Great traditional pub with a good range of drinks. Friendly staff & a warm atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit for a couple beers. I've not been in while the live music has been on but can imagine this would be a brilliant venue. I will be calling in again very soon.

Came across this pub when trying to find somewhere to enjoy a bit of craic on a Sat night. Was close to the hotel so figured we'd give it a go. It was busy and there was a comedy night upstairs. Everyone was very friendly and the prices were great. Only reason for not giving 5 stars is because I had to go online and create an account to buy tickets to go into the comedy show even tho I was there - they had no way of taking money from us directly; and the ladies wcs were very compact and doors insecure. But we had a fab evening !!

Came here as Fresh Meat (Channel 4 show) was filmed here! Staff were very friendly and helpful! Had a few drinks very reasonably priced before going for dinner 🥰

Good small cozy theater for local theater projects! Went for a play here and would like to go back for more. However bar staff could be better with customer service. Felt like they didn't care about the orders and they were too busy talking to their friends. Bathrooms are horrible.

As a friend had a voucher for 30% food discount, we popped in here for lunch. The pub opened a little later than it was supposed to. I chose the Ultimate Southern-Fried Chicken Burger, which came with fries. I didn’t get all the dips mentioned, and the whole meal was nothing special at all. In a word, serviceable.

I’ve been coming here for 30 years, it was the Adelphi back then. It’s changed hands many times and they all seem to have great ideas for the place that come to nowt and it’s a shame. it has so much potential but is just being left to go to pot really. It has a great outdoor beer garden overlooking the river but it is shabby and weed ridden. When the students have gone home for the hols it is quiet. The food is basic. We come here for the beer garden tbh, hope it keeps going but just wish someone would invest some much needed cash into the place for a do up, it could be amazing!

It’s just a really good cheap pub, no thrills but it’s a good size, got a great outside area (not done up but comfy enough to sit in the sun) really good for casual day drinking without breaking the bank.

The atmosphere with the staff is wonderful! Quiet but reasonably priced for students alongside locals. Haven’t had food. India is very lovely as a member of staff! Very much enjoy quiz nights too!

I don't like posting negatively so I'll start with the good stuff. Location is fantastic, outside area looking over the river which is idyllic. Staff were friendly and helpful, good choice of drinks. We ordered food and I wish we hadn't! The steak was asked for as medium and it was inedible, chewy and very well done. The chips were dry and also over cooked. I would definitely recommend going here and having a drink particularly on a nice day sat outside but I'd eat before/after visiting.

Good was acceptable as was the drink. Staff shortages lead to two people covering the bar, kitchen and tables. A mix up over the lunch deal led to desserts being charged at full price instead of £2.50. Eventually after many apologies the problem was resolved amicably .

Living in Salford since 2018. Decided to finally pop in on the walk home. Didn't know it was an Irish pub judging by the whiskey selection behind the bar. Great to see. However I'm knocking 2 stars off because we aren't in Ireland and they aren't serving cask via sparkler. Shocking scenes. Go down to London for that stuff. London prices too.

Spoilt for choice of beer here (and also Sports channels) - check the boards to see what’s pouring. If in doubt the knowledgeable bar staff will assist. Well worth seeking out - only 5 minutes from Salford Central.

Beautiful spot for some quiet drinks with friends and family, so far have had a great experience with the staff. Especially Sally who’d let us stay long after close to get us more drinks, excellent effort to make us enjoy our experience at this cosy pub.

Had a terrible time ordering myself a drink. Personally don’t know much about Ales so I asked the lady at the bar counter about the best selling ale so I could give it a try. However she was the most rudest bar attendant I have ever met. She said she can’t suggest as she doesn’t know my taste and all of them are best sellers. Extremely disappointed. Never going to visit them again.

Whilst the range of beers was good here, including unfiltered moretti which is fantastic, it is more expensive than it should be for a pub outside the city centre. Unfortunately, I was also served a bitter that had gone off slightly and upon letting the staff know they claimed it was fine. It wasn't undrinkable but would be the kind of beer you'd expect being sold at 50% off. This left a sour taste in my mouth (pun intended).

Loads of tables outside and a large choice of beers. Bartender was nice and chatty and had some knowledge of the whiskeys. Loads of tables to sit on outside. Atmosphere was none existent. I imagine it's better when there is a match on.

Lovely local pub. Lots of options for beer and wines. Usually gluten free options of beer on tap. Gluten free buns available for the burgers. Servers made sure the whole meal was gluten free. Lovely smashed burgers.

This is a great place to come in the day or evening for a drink and some food. There is always a good selection of beers at the bar and some really great food available. It does get busy in the evenings however so come early if you’re after a meal. The decor is pretty cool, wooden beams and girders to reflect a dockyard feel. There are booths with rustic tables and sofas as well as low tables and benches outside which are great in the summer. If you get a window seat you’ll have a nice view of the Blue Peter garden, Imperial War Museum and the plaza outside the BBC. If you’re in Media City this a great place to visit. Thanks for reading

What has this place become? I’ve not been here for years since I stopped working locally. Decided to bring the family and was highly disappointed with the food. Firstly we ordered using the QR code, and despite being unable to order drinks this way and having to go to the bar, we were promoted to leave a service tip (before even receiving any actual service). The food arrived and despite the relatively high price and reasonable presentation, it tasted absolutely dreadful. Chicken was dry and bland (almost powdery tasting), and the Nacho’s were drenched in a foul tasting oil. The pulled short rib was fatty and sickly, tasting like they’d been boiled in a bag. Needless to say we won’t be coming back, and it’s such a shame as the food used to be really nice. Following the food’s arrival, we weren’t spoken to once by a single member of staff, so probably just as well we opted out of leaving the service tip.

Behold the ‘famous spice bag’. Literally just a bag of fries with some onion and a paltry amount of curry sauce. Actually depressing. I paid £10 for a bag of sad fries; robbery. Take a look for yourself (picture included).

After reopening in August 2025 this place is full of disappointments. I miss the old place. Interior isn't the best and the amount of empty glasses all over the bar on Friday was shocking. The only good thing in the bar was a selection of beers. Overall this place is a disappointment.

Guinness not great..... Murphys fantastic 👏 Jamesons...a little expensive Please fix the Guinness for 5 star review. ! Atmosphere and music fantastic as was service. This pub could be fantastic with a push on the Guinness . Cmon guys !!! Great craic

I was looking forward to this place reopening as the salmon of knowledge as I had enjoyed my previous experiences at the northern quarter branch as well as the experiences that I've had when this place was still named "the dockyard" however my experience today has totally ruined that. There was no Guinness zero which another reviewer has pointed out was extremely poor and exclusionary and they immediately ran out of all of the other non alcoholic beers they had in the fridge. The food was okay but definitely not worth the price they're charging and to top it all of there was absolutely no order to how people were getting served as I witnessed multiple people sit at the bar for over 10 minutes without getting served and others turn up to the bar and be served within seconds. I was also quite appalled that the bar manager was sitting at the bar on his break absolutely abusing his vape indoors nearby to a table where children were sitting. Really poor opening night, we left and went to seven brothers instead.

The Blackfriar is a beautifully refurbished pub turned fine restaurant in Manchester city centre. Its elegant, high-end décor makes it the perfect spot for a special occasion. The dishes were delicious – the house-recommended pie was absolutely stunning. Starters and desserts were also spot on. The only downside was that the service was a little slow.

10/10 food was unreal, best steak & ale pie I’ve had in a while (maybe ever!). Vegan girlfriend was also very happy with the selection. Service was top tier, Xavier couldn’t do enough for us. Had a laugh with us & made the night all the more memorable. Definitely recommend!

Came here on a Sunday for the roast and it was delicious. I had the vegetarian roast, which was a cheese and onion pie with all the usual trimmings. The pie was so good, fluffy pastry and a really rich creamy filling. They also made me a very dirty martini, which was spot on. Mark our server was super attentive and friendly. Will definitely be back.

We visited for sunday lunch with no reservation and it was well worth the hour we had to wait for a table. There was a cosy spot by the fire where we were sat with a drink before moving into the dining room. Staff were super friendly. All three food courses were excellent, especially the pork sunday lunch. The wine we had was good too. I recommend you book a table in advance!

Lovely food at The Black Friar Manchester! We had the chicken and leek pie for mains and shared the wings, sourdough, and hash browns for starters everything was reallyyyy good. The outside tavern was so cosy too, with blankets and heating perfect for a relaxed evening. Highly recommend!

Sunday Roast was so yummy and good value for money comes with so much trimmings!! The roast beef was so flavourful and you can even get a pie w trimmings. The anchovy toast was also really good, all the components mixed well together curating the perfect balanced bite. The service was also impeccable, we were served by Mark and he was really helpful with choosing what to eat and he bounced off our table well. Bonus their homemade soda is really nice would recommend

We had such a lovely Sunday lunch here! It’s a cosy, gorgeous pub with great atmosphere and delicious food. I had the Sunday roast — perfectly cooked with crispy roast potatoes and rich gravy — and my partner had the steak, which was spot on. Our waiter Xavier was outstanding. Friendly, attentive and genuinely caring — he made the whole experience feel special without being over the top. Everything ran smoothly and we left feeling really looked after. We’ll definitely be back — and we’ll be asking for Xavier again!

