Points of Interest & Landmarks
Nestled just outside Taichung, Rainbow Village is a delightful explosion of color and creativity that captivates visitors of all ages. Once a humble veterans' village constructed to house Chinese soldiers, this charming locale has transformed into an artistic haven thanks to the remarkable efforts of Mr. Huang, one of its last residents. His vibrant murals adorn the walls and streets, showcasing whimsical depictions of animals, dolls, airplanes, and even beloved manga characters.
A beautiful little village full of Taiwan’s history. You can really feel the vibe once you’re there. Whether you stay for 5 minutes or 30, it all depends on your mood and interest. Don’t forget to stop by the lady selling souvenirs at the entrance—her prices are very local and fair! It’s free to enter though. Easy to get here by bus from the city.
JRM D — Google review
Rainbow Village is a tiny spot with a big reputation. I went in with moderate expectations and I think that helped. The entire place is really just a small cluster of brightly painted houses, transformed by the cheerful hand of a former soldier known as Grandpa Rainbow. The colors are vibrant, and the folk-style drawings covering every inch of wall and ground make it feel playful and unique. That said, it’s a very quick stop you can walk through it in about 10 minutes. It’s photogenic, no doubt, and has a sort of whimsical charm, especially if you catch it when it’s not crowded. If you’re nearby or passing through, it’s a fun little detour. But if you’re coming from far just for this, it might feel underwhelming unless paired with other activities. It’s more about the spirit and story than the scale. Good for a few colorful photos and a gentle reminder of how a simple artistic gesture can put a place on the map.
Antonella S — Google review
Love the colourful village, really brighten up the visit. Can be a bit hot sometimes and no much space to rest. Visitors all busy taking Instagramable photos. There's also a talented busker performing, and some activities to keep young kids occupied. There are a lot of interesting artwork and we spent almost 2 hours there, although the place is actually quite small and the visit can be completed in less than 30mins for some.
CF C — Google review
Is such a cheerful little spot, full of colors, art, and stories behind every wall. It’s a bit warm walking around, but the bright murals and cute photo corners totally make up for it. Just take it slow, grab a cold drink nearby, and enjoy the happy vibes! 🌈
Cheiro T — Google review
It's a small area where all the houses and walls were painted with colourful drawings. It's free for admission. There're quite some people as it's a Saturday morning. But it's still not too crowded. You can find space to take pictures easily.
Clare L — Google review
Rainbow village is a must-see for its incredible backstory and unique visual appeal, but manage your expectations regarding its size. It's a short, colorful stop that is best enjoyed when combined with other taichung attractions like Moment Cafe and Wanggaoliao Viewpoint. #gorgeousventure
Ms. P — Google review
The beautiful colors of rainbow village adapts to the mood of people visiting here. I admit I got tired traveling, but seeing these magnificent murals gave me a rewarding feeling that I can still enjoy my vacation no matter how tired I am
Keisuraaa 1 — Google review
Really enjoyed coming to this place, although it is quite a long bus ride away from north district and it is maybe smaller than one would think. I think there's a lot of art to admire, you can also walk along one of the walls to try and find your Chinese zodiac sign which is pretty cool. Additionally, there's a wall where you can leave a special message and hang it there. I enjoyed that concept of leaving something for others to see. If you go, plan in advance while considering bus routes, weather, and while a 711 is somewhat near (north) make sure to bring WATER!

Night market
Feng Chia Night Market, also known as Wenhua Night Market, is Taichung's largest and most popular night market. Established in 1963, it offers a bustling atmosphere with a variety of vendors selling food, clothing, accessories, and other goods. The market has expanded to include shops along Wen-hua street, Fengjia street, Fushin road, Xian street and more.
The food was delicious & cheap. Kiddos were enjoying the food too much, they didn't complain at all about eating while standing up the whole time. There were too many options to choose from. Although there was a language barrier, we managed just fine to order and purchase all the food.
Karina A — Google review
Tried quite a few things there, quite a variety. Not much game stalls. Most memorable from this night market is the chicken thigh roll that no one was queuing! Sausage frm the famous 大肠包小肠stall was also yummy! Pepper bun was nt bad only despite long queue.. their grape vinegar was nice and refreshing though. Sweet potato balls was ok only too, despite another long queue stall. Master of tea at the start of night market is very good.
Juan J — Google review
First visit, not overly crowded and can shop to your heart content. Things that I feel worth trying out were the fried milk stall (crispy on the outside but soft like tauhu milk filling inside). Huang ji sesame oil chicken soup, the soup was superb but too bad no 🍚 option. Another shop which tickle my tastebud was china street food dried vegetable pancake. Thin slice of pancake stuffed with "mui choy" crispy and savoury.
Lee C — Google review
This is such a well-rounded night market ,it has everything from food stalls, hole in the wall restaurants to clothing/ shoe shops, plus a few carnival and claw machine arcades. I’d recommend going earlier; we arrived around 6 p.m. and didn’t have enough time to see it all. Although it’s busy, the pathway is wider than most, making it easier to move around somewhat lol. There’s even a garbage bag near the front of the market (a rare find, haha). The washroom is located in a nearby plaza — just follow the signs downstairs — but do bring your own tissue paper. I also suggest exploring the area around the night market, as there are plenty of shops and restaurants. We took the HSR to Taichung Station and then an Uber, which took about 25 minutes. Don’t forget to bring cash!
Happy L — Google review
There are tons of famous local snacks around, and one of my favorites is the takoyaki! The grilled chicken chop takes about 18 minutes to cook but honestly tastes pretty average. The Taiwanese sausage wrap (big sausage wrapped around a small one) was super filling, not particularly special in flavor, but I just had to try it since it’s such a classic. The Matsusaka pork was tender and delicious, and the sweet potato balls were so addictive I couldn’t stop popping them one after another! There were still so many yummy things I wanted to try, but my stomach just gave up too soon.
Cheiro T — Google review
Fengchia Night Market in Taichung was super fun! There were so many different foods and snacks to try — everything looked and smelled amazing. It was a bit far from our hotel near Taichung Train Station, and we got a little lost trying to figure out the bus, so we just took an Uber in the end. But honestly, it was totally worth it. Great vibes, great food, and a really fun night overall! ✨
Natasha — Google review
Favourite night market in Taiwan. A wide variety of food and cheap and a lot of things to see also. No need to worry about dirty street as there are rubbish bags along the street which is great improvement against my past experience traveling to Taiwan (back then I need to carry my oily dirty plastic bag with my food waste around since hard to find rubbish bin). Cartain area smells a bit not generally is good.

Definitely a must-see! Amazing food, engaging vendors, fun time all around! Bring cash. But everything is very affordable!

Nestled amidst the modern skyline of Taichung, the National Taichung Theater is a stunning architectural marvel that captivates visitors with its unique design and vibrant atmosphere. This contemporary venue, crafted by renowned architect Toyo Ito in collaboration with artist Cecil Balmond, features flowing concrete walls that create an enchanting interior reminiscent of a giant egg. Inside, you'll discover diverse performance spaces hosting an array of shows, alongside art exhibitions and cozy bookstores.
I had a great experience at the National Taichung Theater. The architecture is stunning and very modern—just walking around inside felt like being in a work of art. Even without watching a show, it was worth the visit for the design alone. Definitely a must-see in Taichung!
Nestor C — Google review
Beautiful architecture to explore even if you’re not coming to watch a concert. The shops on the ground floor sell is something to check out if you want to buy a souvenir. Also, there’s a cafe and observation deck on the top floor which has great views of the city.

Beautiful building and the sky garden was especially lovely to visit in the afternoon. In a very nice part of town. I ak glad to have visited here and hope to return to catch a show sometime in the near future

Great design and good looking architecture. One of the landmarks and tourist attractions in Taichung. We spent some time inside and at the top, admiring the beauty and elegance of the building.
Patrick X — Google review
I went here for the cafe and it had more to offer than I expected. The coffee was so good. The theater has a art and craft space (I think, IDK how they call it) but they have many high quality wooden miniatures, felt animals, handmade souviners for quite affordable prices. But if you don't drink coffe or buy anything, you can still vosit for free

Enjoyed the artwork here. Staff is super friendly and accommodating. My friends and specially my daughter enjoyed roaming around and taking pictures.

Nestled in the heart of Taichung, Taichung Park stands as the city's oldest urban oasis, inviting visitors to unwind amidst its lush greenery. This expansive park features a picturesque manmade lake that mirrors the beauty of Sun Moon Lake, offering stunning views—especially enchanting at night when illuminated. As you stroll along its pathways, you'll encounter tennis courts and playgrounds perfect for families seeking leisure activities.
One of the most beautiful parks in Taichung, it is quite spacious with a lake in the center and various facilities such as restrooms and a playground. There is also a bridge 👍🏻 There are quite a lot of animals here, such as birds, squirrels, and fish 🐹🐦🪿🐶🐱🐟 It is very child-friendly and accessible for people in wheelchairs. One of the recreational spots I highly recommend 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Aldi S — Google review
A great park in the heart of the city, within walking distance from Taichung Main Train Station. There are various walkways, making it enjoyable to roam freely among the trees, near the lake, among rest areas and numerous artworks. It feels full of hidden spots and shady areas to relax or hide. You can also easily spot squirrels, which kids will love. The park has clean toilets, and it's also a pleasant place for pet owners to take a walk.

It is a beautiful place to relax, in the early morning it is good, cool weather , The locals are performing their exercise, plenty of life in the park. Beautiful trees and pieces of nature in the busy city of taichung, The park dates back from 1903 and got Japanese influence. Awesome place and kept clean and serene.

Taichung Park is a beautiful urban oasis that blends natural charm with cultural significance. Its serene lake, arched bridges, and lush greenery make it an ideal spot for relaxation or a leisurely stroll. The historic pavilion adds a touch of elegance and a glimpse into Taichung’s heritage. Well-maintained paths and peaceful surroundings make it family-friendly and perfect for photography. A visit here provides a refreshing escape from the bustling city.

Safe green haven in the frenzy city. Lovely place to chill and relax, possibly tasting some snacks, delicious street food / fried chicken whatever, Taichung has wide choice. Just sit in the shade, feed the birds, look the squirrels, enjoy the lake, read a book, to recover your mood

There are also plenty of cafés and restaurants nearby, making it easy to grab a coffee and soak in the atmosphere.

A Taichung local introduced me to this place. It's such a nice place to hangout and take a leisure walk with your friends and family. There are so many good eateries near this area, so you can also grab a meal together and relax. The michelin star ice cream place "MINIMAL" is near this place. This area is apparently called "Qinmei 勤美" and locals love this place. This walkway stretches all the way from the National Museum of Natural Science to the Taichung Civic Square. During weekends, there are lots of pop-up stores and local vendors selling various things from snacks to cute handmade things. Also, busking and other public outdoor activities are enjoyed here. I took a late-night walk here along with my friend, after a rainy day and the mood was so great :)

Quite amused to see this famous World of Warcraft character in the middle of a peaceful park with elderly doing tai chi. Finishing of statue is good, well made and didn’t see much sign of wear & tear. Nice to clock in some steps around this park while looking at locals with their kids playing and exercising

