Southern restaurant (US)
American restaurant
Seafood restaurant
Plums Restaurant in Beaufort, South Carolina is a casual down-home eatery that offers American cuisine and seafood. It also transforms into a live-music venue on certain nights. Located in downtown Beaufort, this waterfront dining spot provides a relaxed atmosphere and scenic views, making it an inviting destination for visitors. The restaurant has received praise for its delightful culinary offerings and inviting ambiance.
Waterfront Brunch in a really nice City owned park. Beautiful weather for dining outside. We had an almost perfect day! You really need to visit here.
Meredith G — Google review
Good food, good drinks. But, not enough staff. Waited 10 minutes to be seated, 15 minutes to get a waitress, and 30 minutes for food. Semi friendly waitress. Can be seated on back porch, inside or at bar area. Pay Parking on street. Other restaurants in proximity. Plums is open for Lunch only.
Sherrie P — Google review
My dining experience at Plum in Beaufort was disappointing, with the food falling below expectations and a billing issue that left a negative impression. The hamburger was a standout, well-prepared and flavorful, making it a bright spot in the meal. However the shrimp po’ boy, which I was eager to try, was a major letdown. The bread was a stark white instead of the golden, crispy texture you’d expect from a well-made po’ boy, and it lacked any notable flavor, making the dish feel flat. The shrimp and grits were equally unimpressive, missing the rich, soulful taste that defines this Southern staple. Overall, the food quality didn’t live up to the charm of Beaufort’s dining scene. Additionally, we were charged an automatic tip without clear notification, leading us to tip again unknowingly. This lack of transparency was frustrating and felt deceptive. Plum has potential given its location, but the kitchen needs to focus on improving dish execution—starting with properly baked, flavorful bread—and the staff should be upfront about billing practices. I hope they address these issues to elevate the experience for future guests.

What a nice southern sandwich shop with a relaxed vibe. They offer chicken salad and shrimp salad sandwiches or plates, Po Boys (both shrimp and Friend Flounder versions), salads and several other dishes. I highly recommend their shrimp salad plate as well as their pork dumpling appetizer served with bacon jam. They have both indoor seating as well as outdoor patio seating overlooking the water and marina. Highly recommended!
Mark C — Google review
We were visiting Beaufort, SC for the first time and stopped in Plums for lunch on a rainy day! Perfect gumbo, shrimp and grits, atmosphere and service!
Tracy R — Google review
This was my and my three friends' first visit to Plum's but it won't be our last! The waterfront setting on the patio was gorgeous. It was difficult to select from the menu as every item looked delicious. The chicken curry salad sandwich was to die for. I sampled my three friends' sandwiches and they were also delicious. The highlight however was our gracious server Amy. She was professional and personable and went beyond the call of duty satisfying our every and many requests from additional ice, to go boxes to name just two. She made our visit extra special. She is indeed a valuable asset to Plum's. Thanks again, Amy. Hope to see you again soon.
Debbie Z — Google review
I recommend Plum’s Restaurant in Beaufort, SC. The food is good quality at reasonable prices. The restaurant has dog-friendly seating in the patio area. The patio area is highly desirable on days of temperate weather. My wife requested the chicken salad plate but it had sold out by 1:00PM. She had the curried chicken salad which she said was excellent. I had the fried shrimp and an appetizer. It was good. The view from the patio was very nice.

We had the most amazing server we’ve ever had in our 31 years on this planet. Christie was the most kindest, genuine sweetest server. She was attentive she was engaging. She was charismatic. I want to come back here over and over again just to have Christie as our server will definitely come back. The food was great. The service was fantastic. Exactly what you’re expecting when you come to a restaurant!

Located in the heart of Beaufort, South Carolina, Old Bull Tavern is a charming gastropub that offers a warm and intimate atmosphere. The restaurant is known for its New American comfort fare and specialty cocktails, providing an unforgettable dining experience. With an unassuming exterior, the tavern surprises patrons with exceptional service and delectable cuisine. It has garnered praise for its commitment to excellence and has been ranked highly on various platforms.
What a wonderful experience my wife and I had on our last day of vacation! We tried to make a reservation a while ago, but the only time available was a 5 PM slot, which we gladly accepted. When we arrived 15 minutes before 5:00, there was already a line of people waiting to get into the restaurant. The doors opened promptly at 5 PM, and everyone was seated quickly. Wow, we both enjoyed a delicious meal, and the service was excellent. My wife ordered the pork chops, and let me tell you, they were delicious—at least from the few bites she shared with me! I had the Angus beef, which was very good, but I think I would have preferred the pork chops my wife had. We also shared the tiramisu for dessert, which was quite tasty as well. I definitely recommend making reservations early and preparing for a delicious meal and a fun evening!
Richard K — Google review
Great food and atmosphere. This place was fun and very unique. This is a amazing hidden gem in a beautiful city. I met one of the owners while looking around the bar. He was very polite, informative, thankful, and fantastic to talk to. I also spoke with one of the female bartenders who was fun to talk to and very informative about the area. I already had dinner but do to the unique menu I chose to order two of their apitizers to take back to my hotel. The appetizers did not disappoint. I will will definitely be back to try their full menu with family/friends! The only reason I rated the food 4/5 is due to not having any of their main dishes to accurately vouch for. When I return and have their full menu with friends/family I will update this post!

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! Derek was amazing and took care of us! We had wonderful pizza and the shrimp ceviche to start, steak for the entree, and several delicious desserts! Plus the espresso martini is the best in town! Old Bull is a must when visiting Beaufort or if you’re a local!

Loved our meal here! Amazing quality and drinks were so fresh. Will definitely be back in the future whenever we're in town!

Dining at Old Bull Tavern was an excellent experience from beginning to end. The menu offers outstanding food prepared with great attention to flavor, and the service was attentive and polished throughout the evening. The warm, welcoming atmosphere made it a truly enjoyable place to spend time. Old Bull Tavern sets a high standard in Beaufort, and I look forward to returning.

