Bar
Nestled on Shwegondaing Road, Vista Bar is a must-visit rooftop destination for anyone looking to soak in the breathtaking views of the iconic Shwedagon Pagoda. Open until 1 am, this vibrant spot is perfect for those late-night drinks while enjoying the stunning sight of the pagoda illuminated at night. The atmosphere here can be described as lively and energetic, thanks to its close-knit seating arrangement that fosters a buzzing vibe—ideal for socializing or simply soaking up the ambiance.
The food was very good and the view was amazing.
Jasper J — Google review
Perfect view to see Shwedagon Pagoda in the night. It is a good place for chilling with your friends on the rooftop. Music is very good. Beer and food are acceptable but sometimes, some items in menu are not served. Price is reasonable. We paid 70,000kyats for more ten cups of beer and 6 dishes. Spacious space, no noise. Parking is not available - you have to park on the street.
Kim T — Google review
It's one of the few bars that plays slow and soft beat music. Mostly they play Westlife (Band) songs and other slow beat pop songs. So you can have a peaceful conversation with anyone you go with. Only give three stars because it has downsides. One of the things is it has no parking space. So you have to find an unsafe place to drop your car. Another bad thing is that the elevator is not usable. Since it is a rooftop bar, you can have some good scenery. You can see the Shwe Dagon pagoda clearly but another downside is that there is also a building beside which is higher and it makes you unable to watch the sunset from the bar. When talking about food and beverages, it's ok to eat. The price of the drinks ranges from $4-7. Services are good and I'll give 4 out of 5.
David P — Google review
One of the three well known sky bars located in and around the Shwedagon Pagoda, Vista stands true to its name and certainly offers the most iconic view of the Pagoda. Vista is located about 4 floors up from its street side entrance and consists of 2 terraces, one such terrace offers that highly compelling view of the Shwedagon. During the dry season this terrace is open air (during rainy season it is enclosed by a canopy) and consists of three rows of seats and tables across. The terrace is serviced by two bars, one at either end. Modern commercial music like Demi Lovato was playing but the volume was thankfully not over powering. However, there were no prices on the menu, I recommend asking for the prices before committing to a purchase. Tiger draft was MMK 1,500. Also, since the signature of Vista is its view of the Pagoda, it was annoying that there were many staff members who continuously blocked the view either by walking around without purpose or by just standing and hence blocking the view of the Pagoda. All in all, certainly a place to check out for some nice night time photos of the Shwedagon Pagoda while enjoying a nice cold beer. However, there is very little alternative views (like a downtown skyline) to see from Vista. In my experience, a beer or two was sufficient before moving on.
AJ M — Google review
Probably the best roof top bar view of Shwedagon in Yangon... Decent food and drinks at fair prices. Music needs improvement to lift the vibe but food and drinks are ok. Walk up stairs are a bit of a hassle Vs the new Freesia rooftop bar next door which has an elevator (but less impressive view). But overall a nice chill place to hang out and bring visitors wanting a nice nighttime view.
BK B — Google review
One of good bar in Yanggon with the view of Shwedagon Pagoda at the night time. Good to hangout with the friends after office of weekend. There are some improvements required such as toilet not clean and no light when I'm there and also bar is to dark, it hard to see the food or menu so have to use LED light from mobile phone.
Binod O — Google review
Love the scenery which can view the night of Shwe Dagon Pagoda but is too dark to enjoy ur meal. The meal in the menu not available sometimes. Hope to improve the some desk light or candle.
Tan Y — Google review
A little bit rundown but view is ok. Maybe better without the low roof to keep out the rain. Happy hour with buy one get one is a plus.

Gekkō Restaurant is a cozy Japanese-inspired yakitori grill and whisky bar located in the historic Sofaer Building, once a bustling hub of Baghdadi-Jewish family enterprise in Rangoon. The restaurant boasts beautiful floor tiles from Manchester and historical photographs adorning its walls. With an open bar serving Asian bar bites and a drinks list consulted by Singapore's renowned 28 Hong Kong Street, Gekkō offers strong libations.
Amazing! Just what we needed after the journey through Myanmar. Warm welcome, nice cold beer on tap and an amazing Japanese whiskey collection. The staff were great and hospitable and accommodated special requests. The food was great but definitely a bit pricey. Happy Hour was good but only for drinks, no food specials. Ambiance and decor were spot on and a nice change of pace. We feasted and it was well worth it. I'd recommend the place!

Joined the welcome back party of Group Bar manager Puia! Since Gekko in downtown, cocktails crafted by Puia were always different from other places. If you are looking for a good cocktail place, just follow where Puia works 😊😊😊 Gekko updated menu has lots of varieties of dishes even pizza, spaghetti in addition to their japanese menu. Teppanyaki in malar snd spicy sauces were really good. Black angus beef was tender and juicy, sashimi was so fresh!!! I would give overall score 3.5 because i missed the old gekko vibes 🤣🤣🤣 food and drinks were up to my palate though.
Ei N — Google review
Might be cool place in the evening as they have outdoor seatings which obviously you can’t sit during the day with Yangon weather. The seatings inside are abit dark however the service is good. The waitress was helpful even though she looks new to the service industry. They play music loud perhaps they reduced the volume down when we requested. The food was ok. The ramen was salty despite being requested to reduce the saltiness.
Ei A — Google review
This new location, situated in the spacious compound of Golden Valley, is a great improvement over their previous location. The food has definitely improved, and their signature cocktails were also delicious. While the servers were attentive, I did notice that the furniture upstairs was being moved quite roughly while we were sitting downstairs, which was a bit of a distraction. Nonetheless, I would still recommend checking out this spot! In a colonial building with high ceiling. The service was very nice. Ramen and cocktails were nice. Hope the food portions would be larger xD
Patricia — Google review
One of the best meals we had in Myanmar. In a very nice Location, with great music. So go and enjoy the Gekko would be our verdict! Try the original new takes on classic drinks (Gekko G&T and Gekko Mojito), the main courses and desserts. We were not disappointed at all. The price level is higher than average, but so is the standard of food and service
Matthias B — Google review
Hello, again. Firstly, this Gekko restaurant is the same as Parami Pizza restaurant. Not many people knew and I recently found out about it. In Google map, it is written Gekko but all pizzas from parami pizza menu are available. So, let me share my review. I hope this helps for your future references. Car parking: it is okay for 5-6 cars. When it is crowded, you will have to park outside in the street. Food: I ordered a pizza of 2 toppings - cheese pizza and mushroom pizza. It took about 40 minutes for the pizza to come. The taste is the most similar to authentic Italian cheese pizza. You can say it is a brother to a real Italian pizza (this is what an Italian said) lol.. from my asian review, it tasted simple and delicious. Atmosphere: since I dined at an indoor table, it was dark and small. Honestly, they could decorate it in lighter and more positive version. I felt it had negative vibes since it was dark and quiet. No windows. Service: the waiters are friendly. They smile and they are ready to assist you at any time. Overall, it was pretty good. I had a good experience with the food and the car parking space (it was not crowded). The location was easy to be found in Google map. The pizza was amazing. I wish they had done the place a bit brighter so that it brings more coziness and light in the place. Hope my review helps. Chao!

Superb, a warm welcome with a cold towel. Take a break from the hot colonial history outside to the new Burmese avant-garde in this modern yet classy take on a Japanese styled bar restaurant. From the leather saddle seats to the soft elegant lighting this place seduces you away from the culture and history outside the door. Menu is really nice take on Japanese fusion.
Fintan K — Google review
Loved this place! Should be on your top three list of spots to hit when in Yangon. The atmosphere is really cool and perfect for a cozy and stylish evening. Make a reservation in advance because it is a popular spot. The warm sake and the craft cocktails are highly recommended. The Korean chicken, the fried chicken and the Edamame should be on your list. The service was good and the food was really good Couple -'s We were decapointed in the tofu rice dish, no taste. We wish that the staff would have been better at refilling drinks or asking if we wanted more.

Yangon, formerly known as Rangoon, is the largest city in Myanmar and was its capital until 2006. The city boasts a mix of British colonial architecture, modern high-rises, and gilded Buddhist pagodas that define its skyline. Shwedagon Paya, a shimmering pagoda complex, is a major pilgrimage site drawing thousands of visitors annually. Other notable religious sites include the Botataung and Sule pagodas which house Buddhist relics.

Cocktail bar
Blind Tiger is a trendy cocktail bar nestled in downtown Yangon, Myanmar. Since its launch in 2014 and relocation to the city center in 2016, it has become a hotspot for cocktail aficionados. The bar's name pays homage to speakeasy bars during the American Prohibition era, and its interiors are adorned with local artworks available for purchase.
Jan’ 25: The vibe at this new location is completely different from the previous one. The bar was packed with young people, and the bartenders were making cocktails nonstop. The menu was reasonably priced. I didn’t care much for the mushroom salad, though. The Old Fashioned was on point! Update: The cocktail class was so much fun! The bartender was very enthusiatic and telented. They taughed 3 kinds of cocktail and final one is own receipe competition. Winner get a bottle of wine as reward. Got a glass of Kalay pop cocktail for complimentary drink in Jul 22. Cute small cozy bar with friendly staffs. The complimentary snacks were nice too. Old fashion was superb!
Patricia — Google review
Loving the vibe of this place! Great music and atmosphere! Cocktails are pretty good as well! Definitely a good place to drink and dine with your friends. It’s a speakeasy bar but not too difficult to find with Google map. Would recommend the “Old Fashioned”.
Kenny N — Google review
It is bar but vibe looks like club. Just go and check it out once. You will know it how it is. F&B is no need to mention over again. It is already tasty. 😋
Poeeiaung N — Google review
Nice hamburger, Very good myanmar draft beer. A little bit pricy, but good for last night in Myanmar, if you wanna end up with your trip in here.
Samuel Y — Google review
A chic, discreet cocktail bar tucked away in the small lanes of Yangon. Great finger food, infused gins, burmese rum, and magnificent cocktails. Perfect for late night chats or a dim rendezvous!
Su L — Google review
From the outside the street seems quiet and innocuous. The bar itself, lit by a neon sign from the outside seems quietly tucked away and hidden. The charm of Hidden Tiger is in the excitement in opening the heavy and inconspicuous door which transports you from a quiet, empty and dimly lit Yangon street into an exciting bar which bears decor similar to a 1920s style speakeasy but with a Chinesesque flare. The bar is cosy and fun although a bit on the expensive side. The menu caters to many interests from cocktails to wine to beer. The music, while modern can be quite loud impairing conversation at times. A good bar for small groups of people. Recommended if you want to experience a change from Yangon's beer stations. All in all, guaranteed to be a fun experience going back in time, even if only for a couple of hours.
AJ M — Google review
Great service and great and strong cocktails! Loved to decor. Happy hour drinks from 5-7pm for house wines and house cocktail (not sure what it was but it was tasty!)

