I first visited this restaurant 18 years ago and it's still a good as it has always been. One of the best restaurants I have been to in a while. All the food was authentic and fresh. I felt like I was back at my Theia's house for a Greek family get together. The atmosphere is warm and cosy, and the staff are all friendly. We got the Greek Mezes menu, and we were absolutely stuffed by the end of it. Very much recommend coming here!

Lovely tasty and authentic Greek meal. Keftedes were delicious and loved by our particularly fussy son so that has to be a solid review in itself. Deli next door is fab too.

Food is fantastic, the restaurant is clean and comfortable and has a lovely atmosphere. Staff are excellent - friendly and accommodating. It's not cheap but for authentic Greek food that is cooked to perfection, it is worth every penny.

Theres not enough stars to rate this lovely place. Walking through the door you are transported back to Greece, the music playing, the authentic decor and the amazing food all make for a most ejoyable evening. Aris, the owner and his son greeted us and came round to chat during the night while serving us. Theres so much to choose from on the menu but I had been recomended the mix mezze platter which we had with a bottle of white wine, which I thought may be too much but as it was served at a relaxing slow pace this gave us plenty of time to savour every mouthful and get lost in the ambiance of the evening. I was hoping for some greek dancing but that will have to wait for another time!! After nearly 2 hours we reluctantly said adio to the staff and headed back to the hotel now in the mood to book our next Greek Getaway

The food is amazing and the people in there are first class. If you love great food get booked in for lunch or dinner. Even if you aren’t a Greek food fan , you would be hard pushed to find a better steak. 10/10 amazing

Loved this place. Great service. Menu amazing. Although no kids menu they made so much effort with my little girls and gave them small portions. Best cauliflower (burger) I've ever tasted. We live two hours away and I'd consider driving it just for that! 😄

We were a party of 6 adults and 2 kids, who had booked a few days in advance for a Saturday afternoon lunch and a couple of drinks. We were led to a downstairs table which was perfect for our party. Great buzz around the place from the customers at other tables, with a feeling of still being quite private. Ideal for conversation with the music not overly loud. Food order was taken swiftly and drinks were brought first. We had all came down from Edinburgh with only a few hours in town, so the service was fast which we appreciated. Food was excellent, portions were plentiful and tasty. Good value for money and a wide range of menu choices. Anything left on plates was because of the volume of food!! Adult portion was halved for kids; no problem for staff to accommodate this request. Cannot fault the staff on duty on Saturday 11/10 at 14:15....I was particularly impressed with each of the staff who attended to us. Would highly recommend and would definitely travel +1hour to do it again. Well worth a visit 👍🏼

Popped in here on the off chance I might find a GLUTEN FREE choice , and I was right!! The GLUTEN FREE MENU is very impressive, lots of choice!! I went for the Spring Chicken dish which was very well cooked , very well presented, and very tasty!! I just came to Carlisle for my tea as I'd travelled from Settle on the beautiful, scenic railway, and I have to say , I made a great choice!! The staff were very helpful and polite too , which makes a refreshing change!!

My family are from Essex and we are on holiday and wanted a really good sunday roast and due to the other very positive reviews we tried this place. And i can say with full confidence that that was the best roast i have had in a very long time. I couldn’t put my fork down and i’m honestly so happy that i found this place because ei have no bad things to say about it. Staff are very friendly and very welcoming when i had a person in a wheelchair with me, they offered us use of a ramp with the front entrance and moved chairs out the way for them. They also have a disabled toilet on the lower floor and regular toilets upstairs that were really nicely decorated. The atmosphere in the place is really nice and i thoroughly recommend this place to everyone. IF U WANT THE BEST ROAST EVER COME HERE ON A SUNDAY.

This place looks incredible with the exposed brickwork, copper piping lights and scene filled resin tables. Service was quick, plenty of ales on tap, food was tasty. I had the flat iron steak, cooked perfectly, my only critique would be a little over seasoned. Highly recommend.

Food was nice. Initial service from greeter made us feel like an inconvenience from the outset. Ok it was a walk in and we didn't reserve a table, simply tell us no room and we would find somewhere else. After pointed to "that table over there" by the maitre d a nice lady came over who was very polite and took ours drinks order. Then back to misery guts who asked if we were ready to order, one of us hadn't decided so he stood over us waiting for a choice and impatiently said he could start with anyone. How about get lost for 2 mins whilst we choose? Anyway the food was actually really nice. Nice lady checked on us to make sure all was ok and to ask if more drinks were needed. Good sized helpings. Sadly no room for dessert. Go back? Probably not after that welcome. Either face didn't fit or someone was having a bad day. Don't take it out on the customers fella.

Amazing Sunday Roast! Came for my Wifes Birthday with are little Boy and we were blown away with how tasty everything was. I had the starter of chicken goujons with a cheese and BBQ sauce, it was delicious. We both had the roast 10/10 ❤ finished off with cookie dough and the OB sticky toffee pudding. The staff were very professional and polite. Suggesting the burger for are one year old who couldn't get enough if it ! We are looking forward to coming back 😊

Fantastic experience at The Old Bank! We came as a group of foodies with kids and we were very well looked after. The service was quick (we had pre-ordered), the staff caring and helpful and the food was delicious! I had Sunday Roast Chicken and it was a bit dry but my starter (fish cake) and the side of cauliflower cheese was so delicious that it compensated for it. Those who had the roast beef absolutely loved it. Quirky place. Lovely vibes.

We went to The Old Bank for a Sunday Roast, and it was epic! The portions were huge, the meat cooked to perfection and came with all the trimmings. The staff and service were just incredible - all were super friendly, attentive, and really lovely. They allow dogs too, and made a proper fuss of our 2 Frenchies, so we all felt very well looked after. We also had the madras kiev and lasagne bites starters, which were amazing, and also very generous portions. Highly recommend this great restaurant to anyone in the area. We will definitely be back the next time we're in Carlisle!

What an absolute gem of a find! The Old Bank exceeded all expectations – the food was excellent, full of flavour and beautifully presented. The cocktails were fantastic, crafted with real care and creativity. The service was just as impressive – warm, friendly, and attentive without ever being overbearing. Matt and Harry have created something really special here, and it shows in every detail of the experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely be back again soon. A big well done to the team – highly recommended!

Blown away by The Old Bank! As soon as I read the menu outside I was already interested by the choices the chef had made, and I was not disappointed. I ordered the steak and beef cheek pie and my partner ordered the Chicken supreme, we both cleaned out plates. The decor is quirky and fun and the toilets were even very nice! If I lived anywhere near Carlisle, I'd be here all the time!

4th October 2025 were booked in arrived on time but a large group were in and Obviously did not want to leave when they were meant to . Staff poor at dealing with this and we along with several other couples had to wait 20 minutes before tables cleared and cleaned . During this time I asked for a drink but the waitress wasn’t very clued up and the gin and tonic I ordered she was going to put cola in it !! When it did Come it was drowned in tonic with no taste of gin . This was replaced by a manager .we were looking forward to a great meal as reviews were great what we got was not the best .we ordered a pie which sounded fabulous it came with mash carrots and a sauce all of these were good but the pie was small the pastry dry and the crust burnt and the filling almost non existent very disappointing. We did order a sweet my wife had sticky toffee pudding which she said was excellent and I had a run and raisin dish with banana. It has some sort of pastry as part of it which was not great I found the raisins and the banana but no a taste that would suggest any rum had been In it . Overall I appreciate the place was very busy and the group of approximately 30 persons who overstayed their time had caused problems and maybe we suffered as a result of this but this was a special meal for my wife’s birthday and it was not a great experience

Came in off the street ( very rainy!) and knew nothing about the place. Amazing food - my partner and I shared a first course - risotto - and a main course - steak pie. Absolutely delicious and more than enough for the two of us. Highly recommended!!

On route from Colchester to Scotland, we decided to stop in Carlisle for the evening and booked dinner at David's. I am so happy that we did, as it was one of the most wonderful places we've ever dined at. The food was absolutely delicious, from the flakey cod and perfectly cooked chicken, to the wonderfully seasoned vegetables. The haggis pakora and Irn Bru mayonnaise was a revelation and tasted amazing. We finished on a comforting and rich sticky toffee pudding. Not only did we have great food, Chris was a lovely host and made us feel so welcome. We are so sad we don't have this restaurant back in our home town and hope one day we can return to this fabulous place! ❤️ Thank you Chris!

On the way to Glasgow from Liverpool, my mom and I stopped into David’s Restaurant for a very late dinner while traveling through Carlisle. The food was wonderful, and Chris, the owner and host, was so incredibly kind and helpful! Highly recommend to anyone either visiting Carlisle or just passing through!

Welcomed & served by the owner who made some good recommendations. I had red wine & my guest had fresh ginger beer. Both were really nice. The owner brought over complimentary freshly made bread & home made herb butter that was delicious. This gave us a good idea what was to come. We both ordered the Chicken Schnitzel which was so delicious! It was the perfect portion size & came with the right amount of vegetables cooked well. Then came desert, what can I say? Yummy! Home made sticky toffee pudding. Service was excellent, always taken care of. Would I come again? Silly question! Every time.

We were given a gift voucher for 60th birthday present, so decided to opt for lunch. Food was very nice but we felt that both the pea & sorrel soup (starter) and lamb (main) was over seasoned with salt. Paid extra for fillet steak as it was my birthday treat. The steak was nicely cooked and good, but not exceptional. I thought it disappointing that the carrot & coriander puree was merged into gravy, so was barely even visible. No vegetables are given as an extra, it's literally just what is mentioned on the menu that is served. Anything extra is a side dish and is an extra charge. We enjoyed our lunch, but for us, it's a special occasion venue that we'd probably only visit occasionally. The food was all good, but not great value for money, it's more of a place to indulge yourself for a special treat. We needed to spend an extra £20 on top of the £60 voucher, to cover one glass of house wine each , starter and main (no dessert)....oh and the £7 extra for fillet steak.

anytime we’re in carlisle we will stop here, it’s just unbelievably good. HUGE vegan and GF menus, really great portions and so affordable. the food is delicious, staff are so so friendly and welcoming, service is top tier. we went for my fiancé’s birthday and they surprised him with a slice of (just so delicious) chocolate tart (this was also vegan friendly!!!!!!). unmatched. please come here if you get the chance/are in the area. i love it!!!!!!!!

