A truly cozy and authentic place where history comes alive—massive model ships hanging from the ceiling, ancient paintings, and religious icons on the walls all add to an atmosphere that elevates both the meal and the experience. We had a wiener schnitzel and a rump steak—both well-prepared and enjoyable. The potatoes were just right, and the vegetables were fresh and flavorful. The schnitzel could have used a bit of sauce and maybe some extra greens on the side, though I’m sure that’s not part of the original recipe. Service, however, was a highlight! Our sharp and energetic waitress brought a great vibe to the evening and made us feel right at home. Definitely a spot I’d recommend to first-time visitors in Lübeck or anyone looking to soak up a bit of that classic German charm.

A “posh” place with history. Need to book in advance as it’s quite occupied in rush hours. I highly recommend its Labskaus which is the best that I tried in Hamburg and Lübeck. It’s kinda costy as you can easily spend over €50 per person. But still, excellent food and vibe!

If you’ve travelled to Lübeck like me to soak in as much medieval fairytale vibes as you can, then a visit to Schiffergesellschaft is a must. This is a preserved and restored Shipmaster/ Seaman/ Captains Guildhall from 1535. The menu comes with a historical overview of this guild and how it survives to this day. The interior is simply medieval maritime charm. I tried my first Labskaus here - a traditional north german dish for fisherman made with corned beef mashed with potatoes and beets, served with a sunny fried egg and classically accompanied with pickles, pickled herring, onions and beets. I loved it. My main I ordered something off their specials menu, Plaice Finkenerder style. Bacon crisped up and rendered, the fat is then used to cook the bed of cabbage and a tender plaice fillet crisped to perfection. It’s accompanied by parsley potatoes - simple and delicious. I enjoyed it all with a light beer. I hope to visit again someday!

Beautiful old navy interior. Excellent food, especially Holsltein dishes. The “unser” Grauburgunder was an excellent choce. The service was great. Reservation is for mor than 2 people recommended.

The building itself is quite beautiful and worth seeing. They offer a large choice of meals, each looking very appealing, they also have a good selection of wines and other beverages, including nonalcoholic drinks. The basil lemonade was very interesting. I had lunch there with my family, a big table of 7 people without reservation and didn’t have to wait. I had the Dorade Royale, served with vegetables and potatoes, it was excellent! The portions are very generous, but you can ask to take your food to go if you can’t finish your meal. I also had the vegan marzipan ice cream which was also delicious.

This is such a fantastic place. Restaurant serving typical North German fare in a setting that couldn't be better suited. The house used to house the Shipowners Guild. Good qualify food. A bit pricey, although by no means extreme. And taking in the atmosphere, friendly service and quality and quantity of food you get - it is warmly recommended.

You see this old building when you enter the city. It gives a fairytale vibe. I really like the ambiance. Also i took pictures in the evening.

The Holstentor is such a wonderful landmark which luckily survived to the modern age. The inside holds a nice little museum with different themed rooms and also a rather beautiful model of the medieval city.

A must see in Lübeck and a beautiful entrance to the old town. The Museum is small but also worth a visit if you have time.

Unique experience. I would definitely recommend especially if you are from outside of the EU. There were lots of interesting artifacts inside the museum. There are lots of steep, winding stairs inside so if you have mobility issues, you wouldn't enjoy this.

The initial welcome from one staff member was not so warm as we didn't have a reservation, it felt like we were an inconvenience. We sat happily in the beer garden, lucky to be under an umbrella and out of the rain unlike some other tables. Once seated the food, drink and service were good.

A traditional pub with good kitchen in the center of the city. The staff is untrained and uninterested. We were served beer twice as the waiters are not coordinating their work. The basement is touristy with replicas of historical objects. The kitchen closes at 10. No food after that. Small garden but lot of places inside on 3 levels.

The waitress was the best, the food was very, very good. I would definitely come back. The restrooms were clean, as was the rest of the establishment.