Bar
Restaurant
Located on the 12th floor of the Uniteam Building in Sanchaung Township, Atlas Rooftop Bar & Lounge offers a stunning panoramic view of Yangon, including the iconic Shwedagon Pagoda. This award-winning restaurant serves a unique blend of local and international cuisines. The bar is renowned for its well-crafted drinks made with fresh local ingredients and quality spirits.
A friend held his wedding reception cum dinner there and I must say he chose the right place. You can view beautiful sunset, especially during the cool winter period from Nov to Jan, enjoying canapés and admiring the Shwedagon Pagoda a distance away. I will recommend this place for events. It's rather private as it's located at the roof-top of a commercial building, just a few minutes walk from the main road. It's opposite the Asia Royal Hospital in case you don't know how to pronounce Pan Hliang Street, and it's easy to tell the taxi.
Josephine O — Google review
Atlas Rooftop Bar & Lounge is at the top floor (12F) of the Uniteam building in Yangon. It offers a really (!!!) great view of the city and most especially of Shwedagon Pagoda at night. The cocktails are good, but needs a bit more kick of alcohol in it. Was surprised a sisig fusion dish was in the menu, so we ordered it. Probably, it has been changed to suit Burmese taste, but I didn’t taste any of the Filipino sisig I was looking for. But what made the night incredible was the overall vibe of the place. Really chill place to be in plus the DJ!!! The DJ was amazing with his really cool mix! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Janno — Google review
It's such an awesome spot! Fantastic view of the Shwedagon! Lovely lounges / seating areas to take in the views... hosted parties are a little pricey... 100,000MMK to enter... but very worthwhile as the djs are great and the atmosphere is lively! Check the weather before going (not raining)...as this determines how busy/ popular it'll be... Drinks and food are a bit pricey, but to be expected... lovely cocktails!
Cindy N — Google review
It’s sad to see how Atlas changed ! The drinks became so expensive yet they did not have cranberry juice for cosmopolitan. One page of snack menu and that’s all you can get to eat. Ordered chicken skewers and the chicken was pre cooked. The whole user experience wasn’t good as the POS did not work to pay with MPU or Visa cards. They only have Kpay which is a bit disappointing for the people who do not use Kpay.
Ei A — Google review
Great view over Yangon downtown and has an excellent vibe. Good beer and actually you can order food from German restaurant - Mahlzeit downstairs. I do not recommend cheese fondue from there because it wasn't acceptable at all. Sausage platter was alright. One of good rooftop bar you can go in Yangon.
Taeyoung K — Google review
Great place to chill. Limited food options but the atmosphere is great and great service.
Gorav M — Google review
Nice rooftop bar to wind down after sunset. It felt more spacious than some of the other rooftop bars I visited. You can also order food from Mahlzeit German restaurant on the first floor to enjoy with draft beer.
Yoo K — Google review
Best place for an evening out with friends. I would prefer they have a proper food menu, but I guess they wanted us to enjoy the drinks and the spectacular view. Recommend to take a bottle of wine and some platter

The Basement is an underground restaurant in Yangon that has a dive bar feel to it at first, but later turns into a small nightclub with DJ music. The menu focuses on fresh ingredients sourced from the local market every morning, and they have a commendable list of classic cocktails.
Nice little bar in Yangon's Chinatown with awesome music mix & great sound system. Food: The beef steak & pork chops are highly recommended. Overall: worth a visit when you are in the vicinity...
Dan T — Google review
Basement Bar delivers a hybrid bar / house party / nightclub experience the likes of which is uncommon to the Yangon nightlife scene. As the name suggests 'Basement' is located 1 floor below its ground entrance. Coming in from the street entrance the walk past a small corridor and into the bar below is an exciting experience in and of itself. I went on a Saturday night and there was a DJ playing. The bar was pretty busy but started to kick off from about 10:00pm. On another Saturday night there was a live band playing mostly Burmese songs. Basement has a distinctive 'H' design where the DJ was in the right side and patrons were in the left side room. I feel that the bar could make more use of its space and perhaps include high stools and/or tables in the DJ room as it was open and unused space making the other room packed. Also, I feel that some bar stools at the bar would be a welcome addition since there were none there, and, at 10:00 pm on a Saturday night seats are much needed. In the absence of bar stools, lone patrons really have no option on where to sit as the seats and tables generally cater to group arrangements. I ordered a Myanmar beer for MMK1,500. This was served in a plastic cup. I feel that the plastic cups take away from the bar experience and glasses would have been better. The bar has only one toilet, given the amount of patrons, more toilets would be welcomed All in all, I believe that if and when licensing restrictions on opening hours are relaxed, the Yangon nightlife culture expands and if a few improvements (such as those mentioned above) are made, then Basement Bar will surely offer a top class underground bar/nightclub experience.
AJ M — Google review
Not expensive, reasonable cocktails from 4000 kyats, nice vibe and chatter. Friendly service too. Please, please, please: stop the smoke! We had to leave, it was just too smokey to stay for more than 15 minutes. If that's the local culture, then so be it, but for the sake of the health of your visitors, please install extractor fans or stop smoking in a confined space. It's not good for your employees health who work in this environment all day and night.
Ian B — Google review
You never forget a first. It was our first beer in Myanmar after a 36 hour trip. Came down and realised we hit the jackpot. Because if anything says Good night with a capital g, it's a nice environment, nice smiling hosts some nice bites and a tall pitcher of cool brew. Came there twice more and always left in a good mood.
Urban L — Google review
Underground bar - low ceiling, dark, smoky and very loud bands. Have to be the special kind of people looking for such places in order to enjoy it fully. Live music over weekends, usually local rock band. Beer in plastic cups or bottles, cash only
Yassen T — Google review
Very nice place to hang out with friends. Luckily we ended up with live band and we got great time. Price is very reasonable and foods are also above the average. Definitely we will go back there when we get a chance.
Gorden L — Google review
This place was pretty terrible. Music was waaaay too loud, and not that great tbh. The service was also kind of trash—asked three times to get the bill before we finally had to go to the front to force our money upon them (so that we could escape and save our ears from bleeding as quickly as possible).
Daniel J — Google review
This place is actually really badass. Great night club vibe with a great DJ. If not for the 11pm curfew I could see this becoming one of the pioneering bars in the Yangon night scene. Westerners welcome.

Rangoon Tea House in Yangon is the perfect spot if you’re looking for a high-quality restaurant to try Burmese cuisine. The food is absolutely delicious, served in a beautiful and stylish setting. In addition to Burmese dishes, the menu also offers Chinese and other international options, along with a great selection of cocktails. Everything I tried here was exceptional, both food and drinks. The service was a bit slow, but the overall experience was still fantastic. I can wholeheartedly recommend it for anyone visiting Yangon!

5 stars Absolutely loved my experience at Rangoon Tea House! The atmosphere is beautiful and welcoming, with a great mix of modern and traditional Burmese style. The food was delicious — full of flavor and clearly made with care. I especially enjoyed the tea selection and the thoughtful presentation of every dish. Service was friendly and professional throughout. One of the best places to eat in Yangon — highly recommended! There is also a smoking section by the outside table eating area.

A nice place for all day dinings. Variety of food from Chinese dim sum, Burmese food, and international breakfast. They are famous for tea and tea leaves. Cheesecake is also recommended.

Probably the best Burmese food restaurant you’ll have in downtown Yangon. They also have Indian cuisine-influenced food including bacon & cheese samosa, which I can’t get enough of, and chicken biryani. I also had crispy pork bowl and it was divine. Finished the entire bowl! Spent ~90k mmk on my meal but that was definitely for sharing! I wasnt able to finish the biryani. Preferably, you visit this place with family or friends and enjoy the food because the portions are definitely for sharing. :)

This is a fusion-style restaurant offering a mix of Burmese local dishes, Indian cuisine, and items similar to Cantonese-style tea house fare. They play traditional Burmese music in the background, giving the place a nostalgic and cultural atmosphere. The restaurant is housed in a two-story wooden building with a spacious layout, creating a grand and open feel. It has a classic charm with a touch of local character. Aside from being a bit noisy, the overall environment is quite nice — I would rate the ambiance between 4 and 4.5 stars. As for the food, the portions are quite small and the prices are on the higher side, so the value for money is relatively low. I'd rate the food around 3.5 stars. If the pricing were more reasonable, it could deserve 4 stars. The service is decent. The staff speak English, and there’s an English menu available. However, the Wi-Fi is basically unusable. Service overall can be rated 4 stars. In summary: Food: 3.5–4 stars (due to small portions and high prices) Service: 4 stars Environment: 4–4.5 stars (minus some points for noise) Overall: 4 stars

And incredible restaurant in central Yangon. I had heard a lot about this place in blogs online and it lived up to expectations. I went in the evening and vibe was chill, low mood lighting, art in the walls, wooden decor. The cocktail list was long, I tried several and they were all delicious. Menu was modern take on Burmese food. Highly recommend the pork noodles and tea infused cocktails. Staff were attentive and friendly, service was quick. Learned a lot about the history of the restaurant and of the city while there too!

As a foreigner in Myanmar amidst some uncertainty, Rangoon Tea House was a comforting gem in the heart of Yangon! The tea and food here are absolutely top-notch — easily the best I’ve had in the city. I especially loved the mohinga — rich, flavourful, and authentic. The ambience is stylish yet relaxed, and the service was warm and welcoming. If (and when) I return to Myanmar, this will definitely be one of my first stops again!

During my recent adventure in Yangon, I stumbled upon the delightful Union Bar & Grill, a gem that has been making waves in the local dining scene since its inception three years ago. This casual yet vibrant spot is perfect for those seeking a break from traditional cuisine. With an inviting atmosphere and a menu brimming with mouthwatering options, it’s no wonder this place has become a favorite among locals and travelers alike.
Great place to hang out and chill. Pool table, live music sometimes, table football. Has a 5-7pm happy hour. Food and drink reasonable priced. Service absolutely fantastic

I always try not to compare the taste of food here with what I've had in better places. While the food is tasty, it doesn't quite stand out. Unfortunately, our order was missed, which was disappointing. It would be helpful if the order taker repeated the order to avoid such issues, so I don't end up waiting for food that never arrives while everyone else finishes their meal. The nachos were just floury and lacked the flavor that nachos should have. The pumpkin soup was a bit too sweet and not the thick, finely blended soup I was expecting. On the bright side, the pizza was decent and met the standard. Interestingly, they sell vapes here too! Unlike some places that put stickers on the bill after payment, this one just gave me back my change & receipt without the stickers. ⸻ Would you like to add anything else or make further adjustments?

Just checking out a few places in Yangon. This is a really nice bar , lots of space , great service and I had a snack which was very tasty. I left around 7.30 pm and the lance was till quite empty. Maybe it will get busy later. I would imagine this is a great bar when it’s busy . Will definitely visit again.