Flower market
Zhongshe Flower Market in Taichung is a must-visit destination for flower enthusiasts and photography lovers. Situated just 45 minutes away from the city center, this expansive 6-hectare market boasts a stunning array of colorful blooms that enchant visitors throughout the year. The landscaped garden beds showcase an impressive variety of vibrant flowers, making it an ideal place for leisurely strolls and photo opportunities.
We reached the flower garden from Taichung via a local train then got off at Taian station and transfer via Taxi. The ticket is reasonable, we paid for the tour only. The flowers are beautiful, colorful and maintained. Adding to the beauty is the mountain that can be seen in the background. The place is ideal for family and friends. We went early to avoid crowd and flux of tourist in the afternoon. Nice tourist destination.
Ana G — Google review
It was rainy when we visited Zongshe Flower Garden, so we didn’t get to fully enjoy the scenery. Still, the place is beautiful and worth visiting on a clear day. We tried their noodles and they were surprisingly delicious—definitely a must-try! I hope the staff can work on being a bit more conversational with tourists, especially those who don’t speak Mandarin. Adding pictures to the menu would be a big help too, so visitors can easily understand what’s available.
Juliet G — Google review
I personally wouldn’t recommend the grill food + flower viewing combo set for travelers, since the food is just average and nothing worth mentioning. Instead, we got a separate flower viewing ticket and it was really worth it. The sight of so many flowers blooming together was refreshing and uplifting. I’d recommend tourists come here for the photos, a relaxing stroll, and the rejuvenating vibe.
Cheiro T — Google review
A flower paradise in Taichung! Perfect for photos and a relaxing stroll through colorful blooms. Don’t forget sunscreen - best to visit in the morning or afternoon when it’s not too sunny!
Nestlie G — Google review
We took a train to go here (51 NTD fare). The problem with going on a train is that the bus is inconsistent with the schedule on Tai'an Station station. From this place going back to the train station, we waited for the bus to arrive at posted schedule but no bus arrived. So we took an Uber and paid 115 NTD 😭 The place itself is not that big. You can find rows of lavander flowers. Flower are arrange for pleasing appearance. For us it is not worthy to visit this place if you are on a DIY tour. you may skip this place because of the bus sched inconsistency thus ruining your itinirary schedule. eat before you go here. very few restaurant on this area.
John J — Google review
Such a beautiful place. Colorful flowers and a lot of photo spots. Entire garden is equipped with photo ops in between flowers. It also got many shops inside for food, dessert and drinks. Kids entertainment also available
Karthigadevi J — Google review
A few hectares of land planted with great variety of flower at the garden of TaiChung, there are quite numbers of spots for selfie, breeze with flower scenes
CP — Google review
The flower garden is a stunning and well-maintained place filled with vibrant colors and fresh fragrances. The variety of flowers creates a breathtaking view. The pathways are clean, and the atmosphere is peaceful, making it a perfect spot for relaxation or photography. The garden’s layout is thoughtfully designed, allowing visitors to explore different floral arrangements with ease. Beautiful garden ornaments are scattered throughout, adding charm to the scenery. We took the train to get there, and a 20-minute walk from the station. For a more convenient trip, I recommend taking a taxi or renting a bike. Another option for commuters is to take the Fengyuan bus, which provides easier access to the garden. For those driving, there is a large parking area available, and parking is free. The garden also offers plenty of seating, with benches and tables placed throughout for visitors to rest and enjoy the surroundings. There is a food area where you can grab a meal, as well as vending machines for quick snacks and drinks. Entry to the general garden area is free, but there is a fee to access the designated flower fields zone. If you're looking for a place to go to or looking for a peaceful escape, this garden is a great place to visit.

Local history museum
The National Taiwan Museum of Comics is a charming venue that offers a cozy environment and beautiful architecture, creating a Japanese village vibe in the heart of Taichung. It's an ideal spot for art enthusiasts and nature lovers to explore the development of Taiwanese and Japanese comics. The museum features numerous exhibits showcasing local creators' work, making it a must-visit destination for those interested in Taiwanese comics. With its tranquil setting and free admission, this unique gallery is definitely worth experiencing.
We found out this neat place with lots of Chinese comic books in collection. It’s still during soft opening so the admission is still free. It is a great historical site to visit and the trees 🌳 are amazing. It doesn’t have much English description in the exhibition though. I wish it had more language options since it’s a national level museum. Parking lot is available but may get crowded during peak hour. Their building keepers are all very friendly.
ShihTing H — Google review
Aesthetically pleasing museum to visit. There is a nice pond and a neat layout of small exhibits alongside the main pathway. You have to take off your shoes to enter most of the exhibits. Spaces inside the exhibits might feel a bit cram but it’s air-conditioned and comfortable to view the art. There is also a place where you can buy and read comics (written in traditional Chinese) for free.
Samuel T — Google review
Visited around 5pm, right before closing(6pm). Not much for a westerner to read (you'll learn alot more about it's history and Japanese influences doing a web search), but do come here to see the impressive Japanese Colonial era buildings and cool banyan trees. Worth the visit and it is only a 15 minute walk to the Museum of Literature. Free admission and clean restrooms.
William L — Google review
This museum is set in a park and has several buildings, with each of them having a different purpose. Some of them have temporary expos. I spent a great deal of time browsing through all the manga in the library building. The museum is free, but requires a quick registration. The only thing I was missing was a shop to buy some of the comics.
Kah T — Google review
This place features a lot of comic artworks and even special exhibit. The whole compound itself is already a nice place to chill and immerse on the various exhibits, old trees maintained and outdoor yard. There is also a comics library where you can stay and read.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Taichung, Kiwi Express Hotel is a fantastic choice for travelers seeking comfort without breaking the bank. This stylish hotel boasts a chic and minimalist design that exudes modernity, featuring industrial elements like exposed brick and sleek black metal accents. Guests appreciate the hotel's commitment to quality at an affordable price, making it an ideal spot for budget-conscious adventurers. The accommodations range from private rooms to spacious dormitories, all designed with attention to detail and comfort in mind.
We had a wonderful stay there and we wished we could have extended it but they were fully booked for the following days. Room 302 was a twin bed room, very clean, industrial style design with exposed brick walls, concrete colours and a fake column which gave the room an artistic vibe. -Beds super comfortable -Very quiet -Big windows, lots of sunlight at 302 (different from 303 that we saw before and kindly asked to change it) -Night lamps as well as different light settings for the room which is nice when one person goes to bed earlier than the other one -Enough space for putting the bags -Bathroom immaculately clean, shampoo, shower gel, towels provided -Lovely staff at the reception and the kitchen -Basic breakfast included, comes with ground bean coffee - much appreciated -Amazing communal area with games, a pool table, Playstation, Nintendo Wi, card games -Laundry available(DIY) -the hotel’s recommendations about tourist activities and the Taichung Tourism app FUN helped us a lot to figure out our plan for a fee days of exploring the cities and its surroundings -location near Central station as well as convenience stores and restaurants makes for a good travel base -Checkout at 12.00pm is very convenient, Checkin at 3.00pm could be a bit earlier but luggage storage is possible at the reception so not much of a problem Overall great value for money

The entrance to the building opens up in an alley, not a main road. When getting inside, change into hotel slippers: shoes are left in the locker room on the first floor. Staffs are friendly and can speak good english so it made communication easier. The dormitory rooms are alright. You get your money’s worth i would say. The breakfast and arcade on the top floor was what i liked. Overall, the experience was alright.

One of the lousier hostel I've stayed so far. You have to always change your shoes to their slippers before heading up to your room and you have to change your own bedsheets. Toilet is always not clean up and is dirty. Overall, the guideline of always changing to their in-house slipper is just so much of a hassle and a waste of time as people still can wear their slipper and head out of the hotel.

Great hostel. Very clean and quiet. Personal lockers in the dorm rooms fit a 65L backpack and still have room left. Cabins are big enough for a 180cm person. Friendly desk staff who gave me good advice on the local night markets.

Just a few minutes walk from the Taichung train station. Clean and well run. Staff is friendly and speak English and Mandarin. I've stayed a few times when I had to travel the island for work. Very nice.

The hotel has nice decor and is clean and there are bathrooms on each floor which are well laid out. The dormitory rooms are a good size and beds are comfortable. The common room is spacious with many tables and includes a mini open kitchen. You can store your own food in the fridge and they provide stickers for you to put on the packaging so others are less likely to steal your food. A very basic free breakfast is offered every morning from 8:30-10:30am. You either bring your own toiletries or you can buy them at an extra cost. Only complaint is that on some nights some guests were really loud in the corridors even though it was nearly midnight. I'm not sure how often this happens but maybe emphasise to guests that they should be quiet when it's late. It was overall a very satisfying stay!

Modern Hotel/Hostel nearby Taichung railway station. Staff was friendly, rooms and shared bathrooms were clean. Simple, western style breakfast included. Only check in time was a little late with 5pm. still would definitely recommend to stay here.
Daniel H — Google review
We stayed here for one night in Triple Room. The room was overall clean and safe. There's a small window in a room with no views; when you open it, there's another concrete building standing right next to it. The hotel provided basic toiletries for each person and you can buy more at the vending machine on the first floor. The building is located less than 10-minute walking distance from Taichung station and is very close to Miyahara Ice Cream. I used washer and dryer for affordable price. Breakfast on the 9th floor was horrible--I skipped it.

I-deal HOTEL is a modern and stylish accommodation that offers streamlined rooms and suites with free breakfast, loaner bikes, and Wi-Fi. Situated in a vibrant area perfect for shopping, dining, and nightlife, the hotel also provides a quiet environment for a good night's sleep. The spacious, clean, and comfortable rooms are complemented by helpful and friendly staff.
I stopped in for some information and help. The front desk staff was amazing. I'd recommend this hotel for great service. They appear to also have a beautiful food buffet as well. I can't speak for the rooms but I'll stay here if the need arises (I'm a local resident). Thank you for your kindness.

The smell in the room was horrid reeking of years of cigarettee smoke. I purchased charcoal air fresheners and Febreeze to minimize the powerful odor. We stayed out late to avoid going back. Once asleep, we were fine, but upon waking up, we were quickly reminded of the dictating stench that was in charge. The best part of this experience was the check out. I'll never return to this place again. Warning: Booking.com manipulates it's review system for users to rate the positive aspects first then the negative ones. Only the positive section was published. I was genuine with my pros, but the negative issues most certainly outweighed the positive. Now I see how I was suckered into this location. Booking.com's unethical and dishonest method promotes this location under false pretenses.

Located just walking distance from Yizhong Street The staff was okay and helpful enough The breakfast option was not many but still okay For the room, it was small and the hygiene was very low Dust everywhere in the room, there was also leakage on the wash basin The air conditioner is also right above the bed, so the wind was directly blowing to us Was not worth it considering the quite high price, need to improve more

Stayed at i-DEAL for 15-day quarantine in December 2021. For a 3-star hotel everything was great; not the hippest or newest but clean and functional room with a nice bed and nice, hot shower and bath. Fifth star is for the staff who were very friendly and tried to communicate with me despite their basic English skills. After only a few nights I was moved to a local hospital and this hotel fully refunded the remaining days after a few emails back-and-forth. So very correct how they handled this!

This hotel is situated in a great area for shopping, eating & taking in the night life. However, it was also very quiet at night, so, we both had a good night's sleep. The room was spacious, clean, tidy and comfortable and the staff very helpful and friendly. We are cycle tourers, so, the breakfast was great for us. There were many choices of cold vegetables, salad, hot soup, a scrambled egg dish, a chicken/mushroom dish, a hot veggie dish as well as rice & porridge with all the condiments you need. It's perfect for cycling!!!!
Brenda G — Google review
When I first get into my room, my room is smelly and full of dust, and the next day when I woke up, I felt my back is very itchy and i had an allergic. I think is because of the bedsheet. There are yellow-stained on the bedsheet and some of the pillows, and this makes me feel uncomfortable. The sound insulation of the room is not good enough, I can hear voices from outside and the neighbours. The room is really full of dust even I don't think the floor has ever been cleaned. But the staff is quite helpful and friendly, the only star is for the staff. I'm really not recommend staying at this hotel unless this hotel has some improvements.