Delicious meal!! Had the Housemade Tagliatelle with Bolognese. It was so good! Definitely pappardelle and not tagliatelle, but regardless, may need to have again before we leave Beaufort. My husband said his pizza was also very good. Tarimizu was also delicious! Please leave off the nuts though! Sat at the bar and had great service!
Dorothy D — Google review
Can hold up to any gastropub anywhere. Seriously.. ANYWHERE. Creative and well-executed dishes. Unique ingredients and flavor combination. My garnishment veggies were superb. Carrots were subtly sweet. Steak was done as requested (though teres major should be a tad above rare. That was my fault, as they nailed it with a perfect sear and beautiful presentation. Pasta was homemade and perfectly al dente. Creamy sauce was brightened with fresh lemon. Super hospitality. I've heard it described as 'Charleston at half the price.' Probably accurate.
Jan K — Google review
We were sat at a table that every person hit me trying to walk by. Food was ok but nothing to write home about. Not worth the price tag but my husband wanted corn beef. He enjoyed his but my fettuccine was just decent. We asked for a substitute for mashed potatoes which they were happy to accommodate for an "upcharge". We asked for double green beans and he brought green beans and carrots. A good waiter would have caught that especially since we were charged extra for it. My husband doesn't like to let them know of mistakes since he has seen movie "Waiting", so we paid extra for something we never got. Im all for paying more for a good meal. If you want to set yourself up in that category then don't nickel and dime your customers, get them the right order and maybe offer a bread at the onset.

The restaurant prides itself on using locally grown and sourced ingredients to create delectable dishes. Whether you're in the mood for a meal or just want to enjoy a drink, Wren provides a great selection of microbrews and wines.
Lovely dinner with a friend. Our server Jessica was great! Attentive and friendly. We both had vodka martinis that were done to perfection. I felt that it was a bit too warm inside, but it was pretty crowded. Food was excellent. We had the pecan chicken and a roasted mushroom flatbread.

On a Sat night there were four of us dinning. We arrived earlier than our res to have drinks at the bar. Renee took care of us there and also at our table. For starters, we shared Pimento Cheese and Garlic Shrimp plates (my favorite & will be coming back just for that!). We had the Mahi, Flounder, & 2 Pork entrees, all of which were delicious! Excellent food & service!

Stopped by for lunch. We always manage to stop here when we come through Beaufort SC. Again we weren't disappointed. Enjoyed a fresh chicken salad platter and a wonderful fish taco dish with pickled onions and chips with guacamole dip. Still an excellent choice for a meal in this town.
Michael B — Google review
Great place! I sat at the bar for a solo dinner. Bartender was attentive and friendly. I ordered the Mahi which came out quickly and was delicious. Will definitely be back when in the area

Great local fried flounder. Not too much batter covered in light chutney was perfect. Great service. Oh the lemon creme pie was really good too. My wife’s hamburger was great. I’m stuffed. Reasonable bill, good drinks and heavy pour
Doug R — Google review
Delicious food and wonderful service! Our waitress was very attentive and helpful. The fried flounder was huge, fried perfectly and the rice mix was super tasty! Lots of flavor. The mahi special was excellent - the sauce is so good even on its own. The shrimp appetizer is delicious too - the sauce is addictive. The cheesecake was great - some of the best I’ve ever had! The Italian cake is crazy good - so light and sweet! Burger is tasty too - def worth it when they do a special
F J — Google review
A very nice and hip place to have a meal. My husband and I happened upon Wren at an in-between time (3-5 p.m.). So the menu wasn't as full with options as we would have liked however there was still plenty to choose from. It took a little while to get seated but once someone saw us waiting they were friendly and attentive. My first choice item on the menu was sold out so I settled for soup instead. My husband ordered a burger and we split the fried green tomatoes. Everything was cooked well and presented nicely. The sauce on the fried green tomatoes was a little overpowering for the delicate tomato flavor and the whipped goat cheese made the crust a little soft. The atmosphere was amazing. It was comfortable and conducive to conversation. If we had visited a bit later in the day I would have loved to try one of their cocktails as they looked delicious. We would definitely go back to try the dinner menu. A great place to take a date or to have some upscale food.
Susan P — Google review
The service was excellent and the food overall was petty good. The shrimp and grits were probably the best I've ever had. The crispy fried flounder was good, however there was too much of the corn and black bean relish. The relish overpowered the flounder. The wild mushroom flatbread was also very good. The sams pasta was ok just a little lacking in flavor.

Southern restaurant (US)
Bar
Nestled in downtown Beaufort, South Carolina, the Breakwater Restaurant & Bar is a must-visit for those seeking an elegant and contemporary dining experience. The warm eatery offers a seasonal menu featuring sophisticated Southern dishes and fresh seafood, complemented by a lively bar atmosphere. Renowned for its culinary excellence, this establishment provides an unforgettable dining experience that captures the essence of Southern charm and hospitality.
We had a great dinner this evening at this restaurant celebrating that we get to see our new Marine tomorrow. It was a perfect evening. I would describe the atmosphere as upscale but not pretentious at all. All the servers were very friendly. Our server, Michelle, who was so sweet and attentive, made my night when she said they have espresso martinis. Having tried this drink at quite a few places, their's is my new favorite. Very smooth with all the flavors blending together just right. The food was delicious. I had the fried shrimp and the brown butter cornbread. My husband had the grilled beef tenderloin. Both of which were wonderful. I highly recommend dining here.

My wife and I made reservations early during the week and I can speak for her when I say that we LOVED the experience! All around the board, it was truly AWESOME! Thank you, Chef Rae, Brianna, and the rest of the staff that made our evening possible, I'm truly sorry that I don't know your names but by no means are you left out. We will definitely be back! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

