Cultural Events
Aloha Festivals is an annual celebration in Hawaii that offers a vibrant display of the island's rich cultural heritage through music, dance, and parades. The festivities provide a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the spirit of Aloha with free events spread across Honolulu. Visitors can enjoy highlights such as the colorful floral parade and diverse performances that bring to life the traditions and stories of Hawaii's communities.
The Waikiki Hoolaulea is back. Perfect place for locals and tourists to get out every year and enjoy good food, good music, and good culture. 4 entertainment stages, a plethora of food and craft / gift booths, and peeps from all over the world visiting. Great to see this festival back in full swing, culminating the month with a grand parade down Waikiki a week later.

The Honolulu Festival is a popular cultural event in Hawaii that aims to foster harmony between the people of Hawaii and the Pacific Rim. Since 1995, this free annual festival has been showcasing dance performances and traditional art demonstrations from countries around the Pacific Ocean. Held over a weekend in early March, the festival attracts both residents and visitors who come together to celebrate the diverse blend of cultures found in the Hawaiian Islands.
Fun, small town parade vibe. Surprisingly, you'll need to get there early to get a spot with a good view. The parade certainly needed to go faster (they were releasing each group quite slow and should condensed them further). Favorite parts were the marching bands by far. Huala studios were a close second. The corvette club was a bunch of old men in their corvettes with the various princesses atop. The VW club was kind of neat. The parade could really use a Marshall to send groups at pre-defined periodic intervals. We ended up going to dinner because the official parade is *4* hours long! That's just ridiculous. Please, please, please send the groups faster, and with more consistency. Keep them moving! I understand the need to stop at 100m intervals for performances, but they should be running to catch up after that. Please limit the corvette club to just the "Miss ___" winners.

3/2025 Awesome experience for the kids and adults alike. Two day annual event at the convention center culminating in a parade and fabulous fireworks show from Nagoya. 😉🤙✌️

NEWS FLASH!!! PLEASE KEEP YOUR NEXT YEAR'S (2025) MID-MARCH schedule open for Honolulu Festival events. This year the parade started at around 4:30 PM on Sunday, March 10th. The Honolulu Festival once again came to Oahu and Waikiki over the weekend of Saturday, March 9th through Sunday, March 10th, 2024. You won't want to miss these memorable attractions in 2025, especially the high octain parade featuring energetic singing and dancing on Sunday which began at around 2:30PM until 8:00PM according to published reports. But, come early in order to secure your seat or standing room space. Then, come and enjoy the activities as well as various booths found in the Hawaii Convention Center. The festival concluded, on the evening of Sunday, March 10th with another festival highlight (please view my snapshots). Featured was the world-famous Nagaoka fireworks team set to blast off from 8:30 PM on Sunday evening with fiery, booming aerial displays off of Waikiki beach. For me, last year and again this year, Fort DeRussey Park was the IDEAL viewing location. In both 2023 and again in 2024 my view was never obstructed. Again, next year, please come early in order to secure your place to sit or stand. I saw the Nagaoka fireworks in person last March, 2023 and again in March 2024. They blew me away. I promise YOU, the masterful display will impress. YOU and your family will not be disappointed. I personally believe that they are the VERY BEST across Japan and throughout the world. Yes. I'm biased. I grew up in Aizu, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. Nagaoka City is in Niigata Prefecture just across the Prefectural (State) border. However. I believe you'll also join me soon in extolling their praises!!! :):):) PLEASE NOTE: Kindly consult the Honolulu festival website for full activity details and their respective times. Enjoy the weekend. ALSO, PLEASE feel absolutely free to forward this clip on to family, friends, business associates and neighbors. It promises to be a FUN, informative, culture-filled, exciting weekend. See YOU there!!! ANOTHER RECOMMENDATION: For those of you who are unable to attend, PLEASE check out the Nagaoka Fireworks on the internet and YouTube. Enjoy the show(s).

Organizers of the Honolulu Festival and Nagaoka Fireworks should think about the huge environmental cost of their extra loud polluting (noise, air and water) fireworks shows. Our houses shook, our animals freaked out from the booms and noise.

(Translated by Google) One of Hawaii's largest cultural exchange festivals, it has been held every year in early March in Honolulu since it was first held in 1995. Many Japanese groups, university circles, and performers participated, and the event was held at the convention center and the Ala Moana Shopping Center stage. The parade will be held on Waikiki Kalakaua Boulevard from the evening of the final day, Sunday, and you can enjoy the festival atmosphere to the fullest. The finale will be the Nagaoka fireworks that will be launched at 8:30 p.m.! Compared to American fireworks, they are higher, bigger and more spectacular! We placed a bulk order of lanyards and notebooks, and we couldn’t be more satisfied with the entire experience. The team was incredibly easy to work with, accommodating all our customization requests seamlessly. Communication was smooth, and they kept us informed every step of the way. What impressed us the most was that the order arrived ahead of schedule, which helped us stay on track for our event. The quality of both the lanyards and notebooks exceeded our expectations, and we will definitely be ordering again in the future. Highly recommend!

Shone, with Made in Hawaii, has been very responsive and professional during our transaction. I also have to praise the customer service our group received when an issue did arise. This company is honest and will take care of you, and there is something to be said for a company that makes the situation right. I would absolutely work with them again, and highly recommend.

Made in Hawaii...with Aloha and compassion! Despite the company's holiday demand, Shone heard my story, and came to my rescue! Shone has never met me, but he treated me as if I was a special friend. His design for the wine labels was perfect for our bridal shower coming up tomorrow! Made in Hawaii produced the wine labels in a super Rush Order and I can only thank Shone and the professional service I was given by Made in Hawaii for their special attention to my emergency request.

