La Belle Baguette is a charming bakery and cafe located in Saint-Boniface, Winnipeg's French quarter. Founded by pastry chef Alix Loiselle, the establishment takes pride in using local ingredients such as wheat from Prairie Flour Mills to create a variety of delectable pastries, breads, and desserts. The menu includes eclairs, croissants, tarts, cookies, and the traditional French dessert pets-de-seour.
I recently visited La Belle Baguette and tried their brownie cheesecake, éclair, and chai latte. Everything was absolutely delicious! The brownie cheesecake was rich and creamy, and the éclair was fresh with the perfect filling. The chai latte was smooth and comforting—really nice with the pastries. The bakery also has a good variety of treats like quiches, cheesecakes, and pies, so there’s something for everyone. The indoor space is quite small with only about four seats, but they have outdoor seating available too, which is a nice option on a warm day. It’s a cozy little spot with a great selection of baked goods.

Amazing place with delicious food! This is now my favourite bakery in Winnipeg! Desserts are really tasty and without a lot of sugar (unlike in many bakeries in Winnipeg). The assortment is huge. But I came 2 hours before closure, so better to visit it earlier.)
Alyona P — Google review
I was visiting Winnipeg from out of town and I happened to come across this bakery on Google. I ended up going for breakfast. Overall, service was great, baked goods were fresh and delicious, and it was a great way to spend a calm morning reading a book and drinking their iced latte. I highly recommend it!

Biking thru this coffee shop many times so I decided to try them out. The line was crazy lol but staff was super nice and patient. I grabbed a matcha latte and a small bakery. It was super tasty and I will definitely come back next time. Keep in mind, there are not many seats tho

Small but mighty is the best way to describe this unique little bakery in the heart of St. Boniface. I have been a regular at La Belle Baguette for 3 years now ever since i moved into the neighbourhood. Every single time I come, I am met with exceptional customer service without fail. The girls are always smiling and getting to know everyone and making a personable lasting impression. The pastries speak for themselves but they are marvellous, every. single. time. With new feature items every month they keep you on your toes. They switched ownership to Empty Cup about two years ago and initially i was worried they’d clean house and switch the recipes, but to my excitement they kept a great thing great. Looking forward to many more visits to get my daily dose of La Belle Baguette.

This is my favorite place for baked sweets in Winnipeg. They have an amazing selection and are reasonably priced. Only thing to take note of is if you want to take advantage of their selection, show up early! La Belle Baguette is well loved and will occasionally run out of select items quickly, though if you ask them if they'll be making more of a specific item they will let you know and you can put an order to pick up at a later time.
Kyle M — Google review
Great bread and pastries. It reminds me of my time in Paris. It’s funny because this bakery is very similar to the good boulangerie in Paris in terms of space and how busy it is.
Anmo L — Google review
The food here is undeniably excellent. However, the customer service is severely lacking. Staff appear disengaged and unwelcoming—basic courtesies like eye contact or a simple greeting are ignored. One of the counter attendants was particularly unpleasant, showing no effort to acknowledge customers or create a positive atmosphere. Regardless of how good the food is, such poor service makes the overall experience disappointing. In contrast, Le Croissant offers not only great food but also genuinely warm and attentive service. The difference is night and day. Wont be coming back here anymore. Their service adds stress to my already stressful day. IF YOURE LOOKING TO BRIGHTEN UP YOUR DAY WITH A SIP OF COFFEE AND NICE CROISSANTS, DONT COME HERE.

High Tea Bakery is a stylish bakeshop located in Winnipeg, Canada. Owned by Belinda, it offers an exceptional selection of cookies, cupcakes, and pastries. The bakery also boasts an extensive array of teas and espresso drinks. Visitors rave about the Imperial Cookies, Lemon Poppyseed Shortbread, Cardamom Caramel cookies, Raspberry Coconut Thumbprints, and macaroons available at High Tea Bakery.
Me and a family member went here the other day, and it was the best thing ever. The cookies. The service. Everything. I would definitely recommend, the imperial cookie was by far the best as well. The pictures I have linked were from this experience.

I have ordered many times over the years year as you can see from the photos attached. However my most recent order tasted great I was really disappointed by this companies service. My order was almost $300 in total and was 3 large bags that my partner was barely managing to carry out of the store, the store was empty and not a single person offer to even open the door for him. Our cupcakes spilled over because he could barely manage it all. They need to improve their service.

I have not eaten here yet, but I am watching the xmas special on WBTv featuring the owner and their cookies look and sound delicious. Crystallized ginger for themed sugar cookies is a great idea -- and I like the idea of the future of xmas being a celebration of diverse cultures under a unifying holiday spirit. Your imperial cookies look delicious and I hope someday to visit and try them.
Holy F — Google review
Came here to buy some gifts and stopped in to try their cookies. It's a warm, inviting spot with a variety of different seating on the second floor. The person serving me that day was not very friendly (this was not service with a smile), but was very professional and assisted me with everything I needed. My favorite was the decorated with icing cookie. I think it was a sugar cookie. I could see myself having that with tea all the time. 5 stars I should add, I'm not usually one for this kind of cookie, so it has to be done well for me to like it. Their imperial cookies are also done very well, I'm just not a fan of almond extract. If you like it, it would probably be a 5, but for me I just don't. It's too strong of a flavor. Chocolate Peppermint sandwich Loved that it was like an after eight in a cookie form. Still, I need to be in the mood for this cookie. If I am it's a great choice Ginger molasses cookie peanut butter oatmeal chew cookie I prefer mine softer and larger. These cookie type was a flatter more dense version. Flavors on it were good. I wouldn't choose these for myself, but if you like that kind of cookie then you'll enjoy them. Raisin chew I liked this texture but I'm not a fan of raisins in my cookies. This choice was my friends Parking was available in front of the building for free on the street.

We love the pastries at High Tea Bakery. We’ve tried many different things from here and never leave disappointed. The cherry amaretto cookies are one of my favourites. From time to time for special occasions they will make “Petit Fours”, and they are incredible! They are a must try if you are able to get them.

High Tea Bakery recently provided cookies and dainties to a corporate event we hosted and I could not be more impressed. They were fantastic in setting up the display in our facility and made cookies and tasty treats that clearly reflected who we are. I would not hesitate to use them again and have already passed along their name to others! My only negative...my own fault, I did not order enough to keep some for myself. ;-)

While planning a trip to Winnipeg for my daughter’s birthday, we came across this place online and knew it’d be a must-visit on her special day. We pre-ordered a birthday cake (the carrot one) and picked it up when we went to the bakery the morning of her bday. While there, we enjoyed their great atmosphere, delicious tea and tasty baked goods. The staff made my daughter feel welcome and special on her birthday. Later that evening, we enjoyed the cake… dense, the perfect amount of sweet, and absolutely delicious! So glad we found this place!

Got my wedding cake made here over 10 years ago!!!🙂. Stopped in today for a coffee and treat and absolutely loved the upstairs decor. Great seating! Warm environment - they make it look vintage and pay tribute to the area being over 100yrs old.!! Definitely recommend. Love the crown molding and old touches.😍 The queen would be impressed 👏

They absolutely made my son’s birthday!!! Not only did the cake and cupcakes LOOK AMAZING. But they were extremely tasty as well!!! We had tons of people enjoy, and compliment the cake! Highly recommend Goodies!!! I’ll be going with them for every celebration!!!

This is the second cake that we’ve bought from goodies. we chose the 8” black forest cake for my brother’s birthday. The cake was dry, and there was barely any whipped cream/icing. The sponge itself, as I mentioned, was dry, pale, and didn’t even taste like chocolate cake (box cake tastes better). In my honest opinion, it’s not worth the $50

I went to Goodies to have my custom wedding cake done and it turned out much better than i have expected! From my initial inquiry to the final cake, goodies staff have provided me top notch, friendly, and professional service! My expectation to reality was met. 10000% percent! Exceeded if i may add. Also their cakes are amazing. And not to mention their price is 🫶🏼. Underrated cake shop!!! Get them cakes here!!

I ordered an Strawbery Peach cake to celebrate with my family at Aug 23, 2025 and scheduled to pick up on Aug 27, 2025. When I tried to cut the cake in the same evening, I found out the outer layer of the cream was craked, making the cake look like it had been sitting out for a long time and wasn't even fresh at all. Then, as I cut into the cake, I noticed that the cream and the cake layers were seprating from each other, which made the texture feeling off. On top of that, the cake it self was too dry which made it even harder to enjoy. What make things worse is that I found a black hair-like object inside the cake after I cut it. I've been visited this place before and had a good experience, but this time was a huge let down. I had hoped for a nice cake to celebrate with my family, but this experience was very disappointing. I was expected much better quality from this shop.

I ordered a custom cake for a bridal shower and it was a showstopper. The bride-to-be said her shower cake was sure to be nicer than her wedding cake! In my opinion, Goodies is the best in the city. They never disappoint.

Goodies Bake Shop did our wedding cake yesterday August 9 2025, and everyone loved how it looked and how it tasted. For me it was by far THEE BEST cake I have ever had in all my years. It was like having a taste of heaven. Phenomenal. You guys are for sure always going to be apart of the best day in my life, thank you so much for your talents in baking 😊 ❤️ 💍 ✨

I recently bought two cakes for my kids' birthday party, and they were a huge hit! Both cakes were absolutely delicious and got rave reviews from everyone. The flavors were rich and perfectly balanced, with just the right amount of sweetness. The texture was light and fluffy, making each bite so enjoyable. Not only did the cakes taste amazing, but they were also beautifully decorated, adding a lovely touch to the celebration. Everyone at the party loved them, and I’ve already had several people ask where I got them from. Highly recommend these cakes for any special occasion!

