Festival
Museumsuferfest is a significant and large art and cultural festival in Europe, drawing millions of visitors to Frankfurt's Main Bank annually. The festival celebrates the unique Museumsufer, where various museums line the banks of the Main River. Visitors can explore a wide range of national and international art and cultural history, from classical painting to modern sculpture.
The Museumsuferfest is an awesome fest located on the banks of the Main in Frankfurt. It celebrates the numerous museums located in the area. There is tons of food, wine, beer, and music. Most of the stands are cash only.
Stephen — Google review
Amazing food & fire works - this is the biggest, must-not-misses of Frankfurt.... This fest does not have rides. Carry enough cash; fireworks begin at 10.00 pm... Occupy any uncrowded place, you can watch them from anywhere basically.
Anish S — Google review
Absolutely no plan where cars should be parked. You need to find a parking spot on the street yourself in a residential area. Too crowded. Few places to sit down or throw away trash. Maybe it’s nice if you live in Frankfurt, but coming from out of town with small kids is more pain than fun. You can’t just close a few streets, set up a bunch of food stands and call it a fest.
Radoš L — Google review
It was wonderful to see a fest like this in Frankfurt. Very nice arrangement for securities purpose.

The Frankfurt Book Fair, held annually in mid-October for almost 500 years, is the largest event in the publishing industry. It brings together publishers, writers, and creative professionals from around the world for a week of discussions, networking, and celebrating literature. The fair features trade stands, tours, seminars, and a dedicated section for children's books. Each year showcases a guest country with its culture and book variety.
Super Bookfair, recommended for all publisher to attend and participate
Tamer R — Google review
This is the first time I visit Frankfurter Buchmesse. It is really a giant book exhibition and you can spend your whole day or even the whole weekend there. There are 6 Halls with full of book stalls from many countries over the world. Books vary from all kinds, famous and new authors, from different printing formats and publishers. It is quite interesting. If you are a book lover, this is indeed a must-visit place during this time of the year in Frankfurt. Outside of the halls are drink and food services so no worries if you are hungry. Ticket price is a bit expensive but it worths as there is a lot to read, to learn and to see books from different countries and cultures.

It is my annual station, i like to see what's new share a new experience and have a look what the new guest country prepared, each year there is a guest country, for this year Slovenia did a great job to interoduce their culture and book variety. The Fair is really big and you can count at least to spend four to six hours if you want to dive through different continents. And of course some place could be packed as i show in the photo.