Wow, amazing restaurant. Top for taste, taste in food, taste in beverages, taste in decor, taste in music, all delivered by attentive, polite and efficient staff. Catering western cuisine, but doing it brilliantly, the Union Burger, is exceptional, not just by Myanmar standards or Asian standards, this is a world class burger, it tastes great. This place has put a very big smile on my face for the rest of the day. Note to owner, don't change a thing! This is a large spacious redtaurant tastefully decorated, two story frontage floods in natural light in the afternoon making it a very pleasant spot, afternoon or evening. Union is easy to find, just down the street from the famous Strand Hotel facing the harbour.

You can have specific cocktails here, a bit expensive though. Please dun try Phat Thai here. Seems like they dun know what it is and it is just like normal fried noodle except bean sprouts included. Food is very normal and nothing special. Portion is very little compared to price. Snail soup is only one thing which makes me feel delicious. Drinks are also expensive. But staffs’ service is good luckily. But you can see very beautiful sunset here.

My first time visiting this lounge. The customer service and hospitality of the waitress are on some level. I enjoyed their service and clever explanation to menus. Or maybe because we are the celeb table? The decorations are good also the retractable roof. We often ask them to roll back and roll forward, because when there is rain and when it's not rain it's getting hot. And they carefully served as we wished for. The drinks, the cocktails are really great. Aslo the price is high. Menus prices are spicy. Got some more money before you come! Whatever, for sometimes happiness, let's make it worth it. The sound system and the music is a little weird to me. The volume is not stable. Sometimes it get too low, sometimes it's getting higher. I recommend the playlist also need to be active and popular or club music. Sad thing is I don't remember what I drink that night. Over all the food, drink and service is great.

SEEDS Restaurant & Lounge 🐈‍⬛ This restaurant was recommended to us to visit, and it didn’t disappoint. A fine dining close to nature, a welcoming resident cat called Prince, exquisite dishes, professional hospitality team, and generous Chefs! I like how the infused spirits were displayed. The view of the garden by the lake. Surprisingly, the cat is from Malaysia and the European owners of this restaurant used to live in Borneo. What a serene late afternoon for The Grumps, where no grumping to look for. Hence, a peaceful day to nestle back to our hotel with contentment. #iamkbonita #SEEDSrestaurantandlounge #myanmar

The restaurant is set in the most lovely location right by Inya Lake, and diners could take it all in from the comfort of the air-conditioned indoor sitting area thanks to the ceiling-to-floor glass windows. The 3-course set lunch at US$29 is a steal, and there were complimentary amuse bouche and petit fours as well as a box of chocolates to bring home. The dishes were well executed, but my favourite was the 3 different types of bread that they served. The cocktail was great too. The wait staff were attentive and the chef even came to greet us.

Seeds Restaurant & Lounge: A Perfect Night for an Anniversary We chose Seeds Restaurant & Lounge to celebrate our 19th anniversary, and honestly, it was the perfect choice. This is fine dining done right, but without any stuffiness. The Sunset View and Romantic Setting The location on the West Bank of Inya Lake is just incredible. Watching the amazing, beautiful sunset over the water while we were having our dinner felt like pure magic. The team went all out for our anniversary—our special table was scattered with red and pink rose petals, lit by soft candlelight, and featured a lovely single rose in a vase. It created this incredibly cozy, romantic atmosphere that was perfect for us. Food, Cocktails, and the Cheese Trolley! Before dinner, we hit the cocktails. Seriously, try their cocktails! The YGN in particular was a major highlight—we just loved it. For the meal, we went with the Element and Sunshine set menus and everything was delicious. We had two great starters, a main (the beautifully plated beef and asparagus dish was a highlight!), and finished with the cheese platter and sweets. The European-style dishes were expertly prepared and plated—it’s obvious that so much care goes into the food. It tastes so good and works well for Asian palates, too. The moment when the staff rolled out the cheese trolley for the platter was such a classic fine-dining touch and a real treat! The Service is the Best Part The cozy atmosphere and tasty dishes were great, but the staff? They were the jewel of the crown. They knew it was our anniversary and totally spoiled us! They set up the special table and surprised us with a lovely cake, chocolate, and a song! It truly made our 19th anniversary one we won't forget. A special shout out to Nickolas—he was fantastic, so warm and attentive, and made us feel so special all night. If you’re looking for a world-class experience with amazing food, an unbelievable view, and genuinely thoughtful service for a special occasion, book Seeds. You won't regret it.

If we had eaten lunch or had a proper meal, then it would have been better. We opted for afternoon tea vibe with desserts & coffee ☕️. The desserts were just okay. Cocktail is okay too. But the most disappointing was coffee ☕️ especially the cup & also the taste of Latte. Pls upgrade your coffee cups to proper ones & probably use a better coffee espresso machine. $9 for a latte coffee is a put off ….. least to say it tastes like instant + milk mix in terms of taste profile. But the view of the venue is good & has a chill vibe. Service was good too. Kind & friendly staffs.

When exploring the vibrant culinary scene of Yangon, one cannot overlook Shan Yoe Yar, a gem that showcases the rich tapestry of Shan cuisine. While many may associate this delightful fare with its famous rice noodles, Shan food offers an array of tantalizing dishes that go far beyond. At Shan Yoe Yar, diners can indulge in a variety of flavors—from savory dried meats to spicy curries and refreshing pounded salads—making it a true feast for the senses.
I must admit, Burmese cuisine has never been my favorite due to its often sharp and pungent aromas. However, being here, I decided to take a leap of faith and try some local dishes based on a recommendation. The grounded eggplants were a pleasant surprise, bursting with flavor and a hint of herbs. They smelled wonderful too. The chicken in sweet and sour sauce reminded me of Chinese cuisine. Personally, I think the dish would have been even better with pork instead of chicken, as the texture would be more fitting. The stir-fried vegetables were simple yet delicious, perfectly cooked. The soup was a revelation, offering a complex flavor profile with layers of herbs. It was unlike anything I had ever tasted before, with a delightful mix of spices, sourness, and sweetness that was truly appetizing. Dessert was an unexpected adventure. Despite its Parmesan-like aroma, it turned out to be fermented glutinous rice balls with black rice, eggs, sugar, and Chinese wine. It was out of the ordinary and quite intriguing! Lastly, a special mention to the waitress who was incredibly kind and helpful, advising me on the dishes to prevent over-ordering. This culinary journey in Burma was definitely worth the leap of faith!
Se L — Google review
During a recent summer holiday to Myanmar, my family and I had the pleasure of dining at Shan Yoe Yar, a renowned restaurant specializing in traditional dishes from the Shan ethnic group. Located on the second floor of the former Traders Hotel, the restaurant offers a delightful escape from the hustle and bustle of downtown Yangon, blending culture with culinary authenticity. From the moment we entered, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the tone for our meal. The rustic wooden decor, coupled with traditional Shan artifacts, created a sense of cultural immersion that was both charming and comfortable. As for the food, Shan Yoe Yar did not disappoint. The menu boasted a rich variety of Shan specialties, each dish bursting with unique flavors and textures that reflect the region's rich heritage. We started with the Shan noodle salad, which was refreshingly light yet packed with a harmonious blend of tangy and savory flavors. The tofu fritters, crispy on the outside and soft within, were equally delightful, especially when paired with their house-made dipping sauces. The highlight of our meal was the Moo Hin Gar, a classic Shan fish soup that stood out for its depth of flavor. The delicate balance of spices and the freshness of the ingredients showcased the chef's commitment to preserving the authenticity of Shan cuisine. Additionally, the portion sizes were generous, making it a fulfilling dining experience. While the food was excellent, the service could have been slightly more attentive. The staff were polite and welcoming, but there were moments where we felt they were a bit understaffed, leading to some delays. That said, the overall experience was still highly enjoyable, and the relaxed pace gave us time to truly savor each dish. Shan Yoe Yar is a must-visit for anyone wanting to experience the rich flavors of Myanmar's Shan region. The combination of an inviting ambiance, authentic cuisine, and a prime location makes it a dining spot worth adding to your itinerary. A solid four-star experience that left us wanting to explore more of Myanmar’s culinary treasures.

Good food but expensive pricing, located in an upscale shopping mall linked to a hotel. Impeccable service, food came out quickly and staff were quick to respond and were helpful. Portion size for vegetables were slightly small. Love the egg and seafood dish which the waiter recommended.

First experience with Shan state's food. Although the ingredients are common such as corn, mung beans, egg plants and rice, the process taken to cook the dishes is laborious. Set meals at affordable prices are available. Must try if you are in Yangon, Myanmar. Price may be comparatively steeper than the foodstalls in the city. Restaurant environment is clean and waiting staff is attentive.

One of the best local food in Yangon. They serve food from Shan State, a minority group in Myanmar, we love the sea bass on tamarind sauce and the eggplant curry. Their version of mashed potato is also good. It's always full in lunch time, i suggest making a reservation.

Visited for Yunan hotpot happy hour. 25% discount on every Sunday in July. Even the small pot which cost 35,000 mmk is enough for 3/4 person. Premium shan food. The resturant decoration is elegant and staffs are helpful. The taste of the dishes are on point. Price is a bit high for Shan food but worth paying.
Patricia — Google review
Simply superb. Was apprehensive to try Shan cuisine but after tasting it, I was amazed. The flavours are very unique. It's hard to compare it to other types of Asian cooking ~ ie Thai, Malay, Indian or Chinese. I guess it's the nature of the spices and ingredients they use that gives Shan food an interesting taste signature. The Shan chicken curry is a hot-and-sour delight. A must try is the Fish in Bamboo leaves, simply yummy. The steamed mushroom is also pretty delicious. The best dish for us was the crispy pork rinds ~ it comes with bits of fat and meat on each piece, and melts on your mouth. Even the simple mixed vegetables was good. The sauce is very tangy with a zing. One unique dish that I found strange was the pounded bananna buds, eaten with a twist of lime. The fish soup was ok, came with an extremely bitter spice condiment. It combined well to highlight the taste. Lastly, everything was washed down with the excellent but under-rated Myanmar larger beer. Two thumbs up. Highly recommended.

View. View is the first thing to say about this place. It is really good!! I mean, its not too often you get amazing view from toilet! The view is so good even from toilet, that make u want to go to toilet deliberately. Also, good food and service as well. It's good for friends, chilling out with ur mates or just come with your partner as a date. Even though it aims towards a casual audience, going with family is definitely an option, a good option. Food i had was good, drinks are plenty of variety, I did not try drinks since I went there for lunch with family. I was late to the party so I didn't get food photos, except mine, pork ribs. Portion was huge, definitely enough for one, can even share. Parking is limited, but there is a few security personnel who will help you get a spot. They do have basement parking but it is reserved for hotel and residents. This is located on the top of a hotel, and is accessed by a single lift, so heavy traffic then u have to wait a bit for the lift. Nothing horrible, just a bit of the wait. The place has good vibe, can definitely check it out.