Loved the atmosphere and the drinks here! The food was also good but not great. I had expected more of it. I had a chicken burger which was good but it was completely drenched in sauce. The bun turned super soggy because of it. The service was mostly good except at the end. Because it started to become a lot slower suddenly. It seemed like the focus was more on the bar at that time then on the people still in the restaurant. The drinks were really fun and creative tho! And that was the main reason we went here. They aren't cheap tho! But it's definitely worth getting at least one.

Matt C was our server and he was super accommodating while I was waiting for my friend. The Alchemist is a fun atmosphere if you enjoy people watching 😂 drinks were really different in the best way possible and the food was delicious. It’s all reasonably priced for what you’re receiving, definitely recommend!

Called here for cocktails for a dinner reservation and they didn’t disappoint. I had a strawberry daiquiri which was extremely good, the bar staff were very friendly and attentive, didn’t have food but the food we saw coming out did look good, would definitely recommend the place for a good cocktail and atmosphere. We called at around 1pm on a Saturday and the place was pretty quiet, we did walk past later on in the afternoon and was lot busier, also a good outside area for people watching!!

We had a fantastic night here, made even better by our waiter Pawel who was an absolute star and really looked after us and made our cocktails kept coming 😀 the cocktails were amazing - I would recommend the French kiss - and the food was fantastic - i would recommend the chicken in a basket but definitely order the truffle gravy to go with it! My only criticism would be how long you have to queue at the bar when you are not seated and enjoying table service! So definitely book a table, we did book one but as I was early I queued at the bar for a drink before hand.

Traditional pub in Salford. 10 mins walk from Old Trafford. A United pub but not overly so. Good place to watch football in general but they have Liverpool on a little too often. Good quality food and crazy value if you get the right deal. Staff are always friendly and helpful, especially Kieran.

Cracking pub in Salford selling a good choice of drinks and serving good food all at decent prices. With all the places around Salford and Manchester to eat/drink, its not always easy for somewhere to park. The Matchstick has free parking for customers. The staff are really friendly and helpful. Never too much trouble. You can order from the table using the Green King app. We were watching football on one of the many TVs so was really easy for us. Good selection of food and drinks. The pub is clean, well maintained, other tables around us were cleared quickly when customers had finished and left. We were welcomed at the door and said goodbye when we left. Great atmosphere, great pub. Will return again and again.

Booked a private drinks area for a 21st celebration as my daughter loves the decor in here (insta opportunities everywhere you look!) For me it was the staff that stood out. Really helpful when dropping off and collecting decorations (they stored it all for the following day) and set up the area beautifully. The bottle neck fireworks are fabulous! One very happy daughter - thank you 🥰

We had the private dining area booked for a hen party and menagerie were fantastic from the initial enquiry, numerous queries ahead of our event and the event itself. The service was fantastic on the day, I don’t think anyone’s drink was empty for longer than a minute. The food was delicious (loved the pink sliders!) and we didn’t feel rushed at all!

We went here for Hen party, couldn't fault it, they were over running slightly but this just ment our time started when we got on the table. The team were fabulous and couldn't have been more attentive. The menagrie tipsy tea was lovely and the cocktails flowed, we had a fabulous afternoon x

Loved loved it. If you want to have a nice bottomless brunch with your girls come here. The food was also really nice, most food at bottomless brunch spots is terrible, this exceeded our expectation.

I came here on a hen do of around 10 people and had ordered off the set menu (we had already submitted our starters and mains prior) Before we’d even sat down the waitress asked us to order our puddings. For my starter I had the tempura prawns. It was nice but felt 3 prawns was a bit stingy. On the flip, I had a steak for main and it was super filling with lots of chips and felt like a massive portion. We came here for a 5;30 reservation on a Saturday. I enjoyed the music but it got put on so loud that I couldn’t hear anyone talking to me which I struggled with. It was super busy and we could see that waiters were rushed off their feet

A stunning venue, with everything pink! I was taken here for my hen do and wedding noticed a few other hen parties there as well. We had afternoon tea,the food was absolutely delicious and there was plenty of tea to drink. The menus for meals looked really nice as well and I would love to see one of their events next time!

Food was amazing tasted great, they threw in a sparkler and a happy birthday dish ( without being asked to ) as my friend was wearing a birthday sash. Food and drink was quickly served too and entertainment was great.

Great place for drinks on a sunny day. Called twice. First visit for a cocktail ~ great selection and fantastic staff. Then returned for food. Had Bang Bang salad which was lovely. We were disappointed that they no longer had Orange Wine on the menu. Then we were asked to leave the table so we said we would like a coffee. However, we weren’t offered an alternative table despite there being lots of empty tables available so we said we would take our custom elsewhere! We would have stayed for coffee and then cocktails had we been offered this. A little disappointing to be honest.

We visited The Alchemist to celebrate my son’s 18th birthday, and it couldn’t have been more perfect! From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was buzzing — stylish, vibrant, and full of energy. The cocktails were pure theatre — beautifully presented and full of creativity, just what The Alchemist is famous for! What really made the evening extra special was our server, he was awesome. All of them were absolutely brilliant — friendly, attentive, and genuinely made us feel very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble, and they went out of their way to make my son’s birthday memorable. The food was outstanding, every dish packed with flavour and presented with flair. Combined with the amazing drinks and top-notch service, it made for a night we’ll never forget. Thank you, The Alchemist, for making such a milestone birthday so special. We’ll definitely be back soon!

Brought elderly parents for dinner. We were early but staff promised to text me when the table became available. They text and also came to collect us from the bar area. I'd made a special request for a certain table and we were seated there. Every single member of staff was attentive, friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The best customer service I've experienced in a restaurant in a long time. The food and wine was top notch, as too was the atmosphere. We had a fantastic time and will definitely return. Thank you for making it such a special evening for us!

Albert's Schloss brings a real taste of Oktoberfest to Manchester, and it's hard not to get swept up in the lively yet relaxed atmosphere. We went in the evening and the place was absolutely buzzing with people - it felt festive without being overwhelming. The live performance kicked off around 8pm, adding great energy to the night and making it feel more like an event than just dinner. Food-wise, we shared a platter for four that came piled high with pork knuckles, a variety of sausages, schnitzels, mashed potatoes, vegetables, and sauerkraut. The portion was generous and everything was cooked really well - hearty, comforting food that suited the setting perfectly. Drinks were another highlight, with an extensive selection of beers, wines, and cocktails to choose from. The beer in particular was spot on for the theme. Overall, Albert's Schloss is a great choice if you're after good food, plenty to drink, and a lively night out with a Bavarian twist.

Albert’s Schloss in Manchester never disappoints. I visited on 24th August for Sunday lunch with my Nan, Aunt and two friends for a birthday celebration, and, as usual, it was beautiful. The portions are generous, the pork knuckle was so huge it was impossible to finish, and all the accompaniments were cooked to perfection. From start to finish, the food and service were amazing. I especially want to highlight our waitress, who went absolutely above and beyond when my friend was taken ill and had to leave dinner early. She was outstanding and really tried to make everything better. A huge thank you to her and kudos to the staff. 🙏🏻

​Having recently fallen in love with the food, drink, and atmosphere of Bavaria itself, I was lucky enough to stumble across this restaurant in Manchester via Google Maps. My timing must have been perfect, as the Oktoberfest specials were still running. I must emphasize that this was, without question, the best meal I have ever had at any restaurant, ever. ​The moment I approached, the curb appeal filled me with confidence. The place looked as though it had been lifted straight out of Bavaria and perfectly placed in Manchester. Upon entry, I was blown away. The interior featured a nicely laid-out dining area to the left, a cozy open fire with surrounding seating directly ahead, and large, long wooden tables and benches to the right, all backed by an impressive bar stocked with real German draft beers and a separate cocktail bar to the left. The setting was truly stunning. ​I was seated in a booth and immediately ordered the Schweinshaxe—the Crispy Bavarian roasted pork knuckle. The menu described it perfectly: "brined for 12 hours before being rubbed in spices and roasted for 3 hours. Served with braised red cabbage and apple and a rich red wine gravy." I paired it with a real Bavarian Weißbier (wheat beer), it was simply divine. The pork nuckle was huge and mainly meat which was fork tender and not too fatty, it had the most perfect crackling too. The braised red cabbage and red wine gravy paid beautifully and cut through the richness of the meat, all that for £19.50. This dish is too good to be seasonal; they absolutely need to add it to the menu all year round! ​The staff were brilliant throughout the meal. I was served by Alexandro, who was exceptionally polite and attentive. The combination of incredible food, authentic atmosphere, and excellent service made for an unforgettable dining experience

Had a great night out! The food was spot on, and the drinks were perfect—definitely no complaints there. The team really made the experience special with their warm welcomes and checking in on us throughout the night. Only downside was the music was a bit too loud to have a decent chat, but everything else was a solid 10/10. Looking forward to coming back!

