Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Mauritius, Le Chamarel Restaurant offers a unique dining experience with panoramic views of the ocean and mountainous landscapes. Whether you're seeking a romantic dinner or a peaceful escape, this restaurant provides an ideal setting. With a focus on local cuisine, the chef uses fresh ingredients to create healthy and delicious meals. The relaxed environment and breathtaking views make it perfect for enjoying Mauritian culture while savoring scrumptious seafood and international dishes.
I had long looked forward to dining at this stunning restaurant—and it truly delivered. Not only was the food delicious, but the picturesque 180° view elevated the entire experience. The staff were very kind and attentive, adding to the warm and pleasant atmosphere. A perfect blend of flavor, service, and scenery. Absolutely worth the wait. Highly recommended.

If you're dining at this restaurant, remember to make a reservation online! It's incredibly popular! 👍 You don't want to drive an hour and not have food to eat; that's a shame! I made a reservation a week before my trip to Mauritius, and the restaurant manager even sent me an email to confirm my reservation. If you go to see the Seven-Colored Earth, please keep your ticket stub and you will get a 10% discount. There are not many parking spaces, please arrive early to find a parking space during meal time😘

Incredible views from this restaurant. Well worth visiting especially if you are visiting the local sites around here. I would recommend booking a table as it can get quite busy. The tables directly overlooking the view are first come first served, but there is a little viewing platform that everyone can go to for photos which is nice. The food was really good. I really enjoyed the palm heart salad and the grilled prawns. You could easily sit here for a few hours enjoying the views, unfortunately we couldn’t stay very long!
Selina Z — Google review
A beautiful restaurant to appreciate Le Morne’s view. In my opinion, the menu is limited and the service was not the best. We arrived early which gave us the opportunity to admire all the details within the restaurant. Nevertheless, I will certainly come back as it is located in a wonderful location with a magnificent view.

We ate here during our anniversary trip to Mauritius. It's a bit of a trek from the northern end of the island, but worth the drive. I spent the morning golfing at Heritage and we were definitely hungry for some food. We arrived quite a bit earlier than our reservation and had no problems getting seated. The restaurant definitely filled up closer to our actual reservation time. We were seated at a table along the glass. It was one of the best seats available, we could easily see Le Morne and the sights below and all those getting in their photos weren't able to stand in front of us during our meal. We tried the gadjacks and I ordered the butcher's cut and my wife the chicken and prawn curry. Both dishes were cooked well, seasoned, and fresh. Definitely one of the better meals we had in Mauritius. I had a mojito made with local rum and it definitely had some kick. I'm not a big rum drinker, and the local rum has a bit different taste to it versus those I've had in the Caribbean. The views were awesome and the food was worth the cost. We paid $60(USD) for the whole meal minus drinks. If you're traveling to Mauritius don't pass this stop up

Happy they could accommodate us ... but reservation is a prerequisite... The service was good... The toilets were clean and immaculate... They are used to serving foreigners so... the waiter was not understanding my creole... but nevertheless he recommended some venison rack which was delicious.. The Gajak Mauritian is convenient for two . The fresh palm salade with srimps was the show stopper.. both appealing and delectable. The chamrel Sling was fresh and refreshing.. its a very nice place with amazing views of the south... its a must visit restaurant.

Love the view for sure! Breathtaking to see the mountain and sea altogether. Food was good, pricey but worth the ambience. Enjoying ourselves. Make sure make a reservation before coming.

View to die for. Loved the architecture of the place too as they have kept original trees. They accommodated us very graciously last minute lunch without a reservation. Parking is also available. Food was very good. Do not miss the desserts.

Restaurant
Varangue Sur Morne is a restaurant situated at an elevation of 500 meters, offering a stunning open veranda with panoramic views of the unique forests of Black River Georges National Park and the southwest coast of Mauritius. The menu features a blend of French and local specialties. Visitors have praised the friendly service and delicious food, particularly recommending dishes like eggplant and shrimp curry. While some found the prices slightly high, many appreciated the quality and ambiance, making it a worthwhile dining experience.
It’s like you are eating in the woods. Heaven view from the restaurant. Delicious food and the menu has a large variety. Very professional staff and friendly hosts. Each time I go there I enjoyed the food.