If you want to have international cuisines in one place, it's a must to go. Lots of seat choices. The interior design incorporates a blend of modern and traditional elements, creating a cozy ambiance. The rooftop setting provides an open and airy atmosphere. Great for both casual meetings and romantic dates.

Yankin Heights offer mix of some Western and Asian dish. You park the car on the street side and take an elevator to go to the top of the building where it is located. The place offers some wine and some drink menu. Outdoor seating is available but not recommended for more than 3 person as more people would block the walkway. The kitchen closes at 7 pm... Food taste - Above average Price - Above average Experience - Above average Service - OK Parking - roadside

Food is cheap and extremely high-quality. Waiters are courteous. Rooms are good and clean. A bit hot outside - better book Grab even before you go down. There's only one elevator - may need to wait for a few mins.

Step into the retro ambiance of The Radio Bar, a popular spot in Yangon where you can unwind with friends and family. With its open-plan mezzanine level offering a view of live band performances on stage, it's no wonder that this '50s style bar is bustling, especially on weekends. While the food menu may not be extensive, the reasonably priced and delicious dishes make for a satisfying experience.
very good place to chill with family and friends. Especially for oldies who love music. food menu is not too many but all food are greats and resonable prices. Staffs are really nice and helpful. Tue and thu is band sing myanmar oldies song. Wed is for girl night song and fri and sat ia rock band . all bands are really nice

In 2024, the vibe remains old as always. Avoid the dish called Royal Nacho - it's just crispy prata skins costing 12,000, which we couldn't even eat and had to return. On a positive note, we loved the Zayan tea leaf salad among the tea leaf salads. This place is so much fun!!!! The cocktail are amazing and food were nice as well. The band is the highlight of this place. Such a very cool place to have fun with friends.

Good place to chill with friends and colleagues. Place is a bit small and sitting plan is a bit packed. Music is too loud for me, singers and songs are good though. Cannot say about price as I went there for farewell and we are served with buffet dinner. But food here is tasty and recommend to try once. Mutton and tea leaf salad is really nice ones.

A bar with music for 40+ or 50+ Ideal place for lady drinkers and oldies gathering. Live music band is good enough for oldies songs and food taste are also good enough. To get a table, reservation required.

It's a bar that caters to somewhat of an adult population. It have a great atmosphere with a live band playing every night. The songs they play changes depending on the day. You can also request songs by writing it on a tissue and passing it onto a waiter. The food itself is great as well with decent price. If you are looking for a good time with live music, the crowd signing along, and generally having a blast during any day of the week? This is the place to be.

Grab a seat. They won’t charge you any entry fee to get in. Get yourself a fine glass of wine in the Wine Tasting room. Or if you feel like vibing, you can just go upstairs and treat yourself with some 90’s jam by the incredible unplugged bands. Myanmar’s Famous singer/song writers perform there occasionally. Embrace the night life of Yangon and enjoy some traditional appetizers. Friendly advice tho, don’t go there at weekdays. It’s a pretty much boring place except for the weekends.

One of the famous bar in yangon, Great place for hanging out. Ground floor is too crowded, it have live-band so music was loud, you can't make conversation easily. Outdoor and Indoor seating is available on 2 floor. There is a pool table and football table it can be played free. Good service by friendly staff. Food taste are yummy.😋 Their cocktail and alcohol selection is exactly unique. I don't like beer, but i like it very much. Don't forget to try their Signature beer that has 5 level of tispy-beer and unique.

We went there last night for first time. Both foods and drinks are superb 💯👍 Their so called special beer has 5 levels (actually it was a cocktail which includes beer 😄). My friend tried it up to level 3 and said that it was so strong. Their cocktails are so strong too....made us drunk with 2 glasses. (can save money 😁) We were satisfied with Tipsy Bar.

Better reserve a table in advance if you plan to enjoy the live band. The menu has recently undergone an upgrade, which I found interesting and tasty. However, the cocktails could use a bit of improvement. The servers were attentive and friendly.

Very nice cocktail bar frequented mostly by young locals. Good variety of cocktails plus they also have some decent bar-type food. Good service by friendly staff. Try some of their specialty cocktails, such as the "Walk like an Egyptian" or "Democracy". Good place to hangout with friends after work.

Such a good place!!! We tried all of their Barrell aged cocktails and the first 3 were amazing! (Egyptian, elixir, pinabarrel) the last one was good but ordinary (Democracy). Also ate samosa, fish and chips - was tasty! The vibes in the place are awesome and the music is in the right volume so you can hear it but still be able to talk to the people around you. I think it's better to have a reservation but I don't really know how crowded this place is.

Nestled atop the Sakura Tower in downtown Yangon, the Yangon Yangon Rooftop Bar is a must-visit for anyone looking to soak in breathtaking views of the city skyline and stunning sunsets. Perched on the 20th floor, this vibrant spot offers an inviting atmosphere where you can unwind while enjoying acoustic music nights or lively DJ events. Although it can get a bit breezy up there, the panoramic vistas of Sule Pagoda and other downtown landmarks make it all worthwhile.
Beautiful view of the street and a small pagoda. Sadly, the Shwedagon Pagoda was blocked from the rooftop, but no problem—the live music, cozy bar with transparent glass windows compensated for that. You can also order fresh juice and grilled food. We were there during the rainy season, so they had closed the open rooftop. However, upon our request, they opened the rooftop for me and my family. It was a great night. ❤️

Located at the 20th floor of Sakura Tower. The view is spectacular but pricey a bit. Chinese style fried noodle dish is recommended to try. The waiters are very friendly too.

The bar is located on the 20th floor of the Sakura building, easy to find, very windy. It has a beautiful view to the Sule Pagoda and some places in the Yangon’s downtown, especially in the night or sunset . You can sit outside for chilling. Drinks and food aren’t so good but reasonably priced (5,000 - 15,000 kyats). Friendly staffs.

The bar is chill and the prices are reasonable. Sometimes the service gets slow but the waiters are polite so it’s all good.

Entrance fee is 5000MMK which can be used for one drink. In the happy our (5pm to 7pm) every drink is 5000MMK. The view over Yangon is very good. The appetizers, except the cashew nuts, are not that good. It is not allowed to just take photos from the top, so pay the entrance fee, have a drink and take your photos ;)
Christian W — Google review
Yangon Yangon rooftop bar in Sakura Tower offers stunning views of the city from its high vantage point. The atmosphere is sophisticated and upscale, with comfortable lounge seating and a modern decor. The drinks menu is extensive and includes a wide range of cocktails, wines and beers, as well as non-alcoholic options. The food menu features a mix of Western and Asian dishes, with a focus on small plates and sharing platters. Prices are on the higher side, but the quality of the experience justifies the cost. Overall, Yangon Yangon is a great spot for a romantic night out or a classy evening with friends. However, the bar can get crowded during peak hours, so it's recommended to make a reservation in advance.

Kandawgyi Lake is a 150-acre artificial reservoir located east of the Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon. It is surrounded by the Kandawgyi Natural Park and Yangon Zoological Gardens, making it one of the city's popular attractions. The lake features walking paths, offering picturesque views and a relaxing atmosphere for visitors to enjoy.
There are many things to do around the lake area, including visiting a couple of public parks, a plant nursery area, going for a walk around the lake, trying the food at one of the many restaurants around the lake, sitting in the shade and enjoying live music played and sung by park revelers, jogging, hiking, eating lunch, picnicking. This is a huge public space that rarely disappoints. Highly recommended.

If you are not going there for meal. You don't have to pay 500mmk entrance fee to the clutter of restaurants. If just for sight seeing. There is a plywood path build near the lake before the entrance. You can just take that path to see the lake. You can't walk around the lake. Is blocked and be careful of those holes on the path. Only the Double Dragon Stone Boat there for you to take pictures. Other then that nothing good to see. Those path that can be walk on is surround by building. No nature, so don't waste time coming here.
Stephen F — Google review
The lake is a nice spot for a morning run. There are various entrances to the park surrounding the lake - on the southern side some will charge an entrance fee but access from the northern side was free of charge as of January 2020. The park on the northern side allows for some great pagoda views. At the time of writing this a boardwalk was being erected on the southern-west side but it was not complete, yet.
René S — Google review
Beautiful place to visit with family. It is a nice picnic spot.
Piyush M — Google review
This lake and the walk around it, it worth the effort. It is not a pristine English garden. The lake is full of algae and there is a bit of rubbish around. But the boardwalk has just been replaced and the new one creates a really nice way to walk around the lake. (FEB 2020 - It is almost finished but there are a few parts that are just being completed. There did not seems to be any signs , but you can find yourself at a dead end and have to walk back in a few places when you come upon the next lot of construction) All in all a great walk around.
Paul S — Google review
Looks good from little distance. Lot of the wooden boards of the side walking lane are broken and men were drinking in the walk. It is worth to visit and you can see the Pagoda from the lake. It has malls and restaurants near the lake.

Yangon's Chinatown, located near Sule Pagoda and 19th street, has a rich history dating back to the 1850s when it was established during British rule. Today, it is a bustling area with over 150,000 Chinese residents. Although it could have been a decent place to chill, a man who they mentioned as the MANAGER had bad manners and not orientated customer satisfaction. We were told to be quiet (not in gentleman way) even though it was a ROOFTOP bar where no neighborhood around. FYI, we have been to almost all the nice places to hang out not only in Yangon, but also around the world. I'm still not mentioning "small apartment space", "have only one toilet", "super traffic at rush hour" and "no parking lots" which is the big current issue in Yangon. As for pricing, meh, big amount with no good service. IMO, I'd skip CoCoon next time. အတိုချုပ်ပြောရလျှင် မန်နေဂျာ ဆက်ဆံရေး အဆင်မပြေပါခင်ဗျာ။

Love the vibe of this place! Place was empty when I came over for lunch on Sunday. Ordered the PA Burger and it was juicy and tender! The Kimchi Mushroom Fried Rice was delicious as well! Awesome place to chill with friends especially at night. They even have beer pong and pool table.

I would prefer a simpler menu...had a hard time identifying which was their best seller and asked their waitstaff to recommend. They recommended this korean chicken so sure we ordered. Had a trio of sourness with their signature korean fried chicken. Sauce is sour, pickles are sour, kimchi yogurt was sour. To that we had two tacos, the taco skin was thick and brittle.

We went here looki g for a rooftop bar. The place on the 8th floor was in virtual darkness with only 2 other customers in there. There was no music, no atmosphere and no reason to return. The entrance was accessed along a hotel corridor - at least the residents would not be disturbed by too many revellers passing their doors. The beer was pricier than in the next nearest rooftop bar on the 20th floor, which has music, lots of atmosphere and an interesting mix of customers. Not worth the effort of going unless you are spending more than a few days here and wish to ring the changes.