A good place to try delicious craft beer and national dishes. Be prepared for the fact that the dishes are very large, the waiters are not too hasty and the kitchen closes about 1.5 hours before the establishment closes. prices are normal.

A popular bar, recommend to book in advance. Food is ok but not exactly impressive. The goulash soup was quite salty. I have a feeling that this place is understaffed as it takes ages to get the waiter.

We have been coming here for the last 15 years. Over the years the quality of the food has been declining. This time was the worst. The schnitzel Wiener Art was really dry and almost looked like is was not home made and some of the fried potatoes were not even cooked through properly. All of us were really disappointed. This was the last time we will visit unfortunately.

My husband and I went here to celebrate after our wedding and were so happy we did. The staff was super friendly and greeted us with sparkling wine. The cocktails were great. Reminds me of my favorite cocktail bar in the US. Thanks again!

Excellent and knowledgable bar keeper! Made our night. Great explanations and even a special creation based on a description of a flavour profile. You forget you are in Lübeck, and you could be in London, Hong Kong or Tokio!

Ideally located on the west of Lübeck, by the unmissable bridge Holstenbrücke, this tiny bar catches your eye by its beautiful décor and atmosphere. Seating at the bar, you can see the personnel cares and values quality and precision when assembling the drinks. I had four different cocktails, going various directions in terms of flavours and ingredients, and every one of them was excellent and showed subtlety in the way the flavours are brought together. A short conversation with one of the barmen proved the passion and willingness to further develop knowledge and recipes. This cocktail bar is an obligatory stop. And they speak English btw.

Great drinka. Barman really knows his job, and can surprise you with very uncertain tastes of drinka.

A highly recommended place by all the guidebooks, described as the oldest and most delicious cafe, but it was quite a disappointment. The products in the store were tasty, but the souvenirs were ridiculously expensive. The cafe itself was decent, but the waiting time was insane — 15 minutes just to have someone take our order, and another 15 minutes to bring the bill. The service was lacking, and nothing exceptional stood out. The building is beautiful, though, and the interior is nice.

Nice cafe, main store of the popular German brand of marzipans. Not the cheapest, and products cost the same in a supermarket and that should not be the case. Long queue to pay. Nice selection of cakes to enjoy in the cafe, you select the one you want from the display, they give you a ticket and then when you order from the waiter they will bring the cake.

Café Niederegger is a great place to stop when visiting Lübeck. It’s right on the main street and easy to find. The cakes are delicious. prices are a bit higher, but worth it. You can enjoy coffee, buy gifts, and visit the small marzipan museum upstairs. A fun and tasty stop in the city.

Even on a weekday afternoon (around 1:30 pm), the café was quite busy, which shows how popular it is. Despite the rush, the staff were friendly and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Lübeck!

A must-visit for any Marzipan or sweet-tooth lover. I tried their famous marzipan cheesecake, which was a true delight - creamy, rich, and with that distinct marzipan flavour that Niederegger is renowned for. Although a bit pricey for the small slice (around €6-8), the experience of enjoying a slice in this historic café is worth it. The elegant, traditional setting of the café, with its marzipan-filled displays, makes it a must-visit. Be sure to check out the marzipan museum too (free of charge) one floor above, to learn more about what they are popular for.

The museum is well structured and very informative. A lot can be learned about the Hansa, its history, impact, economy, and society. I liked the alternating types of galleries: themed gallery and object gallery. It is also a museum that thought about young visitors. The interaction with the tickets to unlock screens was fine at first but became a bit of a nuisance. The adjacent preserved monastery was beautifully conserved!

If you visit Lübeck, start your trip here! The museum offers an accessible narrative of the rather complicated story of the Hansa and Lübeck. Using lot of technology you can spend hours in the exhibition listening to podcasts and read the texts. Children-friendly. The price-16 euro includes the visit to the Dominican monastery with life size creepy Dominicans. The museum shop is small but interesting. Also a coffeeshop. Strongly recommended.