Park
Christmas Garden Frankfurt is a must-see attraction during the winter season. The event features a magical display of lights spread across a large area, creating the illusion of a huge winter wonderland. While some visitors have mentioned that there aren't many attractions and it may not be worth the entry fee, others have enjoyed the experience, especially if you're visiting for the first time. There's also a Christmas Market at the end where you can purchase gluhwein, snacks, and food to enjoy.
I have read many negative feedback on this, However I still wanted to give it a try. However i went along with my friends and family on 25th itself. If you come by car then There are plenty of place to park near Entry gate you just need to be a little early to reach. Else come by Tram 21 last stop and then 2 mins walking distance from there. Best if you book entry slot of 4.30 PM. Being a first time to Christmas Garden we enjoyed it a lot.It had many good lighting decorations and all the lighting were working. It had few shops as well to refresh and eat. Wonderful experience.
Anand S — Google review
There isn't many attractions and it isn't worth 19€. Have been to a similar event in Köln which is way better than Christmas Garden Frankfurt. Attractions are spread across the large area to create an illusion of an huge event. Many areas around the stadium is just blank. There is a Christmas Market at the end where you can buy glühwein, snacks and some food. Enjoyed the 2hrs spend here. Two parking place are near by. If you manage to reach early you can get a spot at the P8 parking place else at the Waldparkplatz which is 1.5km away. Both places charge you a flat rate of 6€. Walking route from Waldparkplatz to the Christmas Garden is well indicated.
Vishnuprasad — Google review
Was a beautiful experience! It's perfect when you go there with family or with somebody you love. The trip will be almost 2 hours with taking photos. You'll have also some cabin from where you can buy drinks/food.
Bogdan C — Google review
Would give no stars if possible. Don’t waste your money, it’s absolutely rubbish, a money-grabbing enterprise. At arrival, we had to pay 8 euros for parking, no way out of it. They have a “family ticket”, but even though we are a family, couldn’t get it because we had no small children with us. The signs point in two different directions, with no explanation. We took the left one and ended up in the saddest Christmas market ever, where we paid full-price to drink mulled wine in an empty, badly-lit, cold hall. When we realized that we took a bad turn, we tried to turn back to see the main event. It was shortly before 9:30pm. A man blocked us, and said that the show and toilets were closed and that we had to leave. When we pointed out that the garden was supposed to close at 10pm, and that there was enough time for us to see the lights, he just said in a very rude manner that we should take a couple of pictures of the lights in front of us and go, that is, they KICKED US OUT at 9:30pm, full 30 minutes before the end and only shortly after we got there. When we tried to point that out, they laughed at us and asked derisively where we were from. My daughter was in tears. Long story short: we paid 120 Euros for 30 minutes of some random lights and to hear some xenophobic abuse from security.
Yagwarete Y — Google review
Absolutely abysmal experience. Arrived at 8:45. Had to pay 8 euros for park and 23 euros per person. So 100 euros for 4 people. Website said it was open till 10pm but we were kicked out by extremely rude staff at 9:20 who left my grandaughter in in tears and didnt let us even use the toilet on the way out. So we never even got to see the main lights in the stadium. From what I saw I personally have better lights in my garden - take your family out to the xmas market or for a nice meal instead of paying to be abused by staff. Please don't give these co artists money.
Alexander W — Google review
Magical display of lights. A must see during the winter season.
Sa H — Google review
Very disappointing experience. First of all, there is not enough parking space on P8 parking lot (which costs actually, 8 euros!), so when we arrived, we were staying around 15 minutes in line before entering this parking lot on car, only to find out that this parking space is full and we have to drive to another parking space (which is 15 min away from the entrance if you go by foot, by the way). Ok, we got to this parking space, it was already almost 30 minutes late. Then we go by foot 15 minutes with small daughter and freezing wind from this parking space to the entrance of this garden. Finally we arrived 45 minutes late. And we were walking around 30 minutes through and didn't find anything interesting there, except on carousel. It doesn't worth 18 euros for each person at all! (By the way, when we got to the entrance, there is one car that was let to drive to the parking space, although others were sent away!)
Anton E — Google review
It is just a disaster. First - price, it just do not worth to pay 20 euros for that. Second - parking +8 euros. Third, half of the route you just walking in the mud. Also had talk with some guard there - very rude. It is not something you expect when you are paying for being there. So, never again.

Festival
Dippemess Jahrmarkt in Frankfurt a.M. is a traditional folk festival that takes place twice a year, in spring and autumn. The fair features a variety of attractions, including mechanical rides and party pavilions offering German and international delicacies. It's known for its lively atmosphere with music and beer everywhere, making it an enjoyable experience for the whole family.
I visited the Dippemess area in Frankfurt, where temporary events like funfairs or circuses often take place. This time, there was an amusement park set up from April 11th to May 4th. The whole place looked amazing and had a great vibe. It’s a fun experience for both kids and adults. I really enjoyed the rides and the cheerful atmosphere. Just be aware that food can be overpriced — for example, a döner that usually costs around €7 was €9 here. Still, it’s a great spot to spend time and have fun.
Jalaluddin S — Google review
There are quite a lot of fun rides for both kids and adults and a variety of food stalls.
Li-Chen L — Google review
Food could be better and there is no parking. But there are a lot of fun activities to do with families

Largest fun fair and traditional Volksfest in Frankfurt. Always nice to visit and enjoy a great time with friends and family. Be aware of a very bad parking situation - better use public transportation. Lately the Dippemess is always closed on Mondays!

Conference & Convention Centers
Messe Frankfurt is a modern complex that hosts trade fairs, conferences, and major events like rock concerts. It organizes 349 diverse events annually, focusing on various sectors such as artificial intelligence, renewable energy, mobility concepts, and Smart Cities. The Westend area near Messe Frankfurt is recommended for business travelers and families due to its proximity to the trade fair and family-friendly attractions. Additionally, the area offers a variety of restaurants and hotels clustered around the exhibition center and shopping plaza.
A huge and modern exhibition center, perfectly organized to host large-scale international events. The halls are spacious, well signposted, and easy to navigate. Facilities are clean and staff are professional. Overall, a smooth and efficient experience during the trade fair.