Was on a family trip with my daughter to Taiwan and we stayed in this hotel. We don’t complaint much although the room is old as we are checking out tomorrow morning. We stay room 709 and suddenly a men tried to open the door and to me surprise he has the same key? I was lucky as i put the latch on, i asked the men who are you? He just reply me “never mind" & run away. I called to the front desk and complaint. I asked anyone came to front desk and said why room 709 was taken? The front desk said nobody else came to the front desk. I asked for CCTV & the worst was the front desk told me the CCTV was not working and cant view the men at floor 7. The hotel said i should change room because of what happened. They don’t even can give me an answer. Are they hiding something or ?? What if anything happens to other guests and involve a police case but no evidence as CCTV as not working? I’m writing this as i don’t want others to become the victim. God blessed 🙏

Solidbean Coffee Roasters is a minimalist and hip cafe in Taichung that puts the spotlight on expertly roasted coffee beans. The atmosphere is light and solid, making it a comfortable place to enjoy great-tasting sandwiches. Additionally, the cafe is dog-friendly, adding to its welcoming vibe. The staff are friendly and the overall ambiance encourages a quiet and pleasant experience for customers.
Specialy coffee tour in Taichung: Solidbean, get! Double Espresso (Ethiopia Natural DP/Columbia/Costa Rica Honey) Fruity flavor, light taste, little pity that the post flavor's a bit weak Specialty (Guatemala/Costa Ric/Yirgacheffe Natural DP) Fruity, chocolate taste, classic Yirga sour

Coffee shop. Offering the good atmosphere. It is located on the street inside. Service is quick. the order is quick. however, Coffee is not suitable for me at this time. Good for hanging out with your friends sometime when you visit nearby. Hardly parking by car. Have an E-pay.
RaBi H — Google review
BEWARE: MINIMUM ORDER. My friends ordered a cup of coffee each and I didn’t wanna get one because I was already quite full. At first the staff didn’t say anything, but after a while when my friends were almost done with their coffee, the staff came over and said there’s a minimum charge and I need to order. Honestly they could have said this earlier when we were ordering and we could decide whether to leave or not but now I feel forced because I have to order if not how? Do I stand outside and talk to my friends through a window? One of my friends actually bought their coffee beans so it’s not like we didn’t order enough $$ for 3 people. They were also so SLOW, they only started making my coffee when I told them we are going to leave. The coffee is honestly so good here and I would have given them a five star if not for this whole situation which honestly sucks.

Modern art museum
Nestled in the heart of Taichung, the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts is a vibrant hub for art enthusiasts and families alike. This expansive museum showcases an impressive collection of Taiwanese artworks, emphasizing modern visual arts that reflect the island's unique culture. After undergoing extensive renovations following a devastating earthquake in 1999, it now boasts a stunning interior and exterior design that captivates visitors. The museum features 24 exhibition rooms filled with diverse paintings and sculptures, ensuring there's always something new to discover.
A good, informative, and inspiring collection of artwork. Take your time to explore the different sections of the museum and appreciate the unique pieces on display. Each artwork tells a story—pause, observe, and let it speak to you.

This museum has a huge outdoor space with big installations. So go check out the garden area. The expanse of the building gives a grandeur but modern. The 3rd level was having set up so we didn’t manage to catch the exhibition on one level. No entrance fee so can come in here to enjoy the exhibits.

Really great experience here. Got here about 6pm and went to the cafe. Had the iced peach flavoured fruit tea. Service was great. The tea tasted refreshing and had light peach notes. Once finished, went to the first floor entrance for the art exhibition. It is free entry and it was so nice to walk around and admire the beautiful art on display. I would definitely recommend a visit to this magnificent art museum.

Really nice art museum. Especially the "ROC art competition" they exhibit and host is a really interesting window into the contemporary art scene. The architecture is great and I believe the entry was free. So no reason not to check it out!

I really enjoyed this art museum. The permanent collection takes you on a tour through Taiwanese art, from Chinese influence, to Japanese influence, to western influence, to the unique style. The exhibition space on the first floor was also great. Nice gift shop too!

Great art museum. Definitely worth going in Taichung, especially it’s free. Many works are part of submissions to competitions and are done in various mediums. The art is immensely well done with skill and beauty.
Samuel T — Google review
The National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts in Taichung was a rewarding stop during my trip. The building is large and modern, with generous open spaces and natural light that make it easy to navigate and pleasant to explore. One of the highlights was the Liao Shiou Ping retrospective exhibition, which offered an insightful journey through the works of one of Taiwan’s most influential modern artists. The curation was clean and balanced, with vibrant prints and mixed media pieces that showed the range and depth of his work. It was genuinely interesting and gave context to how Taiwanese contemporary art evolved through global influences. Outside, the sculpture park wraps around the museum in a wide green space, dotted with installations and contemporary pieces. Though not particularly dense, it adds a leisurely dimension to the visit and makes the whole experience feel more relaxed and open. The museum is free to enter and not overly crowded, which made it easy to take my time. It may not have the blockbuster feel of major international galleries, but it holds its own with thoughtful exhibitions and a calm, well-designed setting. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Taichung and enjoy contemporary art.

Guests can also enjoy the outdoor swimming pool, hot spring area, and two on-site restaurants.
A fantastic property. It’s well kept, clean, and spacious. The hot springs are very nice too. For about $25 USD per person they have an excellent premium buffet with many, many, choices. The bed is the softest and most comfortable I’ve had on this trip to Taiwan, if you’re into that kind of thing, a little softness in your mattress. I read some negative reviews about the location and nothing being around, but that doesn’t make sense because the hotel was not hiding its location. Perhaps take a look around before booking and see if the location works for you.

My family stayed here for two nights. The hotel was overall quite nice. I would not say it is a 5 star like they claim, but a solid 4 star seems adequate. Positives: 1. The staff was professional, kind and friendly. They helped withcanything they could. 2. The hot spring in the room is my favorite feature. This special Tub with mineral hot spring water available in the room makes this hotel special. 3. The rooms were clean and well organized. 4. The saunas and steamrooms available in the hot spring area were nice. 5. The views were nice. Negatives: 1. The restaurants and breakfast buffet were not great. 2. Location is not convenient especially if you need a taxi to go out. It is time consuming and need to plan around 600 TWD round trip to go to the city and back for site seeing. 3. There is nothing by the hotel, not even a 7/11.
Matt C — Google review
The hotel was very good! especially the buffet the buffet had unlimited steak my favorite food in the whole wide world! But the breakfast buffet didn't have any pancakes which is a little bit disappointing... WARNING ⚠️ to dog owners! If you're planning to go to the fresh Fields hotel with your dog, I recommend that you bring a soft dog bed for your dog! because the accommodations for your dog is a cage. Just a cage... And newspapers for flooring, And a potty, so pls bring a soft bed for your dog🐕 the Room for are Family was VERY good it had the hot tub, a channel TV, a mini fridge and Japanese style robes. There's some free drinks in the mini fridge, there is two cans of Coke and and one can of a Taiwanese super energy drink. But the Doggy Room has a fan and very dark lights. So overall I feel like the hotel was very good But I wish the hotel will improve in their doggy rooms. And add comfortable bedding and brighter lights.

Room is big and spacious with a hot spring tub inside the room. Was assigned a corner unit with nice mountain view. Would have been better if the phone charging port is nearer to the bed. The nearest phone charging point is too far away at the desk and there is no extension cable given. Location wise is quite inconvenient if you do not drive. The free shuttle bus has limited timing, if you want to travel to and fo the hotel, the only option is via taxi which cost at least NT250 each trip. The nearest public bus stop is also more than 1km away. It's worth if you are spending more time in the hotel and using the hot spring.
Shermaine — Google review
I stayed in the hotel in two separate nights, the first night was good. But when i checked in the second night the receptionist seemed tired and disinterested , when i went into the room, the room had some strange ( sewage) smell and i called to see whats wrong but the staff gave some excuses and the smell persisted we decided to change room. A long story short the hotel gave us two rooms to see but are of less desirable with an excuses of fully booked and finally a room was found and we moved into it. The whole process lasted more than 90 mins, my impression was that the hotel staff wanted to made your life difficult so the you did not want to change room.

Was surprised to find out that we could not check into our room until 4 pm. Yet check out was 1100 am. Swimming pool opened at 2pm and closed at 7pm. So one didn't get much time to swim. Dinner was buffet, and I felt that the quality wasn't there for a "5 star" rated hotel. I should have read the reviews of others who had been there before and have said that they will not return. The staff was very friendly and courteous.

The Taiwan Balloon Museum is a unique and interactive museum located at a former balloon factory. It offers tours, kids' activities, and even balloon-making classes by appointment. Unlike traditional museums, this one provides an engaging learning experience for children, combining cultural creativity with sightseeing. Whether it's a birthday celebration or just for fun at home, balloons are beloved by many but not well understood beyond their typical usage.
We had a lot of fun at this place. While we had been told the tour would be in Mandarin (which we don't speak), everyone went out of their way to include us, speak some English and hand us written materials so we could follow what was happening. The kids had a blast making their own balloons, and the factory tour was quite interesting (how often do you think about where balloons come from or how they're made?).

Today was my second time coming to 2nd Floor. Today I had a brunch with friend and another time a dinner (and also the branch in Showtime 百貨). FOOD: We ordered the salmon egg bennies and mushroom omelette. Both of them delicious and nothing bad to say. They were awesome and a perfect choice for a brunch. We also ordered a French toast which could be added in the set. MENU: The menu is amazing with English and Pictures. The menu is actually a book. SERVICE: The waitress was really kind and the food comes fast. PRICE: 1045 NTD 兩位. Totally fair. Extra Points: 1 - The decoration with blue walls is so pretty which makes me say that I prefer to go 公益路店 than in Showtime. 2 - When I had dinner in Showtime 百貨, I had a pork knee, OREO Milkshake and fried chicken. The Milkshake was delicious as well as the Pork knee which I still remember was so crunchy For sure I’ll return to 2nd floor. Great experience having a dinner here. The cafe interior was so nice and beautiful, thus make the cafe ambience perfect. The music played are great music tho. The staffs were friendly and trying their best to speak english to us even we can speak Chinese. Thumbs up for them. The foods were delicious, especially the burger. Very mouth watering and the beef’s also very juicy. However, the pasta we ordered is just okay. It’s like something was missing from the pasta taste so we kept adding black pepper and tomato sauce. Overall, we are satisfied customers.

There is a lot to tell about this store. In roughly, I will say this is one of the best American style food restaurant. First, I can Guarantee that you wouldn’t be hungry when you leave here. They have many Branch in different cities in Taiwan, specifically Taipei. This restaurant is a pet friendly store. You can bring your dog enjoy meals with you. The fee here is around NTD.400(USD.13) per person. Actually, it is hard to pick my favorite one to tell you, because I like most of them. I suggest you add more NTD.90 to buy their drinks, sup and bread, because to can ask more drink and bread for free as long as you can ingest more. For the Birthday person, they will give you a cute cake to celebrate for free. It is better to give them a call before you go ahead. Sometimes you may need to wait for a set especially on weekends. The surrounding here is clean, comfortable and relax. You can enjoy your talking with your friends. This restaurant is also located by center of Taichung city. If you are a tourist. You should take a look at National Taichung Theater. From Second Floor Cafe, you can go to there by taxi or you can even walk to National Taichung Theater.

This place is absolutely unbelievable and I LOVED the visit! It's a cat café and you can pet the animals before you eat your meal or during! Lots of great menu items and high quality selections. Also, I had a really nice iced latte and my son a hot cameral macchiato and both came with adorable kittens drawn into them. Came at 330pm, perhaps it’s the wrong timing, all the cats were sleeping. Around 4pm is feeding time but after eating the cats went back to sleep. Cats were super fat and cute but the staff wasn’t too friendly to our big group of 7 maybe because we are not locals. Told us to sit outdoors but warned us that the cats might run out if we keep opening the door, but we have to watch over the kids don’t we? Since we were made to sit outside? I will try another cat cafe if I’m here again.

Food is prepared fresh and might take a while to get to the table, so it's a good opportunity to look for some cats after you've ordered. 5/5 stars, if I'm ever in Taichong I would come by again!

Hiking area
Scenic spot
Dakeng Scenic Area, located in Beitun District, Taichung City, is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. The area features 12 hiking trails that wind through steep hills and dense forests, offering opportunities for hiking, biking, and wildlife viewing. The trails vary in difficulty, with options suitable for beginners as well as more challenging routes for experienced hikers. In addition to outdoor activities, visitors can also enjoy a morning market on holidays near the entrance of the scenic area.
There is so much fresh produce and food stalls here; it is ever so lively! But beware, some of the items are more expensive than supermarkets and I do not believe the price by weight is always what they say. There are many trails here and some are so crowded that you feel like you are in a scenic queue to a popular attraction. One thing I like about this place is that the walking paths have variety. There are stone steps, dirt paths, and logs to step on, as well as a variety of jungle gyms. There are some parking lots, mostly always full with many cars parked illegally. There are also a lot of cars parked along a red line at the side of the road.

