The Crown & Anchor is a British pub in downtown Monterey with a central bar and outdoor seating. It has classic pub grub, international beers, and table service.
My wife and I spent 4 nights and 5 days in Monterey. We ate at Crown and Anchor three of those nights. Michael was our server the first night. He made great suggestions and is a human being with a great spirit. We had clam chowder all three nights (yum). We highly recommend the Cottage Pie, Fish and Chips, Sand Dabs, and Spicy Meatloaf. The atmosphere is awesome and the service is top notch. Cheers.

The cottage pie was delicious! I asked for extra gravy and they were happy to oblige. They have a large selection of English ales. The servers were kind and attentive. Prices are appropriate. Decor is maybe a little kitchie but not stuffy. It was a great evening!

Absolutely amazing food. Our waiter David didn’t seem to care for us too much and didn’t know how to pour water properly, consistently splashing the table, but the nice blue haired waitress helped us out some to compensate. But again, the food was absolutely incredible, particularly the chicken pie that we ordered, as well as the potato wedge appetizers. We’d come back! Edit: came back the next day, food was still absolutely phenomenal and the service was much better too! The waitress Cayla was personable and provided great service.

I was in town with family and stopped here to eat and this place was great. The atmosphere was amazing, the food was delicious and the service was awesome. If you are in town check this place out! 💥

Stopped in here for a beer, very nice staff. Delicious food and great decor. I will say their sprite taste super crisp! We enjoyed our time and the atmosphere! Definitely recommend stopping by!

Cool little pub hidden in a side street. Has a lovely little outdoor space where I say and enjoyed a Guinness on tap and chips. I look forward to returning to try more stuff! Service was super friendly and prompt, to boot.

Best value and best vibe😍The biggest seafood plate you can get with the price. Highly recommended!

Atmosphere: 10/10 - service was amazing and food was tasty. I had the fish and chips and my partner had the burger. The cod was very flaky and cooked just right. My partners burger was delicious and bigger than we expected. We will definitely be back when we’re in town again and would recommend!

Nestled in the heart of downtown Monterey, Cibo Ristorante Italiano is a delightful blend of casual elegance and vibrant atmosphere. This beloved local gem not only serves up innovative Italian cuisine but also offers an enchanting backdrop with live jazz, soul, and funk music almost every night. The ambiance is further enhanced by the nearby Pearl Hour cocktail bar, where you can enjoy live performances on select nights alongside exciting events like DJ sets and burlesque shows.
We came in around 9pm and the restaurants kitchen just closed. The server was kind enough to take the time if the kitchen can accommodate and they did. Everything in the menu sounded delicious so had ravioli and a hallow string pasta. I don’t recall the names of the dish nor do I have a picture as we devoured it. The bread was also delicious, we had an olive oil/vinaigrette dip for the bread. Bread was fresh crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Ambiance was great! Live jazz music, great fresh food, and service was great. Would def come back! Prices are on the higher end but worth it!

you can find some great plates here. Tasty and delicious, almost like italian real food.
Luca M — Google review
Absolutely the worst place in town. First we were served somebody else’s order. Once we go that returned, I ordered the bell. The sauce was a sweet tomato syrup the veal was just store bought frozen beef. My wife ordered a clam chowder which we had to return because it was so terrible and watery. She ordered a pasta salad that was boiled pasta on a plate with nothing. The food is overpriced and the service is terrible. The plates were worn and dirty. Would not recommend.
Suraj K — Google review
I stopped by this Italian restaurant while passing through. We had some appetizers, looked over the menu, enjoyed some wine and water; the service was excellent. I tried their fried artichokes, which were delicious, and the fried calamari, also very good. The food looked exquisite, everything cooked with clean oil and a perfect deep fry. Normally when I eat fried food I sometimes run into unpleasant surprises, but this place was truly spotless. Even the bathroom was very clean. The restaurant has a nice setting, everything looked super tidy and well-kept. I really liked this place and would definitely recommend it. If you ever visit Downtown Monterey, this restaurant will surely be to your liking.

I went during their happy hour and got a beer and the fried cheese ravioli and they were delicious! They have a great happy hour deal. Bartender was super nice and checked on me often and updated me on my food progress. Would definitely recommend.
Callie B — Google review
This was the funniest experience I've had in a restaurant, I felt like I was in a Steve Martin movie....think past with strawberry pasta lol. Then the waiter disappears because he's afraid we will complain about the dish again. The drink was watered down, at the end of dinner rap/hip hop music was playing and we were told the place morphes into a nightclub later at night. So, bottom line: they own a Italian restaurant but can't cook bolognese meat sauce but will play rap music for you ... I felt vindicated when I brought the tea cup home as they never came back to check on us Hahahaha
Adriana J — Google review
Garrett was an attentive & proactive server. We'd previously lived here, and flew in to visit our old haunts. This was our second choice for a restaurant; thank God the Crown & Anchor was closed. Garrett made our lunch. We ordered the crab cakes, calamari, clam chowder, poké, and chicken alfredo. We ordered 2 glasses of the napa sauv blanc, and a glass of the paso chard.
Bryant C — Google review
We remember this as a wonderful Italian restaurant, we we told new owners, the worst Food, Calamari was like rubber bands!!! Pasta was just as bad , we will never forget how bad the food was! Our waiter was constantly yelling at other waiters , telling them what they did wrong! It was like a side show, there was only 5 tables with guests , the restaurant was empty @6:30 , red flag

Restaurant
Peter B’s Brewpub is a popular spot in Monterey, known for its craft beer and delicious American bar bites. It has been serving locals and visitors for over 20 years, offering a seasonal menu with locally sourced ingredients. The brewpub boasts an in-house brewery where you can watch the brewmaster at work while enjoying their exclusive beers such as pilsner, seven-malt stout, and hefeweizen.
Not so hidden, but tucked away sports bar, brew pub and family eatery. I guess it's part of the Portola Hotel. From the lobby, out the large doors to the north then left right away. Can't miss it if you've gotten this far. Newly remodeled, so less charm, but makes up for it with shiny cleanliness and sparkle which is getting harder to find. Walls of TVs and there was live music when we were there. The space probably wasn't designed for live music, but I know it's a draw for others. Front, wait and bar staff were friendly and did an excellent job serving our table. Attentive without hovering. Basic sports bar menu done with a few extras and done better than most similar eateries. We were all satisfied with burgers, sandwiches, pizza and a couple salads which we shared. The crispy n fried items weren't too heavy and the food itself was quality cuts and selections. We're not drinkers but the others in the restaurant seemed pleased. I'm sure the other reviews will chime in. We'll be back. If you're in the area for a few days I'd put it on your list when everyone in your group wants something different from each other.

The food quality has improved since the remodel and menu revamp. The shrimp ceviche and crispy cheese curds were delicious, especially accompanied by a craft beer. The pepperoni pizza was average and a little too pricey in my opinion. The family missed the old look since it had more character compared to the new sterile look. The popcorn machine will be missed since it’s the first thing my little ones noticed was absent. Overall, better quality food, good service, but poorly executed decor.
Gduartejc — Google review
Love their food and the service was outstanding. So I went back there last Friday after the reopening, their amber ale was chill and amazing. Then, I went back again on Monday and their beer was less chilled... that is why I take one star off for the review. Their nachos was great and totally loved their shrimp ceviche. Well, I am coming back this Friday and we will see the temp for my beer.

I dined here with my lady last night and the food was absolutely phenomenal. We were dined by Spencer and the rest of his team were very helpful as well. Spencer made sure to greet us, offer us drinks , and answer any questions we had. We had a couple of appetizers which were the eggplant and then the ahi ahi which was also mentioned by Spencer. We got Blood Orange drinks ( non-alcoholic) and they were really good and refreshing. For our entrees we got a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato bisque and prime rib Chili with Jalapeno cornbread. All the food was very delicious, the seasonings were something I've never experienced personally. The staff were all very polite and on it. I would definitely recommend stopping by if you are in the area. We will be back again in the near future. Thank you all 🙏.

Nice hole in the wall type sports bar restaurant. The service was excellent, wait staff were attentive but not so overly attentive that it was a bother. One of the only places I can recall the wait staff actually waited until we didn’t have our mouth full of food to talk to us. Could have been the timing, but after 2 or 3 times checking I doubt it. I got the sly signature burger. Food was excellent, seasoned properly and it came to me cooked like I asked- burger medium rare, egg over hard no runny yolk. Actually the only establishment to cook as asked on our trip to Monterey.
Adam V — Google review
Located just outside of the Portola Hotel and Spa, and offered both indoor and outdoor dining. Loved the relaxed atmosphere and live music. Our waitress was incredibly nice, but maybe a little too comfortable. She was at our table for longer conversations than we had energy for and if we hadn’t been traveling all day, we might have felt differently about it. She even stayed to watch us try a dish then lingered for more conversation. She later placed a hand on my daughter’s back, which we recognize is a way of communication for some people, but it made my daughter uncomfortable. The restaurant had an extensive list of beers so I ordered a flight of catrina, no maiden, sakura and spice lab 4. Of the 4, I liked Sakura the most and spice lab the least. We ordered their Kobe sliders, clam chowder, California club and shrimp ceviche. The Kobe sliders weren’t spectacular, but they tasted good. Juicy and seasoned. The clam chowder looked and tasted like prepackaged soup. I guess I expected better given the area we were in. The California club was the winning dish. The bread was lightly toasted, but still soft and ingredients tasted fresh. The shrimp ceviche was”wow” and not in a good way. Overall, the dish needed seasoning and heat. The sliced radish tasted as though it was pickled in dish water. One bite and whole dish was ruined. We paid $115.87 with tip which was incredibly reasonable, but don’t think we would make a return visit.

Brought my family of 5 here for lunch today! Great place to watch sports and is family friendly. New remodel is first class and extremely clean. Waitress and manager were on top of any need we may have had. Every item of food we ordered was excellent and kids approved as well. Beer selection was good and bar was top notch. Dessert time came and we couldn’t make up our mind, manager comped us the skillet chocolate chip cookie and vanilla ice cream. Tremendous! Don’t sleep on this place it is a hidden gem just steps away from the wharf. Leaps and bounds cleaner than any restaurant on the wharf so it’s wife approved! Will for sure return whenever I’m in the area. Thank you again Peter b’s! 👍👍
Brett M — Google review
Was expecting much better. Great bar for watching sports. Great service too. However, both the beer and food should be in the penalty box. I had 2 different lagers and both lacked flavor and any depth. The brussel sprouts, which are staple these days, sounded good but came out like the beer, lacking flavor. The salmon was excellent. For much better beer and food and multiple TVs, go to Alvarado Street Brewery a block away.

Alvarado Street Brewery is a community institution with three outposts offering award-winning craft beer and elevated pub eats. The Carmel location at Carmel Plaza features a large patio where dogs are welcome, while the Monterey beer garden space is popular for both humans and their furry friends. In Salinas, the airy working brewery welcomes dogs and rotating food trucks.
The staff was very friendly and the food came out in a very timely manner. We shared the pretzels for appetizer, and for the skirt steak sandwich and fish and chips. The skirt steak was the star of the show it was spicy yet super flavorful! The fish and chips had a beer batter it was very good. The fries addicting crunchy. We had so much fun and enjoyed all the food! Would recommend

Can't recommend this place enough. From being greeted by the hostess to being seated. Our service was amazing and attentive. There are plenty of beer choices. As you will see in the pictures from a dark brown to a hef. The wings are smoked with a dry rub. I can't explain the flavor except unique. The wings were huge. The pan pizza had a baked crisped top and was combined with a pan style

There is indoor and outdoor seating which is fantastic if you want to enjoy the crisp outdoors. This place truly has options for everyone. We opted for a couple orders of the fish and chips, tuna sandwich and wings. The fish was great and fries have good flavor.

Lively atmosphere. Waitress smiling and helpful. I was not real hungry on arrival so I ordered "off" menu. She assisted in ordering a chicken with mixed veggies. It was a perfect meal. He ordered the chicken wings, spicy but tasty. Highly recommend for a beverage and/ or bite to eat.

This spot really has it all ! We couldn’t get even get a reservation from the day before because they are always so busy ! It was first come first serve - and thank goodness we found a spot for our party of ten . The food was delicious and the service was great !! We all ordered different dishes and all of it hit the spot!! It was a treat vibe - great atmosphere. My salmon fish was delicious and the mushroom bar pie was my favorite !!!

Such a good little brewery tucked into Downtown. Inside it was very cute but just crowded, they have seating outside in the back like a mini beer garden, so we sat out there and it was so beautiful and chill. They also have outside seating at the front of the building but I believe that is apart of the wait staff. They had a good selection of menu items, we didn’t eat so I cannot give comment on food. But drink wise, I got the Hibiscus Passionfruit cider which was so light and refreshing- not too many bubbles/fizzy. Overall great little space !

Brittany is a gem. Knows the menus, wants guests to feel comfortable. Very helpful, very welcoming. While training a new human who was also very lovely and immediately offered to help accommodate my suitcases fresh from the airport. Lovely welcome to town, thank you! The beer is also delicious, and the food, but service today won out.

We had dinner at this restaurant in Monterey and tried the calamari and the burger. Both were really good, but the burger was outstanding – juicy, full of flavor, and perfectly cooked. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, and it’s a great spot to enjoy good food with friends. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in town!

Turn 12 Bar & Grill is a popular spot in downtown Monterey, offering a casual dining experience with a vintage raceway theme. The restaurant features a spacious open room with a 50-foot pewter bar and large-screen TVs, making it perfect for group meals or catching the game. The menu offers diverse options including salads, pasta, burgers, and pizza.
Turn 12 is awesome. If you’re into racing or just like cool spots, this place is worth checking out. They’ve got old racing motorcycles and car parts all over the place—it’s like a mini motorsport museum with a bar in the middle of it. The bar is huge, with tons of space and a great drink selection. The bartender was super friendly and made us feel right at home. The food was solid too—big portions and really tasty. Definitely the kind of place where you don’t leave hungry. All in all, Turn 12 has a great vibe, cool decor, and good food and drinks. I’ll definitely be back.
James P — Google review
First time dining here, I loved the beautiful, tranquil atmosphere with the carefully low volume music setting the mood. I had the Chicken Parmesan, it was tender and the spaghetti was perfect being al dente, not mushy or over cooked This is an adult dining place at night and I felt very relaxed here. The staff was friendly and although the main bar area was active, I was in the back area of the restaurant and it was isolated to the front area. I highly recommend Turn 12, the menu is not large but, not small and reasonably priced for Monterey and has a vast selection of entrees and drinks for everyone
Joel — Google review
We showed up with a party of 18 and talk about looking a gift horse in the mouth. We brought in over $600 in revenue and really felt like we were a burden on the restaurant. And truth be told, we're not that demanding at all. So maybe we caught them off guard but the place wasn't bubbling with customers. Don't want to do any damage or drive people away. Food was good service was generally OK but want the business to know that people skills are important. Service was generally good but again make me feel appreciated and not like I'm a pain in your ass.

