Event venue
Patterns in Brighton is a trendy bar that offers pizzas, cocktails, live music, and DJ sets. It features a rooftop bar with stunning views of the seafront and colorful decorations. The venue includes an underground club and three floors to explore, offering something for everyone. With a diverse lineup of resident DJs and live bands, visitors can enjoy indie rock, house beats, or old-school hip hop.
Great gig, be aware that at concerts only 1 drink per person at a time because under 14s are allowed in. Security not great inside, there was a fight in the crowd for ages and they struggled to sort it.

SCAMMED by brunch! We book and paid for bottomless brunch in advance, even received a reminder email the day before. Arrived with one our party coming down from London only to be left very confused outside in the freezing cold! We had no communication at all to say it was cancelled or to reschedule. Still have no idea what's going on and tried calling the venue multiple times. We then called the mobile number on the confirmation email and were hung up on immediately. As far as I can see this is nothing but a scam and still promted on their website. Absolutely disgraceful. Avoid at all costs. Reporting officially as fraudulent.

A bit old school! Lots of steps in and out (Basement), very dark but cosy.. name list on entry and Hand Stamp! It was my first time there and it was over the Mod weekend at Maze & Purple Hearts Concert so it might have been intended on taking us back to our old Disco/Club days - if so it succeeded! 😆👍

We hired the ground floor and terrace area for our wedding reception. All I can say is that the staff, the venue, and the food was fantastic! We had an amazing wedding celebration at this venue and thanks to Gem, Ruby, and all the staff for making our day a memorable one xxx
John S — Google review
It's dark. It's sweaty. It's claustrophobic. It's absolutely perfect for a night of music and meeting new people. The staff were great, the bar well stocked as far as I could tell, I was drinking orange juice and soda. I travelled from the opposite end of the country in Lancashire. I wasn't disappointed

Epic! Went here for a day rave. The upstairs is large, consisting of a bar, small dance floor alot of tables and chairs. Downstairs leads to a club. It feels like you're absolutely away from reality and even though it was during the day it was pitched black in the basement. A great experience and I'd love to go back
Luke C — Google review
Patterns absolutely made my birthday celebrations in late August! Poppy is frankly, a total legend, helped me out with an area and put together a drinks package for me even though it’s not something the venue usually offers. Went absolutely over and above to help me and our large group out with luggage storage and just generally be super accommodating. The bar team were all lovely too and handled the crazy busy bar really well during the event. Even the security were lush and when we came back to get our bags later in the night the new team couldn’t have been more helpful either. Huge shout outs to the team at Patterns - can’t wait to come back!
Elinor F — Google review
The supervisor/ manager that was on shift yesterday ruined mine and my whole group of friends night. Was rude and refusing to listen to customers or her colleagues. Honestly I don’t think we will ever come back because of the way we were treated yesterday. The drinks tasted like all the syrups had run out, we had ordered 5 vodka cranberry’s and they were all fizzy? This was the top bar.

Great music venue. Wheelchair access. It is a cobbled stone floor so it is a bit uneven. Close to stage and good views from everywhere. Large outdoor covered space. The bar is in a separate area. Great staff average price drinks. Really great sound there too. Fabulous.

Traveled down from the northeast to see Dear Tash and Faeser..21 - 06 - 25 Great gig But the bar staff are as miserable as sin. At least smile and say hello when serving someone
Phil W — Google review
A Great venue I'm a regular visitor near the Brighton train station. One of the top venues in the city. A minor criticism staff on a few occasions do not make you aware of your paying 50p for a plastic pint cup on top of the price of your drink £6.50 for a glass bottle of Fullers. Which apparently you can reclaim the 50p at any time.. Always too busy at the bar for me to reclaim.
David M — Google review
The people operating the venue literally goat fans that they will get tickets to see their band and after everyone buys hotels to come stay for the event - cancels the showing. Tickets were annouced for this August, got a plane ticket, hotel, set up with my friends to go - "ups, your show is cancelled. Sorry." Seriously, dont go here. Theres no guaranty your band will even be let in.
Kalevra Q — Google review
Really cool venue. Fully accessible for wheelchair users like myself. The staff couldn't have been kinder. I visited for an event and it was amazing. Really quirky and fun. Not overly expensive in the grand scheme of things. Definitely worth checking out. A venue that you might overlook but definitely shouldn't.
Alex — Google review
Very great atmosphere. The music choices were kinda random past 2 am ? But it has been fun anyways. The staff is also very friendly.