Aloha, John Cruz and I really appreciate the quality and Aloha! It so nice to work with a local company that has the capability to create and produce great quality merchandise in such a timely fashion. If you’re looking for a great Graphic Artist & Screen Printing, embroidery you name it within this work LOOK NO FURTHER 🎶‼️🤓👍
Ka'io M — Google review
Made in Hawaii 808 was excellent to work with. They are a local company and they were able to do a rushed project for us. We did a fundraiser for the Maui Food Bank, had our logo embroidered onto tote bags, and presented to the silent auction winners. The product was well made, and the embroidery was consistent. We have done smaller jobs with Made in Hawaii 808 in the past, and will definitely use them in the future!
Samantha S — Google review
Made in Hawaii was great from start to finish. They made it so easy to email the graphic design to them as an attachment, correspond about my printing needs. The sales department sent me a cost proposal very quickly and helped guide me through the process. The job was completed two days ahead of schedule, and the printing is sensational. This company is excellent and I would recommend them to everyone. Good communication, competitive pricing, detailed cost proposal, friendly, open to discussing ideas for what I wanted to achieve, made helpful suggestions, and then delivered on what they promised. It doesn't get any better than this..... Highly recommend this company

What a great production team! My school club needed 300 stickers on a tight turnaround. We sent our .jpg file to the team, and it needed to be reworked, so their in-house graphic team re-created it to purr-fection and cranked out our stickers super fast. High quality, reasonable costs, incredible professional service. We will definitely be a return customer!

The Hawaii Food & Wine Festival is the state's largest annual culinary event, showcasing the islands' farmers, fishermen, and ranchers. It brings together local and international chefs to collaborate in highlighting Hawaii's sustainable agricultural traditions. The festival offers a fantastic culinary experience with new ideas, products, and experiences every year. It features gatherings of well-known local and nationwide chefs along with world-class wines.
One of my favorite times of the year is HFWF SZN. A fantastic culinary experience hosted by locals highlighting chefs from around the world coming together to collaborate in the islands. Every year the HFWF has something new to offer: ideas, products , experiences and friends to meet in the industry. The shared visions between HFWF & Hawaii Ag Foundation for promoting ag education, sustainability and cultural programs has been impactful in the community and I'm delighted to see this event flourish year after year. Next year will be 15 years - WOW Congratulations HFWF!

Anna is such a phenomal stylist! I'm picky where I get my haircuts now that I'm thinning up top. I explained my situation and asked for open feedback/input. She took her time and gave valuable insight into how I can manage my hair. I thought I was doomed to the combover, but she was able to give me a trendy, age appropriate, spikey look 😍. I'll be back in two weeks! Thanks Anna!
Traveling M — Google review
I went in for a basic trim. I asked for 2 inch trim. I did not ask for anything else. The hairdresser decided to layer my hair and thin my hair. I did NOT ask for layers or for my hair to be thinned. My hair is already fine and thin it did not need to be thinned. I wear my hair in braids for work. My hairs falls out of the braids very easy due to my hair type and adding layers and thinning my hair makes it just fall of the the braid. I look like a frizzy mess in like an hour. It is going to take me forever to grow my hair back to where it was before.

I had a wonderful experience at May’s Salon! They were super easy to schedule with and even without a Groupon deal, their prices are very reasonable. Tao cut my hair and did a beautiful job. We had a lovely conversation and he was also really efficient; I was in and out with a great layered cut in only 40 minutes. Definitely planning to go back in the future!
Sarah M — Google review
I had my first haircut since the pandemic. I have really long hair and they cut 3 inches off and it looked and felt great. I have been back once since and cut another 2 inches off. I really trust them. My partner has been there 3 times now and they do a really good job on his hair. Last time he went he wanted to cut it real short and they said no because they knew I wouldn't like it lol

June Fabrics is a hidden gem that offers a wide array of vibrant fabrics for sewing and home decor projects. The store boasts an extensive collection of Hawaiian prints, including the lively color palette trending in high fashion and interior design. Visitors can also immerse themselves in the vivid radiance of Oahu by attending the annual King Kamehameha Floral Parade, which features brightly decorated floats and horse riders every June in Honolulu.
Such a fun place, with thousands of inexpensive Hawaiian fabrics under one roof. I bought some rayon and some cotton pieces for making dresses and tops. My suitcase home was heavy, but it was worth it.
Zina W — Google review
Great service from the June family! I bought over 50 yards of fabric and wish I bought more. Their selection has definitely increased since I was last here 2 years ago. Great range of tapa, barkcloth, cotton, rayon and poly cotton. They also have some dead stock from the 70s-80s, buttons and zips. Hawaiian and Japanese prints, plus basics like plain cotton, rayon, satin, etc.
Bex H — Google review
I bought fabric for some projects and I am so glad I stopped by! The prints were different from the other stores, there are nice upholstery type of fabrics and Palaka style as well!! The owners are super nice and I will be coming back soon if I need more fabric

Got lost, but found it. Arrived There early, so parking was a breeze. Great place to visit if you are not a local. If you love sewing, you will love this place. Most Hawaiian prints are $4.50 and solids are $4/yard. Cotton material. Very thin, but the prints are beautiful. Many other type of material, beautiful lace. I didn’t price the other stuff. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone. Appears it is family on and they were very friendly. Mom, dad and Son? I got a total of 10 yards and paid $40.52. Will definitely come back here again if and when I come back to Hawaii.
Linda R — Google review
We found this place while looking for fabrics for baby pictures. They have so many beautiful fabrics and prints. The staff were very friendly and quick to help. This isn't a fancy shop, but they do have a great variety.
Rachel S — Google review
If you want to be followed around the store and told “don’t touch those bc we don’t want to fold them again” then this is the place for you! I brought two professional seamstress in who wanted to buy a lot of fabric for a project but I kindly directed them to another store bc I refuse to allow them to be treated like kids or criminals. I’ll never bring another person here to be treated poorly! I HOPE NO SHOPS HERE!!

