Tailend Restaurant is a renowned seafood spot located in St Andrews, attracting golfers, tourists, students, and locals alike. The restaurant takes pride in serving fresh seafood and local produce sourced from G & A Spink fish merchants of Arbroath. Their menu features famous hot smoked salmon and Arbroath smokies. Tailend offers casual dining as well as event nights for special celebrations.
I visited St Andrews and this is one of the places the people in the area recommended. The ambiance is great, clean toilet, friendly staff. I love their best seller fish and chips, you have options as how you want the fish to be cooked and options for half or full. I cannot recommend it to people on wheelchair as theres stairs going inside the restaurant. My overall experience is good.

Best fish and chips in St Andrews. In fact, probably the best in North East Fife. Sorry Anstruther. Freshly made to order. We like to nip down to the beach and sit in the car in the warmth and tuck in. I bet it's better than the Old Course Hotel fish and chips and a fraction of the price. Can't wait to go back. It's worth the 3hour round trip to our favourite place. The McIntoshs.
Bill M — Google review
Absolutely amazing quality of fish! I tried their raw salmon at home, I made it as a tartare, and I absolutely loved it. The salmon was extremely fresh and has great fat distribution. I didn't for a second doubt I could try it raw. It goes great for sushi and tartare! I had one small piece of the salmon for 5£ and was enough for 1 portion tartare, which i consider great price compared to the quality.

The photos do not do this place justice. Food was perfect, locally sourced, fresh, tasty and cooked to perfection. What was remarkable was the fish was covered in gluten free batter. Not one greasy mark on the plate or inside my mouth .. the oil must have been at the ideal temperature. Probably the best gluten free batter we have had in 30 years. Moroccan fish stew was a spicy delight with really chunky fresh fish and mussels. Then from the daily board we had grilled sea bass with teriyaki sauce and salad. Very simple, but very nice 😋. Not cheap at £168, but we ate like politicians and felt like we had just cooked it ourselves (how we like it). We will be visiting here for the next 5 years, so pleased to find our first place which is worth coming back to. We thought the service and staff were very understanding and patient. They all looked like they were having a good time and there to please customers.
Gregory H — Google review
Ate lunch here while visiting our daughter's campus and had a good meal. I had the sea bass and enjoyed that. I normally like sea bass that is baked, but the one here was grilled. My past experiences with grilled sea bass was that it was dried out, but that was not the case here. It was prepared really well. My daughter had the mussels and was happy with that. My wife had the Tabbouleh Salad with Halloumi and she loved that. Also ordered the Crispy Potatoes with Dill Mayo side and that was very good. Good service and nice environment. Also has a fish market at the front of the store that you can purchase meats to go. Definitely would recommend a stop in here.
Dave H — Google review
The fried fish and chips was killer. I got the whole fillet. Get the whole fillet because half is going to only leave you wanting more! The battered fish is fried to absolute perfection! It comes out piping hot and crispy and still soft and buttery inside. The crispy fried halloumi was off the charts!! Crispy on the outside and melt in your mouth on the inside! The sweet and spicy sauce on it was a game changer!! I could have ate 4 plates of that stuff!! Highly recommend!!!!!!
Michael J — Google review
The battered fish and chips were excellent. Served very hot and tasted so fresh. Cheesecake was equally as good. Very creamy and served with a side of sauce. Waitstaff was very responsive, friendly and attentive. Would return.
John E — Google review
Popped in for appetizers and a cocktail one evening. I must admit i was surprised with the flavors achieved on such "simple" dishes. I say simple because I had a bowl green beans , bowl of potatoes , and a bowl of tuna/salmon . The food was delightful and everything was so good. The amaretto sour was delicious as well! I gave 4 star for service because the couple that walked in at same time as us received their food before our order was even taken.

If your looking for some place special this is it. The food and service was amazing. We'll definitely be back again. Thank you for making our first visit so memorable.

One of the classic fine dining spots of St Andrews and has been for 15 years plus! Perched in a modern glass cube over the ocean, it has stunning sea views and super modern decor. The food is delicious- they offer a set menu for lunch which is usually worth doing (significantly cheaper than a la carte and just as delicious). Great ingredients, cooked simply but with flair and attention to flavour. We had a heritage tomato salad with goats cheese stuffed courgette flower, and confit sea trout in a seafood bisque. Amaaaaazing. Service is friendly and informed - great advice on wines and friendly ambience. Perfect for a special occasion.

I was at The Seafood Ristorante today for the first time. The setting is lovely, offering stunning sea views whilst you eat. The food was amazing, and there were great wine choices. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend.

This was the BEST meal we had on our week-long trip thru Scotland! Would happily come back again. Service was spectacular, great atmosphere and views, perfectly seasoned and cooked food. Highly recommend the white curry scallops (WOW! Have never had scallops with that kind of flavor) and crab spaghetti.

Amazing find on the beach front in St Andrew’s! Staff nice and knowledgeable, great setting overlooking the sea, great food and drinks! And lunch offer well priced! Will be back for dinner soon

We always love visiting the Seafood restaurant. Food is consistently good. I’ve never had a bad dish. Really high quality seasonal ingredients cooked well. No pretentious drama with foams, essences, dry ice etc. The food doesn’t need that, it speaks for itself. If you haven’t visited before the view is stunning, right on the water. The staff are excellent, they always give 5 star service that is seamless. We always look forward to returning, it’s fast becoming our favourite restaurant.

Forgan's St Andrews is a vibrant restaurant located on Market Street, known for its sustainable European dishes and grill options. The industrial-chic eatery offers a range of Scottish savory dishes such as Haggis, Neeps & Tatties, St Andrews Platter, Finnan Haddie Fishcake, and Lapsang Souchong Tea Smoked Salmon with Avocado Toast.
Very chic restaurant with a refined but laid-back vibe. I don't know how they struck the balance so well but they did! We didn't have a reservation but they were able to sit 2 of us with little fuss. Service was friendly and personal. The haggis bon bons were a great intro to haggis. Everything else was tasty but just a bit bland and needed more seasoning (provided on the table). The cocktails were a nice balance of spirit and sweetness, not too strong of either. Overall would recommend!
Monique C — Google review
Forgan’s is a wonderful restaurant—beautiful to the eyes and the palate. What a gorgeous place to dine. And the food? Spectacular. Best fish and chips I’ve had in Scotland so far. The fish was fresh and juicy on the inside, with just the right crisp on the outside to give the perfect bite. My wife was delighted with her Hot Smoked Salmon Salad, and the bruschetta was lovely—fresh, tart, and sweet, all resting on a crisp toast bed. What a great restaurant.
Jerry F — Google review
We had a lovely trip to St Andrews and the best part of the day was the experience we had at Mitchell's. Although busy, we were seated right away. The menu was straightforward, easy to read. Our server Howard was friendly, polite and extremely helpful. It was a pleasure to speak with him and a far better service than we have had at any other restaurant in a very long time. Howard is a great asset. The food was so nice! I opted for the French Toast, my son had the waffle stack (what else would a 10 year old order for brunch!), my husband had the Ruben (a very tasty sandwich) and my daughter was "absolutely starving" (Typical 12 year old!) and so she had the fish and chips. We all enjoyed our food! Will definitely be back... as we had no room for cake! And the cakes looked amazing! Thank you for a wonderful, tasty Lunch with the best service! Keep up the great work.

Enjoyed a lovely lunch at Forgan’s on a busy Sunday in St Andrews. We hadn’t made a reservation as we were only visiting for the day, however we were able to get a table for an hour, which was plenty of time for a quick lunch. Reservations are probably recommended if you would need longer. The soup of the day and the Cullen Skink were fabulous. Our waitress was great. We even managed to enjoy a little bit of the live music which was fab!
JM — Google review
What a cute place and the ambiance was something you dont always see. This restaurant had a very funky fun style. I loved it. Shout out to KELSEY our waitress, this week. 8/22/25. She was very attenative and helpful in menu choices. Salmon Salad was so good and not chinzy on the amount of fish (I did not finish it, which is not like me). My husband had a burger and fries, the presentation was beautiful, had giant onion rings on top (yes I l know it's just a burger, but it was big). Thanks for taking our pic too Kelsey. We also both had a Beer...Tennents my favorite in Scotland.

What a fabulous place to eat in St Andrews - clearly so many people feel the same! The Sunday lunch was beautiful and the beef was phenomenal. Service was exceptional and so very friendly. Was slightly worried that it would be a stuffy affair (we’d spent the day on the pier walk so we were a bit cold and dishevelled!) but not at all - if you book Forgans, you will not regret it.
Samantha F — Google review
Very quick service, they even found us a table even though we had no reservation. I highly recommend their Sunday roast. And make sure to visit the WC since it's an interesting journey.

Restaurant
Located in the heart of a charming town, Little Italy is a beloved restaurant that offers an authentic Italian dining experience. The cozy and intimate interior exudes traditional Italian charm with red walls, vintage decor, and warm lighting. The menu features classic Italian dishes like pasta with mussels or prawns, expertly seasoned with unique spices and herbs for a delightful flavor. Whether you're a local or a visitor, Little Italy is highly recommended for those craving genuine Italian flavors in a welcoming atmosphere.
Had the vegetarian tomato and basil pasta, not disappointed at all. Very good and good quantity for the price. Always wanted to visit the place will be back soon. Although the waitress never came back to check back but its okay was too busy chatting with my friend. No complaints at all. They have got the right vibe right interior although its red color but still its so decent that it doesn’t overpower you.
Vasu K — Google review
This is not your run of the mill Italian meal. If you can get a table grab it! we were able to sneak in last minute and it was fantastic! The vegetarian food is very good. The owner is very gregarious and will help you find any wine food that you’re looking for. If you've had a lot of Scottish food, here is where you take a break.

A gem of an Italian restaurant tucked in an alley. This place serves great food and wine! Such a huge variety that we ate here every night during the Open LOL! Great service too. Reservations highly recommended as regulars know this is one of the best place to eat in St Andrews!

We save this place for our last meal celebrating an incredible trip to Scotland which culminated in St. Andrews. Make sure to make a reservation! It does not disappoint. From the attentive staff to the extensive wine list to the amazing menu, our meal was memorable. Everything we ordered was delicious. It’s always on our list when we visit here.

Went here all the way from Linlithgow, must admit well worth it. Top class service, serious wine range, food abs fabulous, very tasty and flavoursome, huge portions. I got pasta with lamb shank meat, was fantastic. Yes it’s a bit pricey but well worth it. Highly recommend.

The Jigger Inn, housed in a historic building dating back to the 1850s, was originally the stationmasters lodge and still exudes its rich heritage. This charming pub, located at the Old Course Hotel, is adorned with golfing memorabilia and features inviting open-hearth fires. It offers a delightful selection of home-cooked Scottish cuisine and an impressive array of local beers.
If I could give 10 stars here, I would! The Jigger Inn was such a wonderful experience for our family! The staff loved on our little 1-year old so well. They brought him a plate of french fries right after we sat down and they played peek-a-boo with him off and on during our lunch. They were exceptional! The food was amazing, the beer was cold and delicious -- the setting... WOW! We were seated on the patio at the 17th hole of the legendary St. Andrews Old course. It was very special! After lunch, our little one took his first steps right there at the Jigger Inn and the staff celebrated him so sweet and they all signed a kids menu as a memento of his very first steps! Such a memorable day! Thank you Jigger Inn!!
Jenn M — Google review
We came just to grab a drink and watch the golfers pass, and it was quite a view! Had a few orders of whiskey which I thought portions were little, at least compared to other places we've been. It also gets noisy when larger groups are seated near you. Service is friendly although the bar tender seems a little cold. We did take a while to get service as most of them stayed indoors unless you've just arrived and are shown your seat. Nonetheless, still an experience everyone should come for. Wished we had appetite for food as the dishes looked amazing!
D3AR C — Google review
Stopped in for a beer after a walk around the Old Course. Beautiful bar (serves food) with great outdoor seating area adjacent to the golf course. Check out the signed caps of the famous golfers of the world. A must visit for all golf fans.
Martin D — Google review
The Traditional Cullen Skink is absolutely delicious. I’ve never had it before so I wanted to try something new and definitely was not disappointed! I wish there was a bigger bowl especially on the cold day we had. Nonetheless, it was very tasty with a lot of flavor and reminded me of a more viscous clam chowder. The Steak and Chips were also a huge winner. I asked for the steak to be medium rare and they delivered perfection. What really set the meal off was the peppercorn sauce that came with it! Truly a game changer for that dish. I dipped every piece of steak into that nectar from the Gods!! Go enjoy a nice meal right on the course 🤗
Michael J — Google review
Best bangers and mash I’ve ever had!! Also very well catered for during the evenings outside where blankets and hot water bottles are provided so you can still enjoy the view of the old course. Highly recommend!
Millie N — Google review
While staying at the Old Course Hotel in St. Andrews, we had lunch at The Jigger Inn. My husband ordered the Traditional Cullen Skink—a hearty smoked haddock and potato soup served with sourdough bread and butter—which he found very filling. I chose the rump steak with peppercorn sauce, and it was tender and flavorful, paired with perfectly crisp, well-seasoned chunky chips. For dessert, we shared a sticky toffee pudding with ice cream that was absolutely delicious. The service was warm and friendly, and the pub had a great overall vibe.
Judy M — Google review
Outside with the views and history or inside with the coziness and history. Much of it will depend on the weather but either one is a great option. Nothing beats the feeling of all those that came before that helped shape the game. Have a pint and soak it all in. The fish and chips were really good. The Jigger Ale was fantastic. The service was ok. Depending on the person they may of had their fill of semi drunk golf dudes for the day or perhaps they just started their shift and are happy. Either way, enjoy being near one of the hardest holes on the course and image the golfers teeing off at 17 aiming for the Jigger Inn.
Lee K — Google review
If St. Andrews is the Home of Golf, then The Jigger Inn is the clubhouse you never want to leave. Bart, Elsa, and Ethan deserve their own spot in the Hall of Fame—exceptional service, endless charm, and a history lesson sprinkled with stories you can’t put a price on. The sticky toffee pudding and tart? Let’s just say they should come with a warning label—because once you’ve tried them, you’ll be ruined for desserts anywhere else. Bottom line: golf may be the religion here, but The Jigger Inn is the cathedral. A must-visit every single time you’re in town.