Such a cool venue! Great space to watch a gig, intimate and atmospheric. Saw Jamine.4.t here and it was great gig. A welcome space for anyone LGBTQIA+ with inclusive signs everywhere and the trans flag 🏳️‍⚧️

Mesmerist is a vibrant and lively pub located in the heart of Brighton's Lanes. The retro decor and gin palace-inspired ambiance make it a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. With three floors offering individually styled rooms, this dapper lounge bar provides a perfect setting to enjoy quality food or expertly mixed cocktails. The establishment boasts an all-weather rooftop garden, making it ideal for alfresco drinks year-round.
This place is brilliant. Lived in Brighton for years and been in a few times. Never thought to review it until I saw a couple of poor reviews-are they (the reviewers) mad or do they have an axe to grind? Brilliant food and drink and supreme service. Have recommended to family and friends.

20th July 2025 £55 for two The early months of Mich’s pregnancy have been beset by seemingly most of the possible negative side-effects - most prominently daily morning sickness well beyond the point where people helpfully keep reminding her it should have stopped by now - and, barring one urgent request for a strawberry Yazoo, very few of the fun cravings some women experience. So when one Sunday she woke with a happy lack of nausea and a desire for big fat burgers we decided to make the most of it and head into town. This newfound feeling of normalcy basically extended to wanting to not be in the bathroom with her head down a toilet for as long as possible and also to eat as much as she could, so first we wandered along the seafront to peruse the crossword over a coffee and a ginormous slice of banana bread and possibly the jammiest doughnut (perhaps even too much jam?!) at Fika. This is important context. As the decision to burger had been made early in the day, and as Mich was having such a nice time, and as that slice of banana bread was enough to satiate her for pretty much an entire afternoon, I had a lot of time to mentally conceive of - and build, and tweak over several dozen phases of interactive design: from raw red onion rings to cubed and caramelised white and back again - my perfect burger. After one too many “are you hungry yet?”s we agreed to independently research and then come back together to discuss potential venues. Top of the list was a place called 7Bone, pretty much because the main picture on their website matched most closely my own design: two smashed patties, with melted cheese seeping into its gaps, in one of those milky-floury non-brioche buns. (Mich wanted a chicken burger, and they did those too). Also raising an eyebrow was the fact that “ooh, Red Dog are in the Mesmerist now”, so we stopped off for a look at their menu en route, and had reliable old Honest Burgers nearby as a Plan C too. It wasn’t right at 7Bone at all and I think we knew it from the off. Not that that stopped us from asking for a table a few minutes after we’d dismissed the waiter once with a “we’re just having a look at the menu”, despite by that point in the day knowing it almost off by heart. But for some reason the in-jokey names felt more egregious in the flesh (“iaia(i)n with three eyes”, “peter green”, “all right all right all right”), and coupled with the option only to order via an app and the too-loud AI-sounding ‘music’ over the speakers, we decided to leave. So to the Mesmerist. Turns out Red Dog can be just as creative with its burgers while managing to come up with names that don’t make you feel like a teenage girl at her first big-school sleepover with a bunch of friends who all knew each other from primary, but really I just wanted a really good cheeseburger, so I didn’t really pay them much attention. I asked for a double, and Mich got a messy spicy cheesy slawy juicy fried chicken thigh thing, with obligatory buffalo wings and chips to share on the side too. Did they satisfy our cravings? Mich was just really happy to be able to eat something like that again for the first time in ages, and given she normally uses a knife and fork for her burgers like a weirdo anyway it didn’t really matter that her bun disintegrated under duress of all the liquid seeping into it. A little sickly by the end perhaps, but hit the spot. Mine did, but only just about. It’s really difficult, if burgers are your thing, to serve a terrible one, but this wasn’t exactly special: as you can see from the picture the buns were the cheap claggy type, which meant that them forgetting my second patty, throwing the ratios all off, had more of an impact than it might otherwise have done. The flavour on the wings was fine but they looked like they’d come from the chicks who got picked last in PE; the chips (and smoked chipotle mayo) were excellent. Overall fine, but nothing to write home about. Unless you’re me, and analysing average food in minute detail is for some reason your thing.