🫶A great atmosphere with warm lighting with sophisticated artwork of cars 🚘 and motorcycles 🏍 and parts displayed all around to add to the phenonemonal experience. The ⭐️⭐️ pizzas 🍕 and ⭐️⭐️desserts were delicious! (Pesto Chicken & Meatsa Pizza/ Chocolate Mousse & Carrot Cake❤️). However, I was disappointed with the 👎 linguini with clams and garlic bread. It was beautiful with fresh tomatoes, tons is clams around the dish and throughout the dish, with a lemon slice. It was tasteless and disappointing! The spectacularly delicious desserts make up for only 1 of 4 disappointing meals. Overall, it is a GREAT EXPERIENCE! 🙌👏🫶

Absolutely love Turn 12 Bar & Grill! 🍕🍻 They have a great bar with awesome drinks, super tasty pizza, and such a friendly, welcoming vibe. The staff are always smiling and make you feel right at home. If you’re ever in Monterey, this place is a must-visit—you won’t be disappointed! 🙌

Really unique restaurant. The menu is creative but execution and flavors could be a little better. The margarita came in a martini glass which was strange but it was STRONG so that made up for it. Definitely worth the visit if you're in the area and enjoy motorsports.
Ana M — Google review
If I could give more than five stars, I would…Turn 12 Bar & Grill is absolutely outstanding! From the moment you walk in, you know you’re in for a special evening. The racing-themed décor…vintage motorcycles, historic motorsport memorabilia, and that custom pewter bar top with tire tread detail—sets a fun, energetic tone. The menu is superb. There’s something for everyone…juicy steaks, perfectly cooked pasta, crisp salads, creative pizzas, and exceptional bar fare. Everything I tried was fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. The service matched the food…the staff is warm, attentive (without being overbearing), and clearly passionate about making the experience great. Ambience? Spot on. Whether you’re there for brunch with friends, dinner, or a late-night bite, the vibes are just right…relaxed but lively, polished but approachable. The location is convenient, with indoor and patio seating, and the place feels just as inviting during a casual meal as it does for a fun night out. Overall, Turn 12 Bar & Grill is one of those gems that delivers on every level: food, service, atmosphere, and value. Highly recommended if you’re in Monterey…don’t miss this one. Five stars well earned.

The bar Dust Bowl Brewing Co. Tap Depot is a great spot to stop for a beverage in between places on your drive down the coast. The tap house has high beer selection and does not serve food, but they do have a taco truck that is always there for hungry drinkers to take advantage of. It's located in an old train depot and has plenty of outside seating where you can enjoy the coastal views while sipping on your favorite libation.
We first looked for a dog friendly brewery that allowed indoor seating and outside especially after it was raining. Workers were 10/10 the food was excellent and the workers here were very welcoming and accommodating. Not only that but our pup got so much love from staff and customers here. In my opinion all the beer we had was 10/10. Not one single beer was bad today. Will 100% be back with some friends that live all the way in the Bay Area.

This food truck is the only food available at Dust bowl brewing. The pulled pork is generous in size and flavor with a Cole slaw dressing and a side of crispy French fries. The taco are served in flavorful corn 🌽 soft taco shells. The chicken is superb and the fish is just as awesome Inside Dust Bowl Brewing with shared picnic tables in uncovered patio next to the brewing company full bar and cooler beverages Menu is light brown on beige, fairly legible Accessible entry and venue access. Accessible mens and women's restrooms with 2 grab bars and adequate space. Van accessible free parking in front of brewing company.

The brewery was not that busy because we were there during a weekday. The guy that served us was really friendly and the atmosphere was good. The only bad part was that they didn’t have any food. There was a taco truck out back but it was not very good. The beer was pretty good. I got a quadruple ale 🍺 named “The dump truck of the gods!” It was really strong which I like but I got a migraine afterwards! I felt like the dump truck ran me over! Just one glass. The beer was ok but not the best. The atmosphere was go up to the bar open a tab and start drinking. That’s it. I think that the place would make a killing if they just offered food to complement the beer.

I enjoy stopping by this bar when I’m out for a bike ride. Their product offering is good and always consistent. The staff are good and one of the guys who run the place is always telling the patrons he appreciates them. The atmosphere is great too, patrons are chill with comfortable indoor and outdoor seating. I am unsure why there is a hostess upfront, slightly confusing and if they want someone to check IDs they should have a doorman, those women don’t deserve the hassle. The food truck is unfortunately not consistent, but that’s an outside vendor - when I order, I always get the fish tacos, sometimes they are good and sometimes they are disappointing. All in all a great place to frequent.

EXCELLENT beers, service, food truck food. Over 20 beers on tap, lengthy IPA list. Many different IBU & ABV values, tropical, bitter, fruity, strong, session, everything. Tasters, flights, and different size beers on tap as well as growler fills and many canned beers to go. Great near Fisherman’s Wharf by the waterfront and cheap parking. On-site Wedo’s Food truck has GREAT tacos; I had the chicken and also the fish (the BEST) and some chicken nachos = all very good. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This brewery is a fantastic spot for beer lovers! The IPAs were excellent, with a rich and flavorful selection, and their extensive collection has something for everyone. We also enjoyed their flavored ciders, which were a refreshing change of pace. The atmosphere is relaxed, making it a great place to hang out with friends. There’s plenty of parking available, which is super convenient. Overall, a great place to unwind and enjoy some high-quality brews!

Cocktail bar
Alfredo's Cantina is a hidden gem in downtown Monterey, offering a cozy and unassuming atmosphere that attracts both locals and visitors. The bar's simple philosophy of providing good drinks and a good time resonates with patrons who appreciate its dive bar charm. With its cash-only policy, the establishment maintains an old-school vibe, but there's an ATM available for convenience. While they don't serve food, customers can order from a nearby eatery for delivery.
I'll start off by saying I love dive bars. So naturally, Alfredos is my type of bar. It's a cash only bar with an ATM inside. They don't serve any type of food. They do, however, have a menu from a business that's right across the street. They do deliver! Awesome! Bartender and company are very friendly! 5 stars from me! Cheers!
Julio V — Google review
Small little bar with a very lively atmosphere. Nice people and a very cool bartender. Only complaint is that it's cash only but that's not a problem since they do have an ATM inside. Cool spot!
Andrew_lop3z — Google review
I always like hitting local spots when I travel, typically the best bar I hit on a trip is a local dive bar. Alfredo's is definitely a cool dive bar, but that is where it ends. The bar tender was by far the most unfriendly, rude, and impatient bartender I have experienced. I visit an obsene amount of bars, and the people I was with all agree. I am guessing if you are not a regular steer clear.
Stephen C — Google review
Terrible experience with the bartender here. I ordered just two beers, and the bartender was incredibly rude throughout the interaction. To top it off, they blatantly asked for a tip, even though they did nothing to deserve one. I was shocked by the lack of basic customer service. Definitely won’t be coming back! I spent $14 on two Corona limes and he refused to continue service due to me not tipping immediately. Ironically, I tip at the end based on quality.
Robert M — Google review
The bartender behaved unprofessionally, preventing patrons from having conversations and enjoying themselves. Our group was effectively pushed out due to what appeared to be his personal resentment. To make matters worse, he refused to let us back in to retrieve a sweater that had been left behind—a sentimental item with personal value—and even locked the back door to prevent any attempt to recover it. When we returned the next day to retrieve the sweater, we spoke with the bartender and confronted him about his rude and unprofessional treatment of our group. He offered no reasonable justification for his rash behavior and continued to display a dismissive and uncooperative attitude.
P C — Google review
After 7 years of traveling the world, this prompted me to leave my first review ever. This bar refused service to me (a white passing POC$) because I was with 4 other people of color. I was let in as a solo person, only to see my 3 friends left outside. I went to join them, and was told me and my friends were too drunk to enter, despite me being let in beforehand. Please avoid this racist bar!!!! Once again, I’ve partied and drank and the top bars across the most popular cities across 10+ countries and never felt as much discrimination as this bar. Choose any other on Monterey and you’ll have a great night!
Jayson C — Google review
I came through here as a recommendation from the last brewery I went to prior, and it really is a nice, dimly lit dive bar-- the kind where locals actually frequent. It's cash-only but that's hardly an inconvenience (there's an ATM in here) and much like the name suggests, it's really just a watering hole to hang out at in between your other destinations around the area. The jukebox has some classics to get you bobbing your head and, being a solo traveler, the fireplace kept good enough company for me to rest from exploring.

Great bar! Vibes on the inside with a stage for live music, etc., cozy spacious outdoor patio with fire pits and pop up food truck. They do zodiac-inspired cocktails! Will definitely come back for the monthly drag shows.

This place was pretty nice. Staff was very friendly and helpful being a new visitor ☺️ awesome bartender last night. The jazz music was great too and wasn't all that bad for covering charge for the band. David was awesome at his drinks and the menu is fantastic!!

Great ambiance and drinks here. I had the American Psycho and he had the Cherry Coke Float. Both very good. The bartender was kind and personable. They have an outdoor area as well, and live music on Sunday and Wednesday nights. Definitely check it out.

Been going here for the past 5 years. Best creative cocktails, service and atmosphere in Monterey. Pearl Hour has live music almost every night of the week..jazz every Sunday and Wednesday. I often take visitors here. You won’t be disappointed!

Good spot to hang. Plenty of young people and it's lively on a Saturday night. Make sure you get here early cause seats are hard to get and they switch the menu to handle the crowd. They have events as well, check their website. Menu is easy to read and plenty of choices. Best spot for cocktail.

Great speakeasy vibe with couches and candlelight inside and an outside seating area with a huge firepit! The bathrooms were clean and it was a really relaxing atmosphere! The staff and patrons were friendly and kind!

Hula's Island Grill is a tropical, tiki-inspired restaurant located in Monterey, California. The restaurant offers a variety of Hawaiian dishes with an American twist, along with a selection of drinks. While not entirely vegan, Hula's Island Grill provides several excellent vegan options and is accommodating to modifications.
We have been to Hula's several times and will definitely be back. The staff are generally very friendly and accommodating. One waitress was particularly thoughtful when she realized we were vegetarians, which we really appreciated. The food is absolutely delicious and there are many vegetarian options. We can particularly recommend the bowls (Buddha and Jungle) and the cakes and pies (Key Lime and Passion Fruit).

Absolutely amazing food! I’m celiac and the waitress was so kind to help me with GF options and do some changes to items which were not GF from the start. The food was fresh and delicious! Tons of vegan GF options too. The backyard is super cute and cozy. We felt so welcomed and left with fully happy bellies.

The vegetarian in our group had the Kona chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. She loved the sandwich and the fries! My gluten free had the grass skirt burger with sweet potatoes fries. She also loved her meal. I had the Hula burger with cheddar and house fries. Mine was great we all mentioned how fresh and delicious the bread was. The atmosphere is fun and island “y” I had a ginger beer and my friend had a mai tai and enjoyed it. We are so glad we stopped in!

Was recommend to this place by a local and we are so happy we listened. Perfect spot for vegans and vegetarians/ health minded individuals. Service was fast and the food was fresh, delicious, and filling. I got the Buddha Bowl and an arugula salad - the bowl was loaded with fresh veggies and the tofu and ponzu saude we so crispy and delicious. The arugulua salad was also quite tasty. Highly recommend!

Tasty drinks and appetizers at great happy hour prices! The wings were some of the best we have ever had and are one of the happy hour options. I went in planning to only have one drink but ended up with a second one after my first one was so delicious. Really nice friendly employees. Positive vibes. We look forward to our next visit.

Great food, and great atmosphere. We had a lemongrass encrusted halibut, macadamia nut encrusted halibut and southern seas tacos - all very tasty, but lemongrass encrusted halibut is just superb. Make sure to try the lilikoi pie, it's so yummy!

The tables were somewhat crowded, being too close to each other. However, the decor was charming. I ordered the Hawaiian soup with fish, shrimp, and coconut milk with lemongrass. Guests can enjoy a luxurious breakfast at Schooners Coastal Kitchen, with options ranging from oysters on the half shell to Dungeness crab Benedict and oak smoked salmon & avocado toast. The sardine factory is incredible. One of the best meals we have ever had. We came to celebrate our 4 year anniversary and we couldn’t have picked a better spot. We had an exceptional experience at the Sardine Factory! Don was attentive and Pedro made sure our table stayed cleaned and cups refreshed. The lobster with stuff crab had me tickled with joy! My husband had the rib eye and ate eagerly and quietly as he stuffed it down. We also loved the escargot as it melted in our mouth. This was our 20yr wedding anniversary and it was perfect! Can't wait to come back 🙏

Had great experience at the sardine factory! The food was amazing! Specially the steak was so so good and everything was so fresh and well seasoned. The service was very friendly. It made our dining experience present and comfortable. Thanks to Jimmy the manager and then the owner. We also hung out at the bar area for live piano music, and that was amazing and had so much fun. Must try spot if anyone is visiting the area! Thanks for making our visit memorable!

First I have to say service here was so good. Brandon really took care of us. He was really knowledgeable and had a great attitude and not just with us. With everyone around us too. He is damn good at his job. The food was amazing. Clam chowder was different. But it had good flavor and served hot. The Cesar salad with sardines was great. Crunchy lettuce and salted fish. Im not a huge fan of sardines but that salad had flavors that worked together. Sea bass and lobster fettuccine were on point and cooked perfectly. The fresh bread was hot and fluffy. The grilled prawns were big and seasoned great. The Kahlua cinnamon gelato was rich and delicious. It has a coffee chocolate taste to it. We loved it. It is pricey. But the quality of the food is worth it. Parking sucks. But not impossible. I Definitely want to go back. The decor was cute and all the servers were nice, fast and efficient.

I celebrated one of the most memorable birthdays of my life at this restaurant. From start to finish, everything was simply outstanding. The evening began with a warm and personal welcome from the owner, who greeted us kindly knowing we had come all the way from Switzerland. The food was exquisite a perfectly prepared seabass and lobster tail, followed by homemade sorbet beautifully presented in an ice swan sculpture, and rounded off with a rich chocolate cake and tiramisu that were both divine. Every dish was a masterpiece. The service was flawless every waiter attended to us with genuine care and professionalism from A to Z. To crown the evening, the manager personally took us on a private wine cellar tour, showing us rare old wines, rums, and antique furniture. It was a unique and unforgettable experience. It is no wonder that many famous personalities have dined here. For us, it was truly one of the most beautiful birthdays we could imagine. This restaurant is highly recommended, and we will always treasure the memory and definitely return.