This place is a true hidden gem. I met a woman at a craft fair that told me about June Fabrics and I was not expecting much. But the experience was great, I arrived soon after they opened and the people working were very hospitable. I picked out some palaka fabrics (they have plenty different colors) and the price was so good compared to other places on island, cheaper than Walmart and I get to support local. The place was very big and they had a great selection!

The Hawai‘i International Film Festival (HIFF) is a must-visit event for movie enthusiasts, showcasing films by Asian, Pacific Islander, and Hawaiian filmmakers. Despite the challenges of 2020, HIFF pulled off an incredible event with screenings in theaters, drive-ins, and online. The staff's warm welcome made the experience even more enjoyable. This year's HIFF40 featured a diverse range of genres from classic movies to blockbusters and local dramas.
The HIFF staff killed it! Through all the challenges of 2020, they made an incredible event happen. To be able to screen films theatres, drive-ins, and online is not an easy task, but they did it effortlessly. I was very lucky to be able to attend part of the festival for my film screenings, and every member was so warm and welcoming. The Drive-In experience was DOPE. 10/10 would recommend. I wish I had more time to see all the films! Shout out to Anderson Le, Jen May, and Aaron Hansen! Thank you!
Mallorie O — Google review
HIFF is a is one of the best events in Hawaii for movie lovers. Every year, they bring top of the line movies from the film festival circuit and tons of the best local films from Hawaii and the Pacific. It is a great and underrated festival. This year they had a bunch of drive-ins and tons of online films in response to the pandemic. Great alternative to the beach and Netflix!
Aaron L — Google review
Every year i've attended HIFF, the festival has never failed to surprise and delight with international films and filmmakers I would have not discovered otherwise. In addition the panels, talks and special free events make it worth hanging out a bit later. Love that they offered online and Drive-in Screenings this pandemic year to keep everyone safe. It was a fun throwback vibe at Ala Moana Shopping Center under the Hawaiian stars to see the newest Asia-Pacific films!

Itʻs not over yet, but I have to say I have been so impressed with HIFF40 this year! Not only did they pivot seamlessly to online with COVID, but they also offered an incredible variety of other opportunities for film-philes, including drive-in movies, in person screenings, and lots of really valuable industry talks. Iʻve been consistently impressed with the caliber of films HIFF manages to bring to our shores, and this year was no different. Major props to their team for delivering another incredible festival, despite the challenges! Itʻs all the more meaningful this year!
Ciara L — Google review
Been attending since I was young and HIFF never ceases to amaze with the selection of incredible films from around the world -- something for everyone, really -- fun events, talk stories, and a real sense of community. During COVID they were able to bring all of this to the world at large. Lucky me: I got to attend even when away from home. I especially like how they support the community through their education initiatives and community-minded programming. Seriously one of the best film festivals out there.

I am so glad that HIFF is being responsible this year and still providing new, quality films from around the world while practicing proper safety procedures. I have been watching online, but also did one of the drive-in experiences at Ala Moana. It felt really awesome to be able to watch films on the big screen again. Thank you HIFF!
Adrian A — Google review
Love that HIFF provides a platform for local and international filmmakers to showcase their talents and stories! 2020 has been a rough year but HIFF's efforts to showcase films through drive-ins and online streaming has been a nice and comfortable escape from our everyday struggles.
Jeremy M — Google review
I’m enjoying HIFF40. In this crazy year, HIFF has added drive-in and virtual screenings to its in-theater format, allowing more people locally as well as the rest of the world to access the best Asian and Pacific films in a variety of genres, from Ann Hui’s classic movies to Asian blockbusters, to Hawaiian and South Pacific dramas and documentaries. Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom and Ainu Mosir were cultural gems, while Story Game and Charity gave a nod to our local supernatural element. I still have lots more to see before the end of the festival.

Dr. Andaya's team are the rudest and unprofessional medical staff I've ever encountered. I rather look for a new primary care doctor who actually has a friendly and helpful team of medical assistants/nurses! First off contacting her & booking an appointment with her is almost impossible with your a busy & working parent. You call the front desk, get the run around and when you are able to talk to her team to schedule the girls are laughing and screaming in the background like its zoo. I will say it wasn't like this before when she had Archelle as her medical assistant. Archie was very sweet and made me feel comfortable and welcome. I'm not entirely sure if the new girl is named Desiree? She shouldn't be working in the medical field if she hates her job as much as she shows it in her attitude!

The event kicks off with the Electric Light Parade and the lighting of a 50-foot Christmas tree at the heart of Honolulu Hale.
Since we lived close by. My sisters and I took my kids to see the city lights. So beautiful and they also got the small trains for kids to enjoy. 10/10 recommend for families to take pictures and videos. But the inside of the building is so packed.

The Honolulu Marathon Association hosts an annual marathon in December, starting in downtown Honolulu and passing by iconic landmarks like Iolani Palace and Waikiki Beach. The race takes runners through the festive holiday lights, Diamond Head, Kahala, and Hawaii Kai. The event offers a glimpse into Honolulu's rich history, natural beauty, and vibrant cultural scene. Participants praise the well-organized race with ample support stations providing water, sports drinks, first aid, and cold sponges along the course.
I completed my first ever marathon with the Honolulu Marathon and couldn't be happier. I just moved to Oahu last year and signed up last year as well. My feet on the other hand are not that happy at the moment, but that has nothing to do with the organizers of this amazing run. :) Leading up to the marathon, they provided excellent updates via email and on social media. They made sure to address all questions that most people ask. The packet pick up at the expo went smoothly as well. I wish we didn't have to pay $15 for parking at the convention center, but that's also not on the organizers of the run. If a lower parking rate could be negotiated, that would be a huge plus. There are SO many participants of this race due to it being the 4th largest run in the U.S. plus there is no time limit. One thing I think could be improved on is a clear understanding that folks who are walking stay to one side of the street. It made the run even more challenging when needing to weave through walkers all throughout the course, especially at the start line. The safety was on-point with many police officers, volunteers, medics and everyone who was willing to help make things go smoothly. I already signed up for the next one! :)

12/2023 Great for Hawaii and a great way to cheer on the participants - if you're not actually running. I am always amazed at some of the "challenging" costumes for a marathon. Go get em! 😃🤙✌️

I’m very disappointed with the Honolulu Marathon’s rigid no-transfer policy, especially for military personnel. As someone who serves, I often face unexpected deployments or relocations. Many other events offer flexibility for military participants, but the Honolulu Marathon doesn’t. This lack of support feels unfair and unwelcoming, especially in a city with a significant military presence. I hope they reconsider their policies to be more inclusive and supportive in the future.