I hosted my partner’s 30th birthday at The Mesmerist in one of their private rooms, and overall, we had a fantastic experience. The staff were incredibly helpful in the lead-up to the event and made the setup on the day so easy. We were even able to access the room early, which gave us plenty of time to decorate and get everything perfect. The team working behind our private bar were absolutely amazing – so friendly and welcoming, which really added to the atmosphere of the night. There was a small issue with pouring pints at our bar, so we had to purchase those from another bar in the venue, but honestly, it didn’t impact the evening in any significant way. The only slight hiccup was with the music. The volume was a bit low at first, and later in the night, there were a few moments where it cut out. While it wasn’t a major problem, it would have been great if everything had run smoothly. One thing I really appreciated was how flexible the team were after the event. We were given plenty of time to take down our decorations and even allowed to collect them a few days later, which was such a big help. All of our guests had a wonderful time and many commented on how great the space was. I’d definitely consider hosting another event here in the future. Huge thanks to everyone at The Mesmerist for helping make the night so special!
Ellie D — Google review
The food was amazing, everything we ordered tasted great. The burnt end nuggets, nachos, and the giant onion rings were definite highlights. But the organisation wasn’t great, so it’s not the best spot for big groups. Our table wasn’t ready when we arrived, we had to move some seats/tables ourselves, they only took half the table’s drink order, they brought out too many of items and were missing a meal (however they did offer a free drink for the missing meal). It’s also a pretty loud place, so probably better for smaller groups or couples. The food is pricey, but the portions are huge, wish that was mentioned on the menu because we would’ve ordered less if we knew!

Went today as found out Red Dog Saloon operates out of here and it didn't disappoint!! Firstly the staff were attentive as soon as we walked through the door, I love a warm welcome. The food was just as good as their london uncles!! I went for my fav (Cronos) and was loved every bite. Recommend this pub for good food and a welcoming environment. (And the background music wasn't bad either!!!)

Me and my boyfriend came here on probably the last summers day of 2025 and what a wonderful place it is! We sat in the upstairs roof Top area and it was absolutely wonderful, the drinks were fabulous and very well priced and we loved seeing the beautiful art and flowers around the place! Will definitely be coming back throughout 2026 <3

Went on a Sunday. Just after midday. The gent behind the bar was a bit blunt. Tried to make conversation with him while ordering food and got little to no response. I ordered the cheese burger, while it came out quickly. It actually was cold and a little to pink for me. And for the price surprised it didn’t come with chips. Has a lot of potential! Just a bit of attention to detail and staff who are customer facing! putting my review up to 3 starts due to the nice reply from management

Came in at lunchtime and had the cheeseburger and onion rings. Very tasty and cooked perfectly. Customer service was excellent and staff friendly and welcoming. Good location and prices reasonable considering quality and compared to nearby eateries. Would highly recommend.

A legend of a venue in Brighton. This place has history. Not really close to the heart of Brighton, but walkable. Parking somewhat available, but not great and payable.
Deborah S — Google review
Our first visit to the venue. As Access customers, we found disabled parking right outside and the staff were really nice and helpful to make sure we were sat with a good view. The venue is a great space to see a band too - if we lived nearer we'd have no hesitation coming to shows here regularly!

Great venue, roughly 15 minute walk from central Brighton. Friendly staff, great bar with a good selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. Stage is nice and high so wherever you stand you get a great view, sound was great, not too loud either which was refreshing.

Absolutely brilliant venue with a good high stage and a real connector the acts. Really nice and helpful security and bar staff with reasonable bar prices. Plenty of parking too so all good

A really nice sized music venue. Big enough to attract great bands but small enough to feel intimate. Really interesting architectural features too like the stained glass and cast iron metalwork. Nice bar area. Good-sized dance floor.

