Kaffeehaus Riquet Café is a century-old art nouveau café in Leipzig, offering a unique Viennese tradition experience. The café's history dates back to 1745, with its architectural gem featuring oriental influences incorporated by architect Paul Lange in 1908. The restored art deco interior provides a cozy atmosphere to enjoy Leipzig's signature sweet, Leipziger Lerche.
What a really unexpected surprise! The café was beautifully furnished with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere that made me feel instantly relaxed. The food was absolutely delicious, full of flavor and so well presented. And the cake – it was truly outstanding, the perfect finish to the meal. A place I’d be more than happy to return to again.
Elyana K — Google review
After a stroll through town, we decided to stop for a quick indulgence — and this café, with its tempting pastry display, drew us in. We ordered a slice of the house specialty and one of the nougat cake, accompanied by a cup of tea and a coffee. The house cake was excellent — well-balanced, creamy, with a subtle sweetness that didn’t try too hard. The nougat cake tasted just fine, but it arrived broken into two pieces, and this was simply ignored when served. At these prices, one would expect more care and attention to detail — especially when it comes to presentation. The drinks were decent — nothing remarkable, but they did their job. What left more of an impression, though, was the service. While one or two staff members were pleasant enough, most of them moved and spoke with the kind of energy that made you feel like placing a second order was an inconvenience. There was a noticeable lack of warmth. The interior leans into a French-inspired aesthetic, which could be charming — but the space felt a bit cramped and overfilled. With some thoughtful adjustments, it could become far more inviting. That said, if you’re here strictly for the cake, you’ll be just fine. But if you’re expecting a memorable café experience from start to finish, you may leave wishing for a bit more hospitality and a little less attitude.
Sven O — Google review
The café itself is undeniably beautiful, with a charming atmosphere and an impressive display of cakes. At first glance, it looks like the perfect spot. Unfortunately, the reality does not match the appearance. The cakes, although visually appealing, were extremely dry, dense, and not moist at all, far from the quality one would expect. The bruschetta was also very disappointing: just a slice of bread with chopped tomatoes on top, not even toasted. The service was, unfortunately, one of the worst parts of the visit. If you are not from here, do not trust the positive reviews. The staff was very unfriendly and unhelpful. When they did not understand what we wanted, they sighed loudly and made us show photos of the cakes instead of simply allowing us to point to them in the display. When we tried to describe the cake, the staff refused, saying they only accept orders by the exact name. Even then, when they didn’t understand the name, they eventually allowed us to point, but only after much insistence. To add to this, when ordering bruschetta, the staff corrected our pronunciation. This was ironic since we are descendants of Italians and know the correct pronunciation, which makes us wonder how other guests might be treated if they happen to pronounce something differently. It is also important to note that the café was almost empty at the time of our visit, with only three other tables occupied besides ours. We were there before 9 a.m., so the poor service cannot be explained by the place being busy or overwhelmed. And even if the café had been full, that would not excuse the lack of courtesy and professionalism we experienced. Overall, while the setting of Kaffeehaus Riquet is beautiful, the food is of very poor quality and the service is unwelcoming at best. A disappointing experience that we would not recommend.
Patrícia — Google review
Brilliant service! We walked right upstairs and were greeted by a waitress who invited us to have a seat anywhere we’d like. We had a Kaffee Riquet, an Elefantenkaffee, a Leipziger lerche, a Bach Torte, and a Wiener Torte. To be honest, we found the drinks and cakes underwhelming. The only thing that we could say we loved was the Leipziger Lerche. The two kinds of coffee were “interesting” to taste, but do not expect them to taste like modern day coffee. Anyway, we went there, well aware of the value of Cafe Riquet as a place of history. It didn’t surprise us that the food didn’t meet our expectation. We went there mainly to experience the taste and the ambiance of the past.
Soonyata M — Google review
The restaurant was full and some seating was available upstairs. The tables are very small and the restaurant is not very spacious. As you can see the food we ordered didn't fit on the table we had to resort to leaving other plates we hadn't finished and then eating what was brought out. Service was very slow but expected as it's busy. I'd recommend reserving as some tables were in undesirable places like in front of the door or in hallways. Really nice selection of teas and drinks too.
Devina A — Google review
Very cute and dreamy cafè that makes you desperate to have that one-night to spend with the love of your life romance, the French vibes mixed with the rich history — that they are not afraid to share — is a perfect mix with their heavenly vienna chocolate and their rich cakes. The food and drinks are worth their money and are fair for not only the delectables but also for the nice staff and interesting people you might get the chance of meeting there. The €20-30 price p.p. was for a full breakfast with food and drinks.
Ethan E — Google review
I was sat immediately at a table by a window today, with my dog. Busy staff but professional and attentive. The “maracuja” cake looked good but barely tasted of passion fruit. I paid 10 Euros for fresh mint tea and cake which I found reasonable. I didn’t stay long though as it was busy.