One of the largest exhibition and trade fair venues you can visit in Europe. It consists of several huge halls and other buildings that create a truly unique whole that could easily accommodate the world's largest events. If you have the opportunity to attend an event that takes place here, definitely take it.
Adam P — Google review
Nice Messe little bit complicated for Sibos, due to security check in process
Parastoo F — Google review
It is very huge and really good potential European and world buyers for sale of your items directly to B2C or B2B. But little bad in commutation at the time of ending times of fair. This should be little checked and controlled. Though Europe is not habitual of such kind of crowd handling. Otherwise a good fair place and other amenities within.
Arun R — Google review
The book fair was a great thing. It was overcrowded. Even though many of the exhibitors I was interested in were on their way home. For the next visit, I will visit the fair on the first day instead of the last. It should not be. I found it fascinating to see which people joined this event.

Opernplatz in Frankfurt is a central meeting point and has been the site of the Opernplatzfest since 1978. The festival features theater performances, music, and gourmet food. Even outside of the festival, it's a beautiful place often used for celebrations or simply as a nice spot to visit. The square is historically significant, as it used to be a city gate within Frankfurt's fortifications. It's also an ideal starting point for exploring the former ramparts around the city center.
Central meeting point in the middle of Frankfurt. Restaurant and shops abound. There used to be a city gate at this spot within Frankfurt's city fortifications . The Bockenheimer Gate and the Bockenheimer Landstrasse connected to it led through the Frankfurt district as far as the town of Bockenheim . In the Middle Ages, the town, which was incorporated in 1895, lay outside the Frankfurter Landwehr , which enclosed the district. Shortly after the gate, the Mainzer Landstrasse branched off from the Bockenheimer Landstrasse in a southwesterly direction. After the city walls around the town centre were demolished, what is now the Opernplatz lay between the Taunusanlage and the Bockenheimer Anlage . City architect Johann Georg Christian Hess had a neoclassical portal built there to highlight the medieval significance of the square. The portal was torn down in 1875, however, to make room for an opera house. The building, now known as the Alte Oper, was completed in 1880 and was one of the largest of its time. Initially, only part of the square surrounding the opera was called Opernplatz ; The actual Bockenheimer Tor, which was in front of the main entrance, initially kept its name. Today's Frankfurt Opera, however, is located on Willy-Brandt-Platz - which is sometimes confusing for visitors from outside the city . Handicap ♿️ doable. Recommended

Zoos & Aquariums
Established in 1858, Zoo Frankfurt is home to a diverse array of animal species thriving in naturalistic environments. The zoo is one of the top attractions in Frankfurt, alongside other popular sights like Romerberg, Stadel Museum, and Palmengarten. Visitors can immerse themselves in local culture and explore the city's vibrant restaurant scene.
The zoo is very picturesque! Nicely decorated and great it is good for a weekend family activity. Lots of different animals from all corners of earth, but don't expect to see them all since their enclosures are very big and they often hide. The food is also great and I definitely recommend it!
Nika Š — Google review
Pretty great zoo, pretty quiet when I visited. Great variety of animals and species I had never seen before. Loved all of the birds! Pity the shops in the zoo were cash only though! But I enjoyed my time at the zoo with my photos. I would recommend but wouldnt need all day to visit!
Jeremy A — Google review
The reptile and nocturnal houses were really cool! Coming from the United States there were a lot of animals I don't see very often in American zoos. It's small-ish in size but they really pack in a lot of animals without feeling like they're in small enclosures. We got here late in the day and spent about 2.5 hours here but we could've spent another hour or two.
Jordan B — Google review
What a fantastic day at the Frankfurt Zoo! A definite highlight for me was the penguin 🐧🐧🐧🐧 enclosure. They are so charming and fun to watch as they waddle around and swim gracefully in the water. The whole zoo is beautifully laid out with so many amazing animals to see. Highly recommend it for a perfect day out! ❤️❤️❤️
Ірина Ф — Google review
It's a small zoo, do not plan to visit for longer than two hours. It's nice but definitely not a destination. Small kids would enjoy a visit, it's not too full with people and you can easily get around on foot. Make sure to bring cash though if you're planning on having a snack (they do not accept anything else. Also Beware, the coffee at the park is a crime against humanity! The dark habitat and the reptile and rodent pavilion deserve a special mention, the animals all seem well taken care of and the enclosures look adequate for the inhabitants. Absolutely worth a visit.
Inna Y — Google review
We had been so looking forward to visiting the zoo in Frankfurt. But it was a complete disappointment. You had to look for a long time for a place to buy either coffee or something to eat. Where were the giraffes? Elephants, lions and tigers. We had been most looking forward to seeing them. There were none of these animals, so definitely not worth the money. So we left very disappointed.
Liskoertz A — Google review
On the good side, there are many kinds of animals, lush and pretty easy to walk around as it’s not too large. The downside was that it’s a bit worn down and old, we didn’t see any lions, tigers and other animals. One penguin looked like it was screaming and dying. Other guests were not too respectful to the animals, banging on the glass wall and pouring water on them. It’s fine for the price though, but 1,5 hours was enough.
Susannah R — Google review
Nice place. However almost every second sign next to an animal says: this species is endangered. Makes you a little bit sad. It is a good place to show people how serious the situation is in some countries.