Jeanne's Bakery, a venerable establishment in Winnipeg, has been delighting locals with its basic, specialty, and custom cakes since the early 1930s. Its popularity soared when it was requested to provide treats to King George and Queen Elizabeth during their Canadian Tour in 1939. With over 80 years of history, Jeanne's distinctive cakes have become a beloved tradition for birthdays and special occasions in the community.
I LOVE Jeanne's -- I grew up with it and have always looked forward to the cake and biscuit combinations. Today I was so excited to go and buy a cake and share it with friends just in from Calgary. I bought twelve individual pieces. 3 banana, 3 mocha and 6 marble traditional. None had the biscuit base, there was no flavour to the banana or mocha, there was no chocolate shavings on the banana or mocha. I think something went wrong. I will go with what I know next time.
Bob D — Google review
Positives for our recent experience with Jeanne's Bakery on Notre Dame so I'll state those 1st. Customer service via the phone call to order pickup this past weekend, excellent. Cake was ready on Sat. & in my opinion, priced good for this day & age. There's no dispute for any increase in prices over many decades. So, we took it home & stored in a cool basement until Sunday, the day consumed. Note: we have NEVER purchased such cakes from anywhere BUT their Notre Dame location although we've seen them in stores. Now then, this cake as pictured. Fresh, blander than usual. Colour of cake is concerning since for many decades we've come accustomed to the dark chocolate cake look, similar to what a cheap box cake mix Devil's Food Cake would look like. This is fact, the cake used to be that dark. We once had a disappointing Jeanne's though and it was back when the original family owned it, someone appeared to have used the mixing bowl that contained a lighter mix (maybe for marble) and then failed to mix the dark in so it didn't even come out as marble but washed out chocolate. This latest cake reminds me of that and the chocolate or cocoa content was/is lacking. Again, it was fresh & that's a star for the bakery. The icing: it is what I've always known it to be, somewhat of a laxative. Many others share such an opinion & even back when the few generations of the Van Landeghem family owned it, it was always the case with the icing. So now the ingredients have changed for the icing (fact & had to change). A side note: an elderly neighbour now in his 80's & a retired baker who served in the Yugoslavian army for his mandatory 2 yrs, has told me on multiple occasions about what he was provided for food when on duty. Most of the time it was bread with lard & a little salt, if you were lucky. True story and also, had the effect that Jeannes icing has on many people. A positive: nicely decorated, the cookie base is somewhat okay but used to be "fluffier" or appeared to be more "airy" instead of the now hard-packed "slab" which appeared to be somewhat "shiny." Possibly the fat used & made it more "plastic" looking? Okay, so, in the 60's I had my first Jeanne's & prior to that our parents had them years before that. Over many decades we have had them for different occasions & even went so far as to just drop in and buy one off their rack OR order something for no occasion. Just past year 2000 & after Alan passed away we slowed it down & didn't order so much from this place. Our son went to school with one of their kids so we were actually quite faithful followers of this bakery. When Mr. Penner took over, we noticed changes and no matter what he says about doing it all the same way, it just isn't true. Over the years since 2003 we've definitely noticed inconsistencies with these cakes & each time we swear it's probably going to be our last time. Today is that time because for such a pale looking "chocolate" cake it failed & I suspect that either someone screwed up with the cocoa amount or this is par for the course & now a paler version? Since I highly doubt that a colorant is used in a cocoa/chocolate based cake mix, I have to question what you'ce chosen for cocoa because it's definitely weaker/blander than prior decades of product. I'm aware of the issues that many business who use cocoa in their recipes are having & costs HAVE skyrocketed but then again, cost to the consumer has also increased & I agree that it should anyway. I'm an admitted chocoholic, I love chocolate anything & even if it's very or too sweet. This one at the lighter colour is "weaker" and not very chocolatey in taste. "Weak" is the best word here & over the years we mistakenly ordered a marble one and found that to be more white cake taste than (of course) chocolate since it was in fact, marble. The p.s. before some changes that they might attempt to dispute: previously the interior cake WAS not far off from the colour of the chocolate shavings. See my photos, does this look pale or nice and "chocolatey?" 3rd is from someone who posted what it used to look like

👏Stop 👏being 👏cheap 👏on👏 the👏 cake🙏. 1. It’s mostly icing now 2. the banana has no flavour. You will lose the life long customer base if it’s not the same and be gone forever. I only get direct from the bakery.
Jessica M — Google review
I come from a long line of Jeanne's cake lovers. 4 generations to be exact. Every birthday, every holiday, even when you just wanted cake, it was Jeannes. Over the past year or so, the flavor is just not there. The cake itself is uneven and leveled out with copious amounts of icing. I love icing, but the last couple times I ordered, the icing had an almost sour taste to it. I understand that things change and with rising costs, tarrifs and ingredient availability, it's difficult to run a business without some change, but these are not the cakes I remember. I keep buying them hoping for the cake I remember, but it hasn't happened yet. It would be a shame to lose a Winnipeg icon.

I purchased a Jeanne’s bakery cake from Sobey’s this week, so this review is only about the cake itself, not the bakery. It’s been 10 years (at least) since I last had a Jeanne’s cake and I was so excited to have it again, being in Winnipeg after a long time, and I was quite disappointed! The cake doesn’t taste buttery like it used to, or have any flavor. Well, I read the laundry list of ingredients on the sticker, and what do you know, it’s just a list of the typical junky/cheap ingredients you’d find in any processed food. GROSS. No thank you. No wonder my tummy hurt after too.

I have had a Jeannes cake for every one of my 45 birthdays. My husband bought my cake for this year, straight from the bakery. It was absolutely terrible, inedible. Was supposed to be banana, my absolute favorite, it had no banana flavor and almost tasted like chemicals and left a terrible aftertaste. This will unfortunately be the last cake I ever buy from here. Also, there was a wierd cut in the cake when I opened the box.
K J — Google review
I love this place, it's basically like another family member for us, everyone in my family (immediate and extended) have been coming here for generations ( I mean GENERATIONS I'm pretty sure my Nana was a customer of theirs from opening or sometime after, I would go so far as to say she probably knew or was friends with Jeanne and her husband Archie, I wanna say, I can't remember). I love the cakes and everything here. I gave 2 stars cause the service seems to have gone down hill majorly. Last year for my bday I stood in the store for 30 mins waiting for someone to come from the back, myself and another customer were like 👀 this is wild anyone could just rob them, or take a few cakes and walk out. It was so not the normal. Fast forward to now, I called to try and order a cake for my son's 1st bday, hoping to get him his own baby size smash cake but the guy (he is ALWAYS sooooo rude and condescending, I had to deal with him for my daughters cake years ago and I was just astonished! He was so rude to me, I gave in and said w.e just to keep the family tradition which no one should have to do, we are the customers, without us and our families this store would not be here this long, let's be real.) said no they don't do that. It's silly! How hard is it to grab a smaller bake pan and offer what your customers need for all ages!? I'm just super amazed that they aren't growing with the times. Maybe it's time to start a new family cake tradition. Or maybe it's time for them to take customizations from returning customers. I'm 38 and I've had their cake every year for my bday (except for the years we were in BC). I'm super disappointed 😞.

Nestled in the heart of Winnipeg, Gunn's Bakery has been a beloved institution since 1937, offering an array of European-style breads, bagels, cookies, and both sweet and savory pastries. This kosher dairy bakery stands out for its commitment to inclusivity, providing a variety of options for those with dietary restrictions. From gluten-free treats to vegan soups and pareve products like turnovers and apple jacks, there's something delightful for everyone.
As a long time customer and a dedicated employee, I praise the dedicated and dependable staff for consistent and quality products. The daily selection of both savory and sweet treats is a special joy for those who come early! Pro tip: try the Elman's Baba Barrel cured pickles! They are naturally cured with out any vinegar but have the nicest bite to them! They are in the pickle and drink cooler. Just ask the staff! Gunn's Bakery won't disappoint You and Your family!

Ordered a cake slab for 50+ for my daughters bday. Asked for Bavarian filling and got vanilla.(unless the filling has declined that bad) Disappointed as it was the main dessert and it was too late to do anything in the moment. Please triple check next time before an order goes out. Was Really looking forward to it as it was always a hit and better than the grocery store chains.

Unsafe and unclean. Management are unprofessional and allow conditions to become repugnant. I had to walk out and call Manitoba health and agriculture to make them take safety of their customers seriously. I witnessed a baker bleed into hamburger buns (amongst other things) and those buns were sent out to the restaurant. Mold on all equipment. Rats inside the dishwasher.

I'd highly recommend Gunn's Bakery! Locally owned and operated, they consistently deliver top-quality baking with a strong focus on fresh ingredients and friendly service. Whether you're grabbing a quick treat or stocking up for a special occasion, you’ll taste the care in every bite. Check them out today!

Usually great. A phone today call left me waiting for the remainder of my order to be taken. This is not uncommon in current ustomer service situations. A customer on the premises should be given priority over one on the phone. My pret peeve.

UPDATED REVIEW: Our family loves the baked goods at Gunn's bakery. We moved an hour away in 2018, so our visits have decreased. In fact, we haven't gotten anything there since before the pandemic. We were so looking forward to some Gunn's, so I ordered a dozen cream cheese danishes. Opened the box and they looked lovely. However, when I saw the undersides, they were all burned. We have shopped there hundreds of times and this is a first. Really unimpressed at the quality. I do have to say thanks to the person who let us in to pick up the order 5 minutes after closing. My son had his braces put on and the appointment took longer than we expected, so we were a few minutes after closing. Thank you for that! ORIGINAL REVIEW: I love their cream cheese danishes! I moved away several years ago, but I always look forward to going back in to Winnipeg to get some. Wish I could find them somewhere near Steinbach...

Hildegard's Bakery, situated on Portage Avenue, stands out as a unique gem in the realm of bakeries. Their commitment to traditional techniques and the use of local organic flours, ground onsite, results in unmatched flavor and texture in their breads and pizzas. The bakery's wood-fired brick oven produces delicious pizzas with a stellar reputation among locals.
Crazy good and underrated pizza. Some flavors aren’t my thing like the balsamic on tomato sauce or the beets, but the sourdough crust and flavors otherwise combine sooo well together. Also a fan of their loafs of sour dough bread. Great place I recommend 🙏

Love this place! The cinnamon buns are the best I've ever had! For food, they also have soups and sandwiches. On Fridays and Saturdays, they prepare wood fired pizzas. There are also several prepared foods to heat and serve at home. The service is friendly! There is a power strike button for accessing the front entrance and an accessible washroom. The window ledges have plants lining them and there are several hanging plants. There are fairy lights that are likely on when it gets dark. The atmosphere is bright with daylight.

Love the Menno Pizza! The flavors are savory and delicious. Can't wait to try the others. Note that their pizza is only available on certain days. I recommend the house made ice tea. Love the interior design of the place as well.

Picked up myself a Prairie sourdough bread. Seems that this is a proper loaf of bread. Great texture maybe cooked a minute too long. A coconut Brownie for Dessert. Fantastic

I went to the bakery around 12:25 and ordered a coffee and two honey lavender treats. After paying, I decided to switch one for a date square. The girl at the cashier was incredibly helpful and professional she made the change with a smile even though there was other costumers and the bakery is busy, and it truly made my day. Best bakery in town!

The quality of the ingredients (organic, glyphosate free) is so refreshing & delicious ! The sourdough is on another level, still need to try the pizza, and can’t wait to be back to try out everything else on the menu

When you want healthier bread, fresher bread and uniquely tasting well balanced leavened baked goods, each and everyday - Hildegards is where you step into They use a lot of various older techniques and grains that require more hardwork, persistence and perseverance in a consistent manner to make what they make and they do the heaven of a job at it and their breads are just heavenly. My absolute favorite is always the foccacia, then followed by the spelt followed by the scones and the rest. Their soup and toast are something that one should have once and they make some real good pizzas when they do. Lovely bunch of hardworking people making the best of what they make. June 2023 edit: Finally here at the right time and place to get hands on their Pizza and oh my god are they delicious + if you choose their sourdough crust it just elevates the whole pizza experience. Having it made in wood fire dome oven gives the pizza that nice bubbly crunchy crust + not to discount their well made dough. Their pizza toppings and ingredients are clean and nice and the pizza tastes really well. We tried the Manitoberrean and Spanakopizza; their menon and pepperoni funghu and cheese funghi and deluxiest and red pepper popeye they all also sounds great, but those will for some other time. thank you to you all.

A l'Epi de Blé is a delightful French bakery that beckons food lovers with its exquisite array of baked goods. This charming spot in North Winnipeg offers everything from artisanal breads and flaky croissants to decadent pastries like cinnamon brioche rolls and rich chocolate mousse cakes. The menu also features savory treats, including ham and cheese croissants and classic gratin dauphinois, ensuring there's something for everyone.
This is a wonderful local bakery which sells a variety of exquisitely prepared pastries, including croissants, cakes, cookies, and other delicious items. Absolutely wonderful place to stop by. There is a limited number of seats available inside as well. Great location in West Kildonan on Main Street. I highly recommend.