Inside everything looks good but service personal isn't kind and very slow. Taste is good but not worth the wait.

Café Maître and Pâtisserie is a charming art nouveau café and patisserie that has been delighting guests for over a century with its French-inspired interior and cuisine. The breakfast menu offers a variety of French delicacies, from simple combinations like croissants with jam to more elaborate platters designed to be shared.
My partner and I went for breakfast to this place. We ordered a breakfast for two. We also ordered coffee for both of us. The breakfast was perfect for two or three person's. This breakfast was our breakfast and lunch. The staff is very friendly and they speak English. You can pay by card or cash. Of course, we will come back soon.

Came here without reservation, and since it was full, I dined outside (it was still cute as it was sunny anyway) but great food! Lovely service! That onion soup 😍😍😍 ugh! To die for!
Marcelino L — Google review
Best French toast I have ever had. The coffee wasn't good and the service was also quite bad. However the place is worth visiting if you wanna see nice deco and have a very nice French toast.
Lina C — Google review
Very nice spot, nice beers and we had the quiche which was very delicious. Sadly the service wasn't what you would expect. One of the waiters was wearing his AirPods. Over all they were still nice but we had to wait a long time for some orders. Overall still a good place.
Boris B — Google review
Has a great breakfast here, waiting time somewhat exceed the normal, but it was all very tasty and of quality. Waitress was friendly, though somewhat lacking in information when asked to explain several stuff on the menu. They have a shop too, worth a visit. Price is pretty high, but all in all we were not disappointed

Very sweet waitresses that speak English, delicious food, drinks and desserts! There’s also a English menu option and it’s very warm inside, perfect for this autumn cold 🍂☕️

Just stopped in for a coffee because the outdoor seating was so inviting and made for good people. Watching. The dishes being served around me looked very good, especially the smoked salmon and egg open face sandwich. I will definitely be back to try the food.
Sam S — Google review
I’ve grabbed my coffee a few times from there, but the last time, the lady who works there (at the ice cream bar) approached me and said, “We don’t have water, so you can’t place your usual order!” It was 9am, and I thought, okay, no problem. I grabbed my coffee from a different place, but on my way back a few minutes later, I found a bunch of people drinking their coffee both outside and inside the café 😅! I believe I know the reason behind the incident since I’m not a local!! Very disappointing and absolutely disgusting behaviour 🤮

Café Luise is a relaxed spot with a spacious terrace and a bar, offering an array of salads, wraps, coffee, and cocktails. Located just a short walk from Leipzig's city center and major attractions, it's advisable to reserve a table for a leisurely weekend breakfast.
I had a nice brunch time in Luise on the weekend. The staff are very friendly and they also brought water for our dog!! So kind! I would definitely visit again! And there were already many people who were sitting outside on the weekend for brunch, so it’s better to book if you want to sit outside :)

Lovely place for a quick brunch in Leipzig as we were heading to the city centre, with great polite staff. I don’t understand why they charge for a glass of water, though. Very peculiar.
Christina K — Google review
This time I visited Café Luise for breakfast and the truth is that the Omelette with different vegetables was a good choice, plus it came with a small portion of salad 😊 It was exquisite so I recommend it!
Constanza S — Google review
ordered the sweet potato and brussel sprouts stir fry and it was vile. the sweet potato was raw and the brussel sprouts were clearly boiled not fried and tasted like fart. the portion was also quite small but i still couldn’t finish it. it also cost €15 for that
Sophie K — Google review
The food and drinks were really good, I loved having breakfast here! They have a variety of food and drinks to offer. The location is beautiful, you can sit inside as well as outside and there's a lot of space. Also, the staff members were really friendly.