A very well done, modern museum that strikes a good balance between immersive and informative elements. We learned a lot about the history of the Hanse, including our kids who went with their well-done quiz booklet that helped them stay engaged. We generally enjoy museums, but can see how this is also a great place to start for folks (and kids!) who aren't too experienced with museum visits, given the engaging and vivid exhibition on display here.

The chef is VERY nice. He showed us to the table, dried our seats after the rain and was so nice as to bring out the dish the waitress obviously forgot about. And the food was good, the cocktails tasty.

Was there late for drinks with group. Beer tasted like water, cocktail selection was poor and the ones we got wasn't worth drinking.

Unfortunately a terrible experience. Waited a long time to order and when the food then finally arrived it was only for one of us at the table. We assumed the other dish would come shortly after but no. After waiting for another 15-20 minutes we then asked the waiter where our food was. She was surprised but claimed it wasnt her section and refered to another waiter that she had to ask. After another 5 minutes she said she couldn’t find this “Anna” waiter and instead of just claiming some responsibility she asked us to go inside to pay as we had now asked for the bill because we didnt want to wait no more. We ofcourse explained that we did not want to pay for a dish we never received which was okay but at no time no one ever apologized for the poor service.

The overall experience was ok, the Food and drinks took too much time to arrive, and drinks and food either should arrive together or close to each other here is not, food arrives and drinks come 20mins later. The food quality is just fine not something outstanding, except the prices that are outstanding high.

A bit disappointing for the first item on the breakfast menu, which was basically the free breakfast option you may get in cheap hotels. The tapas were not bad, however, and the seatings do have a nice view over the water.

Marienkirche St. Marien-Kirche Lübeck - Ev.-Luth. Kirchengemeinde St. Marien in Lübeck is a beautiful Protestant church in the city center, very big that you can enter for a fee or if it’s for prayer 🙏🏾 is for free! Totally recommend it! The lady in the entrance was super nice!

Saint Marienkirche has surprised me a lot! It's really amazing & great from inside & from outside!😍The ticket is 4€, but during a church service you can go inside for free.

life changing. the most beautiful building I have ever seen. and I have visited a lot of churches. though under renovation and with a pained past, this is a must visit for Luebeck. donations to the space are requested in the amount of 5 euro, and worth every penny. grandiose, colourful, full of life and death and it is all captivating. the organ concert I caught the tail end of nearly caused me a stroke - in a good way.

Marienkirche is the third-largest church in Germany, and one of the five large Gothic brick churches in Lübeck. The interior is stunning and learning the history of it was so interesting. During an air raid, a lot of the church was destroyed but it's been beautifully restored. During my time at the church, they were restoring another facade as well. There is a reconstruction of the Danse Macabre, and also some beautiful reliefs of the Last Supper and some statues of Mary, Gabriel, etc. I'm a huge fan of Bach and I was delighted to read that Bach may have come to Marienkirche to play the now-destroyed Totentanzorgel (Danse Macabre organ). I believe they also have services in Marienkirche, although I went on a weekday so I'm not 100% positive. Based on signage, I would say so. I recommend stopping in to learn about the history of Lübeck and the church, or even to sit in on a service! I'm going to come back perhaps to see the other four churches.

St. Mary's Church which was built between 1250 and 1350 is the third largest church in Germany. It and has always been a symbol of the power and prosperity of the old Hanseatic city. Entrance is ticketed, 4 eur per person but it is without doubt worth to enter and see its magnitude from every corner inside.

A great restaurant by the Untertrave river. Great quality food, well presented dishes, excellent service and environment. They also have good drinks and even produce some of the alcohol themselves. I've had other good dishes there, but the Salmon Burger is specially good! Totally recommend.

