Gasthof Neuhaus is a historic restaurant located in Berchtesgaden, Bavaria, Germany. It offers traditional Bavarian cuisine and draft beers within a 16th-century building, complete with a charming beer garden for outdoor dining. The menu features authentic German dishes such as pork knuckle, Bavarian duck with orange sauce, red cabbage, and potato dumplings. Vegetarian options like potatoes, pumpkin soup, and knudels are also available.
Had a wonderful time at Gasthof NEUHAUS! It’s great to see the lederhosen tradition still going strong here. The beer was fantastic, and it was even better to enjoy it while looking at the stunning mountains from the terrace. The fries we ordered were crispy and delicious, a perfect snack to go with the drinks. The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere of the place is fantastic – cozy, traditional, and welcoming. A perfect spot for a relaxed meal and drink with a beautiful view. Highly recommend it!
Wesley R — Google review
Excellent restaurant, full of traditional options and even more vegetables than most German menus. Pork roast and burger recommended from what we tried, but the home made bacon and caraway sauerkraut is excellent. Was also very excited to see palatchinke on the seasonal dessert menu, an uncommon and excellent dish with very high quality ice cream. Like most restaurants in the Berchtesgaden area, also beautiful scenery to sit outside, though also looked nice and cozy inside.
Erich B — Google review
We stopped by here without planning to have a full meal — just wanted a small snack and some drinks — but the place was so inviting we couldn’t resist ordering some German food. And we’re glad we did! The food was absolutely delicious, and the waiters were incredibly friendly and attentive. The location is perfect — right in the old city with a beautiful mountain view that makes the atmosphere even better. Whether you’re looking for a quick bite or a proper meal, this is a lovely spot to relax and enjoy.
Ditti K — Google review
Nice ambience! The indoor area is very crowded, but outdoor seating is available. We didn’t have a reservation and still managed to get a table. The food portions are huge 😅. I had read reviews saying the portions are big, but they are even bigger than other Bavarian restaurants in Germany. The dessert cake portions are also very generous and the daily cake (plum cake?) taste very good with cream. Prices are reasonable and the food tastes good. The crispy duck with orange and red cabbage is really tasty. The roasted pork was a little dry, but it comes with sauce so it was okay. We weren’t sure how to enjoy the side potatoes—maybe mixed with something? Septi is very friendly and helpful. She checked on us during the meal, and her smile made us feel very welcome. We wanted to pay with Amex, and she even changed the payment machine so we could—so sweet of her. “Terima Kasih, Septi!”
Monica W — Google review
Authentic Bavarian restaurant with generous portions and delicious food! The pork knuckle was crispy outside and tender inside — perfect with an HB beer. Friendly service and cozy atmosphere. Outdoor seating is nice, though there might be a few flies when it’s warm, so indoor seats can be a better choice.
Steven C — Google review
The food here is amazing. Had the pork schnitzel and pork knuckle, both were so tasty. Highly recommend getting dessert too, absolutely delicious. Get service as well.
Rebecca F — Google review
Really enjoyed our dinner here. Ne and my wife split the 1/2 pork knuckle and the Bavarian duo (2 pretzels with flavored creek cheeses and butter) and it was SO much food, but both very delicious. The inside is a typical Bavarian interior, which we loved, but opted to sit on the patio despite it being a little chilly. They have furs to sit on and blankets to use if you get too cold. Great view of the mountains from the patio and the service was very attentive and helpful.
Randy T — Google review
It was a Tuesday night and everything closed early but this was open. Service was accommodating and pleasant. We ordered the beef Knödel and also a Gulasch. We were famished and whoever cooked that night were very generous with the salt. It was overtly salty just very very salty.

Goldener Bär is a Bavarian restaurant located at Weihnachtsschutzenplatz 4, offering traditional dishes such as sausages, stews, and beers in a semi-rustic setting with bench seating outside. While the interior may not be as cozy as some other places, they do offer nice outdoor seating. The food quality is generally good to very good, with a special fish weekly menu available. It's advisable to arrive early or make reservations.
We sat at the terrace in the back and it was very cosy. The food was delicious and fast served. I can fully recomand the duck

Fantastic and authentic Bavarian place. Great food, great beer, lovely desserts and Schnapps.

Randomly selected this bar for a quick beer and snack. Thoroughly enjoyed our quick visit, wish we had more time. Pretzel and local beer were exactly what we needed.

