The museum offers free entrance options (e.g. afternoons). The exhibition called Adına, Oteiza, Palazuelo - Shaping the Transcendental was my favorite!

The entrance was free, and the lady at the reception was very kind. We had visited this museum a year ago, and we really enjoyed the exhibitions back then. However, today we didn’t particularly like the four different exhibitions on display.
This place has a lot of potential to host great works and showcase new artists. The fact that entry is free in the afternoons and on Sundays is fantastic, as it allows access to culture for those who may not have much money.
I still recommend this museum because it’s likely you’ll find exhibitions that suit your taste in the future. Just make sure to check the current exhibitions before visiting.

This restaurant has a unique and special atmosphere. The staff is beyond kind and attentive. We had the roasted bell peppers, roasted cod and grilled artichoke. They have a few vegetarian options too. If you’re in Vitoria, this is definitely worth a stop for lunch or dinner.
We had an amazing dinner during our stay in Vitoria. We got some hammon as starter and it was delicious. Later followed by two massive steaks with potatoes and peppers. The meat was cooked really well and the quality was honestly great.
Desserts were good, not amazing but typical so just not really our taste.
Only “bad thing” (our fault for not looking at the website) is the fact that if you want the full menu you have to book it at least two days in advance so just be prepared.
I really liked the medieval style of the restaurant, the staff was friendly but very slow. I ordered the octopus dish and it was good, nothing special though. As a main we opted for the turbot (rodaballo), and this is where things started going wrong. Firstly, the waiter was confused about the dish and wasn’t able to answer my questions. Personally, I believe that waiters should have a good understanding of the menu. I wanted to order the whole fish, I was told it would be a fillet which isn’t an issue. We receive our octopus, and a while after that one of the waiters informs me that in the end they’d be able to do the whole fish, meaning that all this time they haven’t even started with cooking the fish. We had to wait for AT LEAST an hour, waiters were very politely kept telling me that it’s a “complicated” dish and that there were some issues in the kitchen. Eventually after having already lost my appetite, we are given the fish. Was it horrible? No. But was it worth 80€ and an hour of my time? Absolutely not. Our lovely day trip in Vitoria unfortunately ended with us being annoyed and feeling robbed.

Thirteen of us had supper here tonight. Not only was the food very plentiful and of a very high standard but the service was over and above what we might have expected. The atmosphere is old world charm but everything else is very much up to date and the chefs know exactly what they are doing. When in Vitoria again we will not hesitate to come and enjoy another visit to El Portalón. We can not recommend this establishment more highly.
A must see in Gasteiz. Delicious food , welcoming Restaurant Team with Aitor and his colleagues . The soup and the cider were delicious . The tomato salad 🥗 with fresh local tomatoes

El Toloño taberna is a chic and contemporary spot offering seasonal Basque specialties, inventive pintxos, and occasional music sessions. It's a popular choice for indulging in delicious tapas in Vitoria-Gasteiz, alongside other renowned pinchos bars like Sagartoki, Tximiso, and Deportivo Alaves. El Toloño holds the distinction of being the first bar to win the Basque Country Pintxos Championship.
We stoped here in our way to Portugal with a mission to have good tapas. We ordered 17 of them. All were excellent! The ingredients were fresh and full of flavor. Pintxo Jamon had amazing tomato base, more tasty than what we tried in bigger cities. The young staff was super friendly and helpful and they spoke good English. We highly recommend Tolono.

Very good food, lots of choices of typical pintxos and some particular plate from the kitchen. As most of the bar in this part of Spain there is no table service: you go to the counter and get what you want. the waiters are really cordial and they'll explain every pintxos so you can decide.
The location is very centric and the interior design is modern and comfortable.
When you think about coming to Spain one of the first things that comes to mind is food and weather, but we mainly think about paella or Patatas Bravas, well let me tell you that they have more than that and one of the best places to come is Bar El Toloño in Vitoria Gasteiz.
They know what exactly is the taste of The Basque Country, their food speaks for itself. They’re re not just a bar, they are Artists of the real and proper Basque food.
Also they have been rewarded with the Michelin Stars 🌟

I loved everything in this restaurant. The service, the food, the decorum. The meat was amazing, the crumble was delicious. The service was quick. Just one thing to improve (and that an easy one): MORE FRENCH FRIES with the amazing meat. We were three and they were a portion for one with the meat, we had to ask for more.

We got a quick lunch outside. Their signature tapas is really good, one of the best one we’ve had so far in the region. The tortillas was really tasty and the best one we’ve had in town. The croquettes were nothing special. Our server was amazing. Would recommend just a little more expensive than what we thought.
The food is truly spectacular, must try. We order el entrecôte, the egg yolk with bacon, pimientos del padron and the ventresca salad. All the food was 10/10 and highly recommended the entrecôte and the egg yolks. The BAD, it’s true that the service is VERYYY slow and they take their time, but once you order things come out fairly quickly.
The customer service is really poor from the door to the dinning room.. The waitress at the restaurant is really poorly trained and educated impolite and really RD…. REVIEWS speaks by the self..