About a 10 minute drive from the heart of St Andrews and you get welcomed by the barn-like larder, with herbs grown outdoors. Service is friendly and the coffee is good! On our way to another site, we took a wrong turn and chanced upon this lovely setting. The grocery looked wonderful with a great selection of locally sourced food. The review was for their food. We decided to try their food alfresco. I would sadly say that what we ordered was competent at best.

We’ve been to the steak barn a number of times and the food is always great. Lovely steaks and burgers and the chips are like crispier chippy chips. Well worth the visit! Cafe is good for breakfasts and the larder is nice too.

The epitome of what a good farm shop should be. A vast selection of locally reared meats, a selection of local dairy cheeses, a well stocked deli with biscuits, crackers and chutneys to keep and good food addict happy. Not a vast selection for those on a plant based diet like myself, but the clue's in the name...its a farm shop. beautiful books, scarves, blankets, candles and an array of individual gifts for all ages. The whisky range is beyond incredible, as is the wine and alcohol selection in general. The cafe attached to the Larder has a hearty and basic fayre of cheese and meat sandwiches which my colleagues had and all rated 9/10. There wasn't anything I could eat, but I expected as much. I'm giving 5 stars as I would highly recommend it to anyone with these food preferences and because it stays true to what a good farm shop should be. A good all round selection of traditional farm prpduce with all the trimmings at the higher, justifiable end of the price range.

Absolutely sublime. Read the reviews and was a little worried arriving. I have to say, our experience was perfect in every respect. The cocktails were amazing and prepared with skill by the expert young female mixologist. I had the crab starter which was to die for. Chicken and fillet mains that were both perfect. Bottle of superb Malbec which was smooth and silky. The serving staff were young and showed the skills of seasoned professionals. Well done The Adamson. We will be back soon 👏👏👏👏

The atmosphere and decor is modern, comfortable and attractive. The food quality is very good, but at the prices charged, the portion sizes are shockingly small. Thirty six pounds for four bites of venison works out to nine pounds per bite - I was so hungry at the end of dinner that I stopped for takeaway noodles afterwards.
Steven Q — Google review
We decided to dine there for lunch on the spur of the moment. Google said there was no availability but glad we decided to be normal and phone. There was plenty of availability and we were so glad we went. Lovely decor and comfortable seating. We had mussels (delicious), trout tartar (delicious) and calamari (mildly over done, but still.tasty) to start. Mains were all fantastic. Fish and chips (great batter and chips with the most amazing mushy peas) Mushroom risotto (perfect).and Steak and Chips (seasoned and cooked greatly) Service was friendly and prompt. We will return on our next St. Andrews visit.

We were the only ones in their outdoor seating area which felt a bit weird since nearby places were mobbed, but it was fine for us. Their beer selection is very limited, with only a handful of boring beers available so -1 star for that. The nibbles we got were fairly pricy so figured we'd get decent portions, but they were tiny, so -1 star again. The service was friendly though and the nibbles were tasty so it wasn't all bad. Overall an ok experience, but I'm not sure I'd drop by again.

Overpriced! Manager really snobby and rude! Food portion is small to promote high dining but tastes no better than eating pub food! Staff look unhappy too!

We waited 20 mins for service while 4 tables arrived after us and were served before. The steak was good but the main course fish portion was tiny - def a starter size. If you can’t serve a decent portion, then charge more or don't serve it. I would be embarrassed to serve that as a main course!

We ate here the other night and we enjoyed our meal. We were 1 hour early for our booked table but they were kind enough to give us a table. We asked to sit outside. The table was very small for the 4 of us and the chairs weren’t that comfortable. The staff were very friendly. However, they could be a little better with their service. Once we got our table my wife and dad went to the toilet and we were immediately asked if we were ready to order drinks. I thought it was a bit premature of them asking as the whole party wasn’t there. We got water and bread for the table and asked the waiter to come back in a few minutes. Before our mains, staff walked past our table a number of times and didn’t collect our bread board which we had clearly finished. When our mains arrived the waiter realised that one little table wouldn’t fit all our meals so he awkwardly pulled another over with his hands full. The bread board was still there so the waitress had to do a swap with me. I feel that this awkwardness could have been avoided if the staff were a little more on the ball with the tables and clearing the used board before serving the mains. The food itself was really good. I got the fillet steak which lovely. However, I asked for medium rare but it was definitely more on the medium side. I also thought it was very small considering how expensive it is. I got truffle and parmesan fries with it which were ok. They were bog standard fries with Parmesan sprinkled on top. I couldn’t taste the truffle. My wife got fish and chips. She said the fish was delicious and the chips were fine. My mum got the prawn linguine which she really enjoyed and couldn’t fault. My can’t remember the name of the vegetarian dish my dad got but he said it was nice. For dessert I got the chef’s physician which was incredibly tasty (just wish there was more of it), my mum got a meringue dessert which was also lovely and my wife got sticky toffee pudding which was scrumptious. Overall, we had a good meal. Staff are very friendly but service could be improved. I also believe that it was a bit expensive.

Wanted to have dinner here but holiday plans cut short. Went for breakfast, full Scottish, mmmmmm staff very friendly and accommodating. Dog friendly as well which is a bonus. Excellent decor and seating

Great food and atmosphere. This is an upscale pub restaurant mid priced but excellent value for money. Agree with the recommendations we enjoyed the haggis bonbons. Also loved the halloumi with IrnBru chilli jam. Good sized Sunday roasts and burgers. We forced down some delicious sticky toffee pudding even though we were already full because it was so nice. Served by Vickey like all the staff was pleasant and attentive. Great visit highly recommended.

Very well located in the heart of St Andrews. Very nice atmosphere in the bar and the restaurant. Only improvement could be the serving speed of the breakfast in the morning. But not a big deal as we were on holidays.
Frédéric V — Google review
Got the fish and chips but the batter was too thin so when I put on the lemon it went soggy straight away. My partners chips were also burnt. The burger with bacon and cheese was good but the bacon was a bit overwhelming. The irn bru chilli jam did not have enough chilli and I don’t think the flavours of the jam really went together well. The restaurant was beautiful and the servers were friendly but slow so we had to wait a while for the bill. The wine was lovely. The cocktails were nice but the menu wasn’t extensive enough so couldn’t get a margarita :( Booked the table under celebration for a birthday but they didn’t do anything special so not sure why they have option on the website. Overall, an enjoyable experience but could be improved.

Every time I have tried to come to The Saint in the past 3 years, their lift hasnt been working. I would really appreciate if they could update their google page to reflect that they do not have a wheelchair accessible entrance, so that others with physical disabilities that affect their mobility can avoid making bookings and planning outings. Everyone I have spoken to has been very kind - however, accurate accessibility information is a must.

Loved spending another Sunday afternoon at The Saint. The gin & jazz live event is such a great find to accompany our delicious Sunday roast. It’s such a welcoming place to come to, where the staff are friendly & attentive and the food is always mouth watering! 5 STARS 🌟

Wow totally worth the 20 minute walk from our air bnb into the country. Lovely £77 for 3 course menu with a few choices for each course. You also get in between courses which was unexpected. Setting stunning, food amazing and the service to make it a complete experience.

Booked lunch here on a recommendation, and it was very good. The food was excellent and none of our party could fault it. The starters, mains, pan seared trout Tofu, beef and pork dishes were all lovely. The warm date & ginger cake was mmm. All enjoyed their lunch. Prior to our meal we also had a look at the sea-scapes by David Joy. He was doing a painting in his garden next to the restaurant and we had a wonderful chat with him. A talented artist amongst other things. A very nice afternoon with great views over St Andrews.

Rogue is a sophisticated dining spot located at the end of South Street in St Andrews. It prides itself on offering seasonal and sustainable Scottish seafood as well as dry-aged beef sourced from the area. The restaurant also houses a gin still where they craft their own contemporary Felons Gin. Whether you're in the mood for champagne and oysters, martinis and lobsters, or simple burgers and beers, Rogue caters to all tastes.
What a fantastic lunch we had here. It was the first time dining here, but it won't be the last. We checked out the menu and found they served Cullen skink, that was it for me, sold! We went in and got a table, placed our order, Cullen skink with artisan bread and butter, macaroni with enduja sausage and a side of thrice fried (in beef dripping) chunky chips. Latte and a juice. Can I just say the Cullen skink was one of if not the best I have had in a long time. The macaroni tasted really nice and the chips were good too. The prices reflected the quality and quantity of the food served. A bargain for St. Andrews, getting this quality of food at a great price. The servers were polite, prompt and well presented. The toilets were clean and tidy.

We were excited to try Rouge, so we headed to the restaurant around noon on a Wednesday. For the first hour, we were the only table of two in the place. It took some time for the first item—the soup—to arrive. The red pepper soup was hot and flavorful, but at £7 for a small bowl, it came with just a slice of cold bread, which felt underwhelming. After finishing the soup, we had another wait before lunch was served. I ordered the fish and chips, which were tasty, while my friend opted for the pork belly. While beautifully presented, the pork belly fell short on flavor and was just okay. On a positive note, we really liked the restaurant's interior decor—it had a charming and inviting atmosphere. Hopefully, the food improves on our next visit, as we’re keen to give it another try!

Wow. The food here is really great. We ordered crab cakes, charcuterie board, kids steak and chips, a ribeye, and the pork belly. We’ve traveled all over Scotland and so far this is the THE BEST steak we’ve had. It was seasoned and cooked beautifully! I got the pork belly and that needed more seasoning, but everything else was amazing! Our server was really nice and did a great job, also! We’ll definitely be back.

Nice atmosphere, great service, some of the best cocktails we’ve ever had, and the food was out of this world. Highly recommend!! We had the ox cheek over bone marrow as a starter. For entres we had the venison loin over mashed with bourbon glazed carrots and a crusted pork belly over sweet potato puree. Drinks we enjoyed were a amaretto sour, classic negroni, black cherry manhattan, and a kings old fashioned. YUM!

A Wednesday night in St Andrews is not just for the student sport mob. Get yourself down to Rogue and order the Steak Odyssey. Three cuts of delicously prepared steak, sides and sauces. We also had the Cotes Du Rhone which paired excellently. Lauren C and the team were brilliant, knowledgeable and so friendly. Lauren even chased us down the street, in a nice way, with my Mother-In-Laws umbrella that she left. Keep up the good work.

Indian restaurant
Indian takeaway
Seafood restaurant
Maisha is a charming eatery in St Andrews, Fife, offering authentic Bengali cuisine with a focus on fish and seafood. The restaurant prides itself on its Indian and seafood dishes, featuring a special section dedicated to fresh local produce infused with delectable Indian spices. Dishes like mackerel bhuna, sea bass dupiaza, tandoori haddock, and a generous seafood platter showcase the fusion of traditional Indian and Scottish coastal flavors.
It has been 15 years since we first had the salmon Bhuna and the colonial king prawn curry and they did not disappoint. For years we have talked about these curry dishes and we had to come back to try them. The staff were brilliant and we were extremely well looked after. A great revisit to an old favourite restaurant.
Gemma B — Google review
Unfortunately I didn't really enjoy the meal. The paratha and naan weren't bad but found the daal quite bland and watery and the tandoori tilapia and tuna kebabs were dry. I wouldn't say it was awful and I did finish my meal but I wouldn't return. Perhaps it is better if you eat in, that is sometimes the case, especially with fish dishes which don't always necessarily travel well.
Rosalind A — Google review
As for the food, it was nothing short of exceptional. Every dish was prepared with care and attention to detail, and the flavors were absolutely delicious. The menu offered a great variety, with something for everyone, and the quality of ingredients used was apparent in every bite. What an unforgettable night. After trying multiple restaurants in St Andrews, no where would sit a table of 6. However this lovely establishment scooped us up out of the storm and served us the most delicious meal. I heavily recommend the chicken dupiatza. The chicken was beautifully tender and moist and overall had a sensational flavour profile. If you are looking for a good Indian in St Andrews, you have found the place.

Went in for evening meal with my wife. I ordered a tandoori chicken and my wife ordered tandoori sea bass. Both was delicious, although mine was on the smallish side. Mine came with rice and salad included in the price. Sea bass was slightly overpriced considering no rice with meal. Overall nice meal and relaxing atmosphere. Staff friendly

I had a booking confirmed for 7pm on a Friday. When my friend and I arrived, the restaurant was almost empty, yet we were told to come back in 45–60 minutes, with a 25% discount offered as the chef was “busy.” When we returned at 8pm, we saw a large group being served immediately, showing our booking had not been honoured and that the larger party was clearly prioritised. We were then told we’d be waiting another hour for our food, so we decided to leave. I did not appreciate being misled and would have preferred honesty about their capacity at 7pm. Unfortunately, this resulted in us wasting a Friday night in St Andrews and having to settle for takeaway.

