Paraguayan restaurant
Tierra Colorada Gastro, named after the red sandstone and clay that define Asuncion, has quickly risen to become a premier culinary destination. Under the leadership of renowned chef Rodolfo Angenscheidt, known for his TV cooking shows, this restaurant specializes in innovative Paraguayan cuisine with a fusion twist influenced by French culinary training.
The best dining experience that we had on our 2 week trip to Paraguay and Brazil! Delicious food nicely presented on the plate. Service was very professional and kind, patient with questions, and offering polite suggestions. We’re glad we made reservations, as the tables quickly filled up. We tried the ceviche, lomito with mushrooms, trout, and the profiteroles dessert, all were tasty and cooked to perfection. Including a bottle of wine, the total bill was a great value (low cost given the excellent food and experience). The restaurant decor provided a warm and pleasant experience. The neighborhood setting seemed very safe. Some diners were dressed elegantly but others were dressed fairly casually like ourselves. We don’t speak Spanish well, but there were no language related barriers, all good. Highly recommend this establishment to all.
GT H — Google review
A friend recommended it to me as best place in town and didn't disappoint. We enjoyed the starters with ceviche and the prawns. We shared a bife and it was a really large portion. Great meat. Excellent wine list. No tablecloths.
Jencinar — Google review
Highly recommended place for fine dining. The dish “asado a la olla” best interpretation of the traditional paraguayan food, perfect balance of flavours.
Carlos M — Google review
We chose this place quite arbitrarily for lunch yesterday when stranded by an airplane connection and needing a lunch venue relatively near to the airport and we were incredibly and pleasantly surprised. We were welcomed with warmth and courtesy, then we were surprised at the refinement of the menu, and then even more surprised at the beautiful quality and presentation of our lunch. This is an outstanding restaurant that we just 'tripped over' but I am very glad we did. The service was attentive and very personal, and the restaurant has a very welcoming vibe. Terrific place, absolutely fairly priced for the extremely good quality one receives. Thank you to the owners -- you are doing a great job!

Tierra Colorada Gastro in Asuncion showcases the innovative and creative interpretations of Paraguayan cuisine by Chef Rodolfo Angenscheidt. His culinary journey is impressive, having honed his skills in the kitchens of renowned chefs such as Gordon Ramsay, Michel Roux, and Martín Berasategui. His experience and expertise are evident in every dish, drawing inspiration from indigenous Guaraní recipes and making ample use of Paraguay's natural bounty. Currently #70 on Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants list (and the first restaurant in Paraguay to be included on the list), this forward-thinking establishment is a true testament to the chef's passion and expertise.
Hammad H — Google review
Recommended to visit this restaurant as I heard its one of the best in Asuncion. Was welcomed by the warm staff and liked the interior of the restaurant, especially how bright it is and also the centre of attention: the tree! Looked at the menu and asked the staff for recommendation and was recommended to try the Asado a la Olla, which is also a local Paraguayan dish. They also recommended me to try the lemon tart which I ordered eventually, as I wanted to see if I had the space to finish the main before having dessert. I was impressed with the main dish as I was told the beef was cooked for more than a day. The meat was so tender it felt like it could just melt in the mouth. Really enjoyed the food and the flavours though the plating was errrrr kinda weird. The lemon tart really hit all the notes for a good dessert and I definitely recommend ordering this. Have to say the meal was really enjoyable and thumbs up for the good food and service!

Shrimp and hearts of palm were good, the entrees were inedible. The seafood ravioli and the lamb were old and so bad we could not even eat them. The atmosphere is nice and service was good.

Bolsi is a renowned restaurant in Asuncion, known for its superb menu and welcoming atmosphere. It stands out with its extensive opening hours, serving customers until the early hours of the morning and reopening for breakfast. The restaurant offers a variety of dishes including Paraguayan, Brazilian, and Argentinean cuisine.
Review of Bolsi – Asunción, Paraguay What a great spot! Our servers, Cynthia and Isabela, were both very friendly and charming. We used Google Translate to bridge the Spanish–English gap, and they made us feel welcome throughout the meal. Food Highlights: Bife de Chorizo (400g): A delicious sirloin strip steak marinated with butter, herbs, and sea salt. Served with rustic mashed potatoes, garlic confit, and crispy shoestring onions. This was recommended by Isabela, and she was right—it was fantastic! For lunch, the portion was huge—I only managed half and took the rest to go. Vori-Vori: A traditional Paraguayan chicken stew with cheesy corn flour balls. The chicken was moist, and the broth was rich and flavorful. A must-try local dish. Empanadas: We shared two—Carne and Chilean style. Both were excellent. Drink: I tried the local Sajonia “Naranjito,” a refreshing light lager with a subtle citrus twist. Perfect for the warm afternoon. Overall Experience: An excellent restaurant with a mix of local and international dishes, great service, and generous portions. We found it especially nice for lunch—at night, the area around the restaurant can feel a little quiet and less lively compared to newer parts of town. Highly recommended if you’re visiting Asunción!
David L — Google review
It's a fun place to hang out and cheap. I advise you to get empanadas in a beer. They overcooked my last day otherwise I would have given it a higher rating.

My bill was 236,000 guaranies. We did not have a good experience at this well known place. We arrived around 11:15am, before the lunch rush. The staff kept passing by us, and we had to keep getting their attention. We were there more than 20 minutes before getting even a drink order in. Then a total of an hour before our food arrived. I saw it just sitting in the window, and had to ask for it to be picked up. When my wrap arrived it was under seasoned, the lettuce was soggy and brown and the meat a light brown or grey color. We tried to get the attention of supervisor, she was on her phone for the entire time we were there. Literally the entire hour, at the register on her phone. She just looked at me and then ignored me. We counted 9 employees standing around not doing anything. It looks like they are overstaffed and underdeliver. No one came to ask how our our meal was. I usually give a large tip, but could not in this case. I will not be returning and cannot recommend this place. Oveja Negra, or Mariscal Shopping are much better restaurant choices. The sushi was delicious. But overall very dissapointed.

We had the Cesar salad, and the canastita de comidas típicas, as well as a chop and piña colada (I did not like it). the food was very good! The best part was the service, our waiter Cesar was extremely kind and helpful.

Interesting place. They have a huge variety of dishes, baked goods, and drinks including nice draft beer. Server was nice to us despite language barrier caused by us. But they did not have any of the items I ordered to eat e.g. several seafood items, so to me it looked like the extensive menu was more of a wish list versus something they actually have to eat, which I find frustrating, as they let me order beer and requested food but took 10 minutes to tell us we don’t have your food. Still I rate them well because other customers seemed to be enjoying their bakery case items which I did not care to eat for lunch. Anyways the beer was cheap and good.
GT H — Google review
My place in Asuncion. Been there many times. Loved (almost) everything. The only reason for the 4 not 5 stars, is that there no prices (which are reasonable) on the menu. Come on guys! And some music will do as well.
Gad T — Google review
Nice café in a convenient location, just around the corner from the Panteón. The service was good and the atmosphere pleasant. There’s a lovely outdoor seating area to enjoy your drink. Even if the views aren’t the best (except for the mural on the building in front of it) it is a nice spot to stop and relax.
Natalia B — Google review
I’ve been traveling through Central and South America for the past four months, and I’ve learned that great restaurants can truly elevate the entire journey. On my visit to Asunción, my hotel manager recommended this spot — and I ended up dining here two nights in a row. It’s a fantastic place, especially if you’re traveling solo like I am. The restaurant features a beautiful U-shaped table encircling a central area, giving it a warm, Spanish-style charm. The staff were exceptional: well-trained, genuinely friendly, and wonderfully attentive without being intrusive. The food? Consistently excellent — every dish was a hit. I can wholeheartedly recommend making this restaurant part of your Asunción experience.