Try trail 10 if you like neverending steep stairs. Very popular and nice place for a quick hike. Many trail options to choose from. Prepare to sweat! Plenty of vendors everywhere selling drinks and food.

The Farmers Market in the enterance has familar vendors and products. Unfortunately, some trailes are closed due the past heavy rains and landslides and are in the procesa of being restored.

Great place to hike in Taichung. Entry area was quite busy being filled with market stalls. Do get the odd few market stalls up the trails if passing through roads. Can be difficult getting to this area though if using public transport.

We visited the Dakeng Scenic Area on March 2nd and initially planned to hike Trail 9. However, a portion of it was closed, so we backtracked and started our hike from Trail 9-1. We continued onto Trails 6 and 7, which offered a pleasant and manageable hike with good elevation. Before starting the trail, we explored the nearby market, which was a nice experience. There were also clean and convenient toilet facilities available at the trailhead. Overall, I would definitely recommend Dakeng Scenic Area to anyone looking for an easy and enjoyable hiking experience.
Daryl P — Google review
Started from trail 2 which was researched to be the steepest, which connected to trail 5, walked up to reach trail 4 and then U-turn-ed back down trail 5, and exited via trail 1. A continuous walk that took ~2.5 hours. The views were limited as it’s mostly thick vegetation. The trail felt technical because it was 95% logs 🪵 which required a lot of balancing and looking down where you step to ensure your foot 🦶🏻 does not slip into the gaps in between. One gets shaky legs because of all the constant tiptoeing and balancing on the steps, and if you have larger feet, that means less surface to balance on. It felt like an endless path Even on a cloudy day, there were sections that felt more damp and wet on the rope handles & logs, and made it more dangerous. Certain sections of the stairs were quite steep Along the way could see quite a number of other older folks hiking as well, and impressed by their quiet determination. Not exactly a trail I would sign up for because there is no nice peak point, and the journey terrain was not changing much nor very much enjoyable Took a taxi into the start point and quite a bit of driving through winding path, and not sure how accessible it is via public transport honestly. Was luckily able to get uber quite easily to enter and exit, but cost about $625 TWD each way from central Taichung

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Nantian Temple is a Taoist prayer hall adorned with intricate carved figures and crowned by a towering statue of Lord Guan. The 48-meter-high God of War, seated above a tiger, offers an excellent photo opportunity. This deity is traditionally revered by rebels and criminal groups. Inside the temple, visitors can admire numerous ornate statues of various deities. Outside, there's an enclosure housing a massive tortoise statue as well as a live tortoise.
One of the coolest temples in Taichung. Definitely check it out and go upstairs. There are lots of turtles in the back including a very big one across from the bathroom.

We were attracted by the huge, impressive statue atop the temple. Inside are many ornate, beautiful statues of the many deities. Outside on the left is an enclosure with a gigantic tortoise statue and a very big, real, living tortoise!

Very lavish decorations. 6 floors and an elevator. Good view from top floor. Small Ponds on both sides, koi and turtles. One of the nicest temples we have seen

Holiday Inn Express Taichung Park, an IHG Hotel, offers simple rooms with park views and provides dining options along with a complimentary breakfast. The hotel is conveniently located near the Museum of Natural Science and features amenities such as free parking, a fitness center, and a 24-hour front desk. Guests have praised the friendly and helpful staff as well as the spacious rooms with ample natural light.
Accidentally booked the “accessibility” room and was impressed by its size and true accessibility features! The room was very spacious and comfortable, but the gym was really small and basic with only two cardio machines and a tiny weights rack with the max barbell weight only at 10kg. The check in process was a little slow though, even when there is no queue, and no complimentary toothbrushes are provided! One has to purchase a rudimentary dental kit at the check in counter at 10 NTD.

A far from Taichung station, 15 minutes walking time. One of my rooms (no. 502) has a broken bath which makes water flows inside the room. Taichung park and a outlet are just near of the hotel. Breakfast is a nice quality.

Went for a short trip, was looking for a renowned hotel, therefore chose IHG HolidayInn. Online shows 4-star, but I highly doubt its a 4-star hotel. 1. VERY BAD ROOM CLEALINESS!! Stayed for 3 nights, but got bitten by bed bugs for more than 60 red, itchy bumps!! 2. Not much facility. GYM room is literally a "room" sized, only a treadmill, a bicycle and a few dumbell. No swimming pool. 3. Room doesn't come with anything. Everything needs to pay. Such as but not limited to, comb, shaver set, toothbrush, etc etc. The reason of 2 stars given, was because of the view, and accessible to lots of amenities. I'll never ever choose IHG again. Suffered for long time due to the bed bug bites.

Room is sizeable and clean. Location is just in front of Taichung Park. Staff is friendly but they didn't recognise my IHG membership. Breakfast is good. Free parking. We had a room facing the courtyard so there is no natural sunlight.

Customer service is excellent. Especially Anna, and hotel manager Stefi. They really helped redeem my experience with IHG Holiday Inn. Or it would be less than 1 star. After night market, we came back to the hotel late. Right after my husband shower, I went in. Half way through my shampooing, I tasted the water being a little salty. As I open my eyes, the water was coming out brownish yellowish! It was so gross. I ran out and turned on the water in the sink and it was coming out straight brown!!! It was so traumatizing, leaving me wondering if I bathe and tasted some sewage water or something. I frantically called front desk and they asked me to leave the water running and they will send the technician up. It took around 5 minutes for the water to slowly turn clear. By the time technician came up, he said, “it is clear now right? So what is the problem?” I was furious! What is the problem??! I called front desk again the gentleman and they can help me change the room. I have 2 young kids with all the luggage and laptop opened. They offered a big room and double check it is fully functioning before we go in. Within 3 minutes, Anna came. She said she check the room next to us and it is okay with the water. I went in with her and turn on the tub water, it came out yellowish again!!!!! By that time, I burst! It was already 11:49pm. She assured me that it is a rusty pipe, but in my head, I’m still wondering if I tasted sewage water. All I’m concerned about is how would my kids brush up, it is so late already and how about our luggage?? ! She immediately offer to bring over a case of bottle water for us to brush up . Upon hearing that my husband has a 5am online meeting, she offer the 2 rooms so we don’t have to move our stuff and he can use the room to have full privacy for meeting. I was still furious but I looked at Anna, she maintain her kind gesture and I realized it really isn’t her fault and she is finding all possible solutions for us. She even said she will reflect to see if we can get partial point refund back. We took her offer for the room with late check out. The next day, as we checked out, all front desk knew about our situation. The manager, Stefi, came out and assured us they are inspecting the pipes, address the situation and it was an isolated incident in the two rooms. I told her, Anna is really worth praising for her professionalism. I must admit, I was not keeping my calm and it must have been a stressful situation. I work for customer service before and no one wants these things to happen. I told her, I’m just thankful for Anna that at least my husband has a second space to work so my kids and I can sleep in, clean bottled water to brush up, and we got late check out. I Google when we woke up and indeed, it is mostly a rusty pipe that burst or something. Upon realizing our kids were so young, Stefi, empathized for our situation and offer a full refund back to us. It was out of my expectations since I was already happy with Anna’s solution for us already. Room: 2.5 stars. 4.5 for cleanliness of sheet. 1 star for bathroom. Room 1112: a lot of mold on the silicone grout and behind the sink. Room 1111 was better but still have it. I didnt check the bathtub area as I was too afraid to shower. Room 1112 has dust by the window area and bathroom vent. Breakfast: 4 star! Actually a lot of varieties and good. customer service: 5 stars Location: 5 stars. 10 minutes to night market and around 10-15 walk to station. Has shopping shop and Starbucks by lobby. Free parking. View is pretty nice from 11th floor. You see the park. Amenities: 4 stars coffee by 3 floor, good laundry room, and small gym.

I had the pleasure of staying at this hotel for a few days, and I must say it was a truly amazing experience! From the moment I checked in. The room service was top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff catering to my every need. The rooms themselves were comfortable, clean, and well-appointed. One of the standout features of this hotel is its excellent location. With easy accessibility by train or bus, exploring the surrounding area was a breeze. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable, convenient, and enjoyable stay.

A nice, clean, affordable, and completely accessible stay in Taichung. Parking was tight but my wheelchair had plenty of room once we got into the building. Walk-in showers were nice and the rooms are quite large. We got a room facing inwards which was fine with us as it meant extra dark for night and morning sleep-in. Perfect for what we needed!

Very nice hotel. Even It has been opened for years. The staffs in check-in counter are all very friendly and always ready to help. The room is perfectly clean including the carpet. Really enjoy the stay here.

We stayed here for five days and had a good experience. The gym, sauna and pool are really good and comfortable. The breakfast has so many options it’s great, we had it three out of five days we were there. The gym is big and has everything you need. (Gym staff well the lady we met she could have been a bit more friendly.) The people who cleaned our room were amazing and deserve a raise for the great work they did. One big negative is the min purchase in the cafe I just wanted to sit there and have a coffee but had to buy more than a coffee to sit there, not sure this is fair when you are already staying at the hotel. Parking is good, can be busy and some of the spaces are quite tight, but overall never really struggled to get a car space. The hotel gave us a small Christmas card and gift which was a lovely touch. Water taps, available just outside the room which was also great. Location wise it’s great and easy to get around.

The Windsor Hotel Taichung delivers a satisfying experience thanks to its exceptional service team. The front desk and concierge staff are the true standouts, consistently going above and beyond with their professional and attentive assistance to guests. Their dedication to ensuring a pleasant stay helps compensate for the hotel's dated aspects. While the rooms show their age with older furnishings that could use updating, they remain comfortable. The highlight is the breathtaking view of Taichung from the upper floors, though the experience would be enhanced by more thorough exterior window cleaning. Despite these minor shortcomings, the Windsor's prime location and outstanding service make it a worthwhile choice for travelers. The staff's commitment to guest satisfaction helps overcome the property's dated elements, creating an experience that still offers good value. Recommended for those who prioritize excellent service over modern amenities.

The location wasn’t so convenient if you travel by train ( THSR & rail). I had buffet lunch here, didn’t stay over. The service was good, the buffet was plentiful, and wild options. However I found the arrangements of the seats were a bit too crowded.

I only visited for the breakfast buffet, we didn’t stay in the hotel. There are some nice dishes such as the beef soup, but other than that, it was mediocre. They have the basic things you would have in a hotel breakfast buffet. But there were no fresh made dishes or anything astonishing. There are a good choice of breads but didn’t seem like they were fresh.. some were bit old and hard. It is ok if you stay in the hotel and have the complimentary breakfast, but to pay full price I wouldn’t say it’s worth the cost. Staff was nice and polite. There is also free parking

Additionally, visitors can explore Jurassic Planet with over 50 dinosaur statues and interactive games. The destination also includes a playground and popular photo spots such as the castle, suspension bridge, grassland, and the pool for memorable experiences.
Super fun for dinosaur-obsessed kids. Kids of all ages can enjoy it. It’s a big place and lots of things to see and do. You need to spend quite a bit to enter and then still need to pay for food, drinks and some rides inside the park. There’s a parking lot but it’s not massive. Overall was super fun but be prepared to spend at least 2000NT overall.