I just celebrated my birthday and book release ("Sun-Kissed and Sidetracked") here, and I couldn’t be happier! The service was top-notch; the team greeted me warmly and made me feel really special. The food and drinks were delicious, and everything came out super fast. A lovely complementary dessert plate made my day. I can’t recommend this place enough for anyone wanting a memorable meal! Looking forward to our next visit!

We visited for a birthday lunch, joined by my wife and daughter. We ordered three drinks – a Long Island Iced Tea, a Virgin Mojito, and a Forest Fruit Sour – all of which were well presented and enjoyable. For food, we had the Schweinshaxe, Schnitzel Cordon Bleu, and Mushroom & Spinach Mafalde. The Schweinshaxe came with a side of sauerkraut which was slightly on the sweet side – quite different from what I’ve had in Germany. While the sweetness might have been intended to balance the richness of the pork knuckle, it didn’t quite cut through the fattiness as expected. The crackling was perfectly crisp and the fatty layer underneath was soft and flavourful, but the lean meat was a little overcooked and therefore slightly tough. The Schnitzel Cordon Bleu was nicely prepared overall, though the texture of the meat was on the firm side – perhaps due to the cut used. The highlight of the meal was definitely the Mushroom & Spinach Mafalde. The pasta had a delightful chewiness, and the sauce was rich, creamy and full of flavour. Overall, the food was quite good, though the seasoning leaned a little heavy for my taste. The service, however, was excellent – Greg was polite, friendly and had a great sense of humour, and the other male waiter, though he didn’t mention his name, was equally courteous.

Had a fantastic experience here tonight. One of my favourite dishes when I go to Germany is Schweinhaxe. As it is Oktoberfest season, this was on the menu as a special... so I had to didnt I? Started with a warm pretzel served with a sweet sticky mustard sauce and pickled sliced cucumber. Delish!!! I ordered the afore mentioned main with roasted potatoes. I didn't really need them, as the portion was huge, but they were also delicious as was the spiced red cabbage the knuckle sat on. Tender pork with crunchy and chewy crackling, all washed down with superb beer. A grand meal! I hadnt booked, but was accommodated with my dog. Overall, a great atmosphere, beer and food. But what was OUTSTANDING was the service from Afi, my server, who was incredibly friendly and attentive. Great service makes such a difference. I wont hesitate to return when I'm next in Manchester!

The ambience is amazing and very elegant. We attended there for my birthday celebration and the staff were very welcoming from the start to the end of our visit. Our waiter ,Nancy, was brilliant! From explaining the food , making recommendations and taking extremely good pictures of us. The service was excellent, quick and stress free. She made our evening and the meal more enjoyable. We got 2 starters and 2 mains. Unfortunately the food does not meet the standards of the atmosphere as it was quite bland. I would not advise you to order the chicken dishes as we found it quite bland ( no taste, no salt).However, their seafood was better and delicious. I got the prawns. Their terrace is perfect for a hot summer day or night meal, but if you don’t smoke or can’t stand the smell you might want to sit inside.

Dinner with the most fabulous views of Manchester. After our son completed the Manchester Half Marathon, we wanted to eat somewhere nice to celebrate. We booked 20 stories the evening before. The decor & service great. Nice selection of professionally made drinks. Food delicious, 3 out of the 4 of us had the beef Sunday roast, excellent value at £26. It came with a side of cauliflower cheese, clean plates all round. Would highly recommended even going for drinks as they have a fab outdoors area with blankets and heaters too.

We went to the blackout / candlelight evening on Sunday. Food was pretty good and it was a set menu. My husband enjoyed his more than myself. I’m vegan and the food was good 7.5/10 but I wasn’t full! I felt like going for a bag a chips afterwards!!! The main course was little more than a small potato and a medium sized beetroot! A shame because the place was lit beautifully and the views of Manchester were superb. Our server Daniel needs a huge mention and recognition as we both felt he was outstanding. He was lovely and very attentive without being overbearing. He had the knack of knowing when to chat and offer service and was personable and respectful and polite. Had a great manner and was a credit to the restaurant. We would definitely return but would hope for a better menu. After all it was £100 per person and to leave unsatisfied was a disappointment

We had a lovely dinner here the other night to celebrate our anniversary and our server was the wonderful Nancy who despite having a full section of tables throughout our entire meal was so attentive and professional. She made us feel so welcome and helped make our celebration so special. We loved our dinner and will return for other special occasions because of the attention to detail Nancy had and how all of her reccomendations hit the mark.

Always wanted to go here but never got around to it and we’ve now been twice in the last two weeks. We only went in for a drink, once in the day and once at night. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The views you get of Manchester were breathtaking and I’d recommend going both in the day time and at night. I had an IPA which was really nice and not too overpriced considering the venue and experience you get.

First time at 20 Stories, my wife booked it for my 40th and we both absolutely loved it. The service was amazing, food was great and despite the Manchester rain the atmosphere was brilliant even on the terrace. Special mention to Ella the hostess who was brilliant throughout the whole process, booking to leaving. We will definitely be coming back!

Lovely pub with absolutely gorgeous decor and amazing service. The food however, is not it. We only enjoyed our small plates and snacks, and the vegetarian options. The other plates were not very interesting for the price. I also ordered the steak done medium rare, and it was clearly rare (still pink on the outside). Will definitely go back for the drinks though, the cocktails are lovely and the vibes are immaculate.

This place restaurant is special to my partner and I. It’s been the restaurant of choice for a few momentous occasions, we love the architecture, the vibe and the food. We had family in town and decided to share our ‘happy spot’. We were shown to our table straight away and settled in. The menu has changed but it’s still a collection of small and large plates good for sharing or as a main with a side dish. Sadly I don’t think our waitress was ‘in the mood’ to work that evening… We had a few allergies within our group that needed some discussion, she clearly didn’t know the menu and seemed to be busy in her head with other things than the job at hand… We wanted to venture down the wine list but again there was no advice or knowledge. The food was delicious and side dishes abundant as usual but the lack of service continued, we had to find and even cajole our server every time we wanted to order additional items. We shared a few desserts and quickly left after begrudgingly paying service charge for no service! Working in the industry We hate to remove the service charge as the team need to tips…. Funny though, she was quick enough to write her name on the £250 bill when it arrived. We did e mail the hotel to give some feedback but sadly a month later still no reply. We love this place and the hospitality industry is a tough place to be right now. We take the time to feedback because we care. Thank you

The food at refuge is always fantastic and this time was no different, shout out to the hispi cabbage with miso and duck fat crumble, it was unbelievable, also the beef cheek nugget soo very good. The service was ok but considering how quiet the restaurant was we had to wait quite a while to order food, once ordered it came quickly they also did not add all we had ordered so there was a few things missing but to be honest we would have orders too much if we had got it all. We orders cocktails at the end of the meal which were pretty disappointing, that’s the second time in a row where that has been the case now and expected it to be a blip last time. It’s such a shame as we have always loved going here for cocktails. It won’t stop us going for food as there are other drinks obviously but not sure we would order a cocktail again.

The Refuge is truly one of Manchester’s hidden gems. The atmosphere is absolutely stunning a perfect blend of historic charm and modern elegance. I went there for dinner with friends, and everything from start to finish was flawless. The staff were incredibly friendly and professional, making us feel well taken care of without being intrusive. The food was outstanding fresh, flavorful, and beautifully served. We also tried a few cocktails, which were some of the best I’ve had in the city. Whether you’re going for a special occasion, a date night, or just drinks with friends, The Refuge never disappoints. I can’t wait to go back!

Me and my boyfriend went for our anniversary and got the roast for 2 which was £69 (HAHAH) It was so good! The pork was especially good with the crispy skin, the gravy was thick and the cauliflower cheese was crispy and super cheesy. Dessert were amazing too, I recommend the caramel tart or the pudding with PROPER custard.

Really cool and chilled place... No much noise not much movement but the food is amazing.. well at least the risotto and the wine and the staff were really nice and also chilled! Really enjoyed it!

Fantastic pub! This is the first time I have been in 15 years (since when I used to work there), it's just a shame that the whiskeys are gone. But I'm sure there's a reason. Still a cracking pub!

Great old english pub, but no longer vhiskey pub.

This is a gem of a place which looks and feels quaint, old British and charming. It fosters vibrant meetings and has some exquisite Victorian decor (if a tad unkempt). I already notice the William Morris wallpaper in the function room upstairs has been painted over, so I'm a bit worried that this direction might continue under the new (corporate ) owner, thus stripping it of its precious historic character. We have very few of these old pubs left, and it would hurt the local community endlessly for the Briton's Protection to also slip into mid grey corporate sludge. Historic heritage needs to be protected not painted over.

The wall art in the entrance corridor is meant to be by a Manchester United fan who has incorporated United players into the paintings - see photos:

A truly amazing pub. Just down the street from The Peveril. Tons of history in here. Lots of unique drinking rooms. Front bar is isolated from the rest of the pub. There’s even a beer garden! Great draft and cask options and a lovely bar staff. Just can’t beat a place like this.