Tasty breakfast, bread is included (not visible in the photo). Coffee is good as well. Nice atmosphere, a bit noisy for my taste but it is a big place. We've waited rather long for the waitress at some point. I would go back here!

best chicken burger in town We come to Luise on a regular basis and I must say it has the best chicken burger in town. All the food is good but portions can be a bit small. If you are really hungry get the fat-man-burger. It’s big. Also the basil-smash-cocktail is to die for.

Barfusz, located in the heart of Leipzig, is a versatile venue that offers a variety of experiences. From trendy cocktails and flatbreads to a breakfast buffet featuring an array of options including muesli, sweet and savory spreads, breads, warm dishes like meatballs and soups. The establishment has transformed from its historical roots as a destination for monks to its current status as a multifaceted hotspot within the bustling Barfussgasschen.
Awesome place to chill with friends. Good coffee, good food, nice and helpful waiters. But quite pricy though! The location is very central. Recommended!

Had a business lunch with "all you can eat" option for 12,9 euro per person. Quite good. Not perfect but I will check again later to create a full picture. Drinks are not included in "all you can eat". There is a choice between chicken, pork, fish (baked in egg). They have rice, Pommes, vegetables (also with cheese). Four salads to choose from. Two kinds of soups. Bread. Different sauses. Personal are friendly.

Good little place Food was pretty good, service could have been a little better but over all a nice spot. Would come again
M. M — Google review
A pleasant restaurant located on a narrow street between similar places. The staff were very nice and friendly, although there was a slight misunderstanding because we didn't speak German and the staff didn't speak English. We chose dishes from the seasonal menu featuring chanterelle mushrooms. The quality and presentation of the dishes deserve high praise. The price is average, roughly in line with the class of the establishment.
Sergei U — Google review
Great breakfast buffet with a wide variety of options and very professional service. 100% recommended!
Laura — Google review
The first thing I noticed when walking in was the background music, which was mostly inaudible, apart from the bass line. Some people like this, so not a complaint, rather an observation. We ordered two burgers, and drinks. My coke was flat, so I asked for a replacement. The replacement was also flat. I guess it came from the same bottle. The burgers arrived and were cold. I ordered a smashed burger, but what arrived was a limp slop of minced beef, and it was cold. The other burger was a regular cheeseburger, and that too was only lukewarm. Unfortunately we cut our visit short then and there, paid €16 for two drinks which we left and went somewhere else.

If you're wandering through the Lindenau neighborhood of Leipzig, make sure to stop by süß + salzig, a charming cafe that perfectly balances a relaxed atmosphere with an enticing menu. This delightful spot offers a variety of brunch options, from sweet pastries slathered in jam and chocolate spread to hearty muesli and yogurt. For those who prefer plant-based meals, there are plenty of vegetarian and vegan choices available, featuring delicious hummus, olive tapenade, and seitan.
The restaurant has a great selection of vegan, vegetarian and meaty breakfast and friendly staff The restaurant is quite busy on weekend mornings so it's worth it to reserve a table.

Absolutely gorgeous no frills breakfast options with nice coffee, served in a beautifully decorated cafe. There’s plenty of indoor seating with comfy cushions and lots of outdoor seating in the front and rear of the location. This spot is located on a quiet street that will allow you to enjoy a quick bite and drink or a long brunch session with your friends.

We went for a brunch at 10am and the place was packed. Would suggest making a prior reservation. Breads and croissants were served hot and we really like them. Everything was fresh. Cappuccino was good but the highlight was Kakao with cream. Vegetarian breakfast was nice and so was the Süß klein breakfast. Even with the packed tables, the place didn’t feel chaotic or loud. We will visit again!

thank you for not disappointing us from the good ratings! good food and friendly staff yet reasonable price! of course we were sitting outside during corona time.. the atmosphere was still nice and welcoming. Totally recommend
MJ — Google review
Very simply decorated- alternative/hipster cafe. The menu (only in German language) offers both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. We came on a weekend and they had the breakfast buffet [from 10am to 2pm], so we decided to try it. The place was almost full and the atmosphere was warm. The stuff was friendly. The food at the buffet was simple but fresh, we especially liked the tomato-mozzarella salad and the hummus. However, all salads (hummus, olive salad, tomato sauce, seitan) were [TOO] salty. Overall a good place to eat breakfast in a calm atmosphere, thought the buffet price, which is 8,90€ (drinks not included) is a bit over priced. The photos of the place were taken when everyone left after the buffet hour was over.
Vlada M — Google review
They serve breakfast in the mornings, lunch from 12, then in the afternoon burgers and snacks and finally in the evening it turns into a bar. You can get beers, cocktails and a wide variety of wines. The interior is very basic. Also quite inexpensive. Child friendly. Visited by the locals, I had the impression.
Ludo R — Google review
The weekend buffet brunch is very nice. I wish they had only vegan/vegetarian food and not some meat and dairy dishes. The staff is very nice, and the service is good. Unfortunately (and surprisingly) they don't have English menus.