I highly recommend Tulsi St Andrews to anyone looking for an outstanding dining experience. Whether you're here for a special occasion or just a delightful evening out, you won't be disappointed. Mitchell offers a quaint, charming setting for breakfast, lunch and dinner with local produce being king. The deli also has excellent measures of Covid so it's perfect for those looking for quality food without having to break the bank. The staff are welcoming and helpful and overall this is an excellent place to start the day.
Great food and drinks, with plenty of options to choose from. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and Noah who served our table was polite and efficient. We had in fact visited for cocktails the night before, which were delicious, when Noah had accommodated us sitting in the quieter bar, The Hide, upstairs where he delivered cocktails as we ordered on them via the app. Freshly made wraps and sandwiches were excellent, served with fries, and the soup was lovely too. Great atmosphere and dining experience when visiting St Andrews.

Amazing! Must stop in St. Andrews! Howard is an amazing server! We tried the Spanish omelette, hamburger, fajita wrap, and avocado toast. All delicious and the sticky toffee pudding was delicious! Go see Howard! Beautiful decorations!

We came to the restaurant without reservations and the guy at the door told us to try the cafe next door. I thought they were the same restaurant just with separate entrances? Very pretty and rustic interior. Anyways we were seated upstairs as I believe tables downstairs were booked out even though only a few patrons were there. But there was a lady servicing our table upstairs and she was great. Ordered our food and it was served pretty quickly. The fish & chips were SOLID. Probably the best fish and chips I've ever had! Chips were perfection too. The pasta was ok although it could do with a bit more seasoning. But it gets too much after a few bites as it was very creamy. Drinks were ok, I should've stuck with ginger ale... Overall a pretty enjoyable meal which was unexpected. A gem!

Stopped here during a tour of St Andrew’s for a bite to eat. We ordered the fish and chips because it’s Scotland! Delicious through and through. They had a couple of drink specials they are trying out for the winter. The Key Lime drink was really good, but N.A. tried the Cherry Wine, tasted like a cherry cordial. A warm tipper as they say. Lovely staff, charming place.

Howard was a fantastic server along with all the other staff. Headed to the coast at St Andrews and stopped for brunch at Mitchell. I kicked off with a beautifully presented hot chocolate, followed by a proper Scottish bite: a haggis bap. Great start to the day with lovely food and atmosphere.

Walked in without reservation. Looking at menu, there were alot of options which sounded delicious. I opted for curried cod goujons with shoe string potato. This was very disappointing! The goujons didn't have any hint of curried flavour and very little cod inside, largely batter. The 'shoestring potato' served were in fact I suspect frozen curly fries. Absolutely not worth £18 price tag! Chicken skewers were also very small, roughly half a breast worth. Truffle crisps were tasty but £5 worth was very small portion size-much less than you would get in a small standard packet of crisps. Coconut sweetcorn ribs were lovely and tasty. On paying for our bill, our feedback was met with a shrug of the shoulder and fleeting comment of passing it over to the chef. Atmosphere is lovely, but the food is highly over priced and doesn't deliver the quality we would expect with this level of pricing.

In town for a brief time whilst travelling with our tour group and walked into Mitchells Deli for lunch today. Luired in by the quaint shop front, we were greeted with lovely decore and a relaxed and cosy atmosphere. We enjoyed our delicious lunch, order taken and served promptly with a little wit. Thank you Howard for your quirky humour, efficient service, making our brief lunch stop a lovely memory. Would thoroughly recommend. The Australian and American ladies.

Nestled on Murray Place, Ziggys has been a vibrant hub for rock-themed dining since 1983. This lively restaurant is not just about the music; it boasts an eclectic menu that features gourmet burgers alongside a variety of international dishes and local favorites. Whether you're in the mood for mouthwatering sandwiches, fresh salads, or hearty vegetarian options, Ziggys has something to satisfy every palate. The atmosphere is electric with weekly live music that enhances your dining experience.
Our recent visit to Ziggy's was great! The food was absolutely delicious and the portion sizes were very generous. Ziggy's offers a fantastic selection of steaks, burgers, and fajitas that are full of flavour and beautifully presented. The kids' menu had plenty of choices which would suit even the fussiest children, making it perfect for families. To top it off, the prices were very reasonable, making it great value for the quality of the meal. Our family of four, including two adults and two kids, loved every moment of our dining experience. A special shoutout to our server, who we think was called Ailsa based on the info on our receipt. She was incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed which added to our wonderful experience. The service in general was quick and efficient. We highly recommend Ziggy's to anyone visiting St Andrews or looking for a new place to try. We can’t wait to go back!

Ordered the ribs with hickory sauce. They were delicious. Margarita was also spot on. Staff very accommodating and friendly. Location gets busy and doesn’t seat loads of people so be organized. No complaints other than I wish the portion of chips was bigger to make sure I didn’t miss any of the hickory sauce.

Been visiting here on and off since 1992 and it never disappoints. Always seems to be regularly renovated and with a visit this week it’s had a makeover, new memorabilia and now a larger Paul Weller & Beatle section. Food is excellent and portion size is large. Drink offers also for 2 pint pitchers or 4 bottles. Excellent start to the St.Andrews evening. One new annoyance with technology is the regular Deliveroo alert alarm & then their cyclists with their big back-packs coming in the front door then been sent round the back. Should all be unseen & not disturbing the sit-in customers.

Visited on a luvly sunny evening so opted to sit outside in their luvly garden area. Friendly welcome from staff, ordered garlic prawns to share, chicken fajitas and the Greedy Burger, which was massive, also enjoyed their white house wine. All food was delicious and freshly made. Really good, unique and tasty wraps. This restaurant offers delicious wraps in the heart of St Andrews. I would recommend the wraps as they are authentic and tasty. For example they have some with goat cheese, chilli jam, pastrami and salad. Or you could get a random one! The restaurant is relatively small with some seating inside and just two tables outside. The staff are nice and friendly. I'm giving 4 stars because their burgers are average and at busy times you could wait a lot. On my visit, I waited 45 minutes which was too long. Overall, I'd recommend you visit and order a wrap.

We had a pleasure to be served by gentlemen name George and can't praise him enough for his great, professional service and cheerful attitude. Lad was going out and beyond to make us feel welcomed, which was super nice. He should definitely get a rise. Place got great food, best Schnitzel i ever had. First class beef burger and dough balls Portion massive, prices fair. Atmosphere is great, cheerful, tons of laughter. Every Friday and Saturday they got live music on. Had dinner at the Vic yesterday and it was fantastic! The particular highlights were the chicken and bacon waffle stack with maple butter, although this was a special so don’t know if it is a regular thing. Really fun and friendly venue. Good vibes and all the staff are brilliant. Nicole especially had great customer service and engaged really well with us as a group! Couldn't fault her or any other staff! Highly recommend for a fun night.
Ryan B — Google review
I visited this establishment a few years ago and left with a sour taste due to extremely rude service. I vowed never to return. However, during my visit this weekend in St Andrews, several friends recommended it, assuring me things had improved. So I decided to give it another chance, unfortunately, it was a mistake. At first, the evening showed promise. The venue had a lively atmosphere, with great live music and a bustling crowd. We didn’t get a table straight away, which was understandable given how busy it was. After about 10 minutes, a departing group kindly offered us their table. With drinks in hand and music playing, we were settling in for what seemed to be an enjoyable night. That changed an hour later. After spending a considerable amount on drinks, a staff member approached our group of four (at a 4-person table) and placed a sheet of paper down, stating we had to vacate the table in 30 minutes due to a reservation- for 15 people at 10:45pm. It was hard to believe such a small table would be used for that, but we reluctantly agreed to finish our drinks and leave if asked. 10:45 came and went and the large party never showed, but the uncomfortable feeling lingered, worrying we’d be moved at any moment. We eventually decided to move to the nightclub area, and that’s where the night truly fell apart. The bar was packed, but we patiently waited our turn. When we finally made it to the front, we noticed only two bartenders handling a large crowd. As we stood there waiting, a male patron walked up beside us. Despite clearly seeing that we had been waiting for nearly 10 minutes, the female bartender immediately went to serve him. I explained that we had been waiting and were next, when she immediately raised her hand and said, “I don’t serve people who shout at me,” despite the fact that I hadn’t raised my voice. Then she walked away. My husband waited another 10 minutes, still unserved. When a second man stepped up beside him, the same bartender ignored my husband and started serving the new arrival. To his credit, the customer even pointed out my husband was next, but she completely ignored him. I approached again and asked why she was clearly refusing to serve us and instead of addressing the situation, she simply walked away through a door behind the bar. This level of unprofessionalism and blatant disrespect from the staff, both in the bar and the nightclub, is absolutely appalling. The attitude from multiple staff members felt more like a power trip than customer service. Despite the years between visits, both experiences have been shockingly similar; poor treatment, rude staff, and a general lack of professionalism. This is clearly not just a one-off bad night. I’ve been visiting St Andrews for over 10 years, several times a year, and have never had such a negative experience in any other pub, club, restaurant, or café. Frankly, the staff here could benefit from serious customer service training. Respect, courtesy, and basic hospitality seem to be sorely lacking. After leaving, we went to another late-night venue where the staff were welcoming, friendly, and efficient, the difference was like night and day. Needless to say, I will never be back, and I’ll actively advise others to steer clear.

Nestled beneath the iconic Hamilton Grand and just a stone's throw from the legendary Old Course, Hams Hame Pub & Grill is a delightful culinary destination that promises more than just a meal. This charming venue specializes in locally sourced seafood, succulent steaks, and an impressive whiskey selection, all served in a relaxed yet classy atmosphere.
This is a wonderful restaurant right across from the number 1T of the old course. The food was terrific. The steak sandwiches, brisket sandwiches and salads were amazing. Good value for the food.

Although the staff were lovely I have to say we were very disappointed with the cost and quality of the food and drinks provided. I am more than happy to pay £18.50 for a meal but not when you only get 5 bits of butter chicken in a curry and a spoonful of rice and a mini naan. £18 for a chicken parmigiana that was over cooked and dry with a tasteless pasta was hugely overpriced as was £11 for a glass of house Rose and £8.50 for a pint of lager - the saving grace was the truffle and Parmesan fries at £7 and the fudge ice cream recommended by our lovely young female waitress which came in a pre-packed tub - golf in the multiple TVs which you’d expect I suppose in St Andrews but a bit of background music may have enhanced the atmosphere a bit. All in all - 4 bus journeys to and from Kirriemuir to St Andrews and £83 for a mediocre lunch date did not make for a day trip we’d be in a hurry to repeat unfortunately.

We had a day trip in St Andrews and went here for lunch. At the beginning we intended to go to the Michelin Restaurant nearly but the choices on set menu weren’t irresistible enough, yet quite expensive. Then we found this pup restaurant which is only 5-min walk from the Michelin Seafood Ristorante. Fish and chips is yummy. Burger is one of the best in Scotland according to my son. Thank you Chef! Staff team is friendly and helpful. Vibe is good too.

While I was excited to try out this pub, we were unable to enter. I am a wheelchair user, so I went to the wheelchair accessible entrance, where we rang the bell and waited for a while, reringing every now and then. If your accessible entrance isnt working or isnt properly staffed, then that should be advertised or fixed.

Location, location, location right next to the Old Links at St. Andrews. So, the rent must be high and thus we understand high prices. Had the Mac & Cheese with a quantity of Dalwhinnie 15yr. Very nice lunch. The server was excellent and told a joke unfortunately I cannot repeat here, but she made us laugh mightily. It is a typical pub, and theee is golf playing on all the big screen TV's.

20 pounds for a frozen burger. The service was poor, they took 45 minutes for 3 burgers and chicken tenders when there were barely any tables filled. We never got our drinks refilled or ever checked on. The kids running it just sat behind the bar and talked amongst themselves and the kid that greeted us acted like we just kicked his dog walking in.

Was recommended by our driver. Great location, easy to get a table but as most of Scotland the food is a very far second to the Golf. Disappointing brisket sandwich. Haggus is not for me. Garlic mushrooms were awesome. The meat pie was just ok. Very nice atmosphere and drinks were good as well as the service

Cafe
Breakfast restaurant
Northpoint Café, a charming spot near the beach in St Andrews, gained fame as a favorite meeting place of Prince William and Kate Middleton during their university days. The bustling and cozy atmosphere makes it perfect for casual study sessions or lazy brunches with friends. Their breakfast menu offers freshly baked scones, tea, and an extravagant breakfast burrito, while the lunch menu includes soups, panini, and toasted bagels.
I absolutely love this place! The portions are generous, especially considering the price. I am gluten intolerant and there are gluten free substitutes for pancakes and toasties (bread) and for gluten free products they are very good. I had a halloumi chorizo toastie which came with homemade soup, salad and chips-not fries but potato chips/crisps. I also had a mocha which was very good. The soup was very cosy and comforting and my sister had pancakes, beans, bacon, sausage and eggs which were all very good. I really recommend coming here the staff is very friendly. It was crowded because it’s a popular place so we had to wait but not long only 5-10 minutes. They also have delicious cakes, I’ve heard positive things about the carrot cake and the hot chocolate.
Ondine S — Google review
I had lunch here with my friends and we absolutely loved it! The staff were very friendly, and the atmosphere was bustling yet cosy. The food was delicious, with vegan options available. I tried both the bagel and the toasties, and they were both fantastic. The meal was also quite affordable. I’d definitely love to come back again sometime!

We were visiting St Andrews for a day trip from Stirling and walked around town. We found out that this was where Prince William and Kate met. It had good reviews and we went for lunch. It is a casual cafe and busy. Our server was nice. Our food and drinks were good.