My husband & I absolutely enjoyed our anniversary dinner there. The salmon & the swordfish were impeccable, complimented by the beans & sauces, full of flavor. There was a nice selection of wine & we loved the dessert.
Maria D — Google review
On a visit to Beaufort, SC we tried out some local restaurants. Although this restaurant has a fantastic atmosphere and great view of the river, we were disappointed in the food quality and prep. The rack of lamb was overcoated with a thick peppery, salty coating of some kind, and the meat was served medium rare to rare. The manager did compensate us because I really could not finish it. The other meal was a blackened Mahi which was average and a very small portion for the prices we paid. I wish them well and hope that they have better trained kitchen staff in the future.
Lynn B — Google review
Melt in your mouth grouper, explosion of flavors the dish as a whole. Shrimp and succotash was quite unique but worked to perfection. Loved the strawberry cookie, presented with a candle for our birthday girl.
Greg J — Google review
We’re on a roadtrip across the country, and google reviews are our map. Stayed at Emerald Stay (5+) and walked down to Breakwater for diner. Reviews were high, and definitely well deserved - hostess was epitome of southern charm, sever was Gabby, and she too embodied South Carolina’s famous hospitality. Decent wine menu, good fried tomatoes….BUT the fried chicken with gravy was stellar, all SC fried chicken is delicious, but Breakwater dish was the best I’ve had, crispy fried outside, tender moist inside, smothered in a white gravy (opted out of Nashville) on a bed of mashed potatoes, of course…wife had regional shrimp and grits, also good…..but the fried chicken is worth the two weeks of pain at the gym I promised myself that night.. blueberry cobbler for desert, delicious, only because they didn’t have any peach, paired with a good southern bourbon - thank you Gabby, thank you Breakwater….
Craig K — Google review
We just gave this place a try last night. No reservation and we were still quickly seated (Tuesday around 6:30) our waitress was attentive and knowledgeable. Would return! Recommend trying!
Cindy P — Google review
Excellent cocktails thanks to a talented mixologist. Polish wife was drawn to the Dill-Emma. I had the take on the Manhattan. Very good. Waitress just happened to be from next door to my small MA town. Butter Bean Hummus, Fried Oysters and She-Crab Soup were really good. My wife had the Shrimp & Grits and I had the Swordfish. It was quite good but something - I think the rice - was too salty. The bourbon chocolate cake was a great dessert to end the dinner.

Our experience was wonderful. The flounder was fresh and had a nice batter. The blackened chicken sandwich was tender, juicy, and flavorful. The Crack Fries were outstanding with the perfect amount of seasoning. The onion rings were made perfectly and the sweet potato fries were delicious. The hostess and host were pleasant and the server was sweet, attentive, and helpful. We will certainly add Bricks to our dining list for vacations.

Really promising restaurant, and maybe we caught it on an off night; However, the service was slow and the drinks were not great for the price being charged for them. Don't know why some bartenders think all alcohol is a great thing all the time or why others think that a splash is all you need... The drinks were inconsistent at best. Service was really slow and I had to find someone else to eventually get our check. There isn't much to look at outside and the inside feels stuffy. The food was good though, not the best but definitely not the worst. Not sure I would recommend, I would probably try the other places in the area before heading back here to give them another chance. Maybe the night time with love music is more enjoyable and a better experience.

Shrimp was great! Service was nice and fast. The crack fries were a little hard. I think they were overcooked maybe. Mac and cheese was very bland. Outside area was cute!

After our epic 2+ hours bicycle ride on the nearby Spanish Moss Trail, we were famished! This place was highly rated and we were only 5 minutes away. Hubby had fish n chips. I couldn't take a picture since he gobbled it down so quickly. Between bites, I heard only praise at how awesome his meal was. Generously 3 pieces of fish, served piping hot. I had their house burger: Two fried eggs, fresh tomato, pickles, onions and cheese piled high on a fresh bun and a fat patty cooked perfectly! I always order my fries extra well done and I have never complained if I get them and they are burnt. More often than not, my request is forgotten or ignored, and I end up with regular-cooked spuds, which is what I thought happened during our visit. However.... The lovely and amazing server named Amber, brought us a second order of piping hot extra crispy fries without being asked. :) She apologize that our first order hadn't been quite cooked enough, dropped off the order of fries with a big smile. Awesome! Lots of parking, totally wheelchair, accessible, space outside for dogs to hang out. Good layout, typical bar/eating areas. Looks like there may have been a pool table in there at one point (there's a nice big space for one, but there are tables and chairs instead?). Overall cleanliness, pretty good. I would recommend that the framed pictures at the tables be properly cleaned as there was food splatter on them. Another suggestion: We noticed that the young lady/hostess, who originally seated us, did not give off very friendly/happy vibes. Maybe just an off day for her, but as far as first impression goes, it could've been better. Small discomfort was how cold it was inside... maybe the AC was turned on full blast? Maybe we were just super hot from being outdoors exercising? Brrr... And finally, if we go back, we would not choose a booth seat again. Every time the diners behind us moved, my entire bench would move with them. Annoying. Two thumbs up.

Great service! (Wish I had gotten our servers name.) Food was ok, unique concepts made it good: Lima salad, blue cheese and buffalo sauce on oysters etc. a little heavy handed on the salt..

This is a nice sized restaurant with a river view in downtown Beaufort South Carolina. It is a little older but clean and neat and the noise level is where you can easily converse with the person across from you. Nice choices of food including sushi, so plenty to pick from. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful. Good wine list as well and nice long bar.

This upscale restaurant has a large outdoor seating area with a fire pit that can accommodate large and small groups. The low country baked oysters were incredible - know there are only 5. There was a mishap with our waitress going home and a different waiter, Chris, saved the day. The steak and green beans were cooked well. We were surprised with a delicious cheesecake at the end of our dinner.

We had a reservation for five, which is when they opened. We were greeted right away by the host and promptly sat. Bre was our server and took great care of us. She is a master craftsman as a server and very meticulous. I appreciated her attention to detail and her knowledge of the menu. She had some great recommendations, and all the food turned out amazing!

Saltas river grill Is known to be the most expensive restaurant in Beaufort, South Carolina. We tried this place tonight and the menu is fantastic. My wife had the scallops. My best friend had the 8 Oz stake and I had and I had the mahi mahi or as they called it the corrado, with a crab cake infused potato cake. I found the mai to be undercooked in a bit.Gelatinous in the middle, while my bluecrab infused crab cake shows very little. If any signs are coming blue crab, actually, in it, the borderline false advertising on that one Our bill was very high for the quantity received. I would give it a 3.2 out of 5. My suggestion would point in another direction for recommendation for faimley but couples. It is very nice

Simply loved the Q Burger (6oz Wagyu Beef) sandwich. The wrap comes in a coleslaw in it. The brisket that my friend had was amazing with the dipping sauce. The salad too was great. The fries were fine as well. Great view of sitting outside or close to the door as you can see the sea. Overall a very good experience! Great price as well!

I loved this restaurant! The fried oysters just melted in mouth. I savored each bite of the fried seafood platter. My friend enjoyed his ribs…it has a great location by the water for an after meal stroll. Very welcoming! The waitperson disappeared for a time but apologized for her absence.