Restaurant
Lido Bar is a popular traditional eatery located near the Pantheon of Heroes, drawing in locals for lunch and dinner. Despite its lack of luxury, it has become an institution known for its home-cooked recipes and good cooking over the years. The bustling spot offers a chance to try out traditional Paraguayan cuisine such as caldo de pescado (fish and vegetable soup) and sopa (Paraguayan corn bread).
good service, very nice range of empanadas - both fried and baked
Emma D — Google review
If you ask a Paraguayan where you can get good local food, they immediately will say Lido Bar. So we tried it out on the very first day in Asunción. It is very busy at lunchtime and we had to wait a little for a seat. When seats became available at the bar, it took us a while to get the menu. The atmosphere is very hectic and somewhat chaotic, but that's also what makes Lido Bar kind of special. After a while we ordered typical dishes such as Sopa Paraguaya, Empanada Chilena De Pollo, Lomito Relleno and Bife de Lomito a caballo. Everything was delicious but not outstanding. Definitely worth a visit to eat with and like the locals, but not the best food in my opinion.
Tila N — Google review
To foreign tourists, if you want to enjoy your meal in Asuncion, do not go to this restaurant. Everything is served slowly, I ordered a second drink when the first meal arrived, but the drink arrived after the meal was finished (30 minutes later)! Surprising. However, the staff is trying their best. There are too many seats in the restaurant. I hope this message gets through to the management of this restaurant.

Ot sure what all the fuss is about. A very busy restaurant with menus in English. I sat at the counter and had a tasty chicken soup and a whole grilled fish. Very good and reasonably priced. Recommended.
John K — Google review
We enjoyed this restaurant at a busy Sunday morning hour as people leaving from Mass at the cathedral streamed in (hint: get in and get a table while Mass is underway, before the short rush hour). Lots of items to choose from, I had the vori vori soup with chicken thigh which was very nice but a bit bland based on the ingredients. They have draft beer, yeah! Nice local setting. They do take credit cards and cash in the local currency (normal). Being there in the after Mass rush, it was very difficult and annoying to wait interminably for our bill given they are more than adequately staffed, we had to ask three times and they definitely understood the request, repeating it back in English to us, and yet we still did not get our bill, we wondered maybe our meal is on the house?, even standing at the register after the three requests for a bill did not work, finally we unfortunately had to make a quiet yet focused “scene” with the Manager, literally begging for our bill, we hated to do that but we only had a few days to see the country and we really did not want to participate in some possible local tradition of waiting forever for the bill or being given a free meal, that was frustrating but nevertheless we really liked this place otherwise, thus the good rating. Notably we did not experience this strange practice of not being able to get the bill anywhere else in Paraguay.
GT H — Google review
I am displeased. We ordered a warm meal a salad an an empanada. The empanada and the meal were fine but I am quite confused by the salad. I got salad leaves but that is all. No dressing, no toppings or anything that would turn the salad leaves into a salad. Really it was just a plate full of the same leaves. The view is nice but I would recommend investing into nicer cutlery and dishware. The blank white and steel makes the tastewise okay (not nice - but okay) food seem unappealing. My Cappuccino was served in a nice glass though. Additionally the restaurant is very loud, which made us feel stressed. The dishes arrived out of order as well. The Empanada was served first and then a few minutes later the "salad" with one of our drinks and then the warm meal, after we were halfway through the warm meal the other drink arrived. It worsened the experience. The waiters are really nice. Even though they seem very stressed, maybe you should hire more, so they can relax a bit more. Pricewise it is around average I would say.
Solu 8 — Google review
The food here is absolutely horrible and overpriced. I would be hesitant to feed my lunch to my dog. I asked for rare meat and it was cooked beyond recognition I'm supposed to come with mushroom and onion sauce I saw one onion one mushroom and they tasted terrible I think it came from a Campbell's onions soup container. I mean this place is horrendously horrible the worst meal I've had in a month I didn't take a picture of it cuz it looked like dog food oh and it tasted like dog food.
Karen B — Google review
A very nice place for breakfast. They open pretty early as well. I liked the place a lot walking in it looks clean and spacious and bright. Pretty safe as well with security staff inside the café. Was recommended to come this place to try out the local Paraguayan food so I saw there was the Chipa Guasu and I ordered it. It was good don't get me wrong but the portion was really too big for me to finish for breakfast. Service was a little slow though took me quite long to get my tea served, though I was expecting it to be served before the Chipa Guasu but only after I finished what I could and was there waiting then they started preparing it. Not sure if they forgot about it. Quite a variety of food available wanted to come back but too many other places to try. Not bad and recommended.

La Cabrera is a top-notch restaurant located on Santa Teresa Avenue, with additional locations in Paseo La Galeria shopping center and Shopping El Sol. The entrance and decoration give the impression of entering a cave or cavern, creating a unique atmosphere. Known for its delicious meat dishes and excellent service, it is considered one of the best restaurants in Paraguay. Visitors have described it as spectacular and highly recommend experiencing the ambiance at the Santa Teresa Avenue location.
Great Argentinischen steak restaurant, the vibe of this place is amazing and the 🥩 steaks are super delicious 🤤. We had a great lunch my favorite was the rib-eye but and the Glents and everything else was also very good 👍 hope to be back soon!

What some stake? Then this is your place! When my food arrived, I was blown away by the size of the portion and how perfectly it was cooked. The side dishes and bread were also incredible. I ordered the steak, and it was definitely an excellent choice. If you ever find yourself in South America, specifically Paraguay, this is a must-visit place to stop and enjoy a meal, but this is a chain so you can fint same restaurant around many cities in SA.
Eldar — Google review
What is probably the most celebrated restaurant of Asunción actually lives up to the hype and even surpasses expectations. The ambience is elegant, yet not formal, and the service attentive, kind and professional. But the real star of the show is of course the food, both of really high quality and prepared to perfection, always respecting the doneness level of the meat you request. The experience is elevated by the fact that, along with any main course, you are presented with 9 cold and 4 hot small side dishes, all full of flavors and a great byte-sized introduction to Paraguayan flavors, mixed with more international classics. Along their steaks, which every first-time visitor should enjoy, they also offer a variety of lesser known cuts and interiors, as well as chicken and some fish. The restaurant is locally expensive, but still an incredible bargain compared to anything in Europe, North America or Australia. Highly recommended!

What an amazing experience! The steak was cooked to perfection! We also had the most delicious dessert after and some lovely wine. Thank you!!

We stopped in without a reservation and they kindly placed an extra table near the kitchen within 30 minutes, so we could experience one of the world’s most famous steakhouses! The service was 5star, food5 star and the atmosphere was excellent! Cheers from US Idaho fine steak connoisseurs!

This place was spectacular when my food was brought to me I wasn't expecting such a large portion cooked to perfection. Side dishes and bread also amazing . I got a ribeye steak definitely a great choice if you ever make it down to South America to paraguay 🇵🇾 this is a definite place to stop and enjoy a meal.

We decided to try the Wagyu meat. The cooking point of the meat was perfect. Even though it is more expensive than average meat, the taste is superv and reaññy worth trying (also far cheaper than doing it in the US or Europe). The restaurant offers as sides different types of small salads and sides that one cam choose free of charge.

El Café de Acá is a charming and cozy spot located in the heart of Asuncion, specifically in Villa Morra. It's a popular destination for locals and visitors alike, offering a delightful patio where you can enjoy specialty coffees, breakfasts, and snacks.
I don't live in Paraguay anymore but every time I go back I visit this place, it's a very expensive place but I don't think you can get better food and vibes elsewhere here. Yes, the service is a bit slow sometimes but the staff is very friendly and let you know before you sit down if that's the case. It's just a beautiful place overall (Order the Paraguayan Brunch, always.)
Matias B — Google review
We had a great time in Cafe the Acá. We went around 11 am on a Sunday and there were some empty tables inside. We ordered the Paraguayan brunch and the breakfast burrito. The portions were large and the food was surprisingly tasty. The restaurant has a very nice vibe and the workers were overall friendly. It seems like the place can get pretty busy so I would allocate time for this.

