This is northeast Brazil in the summer (32ºC / 90ºF) and the lobby is as hot as it could be. This is supposed to be a 4-star hotel.
The hotel as a whole is dated, very far from its prime 10 years ago. It requires serious renovation work to come back to life again; given how tightly they’re operating it, I doubt this will happen anytime soon. In the meantime, they sell a false, past image that quickly vanishes the second you enter the hotel.
The service team committed a serious mistake that made me rate it the lowest. I requested relocation to a new room (another drama). The told me to wait for a day; in the interim, they assigned my room to someone else and actually provided room keys to them with our things still inside and without telling us beforehand! This is the 4-star hotel they sell. It caused a lot of headache to get a new room. Awful experience.

The house is quite nice and there's a rooftop unfortunately I had an issue with the girl managing the hostel, which kind of ruined it for me. I had a late flight on checkout day, so asked if I could leave my luggage (all by WhatsApp as she stays in her room and only communicates with guests that way). She said there would be a charge of 10R$. It was the first time I got charged for keeping the luggage but ok, I asked where I could leave my stuff and she said in the dorm where I was. I thought I was very clear saying I would be there until evening waiting around. Then later she messaged me saying she would charge me the whole night fare for using the kitchen and room. I was so pissed off that I rushed back to the hostel, took my stuff and left. I've never seen a hostel not letting people use common areas while storing the luggage, but maybe I was lucky until then. The location is really good and accessible, saw a small cockroach on the first day but my roommate said nothing like that had happened on the entire week she had been there so I guess it was a one time event. Also, the place was very clean overall, so I tend to believe that roach problems won't happen often. The staff is really nice and helpful.