Not the best desserts I’ve ever tried. Each piece costs almost $7, but is really small. And, unfortunately, all of them tasted like there are too much butter inside.

I live across the city but I would always make the effort to stop at this bakery when nearby. I love so many of the fantastic bakeries we have all across the city. Yesterday I ordered 3 pastries, a chocolate brownie, creme brûlée and a loaf of bread. The pastries were all disappointing. Croissants were not flakey but chewy. The brownie was definitely stale. I threw it away. It’s sad that this is not the place it once was. I did not know it was under new ownership until I read other reviews. But I would say the sourdough bread was absolutely fresh and still warm! It was not up to my normal expectation for sourdough… but was very good bread. We have such amazing places here in Winnipeg that any business will face some stiff competition from other bakery’s. The expectation coming into a small place like this is that it will be fresh, and an authentic experience. I doubt I will be back.
Nancy G — Google review
Picked up a dozen macaroons yesterday, unfortunately some were quite stale. The ones that were fresh were good but very disappointed - haven't been to the bakery for a few years. The store is lovely with lots of tempting items. Will pass on macaroons though going forward if I return

Always have the best baked goods here! I am especially a big fan of the éclairs au chocolat and the petit pain au chocolat aux amandes. The atmosphere is really cozy and the staff are quite kind. If you want to imagine you are in a bakery in France, this is the place to go!
Mac B — Google review
I looked forward to my 3rd croissant this week (Carb loading). I was unable to finish about 40% of the croissant as the ends were inedible This Bakery had plenty to offer- infact, a heaping Pile amount of croissants. Which I initially was pleased with... ...It's rare to see that quantity at the hour, compared to other French bakeries in the city. I Personally judge a French Bakery by the quality of their Croissants. I hope to see future reviews that reflect a better experience than my own. Side note: Perhaps they offer a medium-rare option that I was unaware of.

Good pastries, though you may have to go earlier in the day to have a full selection of pastries at A l’Epi de Ble. The restaurant had a great ambiance to it. Quiet, quick, and has convenient parking spots. You can run in and grab something quick, or sit down and enjoy the food. Most items were not labelled or priced. I had to point to what I wanted to the cashier. Additionally, drinks were not for sale, or not shown in a counter.

The Crusty Bun is a charming European-style cafe with multiple locations in Winnipeg and Steinbach. It's renowned for its delectable array of European treats, such as pretzels, sauerkraut bread, and cherry streusel. Owned by a German couple, the bakery offers artisan breads like German tea cake and hazelnut twirls. Visitors can enjoy daily made-from-scratch soup specials and flavorful seed bun sandwiches at lunchtime.
Quality ingredients and great taste; the hardest part is not buying too much. There aren't enough places like this around anymore. For Europeans, it feels like home and non-Europeans can find something to enjoy as well. I visit Winnipeg somewhat often and I will make sure to stop here each time

Tasty was great, not soggy, and not too crusty. It's not too pricey. Price to quantity and quantity. The ambiance is nice. It's definitely worth a try. Too sweet first bite will make you feel heaven. The next one can take you there, haha, overall 9.5/10. 0.5 deducted if they had a cinnamon powder option.

For the german breakfast: dry outside of ham and cheese. The "german" bakery and no german bread quality. Too soft I will not recommend it

First time here. Tried the turkey sandwich on the roasted pumpkin seed bun. It was fresh, tasted good, and had a nice crunch. I highly recommend giving it a try. I also tried some sweets (black & white cookie, jam buster donut, train track etc.) and pretzels which were also very good with homemade ingredients. This location is neat as you can see the bakers as they work through a window. I would go to this bakery again.

Oh Doughnuts, located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, is a popular spot near the RBC Convention Centre. They offer a wide variety of gourmet doughnuts made fresh daily in numerous flavors such as pistachio crullers, French toast, everything bagel, and banana chocolate chip fritters. In addition to their sweet treats, they also provide gluten-free and vegan options along with savory stuffed breakfast doughnuts.
I had saved Oh Doughnuts on my list to try during my business trip this week and it did not disappoint! This place is truly a gem l. The menu changes daily, which keeps things exciting, and you can always count on fresh, high-quality donuts. I had the peanut butter donut filled with chocolate, and it was absolutely delicious—perfectly executed and made in-house with care. The staff was incredibly friendly and patient when I had questions about the menu, which made the experience even better. If you're in the Winnipeg area, do yourself a favor and stop by Oh Doughnuts. You won’t regret it!

Absolutely love this place! The donuts are always fresh, fluffy, and perfectly sweet without being overwhelming. They’ve got a great variety from classic to super creative special/seasonal flavors. You'll never get tired bcause they don't consistently sell same flavors which is a hit. Don't forget their breakfast menu as well which is something great with a twist (find out why). The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the shop itself has a cozy, inviting vibe. Definitely my go-to spot when I need a sweet treat or a pick-me-up especially when they're on BOGO 😍

Wow. I don’t know why this place was on my to-go list for the morning before I fly back home, but it really should’ve been the first and I would’ve come back every morning. Easy to find, good atmosphere/vibe. Service was excellent and there were so many tempting breakfast choices but was recommended the fried egg (doughnut) sandwich and yeah, it was delicious. I have a very picky “Favourites” list in my saved places, but Oh Doughnuts has certainly earn its spot. I’ll definitely be back to try the rest of your breakfast and lunch options next time I’m back in Winnipeg!

This has always been one of my favourite spots in the city. Since they renovated everything is next level. The interior is warm and cozy. I love the addition of warm savoury items to the menu. I’ve had both of the egg doughnuts now and I can’t pick a favourite. They’re both incredible. The regular and specialty doughnuts are always fresh and tasty. Perfect to share with friends and family or just devour yourself. Staff are always friendly and helpful in their recommendations. I love supporting local businesses. I love supporting 2SLGBTQ+ businesses. I love supporting Oh Doughnuts.

My wife and I came up to visit Winnipeg from the US state of Iowa about a month ago to support our kind Canadian neighbours. We had a little bit of extra time between museum visits, so we decided to satisfy our craving for a sweet treat, and this place proved to be a fantastic choice. The doughnuts were delicious, the service was quick, and the atmosphere was relaxed. I had a strawberry cream filled doughnut, and my wife had a chocolate chip cookie dough doughnut. I would strongly advise you to stop by this lovely little place!

This is a very cute shop. They have donut things all over the walls. It's a great spot to meet some friends with for coffee and something sweet. The donuts themselves are quite expensive, but all the donuts I've tried are VERY good. Even the vegan donuts are good. Latte was very well done as well.

Stopped by to grab a snack before heading to the the airport... I ate their strawberry shortcake donut the day previous and was determined to go back before I left the city. I was greeted by warm and prompt service in the morning. I ordered their Turkish donut off the breakfast menu with a small drip coffee, and wow, was it a treat. They offer a creative spread of sweet donuts as well (there were about a dozen or more flavours on display). Looking forward to my next visit.

Lilac Bakery, located in Winnipeg, has gained a reputation as one of the city's top bakeries for delectable desserts. Founded by Linda and Chris, this mother-son duo focuses on delivering consistent, beautifully crafted treats using scratch-made recipes from the past. The bakery offers an extensive selection of mouth-watering slices, cupcakes, desserts, cookies, tarts, and pies. Customers rave about their legendary cakes and cupcakes that are perfect for any celebration.
My husband and I ordered cupcakes for our wedding and Lilac did an absolutely perfect job. They were so delicious and our guests were so surprised that vegan cupcakes could be so good. The communication was quick and clear, the presentation was lovely, and the food was excellent.

We ordered from Lilac Bakery for our micro-wedding a couple weeks ago and couldn't be happier. We ordered cupcakes, and even the gluten-free AND vegan option tasted great! Kassey was great helping us with our simple plans, but didn't make us feel like we were wasting their talents. We were warned that the vegan buttercream melts on hot days... and of course we had an outdoor wedding when it was over 30C, so there were some casualties, but everything still tasted amazing.

Lilac Bakery did my wedding cake and it turned out incredible! I am so happy we went with them. They are so easy and kind to work with. You can tell they really care about doing a good job for their customers. I am so happy we supported their business. Thank you to the whole team for making our day so special in the sweetest way. 🤍

While searching for a place to order a wedding cake, I was recommended Lilac bakery. To test some of the cakes, It was suggested I order some cupcakes. Pictured left to right (top to bottom), I tried the confetti, salted caramel, vanilla, coconut, german chocolate, and strawberry cupcakes. Not pictured, I tried the gluten-free chocolate cupcake. I found the cupcakes to have nice flavors, with a not overly sweet buttercream icing, which I really like. My favorite was probably the strawberry, but the rest were really good as well. However, I found many of the cupcakes (except the chocolate batter ones, which were moist and fluffy) were quite dense, which may be from overbeating the batter (an easy fix with some quality control). The shop itself is very cute and clean, with nice staff.

We had the pleasure of working with Lilac Bakery for our wedding cake last weekend. Kassey executed the vision we had so beautifully. It was very easy to communicate with them as well. We had so many complements on how delicious the cake itself tasted. We chose red velvet on one tier and salted caramel chocolate cake on the other. They both tasted phenomenal. Thank you so much for our lovely wedding cake.

I’m from Saskatoon and recently called this bakery in Winnipeg with a simple but special request—and they absolutely went above and beyond. My pregnant sister-in-law had been craving a very specific type of sugar cookie, and this amazing team not only took my request seriously but delivered cookies that were truly phenomenal! Everyone I spoke to on the phone was kind, understanding, and incredibly helpful. You could really feel the care and dedication from the entire team, from the people I talked to over the phone to the bakers who made this special order come to life. I’m so grateful for the kindness, attention to detail, and incredible service. Thank you for making this craving a sweet reality—your cookies and your customer care are both top-tier!

Baked Expectations is a beloved bakeshop located in Osborne Village, Winnipeg. For over 30 years, this dessert-specialty cafe has been known for its lavish cakes and classic recipes created by owner Beth Grubert. The shop offers a variety of treats including cookies, cupcakes, custom-designed cakes, tortes, cheesecakes with various toppings, pies, and seasonal specialties like Tia Maria cake and chocolate-dipped strawberries.
WOW!!!! Just WOW!!! if you are looking for a cake that will drop your jaw then you are in the right place. They are so well done and so beautiful to look at.So many artistic flavor combinations. Beth, the owner, prefers the almond torte. The staff favorite is the carrot cake. The funfetti is so pretty and half sold. The pavlova is a bold move—so gorgeous and rare to even even find this at a restaurant. I’ve tried to make these. ANY trace of yolk and the whites will not stiffen. Even slicing this is a special skill. The strawberry chocolate is blowing my mind. So lovely. Layers of cake and mousse. Can’t wait to dig in.