This place... where do I start... I like the premise of it, but clearly much of the outdoor features and equipment are quite dated. There are lots of animaltronics that have either broken down or just randomly start to move which will give any unsuspecting visitor a bit of a surprise lol There are many facilities that are due for a bit of a renovation and revamp but still clean/functional, with very few spots that need a bit of upkeep due to lack of access but overall well cared for, considering its age. With those points said, this place is quite gorgeous and absolutely has potential to be an amazing place if the new owners are willing to put in a bit of elbow grease and cash. I've included a bunch of photos, no filters, to show the parks lay out and set up but it truly does not do the park justice. There are phenomenal camping rental cabin sites on the grounds with stunning views, playgrounds, open off leash dog areas, outdoor stands for food, beer, refreshments and icecream all for $100nt or less, give or take, and a open pool area where people AND their pets can mutually enjoy the nice cool water from the sweltering summer heat, along with a "hoomans only" area for those who are grumpy and hate animals... The facilities are/were well maintained and clean despite our visit only seeing maybe only 5-6 other families! The staff were beyond friendly and helpful, and very hard at work cleaning what they could. There is an indoor ball pit, fake sand (tiny plastics) area, inflatable castle area, a mini fake market/village, and dress up station for photos as well. The usual claw machines were everywhere, with a special section within the indoor restaurant/ballpit grounds, with specialized token toys; and there was also a big indoor restaurant (King Kong Shrimp) which served the usual fried snacks but also many healthy options, far different from your traditional NA everything friend and unhealthy bs. There are also arcades including vr shooting, vr rides, and even a fake fishing area where kids can exchange their catches for prizes; which was formerly a real fish pond for foot spa but local animal protection laws have restricted that now. Overall, Id say its worth a visit, the parking is free, there are TONS of coupons that you get with your entry (almost giving the same amount in savings as the entry price) and you even get a souvenir golf ball, which is used for the dozens of various minigolf courses scattered throughout the entire amusement park. Its obviously dated and many things need a bit of a reno but honestly, this place is great for your babies and fur babies to both enjoy. If they just changed the outdoor area a bit to attract and emphasize their camping hut rentals for influencers and fenced in off leash area for pets, along with more accessible self bbq and such, Id say this place would be perfect for a family outing! They even have a HUGE castle , first thing you see, specifically used for housing their own local pets as a day spa, with the interior painted and decorated like a grand victorian mansion (see photos). Its worth the visit. Period. As someone fro. Out of town, its honestly not bad at all and could be a full day of fun in the sun for your kiddo and furballs alike. I would go again and I hope they continue to renovate the place back to its former glory and add more to the camping/ influencer areas/ pet party areas, there really isnt any other place like it.... even if you arent interested in any of that, the view itself feom within the park of the river and the mountains are absolutely stunning and worth the photo stop itself. 🥰🫡

This is the best and biggest doggy park/ doggy swimming pool in Taichung. It is actually an amusement park for dogs! The pools are big and clean. There are showers for humans and for dogs. There's a grooming area where you can self groom your dog. There are several places to eat and even drink a cold beer. There are fenced play areas, cabins that can be rented overnight, and a 5 star dog hotel on site. There is a dog temple and a nice rock area with stairs you can walk with your dog. There are swings and a merry-go-round. All the staff is super friendly, especially Raymond, who speaks excellent English and is very helpful. We love to go and spend a few hours, eat lunch at the restaurant, relax, have a cold beer and let our dog swim and play with other fur babies! There is VIP program that is well worth it if you plan to make multiple visits. 🐾

Well this is not at all what we expected before going so there are 2 points of view for this day spent there : The first is that the kid had a lot of fun and it was the goal of the day. It was in the nature, the park is not following the annoying safety Taiwanese standards that don’t allow you to do anything (here you go in and out the rides by yourself and no one is around to say anything to you, you can walk around the rides to take photos of the kids,…), they have a great spot where fishes eat your dead skins in different pools for different fishes, the decors are nice and fun for the kids who like Dinos, the food at King Kong shrimp is above the quality of what you can usually find in theme parks, park is not big so you don’t walk forever if you want to go back to something you want to do again, they have some shows for the kids, the big dinosaurs are pretty realistic and most of them move, the most fun stuff the kids did was to ride an electric dinosaur around (like a car but in a Dino shape) and this is what they enjoyed the most even though it is not a real attraction/ride. The second is that it looks pretty old but when you arrive there you are wondering if the park is still being built because there are construction blocks and material around, the park is not very clean and is pretty muddy, prepare extra clothes because kids may be wet (playing or slipping), even though this is not the park’s fault there are a bunch of mosquitos so bring spray, the parking is 150$, entrance is not that expensive I feel but you have to keep paying for all the activities and rides in the park (but the dead skin pools so this is great), the water park is half inaccessible because the jungle took over so the fun stuff can’t be done, some rides are only moving at certain times so you have to check the schedule and come back because it is like once every 30 minutes or something like that, only squat toilets but for handicapped, no water dispenser even at the restaurant (only sodas) which for a park that has so many kids I feel it should be an obligation to provide it, the tent area looks it had been destroyed by a typhoon or some of the dinosaurs ahah,… also, asking for 5 google stars in exchange of a balloon 🎈 is tricking the system… This is funny they use a bunch of Disney songs and fonts but this is for sure not Disney ahah I for sure don’t regret going as the kids had fun !
Charles — Google review
The kids and our dog had a lot of fun here today. Here are the Pros and Cons: Pros: very pet and kids friendly. A good place to spend two hours. Entrance fee at $350 per person ($250 of which is redeemable toward any spending) is reasonable. Best activities: pools with fish gnawing at your feet; the pet zoo over the suspension bridge; the relatively clean dog park. Cons: at less than one year old the place already looks a bit run down. The 3:30PM “parade” is a bit sad with 5 people... on a Saturday afternoon! The water in the “hot spring” fish pool is cold, with the caretaker saying that the water is too cold for the fish to be more active. Well, turn up the heat a bit then! The pigs and goats in the pet zoo look sad. Too many mosquitoes. We did not try the food here after hearing negative comments about it, but it does not look appealing anyway.

The Millennium Hotel Taichung is an upscale accommodation located in Xitun District of Taichung City. It offers luxurious rooms and suites with city views, equipped with modern amenities such as flat-screen TVs, tea/coffee-making facilities, and spacious en suite bathrooms. Guests can enjoy the outdoor pool, rooftop bar, and day spa during their stay. The hotel's professional staff provides excellent service, ensuring a pleasant and comfortable experience for visitors.
The hotel shows it's age somewhat. Don't get me wrong, it's impeccably maintained. But you can tell that it was built and furnished some time ago when equipment/styles were different. What's truly outstanding is the service. Holy cow. Reception, porters, housekeeping, wait staff, kitchen staff at breakfast buffet are supremely polite and professional. Totally blown away by how great the service and attitude is of all of those we encountered. We don't know why Taichung and Millennium in particular are so outstanding in this regard but please take a bow people: you richly deserve it. Made us want to live in your city.

I’ve stayed here multiple times so trust me when i say, this hotel has been SEVERELY declining in its service and overall hospitality. They are RUDE to guests and KICK OUT hotel guests of spas for having a small towel while their own members are on their PHONES in the saunas and taking photos (clearly illegal). The rooms no longer provide ANY and all toiletries and make you buy them for extra. Also, don’t expect your room to be cleaned after every night, the house keeping does a LAZY job and doesn’t even make the bed. Also don’t bother taking it up with their lobby or workers because they’ll just brush it aside and tell you that there’s nothing they can do and laugh in your face. Unfortunately Millenium Taichung has turned into a lousy, budget cutting, and classless hotel with despicable service and terrible management. DO NOT RECOMMEND to any tourists or foreigners because they WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE of it.

Room is nice and big. I have a HUGE problem with them not providing basic amenities. Other hotels provide upon request, thing like tooth brush, comb. This hotel them ask u to purchase admist the high hotel cost. Location of the hotel, its out of the way. Nearest convinience stall is like 10 min walk, crossing big roads. Staff are polite, but seriously the definition of being a starred hotel versus a budget one hotel needs to be relooked at.

The rooms is very clean and always ensure complimentary drinks and fruit are provided daily. The fifth level executive launch staff are very friendly and helpful. Always attend to the customer and always smile with greating. The level three buffet breakfast is nice and a lot of variety, will be good to change the dishes daily . Else, the long staying customer will start to feel bored with the variety. In overall is derserve the value for staying in this hotel.

The hotel was great. The location is in a quiet area, mostly surrounded by residential buildings and companies. It's very near Taichung City Hall, which is a beautiful modern building with amazing public grounds. The Prime restaurant is very nice with amazing services and food. Additionally, there is amazing artwork throughout the hotel inside and out.

Stayed a long stay at Millennium Hotel Taichung for business. The rooms well maintained to a sufficient extend. However, during my stay there are times where there were maintenance work. Moreover 4/5 times the daily clean up room was great but there is sometimes my clothes are being thrown on the table and neglected by the staff (alittle bit unacceptable) In general, the staff were very friendly and polite in helping, especially the front desk and lounge staff.

Nice high quality hotel. The breakfast buffet is somewhat limited on Western food items, but there is a broad selection to choose from. Outside of the hotel restaurants you are in a bit of a food desert. Plan on at least attend to 15 minute walk to go to a larger selection of restaurants. For short-term stays this will be perfectly fine.

Call it creature comforts but bidets and a tub are possibly that swings me over every time I visit for business. Executive lounge access is a perk. Rooms though maybe not as fancy as others, are roomy. Close to Feng Jia night market and malls makes it easy to stay.

MINI HOTELS 台中火車站館 is a trendy 4-star hotel located in Xitun District, at the heart of Taichung. The hotel offers a unique and charming atmosphere with stylish British-themed interior design. Guests can enjoy a commercial area on the 8th floor with Harry Potter-inspired decor and complimentary drinks available 24/7.
Very nice little hotel located in a good location not that far from the train station. The staff were professional and polite. The room was clean and neat, and suits our needs. The sound proof of the room was good. A nice little add-on was the coin operated washing machine and dryer at the 8th floor, and they were cleaned and maintained. Highly recommended.

Coming back after 7 years, I was pleasantly surprised by how well the hotel had been maintained — it looked almost exactly as I remembered. Its location is also great, within walking distance to the train station and the famous Miyahara ice cream shop."

I’m giving this hotel an easy 5 out of 5! The room was impeccably clean, and the staff were not only professional but also exceptionally understanding and accommodating. It made my stay incredibly comfortable and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a seamless and pleasant experience!

I’m back here after 6 years and I stayed longer than the previous one-night stay. I booked this again because I was impressed by my first experience, 6 years ago. Mini Hotels literally is about compact hotel rooms. They have expertly made use of a very small floor area so it’s perfect for a solo traveler like me and for its price? Really worth it! The Hotel is strategically located walking distance across the Taichung Station. There’s also plenty of restaurants around including a cat café and the Taroko Mall. It’s also surrounded by convenience stores. So the bed is located at the top like a bunk bed. I had a really comfortable sleep. There’s lack of storage space for your clothes but make it do, you have no choice anyway. I am so satisfied with the bathroom. Very clean and modern. The water pressure is strong and easy to use. However, there’s only the basic amenities like the towels, hair dryer, cotton buds, toothbrush and toothpaste and bottled shampoo and body wash. There’s no hand wash, I had to buy my own. For other amenities like comb, razor and slippers, you have to get them from the front desk. The room has buttons for “make room” and “do not disturb” which for me, is very convenient and cool! There’s a mini ref but you have to ask the front desk for assistance to turn its mode to refrigeration. It’s only good for “cooling” your water. The breakfast is so-so but can’t complain, it’s free! Overall, it’s a fantastic experience, the front desk staff are very polite and accommodating, and I highly recommend booking your stay here!

Cute decorations and festive colors. Rooms are bunk bed styles, kind of interesting but smaller than expected. Although it is called “mini” hotels, overall certainly adorable.

Hotel is clean and great location. Parking is 3 minutes walk. Jenny was very helpful and kind when we checked in. Room is neat and tidy. Japan heated toilet seat. Multiple USB wall outlets through out the room.
Scott F — Google review
The location of the hotel is great, close to the centre of Taichung but in a quiet street. Our room was very small, but they used the available place smartly, so it was ok for two people. We could park our car for free at a parking garage nearby. This hotel exceeded my expectations considering the rather friendly price.

Provide big rooms for big family. Breakfast is included too. It is a value for money hotel for big family. Location is good. It is near the Taichung railway station. It is located near big malls like Taroko mall and lala port. It is located near Zhongxiao Night Market. There is a laundromat just a few stores away.