As we were in the area for our 55th anniversary and with some very good friends who had never been to the Sardine Factory, we had to go. The Sardine Factory is always very good. Made the reservation online, very easy. The service is always top notch. Very attentive, friendly, courteous, professional. We ordered of the small bites menu and it was perfect. Started with oysters Rockefeller, which were delicious. Two in our group had the Ribeye steak sandwich with onion rings and French fries and came with a wedge salad, they said it was very good, delicious and excellent. Another had the calamari and it also was very good. We all highly recommend the Sardine Factory if you are looking for an excellent meal, top quality service, in a great setting.

What an incredible place to celebrate success! We gathered to honor the top agents of Century 21 Showcase Realtors, and the celebration did not disappoint. We had the pleasure of reserving the beautiful Steinbeck Room, where Bert Cutino shared the fascinating story behind its name—adding a personal and memorable touch to the evening. From the perfectly cooked filet mignon that melted in your mouth to the decadent crème brûlée, every detail of the meal was outstanding. A truly unforgettable night recognizing excellence, connection, and community. Did I mention the amazing piano player that kept us entertained with his renditions...

Was looking foreword to this place after all the great reviews. The service was spotty, we had four different people waiting on us “who each managed to forget parts of our order” the calamari appetizer was good and our mains were just okay “$20 kobe burger was unremarkable although it was edible” you can see for yourself by the pictures and decide if you would pay $70 for it! The highlight was going to Revival ice cream afterward!

Excellent service and drinks. Came here for my fiance's birthday after we couldn't find anything in Carmel open after 10pm on a Thursday. Excellent drink menu..strawberry margarita was superb. Blue-cheese steak bites were to die for. They even had cotton candy for his birthday...all at 11pm on a Thursday...thank.you!

Our experience here was very pleasant. We made a reservation early in the day for that same night, and so we had no problems getting a table. That turned into a great decision, because right after we sat down at our table, a huge line formed. (It was around 7 P.M.) We shared one of their burgers, a side of clam chowder, and an order of their duck oil fries. Everything was delicious, however the burger was a little more pink than we wanted as we ordered it well done (it was still perfectly edible though.) The server we had was a little slow to refill our drinks, but it wasn't an awful long wait. The prices are very reasonable for the area and surrounding restaurants. I have been to several others within the immediate vicinity and they can easily become very expensive. All in all, my recommendation is to check this place out!

Fun vibe at this British pub, serving traditional pub food. Voted best Fish & Chips for multiple years, they make a delicious steak and potato pastie topped with gravy, served with mashed potatoes and very fresh veggies. Other offerings are bangers and mash, cottage pie, chicken pot pie, a curry dish, burgers and lots of fresh fish options. Toffee pudding cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream was so yummy! Don't forget a pint of Guinness with your meal! Inside is a true English pub, outside patio dining is nice too, with heaters, overlooking the marina.

A cold, rainy afternoon in Monterey couldn’t keep me away from visiting this beer garden. Despite this location being outdoors, despite the elements, and despite me being the only beer-a-holic brave enough to withstand the storm, I did not have a bad time. After ordering a Doomsday Protocol Triple IPA (10% ABV!!), I sat under the covered portion of the patio and listened to the rain. They were thoughtful enough to have the patio heaters running, which just made my experience that more cozy. The staff was awesome as always. Friendly, quick, and sincere with her conversation. Restrooms were clean. They had a limited amount of merchandise available, but quite a few canned selections ready to take home. I chose Fast Food French Toast Imperial Stout (13% ABV!!). I also enjoyed the triple IPA so much, I grabbed a growler for later. This location is absolutely kid friendly. As for pets, they have a water dish available and dog treats! Did I mention that they have QR codes at the tables for easy ordering? Fantastic little spot that gets lively in the evenings and on the weekends. And their beers are delicious. If you’ve never tried one of their parfait beers, you don’t know what you’re missing. Flights available as well.

This is one of my two favorite taphouses in the entire world. We first visited (every night) in 2021 during the Indy race at Laguna Seca. Once again, this was an every night stop this past week where we made sure we tried everything on tap at least once. This time (I cant recall it from last time), they had suggested flights available. We tried both the Fieldworks Flight (6 or 7 times) and the Hoppy Flight (2-3 times). My friend liked the Vox Pop best while I was partial to the Salted Watermelon Gose and the Velvet Stout. An option this time was to get some cans made up, which we then took away for beer at the track. Love the outdoor patio, where you can bring your own food and it's dog friendly which is always a plus. I recognized the servers and several of the patrons so it has some serious return business. It isn't possible to go to Monterey and not stop here, repeatedly. They need to fix the fireplace heater :). but otherwise everything was perfect.

Carbone's is a charming hidden gem located in the Lighthouse District near Monterey Bay. The friendly staff prioritize excellent service, even greeting patrons with a handshake. Whether you choose to sit inside and enjoy the pool table and dart boards or opt for the multi-level deck with a fire pit outside, Carbone's offers a relaxed atmosphere perfect for mingling with locals over affordable drinks.
A great hole in the wall bar. Pool table, beer pong tables, foosball, giant connect four, chutes and ladders, and even more games. A couch for relaxing and the best bartender in town. Cash only but can't wait to come back.

My husband and I just live this place. We had several cocktails and hung out for several hours. The place had a good vibe, nice people and it felt comfortable. Awesome pin ball machines and great music. It will remain a spot we always visit when in Monterey.

Great local "dive" bar with Cleveland roots. I was in town for work for 3 days, 2 out of 3 evenings were spent relaxing here and drinking with locals. I can't wait to come back, hopefully during football season to cheer on the Browns!

Very unique experience in Monterey. The bar tender is super chill. Cash only. You can play beer pong in the back, or pool in the front, or darts...the options are pretty much endless. The beer selection is great. Minus one star for being a bit dirty.

I was there during 7-9 on a Friday evening and missed the evening rush. If you want a relaxed placed to drink and talk with your friends after work in Monterey Lighthouse area, this is a decent place. Service was great. I can't say how this place becomes late night.

Great local dive bar with games and music. A great outside patio with a fire pit for some good chill time with the buds and a drink. Good selection of brews on tap and in the bottle with good and fun rotating specials!

Love the drinks and staff . The atmosphere is really good. this is the only bar in the neighborhood i go to and really only when I have friends in town but I love this place. Parking can be a little tough but that doesn't matter when you get an uber like you should ;)
Trevor L — Google review
It's a dive bar, but the drinks are overpriced and it gets douchey in a heartbeat when the military crowd comes on the weekends. Pool table is reasonably priced and darts are free. Outdoor patio is nice with cornhole (but boards are too close together to play a challenging game). $1 per song on the jukebox is not OK. This place sucks compared to Alfredo's, the best dive bar in Monterey (Sportsman's and Shadow Box, in Seaside, are also fun).

Great place to watch NFL games (especially for Buffalo Bills Fans). Lovely brunch menu, they also have a bottomless mimosa special. they open at 9am on Sunday’s during football season. Dogs are allowed inside restaurant.

Your average local sports bar. Nothing fancy. TV’s, pub food, locals… Very bright inside like you’re in a hospital. The vibe couldn’t use a little tweaking. Wings make the top 10 list. Nachos are ok… menu has change since 2023. Key items like scotch eggs and fried pickles are gone :( Beer prices are best during happy hour, outside of that you’ll be paying top dollar PG prices of $8-$9 a draft (which is crazy compared to East Coast prices of $2-$3 a draft).
S P — Google review
We have always loved going to the Bulldog when we are in town. It was a favorite spot for our family to go. We had not been in since Covid or since their remodel. The food was good. I did miss the mushy peas they use to serve with their fish and chips. My complaint was the service, it was nonexistent. We were not greeted or even acknowledged when we waked in. We just stood there for a few minutes waiting. We had to ask if we could seat ourselves. No one came to our table to take our order. We had to get their attention. I had to ask for a refill and ask for the check. If I were not an honest person we could have walked out without paying and probably gone unnoticed. If it had been busy then I would have been understanding but there were only a few people at the bar. Very disappointing!

Tuesdays are the best night to go for great service and to see many talented musicians Jam together that are local. They also have all the games on the tvs, darts, and pool. Drinks are a bit more expensive then other bars though.
Casey M — Google review
When it's busy, like on karaoke nights, service is very slow and good luck getting someone to come to the table to take your order. Not much for decor or ambience but quite a crowd on busy nights. Over all, i recommend for a nice evening out with friends.

0 stars would be most appropriate. I Came here with my family of 4, and didn’t see a server, just 4 or 5 people in the place, all at the bar. There was a basketball game so I started playing with the kids. After about 5 minutes with no server my wife asked if we wanted to go somewhere else. The kitchen put out a sandwich and the cook rang the bell. What I thought was one of the patrons, came over to pick it up. Turns out she was the server. She walked within 5 feet of me. My smile was not returned. She then proceeded to go sit down back at the bar and eat her sandwich. She gave me the evil eye while taking that bite of food. We decided to leave. She was pouring a drink behind the bar on our way out. For her, or a patron… I’m not sure.
Jessica R — Google review
I'd love to give my opinion of the place, but I can't, because they don't even pick up the phone. Ever. We're in Monterey all week, we tried to call to verify when karaoke night was cuz their (very poorly managed) social media accounts give wildly different information. Some posts say Monday, some say Thursday, and nobody's posted anything since August 4. It is August 25 as of this writing. Not once did anyone pick up the phone, in all the dozen or so times we called across multiple days, always during supposed business hours. I just got the same "we're sorry, the mobile number you're trying to reach is not available" every single time. I didn't want to go through the effort of getting ready to go out just on the off chance they might have the karaoke or live music I wanted, and I kinda don't feel like giving my patronage to a business that actively avoids talking to customers. Also, I know it's 2025, but registering a private mobile number for a brick and mortar business, especially one as public-facing as a bar, is just plain dumb.

Been in town a few days and decided to have our last night out at this beautiful sports pub! Lucky us, we showed up Tuesday night where the locals had a music mashup (live music). These folks on stage were absolutely talented, and with the already awesome atmosphere they carried the night out with great music and vibes! Tons of delicious beer on tap and food was fantastic! The fish and chips were fresh and the homemade tarter sauce was incredible! Thank you Bull Dogs Sports Pub and crew for a memorable visit. We are definitely coming back whenever we pass by again!

Really awesome place. The bartender that is normally there is really cool and can make some crazy drinks though I normally just go there for the $5 chimay during happy hour. They have one of the best happy hours around but it's small so good luck getting a seat at the bar.

Had a great dinner here, service was attentive, including the manager. Sea scallops, seared tuna, and various side veggies were beautifully prepared. The atmosphere is more on the old school side, which is to be expected around this part of town.

Nature & Parks
Monterey Bay Aquarium is a renowned attraction located on a rugged coastline, featuring diverse exhibits such as otter habitats and touch pools. Tim Thomas, an esteemed historian and curator, has been involved with the aquarium and other local institutions. Visitors can also enjoy a delightful breakfast at Schooners Coastal Kitchen while overlooking the bay, savoring dishes like Dungeness crab Benedict or oak smoked salmon & avocado toast. The aquarium offers an enriching experience for nature enthusiasts and families alike.
The Monterey Bay Aquarium is a fantastic place for kids to learn while having fun. From the moment we entered, the exhibits kept the children completely engaged. They were amazed by the colorful fish swimming all around and loved watching the playful penguins waddle and dive. The touch pool was a highlight—being able to gently touch a blue ray was both exciting and educational. Another favorite was the sea otters, who charmed everyone with their playful splashing and rolling in the water. The aquarium does a wonderful job of combining hands-on learning with entertainment, making it both fun and memorable for kids and adults alike. It’s the perfect place for families to explore the wonders of the ocean together.

Instantly a favorite. Purchased tickets online which made entry painless and quick. We loved all the unique exhibits. Every area of the aquarium had something different to offer, from art installations, kelp forrest, deep sea creatures, otters, outdoor area with seating, views and so much more. We loved that they sold snacks and beverages (alcoholic & non alcoholic). Passing time watching sea birds, listening to the ocean and searching for sea otters at their outdoor area was just blissful. The entire facility was absolutely beautiful. We paid $180 for our tickets and we definitely plan on returning.

My girls friends and I came into town and bought tickets in advance because we knew this was a must see and it did not disappoint. We started with the feeding of the sea otters which was so cute. Then we stopped for a quick coffee at the cafe. Everything in their cafe looked delicious. We enjoyed the many exhibits and enjoyed the touch tanks. There was do many things you could touch and see up close. I would highly recommend going. Couple tips buy your tickets online in advance and get there early it gets really crowded!

A man called Doug Doug recommended me to this place so I was in the area and decided to go. First of all the surrounding area was very nice there was a car show in the area so some luxury cars blessed my eyes. Now on to the aquarium beautiful place, there was a nice route to follow. The sea otters were definitely a highlight of my trip. In addition there was many interactive areas for children to use. Overall I was my favourite part about my trip to America. I would recommend anyone who is passing though the area to pop in and see this wonderful aquarium. Rest in peace Rosa the sea otter o7

The Monterey Bay Aquarium is an absolutely world-class institution that I believe is well worth the visit, offering a truly immersive window into the Pacific Ocean's ecosystems. I found that it excels not just as a display of marine life, but as a dedicated center for conservation and education. The standout exhibits, which I saw are beautifully maintained and thoughtfully designed, showcase the region's unique biodiversity. I think the Kelp Forest exhibit is a breathtaking, three-story spectacle, featuring towering fronds that create a dynamic, lush habitat for leopard sharks, wolf-eels, and schools of fish. Equally impressive to me is the massive Open Sea exhibit, where I was able to watch tuna, sea turtles, and dazzling schools of sardines swim past a spectacular 90-foot viewing window, which really emphasized the vastness of the open ocean. A newer, must-see addition is the Into the Deep exhibition, which successfully brings the mysterious creatures of the dark abyss to light. Beyond the major tanks, I noticed the Sea Otter exhibit is consistently a visitor favorite, allowing you to watch the playful, charismatic otters romp and groom. The mesmerizing Jellyfish exhibit was also an ethereal highlight for me, using controlled lighting to showcase the delicate beauty and graceful pulsing of various jelly species. The aquarium is perched right on the edge of the bay, and the Great Tide Pool and ocean-view decks provided a wonderful opportunity for me to spot wild marine life, including sea otters and sometimes even whales. While I know admission is on the higher end, I feel the quality of the exhibits and the aquarium's non-profit conservation mission justify the cost. Be aware that the aquarium can get extremely crowded, especially on weekends and holidays. To make the most of your trip, I recommend buying tickets online in advance and aiming to visit on a weekday or arrive right at opening time to experience the most popular exhibits, like the Kelp Forest and Sea Otters, before the large crowds arrive. I would plan to spend at least four hours to fully appreciate the two main floors and attend one of the informative animal feedings or programs. I can say this is more than just an aquarium; it's an unforgettable educational experience and a vital force in ocean protection.
Amy A — Google review
It was way better when I was younger, but still a great experience for my son. The sea otters were so fun to watch! There was a tall man who was very friendly and helpful, which made our visit even better. The only downside is that the price is pretty high.
Awanna S — Google review
The Monterey Bay Aquarium is truly world class. The exhibits are very well cared for, thoughtfully designed, and provide an incredible opportunity to learn about marine life and conservation. I especially appreciate how accessible the aquarium is for all ages and how it inspires children to start learning about the ocean early in life. That said, the aquarium is often very crowded, which can make it difficult to move through and see the exhibits comfortably. Many of the displays are geared toward children, so if you are hoping for a calm and quiet day observing marine life, this may not be the best fit. It has more of a lively, theme-park feel than a peaceful experience. Overall, I think everyone should visit at least once. The aquarium does amazing work, and their efforts to educate the public about ocean health and marine biology are inspiring. Just be prepared for crowds and lots of families.
Kristin B — Google review
So many amazing marine animals to see here and it's really beautiful! There were only two sea otters though, and I wish there were more!! The aquarium also has several cafés with food and drinks, plus gift shops that kids will love. Overall, it was a really enjoyable visit, but just keep in mind that it does get pretty crowded on weekends😂

Gorgeous seaside views, fantastic restaurants, quaint shops; Cannery Row is an iconic oceanfront boardwalk attraction that is definitely worth a visit when you're in Monterey. Upon approach, it may seem that there isn't all that much to it, but once you're on the boardwalk, you realize that a lot of the good stuff is tucked away, a little out of sight, so exploration rewards the traveler. Apparently the aquarium here is also quite the draw, although we didn't pop in during our brief stay here. Lastly, the old Fisherman's Wharf, a little ways to the south-southeast, is almost an extension of all the things that make Cannery Row worth checking out: more shops, more restaurants, and more history. All together, one of the best attractions, and most exciting tourist destinations, in all of Monterey!