First time visiting Casa Romana and we were so pleased with the friendliness of the staff. We had the early bird, between 5 and 5pm, two courses for £14! The food came out fresh and piping hot. Really enjoyed our visit here, would definitely come back!!

The Lunch time "happy hour" option is very reasonable. We went with 2 courses for £14.95. Food was tasty, restaurant well kept and clean, and staff were polite and attentive. A good offering all round.

I went here yesterday with my daughter. We didn't have a reservation booked but we got a table anyways. The service and food and price was great. If only you knew how fussy my daughter was, she got the Meatballs and she said they were the nicest she'd had! I got a mini pizza with salad, the salad was amazing and so was the pizza! We were so so happy and will definitely be returning. Thank you

Visited the restaurant on Saturday at 5 o' clock. Excellent service & food. No loud background music, so great for conversation.

I came here with my family on a Thursday lunchtime. The service was great and the food was delicious. The set menu is extremely good value. The leggera pizza with salad is a great healthier option.

Went after work with friends for tea. Unfortunately, there was no chicken available, so we had fish and chips, lasagne, and a halloumi kebab . Unfortunately, that didn't have much halloumi on it. We had a discount voucher so we paid 14 per person which was OK. If you're staying at the premiere inn next door, it's a good place to eat without having to drive anywhere.

Dinner was nice, staff were friendly and soundings were ok. Slightly worn/dirty in places. Breakfast was nice, hot with a great selection. We were first in which helped. I found one of the fireplaces funny, just because it was almost out of place. I guess missing the finishing touches. 🤣 I would recommend if in the area and in need of sustenance!

Waited almost an hour on food to get served a luke warm burnt offering. We were told the chef had gutted the kitchen un aware that they were on their own. Its not hygienic to clean a kitchen during a lunch service . The place was cold alot of food unavailable and the staff just looked like they had had enough. Felt sorry for them actually

Brought the family here for an unplanned meal out and had a wonderful time. The adults ordered the steak sample meal and the steaks were cooked beautifully. The kids meals were also high quality and good size portions. Our server, Mia was very kind, polite, helpful and very patient (we had 3 kids to entertain). She definitely made our visit easier and more enjoyable. Thank you Mia!

More things not available on the menu than are actually available. Sunday roast was tuff as old boots. Husbands mixed grill was cold. This was sent back. Plenty better places in and around Carlisle.

We visit today for Sunday lunch the zara the waitress was amazing looked after us. Cant say much for the chef who most of been not happy as all are food was burnt. We were told 45 min wait for food which we didnt mind I hope zara get the appreciation she deserve working there

A little out of the way, but quite with free onsite parking. The staff were helpful and welcoming. The menu was fair, and food served warm, I checked, and the plate was definitely warm ( personally, I don’t understand serving hot food on cold plates). Gluten-free menu available. The coffee was good. The toilets were unpleasant. The first cubicle I went in was vile. Fully accessible, families welcome, baby changing facilities, detailed information on allergies are available if required.

Hidden gem just outside of Carlisle city centre. Well worth the 10 minute walk. Food is delicious, fresh and so tasty. Service was outstanding guy serving was really pleasant and friendly a real asset to the business. Thank you for a great experience. 30/6/25

Great food and great service, we called before hand to see if we needed a booking and they said they take walk ins too. We went for food very early, quite soon after they opened so we were the only people dining in. The staff was very helpful and describing what would come with some dishes and gave suggestions for sides as we didn’t know the portions sizes. Overall great experience, did feel odd to be the only people in but more people were turning up as we were leaving.

Update review. I go once a year to see if its any better. Group of 5 this time. Ordered a thawa which is essentially just a balti served on a hot iron plate. It was bright red and caked in food colouring. Not very flavoursome. In fact most of the dishes on our table were caked in food colouring. Portion size is small too, and it's not the cheapest of places.

A great experience at the Viceroy. Staff were welcoming and attentive. I ordered the tandoori mixed grill and it was presented beautifully. All the meat was well marinated and flavourful. I will definitely be going back.

Found this lovely restaurant on our little weekend away and what exceptional place this is. Food is absolutely spot on don't know why some people have given a bad review as there is nothing wrong with the food or the staff at all. The atmosphere, service and food at Royal Outpost are all top notch! I was visiting Carlisle for a project and happened across this treasure. My prawn and pork belly starter (yes I ordered two don’t judge me) was delicious and decadent, and the beef so tender and wholesome with spice and flavour. If you are visiting Carlisle, make this your stop. If you’re not, it’s worth the trip!

We came to Carlisle from Glasgow for the first time, over the weekend! Obviously we haven't booked anything for the evening 🫣 walk in and we're amazed! Good for wee ones as well! P.S. Of course we had to had dessert 😀, unfortunately the wee one already started the Sticky toffee pudding before talking a picture! Outside area and 2 levels inside ready to welcome you! Beautiful Asian/Thai style food, bao buns are fantastic as is the Korean dolsot bibim bap on the lunch menu, absolute gem of a place, our new go-to restaurant that we wish we'd discovered years ago.

we’ve been here multiple times now and never once left disappointed! sad to see that it’s never really busy because the food is really good and it’s not too expensive. recommend the bao buns and the spring rolls :) the staff is always really accommodating to any requests.

Honestly, this place is unreal! The food was banging – full of flavour and cooked perfectly. Proper 10/10 meal, I couldn’t fault a thing. We ate some absolutely banging dishes – seafood was on point! The staff were sound too, really friendly and looked after us well. Vibes were great, food came out hot and fresh, and everything just hit the spot. Hands down one of the best places I’ve eaten in Carlisle – I’ll definitely be back!

Pop in at time as already booked a table. Been offered a nice table to enjoy our dinner while we ordered our drinks something happened during that time to change our mind so me and my partner ended up to leave the place. While we start having our drink, some Asians been treated in such way which made me feel uncomfortable. When asked them what happened, those customers told me what happened and how they been treated in a bit racial way. Even i didn’t finished my drink and request to my partner to leave. Hope not coming back again where people are treated according to their colours.

We had a lovely meal on Saturday evening. The chicken xacuti was amazing and the portions were just enough! Good value for money. Service was very fast, the staff were friendly, on top of things and the place was clean and modern. It was very quiet with not a lot of people in the restaurant which was a shame since the food was so nice. I would definitely visit again.

We are the very first customer last weekend and at around 430pm they opened their doors for us to sit and order right away although they usually opens at 5ish. I came with my baby and husband and we just ordered enough food for the 3 of us but it wasnt what we are expecting. It was overloaded and very delicious. You can observe the cleanliness of the restaurant from their floor to the seats and toilets too! All are clean... very fantastic! The waiters and waitress are all courteous and lovely too! We will definitely come back for more!

Out of this world said Garry, Darren said amazing...best chicken pakora ever, Indian Railway Lamb Curry was so so tasty...melt in the mouth. Chicken Korma and Tikka Masala not on menu, however this was prepared for the young guys and they loved it 👌 Great Service with a smile...

While visiting Carlisle with my brother over the Jubilee Weekend we found this amazing Indian restaurant. The interior is fresh and bright, the staff very pleasant and helpful, and the menu choices are amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed our very tasty meal and will go back again. Recommended.

No if but's or maybe's. This is the VERY BEST Indian Restaurant in Cumbria. Staff ALL friendly, helpful, efficient, smartly dressed. Building and facilities spotlessly clean. Wide varirty of dishes, some unique to Masala Bazarr. Food is absolutely amazing, full of flavour, spiced to perfection, you can watch your meal being freshly cooked. Portion sizes generous, nicely priced. Group of approx 20 attend for a meal every year.Never had any reason to complain in 10 years. For Indian food second to none.

Situated next to the Premier Inn it's a great place to enjoy a Sunday Carvery or an all you can eat breakfast You can reserve a seat or just turn up for either.Sunday Carvery is noon till 6pm and was excellent value,served by friendly staff. The staff keep the place clean and clear the tables,unlike Wetherspoons !.The bar has a good range of drinks and there's plenty of outside benches,though the interior is tastefully decorated. Its family friendly with a play area for children around the side. Highly recommend and carvery was as delicious and good value for money.

Friendly staff, good quality food at affordable prices. Yes, it is a chain but that doesn't need to be a bad indicator. I can say that this is of my favorite Britain food chain. Food is of basic good quality and that is better than many other locations. Before searching hours for a place to eat and drink I go to Brewers Fayre. Especially this one left a good impression.

Visited family today and called for dinner with someone who actually works for the company. Being in the hospitality trade ourselves it was a pleasure to receive such great service. Food came out piping hot , all plates came at the same time and the table staff were excellent. Will definitely return when visiting again.

We absolutely love going here as a family for the unlimited breakfast, what a bargain £10.99 for an adult and 2 kids under 16 eat free with any paying adult. The food is always lovely, the staff are polite and helpful, the service is top quality. Karen has always gone above and beyond for us, we look forward to seeing her whenever we visit, she is a credit to the team. We've also been for meals before and each time it has been really good, great value for money and very tasty.

This was my first visit. The attention to detail regarding food allergies was second to none. I opted for the carvery Roast Dinner. I was even offered that the chef would prepare me some vegetables, especially, as the ones already prepared contained dairy. The food was delicious. The meat, turkey, and beef were both cooked to perfection. There is nothing I can say in a negative vein at all. I will definitely come back again.

Spent 3 weeks here (for business) the food was very good when they had it. Unfortunately most of the time a large portion of the menu was unavailable. One signiture dish was unavailable for the whole 3 weeks I was there. However the staff were very helpful and friendly.

