cheap at only two pound a pint. The staff are very friendly and there is a pool table tucked away in a nice quiet corner. It is one of the venues in the old town that is hosting the trinity Festival, featuring live music from local and regional talent. It's a really nice pub we will definitely be back.

Worst bar ever the bouncer uses excessive force for no reason and has being seen taking coke in the men’s toilets. The manager (short red hair) is just as bad as she has conveniently “lost” cctv they are both vile human beings and I hope they get all what’s coming to them

An OK place. The staff and management are terrific but the customers are like Darwin's waiting room - as to be expected in city centre bar. Very well kept beer and and the landlady/gaffer is a thoroughly good egg!

The managers of this pub is terrible. One of the so called managers friends came into the pub a while back and started shouting racial words having being in the pub the night before drinking so was clearly hung over. I've also heard a lot of bar staff have being barred for daft things, why is it any different to the bar staff compared to the managers friend. Personally I believe after hearing such disgusting words coming out of his mouth he should also be barred??? I would also like to know why this person is able to drink at the place where he works as others have being told they are not allowed to drink within the work place environment unless its an "after work drink" Maybe the managers should listen to the bar staff more and listen more careful to what they say. I will not be coming back to this place as my girlfriend has now being barred due to an incident that happened and the manager pointing the finger at her and blaming her for the full situation that has happened and now also refusing to pay her wages. It's not just this one incident that has happened as it also happened to another girl that works as bar staff. I'm really disgusted with the way it is.

Although Service was fair. Prices in bars now are crazy. I'd rather drink at home. But was out to meet old friends and we were on a pub crawl. I'm particular about my drinks as I only drink low sugar products due to Diabetes. But was not well after leaving this bar. Whether I was given a full sugar Coke with my Vodka I'm not entirely sure. But my blood sugar was crazy high. I went home soon after. It was early evening when we went in so there wasn't much of an atmosphere. Normally when we go here we go later and it's a fantastic atmosphere.

Went to this bar a few Fridays ago, the drinks took more than 15 minutes to come to our table, I ordered a Malibu and lemonade, when the drink came it was a Malibu and coke (I can’t drink coke) I politely said to the waitress this isn’t the drink I ordered and she apologised saying she had wrote it down as a coke, when I kindly asked her to take it back and change it for a Malibu lemonade she said she couldn’t do anything about it because it’s been made now and if I wanted the drink I ordered I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR ANOTHER ONE, this was AFTER speaking to her manager... I could not believe what I was hearing..

Tiffany's Bar is a vibrant and spacious cocktail bar located in Hull City Centre. It has quickly become a popular spot for locals to unwind and socialize. The bar features themed rooms such as the Peppard room and the Hebburn room, with plans for more to come. Best bottomless brunch in hull!! You get more than your moneys worth! Great service too. Shout out to Lacy and all the staff for keeping us topped up. Immaculate vibes!❤️
Bethany — Google review
I recently visited Tiffanys for a bottomless brunch with two friends on a Saturday evening and was left feeling disappointed, mostly due to the service. We booked one of the last slots at around 6pm. It was my first time trying Tiffanys’ bottomless option—we usually go elsewhere nearby where a full meal is included. Here, you get to choose three light bites served on a platter. We had halloumi bites, fries, and chicken, which were all lovely—ideal if you don’t want a full meal. However, for the price, it’s not the most budget-friendly option in Hull. We were happy to pay it, assuming the drinks service would make up for it. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. After a wait at the bar to be seated, we ordered our first drinks—which took long enough that the server offered to take our second order at the same time. Drinks and food then arrived in reasonable time, but it quickly became obvious there weren’t enough staff. One person appeared to be managing all the tables, and as the bar got busier, drink service became really slow. At one point, we waited over 20 minutes with empty glasses. To add to that, the table next to us was mistakenly given a few drinks that weren’t theirs (and weren’t ours either). The cocktails looked great but were overly sweet—though I believe you can request them to be made less so. The biggest letdown was being told to place our final drink order at the 75-minute mark of a 90-minute brunch—presumably to keep things moving as the venue got busier. While understandable, we’ve had much faster service elsewhere at similar times. We did receive complimentary Tequila Rose shots at the end, which was a nice touch. Overall, I enjoyed spending time with my friends, but the slow service really took away from the experience. I’d recommend booking an earlier slot if you do go, but for a 6pm brunch, there are better options nearby. It’s a shame, as Tiffanys is usually a great spot.