During our tour from Salzburg to Berchtesgarten we discovered the back courtyard to this wonderful restaurant. 70 people got off the bus but most stayed on the street side locations. We felt like the insiders by finding this little hideaway. Great customary food and beer, of course. Highly recommend.
Dennis L — Google review
I got the pork hock with big Stein of their wheat beer and it was absolutely delicious. The sauce was great with how it softened the crispy skin of the pork and paired fantasticly with the potato dumplings. I went with my family and we all loved our food and stayed for dessert. The berries and ice-cream was fantastic! Would highly recommend this place on anyone's stop.
Brobert33 — Google review
Fantastic restaurant with a great atmosphere and location. I had the schnitzel and my partner had the roast pork—both were excellent and full of flavor. The spot is easy to get to on foot, and next time we’ll definitely be coming back with bikes to enjoy more of the village. Highly recommend!
Rrroszko R — Google review
Had a pretty good dinner here!! Definitely recommend asking your server for recommendations, especially if you don’t understand much German as the menu is only partially in English 😂. We enjoyed our food as well as our time here. A cozy restaurant with primarily long tables you’ll potentially share with strangers, which is a great opportunity to connect with new people. Highly recommend if you’re looking for good German food in the area!
Rebecca F — Google review
Enjoyed a wonderful lunch during our quick stop at Berchtesgaden. I had the Bratwurst and Sauerkraut and hubby had the burger and fries. And a beer (of course). All was delicious! I would’ve given 5 stars for food but my dish was a bit salty…not sure if that is just the tradition or not. My hubby’s fries were delicious!! Our server was wonderful and things came out quickly which accommodated our tight timeline.

Bräustüberl is a historic beer hall in Berchtesgaden, dating back to 1645, offering a true taste of Bavarian cuisine and culture. The traditional dining rooms and beer garden provide the perfect setting to savor Bavarian specialties such as schnitzels, wursts, sauerkraut, and frankfurters.
Wonderful place for traditional German food! The beer is sublime, got to sample first which was nice! Lol. Average price but you get plenty, Ox in dark beer sauce was lush, but we couldn't finish it, sorry!
Neil M — Google review
Cosy place, fast service and great beers Although, their food is rather pricy. More than 18€ for a Wiener schnitzel, and then not even veal but pork, that’s close to a crime At least beers for less than 5€
Bjørn D — Google review
Their kitchen was closed when we arrived at 3pm but they still had really nice already cooked food options like sausages, roast pork, chicken and a whole lot of salad options. You pay by weight of the dish, price was really good for the amount you get. Would definitely recommend.
Natalie — Google review
Delicious! There have a lot of beer you can choose. Nice restaurant for family and friends.
Ppemi B — Google review
One of the best German food ive had so far. Portion was right. Not too big. Seasoned perfectly as food was not too salty as normally German food would be. Fried chicken was half of chicken and crispy outside and moist inside. Nice restaurant and quite big too. Service was nice though they were busy
Ha N — Google review
Foods were delicious, especially our first try for the local food, Bavaria white sausage, the special-made sauce was what made it so delicious! Fried fish was also nice and recommended. Our waitress was kind and spoke really good English. As a whole, it’s a great dinner experience!

What a wonderful discovery ! The restaurant lives up to its name in the Chef's creations. A very harmonious menu ! And sauces that recall Chef Donckele. A special mention also for the service and for their personalized welcome for children, which is remarkable because it is far too rare in gourmet restaurants of this level. We really appreciated their kindness and flexibility.

Hofbrauhaus Berchtesgaden GmbH is a historic beer hall that dates back to 1645 and is part of the Hofbrauhaus chain. It offers an authentic Bavarian experience with traditional food, lively sing-alongs to live music, and the opportunity to enjoy a 1-liter beer. The brewery also hosts special events like Bierstacheln during New Year's Eve.
The woodworks were very beautiful it felt pretty historic the food on the other hand was not fresh so it was probably made in the morning or so and it was already pretty late the Kraut salad was not so bad but the schnitzel wasn’t so tasty. Me and my girlfriend were alone but we met a very friendly 50 year old who sadly had to stop after his 3rd beer because he still had to drive home but he was lovely company for us and I hope we were for him too. Most significantly he es alone so o guess it was maybe his wish to meet other people alone maybe that is the main thing about places like this to meet other people because

We visited in early August 2023. The brauhaus has an open courtyard with spit roast meats, and a basic, clean restaurant inside. It’s all well worn wood floors, tables, chairs and beams with some stained glass windows. It’s a very old building, it’s dark and has some beautiful old features and pictures on the wall. There are plenty tables. We arrived too soon for the evening meal service, so we just enjoyed a beer while we waited. We had the jubilee beer, it was amazing, so tasty that we ordered another too enjoy with our meal. We had the wurst with sauerkraut and the ox and dumpling, both were very good. They do offer a menu in English which they will offer you if they realise you speak English, however you can just ask for it, but we have enough german to use the regular menu. There were some men in that whooped occasionally and had me jumping in my seat and laughing each time. I didn’t realise that they were also musicians and they started to play traditional German tunes just as we were leaving. I’d have stayed, but we had other plans. A pleasant atmosphere, great beer and lovely food.