Nestled in the vibrant Xitun District of Taichung City, The Hung's Mansion is a modern hotel that perfectly blends luxury with convenience. Just a stone's throw away from popular attractions like Maple Garden and the National Taichung Theater, this stylish retreat offers spacious rooms adorned with contemporary design elements. Guests can enjoy air-conditioned accommodations featuring two double beds, flat-screen TVs, and private bathrooms that boast ample space.
Very good hotel, for the price makes it great. Service was minimal but good always greeted when walking in, rooms are very spacious, stayed in a superior double room and it was massive 53m2, separate living and sleeping space. It’s a little dated, aircon a bit noisy, included breakfast was very average, but still a decent stay.
Dennis — Google review
We’ve stayed in this hotel a few times already and figured it was decent value for the money giving the great location, spacious rooms for the price and decent service. However this time it was absolutely unacceptable and we can’t recommend to anyone, especially with kids, to stay at this hotel due to a complete lack of empathy, professionalism and service! First thing when we arrived and asked if standard things are provided in the room: so far we were always provided tooth brush etc. and haven’t been notified of any change so we assumed it’s the same. There was a change and that’s not part anymore however you can ask for it once at the reception. We understand the change and it would have been easy to explain it to us, how ever the lady at the reception chose to ask us in a disrespectful tone after we’ve asked if they can provide it as we need it “you didn’t bring those things?”. What a question if someone already asked for it. Then when we’ve arrived with our two small kids in the room and 5 minutes later , we didn’t even had the chance to check the whole room or to make ourselves comfortable, the reception called us that another guest complained about us being too loud. I repeat : we didn’t even had the chance to walk around in the room or the kids to play etc. we just arrived ! So that was pretty bad. Last but not least, when we went to bed one of our kids cried for a while and couldn’t sleep in. The staff first called , then knocked on the door when we finally managed to get her to sleep in and woke her up; just to tell us again that other guests complained! Again the attitude was completely unacceptable and unreasonable. We just stayed one night and won’t come back. We were very disappointed and the service was unacceptable for a hotel for this price. Can’t recommend it and especially for families I would strongly advice to not waste your time, money and energy here!

I haven’t had the pleasure of staying at this hotel, however I have received amazing service from staff here - that made my day. My partner is from Taichung and we finally returned home after 5 years. My international roaming failed to work. We were tired after many hours travel, plane and bus and then when trying to grab a taxi to my partners parent place - we had no luck. The amazing team here firstly let us use the toilet when we clearly weren’t staying here. On top of that they went out of their way to call a taxi for us so we could finally make our way home. Everyone staying at The Hung’s Mansion appeared very happy, based on their level of service I believe everyone would be happy staying there. Thank you for your assistance and for making the final and shortest part of our journey a lot easier :)

My favourite hotel in Taichung! Same cleanliness and sophistication 14 years apart! Comfortable bed, perfect noise isolation, premium bathroom items. Location right off highway, close to shopping malls (walking distance). Service not as good as before though. No help rendered to move heavy luggage through uneven surface. Bellman was more focus on collecting food from biker than helping guests to board Uber car.

The room is really top notch with comfortable beds and slippers. My family enjoy the room a lot. I want to say a big thank you to the chambermaid who acceded to our frequent requests within 2 hours with lots of patience. Breakfast buffet is quite ample too. Will want to stay again if ever come to Tai Chung.

Underrated hotel in Taichung. Really enjoyed our stay here. They are very professional and the rooms are very nice. We stayed in the executive suite and loved the large living room and bathroom. Bed was very comfortable. After checking in, one of the staff escorted us to the elevator. Was very impressed with this small but kind gesture. They provide free parking, but note that you will need to ask the staff for a token when leaving. We didn’t know this, but the staff was kind enough to rush down to the garage to help us leave.

Location is goods. Room is clean and spacious. The bed is just on point. Not too soft or too thick and the size is big! We love the breakfast, too. Tasty with a variety. Strongly recommend for tourists who wants a chill stay at Taichung!

This is a lovely hotel that we keep returning to. It's got lots of books and places to hang out, but is also, airy, open, and aesthetically pleasing. A lot of care has gone into sound management, and it feels quiet even when the lobby or seating areas are quite busy.

This 3-star smoke-free hotel offers 142 comfortable rooms with city views, providing a convenient base for exploring the area. Guests can enjoy complimentary breakfast, parking, and Wi-Fi during their stay. The hotel's clean rooms come at an affordable price and feature amenities such as a mini fridge.
Check in was a little slow, but I cannot complain for the space and price. Amenities are included; hair dryer, shampoo, body wash, towels. Conditioner is not provided and I used the body wash to wash my hands. The hotel and the room is a bit nicer than I’m used to 😂. It’s clean, comfortable, and spacious. It’s also next to a bus stop and Taichung train station. Not to be confused with the high speed rail, which is further out.

Room is quite small but clean & comfy enough. Location is very strategic, very near to the bus stop & 15 minutes walk to Yizhong night market. Breakfast is good & they have option menu for vegetarian.
Susan H — Google review
This place felt more like a motel than a hotel by American standards. The room was small with very low ceilings, which created a claustrophobic feeling. Most importantly, the cleaning service was poor. The floors weren't vacuumed, and the bathroom was not properly cleaned. I found hair all over the floor, and facial powder was left in the sink. Furthermore, the kettle had a concerning amount of white, calcified mineral buildup at the bottom. Obviously, it wasn't cleaned. This was an unpleasant experience for my first trip to Taichung, and I would not recommend this hotel.

“A suitable option for accommodation” - The location is in the center of taichung, easy to catch bus and a lot of restaurants nearly - The facilitation of this hotel is overall fine with sufficient stuffs/devices. Only for the laundry, it is a self laundry services using coin. The washing machines seem ok but it takes so long for the drier to dry the clothes - Some employees are friendly with good English & very supportive (but not all employees are friendly) - Affordable prices with breakfast option (the breakfast dishes are quite the same day by day but overall they are on average) 2 attached images are the view from my room

This hotel is an extremely perfect choice for you if you are low-budget but still prioritize convenience and walking accessibility. It is very close to Taichung TRA Station & Gancheng Bus Station which is a major transfer point connecting to all places around the city (including Sun Moon Lake), there are also convenience stores, restaurants, outlets and a big park, all with in just 5 minute walking. Nearby night markets are around 7 minute walking Everything is super clean and modern but the price is surprisingly affordable compared to other accommodations. All staffs are available in English. You are allowed to leave your luggages before checkin and after checkout, please ask the staff for more info

I recently stayed at this hotel and was thoroughly disappointed by the lack of hygiene. Upon entering my room, I noticed a disturbing blood stain on the blanket. It was not only unsettling but raised serious concerns about cleanliness standards. Additionally, the washroom left much to be desired. The absence of a bidet made the experience uncomfortable, especially considering the overall condition of the facilities. I expected a certain level of comfort and cleanliness, but this stay fell far short. I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a pleasant and hygienic experience. Save your money and look elsewhere.

Spacious room, big beds, with windows facing the east, complete necessities and tools (hair dryer, mini fridge, kettle, cups). Only downside is it’s far from the train station (15-20 mins walk) and the bus routes in Taichung is insane.

Enjoyed our stay here, the rooms were clean and well equipped and very comfortable. The customer service was excellent as they were very friendly and accomodating to all our needs - we are foreign travellers, so it was very convinient they were able to arrange for our transportation needs. Hotel feels very new and well maintained. Location was very convinient, with only a 10 minutes walk to the Feng Chia Night Market. Thank you for a wonderful experience Explore Hotel! Highly recommended.

This hotel is deceptive in multiple ways. The hotel lobby is heavily themed to make you feel like it’s disneyland. The reviews are rave. But in actuality, the rooms are poorly cleaned, tacky, and are potentially infested. My partner and I went into our room and found multiple issues: black mold in the showers, exposed and chipped paint near the sink, dust/cobwebs, stains and hair on the bedsheets, moldy amenities, and a cockroach trap underneath the desk. We also discovered that MANY of the 5 star reviews are actually requested by the hotel itself promoting that if you do, you will receive a discount or some special prize (If you don’t believe me, see all the 5 star reviews and examine how many have detailed reviews). I highly recommend you find elsewhere, as there are many more legitimate chain hotels nearby.

The staff have a real Issue with competency. We arrived at the hotel,, around 12 noon. Sure it was early for check in and we were told that we could deposit our bags first. And so we did. They then took my passport for checking purposes. When we returned in the evening at 7pm + . We were td we need to produce our passport and give our booking number again. Is there no comms between the different shifts . Is there no anticipation on their part for their clients who are already having their luggage in their custody . Atrocious. Rooms are seemingly well kept so far. To be fair

Over experience is pretty good at this hotel, staff are very friendly, but there are a few points I would like to address 1. Cleanliness of the hotel would need to improve, both of us (me and my wife) was bitten by mites quite serious after the 1st day of the day, but the staff did offer to change the bedsheet after we let them know and they change it for us but it get a few bites more after the 1st night. So I suspect it’s the bed, hope the hotel can see this message and do something about it. 2. The hotel sound proof is very bad. We can hear the bathing sound/ TV/ hair dryer sound is very loud just make the night wasn’t please. But they staff was well trained and very polite.

The hotel staff bothered me several times bordering on obnoxiousness, were inattentive to basic and commonsensical needs and on top of that the overpriced room was cramped and very basic economy. Not returning...
Christopher C — Google review
Cleanliness is definitely there despite eco cleaning maintenance provided. The only downside is the wifi connection was definitely not the best unless you open the room door due to the placement of router I believe. Location is near 逢甲夜市 and if you love a quiet spot this will be the option.

Nice hotel conveniently located north of Fongjia night market. It's aviation theme resembles the factory in its neighborhood.

One night stay is still alright at this hotel. Room looks fresh and its clean. Room though was abit small but just one night is passable. Irritatable part was that the one light is motion activated. Keeps flickering on & off whenever passed by. Also, basin located right outside the bathroom. Bath area lacks a little maintenance - molds and mildew. Gotta commend the staff! Warm and friendly services! They too enthusiastically run out of the hotel to help in giving directions to park when the underground parking is full!

Sun Hao Hotel Taichung is a relaxed 4-star hotel located in the Nantun district of Taichung. The hotel offers airy quarters with amenities such as complimentary breakfast, a gym, and a polished lobby lounge. It features Wi-Fi throughout the property and is within walking distance from the Tiger City Shopping Centre. The hotel also has a shared lounge, restaurant, and baggage storage facilities.
Stayed at Sun Hao Hotel in Taichung for 2 nights and honestly, it was the best hotel we stayed at during our Taiwan trip! The room was super spacious, clean, and the service was great. Plus, it’s really close to 7E and FamilyMart, which is always a win. Only downside for us as Muslims — the breakfast selection was quite limited. We could only go for fruits, taro balls, steamed taro buns, bread, and cereal. No heavy dishes or eggs, but at least there was milk tea to start the day right! Still, would totally recommend it for the comfort and overall experience.
Izzatul A — Google review
Pretty great hotel-- except they don't provide hand soap in their bathroom. Other customers have commented on the hotel not providing amenities, and they do have a sign at the front desk saying they do not provide free toothbrushes, toothpaste, shower caps, razors, etc. which I can fully understand. But no hand soap? I asked the front desk about it and they said I should use the body soap provided in the shower, which would be simple if it weren't locked to the opposite wall of the doored shower. You quite literally have to get into a wet shower to get soap to wash your hands after using the toilet. This doesn't really scream "we value your hygiene," especially given the pervasiveness of COVID and avian flu at the present moment.
Aleks L — Google review
Horrible! First hotel I’ve been to where I went back to the room with NO ONE cleaning the room! We didn’t even put “do not disturb” and when we called the front desk, they said we didn’t specify to have our room cleaned! This is not acceptable for a hotel that advertises daily housekeeping and now where in the fine print states that we had to go downstairs to specify we wanted housekeeping. Non hotel standard. Avoid at all costs!!

Very good hotel. A bit pricey for Taichung. Location is dangerously close to a big junction for my liking but there is free carpark and nice staff to help. The whole property sits on poor or old and dated sewage and you can smell it from the carpark to the rooms. This is the main reason I cannot recommend this property to anyone who is sensitive to foul smells.
Leonard W — Google review
pretty decent hotel large room natural sunlight simple Taiwanese breakfast - porridge etc decent if you are not anal about food.... My 2 negatives pulling the rating down : 1) bathroom sink does not have any soap - you need to step into wet shower floor to get your soap 2) (my fault) not so flexible check out, my second key card was accidentally packed into my large luggage - a fine of TWD due so I had to dig and dig my luggage until I found it

Great room size and breakfast. Location is near train station. Dryer and washing machine can be improved but still grateful to them since they provide.