I loved it here. Very nice place and delicious food. Traditional paraguayan food and more western food as well. They got indoor and outdoor seats and everything looks really beautiful. Definitely get the mate dulce ♡

Loved the food. Very relaxing atmosphere. The service is good but slow.
Loowee — Google review
Feels like a posh American brunch place with below average food that more expensive than other places. Mbuja was ok but the other dish was a barely warm undercooked potato dish. We also waited over 40 minutes for food, including a milkshake. Besides the outside being a nice vibe, the rest is easily a pass.
Nicky — Google review
Don’t get the brunch Paraguayan. French toast with an insane amount of sugar in huge chunks feels like I’m eating a jawbreaker chunks. The bread was really good and the egg coating was nice and light but the insane amount of sugar ruined it. The scrambled eggs were cooked well but the bacon was the saltiest thing I’ve had in a long time. The French fries? Not really sure what those were but they were good if they weren’t French fries. If that was supposed to be a French fry then it was dry and strange. Sadly the espresso also wasn’t good. Always painful to see a 10,000$ commercial espresso machine and a bad shot. Maybe the other items here are good. I’ll try some other stuff and make another review. Service was great. The guy was really trying to do his best and offered to speak in English after he heard my broken Spanish haha. Anyone that’s a foreigner and complaining about prices is an idiot. Everything here is half the price of any equivalent restaurant in North America. edit. Don’t order the Cesar salad. It wasn’t a Cesar salad I don’t know what it was. Also I forgot to mention the atmosphere. Very beautiful place to sit and read. Mate was good. I actually sat here reading for like 7 hours so I would recommend it for that and maybe read reviews for other good dishes. I’d just avoid the Brunch Paraguayan and ensalada César. Go somewhere else in centro if you want a good espresso. I don’t think I’ll go back but I would reccomend going just to say you’ve been there I guess?
Wyndm R — Google review
Generous quantity and great quality food. Nice atmosphere and attentive staff. I recommend!
Jssk — Google review
A beautiful and appealing place that is very stylishly furnished. You can sit outside or inside. The food and drink on offer is very extensive. Unfortunately, the "Cesar salad" was not original. Neither the cheese nor the type of salad. It was still tasty, but didn't deserve the name. My companion had a cheeseburger. To his taste, the salad and sauce were missing. The desserts with the coffee looked very tasty. The sandwiches and coffee are very good. You can also get delicious Parag dishes prepared here. Can highly recommend the café.

Paulista Grill Churrasquería, located just south of the city center, offers an all-you-can-eat experience with 15 cuts of meat and a variety of salad, pasta, and sushi. The cavernous eatery may lack intimacy but compensates with succulent steaks and a wide array of desserts for less than $20. Freshly prepared dishes like lasagna and creamy potato salad are available at the side bars.
Outstanding place to eat! Food is excellent service was on point and very accommodating! They have a large room in the back for groups.

Great service and great food, and for an unbelievable price! We couldn't believe how fast the waiters were coming around with different cuts of meat. We were there very early and midweek, so it was almost empty when we got there. We were afraid we wouldn't get many cuts of meat because it was so quiet, however we were very wrong! And it started to get much busier as we were leaving.
Gavin H — Google review
We had an overall great experience. This restaurant is Rodizio style. The salad bar was a good way to start our lunch, shortly after the meats started coming. We enjoyed the small Picaña and requested it a couple of times. It was to our surprise that desert was included. We tried a couple of them, and they were okay. The staff was super friendly, and there was plenty of food.
Moises G — Google review
Rude and very pushy asking for a tip and then giving me a load of attitude when I politely declined. Here's a tip, please bring the drinks I ordered, not the small ones. And here's another, please don't keep asking me over and over if I'm done. I would've let things go, but now I'm offended and won't be back after the poor and rude service.

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. I was looking forward to a Brazilian style churroscaria and this place was unfortunately not that great. Many of the dishes found in a typical Brazilian churrascaria like salpicao and palm hearts were not available. We were ignored most of the time. The wait for drinks was unbelievably slow as well as for any meat service. Service was so bad that when the waiter after making me wait for over 30min proposed me to pay a tip I wanted to laugh. Would not come here for dinner if I knew how bad the service is.

Pakuri is a modern Paraguayan restaurant that opened in 2017, founded by Sofia Pfannl and Jose Miguel Burga. The restaurant is constructed from recycled shipping containers and offers a quiet ambiance with a cozy outdoor garden patio. The menu at Pakuri incorporates traditional flavors and techniques of Paraguayan cuisine, often utilizing a specialized Guarani clay oven.
I had to come because I heard this is one of the best restaurants in Asuncion if not Paraguay. Arrived a little earlier than expected the restaurant was still preparing and I waited outside a while before was showed to a table. I didn't really know what to order though the ceviche caught my attention and the staff recommended me to order the beef. I did listen to the recommendation and I ordered and I have to say the meal was really very enjoyable. The food was really good and delicious and I was over greedy as the portion of the ceviche and the beef was quite big. It was a very full dinner. Also ordered a drink but I couldn't finish it as I thought the alcohol level was a little too strong for a cocktail. Nevertheless it was good. Totally had no space for dessert though I wanted to. Definitely a highly recommended place to visit in Asuncion. Also wanted to mention that the staff were friendly and attentive.

Delicious! It was very good, service very good. First place I ate in the city, but I will come back. I think it’s more like a 4.6 instead of the 4.4 it has at the time of my writing this review. The risotto was excellent, but the other thing that looks like a giant scotch egg was delicious (apologies, don’t know the name)

Hidden gem in Asuncion. Modern and surprising architecture with a nice garden flair. Small menu, but just about right for everyone to find something. The food is just melting on the tongue. Staff is super friendly.

Food was good. My wife absolutely loved hers. The value for money was maybe not quite there. They also expect a 10% tip on top of everything, despite having pretty expensive food for Paraguay.

Tasty and delicious food. Wine selection could be better but the offer is good. The place is innovative and the mixture of an industrial style the luxurious of Paraguay’s flora make the plus factor. Service is attentive and the space is ideal por a relaxed dinner.

Dined with the family. I ordered the House Cheesburger, my sister a bowl of noodles, my mother a Risotto and my Stepdad a Steak Eye. It took over an hour. My Cheesburger was phenomenal, amazing. Bread is made in the house, the meat was amazingly cooked and it was filled to the top with it’s extra ingredients. Sadly, only me and my sister enjoyed our food. My stepfather had to give back his plate because it was overcooked and my mom ended up eating part of my Hamburger because the Risotto wasn’t as good and didn’t fill her up. I’d recommend the Cheesburger, but I would just choose just somewhere else to eat if it’s to eat a Hamburger, and even more one that is not as expensive.

Good ambiance, great staff but mediocre food, the appetizers were good, the entrées were OK but the main course was bland, it looked great but it was missing flavor and the meat was overcooked, the chal chal cocktail was great too. It's price isn't worth it.

So, I've been to quite a few restaurants with chef's tasting menus, Cocina Clandestina was awesome. Wonderful service, perfect timing between dishes, lovely atmosphere, prefect execution, and local ingredients and flavors accompanied by a great wine pairing. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone who comes to Asuncion. Thanks for a great experience!

We visited Paraguay in July. Traditional dishes with an intelligent touch. The cocktails with caña were outstanding. The service and the chef attention to us made our night and was one of the best dinners we had in south america. El Pacu was the best my wife had. Next time we return to paraguay we are stopping by there again. The only restaurant we had an American style service table. Muchas gracias por la buena atención, la deliciosa comida y los tragos que nunca me voy a olvidar. Julio, 11 2019

Restaurant
Bar San Roque, established in 1900, is the oldest restaurant in Asuncion and renowned for its top-notch food, friendly service, and reasonable prices. The cozy ambiance with a wood-paneled bar counter and olive green walls adds to its charm as a family-run dining spot. Locals and tourists alike flock to this popular eatery known for its generous portions of traditional meat-based dishes like puchero (boiled beef).
I dined here on my trip to ASU as I heard that this was a landmark establishment and was walking distance from my hotel. When I arrived the restaurant was half full but by the time I left it was pretty full. The attendant let me decide where to sit. I had a tasty and very large portion of meat dish and it was delicious. With the main course and two glasses of wine, my bill was fairly reasonable. I will be back for sure.
San F — Google review
The best restaurant in the worst neighborhood of Asuncion. This is one of the few areas in the city where, especially at night doesn't feel great to go walking (although it is still completely safe), but as soon as you enter the San Roque - very much a restaurant rather than a bar, as the name otherwise suggests - you leave the city and the 2020s behind. Both the atmosphere, the decor and the menu feel like you jumped back in time to the 1970s or 1980s. The style is incredibly outdate, to the point of being endearing, but the place is very well kept and popular. The menu is pretty extensive, usually a bad sign, but if you read with care you'll notice it is actually a few ingredients in many different preparations, which is much better. Classic recipes include the ones that remained popular (breaded steaks, filet mignon, roast chicken) and the ones that have been largely forgotten and are now hard to find anywhere else (mostly offals). Portions are generous, food is impeccably prepared and very tasty, prices still very honest in spite of the growing popularity of this historic restaurant that opened its doors125 years ago (in the year 1900). What's not to like? Recommended!