We just had the most incredible seafood late lunch after Kayaking at this awesome spot. The food was seriously amazing fresh, delicious, and totally authentic. It's easily the best seafood I've had in ages. You absolutely HAVE to try it if you get a chance. You won't regret it!

The view of the beach is perfect. The Monterey Seafood omelet is a must! Their tiny sealed condiments and jams are so cute! We also had a complimentary birthday treat for our celebrant. Our server, Roxanne, was very helpful informative, and welcoming. Made our first visit to Monterey extra special. Will definitely come back on our next visit!

We were taken care of from the moment we stepped in. Everyone greeted us with a smile, and despite having kids with us, they did not give any impression of being annoyed like some more bougie places do unfortunately. Instead, they made sure that before we even got to our table, there were already colouring pencils and kids menus as well as high chairs. Beyond that, the servers had excellent attention to detail and genuinely wanted us to have a great time. The views are truly beautiful from outside patio that overlooks the water and the food is also quite good. I would just say make sure you know what you like before you order.

Just stopped in for a drink and some apps, but it was top notch. We sit outside, beautiful view, great service. I had the old fashioned (not the best I've ever had, but certainly not the worst), and the crab dip, which is probably my new favorite seafood item. My wife got the martini espresso and it was awesome with the Kahlua.

"Schooners by the Bay" 🌊⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ At Monterey’s edge where the sea air is sweet, Schooners awaits with a feast to complete. The chowder arrives in a bread bowl so warm, Creamy and rich — a classic in form. A velvety green soup, so light yet profound, Hints of the garden in each gentle round. Oysters on ice, kissed fresh by the tide, With lemon’s bright whisper, the ocean inside. A plate crowned with colors — peppers that gleam, Anchovies dancing in olive oil’s dream. Each bite is a voyage, each dish is a view, The bay through your taste buds, pure Monterey blue. From first savory spoonful to last ocean song, Schooners, you’ve won my heart all along. Five shining stars, for flavors so rare, And the joy of the sea in the salt-kissed air.

Schooners consistently delivers, from the view to the food to the drinks. It’s our go-to whenever we’re in town. The seafood is fresh and well-executed. The seafood pasta with lobster, scallops, clams, and shrimp was rich and satisfying, and the raw tower bar was a hit. Plump oysters, clams, mussels, sweet crab, and fresh shrimp. The cocktails are well-crafted. Service is attentive and the oceanfront view just puts it over the top. One of the most consistent dining experiences on Cannery Row. We’ll be back next time.

Schooners Monterey is an elegant oceanfront dining experience that truly delivers on ambiance and quality. The setting is beautiful, with cozy heaters and electric fireplaces that make it perfect for any season. The staff are very attentive and friendly, adding to the overall warm atmosphere. We started with the clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl—rich, flavorful, and a perfect appetizer. For the main course, we enjoyed the seared scallops and ribeye steak, both cooked to perfection. The short rib Bolognese was a standout—absolutely delicious and comforting. The restaurant also offers a great selection for kids, which is a big plus for families. For dessert, we tried the chocolate tart, chocolate chip cookies, and the brownie with ice cream—all indulgent and satisfying. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Monterey looking for fresh food, great service, and stunning ocean views.

We were driving around during sunset hour and felt hungry. Just did a random search on Google and chose this restaurant and what an amazing find it was. Great service. Good food. The location is great right near the waterfront. Overall a great experience. The food was freshly cooked and tasted out of this world.

Had a wonderful dinner here yesterday. Wait staff were super friendly and fast and the views from the restaurant of the marina were beautiful. We had their staple clam chowder and calamari and both were on point. For the mains, the kids had the pasta tubes in Alfredo sauce and the fish and chips and we had the sea scallops and jumbo prawns....everything was very delicious and portions are huge. Enjoy.

Superb seafood, portion sizes were good. You can tell a good seafood restaurant by the little things they use, capers, 4 monks, lighte batter. Chowder was definitely the prize here, chunky full of herb seasoning. Awesome. Drinks were prepared well and everything came out quickly.

Super delicious food, we loved the calamari. The view is great! We went for lunch and the atmosphere was perfect for a families but it did start to turn into more of a bar scene by the time we were leaving so if you’ve got littles with you maybe consider lunch time over dinner. Service was great and friendly. It is down some pretty steep stairs I did not see any wheelchair accessible way to actually get to the restaurant so be mindful of that as well. The bread pudding was perfect 👌🏼

Mom was visiting the area and wanted seafood. I picked this place because of the venue. I would plan to arrive early and put yourself on the wait list for a table by the window and then grab a drink at the bar. The cocktails are STRONG and the bartender was a beast. He can get your drink to you in no time and you can sit and chat while you wait for your table. The food was pretty good, I think it needed some salt. But, I guess it is better to add salt cause you cannot take that away. However, the venue is such a vibe and that is why you should go. We caught the sunset over the water and the boats docked in the wharf. It was pretty spectacular. You will need to pay for parking if you decide to park next to the restaurant. All in all a really good night! Worth going for the venue alone.

We were actually aiming for another well rated restaurant on the wharf but saw the Sandbar and got intrigued, so we stopped in for a Saturday lunch. The place was packed, so that’s a good sign. We ordered the tubes and tentacles and a bowl of clam chowder, though I know the fish n chips are highly rated and that was a close second choice. Next time, we’ll order that because what we did have was really good. For a busy place, the service was quick and kind. The portions were generous, and the view was excellent. Will return.

There were plenty of options for dinner that night, but after some research online, we found this incredible gem. A little secret? Order the clam chowder with a splash of sherry. Reservations are a must, as apparently, they are always packed. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was bright and lively and the wine selection was great! You’re also sitting very close to the water in a kind of secluded location, so the whole thing feels like a well-kept secret. A must if you’re in Monterey!

I can't say enough nice things about this restaurant. The staff are helpful and kind, and very accommodating for families with special needs. The food is simply outstanding, on every level. Prices are very fair, portions are huge, ingredients are fresh, and the waitstaff are friendly and patient. I highly recommend the outdoor seating, if weather permits. Nice views! Came around 6:30 PM and was seated in around 20 minutes. The servers were polite and accommodating, but on the slower end in fulfilling requests. For over $30, the Seafood Fettuccine tasted plain and was small in portion. Definitely aimed for tourists 🍝🦐🐟⚓

Old school charm, good food and great views. A family friendly spot overlooking the bay and a beach below. Big menu and many daily specials should satisfy picky eaters. Outdoor seating give great views. Many pasta, pizza and fish options. Had the rock cod fish tacos which were ample and fresh. Large portions. The CA beer sampler is a fun choice.

I have a variety of thoughts about Louie Linguini’s. Let’s start with the location and atmosphere. It’s situated in the perfect spot to overlook the water and cannery area. They have mostly indoor seating and a tiny bit of outdoor seating when you first walk up the stairs on the deck. It’s very shady here but it’s OK. You may wanna bring a long sleeve on a breezy day. The food is average at best. Most of the folks in my party had fish and chips and fried calamari. But we also tried the Alfredo linguine and seafood linguine. The fish and chips were not what I expected from this area. Just not super high-quality or special in any particular way. Lots of small pieces as opposed to a few large pieces. I question that. The seafood linguine on the other hand was quite good. And the calamari was basic calamari, I don’t think fresh. What is cool, is that they have a dog menu. So that’s nice since many of the visitors, including us, have dogs. Service was pretty spotty I’d say. I think it’s because you’re outside and they just don’t go out there as much.

My dad an I were visiting the grandparents and we came here for food the food was so amazing it was fresh and tasted amazing came out pretty quick even tho they were busy. Kenzie was our server she was absolutely amazing we loved her she was such a sweetheart and was extremely helpful and did her job well! Place is so cute would recommend to anyone who is visiting!

Today, we decided to treat ourselves to lunch, and what a delightful choice it was! Our table had a stunning view that made the experience even more enjoyable. Kim, our server, was a breath of fresh air—so friendly and attentive! I couldn't resist ordering the Shrimp Aurora, which was simply divine. My granddaughters opted for a trio of delicious options: garlic fries, a Caesar salad, and heavenly garlic bread. Each bite was a delight, and together, we created a wonderful memory over a fantastic meal. What a lovely way to spend the day!

We had an incredible experience at Louie Linguini’s in Monterey Bay! The food was top-notch— I ordered the garlic fries, my wife enjoyed the lobster ravioli and the blackened salmon with prawns (an absolute must-try), and our guest raved about the bread bowl and fish & chips. Everything was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The service was just as amazing as the food—friendly, attentive, and welcoming. What really impressed us, though, was how dog-friendly this place is. They brought out a mat and water for our pup, and we even ordered him a 6 oz grilled salmon served over wild rice with fresh diced carrots from their dedicated dog menu (something every restaurant should have!). Between the delicious food, outstanding service, and the extra love shown to our dog, Louie Linguini’s truly exceeded expectations. Definitely a Monterey gem we’ll be coming back to!

Parks
Dennis The Menace Playground, named after the famous comic book character, is a spacious park with various activities such as a maze and rock climbing wall. Located near shops and restaurants, the playground offers large grassy areas for socializing and playing sports, along with picnic tables. Children can enjoy multiple play structures including slides, climbing frames, swings, bridges, tunnels, see-saws, springy animals and ride-on vehicles.
An Absolute Blast! This playground is Incredible! Wow! We just visited [Playground Name] and it was extreme fun! This isn't just a playground; it's an entire adventure zone. What really stands out is the sheer number of diverse play areas. There's something for every age, with structures thoughtfully spaced out so kids can explore safely and independently. The huge roller slide was a massive hit – a definite highlight that brought out screams of joy! They also have an impressive variety of swings, including a special swing that accommodates both an adult and a toddler, which was fantastic for our little one. Beyond the play structures, the amenities are top-notch. The restrooms were clean (a big win for parents!), and there was plenty of parking, making the visit stress-free from the moment we arrived. The overall setting of the park is simply amazing. It's beautifully surrounded by a serene pond where people were enjoying boating and paddleboarding, adding to the relaxed and vibrant atmosphere. We could easily spend hours here. Highly, highly recommend [Playground Name] for an unforgettable day of play!

I've lived here five years and have passed this playground and park probably hundreds of times. Finally stopped by and wish I had earlier. Easy and close parking. It feels safe, fenced with a good mix of people and ages. Can't get on the train engine, but fun to look at. A fenced maze with shrubbery along the fence was fun. My favorite is the swinging bridge. Pond next to the park often has paddle boats which are fun to watch. Parking does get a little crowded when there is a baseball game. Highly recommend a visit!

First went here as an elementary age kid and got to bring my 8 month old 20 years later. It's an incredible playground park with various climbing structures, swings, a suspension bridge, tunnels, and plenty of open space for running around. This really is one of the best playgrounds I've ever been to, and the design is incredible.

A massive playground for kids. Baseball field and concession stand for fresh hot food and cold drinks. If not McDonald's nearby. This place is awesome. I had a fresh burger at the concessions and it was better than McDonald's. Props to the City of Monterey and those who help build this amazing park.

This park was so cute. Lots of structures for little ones to explore and run around. My 2 yr old did not want to leave

This park is SPECTACULAR! Tons of play structure that are both fun and engaging, including a small maze. The park is huge! It has a beautiful pond that wraps around it, complete with giant petal powered swan boats and docks along the park. It is both family and pet friendly. There are ducks you can feed, an area to picnic. It is very clean and safe. I can't say enough good things about this park! It is definitely worth a visit, if you are in the area.

You can tell this park is dated, but it has held up well. It's timeless. It's got its own magic. My son became possessed by the magic of joy it brings all children who enter its grounds.

The C Restaurant + Bar is a seafood-driven dining spot with stunning views of Monterey Bay. Located inside the InterContinental The Clement Monterey hotel, it boasts floor-to-ceiling windows and a heated patio, offering an upscale dining experience. Executive chef Jerry Regester prioritizes sustainable and local ingredients, reflecting his long-standing interest in such practices. The restaurant's affiliation with the Seafood Watch Program aligns with its commitment to sustainability.
Came here for breakfast as we were staying at the Intercontinental Clement. Usually I’m on the fence about hotel restaurants, as they usually are for convenience rather than quality. This restaurant however was lovely. Views are immaculate as you are perched up right against the water. Food was tasty and the prices are pretty good. We order the standard eggs breakfast and a stack of pancakes. It was delicious and the service was also very attentive. At one point we had three different waiters checking in on us. Would recommend this place if you are looking for a great view and a good breakfast. My one and only small gripe was the live music. It was nice and his voice was great. It was just a tad loud for me. Anyhow, recommend to give this place a try if you are on cannery row early in the morning.

Darin was our server, he was amazing and professional. He was down to earth and not only interacted with the adults but made a point to chat with the kids. He and his team always checked in during dinner. Food was delicious, fresh and loaded with flavor. Old fashions were on point from the bar. The restaurant was clean, kitchen was organized, bathroom was also maintained. Hosts greeted you with a warm, friendly smile. Live music was very entertaining and much appreciated.

The atmosphere and service were both good, as the food was expensive. The atmosphere was especially nice because we were eating dinner while watching the sunset. The food was delicious, of course, but the amount and taste of the food didn't live up to the price. There are many restaurants around, so I recommend you compare them carefully and eat.