This is for the Princess Avenue location. The staff were lovely and the place had a great vibe. The food was decent but the consistency of the cocktails let it down. Drinks were coming out different to how they were ordered minutes before. Namely the 'kiss my peach' and the 'strawberry martini'. Honestly would be 5 star all round if the cocktails were consistently good.

Had a bottomless brunch here yesterday afternoon for my daughter’s hen. What a fantastic time we had. They let us decorate the table and were happy to help. The cocktails were amazing and plentiful, they were taking our next order as they brought them across. Big shout out to Jacob our server he was fantastic, such a pleasant person. All the staff were amazing and really welcoming. The food was really nice and tasty we couldn’t eat it all. Exceptional value for money we will definitely be returning. Thanks to everyone including the door staff they were fantastic.

Chilli Red Chinese Takeaway is a modern and sophisticated Cantonese restaurant that offers both fine dining and quick takeaway options. Unlike other Chinese restaurants in the area, Chilli Red stands out with its southeastern Chinese taste, using fewer chemicals and MSG. The menu features crowd favorites like honey garlic wings, sweet & sour chicken, and Cantonese seafood chow mein. Customers appreciate the well-seasoned meat dishes and flavorful Yung Chow Fried Rice.
Really good food! Ordered for collection and it was ready in 15 minutes. Good value for money too. Big portions and delicious!!

I honestly didn’t know this sort of terrible Chinese existed anymore. Ordered a special chow mein. One piece of each meat presented on top and then a pile of congealed long-since boiled noodles with a smattering of diced spam-like paste-cubes. They even skimp on bean sprouts. I hate doing 1 stars. This is one I will leave. Just the worst - lazy and sloppy in unapologetic harmony. Boo.
James W — Google review
1st time I went in, I ordered 1 chicken and sweetcorn soup which came to £3.50, the price was on the wall and in the leaflet, there was also a sign saying prices up 10% but as I paid the price that was advertised I assumed it was included. next time I went in I ordered more food including 2 chicken and noodle soups. the woman tallied it up and the total came to £28.60 (£21.60 without the soups), I get back home and notice there is a soup missing, ring the store and they said we were only charged for 1 soup which isn't the case. I've just been in and tried to sort the issue out, I said I'd order a soup anyway but I expected my free 1, the woman behind the counter started tallying what I was saying I ordered and she said that came to 27.60 so I was overcharged £1, I know this isn't the case, but anyway she takes £1 out of the till and puts it on the counter. i order a soup anyway and she says 3.50 so I ask to pay on card and she says £5 minimum for card so I order another soup. this time she said the prices are up 10% and says the total will be £7.70. this 10% increase apparently isn't reflected anywhere other than the little paper sign, I felt cheated and lied to so I told her to keep the £1 and said forget about the soups. I will not be eating here again. prices are inconsistent and in some cases an outright lie.

Although most of the Chinese restaurants on Hull are similar, most of them are northern China taste, this one is more like southeastern Chinese taste, that means less MSG and other chemicals. Ordered Yung Chow Fried Rice and beef with spring onions. It took 10 minutes only to get the food. Meat is seasoned very well, and the fried rice is good with differential ingredients. Employees are nice and friendly, complimentary fortune cookies are so lovely.

The atmosphere is generally great, although there may be occasional disruptive individuals. The pub is cozy and friendly, making it an ideal spot for lunch or evening drinks. The food is well-prepared and the bar is well-stocked.
Excellent. The food was great and unlike lots of other places, didn't look like it came straight out of a packet. Very tasty and well presented. Prices of beer and grub were exceptional too, especially for somewhere in the City Centre. The Punch also offers a two for one deal, which is ideal if you're on a tight budget and you're looking for somewhere that offers good friendly and speedy service. We ate outside but If you can get a table, I would suggest eating indoors, as there is lots of road noise and general racket from Queen Victoria Square. Don't let this put you off visiting. I'm certain that you won't be disappointed.