We dined here last night after a suggestion from a local cafè owner. We were lucky to get a table at short notice near the kitchen. It wasn't a problem watching the kitchen staff turn out great meals effortlessly. The food was perfect. The spaghetti cooked al dente with mussels and prawns in a light tomato base. Partner had a delicious pizza, topped off with a lemon torte. The wait staff were very pleasant and efficient. Highly recommend

What a delightful restaurant in which to have an Italian meal. The food was delicious. I had the King Prawn tagliatelle, the sauce was so good! For dessert we both had Afogato. This was the best Afogato I have had. A tasy decaff, generous portion of ice cream and it comes with a liqueur. The staff were welcoming and friendly and helpful, the wait time minimal. I liked that the atmosphere was peaceful in that there was no loud music playing making conversation pleasurable. All in all a great experience.

Amatos is a fabulous restaurant in Carlisle . We hadn't booked but the staff quickly found us a table . There's a good varied menu and Specials board . I ate the garlic mushrooms as a starter and can honestly say they were the best I've ever had . Both our main courses were delicious. Even though the restaurant was very busy the wait for our food was minimal. We'll definitely return on our next visit to Carlisle .

We got back late from a train trip and this was close to the station. The service was prompt and the food very good. We had caprese salad,salmon that came with 2 sides and spaghetti carbonara.

We dined here to celebrate our wedding anniversary during a recent break in Carlisle. We didn’t book a table in advance, but we were made very welcome and quickly seated. The food, wine and service were fantastic, we would highly recommend this restaurant and would not hesitate to return when back in the area.

We popped in on a rainy afternoon to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were only visiting Carlisle and took a punt on La Mezzaluna. We have been to many Italian restaurants both here in the UK and in Italy. This is up there with the best. True authentic hearty Italian cuisine at its best at a reasonable price too. We had a lovely afternoon. They also had a very nice sound track playing in the background and somehow managed to play some out our favourite songs without knowing it. Would return in a heartbeat.

Our stay at the Pentonbridge Inn was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. The inn itself is beautifully appointed—elegant yet cosy, with thoughtful touches that made us feel right at home. The highlight, of course, was the Michelin-starred dining experience. Every course was a masterpiece, perfectly balancing creativity and flavour with the finest local ingredients. The wine pairings were expertly chosen and elevated each dish even further. Breakfast the next morning continued to impress, with fresh, high-quality offerings that were absolutely delicious. That granola OMG. We left feeling completely looked after and already planning our next visit. Pentonbridge Inn is a true gem, combining luxury, comfort, and world-class cuisine. Highly recommended!

We came over to Gretna for a family wedding but decided to come up a day early. As we had an extra night we wanted to enjoy some time together and Pentonbridge Inn was only a short drive away! From entry to exit the staff were super attentive, ensuring we were enjoying the experience at every moment. The tasting menu was incredible! Having done a couple at other Michelin star restaurant, I can confirm some of these dishes were just above and beyond! The savoury custard and fresh peas, just not what you'd expect but absolutely delicious! Really pleasant experience and would highly recommend ✨

The Pentonbridge Inn is not short of excellent reviews. why, because it is excellent. From the moment you are greeted at reception to the moment you leave the premises it oozes class. The staff, the service and the rooms are exceptionally good, combine that with wonderful food and you cannot fail to be impressed. Our stay was probably the best hotel stopover I can recall in many years. Well done to all the team at Pentonbridge Inn.

Our dinner was close to perfection - all the staff were kind, professional and knowledgable (made us laugh too, at times) and the cooking was absolutely outstanding. After a few disappointing 'top-end' dining experiences lately, our visit restored our belief in the joy that cooking and food at this level can bring. Just brilliant.

Such a beautiful wee inn! From arrival to departure was excellent! The little snacks on your bedside table and the offer of fresh milk for the room were just the start. The staff had in-depth knowledge of the dishes and wine menu so that helped if you didn’t want to have the wine flight! Breakfast was great also with great views over the rolling hills. The taster menu is a beautiful and tantalising dining experience. Staff were attentive and informative about the produce and food preparation. A lovely atmosphere. Also, the speed at which the dishes came to the table was perfect. Not rushed, but neither too slow; just right. I didn't stay. Therefore, I can not comment in the rooms.

Ate here as a party of seven. It was over priced, and the meals were average pub food pretending to be fine dining. One of our party ordered the salmon, which was very dry and totally tasteless. The three meat roast dinners seemed to be the beat option from the menu, but in my opinion, not worth anywhere near the £26 each. As for the service, we'll that left huge room foe improvement. The staff seemed not to be interested at all and very miserable. We waited for an hour for our food to arrive in dribs and drabs. We left there all viewing the same opinion, that we wouldn't be revisiting and certainly not recommending the Penny Blue to friends & family. Bit if advice, go to Nandos around corner as its a lot better value for your hard earned money. Sorry Penny Blue, your place is just not up to scratch.

Went for lunch here with a friend. The food was nice, the only thing I would say is the menu (especially the starters) seemed a bit limited. I can imagine that in the evening the ambience is lovely, however there weren't many of us in and we were separated from the hustle and bustle (of what I presume) of the bar area, which seemed a shame when it was so quiet. The staff didn't seem very engaging. We got our bottle of wine dumped on the table without being opened. And then couldn't get into the bottle. Overall it was quite a nice experience.

The Penny Blue Restaurant came up on a trip advisor search. Glad it did or we wouldn't have known it was there. I had the parfait, steak and then cheesecake. All were great. Had a few bottles of wine to wash it down. The service was great. I really need to start noting names so I can thank personally.

We had such a fantastic experience here. The atmosphere was great and the décor was lovely. Service was prompt – our drinks arrived very quickly (my cocktail was amazing!). The filet steak was cooked to perfection, and I’ve genuinely been dreaming about the mashed potatoes ever since. There’s an excellent selection of cocktails, and the wine we had was delicious. The staff couldn’t do enough for us – even though it was busy, they were always nearby to take drinks orders. Highly recommend!

Went here with my family and all of us thoroughly enjoyed our food. The highlight for me was the scallops from the appetiser section of the menu. The cherry amaretto cocktail was also a stand out. On Tuesdays and Thursdays they do a tapas menu where you choose 3 dishes. I'm always a bit wary of tapas as it can be very little food but the portion size was very good here so I recommend that if you want to try several of the dishes. The interior is nicely decorated and there was a good atmosphere as it was pretty busy even on Tuesday night.

The best Sunday dinner I’ve ever had. If you get the chance I definitely recommend it. I don’t live locally just found it while travelling home. What a nice surprise.

Lovely decor. Only one issue with the food, being that my steak was only luke warm when served. But perfectly cooked otherwise. Service was great and we were pleased to find they are dog friendly, which makes visiting whilst in the area much easier. Would definitely return.

Stopped in for a breakfast with our dog and wasn’t disappointed. Really lovely veggie breakfast with toast, egg, avocado, haggis, tomatoes, beans, hash brown and toast. The coffee was on point too. Lovely big mug. Will be back.

Very friendly staff. The Full Fox is a lovely all day breakfast and if you need Gluten Free and/or vegan, the caramel and pecan brownies are out of this world

Went with our dog for a family brunch and we all loved it and were made very welcome. The Full Fox breakfast was delicious, and my daughter had a vegetarian version and she enjoyed that too. Great vibe and in a nice quiet part of Carlisle close to the castle and castle car park. Highly recommended..

I was actually really disappointed with this establishment. The menu is clearly listed online as having Gluten free adaptable food, but upon asking staff, I was reluctantly informed that the kitchen was a cross contamination danger zone, right down to the the same toaster being used for gluten containing food....just the other side of the toaster! Which is ridiculous!! I ended up not getting any, food and sitting watching my family eat (who had already ordered) while I had a glass of water. This cafe is definitely NOT gluten free, some food items maybe, but they are contaminated during the preparation/cooking process. If you have Coeliac disease, like myself, avoid at all costs. *edit* After the below comment was left by the cafe to my review, claiming to still be gluten free, I also forgot to mention that in the small print at the bottom of their menus it literally warns of 'low gluten'. An establishment is not gluten free if they are warning of 'low gluten' contamination. As I said above, a cross contamination danger zone. For anything to be gluten free it has to register 20 ppm or less of gluten after the proper testing. Going off the cafes low gluten warning, I doubt they have had their food tested, or maybe did and failed. Still, definitely not gluten free. As for the the staff member in question, he stated infront of both myself and my husband the gluten free bread is toasted 'in a separate side of the toaster', they were literally his words. Offering gluten free adaptable food, is claiming that the gluten free dish is safe to eat. If you can't guarantee that, you shouldn't be serving it.

Went here during trip to Carlisle. Great chilled out atmosphere. Super service. Food was yummy, The American Fox was memorable. The eggs in the eggs Benedict could have been bit runnier. The Mocha was delicious, one of best i've had. Loved the names at bottom of coffee cups. Highly recommended.

Had an absolute blast at Walkabout! The energy was on point — great music, lively crowd, and solid drink options. What really stood out was the service — Thalia behind the bar was incredible. Super friendly, quick with the drinks, and just a great vibe all around. She really made the night feel even more fun. Can’t wait to come back!

The bouncers didn't check our IDs and while I was in the patio area, I was told by a bouncer to have 'some respect for myself' even though there were many people wearing much less than me as it was Halloween. Also, my friend wasnt allowed back in after having fresh air and was unable to get their things. The bouncers were incredibly unprofessional and were acting like they were on a power trip instead of prioritising the safety of the customers.

Travelling through Carlisle for a trip and spent the night at Walkabout. Archie was, no, is the best server in the world. My girlfriend was really picky on drinks and he was able to help whilst still serving loads of people and not making us feel forgotten. You don’t find good customer service in young people nowadays but this man is incredible

Been a couple of times when we've been passing through Carlisle. The food is ok for what you get, feel like the prices don't reflect the portions. The tables seem to always be sticky too.