I found this place by chance, no Google, no recommendations. It was pure luck that I came to this temple of food. Everything looked so amazing that I decided to take all their appetizers to try more. And it was a good choice! It's not the cheapest place, but really MONEY WORTH!!! Do You like fish and/or seafood? Than You definitely have to come here! APPROVED 💕

Great seafood restaurant on Lübeck's waterfront, serving classic regional dishes with a modern twist. Staff is very friendly and attentive, and the place has a nice atmosphere. Can get quite busy, so make sure to reserve a table in advance.

A popular fish place. I came at 17:30 and managed to get a table without reservation. Staffs are friendly. I ordered a nordic starter with Kiel fish, cod & chips and a small beer and it costed €50. The dishes are fine but I would expect better considering the price. They provide vinegar too for the fish & chips (in case you want it as UK style.. like me). Btw, they have a take away place across the street as well.

The battered fish is really good. It changes how I think about fish and chips! I was initially like "Fried fish? Everybody can do that!", and after I took a bite "Holy. This is so good. The fish is juicy, is not fishy, and so flavorful!" I agree with other comments that the price on the steep side, but I am glad the food performance met the high expectation from the high price. Very nice. I sat at the terrace, ordered my stuff and got it in less than 10 minutes. Definitely try rotbier and their dishes I could find free tables at 18:00 on a public holiday, you should be fine expecting a free seat. Nice view of the city too

Finally a place that doesn’t charge you if you modify the addition, the guy was extremely kind and according to my request (I’m vegan) he proposed me a change to a vegetarian option. That is a change, was there 2 years ago and was excellent, my wife has just gone in for lunch and it has failed, totally different. I guess we wont be going back again, what a shame.

Flying Shanghai noodles was epic. amazingly tasty crispy duck with tasty sauce. I definitely recommend.🙌 Vegetarian sushi - veggie crispy rolls was good too, tasty mango lassi. for desert we ordered tiramisu and it was good. polite and very fast service, beautiful ambiance. My summer rolls and papaya salad were surprisingly good! Everything was fresh, authentic and tasty, far better than many of the Vietnamese restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Really nice place with huge portions. I ordered the butterfish, and what I really loved about this dish is that it came with lots of good veggies such as asparagus, broccoli and snow peas, and not just a massive amount of rice like you normally get in other places, which made the dish a lot healthier and tastier.

Very friendly staff, very accomodation. We got the food really quickly which was great as we were really hungry. Loads of salmon in the California roll. The pho was great, we had a coconut curry and flying noodles.

Great asian fusion restaurant. I had on different days nigiri sushi (tuna and anago), some grilled fish and miso soup. I was also with colleagues who were all happy with their meal. The flying noodle dish was especially entertaining. All of us appreciated the amount of food served, and the generous portion of vegetables served with their bowls. Recommended.

We came up with this place because we arrived late and it was the only one that had the kitchen open. Food is really good, with big plates and good variety and quality. The service is also very nice, always smiling and making your stay pleasant. For sure it's a place I would recommend to have dinner if you are staying in Lübeck.

Pork with toast was something new for me but I liked it. I especially liked the mushrooms that came with it. The kid’s meal had salad together with it which is something we never got from the other restaurants. Service was good and food waiting was reasonable. Also, no extra payment in using their toilet.

Recommend this old school place in city center. It's not on the tourist radar, more for locals. Mostly meats, but also some soup, salad and dish dishes. I has currywurst. Service a little slow, but its a small place so it's ok. Dogs welcome inside and out. Friendly staff.