Brilliant! Obviously smaller than Munich and Berlin but the beers are the same ie excellent quality and the food is of a high standard. The menu is extensive and of great value. Service second to none. We had fries which came wrapped in paper and were so tasty. This place is deffo worth a visit in the beautiful town of Berchtesgaden, get yourself along!!!

Traditional pub, good local beer. Very cold service which did not make me feel comfortable and thats, for me, very important.

THIS PLACE - BEST FOOD EVER!!! We stopped here after visiting The Eagle's Nest, and we weren't expecting much. It was about the only place open at the end of the day, and we figured it would have to do. We are SO glad we went here! Really friendly, helpful staff who don't speak much English but are friendly and patient. We had a pork medallion over roasted potatoes with bacon and onions and brussel sprouts. I'm not normally a fan of brussel sprouts, but these were really, really good. The potatoes were delicious as well as the pork. I'd eat this meal every day if I could!!! The atmosphere and scenery are relaxing and most importantly the beer is COLD.

(Translated by Google) Spontaneous and late, I still got a good table and hot food. Waldhauser Bräu is open until 10 p.m. Cash only. A visit is definitely worth it. In addition to an exclusive selection of beers, some from their own brewery, there is also a good selection of delicious food. Typical Bavarian specialties like Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle) with homemade fried onions are also available, as are burgers, dumpling variations, and even vegetarian dishes. I can especially recommend the current seasonal pumpkin dish. I had the pumpkin ravioli with Gorgonzola. A delicious treat. The service was also very friendly and attentive. The visit was worthwhile.

(Translated by Google) I ordered roast beef with onions, which looked very good when it arrived. The beef fillet was medium, but everything was lukewarm, from the fillet to the sauce. I called the waiter and complained about the food. I was told that it would be recooked. The food came again after 2 minutes. I thought it couldn't have been recooked, and it had. I thought the plate had been put in the microwave and heated up. The meat was cooked through, the fried potatoes were soft, whereas before they had been crispy, and the sauce had been forgotten; it was just as cold as before. I ate it because I was hungry and didn't want to complain again. The waiter asked if it was okay, and I said it had been reheated. He didn't say anything. No apology, nothing. For me it was the first and last time.

We didn't have any food because we were looking for an early dinner and they had stopped serving at 5 pm, but we had a drink and took in the absolutely amazing view. THE creampuff! It's a small town vibe, where everyone knows everyone else (our taxi driver knew the chef 😄), the tables and floors were clean, our waitress was cheery and bubbly, the views are amazing. And then the creampuff, wow is it good. Crisp outside, fluffy inside, homemade whipped cream and filled with vanilla ice cream. Towered high and too good not to finish. You have to go here! You won't regret it.

Best kitchen is here! Waiters work is super friendly and warm welcome! Prices is touristic - higher than middle. And CASH ONLY! Shame that lots of people will skip this place because you won’t have official income with simple card riders. It’s out of time you will loose more and more people. Not sure it’s legal in Europe

The best food we had during our stay in Berchtesgaden!!! They serve delicious German/Bavarian dishes. I live in Munich, so I can say that the food here is traditional and authentic, and not some mishmash for tourists. The servers were also friendly and attentive. I will definitely eat here again when in Berchtesgaden. Reservations are recommended as the restaurant was quite full.

AVOID AT ALL COST - disgusted by the waitress mocking and gossiping about us with another customer! 1. Waited too long to be seated - which wasn’t an issue at all and we waited patiently. 2. Awfully rude waitress appearing to be very RACIST - Waitress were quite indifferent in taking our orders, and walked away without even allowing me to complete my request for 2 sets of additional cutlery. As soon as dishes were served, she did not provide us with additional cutlery, I opted for self-help remedy and request for additional cutlery from another older waitress, who was kind enough to allow me to self-help. (Context: 6 of us had ordered 4 dishes and 1 soup to share. Bearing in mind there is nothing in the menu that prohibits sharing, it only states that there is an additional “cover” cost of €2.) There came this rude waitress shouting as I walk out carrying the extra spoon. I’m not sure what the issue was honestly, but she came shouting with the menu insisting that there is additional charge for the cutlery, and there was a whole commotion as we tried to explain ourselves. WE HAD NO ISSUE WITH THE ADDITIONAL CHARGE. I can read English perfectly fine and I did not disagree with the additional charges. 3. Food was salty and not worth the price - unfortunately I did not take any pictures as our experience was awfully ruined. Waitress was making a fool out of us with other customers, laughing and mocking us behind our backs. I have recording of how she raised her voice and continually mocked us, but to leave her some dignity, I will let it pass.