I don’t typically leave less than 5 Star reviews but I was very disappointed by the food here. Service was great. We were sat quickly, our server was busy so the hostess came and took our drink order immediately and soon after our server came over and apologized for the delay. We were very happy with the service but the food was just not good. The tacos weren’t much a tacos and all and are dry pulled pork on a crunchy dried up tortilla. We were also very disappointed by the ribs. Maybe the saucy ribs were better but the ones we got were flavorless. The Mac and cheese was also nothing to write home about. The wings were very crispy and tasty though as well as the French fries. We probably will not be back, flavor was not worth the price.

Absolutely amazing experience!! They have the best sweet tea and I highly recommend the Surf and Turf. This is baby back ribs that are smoked, delicious and fall off the bone! The shrimp literally melts in your mouth. If you are in Beaufort SC, I highly recommend you check this place out!! Amaya is an amazing waitress and the whole staff is friendly and efficient!

Stopped in to get an order to go. Hostess directed us to the bar to orderand highly recommended the the mahi tacos. We ordered at the bar and ordered a beer while we waited. An hour later, we were still waiting. The bartender told us the kitchen was busy with the dining room customers. I walked into the dining room and there was one table of twelve in the entire dining room. We finally got our food, walked two minutes to our boat. The fish on the tacos was way over cooked with little flavor and the cabbage slaw was almost nonexistent. The fresh cut fries may have been fresh cut, but they were not fresh fried They were limp and greasy. Overall, a very disappointing meal.

The staff was friendly. Sadly it did take a while for our drinks for the bar to show. The pound cake was also hard as a rock. Was unable to eat it without the whole thing being on the fork.

i don’t typically write reviews but i just had to give a huge shoutout to our server, megan! i hope her management sees this and gives her the recognition she deserves! we’ve eaten here before and had great, quick service, and great food so i expected the same when dining last night. the restaurant was definitely busy and we waited about 25 to be seated and once seated we had seen the tables around us were also being filled up. more than 30 minutes passed and we noticed those tables seated after us had all gotten their drinks and were getting ready to order food and we had still not been greeted by a server. i went up to the host stand to kindly ask if our server would be with us soon and was kindly greeted by megan who then went above and beyond for us. we definitely were not seated in megan’s section as we noticed she was serving a majority of tables towards the back so she had gone out of her way to make sure we had gotten our drinks and food almost immediately. she was so kind and continued to give us amazing service for the rest of our meal. if you choose to dine here, i would definitely ask for megan! this girl works hard and earns every dollar she makes which is something i can respect as someone who worked in the service industry to get through college! thank you megan, you were great!

Updated: I decided to visit again, and the server, a gentleman, was very nice and took care of what we needed. Food was still incredibly dry. I added pictures this time around. ______________ The good: the staff was amazing and tentative! We had a group of about 20, and she was on her A game. Great selection of beer as well. The Bad: The food is very inconsistent from plate to plate. The pulled pork, chicken, and the brisket were all dry and bland. Great for group drinks; food is not so much recommended!

It offers a chilled atmosphere with multiple TVs and vintage advertisements, making it an ideal spot to unwind. The bar serves traditional bar food and cocktails, along with burgers, pizzas, steaks, and more. With over 20 years of operation, Luther's has become a popular fixture in the area. Guests can expect live music and karaoke nights that contribute to its bustling ambiance.
Cool pub right by the waterfront. The patio has an awesome view of the water. We stopped in for chicken wings, burger & basketball! Mild & garlic peppercorn dry rub wings are good. Classic burger with sour cream & chive fries slaps. The fries are great, I got the burger cooked medium and it was juicy & flavorful

First time at Luther’s. Went for karaoke night. Live the ambiance of the place, true dive bar vibe and a stunning patio with a view of the waterfront. Wasn’t really hungry but wanted to get a feel for their food so we ordered fries. The bartender said “careful, they’re hot”. They were not. At all. But the seasoning on them was very good. It took quite awhile and several requests to finally get our bill. But all in all it was a good time.

Actually, I was going to go to another restaurant next door, but it was too crowded. Oh, I didn't want to wait, so we had to sit here. The tables outside were empty, so we sat at one. The waiter didn't pay attention to us for a long time (more than 15 minutes). I even went inside and got the menu myself. The outside atmosphere wasn't very good. I can say that the inside is more lively and cute. But if you want to find good service and good food, this place shouldn't be your first choice. I had the chance to try hamburgers, shrimp, sandwiches... etc., but I only ate my fill. I can't say that I really enjoyed what I ate. The only thing I liked was that they gave food to a street cat. 🧡 We can say that it's an animal-friendly restaurant. There were water bowls for dogs outside.
Özden O — Google review
Went inside upon arrival and told hostess we wanted to sit outside. She said go ahead so we went to vacant dirty table (all tables were dirty), and started to move some of the items so we could sit. The waitress came running over nearly hysterical that we not sit down until she clears the table. We ordered and sipped our drinks while we looked over the menu. Waitress never came back and had to ask waitress from the other section (who was very attentive to her customers and had triple the amount of tables) to send our waitress over. We put in our food order and ordered another drink. Waitress kept saying Coolers light instead of Coors Light and so we asked why she said it that way thinking maybe it was a joke. She said, “’it’s the accent” and gave a HUGE eye roll, grabbed the menus and walked off. NOT a good vibe at this establishment. Food was not the very good and service was terrible; did I mention another couple came and sat beside us and finally got up and left because they were never approached by waitstaff. Management needs to do some serious coaching. Would NOT recommend.

We finally found a place that made our Beaufort trip worth it! Fun, great food, and atmosphere!! We got the white pizza, so very good!! Love the live music!!! Chris Jones was excellent!!!