We did a bottomless brunch here. Thalia was our server she was so lovely and helpful. She was quick at serving us drinks and she also let us modify some drinks that weren’t on the menu. It was the perfect brunch

Don’t remember how I got there. Don’t remember how I left. All I know is that as soon as I stepped in the building, Archie appeared out of thin air like the answers to all my prayers. My guy was pouring drinks like his life depended on it. Fast. Flawless. Utterly, truly majestic. At one point i saw him make six shots with one hand and hype up a group of girls with the other. Pretty sure he called one of them a queen and it healed her emotional trauma. He isn’t just some random guy on the bar…he’s also a part time therapist. He handed me a shot of tequila and comforted me while I sobbed uncontrollably about my dead stick insects—told me it was okay to hate my mother for feeding them to my crusty cat that has no teeth and smells like beef hoola hoops. His presence heals all wrong in your life. I would follow this man into war. I would name my first born child after him. If he told me to fight the devil himself, I would do it with no questions asked. If you go here and Archie isn’t working…leave. If he is, prepare for the best night of your life. All hail Archie.

We cycled from John o'Groats to Land's end and stopped here one day for breakfast which was the best all week!

Absolutely brilliant bronze buffet provided for a function I had organised. Lovely variety of fresh sandwiches, quiche, sausage rolls, chicken goujons, fresh fruit, cakes, etc, etc. Have no hesitation at all in recommending this establishment for outside catering! Thank you! My last post was from earlier this year. Just had another delicious bronze buffet for a small home function and, again, couldn't fault the food. Great variety of sandwiches, sausage rolls, samosas with dips, etc. Cannot recommend Steve and his team highly enough! Thank you again!

The sooner the pub gets taken over the better. Its a local and deserves better, the sinks in the toilet today were disgusting, its a good job they don't do food anymore as you wouldn't want to eat there.

Arrived earlier than our reservation but were seated immediately and without fuss; the staff were all very friendly. Menu choice is very good, both food and drinks options should suit most people. Quality and quantity also very good for the price; we will definitely return if we're back I Carlisle.

It's a nice little restaurant and staff were lovely. Started out great with haggis bon bons which were delicious however there were several things not on the menu (early on the Saturday evening) and the other things we did have were bland, greasy and really disappointing.

Arrived in Carlisle on a Saturday evening with no booking for dinner! Eventually found this place and staff went out of their way to find us a table. We had a lovely meal and were well looked after. Thank you.

Hidden in a 80’s place just down the town center sits this nice little restaurants. The dishes are based on “tapas”, but with a twist. They’re huge, for one. And interesting combinations too. We had the falafel, chicken, hamburgers, “Italian” salad (ok, it contained Parma ham) and wraps. All delivered to our table with “gusto”. Well recommended as an alternative.

Amazing food with amazing customer service. Always a great atmosphere and would highly recommend going for a meal.

Had a great birthday treat night here. Food very tasty ! The alcoholic drinks DO have alcohol in them ( unlike some places, you do wonder sometimes), I found out this when I was talking gibberish to my eldest son. Staff very friendly and helpful. Nice surroundings with decent people in it having a lovely time.

Always enjoyable each time I visit, with a varied and often changing menu. The restaurant can get busy at peak times, so it is always advisable to book in advance, to avoid disappointment. The staff are friendly and attentive. Extra credit due to the staff for conjuring up some food that met the exacting standards of my five year old!

Chic and pleasant place to eat. Pretty good food: nice home-made nachos. Philly Steak Fries was tasty, but the sauce was trying hard not to be soup, and failed - steak was good though. Pizza disappointing as they'd used fresh mozzarella, which always turns pizza into a soggy puddle. Not a great range of beers, but the Brooklyn Defender on draught is a lovely IPA that's worth a try.

Called by chance for lunch. What a great pleasure. The lovely lady behind the bar greeted us and seated us. The menu was varied and we chose the steak pie and the chicken curry. Both delicious. Generous portions meant we didn't have room for a dessert, but they sounded yummy. Easy parking and good beer. You made a rainy day sunny.

We had an excellent evening at The Plough. Great atmosphere, a friendly welcome and great beer. We had roast pork on a Sunday and I'm fussy about my roast dinners. But this was huge, real roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding, made by the chef, not out of of a bag. It was a gorgeous meal.

Good stop over with above average pub food in pretty village near M6 junction just south of Carlisle. Remarkable village church designed by Sarah Arlosh....Romanesque in style. Never seen anything like it! Amazing lady ...

The Service was brilliant, the waitress was friendly, kind. Unfortunately slow cooked beef was very dry and hard to chew.. Vegetables was very nice and gravy delicious! But it wasn't worth the money. Lovely friendly pub in a great location & a lovely village, stayed there on the way up and the way back from Scotland - we were welcomed like old friends on the way back. Rooms are very nice indeed & well equipped and they are very dog friendly. Food is excellent, especially the cook your own on a hot stone Tuna Steak which I had on both nights as it was so good!! We will definitely come back 😀 !!

Found this pub last year(24) had a Sunday roast and a meal through the week. Absolutely fantastic the food was top notch, service brilliant all staff were lovely, friendly and very attentive. We've come back this year(25), and nothing has changed apart from a nice play area for the kids, great for our grandson. The food , service etc still top notch. Unfortunately not the best experience for us. We had to wait 1h+ for our food to come. The staff did not come to inform us of the wait however they directly proposed a rebate when we went to pay. This was greatly appreciated. The food was good though! And the atmosphere of the inn was warm and relaxed.

Superb food. Extensive and varied menu. Staff are highly proffesional. Immaculate in all areas. Welcomed on arrival and thanked on departure. It would be nice if they had a staff tipping system where you can leave a tip by card. Not many carry cash. This was my first visit. Thought this level of care and service was a thing of the past.

Food was spot on, service with a smile! We stopped here for an evening meal whilst on a stopover in Carlisle and were not disappointed. They have an amazing menu of pizza and pasta with a Sardinian twist. Perfectly cooked, not over seasoned like many Italian restaurants can be. With my Mother in Law in Carlisle Hospital, we decided on the Sunday night to head into Carlisle for some food. We were late heading out, and even though Sannas closes at 9pm, us wanting a table for four at 8:15 was perfectly fine for the team. Great atmosphere, and clearly a popular spot in Carlisle, we ordered drinks, starters and mains for our family. Drinks and starters came out quickly, as did the mains after we’d finished. Everyone throughly enjoyed there food ~£25 a head for drinks, starters and mains Highly recommended

Warm service, super nice pasta and pizza with super reasonable price at happy hour. Stayed in Carlisle for 3 nights, went here twice. It's pity they were closed my 3rd night.

Lovely restaurant, managed to get a table on a Friday night on the way up to Scotland. Fantastic food, we both had a really authentic pasta dish and a great salad. Good wine selection and absolutely excellent service - lots of young staff who did a great job.

We use to eat there regularly. This is first time after four years. The food has improved and the pizza is crispy now.

I've been here a few times and have never been disappointed. Apart from the food been top notch i love the actual building and the cosiness inside the restaurant. Shout out to all the staff, especially the young lady who liked my wifes t-shirt! She was very professional and training staff at the same time! Why would i need to go to any other Italian restaurant when this place is 👌

We managed to get a table here having not booked, but it wasn't quite so I think booking ahead to avoid disappointment would be sensible. The atmosphere was warm with Italian homey vibes with a good volume of music the temp was a little high for me but probably fine for most. The loos were clean, however there is one lady's and one gents that see up the stairs near the kitchen, the stairs are in regular use from waiting staff so be mindful, also the light was switched off while I was using the lady's (I was thankful for my phone torch at this point) as the light switch for some reason is on the out side wall..just a minor hiccup The staff were a little rushed but given this they were still attentive and professional The food was delicious, cooked well and presented nicely. I made a request for a change of pasta type to my favourite and they accommodated gracefully I would definitely dine here again.

A unique Italian restaurant that’s both impressive in some ways but lacklustre in others… My partner and I entered at around 2:15pm on a Saturday and despite the place being busy we were able to get a table (I would recommend booking a table just in case) The place is cosy to say the least, there’s not much space between the tables and it could leave you feeling a little claustrophobic. The decor is rustic but definitely Italian inspired, I actually really enjoyed the decor, it felt unique and a new experience for this area which was nice. For food, my partner opted for the spaghetti bolognese from the lunch menu while I went for the Quattro Stagioni pizza (I swapped the peppers for mushrooms) and we got a bowl of chips to share. For drinks, I went for the Irn Bru while my partner chose Coca Cola. Our drinks arrived in a surprisingly small half pint glass, surprising as there was no indication of drink size on the menu and they cost £2.30 each… The food arrived pretty quickly and we tucked in, my pizza was absolutely amazing, full of flavour and very generous with the toppings (except pepperoni, I would’ve appreciated a few more slices). My partner had Parmesan added to her spaghetti bolognese but unfortunately didn’t enjoy it, she said it tasted like watery tomatoes - I gave it a try and have to agree unfortunately. The chips were also disappointing, for £4.50 I expected something better than frozen theme park chips. After we had finished, we asked for the bill and it took rather a long time to firstly get the bill and secondly get someone to bring the card machine over, there’s a big sign saying “please do not come to the till to pay” but I feel this would’ve made things a lot quicker. Overall, if you’re looking for a quality pizza in a unique environment then this is really hard to beat - as for pasta, the spaghetti bolognese needs some work.

My first visit meeting with friends before attending an event. The premises themselves are beautiful with lots of history. We were early birds so as the evening progressed and the restaurant filled the warm friendly atmosphere became more apparent. The menu was good and varied with happy hour options clearly marked. The staff were approachable and obviously very busy during our visit. There was a choice of tables both upstairs and downstairs, although all required access via at least one set of stairs. Toilet facilities were upstairs too, the ladies had one cubicle so plan well. Even the gents had a queue. Queuing was quite awkward too, at the top of the stairs with staff needing to pass with food from the kitchen. In such an old building this cannot be avoided, it's just important to be aware. We weren't able to find room for a dessert, having had such wonderful filling main meals. We opted for a traditional limoncello instead.