Nice place to get good and funny donuts 🍩 Must try place
Dan — Google review
i’ve bought one donut for around 2,75€. i’m used to sugary meals/drinks but that was something else. i’ve bought the unicorn donut and of course i thought it’s gonna be sweet but the amount of sugar in it really shocked me, it didn’t even taste that good. it was just a waste of money. also the “staff” (more like one lady working there) was kinda rude and was just on her phone even while talking to me. this is just an extra information it has nothing to do with my review but if is closed eventhough they are supposed to be open, the lady is going somewhere into the staff room - give her 5-10 minutes and she’ll return.
Ada N — Google review
Couldn't tell you if it was laziness or racism, but serving two customers and then telling the next that you're closed with an extremely bad attitude is bad service, especially when they are still open. Will not be going back.
John — Google review
I do understand that DD is not paying that much - to be honest probably nobody is these days. That just doesn’t justify the fact how unprepared the employees are. Every single time there is a queue that takes forever! Today i was in a hurry - the employee had to get every single ingredient for a cold latte from the back - to then just say - oh sorry we let out of oat milk - can i get you an almond one. No, thank you, i’m allergic to nuts &co. You should be prepared before your shift starts. You gotta check what’s there and what’s not. I’m sorry but doing 20% is not enough. It’s ridiculous how the DD quality in Germany is worlds apart from the US. Not to mention the price and value difference.
Nuklearnaaa — Google review
This outlet serves fresh donuts always. Althought they are not technically fresh but still soft and tastes fresh. I just have one concern that the staff doesnt know if a specific donut contains gelatin or not or animal ingredient. I would take vegan but it would be great if I could also try vegetarisch ones as I love boston creme. Follow me on Instagram @Foodgram_germany for food experiences around Germany

I always thought that this is a great place, but i have to tell them that they have to be carefull when they choose their workers or cashiers. Otherwise i will call them "Nazis"!!! She was really rude to me today, and i already told my group about what happened. We will never buy donuts from them as well as the "pink hair girl" is there!
Maria M — Google review
be careful, the cashiers try to rip you off if you don't pay attention. The cashier promoted a 12 Donut Box for 11€ and in the end she charged me for 2x 6piece boxes. I know times are bad but thats just idiotic, now i will never go back there.

Café Cantona is a trendy spot located in the vibrant Karl-Heine-Strasse, offering a bright space with live soccer broadcasts. It's popular among Leipzig's students, especially on weekends when they can enjoy a late breakfast until 3 pm. The menu features standard items like pastries and sandwiches, as well as German regional specialties such as Bavarian sausage and pretzel breakfast, alongside international dishes.
I called to ask for a late breakfast/brunch option. Even though I was late for the breakfast menu hours, the receptionist/waiter gladly accepted my request and made an exception. I was served with an extraordinary English breakfast (possibly the best in Leipzig!). Generous portion, great presentation and incredible taste. Minimalistic yet comforting ambiance This experience made my day/afternoon! Thank you <3

Macis Leipzig - Biobäckerei is an organic bakery located in Leipzig, Germany. They offer a wide variety of delicious and healthy baked goods, including breads, pastries, cakes, and cookies. While some customers found the prices to be high, others appreciated the quality of the products. The bakery also offers vegan croissants and is open on Sundays. Customers have praised their excellent croissants, meringues, and bread.
Fav bakery of town. You can grab a coffee with cinnamon rolls or croissant. They have also bio-market behind of it.
Meryem K — Google review
We were quite disappointed with both the cinnamon roll and croissant which we bought. Price was extremely high and we would have been happy with that if the taste had even been just very good. Though fresh, the quality was bordering on poor, however. A good grocery store bakery could be counted on for much better. The associated grocery store/deli appeared to have many fine products, though prices looked high, but this is city center and it’s a very attractive store.
Reginald W — Google review
Very friendly staff, lots of vegan option and very tasty!
Alison K — Google review
I buy their bread sometimes and am quite satisfied with the quality. I think prices are a bit high for certain products, but it's bio + city center, so maybe that justifies it somehow. I didn't like Kastenbrot though, it was too oily. But Landbrot and baguette are good.
Ilya K — Google review
Expensive but nice. There are vegan croissants! The bakery coffee is not great but the cafe coffee is. It's confusing, you'd have to run to two places to get a nice take away coffee with your croissant 🤪. If you get coffee at the bakery you can't sit at the restaurant tables even if there are no other customers. Lol, they should just integrate their businesses a bit better and this place would be unbeatable.