I made a reservation for my birthday (July 4, so always a busy day) here for my husband and I when we were visiting from out of town. I made the reservation on OpenTable and notated that it was for a birthday and requested a table with a view (if possible). Upon arriving the manager was at the host stand and let us know a table was finishing up and they would be able to seat us at a table with a water view in 5 min. The manager walked us to our table and made sure to ask whose birthday it was, definitely a nice touch for attention to detail. I order 1/2 dozen oysters, a Caesar salad, fries and a martini. This was probably the best Caesar salad I've ever had in my life, there were even anchovies on top! The martini had house stuffed blue cheese olives in it and it was the perfect lil extra dirty martini. We ordered the Baked Banaska for desert and they brought out a birthday desert as well. Everything was amazing, the staff was very hospitable and they really pay attention to the details. Would definitely recommend!

Seafood restaurant
Abalonetti Bar and Grill, a charming restaurant located on the historic Fisherman's Wharf, has been serving fresh seafood and delightful dishes since 1951. It is renowned for its exceptional calamari, which sets it apart from other eateries in the area. What makes Abalonetti stand out is that they clean all their squid in-house, a practice that is surprisingly rare as most places opt to ship it abroad due to cost-effectiveness.
Was greeted at the front by one of the owners to go over the menu who helped answer questions about vegetarian options and was very welcoming. The server Joe was amazing at going over options as well as gave us a rundown of the specials. The bloody Mary was amazing. The pizza was crispy and had great amount of toppings. The clam chowder bowl was filling and tasted great! Overall a place you need to experience!

This food was phenomenal!!! Best calamari in california for sure! The service was lovely!! They had a little issue with figuring out who our server was(it was no big deal) but they still gave us a free calamari appetizer which was so sweet!! Our food all came out at the same time and I would recommend the Calamari Tacos 😁

Visited the Fish & Chips Cafe right next door to the Abalonetti and found out they’re actually connected. The Bar and Grill is perfect for a cozy lunch inside but the Fish & Chips Cafe next door is perfect for a quick bite outside on the wharf. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was DELICIOUS. I ordered 5 fresh oysters for only $3.00 a piece, definitely couldn’t beat that. My daughters ordered the clam chowder bread bowls and devoured them! The bread was fresh and the soup was hot. We will definitely be returning next time we’re in Monterey.

HORRIBLE ESTABLISHMENT, the waiter came only 20 minutes after we sat down at the table. She took the order for drinks and left with such a disdainful expression on her face, after 10 minutes of talking with the bartender she returned to take the order, after some time she brought a plate with lemon for 2 pastas, something similar to a quarter of a lemon, but the problem is not only this but also that it was lying on a DIRTY plate, after another 20 minutes they brought the order. and just as we were about to start eating, I noticed that I didn't have any utensils, and I politely asked the waitress to bring me a fork, to which she left with a displeased expression and brought me a dirty fork not wrapped in a serving napkin, just in her hands holding the part that I was supposed to eat, unfortunately I didn't have time to examine the others, because my family was hungry and started eating, after which I asked the kitchen assistant to bring me a new fork, he brought a fork that was already wrapped, it wasn't very clean at the time, but I had already resigned myself to it, because I wanted to eat faster and go home to rest, but then the next surprise awaited us, my wife found metal shavings in her seafood pasta. to which I asked to call the manager, they told me I had to wait, after which after some time the bartender came, listened and asked “how can I compensate for this incident”, immediately after this question the waitress came and he immediately ran away, she collected the plates and left with such an expression on her face as if it wasn’t them who had ruined my evening, but I who wanted to feed her something dirty and it’s not clear what to feed her

Sly McFly's is a fun and casual American eatery and bar that features live jazz & blues at night. This locals hangout is well located in a popular tourist run, and the server was polite and friendly. Big pet peeve of mine is a consistently empty glass, which happened a few times at the restaurant. The food was large, but it fell to pieces when I tried to eat it, making a mess.
We didn’t have any food however we did had the drinks and they are the best so far I encounter in California. We travel all over the state over 10 days and this so far has had the best cocktails anyway in California located right in cannery Road even though it’s not waterfront is to die for I would highly highly highly suggest get the white linen cocktail, which was my favorite if you’re looking to relax and just have a good time highly recommend this place

Nice place to grab a bite on a visit to the aquarium. Good mix of seafood options, bar food, and some basic entrees. The clam chowder in a sour dough bread bowl was a standout, and the fish tacos were fresh and tasty. The drink menu had some standards and a couple of unique choices. Food came out fast.
Tim — Google review
The food was really good (clam chowder and lobster roll). My less than 5 stars comes from the atmosphere and cleanliness. I was expecting a slightly nicer place given the location, photos online and prices but this really gave me sports bar vibes. Our table was sticky and the empty tables around us were still dirty from previous patrons. It is possible they were understaffed because I only saw one server while we were there. He was polite and the food came out quickly.
Gina C — Google review
Our server Katlyn was super attentive and nice, service was great. We ordered the chicken tenders and they look and taste like frozen chicken tenders you can buy at the grocery store no crisp or flavor whatsoever. Again service was great food was deceiving.
Ernesto F — Google review
Sly’s isn’t a bad place. The ambience is nice and the staff are friendly, though sometimes hard to find. The food is decent, but overpriced, even if it is on the Row. The chowder is good but the bread is so-so. The fish n chips desperately needed to be drained - the fish was cooked well and the batter is good but the whole thing went soggy from the oil coming off it. The biggest issue - a 9 dollar Guinness poured out of a can into a plastic glass. And it was room temp. :(
Ms D — Google review
Came in to try the lobster roll, unfortunately tasted more of the carrot salad than lobster meat. $45 (CA) vs $32 (MA), just because in California everything is more expensive; two pictures from different geographical locations. Just sharing my experience: eat lobster roll when on East coast.
Alsu T — Google review
Worst lobster roll (and most expensive) I’ve ever had. 0 flavor to the lobster. I’m guessing it came out of a can and sat in a warming tray from the taste/ texture of it. The water they served tasted like it was the leftover water the lobster was warmed up in. The popcorn shrimp was good. Cocktail was good. Don’t get the lobster anything or a water.

Visited Esteban on Mother’s Day for Dinner. Looked like they had a special brunch for Mother’s Day. It wasn’t busy for dinner. Enjoyed everything. Would get a paella with seafood next time which would probably have more flavor. We really loved the Brussels and I ate all the crust from my son’s pizza. The bread was so good. We found street parking easily on a Sunday night.

The food was worth the mediocre service. My waitress would disappear for long periods of time on a not crowded Sunday night. She returned 3 times to tell me my sparking water was “coming” over 15 minutes. I asked about the specials on Sunday she said they had $1 oysters but were “out” at 7:05pm. I ordered the Prawns with Heads on them very good and the Octopus and a cheese pizza and all 3 were prepared and presented well. I felt like the server maybe had others tables away from mine but not sure.

this is my third time at Esteban's and every time i enjoy a meal here the food is always consistently delicious. Rebecca has been my service twice now and always provides the best service. she's so kind, and truly makes my dining experience even better! i love sitting outside under their covered patio (with heaters!). it’s also pet friendly too! i was so hungry, my stomach ate first -- however, i ordered the breakfast burrito and it was FANTASTIC. it's hearty, there are huge chunks of bacon in it, and the salsa that accompanies it has great flavor! the restaurant is located inside the cutest hotel, Casa Munras. they also offer tapas during dinner service, which is also absolutely delicious. it's also so cute inside with the spanish style decor. parking is easy to find close by in the adjacent lot or on the street. already looking forward to my next meal here when i'm in town again! 10/10 for Esteban Restaurant!

While we arrived for an early dinner with friends around 5:30 on a Sat night several months ago, the place was already getting busy. And by the time we left around 8:30, it was really the place to be it seemed. We were 3 couples dining and started with drinks and several appetizers which were all very good. We then all split entries and were very pleasantly surprised when they were brought to the table already split! Who does that proactively? Such a great service addition. All of the food was very good - pic of *half* of the chicken dinner.

Do not judge a book by its cover! When we pulled up, my husband was hesitant. But after looking at so many great reviews I was insistent on going in. - We had a group of 10 and the Crystal Fish staff were extremely accommodating. There was constantly water in all of our glasses. The food was absolutely amazing! I have had a lot of sushi. This was by far the best experience I have had. It was so fresh and the prices are so reasonable! We had quite a few newbies trying sushi and they all loved it. Shawna’s chimichanga roll (not pictured) was a hit with everyone at the table! I would highly suggest this to anyone who is a newbie with sushi. - If you are on the fence about where to get sushi, you should come to Crystal Fish!

This place is pure Japanese authenticity with a fun twist—chefs here clearly have a secret mission: to spoil you with the juiciest, dreamiest bites. The fish? So tender and fresh it basically melted on my tongue (yes, I may have fallen a little in love with it). I grabbed the spicy edamame, and wow… that little kick of heat was pure happiness in a bowl. And the draft Sapporo? Honestly, it’s like the beer and the fish have some kind of secret love affair—together they were just perfection. No question about it, I’ll be sneaking back here the next time I wander through Monterey. ❤️

That was…DELICIOUS! I’m reviewing this AT the restaurant, poor folks had the power cut on them but still maintained a positive attitude. I’m glad I decided to strip out of my wetsuit after a freezing cold swim to drive over here to try out their sushi, I inhaled the entire row in one breath 🙈 I was worried about parking but I came at 6pm and street parking seems to be pretty free outside of business hours (9am-6pm), easily found parking spots by the restaurant. I would highly recommend coming here for their sushi!

Melville Tavern is a cozy American gastropub located on 484 Washington St. in downtown Monterey. The tavern offers a welcoming neighborhood vibe with vintage accents and serves above-average food and drinks at great value. Owner-operator Colin Ling, who has a background in the restaurant industry, aimed to create an elevated burger-and-beer experience, which he successfully achieved with craft drafts like 10 Barrel Apocalypse IPA and Hoegaarden white ale.
There is something uplifting about this place with its book shelves. The buffalo chicken pizza was top notch, and was destroyed by us! The spicy honey glazed pork belly was like meat candy! The blackened chicken sandwich was super fresh. One person brought us a dessert that we hadn’t ordered , but it was replaced with the correct one super quick. I would definitely recommend the apple crisp! With an absolutely delicious crumbly coating, it tasted like heaven. This place also has a jar of cute treats for your pup.

Wait staff was excellent. Food for the most part was pretty good. Breakfast pizza was boring. Menu variety is amazing though, so many tempting items.
BJ H — Google review
My recent visit to Melville Tavern was an absolute delight from start to finish. As soon as we walked in, we were warmly greeted by the host and promptly seated at a spacious table for our party of four. The ambiance was cozy with its low lighting and inviting atmosphere, setting the perfect stage for a memorable dining experience. The menu boasted an impressive array of options, making it difficult to choose just a few dishes. To start, we indulged in the mozzarella and spinach artichoke dip, both of which exceeded our expectations. The housemade mozzarella sticks were a standout, impressing us with their cheesy goodness and generous portion size. The spinach dip was equally delightful, offering a tangy freshness that left us craving more. For my main course, I opted for the blackened chicken Alfredo, and I'm so glad I did. The decision to use rigatoni pasta instead of the typical fettuccine was a stroke of genius, as it perfectly complemented the creamy Alfredo sauce and flavorful blackened chicken. Each bite was a symphony of flavors, leaving me thoroughly satisfied. From the friendly service to the delectable food, every aspect of our dining experience exceeded expectations. Whether you're craving a casual meal with friends or a special night out, this tavern is sure to impress. Be sure to try the blackened chicken Alfredo – it's an absolute must-try!

Beautiful space! Delicious food! Try the calzone or ahi tuna sandwhich! Clam chowder was great too! Interesting cocktails! Friendly service from staff! ***Dog friendly!!!!*** we sat in the atrium seating with our doggie and the have a doggie menu. They were getting ready for car week and it seemed a lot was being set up, seems like the place to be next week!!!!

This place has to be one of the worst places me and my fiancé have been to and we will never be back! Made a reservation 2 months in advance in preparation for Valentine’s Day made a phone call in advanced that we were bringing our dog and at this time there was no mention of any type of menu change or problems. Day of turns out the they changed the menu to a pre fix menu for today only which everyone had to order and they have removed everything else including their dog menu. We didn’t make a big deal about this as it was already too late to change last minute plans. The whole night the service was horrible. It took 20 minuties to bring out our drinks in which she never brought our water even when requested once in the beginning and once during course 3 again in which water never came. Took 25+ minutes to receive course 1 salad as well. This would make more sense if the place was extremely busy but keep in mind although it wasn’t very quiet the tables were about 3/4 filled. What really got me was that they added a 20% automatic tip which I don’t mind paying normally but with such a crap service I needed to speak my mind. These servers know that they will get an automatic tip so don’t need to try to even offer decent service. Anyways to end this long review, the food was mid and the night was very disappointing ended up paying $240.

I loved this place the first time I went (big group diversity of ppl) the food is great but then I came back only with my Mexican friend and like 30 min after serving us the food the waitress was already asking us if we wanted a box while the place was almost empty, not to mention they placed us far from the main area and the waitress constantly came to check on us but made me feel more rushed than actually her checking if everything was ok. Kinda disappointed tbh.

You can’t beat the ambience here. Javier’s skillet was my choice this morning, my travel companion chose the granola with yogurt and berries. Both were extremely delicious.

Nice place conveniently close to the hotel/conference I'm attending. Atmosphere is very welcoming, calm and classy but still casual. The bar area has TVs, a sitting area with a very fire place to enjoy some chats and eats/drinks. The atrium area gives you an outdoor feel while being indoors. They had a good selection of spirits and beer on tap as well as a fun looking cocktail list. I enjoyed the salmon plate, good all around taste, very satisfying. They otherwise had a wide variety of appetizers, salads, meat plates, pizzas and desserts.

When we looked up this restaurant we didn’t know that it was inside the hotel. But we found it. 🤣🤣 It was really nice inside but we were looking for more of a romantic place. Also the menu we seen on the reviews was not the menu we received, it was like half the options we seen online. The waiter we had was really nice and got everything we asked for. Our food was really good too. In the end we had a really nice time. It was more of us just celebrating of anniversary together. O and the sweet potato tater tots were amazing.

This is our in-laws favorite place to go so we join them when in town & are never disappointed. It’s located in the plaza of the Portola Hotel. The service is fast and friendly. We love the calamari and garlic fries. Last time we came they had cheesy skillet with dinner rolls as an appetizer that were AMAZING! We were so sad to see they are no longer on the menu. We got the bread boule instead but it wasn’t as good. It taste fine but the cheese is hard and dry and it’s difficult to pull apart and eat. BRING BACK the other appetizer!! Other than that we love the atmosphere.