Super cute place with delicious food. Charming atmosphere in an old building. Weight staff was super friendly, although not always attentive or fast. Cazuela surubi and chipa guaso were amazing
Adam H — Google review
Terrible service and tasteless food. Save you the trip. Meat was not tender and was chewy and that was a tasteless mandioca, red sauce on gnocchi tested like water with ketchup. Sopa paraguaya was TERRIBLE to the point I had to spitted out. Cesar salad and milanesa were ok. Service needs to improve as our waiter was in a bad mood and did not want to answer our questions and take the time to explain what everything was. Do not come!
Katerin T — Google review
Nice place to try empanadas, but just about that. The food is below average, the place is so old (I get it, they try to make it look like in the old days, but that doesn’t justify the dirt in this place), horrible decoration, and it’s not so cozy. The waiters are really friendly tho.

I recently visited Bar San Roque and had a fantastic experience. The hamburger was simple, but really delicious. The apple juice was freshly made from real apples, which was a nice touch. The restaurant was spacious and one of the oldest in the city, so it had a lot of character. I would highly recommend trying out their surubí, as it was one of the best dishes I've had in a long time.

Taberna Española is a traditional Spanish tasca with rustic-baroque decor, offering a taste of typical Spanish dishes. The restaurant is known for its marvelous Valencian paella and an extensive collection of wines from Spain, Argentina, and Chile. The walls are adorned with proverbs and quotations, creating a welcoming atmosphere. Since its opening in 1985, Taberna Española has gained popularity, especially for its annual giant paella event that feeds 800 people during a charity project.
If you are looking for a a cultural food experience in Asuncion, this is a must try. The service is top notch and the food is delicious. Just ring the cow bell above the table to call your waiter. Take in the ambiance and history of the place as you wait for the food. There is very little English spoken here and the menus are in Spanish. I suggest trying some of the appetizers. They are really good and you can get combinations of tasty food to get an idea of what you may want for your main course. They also have a variety of delicious desserts. This is a great find a little off the beaten path.
Brian J — Google review
We enjoyed our lunch here. We walked the very short walk from the center of town, the neighborhood is not beautiful but okay and felt safe enough during the day. We had a jug of nice basic Sangria, good bread, refreshing non-spicy gazpacho, and the Gran Paella which looked great (see photos) and was pretty good. We have very high expectations for food and while we enjoyed the paella, must say I’ve had much better, more tasty and more flavorful paella in other countries. To be fair, Asuncion is far from the sea so I suspect the seafood was right out of the sea in other places, being so far from the sea I should say the paella here was pretty good given that. The service was okay here, we did have a snafu when the check came, there was a charge for extra prawns (shrimp) in the paella, which we did not request, however the waiter was speaking a bunch of Spanish rapidly and maybe he thought we were agreeing to extra shrimp ??? He rapidly and without hesitation struck the extra shrimp from the bill with a smile, by the way the quantity of shrimp we got in the “Gran” paella looked normal to us for something labelled “Gran” but apparently one only gets a couple shrimp if you don’t order extra? That made us feel a little weird as we don’t really know if they hope people won’t check their bill for extras or whether we nodded our head to something by accident, unclear. Anyways the waiter was nice about it. The decor here is super fun, loved the “free no-WiFi zone” sign and the bell you ring to call the waiter (see video). Glad we experienced this place, it’s almost 5 star but not quite in our view.

Everyone here is attentive (they even received my friends and me 20 minutes prior to their opening). The atmosphere is great, the notes on the walls are amazing and are an amazing point of this restaurant. Will return once more for sure.

Food is usually outstanding (some days the quality is lower thus "usually"). Though going in a couple is not bad, going in grups is significantly better and cheaper; the attention also improves for groups mainly because the waiters become friendlier. If you have the chance to be served by "Pablo" take it! Don't bet on plates other than the paellas.

Restaurant
Maurice de Talleyrand is a high-end restaurant located in Asuncion, known for its excellent food and ideal for business lunches due to its proximity to office towers. The restaurant offers meeting rooms and a great atmosphere on the terrace. The menu features a variety of Paraguayan cuisine items, including delicious fish dishes like Stuffed Surubi. Guests have praised the juicy and tender 'Lomito en salsa de mostaza y brandy' as well as the exceptional service.
I did 2 weeks where truly, as they say, "I tried them all" but I left them last. I'm crazy about squid ink and even though I don't eat a lot of carbs, their pasta was incredible - it almost made the dish look like a "slipper"! There is too much selection of bread and breadsticks which, if you eat them all, will kill your appetite. The barman was fantastic: one of the best cocktails tasted in Paraguay. The refined location, the quality of the people around, the very attentive service justify the prices (perhaps high for locals). Surely as an expat you can't leave it behind, I'll be back to try something else (the surubi?!)
Piè — Google review
It is a posh small restaurant with a great menu. No many vegetarian options and none vegan. The ambiance is quiet and great for a business lunch. Does not have a kids menu.
Cintia P — Google review
Undoubtedly one of the finest fine dining options in Asuncion. What sets it apart from other high end restaurants in town is the very good offer (and quality) of fish and seafood dishes. You can appreciate the quality of ingredients and the impeccable preparation, a welcome change in a Country that is mostly focused on its excellent meat (which of course is also available and of high quality at Maurice de Talleyrand). The restaurant is locally expensive to very expensive, but still absolutely affordable if compared to similar establishments in Europe or North America, and absolutely worth its price. Service is impeccable, a bit more formal than usual in Paraguay (absolutely appropriate for this kind of restaurant) and very attentive. The wine list is not particularly extensive, but nothing to fret about and what's on offer is of good quality and at appropriate prices. Do not be fooled by the fact that this restaurant is technically inside a shopping mall: it is a classy ambience and the nicest restaurant option, in my opinion, in one of the two fanciest malls of Asuncion (nothing to do with a food court: it is inside a restaurant patio-terrace) with both inside and al fresco dining options.

Average food and drinks, comparably expensive for the area. Starting with the drinks, I went for a lemonade, which tasted super artificial. The octopus had a good consistency, but in combination with the sides, it didn’t work out very well, even though it was better than the main meal. As their T-Bone steak was out, I went for a tomahawk instead, which looks really impressive once I got it. Unfortunately only the looks have been good: 1. I ordered it medium raw and I got a super raw one instead. 2. The meat wasn’t seasoned in any way 3. The sides (potato starch) contained pork, even though it wasn’t mentioned on the menu so it was useless in my case and I didn’t got an alternative either. The staff was nice.

First of all, excellent service. Ambiance was also on point. But in their very extensive menu could not find one single vegan option. Ended up going vegetarian for the night with the spinach gnocchi in truffle sauce. It was, just okay. Almost didn’t taste any truffle in it.

The restaurant is named after Charles-Maurice de Talleyrand-Perigord, a renowned French diplomat known for his hosting and gourmet skills. Initially specializing in French cuisine, Talleyrand has since expanded to offer international fusion dishes using local ingredients.
We loved everything about this restaurant: the food, the service, the atmosphere… our waiter, Ronald was very sweet and professional 😊

I was in the DelSol shopping mall and came across this somewhat fancy looking restaurant. I looked at the menu that was posted outside and I decided to try it out. Well I found the waiter a bit snobbish and he looked over his lady boss who told me there is no table for one person but I can sit at the bar facing the mall. Ok fine but here is a tip - if you only serve with prior reservations then DO NOT POST the menu outside the restaurant! The food was good for the price and wine was also reasonable. However I found the waiters snobbish and lacking customer service skills. And no I wasn’t dressed inappropriately- I was in pants and a blazer with dress shoes. Would I be back? No but it was worth for being one and done. For the chicken dish in the pic + 2 glasses of white wine + water, my bill was PYG 220,000 about $29 USD.

Stopped by at Talleyrand at the Shopping del Sol mall- the food was good, but the service was excellent. We ordered a duck a l'orange and a steak. The duck breast was a bit dry but the leg was good. The steak was medium rare to medium and nice and juicy. Could have used a bit of seasoning but very good. We also ordered a limoncello spritz which was boozy. Definitely will go back at some point in time. The service was attentive, friendly and excellent.

Price quality ratio is not ideal. Food is good, bit I have never gotten my proteins vooked to the point I asked. There is a tendency to overcook everything. My experience with desserts is that they tend to have been longer than would be ideal in storage in the fridge. The main dining room is nice but not big and the ceiling is slightly low for my liking.