A new(ish) visitor to Hull we were recommended Humber Street and we headed towards Hygge to sample their cocktails. A self-confessed Cosmopolitan expert I can confirm theirs were top notch. The other cocktail in the photo was a Pleasure and my husband said it was amazing. We had a second round, I had another cosmo and he had an amaretto sour which again hit the mark. Danish "Hygge" theme, expect a warm feeling and blankets and cushions dotted around; with chilled music and a beach club vibe. 👌

Where do I start with how AMAZING Hygge Is! 🤩 I had my wedding here on Monday the 7th April , this date was important to us as a couple as it is the anniversary of when we met, Hygge at this time of the year is not usually open on a Monday but after a fast response from Tom who said they was happy to open for us on the Monday and have the entire place for my wedding party as a private function our dreams came true 🥰 Communication between myself & Tom from that point on was flawless I had outside catering from Herbys and arranged our own acoustic set and dj set from the amazing Josh Langley who both communicated with Tom to arrange set up and delivery time which relieved the stress off me which was perfect. Tom arranged a welcome drink station for our guests and the wine section was perfect we had lots of compliments from our guests how much they was enjoying the wine especially the red wine we had picked, the decor inside is beautiful I did not need any other decorations to make it feel like a spring wedding apart from a beautiful welcome sign made by a dear friend. The full day ran perfectly and I would honestly not want to change a single thing about it, I’ve had lots of messages saying the same from my friends and family who also commented how perfect the venue was. The sun ☀️ was shining on our special day and the outside seating and fresh feel of the decor complimented the sunshine beautifully. We could not recommend Hygge enough to anyone who needs a venue for there wedding reception and thank you again to all the staff at Hygge for making our day extra special With love ❤️ the Coopers xxxx

Pub
The Duke of York is a traditional pub located in the heart of Sutton, previously owned by Hull Brewery and now under Marstons. The pub has undergone extensive modernization over the years and offers a good selection of beers, including hobgoblin gold on hand pump. The food is highly praised for being very good and freshly cooked to order. Visitors can enjoy generous portion sizes and a friendly atmosphere.
Popped in during the summer for a drink and noticed how good the meals looked so I promised myself to get back. Well the food did not disappoint, two of us had the beef and ale pie and my OH had halloumi burger and chips. Portions are generous and none of us could finish our meals. The food itself was excellent, the beef pie was perfection as were the homemade chips. My partner enjoyed her halloumi burger but her fries were not as good as my homemade ones. The service was good and the two girls behind the bar were friendly. The puddings look very good but we didn't bother today. A lovely afternoon out see you again soon.

Had a fantastic meal out with friends today. The service was quick, the selection of meals was good with something for everyone. The portions were great value. I had the chicken burger which came with chips, coleslaw and onion rings. It was enormous but delicious. For dessert I chose the aero brownie which was delicious again. Will definitely be coming back and recommending to others.

Had a lunch time meal . Mixed grill was amazing. Steak cooked exactly howi like it and the absolute best sausages I've ever had , the chips where to die for. Others had the fish finger sandwich, Steak and mushroom pie and all day breakfast which all looked amazing. More expensive than standard pub grub but the quantity and quality are next level. Would highly recommend 5☆

I had not been to this place despite living in the area for more than 20 years and now i have been 4 times in 4 weeks. The first time i had the meat pie which os gmhuge filled with steak and mushrooms and comes with either mash or their amazing chips. I had it with mash which to be fair was a cold it didnt bother me my cousin got the same and had to ask for his to be warmed up. Fast forward a week and went in with my mam semhe got the meat pie and struggled to finish it, i got the small mixed grill fantstic quality and value at £14. A week or so later i went in with some work colleagues, they all got large mixed grills and fair to say they all struggled to finish them but rsved about the quality being spot on. This time i got the Chicken Madras again spot on good portion size half rice half chips and naan breads very good and it wad plenty hot enough. Yesterday I went back for a Sunday dinner. We went at 3 (which for clarity was booked in advance) and there was limited food choice left no roast beef, no steaks , no fish and 5 pies just enough for our group. The selection from the carvery was limited, certainly not as much choice as nearby Lambwath perhaps it wss the time we went but a lack of hot gravy and cold mash again?. As a group we were dissapointed and on reflection i wouldnt go for Sunday lunch again. The food on the whole is good but the service lets it down a bit staff are not very attentive or responsive as other places.