Komedia Brighton is a vibrant performing arts venue located just a few minutes from Brighton Station in the lively North Laine area. This premier entertainment spot hosts over 700 performances annually, featuring a diverse range of shows including comedy, music, cabaret, and children's theatre. It is also known for showcasing popular comedy shows in Brighton and regularly participating in events like the Brighton Fringe Festival and The Great Escape.
Best venue in Brighton in my personal opinion. Drag shows, comedy nights, cinema, club and private hire available this place has it all. Had both my birthday party and graduation celebration in their studio room for an amazing price. Every staff member is lovely and easy to work with. Thank you Komedia!
Hannah A — Google review
Went to watch the Jenny Tian comedy gig and most of the staff were really helpful, especially Roxy, who gave me a mini-tour a few hours beforehand so I could get my bearings. The only reason I’ve rated this as a 4 is that, despite being told where to queue by a few members of staff (including a manager), when it came to almost time to go in, their security said that we weren’t allowed to queue there, and we were told to wait back in the cafe. She said that they never let anyone queue in that area for gigs, so seems odd that so many people had said it was fine beforehand. I still got in first after waiting for a few hours, but it would be handy to be told the right information the first time around.
Kate J — Google review
Thoroughly enjoyed every time I've been here, the only reason I've given 4 stars is because I feel they could benefit from doing drinks service to the tables due to the crowded layout. Other than that the staff are lovely and the acts super funny!
Monica C — Google review
I had never been to any Comedy Club anywhere before but this was a great experience. Tiny place (The Studio) seating a maximum of 40 people (?). Serving drinks and crisps etc but nothing more the night we went. We saw 2 very different comedians cutting their teeth in a friendly (mostly) atmosphere. Not much polish to their acts, but I will look out for their names because both could easily develop into budding stars. Very intimate setting, dark, slightly seedy looking venue but perfect for the purpose Loved it. Try it. Book though because I reckon this venue is pretty full most of the time. Enjoy
Jackie R — Google review
My first time here, what a fantastic venue. Love the place 2 gigs and a film all at the same time all managed seamlessly but the super friendly guy on the door.
Ian P — Google review
It was ok. The acts were funny so luckily the main reason I went was good. When there was no act on stage or my partner wanted to whisper something in my ear like if i wanted food or a drink, a security lady kept eyeballing us and shushing which made it seem like either a) had a problem or b) i had to sit in silence. Ordered food which never came as the server couldn't find the table we were on. But at least the acts were awesome.
Andrew P — Google review
The Komedia I just a fantastic venue. I'd describe it as a small venue with great small venue character vibes which I really love. The type of place you want to go back and see something else and support. Part of Brighton's history. Easy to find in an area of Brighton that's got plenty going on.
Wayne C — Google review
Great venue with a few different places where you can see different things. The best of the house is the basement where the comedy shows happen and it's always a great fun. Service can be quite slow at the bar if too busy tho. Prices are a bit pushed up for the bar and food. Kitchen as restrictions times and most often you're not allowed to get snacks during the shows because kitchen is closed. Lifts are available for those with reduced mobility.

The Brunswick is a 1930s pub in Hove, offering a unique and lively atmosphere. It features live music and events, along with a wide selection of cask ales, keg beers, and ciders from local Sussex brewers as well as others from further away. The pub is known for its delicious burgers and sides served by Humble Plates, with Sunday roasts being a popular choice.
Great selection of beers, check the chalkboards above the bar. Drinks are very reasonably priced! Staff are super friendly and the pub is home to a great escape room! The play list was also pretty great!

We went to watch a gig downstairs that was love. The bar staff were lovely people very helpful and kind. They support my diet restrictions with a recommendation. The beer was quite nice and a good price. They also helped me when I needed some ear protection as the gig I went to was quite loud and they had plenty of ear plugs behind the bar. This pub would have got a full but as a disabled person I struggled with the stairs and also the downstairs loo had no paper so I had to use more stairs to go upstairs where I did find toilets. That said they have all gender toilets which is fantastic.

Been coming here for a few years now. Couldn’t ask for more from the staff. They not only look after my dog Lola every-time I come in, with water, treats and constant affections. but I feel welcome and a proper laugh anytime with staff

One of the best venues in Brighton. The vibe is great, the food is great, and the music is better. I have been to the Monday night open mic, the Tuesday night Jazz Jam, and gigged there on multiple occasions with different bands. I have always had a good experience with the venue and the staff. Definitely a pub to visit if you're in town!
Will R — Google review
I went to see the band Fossil Fuel with my partner last night. The gig was excellent but no air conditioning. So after dancing for a while the heat became unbearable and we had to go and sit in the main bar to cool off a bit. We had to do this a few times unfortunately and others that we spoke to were suffering the same. The staff were very pleasant but none of the draft beers were of popular brands so not easy to identify what order without reading all the labels on the pumps. Reasonable prices with clean and comfortable surroundings. The toilets were up to par as well.

We hired the Cellar Bar at The Brunswick for a birthday celebration, and Dana and the team were amazing from start to finish. From planning the event to the night itself, they listened to all my requests and helped me organise a perfect surprise birthday party without a single hiccup. Great venue, lovely staff, thank you for an unforgettable night!

Did the job! Staff were nice, music was fun, the place is a little bit worn and sticky but the drinks were good. Fun escape room upstairs. Food menu was a bit lacking for vegan choices.