Nestled in the heart of Yangon, the Shwedagon Pagoda stands as a breathtaking testament to Myanmar's rich cultural heritage. Towering at 99 meters and adorned with an impressive 11 tons of pure gold, this historic Buddhist temple is not only the oldest pagoda in the country but also one of the most revered religious sites globally. Dating back over 2,600 years, it houses sacred relics from four past Buddhas, including strands of hair from Gautama Buddha himself.
After sunset, we stepped barefoot up Singuttara Hill, the city lights of Yangon fading behind us as the golden glow of Shwedagon rose ahead. Even in the dimming light, it felt like a world apart. A place alive with quiet devotion and flickering candles, as if the whole hill breathed with something ancient. Parts of the complex were under repair, as the recent earthquake left its mark in cracks and bamboo scaffolding. But even through the signs of damage, the stupa stood tall, nearly 100 meters of gold catching the last traces of daylight, still radiant, still sacred. We moved slowly, clockwise, like the others, past smaller pagodas and shrines, some draped in hessian, others lit by oil lamps. There was a hush in the air, not silence, but something deeper like a respect, a resilience. This place, even wounded, still held its power. They say it houses relics of four Buddhas, including eight hairs of Gautama himself. And in that moment, with the night wrapped around us and the scent of incense rising, it wasn’t hard to believe. I paused to hold time for the victims: the ones lost to the quake, and the many more bound under the weight of oppression. A quiet offering. A silent wish. And beneath that golden spire, I let gratitude swell in me for the unseen hands and hearts that helped heal my own, for the goodwill of the universe that still reaches out, even when things break. Spirituality, beauty, and the weight of centuries all met us there, even after the ground had shifted beneath it.

Probably one of the most best experiences I had in Yangon, visiting the Shwedagon Pagoda. Pictures online don't capture how truly majestic and magnificent this structure is. The way it glows in the daytime or at night, will simply capture your attention everytime.

The Shwedagon Pagoda is Myanmar’s most sacred Buddhist site, a 112 meter tall golden stupa in Yangon. It was constructed 2,600 years ago which is now the oldest Buddhist stupa in the world. Houses relics of the past four Buddhas, including eight hairs of the current Buddha, making it a pilgrimage site of global importance. The pagoda complex is adorned with thousands of gold plates, diamonds, rubies, and other significant stones. We were so lucky that it was sunny the day we went since it is rainy season in Yangon and it was raining most of the time while we were there. It was scorching hot that day, we cannot stay for more than an hour to see the huge complex. I was only able to take few photos as we were both melting and the tile floor can get very hot, I was walking like a kangaroo on barefoot. No footwear allowed upon entering. I was in awe with the beauty and history of the pagoda and other temples. Truly thankful to be able to see this complex for once in my life travels. #labonitaviajera #iamkbonita #shwedagonpagoda

The place is huge and very impressive. The ticket is 25000 and you have to pay in cash and ATM is only inside(!), so you can’t get inside unless you have cash. Girls who give tickets won’t let me in, I was lucky a guide helped me P.S. the ticket says that the price is 10000, so not about legitimacy of their posters

The Shwedagon Pagoda is the most sacred Buddhist pagoda in Myanmar, as it is believed to contain relics of the four previous Buddhas of the present kalpa. It is also known as the Great Dagon Pagoda and the Golden Pagoda, is a gilded stupa located in Yangon, Myanmar. The stupa is made of genuine gold plates
CK C — Google review
The Shwedagon Pagoda is without a doubt the most iconic and sacred site in all of Myanmar. Towering majestically over Yangon, this golden stupa is not only a religious monument but a symbol of the nation’s spiritual heart and cultural pride. From the moment you arrive, the atmosphere is deeply moving. The pagoda glows with a brilliant golden hue, especially breathtaking at sunrise or sunset when the light dances across its gilded surface. Believed to enshrine relics of four Buddhas, including strands of Gautama Buddha’s hair, the site holds immense spiritual significance for Buddhist devotees. The complex itself is vast and filled with richly decorated shrines, prayer halls, and smaller stupas. Every detail—from the ornate carvings to the flickering candlelight —reflects centuries of devotion and artistry. The soft chanting of monks, the scent of incense, and the sight of locals and pilgrims in prayer create an atmosphere of deep peace and reverence. Shwedagon is not just a place to visit—it’s an experience to absorb. Whether you're there for spiritual reasons, cultural exploration, or simply to admire its architectural splendor, the pagoda leaves a lasting impression. It is a must-see landmark that captures the soul of Myanmar. The Shwedagon Pagoda is located on Singuttara Hill in Dagon Township, Yangon, Myanmar. Towering over the city, it can be seen from many vantage points, especially near Kandawgyi Lake. To reach the Shwedagon Pagoda, tourists can take taxis or buses from downtown Yangon, such as Line 8 or Line 11. While buses stop nearby, the easiest and most convenient option is by taxi, which typically takes about 15–20 minutes. There are four main entrances: South, West, North, and East. The southern entrance is wheelchair accessible and includes an elevator. International tourists are required to pay an entrance fee of approximately 10,000 Kyat. Opening hours: Daily from 4:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Things to know before visiting: Visitors must dress appropriately, wear long pants or a skirt that covers the knees and a shirt with sleeves that covers the shoulders. Avoid tight or revealing clothing. Shoes and socks must be removed before entering. Best time to visit: Early morning or evening—to enjoy the cool air and stunning light, especially during sunset when the golden pagoda gleams against the sky. It’s customary to walk clockwise around the pagoda, refrain from loud conversation, and avoid pointing your feet at sacred objects. There is a tourist service center, and inside the museum, you'll find displays of religious antiques and historical exhibitions.

This is one of the most famous Buddhist temples in Yangon, known for its largest Buddha image in Myanmar. The Buddha statue was first built in 1907 as an open-air sitting Buddha. It was unfortunately blown up by the Japanese in the Second World War. It was rebuilt in 1953 to the current white big reclining Buddha. Besides the Buddha statue, there are also painting depicting the life of Buddha on the wall. Worth a visit
CK C — Google review
Chaukhtatgyi Reclining Buddha is the third-largest reclining Buddha in Myanmar, located in Yangon. The Buddha statue is incredibly beautiful, measuring 65 meters long and 16 meters high. One of its most special features is its very large and expressive eyes, which add to its majestic appearance. Walking to the back, you will find Thep Than Jai, where visitors can ask for blessings and make wishes. The reclining Buddha is truly magnificent and offers a serene and spiritual atmosphere. Visitors can also climb the stairs at the back of the Buddha to take stunning pictures, providing a unique perspective of this grand statue. I highly recommend visiting this temple for those interested in Buddhist culture and history or simply to admire its beauty and tranquility.

Visited on November 15, 2024 Today, I had the chance to visit Chaukhtatgyi Buddha Temple in Yangon, and it was an absolutely stunning experience. The temple is home to a massive reclining Buddha statue, which is the highlight of the site and truly breathtaking. The reclining Buddha at Chaukhtatgyi is enormous—66 meters long—and beautifully crafted. Its serene expression and the intricate details, especially on the soles of the feet with 108 sacred symbols, were fascinating. Standing in front of such a grand statue, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of calm and reverence. The colors and design of the Buddha make it visually striking, and it’s a sight I’ll never forget. The temple’s peaceful atmosphere was one of the best parts of my visit. It wasn’t crowded, and the gentle sound of chanting and the aroma of incense created a tranquil setting. Watching the locals offering flowers and prayers gave me a deeper appreciation of the space as a living, spiritual place. Getting to the temple was straightforward, and entry was free, though I left a small donation. The grounds were well-kept, and there were shaded areas where I could sit and take in the atmosphere. It was nice to see that photography was allowed, so I could capture some memories without feeling intrusive. Dress Code: Make sure to wear modest clothing, covering shoulders and knees. Best Time to Visit: I went before lunch and it is very humid outside. Chaukhtatgyi Buddha Temple is a must-visit if you’re in Yangon. The reclining Buddha alone is worth the trip, and the peaceful environment made it a perfect escape from the city. It’s a place I’d definitely recommend to anyone visiting Myanmar.

Worth visiting. Very peacefull. Didnt expect to be that big in person. Spend minutes admiring Buddha's face and the way his manicured hand support his head. The bare metal frames and trusses adds the charm to the temple. One of the most memorable temples I visited around Southeast Asia

Beautiful space. Easily accessible. Reminder for westerners, it is a temple and so there are certain dress requirements. The Buddha is huge. Much bigger than I expected. There is a raised viewing platform to see a different perspective. It does get quite hot, so morning might be better

Nestled in the bustling heart of downtown Yangon, the Sule Pagoda stands as a stunning testament to Myanmar's rich history and culture. This gilded Buddhist stupa, believed to be around 2,500 years old, is not only an architectural marvel with its ornate exterior but also a significant landmark in Burmese politics. It has served as a gathering point for pivotal pro-democracy movements throughout history.
The Sule Pagoda is a beautiful landmark located right in the heart of downtown Yangon. According to legend, it was built during the time of Buddha, adding a deep historical and spiritual significance to its charm. The pagoda’s golden exterior gleams in the sunlight, making it a striking sight amidst the bustling city. Entry for foreigners is 10,000 Kyat, and its central location makes it easy to visit while exploring Yangon. It’s a wonderful place to experience the city’s cultural and religious heritage.

The biggest and most respected deity in Myanmar Sule Pagoda is a pagoda built over 2,000 years ago. It is a golden octagonal pagoda located in the center of the roundabout in Yangon. The base of the pagoda has a Buddha image for each day of birth to worship according to tradition. As for praying to the deity, it can grant a blessing. There is a secret: you must pray only once to use it as power for worship. Do not change your mind. Foreigners entrance fee: 10,000 Kyat/person.

Sule Pagoda is an ancient octagonal pagoda located in the heart of the city, surrounded by many roads leading to it. It is a sacred place situated at the center of travel in Yangon, making it a significant cultural and spiritual landmark. Around the base of the pagoda, there are Buddha images designated for each day of birth, allowing visitors to worship according to their birth day. The surroundings of the pagoda are incredibly beautiful, with the golden pagoda standing in striking contrast to the green-roofed buildings nearby. To visit the pagoda, visitors must remove their shoes outside, as is customary in every temple in Myanmar. Shoes and socks must be taken off at the entrance as a sign of respect. Sule Pagoda is a must-visit destination for those who want to experience the spiritual and cultural essence of Yangon, offering both a serene atmosphere and a glimpse into the city’s rich heritage.