Food was absolutely terrible, worst food I've ever tried to eat. We waited a half hor before a waitress came and waited another 20 minutes for a bloody mary. Go anywhere else but here. Food was very expensive too, the stray cats ate it. There were 2 of us, we had a shrimp basket and a chicken basket and 2 bloody marys, the bill was.$51!!!!
Audrie L — Google review
I can see myself having a drink there, and maybe a late night burger. I read in the reviews "the best burger in town" and after my experience i was like...how about not. The burger was okay, but i had to wait way too long for the burger. Also 2 tables that came after us, had their food before us, one of them also ordered before us but we were there like 10 minutes before them. After we got our food we lost the waitress, and okay i get it, if you are alone and busy i understand. But that means the organization of the store is not perfect. The burger club looked good, my cousin got it and said it was really good! I thibk if you are local you will like this store because they have a weekly schedule to keep you busy. But as a tourist...it was an average experience.
George K — Google review
What a pity, we have come back thinking of giving them a second chance, after a long time, since they failed us with the service previously. Well, more than failing, they did not pay us any attention and after 20 minutes of waiting and seeing the waitress go by Saying absolutely nothing, we left. On this occasion, we thought that if we sat at the bar, perhaps it would be an easier service for them and perhaps faster for us. Well, none of that. We simply ordered some baskets, one of fish and the other of chicken. The waitress was attentive and there was no shortage of beers for us, but time passed, and the people who arrived after us already received their dishes. To call the attention of the waitress, we told her that we were going to go out to take some photos, that's when she told us that our order was "almost" ready, that had already passed more than 45 minutes. Upon re-entering, my husband told her that if it was not ready, we would cancel the order, she apologized and that's when she went into the kitchen to claim our plates. Another 20 minutes passed before they came out. We just didn't leave because we had hungry. The food was good. This has not been just a bad day, it is the disorder that reigns here and the poor organization that they have in the kitchen. We understand a waiting time, right now there is not much staff working and we respect it , but this place is unacceptable. It is a pity since it is in a privileged place.

Seafood lovers will also find joy here with their enticing seafood baskets featuring crispy fried fish and shrimp. I was visiting Beaufort after not being here since 2017. I noticed this restaurant and knew I had not been here before. I had planned to get a taco to go (it was a beautiful day to sit outside near the waterfront) but the bartender convinced me to go with the special due to crab shell being in season. I’d like to go back and try the tequila flight.

Ordered nacho appetizer, shrimp tacos, Mac chicken tacos, fish tacos, fried green tomato taco, carnitas taco, Hawaiian chicken tacos, lavender martini and Burial Drowning in Habits. All were delicious and service was great. Staff was friendly and helpful. Favorites were shrimp tacos and fried green tomato tacos. Lavender martini was also amazing.

Came here after seeing great reviews! Service was **really** bad. Had to ask for menus twice. Beer never came. Finally I went to the bar & got it myself. Server moved slow. Wow… Seasoning on blackened shrimp tacos was fantastic. Excellent delicate slivers of jalapeño. Great sauces. Fish tacos meh. The avocado aioli was basically mayonnaise. The shred on the cabbage was chunky. Art on the walls is great, I will say that.

Went here for a small company get together after work. We had a wonderful time and the food and drink at Lost Local have been on our minds since. We tried the Bang Bang Shrimp, and Pan Seared Mussles appetizers. The shrimp were great but the mussels stole the show!! They were cooked to perfection and seasoned in a broth that we were tempted to just drink from the bowl. The Tacos were out of this world - I tried the Hawaiian and the Gullah. The drinks were delicious. The vanilla and Pineapple infused tequila was wonderful. I can't recommend Lost Local enough - I can't wait to go back.

My husband and a few friends came here for dinner while staying on the beach. The tacos were so good. They were so packed with food they were busting. The waitress was really nice but didn’t check on us very often, which made it a little difficult when we did need something. The noise level was a tad much. We had to talk loudly to hear each other from across the table. Overall, definitely recommend for the food!

Let me just say Jeff CHANGED MY LIFE tonight. Never have I ever met a beer I liked until today. The Hummingbird Cake taste like every single ingredient listed on the can banana, pineapple, cinnamon, pecans, vanilla, yellow cake and pastry cream in a CAN. You won't believe it until you try it. He even sat it in wine chiller for me so it'd stay ice cold until the final sip. AMAZING. Excellent service.

We arrived in Beaufort last night and yet AGAIN, had a stellar meal at Lost Local! The staff are friendly, warm and inviting and it’s always great to see the same faces every visit….Ask for Jeff because he is our favorite and the ladies love to flirt and give him a hard time! While you are there, be sure and treat yourself to a fresh margarita and the fried pickle appetizer is too die for! We tried it for the first time and will be getting it again! You will not regret ordering ANY of their handcrafted tacos!! Stop by and tell our friends at Loat Local Sandy and Travis said HELLO! You won’t regret paying them a visit. Make it your favorite too!

Panini's On The Waterfront is a charming restaurant housed in the historic Beaufort Bank building, offering picturesque views of Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park. For over two decades, it has been serving a delightful fusion of traditional Italian flavors and contemporary cuisine. The menu features an array of stone-baked pizzas, innovative pasta dishes, and fresh local seafood with a Mediterranean influence.
Delicious eats, excellent service and a pleasant atmosphere! Our host/server/bartender Barbara was fun and engaging. Do try the expertly prepared crab cakes!!

We entered the restaurant by the outside deck & were directed to go to front hostess stand only to be brought back to where we were. The hostess was on personal phone & was clearly bothered by us being there & then literally threw the menus on the table without saying 1 word to us. Very rude! Waited 7 minutes to have drink order taken. From there everything was great. The male server (never said name) attended to us & checked on us well & was clearly taking more than his share of the tables but doing a very good job. The manicotti and baked zitti were hot & delicious. We had calamari as appetizer which was cooked to perfection & hot. The sauce with the calamari was excellent. With a new hostess this would have been 5 stars.
Kevin H — Google review
Got the almond crusted calamari as an appetizer and it was just okay. The calamari itself was tender but there was no flavor to be found. Got a shrimp panini with pasta salad as the entree. The shrimp was ice cold and the panini was lukewarm and not cooked throughout. The pasta salad was gummy and also ice cold with no flavor to be found. The sweet tea was the best tasting thing at this restaurant. Would not suggest going here even for your dog.

The views from the back deck are beautiful, but walking through the restaurant was disappointing. The building has great architect but the restaurant is in great need of a good cleaning and freshening up. The windows needed cleaning and the doors open to the side kitchen showed dirty mops, not very attractive. The food was ok not great, the sandwich said fresh mozzarella but was rubbery and tasteless. My waitress was very good and the outside views are great, but my lunch was mediocre.

The service was great. We came around 4:30 pm on Friday. We came here cause my grandson had just graduated from boot camp. He is a Marine. His meal was free. Yes, we would return if we came back into town.