Room is rather spacious and personally this is the only advantage. Comfort level for the bed & pillow is minimal. Booked for a deluxe quadruple room with bath & accordingly to the pictures posted online, there is supposed to be 4 pillows on each bed. However, we were only given 2 pillows on each bed. As the pillow is too flat & uncomfortable to sleep, have asked if we can get the extra pillows as per posted online. We were told that we have to pay extra NT100 each in order to have additional pillow.

The hotel room was not large but it was clean and comfortably furnished. I like the layout of the corner room that I was assigned. It had a large window and didn't feel cramped. There was also adequate space to place my belongings. The hotel also have a great view from the roof top and they also provide a small selection of drinks for free there. Location wise it may not be the best as it is about a 10 minutes walk to fengjia market but they have a bus stop nearby and it is convenient to call a uber if you don't want to walk at all. Across the road, there is a small minimart and a louisa coffee. The staffs were friendly and were very helpful. The only complaint I have about the hotel is that there isn't adequate area to hang your clothes and the shower lacks a space to place your own toiletries, which is quite inconvenient. Overall, this is a very nice hotel to stay in at a very good price point.

1. Location, about 10 - 15 minutes walk away from Fengjia night market. Bus stop at the side of hotels. Some eatery and 7 eleven/ Familymart nearby. 2. Reception and staffs were kind and helpful. They really tried to accomodate my request of a quiet room. 3. Our family room was quite big and comfortable. Unfortunately the curtain was not able to block the light fully in the morning. Bed was comfortable enough. Ac was cool and quiet. 4. Shower and toilet area are separated. No bidet in the toilet area was a bit inconvenient for those who are used to it. 5. Breakfast was simple. Mostly same food everyday. So so... 6. A nice public sitting area at the top floor with free coffee and gameboard was nice. 7. Hope they add more clothe hanger.
Chris K — Google review
Room 401. Shower door letting water seep through underneath. By the time I finish the shower only a few minutes the water is all over the toilet area. So imagine waking up in the middle of the light and you want to use the toilet. This problem can be easily remedy if the shower floor is slightly angle toward the drain, so even if the door have a gap there will be no water collecting in the back. Over all room is ok for the price. The good thing is the bed is comfy. Breakfast isn't a surprise then again, can't complain with the price. It is unlikely I will return to the same hotel.

This place is not near any public transportation, but luckily we have our driver to take us. The room was good, but it didn't have blackout curtains, so the sunrise around 5 am woke us up by 7 am. It's within walking distance to the night market, making it a very convenient place to explore.

The room was standard but the lobby was huge and welcoming. The location is a few minutes walk to the famous 逢甲夜市 but is away from the crowd and noise. The car park entrance is very well hidden at the side of the hotel but at least the car park is good and spacious though limited. They have a rooftop area where you can drink and dine (you can bring your own food and they do offer free coffee tea and some cold drinks for free). It is very relaxing especially in the evening at the outdoor area.

Great place to stay as a solo traveller. The location is excellent and it is super close to a night market for food and shopping. The rooms were clean and they provided slippers for wearing around the hostel. My only gripe was that there was no water refill, but they did provide free bottled water. Be LaoPou Bieng is the second flavor and puff pastry will cover it. It covers the all of the tenderness. Now it has another name LaoGuong Bieng, which it has the curry on, is the flavor with. Be dropped it. TianGuong is the YuHuang DaDi. It has the birthday on 3th March on Lunar year. In Chinese,it also has a big ceremony with. The event is always being huge. Walk through the street and road. Being the type of feel etiquette. It’s everyone likes the Yu,which now it also on open. Close the TaiChung Park,it’s the building next to MeiTuong Building. The hand makers are for selling, and it has the certificate with qualification licensed. This is all about consumers’ equal rights. The building feels like traditional life. If some techs are disappeared and if the time has been changed,it will be covered with another renewal. The archetype model, which is being the reality,is what we are looking. The famous for the significant is LuongChi Dian in Tainan.

Stayed for 5 nights at level 7 for an affordable price as we booked early. Room was cold, and we were able to change the towels daily. It has water dispenser at ground level, and board games for rental. Very comfortable stay at this price point. The only down side is the poor sound isolation of the room. We can hear the other room showering in the middle of the night (water sound) and people talking in the other room /outside our room - but not audible to make out the conversation. The overall cleanliness is okay, but housekeeping is only applicable to those who request and is limited to changing towel, replenish tea and water, and clearing trash. As we came after the 3 April 2024 earthquake, there were many aftershocks and we were awoken by the shakes on several days. But the building seems to be newly renovated, integrity should be good and safe as I am here typing a review :)

Lailai Hotel is a relaxed 4-star hotel situated in the heart of Taichung, offering easy access to attractions like the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts and Bulao 125. The hotel provides modern guest rooms with complimentary Wi-Fi and features amenities such as a fitness center with yoga classes and sauna facilities. Guests can enjoy a daily Western buffet breakfast at the on-site restaurant.
I stayed 2 nights here. One of the best hotels I stayed in Taiwan. The hotel is situated in a convenient location, with many food options, shops and markets nearby. The room is clean and quite spacious. The bathroom is big and clean as well. The breakfast in the morning is delicious with variety of options.

Giving it a 5 stars for the location, less than 5 mins walk to Yizhong night market. Room is spacious, can comfortably fit 2 queen size bed, still with ample room to move around. They have a functional hairdryer, but the power is super weak. Please also take note the bathtub can be very very slippery. Even with the bath mat, still make sure you be careful! They also have breakfast space at B1, offering a variety of food options. And please help to clear your plates after that! Overall, a pleasant stay here!

Pros Bodybuilders dream full access to World Gym which is on sight and plenty of serious weight training equipment, trainers and group fitness, breakfast buffet (although random selections) included, busy night market across the street and plenty of clothes shopping. Busy neighborhood full of young students. Cons alot of conveniences are included like free washer and dryer but the dryers can only handle light weight items and take forever to dry, simple space out your laundry during your stay, free Wi-Fi very very spotty when they are fully booked, breakfast buffet included very very limited to those who want a clean healthy first meal, and-if you stay a week you quickly get over the same choices every day, full access gym which limit one time work per day, (I’m spoiled) for those trying to do split workouts you’ll need to buy additional access. Rooms anywhere near the gym will hear the classes but the do end benefit typical bed time. Overall this by far is the most accommodating hotel experience I have in the 3 weeks in Taiwan. Have important things included helps make adventuring easier.

Initially I was fairly disappointed with Lai Lai Hotel. Summarised perks: - Lift needs card access to get to your level - Excellent location - L5 & L8 has water dispenser, free washer & dryer - There's detergent there as well. - Decent breakfast (a little different of some food each day) - Along the hotel has a NET store & convenient store - FamilyMart just round the corner. - Yizhong Night Market & Shopping district just opposite - Bus stop less than 100m - Bed feels like 2 joined Queen - Staffs (be it cafe, front desk or housekeeping) very friendly. - Got gym access What I didn't really like: - There's no toilet on L1 reception - The system might not be clear causing discrepancy. - Aircon seems to be insensitive to change. We came from an overnight flight and were exhausted. We arrived at around 11am. So the staff was very nice, process the registration, scan the passport and told us we can get our room by 12pm. So we deposited our luggage then went to grab some breakfast as we haven't eaten. Think Nina was her name. When we came back to check in, it was a different staff. Staff told us to wait till 1pm. Staff wasn't really bothered to assist us, just replied coldly, "now no room, maybe you want to deposit your luggage with us." Didn't even asked for surname/ how many nights. It's not a big deal. But I feel this could be better communicated and handled. Location was great. Just one street from Yizhong St. Night Market. Coming from Taichung Train Station was easy too. Take bus 5/25/35 and alight at Science & Technology University. Encountered with Nina again I think after her break. She checked us in & she was very clear with instructions, like B1 for breakfast , no breakfast voucher but saying the room number will do, Level 2 there's a gym.

Loved the central location. The rooms and lobby were formal, marble but a bit worn out. The rooms had initially a bit of a stale smell. But everything was very clean, friendly and functional. The breakfast was a typical Chinese middle class hotel buffet. All good. In Taiwan, i think I prefer rooms with en suite bathrooms in hostels better.

Good location as it is near bus stop, night market and department stores. Service staff are all polite, obliging and accommodative. Our family room comes with 2 big beds, balcony, ample space and 2 shower areas. Breakfast buffet and free washer/dryer provided. Only con is the hard bed but other than everything else is good. Recommended!

Stayed there for 2 nights. 4 ppl in one room. I forgot which suite it’s called but its the one with 2 queen size beds. Do not be tricked by the ghetto looks from the outside. The interior infrastructure looks fairly new and the breakfast choices is good and changes everyday. The hotel is clean and staff is really friendly. Was recommended by a relative and was not disappointed! Definitely staying there if I ever go Taichung again!! There is also a night market right across the street so it’s quite convenient. There is 7 eleven and macdonald across the street. However, not sure about the location as our relative offered to drive us around so location was not a problem.

It’s my family’s 3rd time stay at this hotel. Cannot recommend it enough. Service is amazing. Should have stayed here longer instead of other hotels. Best breakfast in our entire 4 week stay throughout Taiwan. ⭐️ variety of meat and vegetable dishes (the chefs checks the quantity often) ⭐️ green tea jelly (I always grab 3 - refreshing and light - great to have between dishes) 👎 not many western options (only toast and cereal) - mainly asian cuisine we were meant to visit Taichung at a different date however this hotel was fully booked so we changed our other hotel dates to find this hotel’s available dates to stay here!! dedicated 😂

The Elizabeth Hotel is a charming European-style property located in a great area close to everything. It offers unassuming rooms with Wi-Fi and suites with kitchenettes. The hotel is small but clean, and the staff is known for being very friendly and helpful. Guests can enjoy a free breakfast that's simple yet satisfying.
The location is near the SOGO Department store and many restaurants, very convenient. The room is spacious and the bathroom has shower and clean. The staff is very friendly. I stayed twice and in my last stay I forgot my eye drops when I left. I called the hotel from Taipei and they promptly mailed the eye drops to the hotel I was at in Taipei. They really provide good service and I will go back there.

The room is very dated. Bed is very firm. Aircon doesn’t work well. The wifi is really unstable and we are in Taiwan! Location was great but also means high traffic noise. Bathroom is noisy. Poor quality of soap and shampoo. Do provide daily water and snacks like popcorn and tea egg at the lobby. Would be 5 stars if there is some renovation done or at least, fix the wifi and invest in the room. Cups and kettles were not clean too.
Boon T — Google review
Great location and reasonable price. Perhaps not the best choice for light sleepers as noise from the street can definitely be heard even late at night, but not outrageously so. Wifi worked fine and staff was very friendly.

Staff were willing to change my reservation from a triple to a double room after my friends who were supposed to come with me couldn’t anymore. Very good location near Calligraphy Greenway and across from Sixth Market. There was a mosquito problem in my room, and I was awoken two nights in a row from their itchy bites, but they didn’t have any plug-in mosquito repellent available. They should probably look into the issue: I am wondering if the mosquitoes are coming in through the shower drain since I’m very careful about closing my room door. I could also hear stomping from upstairs in the evenings; and because it’s central, I also heard revellers yelling outside late into the night. Cute hotel at a reasonable rate though, and it had ample power outlets for me to plug in and charge all my devices.

Kiwi Express Hotel - Chenggong is a relaxed hotel located in downtown Taichung, offering simple yet comfortable rooms and a 24-hour bar. Situated just a short walk from Taichung Railway Station and Miyahara Dessert Store, the hotel's convenient location provides easy access to nearby convenience stores, supermarkets, cafes, Taichung Park, and the second market. The friendly staff are proficient in English and accommodating to guests' needs.
Nice hotel with friendly and helpful reception staff. The room was a bit small for a one week stay but manageable for one person. The free breakfast was quite good with a nice selection that changed every day. They had laundry facilities and a microwave in the lobby but I never used them.