Great races and lots done for running in the state of Hawaii. I have been a avid supporter of the organization for the last decade and look forward to participating in their events - Hapalua Half, Honolulu Marathon, and Kings 10K.

I've been fortunate to participate in the Honolulu marathon 5 times now, and I must say, it's one of the most organized, well thought out and planned race ever. Water, sports drinks, first aid stations, and cold sponges line the entire course. No participant lacks having any of their basic needs being met. The race begins in the dark at 0500 with the start of colorful fireworks and excitement. The runners then proceed through a downtown of beautiful Christmas lights and holiday displays. As observers cheer you on, and hand out snacks, you make your way into Waikiki, and then Diamond Head, where the view of the ocean and mountains are in the background. It's stunning. Volunteers are abundant along the 26.6 mile course, helping to make the event a success. Local residents offer a quick cool down by allowing you to run through the mist of their garden hose, while others perform live music along the way. Your adrenalin flows, palm trees sway, and the multicultural crowd pushes forward together, united in a common goal, crossing the finish line. Just when you think you can't go on another step, the finish line beams in the distance. It calls you to push hard until the end. You hear your name boom over the loud speaker as you throw your arms up in victory! I highly recommend the Honolulu marathon to everyone.
Jillmoratto — Google review
Pretty well organized. Thank you to the numerous volunteers along the route who help make this marathon happen! Wish they had better foods like the Portland marathon. But overall, it's pretty good. Wish their entry prices didn't go up for Kama'aina. They should have stricter rules on young children "running" or suffering on the route.
Alex S — Google review
So my boyfriend and I signed up for the Honolulu Marathon last year since it wasn't too expensive (we signed up early as kamaainas). This was the third time that we signed up. 2014 was the first year we signed up together. I did train a bit in the first year we tried (2014), and could only get to mile 16 before I had to call it quits because of all the pain I was in. After that, I developed plantar fasciitis. My running still has never been the same, and the plantar fasciitis still flares up here and there. I was very disappointed in myself the first year. Pain or not, I felt like a failure. I felt like a cheater since I crossed the finish line after getting a ride from a friend at mile 16 who took us to the park. I crossed the finish line so I would know what it was like and be motivated to finish next time. I was sad and felt worthless that I didn't finish. The second year we signed up, we got to the expo and that was the furthest we got. I was still disappointed and felling negative so I didn't even want to try. The third year (3016), we were debating should we even do it since we didn't do any training at all. Last minute, we decided that we would just do some of it and walk, if we woke up in time. We went to a bbq and slept at 11:30 pm the night before. Whatever happens, happens. Somehow, we woke up, did the 10 miles we said we would and just kept going. We walked and walked. And guess what? We finished, a little over 11 hours. That's longer than a work day. My legs were jello that day but surprisingly the next day, I wasn't as sore as I thought I would be. I think it's because I stretched and kept moving. I didn't sit or lay down for too long. It may have taken us a long time, but my boyfriend and I did it together. We tried hard and didn't give up. We officially finished a marathon together and each earned our first Honolulu Marathon medal! If you can complete a marathon, you'll feel like you can do almost anything after that. Some tips and takeaways? Train. Don't overtrain, but make sure you train. We may not have trained, but we were swimming, doing yoga and other strengthening exercises which probably helped us. Food. Make sure you bring a snack and enough energetic gels/packets. We didn't know we were doing the entire marathon so we weren't prepared and were out of energy during most of the race. TP. Make sure you pack toilet paper for the race. There will be a lot of bathroom breaks. Support. It can be a running partner, someone else in the race or someone just following your progress. They can help cheer and motivate you. They also can make sure you're ok and get you help if you need it. It's amazing how much a little support can really help you push through. Run. If you can, do some running. 11 hours is a very long time to be walking and is very hard on your feet. Don't give up. Try your best and take each mile at a time. People who do this marathon are very supportive along the way. You entered and were at the start line. That's the hardest step. Listen to your body. If your body is in pain and telling you to stop, stop. No race is worth doing permanent damage to your body. Would we do it again? Yes. Now that I know we can finish. We are going to try to train this time and do some running. I want to thank you to those of you who were tracking me and encouraged me! You were with me and helped me finish that race. Let me say, a lot of things cross your mind as you do the race. You believed in me, even when I doubted myself. I appreciate the support more than you know. And now I know understand why that malasada is so good. ******** You can walk or run. Do it for malasadas. Train and don't give up.

Pearl Harbor National Memorial is a significant site that commemorates the 1941 Pearl Harbor attack. It includes the USS Arizona Memorial, a museum, and galleries. Managed by the National Park Service, it consists of five distinct destinations. The memorial not only tells the story of the devastating Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor but also covers other historical events such as wartime internment of Japanese Americans and World War II battles.
Rich in history, and gives you a strong sense of what the bombing of Pearl Harbor was like. Enjoyed the boat ride to see the Arizona. The movie at the theater was informative. Highly recommend getting the audio since it goes into more details. The staff were helpful and informative. Remember to bring a clear back pack otherwise, you will have to put your purse and backpack into a storage area. Bring a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated. Just snacks to purchase at the store.