Veryyy nice place! You get the view of le morne mountain! The food is mange creole, mais " plus bon ki manger lakaz". 😄 You can have lentil with food but a different and yummy one! Really like the food and the restaurant owner is very gentil. Very friendly and take care of its clients! Just that you need to be there when the weather is good else you don't have a good view!

Very remote restaurant on the mountain. Good service and food. Beautiful view. Good place for a stop and eat

We randomly stopped by this restaurant and were positively surprised. The food was great (recommend the vegetarian curry), the views were incredible and the staff super friendly!

Very delicious food. The personal was very very kind! The order come vary fast in less then 10 minutes. We order tea for our children and we request honey to put on it , if they don't have in menu they bring from the kitchen. I definitely recommend to have lunch here!

Awesome view! Great food. Really quick service. However female staff seemed to be on the defensive/rude when asked questions about pricing and VAT rules. Didn't make a good first impression. The male server saved the day with due care provided and constant checking up on us. Tried to make up with some helicopter ride marketing.
Geet B — Google review
Such an amazing restaurant. Couldn't pick a better location for breathtaking views of the mountains. It is so well constructed, the panoramic views are amazing. Access to the restaurant is through a gift shop, this leads up to steps to the restaurant, we couldn't help but take pictures which made us late for our reservation. The restaurant is spacious and has a lovely rustic feel. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The food was nice, my girls had burgers which were all home made and full of flavour. Definitely must visit for the views alone. I will absolutely return upon my next visit.

We got to this place by a guide. This place has a magical view. But neither the service nor the food lived up to the prices ask. You have to come and visit it as a regular guest.

Restaurant
Palais de Barbizon is a charming family-run table d'hôte located in Chamarel, offering authentic Chamarelloise cuisine. The restaurant provides a simple and welcoming atmosphere with orange splatter paint walls and photographs of famous visitors. Rico Intelligent, the village mayor, and his wife warmly welcome guests to savor old family recipes such as rice, five types of curry, fish, and chicken. The staff is friendly and accommodating, providing a local experience with delicious food at reasonable prices.
Wow what a lunch! We found this little gem by pure luck and it was a pleasant surprise. The owner is so friendly and welcoming, and the food is just incredible. It’s super authentic and really well priced. There’s no menu, you just pick the type of meat you want and they bring you a selection of dishes. We had chicken and fish - both were great. This was definitely one of the best meals we had on the island. Highly recommend for lunch!
Nergis Y — Google review
The food was good and we did enjoy it, but the price and service? Unbelievable. We were charged 700 per person for a pre-prepared meal made up of small dishes — completely outrageous. The place was quite dirty, and the service left a lot to be desired. Staff rushed us through the meal, repeatedly asking if we were done (even while I was still chewing), all because they wanted to close — without ever informing us of their closing time. I don’t mind paying a bit more as a tourist, but this felt like a total rip-off. It may look like a charming, family-run spot, but it’s just another tourist trap. Skip it.

We passed this lovely place on our way to Chamarel and I told my husband that this is where we will be eating later after one glance. It reminded me so much of Kentucky, and low and behold it really was. Mama serving reminded me of my aunts and grand mother and the Mister who courted us in was like every uncle, charming and full of humor. He described the menu and we were served the best soul food on Mauritius. Absolutely delicious. Chicken, fish, wild boar and different sides. This was truly the best eating experience on the island. Merci Barbizon. Worth every rupi. I laugh at the complainers. 🙏🏽❤️
Damia — Google review
Great place to experience Mauritian food we had the vegetarian dishes with Rice, Chicken and fish amazing 3 of us ordered Tamarin Juice which was nice and sweet it was our first time drinking the juice. With our drink we paid 2100 Rupees which is not bad for such a meal it can easily feed 4 people.

We had such a great experience eating here! 5 kinds of veggies; chicken; fish; boar and rice. It was absolutely amazing good food!