Before arriving to the hostel I thought the price/quality was incredible. The location is on the heart pf Taichung, which is super convenient to move around. However, once I arrived to the hostel, I realized the majority of guests where homeless people. Even thought the stuff was very clean but still the smell was veey strong, plus I had to sleep facing the belongings of someone else in my head. I think people should be aware of where they are staying.

We arrive early in this hotel the staff don’t speaks English and they are not really welcoming. They trying to charge us 3 times the price than what we book online for an early check in because apparently the check in is so late 5pm so if you really tired and travel so long don’t take this place because they will not accommodate you. Or better get a one day allowance especially when you coming like is morning/lunch time

The biggest bed I've ever seen. Floor weirdly and dangerously very slippery, luckily there's the humongous bed to play the floor is lava lol Overall pretty clean Water pressure and temperature not the best. Check out is 12 which is great! Didn't get to enjoy the free breakfast though, but still nice that it's included. You can't go wrong with $842! They have 4 locations in Taichung, make sure you show up at the right one!!

It's about 10-15mins walk from the railway station depending on your pace. It's just the road opposite the taxt stand and straight down Chenggong road. Room is clean. Breakfast is fine. But the only drawback is check in time is 5pm which is very inconvenient.

Clean room and reasonably size. My room toilet has soap foam coming out from drainage. Sound proofing is poor. Surrounded by funeral services providers. Parking is a nightmare.

If I could give this place 3 and a half stars I would. It's not as low as a 3 but not quite a 4. The late check-in of 1700 is one of the latest I've experienced and inconvenient. However we were able to check-in a bit earlier and they also have a later check-out than many places I've been to in Taiwan (1200). There is a bad sewage smell emanating from their dorm floor and in the stairway. There is a bit of a weird smell from the bathroom but I don't know how to describe it and it isn't strong. Other than that facilities are clean and space is pretty good for the price. Location is about a 10 minute walk from the train station and quite close to good food.

Dubai Villa Motel offers a tranquil stay with spacious rooms equipped with work desks, minibars, and luxurious bathrooms. The hotel is conveniently located near the airport, making travel easy. Guests can enjoy the indoor pool, restaurant, and exercise room. While it's a bit far from the city center and dining options are limited nearby, the value for money is good. The breakfast is delicious and the WiFi connection is strong.
The hotel is conveniently located near the airport, making travel easy. The rooms are spacious and equipped with a work desk, a minibar for drinks, and a bathroom featuring a bathtub, a separate shower with a rainfall showerhead, and a King Size Bed. Overall, it offers good value for the price. The breakfast is delicious. Staying here alone is not a problem. I especially liked the large bathtub; it was perfect for relaxing warm baths.

An ok motel. Room is big and has a big bath tub with TV and jacuzzi. But biggest problem is for the biz suite I got no car park and I had to park opposite the road. With 2 big luggage, and 3 hand carry bags and luggage this is a pain! Will probably avoid this place next time.

We booked a king room and after they contacted us using Google translate saying that we need to check out at noon and we could check back in at 6pm. Apparently they let other people rent the room by the hour. We have a 2 year old and they never said we would have to check in and out until after we paid 3,600+ nt for the room. Plus, with Covid I don't want people to have just been in my room sleeping in the bed and everything else.... When I complained they tried to move us to a cheaper room with no refund or compensation for it being the business double which is a big step down from the king with parking underneath. They don't speak English at all and it was really frustrating.

T-Life Hostel in Longjing offers a cozy and colorful stay with mixed-gender and single-sex quarters, including a female-only communal lounge. The hostel has an adults-only atmosphere reminiscent of upscale student halls, with friendly staff who feel like respectful roommates. The shabby-chic common room is adorned with fairy lights, musical instruments, and tourist photos. Nearby attractions include Donghai Arts Shopping District and Wanhe Temple.
Absolutely incredible experience at T-Life. Solo travelling, I spent Christmas here and the staff and the owners made it truly memorable. The location is not in the centre of town but its unique area is honestly a lot better to get to know Taichung a little better and to experience true Taiwanese culture. Jinsha Shishang Motel is a spacious and pet-friendly accommodation in Taichung, perfect for families traveling with their furry friends. The rooms are large and feature expansive bathrooms with bathtubs. While there may be some minor inconveniences such as noisy air conditioning and bright lights, the overall experience is pleasant. The staff members are accommodating and the breakfast is highly recommended.
(Translated by Google) Just checked in, I heard other guests questioning me about bringing their pets to stay at the counter. I think it is unreasonable to charge cleaning fee and deposit. This way I don't have to pay if I take it back immediately. The receptionist told the customer: If you do not bring your pet, no cleaning fee or deposit will be charged. I also brought my pet to stay with me. A pet cleaning fee of $500 (non-refundable) will be charged. Add a $1,000 deposit (refundable). The deposit will be returned upon check-out if the room is not damaged. I think the charging method is reasonable. The pet enters the room and the operator is unaware of its behavior in the room. If the baby goes to bed with you, Or play with water in the bathtub in the room, These actions are all adding to the troubles of the cleaning staff. I think the cleaning fee is reasonable. The deposit will be returned after checking if the room is not damaged. This part also seems reasonable. If you encounter a baby who bites the sofa or urinates and defecates randomly, It’s not excessive to ask for compensation for the losses of the business owners… I have friends in the tourism industry. She told me many cases. Many businesses do not allow guests to bring their pets with them because there are too many reasons beyond their control. 1. The smell of your pet will remain on furniture or fabrics. 2. The same goes for your pet’s urination and defecation. It is even more troublesome if it happens on the bed or sofa (and the cleaner will step on it as soon as he enters the room). 3. Biting the pillow will damage the corner of the sofa. Anyway, a lot of strange things have happened. Accommodation with furry children, Many hotels do not accept them. If you find a hotel that can accommodate you, Very happy~ (Original)

The hotel is conveniently situated near the National Museum of Natural Science and Art Garden, making it an ideal base for exploring the area. Guests have praised the attentive staff, with one particular mention of a helpful and devoted receptionist who went above and beyond to assist a guest who had lost something in a taxi.
Beilla, best staff I have ever met, I lost my stuff on taxi and I decide to tell it to her , I told her that the stuff aren't important and it's good if I can have it back. But her actions make me stun, she was so helpful and devoted to help me even though it didn't that important. Her actions make me feel better and I won't upset if I can't have it back because she has give me another things more valuable than that.

Good service, the receptionist made means to keep us happy and well attended to, they just need more English speaking workers for foreigners. breakfast was good, but some days wasn't served at the usual serving area so that was odd, we had to go down to the reception to get it. Cleaning ladies were very punctual to always up to schedule

Don’t come here if you have other places to choose. Terrible room, noisy, out of dated, Traffic noise going on entire night. No shower curtain in bathroom. Water splashing everywhere inside shower. Paid 300 hundred American dollars for three occupancy, feeling like being robbed.

Mingao Spring Resort is a relaxed hotel with modest rooms, a restaurant, cafe, and hot spring bathhouse. The environment is comfortable and the service feels like home. However, being in a mountainous area means there are bugs flying around. Despite this, soaking in the hot springs in the room can be relaxing. Some guests have noted minor maintenance issues such as shower heads feeling fragile and cracked corners on wooden water ladles.
It's a nice family hotel. The price includes hot tub in the room. I especially like their breakfast, its homemade salad and sandwich, free flow of coffee. This hotel has no view.

Mid range hot spring hotel right next to the bus station. Rooms are rather basic with some having a private hotspring. Not entirely sure if the hotspring water is natural but it felt nice nonetheless. The rooms did lack some cleaning though. Further the doors and walls were quite paper thin as we heard other people in their rooms throughout the night. The staff were very friendly and hospitable though, and (a basic) breakfast was included.

I rushed in without saying a word. I wanted to make a reservation in advance, but the owner waited for us until after 00:00. The owner was very nice and friendly. I really give it a five-star rating. I can't give it a higher score hahahaha. One of my favorite hot springs.

Li Ti Motel is a spacious and impressive accommodation option in Taichung. While it may appear unassuming from the outside, the interior is vast and remarkable. The affordability of this motel makes it an attractive choice for visitors to the area.
From the outside, it may look plain. But inside is huge and amazing And the price is plain So it will be a good choice if u r staying in Taichung

Arrived and was told there wasn't breakfast, even though it's advertised. That was fine. Then arrive at the room. It's very old with peeling paint. Again that would have been ok. That there are visible bugs on the bedding was an issue though and then to top it off, the air conditioning doesn't work. When I called the front desk, they told me they were aware the air didn't work but they didn't care. It's 32 degrees Celsius outside and close to that inside. There's simply no way you could spend the night. I asked for my money back within a half hour of arrival. They refused. This is about as close to fraud as I imagine one could manage. Do not recommend.

(Translated by Google) You don’t have to live here yourself, but you must invite your friends to stay here! If you don't listen to the advice of others, you will suffer the consequences. Yesterday's experience was so ridiculous that I laughed out loud. I really didn't expect that there are still hotels with such quality now 🙂 But fortunately, the water pressure and temperature of the shower are quite stable. The bed is very soft but there is no problem with fleas, so it is quite comfortable to sleep. As soon as you walk in, you can see with your naked eyes that it's old. There are unknown stains on the floor, and every three steps you take, you can see dust babies hiding somewhere watching you 😃 (but the stains on the floor can be seen from poking with your feet, it's old, not unclean). There are a three-seater sofa and a one-seater sofa, a table, a fairly wide double bed, and two bedside tables that also serve as lamps, but light No. 4 was broken, and I had to turn on the lights at the counter. Is it normal for it to be so dark? Counter: Normal. The bathroom has no shower curtain or door, and the shower is quite ventilated, refreshing and refreshing. The floor tiles will give you the swinging experience of a surfboard when you take a shower. There will also be a very moving accompaniment when you take a bath, and it will give you the visual effect of a water curtain cave from time to time. There are many entertainment programs~ The only thing I am satisfied with is the shower gel and shampoo in the bathroom. They are really well chosen, with the smell I like, and my hair doesn’t feel dry after washing👍 (Original)

After parking, I discovered the rear compartment was stuck on the sloping wall of the stairs, but the tire was perfectly still on the wheel chock. If I hadn't told them, I'd have thought it had been hit by Thor's hammer. I reported this to the staff, but they blamed us for not checking the rearview mirror. "Is our car a bumper car?" "Don't check the rearview mirror when parking, or do you have to look in a magic mirror?" The collision site was bruised, yet they said even trucks wouldn't have this problem. Recently I book a room with this motel for my friend’s family through Priceline. 1st they state we can’t check in until 10:00pm then when we did check in at 10:00pm they start to give all sort of different excuses not giving us a room. In the end they gave our room away and we have to try to find a hotel room at 11:00pm. The staffs were rude and one of the men were even trying to stare me down. If you don’t like the length of the article, please don’t read it. Just take the last time and rest for 3 hours 1580 The price is mid-to-high for this area. The magic is!!!! Been to so many motels Only this counter doesn’t have uniforms and doesn’t know how to salute. Because the room was still being cleaned, we waited outside the garage. The housekeeping staff are very dedicated and will not clean randomly because of guests. Even the garage and stairs are very clean. And this time the stairs have anti-slip tape, extra points. The housekeeping staff who came to inform me were very nice. He even bowed and apologized for keeping us waiting. It's just that when you step on the wooden floor upstairs, there is a strange sound. Creaking noise and height difference This kind of quality is a bit disappointing for the price. After all, there are no other facilities, only a SPA bathtub But the bathroom is clean and not moldy And there is no water in the bathroom of the room that was just cleaned. I really admire this. Even the details are handled very well. And the towels are also placed in the basket (they were hung on the shelf before) Although there are no bathroom accessories, after asking for them at the counter, they will be sent to the first floor without adding a price. It is very considerate. It's already night to check out When I arrived at the counter, there was no staff standing at the door to greet me. We even had to shout to check out before we slowly walked over. I took the room card and pulled it with such force that it felt like I was being robbed. Is this attitude really suitable for being a counter???? It’s really ironic that the housekeeping staff in the afternoon are better than the front desk lady😡 Ask your boss to give the housekeeping staff a raise And would you like to review the attitude of the counter staff? Will visit again next time and hope to see significant improvements. One star is deducted for the counter. It’s really stupid.