First timer in this restaurant… and it is not just inexpensive.. I was trying to understand about the cuts and way that they prepared the meat but she was just repeating that the “The weight of the cut was 2 kilos with 6 something including bone and fat”

The food was exceptional. Since it was a Friday night, they were very busy and the service wasn't great. We waited some time (10+ min) for somebody to actually even acknowledge us standing in the waiting area. Once we were acknowledged, they found a table for us. The next wait was for somebody to take our order, at least another 15min. And then waiting for the bill was even longer, at least 20min because "only the manager" (what we were told) could do the card payments. But I would definitely recommend the place for a great meal & beautiful setting. Just don't go if you're in a hurry.
We really enjoyed the tortilla of queso de cabra and the desserts. Food quality was very good in general, but the place was a little expensive. Also, portions were not very generous

Tximiso Taberna is a popular bar located in the center of Vitoria, perfect for eating or drinking while visiting the city. Along with the pintxo bar, it offers a very comprehensive menu, highlighted by traditional options and a daily selection of dishes that includes an alcoholic drink for 8 euros.

We stopped there randomely for a quick lunch and we left the tavern very happy with our bellies full.Being fluent in Spanish we didn't need the extra help but it made us feel even more welocmed.
To start with we ordered a couple of starters followed by 2 mains with some local wines for which we asked some recommendation.
All plates were delicious and the boss brought us a small plate of the specials that we didn't order for us to try.
We LOVED it and would visit again when in the area.

La Malquerida is a charming gem nestled in the heart of Vitoria-Gasteiz, right across from the picturesque Plaza Virgen Blanca and near the stunning Catedral de Santa Maria. Pinchos were delicious and not expensive, price 2.50€ per one. Staff was nice and welcoming. Kitchen opening at 8 pm, before that time you can only order pinchos and drinks.

Restaurant Arkupe offers a unique dining experience with its two distinct areas - a casual tapas bar downstairs and a more formal dining room upstairs. Originally established as a small bar in 1973, it has now evolved into a renowned restaurant known for its innovative initiatives such as 'Los Pucheros del Arkupe' and introducing the famous 'cocido vitoriano' to its menu.
Excellent food and service here. The grilled squid dishes - both the version with onions and the risotto version - are super tasty and fresh. The artichoke starter was exceptional too.

Maybe okay for drinks but I was really unimpressed with the food. Salad of crab and prawns (€15) was mashed potato and mayonnaise with the taste of crab and prawns but -no evidence of them bar a bit of texture. Dish it was served on (a faux crab shell) was not clean, and one of the owners who served me would not listen to the fact that I also wanted to pay for a beer when I ordered the food. So I had to go back to the bar to pay for that separately .

Been for 4 days in Vitoria...but was more than ten times in this place. This is for sure one of the best places in Vitoria where you get the best Pintxos in town. Variety, Taste...par excellence. Their Jamon is superb. Apart from that the boss "Inigo" and the entire staff are very friendly...you feel like coming home every time. Customer friendly...this is not the case in many other places in town...in my experience. Don't miss this gem if you are in town. It's a must!

We started our road trip through northern Spain in Vitoria. This was our first evening and dinner. The owner was very friendly, even though we didn't speak the same language, he did his best to satisfy our needs. He offered us a classic selection of Basque tapas. It was delicious!

Nestled in the charming Old Town of Vitoria on Calle Cuchilleria, Bar Idoia is a delightful little spot that captures the essence of Basque cuisine. Known for its homemade croquettes and unique poached eggs, this cozy bar is a must-visit for food lovers. The menu features delectable options like stuffed peppers and Idiazabal cheese croquettes, alongside refreshing homemade vermouth.
This was our first visit to Vitoria and Bar Idoia. I am delighted with the atmosphere of the place and the high quality of the food served (including different varieties of croquettes, tapases with piparras langostinos de Ibarra and anchovies, or guacamole with nachos) and the unique drinks. For me, it is the quintessence of Basque Country flavours and, thanks to the owners, Ewa and Aldo, also Polish-Mexican.
I very much hope to return to this place and can't wait to do so.

Nice bar in a busy street full of "pit stops" for the younger crowd. Boothroyd just woke up and smelled the "coffee". Bought his Mum an Aperol...she has the "munchies" .. nothing to do with the sweet smell of finest"coffee". Great vibe but I think I am heading into old age. Still, you have to visit this street on an evening sundown. Good tapas or pinxtos.

Maider nos ha tratado de maravilla, siempre muy atenta.
El ambiente es muy agradable, buena música y la comida es excelente.
La tortilla de patata tartufa probablemente es de las mejores de la ciudad. Muy jugosa y sabrosa, nos ha encantado.
Era el motivo principal por el que teníamos ganas de probar este bar tan cuco y ha cumplido con creces.
Cuando reservamos mesa por teléfono, previamente, nos preguntaron si queríamos la tortilla ya que se hacen por encargo.
Adicionalmente pedimos un par de sandwiches para compartir:
El Sloppy Joe, es el pringue y gocheo más maravilloso que hemos probado. Riquísimo.