Well worth a visit. Not pretentious in any way. I chose cappuccino and a bacon roll. Both were hot and delicious and only £6.75. The bacon was crispy just how I like it. Thank you 👍

This was our first time in St.Andrews and the reviews for this place were really good. When we arrived the staff were very helpful with finding us a seat, especially as the cafe was very busy. We sat outside and, apart from the wasps, the atmosphere was good. We were both really excited to try the American brunch. The pancakes and bacon were great. The eggs, however, ruined our experience. We’re having putting it into words, but they were soft, hard, watery, overcooked, undercooked, and rubbery all at once. We’re not sure how they managed it.

I gotta be honest it was really grubby, I don’t mind it being mismatched and quirky but it was actually filthy. The food I was served was like prison food, worst quality cheap flavourless ingredients and when I reached for salt and pepper it was dust and greasy. My cup and teapot was also so stained and nasty and I went to go to the bathroom but changed my mind when I saw the state of it 😭 please guys you have such a gem there’s no need for it to be this shameful

If you are around St Andrews and need a place to restore, I highly recommend you to take a sit in this place and try one of their wonderful scones! This cafe has plenty of vegan option too, and many cakes on the list. I enjoyed every second. Also their coffee is quite nice

The food was very good if you don't mind waiting over 2 hours to get served. The manager did not even care about the wait. We had a reservation at eight but didn't get our dinner till after ten. What a way to ruin a gray day.
Larry Y — Google review
Restaurant set in the iconic old course hotel, looking out over the famous golf course and ocean (amazing views). Restaurant ambience and design gorgeous. Food decent - quite expensive for what you get but everything we ate was fine without blowing my mind. Starters of lamb tartare and spring pea curd, mains of beef fillet (cooked beautifully) and pasta, and a wonderful dessert of rhubarb, custard soufflé with pistachio ice cream (the culinary highlight!!). Service was a bit chaotic and unexpectedly lax for the level of restaurant and hotel. Had to wait really too long for every stage - order taking, plate collection etc - and most of the time had to prompt the server to come and do it. Feels like they have a mix of highly professional long term staff (who were great), and short term cover (perhaps students?) who were less well trained and not so good. Whatever it is, there was clearly a divide and it was a bit annoying when you’re paying that much.

Good food with a stunning view - unfortunately let down by bad service. We had to wait over an hour between the starter and our main course and one member of our party was given the wrong main course. We didn’t end up staying for dessert. The staff explained that the kitchen is cooking for two restaurants, but if this is the case then they need to hire more chefs. Such a shame.

Great restaurant on the 4th floor of the Saint Andrews Hotel overlooking the 17th hole of the old course. Food and service were fantastic!

This is a lovely hotel and a lovely restaurant, but my review concerns the bar. If it’s not the most poorly managed bar I have ever been in. I would be surprised and I’m willing to my 70s. Both times we have gone in there with very few other people, they’ve had three people behind the bar 10 customers and it takes between 20 and 30 minutes to have a drink made and delivered. They’re losing a lot of money as a result and causing a great deal of irritation. Love the hotel love the location love the people in the restaurant, but avoid this bar at all costs.

Taste is a popular coffee shop in St. Andrews known for serving some of the best coffee in town and staying open until 10pm, making it a great spot for late-night study sessions. The menu offers diverse options to cater to different tastes, all made with locally sourced fresh ingredients. The cozy atmosphere makes it an ideal place for a leisurely lunch. In addition to its excellent coffee, Taste also offers delicious croissants that pair perfectly with your drink.
The best coffee anywhere in town. No rip off prices, fresh and warm pastries replenished throughout the day and warm lunchtime sandwiches which are brilliant. Great for sit in or takeaway and service with a smile every time. (Long black half fill the cup) see you next summer. John
John S — Google review
Usually excellent but this morning, I was served the tiniest and saddest cup of coffee froth. It also turned out that most of the (pictured) cup of coffee (which was supposed to a latte) was foam. I always order a small latte which usually comes full as you’d expect and with a small layer of foam. This is the first time I’ve ever been served an inadequate cup of coffee here. Hopefully a one off!
S B — Google review
Latte art is lovely. The coffee could have a little more flavor and is a little burnt this time; fortunately there’s still a slightly nutty aftertaste. Pastries are on the sweet side. The paninis are glorious. Grilled super crispy and filled with tasty Parma ham, artichoke, sun dried tomatoes, cheese, and pesto. There aren’t many other options in the small town so I guess it’s good enough.

Tiny, trendy but actually worth a visit. A snug with a student vibe and cool aesthetic. Very chilled playlist along with happy chat made for good atmosphere. Flat white good without being memorable and Pastel de Nata rarely misses the mark

Wow, what a place, over looking the Old Course. View was stunning, service was exceptional, and the food was out of this world. Not a single fault. Staff were friendly, polite, attentive, and everything was clean and immaculate. Food was fresh and was unreal. Highly recommended.

Cute place, fabulous views, craft cocktails were also good... service though - sad face 😢😕 If no one is there, it's great! If they start getting busy, just go to the bar and order directly. Seriously. We'd been there for one round but then it got busier. They forgot our order completely. After 20 minutes, we ordered again. How do you forget twice and now it's about an hour. Meanwhile, the servers and two additional people behind the bar prioritized anyone who came up to the bar. At an hour, we canceled our order and left. Crazy... so go for the view. Have a drink. Go somewhere else. Sorry. Not a fan.

I highly recommend Swilcan Loft. The view is fantastic and ambience equally so. I ordered shepherd's pie and my son ordered chicken skewers with fried rice. The food was excellent and of course we saved space for dessert. The Baked Alaska was so good, the mint cream was perfect. My son ordered Sticky Toffee Pudding, Carrot Cake with ice cream drizzled with caramel. Obviously that combination is amazing and he confirmed it was. Staff is friendly, prices are fair, dress is evening casual.

Not sure about some reviews on here. We had an amazing experience. My wife and I dined here on 28 June 25. The staff, service and food were excellent. What a great spot! I was a bit skeptical because of previous reviews but this place is definitely worth a visit. Our food was delicious, the service was excellent and the views were the cherry on top. Our large group of 9 all cleared our entree plates - fried rice, Shepards pie, rib eye and fillet. We topped off our meal with dessert of sticky toffee pudding, cheesecake and baked Alaska and they all matched the meal. Definitely give this place a try - it did not disappoint!

Over priced. £5.50 for water !!! Asked for medium rib eye. It went back twice to be cooked. Starter of scallop ( singular) was one forkful. Friday night and place was empty and I am not surprised, very expensive , forgettable food. Will not return and will not recommend. We are local so used to St Andrews prices and other restaurants in town leave this in their wake. Staff were lovely.

Our group of 5 had a lovely meal in here today! The food was delicious! Lots of options and menu choices (we had 2 fussy eaters who are hard to please 🙈) the food and service couldn’t be faulted. The decor inside is very unusual but very quirky and beautiful inside! It was a rainy day in St. Andrews when we arrived here so we were delighted to be recommended the Bothy and we were very happy here and would recommend to anyone passing by! Yummy food. 🥘

We cannot thank The Bothy enough for making our wedding the most magical night of our lives! From planning all the way from the US, Yasmine was an absolute dream — kind, patient, and reassuring every step of the way. On the day, Erin and Becky went above and beyond, making every guest feel seen and cared for. The venue, the food, the staff — everything felt effortless, warm, and perfect. Even the bartender (whose name we missed!) added her own special touch. The Bothy isn’t just a venue — it’s a team that makes your day truly unforgettable. Every single moment felt full of joy & this place will forever hold a special place in our heart. 🥹❤️ Mr. & Mrs. Jones

Lovely dinner and experience at The Bothy St. Andrews. The space is lovely, with plush comfy seating that felt a bit retro. Service was delightful: friendly and kind. Food was terrific. Mussels were a highlight as the sauce was delicate and delicious. Duck breast was tender and flavorful. But the cod was the star - flakey and subtle flavors enhanced by the sauce. One slight niggle: the booths are back to back so when the person or people in the booth behind you lean forward and back it moves your back as well - and we had a very fidgety person behind us. But overall fantastic dinner experience.

Burgers are terrible!!! I understand this isn't a place to order burgers but that was the only thing I enjoy. It was £20 which was a lot so I expected it to me amazing and it wasn't. The atmosphere was great, but none of the food met my expectations.

We called in as a party of four with four dogs and were very warmly welcomed by the two friendliest waitresses I have ever had the pleasure to meet (sorry I didn’t get their names). Nothing was too much trouble and they were so helpful. We ordered drinks and lunch - sandwiches were absolutely lovely as was the soup. A beautifully decorated restaurant, with great food and superb staff - doesn’t get much better really. Would highly recommend and will definitely return.

I was visiting St. Andrew’s with a friend and we loved the aesthetic, and menu which looked amazing. They were busy, but accommodated us. The service overall was good, but communication could have been better. The water was unexpectedly pricey, and there was a surprise service fee at the end. I ordered the deep fried brie appetizer. Our server mentioned it was small, but could be shared. It was even smaller than expected….It tasted good, but wouldn’t order again due to the size. Definitely not worth £7. For the main course I ordered the Squash and Feta Wellington. I kept eating and looking for the feta which I did not find. The beets that were on the menu description were also missing. Again, portion was small. Left hungry. The cappuccino was excellent, definitely the best part of my meal. I’d like to be clear that I’m not being critical of the price, because I would have been happy to pay if the food lived up to the expectation set by the price, atmosphere and description on the website.
Mik G — Google review
We visited on a Sunday night, cosy restaurant, busy, with a good atmosphere! My first comment is a personal preference; I don't dislike dogs, but I don't like dogs in restaurants, there was a terrier two tables down, it didn't bark often but it was disturbing when it did, at least it was on the floor. As we were leaving, another dog came in and was sat at a booth, not on the floor, but sitting up on the seat. The barman brought over our bottle of red. Comically, he didn't know how to use the corkscrew, he made hard word of it but got the cork out in the end without any bits of cork in the wine. The wine was excellent! My wife sent the haggis starter back because it was stone cold, a new one arrived shortly after, she described it as delicious! Minor point, when the replacement was delivered the waitress said she would check if it was OK, she didn't. I had the Cullen Skink, it was excellent. I ordered the lamb roast but was sent the wrong dish, it was fixed quickly and tasted great. My wife's roast beef was delivered without a Yorkshire pudding. It was quickly sorted. Finally, and most damning comment concerns the roast beef, it was tough and almost impossible to cut and really, really chewy. On the plus side the veg was delicious. All of our issues were resolved promptly, but overall, we didn't really enjoy our experience and probably would not return.

Excellent steakhouse within two blocks of the Old Course. Two or three course pairing. We opted for two courses to include steak, chips, salad, and dessert. We added oysters. With three rounds of the drinks the total came to about £80 including gratuity. Excellent service.

Based on reviews I was hopeful. Sadly, my experience was poor. Let me start by saying service was good and when I complained about a course it was removed without question. However, there is no other way to describe the food as poor. Tasteless sourdough, inedible chicken supreme, and chips fried in old fat. We didn’t mention all the issues as the long suffering waiter was excellent. To add insult to injury he wasn’t able to accept a tip by card. “It just disappears”. Good location but I would avoid.

Service very slow even though the place was quiet. Some staff seemed to spend most of their time chatting. We only had a few snacks but they were very good. Outside area could have been cleaner. Staff were slow to clear tables so a large seagull did it for them..

Amazing Quality food! I recently took my partner here for his birthday meal, and the service and quality of food was nothing sort of the best. I had the Smoked mackerel pate to start, followed by a huge portion of the most succulent fresh fish and chips you could ask for. I topped all this off with Italian ice cream! in short if you are looking for high quality food for a reasonable price, look no further! Thanks for an amazing meal!

Its clientele includes notable figures such as Jon Rahm and Victor Hovland. The staff were consistently friendly and helpful, and I will certainly return on my next visit to the area.

Comfortable indian restaurant. Praise to the friendly staff, they were well informed about allergy requirements and were forthcoming and funny. The food was delicious. We loved watching the fish in the fountain in the centre of the restaurant.

10/10 for food, drinks & service. The staff couldn't be more friendly towards us and our son. Food is outstanding, probably one of the best curries I've had...quick service and nice ice cold beer on tap. Can't wait to be back again 👍

Visited St Andrews today with husband and two friends up on holiday from Kent. We decided to opt for the 3 course lunch and a what a great choice! The food was delicious....we all had different choices and could not fault it! The service was prompt and all the staff were so friendly and helpful! Lovely restaurant with great atmosphere! Would definitely visit and totally recommend.

Quite busy for a weeknight dinner bur staff is very friendly and accommodating. The lamb chop tandoori was delicious, as was the garlic Naan. Very reasonable prices.

Dined in on Saturday. We were a party of sixteen. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The main courses were served together(no small task). The food was fantastic . I have been eating Indian food since the seventies, this was by far the best I've tasted. Altogether if I could I would give it six stars. A tremendous dining experience. Thank you to all the staff for helping to make a great night.

While the prices are decent (especially the express course meal) and the place is comfortable, it is a bit disappointing for an Indian palate.

After a long lovely day when we went to their restaurant for just a cup of tea. That guy on reception (NO OFFENCE) was so rude. The way he said “NO THIS PLACE IS TO SIT INSIDE AND FOR FOOD” was the worst experience of my entire life. Basically that guy ruined everything we experienced in surrounding! HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED

The Vine Leaf is a family-owned restaurant located on South Street, offering an eclectic menu featuring dishes made from local produce. The space is carpeted with exposed ceiling beams and framed art, creating a cozy and comfortable atmosphere. Run by a friendly St. Andrean couple for nearly 30 years, the restaurant has a homey vibe and sources fresh herbs, berries, and lobsters from their own garden and local fisherman friend Shane.
THE BEST FOOD I HAVE EVER HAD! I went with two other people and we all agreed that the food was ridiculously good. I'm lucky enough to have been to one of Gordon Ramsay's restaurants, and The Vine Leaf was better than that! Good service, very nice servers. I highly recommend the three prawn dish! The food here is so good that it makes you question your daily food choices... Everything you've ever had will taste bland in comparison!
Kalina C — Google review
Menu had so much to choose from. I'd like to try everything. The fig starter was amazing.
Carol T — Google review
Over priced and completely unaware of it's own identity. Menu too big and the execution is amateur at best. Most of the food was bland and the Game platter was overcooked to the point of being ridiculous. The welcome was nice, but then we waited nearly 50 minutes between courses which is not good. For nearly £180 we could've eaten a much nicer meal in a much nicer place. Won't be coming back and won't be recommending it to anyone else.