Came here on our final night in Berchtesgaden and loved it. Food was excellent and homely. Service was great, a bit on the slow side, but we were happy to wait and enjoy the scenery. Would definitely come back.

We were all pleasantly impressed with the table service, staff were very friendly, positive & efficient. I had the “Bier-Adam” Weißwurst 🍔and a dunkel 🍺 was very 😊, our kids had a soup and schnitzel and were also 😄 . My wife ordered the Schweinebraten and was unfortunately quite 😔, very little flavor (pan sauce extremely salty) Knudel recipe could do with an overhaul. Otherwise, I would honestly visit this establishment again. Keep up the good work.

Gasthaus Unterstein is a cozy establishment that specializes in traditional Bavarian and Austrian cuisine. With an inviting atmosphere, it offers a wide variety of delectable dishes and refreshing beers at reasonable prices. The skilled chefs consistently deliver exceptional food, leaving patrons satisfied on multiple visits. The hardworking waitstaff goes above and beyond to ensure guests are treated well and enjoy their experience. The restaurant also features outdoor seating, making it an ideal spot for dining al fresco.
We ate here due to the Google reviews and they proved they fully deserve them. We had to come back the second evening, just because the food and service is so great. Both evenings the service and food were constant. A massive massive compliment on how good this restaurant cooks his food, treats their guests and gives you a great evening out. Many restaurants can learn something from this place! Please keep this up and give more people this experience.

Just happened to pass by and stopped for a light lunch that turned in to rather more…. Lovely waitresses attended to our lack of German 🇩🇪 but we had lovely food and wine and deserts. Very reasonably priced for the location. Would recommend 😘 thank you ☺️

Came here for dinner and really enjoyed our experience here. The atmosphere is quintessential Bavaria, which is what we wanted. There was a lot of seating in multiple different rooms, so we had no trouble getting a table. The food was also excellent, we got the bratwurst with fried potatoes and sauerkraut as well as the wiener schnitzel and both were solid. (Though if we had to pick one it would be the bratwurst) highly recommend coming here if you’re in the area!

Very tasty food, I tasted sausage and 1/2 chicken, and we changed the side dish to potato salad. It was unreal!
Egidija — Google review
There are better value restaurants around Berchtesgaden. Fries were too salty with the burger, and the Schweinsbratl served in an awkward pan where skin was chewy rather than crunchy !
Joie L — Google review
Lovely place with beautiful wood finishes. The food was beyond delicious. We started off with the tartare with the black bread and this is among the best tartare I’ve had. Then for our mains, we had the veal spare ribs, the pork knuckle, the beef roast and the char. Each dish was exquisitely prepared with flavours complimenting each other really well. For dessert, we shared the mousse. Glad we came upon this place and enjoyed our meal!

This restaurant is a hidden gem, with delicious food and innovative recipes. The chef clearly loves running his own place and hopes to expand its popularity in the coming years.
Fantastic evening of five, vegetarian courses. All courses were amazing and had deep flavour and original presentation. Wines were also very well paired, bringing a sophistication to the whole evening. The restaurant is very small and had no more than six tables, meaning the service was very attentive with being over the top. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends and family visiting Berchtesgaden.

All dishes were elegantly and beautifully displayed on decorative and special plates and the taste was divine. The wines were great and service was wonderful. The owners Maximilian and Roxana have a green Michelin star for sustainability but they deserve a regular Michelin star for taste and presentation.

A lovely and most memorable dining experience provided by the Kuhbecks. A husband and wife duo that serve beautiful food using local suppliers and producers. Food was outstanding and we got matching non alcoholic pairings which enhanced the flavours of each course. We got the tasting menu which also included home made bread, a delicious amuse Bouché and a second dessert. Thank you for the most amazing experience

Delightful little restaurant that has the makings of becoming one of the best in the region. After a bumpy start to our night, we absolutely fell in love with the place. Initially, we were not met with any real greeting or welcome and had to stand by the entrance awkwardly as the hostess/server walked by us a few times before we were acknowledged and shown our table. My husband’s jacket was collected and hung but mine was not (not a big deal, but the inconsistency made me feel disregarded). A beautiful amuse-bouche came out, but we had to sit around wondering when our bottle of wine was coming. I think it was just forgotten, and we had to remind her, but in all fairness she quickly obliged and wonderfully decanted it for us. After those few first hiccups, her service became professional, smooth and friendly so that is all that matters. The whole culinary experience was masterful from start to end. Every plate, utensil, and dish was beautiful to look at, carefully presented, and delicious to eat. I always judge a restaurant based on its bread and olive oil, and theirs was top tier. I was pleased that they offer a set course option along side an à la cart one. It was very evident that all ingredients were exquisitely fresh and local. The small touches and play on colors, textures, and visuals were meticulously thought out and crafted. The indoor area is within a rustic tavern full of character and charm but only holds four tables, so definitely make a reservation. I believe there may be a courtyard that can accommodate more patrons in favorable weather. Our initial (somewhat) cold reception was more than made up for when the chef came out to ask us how everything was and sent us off very warmly at the end of the night. The food was utterly incredible from start to finish, and I cannot wait to go back again. I truly believe if they refine the initial reception to be more warm and acknowledging, they could very well be tapped on the shoulder with a Michelin star in the near future. Bravo to this gem!
Neg C — Google review
Absolutely wonderful little place, a true hidden gem. The food was really, really great and inventive - clearly a talented chef who wanted to run his own place. The place was small and for most of the dinner we were the only customers, I hope more people start coming here and the place stays open for our next visit!