One of the best, friendliest whisky bars I have been to. Alan is a real whisky lover and knows everything about them. The bar is full of rare independet bottlings and you can get very well priced tasting flights. Our few hours there went so fast drinking and talking about whisky I barely noticed it. Will come back for sure! Absolutely recommended!

We had a cocktail making class for my best friends hen do at the liquor store yesterday. The experience was amazing, so much better than any chain we’d been too. The drinks were gorgeous, we weren’t rushed in anyway and got beautiful cocktails that we made. We were asked what sort of drinks we’d like to make so got a choice to make sure nobody was left out. Special alcohol free were also made for one of the hens that was pregnant! I can’t thank the team enough they were honestly absolutely amazing and really made it such a fun experience! Would absolutely recommend to anyone 👏

This might just be my favourite bar in Manchester. We booked part of the venue out for a party of about 70 and from first email to the end of the event Doug and his team were so helpful, kind and accommodating. The atmosphere was incredible, with fairly reasonably priced drinks for smack bang in the city centre. Everyone loved it and we can’t wait to visit again!

Only had cocktails but all of them were fantastic! Great vibe to the place and really enjoyed it. Will go back next time we’re in Manchester.

Out in Manchester with my fiancée for my birthday weekend, we chose this bar as our first stop. Quiet at first as we came early, but we could not fault the place. The guys working were absolutely, and they genuinely get the place going. Great service, great⁸ interaction with the customers,they even got us free shots for my 40th birthday, which we didn't expect. Brilliant music playlist as well. The might got better as it got busier and busier. Let's just say we didn't go anywhere else after being in there. Thanks again

I did put a review in on another site but I thought I’d get my Google one in, this was from a few months ago. This place was absolutely amazing and I really mean it, one of the best bars I’ve ever been to. The music was spot on and the decor was amazing. It really did embody Manchester at its finest. The bartender who opened up was class and quite hilarious and when the other ones turned up they were just the same. The cocktail menu is literally perfect and the ghostbuster sharer is just so worth the price it’s unreal. The only note I could make is that they don’t do food, if they did…. It could be a contender for the place place in Manchester but I understand it’s a bar not a restaurant and they don’t wanna expand by building a kitchen and hiring chefs etc.

A lovely looking venue, lots of outdoor seating and comfy sofas inside. Friendly service however the name is a bit decieving as the craft bar selection on draft is poor. There are two cask ales on which looks like they rotate and one true craft beer, again a lovely guest from Ponoma on this occasion. Shipyard IPA and Brooklyn Pilsner are Carlsberg Marston brands and Peroni is also on tap. The fridge behind the bar looks more promising but awkward to see what is in it.

31/10/22: a quick stop off before watching The Shawshank Redemption at The Lowry. Quite a poor selection of draft craft ale. The name does not depict the venue and sadly lets it down. About 4 craft ale lines, the rest was lager. Standard brews, nothing out of the ordinary. However, they did have a fully stocked beer fridge with cans and bottles. I felt we would have been better suited staying in The Dockyard that had plenty more choice on draft. Chose to have Polly's Brewery pale ale and a Best Bitter.

Was such a great experience. My first time there and was on match day for the derby. Full of United fans and made me feel welcome and was an amazing atmosphere... YANITEDDDDDD ❤🔴❤

A techno phobe, hardly any charge on my phone, in the total wrong part of the city when I should have been at The Lowry Hotel at a business conference that had started an hour earlier! Very poor service, ordered pizza got it wrong once, second pizza ordered to replace still got it wrong. All I asked was the spice beef to come off and not to replace it but they did replace it with chicken tikka, asked for refund but refused, police involved because the pizza staff was being discriminating against boyfriend, full refund given. Won't be going back to Central pizza ever again after getting order wrong and not listening. They discriminate my boyfriend they should go back home to where they come from or speak English better

I ordered just one pizza via ubereats and it took 2 hours of waiting for it not to come and it wouldn’t let me cancel the order because they said it was on its way, yet when I rang 45 minutes later they said they’d have to wait for a driver because of traffic and it would be with me in 20 minutes. Then they rang me back after the 20 minutes and told me they would be able to get it to me in 20 minutes again. Never got the food and they offered no help whatsoever.

Awful customer service. Avoid!. Ordered food and waited between the arrival was 12:35-12:55. Call at 1:15 to be told it will be 10 mins. At 1:28 called again to be asked for post code of my hotel which whilst I was looking for it they hung up. I rang back again and just told they will contact the courier. Still nothing. I contacted again to be told 10 minutes once again. Over 1 hour 30 later. What a mess

Well, I believe we've found the worst food service in Manchester. Congratulations to you Central grill. I just wish we had checked the reviews before hand. The garlic brick was a standout performer. Along with fingernail patterned cheesecake, didnt know it was a thing until now. Over an hour late, cold, driver with a big smile on his face because when we called up to ask about where it was, we get told hes been stuck in traffic, why lie... we can see traffic on Google maps. You're 1mile from our house. And you took 90min to deliver awful service and awful food. Maybe you should pay attention to these reviews and actually improve your business!

If I could rate worse I would. the delivery driver dropped all of my Oder on the floor so I rang up the place asking for a refund or for them to resend another and the manager has said he will resend everything Tomorrow because they were very busy so I thought okay i understand and we agreed on and then next day we turn up to the place and he called us liars and never gave us the food, very rude staff absolutely appalling very unprofessional

Ordered this on Uber. It took 2 hours, received half of my food that was cold as hell the other half was pink chicken and gravy with floating bits in it. When after updates in my food I ended up getting blocked and ignored having to ring from a friend's number to actually get through to them. I wish I could give a lower review

Very disgusting food, the sikh lady was extremely rude with me she said deliveries are first priority not customers walking in. She refused to take order then took order and made us wait 40 minutes for our order. Not Recommendable At All.

Cool and quirky bar free pool very Americanised with friendly staff. Midweek £3 hot dogs were gorgeous! Open very late it's a cool place to try The 1* atmosphere is because it was empty but I think on a weekend (I went weds) it's worth a try for certain

First time in Manchester, and this is the third bar we visited—by far the best experience yet! The service was outstanding, and we were made to feel so welcomed from the moment we arrived. The staff were attentive, which created great atmosphere.

Cool little spot in Manchester. Hot dog was good value for money. Good selection of beers and cocktails on offer. They have a pool table that could do with a little TLC, but it's free to play, so beggars can't be choosers. Would definitely recommend as starting meet up point for a night on the town. Or a place just to hang out in all night. Enjoyed it.

I took my friend to show him what I think is one of the most amazing pubs in Manchester, with great history, however when we visited at about 14.20 on Wednesday ( just in case the owner wants to speak to her ) the person behind the bar was the most miserable, unpleasant, uninterested bar person I have come across in a long time , she even struggled to ask for our order she was so disinterested Even when people were coming in from graduation, who were all very excited she just couldn’t be bothered speaking to anyone , apart from her friend at the end of the bar If I do visit again , and she is there we will just walk straight out and go somewhere we are welcome

Id heard of this place online and always wanted to go, so when my mum decided she wanted to for her 50th I was super excited. I LOVED this place as an escape room and small business (and alcohol) lover. This place is so unique and well made, along with some of the best and nicest service I've had from an establishment. Good fun and not even fussed about the price because the whole place and uniqueness of the drinks makes it entirely worth it!! Server with a mustache(sorry hun we weren't sure of your name) was incredible and made the experience 10x better, as well as making us feel very welcome. As a hospitality worker myself, my partner and I were also so impressed with our servers ability to remember not just our entire order without writing it but the ingredients of them just off the top of his head.

I’ve always heard about this place and I can’t remember why I’ve never been but now I’ve finally been, I know I’ll be going again! Conceptually this place is perfect, the theme I got was conspiracy theories (there definitely needs to be a cocktail about jet fuel and steel beams iykyk) but the rest of them were very intriguing. The staff really know their stuff and you can tell they are super passionate about everything that goes into this place, even one waiter shared my same idea that we don’t like creamy cocktails but the alien abduction was an excellent recommendation from him and it was actually a belting cocktail. I just wish I could have stayed longer, there was also no DJ in the toilet, i understand 12pm is early but for a Saturday I’d have expected one to be on all day.

You call up a phone when you arrive, get given instructions, and then enter through what looks like a vending machine, it’s fun and definitely different. Unfortunately, the rest of the night didn’t quite match the exciting start. It took over 40 minutes just to get our drinks, which was really frustrating. When they finally arrived, they were nice, but at £30 for two drinks, it felt way too expensive, especially for the service. The toilets were clean, but since they were unisex, it felt a bit uncomfortable. Overall, it’s a fun place to try once for the experience, but with the slow service and high prices, I wouldn’t be in a rush to go back.

Visited late Saturday 14th of June thankfully with the show we had been at running over we still was able to visit. If i could give 6 stars I would for the staff they explained each drink we ordered perfectly. Now the only letdown was we booked the tour to the secret bar but weren't told it was closed so we only got the drink that came with the tour so please make sure you give ya self-time for that as your spending more time upstairs due to the drinks are nice and ur wanting more.