We had a present experience at paintings tonight. We both ordered Mediterranean salads. The small version, but I also added a side of meatballs, the meatballs were very tasty and flavored, very well. They were firm, but not tight. The sauce that was put on them were very good. The salad I had in my dressing put on the side so as not to saturate the salad, the salad was very good and it was a large portion for a small salad. The 2 items together did really well. But at the beginning of the meal, we asked for some bread and some Olive oil and our writer was very accommodating and brought the bread and Olive oil out. However, we didn't get a plate or a bread plate or anything to kind of put our bread down on, so there was that outside of that the ambiance of the place was kind of nice a little hollow sounding, it would have been nice to have a lot of music. And the one was good, I very recently priced on the menu. We've been to some other places on Bay street. Where you end up, spending 50 or 60 or maybe even $90 on a meal or here tonight's meal was only around $45 for 2 of us. Anyway, it's a our recommendation. That's a good place to bring your friends and family. How they do make hard fired pizza here with dry understand is very good.

Yummy and fairly priced! Got us seating right away during a busy lunch time and food was served rather promptly. Got the surf and turf hoagie and it was delicious! Birds tend to eat your food if you keep it unattended so watch out for that! Our host even got us new chairs when it was discovered someone dropped cola on them. Very friendly, delicious, would recommend.

Nestled in Beaufort, South Carolina, Griffin Market is a culinary gem that showcases the rich flavors of Northern Italy. This esteemed restaurant, relocated from Washington D.C. by owners Laura and Riccardo Bonino seven years ago, offers a seasonal menu brimming with artisanal pasta and fresh seafood crafted from locally sourced ingredients. Renowned for its thoughtful and soulful dishes, Griffin Market has garnered praise from literary icon Pat Conroy as one of the finest dining experiences in the region.
I’ve been living in Beaufort for 1 1/2 years. I’ve dined in all the places here. It took me a minute to get into this place. I now know why. It is exceptional. The food was the best in town. The service was the best in town. The wine selection was the best in town. Make this a stop when you come to Beaufort. Reserve early. The pics don’t do justice to the flavor within. Regret not getting the dessert images.

Excellent food, as always. The antipasti course was delightful and varied, including watermelon with basil. There were three of us, and we each got a different pasta dish. All three were terrific, but the tagliatelle (a standard on their menu) was really the best. My shrimp and polenta main course was so good that I could have it daily! I tried two of the desserts, and both were very good, just the right ending. The only thing preventing me from giving Griffin Market 5 stars this time around is the fact that my wineglass got empty during the main course, and I wanted some prosecco to go with my dessert. About halfway through the dessert, Ricardo (co-owner) brought the check, and I asked for prosecco. We were one of only three tables dining at the time, so I thought this was a bit of an oversight. However, it will not prevent me from going back and enjoying Griffin Market on another special evening!

We ate a pre-fixed dinner this evening and were so excited to give this little restaurant a try. Being Italian myself, I do have high expectations. We were met by the owner. He showed us to our table. Immediately, I felt uncomfortable with sitting directly in the middle of the room, but no where else was offered so as we sat there, and immediately noticed strange heavy beating disco music playing. Somehow, the overhead light above our table was in sync with this crazy disco music changing from bright to dim with the beat of the music. That was quite strange, and a huge distraction. The second thing that we noticed was the prices. The website clearly stated that each pre-fixed meal was $35 pp, but upon giving us the menu, it clearly stated on the menu that the cost was $52pp. That’s a difference of $34 without a mention anywhere that the price increased. We chose our selections and everything tasted very good, but the portions were extremely small. I’ve been to Italy and have never been served such incredibly small portions. With 4 glasses of half poured wine at $12 a glass. tax, and tip. Our total bill was $200. Not sure we will ever do that again. Service was excellent though!
J D — Google review
An amazingly unique and classy place. Perfect for a date night! For those looking to be fed an abundance of mediocre food this is not your place. Quality and unbelievable flavor is served here not “quantity”. Go to the Olive Garden if you think the portions are small. My husband and I drive from FL to have dinner here and Griffin has become a very special place to us. The staff is small and truly feels like a family. The owner is proud and unapologetic over the fact he knows what type of restaurant he has and we love that. You certainly can’t make everyone happy and you shouldn’t have to be sorry for that. I truly believe if you don’t have a great meal here, it’s your fault then. Sorry not sorry. Speaking of all this now….I just might need to take a drive and have a fantastic meal again! This is the type of local one of a kind place every town would be lucky to have.

I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. Perfect food, amazing service, and warm and welcoming atmosphere.

We have wanted to try Griffin Market for a few years (yes, years). We had an Italian exchange student and thought this might be a good taste of home if it was as authentic as we thought it might be. It was an amazing experience. From the interaction from the owner to watching the dinning room interaction it was a great experience. Food: I was delighted. Every appetizer will come to the table and you share it around like a family meal. Everything was amazing and I was left wanting more. Everyone said they were worried about eating too much because they have more courses coming. The portions were perfect. Every dish was cleaned and everyone was full. The flavors were just amazing. Our exchange student said it made her think of going to her grandmother’s house in Sunday. The ox tail was superb and the pastas were in perfect. If you are looking for Olive Garden then go to Olive Garden and don’t complain about real Italian food. Our bill was a little over $500 for 6 people (3 teenagers and 3 adults) and only 3 additional drinks besides water; worth every penny. We will be back for sure.

With its inviting ambiance and a stunning red domed Marra Forni brick oven as the centerpiece, this restaurant combines warmth with sophistication. The interior features wood salvaged from Hurricane Matthew, adding a unique touch that connects diners to the local landscape.
Went on a Saturday night. I like the interior. Food was good. Mozzarella cheese sticks were tasty. Long wait times for food. This place was full capacity. Servers are amazing! Very friendly. They only have 1 pizza oven. This place really needs get 2 ovens for amount of volume they have coming in. It would help with issues with food. I would probably go on another night of the week or go earlier in the day. Tips: 2 people can share a pizza

I’m not a big wings fan but the Asian chicken wings are one of the tastiest foods I’ve ever had! The pizza was good as well but nothing special. Service was relatively fast and my water was always full but I did have to ask to get a refill on my soft drink

Came here for the wood fire pizza and honestly I’ve had BETTER pizza from Papa John’s. The Asian style chicken wings 1000/10 the only thing I’d come back here for. The Caesar salad was gross!! This had to be the best coffee spot I stopped in while visiting the area. We had a couple different specialty lattes, and the red velvet loaf…*chefs kiss* Such a cute little place that is for sure a must visit in the area. Maybe I caught them on a bad day, I dunno. From what I was told, it was a very popular place. I first purchased 2 cups of regular coffee, and I love strong dark roast coffee, but their coffee tasted bitter and burnt. I thought I'd give them a second chance and ordered a Hazelnut latte with two extra shots of espresso, and it was like trying to drink hot, very sweet milk. Would I go back? No!!