First time at The Vine Leaf. ST. Andrews and we will definitely be back. We were welcomed and shown to the table and given menus. Got our drinks and ordered. I had the Greek lamb and my husband had the Game trio. The food was amazing! Well presented and the vegetables were served separately which I think is a good idea as you can decide how much or how little you want. The dessert menu was very good and my husband had the baked Alaska which he said was great! I could only manage a coffee. All in all a very good meal and great service!

Excellent food and service. Extensive menu guaranteed to have something for everyone. Fillet steak was first class as was the lemon sole according to my better half. Highly recommended but you need to book well in advance.

Top Secret! Most wonderful place, the food and service are fabulous. Was delighted to bring a group of well travelled foodies to eat there recently and they were delighted with the whole experience. It is amazing value with a large selection to chose from. Would recommend the place without hesitation. You need to book in order not to be disappointed, it may take some finding as it is up a wee lane off South Street, but really worth the effort.

We have been enjoying the food and atmosphere that Ian and Morag are masters at for 30 years. We first went in 1988 when they were a fledgling business which has gone from strength to strength. The food is always amazing from start to finish with flavour bursting from every mouthful. Great atmosphere, Ian is always very welcoming. We love it as our go to place every year, for birthdays, anniversaries or just because days. If you love good food and not been to the Vine Leaf you are seriously missing a food heaven experience.

The Rule is a modern pub in St. Andrews offering slow-cooked dishes, ribs, burgers, and craft beer. It features a garden and TV sport for a relaxed dining experience. The pub is part of a mix of pubs and bars catering to various tastes and occasions in the area. Whether you're looking for a hip student haunt or a more down-to-earth atmosphere, there are options available.
I was at The Rule recently for a boozy brunch and had an absolutely amazing experience. The food was awesome – tasty, fresh, and just the right portions. The drinks were flowing and strong enough to keep the brunch vibe alive 🍹😄 A special shout-out to James for his exceptional service – super friendly, attentive without being overbearing, and really made us feel welcome. It’s rare to get that kind of energy these days! For the price, food, drinks, and the chilled-out ambience, it’s 100% worth it. I’ll definitely be back again soon. 🙌

Visited recently for a boozy brunch! 2 of us are expecting so were on mocktails but they were amazing! Shout out to Megan who went above and beyond to make us feel as included as the drinkers. She was more than happy to experiment so we still got our espresso martini cravings met! 😂 She wasn’t overbearing but was always available when we needed anything. She managed to move our booking to accommodate us outside in the sunshine too which was fab. The food was also great! Will definitely be back again! Thanks Megan! ☺️

Great food, great drink, and that’s about it. Despite being a chain the food was cracking, and the boozy slushies were more than enjoyed as it was 28° when me and my friend visited. Friendly staff, but slow service. Waited at the bar in excess of 5 minutes to order drinks, there was no queue, just no staff behind bar. Lovely member of staff took some music requests, which was very nice. Atmosphere is a bit dull, I however visited on a weekday, I could imagine it being more lively and vibrant on a weekend. Would definitely pop in again next time I’m in St Andrews.

An amazing place to spend time with your family and friends. This place has a great atmosphere and friendly staff. A beer garden is also available for bookings. The food was amazing. Cooked well, tasted well and was served in a decent time. The only things I did not like were the black, hard and burnt outer sides of the pizza. The cakes in the desserts too were very hard.

Went with several friends to have some food and a drink or two and chat for the evening. About thirty minutes into our stay, after we'd ordered, live music started. This would have been great, had it not been so loud (through the speakers) that it had stiffled all conversation and forced my friend with a cochlear implant to spend most of the time we waited for our food outside to eat. When I went up to ask the bartender to turn the speakers down to a moderate (still loud, but manageable level), she scoffed at me and said that it's live music and you should just enjoy it. The food was anywhere from mediocre to bad, even for St. Andrews standards, and I highly recommend any of the other wonderful pubs in town.

Loved this pub in central st Andrews. Decent sized garden and seating inside. Attentive, helpful staff. We had fish and chips and Mac and cheese with additional haggis (upon recommndation of one of the staff members - and boy was it spot on!). Laid back atmosphere and delicious food. Very wide variety of drinks, and huge selection of Scotch.

Lived up to the hype! This was my most anticipated destination on my recent vacation and it was everything I would hope it would be. No wonder it's almost always packed. Without question, you have to get their famous pies. The only question is which one. I went with the steak and ale, and it was amazing. The burger was also extremely good. Drinks were unique and delicious. The service was A+ exceptional. The manager seemed like a really good guy as well. I hope to be back sooner rather than later.

Had dinner here on a Monday and had about a 30 minute wait. I think it was move-in week at the University, so the wait was probably longer than normal, but it's definitely a popular place. We ended up being seated outside, which was fine, nothing great about the atmosphere out there besides being in St. Andrews. For food, we had the Steak & Ale Cri Pie, which was good, but not great. I believe this is one of the things they are known for. Again good, but I've had better elsewhere. Also had the Cullen Skink, which was excellent. That is my favorite Scottish dish and this one didn't disappoint. My daughter had nachos, which apparently is a big thing with the kids in Scotland, and she liked those. Criterion is one of her favorite restaurants as a student at St. Andrews. Service was good. Overall, was a good meal.
Dave H — Google review
Lovely place to meet for food. The cullen skink and dirty fries were amazing. Not sure what the fuss was about with the Cri' Pies, even though they are tasty, they are just a normal pie although quite pricey. The staff and service were excellent and we enjoyed our lunch. They didn't rush us even though it was very busy and were very helpful and attentive.
Big D — Google review
Food is pretty good and servings are HUGE so share if you are a small eater like me! The signature pie is really delish. Love the variety on the menu and this place is always packed so we were lucky to score a table during our last visit. Come early to avoid disappointment. Everyone wanted to sit inside and watch the telly or be near the bar, but I found that space a little crammed and noisy TBH. Service although friendly, could def be more attentive. We had to wave for service a few times as the servers were by the entrance chatting.
D3AR C — Google review
Lunch for three on a Saturday afternoon, no wait for a table, we had Cri Pie (chicken & chorizo), Chicken Salad with Brie & Bacon, 6oz Cheeseburger with Fries and Coleslaw with Onion Rings. The staff were very intense, although friendly they wouldn’t leave us alone, after ordering our first drink we were asked another twice are we ready to order our first drink again with different staff members, the same with food, after we ordered we were asked again were we ready to order, it’s a fine line between good service and annoying your customers, I expect this from a large chain not a small family pub. The food arrived promptly, shame the Coleslaw was off with the Burger and they forgot to put Brie & Bacon on the Salad, the Onion Rings were all batter with very little onion. The Salad was okay and I’m told the Burger and Pie was good, I just think the staff are under pressure to flip the tables asap to get the next customers in from the queue outside.

10/18/2025 - We stopped in for lunch. This establishment was quite busy. We were seated immediately. I was astounded to find nachos, but I shouldn't have been. Nachos were okay. Cheddar cheese was melted on top and around the edge, but no cheese under the top level. The salsa had a sweet taste, which I'm unaccustomed to. The jalapeño was good. I like heat. Mac & cheese was okay, but again, nothing to brag about. I had the soup of the day. Piping hot and very flavorful.

The food was delicious with decent portions. However, the service was less than stellar as we sat outside but no one came to take our order so we had to go to the register ourselves.

The place was quite small but nice nonetheless, the staff very friendly and helpful even though there was a lot going on. The food arrived quite quickly and other than the cake, nothing tasted that good. The mac n cheese was just some noodles with butter really. The sandwiches were very plain too. Bottom line: coffee and cake is great, everything else not worth it.

The atmosphere was really nice, however the food was pretty basic, small portions for the price as well. It was just ok. I would definitely come for brunch rather than lunch here though.

Excellent food, disappointing service. We had been notified that the sausage roll would take 20min, but a 35 min wait without apology was disappointing and really spoilt our schedule. They also ran out of clean teaspoons and never brought any out for the duration we were at the cafe (an hour). Overall seemed disorganised and understaffed.

Whether you're looking to celebrate special moments or simply unwind with friends, Bistro du Vin provides an inviting space to do just that. During my recent stay at the hotel, I stumbled upon this gem and was pleasantly surprised by the culinary offerings.
The unplanned dinner at the hotel restaurant chain on the seaside turns out to be better than expected. The sourdough baguette is quite dense as a usual airy baguette but still tastes soft, moist, and slightly bouncing as a nice baguette-shaped sourdough. Tiger prawn is a tasty starter that is flavorful enough in the chili garlic sauce even without the aioli. The confit duck leg salad is great. The duck well seasoned and tender, with a slightly crispy skin. The edamame and bacon is lovely. Fillet appears a little dry but still tastes tender. House salad and chips are pretty good too. The main is a little slow, but the staff are helpful.

It was last minute booking for our anniversary dinner. I choose this restaurant after a few friends recommendations. Having worked on St Andrews for quite a few years I somehow never visited the venue, although I did hear about the revamp. So we decided to try it out. We decided not to have any expectations, as it can always go both ways. Having been sited upstairs we soon realised that place is quite busy on Wednesday night, no wonder in St Andrews in the summertime, but you don't feel like you sit on top of other tables. Very cosy. Our waitress Charlie was beyond professional and it was nice to see a person enjoying her job and making it a great evening for the customers. Believe me, I know how difficult it can be int he summer. However, the star of the evening was, of course, the food. We did have a few recommendations prior to coming and decided to follow them. Venison carpaccio and scallops to start and lamb and duck for the main course. Portions not huge, but perfect to feel full without overeating. Topped up with a bottle of lovely Pinot Noir. And of course, we could not miss out cranachan and coffee. Dessert served in the glass is bigger that you see, the perfect combination of taste and flavour as well as freshness and crunch. The best part: not too sweet. Topped up with good, not bitter coffee. Having been working in few places and having barista training, I sometimes come off as coffee snob and I enjoyed a coffee here so much ordered the second one. And of course, a very nice touch from the team to get 2 glasses of fizz after out desserts to congratulate us with our anniversary. A small gesture that takes an evening to top marks. Will definitely be back soon. P.S Will not going to post any photos as they already do a good job of taking great photos of their food. And mine is just not going to be as good .

Cameron was terrific! One Under was very busy on a Tuesday afternoon, and Cameron was working solo. He was busing tables while still taking food and beverage orders for nearly two hours. He never missed a beat. He was positive and friendly, even though there was enough work to be done for 4 people. Very nice young man…and One Under is lucky to have him in their employ.

This is possibly the best bar in St Andrews, incredible vibes, decent prices and a high standard of service. Unlike some places, the One Under actually has character - a cozy yet refined vibe, and is filled with great people. The live sports are also a huge plus, and the only drawback is that it shuts at 1! 5/5, definitely a MUST for St Andrews.

Great atmosphere with a big but. Food was not even close to par. First, out of chicken wings, no charcuterie meat when we placed our order. We ordered nachos and the ploughmans which were more than disappointing 😞. Our ploughmans was to include a sausage roll but upon asking we were told they were out and added extra cheese. Now to the cheese. Menu stated an assortment of Scottish cheese but only one variety was given. A very dry cheese. Nachos only had cheese on the top chips and nowhere else. Received the smallest amount of salsa I have ever seen. My recommendation would be don't go here for anything to eat. Staff apologized but did nothing else to rectify the issue, we paid full price. Will not be back, from 2 very disappointed Canadians.
Kevin R — Google review
We wanted a quick simple meal and with a few thousand students arriving with their parents to start University this was the only place which was empty. With good reason. Service was poor, charcuterie board was a nice display of many dead animals ... enough for 4 people, gerkins and onions a nice touch, but the star of the show was the fresh warm bread 😋. Burgers had loads of wet slop on the inside and oil dripped on the top of the bun WHY ??? The burgers were solid grey cheap and nasty with no flavour. A complete rip-off. We won't be returning and now know why the place was empty at 15:00 on a saturday. Two massive televisions on each side with golf and footballl and platic panels on roof and walls suggesting an ancient cellar with hand cut stone .... nah cheap plastic. If you like the finer things in life or simple well cooked fiod which has been lovingly prepared go somewhere else.

Went in for a few drinks and left after one, it took that long to get served, when it wasn't that busy. We were there for The Dunhill Links and after the days play we called in. The service was terrible. The bar staff had no idea which tables meals were going to and were continually wandering around asking tables if it was their meal and the staff serving drinks were too preoccupied by the meal service to see the people stood at the bar for ten minutes, waiting for a drink. We went to this cafe on the two days we were in Saint Andrew’s and we loved it! The service was so friendly and I appreciated the honesty of recommendations by the person who was taking the orders. It made my day learning about this wonderful community minded cafe for everyone. Sarah from NZ

Lovely lil lunch spot, food was delicious and lovely and fresh, service was friendly and helpful, and love that it's a social enterprise we need more places like this across our high street

Though this rustic, charming cafe was busy, I greatly enjoyed coming here for the tea and soup. I came here for my birthday, and though the staff were harried with all the customers, they provided kindly service. The soup of the day, butternut squash, proved a creamy autumnal delight, and I equally enjoy my steaming, sweet Earl Grey tea. Payment is easy here, and you can take as much time as you need with your food without feeling rushed. I recommend sitting outside and sipping your warm beverage and watching the excited crowds of people pass along the old stone streets.