When you have few places that make cakes solely, you dont get much options, you have to visit, either your family asked you to or your peers. They know they have the right location for a restaurant so why bother on nice behaviour towards customer. Why train your servers to be gentle or "nice" to the customers. They will make money any way. I would not recommend this place for a sit in. Neither will I recommend the sugar filled overhyped cakes. Dig deeper in google, you will surely find other better options in Winnipeg. Enjoy your dessert, its just not the place to enjoy.
Asif ( — Google review
First time there and the place was a nice surprise. The cakes were good but not exceptional. Our party ordered 6 different cakes and our experience was 50-50. Three of the cakes were either dry or waaay too much icing. The service was a bit chaotic, we were told to sit and order at the table but took 15 minutes to get our order. The cakes did not come all at once and had to wait a good 5 minutes for the rest of the cakes to arrive. Drinks were good.

In from out of town and had to grab some cheesecake. It was quiet while we visited but there was a grab selection of cakes. We got a piece of cherry and salted caramel cheesecake. They were both good portions and tasted delicious. As with everything prices have gone up but felt that it was a reasonable price at $13 for a slice. We haven't been at the restaurant for a couple of years but there tends to be a large empty space at the front of the restaurant. It looks awkward and not very inviting.

Got the pavlova sliced cake and it was worse dessert ever. Taste -2/10 , got it for my daughter through uber, wasted my $25 for 1 slice. Wont order ever. Sorry not recommend. 🙁

This was my first time in a number of years and I was really disappointed. My daughter got a piece of Key Lime Pie and while it tasted what it was supposed to taste like I'm not quite sure why they were charging $11. If I had know it was going to be that much I would have left. $11 for a piece of pie?? That's crazy. I used to love going for Mocha Torte or cheesecake but as these prices I think that was my last time. Really disappointed.

Tall Grass Prairie Bread Company is a renowned bakeshop in Winnipeg, with two locations - one in Wolseley and the other at The Forks. Since 1990, they have been using local organic heritage wheats to create a variety of breads, including their famous cinnamon buns. At The Forks location, visitors can witness the milling process of grains like red fife and spelt before they are transformed into sourdough.
Tall Grass Prairie bread Company is an awesome bakery, located in the Wolseley neighborhood of Winnipeg. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. They bake fresh bread, muffins, cinnamon rolls, cookies, and other baked goods to perfection. They also sell fresh juice, organic milk, and other drinks in addition to jams and free range eggs. I love coming to this place. It has such a nice vibe and it’s always a pleasure to stop by here for a snack. There’s no seating inside, however, there’s an outdoor patio, which is really nice in the summer. It’s a short walk from the Assiniboine river as well. Definitely a pleasure visiting this local gem. I wholeheartedly recommend all to visit this bakery.

Great food. Cookies not too sweet. Just right. Pie by the slice or whole. Good selection of breads including sourdough. It has a little market of local ingredients. Located in a hipster and area of character. Mainly street parking, which generally isn't too difficult in the residential mix area. Service is the only hindrance. I'd still return.

We have to wait for about 25 minutes as other customers were really taking their time chatting and eating their food. We were encouraged to order before we got a table so we had to wait while they're working with our food. The cafe only got 6 tables and some customers even if they're done eating they're taking the time hanging out there. I recommend to call ahead of time to check if there's table available if you don't want to wait. The eggs Benedict was not bad we like that they used scones. I was turned off by too much mustard from the Croque Madam. The egg salad sandwich was okay, I'm not a fan the tomato. The cakes were disappointing but I like the chocolate mousse ball, out of all the dessert we got that's the only one we liked and recommend. I don't recommend the red velvet cake. I find the bread bland but it was okay. It was a hit and miss experience for us.

They offer many things, including poutine, fries, burgers, but they specialize in sweets and pastries, including cookies – oatmeal, chocolate chip as well as lemon cake, apple strudel, croissants, and many other pastries. Very high-quality bakery overall. There is seating inside for about 20 as well as an outdoor patio. There is free parking outside and the staff is very friendly. Overall, I highly recommend.

I was so stoked to go here on our recent trip into the city because the food and desserts looked beautiful in the reviews I'd looked at. But none of it was actually tasty. Like I got a mini pie and it was 90% crust and not even good crust. I got a little tiramisu inspired orb and it had an inch thick lump of chocolate in there distracting from the flavors and textures of the marscapone etc. My spouse got a carrot cake he said was strangely bland, worse than grocery store carrot cake. Disappointing. The employees were all very nice and efficient. And a really good thing was that they don't fill the bathroom with chemical fumes like fragrance or deodorizer to hide stink they just ventilate with a nice strong fan (though I think I saw a can of spray so if the person before you uses that, might not be safe after all). If you get migraines, asthma attacks etc from the fumes in most restaurant bathrooms this might be an important enough factor to lure you to Cottage! Clean air is very valuable! And the food's not gross it's just not awesome. I might go back, with lower expectations. OK food and at OK price with no unhealthy fumes, not a bad choice.

Just discovered The Cottage Bakery. As a sweet treat / dessert / all bakery items lover, this bakery is a 10/10. The staff were knowledgeable and really friendly. The atmosphere is variable it could be that nice quiet place to go relax have a coffee & bakery item / read a book / catch up on some work, it could be that really busy place that is 100% worth waiting in line to get what you came for. Some food items we tried on first visit ; *Lemon Meringue - 10/10 amazing taste & texture * Neapolitan - 10/10 WOW * Apple Long Jack - 10/10 - So Tasty * 2 different sugar cookies great for kids * Pecan Tart - Excellent taste / texture They have different breads for sale & coffee available too. If you haven’t given this place a try go and check it out… Thank you Cottage Bakery

Cottage Bakery is hands down one of the best local bakeries in Winnipeg! The moment you walk in, you’re greeted by the smell of freshly baked bread and pastries — it feels like home. Their selection is amazing, from soft, buttery croissants to perfectly baked buns and mouthwatering desserts. The staff are always friendly, welcoming, and take real pride in what they do. You can tell everything is made with care and high-quality ingredients. Their sandwiches and donuts are my personal favorites — always fresh and full of flavor. Whether you’re grabbing a coffee and treat on the go or picking up something special for family or friends, Cottage Bakery never disappoints. It’s a true neighborhood treasure and one of those places that makes you proud to shop local!

I’d recommend this place to anyone! The baking is absolutely incredible, and I genuinely love the food. The staff treat everyone like family, creating such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Ali (the owner) is truly one of a kind, and you can tell how much he cares about both his customers and his team. It’s always busy for good reason, but it’s absolutely worth the wait every time.

There are many great bakeries in Winnipeg, but if you want a cake that is not too sweet or covered in super thick fondant, Caked with Love is the place to go. Perfect cakes every time we order. Worth the drive!

I’ve been here multiple times and I can say that I never come out with just what I originally intend to get. Their cupcakes are the best ones that I’ve had, especially the cookie dough one, they’re not dry at all and just the perfect sweetness! The cake drops and cookie dough bites are also incredible! It’s so hard to resist not getting all of this whenever I visit because they’re so delicious!

Ah-Mazing cupcakes. We ordered two dozen (Dark Chocolate Raspberry, Cookie Dough, and Baker's Choice) for a family celebration, and the cupcakes were a massive hit. So moist and delicious, and you can taste what each cupcake is supposed to be!

This bakery is absolutely delightful. The staff are fantastic—friendly, knowledgeable, and always eager to help with any questions about wedding cakes. A few weeks before our wedding, we tried their tasting box, and each flavor won us over. Naturally, we decided to order our wedding cake from them. It turned out beautifully, just as we'd envisioned, and tasted incredible. We couldn’t have been happier.

Nestled in the charming Corydon Village of Winnipeg, The Pennyloaf Bakery is a delightful small-batch artisan bakery that captures the essence of homemade goodness. This quaint spot specializes in takeaway options, offering an array of delectable baked goods including cookies, scones, and beautifully crafted sourdough bread. Each item is made with care and attention to detail, ensuring that every bite is as delicious as it looks.
Stopped in on Saturday Feb 15, just before closing and picked up a couple loaves of bread. It is delicious. Will definitely go back to pick up other items. Best thing is, my daughter who is celiac, can eat the bread, because of the ‘wild yeast’ process they use.

I love the freshness of this place! I'm a croissant fan and this place makes amazingly crusty and flakey croissants! They also serve breakfast croissants! The only downsides to this place is that it's open only 5 days of the week. But in some ways it's good because it keeps people craving it!
Marcello N — Google review
What a great selection of baked goods! Bright and clean shop, friendly and helpful staff and great tasting goods. My personal favourite is blubbery scones with rosemary. Would never think of it is a good combo and probably wouldn’t try if the girls there didn’t recommend it. Thank you! It’s so yummy!

Building is now listed for sale, so safe to say it's permanently closed. If the original owner reads this: thank you for years of wonderful bread. It's too bad the more recent owners let it go (and didn't communicate in a forthright way to customers about its status and closing). One star really means N/A.
Oly B — Google review
I have been a long time customer of Pennyloaf Bakery. I have found since the change in ownership the quality control and consistency has gone downhill. It is still worth a visit and I still shop there. However, it is no longer my automatic go to for a good loaf of sourdough or pastries. I am not interested in the new product lines and cafe. I also find since the change in ownership, all orders I have called in for pick up have been wrong on arrival.
Laura F — Google review
Pennyloaf is one of my favourite bakeries in the city. They are one of the few places that I have seen with traditional sourdough.
Steph S — Google review
Pennyloaf Bakery has the best sourdough bread I have ever had. It is worth the trip no matter where you live in the city. The cookies are amazing as well, I recommend the chocolate chip. Owner is friendly and outgoing. All around great experience.
Edward C — Google review
The Pennyloaf offers such an amazing selection of delicious breads and pastries. The crust on their bread is delightfully chewy and the loaf itself is consistent between batches with its light and airy middle. They always have such an amazing choice of both savory and sweet options. My two current choices are the vegetarian pocket and the chai scone. Overall my favorite bakery in the city. Update: The bakery seems to have undergone a change. Both in feel and in quality. The bread is still good but the ambience and the service has gone downhill. The pastries also seem to be more dry and not up to the quality as before. They've launched more products such as: croutons, meats, sandwiches, coffee, etc. This change in products also feels like they're trying to be a little bit of everything rather than excelling at one thing.

Located in the Kenaston Village Mall, Harvest Bakery & Deli is a local gem offering a wide array of freshly baked goods such as bread, bagels, buns, cookies, and cakes. The delightful aroma of their baked products fills the air as soon as you step inside. Customers rave about their pizza shells, bagels, and homemade garlic butter.
Harvest Bakery & Deli is a fabulous locally owned business located in the Kenaston Village Mall. From the moment you walk in, you can smell the fresh baked bread, rolls, bagels, buns, and more! At the back of the store is the deli where you can order all types of sandwiches, bunwiches paninis that can be filled numerous deli meats and cheeses. My three favourite items I get when I visit Harvest Bakery & Deli are pizza shells, bagels, and their homemade garlic butter which I put on my steaks when grilling. Definitely worth the 5 stars given! Oh, and they do have both daily and weekly specials, as well as featured products.

We ordered a social package from Harvest for our recent wedding social. Everything was excellent — the Winnipeg-style rye is perfectly SOFT — and the price per person was very reasonable. We ordered for 200 and had some leftovers. The portion per person is clearly generous. The ordering process was easy, the pickup was smooth, and they packaged all the bread, meats, and cubed cheeses well so they were easy to put on platters. The reusable bags provided to carry everything was a nice added touch. We'll definitely get further use out of those. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Harvest to anyone looking for tasty and classic Manitoba social food.