Simran G — Google review
Tourist trap, way overpriced. Food hardly edible. For the same price you could be at le chamarel restaurant overlooking the ocean and beaches with much better food. Best to avoid. Almost $100 for lunch for 4. Better food and prices elsewhere.
Jared B — Google review
Local restaurant with Homey food that is worth trying . The menu comprises chicken leg and thigh curry, fried fish or marinated fried wild boar (sanglier). 1 menu costs 600-700 rupees and is enough for 2 people to share, it is served with rice and small cups of different vegetables and lentils ,

Restaurant
Tucked away in the picturesque valley of Chamarel, L’Alchimiste restaurant is a delightful culinary gem located within the renowned Rhumerie de Chamarel, celebrated for its artisanal rums. After exploring the distillery and learning about their award-winning rum production process, guests can indulge in an exquisite menu featuring traditional Mauritian dishes. From succulent duck breast drizzled with guava and strawberry sauce to flavorful chicken and shrimp curry, each dish is crafted with care.
We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant - not only was the food absolutely delicious, but the service was outstanding. After leaving the restaurant, I realised I had accidentally forgotten my bag with valuable items inside. To my great relief, our waiter MICHAEL had found it and kept it safe for me until I came back to collect it. This level of honesty and attentiveness is rare and truly deserves recognition. It made me feel completely cared for as a guest. We will definitely come back - highly recommended!
Laila G — Google review
The atmosphere at the rhumerie is very nice as we were sitting outside. The food though was terrible. The taste was blunt, not salty at all, bread for apetizer very old. Service quite slow but friendly. I don't advise at all to go for lunch here, it's better to spend some time in the garden after degustation and then to head for any other restaurant. We were very dissapointed. Also, it's very pricey, have a look.
Tereza J — Google review
The food is overpriced considering both the quality and portion size. I ordered a medium-rare tuna but received it well done instead. The service was also quite slow. One positive aspect is that dining at the restaurant includes a complimentary rum tasting.
Anislav A — Google review
We had lunch at the distillery restaurant on a road trip through the national park. It was an amazing experience at a very reasonable price. The service was excellent and the food very tasty. We arrived around 12 and it was almost empty, however when we left at 14 it was very busy so come early for a good seat and attention. We also took the tour of the distillery which is included when you eat at the restaurant. The tour was ok but nothing special. There is a tasting of 9 rums and liquors at the end. The rum is ok but you do not get to taste the 10 year rum. Overall I can highly recommend a stop for lunch at this place.
Søren Ø — Google review
Delicious, Generous, and Great Value – A Must-Visit at Chamarel! We had a fantastic lunch at L’Alchimiste, choosing the tasting menu, and it turned out to be one of the best culinary experiences of our trip. The food was incredibly fresh, beautifully balanced, and packed with vibrant flavors — all at excellent value for money. The tasting menu included four generous courses, beginning with their signature rum cocktail, the Ti Punch, made with their own house-distilled rum. It was absolutely delicious — bold, zesty, and the perfect way to start the meal. Standout dishes included the palm heart salad, which was crisp, refreshing, and elegantly plated, and the paneer masala, a rich and comforting dish with just the right depth of spice. The meal finished with a baba au rhum, which was indulgent without being overly sweet — the perfect ending. We were especially impressed by the portion sizes. Some reviews mentioned small servings, but in our experience, the portions were more than sufficient — we left full and satisfied. Service was warm and friendly, though slightly on the slower side — nothing major, and it allowed us to enjoy the relaxed, tropical atmosphere. One fantastic perk: eating at the restaurant includes free access to the rum tasting and distillery visit, which was a great bonus! It’s a brilliant way to explore the world of Mauritian rum while enjoying a truly memorable meal. If you’re visiting the Chamarel area, L’Alchimiste is a must — thoughtful cuisine, a gorgeous setting, and a full rum experience all in one. Highly recommended!
Katharina H — Google review
The place is very well located in Chamarel. Parking facilities readily available in a beautiful space. Welcomed by friendly staff, a walk down the garden with beautifully planted flowers and trees. Reaching the restaurant, greeted by friendly and welcoming staffs. Once ordered, food don't take that long to come. Food is served with a smile. The taste is fantastic, even the dessert was awesome. I highly recommend a visit to this restaurant, value for money.
Didier B — Google review
Braised pork was amazing! Best dish in Mauritius. Unfortunately that’s what my friend had and I had one bite of it. Mine was The Duck and it was dry. So I’m mixed in my review of the food as I would have given 5 stars if I ate the braised pork. Overall it was not bad as the rum set menu gave an opportunity to try out the rum.
Nick A — Google review
i am not happy with this place. for a meal that has such a steep price, it should really be quality eating. but unfortunately it was not. my shrimp and chicken was decent, but ive eaten much better for less than 20% of the price that ive paid here. butter masala however was unacceptable, it was like a completely tasteless mass of vegetable refuse. portions were also not big. we did however get bread and salted butter before we ordered so this was nice, our waiter was also very nice and kind.