Visited November 14, 2024 Sule Pagoda, located in the heart of Yangon, is a stunning testament to Myanmar’s rich spiritual and architectural heritage. My visit today left a lasting impression, although the experience was slightly hampered by the midday heat. The golden stupa of Sule Pagoda stands out amidst the city’s busy streets, glowing brightly even under the harsh sun. Its unique octagonal shape and intricate details reflect centuries of craftsmanship. With a history dating back over 2,000 years, it remains an essential spiritual landmark and a beautiful sight to behold. Inside the pagoda, the serene atmosphere was a welcome relief from the chaos of the streets outside. Devotees were quietly praying and making offerings, adding to the sacred ambiance. While the peacefulness inside was soothing, the heat during my pre-lunch visit made it harder to fully enjoy the experience. The entrance fee for foreigners is 10,000 MMK, which is well worth it for the opportunity to explore this historic site. However, I strongly advise against walking to the pagoda, especially during the late morning or midday. The heat was intense, and it made the journey exhausting—opting for a taxi or Grab would be a much better choice. A few meters away from the pagoda, there is a viewpoint that offers a great perspective of Sule Pagoda surrounded by the bustling cityscape. It’s a fantastic spot for taking photos and appreciating the contrast between the ancient stupa and modern Yangon. Sule Pagoda is a must-visit for its stunning architecture and spiritual significance. While the midday heat and surrounding city chaos can be challenging, the pagoda’s beauty and the nearby viewpoint make it a rewarding experience. Just plan your visit carefully, and you’ll appreciate this iconic landmark fully.

999 Shan Noodle House is a renowned local eatery where you can savor the comforting flavors of Shan cuisine. The term 'shan' refers to the Burmese people from Shan state, and their signature dish is a soothing noodle soup made with rice vermicelli in chicken or pork broth. This Burmese version of chicken noodle soup is often enjoyed with pickled mustard greens for a delightful contrast of acidity and crunch.
Because I’m a believer that the best way to discover a culture is through the food - just tried the famous Shan Noodle at 999 Shan Noodle Shop, a spotless hole-in-the-wall & sought after restaurant in Yangon. The owner & staffs are so welcoming & friendly. The food here is to die for! 😋👌 (Shan noodle & fried tofu)
Joiza K — Google review
One of the best soup noodle I've ever tasted in my life. Visited way back before the whole pandemic thing. The space is cramped but jam-packed with people, showing how popular this place is despite the unassuming appearance. Was lucky to have a seat when I arrived. And right after I stood up to leave, people were already taking the place again. Everything was clean, with polite and good servants. Can't really remember the price anymore though. But one thing for sure, if you are in Yangon by any chance and love soup noodle, this is a must to try.
Indra K — Google review
This noodle shop is located in Chinatown and is quite easy to find. The area is bustling and lively, which adds to the atmosphere. However, the shop doesn’t have air conditioning, so it can get uncomfortably hot, especially in the summer. The space is also relatively small, making it feel a bit cramped. The food is simple and home-style — nothing fancy, but decent and satisfying. Prices are reasonable, and the owner is friendly, giving it a down-to-earth vibe. It’s a typical, no-frills noodle shop. Overall, it’s a convenient place for a quick meal in a busy area. If you don’t mind the heat and the basic setting, it’s worth a try. Overall rating: 3.5 stars
Lis H — Google review
If you’re visiting Yangon and want to try authentic Shan noodles in a casual, no-fuss setting, 999 Shan Noodle Shop is a must. Tucked into a small storefront downtown, it’s been a long-time favorite among locals, expats, and tourists alike, and for good reason. The menu is simple but hits all the right notes. The star is, of course, the Shan noodle, served either dry or in soup, with tender slices of pork or chicken, fresh herbs, and just the right balance of seasoning. It’s comforting, flavorful, and always satisfying. Other popular options include sticky rice with pork, fried tofu, and Shan-style tomato salad. Service is fast and friendly, and the place is well-run despite being compact and often busy. Prices are very affordable, making it easy to try multiple dishes without overspending. What we liked: • Delicious, authentic Shan noodles • Quick and efficient service • Affordable pricing • Clean and welcoming atmosphere despite the small size What could be better: • Seating is limited during peak hours • Not ideal for large groups 999 Shan Noodle Shop is the kind of place you’ll likely come back to more than once during your stay in Yangon, simple food, done right.
Tasara T — Google review
Considering the name which is a noodle house, I was expecting the noodles to be different from other restaurants but it tastes the same as my hotel’s breakfast and my grab takeaway. I would’ve given it a 3 star if not for the delicious chicken potato croquet! I loved it. I usually can’t finish 5 pcs but I chomped it all off!

Traditional market but it was not a happy feeling after I got back in the hotel checking my purchases. After converting what I’ve paid for 5 items I bought, surely I paid 3X for what it should be. I just wish people or sellers are honest and will not do their dirty tricks to earn more. This type of experience shoo tourist away to buy. Sad, because I’m sure not all sellers are bad and must have decent sellers out there. Negative experience from visiting this market for me but in a positive note, I hope what I paid extra, helped them in a way. Overall, it is a place to buy souvenirs. Very good fine dining restaurant with an amazing atmosphere, we went in the morning and we took pictures of the beautiful lake and the ducks that were there and it was fantastic to take photos, the atmosphere was really vibrant and warm and i was pleased with the atmosphere of the place however the price for the quality of food i feel like its not too worth it, i ordered seafood spaghetti and i felt it was a little underwhelming for the price i was paying but the lamb was good but the portions were lacking though it is justifiable as it is a fine dining restraunt i just wanted to add emphasis on how you guys need a more consistent standard for all the food because i really did feel like the spaghetti was lacking and it was not worth the 50k i paid though staff were welcoming and friendly, i feel like the portion size along with the taste of the spaghetti was extremely underwhelming and i was not satisfied with the taste and i hope you guys can improve it.

Environment: 8/10 The environment is very nice. You get the view of the Inya lake and there are outdoor seats right next to the lake. But it wasn't as nice during lunchtime because of the burning sun. The decoration was colonial style and was very decorative. Food: 7/10 The taste wasn't extraordinary, the taste felt simple. This is the premier French restaurant in Rangoon. They have their own private bay on the water. The setting is an old colonial home and gardens. The home is luxurious and the gardens are exquisite. Even the toilets are like stepping into luxury. The food is Michelin-class in presentation, delivery, and taste. The only downside are the mosquitoes that cannot be avoided. So spray yourself or larger up the cream to keep from becoming the main meal. The tables are spaced so that each group has privacy of conversation while not appearing to be isolated. They have ample parking and security in the parking lot.

Great reputation. Great variety of food. Service is ok. Demand is high and often lead to slow service. Sometimes you are informed that the menu you ordered is not available after 5-10 minutes. Bathroom is small but clean. A bit pricey.

Various choices such as Burmese, Shan, Thai and Chinese foods. In addition, healthy fruit juices and pork sticks are available. Located in quiet environments but a bit crowded at breakfast time.

The National Museum of Myanmar, a modern five-story establishment in Yangon, is an essential destination for anyone eager to delve into the rich tapestry of Burmese history and culture. Established in 1952, this museum showcases a diverse array of exhibitions that highlight everything from the evolution of the Myanmar alphabet to the unique traditions and attire of various ethnic groups. Among its most captivating displays is the Royal Lion Throne, a stunning artifact that embodies deep cultural significance.
The admission fee is 10k now. One locker room for sorting your bag, and a few room prohibited the photoshoots on an piece of paper attached to the ticket also the sign at the door of each a a reminder. Loved the rich culture including the folk art, clothing and the precious display of the royal family items. A great way to get a glimpse of Myanmar and as in its history and geography. It is not as modern and advanced as the ones in those developed countries, but they have made their best efforts showcasing the country obviously.

Myanmar National Museum – Honest Impressions The Myanmar National Museum is almost empty — you might find yourself being the only visitor inside. It feels quite deserted, which can be peaceful but also a bit eerie. Bags are not allowed inside. You have to leave them at the entrance in a locker, which is securely locked. The staff are generally friendly and helpful. However, one major downside is that photography is not allowed inside the museum. This is quite disappointing, as most national museums around the world allow visitors to take photos. The museum lacks air conditioning, so it gets uncomfortably hot inside. The exhibits and overall layout feel somewhat underwhelming and basic — it gives off a rather neglected or half-hearted vibe. On the plus side, the entrance fee is cheap, just a few US dollars. But overall, it’s not a very impressive experience unless you’re deeply interested in Burmese history and have time to spare.

The national museum is well worth a visit. It has a lot of very interesting exhibits. It only costs 10,000MMK to visit and can easily take a few hours to go through. I’d recommend it for anyone who wants to learn about Myanmar’s precolonial history.

It's a must to do if you want to want to learn more on Myanmar. The 4 floors took me ( in fast ) 2 hours but if you are an historian or cultural passioned, it will take you more. Not many people there, it's very quite and good to see the beauties and pieces, you will be alone most of the time in each hall. Very interesting is the music instruments hall on the 3rd floor and the Asian corner on the top floor.
Péchey J — Google review
Surprisingly empty. No bags allowed inside but there are lockers you can rent. Phones are allowed but some areas are off limits for photography. 4 floors with 3-4 galleries per floor. It has everything from Royal Regalia and thrones to prehistoric dinosaur bones. The gallery on the major tribes that make up Myanmar was fascinating as was the music and art gallery. Well worth a visit if you are in the city. Give yourself 2-3 hours to explore.

I was there last year people said its closed now as they plan to move it to another place so you need to check about this. But although of this I want to share my experience about this amazing museum as I really enjoyed to be there last year. First you pay as forginer 500k and you have to leave your bag at outside locker and it's mandatory The museum consist of 5 floors each one has a story and it's special and different items. If you want to know about Burma history and traditions and culture this will be the best place ever as almost show every thing you need to know specially its very hard to find someone explain all of this to you as the history of Burma is long and complicated. I took around 1.5 hours to finish my tour and still feeling its not enough. Overall its a great experience and I hope it still open.

+ Stunning ground floor of the original golden Lion throne showroom from Mandalay. Third floor golden jewelry & Forth floor custom was interesting of showing some highlights of the 135 different tribes history and fashion. + Washroom on every floor. Convenient. - Though not too impressed the young girl guide asking up front for tips if the tour is satisfactory. Reminds of like being in Cuba. Difference being in here she’s polite, friendly & attentive to everyone of our group. Cuba was total opposite. Whole trip in Myanmar has never been asked nor expected tips. - Certain area no photography nor video allowed. Lights at certain floor was quite dim. Entrance Free for locals. 5000 Y for foreigner. Nice staff. English speaking staff available to tour around.

Babett Eatery & Bar Yangon, located on the ground floor of Hotel G Yangon, offers a stylish yet laid-back setting. The restaurant features a menu inspired by French and Mediterranean cuisines, offering small plates and sharing platters. Meanwhile, the bar provides an extensive selection of wines and summer cocktails. With its spacious interior and relaxed atmosphere, it's an ideal place for casual get-togethers or even work sessions with its fast Wi-Fi.
Their salad is so delicious yet the cocktails are so fresh too. A little bit dark for the atmosphere but it’s ok to have a chill night there. Talkative staff and also knowledgeable for some tips to explore Yangon. Kudos!