This is by far the best Bakery in Winnipeg. Really great bagels, Monday is the best day to get them as they are on sale. Lol. Always the best selection of fresh breads and the best cinnamon buns. I have been an customer for over 40 years and never get tired of the aroma inside. I have friends that live in BC and they always go there and stock up and take a suitcase full back with them.
Attilla H — Google review
My son ordered a social package from Harvest for their recent wedding social. Excellent social food package — the Winnipeg-style rye was fantastic. They ordered for 250 for a crowd of 300ish and had some leftovers. We should have ordered more cheese but everything else was more then enough. They had lots of bread leftover and a pack of salami. Bonus for the leftover bread cause we loved it and now have some in the freezer to enjoy later. Nice bonus, they pack everything into reusable bags to carry everything, Highly recommend Harvest Bakery to anyone looking for tasty, classic Manitoba social food.
Phyllis C — Google review
We ordered two trays of sandwiches, cheese and dainties. The dainties and cheese were good, but the sandwiches were gross, too much mayo (some sandwiches were dripping with mayo) and the lettuce was wilted and brown. We had so much left over because no one would eat them, what a waste of money.
DS H — Google review
Friendly staff, and great selection of fresh buns. We shared half of each sandwich. We really enjoyed the Italian sub, but found the roast beef quite fatty and sort of bland. Potato salad was great.

I was hosting a backyard event for a special occasion. Harvest Bakery was able to make me a custom image cake that blew my expectations. Not only did it look great, it tasted wonderful. I was also looking for sausage buns. Right when I walked into the bakery, the buns (a large verity) were sitting right there waiting for me. They were a hit with the bbq’ed sausages. Got so many compliments on the bread. Will be shopping and doing all my custom image cakes with them in the future.

Stella's Bakery has become a beloved spot in Winnipeg, with eight locations across the city. The newest location on Corydon Avenue offers an extensive selection of freshly baked breads, hearty pastries, and wholesome muffins. I liked the strong black coffee, and the chocolate croissant was also delicious. Friendly staff and fast service. Despite the fact that the cafe is inconspicuous from the outside, there is a nice atmosphere inside, lots of space, clean, high-quality, well-kept furniture, and pleasant music in the background. The only thing I miss there is the smell of croissants baking. Overall, I'm glad to have this cafe near my house. I will definitely visit here again!

Dropped in on a Sunday evening and were the only ones in the store. We stood and waited to be greeted and served for awhile. Once we were served and paid it took about 10 minutes of waiting for our 3 bakery items to be packaged, meanwhile we are the only ones in the store… It would’ve been okay if the food was good, but the chocolate cake was very dry, sadly wasn’t great. Wouldn’t recommend coming here for good service or bakery items. However, the atmosphere was nice.

When I visit family in Winnipeg, a coffee and “dainty”meet up is a must. When this gem opened up in the neighbourhood, we had to pop in. Glad we did…it was coooool like the sea breeze! Our Barista Hailey had the best vibes. She was welcoming, suggested some fan faves and the hot drinks gave us the warm fuzzies. She also has some hot tips on music to boot! What a nice treat. Add some live music or coffee bingo nights, and I’ll be extending my visits!

Called over the phone September 3rd for a simple order. Just a a pie for September 21 for a friend’s birthday who loves Stella’s key lime pie. When I called morning of September 21 they had no orders for pie and no pie to sell. It was like pulling teeth to get the woman to at least use my phone number to search me up so I could inquire about the error. Maybe a different day or something. She just kept saying we have nothing for today and I had to get a bit firm with her to look up my number. She said there’s no order using my name or number to place this order in their records for any day at all ….. not only was this situation upsetting because my order was not placed, it was rather irritating dealing with someone who seemed unwilling to help me figure out what the issue was.

We were welcomed by the very friendly staff at the Academy rd location. Picked up a beautiful wedding cake for my friend Julia’s wedding. The sugar flower decorations were gorgeous and delicate. The cake was salted caramel. It was flavourful, delicious and moist.

✨ 5 Stars! I ordered a custom cake from Jenna Rae Cakes for my daughter’s 30th birthday. I couldn’t be happier with the result. I sent them a photo in what I wanted & they matched it almost exactly to what I was expecting it to look like. The cake itself was moist, the icing was creamy and not too sweet. Their attention to detail and quality was amazing on the flowers they placed on top. Thank you, Jenna Rae Cakes, for making such a special celebration even sweeter! 🎂💕
Brenda H — Google review
Alright, listen Jenna Rae Cakes… I wanted to like this place. I really did. You walk in, and it’s like stepping into a damn Pinterest board. Everything’s pastel, sparkly, looks like it was designed by a unicorn with a marketing degree. You’re thinking, “Wow, this is it! This is where dessert dreams come true!” And then you take a bite and boom! Every. Single. Thing. Tastes. The. SAME. I don’t care what you order cupcake, cookie, macaron it’s like they’ve got one giant vat of frosting in the back, and they just keep reshaping it into different forms. You drop fifty bucks, and you basically just bought the same sugar blob in six disguises. And don’t even get me started on the price. Seven bucks for a cupcake? What are you putting in there rent money? You could buy a steak dinner back in the day for that! And of course, they had to put a location at The Forks. Yeah, perfect spot! Let’s drop a luxury cupcake boutique right in the middle of Winnipeg’s sketchiest tourist trap. You’re trying to enjoy your overpriced macaron, and some guy’s out front yelling at a pigeon while another one’s trying to sell you “vintage” sunglasses he found in the river. You’re standing there, cupcake in hand, thinking, “What am I doing with my life? I just paid rent money to eat sugar in a place that smells like weed and goose crap.” I’m telling you, Jenna Rae Cakes is Winnipeg in a nutshell beautiful on the outside, total chaos underneath. Looks like Paris, tastes like déjà vu. Save yourself the trouble skip the $8 glitter biscuit and grab a donut from Robins for a buck. At least there, no one’s trying to charge you luxury prices for a sugar coma.
M B — Google review
We were so disappointed with our cake from Jenna Rae Cakes. While it was beautifully decorated and looked stunning, the taste just didn’t live up to the hype. The icing was overwhelmingly sweet, and the cake itself was extremely dry. For the premium price, we expected much better. We’ve heard people rave about Jenna Rae for years and finally decided to order one for a special occasion—but sadly, it didn’t deliver. We ended up throwing most of it away. Honestly, a supermarket cake would’ve tasted better and cost a fraction of the price.
Andrew M — Google review
Kaitlyn was an absolute pleasure to work with & the cake Jenna made was stunning - exactly what we wanted. First time 'designing' a cake & Jenna did a great job of bringing it to life. Delivery & set up were seamless. It is a bit pricey - for custom work, it's reasonable, and does lean on the sweeter side, but deliciously so.

I've written reviews previously about Jenna Rae Cakes back in the summer for our 8 year Olds custom deadpool cake (photo below) and for our youngest son's first birthday cake in 2018 which was a custom land before time cake (also below not shown is his birthday cupcake). We just celebrated our youngest son's 4th birthday yesterday and had a custom mickey mouse cake made for him. These cakes are beautiful and delicious! They are incredibly priced for custom work and all the details that go into them. I admit we have tried other bakeries in between as we live so far away (2.5 hours to the closest jenna rae location) and honestly we have been disappointed and have had alot of wasted cake. We have now agreed to make the 5 hour round trip drive for our cakes to be made at Jenna Rae because they're so worth it! The cakes are a perfect size and we NEVER have left overs - which makes me kind of sad because we want more, we will either have to start sizing up our orders or eating less the day of?! lol! Some flavors will be sweeter than others - they're mimicking things like candy/sweets and the non baked good versions are equally as sweet but they're still so good - the deadpool cake was cotton candy - tastes exactly like cotton candy in all its sugary goodness! Their customer service team and store front staff are so friendly and helpful too! I can't say enough good things about Jenna Rae Cakes! Thank you again

Lovely little place to pop in for a hearty brunch or something light. Friendly folks serving fresh ingredients is always great. The corned beef sandwich was delicious with everything super fresh. My friend brought me here for lunch and I was blown away. A real gem on Henderson! Walking in I was welcomed to a quaint and cozy dining area. I ordered the hot chocolate with m&m’s on top which did not disappoint. My friend recommended the veggie bagel and oh my goodness! I didn’t know a veggie bagel could be so stellar! I had it along side the soup of the day which was cauliflower and it was just as delicious as everything else! Our server was friendly and fast! Definitely will be returning with more new customers (and for a piece of that Skor cheesecake)! A overall fantastic experience!

The waitress was super sweet but the food was either not good or incorrect. We ordered nachos that arrived without proper toppings, and the French onion soup was an utter disappointment, you could count the pieces of cheese and bread in the soup with one hand. It would make sense if it was during rush hour, but we were the only people there. I've been going here for years and the food up until recently has lost its quality, not worth the prices.

Another delicious meal from grace cafe. I loved my Greek salad and turkey melt, (even more than their corn beef melt). Also ordered their seasonal eggnog latte and turtle cheesecake- super yummy. Servers are very kind, food came out promptly. Spent my entire Friday afternoon studying here.

The food at this cozy little restaurant is outstanding. The sandwiches and wraps are super fresh - loaded with high quality fillings and DELICIOUS. The soups - we've tried the potato leek and also the mushroom, and can say that they are absolutely fantastic. So good!! The desserts, quiche and breads are made onsite, so they're super fresh and unbeatable. The service was attentive and the surroundings were comfortable with soft background music and peaceful - no glaring tv screens! Also, decent parking in a safe area. Everything you could want in a restaurant:-)

The worst onion soup I've ever had in my life Lipton is better. Had almost my onions and almost no flavor. They threw a few croutons on top and some grated marble cheese that you buy in the package. And it wasn't even melted properly like normal onion soup

My 1st time there will be the 1st of many! What an amazing quaint little Cafe! The service is incredible and the food is perfect for a light lunch. A great place for a coffee and desert! Looking forward to many more visits to this establishment! If they offered a baking and decorating workshop, I'd be all over it!

Treated my partner and me to a delicious heart-shaped cake from Cake-ology last week. The cake was beautifully made and tasted just as good as it looked. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a special treat.

Light, basque cheesecake is not too sweet. Very good. Lemon Raspberry Tart is also an excellent choice. I liked they used a softer buttery crust than the usual hard crust at most places. Unique combination of flavors like bacon, fig jam, goat cheese croissant. It's a busy place in the Exchange District. The desserts tasted pretty fresh. Take out place or outdoors on a nice day. In-out. Update (14/06/25): Went again, but this time for cupcakes.

A little slice of heaven in the heart of the city! I recently visited Cakeology and was absolutely blown away. Every dessert I tried was a masterpiece—rich in flavor, beautifully presented, and clearly made with love. The atmosphere is cozy and colorful, with so much charm and attention to detail. It’s one of those places where everything feels just right: from the warm welcome to the last delicious bite. If you’re a dessert lover, Cakeology is an absolute must. Can’t wait to go back!

This place has an inviting vibe, as evidenced by their “cake” signboard. The cupcakes are heavenly to look at, and the taste is amazing—not too sweet like the others. This one is perfectly made and moist. The service was incredible, way beyond my expectations. Thanks for letting me taste my coffee with ice cream on top!