I went here with a friend for a belated birthday treat of afternoon tea and it was really nice. A nice room at the back, separated from the main bar area. Self serve tea and coffee and then the food brought to the table. Would definitely recommend.

Bar & grill
Humber Dock Bar & Grill, affectionately known as Green Bricks, offers a delightful dining experience with stunning waterfront views and affordable pub classics. Its prime location by Hull's atmospheric docks makes it perfect for a leisurely evening meal or a relaxing afternoon drink. The restaurant provides ample indoor and outdoor seating, making it suitable for larger groups looking to enjoy their meals with an impressive backdrop.
I have been into Humber Dock today (06/06/2025), I came in for a bite to eat and a pint. I decided I’ll play it safe and order a cheese burger and chips. Words simply cannot comprehend the fantastic quality of the burger; the freshness, the taste, the presentation and the time and care that went into assembling this simply stupendous quality meal…. I even enjoyed the onions, and I’m the polar opposite of an advocate for onions. I would highly recommend any burger lovers to come to this venue, and try it out. I paid £14.95, I would have paid £30. Satisfied is an understatement. Bar staff were also lovely and welcoming. The music was at a perfect level. Brilliant venue, surprised it wasn’t busier than what it was. Will be returning in the near future and bringing a crowd with me so they can understand how good the food was. Hats off to the chef.

Pub empty Sunday lunch time so I should of known .worst mixed grill I have ever had fatty cheap meat. tuff steak.told a member of staff when he came to collect plates was only in getting a good review about the service .he hadn't asked if we were happy when we were eating it we would of said .so service was shit .not complmenty drink offer .definitely will not eat ther again .

This pub is in great location and could be a lot better than it is. At one end of the bar you can't get served they do carvery for £8.50 which is a load of rubbish. The chef kept wiping his nose on his rubber glove and spreading it all over the food. There was mash potato and veg all over the floor and the staff where just helping themselves. I would give it a miss if I was you .

We was in hull for the street sesh and popped in for a drink, Its obvious that every pub and vendor had upped the prices to take advantage of foot fall and we knew it. But I ordered 3 drinks and paid 17.90 shortly after my brother in law bought the same drinks and after a minute or 2 he said "thats expensive" I asked how much he paid and it was £19.50. Yes we should have approached staff and questioned it but seen as we had already drunk half of them it seemed pointless as he paid it and did not question it at the time of payment. Safe to say we will not return here again to be robbed like that. Perhaps the staff just make the prices up as they go along to make the most profit. To top it off I went to the toilet to find that the gents was out of order and had to use the ones in the function room, the urinals where over flowing and even the sinks where backed up. I mentioned it to a passing member of staff on my way back to our table to be told "ok mate". Never again thanks

I went into the bar this evening and a young man asked me what I'd like , I said a white wine. He asked me to move up the bar which I did. He asked again what I'd like, white wine I replied, which one i said maybe a pintot gricio. He gave me a glass of rose wine which I said I didn't ask for and asked to exchange. He brought a female bar member over and she asked me my issue. I said I didn't have one I just simply wanted a white wine. She said well you've got a white zinfandel, I said its a rose, she said I'd asked him for a white zinfandel. I said I wouldn't have known that drink and I ordered a pinot gricio and could I have one as I wanted to get back to my friends. She said she'd get me one if I apologised. I said I had nothing to apologise for and to get me the drink or a refund. She went on about asking for a white zinfandel so I asked to see the manager, she said she was the manager. I asked her to talk with me in a quiet place but she refused. The music was tremendously loud and I was struggling to hear and be heard. I told her I wouldn't move until I got a refund or a white wine and she asked again for an apology. A customer next to me tried to mediate and my friend came back over. Then another lady stepped behind the bar. My friend told her what I'd asked for and the issue of the cocky miss asking for an apology. She turned out to be the manager and said to get me what I'd asked for. I've never in my 66 years of life being treated in such a rude and disgusting manner. I was worn out and in tears by the end. Never again! I'll be reporting her tomorrow.