Restaurant
Chez Ruben Restaurant is a popular spot known for its seafood and fish dishes. The service, while not the quickest, is polite and the staff are described as lovely and helpful. The restaurant offers a blend of local flavors in their signature cocktail, which combines rum and pineapple juice. Despite being a bit of a tourist spot with a large parking area, the quality of food and excellent service make it worth the visit.
Amazing place with great seafood and local cuisine! The place is beautifully decorated and everything looked pristine and clean. Super friendly owner and staff with great service! Super high maintenance and standard. The seafood platter was so tasty and we are very full!! The bathrooms are so clean and big as well!! Nicely decorated. We will definitely come back again 👍👍👍 and highly recommended for anyone coming this way to pay a visit for this beautiful restaurant 👌🏻👌🏻❤️

My family and I had an absolutely amazing dining experience at Chez Ruben Restaurant! From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed. The hospitality was exceptional, and the service was top-notch. Every single dish was simply divine! From the flavorful starters to the perfectly cooked main courses and the delightful desserts, everything was beyond delicious. The attention to detail in both presentation and taste was truly impressive. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment and would highly recommend Chez Ruben Restaurant to anyone looking for an unforgettable culinary experience. We can’t wait to come back! From Jayane and Family

Chez Ruben offered us an amazing experience with a top-notch seafood menu and delicious vegetarian options as well — something for everyone. The ambience was charming, calm, and perfect for a relaxed lunch after exploring the nearby attractions. The staff were courteous and welcoming, making us feel right at home. Also, the ample parking space was a big plus. Every dish we tried was full of flavor — fresh, authentic, and beautifully presented. A must-visit spot if you’re in the area and looking for yummy food in a peaceful setting.. An absolute Gem😍♥️

We stopped at this restaurant whilst visiting the 7 colours geopark upon recommendation of someone else. We won’t be coming again. It is extremely overpriced for what is offered. The food is ok. Although we had to wait for more than 1 hour for a vegetarian thali (rice, Roti and lentil soup were all cold) and a plate of braised fish (which was fine), but this meal cost more than half of hiring a Private driver for the day to take us around the island. Absolutely not worth it in my opinion. Staff were friendly but didn’t seem to know what was going on half of the time. We also had someone else’s Drink given to us as well. Also if you don’t eat meat, fish or seafood very limited options for you.
Louise P — Google review
Food and atmosphere are good. However, the service is really slow. Took a lot of time to provide the food and one dish was missing as well. Had to ask for chilli and garlic sauce 3 times before we got it.

We are on our way to 7 colored earth and spotted the restaurant at the corner of my eye because the place look crowded, the car park and the place looks big and nice and we decided to visit the place on the way back. At about 3:30 pm we arrived at the restaurant and the boss said that they close at 4pm and was a little reluctant to take us in. However, we manage to place our order smoothly at about 4:38 pm.The menu has indian and local food with lots of alcohol like cocktails. We choose to seat outside at the most cosy corner but the noise near the road was unpleasent enough for us to change. By then, the place was relatively empty but they still get the delivery of food wrong and was late. The boss say they have only 1 staff (as excuse?). Sensing the wrong delivery, we did not touch the food and the food was return. By that time, we were hungry and unhappy. Nevertheless, the seafood soup, butter chicken masala, fish egplant curry, prawn labab dar and the rice jeera was flavorful and tasty. The boss sensing we are not happy given that they are very late and weong, give us complementary additional jeera and prata. Overall we enjoy our food although the portion was small and the price was international and therefore the value could be better and not enough for us to return.