An out-standing cafe in Berchtesgaden.☕️ Never expected such delicious food in a small town.🥹 1. Truffle pasta with beef fillets Such a large portion.🤣 Every linguine is covered with rich and creamy truffle sauce. The beef fillets are perfectly cooked. 2. Beef steak with hash brown and bacon asparagus The steak is zesty and tender. Medium is just right. Deep-fried hash brown is crispy. Truly appreciate the sauce accompanied! 😍

Great experience! Best restaurant in my euro trip! We have ordered fishplate, steak, chanterelle soup and deserts. Although the steak is a little bit overcooked, others are all delicious~ Friendly staff, the little waitress is so cute~
Chiming0306 — Google review
Food was quite pricey for the quality. Ordered the vegetarian curry and the tomato pasta - both tasted very mediocre and bland unfortunately. Vegetarian curry was quite disgusting, had too much cream / coconut milk and it was incredibly heavy as well. Rice was too mushy and felt like there was too much water added. Service felt pretty mediocre compared to those we have gotten around the Berchtesgaden area. Atmosphere was quite nice and romantic but otherwise, the food was only so-so.

We looked for a place around Eagles Nest and saw this restaurant had great views! Definitely lived up to them and the view was fantastic. The food was good and I ordered the ice coffee, which came out in this tremendous glass and was pretty delicious. The service was also very nice and everyone was so pleasant! This place only accepts cash, which we realized when we came to pay. The waitress was very nice as our family sorted through the last of our euros to see if we had enough to pay (which we did). While counting, she kindly told us of a place to get cash and said that she’d give us her mailbox right by there so we could put the rest of the cash in there. While it didn’t come to that and we had enough, it was such a sweet gesture. Overall, an excellent place to come sit and enjoy the view with some food and drinks :)

We had dinner here after our visit to the Eagles Nest. We had table at the window, and even though it was a little cloudy, the views were spectacular. The staff was enthousiastic and friendly. I had the currywurst, which was of very good quality. For I ordered a kaisersmarren, which tasted amazing. My boyfriend had to help finish though, because it was quite a bit for me. But totally worth it, definitely recommend.

Dinner here was my birthday gift. We waited 2 hours for the main course- the waitress was aware of it and repeatedly told us that she knows it’s taking long. Finally I asked her for the bill since nothing happened. The restaurant manager came and apologized, but they didn’t do much to make sure we don’t leave the place angry. Definitely not worth the Kempinski label.

Painfully average experience. While the hotel and the view are spectacular, we were let down by the slow service and very average food in the restaurant. The staff was friendly, but very inconsistent as we dealt with three waiters during our dinner. Drinks were great, but the food was bland and highly overpriced for what it was.

Very good sub-restaurant “grEAT” with tasty meal and perfect service!
Roberts M — Google review
Food is highly overpriced and bad and service is mediocre. Complained about the beef being dry as a bone but got charged the full price. When I complained about it afterwards, waiter's reaction was "why didn't you tell us immediately", not offering to not charge it or not even apologising. Such reaction is not acceptable and unprofessional. Vegan main course option was a joke, being the most basic tomato sauce pasta while setting us back 26 Euros. Waiters never refilled empty wine glasses even though the multiplier on retail wine prices is horrendous. Not recommended.

We dined at this restaurant twice. The first time, we found the food quite good, so we went back for a second visit. After returning home, we saw online that someone had been charged an extra 14% tip at a restaurant in Munich’s Old Town. Curious, we checked our own bill and were shocked to find that we, too, had been charged about a 12% tip. When we paid, we rounded up the bill to give the waiter a tip, but they kept the full amount without mentioning that the tip had already been included. We felt this was very dishonest. For anyone planning to eat here in the future, make sure to check your bill carefully to avoid being overcharged.