Alte Oper is a historic opera house in Frankfurt, originally opened in 1880 and reconstructed after World War II. It offers classical concert programs and stands as one of the city's cultural landmarks alongside other attractions like Romerberg, Romer, Archaeological Museum & Garden, and Frankfurt Cathedral. The city also boasts a vibrant cultural scene with venues such as Schirn Kunsthalle and the German Architecture Museum.
Visiting the Old Opera House in Frankfurt was truly a magical experience. As I approached the building, I was immediately struck by its grand architecture – the intricate details, the grand columns, and the way it majestically stands against the modern skyline. It felt like stepping back in time to an era of elegance and classical beauty. Inside, the atmosphere was equally enchanting. The acoustics were incredible, and whether it’s a concert or just a casual visit, the ambiance transports you to a world of music and art. I couldn't help but admire the beautiful chandeliers and classic interior design, which add to the timeless charm of the place. Overall, the Old Opera House is a must-see in Frankfurt, whether you're an opera enthusiast or simply looking to experience a piece of the city's cultural heritage. I highly recommend adding it to your itinerary!
森野照葉 — Google review
First time entering this gorgeous building and it didn't disappoint. The staff were friendly and available , the auditorium spacious and acoustically good. You do need to take out a bank loan for a drink at the interval but all in all a great place for a show
ScooterVonHootananny — Google review
The Frankfurt Opera is without question one of Europe’s finest cultural treasures. From the moment you step inside, you feel the blend of tradition and modernity that makes this house so unique. The acoustics are outstanding – no matter where you sit, the sound is rich, balanced, and powerful, allowing every detail of the orchestra and singers to be fully appreciated. The productions are consistently world-class. The repertoire strikes an impressive balance between beloved classics and bold contemporary works, offering something for both seasoned opera lovers and newcomers. Stage design, lighting, and direction are often daring and innovative, yet always respectful of the music and story. The orchestra performs with extraordinary precision and warmth, and the ensemble cast is among the strongest in Europe, with many performances easily rivaling those in Vienna, Berlin, or Milan. The experience is not only about the performance itself. The atmosphere in the foyer is elegant but not pretentious, with a welcoming feel that makes the evening special. Staff are professional and helpful, from ticketing to ushers, contributing to a smooth and enjoyable visit. The venue is also centrally located, making it easy to combine a performance with dinner or a walk through Frankfurt’s lively city center. Overall, the Frankfurt Opera offers an unforgettable experience that sets a high bar for musical and cultural excellence. Whether you are a devoted opera enthusiast or simply curious about the art form, a visit here is absolutely worthwhile.

Kleinmarkthalle is a bustling market hall in Frankfurt, housing over 60 vendors offering a diverse range of groceries, flowers, wine, and prepared foods. It is located close to the famous Zeil shopping street and features 156 stalls open every day except Sunday. Visitors can explore an array of fresh produce including cheese, meat, vegetables, fruit, confectionery, bread, and pastries from the region.
This is a must visit in Frankfurt, It has dozens of independent market stalls offering almost anything food related you can think of. many vendors offer free samples of products so you can try before you buy. Me and my girlfriend brought dried fruits, pineapple and apple, to make this decision the vendor gave us samples of about 10 different products. we also tried several cheeses and meats. this place is even fun to go and browse. prices were reasonable. close to other near by attractions.

On a long layover in Frankfurt, our family stumbled upon a charming local market. It's very much a food-centric spot, with tempting street food everywhere – we just wished we weren't so full! We did find some authentic German honey and beautiful plants. It's a fantastic place to escape the heat, offering a cool indoor experience on a sunny day. My only regret was not finding a souvenir that could survive the journey home in warm weather.