It's always a hopeful sign when vegan (V) and gluten free (GF) are clearly identified. That's the reason I chose Jacks at the Portola Hotel in Old Monterey. There were more than one item I can order. We selected a salad, The Sesame Ginger Bowl without the hoisin sauce, a side of fried tofu for protein, and the Turkey Pot Pie. Both items were delicious. The server forgot about the fried tofu, but when it finally came, it was oil soaked and not very enjoyable. The salad was enjoyable. The Turkey Pot Pie came with a spoon because it was kind of soupy inside, but enough turkey and very delicious. The hotel interior was nicely designed by the ambience at our table was not as nice because it felt like a low end sports bar. If we came back to Monterey or Pacific Grove again, we would definitely dine here.

Duffy's Tavern is a family-owned and operated pub that has been serving up burgers and brews to military personnel stationed at the Presidio for decades. The small bar is easy to miss, but it's well worth finding--especially if you're looking for a relaxed spot to eat before hitting the town.
Went to check out the Packers game and was not disappointed. Service was great and I had a solid burger. Sweet potato fries were super tasty! Ranch was legit (ranch is very important to me 😆) as were the pickles. We had some more of the game to watch so I opted to try their cheesecake. FIRE. I might go back just for the cheesecake! No joke. Great neighborhood bar, thank you guys!!

This is a cool quiet small bar, with lots of military memorabilia. They serve beer wine and some food, I have not had any food from here yet. I hope to come back soon in Monterey and when I do I definitely better stop it here for some lunch. I saw the hot dog meat served It looked really good. Stop by and check this place out it is cool.

What an excellent find. A must visit while in the area. A little out of the way, tucked away jewel. The chef broiled my bean burger separately to accommodate my alpha gal allergy. It was fresh and light. The Turkey burger was heavenly, and so was their hamburger. The coleslaw was the best I have had—so fresh and light. The ambience is down to earth, friendly. We even hung out and played darts. The chef sat down and chatted and shared recipes, and even asked our kid riddles. The husband picked the owner brains about the area. Truly family friendly and friendly.

Duffy's is that rare neighborhood tavern that has great food and atmosphere born of decades of tradition - a treasure of the local community that I was unaware of for close to three years of living on Spaghetti Hill. Best grilled chicken sandwich. Friendly and personal service. Like going to a friend's for a meal or drink. Clean, well maintained and comfortably lit.

Great local bar restaurant! Off the beaten path so it’s usually filled with locals. Great place to catch sports games. Sunday beer special (pitcher only $15) is the best deal in Monterey. Beer and wine only, no liquor unfortunately. Burgers are amazing and steak night is a deal!

Yum!!! We came for the burgers and they were delicious! We tried the Fiesta and Terikayi Mushroom burgers as well as the stuffed tater tots! So yummy all around! The burgers tasted so fresh and they were huge! It's a small place but very kind people and seems like a lot of people are regulars, don't blame them at all! Yum!

This is a cute little converted house at the end of the street at the back entrance to Monterey Precedio. The food is wonderful and the staff is welcoming. If they have the green jelly tortilla soup, it is a must have absolutely delicious. If I had to ding them on something, it would be the men's room smells like urine. But, that could have been the person that was just in there before I was.

Stokes Adobe Restaurant is a popular dining spot located in Monterey's historic quarter. The restaurant is housed in a large building dating back to 1833 and offers upscale comfort food with a focus on local, seasonal ingredients. The menu draws inspiration from French and Italian cuisines, offering a delightful culinary experience. Guests can enjoy cocktails around the fire pit or opt for outdoor seating with well-appointed heaters. The ambiance is enhanced by privacy hedges that provide isolation from the road, creating an intimate dining setting.
Made dinner reservations for three to celebrate our granddaughters birthday. Such a welcoming atmosphere. Great drinks and service. Conner took good care of us upstairs. I enjoyed the Shaved Broccoli Salad and my husband ate every last bite of his pork chop. Our granddaughter ordered the Tagliatelle Bolognese and said it was as good as it was filling! I highly recommend this spot. And don’t go without ordering the bread service!!!! Yummmmm

Our experience here was delightful. The only complaint is we asked for medium on our steak and it was very well done. I was hungry so I still ate. Same thing happened to my sister. Our third friend ordered well done and hers was medium rare. Other than that they were very accommodating to some requests. Our waitress was the best! The ambiance was wonderful. I loved my cocktails. We would love to go here again. :)

It’s been a long time since I’ve enjoyed a steak that much. I got the wagyu strip… so delicious. Had to get that out of the way first. Highly recommend for a low key but upscale feeling dinner. The food was so good. Although the portion sizes kind of sucked in my opinion. Ha. I wish there was more. The outside area has a fun patio with heaters. The staff and servers were nice and the service was quick. I will definitely be back here. Didn’t get any drinks but they looked good too.

Second time around, I think everything was still at the same level as first. Food was good, but not great. The pork chop covered with sesame was too much fat and funny texture, octopus 🐙 was not good :( Drinks were average. Our server wasn’t in the mood to work that day. Atmosphere was good outside by the fire

We had a small 20 person micro wedding at Carmel Beach and had the reception at Stokes Adobe. Cara was extremely helpful and responsive during the planning process. We had the cocktail hour in the upper patio area. It felt very private. The appetizers were amazing and our server Jane was friendly and attentive. Dinner was served in Hattie's Room. Loved the option of choices between three entrees. I had so many comments from the guests how wonderful the venue and food was and how incredible the staff was. Can't thank Cara enough for all her help.

We started in the patio for happy hour. It was wonderful with the fire pit, lovely music and attentive service. Proceeded to the dining room where we ordered the octopus, broccoli and cedar salad, tagliatelle bolognese, duck liver toast and the chicken. All beautifully presented and highlighted the chefs ability to deliver sublime flavor with simple ingredients. Service was again on point. A definite must visit when in Monterey

Cella Restaurant & Bar is a recent addition to Monterey's dining scene, known for its distinctive aqua blue door and seasonal menu that offers a creative and well-balanced selection of flavors. Visitors have praised the restaurant for its great food, delightful cocktails, and inviting atmosphere. The service has been described as outstanding, with attentive staff making diners feel like VIPs by engaging in cheerful conversations and going above and beyond to accommodate their requests.
We had a wonderful evening. Service was prompt and precise-back waiters and main service staff attentive and engaging. Sparking water was a nicer touch. I had an NA cocktail with herbaceous undertones that was a great start to the meal. Nothing felt rushed, we just relaxed and let an evening of food and conversation flow. Highly recommended

A culinary experience to remember! From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed and professionally shown to our table. Alicia took care of us throughout the evening – knowledgeable, charming, and clearly passionate about her work. She answered all our questions about the menu and introduced each dish with a thoughtful explanation. This personal touch truly elevated the evening. We ordered two steaks, chicken, fries, asparagus, salad, and sourdough bread – every item was absolutely delicious. The seasoning was perfectly balanced; we didn’t need to reach for salt or pepper once. The kitchen clearly knows what it’s doing. What stood out even more was the impeccable service: after each course, the table was discreetly cleaned, and empty plates were promptly cleared – every detail was just right. As tourists from Europe, this is by far the best restaurant we’ve experienced on our journey through the USA. A big thank you to the entire team!

My wife and I are Monterey locals but hadn't yet dined at Cella. We had a very special occasion to celebrate: our 15th wedding anniversary. We made easy reservations online for July 17, 2025. We both had a great time and enjoyed the staff as well as the food. We had a great server who took great care of us. And food itself was just amazing! We started with appetizers (Italian Burrata and Warm Bing Cherries) they were outstanding. Then we had our entrees: Rack of Labm and Red Wine Braised Beef Cheek. Absolute culinary works of art that tasted incredible! All the food just melted in our mouths and we never felt "full", like we could keep on eating. We both paired our meals with a Rhone red wine. Perhaps this is simply the best quality foods and the way they are prepared. Our compliments to the chef and his staff. Dessert was an Olive Oil Cake and a special cake that had almonds...both, again, delicious! We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience there and will go again. We highly recommend Cella Restaurant Bar.

Every ounce of this experience was 11/10. Our waitress Maddie was such a joy, pleasant and kind and we really want to highlight her professionalism because she made this visit SO special. And if I am leaving a review, it’s only because everyone needs to know how amazing something was because I have wasted my money at 100’s of restaurants. We sat outside and were often offered blankets though not cold, which was such a nice touch. We are from Colorado and I have been lucky enough to dine at many Michelin star restaurants and I hope one comes to Cella soon. The bread and butter were the simplest yet most divine treat. And our scallops were cooked to perfection with seasonal compliments in the corn Chardonnay sauce and mushrooms that accompanied it. And most notable, we were sharing this entree and were given warmed plates just before the entree came out. This is a HUGE sign that the chef cares about the condition the food is served. It was something many skip but could easily do. We wanted to savor every bite. And the homemade butterscotch pudding came in a fun yet approachable display and is unlike anything I’ve ever had. We were warmly greeted upon arrival and departure. I’ll be very sad often that I can’t rush back over from my home in Colorado. This is not to be missed.

We were exhausted from traveling and Cella welcomed us with warmth and grace. The setting was a soothing respite from the crowds. The people were genuine. The food satisfied and impressed. And the drinks were perfectly matched to the food. Cella embodies true hospitality and we hope to be back for more

Quintessential California coast kind of vibe. Beautiful courtyard although we ate inside along the mahogany banquette. Drank Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire even though we were in Monterey bc life’s too short. The Normandy butter and in-house baked bread will change your life. The baby lettuce salad and the beef cheeks were divine. Beef cheeks came with a side of horseradish cream which made the dish sing. Some of the best mashed potatoes I’ve had lately (I’m an expert in the field of mashed potatoes). The vanilla crème brûlée with chocolate mousse is a little stroke of genius.

Oh my Lord is this place good. The atmosphere is very romantic with lovely pops of color. We got married right next to this restaurant at the Barns at Cooper Molera, and for our one year anniversary we decided to dine here. We got the steak and scallops, along with bread and burrata apps. The scallops were by far the star of the show, in a wonderful cream sauce cooked to perfection. The steak was good, not our favorite but still amazing. The service was wonderful and they brought us 2 glasses of champagne to celebrate. We made a reservation, and they seated us at a nice corner table that was very romantic and private for us. Definitely on the pricier side but you get what you pay for, which is delicious food! We will definitely return for future anniversaries celebrated in Monterey!

What amazing place, the entrance was hiding the beautiful interior and exterior seating areas. We sat outside and the heaters were perfect. Our waitress Paige was knowledgeable, listened to our orders, and gave great suggestions. The wait staff are well versed in their positions. The food plating, delivery, and taste were absolutely stunning. All of the food was perfect. There are not too many times when we leave a restaurant without some of the main course. This time we only left with our leftover bread. Truly amazing experience. I would highly recommend.

Perched atop Hotel 1110, the LindaRose Rooftop Bar & Grill offers a warm ambiance with stunning views of Del Monte Beach and El Estero Lake. The menu features Mediterranean-inspired grill dishes, complemented by a selection of custom-crafted cocktails. Whether you're a hotel guest or not, this rooftop gem is open to all. Guests rave about the fantastic food and drinks, including unique cocktails like the Northern Lights.
Beautiful view and very elegant rooftop restaurant. It was cold that evening. Luckily, they had plenty of heaters that kept us comfortable. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We ordered 2 mocktails and 1 cocktail. All were excellent. My only critique is that I wish mocktails were a large portion. They were refreshing and delicious. We ordered the Small Charcuterie board, which was enough for the 3 of us. It had a great selection of cheese, nuts, and dried fruit. The steak fries were good as well. Steak tasted fresh, not the best cut of meat, but it was tender could of used a bit of salt to add more flavor. The restaurant is on the top floor, which is accessible via a very small elevator or the stairs. I chose the stairs. Personally, I'm not comfortable with very small elevators. I definitely recommend Linda Rose for a nice dinner with a view or an evening out.

An excellent rooftop restaurant in Monterey. We did not make a reservation as we were late for dinner. But the service was just right and the food tasted really good. Even though they had heaters to keep you warm, better come with a jacket to protect from the wind. A great choice if in Monterrey.

Great spot to have a decent meal. Food was not excevily expensive, great view even at night. The planes flight right over you head which is kind of cool. They have plenty of heating elements for your comfort. Customer service was good. I believe is better is have a reservation. They were able to seat us even without a reservation and they gave us seat with great view over the ocean and city. This place its located at the very top of the hotel building. You are not allowed to use the elevator (it is for guests only).

After a scenic bike ride along the Northern coast of Monterey, we stopped off to celebrate my wife's birthday with a Mai Tai and ginger / dragon fruit Mocktail, and both were outstanding. It is a great location to view the entirety of Monterey Bay! The baked brie and pistachio with crilustinis was an added bonus! The rooftop will be a regular visit every time we are in town!

Booked here after reading all the positive reviews but have to say we were a little disappointed. The cocktail selection was good (expensive but nice) and the view is a plus but the food was very average and quite pricey for what you get. There is also not a big selection and portion sizes are small. I had the mac and cheese which was more like a side size than a main and was bland. My partner had the kebab pita and it was very small. We shared the Mediterranean fries which were a good size but for $16 they should be. Overall it was just not good value for money.
Kirsty R — Google review
We were the only ones here at sunset. Food, drinks, service, and music were spot on. Heaters kept us toasty while we finished our meal. Definitely an unexpected experience, but well worth it. The lamb burger was awesome, and the mixed grill was super as well. Not a long wait at all.

Nestled just a block north of the iconic Cannery Row, the Cannery Row Brewing Company (CRBC) is a vibrant eatery that promises a delightful experience for families and friends alike. With an impressive selection of over 75 draft beers—boasting one of Northern California's largest collections—this brewpub is perfect for beer enthusiasts looking to explore unique flavors.
The beers 🍻 were tasty. We had the Short Rib Grilled Cheese and Street Tacos 🌮, which both were very good. The staff was very friendly.

We went here because it was featured on diners drive-ins and dives. The recommended dish on diners drive-ins and dives was the pulled pork grilled cheese sandwich which we tried. It was good but very rich. I don’t think I would order it ever again. The pretzel was very good and the french fries were delicious. The chicken tenders were good too! They have a lot of beers on the menu which is awesome!

Cup of clam chowder. Pastrami sandwich. French fries. 2 Lagunitas IPAs. 3 Ninkasi dawn of the red beers. That’s what I ordered. $67. Fair. Not cheap. Nice place. Lots and lots of beer options. Was pretty empty when I was there. On a Thursday. Just before closing.

Saw this place on an episode of diner, dives, and drives. So we checked it out. Food was okay. A tad bit pricey for what you get, but then again we were at cannery row/tourist area. Ahi poke was great, panko crusted sand dabs was really good, shortrib grilled cheese was okay, mahi tacos good but pricey for just 3 small tacos and came with no sides. Monkey bread donuts were tasty.
Paul T — Google review
My only complaint is that they don’t brew their own beer! But the beer selection is extensive nonetheless. The bacon cheddar biscuits, fries, fish and chips, and bleu cheese burger are highly recommended.