Wow im sure it's all been said b4 however I need to say how amazing the service was today, we had garlic, tomato pizza starter, pizza napoleon, pasta with parka ham and asparagus it was 10/10 was great to see the sauce cooked properly freshly made with eggs non of this ready made crap. Will 100% be back soon. Many thanks guys your doing great.

Room was smaller than others we had stayed in on the holiday but it had been well furnished with a modern bathroom which compensated. There was no traffic on the road overnight so it was quiet. Food was a high standard and the service was great. Breakfast offered full English or muesli to cover the basics. Worth a visit.

The pub and restaurant were amazing. We chatted with some friendly locals in the pub while waiting to check in. Afterwards we ate some of the best fish and chips. The rooms were nice and everything felt welcoming and down to home. Would stay there again.

Sunday lunch yesterday. Very pleasant staff and surroundings. Unfortunately went down hill due to length of waiting. Food was lukewarm, give them credit as we asked just to heat it up but they brought us a replacement meal. Waited 40 minutes for dessert which never came. Paid the bill and left. Waitress said delay in service was because of two birthday parties in. They should have employed more staff if they knew how busy it was going to be. Has put us off going back. Charles Carter

I stayed here for work and loved it. The room was big, clean, and had everything I needed. The food was delicious and the staff were friendlyand helpful. I would happily pay to stay here again.

A well earned 5 stars. Great service, lovely room, decent evening meal. So far on our Wall Walk from Soloway to South Shields, this is our favourite stop so far. Dog friendly too.

The venue is situated in a small village about 5 mins from Carlisle Airport. The staff were lovely and attentive to our customer needs, the selection on the menu was both extensive and yummy... The portions were of a good size and both me and my mate were spoilt for choice.. We didn't stay there, but would certainly would, as the food was great and a perfect stop over

6 of us went for our friends birthday. It was a Saturday night and very busy. The staff managed well considering the volume of customers. The food was very good and we all enjoyed what we chose.

Fantastic meal. I was here for a retirement do, and everything was great. I had the cheese soufflé, which was to die for, and the steak was excellent, perfectly cooked and tasted great. If I had to nitpick, I would say I would have liked chips with the steak, but overall it was really good. The sticky toffee pudding was too sweet for me, but other colleagues enjoyed it very much. The staff were fantastic too, very helpful and well presented. Highly reccomend.

Staff are amazing location is great and atmosphere is excellent amazing food starters were better then the main but still great food always like to end the night with an Affogato

A nice pub with a good selection of food (including vegetarian options) and drinks (check out their cocktail menu!). The staff were friendly and our orders arrived promptly. The pub has a lively, pleasant atmosphere, but we found the food a little underwhelming for the price. The cheese soufflée starter was very heavy (more like a pie) and the main had a nicely cooked fish but absolutely tasteless sides and a runny sauce that overpowered the entire dish. Would definitely come back for drinks and stacks, but probably go elsewhere for a nicer dinner.

Biggest scallops ever!! Very enjoyable lunch, the staff were very pleasant and efficient. Our meals were lovely. Would recommend as the pub is in a picturesque village setting. It may get busy in the evenings.

My husband and I visited on Thursday 11th September whilst away for our minimoon. The food was fantastic, the service was amazing and the atmosphere was wonderful. We were the only ones in there at the time, but they still set a specific table up for us and honestly it felt like we were having VIP treatment! The portion sizes were really generous too, we got three courses each and were struggling because we were so full but it was so delicious we wanted to eat more! 100% recommend and would absolutely go there again.

Really nice setting, it's quite a small menu but there's something for everyone and the food is amazing. The staff are friendly and nothing is a problem it's worth travelling out even just for drinks and the scenery.

We had an absolutely wonderful lunch here. The setting is beautiful, we sat out on the grass in gorgeous sunshine. The staff were all super efficient and very friendly. We ended up staying for three courses which we weren't expecting to, but the menu all sounded so good! We were not disappointed. Lovely presentation, very high end cooking and good portion size! Highly recommend, an absolute hidden gem we were very lucky to find!

Food wasn’t bad but it wasn’t good either (I had the steak burger but it was more bun than burger). Portions quite small (I had to make something at home after eating at the restaurant). If you want to pay £11.30 for a large glass of wine and £3.40 for a can of coke and eat mediocre food, then this place is for you. Service was good and nice atmosphere. Difficult to find at the end of single track country roads.

We found it by chance trying to stop somewhere nice to eat mid route on our way from Glasgow to East Yorkshire. It’s a bit in the middle of nowhere but then magic happens and you enter a very nice, well set restaurant. Beautiful dishes and desserts, and fantastic service. It’s worth the diversion. 5 stars.

A Sunday train to Carlisle, a brief escape on a grey, windy afternoon. A short stroll led us to The Last Zebra - a name that promises something a little different, and a modern, lively interior that delivers. It's busy, popular, and suits almost any company. Service was a highlight: our Canadian server, with her soft English and warm manners, made the visit even brighter. Food was quick, simple and well done. A charming spot to linger over a meal or simply watch the world go by. As for the name, it's cheeky, memorable, and entirely justified. The Last Zebra isn't just the last of its kind; it's one you'll hope to see again. ✨🦓

Absolutely amazing, would definitely recommend. The food is a bit pricey, but the portion size and flavour is absolutely worth it. The staff were lovely and it was an overall amazing experience. I had the ruby curry naan and it was amazing.

We came here on a recommendation from a lady at the military museum in the castle and we are so glad we did! The best food we had all week and very good service too. We had halloumi fries, broccoli and green beans with Parmesan, chunky fried fish as a three dishes deal (£26) plus chicken kebabs. Really great beers too

We booked here after our usual place was fully booked on a Sunday. We were seated quickly by the polite staff. We ordered 3 different drinks from the juice bar section of the drinks menu , that arrived promptly, and were beautiful! When the waitress came to take our order, we were disappointed to hear that the lamb and chicken Sunday roasts had sold out, this was a bit of a blow because that's exactly why we'd gone in, it would have been appreciated if we had been told about this before we had ordered the drinks, it was only 3pm, but guessed that they may have been previously very busy. Myself and my husband opted for the beef dinner, my daughter opted for the chicken karaage. When dinner arrived, it was presented well, it looked very appealing. It tasted nice, but would have been nicer if it had been warmer, so slightly disappointed .My daughter loved and recommends the chicken. Overall the decor was tasteful. The staff were really polite and friendly but we felt that the food was a bit of a let down. Drinks were amazing though. So we may give this place another go, but maybe earlier on in the day!

A brilliant pub! We came one evening on our trip - as we were checking other pubs that just didn’t fit the expectations we had. This pub had everything / country vibes / great food / great beers! Staff was so lovely and even accommodated our dogs in getting them a water bowl. The little things count! Only thing I would say is - either message them on Facebook or go in as many times we called and could not get an answer on the phone. Both nights the food was absolutely superb and the atmosphere so warming. Would definitely return here again!!

Best Sunday roast ever! I also had arancini (which was amazing) and a homemade brownie. The quality of food here is really outstanding and for a really good price. We just wait a little longer for our plates, but not a problem as food was very good. I wish it was closer home, I would go often.

Use this spot for a beer-break when walking from Gretna to Carlisle and for this, it is ideally suited. Good selection of well-kept beers some of which seem to rotate from visit to visit. Prices pretty much what you would expect from a more upmarket village pub. Staff weren't particularly welcoming or chatty. I arrived at the end of the night once and they were pretty much winding down and chose to gather at a table and chat amongst themselves while keeping one eye on the bar. There is a big friendly dog that prowls about, though. Lots of seating indoor and out. However at night the outside lighting is pretty poor and after a few beers it could be dangerous. It's clearly a popular pub with the locals and a go-to meal stop for a lot of folk from further afield. Food looked and smelled fantastic, dunno about the prices.

My partner and I went with my parents for a combined birthday/anniversary meal. It’s a really lovely, cosy atmosphere, and the log burner is fab! The staff are all really nice, welcoming and friendly. They’re very attentive, and they were great with the dog. The food is amazing. We had cheese soufflé, prawns, chicken liver parfait, sirloin steak, rib eye and fish cake between us, all of which was cooked to perfection and great quality. Highly recommend the peppercorn sauce! Jack the spaniel also enjoyed the chips. The toilets are also lovely, and very clean. It’s a little on the pricier side, but absolutely worth it for the quality of the food, service and atmosphere.

The pub itself has a friendly, vibrant atmosphere. Staff were very obliging and welcoming. My food, however, was very disappointing. I’d ordered cauliflower fritters which were supposed to be accompanied by mushy peas and chunky chips. When it arrived, it came with garden peas and frozen chips which were dry. The fritters were chunks of cauliflower in batter which were hard. Overall, the meal was dry and tasteless.

We stopped here for an evening meal passing through on a trip to Scotland. The staff were welcoming and friendly, great with our dog too and brought her a bowl of water as soon as we were seated. We asked if we could order a sausage for her and this was no trouble at all for them. It was warm and cosy with the fire burning. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. I had slow cooked lamb off the specials menu which was melt in the mouth, husband had the new starter haggis on toast and the Cumbrian tasting of pork which he said was the best meal of the year he also recommends the beer (Tirril Ullswater Blonde) our son had a steak which he said was the best steak he's had. The deserts were just as spectacular. We loved that all the meat is locally sourced too. Excellent value for money.

Great place to eat. We hadn't made a reservation but they managed to squeeze us in. Two of us had the 2 courses for 16.95, while two had the normal menu. Great choices- large portions, well cooked good grub. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Will definitely return.

1st time I have been here. OMG if I could give this 10 stars I would. I had the pan fried sea bass and a mini cesar salad and my friend had lamb. This is one of the nicest meals I have ever eaten. Every cooked to perfection.

I suppose that, as a vegetarian, ordering from somewhere called 'Blie Rare' is maybe daft, but I was too tired to cook and really really wanted cheesy mash. So I ordered the halloumi ceaser salad starter, along with my cheesy mash side, cheesy garlic bread, tzatziki and chocolate cake. Normally, when I make my own cheesy mash, I make a whole painful and end up eating nearly all of it. I only expected a small amount of mash, given it was a side, but it was an enormous portion, really hot, and clearly home made. The halloumi salad was big enough for two people. Arrived twenty minutes earlier than expected, with a cheerful and friendly delivery driver. Everything was absolutely delicious. I've never ordered from here before, but I will again.