Very excited by this! Far more than we should be but loose leaf tea and filter coffee in a social enterprise café. Ticking all the boxes. Brilliant service too.

We were up in St Andrews for a day out and just looking for somewhere to have a coffee, everywhere was full. We stumbled across We Are Zest, glad we did as I would rather pay my money to a good cause rather than some big conglomerate that really doesn't care. We had lovely cappuccinos, a fresh scone, butter and jam and a rather gorgeous toffee crispy cake. I couldn't believe how quiet it was inside. It was lovely and cool, with comfy seats and a great atmosphere. If I lived nearby I would be in every day for a coffees. Would highly recommend a visit if you are ever in St Andrews.

The owner, Lisa, is a sweetheart! The employees are friendly and attentive. The food was delicious! I love the veggie sausage roll. It's not really sausage but way better and I'd eat them every day if I could! Thanks for one of the best breakfasts in Scotland!

First impressions are good, the menu has some interesting options and that's what tempted us in. Ultimately the food was very good. However, we ordered drinks and food and the drinks arrived fairly swiftly, but as time went on and we still hadn't had our food, we grew concerned. All around the café are notices asking customers to be patient, as staff might have difficulties or be on work experience, so we probably left it far longer than we would normally. After 30 minutes, we asked about our food and were initially told it wouldn't be much longer. A few mins later they asked what we had ordered. Then they came back and admitted they had misplaced our "ticket". Once they'd realised their mistake, the food wasn't too long and it was good. As our drinks were now cold, they gave us a free drink as recompense, which was kind. Once everything finally arrived it was tasty. The only other comment I would make is that the falafels were really cold and they would have been nicer warmed and perhaps add a tsp or two of hummus to the salad, as it was a bit lacking in something.

Amazing spot. Loose leaf tea and filter coffee is a massive box ticked for me. Food is varied and not expensive. Plus as a social enterprise cafe which is great!

Stopped in on a Sunday morning for breakfast. Great fun watching the golfers tee off on the courses outside! I had the full English, very filling, good variety and well cooked. Service was very prompt and the food came out quickly. Update Dec 2024. This time I had the Tom Morris omelette. Lots of cheese but very tasty!

4.5 stars. amazing location, the history of golf just oozes from every space. we played the putting course-The Himalayas-and then enjoyed a good meal with exemplary service in the bar and grill. DW ordered a BLT on ciabatta. she enjoyed immensely. my choice was a fried haddock wrap with house made onion rings. while i felt like the fish fillet was quite small, it was tasty with good fresh veggies. The aioli that came with the tasty onion rings was a highlight. the extra half a star is purely for the service and the exceptional location.

This is a restaurant and the place where you pick up your rental clubs if you’re playing the courses. It’s nice. It is also right beside the course parking lot.

Such a beautiful place me and my family play the putting green and was an amazing experience will definitely be returning next summer.
Sam T — Google review
Poor menu selection and the food quality did not match the prices. I understand it’s a famous golf course and it’s going to cost more money, but the quality should also match. Service was friendly, fast, and professional. Atmosphere was great, old photos and memorabilia of Tom Morris. Bathroom paper towels were the nicest I’ve ever encountered in a public washroom.

Ideal for a bite after your round. Reasonable menu with a variety of options, along the burger, fish & chips type of food. The service is friendly and reasonably efficient. Price wise it's OK. Great location, by the 1st tee and 18th green of the New Course, overlooking the Old Course. Always seems to be busy but it's never too long to wait.

The Whey Pat Tavern, located on Bridge Street in St. Andrews, is a popular local pub that attracts a diverse crowd. Despite being considered an 'old man's pub,' it is also frequented by students who appreciate its unpretentious atmosphere and well-maintained selection of beers. The tavern's rich history adds to its charm, creating a cozy setting for patrons to enjoy good food and drinks.
Amazing wee venue just out of the centre of town Not one to be missed, the staff are all really friendly and welcoming. And Great beers at fantastic prices especially for St Andrews. As well as having something for everyone from the dartboard set up to live sports on the tv’s

Rusacks St Andrews is a luxurious hotel housed in a Victorian mansion with a rich history dating back to 1887. The hotel has undergone stylish remodeling to offer upscale accommodations and take advantage of its prime location overlooking the iconic Old Course and the sea. The recent transformation and extension have added new rooms with views of the 18th fairway, blending warm woods, antique furnishings, and luxurious materials to create an ode to Scotland's Highlands and Linksland.
Fantastic stay in a twin room with balcony overlooking the 1st and 18th holes of the Old Course. Everything from the welcome greeting from concierge Gordon, service from staff and quality of decor and furniture is outstanding. The rooftop bar is amazing...... the views are just incredible. I hope I get the chance to stay again. Oh and breakfast was good too.

This place was absolutely top notch. The staff was amazing and scenery was beautiful. This is golf heaven, need I say more. The food was exceptional, and everything is within walking distance. Everything is at your fingertips and definitely bring supported golf shoes or walking shoes. An experience to remember.

Overall, the hotel is great. Fantastic location, amazing staff and food services. The best burger in town is probably at One Under Bar alongside the best fries in town, peri peri fries! As for the room, it felt like it had a lot of history but felt outdated which I believe was the overall plan. I guess I’m used to modern rooms but it was still a nice pleasant room. The temperature in my room was a bit cooler than I would like and I couldn’t seem to get my room warm enough after messing with the thermostat every day and that was very annoying. The water in the showers would go cold every now and then when taking a hot shower but then return to heated water after about 5 seconds. That was another little surprise you would get. Had a good time at this hotel. Would definitely stay again.
Michael J — Google review
Exceptional. Wish we stayed longer! Service from start to finish was welcoming, helpful and thoughtful! Every staff member we encountered was kind and went out of their way to be helpful. Bed was SO comfortable. Our room was lovely overlooking the old course. The bathroom was nice, but I wish we had a bathtub as well! Oh, and the website with things to do in the area was super helpful!
Nicholette B — Google review
Fantastic stay at Rusacks. The staff was super friendly and attentive, rooms were well appointed (recommend one with a balcony over the Old Course - quite special), and the limited food we ate there (breakfast) was well done. The only reason I gave the rooms 4 stars is because there was construction of some sort happening nearby our room somewhere in the hotel, which was quite loud throughout the days.
Tracy H — Google review
Always the best experience staying at the Rusacks - the only negative part is leaving. Fantastic staff that go above and beyond every detail of your stay - Alisha, Bruce, Jack, Laura, Gordon, Cameron - and of course Seamus (I know I am missing a few others..!). Can't wait to come back soon!
Jess M — Google review
We really enjoyed our short break at this hotel. Very welcoming with exceptional service throughout the hotel and their staff. Couldn’t get a better location virtually on the Old Course 18 hole! Parking was easy and short walk to all amenities - a great stay !

A fantastic experience. One of the best hotels I've stayed at. The highlight of the stay was the staff. They went above and beyond to make sure my wife and I had everything we needed. Big thanks to Donald in the restaurant for his fantastic service. My wife and I stayed for one night in a King room. The room itself was well furnished with nice fittings. Everything felt high quality. The shower room was immaculate and the shower itself had a normal shower head and a rainfall head, both with good flow and no temperature fluctuations. The hotel has some great options for food and drink. The One Under Bar is a no nonsense pub with solid furnishings and sports on the TVs. The Bridge is an Italian restaurant with great views of the 18th. Try and get a window seat behind the bar. Then there's 18 Rooftop Restaurant. We only went in for drinks but it appears to be a high end restaurant as well. The best bit about the bar is the views of the 18th and the beach. Surprisingly, the drinks were reasonably priced for a hotel. A bit dearer than the local pubs but nothing extortionate. It's close to the centre of St Andrews where we went to a few bars during the day. It's very close to the Swilcan Bridge which seems to be popular with the tourists. Overall, a fantastic stay. I'll be back.

The Hotel du Vin St Andrews is a top-notch property with beautiful views of the Scottish coastline, luxurious amenities and excellent food and drink options. It's perfect for luxury golfers and weekend getaways alike. Parking can be a bit of a headache, but overall this is an excellent choice for anyone looking to stay in St Andrews.
This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel. The last time was nearly ten years ago, and I enjoyed my stay back then, which is why I decided to return. I have thoroughly enjoyed my two-night stay this time as well. The hotel’s reception staff was kind and very helpful, assisting me in upgrading to one of the executive rooms. The Old Tom Morris room is absolutely worth the cost, as it is the most spacious on-site, with a great sea view, very quiet (which is vital for a good night's sleep), and a super-large bathroom with a roll-top bath. I love the room's decoration and color scheme, which gives me a warm, relaxing feel. The location of the hotel is as convenient as ever, which is one of the reasons I chose to stay here in the first place. It's within a 10-minute walk to the heart of the town, and there are sufficient parking spaces in front of the hotel as well. I have fond memories of the hotel’s breakfast, and the quality has not dropped over the years. There are many hot dishes to choose from, and the fruits and yogurt are still my favorites. I would also like to give a special mention to the efficient service of the housekeeping staff. After I requested additional bath cubes and shower gel at reception, they were delivered to my room before I even returned upstairs! Overall, I highly recommend Hotel Du Vin St Andrews, and it will always be my first choice of accommodation when I visit St Andrews.

We visited the hotel bar for drinks following my partners graduation. The vibe in the bar and our drinks were absolutely lovely. A massive thank you and shout out to our bartender, Rosie, who was VERY friendly, helpful and recommended cocktails for us. We had a great evening and Rosie made our special day and experience at Hotel du Vin even better ☺️
Ryan C — Google review
I recently spent two nights at Hotel Du Vin with my wife. I liked the room very much and the location could not be better, as it was easy to walk to everything in town. Parking was only a challenge once during our stay, likely due to an event connected to a golf tournament. My only negative comment is about the food and beverage service, which was slow and not up to the standard one would expect. One evening we ate at the bar, nobody else there, and the experience was miserable. The service was mechanical and lacking any personality, perhaps because the young woman working the bar was new and inexperienced. She could care less. Aside from that, the overall experience was positive and I look forward to coming back again soon.

We had a wonderful one night stay at the Hotel du Vin in St. Andrews. We upgraded our room to the junior suite with a sea view and it was such a beautiful, immaculately clean room with a gorgeous view. The hotel is located in a perfect location just down the street from the Old Course. The breakfast in the morning had great options and was delicious. We would love to come back sometime!

Went for lunch as we'd been given a voucher. Food very good and staff friendly. Unfortunately service very slow (had to wait 20 mins for drink after ordering) despite there being only 2 other tables taken. It took 30 mins to pay the bill which was wrong to start with as we had been charged full price for meals rather than 2 courses for fixed price. There were also 2 lots of service charge on the original bill. Then they couldn't find out how to credit the voucher. Seems also that their own computer system was not user friendly to their own staff. We live close to St Andrews and have numerous eating places to choose from. Needless to say that despite the good food we won't be returning.

Gorgeous hotel, lovely views, yummy food. Fuss was made over myself and my sister's birthday without us notifying them. Will be returning. Great location, close to everything

Being a local and having left the restaurant we thought we would stop by the Hotel du Vin for a nightcap, last glass of wine. Got in there and the bar was totally empty and we were told that if we were not resident you could not get a drink after 10pm. It was 9:58pm. Crazy rule and clearly not a place for locals to visit. Wow we were so lucky she refused to serve us as we walked along and found it was the opening night of T squared, the old cinema. Great service, great welcome, and we will never darken the doors of hotel du vin again, even though we used to enjoy it there! You need to compete is my message to the management.

This hotel was absolutely perfect to celebrate our 25th anniversary. It is located at the very Old Course with direct views on the fairways from the restaurant and bar. The staff are genuinely friendly. The decoration and the rooms are old-fashioned in a lovable, traditional way. Breakfast is good and plenty. There is a golf concierge who helps with any golf-related request. We had a marvellous stay and thank the hotel management and personnel for their outstanding attention and care on our special occasion. We recommend this place to all golf lovers coming to St. Andrews.

The best part of the Old Course was the very kind service. However, the service at dinner was extremely slow! It would consistently take 35-40 to get a cocktail or glass a wine. It was the strangest thing to watch. The servers seemed to be completely overwhelmed. One server was serving way too many people. The management is not doing their job. The rooms are comfortable as far as bedding, but they are very warm! We went in a group of 10 and all of our rooms were uncomfortable. Room service was prompt and delicious. Again, what makes the hotel special is the people working there. They all try very hard and seem to want to make your stay a special one.

My friend and I drove through from Perth and it was well worth the journey!! Went up to order the buffalo chicken one to unfortunately be told they’d ran out, but no fear, I ordered us both the OG mac n cheese one. All I can say is WOW, it was so nice — for £6.75 the portion is generous. I’ll definitely come back!! Nice service too. Thank you :)

The perfect Scotland beach experience. Everybody told us when you come to St. Andrews. You must eat a toasty near the beach. We did and we don’t regret it. They are delicious and they taste about the way that they look cheesy crunchy and tons of flavor. Figure out the front counter tremendous customer service. All students from the local university. Will definitely recommend this place and come back the next time we’re here. It is very popular so there will be a line. Just be patient because it the weight is worth it. The milkshakes are delicious so are the pastries. The view is tremendous and completely worth the chilly day to eat a toasty near the beach.