This is a fancy bar and restaurant with a stylish atmosphere. I tried a cocktail and a chocolate cake. The cocktail was quite good, and the chocolate cake looked amazing, but the flavor didn’t quite match its appearance—it was a bit underwhelming in taste. It’s a nice spot for drinks, but the desserts might be more about presentation than flavor.
Tibor — Google review
This restaurant is located on the ground floor of Hotel G. Although it claims to serve Mediterranean cuisine, the food is actually more American in style. The decor is very American too, and the background music features U.S. pop hits. It can be a bit noisy, but it’s still possible to have a conversation without raising your voice. Prices are quite high by Yangon standards. Even the cheapest items cost around 40,000 to 50,000 kyats, and some dishes go over 100,000 kyats. While this may be acceptable for foreigners, it's considered expensive for locals. I tried the beef, and it tasted like cheaper cuts—nothing particularly tender or flavorful. The food itself would get about 3.5 out of 5. The ambiance, however, is a highlight. It's clean, stylish, and there’s a bar area that recreates the feel of a typical Western bar—cozy and vibrant, very much like what you'd find in the U.S. I’d rate the atmosphere between 4 and 4.5 out of 5. Service is okay—not quite at the level of a high-end Western restaurant, but staff do check in occasionally to see how the food is, which is appreciated. Overall, I’d give this place a solid 4 out of 5. The environment is its strong point, while the food is just average and slightly overpriced. In Yangon, there aren’t many places like this, so it still stands out in its niche. If you care about value for money, the rating would drop below 4. But if you're not concerned about the cost and want a Western-style experience, 4 stars feels fair.

I’ve been a regular since around 2017. Waiting for the day it’d disappoint me, but that time hasn’t come yet. New bars and restaurants come and go in Yangon but we always go back to Babette. I think it as good as you can get in Yangon !! I’d always be thankful for the great times, good food and drinks and looking forward to many more ❤️

They are knowledgeable about the menu and are happy to provide recommendations or accommodate special requests. The prompt and courteous service enhances the overall dining experience, making patrons feel welcome and well-cared-for. **Ambiance: 4 Stars** The ambiance of Babett Eatery & Bar is modern and chic, with a stylish interior design that creates a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. The decor features a mix of contemporary and rustic elements, providing a relaxed yet sophisticated setting. However, while the space is well-designed, it can get quite busy during peak hours, which might slightly affect the overall experience. Despite this, the ambiance remains pleasant and enjoyable, making it a great spot for both casual dining and special occasions. ### Overall Rating Babett Eatery & Bar in Yangon offers an outstanding dining experience with delicious European cuisine, top-notch service, and a stylish ambiance. With a few minor improvements in managing peak-time crowds, it could easily become a 5-star destination in every aspect.

The food was really bad. The spaghetti seafood was not fresh, especially the prawns were so smelly like frozen one… I had to spit it out immediately… I also tried one octopus salad I couldn’t eat it because it didn’t taste good… The smoked salmon was so salty… The taste and freshness of the food was so bad that it was expensive… The food is so bland that if you don’t eat it right away, it can even cause food poisoning. I will never eat there again. Forever blacklisted.

Loved the ambience. The chef was very friendly and he introduced us to the establishment and took us on a tour around the kitchen as well as the rooms filled with decoratives. The cause is very meaningful. The three course meal was just nice. The complimentary bread was very crusty and light in the middle. Haven't had a good baguette in along time. Would definitely go there again another day.

This is a western restaurant with a gourmet setup. The waitresses are very aware and polite and do a good job. The dishes are kind of small but 3 courses make you full. The food is decent not the best i have had. I think i needs more flavor - the meat though were perfectly cooked. The restaurant is a training center where young people who cant afford an education can come into training for 11 months. The food was quiet expensive. 41.000 kyats for 3 courses. You have to pay extra tips to make sure chefs in training get an income. Not really sure how to rate this restaurant - is it a charity meal? A gourmet meal? An ordinary restaurant meal or?

Nice place to have some proper European food. Not all dishes were great but most of them were perfectly fine for their price. The service is usually attentive. The only little problem that we had was the noise, the smell and the street dogs coming from the nearby street food place. It was sometimes disturbing if you wanted to dine outside or have a smoke.

The service is phenomenal at this place... I was here today for lunch with my friends and there was a little communication error between the waiter and the kitchen that leads to an extra hour of waiting time for 3 dishes. A maverlous history. Incredible house full of memories. 1920 Colonial architecture is always worth to learn. Amazing garden compound integration with big tree. What a vibe. I would love to go there again. It's a Must visit place in Yangon.

I went there on a weekday with my friend. We were the only visitors for that evening, which made our visit even more special. The people there were so friendly as I even felt like I was visiting my family's house instead. So nostalgic, peaceful and quiet. Fresh air, green grass and tall trees made us want to comeback again. Not to mention that the warm light, photographs and wooden furnitures took us back to 90s' era. It's recommended to take time and imagine to become one as you belong there. The lady there told us that we would not need to make a payment for future visits. And she also let us know that they open to everyone to read books and chill in December. Wish you all had great memories there.🩵

It’s a relatively inconspicuous and hidden gem among all the sightseeing spots in Yangon and rest of the Myanmar. U Thant was an avant garde statesman not only from Myanmar but was a towering personality among the world leaders. This museum offers incredible insights of the less-talked about Asia icon and an apostle of peace worldwide. The tiny museum hidden in one bucolic part of Yangon is a must visit place for any scholar or journalist or any one who loves history and geopolitics. It’s a unique museum where the staff welcome you touch every memorabilia on display to make your experience more interactive and insightful. Two of the staff I met at the museum, Miss May and Miss Sie Sar, were immensely helpful and fluent in English to help me understand the incredible man U Thant was. It’s a small but amazingly neat museum with great information available for the viewers to know more about U Thant and his monumental works for the United Nations. It’s indeed a must visit place in Yangon.

Well worth a visit ... we had a great time. The house and gardens are delightful, and the tour is very informative and done by some very well informed guides that spoke prefect English and were super friendly. We spent well over an hour there and there was still more to investigate. It's both a museum and learning center so well set up to inform and educate older children. It's probably worth making a booking to ensure that you can get the tour. Entrance fee is MMK20,000 for foreigners and MMK10,000 for locals and well worth it.

Best museum I’ve seen in Rangoon. Well designed spaces with good information. The internal transcripts on the Cuban Missile Crisis were particularly interesting. The girl on duty was very knowledgeable about U Thant and explained the photos well. I also enjoyed talking to her about Yangon University, where she’s currently taking her Masters at. Would have loved to chat with her more but was pretty much chased off by rampant mosquitoes, especially in the garden. If you’re walking to this house using Gmaps, don’t walk in from the U Wisara main road like I did! You gotta come in via Chindwin Road from Inya Road instead.

Former UN secretary general, U Thant, stayed this house before he worked for UN. The exhibition in the house shows his life and how he worked hard for the peace of the world. There is small room to watch videos and many panels to explain his life. The house had been renovated recently so not many furniture can be seen as he stayed, but it's clean nice place to visit.

Nestled in the vibrant city of Yangon, the Swe Taw Myat Pagoda stands out as a stunning example of modern Buddhist architecture. Adorned with shimmering gold leaf and white stucco, it radiates beauty under the afternoon sun. The pagoda features intricate motifs that captivate visitors, inviting them to wander through its various entrances and explore its charming alleyways. Once home to a revered tooth relic of Gautama Buddha, today an exquisite ivory replica is displayed within its serene confines.
One of the famous Pagoda in Yangon, Myanmar. The pagoda was constructed to enshrine a sacred Buddha tooth relic, believed to be one of the teeth of the Gautama Buddha who died some 2,500 years ago. Quiet, peaceful and relaxing mindset.

Swe Taw Myat Pagoda, also known as the Buddha Tooth Relic Pagoda, was constructed to enshrine a sacred tooth relic of Gautama Buddha. This relic, believed to be one of Buddha’s teeth, was brought from China in 1994 and displayed for 45 days for public homage. The pagoda, funded by donations from Burmese and international Buddhists, features an ivory replica of the relic today. Its design is inspired by the ancient Ananda Pagoda in Bagan, and it uniquely allows public viewing of the relic, which is typically hidden in most pagodas. The best times to visit Swe Taw Myat Pagoda to avoid crowds are early in the morning around sunrise or in the evening around sunset. These times offer pleasant weather and a more tranquil experience, as the pagoda is generally less busy during these hours. The pagoda is open daily from 6 AM to 6 PM, and planning your visit for 2 to 3 hours is ideal for a thorough exploration.

Worth the visit! It's very calm in the morning, not too many people around. Inside there's the tooth relic, but no description of what you're looking at, so I didn't even know there was a sacred tooth. The intricate details on windows and doors are just super nice. The road to the pagoda is also very beautiful, lined by trees and you pass by a small lake. The official entry fee for foreigners is 3000 MMK

This Pegoda is bit far from the central yangon, it's quite near the airport. But it's worth seeing. I would suggest best time to go is in the evening when you can see the day light and well as the dawn from the Pegoda. The lighting inside the Pegoda is mesmerizing. It is said Buddha's tooth is placed here. I loved it I hope you guys will as well

Swe Taw Myat Pagoda or ” Buddha Tooth Relic Pagoda ” is one of the most sacred worship in Yangon. A lot of travelers when traveling Myanmar have selected Swe Taw Myat Pagoda is the first destination. This temple is not very large but really nice with beautiful architecture. Unlike most relics of the Buddha, the Buddha’s relics at Swe Taw Myat are so well displayed that public can admire. The Swe Taw Myat Pagoda is located on a small hill called Dhammapala in the town of Mayangone, south of Yangon Airport. The main entrance is exquisitely decorated and located on Sware Taw Myat road. The easiest way to get there is by taxi, at a cost of about 5,000 Kyat from downtown Yangon. The Swe Taw Myat Pagoda was built to house and worship the sacred relics of the Buddha, believed to be a relic of Gautama Buddha who died 2,500 years ago. Along with the relics of Buddha’s tooth, which came from the original two ivories, all these artifacts are still preserved today. Sweat Taw Myat Pagoda was constructed with unique architecture. It is a large white building decorated with gold motifs, according to the ancient Ananda temple in Bagan, built in the late 11th century. Sweat Taw Myat Pagoda is a pagoda with four entrances in four symmetrical directions. The stairs to each entrance are surrounded by a pair of white and yellow Chinthe – a lion-like mythical creature – in Burma this is a mascot that people believe it is born to protect temples and pagodas. There are stalls inside the pagoda where worshipers can buy flowers, incense and other offerings. In the center of the great hall, the roof of the pagoda is composed of many small roofs piled up in the middle, with various large painted gold columns arranged harmoniously looks like a formal umbrella. Many details of this pagoda are decorated intricately. In the middle of Sweat Taw Myat Pagoda, the ivory burial site is stored in a small cylindrical glass box, placed on a cylindrical, multi-storey tall pedestal. The top has a towering roof with many small jade Buddha statues around. The people of Burma come here often carrying gold leaves to lap the statue of Buddha for blessing. Tourists should note that you have to leave your shoes outside before entering the pagoda.
Happyness R — Google review
Exquisite. Carefully preserved tooth relic of Buddha, kept in a majestic temple. What was touching, though, was the reverence displayed by a security guard who came forward respectfully to help in taking a photograph of the relic. The respect and veneration shown towards monks by the people of Myanmar is exemplary. In no pagoda are monks charged for tickets.