I visited this Gasthof in 1982, just after I had entered the US Army. I was on winter survival training that also coincided with Fasching! My very first! The food was absolutely amazing the festival was brilliant I didn’t know what was going on! Two ladies came up to me and started painting my face and kissing me. I immediately knew that I loved Germany. I spent the next twenty years in Germany and would still be there if not for the needs of my father who desperately needed someone to help him, he was getting old as we all will. What I wanted to say besides a great time…. There was a Helles Hefe that had a light Geschmack of pumpkin! Absolutely loved that Bier. Had it only one time but have Never forgotten the taste. Anyway, great job everyone! I loved my time with your people and miss Germany greatly!! Tschuss!!!!

Restaurant Zum Fassl is a charming Bavarian eatery that specializes in mouthwatering burgers, making it a must-visit for food lovers. The cozy atmosphere invites you to relax while enjoying generous portions that are sure to satisfy even the heartiest of appetites. Diners rave about the size of the burgers, with many noting that even the regular size can be quite filling—perfect for those who arrive hungry!
Hi y’all, We visited the restaurant during the main season and it was just lovely. The view (cfn. picture). We had a Jaeger schnitzel with champion sauce and roast potatoes and an original Wiener Schnitzel with roast potatoes. It was super delicious and I highly recommend coming here at least once when you stay here somewhere. King regards Peter

Great place to stop and eat. It’s perched on a hilltop with a great view over the valley and mountains in the distance. The food was very good; typical Bavarian options and a good variety of dishes to choose from. We didn’t see many tourists there which is a good sign! Prices were a little high but it’s worth it for the location and friendliness of the staff.

Nice place to eat or/and drink. We've spot many locals here which is a good sign. The patio was full. We're really hungry but we almost couldn't finish our food. Portions are big. The waitress was very friendly, the prices very reasonable. There is a nice view of mountains from patio so you can enjoy your visit here. The burgers are HUGE even the medium one is a big one! Our friend couldn't finish it which doesn't happen often :-).

We visited the restaurant “Zum Fassl” at Alpenhotel Kronprinz with a large group (12 adults plus children). When making the reservation, we clearly informed the staff about our group size and specifically requested a high chair for a toddler. Unfortunately, upon arrival, no high chair was available – a clear sign that our reservation details had not been taken seriously. Despite the size of our group, we were seated at a table that was far too small. It was immediately obvious that there was not nearly enough space for 13 people. The setup was cramped, uncomfortable, and far from welcoming – not a good start to the evening. The wait for food was over 1¼ hours – which is especially difficult when dining with children. When the food finally arrived, the situation turned chaotic. Two servers began handing out dishes simultaneously, but neither seemed to know what they were actually serving. Although everyone in our group knew exactly what they had ordered, the waiter was completely unable to match meals with the correct guests. One server stood out for all the wrong reasons: they slammed a plate down on the table and said, “I have other guests, too,” in a visibly irritated and rude tone. Such a disrespectful attitude is unacceptable in a restaurant of this supposed standard. To make matters worse, one meal was completely forgotten and only arrived about 30 minutes later – with no apology or explanation. Custom requests, like “no onions” or “no sauce,” were simply ignored, showing a lack of attention both in the kitchen and in the service. As for the food itself – it was underwhelming. For a place that seemingly specializes in burgers, we had expected much better. The dishes were bland, uninspired, and carelessly presented – far from what one would expect from a decent burger restaurant today. Bottom line: Our visit to “Zum Fassl” was a thoroughly disappointing experience. Disorganized and inattentive service, long wait times, ignored requests, and food that failed to deliver – unfortunately, we will not be returning and cannot recommend this restaurant in its current state. When the waitress asked if we had a complaint and we told him our complaint. He was rude and gave us the fault because we only made a reservation for 12 people and not 13.
Markus L — Google review
The burger was HUGE. As other reviews have said, going there hungry is best. We Ordered take away and it was really worth the coin paid. The restaurant said that they would need an hour to prepare the food which was fair enough. The Gro§ Fassl Burger can feed two hungry Asians easily with not enough room to finish the sides. Great service! They omitted the sauce and cheese as was lactose intolerant. Definitely would come here again!
B — Google review
I ordered a steak burger with sweet potato. Everything was fine untill we tried the sweet potato. It tasted bitter and sour, I often cook with sweet potato so i know how it's tastes. After a quick google search i found the answer: "Why does my sweet potato taste bitter? When exposed to light, potatoes manufacture increasing amounts of chlorophyll as well as two bitter-tasting alkaloid compounds, solanine and chaconine. In high concentrations, these can not only make potatoes taste bitter but also can cause headaches and stomachaches." I eat 1/4 of it. We let the waitress lady to know that it's not good, that they don't serve it to others. She brought to the kitchen the sweet potato the chef let us know that it is good and fresh. The waitress lady seems really stressed and offered us a short drink, what we didn't take, we don't drink alcohol. After that we paid and left. I hope the chef get this review, and if he thinks the food is good than he should have come out, and taste it with the customer. This ruined the experience, otherwise I would have give 5 stars.