Beautifully made place for a nice home made dinner and/or dessert. Most of us are sick and tired of take aways: pizzas, burgers and other... Bluerare is the place to come not only with your family but also as a couple and children are welcome 🙂. You will never feel hungry after your meal. There are choices not to miss from steak and ale pie through gammon, roast to various pasta dishes. There are also vegetarian dishes and kids menu. Moreover, there is also a very good range of drinks, so you can find something for yourself 🙂. I am posting some pictures as well, so you can see for yourself.

This was the 2nd time we have had the beef roast delivered along with some sides orders. The beef roasts are superb value for money. Great tasting food and the portions are plentiful. The garlic mushrooms are quite possibly the tastiest I have ever tasted from any restaurant.

Out with a family of 6 and toddler for grandads birthday. What should have been a nice night turned into laughable attempt of customer service. 1 main got sent back as it was overcooked and the peppercorn sauce was the most disgusting flavour ever. This person was offered a pudding but didn't want anything else to eat. Others ordered 4 puddings (after waiting quite some time to get ordered), of which 3 came out and left the 2 year old waiting for his ice cream until after all others had finished. When the bill came a pudding had come off the bill for the persons bad meal which was still expected to be paid for, but they never had one. How is that compensation for overcooked food and inedible sauce for them? Querying this at the till, the response from the kitchen was "it was sent out right". I DONT THINK SO. (I mean, did they taste that sauce, I wouldn't wallpaper with it!) Disappointing end by what seems to be low customer service skilled staff. 1 person was affected, (they didn't get compensated), they left a toddler waiting (surely bring theirs first), bringing an end to what should of been a happy night being altogether. All of us won't be going back there again.

We got take away as it was my birthday, my daughter was supposed to get an egg with hers although I was unsure on how an egg would travel across town, however they did not send it so think menu needs looked at for take away ! Overall meal was very good, expensive for a take away but very good quality nice for an occasion i.e my birthday we had one back in July from there too and that was also quality.

Blue rare is beautiful. The food is lush and the whole team are lovely. They have gone above and behind during the pandemic and over Christmas and new year. The drivers risk themselves everyday in all conditions to deliver food out to people. I love going here and love that I have still been able to get a taste of their food through the takeaway service. We were running late to find a spot for quick dinner in Carlisle and managed to locate a parking spot and Gianni's pretty much at the same time. Staff checked with the chef to see if they could servr 2 more diners before closing. All okay and we were seated. We ordered sharpish as we were aware of the time. Food was fresh and served quickly. We had a lovely chat with the owner's daughter and the staff were also very engaging. Apparently Gianni's has been running for 3 decades and the photos around the restaurant documents its history and all the fun revellers have had down the years at Gianni's.

Gluten free pasta and pizza available. Cosy and authentic atmosphere. Staff were really pleasant.

i'd very much recommend this restaurant, loved it!! it had a flawlessly fun and charming atmosphere and felt very much like the kind of warm and characterful restaurants you find in Italy. the food was amazing, and astonishingly the mains generally cost around £10 - a very generous price for the quality of the dishes. there's a great range of dishes to choose from as well! perfect little restaurant, definitely one of my favourites! it had so much character and a warm atmosphere, good service, and great food :)

One small issue that I did not mention at the time was that the 'garlic' naan could do with more garlic, either butter or garlic pieces. Recommended to me by the 'String of Horses Inn' staff member.

We called here last minute, and got squeezed in on a Saturday night. I’m so glad we did! The service was fantastic, the food was exceptional and not at the cost of portion size! I ended up taking some home to my husband! If you like Indian food, give this place a try you won’t be disappointed!

An absolute hidden gem of a restaurant. Accommodated 4 of us at short notice. Portions are huge and flavoursome. Vegan and veggie options available and the chef is happy to adjust the heat of dishes to suit your palate. Unfortunately we live 200 miles away but will definitely be back next time we are in Carlisle.

Four of us ate at Khans last night and all we can say is “it was absolutely fantastic” all of the food was better than any other Indian restaurant we’ve been to and we have been to a lot. The staff couldn’t have been friendlier and the food couldn’t have been better. We are now definitely going to be regulars here as we can’t fault this restaurant one bit . HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Below average. Was looking forward to trying this , as it's about the only Indian restaurant around Carlisle I haven't been to. Disappointed, poppadoms were not crisp (£1 each and £3.50 for 3 small dips) my daughter and partner said the tikka masala was the worst they had ever had. Although I enjoyed my curry, it has black rotten coriander on it. My mum's Biryani sauce was tasteles. What really was disappointing about the visit was the atmosphere, we were sat at the back of the restaurant around 2 tables of 30 blokes. We couldn't hear ourselves speak and couldn't wait to leave. Waited around for ages for someone to ask if we had finished, in the end had to go ask for the bill at reception. Also charged for a pint we didn't have. Only realised afterwards.

I met some friends here earlier this evening. The staff were absolutely lovely, delightful, and charming, but the food was even better!!!... I thoroughly recommend a visit if you enjoy Indian food, even if you have to travel out of your way to get there... Thank you again, ......(and all the very best for your future in Radiography)

Visited today for lunch. Was very quiet and we didn't need a reservation. The food was the usual Pizza Express quality and as we had Tesco vouchers, it made it an inexpensive lunch. The waitress was very pleasant and polite.

Great food . Good service . lost a star for getting my takeaway dessert wrong. Cost me £7.75 and I don't like lemons !! Should of checked before leaving the restaurant 🙄 😒

Went for a birthday celebration, and the atmosphere was brilliant. We weren’t too rowdy though. The staff were such fun and they couldn’t have been nicer to us. The price is good too and I spoke to Aaron the manager to tell him what a lovely time we had. You can really tell it’s under new management now. Thanks for this guys.

Visited here last week and upon reflection thought the visit was deserving of a review having dined here last around 18 months ago vowing to never go again due to slow service and mediocre food. However this time the experience was exceptional the service was efficient yet attentive and the food superb. Wonderful ambience and a much broader menu than I remember PE having previously.

The staff are lovely . They were particularly patient with my 2 tired hungry grandchildren. Nothing was too much trouble especially for our waitress, Lucy. Would certainly recommend for a family lunch. Foid was excellent and the children's menu us exceptional value.

This place feels a bit soulless these days. Both items I wanted weren't available, so I ended up getting something that I ended up not liking so much. Service was fair, but not even as much as a smile from the waitress. There was maybe 15% capacity, which seems low for a lunchtime. I won't go back as there are much better options.

We had previously tried to go here on at least 5 different occasions, but each time all tables were occupied. On this occasion we arrived at 11.45 am and were lucky to find there was a table available. It was definitely worth persevering and can now understand why it is always so busy. The food was delicious and freshly made. There was a choice of three homemade soups (2 of which were vegetarian). The BLT served in white bloomer was exceptionally good. Every member of staff we encountered were all so friendly, courteous and efficient.. It is without doubt, in my opinion, the best place in Carlisle for lunch and we have tried many.

A delicious Chicken Caesar Salad! It was absolutely delicious with fresh ingredients and lots of chicken! I can’t praise this unassuming cafe enough, service is top notch, when they had run out of pink lemonade some fresh raspberries were added to my sparkling water, nothing is too much effort and service is always with a big smile. Every customer leaves with a courteous, did you enjoy your food? They always do! Keep doing what you are doing and don’t get me started on the cakes…oh and if a baked potato can be devine they are too!!! Small independent, family run business that truly cares about food and excellent service!

We popped in for lunch the Panini's are well worth the money, larger than expected with a nice side salad and coleslaw. Staff are friendly and happy to help whether you are visiting Carlisle or in town for shopping pop in you won't be disappointed. Just a stone throw away from the Cathedral, Carlisle Castle and Tullie House Museum.

What do you want from a cafe, breakfast, lunch? Amazing coffee? Home made cakes, scones and pastries? Home made gelato? Kevin and Claire have got you covered. Their food is amazing their service is fantastic. They have created a warm atmosphere that makes you feel welcome and at home. They are always busy which is a testament to their lovely cafe.

Really really great. Had the ham hero and the tomato/pesto soup - partner has an enormous and really well cooked jacket potato with mountain of cheese and beans. 10/10 and all the cakes looked incredible.

Great food, great service and great value for the high quality. Breakfast in particular and the cakes are top draw. I think people need to remember this isn't McDonald's, quality costs money and TAKES TIME, If you want rushed rubbish go elsewhere, Toby carvery perhaps?, otherwise have some patience and some respect for this great local business 👏

First visit for an overdue catch-up with a friend. Drinks in the sun out in the ample beer garden, located to one side between the pub and its carpark. We decided to have a bite to eat so the bar staff booked us a table inside. Opting for the smaller portions was ideal for us. There were a good range of dishes to choose from, and a specials board. The food was perfectly cooked and served on nicely warmed plates. I chose the Cumberland Sausage, egg, beans, and homemade skin on chips. I will have to go back at some point as I spotted Salted Caramel Brownie on the dessert menu. There were plenty of tables in this busy village pub, a lot like ours were reserved, so I'd definitely recommend booking ahead if you want to eat. There was some seating at the well stocked bar, too. There are stone steps from the beer garden down into the side of the premises. I would suggest using the nearby front entrance if you have mobility difficulties. The toilets facilities are small, but clean and well serviced. All the staff were friendly, super helpful, and polite. We were made to feel very welcome. You can pay by cash or card.

We called on a Thursday afternoon for a bite to eat before my partner got the train back to the north east. The staff were very friendly & extremely helpful. The food was good quality & served hot! I had steak pie & my partner he’d fish & chips, both very nice indeed. The pub is also dog friendly!