We were there when there was two construction so it was not possible to get advanced tickets. We were able to get there early in the morning and get on the waiting list. Then I'm already outside is very moving. The memorial itself is actually US Navy property and the personnel are very military and expect respect and reverence. The historical visitor center information was interesting. We didn't pay for the guided out of your tour but didn't feel it we were missing anything. There are two other museums that are attached for an additional charge but the national park itself is free. We found the park rangers here to be exceptional and very well versed in their subject matter.

Hard not to tear up out here. So many families changed instantly. Eternal respect for all those who serve with honor. Heaven forbid those have to pay the same sacrifice! Word to the wise- don't see anywhere listed that the last boat out to the USS Arizona Memorial is at 330 pm (1530 hrs), though the Park is open until 5 pm. (1700 hrs) The Bowfin is quite an experience to walk through..These guys we're tasked with one of the ultimate risks of a wartime environment. Getting thru the bulkhead doors was something at 65 w two total hips....they ran through them when needed elsewhere in the Sub. Truly astounding. The museum for the submarine service is remarkable. Lots to learn there. Too much to see in one or two visits....we need to return. Reckon this place is a huge linchpin in United States history. Gettysburg, Lexington, and Pearl Harbor; all US citizens should be able to recite their importance in US history. Can I? Not completely, and it's shameful. Sure I learned some in 4th grade, and on. But these events are what our freedoms are founded on; what gave us and the world notice of our ability and intent following those events. We should all know them better.

If you’re planning a trip to Oahu, visiting the Pearl Harbor National Memorial is an absolute must. It’s one of those places that really makes history come alive, and best of all, entry is completely free. The memorial is beautifully maintained, and the exhibits do an incredible job of telling the story of Pearl Harbor and the events of World War II. It’s a powerful, moving experience that gives you a deeper appreciation for the sacrifices made by so many. A few tips to make your visit smoother: if you’re driving, pay for parking because spots fill up fast, especially in the mornings. Speaking of mornings, I highly recommend arriving early—the lines for the USS Arizona Memorial ferry can get long. The ferry itself is free, and it’s a serene, respectful way to pay your respects at the Arizona. One important note: no bags are allowed on the ferry, so plan to leave them at home or securely in your car. Take your time walking through the exhibits and reading the plaques—there’s a lot of history packed into the memorial, and it’s really worth absorbing. Whether you’re a history buff or just curious about one of the most significant moments in American history, this visit is both educational and moving. Overall, the Pearl Harbor National Memorial is an unforgettable experience. It’s well-organized, meaningful, and a must-see if you’re on Oahu. Don’t miss it!

A Truly Humbling Experience, But Plan for the Costs This is an incredibly humbling and powerful place to visit. Standing there and reflecting on the history is a profound experience that every American should have. The main memorial itself is incredibly well done, respectful, and moving. My only real issue is how the pricing is structured. It's a bit messed up that you have to pay so much to see all the historic sites. It doesn't make sense why the main memorial is covered, but seeing everything else like the battleship and the other museums are pay to see. I think it was close to a hundred bucks a person to see everything, which feels unreasonable. Outside of the sticker shock for the full tour, the experience itself is absolutely not bad at all. It's a five-star piece of history, without a doubt. Just be prepared for the extra costs if you want to see more than the main memorial.
Eric K — Google review
This is a large memorial that has various sections spread across the area, and involves a lot of walking. There are several attractions on site, all ticketed separately, or can be combined with one single passport pass. The only free attraction is the Arizona Memorial, for which you actually get on a free 5 minute boat ride, and get to spend 15 minutes at the site. The rest include various plaques, sculptures, memorial boards etc. All ticketing and experience details are listed and priced on the official website. Would highly recommend wearing easy to walk shoes, and bring a hat as most attractions are open air and it’s hot when sunny. There are restrooms located across various points. There is a gift shop and book store at the exit of the memorial. The virtual reality tours are really nice and very decently priced.
Avais S — Google review
A once in a lifetime experience. All that you read about visiting it is confusing. Go and just enjoy the Memorial and gain your own memories. The movie is a MUST see. The trip to the Arizona is a nice boat ride. You only need about 15 minutes on the Arizona Memorial its self. Enjoy the park wander and explore what is interesting to you. Take in what you can and don't feel like you have to do it all. If you have never been on a battleship or submarine experience it here otherwise there is plenty to explore. Nice gift shop lots of unique its specific to Pearl Harbor. I did a self guided tour was there for 3 hour and was happy with my visit. They sell snacks and drinks. Have adequate restrooms. DO NOTE WHAT TYPE OF BAG YOU TRY TO BRING IN. I had a clear see through bag with water and snacks and had no problem.
Shannon L — Google review
It’s definitely worth spending a few hours here remembering those who fell in WWII. The memorial comprises of 4 main “attractions”: the USS Arizona, USS Missouri, the US Bowfin Submarine and the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum. The USS Arizona is by far the most popular and iconic and this one is free but there are options to buy tickets so you don’t have to wait in line either through a private company like Viator or the government sponsored site recreation.gov. Cheaper to use recreation.gov but tickets are first come first served. If you missed reserving tickets for the Arizona, you can try your luck waiting as a stand by. It’s hit or miss but you have to go early (preferably arrive to line up before 7am). The other 3 sites you can either buy a combined passport or do a la cart. They have done a remarkable job preserving the history in a respectful way. Lots to see, not much by way of food on site or nearby. Public restrooms available. One thing to remember, no purses or bags are allowed unless they are see through.

There are plenty of dining options sit down (BDubs, Morton’s Steakhouse, Korean BBQ, Vietnamese, Olive Garden are some), casual (Chick-fil-a, sushi, Jack n the box, Raising Canes…too many to name!) ands snacks n drinks (Auntie Annie’s, Baskin Robbin’s, Starbucks, coffee, bakery’s, shaved ice only to name a few!) This mall is like an outlet, there are 9 levels for parking! Also easily accessible by public transportation, trolleys and ride shares. You definitely need a full day and walking shoes if you wish to scroll this beauty!