So you approach a seemingly normal laundrette, enter the tiny room confused about your evening plans (wait, should I have brought my washing with me?) and pick up the phone on the wall. You get invited to "inspect the vending machine" which opens up into the beautiful atmospheric washroom bar. If that experience wasnt dazzling enough youre then given a menu filled with wild and wonderful cocktails all based around different conspiracy theories and told there is a hidden menu found within! The staff were wonderful, explaining each conspiracy theory and how it relates to your cocktail with such joy, it was hard not to get excited with them! The drinks were all delicious and given the time and budget I would have tried every single cocktail on the menu. I had "birds aren't real", "nessie" (still trying to figure out how they made this drink taste like raspberry shortbread!) and one of the drinks from their secret menu. My friend was extremely happy with her "Bermuda triangle" cocktail that came with a magnetic spinner and tiny boat to reenact an adorable mini whirlpool. Honestly the best bar Ive ever been to, it was fantastical and I felt giddy and amazed the entire time.

The experience was amazing! When we enter, all we see are some washing machines and a vending machine, and pulling a door leads us to this amazing cocktail bar. The drinks were unique, too, and some even required us to solve puzzles. Highly recommend it!

Nice dark cozy quiet vibe as expected from a speakeasy. The gentleman serving us was very helpful and knowledgable. They do their own fruit infusions which make cocktails unique and memorable. Perfect execution by proper mixologists passionated for their craft of sharing tasting experiences. As much as it is pricey, it is worth a visit. The menu is a piece of art as well.

Absolutely loved Speak in Code! From the person who greeted us at the door to everyone working inside, the staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The cocktails were next level, creative, perfectly balanced, and beautifully presented. Definitely try their demo cocktails. Unique and so well-crafted! The atmosphere is intimate and stylish, with great music and a cozy vibe. One important tip: make a reservation, seriously, you’ll need it, because it gets busy and it’s totally worth it. Easily one of the best cocktail bars in Manchester, and I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town.

My partner and I have visited Speak in Code a number of times now, and yesterday we got to sit in their new Studio space for the first time for some end of night anniversary cocktails. This is without a doubt my favourite place to get cocktails in the city. Not only are the drinks exceptional (and they really really are) but the bar staff are so friendly and accommodating and always willing to answer any questions. You can tell they love what they do and the proof is in the cocktails themselves. Big shoutout to Little Jo for making our anniversary one to remember : )

An absolute must! We visit every time we’re in Manchester and the cocktails are incredible - something for everyone. Joe looked after us and was so knowledgeable about the ingredients etc but also just an absolute angel. The atmosphere is impeccable - can’t recommend enough.

One of the best, if not the best, cocktail bars in Manchester. The menu is so creative and innovative. Nearly all their drinks incorporate house-made ingredients, such as infusions, distillations, and other laboratory based techniques. And they’re delicious! The staff are very welcoming, friendly and efficient. They operate a well-organised booking system, with clear choices for how long you’d like the table for, and they will hold you to this when it’s busy. To maintain their cosy, intimate feel they have a strict limit on group sizes that they allow and I saw them turning away several larger groups, which I was pleased to see!

What a place! Cannot recommend this bar highly enough. Decent cocktails. Highly experienced and attentive staff. Beautiful ambience and chilled vibe. Definitely worth a visit. You will not be disappointed.

Will never be coming back to this establishment again! It was a shared bathroom with no lock on the door! Dirty sheets, dirty towels that had spiders in them, rust on the mat in the bathroom!! Mattress felt like a PE mat with springs! Landlord would rather get drunk with the punters then spend the money on the hotel refurbing the rooms!!! We moved the wardrobe and there was a little door going into a different room!!! The film hostel comes to mind #pleasewatch, none of the appliance in the bedroom wasn’t pat tested since 2015…. please avoid at all cost

Really central location for exploring the main attractions in the city centres of both Manchester and Salford, and right outside Salford City railway station. Friendly manager and staff, with a lively pub on the ground floor playing host to live music at the weekend.

I cancelled the booking as I didn't like the area and the rubbish that was shown in one of the adverts about the hotel.

We had a good experience. Owner and staff are very kind and nice to us. Rooms are good in low price.

Excellent, hidden bar that oozes quality. Enjoyed a number of cocktails including the vodka martini which was superb. Would have stayed longer but out late train was cancelled so had to leave earlier. Next time will add on the absinthe lounge.

As a non-drinker, I loved this place! Their mocktails were delicious – no bitterness or harshness, just great flavor. The "Lollipop Meltdown" was so fun to watch melt and sweeten the drink! The staff provided excellent service, chatting with us and sharing the stories behind the drinks. Highly recommended!

PHD re-opened a few weeks ago after what they call a “metamorphosis”. The entrance has changed which is more convenient but still slightly challenging to find. It is now opposite caravan and near Aviva studios. PHD is truly (if not the best but) one of the best bars in town. With 1950s Jazz atmosphere. Cocktails are delicately prepared to the finest. Bartenders are very skilled at making at off menu drinks. Highly recommended

The perfect cocktail bar. Without a doubt the best overall bar experience in Manchester. The cocktails are expertly curated, mixed and delivered. The setting, the music and the staff are all excellent and contribute to a truly amazing experience. This venue and it's menu are not to be missed.

We’ve been meaning to visit Project Halcyon for a while, and it was absolutely worth the wait. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted, seated, and given an introduction to the drinks menu and the fascinating history of the place, all while enjoying incredible live music. The band was fantastic, and the volume was just right so you could still chat. Nathan was outstanding. He guided us through the entire menu, gave us a tour, and even crafted a personalised drink just for me. His knowledge, energy, and attention to detail really made the experience unforgettable. As much as I’d love to keep this hidden gem to ourselves, we’ll definitely be bringing friends and family back. Project Halcyon is an absolute must-visit in Manchester, amazing from start to finish!

Absolutely brilliant! Happened upon Project Halcyon Distillery while in Manchester on a Sunday and we were super impressed. Underground secret hideaway bar and distillery offering the most wonderful cocktails from original mixes, own takes on classics and of course a full classic option. Barman and Waiter both highly professional, knowledgeable, helpful and worth their weight in gold. We'll be back, and will be recommending to everyone Go on.... ring the bell and give it a try, you wont regret it.

Great pub in the heart of Salford, very tipical British pub. Ive been living 10years in the area and visited for the 1st time. Great welcome from the girl at the bar and the regulars. There is a seperate area with a pool table perfect for a few games other than just drinks. Definitely will visit again.

An exceptionally welcoming and hospitable establishment. Our haven when we were trying to figure out accommodation plans. Visited during the week with a reservation — the place wasn’t too crowded. I’d recommend booking a table if you’re going on a weekend or with a large group. The highlight of the meal was definitely the chicken wings, which our server suggested. The jerk chicken, goat curry, rice, and fries were just okay. The drink (a mocktail, though I forgot its name) was excellent.

Turtle Bay was an absolute delight! Every dish we tried was bursting with Caribbean flavour; the mango chicken, pork belly, goat curry, and jerk chicken were all outstanding. The highlight was definitely the Mo Bay sauce on the mango chicken, sweet and tangy perfection, and the plantains were to die for. Meg and Rach were amazing too. They were so warm, friendly, and genuinely made the experience even better. 10/10 would come back for another round. A true taste of the Caribbean right here! 🌴🔥

Super friendly and helpful making sure we had water on the table when waiting and helping change our order after we realised an error we’d made. They both made the experience a great one!

We had such a wonderful experience at Turtle Bay, Oxford Road. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, calm, cosy, and relaxed, especially as we visited a few hours before closing. The music was perfectly balanced, adding to the ambience without overwhelming the conversation. Megan was exceptional. She was friendly attentive, courteous, kind, and genuinely thoughtful throughout our visit. She made sure we felt looked after from the moment we arrived. She explained the menu clearly and gave some great personal recommendations which we really appreciate - it added real value to our experience. Megan went above and beyond to ensure everything was just right. The food was full of flavour. I had the jerk chicken with the sauce on the side and my mum had the surf and turf. While the portion of beef on the bone was modest, it was still delicious and well-prepared. A great balance of ambience, service, and food. We would be very happy to return.

Food was absolutely delicious. I myself had the Mo’bay pasta with garlic flatbread and dumplings. The pasta was nicely flavoured and not too spicy. The chicken which was cooked perfectly allowed itself to be taken over by the pastas flavour and it was a perfect combination. The drinks were amazing , the cherry sling has a strong tang to it but still quite strong alcohol wise. The service was really good, our waitress Or made sure we had everything we needed. The food came speedily and the atmosphere is full of raggae vibes and sweet fragrance in the air. 10/10

I needed a place to eat last minute and late at night with a guest visiting Manchester and it ended up being a great decision. We got the pasta, salmon, rice & beans and the sweetcorn’s fritters. And for drinks a passion fruit cocktail and beer. And it was all truly delicious, very filling and great value. The staff were all lovely, but we were served by Jenny who was particularly attentive and friendly!! Thank you turtle bay for making our evening quick meal into something truly special!