Lovely pub. Friendly staff who greeted my dog with biscuits! The goats cheese starter was absolutely divine, easily a two person portion as far as starters go. The mushroom tortellini special of the day was also sublime. The veg curry was ok but the main thing that stood out for it was the onion chutney that came with it. The staff were also having a chat with a group (I assume locals) and it was so pleasant to hear their jokes/fun facts. Good parking space and plenty of outside seating too.

We are up for a 4 nights,called in The Wheatcheaf pub after a visiting the local sites. The pub has a lovely atmosphere, staff were really friendly and helpful. Had some food and I had The Cumberland sausage and mash and I must say best mashed potatoes I ever had, food was piping hot and delicious. We will book Sunday lunch for sure. A very big bonus was the cater for Dogs and the waitress gave them a very large bowl of water… Can’t praise this pub enough and looking forward to go back.. Thank you so much…

We were staying in the Crown Hotel down the road and fancied a change of scenery, so we opted for the Wheatsheaf Inn. What a great little pub. Full of locals when went in and a very lively atmosphere. Local ales on tap, the Eden Pale was a great session ale. We ordered the Thai Salmon which was cooked to order but didn't take too long; it was worth the wait, beautifully cooked with a nice crisply skin. Couldn't fault it. The staff were friendly, courteous and efficient. All in all a 10 out of 10 experience. Would certainly recommend it.

Lovely old fashioned local pub. Can’t comment on food as didn’t eat just had a drink. Bar staff were friendly, helpful and pleasant. Ended up chatting with a couple of locals and felt very welcomed. Would visit again and try the food as all tables were reserved for later on so looks like good place to dine.

Dismal dining experience. Only 3 tables occupied on a Friday night, theres a clue. Cold( no one seemed bothered we kept our coats on. Very fancy menu, but food very average and overpriced. £30 for piece of fish that looked more like a starter, no veg. Seasonal veg was 2chantenay carrots, 2 tough bitter kale leaves, ditto 1 cabbage. Service lackadaisical and disinterested in our response to the question how is you meal. First and last visit.

My wife and I have eaten at The Queen’s a few times. Sadly, no more. Yesterday a member of staff was serving at the bar, taking orders and serving. It wasn’t busy, but we had to wait for about an hour for our meals. The prices seem to have been ‘hiked’ since our last visit. Not acceptable!

Friendly service with excellent food....I usually avoid a Sunday Roast as it never quite meets my personal standards...but it was great. The Twaites IPA also went down very well. If we are up this way again we will be back (Arnie voice required 🤣)

We stayed in our motorhome overnight in the carpark. Lovely quiet location with quick access to country walks. The bonus for us was the restaurant. Bangers and mash and burgers like you've never tasted. Clean modern well decorated restaurant with huge bipolar doors out to the gardens. Well stay again

We recently went there for a meal (7 people). Between sitting and ordering to getting the bill………. Two hrs. Now, I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again so please all I ask is take note. Either the gravy or the steak pies, or both are very salty. That was the verdict of the 5 people who had the pie.

Stayed here from a BritStop recommendation and it was excellent. Plenty of parking for a motorhome in the car park, we were one of 3 that stayed the night. The food was DEVINE, a pure Scottish sausage and mash, just what we were looking for, and boy, it was impressive and DELICIOUS. Highly recommend this place, plenty of outdoor seating, and indoors, also doggo friendly!

Yesterday I had what is the worst veggie dish I have ever been offered in the area! Only one main dish on the menu - falafel burger - on a Sunday lunch menu! Arrived, roll, with 'cremated' (originally frozen?) burger, french fries, small container of coleslaw and a smearing of Romesco sauce. I should have sent it back but it is always a difficult situation when you are with family/friends. We veggies don't ask for much but burgers! Really! Service ok, rooms don't know, location great.

No complaints from food taste, all delicious and enjoyed. Not great service. Table of 8. 4 ordered starters, 2 random mains came before any starters. Bread rolls came 15 mins before the soup. Another 15 mins for the remaining 3 starters. No kids choices on the menu, 3 kids had to order full price roast dinners. 30 mins later, while at the bar, we noticed the kids' menus that weren't brought over...

Sunday Dinner's are a DELIGHT! Service was almost instantaneous! And the size of the roasts were incredible! Better work up an appetite if you want a full sized roast, but a smaller option is available for a cheaper price. For those with a sweet tooth, you won't be let down. The desserts here are remarkable. Following my colossal Roast Turkey dinner, I opted for the Raspberry Crumble Tiramassu. Heaven. So light and so tasty, would highly recommend. And if you can't eat at the restaurant, fear not! Simply ask for a takeaway box and enjoy at home! The interior is beautiful, lovely decorations and wall art. Staff were very polite and friendly, and drinks were good too. I will definitely be returning!

A very big Thank you to Gavin & Johnny & all the staff for the service we received for my Mum's 90th birthday celebrations on Tuesday. The upstairs venue room was set out perfectly and all our needs and requests were catered for. Nothing was too much trouble for Gavin & Johnny. It was perfect! I went in the afternoon, the car park was full, ( it is wheelchair friendly, when you find a space) Also the entrance is wheelchair accessible, BUT you need to negotiate two sets of doors before you actually get inside the dining room proper. Surprisingly on this occasion, though NOT on every occasion, the restaurant was half empty. This is probably because it was the middle of the week, but nothing is for certain. The menu i seen was not extensive, and prices were around the £17 mark. That said what I had was hot, with good portion size and extremely delicious. There is also a starter menu and a dessert menu also. I can't quote you on the price of the drinks, as it was my birthday and I wasn't buying. The toilets are clean.

This was our second visit to The Auctioneer, meeting family on our way home from a trip to Scotland, it's a convenient position makes it an ideal spot, just a few minutes off the motorway. The staff are friendly and attentive and the food is really good with very generous portions and the option to have a smaller portion for a reduced price is a great idea. We will definitely be back in the future.

Can't fault the food at all,my husband asked for no gravy on his plate and that's what he got. It's definitely worth a visit if in area,we will go again.

Our first visit to The Oak and it didn’t disappoint. We had the Sunday roast including starters and the food was excellent! Very well presented and the flavours were delicious. Sunday roasts can be too much but the portions were spot on. The service you couldn’t fault either as the manager and her team were very attentive throughout. Highly recommend and we will definitely be back soon

What a hidden gem this place is. Wonderful friendly staff, great ambiance and absolutely sensational food. We opted for the tasting menu and the presentation and delicious food, flavours and textures with each course made it hard to pick a favourite! We will definitely be back. Can’t recommend this place highly enough.

Delicious Sunday Lunch, absolutely top notch. Particularly loved the Wild Mushroom Velouté starter and the Pork Belly Sunday main, the sides with this were excellent too. Thank you for a wonderful lunch. We will recommend and will be back.

The staff could not have been better they were amazing and very attentive from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. The food was delicious and great value for money. We traveled from Newcastle and will definitely add this to our visit list when ever in the area

Extremely nice location peaceful village lovely atmosphere and very friendly and helpful staff. Had the Sunday roast and is probably the best in area. Had roast beef was super tasty and tender with all the trimmings

Visited as a group of 8 and enjoyed the tasting menu on the Chef’s table. We honestly couldn’t fault a thing! The food was absolutely amazing! We loved the theatre of the chefs table with the chefs personally talking us through each course as it’s served. The whole experience was fantastic and we can’t wait to return.

A very pleasant experience in this quaint English country pub. Upon arrival we were greeted and shown into the restaurant where we were given seating options by a very polite young lady. The service was excellent and the range of food choice was good with an easy to read well laid out menu. The food when it arrived was presented very nicely and it was very tasty. I was in company with my wife and her 96 year old mother who has mobility issues. My only criticism is that the entry to the disabled toilet was blocked and we had to ask the people sitting at that table to move when my MIL needed to use the toilet. Other than that it was a very nice experience with lovely helpful staff and I look forward to returning soon.

On first impressions a lovely quaint English pub. We stopped for one night in dog friendly room. Member of staff who greeted us was lovely and friendly and young lady who served us breakfast was very polite too. Sadly our experience at breakfast wasn't very good. There was mould on one of the items of food. We asked to speak to the manager (which we believe is Mr Jackson). Sadly he wasn't very professional, and didn't even apologise for our unacceptable quality of breakfast. All he offered was a £10 deduction from our £140 b and b bill. Not what we expected. Considering he told us he is about to do a £300,000 refurbishment I am sure an apology and a larger refund was not beyond his reach. So please be aware if you have to make any sort of complaint.

Only stayed for one night, but will definitely go back again when in the area. Service from the staff was second to non, food was exquisite (possibly the best steak&ale pie I've ever had) the room was a wonderful contrast of traditional pub / farm building meets modern contemporary air bnb type property. Would highly recommend.

A fantastic little pub in a gorgeous village. We had a good meal inside - the old walls are amazing. Excellent staff service and the craft/local beers are great. Some decent vegitarian options on the menu. There's a fantastic walk by the river you can do afterwards upstream from the bridge.

Amazing food and nice choice of beers, lovely vibe inside and out, dogs very welcome and staff so friendly and brilliant at their jobs. Definitely going to come back again when we're in the area.

Fantastic looking pub. Reeks of history. Well kept ales. Locals kept to themselves but It was towards the end of the night so were unlikely to strike up a conversation with a lone walker. Staff were friendly enough.

Excellent! A real English country pub and inn with some cozy ensuite rooms. Good beer selection with some local ales and also cider and gin. Good English food, not only fish and chips. It is located in the small and nice village of Armathwaite, not so far from the main roads M6 and A6 between Carlisle and Penrith.

A friend brought us here while we were visiting and honestly the food was incredible. We tried the Chicken Parmesan and the Shepherds Pie it was so delicious that we went back the second time after craving the food. I will say when we did go back I ordered the shepherds pie again it was a little bit on the sweeter side but it was still good. For the portion size and quality the price in our opinion was worth it. We will deff be back when we visit again x

I was just passing by when a thought crossed my mind and in my heart I knew this was the place to have an Expresso Martini cocktail. Wonderful place, unreservedly and friendly bantering drinking neighbour at the bar and polite member of staff who prepared the my favorite cocktail. I, one hundred percent recommend this amicable location for food, drink and good old socialising.