Had a great time here on First Friday, enjoying our treats on their patio. We tried three different flavours of ice cream and some cake. Love that they had vegan options too! The owner is very gracious and the staff were top notch. Highly recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

On the weekend, we visited your establishment, it was very nice from the outside, but when we entered the inside, it smelled very unpleasant. It is a very small establishment in the middle and there is no place to sit down to enjoy dessert. There was a very small selection of desserts, we chose a lemon leaf dessert which was very tasty and the children chose a colored meringue. Would like to try your Suprême.

Nestled in the heart of Winnipeg, Dolce Bake Shop has become a beloved destination for dessert enthusiasts, thanks to its unwavering commitment to quality and flavor. Patrons rave about the shop's ability to deliver consistently delicious treats that keep them returning time after time. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply indulging your sweet tooth, Dolce Bake Shop is ready to impress with an array of delightful pastries, tarts, cupcakes, and cake pops.
I called at the end of the day yesterday to get a small Gender Reveal cupcake, and I was sure I wasn't giving enough time for them to fulfill the order. The woman that helped me out made our cupcake within ten minutes and we found out we were having a baby boy! So grateful they could do this for us so quickly! Bonus, it was the BEST cupcake we've ever had. Thank you!!
Hailey C — Google review
So so grateful to Dolce for accommodating our request for personalized coloured icing for our Gender Reveal party! They made the ordering process so easy and created exactly what we asked for in cupcakes and cake pops! Thank you, thank you. We ordered four different flavour types of cupcakes and two different flavoured cake pops, and everything was equally delicious. The cake pops were individually wrapped to make it more fancy for the party. When picking up, the treats were neatly packed in beautiful boxes to make transport and display easy.

I should have read reviews before ordering, but since this place is not far from our house we just gave it a try. Before ordering whole cake we took sample pastries and taste of those was very good. So my daughter wanted strawberry shortcake and here is what we got!!!! So frustrating- ugly green text, breadcrumbs as decor? For real? Yes!!! So we yet to see how it tastes and I will update this review, but if you are looking for any design or decor NEVER order from this place!

Ordered custom cupcakes for my son’s first birthday and oh my gosh! Not only were they so cute, they were so delicious and not too sweet!! I showed them what I wanted and they brought it to life and so much better than I could have imagined! And the price was great too!! Definitely recommend and going to make sure they are my go to place for customs!

Wonderful staff, incredible product. Ordered 2 dozen cupcakes for an event and everyone adored them. 10/10, will shop again. The vanilla cake with lemon was especially divine.
Erik M — Google review
Overall pretty good. Great selection and beautiful decorations. But....not as delicious as I was hoping. Crust was overworked, tough and too thick. Lemon filling was just whipped cream, not enjoyable. Brownie was too cake like. I'm always sad when baked goods don't live up to their image. I would go back try some more, but I hope they can put more love into flavour.
BT R — Google review
A wonderful variety of different pastries, tarts, and almost anything you can label as baked sweets. The service process is a little confusing- there should be a clear place to line up, select your order, and pay at the end near the door. To complicate things, people who are looking for a custom order for a cake, etc need to wait in the pick-up line. A girl came out of the back to see if the woman in front of me had been looked after but when she said yes she didn't ask me 😭 and went back into the back. The product is exceptional but the store layout needs some work to process customers faster. I'll be in touch.
Shane C — Google review
The best place to avoid if you have allergies. They should consider themselves lucky I’m not demanding a refund—but if they had more than one location, I’d be at the second one making sure they never make this mistake again, along with demanding a refund for compensation. I ordered a special happy birthday cake and explicitly said: no chocolate of any kind due to a severe allergy. They said, “Of course.” So what did we get? Chocolate drizzle. I don’t care what kind of weekend they’re having—when someone ignores a serious allergy warning, that’s not a mistake, that’s negligence. And they’d better be ready to be held accountable. If they had simply made an error on the order, fine—I get it, busy weekend, things happen. But this? This is not something I’m taking lying down… or standing up. Do not go to this place. This was our last time ordering here, and I highly recommend making it your first time avoiding it.

Nestled in the heart of Winnipeg, Sleepy Owl Bread is a delightful from-scratch bakery that truly embodies the art of baking. Known for its exceptional offerings, this charming spot has become a favorite among locals and visitors alike. The hemp multigrain loaf stands out as a top choice for many, perfect for toasting and enjoying with your morning coffee. During my recent visit, I was captivated by their fresh pastries—especially the flaky croissants that have garnered rave reviews from seasoned travelers.
Firts time to visit Sleepy Owl after being recommended by a friend. The woman who helped me was super nice and welcoming. She gave me time to explore the menu while educating me about the different baked items. I bought fresh danishes and a couple of savory baked goods. She even convinced me to try the special of the day; a delicious sour dough bread with potatoes and onions. I am super impressed with the quality and will visit again soon!

Amazing selection of danishes. I also really enjoyed their filled croissants which is available on Saturdays. Highly recommend!

Between Gato Bakeshop, Eadha Bread, La Belle Baguette, French Way Cafe, and The Pennyloaf Bakery, we are spoiled for baked goods in Winnipeg. Sleepy Owl Bread also belongs on this list. Fresh flaky pastries that are just the right amount of sweet/ savory. Admittedly, we have not had a loaf yet, but everything we tried was great. Not pictured is the confit tomato and pickle pretzel croissant, which was the best of them all and did not last the ride home. The space only accommodates pick-up; however, the staff are knowledgeable and the prices are reasonable for the high quality. It is worth the drive to try Sleepy Owl Bakery if you do not live in Minto or the West End. Make sure to go early on the weekend as many of the favourites will be sold out by noon. Highly recommend as a Saturday morning treat!

Very buttery croissants! They have special of the day breads or buns not usually offered on a regular basis. This is take out only. There is a cafe a few stalls away. This street is mostly industrial business and one would not imagine having food places such as this bakery, a cafe, a kombucha place, a pizzeria.

I had a great experience in this beautiful and delicious bakery. I stepped in the bakery and get recognized by staff immediately with great smile and energy, I saw a wide variety of pastries, bread and cinnamon roles. The cherry on the cake moment for me is the special items they bring everyday to people. Overall I really enjoyed it

Marina ( — Google review
I love fresh baked goods, and on one of my first outings since lockdown I had coffee with an old friend. He told me he had encountered this bakery on Wall street and it had the best croissants he had ever tasted. Now, my friend is not immune to hyperbole, but he is also a world traveler so we visited the place on Friday. They are not overly large. During covid they are restricting customers to only 2 at a time and there are large shields to protect every one so its fairly comfortable and safe. While we were in there were at least 3 people who opened the door to check if they could come in but everyone politely obeyed the distancing protocols without complaint. In addition to the croissants, which are indeed among the best I have ever tasted, they have a nice range of breads and buns. I also took home a loaf of whole wheat sourdough and their sunflower sourdough. 3 croissants and the 2 loaves came to $20.00 but they were worth it. The croissants were flakey and buttery without being crumby, my wife and I warmed them up in a 150 f oven for 10 minutes and had them with fresh coffee the next morning. Devine. The bread, both loaves, are perfect examples of sourdough. Nice crust and chewy with excellent flavour. We had a couple of slices with a salad for supper and it was an excellent pairing. I cut off the odd shaped ends and cubed them to make croutons. I'm looking forward to toasting the bread for breakfast. The only negative I can think of is access. I wasn't driving and forgot to check for parking. On street parking is limited, and there is a hydrant near their door. You might want to check out maps or call them about parking, but on the plus side, the sign out front did offer curbside pickup

I ordered the Whole Wheat Raisin, and Caramel Rosemary. I really dig the Pina Colada sticky bun, too. They're all so incredibly delicious. The only spot you need to know about, in Winnipeg, if you're looking for legit sticky buns; just like grandma used to make. The coffee's great, too. The bean blend compliments the buns. Order a large, add your own cream. Enjoy life. Heal your soul.

They have great cinnamon buns of different flavours. Had the Poppy Seed Citrus bun - it was delicious and very enjoyable - it had a great crunch to it and it was nice and dark. Also ordered the Carrot Ginger w/cream cheese icing bun - it was good, but actually the cream cheese frosting was a little too heavy for me - not exactly like a carrot cake where it is more sugary and it didn't entirely fit with the taste of the bun. We also ordered the breakfast bun with the cheeses and meat - it was a perfect combination of sweet and salty - really enjoyable.

It was great. I went there today and tried the dagma or something as it was recommended. I loved it :) the clerk was helpful. He was not friendly because I think I annoyed him by asking too many questions to get only one bun. So I feel bad about that. But really, the bun was amazing.balance of the temp, sweetness, softness, fruitiness, and size was just so perfect :).

I ordered two cakes for my mom's 85th birthday. I requested cakes that reflected the things she is famous for in our family - one being soups and pies and the other her love of gardening, specifically peony and daisy bouquets. Chocolate Zen did an incredible job on her cakes and we could not have been happier with the results - my mom was blown away! I highly recommend Chocolate Zen for anyone needing custom cakes.

Went to Chaeban for the first time yesterday. The ice cream was some of the best I've had, so I bought a pint to take home. I also purchased 3 imperial cookies from **Zen Bakery**, and one of them (that I know of so far) had a large piece of plastic baked into it. Lucky thing I noticed it and pulled it out of my mouth (see photo for size) before swallowing. This is a serious choking hazard. Just imagine if it had been a small child that tried to eat this cookie. The plastic in the cookie I was sold is the only reason why I can't give 5 stars.

The smell was out of this world. The welcome wasn’t warm. Waited several mins to have anyone come help. Great looking items. Some nice cakes with rich flavors but left a sour taste for me.

As someone who enjoys visiting different cafés around Winnipeg, I decided to stop by Chocolate En Bakery because the place looked cozy and inviting from the outside. The display was full of pastries and chocolate — definitely appealing if you have a sweet tooth. I ordered a muffin, which was a bit too sweet for my taste, but it was fresh. I also had a coffee, which was nothing special — pretty standard, just like what you'd find anywhere else. However, what really disappointed me was the customer service. Despite the warm and welcoming vibe of the space, the service was the complete opposite. The staff member who served me was rude and seemed like she didn’t want to be there at all. It was an unpleasant contrast and made the whole experience uncomfortable. Overall, while the bakery looks great and the pastries are fresh, the poor service left a bad impression. I hope they work on improving that

Gâto Bakeshop is a popular spot in the West End that has been a favorite for years. It started as a market stall and delivery service, but now it's an actual store, fulfilling the dreams of many fans. The bakery and cafe are known for their sourdough creations made with high-quality, sustainably-sourced ingredients. They offer both vegan and non-vegan options that are equally delicious and flavorful.
Always wanted to try Gâto! Glad we finally had the chance, we were lucky they still had the special! Pineapple Crème filled Croissant! Very yummy, the filling was so light and airy, while the outside was still crispy! We really enjoyed it!
Taisa M — Google review
Breakfast croissant was an interesting tasty take with the layers crisp flaky and buttery. The custard filled ones weren't crispy and flaky (likely the custard & possibly time since it's been filled), and they didn't skimp on the filling, which is a bit much overpowering the pastry - still tasty though. Had a drip coffee which was surprisingly good. The sourdough is similar to other Winnipeg bakeries but found the crust too tough and chewy. The crum had a good flavour and an airy texture. Overall a place to check out!
Andrew C — Google review
Very friendly service although I went in to grab their special which was already sold out when I came in. I bought a regular croissant and tasted really great. Flaky, lot of layers, good exterior and interior texture and tasted great. They also have breakfast options and sourdough breads

Gato Bakery has a cozy, inviting atmosphere, and I had high hopes for the menu since everything in the webite and FB looked so tempting. We arrived around 3:45 PM, just 15 minutes before closing, so that might have affected our experience. The croissants were just average, but I think it was due to the limited selection at the end of the day. We ordered the almond croissant, vegan sourdough croissant, and a danish. The prices are decent, and there’s a convenient parking area right beside the shop. The lady at the cashier was really helpful and accommodating, which made the visit pleasant. I plan to return during their earlier hours to try more of their pastries .