This restaurant has a lot of good things going for it: a fun relaxed atmosphere with both an air-conditioned interior and outside tables in a quiet cul-de-sac, attentive and kind service, excellent artisanal craft beers on tap, generous portions and very honest prices. Not five stars just because the pizza they make, while not unpleasant at all is a bit "weird": it only has a hint of tomato sauce under a very generous amount of cheese and the dough is incredibly moist, apparently not very leavened and it is the kind of pizza that is impossible to eat with your hands as the slice does not support the weight of the cheese and toppings. So, it is a bit weird, but not unpleasant and the one with vegetables came with tons of grilled vegetables (strangely some pieces of each vegetable were very grilled and some raw). Overall a nice place where to spend time with friends over beers and maybe also dine (it is open only at night and does not offer lunch service) at very honest prices in a very (locally) expensive neighborhood of Asunción.

Nestled in the heart of Asuncion, 'Lo de Osvaldo' is a traditional Paraguayan steakhouse that perfectly marries the love for soccer with an exceptional dining experience. Named after Osvaldo Dominguez Dibb, a notable figure in local soccer history, this eatery attracts both meat aficionados and sports fans alike.
We got the lomito and costilla. Both were exceptionally delicious. The lomito was one of the best steaks I ever ate. Hope it wasn't just luck :) I also like the fact they serve the meat in hot metals plates to keep it warm and juicy. I would definitely want to come back and try other options here. The chimichurri sauces were also great and added a lot of flavor, and overall, the prices are not as high as some other high end restaurants, so I feel we got a great value for money

The only good thing was the bottle of water and the beer, everything else was pathetic. Came here looking to have a great experience and food but everything was the opposite. They mess up my ribeye twice, ask for a medium, and come WELL done. The server asked me if I wanted a new one, which is obvious, brought another almost rare I had to leave it on the hot plate/pan they bring you the steak and literally finished cooking myself. Wife asked for rib medium well, but they came super well done. I've been in many steakhouses around the world I have never had to add sauce to my ribeyes on this one I had to, it barely tasted and it was so dry. I've been to this restaurant at least five times and I will not go again! We had a reservation shortly after the restaurant open, and the place was empty, yet we had to wait about 6 minutes for a table. The service was absolutely terrible. There were very few diners and tons of staff members just standing around talking to each other and ignoring us. We ordered rare steaks but they arrived to the table well done and tasting like shoe leather. I didn't even bother eating at that point. Usually the male colleagues that I travel with like this restaurant, but this time we all agreed never to come back. Save yourself from an unpleasant evening and go to La Cabrera or any of the dozens of steakhouses nearby which have the same prices with significantly better food and service. There is never an excuse for service this bad or food so grossly overcooked.

Restaurante Su is a top choice among the 10 selected restaurants, offering a high-quality Korean culinary experience. Chef Su Yun Jeoung has won over diners seeking authentic Korean cuisine since the restaurant's humble beginnings on Avenida Peru. Now located at Guido Spano 1712, Restaurante Su continues to provide a truly exceptional dining experience. Visitors can expect an array of flavorful dishes, including the spiciest options available and delectable homemade Korean Banchan.
We visited Restaurante Su during our short stay in Paraguay. We had such an amazing experience that we had to go back within the same week with our family! We wanted to introduce korean food for the first time to some of our loved ones, and Su truly delivered. They were so impressed and totally enjoyed the culinary experience! Our favorite dish by far was the pork rips BBQ - heavenly! I was craving Sundubu. It tasted just like the ones we had in Korea. Honestly, every single dish we tried was beautifully presented and very well prepared. Servers were attentive, and the restaurant was beautifully decorated with both korean and paraguayan items. Which we loved! Su Restaurant is a must visit spot if you visit Asunción, Paraguay. Easy to make reservations through WhatsApp messages~ They respond quickly and provide you with a reservation code. Ps: Loved meeting the cats at the restaurant!

A nice Korean restaurant with a some delicious vegan options. Even more if you ask the staff to remove meat and eggs. The food is fresh, flavorful, and worth trying if you want a taste of Korea. Place is also very nice looking.

I came to Paraguay and was told "It's hard to get spicy food here." And while that is mostly true, not so here. I got their spiciest dish and it took me 3 days to eat it over multiple sessions! The noodles were the absolute best noodles I've ever had, very soft and silky. Their Korean Banchan was also some of the best I've had and all seemed home made. The marinsted eggplant, sesame bean sprouts, kimchi, and some sort of marinated and grilled green beans....wow! Authentic and masterful Korean food. Another at the top of my list for Asuncion eateries!

A classy dining room with tables both inside and outside under a glass structure and smartly dressed waiters and a maitre d'hote announces that you're in for some serious dining. Our meals were cooked to perfection, our wine served in good glassware and the staff were professional, attentive, but friendly, so the full experience was perfect from start to finish. There are a good number of excellent wines from neighboring countries available at fair prices, especially since the wines are well stored. Despite this, prices are no higher than in many neighborhood restaurants. We plan to return next time we are in Asuncion.

Koggi is a vibrant fusion restaurant that beautifully marries Korean and Lebanese flavors, originally starting as a humble food truck. While the essence of its food truck roots remains strong, Koggi has evolved to offer an impressive selection of craft beers and an extraordinary cocktail menu. This trendy spot attracts the modern youth of Asuncion, who flock here for unique dishes like bibimbap-style vegetable rice or Turkish-inspired beef and chicken rolls with a delightful Korean twist.
The best place in town! Make sure to check out the main restaurant too. The food is tasty, and the atmosphere is super relaxed with only good vibes. Don’t forget to try HERKEN, the local craft beer—it’s a must!

Amazing restaurant that serves endlessly high-quality a huge variety of meat apart from the salad station that you eat any salad as much as you want , sushi , appetizers and any dessert you can think of. Go there if you want to eat a lot because it is worth it 100%. During peak days make sure to make a reservation via whatsapp. The cost for the rodizio style food is 150.000PYG plus any drinks that someone may order plus the service tip which is usually 10%. A dining experience that any meat lover should not miss.

It’s very good restaurant if you’re going in a group of minimum 3 persons. But not recommended if you are alone, the staffs will not consider you as their customer. But the main thing I enjoyed on that day is they have so many fish options which is very rare in Asuncion. It won’t be similar all days it seems.
Lincy V — Google review
Excellent quality and huge (really) variety of foods. Probably the best buffet I’ve been to in years. Restaurant is super clean, organized, and stylish. There’s a violinist playing some pop and classic songs as well. For the ones who love fish, they’ve also got salmon, surubim, etc. The salad and cheese bar is amazing. There’s so much variety of desserts it’s even hard to find out everything they’ve got. They also have special treatment for people who come on their birthday with balloons, a cake, etc. Price was 180k per person, plus drinks, plus service fee. Kind of expensive, but given the quality it’s at least understandable. Would definitely come back again for special occasions.

Absolutely outstanding experience! O Gaúcho is hands down one of the best restaurants I’ve visited in Asunción. The food was top quality — every cut of meat was perfectly cooked, and the buffet had an incredible variety including salads, sushi, and desserts. I must say, the staff at this restaurant were exceptional. Despite dining solo, they were incredibly attentive and kind throughout my visit. The restaurant itself exudes coziness with its rustic style, cleanliness, and tasteful decor. As for the food, it was superbly prepared, with a diverse selection of wines and delectable desserts to choose from. In terms of pricing, I found it to be quite reasonable, considering the quality of the offerings. My only disappointment stemmed from the additional charge for the "bread and sauces per person" fee (although you didn't ask for it). Typically, this type of appetizer is provided as a courtesy in any restaurant I have ever visited.