The beef was advertised as being served pink, but mine arrived fully cooked through, and the pork belly lacked the crisp crackling that makes it a standout. A bit of a letdown, considering the promising start and overall good service.

Trof in the Northern Quarter is a great spot for casual food and drinks. The vibe is relaxed with a vintage feel, spread over a few cosy floors. I’ve had brunch and Sunday roast here, both solid. Service is friendly and the playlist is always on point. The roast comes with crisp potatoes, rich gravy, and a proper Yorkshire pudding. They also do a decent veggie burger. It’s not overly busy on weekdays, so it works well for a quiet pint or catch-up. The drinks menu is varied with good bourbon choices. A reliable place that doesn’t overdo it.

We went in for a roast after a long walk the other day and were really looking forward to some nice food. Unfortunately the roast was subpar, as was the pigs in blankets and the cauliflower cheese. Firstly: the roast. Our Yorkshire pudding was burnt (and the table next to us was also), the chicken was dry and the potatoes weren’t cooked properly on the inside. However, the veg and gravy were very good and saved it a bit. Secondly: the pigs in blankets. They weren’t cooked to my liking and then sausage was a bit soft inside, and the bacon was no where near as crispy as it should be. They looked a bit anemic in general. Lastly, the cauliflower cheese looked incredible and we only ordered it after seeing the table next to us get one. However, once you’re past the top of the dish, it’s just a bit underwhelming. Don’t let the look of it fool you, the cheese all seems to be on top and cooked to look nice but wouldn’t recommend.

I visited on Saturday 19th April with myself and the other half for a spot of lunch time food. I had the chop of the week which was the Old Spot (pork) and was very nice they had the fish pie which looked just equally appetising. We both enjoyed the food and the drinks/service were faultless. I’ve been numerous times before and never had a bad experience. Finally getting around to doing a review.

As first timers, the staff was very accommodating and guided us to get the perfect Sunday roast! Both were very flavorful and filling.

Would I make the trip especially for the food. Probably not, but if I was in town its not bad. Its clean and staff are friendly. Beer is cold. Sticky toffee pudding was the stand out for the day. Order extra ice cream with it but its not cheap.

Food was stunning best roast in Manchester. But the staff were if not better, with Ben and Natasha making us feel welcome and providing extensive about the whole menu. Couldn’t recommend more with high staff morale being present through, and that translating to food and drinks

Very good gin tasting session we have. The place was very comfortable with good vibes. All their staff were very friendly and approachable. Very comprehensive drink menu on all type of alcohol. Value for money experience if you asked me.

We had the BEST time on the gin tour and gin making. Steven was so knowledgeable and personable it was a fantastic learning experience as well as being so fun. Absolutely wonderful I can't rate this highly enough for gin enthusiasts! (Ps they have whisky and rum too)

Awesome gin tasting/crafting evening hosted by Danielle. Do not drive! During the 3 hours you learn about both gin and the history of Manchester Gin/Three Little Words. You will taste 5 neat gins (single measures) with descriptions of each, along with a neat rum and 2 G&Ts. Based on what you've learned (and advice) you will craft your own 70cl bottle of gin from NGS to take home. All in all an excellent evening. Thank-you.

Popped in on a Thursday night, they were having a party to celebrate their 5th birthday. Had a lovely couple of cocktails and got a free mini bottle of their birthday gin to go as well.

We had a great experience at Manchester Gin. We were gifted a voucher for “Gin Making for Two” and used it on a Sunday. Our host was really friendly, knowledgable and made this lots of fun. We were welcomed with a cocktail, followed by a gin tasting and tour, and at the end distilled our own bottle of gin. My only comment would be to spread the tasting over a longer period of time (at least during the gin making experiences) as it was a bit much drinking all five varieties one after another! I’d recommend this to anyone who likes gin.

There's a great soundtrack that continues to play in this place. Popped in for a quick afternoon bite on a trip into town so no live music at the time. Had the ox cheek nuggets... Damn they were good. Little explosions of tender pulled meat in crispy coating. Fries were good - hot and crispy but perhaps portion a little small for a fiver! Really friendly service! Perhaps a few more choices for draught beer wouldn't hurt. Camden Hells but not Camden Pale?! Need to come back during live music - can imagine has a great atmosphere.

Came here last year April for a late lunch with a friend. We ordered the chicken burger and cheeseburger and did halves. Both were delicious and came with a portion of fries. I really liked the interior of the restaurant too. They have live music playing most nights I believe but the night we went it was just normal music. Would visit again.

The famed London based live music venue's base in the North West. The best bit about this bar is the building fit out, it's a wonder to look at and must have cost an unbelievable amount to decorate. Judging by the setting, a lot of the features were not original but retrofitted in at fit out stage. Worth going in an having a quick look round at what they have done. This must have cost a lot! I was there on a Friday, and it was full (needed a booking). The live band were tight and very accomplished. Would say that the downside to the rather disparate layout of the venue, was it perhaps lacks a bit of atmosphere. The stage is positioned to the side where not everyone can see it and engage with the musicians... it doesn't quite have the buzz of the Camden or Old Street venues. Food menu was a bit different, more out there than other places in the City that stick to the classics. Some will love it, others may not- so check in advance if you're eating. Loads and loads of staff, very attentive. They definitely go for the upsell and can be on the pushy side of friendly (if you get me) Would perhaps recommend a week day evening - for a chill look at fit out and a relaxed drink. Then save your off the hook Fridays for somewhere a bit more pumping. Or if you want a suave and classy lounge bar vibe, there are other places in the City that cater for this a bit better.

We had a fantastic time at The Blues Kitchen Manchester! Our server Emily was absolutely wonderful — so friendly, full of energy, and really attentive throughout the evening. She even gave us the discount even though we forgot our keyring, which was so kind of her! The food and drinks were amazing too. Great vibes, great service, and such a lovely atmosphere. What a great place! Every table was taken, so shows its popularity. Even though it was busy it was well staffed and run really well by attentive and friendly staff . The decor and the feel of the place was a definite vibe. We ate there but there was also seating at the front for drinks only. The food was nice enough. ( We had chicken sandwich and a cheeseburger)No complaints. Would definitely recommend and would return as we just loved the feel of the place. We weren’t there when the live music was on but there was a stage where they regularly have people playing.

We went for a gig at The Lowry and thought we could have a nice experience having a meal here. Bad choice. I ordered a steak pie and got nothing but a chopped teeth. The pastry was hard as a rock and completely empty, no a single piece of meat or even gravy! The best in that plate was the mushy peas and that is high compliment. Avoid eating here. It was highway robbery.

**5 stars - Absolutely brilliant!** Just had the most fantastic lunch at Pier Eight before catching "Dear England" (seriously, bring tissues - what a show!). We'd booked for 11:45 and honestly couldn't have asked for better timing or better food. The staff here are absolutely lovely - the kind of people who make you feel like you're dining with friends rather than just grabbing a quick pre-theatre bite. Genuinely warm, professional, and clearly love what they do. Went for the 3-course set menu and every single dish was spot on. The mackerel pate was a perfect starter, the lamb was cooked beautifully, and the Swiss roll? Well, let's just say I'm still thinking about it! Add in those gorgeous views over the Quays and you've got yourself a proper winner. If you're heading to The Lowry, do yourself a favor and book a table here. The whole team has got this place running like clockwork, and it shows. We'll definitely be back!

Staff are super friendly and helpful. Reasonable prices and delicious food. Especially like the lunch menu and meal of the day. Great feel and atmosphere also manages to feel cozy despite the size and openness of the place. Love the big windows also. Kids play kitchen Is super cute also but doesn't stop the place feeling very grown up friendly .

Delicious pre theater food that won't break the bank at £30 for two courses and £35 for three courses

Food was delicious and service was great with friendly staff. We went for a pre-theatre meal, it was served quickly, but you didn't feel rushed (so you were done in plenty of time to get to the show).

We had a lovely two course dinner. The starters were lovely and a good portion size. The main courses were brilliant with lovely flavours and lots of choice for different dietary requirements. The dinner was delivered quickly with time for an extra drink before the show. The waiter was lovely and the service was quick with no complaints.

We went for a 90s night event on Saturday. I was pleasantly surprised at the size of the place once in. Lots of choice of drinks and bars. Food was great from FUKU. The music even was busy and the atmosphere was great, will think about attending another night at some point.

Amazing & unique all in one entertainment and multiple restaurant complex. The food from Patterson's was some of the best that I have ever had. All the bar staff were very friendly and helpful. It's hard to describe what the place looks like as it's so unique. I really enjoyed my visit and will definitely go back.