9.5/10 If you ask me for a hidden gem bakery+cafe shop, you best believe I will mention this bakeshop alongside others. It's an easily overlooked bakeshop across Sargent Ave. that's been in operation for 4 years—and I've just known about it this year. It's most likely because they have a inconspicuous sign that is pretty much invisible to me and many others. It's a sufficiently small place with seating for 2-3 groups or 6 single seating overlooking the window facing the road. The service was friendly and inviting, while adding a touch of mystery and excitement. The atmosphere was good, though not as exceptional as Cafe Nul across the intersection. Overall, it's a shop I would go to every once in a while, and definitely a must-visit for pastry lovers!

Amazing sourdough bakery. Definitely European crust on the sourdough. Not inexpensive but high quality. Many sophisticated flavor options. Beautiful breads and croissants. The fruit and nut sourdough was too hard to stop eating. The vegan potato croissant was an amazing savory croissant. Definitely recommend.

Highly recommend this bakery and cafe that specializes in sourdough creations using sustainably-sourced, high quality and premium ingredients. Their hot cross buns (got during Easter Sunday) were good too and not too sweet like the typical hot cross buns I’ve tasted. Can’t wait to try their other breads and pastries and desserts. I really enjoyed the cream puffs and cheese tarts. They were absolutely delicious! You can tell they use high-quality, fresh ingredients in everything they make. I also tried their matcha strawberry latte, and it was surprisingly good — not too sweet, with a nice balance of flavors. Everything I had tasted fresh and well made. I highly recommend this bakery if you’re looking for great desserts and drinks!

Desserts aren't overly sweet. They're reasonably priced with good selection. Nice that they have cheese tarts. Mini cheesecakes are good. I did find the flavors they say they are, aren't overly strong. Eating one cheesecake to the next, they seem to all blend together in flavor. Nevertheless, it's surprising to have such a bakery in the area. So I'd like to see them succeed as it's in an unexpected area despite next door, the Northgate Mall usu being very busy. It's a small, quaint store front. There isn't anywhere to eat in if your wanted to. My suggestion would be to put up a counter height table along the window. Don't necessarily need chairs.

I went there and ordered Vienna Matcha and omg it is so good!!!!! The match colour is vibrant green and it tastes so good!!! Some matcha latter, the milk will overpower the matcha so when you drink it you can’t really taste the matcha. But for us bakery’s matcha flavour actually stands out from their matcha latte yet not bitter at all! The Vienna Matcha I ordered was 50% sugar, maybe next time i will order the original sugar level. I also tried their cookies, it’s also pretty good! I like the oatmeal cookie, you can actually taste the oat flavour. I think next time I will try their cake or crème puff and strawberry matcha. I will update my review once I’ve tried! :)

Tall Grass Prairie Bread Company is a renowned local bakery with two locations in Winnipeg, Manitoba. They take pride in using Manitoba-grown ingredients and supporting sustainable farming practices. Their menu features beloved items like the folk festival cookie and sticky sweet cinnamon buns made with freshly ground whole wheat. At their Forks Market location, visitors can indulge in popular treats like cinnamon croissants and wild rice bannock spread with butter and Manitoba Saskatoon berry jam.
Great atmosphere, great staff, and of course great food! I would highly recommend anyone visiting to come to the Forks Market and have any item offered under the menu, from desserts to sandwiches. They are all amazing. The staff is friendly, and although there was quite a long line as this place is clearly in demand (and great food), it went quick and efficient. I initially went to the Westminster store on the Thursday before Thanksgiving hoping to get two turkey dinners to go. While they didn't have any left, they were very helpful in locating a large turkey dinner. I went to The Forks and picked up a "large" which was huge and fantastic. It easily fed two. Every part of it was delicious, from the carrots, peas, and onions to the mashed potatoes, gravy, turkey and stuffing. All of it beautifully cooked. The turkey was moist and tender. We couldn't have asked for better. We heated the dinner in the oven as per instructions, with no fuss. I've always enjoyed their entrees and Thanksgiving surpassed all my previous experiences with Tall Grass Prairie!

I'd like to share with you about a life-changing cinnamon nutmeg roll I had from Eadha today. While I typically opt for one of their scones, I arrived two minutes to closing and saw the only remaining sweet treat was a single cinnamon nutmeg roll. The cream cheese frosting practically winked at me as I looked at it through the display case. I was able to restrain myself from ripping open the plastic wrap but only just so as I was able to walk the 8 paces from the bakery door to my vehicle. This sour, spicy, gooey, and luscious treat was everything I needed, and more. When i say life-changing, I mean it truly. The aromatic spice of the nutmeg is the taste I didn't know was missing from my cinnamon roll life. I had to stop myself from closing my eyes while eating as it would have interfered with my drive home. There was no way I would share this delicious treat with my family, friends, or my most deserving partner. This morsel from another universe was intended for me only. That said, I sincerely hope you go to this beautiful hidden gem of an establishment and treat yourself to not just one, but an entire tray of these. The world needs more delicious treats, it needs more sourdough, and it needs more of whatever it is that these incredible bakers are doing. Marcii, meegwetch, and thanks a million for this fantastic baked good experience.

I absolutely adore this bakery. The best sourdough in the city, but not only that, the people who own and operate it are kind and inclusive. Not only is it a queer safe environment, they treat EVERYONE with dignity and respect, regardless of appearance, housing status, etc. Truly a community staple for the west end, and very much worth the trip if you live in another neighbourhood. 13/10 would recommend.

Eadha Bread is a lovely bakery. It opened in early 2018 and has quite a number of sourdough bread products. The bread is flavorful, hearty and chewy (and delicious!). My favorite types are the regularly sourdough and tahini variety. Eadha even makes cinnamon buns made with sourdough – denser and chewier than what most people are used to but still really good. They have promotions every month or so, and as such, it is worth checking out their Instagram page to monitor what special events are coming up. A couple of months ago, they had a promotional item where they made some sourdough pastry with scrambled eggs and other ingredients and it was amazing.

The most incredible sourdough everything! Cinnamon nutmeg cinnamon bun has got to be one of the best treats. I never eat much gluten because my insides suck, but Eadha bread I’m ok with! (I am not celiac) . Atmosphere only 3 stars because I wish there was a dine in option and air conditioner haha. Love this happy , community minded, queer bakery. I just need to remember money next time for their pay it forward bread vouchers.

Arabelle's Bakery is a bakery located in the heart of the city and it always has delicious bread, pies, and pastries for sale. The staff there is always friendly and willing to help you find what you're looking for.
Popped in to see what they had here and picked up a few items. The Lagos Loaf bread rolls are amazing. The dude that took care of me was super friendly and was great with all my questions. The chicken and meat pies were very good as well. I recommended checking them out.

Be careful when you buy bread from this bakery. I recently bought bread from here and was shocked to find pieces of wood in the first two slices. Really disappointing. **Update: I’ve seen the owner’s response and would like to clarify that this is not a false claim. I’ve uploaded multiple photos clearly showing pieces of wood embedded in the bread I bought. I understand that accidents can happen, but the way this concern was dismissed along with the implication that I may be dishonest is disappointing. Also, whether or not your facility has wooden surfaces doesn’t change the fact that there was wood in my bread. I stand by my review and hope that this issue is taken more seriously moving forward. I would also like to add that I bought this bread directly from the bakery on Archibald.
Phoebe — Google review
Great place. Bread has improved over the years especially with the amount of sugar added. Too much sugar is not healthy. They have modified this and it tastes better. However, they need to watch salt in their snacks. The scotch eggs and meat pie I bought today were too salty, especially the sausage and breadcrumbs around the scotch eggs. Please and please watch this. Kindly reduced that salt by half. It is also unhealthy and even more dangerous than sugar. The filling of the meat pie is a lot saltier than normal.
Michael A — Google review
Tried the Lagos buns for my first visit here. While the first row was quite tasty, the bag smelled very yeasty. The reason was revealed as I got to the middle two rows of the buns. Two of the buns were almost completely uncooked, and the middle of the second last row as well (the picture on the plate you can see the cross section of one whole bun) the piece on the left was the top of the bun, which was cooked. The bottom two thirds was uncooked, and still stretchy like dough. Not a fan of having to worry about how to bake my bread. Don't think I'll be coming for a second visit.
Kuri889 — Google review
It was quite an impressive experience with its signature Lagos bread and ewa Aganyin, which is so tasty. Though the sugar in the beans is not friendly with people on strict dietary issues. Above all, it is a place to get the right food, pastries and of course the Lagos bread, fresh and fresh.

Really nice place, clean and quiet, however parking is limited and the service staff were rude and not friendly. Bags cost $0.25 are are inadequate for heavy loaves of bread.

The Butter Tart Lady is a beloved spot for homemade baked goods, offering a variety of cookies, tarts, and dainties made with love and care. Visitors rave about the incredible pecan butter tart with its buttery, flaky crust and rich caramel filling. The friendly service and decent variety of treats make it a must-visit for satisfying your butter tart cravings. Customers also appreciate the quality pastry and delicious classic flavors available at this charming local bakery.
Tried out The Butter Tart Lady for the first via Too Good To Go which is discounted food so it doesn’t go to waste. I paid $8 for an Imperial Cookie, Lemon Poppyseed Cookie and a few other things which I think is definitely worth it. Everything tasted great. Based on this experience, I think I’ll definitely be revisiting again even if I buy at full price.

Great place overall. Parking is very limited but there’s side streets to park on nearby. Staff are friendly greet customers as they walk in. They have fresh items and frozen items. They are famous for their butter tarts. They have many many flavours so you’re bound to find some you’ll gorge on. They also make pies, cinnamon rolls, scones and have other small desserts available. Would recommend dropping in. Prices are ranged a little higher than grocery store items but taste way better.

Always amazing! My favorite is the pecan butter tarts, but the lemon pie is the best ever. Lots of selection, and friendly service.

The butter tarts have the perfect pastry/filling ratio. I don’t love a lot of crust in my tarts so these are perfect! Best I’ve ever had. :)

Enjoyed a delicious pecan butter tart from their stand at the Assiniboine Night Market and it was INCREDIBLE! Buttery and flakey crust, loaded with chopped pecans enrobed in rich buttery caramel. Absolutely divine! Make sure to stop here for your butter tart cravings because they sure satisfied mine.