Really good at what they do… toasties, milk shakes and fun. They’ve nailed this little corner of St. Andrew’s and always have a quiet outside that moves quickly as these guys have the process down pat.

The toastie was incredible! I was visiting St. Andrews and was told that this little shack was one of the highest rated and reviewed places in the city so I had to check it out! I ordered the famous Mac and Cheese Toastie and the Red Leicester. Out of those both, the Red Leicester takes the cake! It’s the perfect blend of salty and sweet with the sweet chili jam!! Highly recommend! Also in speaking about perfection, the bread is toasted perfectly! Nice solid crunch but still soft! Staff are also wonderful 🤗 don’t miss an opportunity to check this little gem out!

10/10 experience. Lovely staff, quick service and the toasties are so yummy. To top it off, the view is just stunning 😍 if you are too scared to swat a seagul, I recommend paying the extra £1 to replace your food WHEN the seagulls take it.
Fairy O — Google review
I'd love to add photos, but we got our food, found a spot to sit and scoffed our toasties shamelessly! 🙄 Easy ish to park, very much one out one in type busy! 2 queues, one to order, one to wait for food... We didn't wait long, it's all very quick and efficient, even though it was very busy... We ordered the macaroni toastie and a ham/cheese/pickle, with cans of juice. Huge toasties, thick gorgeous break, stuffed full with delicious hot yumminess 🥰 There is an optional "seagull insurance" which is a genius idea! £1 extra to cover you for a free replacement should the demon seagulls steal your lunch (proceeds go to charity (this month is breast cancer)). Seagulls were around and clearly quite cunning but we're easily shooed away!! (They'd need to be faster and smarter to steal my lunch 🤣) We sat on the wall at the beach and people watched but there's loads of benches, a play park etc... Amazing lunch, thank you! We thoroughly enjoyed our stop during our day out!

What a place. Got the cheese, chorizo and sweet chilli jam toasties for my wife and I, macaroni for my daughter. We all loved them, good value at £7.50. Got ice cream from there later, best I have tasted in a long time and only £3 each which is cheaper than the local ice cream van 🤨. Place is always busy so expect a wait, order a coffee and enjoy the views while they make your toasties 👍🏻

Tasty freshly cooked food. Fish tacos were delish. Pitchers of margarita were an absolute bargain, we had an apple one which was very more-ish! Felt a little under pressure to eat and leave though as the waitress was constantly around the tables. Would have been nice to relax a little and be left to enjoy our meal.

Nice food (if you like it hot) but massively overpriced. Our request for a milder version of one of the dishes was not fulfilled and the guest had to pick the jalapenos aside and add lots of sour cream to make it palatable. Busy at the time, we were given a table next to a noisy machine which was blowing hot air on a guest.

Dropped in for lunch, the torta special they offer a few days a week. It was exactly what it should be - a good deal that tasted great and made me want to return to try a full meal. I dropped one star because my particular server was a bit lackadaisical. Pleasant fellow but wasn't paying attention. But the guy I assume was in charge was on top of things, so no reason to believe there was a more general service problem.

Initially, they forgot one hot chocolate, and I had to remind them 2-3 times before it was finally brought to our table. The food quality was equally disappointing. The beef did not taste fresh and had an off-putting smell. When we asked the staff to check it, they refused to test it, stating that since we had already eaten some, they could not do anything about it. At the end of our meal, we requested to have the service charge removed due to our dissatisfaction. Ruby, one of the staff members, said it was not possible without even inquiring about our concerns. However, another staff member later agreed to remove it. Ruby left without offering an apology or explanation. Additionally, I noticed an error in our bill calculation after I returned home. Overall, the service and food quality were far from satisfactory, and the handling of our concerns was disappointing

lovely views of the St. Andrew’s golf course and beautiful interior and exterior of the restaurant! Waitress was very nice! Unfortunately, the food looked better than it tasted. It was remarkably okay. Not memorable, disappointingly. (We had the wagyu burger, Caesar salad, mixed side salad, skin on fries, club sandwich, fish & chips)

We called in for a cuppa and scones and wernt disappointed. The scones were warm, the raspberry jam was sensational and the coffee faultless . Well worth it

We just showed up at around 1pm (on a Thursday during half term in april) and there was seating for all of us (quite a large party) without a 30 minute wait which is great! The food is good, but the fish is fishy and the meat and meaty, there is no chance of you misconstrueing them for anything than what is on the tin, but i really enjoyed the burger and my mum loved her fish cakes!!

Tucked away in a cozy corner, this gem of a restaurant delivers a memorable culinary experience. The Cullen skink was a standout — rich with earthy undertones and a subtle smokiness that added depth without overpowering. Every spoonful felt perfectly balanced, comforting yet refined. The fish and chips offered a delightful contrast: light, crisp batter enveloping tender fish, full of flavor without feeling heavy. It’s a classic done right, and one you’ll want to return to. To top it off, the sticky toffee pudding was indulgent in the best way — warm, moist, and just the right amount of sweet. Absolutely worth every calorie. A meal here feels both hearty and elevated — a place where traditional favorites are honored with care and creativity.

Far reaching views out over the Old Course at St Andrews and the long stretch of beach. Our group very much enjoyed the food. Smoked salmon on sourdough toast with salad, chips, soup, fries, and mac and cheese were of a high standard and enjoyed. We were not sure what Blaggis was, and an internet search enlightened us that it's haggis and black pudding fritters. Was advised these were great. The service was excellent. The best I've seen in quite some time.

St Andrews Brewing Co. is a popular local craft beer brewery with two locations, one of which unfortunately closed in 2019. The original location on South Street offers the unrivaled St Andrews oatmeal stout and has plenty of open space, attracting students from the University of St Andrews. The brewery quickly made its mark on the town's pub scene, offering an extensive selection of local craft brews like Yippie IPA and Crail Ale.
Went on a St Andrews Brewery tour today whilst on a weekend break. Would highly recommend. Graeme was very friendly and knowledgeable and it was great fun learning about the brewing process. Really enjoyed all of the beers we tasted despite not being a huge beer drinker. Visited the pub in St Andrews for a few beers and will definitely be back and will recommend to friends x

Great efforts have been made to present an attractive and informal ambience in this marquee outside the brewing company headquarters. It is open ended and therefore "outdoors", but there are high mounted down heated to assist with comfort. They can supply Pizza's and naturally, their beer is very good. We had a great lunch and staff were friendly and communicative.

Had a great tour from Graham who was engaging and knowledgeable. He gave us tasters of the different stages of brewing too - a really good experience! Would recommend for anyone even if you're not wildly into beer as it's interesting to know how it's produced

Cromars Fish & Chips, located in St. Andrews and established in 2013, is a renowned spot for traditional fish and chips. The eatery prides itself on serving high-quality, fresh produce delivered daily by trusted suppliers. In addition to the classic menu items like deep-fried Mars bars, Cromars has introduced a dog-friendly menu with offerings such as beef sausages and puppuccinos.
Amazing experience! The service was outstanding; the staff at the front were lovely, great vibes and made us aware of the beer deal. The decor is trendy and the restaurant was all clean. The food itself is lush. Fresh, didn't taste oily, the tartar was delicious and a nice beer choice. It's a wee bit expensive but totally worth it and I'd go again without a second thought.

One of the best fish and chips, they use rapeseed oil for cooking fish. All the orders are cooked fresh. Good service and also good location. Only issue was fish kept straight from the pan, so the oil was drained in to chips. Really enjoyed the experience, a must try if you visit St. Andrews. Enjoyed their tartare sauce, ketchup was good. All the ingredients were premium including the chips, there is no blackeye .

The service was perfect. I enjoyed the fish and chips outside in the sunshine, watching the street. Just a walk from the 1410 century ruined St Andrews cathedral. A walk from the cathedral is 600 hundred St Andrew School of Economics and Finance in Fife Council. If you are in Dundee City, you are advised to visit St Andrews through the Tay Bridge and St Michael. Golf is one of the dominant sports here.

Had the scampi and chips served with wedge of lemon. The scampi was perfectly cooked. It was busy when I arrived so I couldn't get a seat but whilst I was waiting on a takeaway, the server noticed a seat and came and got me, such thoughtful customer service. I found the portion size perfect. Some places load the plate with unnecessary chips. I left happy and satisfied and will definitely be back.

This was my first time trying a deep-fried Mars bar! It was a bit too sweet for my taste, but I’m glad I gave it a try. The staff were helpful, and there was hardly any wait time.

Another trip to St Andrews, needing some food fuel at the end of a productive day, and Cromars delivers again! A delicious crispy battered haddock and a generous poke chips. Not forgetting the tartar sauce! I’d not visited since the redesign of the interior seating and takeout space, which is very cool. I also got to meet their Fish & Chips Scotty Dog. Thank you, Cromars!

Really good fish and chips. The haddock was fresh and crispy, the chips was good. Calamari was crispy though some part was not fully coated. Overall food was great though a bit too oily for me but that wasn't a problem. Service was really good, the girl at the till was super friendly and brought our orders to our table. Super recommended 👌

Zizzi is a nationwide Italian chain restaurant that offers pizza and calzone on wooden boards as well as traditional pastas. The restaurant is relatively low-key, but its been quick off the mark to introduce some hot new dishes such as the Sicilian Pizza with pepperoni, ham, and mozzarella.
We booked a table for 10 people and Zizzi did not disappoint. We were told our Tesco vouchers could only be used for a table of 6 but because we had 4 kids they allowed. The food was incredible, everyone loved their food, I had wagyu meatballs and they were so good. The cheesecake was incredible and I thoroughly enjoyed my wine. The servers were so attentive, I thought they were brilliant with the children and adults. Would highly recommend this place.

We were able to sit outside in the sunshine which was a lovely treat. We took my mum for a meal, she is ill and has recently started to use a wheellchair. All the staff were just lovely, kind and helpful. It was a special meal for us and everybody just made it great and an easier experience in a professional way. We had some Tesco vouchers and some restaurants where I have used these in the past made me feel awkward and cheap- not here everybody was friendly and cheerful about it. The food was delicious today, lovely and hot. Thanks for a great meal

The restaurant is part of a chain so doesn’t feel really personal and original. Food is nice - although some strange choices on the menu - but is only Italianish not Italian. Staff very mixed: some hard working and professional, others not so. Reasonably priced. Attracts larger groups so make sure your table is not too close to any of these.

Typical Zizzi food, terrible service, though, young waiter assigned to our table could not care less, or have worse attitude, unlikely to be a training issue, some people are just not geared for this type of job. Sitting outside in a lovely sun greatly improved overall experience.

Haar Restaurant & Rooms is a luxurious 5-star establishment located in the heart of St Andrews, just a short walk from West Sands Beach. The on-site restaurant offers exquisite Scottish and local cuisine, with a focus on using local and seasonal produce, seafood, and meat. The restaurant caters to various dietary preferences including vegetarian, vegan, and dairy-free options. Guests can also indulge in fully cooked traditional or vegetarian breakfasts during their stay.
Fantastic, majoring in seafood of delicacy and Scottish provenance. We had a la carte with the tasting menu starter snacks. All were prepared beautifully and tasted delicious. Good, short wine list. Staff were great and friendly. Breakfast worth staying over for. Deducted one star for the steep staircase to the top of the building for our overnight room which was otherwise comfortable and well equipped.

My wife and I recently stayed at Haar 5 Star Rooms and overall had a very positive experience. Michael at the front desk was helpful and welcoming at check in, setting a good tone for our stay. The real highlight, however, was Sara, who is without question the star of the property. She was an absolute delight at breakfast, warm, attentive, and with such a pleasant personality that she truly elevated the overall experience. Compliments as well to the chef, who prepared an excellent breakfast though I unfortunately did not get his name. My only slight complaint was with Room 2, where the floor tilts a little downward on the side where the pillow rests. It is a quirk of the old construction, not a major issue, but enough to be an annoyance while in bed. All in all, Haars 5 Star Rooms delivers on comfort, hospitality, and service, with Sara and the breakfast team leaving the most lasting impression.

We really enjoyed our tasting menu dinner at Haar, seeing the head chef prepare our first couple of courses in front of us was a unique experience - my favourite part of a great night. The staff were brilliant, Michal was very friendly and attentive and Maddie was warm and welcoming. The cocktails were great also.