Fun place for lunch with a great beer selection. My husband and I both had a cup of clam chowder to start. It was fantastic. I had the short rib grilled cheese with a salad. My husband had the sand abs. We really enjoyed our food and beer. The restrooms are downstairs and unfortunately smell fairly strongly of sewer. That was really the only negative about the place.

Last weekend we celebrated my husband's birthday in Monterey. We basically ate and drank our way through town. Lol. Every place we stopped had good food and drinks along with CRBC but what set this place apart was the staff. Jeremy was so down to earth and cool that he made us feel like we were lifelong friends. I am a fan of scotch and whiskeys and always looking for something new to try so Jeremy took the time to seek out different brands I hadn't tried yet. That was Saturday, well when Sunday came around we found ourselves back here. This time we met August and Mark, two equally accommodating and down to earth guys behind the bar. Again we felt like we had known them for years. We didn't try and plates but are definitely going back to do so the next time we are in town.

If you're looking for a great place to drink craft beer, Post No Bills is the spot for you. They have over 200 bottles and cans of different beers, so there's definitely something for everyone. Plus, the funky yet comfortable atmosphere makes it a great place to sit and chat with friends.
A laidback tap house with some eccentric decor, including a graffiti wall, a hung surfboard, and a wall of posters/stickers. There is also a variety of seating, such as traditional bar, tall tables, and a few couches. The beer selection is large and runs the gamut. They also have a decent wine selection. I enjoyed the hazy on tap as well as a couple different sours. I also tried a 13.5% oak-barrel-aged beer that was pretty out there and heavy. My German friend was surprised by all the German-stylized coasters and glasses. The bartender was pretty cool. He was easygoing and funny, and gave some nice pointers about the beer. This spot also has a huge bottle/can selection and does growlers too. I have to say this is one of the most eclectic, high-quality tap rooms I’ve been to in quite some time.

Hey there! My girlfriend and I had a fantastic experience at Post No Bills craft beer house. When we walked in, Evan warmly greeted us. They offer a wide variety of craft beers and ciders, and Evan kindly let us taste some before choosing. They also have a great selection of canned options. While they don't sell food, you can bring your own or order delivery. Overall, it's a wonderful spot to grab a drink. Cheers!

This little known taphouse, hidden in the heart of Sand City is a local favorite. Owner Kai and the rest of his ‘beertenders’ offer a Cheers-like atmosphere among the regulars, always friendly and open for good conversation. Post has a rotating array of taps with something for everyone. In a world currently dominated by IPA’s, Post No Bills always has an eclectic variety, no matter what you’re interested in. And if the taplist doesn’t thrill your gorilla, there’s probably over two hundred selections in cans and bottles. They have a nice patio for warmer days and I’ve never seen the bathrooms less than clean. They regularly have food trucks outside to help sober up if you’ve overestimated your alcohol to blood level ratio! And every month they have a tap takeover, usually offering special to go four packs, coupled with a draft and collectors glass for a little over $20. There are tv’s available for game day and Happy Hour offerings every day but Saturday. The only negative is that the place does get packed on the weekends, but it honestly only adds to the charm.

Brewery
Nestled in the heart of Seaside, CA, Other Brother Beer Co. is a vibrant brewpub that perfectly captures the essence of community and relaxation. With its industrial-chic design and inviting interior beer garden, this taproom offers a delightful atmosphere for friends to gather over refreshing craft beers and delicious snacks like pizza slices and pretzels. The space is bathed in natural light, making it an ideal spot to unwind while enjoying one of their two dog-friendly patios.
Pretty standard local brewery experience. Good eats, decent beer selection, big open seating options, and trivia nights. Food was decent, burgers and stuff. I got the smash burger and it was filling. They take an interesting take on the cheese fries, but they were pretty good. Location wasn’t bad, plenty of seating although I could see if getting crowded quickly. Staff was nice, provided good recommendations.

Came here for the first time for a pride dance party. The set up for the dance party (sound system) was a bit haphazard since it’s not an actual night club but it was good vibes! And also the interior decor was rly nice so I think I’d return for regular chilling

This is place is not as good as it may seem. Came here after a 6 hour drive from LA and my buddy and I were starving for some burgers and beers. I ordered a chicken sandwich that looked promising to eat and after the first bite I was disappointed. No flavor and no desire to eat. Just ate the chicken and called it a day. My buddy had the smash burger and was quite unimpressed with the taste as well. The size of the pour of beer for the price isnt even worth it. Yall are better off going to Bdubs across the street.

My partner and I had an amazing visit to Other Brother as we swung through Seaside for a night. Austin and Nick were great to chat to & made us feel super comfortable straight away. The beers were also top notch! All round a must visit!

Local brewery also serving food. The place is great, with plenty of seating and board games available. The beers were great ! The food was fresh, super good and generous portion! A great place to stop at after a day in the sand

We have had beer and appetizers here twice now and it dies not disappoint! Delicious beer, absolutely delicious food and very kind staff! We will be back! The loaded nachos are so good! As well as the onion rings!
Jordan L — Google review
It was a great place, spacious and open concept with picnic-style tables in the middle. It could use just a little sweeping up of the floors and tidying up in general, and maybe a fresh coat of paint to make it appear a bit cleaner, thus the 4 stars. But, if you are a lover of a good beer you should give this place a try. They have a very good selection of craft brews. They also offer a small selection of comfort food which I thought was great. We ate chicken salad and grilled cheese with tomato soup and didn’t drink on an empty stomach. And still, I felt this great IPA kicked in right away! Mission accomplished
Luba K — Google review
Is there a better place is Seaside to grab craft beer? I personally don’t think so. Yeah, you can sit in the dim lighting of BWW’s and drink big brand ‘craft’ beer that’s been produced and pressurized months ago. Or you can drink locally made, fresh, small batch, craft beer. Calling Other Brother upscale isn’t a bad thing, but if you’re traveling from a big city, maybe that definition wouldn’t fit. But in Seaside, Other Brother is a nice reprieve from our normal small town business. Modern, but casual, OtherBrother offers outdoor seating in an uncovered patio area if vitamin D capture or people watching are your forte. Inside, there’s ample seating including at the bar, or also a secondary bar that faces the street with open windows to experience the cool breeze. They usually have at least twelve beers in tap, there’s always something to take home with you whether merchandise or cold cans are your preference. They’ve recently renovated their kitchen, and while I’ve yet to try it, the specials sounded tantalizing. Their beer is good. As a relatively new brewery, they’ve improved vastly over the past few years. They’re always promoting live events and music acts, supporting local bands and artists. Stop in and check them out.

Tipsy Putt is a unique mini golf spot that offers craft beer and Mexican food, catering to adults while still welcoming all ages until the evening. It's perfect for team building events, birthday parties, or casual get-togethers. The Monterey location had a successful grand opening with fun games like mini golf and 1-2 putt, along with a great selection of cocktails on tap. The staff received high praise for their excellent customer service, making the experience even more enjoyable.
Great atmosphere there is even an outdoor fire pit space to sit at. Tons of beer options great drink options lots of places sit tons of TVs with different sporting events playing amazing food and some cool tabletop golf games as well as a miniature golf downstairs

Great spot for a quick bite to eat. Tacos were ok. Not restaraunt quality but they tasted alright. We enjoyed playing the free games they have. Downstairs is a mini golf area. The vibe is inviting and fun. The service was good and food was ready promptly.

I came here after finding a great deal on Groupon, and I’m so glad I did! The customer service was excellent. I forgot the name of the staff member who helped us — he had long blonde hair and was wearing a hat that night — but he was extremely friendly and helpful in guiding us through the beer selections. The atmosphere was great, and this place is definitely worth checking out if you’re visiting Monterey! 🍻
Guadalupe R — Google review
This place is fun and has great service.. we did the 1-2 putt and it was fun but intimidating at first... The lower level has the golf but we didn't go down due to being heavy with kids. Summertime!! Although golf down below is also fun. We really love coming here when we visit and hang out for the week.

Best part of my stay in monterrey. Vibes were a little run down and music was all over the place but thats all part of what made it a great experience. Played a round of mini golf and games and had a great time
Lauren K — Google review
The food was above average, the golf course facilities weren't that great but they were still manageable, the service was friendly and attentive, and the bar atmosphere made you feel like you were in a club.
Tyler K — Google review
I'll say that this Tipsy Putt doesn't compare at all to the one we went to in Denver, Colorado. This is an incredible bar, awesome place to get drinks with the boys (or girls), but its not much of mini golf place. This seems more like a bar started by bros who love golf and beer. We really enjoyed our time here, but thought it more of a bar with a few small mini golf holes. Prices were high but Monterrey is a huge touristy area, so its to be expected. We would definitely come back, but more for the environment than the mini golf.
Hunter J — Google review
We had a great evening playing the mini golf, the 1-2 putt and other games. We had a couple of drinks and the food was fresh and delicious. Lexi was on the bar, she was really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Totally recommend. 😊

Studio Cafe is a charming and cozy hangout nestled in a garden oasis, offering an array of coffee, tea, and gluten-free baked goods. Located along the walking trail between Wave Street and Cannery Row, this hidden gem provides a peaceful patio where visitors can savor their beverages. The cafe also features a heated stone bench for chilly days. In addition to serving locally roasted coffee and a variety of teas, Studio Cafe offers a delightful selection of gluten-free treats.
Studio Cafe is a special little treat tucked into a cute courtyard off the back, lower side of Wave Street. As a gluten free, highly discerning coffee drinker, we found this this place to be amazing! We lucked out and got the chocolate cherry muffins which were fresh from the oven! Sooo good that we bought two more to take home. The pour over coffee was rich, dark and super smooth made from freshly ground beans. Mmmmmm good! Perfect way to spend a morning!!
Stephanie S — Google review
This shop has a cute, quiet setting on a back patio of a music studio. But truly, that’s all it has going for it. The staff wasn’t exactly rude, but apathetic would be putting it nicely. On top of that, the menu is very limited, with no espresso, no flavor options, and no baked goods other than a few stale-looking cookies. Plus, the cold brew was awful—tasted more like dirty water than a premium coffee. We will not be returning.
Dbruington — Google review
Cute little neighborhood cafe! We dropped by Studio Cafe in the middle of a tour of Monterey Bay Aquarium and were quite pleased by how cute and cozy our caffeine pit stop was! Studio Cafe has a lovely selection of different beans, all made in their pourover station. I love that they list out the flavor profiles for each bean type, and the staff is more than willing to help you find what best suits your tastes. I got one of their darker roasts, featuring rich and nutty flavors and low brightness (my favorite). We enjoyed our beverages in the lovely outdoor patio space, which also features a koi pond and pet turtle. They also have a few gluten free goodies, including two types of muffins and a brownie. They’re tasty, especially for something gluten free. All in all — loved this spot and highly recommend for anyone looking for a cozy spot in Monterey, especially if you want a bit of a reprieve from the touristy spots!

A very endearing place, part coffee/tea house and part yoga studio. On the coffee front they do a range of excellent pour overs, though no lattes. Really great tea selection, and you can purchase some home too. The peaceful little courtyard up front is super charming.

Adalina A — Google review
Good coffee, locally roasted and a variety of teas. A cozy place along the bike pedestrian trail, away from the busy street of cannery row. I wish they have more than just coffee and teas. It would be great if they have good muffins, paninis or sandwiches. Slow drip coffees are great but if you like it very hot, by the time you get it, it's not that hot anymore.

What a hidden gem! Located in the walking trail between Wave Street and Cannery Row, we found a quaint little spot that served delicious pour over coffee and various teas. They also served gluten free treats that were fresh and delicious. The owner was very welcoming and the server was also very helpful in guiding us on what to order. No only did we get delicious coffee, tea, and treats but we also got a little tour of his studio. Lastly there is actually heated concrete seating that kept us warm while enjoying the serene atmosphere of the patio and fish pond. We will definitely stop by again the next time we visit Monterey.

Compact Disco is a trendy nightclub in downtown Monterey that offers a unique experience. By day, it's a HiFi listening room with a tropical disco atmosphere, and by night, it transforms into a discotheque-inspired lounge. The venue has successfully turned around from its unsuccessful speakeasy days and now offers an authentic and low-key vibe. The owner and manager are known for their friendly and welcoming attitude towards guests, making everyone feel at home.
I am cross posting from Yelp because of how great of an experience I had! I came out to Monterey for my birthday with my family. I wanted to go out one night dancing and came across Compact Disco and thought I'd check it out since I love house and disco music. I went by myself on a Friday, early, around 7, and there was only a few folks around until 10. The interior immediately reminded me of clubs in Berlin. The bartender Jam was super friendly. Overall very cute, a little divey, reasonably priced drinks, and most folks who showed up early tend to be there to dance. I wish I had a place like this closer to me to go out sometimes. Highly recommend getting there before 9!
Christine N — Google review
I’m from NYC and am big into the nightlife there and was itching to dance while in town for work. I immediately felt welcomed by the staff, and taken in for the entire week I was there. I was shown THE best time and hospitality. I literally went every night. I wish I could transport this to NYC. Thank you guys so much for making my trip!!
Emily Q — Google review
Came here with a friend and I loved the interior decor and how it’s set up. Music was omnipresent (super loud but the way it should be for a clubby feel). Unfortunately they have rules about no requests for the music and the entire thing is themed around strictly house music, which can be very repetitive. Not my personal favorite so we dipped after like an hour, but everything else was on point. Just personal preference.
Roo L — Google review
The only nice thing about this place was the bouncer and he still charged us an arm & a leg. Unfortunately, the baffling $20 cover charge was real: Our group paid that wild cover charge for: • Mid music. • BYOA (Bring Your Own Atmosphere). Feels like none of the staff wants you to be there. Customers are treated like an inconvenience • Wrong drinks. Yes, the bartenders will attempt to under serve or throw you whatever is most convenient for them to make and it is usually watered down. • Bathrooms worse than Kolkata in July-- you cannot convince me they've been cleaned within the last quarter. All in all, heed the 1 star reviews. You're better off drinking at home.
L. B — Google review
I love the staff and the vibe here. And the rotation of house DJs are excellent. Cover prices are minimal, if any depending on the night and the DJ that they are hosting. Craft cocktails and beers and seltzers all reasonably priced made by excellent mixologists like George, Trent,Jake, and Jam. And I always feel safe as the door guys Jesse and Matt keep the place at a chill level and treat all the locals like family. Kenny the owner also loves to spontaneously put out charcuterie or pasta or pizza free of charge during the week nights. The love for this place and the inclusion of this place for tourists and locals alike is so amazing! Sometimes on the weekends because this place is so amazing they can reach capacity easily, but sometimes the best places and people are worth waiting for, or maybe pre purchase your cover if available, show up early on weekends, or simply come during the week for the snacks and more chill week night vibe, as they still have a DJ Tuesdays- Sundays! If you gone or have gone before before sure to leave a review and show your love and appreciation for this place and the staff!
Casey M — Google review
I think people should really understand two things when considering this place- Compact Disco is dedicated to house music first and foremost, and the place is small, hence the name. I will say as a person who loves house music, I am grateful for it, because our 'city' is really quite small with limited options for music, especially dance music. I like the vibe almost every time I go and I like most of the crowd I meet. The staff are friendly and the drinks are always solid. The DJs you will see here are DJs that are in high demand across the US and Europe, people like Victor Simonelli, DJ Colette, Patrick Wilson and Doc Martin. Is it for everyone? Maybe not, but if you like to dance and enjoy a good vibe, this place delivers it.
Jamie L — Google review
Compact Disco is one of my favorite places to go in Monterey County. I’m all about vibes and good energy and this place is it! The music is always on point. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend <3
Alicia H — Google review
I began attending CD regularly in June after relocating to Monterey. Initially, I had no issue with the $20 cover charge at the door. However, I’ve recently observed inconsistent and seemingly preferential treatment by the Friday night bouncer and the other rude guy on Saturdays. Specifically, I’m consistently charged full price while my friends who accompany me and frequent the venue just as often are often waived through without payment. When I inquired about the discrepancy, I was told it was because they are “regulars.” I found this puzzling, as we all attend together and with similar frequency. The bouncer then added that locals receive a discount, which again felt arbitrary and poorly communicated. To be clear, my concern isn’t about the cover charge itself, it’s about the lack of professionalism and the favoritism being shown. As a result, my friends and I have chosen to support other venues that treat patrons with fairness and respect. It’s unfortunate, but if this pattern continues, I wouldn’t be surprised to see CD lose its loyal customer base.