Restaurant Les Palmiers Chez Dev is a hidden gem nestled near the stunning Chamarel Seven Colored Earth in Mauritius. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with warmth and hospitality that sets the tone for an unforgettable dining experience. The menu boasts an array of delectable dishes, including some of the freshest lobster and grilled king prawns you'll ever taste—truly a seafood lover's paradise! The ambiance is equally enchanting, with picturesque views of lush mountains and nature that enhance your meal.
We stopped here during a tour of the south of the island. It's well worth a visit. The food was lovely and was served on a banana leaf. I had the chicken creole curry and my husband had the hotter chicken curry. Both were very tasty. Definitely try the heart salad for starter. Staff were warm and friendly.

The restaurant owners was very friendly and accommodating. The food experience was excellent eating on palm leaves. The curries was tasty 🤤 and the side dishes perfectly complimented the dish.
Eugene W — Google review
We were taken here as part of the south tour. The soup was ok, nothing else was good about my meal, which was severely overpriced, almost three times the price of an average meal elsewhere on the island that isn't a 5 star hotel. We felt scammed as even the restaurant across the street was also overpriced and we were hungry.

Visiting restaurant LES PALMIERS is not a good experience. When we arrived in mid day for lunch it was full and we had to wait in  private premises to get a table. The menu consisted of either fish or chicken plate for 600 MUR and tap beer for 175 MUR. After 20 mins, main dish has arrived on the banana leaf. Portions were very small and cold, not tasty at all. Many friends from our group tour were shocked as well. total bill for 2 persons 1550 MUR It was not a matter of price, but what you got for it. We had no alternative to eat elsewhere, because the tour operator brings all groups solely to that “establishment”, despite passing several other restaurants. The staff consists of one manager and 2 bartenders. The toilets are located very close to the dining tables and did not seem too sanitary. Many nationalities including French, Swedes and Brits were not happy as well. This place should be completely reorganized before making any offers for tourist tours. Definitely the worst part of our visit to Mauritius.

La Citronelle is a great spot for lunch, offering delicious grilled "catch of the day" that's well-prepared and flavorful. Rip off price for a simple beer. Got charged 600 for 2 small beers. Didn't eat but seeing other reviews the food is also over priced. Luckily we're staying in a 5 star place just a walk away where the prices are much more reasonable.

Food was delicious. Ordered octopus curry and fish, both were delicious. Octopus was tender! The curry was flavourful thanks to the different spices used. Service was very good.

Avoid this restaurant, its a tourist trap! We were on a full day island trip and we stopped there to eat something. Unfortunately, very disappointing. We asked for grilled prawns and they were actually fried, we asked for baked potatos - they brought french fries. Maybe the language was an issue... but when confronted, they said that they cook like this and it is grill. We ate in many places on the island grilled meat, fish and seafood and there were not fried.

I’d give this place a miss. Spicy crab.. really? A cloying sauce that had no spice. And about a tablespoon of crab 🦀 once shelled. Server was ok.. beer was under the plim line. We had two pepper shakers ( no salt) on our table.. and after we’d asked for an actual salt shaker ( for the bland food) he walked by several times without bringing one. Definitely could have used finger bowls with this mess of a meal. One dirty hand towel in each bathroom. Gross. Hand dryer was unplugged. Tables nicely set with ? Mexican music in background but the whole place was a rip.

We ordered salads and soft drinks for lunch. The portion served was tiny compared to its price.

I totally agree to the previous comment. Our taxi driver dropped us here. Only tourists in this place. Prices are way too high for Mauritius. You better go to a more local restaurant and eat better food for less cash. Also meals are very small. Good were free wifi, service and taste of the food.

La Marmite De Chamarel is a charming roadside restaurant known for its delicious food and slightly higher prices. The menu offers a great variety of options, and the friendly service adds to the overall experience. One highly recommended dish is the vegetable curry, which is definitely worth a try.
Can only go on my own experience but this was a good place to stop into whilst driving around Mauritius. Prices are high but the food quality was good. Service was friendly and the place had an authentic feel to it.