I have been a regular at Seconds Carvery since they opened up again this year, it is under new management and they came out with a bang! There is a live DJ playing at the venue every Sunday, the atmosphere is great and very lively but you can still talk easily. The roast beef is served rare/medium rare, or you can ask for it to be cooked for longer to your preference. The Bacon loin is delicious, very juicy and the honey mustard glaze is delightful. The half roast chicken is awesome, also very juicy and the meat comes from the bones very easily. Everything was cooked to perfection! The veggie offerings have also been great, I've so far, only tried the mushroom Wellington and a curry potato pie (for science) but both were super tasty. The trimmings are all great, very fresh and great quality - the yorkshire puddings are immense and the gravy is super tasty. My favourite part is the red cabbage, it has an almost winter spiced taste and it's gorgeous! To top it off, the trimmings are unlimited! Making it great value for money. Overall, a great experience and a lovely carvery. Great to have a good carvery in the city centre!

Visited a couple of weeks ago and managed to get a booking at Ornella's. We wanted to try it for months but we can hardly find last minute tables at the one in Denton. We were seated without delays, the staff were friendly and accommodating. However, the food did not live up to the expectations. We got the fried the fried ravioli as a starter and main the rigatoni alla vodka and the oven baked shells. The starter was too oily and could not have more than a couple. The rigatoni alla vodka was not edible, the amount of alcohol was too much and the dish was bitter. Moreover, the menu was not the same as the one in Denton but more like a short version of it. Unfortunately, we did not enjoy it and was not worth our money. Freight Island was able to deliver as usual. We spent a bit of time outdoors after our meal.

Friendly vibe for sure in here, i remember fixing the doors on here a few years back and always seemed to go for a drink in here. The decor is what makes this place, it’s very old school carnival vibes or like Joker’s funland is the Batman Games. Cocktail choice is plenty and they are super tasty, i remember going to electric shuffle which is the same menu and loving how they make their drinks, especially the trophy.

Never played darts before but I had so much fun! The staff was super friendly amd the atmosphere was great. The place looks amazing. I definitely recommend going here if you're looking for a fun activity in Manchester!

We had a lovely meal here and some really nice wine, but there was some kind of mix up with our order, which was not brought to us at one of the barrels until an hour had passed and we complained, but we did love the atmosphere. We had the summer garden salad and the Mexican pulled pork sandwich. The wine we had was the house white, which was cold and kept in an ice bucket.

An absolute must, what a great place, food and service brilliant! Fantastic DJ atmosphere off the charts. Jugs of cocktails, dancing on the benches all round fabulous few hours. Highly recommend. Only negative toilets need attention

Beautiful venue, really busy so ensure you prebook for special occasions. Time is limited to 90 mins per table. Food was okay, quite plain not much flavour was the feedback from our group. Our party ate the chicken burgers, fries, meat pizza and chicken salad. Service at the bar was horrendous, massive queues, over 20 minutes waiting. It was a super busy sunny Saturday night at 7pm, people were being turned away. When we were eventually served, we ended up doubling up our order, as no table service for drinks. Our food arrived whilst I was in the bar queue! DJ and music was good, great mix of tunes for most tastes. Lots of hen parties and birthday groups catered for. Atmosphere was good that was the bonus for this place. Staff were polite, just not the most efficient apart from the kitchen staff and glass collectors.

We came a month ago for my niece's hen do and the food, service and atmosphere were great with a real party vibe. Unfortunately, heavy rain spoiled the evening, pouring through the ceiling on to our party tables. Sam was really quick to act at the time, moving us to new tables and bringing free drinks; however, he also went above and beyond and invited us back for a complimentary evening. We had hen do no.2 this weekend 😊. Thank you Sam for looking after us; you made it an absolutely wonderful experience - definitely recommend the venue for a party celebration, OUTSTANDING customer care!

My favourite cocktail bar in Ancoats (and probably in Manchester). They make superb classics - martini, negroni etc - but I also love all of their twists. You can tell them what they enjoy and they’ll make something they think you might like. Gorgeous atmosphere, lovely staff, all the vibes 🤍 P.s. their roasts on a Sunday are also top drawer!

Went here for a girls night out. Good vibe and staff are very friendly. However there are very limited food options and they are pricey for the quantity. Ended up spending £40pp for 2 cocktails and a few small plates each.

Absolutely outstanding Sunday Roast at The Jane Ayre. We had the special rolled pork which had delicious crispy crackling, full of flavour and came with stuffing. We had the special side which was red cabbage - divine! The duck fat roast potatoes are sublime!! Attentive staff and lovely atmosphere with a nice autumnal view of the Ancoats square. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’ve walked past this place a few times and finally decided to pop in. It’s actually a really nice place inside, everybody is having a good time partying and singing and the DJ actually plays some decent tunes unlike other places. My only complaints are that the drinks cost a bomb for what you’re getting and the chairs near the bar are way too small, they dig into your side and unless you’re a skinny model, you cannot fit.

Had a bottomless brunch to celebrate a birthday on a Saturday night!! The service was exceptional. We had the whole of the upstairs. We were asked regularly for our drink orders and believe me I lost count of how many drinks we had, definitely got our moneys worth. The food was ok, maybe a bit more variety could be offered, but we knew the menu before we went 😉

I came in recently to check out the new menu and was pleasantly surprised. There’s a nice mix of familiar favorites and some creative new additions. You can tell some real thought went into updating the options. I tried the Boneless Jerk Chicken, and it was excellent, flavorful, and well-cooked. The Mac& cheese was also a standout. Portion sizes are fair, and the pricing feels reasonable for what you get. Service was friendly as always, and the staff seemed excited about the new offerings, which was nice to see. Overall, a great refresh that makes me want to come back and try more. Definitely worth a visit if you haven’t been in a while.

Disappointing Came with 3 friends for bottomless brunch. On booking the menu was pan Asian however it had changed a week later as Jamaican food. I usually love Jamaican food but this was disappointing. They had no plantain or tempura prawns in stock. The starters came at the same time the the mains which wasn’t ideal. The jerk chicken was rubbery and flavourless and the curry goat did not seem like goat meat and was very dry. The cocktail selection for bottomless brunch was all very sweet so not great for some members of my party. By 3 drinks in we felt sick due to the amount of sugar in even the less juice based drinks. Overall not great at all . Far better bottomless brunches at literally any other location in Manchester

Service is immaculate. Bar tender Jonathon is particularly superb. He took me out after closing and bought me breakfast. We now talk on the phone everyday as he wants to ensure I keep my mojo! Cocktail bar set in Deansgate, a good time was had by all. Had cocktail making lessons with Caz in which we were “forced” to not just make cocktails but drink them. The gang had a great time and Caz dealt with our weird dysfunctional crowd very well/

Incredible first visit to Schofield’s- it’s clear why they are 3rd best bar in the UK! Exceptional service from very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Incredible cocktails (best Bloody Mary I’ve ever had) and an excellent playlist. Cannot recommend Schofield’s more highly!

Simply amazing the whole ambiance is just perfect a classy bar with attentive waiters . Loved it the Manhattan blew my mind soooo strong . I will be back old northern soul track too . Loved it Back again for a busy sunny Friday again rammed perfect loved it the margaritas and Long Island iced teas kept on flowing . Highly recommended but thankfully door staff turning away the great unwashed 😁

I’ve finally come to SCHOFIELD’S BAR, Manchester’s “best” cocktail bar. Personally I wouldn’t say it is but it certainly isn’t far off. I think what makes it such a contender is the bartenders, overly welcoming ✔️ Caring ✔️ Knowledgeable ✔️ Well presented and dressed ✔️ I love how they will basically make you anything you want and they make that known too. Ultimately I prefer Bljnker which is the same owners, maybe that’s just cause of the delicious toasties though, but the aircon in Schofield is hard to beat.

Really fantastic location. Team were really friendly and experts on making good cocktails. Atmosphere is so nice with its dim lights. Really feels cosy and cute. Was perfect for a drink after a date.

Second time we visited and Ella was so incredibly welcoming and recommended some amazing cocktails! I was already convinced this is an amazing cocktail bar, however this reemphasized how welcoming this is ❤️ Stumbled upon by accident, but enjoyed some amazing cocktails. Staff are extremely friendly and cocktails are delicious. Just make sure you like ginger if you're going to order penicillin

I was really impressed with the drinks and service. I tried the brigadoon, Irish coffee and Miami keys. Irish coffee was hands down the best followed by the Miami keys. It’s a little tight in the seating area so probably not good for big groups.

My friends and I visited this place on a peak summer sunshine Thursday early evening. We found a table right away despite it being busy (as expected) whilst people were taking advantage of the outdoor seating area. The food arrived quickly and was delicious! It has a great atmosphere, friendly and upbeat. Great background music too. Well worth a visit.

Great atmosphere and very busy. Really nice venue. Food came quickly but was very disappointing. I ordered from Slap and Pickle. Hans Solo burger with fries £13.50. I could not eat the fries as they looked and tasted awful. The burger was not much better and had several lumps of gristle.

Great place tucked away behind Bridgewater Hall. Good atmosphere, great outdoor area next to a fountain. We had food from Slap and Pickle and Manzoku. Food was great, good portion size and weve still not found anywhere else yet that beats Slap and Pickle for the best burgers. Staff at both places are lovely, helpful and friendly. Will be going back 😁

Young and hip place. Went there for lunch on a Friday. Not at all busy. Could imagine it would be hard to find room after working hours. Only tried the pizza but would highly recommend. At lunchtime the outdoor seating was in the shadows so bring a jacket if you are sensitive to wind.