The Cross Keys is a Tudor-style pub with great food and regular entertainment. The rooms are straightforward, clean, and comfortable.
Great bar with 2 drinking sections and a small outdoor drinking area. All are kept clean and tidy. There's a great atmosphere indoors, as its usually nice and calm. The staff are friendly and polite, they get to you to take your order quickly at busy times. Drinks are reasonably priced with a large selection to choose from, ranging from ales, ciders, a range of spirits and wines . There's a small carpark which is easy to access from the main road.

The Cross Keys is a fantastic spot for anyone looking for a lively, activity-filled pub experience. With events scheduled on different days, there’s always something happening, whether it’s a sports match on the big screen, a game of pool, or a round of darts. It’s a haven for beer lovers, offering a diverse selection that pairs perfectly with the buzzing atmosphere. The Cross Keys brings people together, making it an ideal place to unwind, catch a game, or enjoy a night out with friends.

My 1st review of the Cross Keys, was truthful but scathing, we encountered some very unsociable characters, whilst following some freinds in a band, it was embarrassing as I've actually been visiting the pub for 40 yrs, ha Linda 🙏 was just a teenager,, so was very disappointing to have our nite ruined,,, HOWEVER...... NOW IN MORE RECENT TIMES,,, the new landlords and wonderful staff seem to of completely change everything around,,, its now a warm and welcoming place to visit,, great choice of beers,, 👍👍

An excellent pub offering a choice of cask conditioned real ale. At Low prices. There is also a variety of other beers and lagers. A large comfortable pub ideal for watching sports on many TVs several rooms. The pub is also dog friendly and has a large car park and plenty of outside seating. Highly recommended.

Eaten here now on a few occasions. The food here is excellent. The steak pie is to die for and had the fish yesterday. Best piece of fish I have had in ages. Not greasey one bit. Hate fish when all wet and sloppy. Not here it was cooked perfect. Def be back again.

Well it was my first time visiting the cross keys on friday 15th July for food because it was recommended by friends food was ok apart from the chips still hard not cooked properly but the rest was good . I felt sorry for the new girl who served us it was her 1st night she told us and very polite and nervous she was asking for help from an elderly member of staff who was very intimidating and rude to the poor girl we was told the older woman had been working at cross keys for years . Poor service from her very rude

Nestled in the heart of Hull, BrewDog Hull is a no-nonsense bar that proudly showcases the craft beers from its namesake Scottish brewery, along with an exciting selection of guest brews. This vibrant spot is particularly appealing to plant-based diners, offering a delightful array of vegan options. Indulge in their standout dishes like the Clucky This Time burger featuring Tindle plant-based chicken or savor the Plant-Powered Patriot burger made with Redefine Meat patties.
My partner and I saw a review online from What's on Hull and decided to give slice and social (the pizza franchise inside Brewdog) and see what the hype is about. Well we got the chip spice and tipsy tomato 16" pizzas and we were not disappointed at all! The tipsy tomato was amazing, great balance of all the ingredients with crunches in all the right places. My partner said the chip spice pizza was brilliant, in the top 5 pizzas he's had; no overpowering saltiness, no dryness considering the chicken is dry marinated and overall left us both feeling very satisfied after a 2.5hr walk in the countryside! Can't wait to come back with friends and have some more great pizza whilst playing on the retro consoles!

It was about 18 months since we had gone for the Wings Wednesday night so thought it was a good time to try it again. Booked a table over the phone as had missed the 48 hr cutoff for booking online. Table ready for us on arrival. Probably around half the tables were occupied which at 7pm was quite busy. Our first order comes with 10 wings (we also ordered fries and flatbread as sides) and then subsequent orders are for 5 wings. My wife was unsure how spicy the buffalo sauce would be so asked for the sauce on the side. I tried the Korean BBQ with sauce on. From our little experiment the wings are much crispier without the sauce applied in the kitchen. The Korean BBQ sauce isn’t spicy at all so good if you can’t cope with the buffalo sauce - which is quite spicy. The staff were friendly and helpful. Service was slow - the staff apologised for the kitchen being backed up. Not something we would do every week but a night of 20 wings each was enjoyable. Beer not bad either! Hazy Jane and fruit cider.