!!! TOURIST TRAP, DON'T EAT HERE !!! Be careful of this place as it's easily tourist trap. During our one day taxi trip around the island we've asked our taxi driver where we could eat some great local Mauritius food. He recommended this place. Once we came in, we were little bit stunned as the place seemed really cheap and dirty. We've hoped this wouldn't be a problem as some other restaurants looks exactly the same and are "hidden gems". This wasn't the case. Prices for what you'll get here are incredibly high. We've had 1 bland salad and 2 godawful curry. We weren't even able to eat lamb one as meat was incredibly fat. For this we were suppose to pay almost 50€! (around 2300 MUR) Not to mention these prices are even without VAT so they don't give you any receipt!!! This is clearly scam and it wouldn't surprise me if they have some sort of deal with taxi companies to split the revenue as other guests here were only passengers who came with their taxi drivers. The place is also incredibly dirty and hygiene is a foreign word here. !!! AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS !!!

Tourist trip. Do not go here at all. The food is quite expensive here at 760 rupees for vegan food. Also the juice they have is not fresh, its fresh out of bottle like maaza. They seem to have added too much masala in the curry

Small cute road Restaurant, excellent food, prices a bit high, good variety of choices, friendly service..try vegetable curry

The price of the food is way too expensive and giving too less amount for that amount which chargers. Even the dessert 'banane flamber' does not even worth the price paid.

This restaurant is located near De Chamarel. The staff are friendly but the food is too expensive

We were taken here by our taxi driver as part of our tour of the South. Our driver said it was very good food. We are not food connoisseurs but we were disappointed by our meal. We had had lovely curries during our stay but this was nowhere up to the standard we have had. It was also expensive for what we had. Very disappointing. No idea how to warn other 'clients' of the taxi drivers and our driver was lovely. The restaurant was full of customers delivered by the drivers. Such as a shame our trip was great but feel ripped off by the restaurant. It was super expensive and definitely not worth the visit.

Honestly, it was one of the word experiences ! VERY EXPENSIVE for food that was horrible! I live in France and it was more expensive than France for a food that i barely could swallow!

Saveur Tropical offers an amazing dining experience with delicious food and a welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant staff is friendly and attentive, ensuring that guests are well taken care of. The menu features a variety of delectable dishes such as gambas, spicy chicken liver, calamari with capers sauce, curries, lobster, and prawns at fair prices. The simple yet inviting setup creates a pleasant dining environment reminiscent of Rodrigues Island.
Amaazing food! Absolutely amazing! The whole experience from start to finish was great. Mr vikesh assist us with the booking for our staff lunch and was extremely patient with all our requests. The restaurant staff was so friendly and kind. Though they had so many other clients, we were always taken care of. The food can’t get better and the prices are fair for the portion size. The gambas were huge and soo tasty. Everything about this restaurant was great. The place was clean and smelled good. The staff also worked as a great team in bringing and cleaning up our food. The food was fresh and awesome. Great atmosphere with really nice people. I cannot recommend this place enough! Such a warm and welcoming environment!

I’m on holiday in Mauritius and stumbled upon this restaurant by chance and was pleasantly surprised! I came in really hungry and wasn’t disappointed: the chicken with honey marinade was an absolute dream, super tender and full of flavour! As a starter I had pastries filled with a curry potato paste, and they were absolutely amazing. If you ever visit the island: highly recommended!

Although the first impression is that you are taken by the guide to an expensive restaurant, possibly with which he collaborates, this is really not the case here. The food is extraordinary, it is not spicy unless you ask for it, and at least what I ate had a unique taste that I have not encountered anywhere else before. Decent prices, friendly staff, what can I say an extraordinary experience and I recommend this place with all my heart. This is authentic, local food!

Good place to visit after chamarel excursion. Nothing special. The hygiene may be not as good as it seems at first place. Overall we had tasty lunch without any discomfort. The noisy road during eating is a bit no no for me.