What a great little restaurant! Decided on a day trip to Carlisle and we had seen the food on Facebook so decided to go for a late lunch. Didn't grab the name of our waitress but she was so lovely and attentive. Drinks were delicious and refreshing and our pulled beef sub with gravy was amazing!! Couldn't reccomdnd this place enough, picture doesn't do it justice lol

Been coming here for years & have always loved it. Just not the same as it used to be, hasn’t got the same buzz it used to & service was a lil slow (& I miss the bone marrow gravy on the Sunday dinner) Staff are always really lovely though which keeps us coming back ☺️

Great meal, very generous portions! Bring a second stomach if you order a main, they will fill you up. Menu has a wide variety of dishes to choose from, something for everybody. Very friendly atmosphere, great staff!

My wife and I had lunch today, absolutely fine and reflected the reviews I had read. My wife's wagyu burger with chunky chips was very tasty (according to my wife), as was My chicken schnitzel caesar salad. My only small complaint would be that the croutons tasted stale. Would we go to the Coco Mill again......yes!

Super friendly owner. We ordered fish & chips and seafood platter. The fish was crunchy outside and fresh and yummy inside. Seafood platter was good, too. I especially like the fish in the platter, fresh. Mushy peas was nice, I like to eat it after having deep fried food to get rid of the greasy taste. Tartar sauce was really good, too.

A post remembrance day parade warm up. I chose the small portion fish & chips (cod) with mushy peas and a pot of Earl Grey tea. The staff were welcoming, polite, and efficient. Every table was checked in with by the boss, who clearly cared about his patrons' experience. The food was perfectly cooked, very tasty, and the portion size was perfect for me. There's the option of eating in as well as the traditional takeaway, located around the side of the building. Varied menu with gluten-free option available. There's plenty of seating indoors with an outdoor option that just wasn't for me today. There are well-kept toilet facilities upstairs. It was definitely worth a visit, and it was such a treat on a cold Sunday afternoon.

Fabulous little chippy in Scotch Street. Fresh food, cooked to order and well worth the wait! Fish and chips super tasty. Even homemade tartar sauce! 😋 Loved the vase of fresh flowers on each table. Waiting staff are courteous and seem to work hard. The owner is very accommodating and as I was about to leave tonight, and the shop was closing, a customer walked in off the street and they invited him in, to serve him.

This is a gem of a fish and chip cafe. The owner is honestly one of the nicest people I have met, and the gluten free fish and chips were absolutely delicious. He keeps separate fryers solely for gluten free catering, and prepares in a separate area. This was my first time visiting, and I will definitely be back.

Found this gem of a restaurant while out shopping. Owner was having to nip out for 1/2hour so told the assistant to gives us a small plate of chips and a drink till he got back. Husband had the fish tea. I had the chicken curry. Fish was cooked perfectly. And the curry was delicious. Best I have tasted. Service was excellent. And had a nice chat with the owner after we paid for our meal. Highly recommend anyone to come for a meal here if shopping at Carlisle

Singaporean wife and I stopped off here on our way back to Scotland. By god, one of THE best fish & chip teas we've had in a very long time. It did take a little while to be ready, but was freshly made and piping hot. Would give 10 stars if I could!

Popped in for lunch. Fish and Chips. Quite enjoyed it. Chips good. Small portion of chips. Nice sized haddock (was expecting cod but haddock is fine). Marks deducted for not draining the fish very well. Held it upside down and the oil poured out. Had it been rested for three mins, this wouldn't be a problem. Would visit again. Nice little restaurant.

This is a good stop over to and from Scotland or for the ferry to Northern Ireland. Stay in your van at the pub for free or the Aire next door for 12 incl electric. The food at the pub is good quality, varied and great value. The staff are brilliant and it is dog friendly. Take ear plugs for a peaceful nights sleep as the M6 is adjacent.

Great motorhome stop over with level gravel marked out pitches.Early bird menu was excellent value for money.Staff were very friendly. Lovely walk along river pathway to keep our dogs happy.Stayed two nights and will definitely return again

This is the perfect stop over if you're travelling a long time to or from Scotland. We booked a motorhome pitch for the night, the parking was at the back of the pub, quiet, clean and good facilities. We ate at the pub, its dog friendly and the food was amazing! Nice selection on the menu, very reasonable prices, lovely atmosphere (especially near the fire). I would highly recommend this place!

We stayed in our motorhome on the aire and had the early evening special menu (5pm to 6pm weekdays,) the food was stunning, 3 courses £13.95, 2 courses £10.95 !! We had originally planned on 3 courses, but the starter & main were more than enough for us, good sized portions, really well cooked (the steak pie was amazing) and very friendly staff, brilliant! Well recommended. Thank you 👌

**This is just a review of the place as a place to get a beer, not about the restaurant or park-up** Used this spot for a beer-break on a walk from Gretna to Carlisle. For this it is ideally suited. Staff were friendly enough and left me to my own devices when I told them I wasn't here for food. Beer pumps available are limited (John Smiths) at a reasonable price for a restaurant - and, in fact, for a village pub, but some bottles available too. I was Guinness from a can on a previous visit:( Good spot to sit outside with a brilliant view of the Esk and it's crossing.

What an absolute gem of a place. While the location is very unassuming, more of a convenient stopover by the motorway (expect traffic noise), the pub shines through its people. Stranded here due to a motorway closure and subsequent accident on the diversion, the lady initially said they were closed for the night as none of the staff had made it in. When she heard I wanted to stay the night, she offered to get me fed regardless, as she did with the other campers that were booked into the aire. She also offered a couple who were apparently involved in the crash to stay overnight in one of their camping pods rather than let them spend an uncomfortable, cold night in a damaged car. So kind! Had a lovely steak pie, seriously honest pub food and will certainly stay here again on my way north/south! Thank you!

A great place for lunch and dinner. An extensive menu, good service, good value and lovely staff. Its well worth a visit and you won't have any regrets.

First visit to this restaurant. Like others before me, I found the staff to be a little off. Like they didn’t really want me there. Other than that, the food was very tasty. Fast service and reasonably priced. Very empty on Wednesday night. As you’d expect. Would imagine the weekend atmosphere to be better. Give it a try 👍

Food is ok but you'll see by my other reviews it's not up there with the best, a little bit bland and not got enough spice. The building is also in dire need of modernising and the atmosphere was a bit dead!

Couldn't fault the curry. 6 of us with all different curries, everyone enjoyed theirs. Poppadoms to start and chicken tandoori balti for main with rice. Really tasty. I thought the staff were a bit miserable and didn't look or sound like they wanted to be there.

Last night, I had the opportunity to dine Shaha, and I must say, the experience was quite the rollercoaster. Let me start with the food—it was absolutely delicious! I would rate it a perfect 5 out of 5 stars. Each dish was bursting with flavor, and the presentation was stunning. From the appetisers to the main courses, everything was crafted with care and attention to detail However, the service was a different story. Unfortunately, I would have to give it just 1 out of 5 stars. The staff seemed annoyed and frustrated which really detracted from the overall experience.I understand that busy nights can be challenging, but it was disappointing to see the staff making me feel unwanted! At times i would even say i felt uncomfortable. In conclusion, while I would highly recommend the food at Shaha for anyone looking for a fantastic meal, I hope they can improve their service in the future. It’s a shame that such a wonderful experience was overshadowed by the lack of attention from the staff. I would recommend taking away ur food so you don't have to deal with the stuck up staff!

Very nice. I would have liked a bit more meat in the biryani, but good amount of prawns, good flavour and plenty of vegetable sauce to go with it. The cauliflower side was tasty, and the starter very good, onion bahji was light and sweet.

Food was very bland didn’t taste at all like Indian food - We were were rushed and made to feel very uncomfortable with staff pacing up and down One member of staff was very rude and short in conversation like we should not be there and it was a inconvenience for them to serve us food which we were paying for Quite a negative experience all round !

My go-to place in Carlisle. Food is simply amazing and service lovely. Everytime I am around in Carlisle I make sure to have a diner here. Great for vegetarians/vegans, too!

A quiet place, not crowded even on a Friday night, thus no reservations needed. The food was served quickly, all the dishes were served in about ten minutes after ordered. For the fish cake, which was the same shape, size, and flavor as what I've had at other Thai restaurants. I ordered the pad gar prao with beef and it tasted better than I expected. But for all the food in the main course, you need to buy rice or fries separately except for the pad thai. I ordered the egg fried rice which cost me another four pounds. The prices of the food, taking inflation, have gone up 20-30% from the menu a year ago. For a casual meal between train rushes, £30 is extravagant. But nothing to complain about, after all, the service was excellent and there were free prawn chips.

Came here 1st time on 12-12-23 wow how much we gave missed out all these years!! Beautiful food. . Lady so very helpful could not of asked for anything more!!! She even got chef to make curry less spicy!! Honestly can't not wait to go back! Clean friendly beautiful food!!! Thank you!!!!

What a lovely restaurant. The staff were so friendly and attentive. Our server was happy to go through the menu and make sure we had enough of everything. The food was beautiful and tasted amazing. We were quite full by the end. It is a reasonable price we had 2 courses each and a bottle of wine for under £50. Thoroughly recommended.

Personally I love Thai food. This one is the best I ever have in England. I was stay over Carlisle after visited Scotland, I found this restaurant by the good review, so I gotta tried it out. It taste so good and incredible, especially I had order one special dish that I never had before, it called Gaeng Phet Ped Yang (Red Curry paste with Lychees, Pineapple, Coconut, basil and tomato), that one was excellent! I really like the curry taste and mixed with the fruit, that’s sweet. Because of the excellent authentic Thai food which rarely found in England, we decided to go there again for dinner next day. Eventually we visited twice. I like the Pad Thai, Stir Fried mixed Seafood, Jungle Curry and Duck Red Curry. The staff were very friendly, the atmosphere was good. Good quality of food and big portion and reasonable price . Definitely want to come again. Highly recommend.