I'm actually sat writing this review while I'm still sat in the venue because we've had such a good visit here and I don't want to forget. The service has been brilliant, we couldn't have asked for more. The staff are friendly and attentive and couldn't have been more helpful. The food was fantastic. Fresh, hot, and tasted amazing. The kids had pizzas and said they were the best they've ever had. Bonus points that the cheese was extra stretchy! I had a pizza dog and wow, I've never had one before but I loved it. My fussy husband got the wings and ate the lot, which is high praise in itself! The bar itself is clean, tidy and we love the decor. We had a few games of pool too. The atmosphere was good too. Lots of laughter, everyone was in good spirits and there were kids enjoying the food and the games that are available too. Absolutely recommend this place, if you're in hull then give them a visit. You won't regret it.

Fine atmosphere in the restaurant, but when we wanted to order pizza it would take half an hour for 4 half pizza's. A bit to long for us but fine. Then we went to drinks, Irn bru: On the cart but they don't serve it? Fanta: Not on the cart but they do serve it? Sounds like time to update the cart. Moved on and ordered 4 drinks, didn't get glasses but just bottles so we asked for glasses. The glasses that we got, looked like they hadn't been washed in 2 years. Couldn't even see through the glass anymore, absolutely disgusting and unacceptable and again absolutely disgusting. (It was worse than on the picture)
Niek R — Google review
Fourth time we come and they never have wings available. Only pizza and fries are ever available. They have great beer, great atmosphere, great design, but if you have an item on the menus, why never have it available. Once we were able to get the last, smallest possible portion of them and never again. We’ve come at lunch, dinner, opening, closure times, but nothing.

I was quite sad when I visited today. I have loved visiting BrewDog bars over the years. It feels like this bar has lost its way and no one really cares anymore. At least I got my 15% off as an EFP. - neon sign on the way in which was working 33% was a pre-warning of how the evening would unfold... - apple juice for the kids, sorry no apple juice. - ok, food please pizza, wings, flatbreads, kids pizza, fries, should be quick only 5 tables here.. - guest beer please....sorry barrel is empty - ok just one of the generic beers then please I can get in Tesco as that is all you have it seems - 1 hour later...no food - please can we have some food? - kids hungry, some crisps while they wait please, sorry no crisps (4 SKUS on menu)...do you want some chips from the kitchen? - 1hr 10 pizza arrives... - 1 hr 20...how is rest of food doing? - 1 hr 30 rest of food arrives, apparently some drama with the tickets. You would think the guy that took our order would have raised some concern with the kitchen after 40 mins of no food, given there were about 10 people in the place, but sadly no. Only redeeming part of the visit was the poor woman (black haired sorry didn't get her name) waiter that joined her shift at the end of our visit that apologised profusely and brought us some dough balls and drinks for the kids. Wings were fantastic, but not 1hr 30 fantastic. - trip to the toilet with my young daughter, ah no toilet paper... - sums up the evening.
Jonathan A — Google review
Fantastic beers, food AND staff! Had a great time! Highly recommend it. Plenty of seating inside and out. Reds True BBQ menu is so yummy! Brewdogs are all dog friendly (and kid friendly up to certain times). Entrance via shopping centre or from outside. Loads of craft beer to choose from or cocktails and wine options if that’s your poison.
Maggie W — Google review
The pizza quarters, and cauliflower "wings" are great, battered, deep fried cauliflower in buffalo sauce is amazing!!! Avoid the "pizza dogs" at all costs, overcooked sausage, undercooked pizza dough, not enough sauerkraut and the worst shitty American style mustard I've ever tasted. There was no sign of a burger menu at all, which is a shame. The beer, as usual was fantastic. Hazy Jane Guava is toooo drinkable by far.