It’s overpriced as it’s in tourists attraction there are so many different and better restaurants in Mauritius ( the best thing is the shrimp curry)

Huge lunch on Viator SW tour. Fish salad, curry and desert plus drink and bread. Don't snack before you go

A typical restaurant with a nice menu. Tourists beware, prices are higher. Ask for the local menu and specify that you will pay cash, as prices will be much higher if you pay by card.

Chez Pierre Paul is a restaurant in Chamarel that offers a delightful dining experience. Customers have had a great time enjoying the delicious food served here. The waitstaff are dedicated to providing excellent service and are very friendly. The ambiance of the place is fantastic, creating a pleasant atmosphere for diners. However, the highlight of Chez Pierre Paul is its exquisite cuisine. Despite not being widely recognized yet, the food offered at this restaurant is exceptional and deserving of popularity.
This was our favourite restaurant with local atmosphere for lunch during out stay in Chamarel. Staff is super kind, helpful and the food is always fresh and tasty! Prices are very affordable. You can easily leave your car at private parking slot.

Went there for lunch with a group of 35 people. From the reservation to the bill, the woman in charge was incredibly helpful and kind. We had grilled calamari, chicken mauritian curry and grilled lamb — the food was excellent, just like the service. I definitely recommend this place and will come again!
Henri L — Google review
Tried Chez Pierre Paul in Chamarel, but the experience was disappointing. The Creole Sausage in Provençale Sauce had a delicious sauce, but the sausages were undercooked. The Fish in Vindaye Sauce was nicely cooked, but there was barely any sauce, which took away from the flavor. The highlights were the Crab Gratin and the cocktail, both of which were tasty. The Caramelized Banana was decent. Overall, some dishes were good, but the food was not consistent, which made the experience disappointing.

I went there for lunch. They had a great local variety of food. I ordered the lamb which was tasty and tender accompanied with chips and a fresh salad. Their fresh made Chilli paste had a nice balance of flavor and spice, enough to take some home. Service was friendly.

Chez M Chamarel is a hidden gem in Mauritius, offering delicious and authentic local cuisine that's becoming harder to find. The friendly and accommodating staff provide excellent service, catering to various dietary needs. Guests praise the owner for going above and beyond to assist them. The menu features a perfect heart of palm salad and mouthwatering dishes like flambéed banana with ice cream for dessert, all at reasonable prices.
Really tasty foods which are harder to find in Mauritius nowadays. Service was excellent with everyone being very friendly and accommodating for different diets. I actually forgot something at the restaurant and the owner went above and beyond to help me. Will definitely go through there again when in Chamarel.

We visited as tourists and had a truly wonderful experience! The food was absolutely delicious, and we could feel it was homemade, which meant a lot to us. The atmosphere was very warm and family-like. We only told our guide that we wanted to enjoy good food and good service, and here we received both. Many thanks to the family for this memorable experience. If we ever return to Mauritius, we will definitely visit again. Until then, we wish you all the best and many happy guests. Greetings from Hungary 🇭🇺

Absolutely delicious Garlic Prawns dish. I will be thinking about that for a very long time. Only downfall was the flies, and also was a little pricey, but the food was so worth the price.

Tourist rip Off! It's Always Dangerous when the daily Menu that ist advertised hast no prices to it.... The food is way way more expensive then it should be! Most Mains are around 800R and Up. A Glas of Coke 150R. And you still sit in plastic lawn chairs by the street. We should have left after we got the menu with prices and paid a little more at the Restaurant at charamel rhumerie. But there you wohnt get overpriced streetfood! I could watch that a lot of Tour Guides brought their Tour Here for Lunch - but themself waited outside and didn't est Here....not a good Sign! Oh and on the bill, the Main was 100R more expensive then in the menu...but both the Hand written Bill as the menu at the beginning were taken away so fast that i couldnt Take a picture

Restaurant perched on Chamarel serving Local cuisine, mixed feelings about this place; Pros: nice homely creole feel with the layout and outdoor seating, good customer service, food is tasty. Cons: small portions and very expensive, it's a tourist concept which feels unfair as tourist does not mean charging inflated prices... 🤔