What a lovely first visit! The staff was so friendly and didn’t mind taking the time to explain dishes to me. The Thai tea was recommended and oh that right there makes me want to return. I am southern and love my sweet tea but this tea was complex and on a different level of deliciousness! I ordered the pineapple stir fry and the vegetables were the star of the show. I would have rather had unbattered chicken in the dish but that’s personal preference more than a ding on the dish. It’s a lovely place and will return.

Excellent place to eat alone or in a group. The atmosphere is great, waitresses are super friendly its a great location with plenty of parking. The quality and properties of the food is excelent everything was perfectly cooked. The salmon was delicious. The sushi portion are very generous.
Naomi R — Google review
Nice atmosphere and courteous service. I am so glad we stopped here. The portion sizes are huge and our server was busy but she attended to us well. We had the calamari, sesame chicken and the Thai fried rice with shrimp. Everything was good.
JayJay B — Google review
Ate here 3/11/23. The server was awesome and friendly. She added fun to the experience. The dining room was cozy and had a more upscale feel to it than I was expecting. The fresh rolls (summer rolls) were so delicious and came with a slamming peanut dipping sauce. I had the shrimp pad Thai max spiciness and I really enjoyed the flavor. The heat wasn't too much for me, but I'm a little more experienced in spicy. The firecracker roll had a great flavor and texture balance. I would definitely recommend for Thai / sushi lovers and would eat there again if I'm back in Beaufort.

The facility boasts a banquet room, game room, and multiple TVs for sports enthusiasts to enjoy their favorite games. didn't partake in the food, but it's probably the cleanest and nicest looking military bar/restaurant I've seen. it's attached to a subway, so you get the delicious smells of subway without the gross taste of subway. : )

Really disappointed the bar is closed on the weekend now. Doesn't make sense. Nice place with plenty of pool tables, gaming consoles, and a theater. Would be nice to actually use it on the weekend and have a beer during the only time Marines usually have off.
Damianleb1 — Google review
Cheap and good drinks, nice staff, and alright food. Good place to chill with some buddies, especially with a mini theater, a video game room, free pool, free ping-pong, and plenty of events going on here.

Nice, clean place. Good bar food. Small game room. Several TV's for sports and a jukebox. Usually very slow, never busy or crowded.

Hemingway's Bistro is a charming subterranean hangout located in the heart of Beaufort, South Carolina. Nestled beneath the bustling streets, this unique bistro offers a laid-back atmosphere perfect for enjoying light bites, sandwiches, and cocktails. With outdoor seating available, it's an ideal spot to unwind with friends while savoring late-night drinks. The bar exudes a local vibe and is great for people-watching.
Such a cool tiny hole-in-the-wall bar. I will say it was a little tricky to find. But once you spotted it hidden in the corner it was a neat little place near the marina. Felt somewhat like a speakeasy bar hidden near the ocean. We came in Tuesday night for a quick drink. Had the whole bar to ourselves. Ended up staying longer than we anticipated. We had a great and long-time chitchatting and laughing with one of the workers there named Kyle. Loved that they had a few shelves where they sold cigarettes. Very unique and not something that you see anymore these days. It was a pleasure getting to sit down and experience Hemingway’s Bistro and talking with Kyle. We hope to be back soon!

Had a great Sunday, not too long ago, day drinking with friends at Hemingways. Fast, friendly service. Nice little pop-up shop was setup inside. Scooped some cool gifts for friends. We enjoyed listening to local musician, Campfire Tyler.. it was a perfect day!!! Don’t get out very often, looking forward to another visit later on in the summer :)

This is a great local pub facing the Beaufort Waterfront Park. We didn't know how to get to it, so it was a bit hard to find. The address is on Bay Street, but you actually enter around the other side of the building, facing the river. It's in the basement, but they have a lot of outside seating, which was perfect for the sunny day we were there. They also had live music, which was an added bonus. The staff was really working hard that day, but still gave us good service. The sandwiches and beer were both very good. It's a great place to stop for a drink and meal if you are in the area.
Robert Y — Google review
Waited 1 hour hour for food...a hot dog and a sandwich... Waitress was rude. Just slung the plates on the table and got an attitude when my husband went to get extra napkins..My husband got the Cuban sandwich and there was barely anything to it or in it. First time here, last time here. We went due to the other reviews which were good but not sure how they got them based on our experience.
Joann H — Google review
A small bar that serves a limited menu of sandwiches and sushi. I went on the 4th of July and got the turkey melt and a bloody mary. Both were decent, but nothing special. I didn’t go expecting to be blown away. The service was good and it definitely has that small, local feel that you’d get at your local watering hole. Prices are pretty fair, but $8 for a bloody mary that comes from a bottle (even with lots of accoutrements) is a bit steep.
Aaron C — Google review
Fantastic dive bar in the heart of downtown Beaufort...atmosphere is cozy and amazing...nice little outdoor seating area as well...great place to have fun or take a break from downtown
Roger P — Google review
Best Bloody Marys in Beaufort and surrounding areas. This place is it. It's small and it's quaint and it's the real deal. The sandwiches are good and the bloody Marys are out of this world. Small and local and perfect. I'm sure their other drinks are good too. Don't skimp on the bloody Mary. Get the good one. Great patio dining and perfect personalities.

This contemporary haven offers sleek accommodations equipped with modern amenities like minifridges and complimentary Wi-Fi, ensuring a comfortable stay for all guests. The hotel features an inviting café where visitors can indulge in delightful snacks and beverages, making it perfect for those looking to relax after exploring the charming downtown area. Perfectly nestled in the heart of downtown Beaufort. While there are other hotels in the area, none compare when it comes to location. You walk right out of your room and you’re surrounded by shops, restaurants, and the gorgeous waterfront. It doesn’t get better than that! The hotel itself is cozy, stylish, and feels incredibly safe. I loved starting my mornings with coffee and breakfast from City Java, located right on-site, and the fitness center, City Fit, is an added bonus for wellness lovers like me!! And don’t sleep on the drinks stocked in the room—seriously delicious! Be sure to try one or two while you unwind on your private patio space and take in the downtown charm. Everything about this stay was effortless and enjoyable. Can’t wait to come back!!