Wonderful outdoor mall with super convenient shopping experience and great location only 10 minutes' drive from Waikiki. I can say that the mall has everything we need, plenty of parking and easy access to another floors and stores.
Melissa N — Google review
Free parking, variety of shops at different price points, and free daily hula show at 5pm! It's a nice outdoor mall with a weird layout though. They do have all the overpriced bougie stores in the main walkway, but it you go towards the sides you'll find stores with more affordable prices.

Opening hours are 10 am to 8 pm Free parking on 9 floors. Very nice open air mall with 350 stores. Many designers, Bloomingdale’s, macys, Neumann Marcus, target, Nordstrom, foodland, Barnes and noble… Very large and nice food court with lots of choices.

This is a beautiful outdoor mall with multiple levels and some covered areas. It has a wide variety of stores, from big-name brands to smaller shops, and plenty to see and do. The mall is quite large, so it’s easy to get turned around, but that just adds to the adventure of exploring everything it has to offer.

This place is AMAZING! So many stores, and the food court is UNREAL!! Highlights: Shabayu is not to be missed! Texas di Brazil was expensive, but so worth it!! (The salad bar alone was with the price.) Cat Cafe: Super Cute!!

Ala Moana Regional Park is a 100-acre park featuring a man-made beach with calm surf, tennis courts, and a pavilion. Situated across from the Ala Moana Shopping Center, it offers an alternative to Waikiki Beach with its grassy areas, shady tree zones, and white sandy beaches. The shallow water area is protected by a reef barrier and provides opportunities for snorkeling along the submerged rocks. The park is easily accessible in Honolulu with ample parking and good amenities.
The sunsets here are gorgeous. There are always beautiful people in the park doing some beautiful things like “bubbly therapy” or “dancing as the sun sets”. It’s a great place to run and place for kids. Locals are always around and it makes it an integrative experience. I did Tai Chai one morning. The view of Diamond Head is sweet and the hotel strip. It’s a pretty chill beach and wonderful place to just hang and have some fun in the sun or after sunset.
Darron J — Google review
Our main purpose when we came here was to watch the Friday fireworks. This park is big and has nice views of the city. It’s also a great place to relax, hang out, read a book and walking or jogging It’s a great place for kids to play in the playground or run around. It’s has plenty of parking too and it’s also free but keep in mind that it gets busy during special events like the fireworks. Best to get there early. I recommend bringing picnic blankets and chair if you’re going to hang out for a bit. We were there a couple of hours before the fireworks mainly to get a good spot and get a good view. We brought some food and enjoyed an early dinner. Overall a nice park however just be aware of your surroundings as we’ve seen people with carts and tents on the other side. The public washroom wasn’t as great either, not well maintained but I guess it’s just like any other public park.
Ivee M — Google review
Its a beautiful and large park with public access to the beach tough. There are enough slots to park , many people walking, surfing or just sharing a barbeque on the large extension of grass with many big trees shadowing. I was in the second week of June and the only "but" was the incredible amount of flies around.
ALFRED C — Google review
I feel like this is a hidden gem in Oahu. The view is so beautiful here and the park was mostly empty when we went. We didn't go far into the park so we can't attest to the quality of the beach. But the grassy area was gorgeous enough.

Memorial Day, Shinnyo-En lantern floating Hawaii 2025. I just wanted to give you all a couple of tips, hope it helps. *There is a separate line for military members which is MUCH shorter. *Bring a beach chair or towel to sit on while you wait for your lantern. *Bring an umbrella or hat for sun protection, sun block, and water. * There is parking at Ala Moana center. * Bring a lighter, the grill ones work best to light the lantern. We pick up our lantern, take it home to write our messages and then come back for the ceremony. Some people prefer to stay all day and enjoy the beach park 🏖🌴

One of my favorite places to be on the island. It is such a beautiful and lively park, great for taking pictures, walking, picknicking, sports,,, everything. You can even catch a beautiful sunset or sunrise. It is next to ala Moana so you can grab a treat or go shopping as well. Me and my husband recently even carved pumpkins there lol. You can do anything.

Ala Wai Canal, located in Honolulu, is a popular spot for morning walks and enjoying the scenic beauty of the area. The canal offers a nice blend of nature and urban surroundings, with a pleasant ambiance for visitors to soak in. While some dream of cleaner water in the canal, many still enjoy walking along its length on the Diamond Head side where there's a lovely sidewalk.
I love the scenery of Ala Wai Canal. I walked along the sidewalk of the canal in the morning when I was staying in one of the apartment buildings along the canal in April and now again in mid November I came and took pictures of its beauty.

Ala Wai boulevard along Ala Wai canal is one one of the best place for morning walk in Honolulu. If you staying in any hotel in Waikiki, you must go and enjoy the walk and devour the scenic beauty and nonchalant ambiance of the place. A nice blend of nature and human endeavour to amalgamate its creations in concrete!! Whatsoever, The Mother Nature in all its benevolence, and I was there to bath in its kindness (April 8-15,2019)

The canal has been a memory of many children. At a time when it was ok to jump in and yes go fishing. My 1st apt. faced the Ala Wai Canal and the very 1st morning I seen a stingray jumped up and out? I swear we locked eyes, Magnificent. Of course my family added in the understanding of the viewing of this? I felt that I was going to be ok 🤙. I'm putting out 1 photo of where we used to jump from, and boy were we gutsy?