Green Ninja Eatery is a perfect stop during a bike ride, offering clean and airy outdoor decks shielded from traffic. The mango and pineapple infused iced tea is refreshing and reasonably priced. Customers love the delicious and unique food, such as the kimchi pulled pork routine, along with amazing desserts like cake pops. While some have experienced slower service, the portion sizes and affordable prices make up for it.
Really good food here. My favourite is the coconut curry soup, best I found in town. Service is very good, nice atmosphere and very clean. They have some great desserts as well! Check it out!
Street G — Google review
Food and delivery grievances. Used doordash delivery. Database had poor performance, wouldn't let me sign in, wouldn't let me use my FB account to sign in. Called on the phone to order. Because I had to call, I couldn't enter my own address online and the delivery driver was sent across town to the wrong address. All this up to this point was fine, but on top of that I got their "coconut curry soup" for the first time, and it was literally ALL thick, mushy noodles with maybe 1/2 cup (half a cup) of broth for over $10! It's winter, I wanted hot soup and I was really disappointed. (see pic) Their Pancit is good, service is friendly but the soup and their delivery service was bad enough to make me go elsewhere.

I really loved the kimchi pulled pork routine, very interesting combination of flavours! The deserts were also amazing, I wanted to try all of the cake pops! Though the service is a little slower than other restaurants, the portion sizes and the food itself makes up for the wait. The prices are also very affordable!

Hands down the best Green Curry chicken i have ever had. We order Green Ninja at my work about once a month. Kimchi fries are to die for, delicious spring rolls, i could go on all day. Excellent food. Great prices. Zero complaints.

I love the food here! Its very delicious and unique, always a great meal. But I will complain about the bubble tea.. I ordered two bubble teas with my meal through skip the dishes and one of them seemed to have way too much ice in it and wasn't blended properly. it was barely drinkable because of this and it had big chunks of ice. The bubble tea was disappointing but food is always 5 stars
Likeatanktop13 — Google review
A good spot to drop in during a bicycle ride. Clean, airy and outdoor decks are shielded from traffic in a nice setting. Mango and Pineapple infused iced tea was refreshing on a hot day and better than those big coffee shop prices and fare. Excellent, friendly service. Surprised this place was not overcrowded with customers on a hot summer's day… Will go back to try their other interesting menu items… All reasonably priced.

I've tried this Green Ninja out a few times now with two different work colleagues. 1st time was a poor experience soft super greasy fries and dried out pork with no flavor. 2nd time 2 years later now thought maybe it was a one off so I'll have another go. Same thing! Super dried out flavorless chicken and super greasy and mush fries. Honestly one of the worst meals we have had at a restaurant no sure how they are staying afloat. These 5 stars reviews must be family or friends.

KUB Bread is a beloved Winnipeg staple known for its fresh, soft loaves that are often still warm if you arrive early. The temptation to indulge in their warm bread or cinnamon buns on the way home is hard to resist. Customers appreciate the reasonable prices and friendly service, with many praising the quality of their rye bread.
The bread is always fresh and soft. If you are there early enough, it is still warm. Chances of warm bread or cinnamon buns making it home without eating some is highly unlikely. It's priced better too! Definitely recommended. The boss Ross is great too!

Did they forget to add poppyseeds to this poppyseed roll? It wasn’t only this slice either. The dough was good and moist, but a disappointing poppyseed roll otherwise.
Michal B — Google review
After the original owners closed we spent months trying to find anything that resembled our favourite Red River multigrain bread, but had absolutely no luck. When the new owners took over, we then searched for it at various grocery stores. Finally last week, my husband found 2 loaves at our nearby grocery store. The ‘best by’ date indicated that it was supposedly fresh. What an epic disappointment! It is the worst bread I’ve ever eaten! Clearly they do not have the correct recipe. The bread was white with a couple of specks of some kind of brown seed. It is very dry, the crust flakes off at the touch, and as I was dividing it into smaller packages for freezing, much of it just crumbled into dry bits. I had to throw at least a third of each loaf into the garbage disposal. It looks awful and tastes terrible. It’s even worse when toasted. It bears absolutely no resemblance whatsoever to Red River multigrain and they should not be selling it as that in the original packaging. It’s false advertising and a total travesty. It should be called ‘Slightly Moistened Raw Flour with Some Brown Things’.
Auntie B — Google review
FYI. They're closed. I guess they couldn't bother updating their website or Google business listing. Luckily there's plenty of other bakeries to buy from. I won't bother wasting my time coming back here. Edit: If you're in the area be sure to check out Sleepy Owl Bread. They're just around the corner and have excellent fresh bread. I found them because of this inconvenience by Kub, so thanks to Kub bakery for helping me find a decent bakery.

I was so disappointed when my red river multigrain was no longer available, but found it somewhere else in the same packaging. I bought 2 loaves. It was awful, dry and hard. The boys have to figure out what's wrong. I won't be buying any more and 5he loaves are in the garbage.

Cinnamon Buns are very good! We tried the original one and chocolate one since it was our first time there. They didn’t disappoint. The original ones are not sickeningly sweet which I appreciated and if you like sweet but not too sweet they are perfect. The chocolate ones were sweeter which was to be expected. We will definitely try some with toppings next time. The ones with nuts on top look really good!

Cinnamon buns or 10 out of 10. They are pricey but freshly amazing. I also got a lukewarm grainy cup of coffee. And a damp cheese sandwiches that had brown-wilted lettuce that made a mess of my counter. The environment style of the dining room was quaint. 1 sandwich 1 cinnamon bun 1 coffee =25$ I would go again just for the cinnamon buns and the friendly service of course!

Was in need of a cake for a friends birthday. I had never been here but live close and had seen it many times. A quick Google search and I called to ask if they had ready to go items or if you had to pre-order. They accept both types of orders. They have many types of cookies and danties ready to go as well as several varieties of cake. When I went in, the staff member was so kind and polite. She was very patient as she had to explain the types of cakes they had several times. They are not on display except some for size comparison. I ended up with a Sheldon cake and some candles. A chocolate cake with strawberry/ raspberry icing (you can see the flecks of berry in the icing). $27 for a cake that is homemade from scratch and no preservatives added, so I was told. I was very impressed with the seevice and the product. We ate the cake and it was fantastic. I was happy 100% all around with this place and I will for sure be back. Bought the cake on Fri March 26 around 430pm. GO CHECK THIS PLACE OUT!

Panaderia Lakomka Bakery & Convenience Store is a haven for pastry lovers, offering an irresistible selection of pastries and customized cakes that are described as masterpieces. The store's wedding cakes are particularly noteworthy. With a wide variety of pastries to choose from, including options in the frozen section, it's easy to find something to satisfy your cravings. While some may find the latte a bit too sweet, the cherry chocolate muffin is considered decent.
This store has the pastries you cannot resist. They are able to provide customized cakes by making an appointment, and their wedding cake, omg, is like a masterpiece.

The baked goods are never fresh and at certain points, the cream or any dairy has completely gone off. They have absolutely no cigarettes and the stock is very empty. The milk is either a couple days to expiring or over the expiry date. DO NOT shop here. Save yourself the money and go to someplace else.
Melissa G — Google review
Don’t order from this business ever, they are unreliable, take money and don’t prepare anything, they just don’t send the orders to the baker, and then blame others for not checking in advance if they have the order. I discovered two hours before my wedding that my order was not given to the baker and therefore they can’t comply with the order, the owner who took the order didn’t pick up the phone and avoided us. It is absolutely disgusting! When posted a review on facebook page, it was deleted by Ronald Yamid Jimenez, because we refused to remove our negative feedback and write lies, which is what the owner was asking us to do. When he “finally” had the time to reach out to us about HIS mistake, he blamed everyone in his store except for himself, and he took the order. The order has been placed with Ronald Yamid Jimenez personally in August of 2017. In January of 2018 I have attended the store and had paid the outstanding amount in full to the store clerk. At the time the store clerk has called Ronald Yamid Jimenez right in front of me and informed him that payment for the bread has been made in full, confirmed timelines and then told me that all is on track. A few hours before the wedding, when the bread was supposed to be picked up, it turned out that the bread is not ready, in fact it turned out that the Ronald Yamid Jimenez NEVER PROVIDED THE ORDER TO THE BAKER. (We have a traditional bread that must be served at a wedding, 2 years ago when my friend was getting married I brought that idea to the store and that was the first time they made it, it helped them get on the Russian/Ukrainian market and make money of something most bakeries in Winnipeg do not offer). However, I want to thank Tanya, for saving the situation and starting bread in a hurry. The bread did not look the way it was ordered, nor did it taste how it should have, but we needed one, so we accepted the hurried and undercooked work. Not to mention the emotional distress on my wedding day, and the fact that Ronald Yamid Jimenez simply didn’t answer any of our calls. My husband had to get involved and have a “chat” with the store staff to solve the problem, expressing his concern for his fiancé crying on her wedding day. It was an awful experience. The second problem is in the fact that Ronald Yamid Jimenez reached out to me after the wedding blaming me for not calling him to confirm the order yet again a day before the wedding, blaming his staff that took the payment in not giving the order to the baker, even though Ronald Yamid Jimenez is the one who took the order, not his clerk. He blamed everyone and everything, except for himself. The cherry at the top of the cake? Him demanding from us to remove the negative feedback since he “fixed” the issue. He had nothing to do with the “fix” that my husband worked out. Ronald Yamid Jimenez was sleeping while we were fighting to fix the issues with the unfulfilled order. When I asked for my money back for the order that was not fulfilled and said that it is disgusting that he is blaming his staff in his mistake he proceeded to delete the negative feedback thereby creating the illusion of a reliable business based on facebook rating, he also blocked the ability of every single member of my family to post a comment to his facebook page. He is not a reliable business and unless you want your wedding day ruined we recommend you avoid Lakomka Bakery and all costs. He is so concerned that the reputation would remain seemingly clean that he would go to the extent of further lying as oppose to trying to fix an issue. He creates false accounts and posts positive reviews around the internet to create an illusion of them being in demand. Also, the bread started growing mold nearly within a day of the wedding. He is using pictures of the pathetic bread he sent to us on his facebook page without our permission and despite our repeated demands to take it down. Do not order from this place, unreliable business not worth your nerves and money.

Since new owners bought Narural bakery the quality of the bread has hit bottom. Loaves are much smaller and I would always purchase Hanover Rye and 6 Grains. The Hanover definitely does not taste the same and doesn't toast like it used to. With the good old Natural Bakery I could toast it till it had some colour and a bit of a crunch. Now no matter how long I toast it, the colour is beige and no crunch!! As for the 6 Grain, what is mostly visible are some poppy seeds!! I threw the Hanover in the garbage and kept the 6 Grain because it toasts a bit better. I will absolutely no longer buy Natural Bakery Bread. Such a disappointment!,

Bimbo company should not have changed the rye bread, now it is full of holes and large crusts at both ends of a loaf, such a waste. Now they no longer make Paska bread a long lasting tradition. they have now lost another customer

Natural Bakery retail store is no more..closed to the public..purchased by an Mexican company which is buying up the smaller bakeries in Canada..expect to pay higher prices for their products at Safeway and other grocery stores...I should add that i will no longer be buying Natural Bakery bread from wherever it's being sold.."City Bread" for me right from their store on Dufferin Avenue...

I’m getting sick of paying for bread with holes taking up half of the slices. It’s a constant thing now and it’s getting annoying. It’s BS. Something change with your quality control or what?
Tiana M — Google review
This Bakery makes great rye bread, my favorite I was fortunate to have an opportunity to see this facility