Nestled in the Obersalzberg mountainside, Skytop has recently reopened under new management and is quickly becoming a sought-after dining destination. The restaurant offers a delightful blend of traditional Bavarian dishes with a modern twist, featuring seasonal specialties and sumptuous steaks. Guests can savor their meals against the breathtaking backdrop of the mountains and enjoy stunning views across the alpine golf course from the expansive terrace.
We had absolutely delicious food here. I tried the pike perch, my partner had the pumpkin ravioli. Although it is the off season now, the staff were on point! We came after touring the salt mine down the road looking for something away from the tourist area. With a varied menu, there is something for everyone. A hidden gem!

Drop by before or after a trip to the Eagle's Nest, for an excellent burger or a vegan hummus/courgette flatbread. It's at a golf course but non-members are welcome.

Excellent food! I had a steak burger on a black bun, which I've never had before. It was delicious!! The sweet potato fries were, too!!

The best restaurant in Berchtesgaden! Skytop-Restaurant provides undoubtedly the best cuisine in the area, and is surrounded by stunning mountain scenery. A varied menu to suit all customers, with different specials added each season, which just adds to the already delicious food on offer. I have eaten at this restaurant numerous times and it has always been the best quality. The young chef is very talented! I highly recommend a visit to Skytop to anyone who enjoys high quality food, at reasonable prices.

This was my third visit to Skytop restaurant in Berchtesgaden and I have never been disappointed. On this occasion I had the teufelstoast, which in general is a dish I love and have tried at a lot of restaurants in Berchtesgaden. I have to say, that this teufelstoast has been my favourite, my number one in town. Highly recommend. For starter I had the grilled goats cheese which was excellent, and for dessert I would highly recommend the crepes too. I will definitely be back again before leaving Berchtesgaden to go home.

This is a lovely little hotel, very friendly staff and owner. The food is top quality. Rooms are fine and clean. Bathroom was refurbished and very modern. All in all top value for your money. It is located in walking distance of the lake and lifts.

Restaurant has a good location and nice terrace with great view on the mountains. Foot taste is good, nothing special, but nothing bad. Salad for the meat dish was a bit strange, cause consisted only from salad leafs, two slices of tomato and one slice of paprica :) It is also a first time heard rule: dish from kids menu is ONLY for kids. If adult would like to order smth from it - he won't get it :) A bit pushy, I'd say.

Randomly stopped here because it looked nice from the road. Was not disappointed, everything was great, schnitzel was tasty and well cooked, felafel was big, gererous and tasty. Waitress was very nice and friendly, and secured a table at a busy time. Recommended.

We just took a dinner here. They were really kind but kitchen is horrible. My sister ordered tomato soup which tasted like Maggi (just like this). My sister give the soup back to waitress and told her that a soup is horrible. We had to pay for it. I ordered a pasta with herbs and there were like 3 leavef of some herbs. And it was with no taste - no salt, nothing.

Cafe - Pension Brandtnerhof is a charming hotel with a tasteful restaurant space and a lovely sun terrace. Its proximity to Konigssee and Jennerbahn makes it an excellent base for delightful hikes in the area. Guests have praised the clean and reasonably priced "economic room" during their two-night stay, as well as the warm hospitality of the owner/chef and hostess/reception.
We are Dutch and were 2 nights in this hotel that is at a great location! We had an 'economic room' which was wonderfully clean and reasonably priced considering the expensive area prices. What was really worth mentioning, was the friendly hospitality of the owner/chef and the hostess/reception. The first evening I ate one of the most delicious 'zwiebel roastbraten' in years (and we were in Germany for 4 years....). Also on our departure day we left too early for our stomachs to have breakfast... We were allowed to take our delicious fresh breakfast including fresh eggs with us for 'on the road'. At the last minute, the owner put a small jar of homemade strawberry jam in my hand! I tell you that I would have driven back weekly if it wasn't 1000 km.... I've never eaten such delicious strawberry jam! So its clear I would absolutely go back here.

Very kind approach, friendly atmosphere and good services in general. Owners and staff were helpful to our requirements regarding our baby (less than 2 years). Beautiful place. Spent my 30th birthday here. The apartment was clean, tastefully decorated, and well equipped (everything a couple needs to cook and eat together). The hosts were communicative and helpful. The bread was 5/5. And the views are just out of this world. Thoroughly enjoyed losing ourselves up the path behind Salzburgalm that leads up into the mountains.