Prince Kuhio Tours offers a variety of experiences to celebrate Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalanianaole, including dinner cruises and whale watching tours. The sunset dinner cruise is highly recommended, with a welcoming crew and the option to bring your own drinks. Guests praise the onboard chef for preparing delicious meals like Mahi-Mahi with avocado sauce. The whale watching tour includes sightings of whales, dolphins, and sea turtles despite choppy waters.
I travel to Hawaii a lot and this was one of the most fun experiences in Waikiki. The boat and the staff were outstanding. The crew really made the cruise a lot of fun! I believe this is one of the only ships that travels with an onboard chef and the food was absolutely exceptional! I have never had fish that fresh and the people in our group that had the short rib also said it was exceptional. I have also seen the sunset many times from the beach, but this is the first time from a boat and it was an entirely new experience not to be missed. The views of Waikiki and Diamond Head from the water or also unbelievable. I'll include a few pictures so you can see it. I'm also looking forward to booking the breakfast cruise and whale watching because I've also heard great things about those as well from my friends that have done it.

We had the best time on the Prince Kuhio sunset dinner cruise! We could not have asked for better food, service, and views. The staff was amazing. Alex, Luna, and Lucia were so kind and fun. We highly recommend this cruise. 10/10!!!
Tessa S — Google review
It was wonderful to enjoy a delicious meal while watching the sunset. The bar’s seashell décor added a charming touch and the Aloha vibe made the atmosphere feel welcoming. The staff was fantastic, the food flavorful, and the drinks well-made. The catch of the day was not only tasty but beautifully presented. Service was excellent, and we also appreciated getting a photo taken before boarding. It was also a nice surprise that they had a real washroom on board and it was clean. Highly recommend!
Yolanda V — Google review
As a resident of Oahu, Prince Kuhio is one of our hidden gems on island. If you’re looking for a dinner cruise that isn’t the typical "stuffy cookie cutter vibe" this is the right place to be on the ocean having dinner in Hawaii. Not only does Prince Kuhio’s boat shine brightly every night with the bubble lights, it truly cultivates a special outdoor dinner experience for its guests. Whether you’re a local looking for an outing or tourist and choose to book this excursion on your vacation you will get more of a true genuine Hawaiian vibe. This boat brings the spirit of Aloha to the table. The fresh catch of the day or melt in your mouth beef short rib are to die for. I am a local photographer on island and have been out on this boat multiple times for many occasions from photoshoots, weddings, proposals, family dinners... the list goes on and I am continually pleased with the experience. I could eat Chef Cater’s food over and over again and wouldn’t get tired of it. It is BYOB meaning (BRING YOUR OWN ALCOHOL) so make sure you bring what you would like to drink, alcohol is not provided in purchase of ticket! Prince Kuhio is not a booze cruise though the energy is fun and light, yet family oriented. Plan in advance to find parking because it’s a busy parking lot and prepare if you aren’t sure whether or not you get motion sickness.... It’s better to be safe than sorry. 5 stars over and over again!

We had an amazing time aboard the Prince Kuhio!! The crew was awesome, the chief cooked us a spectacular meal, and the captain was entertaining and he cruised us along the beautiful skyline. We had a beautiful sunset dinner cruise for our 35th wedding anniversary and highly recommend joining this tour!!!!
Melissa D — Google review
Prince Kuhio was the highlight of my Hawaii trip! I was truly impressed by the food they served- both the beef short ribs and the mahi mahi were the best I’ve ever had. Even the salad was the best salad I have ever had (get the papaya dressing). Captain was cool, servers were awesome. smooth sailing with beautiful views. I had originally tried to book a dinner cruise at a larger boat, but we kept driving by and saw the Prince Kuhio docked. We thought we’d like a more intimate, smaller dinner cruise experience. So glad we made that decision because Prince Kuhio completely exceeded our expectations.
A E — Google review
I must admit, I was expecting mediocrity at best. The customer service, greeting, hospitality, check in process, views were all TOP TIER! Here’s where it gets tricky… the food! There is an actual CHEF, preparing food! They are plating it! It’s not being cooked as a mass meal ad thrown at you, your order comes out just as it would a restaurant. We had the mahi mahi and the short rib. Both were PHENOMENAL! From the moment they release you to move around the boat, you can smell the Aromas from the kitchen and that’s when you realize, wait, we are about to have an actual meal! I can’t express enough how much this was worth the money!!! TIP, if you can do it on a Friday night you will experience the fireworks on the water!!! Book it!!

Vans is a retail store known for its surfing and skateboarding-inspired shoes and casual wear. The brand has been hosting the Vans Triple Crown on the North Shore of O'ahu since 1983, bringing together professional surfers to compete in events at iconic surf breaks like Haleiwa, Sunset, and Pipeline. Customers have praised the Alamoana Vans location for its welcoming and helpful staff, with one visitor mentioning how they received great assistance from an associate named Ashley.
the staff here was incredibly kind, welcoming, helpful, and respectful. i don’t usually expect that at corporate chain stores in a mall, and i also don’t hold that against people that work at corporate stores whatsoever because i’ve worked in retail and the service industry and i totally understand - however, the kind nature of the two dudes working at ala moana vans the night i was there really made my night! i hadn’t been back to ala moana in quite some time and got there in the evening with not much time left before closing - but they let me browse without rushing me at all, and helped me with multiple sizes of pants and shoes. super nice folks! thank you! will come back to this location because of that.