Kleinmarkthalle is such a fun place to spend a lunch time or afternoon! There’s so many places to get delicious food and drinks and it has a really electric atmosphere! We visited on a weekend and the market was extended to stands outside, which were packed. It is definitely one to expect to be crowded but it was well worth the visit. I would recommend going for drinks so that you can walk around and pick up some deli ingredients for snacks 😋.

If you want to feel the heartbeat of Frankfurt, look no further than Kleinmarkthalle. This indoor market is a vibrant and bustling hub where locals and visitors mingle, offering a slice of authentic German daily life with an international twist. From the moment you walk through the entrance — a simple but welcoming sign urging you “Auf die Kleinmarkthalle!” — you know you’re in for a treat. The market is alive with the hum of conversations, the aroma of fresh produce, and the dazzling colors of fruits, vegetables, flowers, and baked goods. Inside, the variety is stunning. You’ll find gorgeous cakes and tarts, like the ones beautifully displayed here: crumbly Streuselkuchen, glossy strawberry tarts, and towering cheesecakes dusted with powdered sugar. Each looks homemade, hearty, and utterly irresistible — perfect for a midday treat or a sweet souvenir. Further down the lanes, stalls burst with fresh produce: juicy strawberries, brilliant red currants, exotic fruits, and an impressive display of white asparagus (Spargel), a true German spring delicacy. Fresh mushrooms and artisan products add to the rich variety, and everything is beautifully laid out, making it a pleasure just to browse. The layout of the hall is practical yet charming. Upstairs, there’s a mezzanine where you can get a bird’s-eye view of the market’s bustle below — a sea of stalls and colorful canopies. Small eateries and cafés are scattered around, perfect for taking a break and sampling the local flavors. One charming find is Mathilda, a stand advertising homemade brownies and tarts, with a playful chalkboard encouraging you to “Eat cake!” — sound advice when surrounded by such delicious temptation. Navigating the market is easy, with wide aisles and a relaxed vibe that invites slow wandering. Despite its central location, Kleinmarkthalle retains a sense of local authenticity — it’s not just a tourist attraction but a beloved part of Frankfurt life.
Clifton P — Google review
Small market, similar to markets in major cities in USA and Canada. There is a small old German woman run shop near entrance called "SCHREIBER" She sells boiled sausages had the.mix pork and beef & yellow sausage pretty good. And another store on same side but opposite end is "GREF- OoLSINGS" had a fried pork patty with vegetables and herbs mixed in between bun and mustard very tasty and cheap.

Green Sauce Festival GmbH is a company that organizes an event celebrating the old Hessian specialty, green sauce. (Translated by Google) Green sauce originates from Frankfurt and is prepared with at least seven herbs. "Frankfurter Grie Soß" has been protected by the German Geographical Indication (PGI) since 2016. It's apparently just a legend that Mrs. Aja (mother of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe) invented green sauce. But we Frankfurters love it and the various ways it's prepared (yogurt, sour cream, with/without mayo). I even grew all the herbs in my small ornamental garden. I especially like serving it with fried fish on Fridays. Traditionally, it's served with boiled beef or simply with boiled eggs and potatoes—especially in apple wine bars. The "Green Sauce Festival" has been around since 2008. The artist Maja Wolff (who, incidentally, ran for mayor in 2023) and cultural worker Torsten Müller came up with the idea of establishing a multi-day festival at the Rossmarkt, where visitors could taste and vote on the "green sauce" skills of around 49 restaurateurs. For me, it's not really a competition, but simply a gathering of Frankfurt residents, people working in Frankfurt, and guests, who can also enjoy other delicacies from the food trucks (Argentinian, Korean, for example, or Lebanese). The apple wine comes from Nöll, the Riesling from Allendorf, the beer from Bräustüberl Darmstadt – all wonderfully regional! During the day, (mostly local) bands perform, while the evening program features guest artists from comedy, cabaret, and music. Next Wednesday, May 22, 2025, it'll even feature Gayle Tufts. An absolute MUST-SEE for me! Hopefully, 2025 won't be the end of this annual spring spectacle (due to cost constraints).

An amazing market! There are lots of unique street foods, and you can casually enjoy drinks while strolling around. The shawarma is huge, packed with chicken, super filling, and only costs €10. I also highly recommend the strawberry wine—it’s made with fresh, sweet strawberries, has a low alcohol content, and tastes just like a fruit cocktail. Definitely worth it for €4!