We had the absolute pleasure of staying at what can only be described as the best rental apartment in all of Germany. From the moment we arrived, we felt completely at home thanks to our incredible hosts, Benny and Svenja. Their warmth, attention to detail, and genuine hospitality made our stay unforgettable. The apartment is spotless, beautifully decorated, and thoughtfully designed to offer both comfort and style. Waking up to a breathtaking view of the mountains each morning was a dream, and evenings spent relaxing in the hot tub or unwinding in the private sauna made our stay feel truly luxurious. Benny and Svenja went above and beyond in every way—providing great local recommendations, checking in to make sure we were comfortable, and adding thoughtful touches that made our experience extra special. If you're visiting Germany and want a place that offers both heart and high-end comfort, look no further. We can’t recommend this gem enough and are already dreaming about our return. Thank you, Benny and Svenja, for creating such a magical retreat!

We came here after a visit to the Eagles nest (only 7 minute drive), and had one of the best evenings in a long time. First of all the restaurant has an amazing view and terras looking down the hills and village of Berchtesgaden (nice sunset). The food was even better then the view: fresh, home made in wich you can taste the passion and amazing flavour combinations. I highly recommend the chefs menu. The place is run by a sweet and genuine couple who clearly know what they are doing and understand food and hospitality. Pricing wise its super worth your money, not expensive at all for the high quality and hospitality you receive. We will definetly come back!!

What a venue! With the best hosts possible in Svenja and Benni who were fantastic at helping us organise our wedding. The venue was absolutely perfect and couldn’t have wished for a better day. Benni and Svenja put us in contact with some exceptional caterers. The views and scenery were sublime. Shout out to all the servers as well who were friendly and always keeping everyone hydrated ;). The rooms for all of our family were fantastic, so much so we are already planning a separate trip to stay again and so are other members of the wedding party. Excited also to now try their new restaurant. Thanks again for everything ❤️

As an American traveling all over Germany for 2 weeks, I can absolutely say the 4 days we stayed in Salzbergalm were the highlight of our entire vacation! Absolutely incredible rooms, beautiful views and it’s very easy to navigate to and from there, with plenty of parking. Thank you so much to the owners for giving myself and my family a trip we’ll never forget. The Wilshire/Callahan families.

The facility is situated on a high point above the town and the view is very impressive. The apartment itself is large and very functional. It feels new and well furnished. If you suffer from light in the morning, be sure to close the windows external shutters. The kitchen is fully equipped as well. There is a large supermarket just below the hill, 3 min from the apartment by car. The BF could be a bit more varied but that's a minor point.

Amazingly tasty food with friendly and attentive service, along with breathtaking views. We ate lunch here with our one year old and he especially loved the playground just outside the restaurant. We booked a table from the fork at 20:30. Having said that, the first thing we found out is that nothing is coming out of the kitchen after 21:00 so we had to settled for a two course meal. We had the steak-tatar, the wintersalat, and the two fish dishes availabel, trout and Cod. We thought that if the cook has such a strict times, the food at least will be nice. Well that was not the case. The tatar was nicest item, with its main problem the crunchy onions. The greens that came with the tatar were identical to the greens of the winter salat, so was the foam of the two fish. Lazy cooking that is. The Cod was from frozen and had a freezer dried flesh smell. The skin was not crunchy, but rubbery and the defreezing took the best out of the moisture of the fish. The trout below average. Overall this was a canteen food dressed up for a quality restaurant. Didn't worth the money.

If you are looking for a modern hotel in the south of Germany, this hotel might be for you. We had a duplex room which could sleep 4 people, had an amazing view of the surrounding mountains. There is a restaurant, a beer garden, swimming pool and two saunas for eating and relaxing. We had 2 nights which came with a free dinner and two free drinks, but you can dine from the menu too. Food is great, but nothing extraordinary. The place is dog friendly and you can take your furry friend to the restaurant and breakfast with you. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Would visit again should the opportunity arise.

Unbelievable experience at Solo Du. My wife was pregnant, and on short notice they modified the set menu specifically for her. We are by no means expert food critics, but we have been to multiple Michelin restaurants - this 1 star restaurant was better than the 2 star restaurants that we have been to. Extremely innovative and detail oriented team. Make your reservations now while you still can, these guys are on the way up.

Wow! We came to Berchtesgaden to enjoy a nice fire and some snow and found an absolute amazing dinner experience. Our service (thanks Martin) was equal to the whimsy and innovative dishes that delighted our tastebuds. We enjoyed the 5 course (with maybe a 6th snuck in there) but would have equally enjoyed the full 7 course. The wine pairing was spot on, and we really enjoyed Martin’s selections and enthusiasm for the pairings. Don’t miss this culinary delight tucked away in the beautiful mountains.