Great location and the staff was very helpful. The room was nice and cozy and even had a mini bar! The hotel provided cool cans of water and brought ice to my room! I also met the owner who seemed like a great guy. There is a coffee shop attached that has great drinks and snacks! I'll definitely come back.

We just spent 4 days and 3 nights in beautiful Beaufort, SC. Our hotel stay with City Loft Hotel was fantastic. The room was very clean, had pretty decor, a great shower and nice touches like evening cookies, vouchers for beverages and snacks in the on-site cafe and a perfect location within walking distance to boutique shopping, restaurants, museums, parks, the waterfront and the historic district. We thought it was perfect and will definitely stay there again!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5-Star Stay in the Heart of Beaufort! We had such a great experience staying at this hotel! The city java cafe brings it all to the hotel from coffee, alcohol, sweet treats and food! The location is absolutely perfect—right in the middle of downtown Beaufort, making it super easy to walk to restaurants, shops, and the beautiful waterfront and a super easy quick drive to fripp island. The room was spotlessly clean and clearly well taken care of. From the crisp linens to the fresh-smelling bathroom, everything felt comfortable and inviting. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and check-in was quick and easy, and don’t forget the cookies left on the door every night such a sweet treat. If you’re looking for a clean, convenient place to stay where you can park your car and explore Beaufort on foot, this is it. We’ll definitely be back!
Brandi F — Google review
After reading previous reviews, I was excited to stay at this hotel. Upon arrival the room did not meet expectations. The sheets were dirty. Then I look further and find other unpleasant surprises. Such as hair and dirt inside drawers and a dirty towel hanging in the bathroom. We requested a clean set of sheets. After 3 trips to the room, the guest service person was able to complete our request for clean bedding. Extremely disappointed.

City Loft Hotel is our favorite place to stay when visiting Beaufort. You can't beat the location, the staff is friendly and very accommodating, the rooms are clean and include a fridge, drinks, robes, light up makeup mirror, shampoo etc (everything you need), and you can't beat the options for snacks and drinks at the attached cafe, City Java! We are looking forward to our next trip to Beaufort and to staying again at this unique, boutique hotel!

I come to Beaufort one month out of the year. This is the main bar I come to. Many of the locals and the staff has always been welcoming to me and whomever I bring. I had a pleasure to meet the owner and was nothing but nice, every time he sees me, he goes out of his way to say hello.
Miguel B — Google review
Great service, friendly people, good prices. A variety of games, Savannah is an awesome bartender.
Ms. M — Google review
We were so excited to kick off our vacation at Beauforts favorite dive bar, only to be everything but run out by the bartender from the moment we walked in the door. From the size of our wallet, to my choice to pay cash over card, to the conversation we shared with others at the bar. After one beer, we are heading down the road to find something/anything more welcoming than the team at CryBabies tonight. Super disappointing!

Rosie O'Grady's Irish American Pub is a popular spot in Beaufort, drawing both tourists and locals. It boasts the largest beer selection in town and a full bar. While some have had mixed experiences with the service, many praise the friendly bartenders and enjoyable karaoke nights. The pub is known for its delicious hamburgers, making it more than just a place for drinks.
Dropped in for some wings and a beer. The Guinness was just right and the wings were good. We also had the cheesy fries which were fresh and excellent. The young lady behind the bar was very pleasant, as were the locals.
Philip T — Google review
The bar itself is nice but our bartender was extremely rude to us. The second we sat down he asked for our ids and rolled his eyes. And then we gave him them and he rolled his eyes at us again I’m not even exaggerating. We all 3 ordered drinks and he didn’t remember a single drink and seemed annoyed when he asked us again. Then we closed our tab out and when I didn’t tip him because he was so rude he started talking about us and threw a bottle in the trash.
M — Google review
The male bartender was wonderful but the absence of a bouncer and/or some type of door security was not. It was my wife and I’s first time there and it was great up until the moment “John” walked in and came over to us and called my wife a hoe as a joke and proceeds to try and kiss other women that obviously did not want to be touched. He seems to be a regular being that a lot of people in there knew him. Won’t be going back for that reason a lone

I've dropped in a couple of times for appetizers and drinks; Food was good, drinks good and the service wonderful! Bartenders were very friendly and easy to talk to, chill atmosphere and I'm always happy to go back again

We visited Tomfoolery while house hunting in the area. It was as delightful as the neighborhood. Veronica was super cute, Tom was very personal and the Bring a Friend Nachos were devoured. I can see why neighbors gather here.

We had such a lovely time here on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. It was the perfect spot to just unwind and enjoy the day. The atmosphere was so friendly and relaxed, and the outdoor seating was ideal. The menu was great, and we were so happy to find a place that felt so genuinely welcoming. It's the kind of place where you instantly feel like a regular. Definitely a must-try if you're looking for a friendly and fun place in Habersham!

Cool dive bar/local watering hole vibe. Had smash burger and truffle fries. Very good! Liz bartender is interesting chick and cool af. Definitely worth a visit.

By far the best sports bar in Beaufort. Literally everything on the menu is good. The specials are always a hit. I've never had a sirloin I've enjoyed until I had one here, I thought it was prime rib and had to get educated on the cut. I almost don't want to write this review so it doesn't get too busy.

If you like a congregation of snobs, then this is your place. Tried to drink my 1 beer outside, but the fly infestation thanks to the dumpster next door forced me to go back inside. Bartenders and the bar manager were super rude… it was obvious that they did not like the presence of someone who isn’t a local. My bill was $6.00 for 1 beer. Left a $2.00 tip. The patrons were total snobs… bitter rich/retired people. Don’t understand why they would be snobs, their kitchen staff look dirty and unmotivated. Food is over-priced- I would not dare to order from there given the fly invasion. They obviously take their local participation for granted. It’s a snobbish neighborhood bar… don’t waste your time unless you’re also a snob with a White Priviledge Card! I will absolutely NEVER return unless I want to become a Fly.