Rodízio Churrasquería is a buffet-style restaurant located at Palma 591, Asuncion 1230, Paraguay. It offers Paraguayan and Brazilian barbecue every day with a great selection of meats, salads, and desserts. The restaurant provides two pricing options: all-you-can-eat or pay by weight. The all-you-can-eat option includes postres (desserts) and is available at different prices from Monday to Thursday and Friday to Sunday.
Customer can choose either pay by weight or all you can eat option. If choose all you can eat, a wrist band will be given. Not too many food item choices. Asado some are good but some are not. Overall, fine. Considering it's an old construction but well preserved. Clean, good lighting, the AC... Well, I am a sweaty person, so cannot really judge that. I sweat from entering the place until I finish eating, my group was feeling hot but wasn't big deal, for me was already uncomfortable. Very nice attention, very considerate and carefull. The food are good, very little variety of meat but it was fine. The buffet, the taste and the dessert was ok. You can do "all you can eat" or "pay what you eat"
Diana C — Google review
Really good Paraguaian / Brazilian barbeque. Great selection of meat, salads, posters and what else you could dream of. The meat was grilled to perfection. There are two pricing options: all-you-can-eat for 84.000 PYG (including postres) and 83.999 PYG per kilo (if you only Target one or two plates). I was going for the per kilo option but realized pretty fast that I had to change into the all you can eat option as it was just too good and way too many options which I otherwise would have missed.
Stefan M — Google review
We went here whilst touring the area. We speak limited Spanish, even so the waiter was very very helpful and showed us how to use the restaurant. It is self service with a meat counter. There are 2 options... you can do an ‘all you can eat’ option or a $per kilo option. For ease we chose the first. The prices were affordable @ 97k per person and drinks were cheap. For us the service was great. The language barrier was not an issue and the waiter went out of his way to make sure we understood. He was brilliant. Good food and clean.

Hacienda Las Palomas, also known as TacoVilla, is a top-notch Mexican restaurant in Asuncion. It's highly recommended to make reservations for the weekends when they host Mariachi shows. Phil — Google review
Mexican restaurant that is stylishly and beautifully furnished. There is parking in the courtyard and on the street. The staff is very friendly. Very extensive menu. The cocktails deserve special mention, but the selection of wines and beers is also impressive. Wines and beers are considerable. The Margareta is very tasty. I ordered an interesting sounding pot of beef and chicken. The food was tasty. However, I was surprised that despite the high price, there wasn't a lot of chicken and meat in this pot. The main dish was an avocado. What was disappointing were the tortillas. They were crumbly and dry, making it impossible to roll a roll to eat style. Therefore only three stars. I will certainly give the place another chance because the drinks were extremely tasty and the staff were very friendly.
Gingerfilm L — Google review
An elegant, welcoming spot with lovely traditional table settings, glasses and plates from Mexico as well as interesting art decorating the walls. We thoroughly enjoyed our Beef Fajitas and the Tacos Don Pedro and washed them down with a couple of Clasico Margaritas over ice in classic traditional glasses. OK, two margaritas, they were that good. The cheese quesadilla with black bean puree that is served in place of bread was surprisingly delicious and we fell on it like jackals. Wait staff were attentive, friendly and very professional. Only one mild criticism I had was that the salsas were all very mild, even the Chipotle salsa that was brought when I asked for hotter salsa than the two supplied. Hoeever, the Pico de Gallo was freshly made and tasty, as was the orange blended salsa whose name i forget. However I haven't seen any very spicy food in Paraguay, so there's probably no call for it. Still, my kingdom for a Jalapeño!
Phil M — Google review
Staff is very nice, service attitude is like a high class french restaurant wannabe uptight performance. This kind of service does not match for order tacos or chimichangas. I ordered tacos pastor and also beef and chorizo. The pastor flavor was ok if you compare with Mexico city flavor I will gave them a 5.8 note, tortilla is real korn one, but when they serve it to me was extremely dry. Original tacos tortilla usually is very soft and moist, sometimes even oily depending on the taco style. Other observation is that they put cabbage over the tacos, thats nonsense. They dont have proper salsa for tacos, Mexican tacos is all about a good salsa. They also use too much pineapple. I olso had a salad, may be a bit oversized but for the price is understandable.
Carlos M — Google review
The sangria was ok, but quite sweet. I ordered something called "sábana del angel" (Basically chicken with cheese on top). In the menu it said that it's spicy, but I was a bit disappointed because it wasn't spicy at all, otherwise it was good. They had a great quesadilla as a starter.

The worst part is that my husband ordered fried rice, and it had this bug in it. Luckily, I wasn't hungry, and when I saw it, I didn't eat any more. Luckily, I noticed. My husband didn't complain because we believe places like these never change or improve. I mean, what can change if you tell him his food has weevils or cockroaches? The kitchen must be disgusting for these kinds of bugs to be in the food. It's because the kitchen is the worst. Someone please take care of that place. I don't know any other Peruvian restaurants in Paraguay, and the ones I've been to are always terrible. Anyway, those who like to eat cockroaches should go to a depressing place with high prices. I won't go back even if they pay me.

We love ChaSu Lamen! I really liked pork empanadas and my partner Rollitos primavera, everything is delicious, the attention is amazing and you don't need to reserve a table, it's first come first serve, they also have free parking lot right next to the restaurant! 🙌🏻

I liked the atmosphere, nice restaurant. Food was good . We got a table for four people and I ordered Sushi which was fast , they brought Sushi with soya sauce but without ginger . For the other order we had to wait over an hour and we were with a kid who was already too hungry and getting sleepy because of the long wait . The waitress told us that the food took so long because the order was salmon but we ordered sushi for the kid and that also took over an hour (my Sushi took maybe 15 m), maybe next time they should bring the kids order first . Overall a good place and I will repeat if they improve the waiting time.

Good option in Asuncion. The sashimis were great and the service was also good. I chose a festival with a lot of fried stuff - which I don’t personally like. But the food was great anyway.

The quality was almost same with in Japan. It was very reasonable too. In Germany I paid more but was much less quality and quantity. Inside restaurant was very clean and organized well. The stuffs are very well trained to serve customers,. Thank you very much for all the stuffs who gave me to feel my country.

A longstanding sushi restaurant in Asuncion and still one of our favorites after 7 years here. We have witnessed growing pains and the newest remodel which has brought this humble restaurant on par with the commerical restaurants that are now popping up all over. What has never changed is the quality of the food and service. Best sushi, still, hands down in Asunicion. And now with the new remodel it has a refreshing atmosphere. Love love love.

Mercado 4, also known as Mercado Cuatro locally, is a bustling and expansive market located in Asuncion. Unlike typical tourist markets, Mercado 4 caters to all segments of society, offering a wide range of products from fresh fruits and vegetables to affordable imported goods. The market's vibrant atmosphere resembles an Arab souk with its array of scents and colors.
This place has everything, but easy tot get lost. Definitely mark where you parked. Vendors seemed helpful to point us in the direction of the next thing we were looking for if they didn’t offer it. It was a real shopping adventure.

Good place to find cheap produce and goods of all kinds for reasonable prices. I'd be wary of pickplckets and bring little of value just in case. There are small restaurant stalls on the top floor of one of the buildings that serve local food for very cheap and it's quite good. I'd recommend La Abuela. The caldo de pollo was delicious.

A place where you can buy a variety of goods in quite a few stores and stalls. It is something for someone who is looking for bargains. The atmosphere is friendly and extremely popular, you should definitely test the food that is prepared at individual tables by a wide variety of women. This is pure Latin America.

head to Mercado Cuatro (officially called Mercado Municipal 4) for a hot bowl of pira caldo, a traditional Paraguayan fish soup full of veggies and Paraguayan cheese. Browse the stalls to pick up souvenirs, like a guampo (a cup shaped like a horn) and a bombilla (metal filtered straw), for drinking tereré, a local yerba maté-infused tea.

I love it here. So atmospheric and much less hassle than other such markets across the world. There are different areas for different products and it becomes pretty easy to navigate on your third or fourth trip. Definitely check out the municipal canteen which is very different to anywhere I’ve been before.

La Quesería - Shopping del Sol is a charming spot for a leisurely brunch or lunch, offering a serene atmosphere despite being situated in a mall. The interior and exterior sections provide options for seating, with a long bar featuring a purple color scheme and mirrors adding to the ambiance. The menu boasts an extensive selection of breakfast and lunch items, accompanied by prompt and attentive service.
If you look for a place to have breakfast, brunch or lunch, this is it! It’s perfectly located, in front of a shopping mall. The menu has a wide variety of options, the service is impeccable and you don’t have to wait long for your order. I also love their interior, it’s a beautiful vintage with a lot of greens. Highly recommend this place!

Pretty regrettable English breakfast. You’d think it would be the most filling breakfast on the menu considering the lofty price, but no. You will have to eat again soon afterwards. Service was nice but inattentive. 2.5 stars but rounded down just for the audacity.