This was third time my husband and I tried the Whiskey Bar. The first time it was a good experience. Experienced staff and excellent tasting. The second time we went in the staff was very inexperienced. Crackers in packages were old and stale. When asked for fresh ones the reply was that was all he had. No offer of anything else. We went back for the third and LAST time yesterday. A cool rainy day in the middle of the week. We weren’t sure if we wanted a drink or a tasting. We weren’t sure approached by a lady who appears to be the manager. Asked if she could help us. We said we weren’t sure. Asked us if we had been in before. Yes, we will let you know. Three times asked if we wanted sparkling or still water. We told her we weren’t sure approached good since we had just come from eating lunch. We sat down and my husband was looking at a menu to decide what her wanted. Again asked what we wanted and she said to us, “Well, I can’t help you if you won’t let me.” When we told her we weren’t sure approached good she told the waitress to bring us some water. Which we had said we didn’t want. She then turned and acted miffed. My husband was going to order a shot of Wellers but by this point we were som uncomfortable at the managers treatment we left. We have been in several high end tasting rooms over the years and always had a great experience. Don’t go here. Take your money some place else.

We are vacationing here for the weekend and came two nights in a row because we loved it so much. Great place for a night cap. AUSTIN was great with us. Knew his stuff and had great recommendations and just an easy going guy to talk to. We met the owner (didn’t get his name)but you can tell he loves his business. He says hello to everyone and makes sure everyone is taken care of. If youre a fan of whiskey or just not feeling beer this is a great spot to go to after dinner if you’re ending your night or if you’re going to go somewhere else. Very pleased with the service and staff.

A huge selection of whiskeys. The cocktails are decent, but I expected more cause it is not priced well. Rather have a big clear than a few ice cubes. Otherwise, the service is great.

Rhett and his family whom built this magnificent building from the ground up 20+ years ago are Monterey Bay locals, have preserved its historical significance and poured their creativity, intention and energy into every aspect of this special place. I was lucky enough to celebrate my Vietnamese Wedding Tea Ceremony in 2012 and my 40th Birthday in 2025 both at Wave Street Studios! Two very special occasions. With six state-of-the-art Trackman golf simulators featuring over 100 courses, you can enjoy an immersive golfing experience while sipping on local beers or craft cocktails.
Edit: Been back many times & always have a blast. They have many fun events throughout the week like Live Bands on Friday Nights, Trivia on Thursdays, and Karaoke! Soo excited that Links Club has finally opened! It’s just what Carmel needed. Where else can you hits balls, watch sports, and drink?! Stopped in with my friends this weekend and we had so much fun. Top of the line golf suites, great and well-priced beverages, and a funky, delicious menu. We will definitely be back here for more good times.

Carmel is slow on Wednesday nights, but it's cookin' for golf simulation and Karaoke (you're great Marco!) until ten at the Links in Carmel by the Sea behind the Tiffany's store! Wednesday is wings specials and Taco Tuesday ($5 & $3) and happy hour menus, really good tacos. The brisket, carne asada, and carnitas are my favorites but others like the chicken and artichoke as well. The simulators have classic golf courses as well as cartoon courses.

This place is really cool. Came in to kill some time with friends and we had a blast. We were able to bring our clubs. Stayed for a couple hours. Service is great and drinks are good. Great new spot in the Carmel Plaza on the first level for golf enthusiasts and those new to the game. The entrance is near Mission. Huge facility that can host multiple parties at once. I tried some of the food and drink and it was excellent and they will keep updating as time goes on. My friend and I hit some balls for an hour and had a great time exploring different courses on their virtual golf course using Trackman technology. I can get analysis of my swing and other data from our session. They even have some PGA professionals available for instruction if needed. What a great new addition to the community for locals and visitors. The staff was friendly and eager to help guests feel welcomed and have a good time. Definitely a great stop for your visit to Carmel and a great spot for regulars like me working on my swing or hosting friends and colleagues. Update May 2021: returned with a good friend to have lunch and golf a bit. The pork belly and tempura yams were great as was the Asian chicken salad. The simulator was fun playing St Andrew’s and the provided clubs did the trick. Hoping to come back with an instructor or use the in-house instructors to improve my game.

Was told this place been around 3 years. For the first time coming here and it saves you a long trip to top golf if your close to the area. On top of that the hospitality was amazing along with enjoying the live band. For living here all my life and have seen many places like this be taken from us is a shame. So I highly recommend trying this place out before driving hours away to experience a friendly indoor fun golfing experience and many other daily things to do in such a beautiful area. Very nice clean environment. Seen people brings there kids to whole families just coming for the live band food and enjoyment of the environment. Highly recommended this place for future trips or just people who want something new to do in a place we are so used to the normal things to do. Didn’t see any unhappy people in the hours I spent enjoying everything myself along with viewing the groups of people coming to enjoy a little bit of it all to just dinning with the live band. Will be a great place to come any day of the week especially since summer is right around the corner Come and see Evan and Eric great service and made my time easy, fun and enjoyable.

Fun place to go with a group. I enjoyed the driving range side. Then we had the other side for a game to practice chip shots. Happy hour drinks and food.

If you're on the hunt for a vibrant nightlife experience in Pacific Grove, look no further than POP & HISS. This trendy spot combines a record store with a lively bar atmosphere, featuring an impressive selection of vinyl and rotating DJs that keep the energy high. With themed trivia nights at nearby venues like Other Brother Beer Co. and Tipsy Putt, there's plenty to engage your mind before you unwind here.
I didn't think Pacific Grove was capable of permitting a place this cool. The staff were all friendly and welcoming, and the overall vibe is well created but unpretentious. Very excited that it's no longer necessary to drive to Monterey just to grab a drink after 8pm. I really hope that this is the start of a new era for downtown PG!
Hayden L — Google review
Its a fine spot and had a fine atmosphere but five dollars for a cover charge is kind of steep and I was charged my friends cover charge without them even asking. I got a diet coke and I was taken aback by a 15 dollar price tag. Next time I go to an event I think I'll just listen to the music without getting a drink.
Bryan S — Google review
Where's Pop 'n' Hiss? It's that shop across the street from Grove Market with no signage and ugly curtains, that's only open 4 days a week. Open the record store every day to promote your bar and events. Otherwise, it's just a place for aging hipsters paying too much to drink and listen to records.
Scott R — Google review
Definitely the coolest spot in PG. There is a great record selection and a rotating group of DJs that play the small space. There is a small seating area and bar with local beers and a good selection of cocktails and wine.
Aaron P — Google review
This is a cool new nightlife spot with a record store in front and dj and full bar and patio in the back. The DJ on wed and thur nights brings in a lot of industry people and they serve hot dogs! Amazing new PG nightlife spot!

Really fun atmosphere, pretty kitch little place with a nice vibe and good drinks!

Feels like every time I come in there there's something going on. Trivia, live music, etc. Real nice to have this kind of place in the community

Characters Sports Bar & Grill is a popular gathering spot located in the Marriott Hotel, offering a casual American menu and an extensive selection of drinks. With multiple big-screen TVs, including plasma and 19-inch options, it's the perfect place to catch all the games while enjoying great drink specials. Despite occasional service issues, many visitors appreciate the delicious food and hospitable bartenders. On select Saturday nights, guests can also enjoy live jazz performances with excellent mixed drinks and top-notch service.
Open every-other Saturday night. Delicious mixed drinks and one of the best jazz bands I've ever heard; seriously, this band was made up of virtuosos. The decor/seating set up was really cool too.

Enjoyed a great night of life Latin Jazz this weekend at Characters. Drinks were delicious and service excellent
Rosemary B — Google review
Great drink specials, great food, and great service! Came from out of town and wanted a good place for Sunday football. They play every game and had a bloody Mary and burrito bar to die for. Bartender was super hospitable and took great care of us. We ate, we drank... Definitely coming back!
Katie M — Google review
The set up is perfect, you can watch almost all the games from one table. The service every time I go is horrible. It always takes so long for a server to come to you, Ive even had to waive one down after waiting 10 minutes. I ordered food and it took 30 minutes to come out-an appetizer. The attitude of the servers is also very poor. If your only there for watching the games though its great.

Decent food but great service! !!! EJ is the man and will take care of you. I will be back. Soon

Food wasn't anything special. I didn't want to come back after that first visit. Lacks beer variety.

The Salty Seal Brewpub and Sports Bar is a rustic sports bar housed in a 1929 building, offering English bar bites and local draft beers. Visitors rave about the fantastic fish chowder and fresh fish and chips with a great batter. The staff is described as extremely friendly, providing great service even during short staffing and limited menu options. Guests enjoyed tasty drinks, strong cocktails, delicious nachos, and crispy fries. The atmosphere is lively with good banter between staff and customers.
Cool vibes. You can shoot pool or throw darts in the front bar area. They had the football game on the large screen TVs. In the back was open seating for food and drinks. Pool cost $2 a game. They had a good beer selection. I their red and my wife got a pilsner.
Robert D — Google review
Cute sports bar with really good food! Service was a little on the slower side, but overall a really good experience. We got the fish tacos and barbecue pork belly and garlic fries! We also got a prickly pear cocktail and I forget the other name of the drink but a cocktail with rum.
Julia H — Google review
Fun place for a bite and cocktail. Their menu advertised a traditional Bermuda Fish Chowder, and I was all in. I had the chowder with the splash of black rum and sherry pepper sauce (love the stuff), my SIL had the Mexican Street Corn Soup and we shared the Sticky Bourbon Pork Belly appetizer. We loved everything and will definitely go back when we are in town again. The only thing we didn't like is the door to the patio area was open and a very chilly breeze came through the whole time we were there. We didn't stay, but they were setting up for live music when we headed out. Definitely recommended for a comforting and fairly reasonably priced meal and drinks.

One of the worst burgers I’ve ever had. No effort was put on to it bacon was burnt to a crisp patty was also burnt as well. Bathrooms are also terrible. For a $24 burger I definitely would expect more. Much better spots in the area trust me! I also heard they have new ownership so that might play a role in this
Kenneth T — Google review
Fish and chips were good (but huge) for around $25. Service was slow despite it being nearly empty. I liked the cozy booths but it didn't really have a warm atmosphere.
Kristina P — Google review
Love the live events. They are egregiously understaffed making it an awful experience. Does not fall on the servers but a core fault in the managment of the business. Waited about 40 minutes in line only for them to say come remind me if I forget your food. Big surprise took another 50 minutes to get my food after what I wanted(was on the menu) “is no longer served”. Sounds like it was much better run…previously.

This was a really fun place to hang out! I have to admit initially I was a bit skeptical about going to Cannery Row on a Friday night, as I'm more interested in where the locals go than tourists. But my friend and I met up with her friend she knew that lives in the area, and it was where he suggested we meet up. I was glad that we did. I accidentally left my phone in the car, so I walked back by myself to go get it and felt perfectly safe walking alone without a phone or protection (until of course I had my phone in case of an emergency, which of course I didn't). When I got back, I asked the waitress (sadly, I could not recall her name, but she was very helpful and attentive. Sweet blonde young lady) what she recommended for my one drink, as did my friend I was visiting with. I decided on one of her recommendations, the prickly pear margarita. It was delicious! It's not the strongest drink I ever had, but it's definitely worth mentioning. I also ordered a virgin one, as I was driving. To be fair, I really could have had a second one, as I ate quite a bit, and like I mentioned, the drink wasn't very strong. I also let my friend try my drink as I tried hers as well. I can't recall exactly what she had, but it was blue and I believe had vodka in it. It was the drink listed next to mine on the menu. It was also good. But personally, I'm a margarita girl, so it's not one I would normally order. The guy we met up with (my friends friend, I just met that night) had a rum and coke. I didn't try it, as for one, I've had them before and more so, I didn't know him. So I can not say as to his drink. But it looked good. I had the cod chowder specially made by them with their original recipe and a grilled cheese sandwich. It was very tasty! Not at all what I expected. But it's definitely worth ordering again. My friend said she had been there before and tried it and didn't like it when she had it a few years back. So you never know. I knew going in that it was tomato based and not cream based, which was why she didn't care for it. She had the pork belly and fries along with clam chowder. I didn't try her clam chowder, but it looked good. The pork belly and fries were probably my favorite thing I ate. Next time, it's definitely going to be my order! The BBQ sauce alone was noteworthy! The other person we were with had a grilled cheese sandwich, so I'd say it was probably pretty good. I then had to have dessert, because that's become kinda my thing. And I had the cheesecake after asking the waitress what she recommended. That was HEAVENLY! It was nice and rich and completely delicious! Another item I'm definitely ordering again! There was live music on the patio along with what looked like a fire pit. A bunch of people playing pool in another section and all in all a great atmosphere. It's certainly somewhere I will go back to when I'm back in Monterey!

I wanted to like this place more than I did. The staff are very friendly and the vibes were great. I did feel the service was a bit slow, I had to flag down the waitress so we could pay and leave. I got the dark and stormy drink and I actually hated it. My first sip was straight rum and it didn't mix well. The glass barrel was cool I guess. The saving grace was the food, which was pretty good.