I had the most discriminatory and offensive experience at Strandsalon in Lübeck on 13/07/2024. My friends and I, who are foreigners with darker skin tones, were not allowed entry into the club simply because of our nationality and skin color. The bouncer gave us the ridiculous excuse that the party was only for police and fire brigade members, yet he allowed in all other people without question. This blatant discrimination is unacceptable and completely unjustifiable. It is disgraceful that in this day and age, a business would openly discriminate against customers based on their nationality and skin color. I would strongly advise against visiting Strandsalon if you are not a member of the police or fire brigade and do not have a fair complexion, as apparently they are the only ones welcome at this establishment. Discrimination based on nationality and skin color has no place in society, and it is truly disappointing to see it practiced so openly at this club. Stay far away from Strandsalon if you value inclusivity and fairness for all individuals, regardless of their background.

wanted to watch the football european championship there. prior to the game we called -to aksed if the game we wanted to see would show. -that was confirmed that they woul show it. As arrived they switched the screen between 2 qualification games . so the would not show a normal whole game but every 4 -5 minutes they showed--changed to an other game. for me as a footbal fan I could not follow a normal Total Match. On request they would not adjust the choice to show it. so me and the team of fans I watched it with we left. 1 star because on the investigative call - 1 day before they said ---"jawohl we show it. " and NO they did not show the whole match . also only 1 bar open.. with a waiting time of over 5 minutes to get your -drinks- beer. for me bad experience !! left at half time - before getting the 'Pfand" back on the cups- glasses also took 5 minutes . because was given false information and if you know it is gonna busy open more then 1 bar with 1 slow bar person. would not !! recomend this place to go to.

The halloween party here had two DJs, which one clearly was better than the other. Drinks were reasonably priced and almost half the people there were in costumes. We had a fun experience there.

Good music, nice interior, acceptable prices. You'll usually find quite a crowd in front of the entrance on the weekends, but with a bit of luck you can oftentimes also find a place to sit inside. Very popular with college students, so prepare to see mostly people in their 20s and 30s.

Nice pub for young people/students with affordable beer. The only problem was the pub being very crowded. Standing outside with a beer with friends was fine too. Arnold Schwarzenegger would probably say, “I’ll be back”.

Bar mostly frequented by students and immigrant like the other bars on Clementestraße, open minded, with strong social political movements, alternative. I love it!

Nice atmosphere, nice salsa music, they played only 2 bachata songs in the 3 hours a spend there. The place I can say it is nice the dance floor is small though. Unfortunately no one had any idea about dancing in there ( I am talking about the customers) it had a lot of old people... if that is the latin community of lubeck then I feel sorry about it...

We went to the Ratskeller Lübeck for lunch on Saturday, it was a warm welcome and we were shown to the "Klookschietereck". A room full of history, just like the rest of the Ratskeller. The two waitresses were very friendly and accommodating and answered all of our tourist questions. When we got our food, we were amazed at the portion sizes. We thought we'd ordered the family portions. 😅 There was the "Schweinerei" and the "Eisbein Berliner Art". After that we had to have a schnapps so that we could continue our visit to Lübeck.On recommendations, there was the homemade herbal liqueur 😋 Should we come back to Lübeck and feel hungry, we would be happy to come back.

So I took a chili burger and it's the best burger I've ever eaten in Germany. I visited this place a couple of times and the food was exceptional every time, house made fries are also very delicious, service is very nice, atmosphere is great and very chill. I’ve been living in Germany for almost 7 years and this is straight THE best burger by all means. I had the Crunchy Beef and my bro got a Cheese Burger and both were exceptional. Went to this little gem of a music venue for a concert. Loved it. Great set up for sound and light. Perfect for intimate concerts and gatherings. Only a few hard metal barstools for showgoers, so if booking the venue for cozy, it's not that kind of place. But for standing/dancing/standing room only, it's great. Oh yeah, our British pounds were glowing in the dark. Cool lighting. Next time I'll wear white.

Two of the four rooms are smoker rooms with one of them being a lounge where no direct music is playing. Personally I have enjoyed every visit here. But there is a lot of controversy surrounding this place because of their bouncers being very picky when it comes to people who "don't fit in", which mostly includes foreigners. The situation has improved over the years though so don't hesitate to give this place a try, you can have an enjoyable night here.