Very nice burger with friendly service and good atmosphere. Staff are very friendly but they need to put more staff on as the service was slow despite employees clearly working hard. Also, they are “tacano” with the portion of fries and ketchup and they will charge you more if you ask for more ketchup. For 82,000 PYG I expected more fries and more ketchup. I hope they will resolve this issue as I will not purchase another burger from this establishment until they have resolved it.

Great food and atmosphere. Food takes longer than normal to be served. Restaurant choice of music does not align with its spirit.
Luis J — Google review
Quality has decreased massively over a year. Half of the menu is missing, waiters don’t care enough to bring what you order (and sometimes choose to ignore you). You would think that the increased capacity would bring benefits, but quite the opposite. Ambience is nice, but everything else is terrible. I asked for 3 plates, they didn’t have them… Waiter doesn’t know his own menu, you ask for a gin tonic and he brings a shot of gin and a tonic (technically correct but come on man…)

They have a long menu with lots of choices. I've tried about 5 of their sandwiches and so far all of them were really good. Some are a bit pricy, for example the salmon sandwich is 66000, but it's really delicious and also the portion sizes is quite big. They also have many good vegetarian choices.

Karu is a charming cafe located in the trendy Las Mercedes neighborhood, featuring a verdant patio where visitors can enjoy breakfast, snacks, or light lunches. The menu offers typical Paraguayan dishes with a gastronomic twist, such as the flavorful payagua mascada made with meat or a vegan version incorporating beans and mushrooms. The cafe's specialty sourdough breads are highly sought after, often requiring advance reservations on weekends.
Lovely and delicious independent cafe, bakery, confectionery (they make the best Panettone in the whole Paraguay) and lunch restaurant. The atmosphere and decor are as welcoming and friendly as the staff and upon entering you are greeted by the wonderful smell of freshly baked bread and croissants. The business lunch offer is solid, at an honest prices, with a small menu of nicely prepared dishes. There is ample opportunity to take home all of the store made preparations, from sandwiches, to pizza to bakers' confections (like cakes and pastries) and there are also some sauces (from pesto to hummus) in the fridge, along with cold drinks, yogurts and beers. It is a lovely and tranquil place on a small streets with virtually no traffic, but just a few blocks away from the busy business hearth of Asuncion. Recommended!

Not too many vegan options, but the ones they had were absolutely delicious. Plant based milk for coffee & the best vegan burger I've had in Paraguay so far! The bread makes all the difference and the veggie patty seems like it was made of Yuka, soft on the inside, but crunchy on the outside. Muy bueno 💚

This was a beautiful little cafe set a few blocks off Santa Teresa. Easy to find & just so cute. The pop of green & decor was one thing but the breads were amazing! This review was written in February 2025, OOOOOMMMGGGG, good food & great pastry selection. My beautiful wife found Karu while looking for a bread & coffee shop in Asunción. As visitors from a foreign country we like to try the local coffee & pastry shops. During our two months in Asunción, PY, we have tried and tested a few coffee & bread shops, but they were nothing to write home about. Our visit to Karu changed all that. This restaurant offers a food selection that was fairly decent. Over the years I have tasted hundreds, maybe even thousands of breads and pastries, but Karu has some of the best bakery breads and pastries I have tasted. The glass display counter excels in displaying their delicious selection of bakery goods. You can't go wrong n trying any of their bread or pastry items. If you live in Asunción or plan to visit Karu bakery & coffee shop. You will not be disappointed. We highly recommend a visit to KARU.

The sirloin steak seemed reheated, with stained lettuce, a soft-boiled egg, and cold sautéed vegetables. Overall, we left disappointed. I hope they can improve, because the place has potential... Typical Chinese Asian cuisine often uses a lot of oil. Sushi is quite basic, but the atmosphere is excellent. The restaurant is spacious and inviting, and it’s open until 11 p.m. I visited in December 2024 and spent around 92,000 to 1 kg.

At Bellini, the culinary experience is a delightful journey where you can customize your pasta and sauce, all while watching talented chefs create your dish right before your eyes. Located in Asuncion, this Italian gem is known for its express service and fresh ingredients. Diners rave about their beef lasagna and stuffed pastas, which are crafted with care and bursting with flavor. The chicken ravioli paired with bolognese sauce comes highly recommended as well!

The hotel itself is exclusive, with only 5 rooms, and boasts refined decor throughout its various spaces including a library, meeting room with a cellar, hallways, and a garden with a pool.
Wonderful food in unique setting. Staff were amazing and it is reasonably priced for the quality.

Surprised to find bad food at the restaurant of what used to be a high end hotel. The quality of all the ingredients went wrong within a year. Also the waiters are worse than ever. Waiters treat customers as "chicos" (kids) and keep on saying "dale"treating people without respect, just like in Argentina, plus they forgot important requests and played with their phones a few times making loud noises. This restaurant went totally down hill in just one year. Avoid this place.

Beautiful venue with amazing service. However, there is room for improvement in the kitchen. Despite specifying our preferred cooking points for the proteins, they were overcooked, resulting in a disappointing dining experience. The quality ingredients were not utilized to their full potential. I recommend visiting for drinks and starters, but I advise against ordering main courses. Worst part: when we mentioned that it was overcooked, the server responded that juicy means something different in different countries.

Worst experience at any Hard Rock cafe. There were no smiles or greetings when entering the cafe, and also only about 3-4 other people here (Tuesday night at 20.30). The waiter did not speak english - could be expected from an American chain like this - but i could order with my Spanish. They did not have the mixed grill on the menu, which was my first choice, so i settled for the Ribeye, and asked for it to be medium-rare (1/4). My girlfriend had the Steak salad with blue cheese. When the food arrived, my "Ribeye" was medium-well and quite dry. I was looking at the beef when the waitress came over and asked if everything was okay? I told her as it was, and she just kind of stood looking apologetic. The manager came over and asked again, and i accepted the beef, since i did not want to make a large fuzz about it. The beef was not a ribeye cut, there were no fat rim and the meat was not close to being tender as a ribeye. On the bill it was mentioned as "Cowboy Ribeye" - which it did not say anything about in the menu, and has nothing to do with Ribeye. After my talk with the waitress, my girlfriend saw that the blue cheese in her salad was what looked like 25 grams of string mozarella cheese.. As i was thirsty, i ordered a new soda, which did not arrive untill after i had eaten my beef. I saw the waitress forgot it, and asked the bartender for it like 20 minutes after i had ordered it and gotten my food. A small note is, that there is no free refill either on soda. The service was in general lacking very much. The waitress could not be seen most of the time, she did nothing to ensure our stay was pleasant, rarely did smile and did not ask about our food - except when i pointed my mobile phone light at the beef. There were almost no conversation with the staff in general. Every other Hard Rock cafe i have visited, everything has been good from the moment you enter the door until you leave. This could as well have been a low-end grill restaurant anywhere in Paraguay - did not live up the expectation even remotely.

We attempted to dine-in but had to leave after 1 hour due to receiving nothing -not even water. It took 40 minutes just to have someone take our order and they had neither of the appetizers we wanted. I requested to speak to the manager and he never showed his face. Even after explaining how long we’d been waiting, the waiter didn’t even bring our drinks and instead was running to serve the table behind us, who had come in at least 20 minutes after us. It was incredible. We left. Don’t waste your time and money here.

The food was about the same as other TGIFs around the globe. The prices converted in to USD is about the same as the US also. But, this place seemed to be lacking in character compared to other places. But I think this is because this restaurant is very big and open. (Translated by Google) I've visited Bellini, located on Paseo Carmelitas, several times. This time, I ordered a salad with eight ingredients of my choice, accompanied by a diet soda, which was served with ice and lemon. The salad was well presented, with fresh ingredients, and they also served us a complimentary bread basket with chives, a simple but always pleasant touch. They serve the same pasta, pizza, and salad options, and you can also order à la carte, including other dishes or desserts. The restaurant is spacious, modern, and has plenty of tables, making it ideal for both leisurely lunches and informal get-togethers. It's a great place to go with the family, as the atmosphere is comfortable, relaxed, and suitable for all types of guests. The service was very efficient: the waiters were always attentive and available, making the service quick and pleasant. As an area for improvement, it's worth mentioning that the restaurant doesn't have a ramp, making it difficult to access for people with reduced mobility. Furthermore, the bathroom doesn't seem to be accessible for people with disabilities, an aspect that should be taken into account to offer a more inclusive experience. Therefore, I give it a 3 for ambiance. In short, Bellini offers light and healthy cuisine in a comfortable setting, with good service and a family-friendly atmosphere. A recommended option on Paseo Carmelitas for those seeking quality, speed, and comfort.