Decent. An array of great vendors, something for everyone. Atmosphere very busy, very loud too. Definitely a place with more groups than couples. Service was fast and ordered through the QR code and the food came to the table. Do remember to bring ID, got asked for it upon arrival.

A lovely place to head to for a few beers, food was 50/50 (Might've been just a once off as it was quite busy). Definitely a place to stop by to enjoy a beer outside!

Love to go here with family and friends visiting Manchester. Great location and always a lovely vibe whether it’s for lunch or dinner. Food selection is great and so is the bar. Service can be a little bit slow if there’s loads of people but not ages and the staff as lovely!

Niall was amazing. Our bill got mixed up, however Niall was so nice about it and ensured it was corrected. He was so attentive and nice. Such a nice man and deserves all the tips!! Would 100% be coming back 🤩🤩

Together with another family with young children we visited Sixes before a football match for lunch. Everything was very clean, good food was served quickly, and the lady in charge cleared up a mix-up with my reservation very professionally. She made us all feel very welcome. The kids had a great time in the cricket nets. It was great that you can adjust the speed of the bowling for each player so that everyone had a challenge. Firstly we have to say we do love this place and despite living over 30 miles away we go get more than our local pub! We have 2 children a girl aged 10 and a little lad aged 6 and they both love cricket and enjoy trips to Old Trafford for the Blast and the Hundred. On our last trip we were fortunate enough to be offered a discounted net due to feedback from our previous session which was just a genuine point around ensuring staff are clear on the changes to the game format they had recently brought in as it was confusing. The staff led by Grace couldn’t do enough for us both pre and during the session for us and the kids. It was so nice that I wanted to be able to buy food as a bit of a thank you but they had run out of most things due to the popularity of bookings which wasn’t an issue. Kids enjoyed their net as usual with both kids getting their highest score ever at 96 and 51, my better half a hundred and Grace and her staff get to host the youngests 7th birthday party off the back of it so everyone’s a winner! Everything aside a great social occasion and adaptable to all needs. Thanks guys and might see you soon 🏏 🌹

We took advantage of the recent off peak 50% discount which made it excellent value! Really fun activity (even if you’re not very good at cricket)! The venue is an all round good vibe and well decorated. There is also a free games room with pool table etc that we could use whilst we waited as we were early. Lovely staff and we can’t wait to try it again!

The whole team especially Grace were outstanding and made our evening so enjoyable. They could not do enough and ensured it was fun even though we turned up late.Cricket is great fun. Games room was superb with so much to do. Food was really good and came out when we wanted.

Fun place for something a bit different, good value for money on cocktails and fun to try and hit some balls with the bats. Goes quickly because you’re constant rotating around your group.

Really nice experience at the brewery. Paul was very knowledgeable about the history of the brewery and the brewing process and answered every question. Plus 6 Beers to sample, what more could you want? Good 2+ hour experience

I like the beer but I was disappointed with the customer service related to a voucher I had. I had a voucher for a brewery tour (with no expiry date) that I couldn't use for a while due to COVID. After COVID I tried to use the voucher and was told they no longer operated the tour, which is fair enough. They did offer a beer tasting session instead but then stopped responding to my multiple emails when I actually tried to book that in. I also offered to have the money back as a refund or bar tab but got no response. Still unresolved. Quite disappointed.

What a great venue and would highly recommend. I organised a 50th birthday party at the tap room. I found the experience to be great. Paul and the team are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. On the night everyone commented on how good and quirky the venue was. The space can easily fit 50 plus people in such a great setting. Thanks again guys for a great night.

November 2022: not been back to the Weaste site since 2017, but have frequented the Ancoats Taphouse many times. November 2017: found these photos from way back. Eventually became a very small investor. Still love the beer. Still love the beer, brewery and flavours. Excellent decision to open up the taproom in Ancoats!

Great experience for the beer and ale sampler, plenty of choices straight from the vat, good atmosphere indoors and out but it is out of town so bring a driver. They will offer you a taster if you need to try before you buy.

A great bar, in the same building as the brewing equipment, with a keg wall serving the Seven Bro7hers products at their freshest. I did a brewery trip a few years ago but hadn't been back since - I won't be making it so long between visits next time!

What an amazing venue. Where do I start. Came to see the wonderful and talented Sophie B Hawkins. She didn't disappoint, nor did the girls supporting her. The music was in the intimate pink room, good sound. This place has it all, roof top bar and an outside beer garden. A bar on every floor, and also serve top notch vegan & vegetarian food. Pizza and Fries were yummy. Staff are so friendly. Came for the gig, and I will return for the venue. Loved it.

The music played last night created an exciting atmosphere for all in attendance. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves with the bands performing on stage. It was also appreciated that the drinks were reasonably priced. The overall vibe contributed to an enjoyable experience during the evening. Overall, it was a great night.

Wow what a great venue. Upstairs you have cocktails, fresh pizza and bouquets of chips served until late with plenty of seated areas. Then downstairs is an intimate stage area with aircon. Loved how shelves run along the sides so you can prop your drink while boogying . This is my sort of venue anyway very intimate.

Loved this place and the view right next to it (see pic). The roofterrace is such a gem and really unique. The long drinks were very affordable. And the toilets immaculate!! What more do you want?

I really liked it here, the staff were good and the show we saw was excellent, so good for an intimate performance. But, in the basement, the beer was warm. I mentioned it and no one really seemed to care. It's kind of basic stuff. If someone came to my house and I gave them a warm beer I'd be pretty embarrassed about it. Fix your cooling system and you're smashing it.

Beautiful venue, from the decor to the pink room and the rooftop space. Only bad experience I've had was last night with one of the staff members working at the pizza joint - he was incredibly rude and spoke to me in a very condescending manner.

The Pink Room at Yes is an absolute gem of a venue — small, intimate, and full of character. The acoustics are surprisingly good for such a compact space, with sound that’s clear, rich, and perfectly balanced. You can feel every note and lyric resonate around the room. It’s the kind of place where you can really lose yourself in the music — no massive crowds, no distractions, just pure atmosphere. If you love live music in a close, vibrant setting, The Pink Room is definitely worth a visit.

I came to Manchester to visit the university and had seen Atlas Bar online. I wanted to visit because it looked really cute but it completely surpassed my expectations. The bartender, Naomi, was extremely knowledgeable about gin. I believe she said Atlas carries around 580 different types of gin. My mom did not think she liked gin at all but Naomi helped her sample a few different ones until she found a couple that she really likes and wants to try at home now! Not only did Naomi offer a lot of information about gin, she also was very kind and friendly to us and told us about life in Manchester. We felt very taken care of by Naomi and Natalie who were both lovely and were lucky enough to have a seat on the back patio, which was very comfortable with the heaters despite the cold weather outside. We had a fantastic time and I can’t wait to return on my next visit to Manchester.

We are frequent visitors to Atlas Bar and every time we arrive we are greeted by very friendly staff and are always made to feel welcome. The food is delicious 😋. Naomi is fantastic and a credit to the bar, she always goes above and beyond . Would highly recommend. UPDATE: I visited here today with 12 other friends from work. I would like to thank Naomi and all the staff who always make my visit special. They are always extremely helpful and nothing is ever too much trouble. The atmosphere is fantastic it has a lovely vibe and the food is simply gorgeous. Keep up the good work.

Edit to add: Atlas Bar's unprofessional and unaccountable response to my genuine review has cemented that I'll never go back. Very unfortunate. How are they supposed to see tone of voice and facial smirks from CCTV? They are family run, they know the person I'm complaining about so they instinctively take an opposition to me - and blame me for not raising issue with management. It shouldn't be on the customer to keep management appraised of problems. Had I wanted to raise an issue I could have done so directly with the individual I'm complaining about but I wasn't there to manage their bar. Instead of seeing this review as "damaging", to them, tunnel vision on their own ego, I wish they'd seen the negative experience being reported and made any attempt to put it right. Original review: Used to always love coming in here for a drink. Went in last night (Sunday 23/2/25) about 8pm and the blonde behind the bar was absolutely seething with rage. Either at me or at her own life and her own journey through this world who knows. Did my best British politeness with minimal interactions but she didn't warm up one ioata. Whiskey was good, food was great, just the atmosphere was brought down from the usual Atlas Bar experience and service would have been better from a robot. Overall just unfortunate.

Went for a midday brunch date with my boyfriend. We had the full English, eggs royale and oat iced lattes. Everything was spot on! They clearly use premium products such as the sausages and baked beans. The atmosphere was lovely, warm and inviting. We were served by Eliana and Ned who were both very helpful and engaging. We will definitely be back and looking forward to see what the place is like for drinks in the evening :)

As I sit here, wiping the final remnants of the most amazing breakfast from the corner of my mouth, I thought it worthy to put a review on for this wonderful place. Extremely tasty breakfast (whatever they did with the tomatoes... I will one day hunt down for myself!), super friendly service and lovely chilled Thursday morning vibe. Looking forward to my next visit when I am in Manchester next!