The Secretariat Yangon, also known as the Ministers' Building, is a Victorian-style brick complex in Myanmar. Constructed between 1889 and 1905 to house the British colonial government, it was designed by architect Henry Hoyne-Fox. Following independence, it served as the main Ministers Office until being abandoned when the government moved to Nay Pyi Taw in 2005.
The place has so much history. The stunning designs of Victorian-era architecture! But, when I went there, it was kind of noisy because of the Thadingyut festival and I wasn’t able to visit upstairs. But, otherwise, an amazing and historic place in Yangon
Kaung L — Google review
I visited The Secretariat in Yangon on January 9, and it’s a fascinating place to explore. This stunning Victorian-era building has so much charm and history. There’s a small entrance fee if you want to access the courtyard and go inside the building, which is worth it to fully experience the space. The site also has some lovely cafés and lunch spots, perfect for a break. I noticed a wedding planning company here as well, specializing in European-style honeymoons. It’s a wonderful mix of history, culture, and modern touches.
Tibor — Google review
The Secretariat Yangon is located in the downtown area of Yangon. Built during the colonial era, it reflects the architectural style of that time. It stands as a unique cultural heritage site and an important historic landmark in the city.
Okka K — Google review
The Secretariat in Yangon is a must-visit for history and architecture enthusiasts. This Victorian-colonial masterpiece, once the seat of British administration in Burma, spans almost 16 acres in the heart of Yangon. The building is undergoing a multi-year renovation, but parts of it, including the East Wing and North Wing, are open to the public. Visitors can explore museum and art exhibit spaces, cultural and private event spaces, guided tours, retail shops, restaurants, and commercial office spaces. The surrounding flowering gardens add to the charm of this historic landmark. It's a great spot for a short visit to soak in the rich history and beautiful architecture of Yangon.

Thanks to one previous review regarding the unworthy entry fee of 5k for foreigners. Noticed the fresh paint on the exterior of a few buildings, and the "no entry" notice at one corner. It is still free to casually browse along the other side of the restaurant and cafes. Hope spmeone could share an update on its prospective development of the exhibits in the future.

Best coffee in Yangon. Vegans they have a great selection of milks. I had the iced coconut latte which was delicious and they were happy to make my smoothie bowl with coconut milk instead of soy. I eat here 2 out of 3 days in Yangon and spent hours working here as well. Staff are super friendly and the location is great. Highly recommend

Nice place to chill alone and chat with a friend. Staffs are really nice and speak fluent English. And I had tea leaf salad and as per staffs they don’t use MSG or sugar in their foods which is very cool and the taste is also decent, I didn’t get to try their lemon tart since it’s only available on weekends. Will I visit there again tho? Maybe if I’m in the area and looking for a nice place to chill. Other than that, I don’t think I’ll go out of my way to visit there again.
Melody E — Google review
One of my very favourite places to eat in Yangon! The taste is good, the selection of vegetarian dishes is enough, price is fair, the staff is helpful and speaks good English and now they even have cakes during weekends from Monsieur Tart! It's just sad they aren't open after 6pm, otherwise this would be my go-to place for dinner.
Adriana — Google review
An absolutely fabulous brunch. Fantastic staff and reasonable pricing. Enjoyed the food. Simple and nice. I will definitely go there again. Seems they have rooms as well!! Yet to be explored. Loved the coffee and the green tea too.
Dilshan A — Google review
Really great food and incredibly good coffee, but prices are super expensive compared to other places in Myanmar/northern parts of Yangon. The hostel is nice but their bathroom needs a desperate update. Hot water didn’t work when I stayed there, and the toilet stalls are so small that a tall person has to bend their knees to the chest to sit...otherwise the place and staff is super nice.
C H — Google review
What a great find. Right in the heart of Yangon, I've just eaten the best breakfast ever. Check out their dragon fruit smoothie bowl. Lashings of fruit, granola, goji berries. Totally yummy. This place is a guest house too. Really friendly staff. Lovely, clean, stylish rooms. I don't normally give five stars lightly, but this place totally deserved it. Highly recommended.
Andy W — Google review
Nice atmosphere, friendly people, healthy food… this place is great! My husband and I stopped by here for a smoothie bowl (5,500 each) and a coffee (4,000 each) before visiting the Shwedagon Pagoda. Both of the smoothie bowls were delicious, but his yellow smoothie bowl was the standout. It was so thick, and irresistibly good. We also got the iced coconut latte (decent) and iced coconut Americano (SO GOOD!). I asked for a splash of coconut milk in the Americano, and it made it even better. Do it.

Hands down, this is the most elegant restaurant and bar in Yangon! It’s simply stunning and so lovely to see this building restored to its former glory. Friendly service and expat/foreigner prices but great quality dishes and drinks
David M — Google review
What a shame. Beautiful colonial restaurant. Lovely lovely staffs. The food that we ordered and that did arrived taste really good. Certain food seems to take forever. For us and other tables we realised. 1hour wait for the fish curry tiffin set. Bone marrow took more 1.15hr and arrived when we already asked for our bill and given up. Staffs seems super busy even thought the restaurant was not fully occupied. Order hot water, reminded 4 times, finally the last girl brought me some. If a restaurant that do no have food to serve their customers, no matter how good your deco and staffs are, it is unacceptable. Go if you have lost of time on your hand and dont mind the wait.

A real find. Great decor, attention to detail, good vibe and fitting music. Recommend checking out seating upstairs. Great cocktails, try the tamarind margarita for sure. I wish there were a few more vegetarian options on the menu, and the dessert menu somehow left me unmoved. They have wifi and don't mind laptops.

Get their grilled chicken. Best in town. Their pea shoot salad is also very nice. Their lamb biryani had a huge chunk of lamb. Don't get their duck si chat khauk swe noodle. It has a weird after taste and a bit salty.

Look, it's my 6th day in Myanmar - and it was the first time i liked local food With all the respect: i appreciate that this wonderful country last decades simply didn't have resources to develope sophisticated cuisine. When you survive, you don't care about different ways to cook certain parts of animal - you just eat protein (when you're lucky to get it) But - OMG. How good is it to eat food, cooked with understanding I wonder if i were in Paris, would i rate this place same high? But for Myanmar five stars are just not enough

The Strand Hotel Yangon is a luxurious historic hotel that was built in 1901 by the famous Sarkies brothers, who also created renowned hotels like Raffles Singapore and E & O Penang. This architectural masterpiece has been meticulously restored to maintain its Victorian charm, featuring elegant chandeliers, grand ceiling fans, and period furnishings. In 2016, the hotel underwent further renovations while preserving its iconic colonial architecture.
Just amazing !!!! Staff and rooms and service !!!! So amazing the hotel is open again ! Thank you

The Strand is where Yangon’s colonial past quietly lingers in polished teak floors and hushed hallways. It isn’t flashy, but it doesn’t need to be — it’s all about calm, discreet elegance. My stay was made memorable by people like Thae Thae at reception, whose warm welcome set the tone, and Yadanar, my butler, whose quiet attentiveness made everything effortless. Rooms are spacious and timeless, with high ceilings and old-world details balanced by modern comforts. Breakfast in the café is unhurried and refined, while the Strand Bar is perfect for an evening drink as the city’s humid dusk settles in. In a city changing fast, The Strand remains reassuringly steady — a small, enduring corner of grace and history.

This hotel gives me the impression that everything is perfect, whether it's the service, accommodation, or the environment. The receptionist Thae Thae and butler Hnin are all too kind, considerate, and warm. Next time, I will come again. One must praise it again.

🗝️ The Strand Yangon • Myanmar 🇲🇲 Always a nostalgic feeling when staying in an awe-inspiring Colonial landmarks. ‘Past Meets Presents’ if you are into luxury and old-world charm type of staycation. Built in 1901, this hotel is famed for likes of Raffles Hotel Singapore and Eastern & Oriental Hotel. In which, all these three famous hotels were built by the Sarkies Brothers. And yes, we have been to all of them. On top of that, The Strand Yangon is the 27th historical building in Yangon commemorated by a blue plaque or a historical marker by (YHT) The Yangon Heritage Trust. Our suite room comes with a personal butler, right in the middle of the building on the second floor. The staff were attentive to our needs. The only hiccup was the hot water in our room, understandable with the old building but can be better surely. So ecstatic to stay in one of the listed ‘Most Famous Hotels in the World’ — Checked and unto the next! #labonitaviajera #thegrumps #travellifestyle

Beautiful, gorgeous, delicious, clean, classy... these words can describe this awesome hotel This hotel was real highlight of our travels. The history of this place blown our minds and we felt like to travel back in time in beautiful hotel. The food was just so delicious we enjoyed every meal we had there with no regrets. The pool side and spa area are awesome. The salty pool just puts crown on top :) Original pieces of minimum age of 70 years gave us goose skin.. Have to thank to Grace, Mark and all of staff in hotel... They were absolutely great support during out stay on this hotel and without them it wouldn't be complete. Thank you for having us :)

I will start by staining I cannot comment on the rooms as I have not stayed there but was there for afternoon tea and also drinks in the bar. The drinks were great and I can highly recommend it but the afternoon tea was extremely disappointing. The food was dry and it felt like it had been frozen and defrosted. The bread was stale and one of the puddings was off. For such a highly rated hotel I would expect a lot more l, especially as for that price you could eat for a couple of days in a local good restaurant. We tried both the Myanmar and English versions and neither was great.
Karl L — Google review
Excellent hotel, fantastic staff, breakfasts were delicious, everyday we had something different from the menu (this isn’t a standard buffet breakfast), the pool as like a heavenly retreat at the end of a hot day. Had a wonderful massage, therapist was excellent. Loved the decor, the rooms and personal Butler service, this was such a nice touch to have fresh pot of coffee or tea delivered 24/7.Only down side is the air conditioning unit was noisy, management might need to review this. Otherwise perfect stay.

Our two nights stay was part of our honeymoon travel and it was an excellent experience. Lovely old colonial hotel. Bar has a very posh feeling about it but welcomed in with my shorts and flip flops. Got there at 16:45, just before happy hour on the Friday.