Update #2: After some back and forth with Vans customer service, I’m happy to say the issue was eventually resolved. I had purchased a pair of shoes from the Waikīkī store that caused significant foot pain after just one brief wear. They were still in like-new condition, but I was initially denied a return in-store and received a generic response from customer care. After pushing the issue, resending details and photos multiple times, Vans finally acknowledged the situation and provided a $90 gift card, which I appreciate. While the process was more frustrating and time-consuming than it should’ve been, I do feel better about how it ended. I hope Vans can improve the way they handle edge cases like mine in the future — loyal customers should be heard the first time. Update: I followed Vans’ advice and contacted their customer service directly after being denied an exchange in-store — even though the shoes were only worn once, caused significant foot pain, and are still in like-new condition aside from minimal sole discoloration from walking briefly on asphalt. Instead of addressing the issue, Vans sent me a copy-paste policy response and offered a 20% discount code, which is completely useless considering I now have a pair of shoes I can’t wear. No one acknowledged the situation or made any effort to make it right. This isn’t customer service — it’s deflection. If Vans stands behind their products, they should take ownership when something is clearly wrong. I’ve been a loyal customer, but after this experience, I’m seriously reconsidering ever buying from them again. Shameful handling of a simple issue. OG post: Bought a pair of shoes from them and wore them one time. The shoes were too small after testing them out, so I was going to bring them and exchange them for another pair. The shoes are in perfect shape still and the store refused to work with me on an exchange. Worst customer service ever. Waste of time. DO NOT buy shoes from vans

We are from Maui but was on vacation in Oahu and at the Alamoana Vans location. The Sales associate that assisted us (Ashley) was so welcoming and helpful from the moment we stepped into the store. We initially came in with the intentions of just getting my boyfriend a pair of shoes but Ashely let us know about a promo they had going on and gave us some great insight about the shoes and helped us during our time in the store. We ended up making a purchase of shoes for not only my boyfriend but also for myself and our son, lol. Great experience, thank you Ashley V. We look forward to seeing you again on our next trip to Oahu.

I had a gift card to use, but saved it for use here after receiving zero to crappy service at the Queen Kaahumanu Center location. This location is in Ala Moana Center, third level near Macy's. Like at most stores on Oahu, I was commonly greeted and asked if I needed help by numerous employees. You do NOT get that on Maui. SMH. How difficult is this simple process? Not at all! Being a non-fan of shoes, I naturally gravitated to the shirts and tank tops, until my spouse reminded me that I was looking at some shoes a few months ago. Really? I completely forgot. See, I could care less about shoes! I headed to the shoe wall and found some cool gray & white-soled sneakers, and they had it in my size. Perfect. Sold! OVERALL: Great service, clean and organized store.

I've gone by three times during business hours and they were closed. Today I called ahead to make sure they were open (Thursday at 10:30 AM) But when I got there I called to ask where I could park since all the parking is taken up by employees of SS or surrounding shops. The said they were closed indefinitely to do inventory. So I've finally decided to take my companies business elsewhere. I guess they are an ok place, but if the customers can't get in the door then I'm not sure how they will grow.

All members of our team leading up to the event and the event itself were phenomenal! We experienced torrential rain on our wedding day and they just rolled with it and never complained once. Everyone on the team had an incredibly positive attitude the day of our wedding despite the rain. We booked Hawaiʻi Events for their DJ, emcee, and lighting services for our wedding reception out in Waimea Valley, and they were absolutely incredible! Hanson, Marvin, and Hope were very responsive and helpful during the booking process, so we felt confident about what we were booking. Our DJ, Nate, did an awesome job at incorporating the music we wanted while keeping the energy and spirits high throughout the event. Our favorite part about Nate's DJ-ing was the sound effects he added during our bridal party's speeches! Our emcee, Ray, was amazing as well. He did great in maintaining a natural flow throughout the night and making our loved ones laugh. He always matched the energy of our guests, and we loved that. We added cafe lights last minute, and the Hawaiʻi Events team were extremely accommodating during this process. We're so grateful to have worked with and have the attendance of such a professional and vibrant team! Would definitely work with or recommend them to others in the future. ❤️

In addition he took requests for the older fam to dance the cha-cha too! DJ Shift knew the assignment and executed it like an OG! In addition he played the final song that I wanted and danced to. Bruddah Bryan is a great MC! He got the guests excited and responded to his requests. He did a cool trivial about the bride and groom, which the guests were super engaged and competitive about. His overall energy and positive vibes were perfect for our wedding! They both have put utmost love and gratitude.

They even said that if we decided to not go with them that they’d be more than willing to give us advice or point us in the right direction of what would fit for our needs. We were floored with the level of service Hawaii Events Unlimited provided to us as we were planning and decided to go with them. We went with the classic reception package which included the DJ, sound system, microphones, and dance and static uplighting, photobooth with unlimited prints and MC services. We also added on a monogram that lit up behind our sweethearts table as well as the 360 photobooth (shout out to Hanson) From the months that led up to the wedding, Hawaii Events Unlimited was always super helpful in responding quickly to our questions as well as letting us have chats with the MC (Braddah Bryan) and our DJ (Nate) so we were aligned with what the program would look like and what type of music we wanted played. Hawaii Events Unlimited also has a convenient portal where you can list off everything you need, music list, and logistics for the day. They also offer convenient monthly payment options. The day of the wedding, Braddah Bryan kept the program running smoothly and making sure we stayed on time as well as keeping our guests entertained. Nate and Ejay did an amazing job of keeping our guests on the dance floor while following our guidance with all of our music choices. Jordan did an amazing job of lighting up the ballroom perfectly. And Hope, Colby, Kristen, Kylie, and Josh did an amazing job with the standard and 360 photosbooths which our guests completely loved. Hawaii Events Unlimited was worth every penny and the level of customer service was well worth it. We also enjoyed that they offered a plethora of services so we only had to manage one vendor for entertainment vs multiple vendors. After the event was over, we promptly got all the photobooth files after a couple of days so we could share it with our guests. We would highly recommend Hawaii Events Unlimited for any of your event needs. Their customer service is top notch and we thank all of them for making our big day so special.

I love this show, but am not pleased that it has moved to July. This is the hot season now, due to climate change, and it hard to take for us Northerners. North Shore, that is!!

I did spend 35 dollar for keiki accidentally instead of the normal adult run ,called them to help me rectify but they said once done its done so i have to pay separately for the adult run I CALLED THEM they wont refund or transfer to the normal aloha adults run this here for me is the greatest scam of all time I mean why do they do this when its a charity??????? And why is it called charity when actually can’t practice an ounce of emphasis?!