I’m sorry but the experience fell short of our expectations having to wait 25mins while other diners were given a demo of first course. Dining room very cold. Myself and another diner had to go for a wrap to get warm. 4 wines and 5 courses one being bread only overpriced. No lift had to kneel on floor to work door button lock at room. Winding stairs to carry luggage not good when you’re in your seventies. The overall atmosphere was lacking I’m afraid. The emphasis seems to be all about the money before the guests. £25 for breakfast is ridiculous. Praise should go to Evie a charming lady very welcoming and to Maddie who looked after me online and the gentleman who does a lovely job of cleaning the rooms. He carried my heavy case down those stairs. You must note no lift in your advertising. We had a seven course tasting with wines in the Pompadour which also let you down when my husband was advised he could get draught beer down in the bar and bring it up himself. He is 78 did so and was charged £1 service joke. Sorry Dean I’m unsubscribing Linda Lindsay

For some reason my previous review was deleted. So I wrote it again. My wife and I stayed at the HAAR Restaurant and Rooms at their St Andrews property on August 15–16, 2025, having booked 3 nights through American Express. Upon checking in, we were led to a table in the restaurant to check in, as there is no front desk like in every other hotel we’ve been to. As we were going to our room, we found out that the hotel did not have an elevator, and there were 52 stairs up to our room. As we had nowhere else to go, we decided to stay there for 2 nights, and asked if we could check out a night early. An employee told my wife and me that she understood and that we can check out 1 night early. As someone who had major back surgery, it was impossible for me to continue the stay there safely or comfortably. At no point during the booking process — including American Express’s internal information — was it disclosed that the property has no elevators. Had we known, we never would have booked. When we explained our situation to two staff members, Sarah and Michael, Sarah was very understanding and nice and assured us that checking out early would be acceptable. However, despite that assurance, I have still not received the refund of £356.40 for the unused third night. Over the following weeks, I made multiple polite attempts to resolve the matter. I spoke with American Express representatives, who tried repeatedly to contact Michael and the hotel on my behalf — without success. Michael initially emailed me that he would “speak with the manager,” but never got back to me. Finally, American Express received a reply from Haar, and I was told that they will not refund! I also emailed Dean Banks, who I was told is the owner, and have yet to receive even the courtesy of a reply. Obviously, they care only about one thing; How much money they can make. As I was not advised that there was no elevator, and we were told that we could check out early by a representative of the hotel, I feel that a refund should be sent to me. I finally received an email from them advising me that there would be no refund, and also saying; “We will also reach out to the sites you have left reviews on and have these removed and take action on the reviews you have left”. Pretty incredible that they cannot back up their employee or representative of their company, and follow through with what was promised. Had I been told there would be no refund, I would have not booked another hotel for that night! What is the point of a review if the Hotel can get them taken off! Is the point of reviews for the traveller only to listen to good reviews or the truth. I feel customer satisfaction keeps people coming back! IN RESPONSE TO THE HOTEL; A representitive of the Hotel told us we can check out and we would get a refund. I did contact the 3rd party, which is American Express and they advised me that the hotel had to give the refund!

Michał was amazing as our server, and Maddie did a fab job at welcoming us and making us feel at ease. The food was well prepared and very nicely plated - it was interesting to learn about the preparation and origins of it.

This place treated us terribly. We went in and I was immediately greatest by a visibly upset employee who stated he couldn't seat us but told us we could wait for the host. Once the host arrived she said that it would take 2 minutes to fix the table (please note the restaurant was empty). We waited patiently for 5-10 minutes when a European couple arrived (please keep in mind we are latino) they were instantly graded with a smile and quickly seated in the main dining area that was still empty. she approached me and told me that it was still going to be another four minutes for a table (again, the restaurant was still empty). at this point, I felt disrespected and sidelined simply because the color of my skin. I don’t know if it was a race thing, but I find it incredibly unfortunate on my first trip to Scotland. with that being said, there’s a beautiful restaurant right around the corner that was happy to sit us and serve us. avoid this place at all cost. being humiliated is not worth a $12 lobster roll.

Located in the historic town of St. Andrews in Kentucky, Tulsi Indian Restaurant offers an amazing variety of Indian and Asian dishes with a British flare. The restaurant is both wheelchair-accessible and accepts credit cards, making it a great option for those looking for a quick and easy meal.
I dined at Tulsi twice and it was a great experience! The waiters were very friendly, the food was so fragrant and flavourful, and the naan was so fluffy and large that they eclipsed the plates. The lunch deals are especially affordable. I would highly recommend it!
W.Y. C — Google review
I appreciated the touch of elegance brought by the white tablecloths at Tulsi—it set a welcoming tone. The mixed starter plate, however, leaned heavily toward chicken, and could have used more variety to feel balanced. On a brighter note, both the garlic and coconut breads were freshly made and satisfying. The lentil soup stood out with a lovely kick of flavor that lingered pleasantly. We tried four different chicken curries, each offering its own distinct and authentic taste. However, the sauces were a bit too thick for my preference, slightly overwhelming the dishes. That said, the overall experience still felt genuinely rooted in traditional flavors. We will definitely do take-out with Tulsi to enjoy the bread and fried vegetables

If you're in Dundee and craving a slice of authentic Neapolitan pizza, look no further than Mozza. Nestled on Whitehall Street, this lively eatery is dedicated to serving up delicious wood-fired pizzas that cater to all palates. With a menu featuring classic options like Margherita and Pepperoni alongside inventive specials, there's something for everyone.
Pizza is unbelievably delicious. Huge size as well and there are plenty of options to choose from in terms of toppings. I also had the spicy Italian broccoli as a side, that was really tasty. Only thing is you have to eat it promptly as it goes cold quite quickly. I also had the Nutty Berry Kiss cocktail which was good for the price. A regular place and will always be back!

I was seating close to the kitchen and they were talkative and funny. The downsides were the waitresses. Really not friendly. Took ages to come get our order, same with the bill. When we were about to pay, she just charged my card with the full bill amount without even asking if we were splitting it up among the others or not. Pretty embarrassing for me to refuse it, so, more courtesy, blondie!

We dropped in on Friday evening - a lovely meal, with one pepperoni and two 'surprise specials' and we were delighted with all of the food. The surprises were definitely surprising in that they were both different, but it was all delightful and we shared a few slices around the table! The staff were excellent, very friendly and welcoming and apologetic about the alcohol not being available. All in all, great value and positive experience with excellent food, and the interior is handsome too - really liked the steel entrance screen which is trying to emulate that Crittall glazing, looks great... In terms of value for money, it was exceptional as three pizzas and three drinks was only £31, so very good indeed. Thanks again.

Busy place with a center bar. Very much like a cafe with food the focus rather than a bar. It was Saturday afternoon so maybe it turns into a pub during the week and later on. Expensive drinks £9.20 for a pint and a can of pop. Very costly if you're staying for a few. Found cheaper better places a few minutes away
Sez R — Google review
The Central is not wheelchair accessible and there are a few simple things that they could do to change this. For example, they could create a tiled ramp in their entrance like the Criterion or add a lowered section of the bar. Also, you cant even fit a wheelchair into this restroom, much less turn around in it. Previously Review - they have since updated their google page to say that they are not wheelchair accessible: The Central is not wheelchair accessible, despite their google page saying that they are. I have called on numerous occasions to speak with someone about this and no one picks up. Accurate accessibility information is the bare minimum if you aren’t going to ensure that disabled people can access your establishment.

Decent food, decent pints, decent prices. I can’t say much more, as there isn’t much more to it. The interior decor is very nice, and quaint but it’s not somewhere you’d spend all night or settle into. Potentially well suited to a large group of people who want to socialise amongst themselves, but to me and my friend who were looking to socialise amongst others the atmosphere just didn’t allow for it. We had a few drinks here, returned the next day for lunch, which was nice enough. Otherwise, nothing impressive.

The Guardbridge Inn is a family restaurant with great food and friendly staff. The pub is comfortable and clean, and the surroundings are nice too.
I headed for Guardbridge in the hope of an early evening meal and perhaps a stopover nearby in my camper The Guardbridge Arms was my destination, and I was quickly greeted and shown to a table in the bar area. Having kindly confirmed I was able to park overnight in their car park, I was able to have an alcoholic drink. There was a nice selection of bottled beers, including alcohol free lager, and a couple of beers on tap. I settled for a Scottish brewed lager. The menu had a nice variation of meals without the endless lists that generic restaurants seem to produce, and it was nice to hear the waiting staff offer child size versions of the adult meals. I'm no great fan of starters so I proceeded onto the main course, and considered the haddock and chips several times before opting for the braised beef, accompanied by red cabbage, carrots and sprouts and a jus The beef was beautiful, separating nicely when speared by my fork. The small pieces of red cabbage, the carrots and the sprouts were wonderfully cooked and complimented the bee perfectly. I'd been allowed to swap the mashed potatoes for chips and as a bonus I chose a portion of onion rings. They were cooked to perfection also. Having a dessert seemed the obvious end to a wonderful meal and I was guided towards the sundae by the waiter, he knows his stuff. Mint ice cream buried under cream and after eights. This restaurant is homely and a reminder that a family run restaurant can produce outstanding meals at fair prices. I'd hope to return in the near future to try the freshly caught haddock on the menu.

Exceptional dining experience! I never thought you could get such unforgettably amazing food in the quiet village of Guardbridge! The atmosphere was warm, elegant, and inviting. The service was perfect — attentive without being intrusive. Every dish was a masterpiece, beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The ingredients were clearly top-quality, and the chef’s attention to detail was evident in every bite. I was about to get up and run into the kitchen to tell the cooking team how incredibly delicious the food was! This restaurant truly deserves its five-star reputation. An unforgettable experience and we will be back regularly! 🍽️✨

Best meal I had in Scotland!!! Here on a golfing trip and we wanted something a little less touristy than all the spots in St Andrew’s proper. Our caddie told us to check this place out. It’s only 8 minutes drive from the Old Course. Quaint, local spot serving up local fare. I had the Caesar with smoked salmon, lamb shawarma and the lemon posset. All were stellar. The owner, Claire, was a delightful host.

The Guardbridge Inn is superb for an excellent meal, a tasty pint, plus now has recently added very well appointed bedrooms too. It is a local gem! Great beer garden overlooking the River Eden. The staff and owners are all fantastic too. Lovely people working hard.

Lovely place to stop for a drink and or a meal. They have rooms but we just had a drink and a snack. Plenty of seating both indoors, plus out in the front garden or out the back by the river. Service was quick from friendly and helpful staff.

A charming spot near my family’s place in Guardbridge! We booked a large table for a joint birthday dinner, and the food was outstanding. Our group ordered a variety of dishes, all served hot, full of flavor, and absolutely delicious. The staff were warm and welcoming, and the cozy atmosphere made it the perfect place to celebrate.

Dune is a remarkable cocktail bar with an equally surprising food menu. The oysters, especially the spicy cucumber variation, and the outstanding Wagyu with black garlic and Pomme Anna are highly recommended. The tamarind chicken wings are also a delight. The Boozy Brunch experience at Dune is truly impressive, offering an inviting and sophisticated ambiance for a leisurely weekend brunch.
I love a surprise. What lured us in was street ad promoting lobster roles. We got there before opening so we peeked inside the window and saw a cool little bar and planned to come back later in the day. This was not what we expected in the best way possible. The menu is unique, especially compared with all the other menus we have seen around town that have the same pies, burgers etc. The biggest problem was deciding on what to have. My wife and I sat at the bar for about 3 hours before other family joined. Kyle, was entertaining and a great bartender. Make sure you ask for some "off menu" cocktails that are in his head. He made this Bourbon tea concoction that is absolutely dangerous, and inspiring. Kyle won an award at a cocktail competition for this one. I had a few of those. I have also never had a clear ( almost clear ) Espresso Martini before. Another surprise: they make a gin caviar. Seriously, so good. Along with the spicy margarita, and 30 some oysters and a couple of lobster rolls. We had an amazing time. Andy in the kitchen and Grace on the floor were wonderful as well. We are in St Andrews for 5 days, and I guarantee we will be rolling through a few more time. If you are a limited time in town, go here.

We booked online via the restaurant’s website and received a courteous call beforehand to say no tables were available but that we could be seated in the bar area. We appreciated the notice and decided to keep the reservation, as the restaurant’s food was meant to be of good quality. I ordered fish and chips, while my husband chose the northern cod with pork cheek on risotto. The dishes were well presented but, unfortunately, the taste did not live up to expectations. The lukewarm risotto was watery and completely lacking in flavour, the pork cheek was dry and the cod was the nicest part of that dish. The portion was also very small for its £32 price tag. The fish and chips offered better value: my fish was hot and the flavour reasonable, although the chips were a little overdone. This dish was £23. The servers were pleasant throughout, but the loud music in the bar made conversation difficult. We ate and left as soon as possible. Overall, a very disappointing experience for a £76 spend (including drinks).

Only ate from the outside shack- ordered a Lobster Roll (see pic). Although this tasted nice, this was £12 per roll. Way too expensive and clearly a tourist trap which we fell into. Would not recommend unless you’re happy paying meal prices for a small snack.

Highly recommend Dune to anyone who visits St Andrews. The food was excellent. I ordered the 1/2 dozen oysters, the lobster and my waitress, Maddison, recommended I get the bread + miso butter with it, which was perfect.

Overall great experience. My mate’s girlfriend got the lobster crumpet which was fantastic. We got the lobster roll. Pretty solid roll 9/10. And the octopus hotdog was super cute. You won’t regret going.

The octopus hot dog had a great flavor but was over cooked; Maddie (our server) did not relay the daily specials which we would have selected from, if given the option. She also did not tell us there was time on the table until we were finishing dinner..we had to then rush to complete the meal (after we were waiting 15 minutes for the bill). Several members of our party work in the restaurant business and they said our service was abysmal. Overall, our meal was not worth what we paid. We won't return or recommend Dune.

We are from California, and for our last night’s dinner we found a seafood restaurant. The service was excellent, and the food was delicious. We truly enjoyed our meal at Dune Restaurant.

When you buy a lobster roll, there's a reasonable expectation that the bun will contain pieces of lobster as a filling, however the two lobster rolls I bought this evening for myself and my wife, didn't appear to have any lobster. In the lobster's place was minced fish. Any actual lobster was indiscernable, as the attached pics will hopefully show, and which bore no resemblance to the picture of a lobster roll from their website (attached for reference) . Had I not been 5 miles outside of St.Andrews when I opened the boxes, I would have returned them and requested a refund. I did call them just in case they had given me rolls with the wrong filling, but was told they mix the lobster with smoked fish. My response was, the lobster must have been missed out of the mix then. Do yourself a favour, and if you are tempted to but a lobster roll from here, either save your money and don't, or at the very least ask to see the roll before you part with your hard earned, as £13 for a minced fish roll is daylight robbery. UPDATE 15/07/25 - Credit where credit is due - Dune have issued me with a full refund today - which is genuinely appreciated. Many thanks Dune.