The place offers ample space across two floors, allowing guests to enjoy their meals with friends or family in a clean and well-decorated environment. The staff and owners are praised for their kindness and friendliness, adding to the overall positive experience. While the menu may not change frequently, it still provides various options, and the service is considered quite good.
Enjoyed I had to go again because it was delicious. Just under $15 US dollars for three adults with full plates and a glass of natural pineapple juice. It's a cafeteria style restaurant. You're plate is weighed after you fill it. They only serve lunch hours. They close at 4pm I will be going again 😃

One of my favorite lunch spots in downtown Asunción! The food’s always good, the place is buzzing with people, and there’s this fun, chaotic energy—no real order to how you serve yourself, which somehow adds to the charm. It’s affordable, has two floors, and they’ve got super fresh juices. Total gem.
Dani M — Google review
We found this place toward the end of our trip, and if we had discovered it earlier, we would have eaten there again and again! The food was delicious, and it was so cheap! There were lots of choices and many dishes to choose from. It’s an excellent place for lunch!
Jaye K — Google review
Great place. Price is based on what you choose as a protein. 22k gs for chicken. 27k gs for beef. Then just fill up the plates with sides and salad. Line moves quickly. Order drinks while paying.
WorldTraveller — Google review
Quality - price relation is excellent. The menu does not vary much (noticeable if you go weekly) but still provides several options. The service is quite good too. The only relevant disadvantage is that the place is always crowded.
Sergio G — Google review
Good healthy food. I ate for 45,000 in October 2025
Valeria — Google review
The pricing in this restaurant is completely arbitrary. We are visiting Asunción for one month and after four visits here have decided to go elsewhere. Every day is a different price even though we get the same basic meal and portion. Pricing is inconsistent and gives a feeling of us getting tourist price. The greed of the guy at the register cost them us eating their daily for a month and a bad review on here. They really need to charge more consistently.
Joe S — Google review
A very nice place to eat in a buffet style and at a very good price. I will come back daily to eat 👏

Chinese takeaway
Shangri-La is a popular Asian restaurant in Asuncion that serves up delicious, authentic Chinese food. The restaurant has spacious and airy surroundings with comfortable seating, making it the perfect place to enjoy a meal with friends. The menu features a variety of tempting dishes such as spring rolls, wonton soup, and Mongolian grill, all of which are sure to please even the most discerning palate.
We went there at lunch on weekday. Buffet was only option in lunch time. It was good tasting Chinese and Japanese foods. My kid who is 9 years old enjoyed a lot because there were many his favorite foods.
Papipupenta — Google review
Every dish here is really good. Don't confuse this location with their mall locations (which are absolutely horrible, it's almost a cruel joke)

Very nice selection of oriental dishes.

This is one of my favorite places in Asuncion. Some of the waiters have worked here for over 20 years and are amazing. The service is top-notch. As far as Chinese restaurants go, this is the best one here.
J P — Google review
Food is excellent as it has always been. Great environment, clean, fresh. We ordered a la carte, prices are affordable. Portions are big, enough to share one dish between two people. Attention is excellent from the moment one arrives. Big thanks to Mr. Areco, our waiter, for his excellency, humor, warmth, and professionalism!!!
Sissi J — Google review
A favorite in Asunción. Their lunch buffet is excellent, though the items vary very little from day to day. There's also a Mongolian barbecue available, included in the buffet price. A la carte is available in the evenings, and if anything it's better than the buffet.
Andy B — Google review
Favorite Chinese place in Asuncion. They open early 7pm which works for us. I always order the General Tso's and try something new. It is clean, friendly and delicious. I highly recommend the place.
Leslie H — Google review
This is a very nice Chinese restaurant located in the vicinity of Shopping del Sol and Shopping Paseo Galeria. The restaurant is clean and well decorated; the food itself used to be substandard but has improved greatly over the last two years. I dont know if this is due to new management or staff in the kitchen, but the food now is delicious. They offer various dishes as well as a buffet option for those of us who like to eat more than we should!

Restaurant
Maru 79 KOREAN CUISINE is a standout restaurant in Asuncion, offering an exceptional dining experience. The attentive service sets it apart, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure a memorable visit. The authentic Korean cuisine, including delectable barbecue and fried chicken, is a definite highlight. Despite being relatively empty at times, the overall atmosphere adds to the charm of this establishment.
I went with my wife and had an excellent dinner. Super attentive staff and delicious food. Best Korean restaurant we even been in Paraguay.
Rodrigo M — Google review
I’ve tried much better Korean food. This place is very old fashion and neglected, very uncomfortable chairs and table. Food isn’t good quality 😕I was sitting in Patio where most people (families) order parrilla; I had wok and it was ok not more. Stuff are friendly and helpful but not profesional waiters.
Marco V — Google review
Waiters needs to be more trained, the portion of the foods are WAY less then anothers k-restaurants, and are so miserly with the complementary side foods Responding: At no point did I have a disdainful attitude towards your staff. We ordered three main courses, so if they were to sit at three different tables, there would inevitably need to be sides for each one. However, you preferred to provide only one side and harass the customer by calling them poor or rude. Everyone has the right to express themselves freely. It seems that you cannot handle the truth or simply do not know how to deal with criticism.

Korean food close to Korea. Neat with BBQ experience on the table. Don't know about Korean food, no worries they will guide you.
Jose K — Google review
Excelente service, great food, fair price, and the owner is very nice. Yapchae (swe$t potatoes noodles) is good, fried sweet potatoes is good, fried mandu (dumplings) is good, and for the BBQ I recommend spicy pork (MEUN DWEYI GALBI) and marinade beef (YUMULOK)
Diana C — Google review
We were early, the first in the restaurant. So we were the focus of attention. The waiter actually cooked our food for us rather than having to do it ourselves per normal. Great food, above and beyond service and atmosphere only 4 stars because the place was otherwise empty.
John H — Google review
The staff and services were all excellent. I assume was the owner that came to see how we were doing with the grilling and she gave us some advices for better taste and experience. The serving size could be a little bit larger tho. Other than than, an excellent place.

Health food restaurant
Lá Nutry Healthy Food is a cozy restaurant offering a variety of delicious and healthy meals. The menu features freshly cooked dishes with quality ingredients, catering to those with dietary restrictions such as celiac disease, offering gluten-free and lactose-free options. Additionally, they sell frozen meals for take-home convenience. The restaurant provides good service and tasty products to enjoy at home. Despite the high prices, the food is worth it. However, the small parking lot may pose a challenge for visitors.
Gem of a place! Food was delicious, wait staff very friendly and restaurant was very clean and cozy. It is hard to find a large variety of freshly cooked meals with quality ingredients when you have a severe celiac disease, so when you eat out you often have to settle eating lots of gluten free carbs, in form of empanadas, pizza, etc. These place was refreshingly healthy; all gluten free and lots of lactose free dishes as well. Menu has plenty of fish, seafood, salads, soups, pasta dishes and everything in between. Highly recommended.

Really awesome place to eat. Sometimes highly rated restaurants can be disappointing but the food here was very tasty, and the waiters were polite, attentive and friendly. I had salmon with mashed potato and my partner had lemon chicken with mashed potato. Both delicious.

Small service, not very well coordinated personel. They know people like them but they dont updgrade their service in the same level.

Very lovely and super Delicious restaurant. I don’t really speak spanisch and the waiter (George) was so kind. I didn’t expect that kindness. Food was very good either. The waiter also helped me with the menu and gave some recommendations which were all really good. Totally can recommend that restaurant.
Larissa — Google review
A restaurant located on the main road which calls itself a healthy restaurant in Asuncion. Ambience is bright but sterile. Food alright, nothing fancy and not really healthy. A "salad bowl" which is 75.000PYG or a wrap which is 65.000PYG doesn't meet the value at all. These are NYC prices and better to go to Cafe de Aca or Karu. There you find wraps, bowls (bigger bowls even) between 30.000 and 40.000PYG. Now I understand why we found easily a place at 12.30, there is always a hook when something seems strange.... Additional I am annoyed about myself that I haven't checked the prices before we have ordered. But Asuncion has usually more or less the same prices allover the city, except LaNutry. Staff is friendly and tries its best, that's why i have to give 2 stars instead of one.