I've never been treated unfriendly, and unfortunately, that's worth a lot in today's society. Furthermore, the baked goods are fantastic. I've tried a few other bakeries in Leipzig (for a quick snack) and none of them have impressed me as much :) They have a good selection and the bread is really delicious.

(Translated by Google) The salespeople are always friendly, no matter how busy the store is. The offer is very good. It's a shame that the bakery closes so early. But it opens at 7 a.m.

(Translated by Google) Baked goods are okay and taste good. The selection is clear and reliably always offers the same thing. A big minus is the hygienic handling of the saleswomen. The baked goods are wrapped without gloves or tongs (depending on the saleswoman present). Between rings on your fingers, changing money, blowing your nose, making coffee, using the cash register and packing or repacking the goods is an absolute no-go.

(Translated by Google) There are delicious bread and rolls here. We particularly liked the braids and cheese rolls. But the sweet pastries and cakes are always tasty. And we always receive friendly service.

(Translated by Google) One of the few bakers where bread AND cake taste equally good. The sheet cakes are exceptionally good - my favorites: poppy seed, cherry and almond cake 😊 (Original) Einer der wenigen Bäcker, bei denen Brot UND Kuchen gleichermaßen gut schmecken.

(Translated by Google) The pastries 🥮 are fresh and delicious. The staff is also very nice. I think there is too little Choice at the bakery but otherwise there is from me ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Original) Das Gebäck 🥮 ist frisch und lecker.

The plucked cake is a standout favorite among visitors, celebrated for its incredible taste and quality that reflects true craftsmanship.
(Translated by Google) I have no choice but to give it 5 stars. Bought lots of delicious rolls today! If I'm in the area again and I'm hungry, you'll meet me in exactly this bakery, not in any other. Thank you for existing.

(Translated by Google) Delicious cakes and tarts It's always super tasty. The staff is always friendly and the counter always looks clean. The only downside, however, is that you have to climb 3 or 4 high flights of stairs to get to the store. This is not ideal for new moms with strollers.

(Translated by Google) Great rolls and the best croissants but one of the two waitresses is very unfriendly, which is why I often go to another bakery. Because I just don't feel like this situation. What is also very questionable is that the rolls are still given in plastic bags. When I asked why that was the case, I was told that these bags are cheaper. 😦 If I don't want it, I should bring my own bag. Which is basically true, but it doesn't solve the problem that this baker distributes plastic bags.

(Translated by Google) Just not good! The goods all taste like pre-bake and thawed frozen goods, starting with the (cheese) rolls, the pancakes (the jam tastes so much like chewing gum and industrial and not like real four-fruit jam!!!), the apple turnover right up to this walnut brittle tart. No real natural taste, no aromas that are known and expected from real baked goods, no mouthfeel when chewing, the consistency, the pores, everything screams so much of ready-made stuff and purchased industrial goods that are just unpacked or thawed must. And yes, I am a trained baker myself and recognize real goods from finished goods. And yes again: the saleswoman is, as many others have often mentioned here, very unfriendly. Sometimes you wonder which owner could have so little idea about personnel qualities in the area of service. I've been driving past the store for months and always wanted to take a look because it looks really cute and attractive from the outside. Now I regret it. Even at the "den's" opposite I can expect tastier things than here, especially since these goods are all pre-baked or frozen. Such a shame!!! So schade!!!

(Translated by Google) The rolls and croissants are highly recommended. We go there at least once a week and have noticed that the friendliness of the service really depends on the day. Unfortunately, sometimes it's borderline for our taste. This detracts from the otherwise very positive impression of Gey Bakery.