First time here, and so pleased it had air con upstairs!! Looks like a fun pub, and at the gig (Saint Boy & Sweet Billy Pilgrim) it was all good; great lighting and sound. Will definitely be back 🩵

Great venue for live shows. Sounds awesome as well as being a really intimate space. Friendly staff and great beers on tap especially Super Pale and Dank Marvin. Food and bar are all plant based with the kitchen offering loaded fries and hot dogs which is the perfect pre gig bite. Decor is also fun. Always a top night out on the tiles.

Perfect venue for up close and personal concert! Went to see The First Time Flyers mid/late Sept '25. The private room w/bar&toilets upstairs was the perfect size with good air-conditioning, keeping the room an ideal temp. Bar was on the smaller side, due to room size, but service was good. 3 x toilets also good size, plus point being as they are in the same room you can still hear the music 🎶 100% recommend seeing live music there!

We organised a work party and needed a venue for drinks at short notice – fortunately the team at the Hope & Ruin were really friendly and helpful, and managed to find some space for us only a week in advance! The pub has a great atmosphere and good drinks, we’ll definitely make it a regular venue for work parties in the future! Thanks to Sally and the team at the Hope & Ruin. Sara, Jay and Patrick

This is the perfect chill pub for hanging out with your friends, listening to music or just soaking up the ambience. The bartenders and staff are always super friendly, with a great selection of drinks and vegan food. One of my favourite pubs in Brighton!

Note! Take £1 per item in cash for the coat service if going to a gig. Canvas bags are accepted as 1 item. An excellent place to spend an evening at. Food options looked incredibly enticing, but I didn't have time to try them out. The interior is lively and full of reused items, and the gig venue upstairs is perfectly adequate for medium-sized concerts. The upstairs toilets are to be considered museum exhibits. Take a picture and get out. Do yourself a favour and go to the downstairs toilet if you really need to go.

A great venue! Fab pub downstairs, which I'm frustrated I didn't take any photos in, as it's so unique. Upstairs is a live music venue, which was the primary reason for our visit. We didn't eat there, but the food being served looked really tasty! The toilets were clean too! Would recommend!

The Prince Albert in Brighton is a unique and laid-back hangout known for its diverse selection of drinks and regular live music performances. Tucked away in the charming lanes of Brighton, this eccentric pub seamlessly blends traditional British pub culture with offbeat charm. With taxidermy decor and a lively atmosphere, it's an unforgettable spot to enjoy local craft beers alongside classic brews like Harvey's Best.
The absolute best smallish music venue in Brighton! I'm surprised they do not have a wall of famous legends playing there. Great sound upstairs. The beer is topnotch and reasonable priced. Great outside space. All staff always great and welcoming. Food not bad at all. And the music.....

I like the vibe of this pub. They were giving out free loafs of bread too. Random but I'll take a freebie for sure! The separate rooms are also a cool vibe if you want an area for you and your mates. Looks very grandiose on the outside. The venue upstairs is a very good little venue with alot of touring bands coming through.

I ended up at this pub due to a train cancellation and I was pleasantly surprised with the experience. The outside of the pub has really cool art work and the inside was super cozy. It’s a little small, so be weary at busier times. I was able to get a drink very easily. The bathroom was clean. They played great music and had very cute Halloween decorations all over. All in all I am very glad I got to visit.

Lovely spot, reasonably priced drinks and very friendly and helpful staff as well as a great live music scene. One of the more well known pubs in Brighton and for good reason, always a great atmosphere here and the regulars are sure to be welcoming to you too. Highly recommend

Gone from an auto 1 star to the 5 stars it deserves because they now have reusable plastic glasses rather than disposable ones! It's an excellent pub, probably my fav in Brighton. Good for bands and life and, while obviously not cheap (it's Brighton) it's not as stupidly expensive as some.

A rare thing in Brighton or anywhere else - a great gig venue that has a great beer selection. A few decent cask ales and one unusual cask cider. Staff are genuinely helpful & friendly. The gig space upstairs is small with good sound and views of the stage throughout. A gem of a place!

Brighton Music Hall, located in Allston, is a fantastic venue for live shows and parties. Situated near the intersection of Brighton Ave. and Harvard Ave., it's surrounded by diverse Asian and Indian restaurants, offering a culinary adventure. The venue boasts Britain's largest heated beach terrace, perfect for enjoying live music in the summer or cozying up during winter. Additionally, visitors can explore nearby pubs like Fortune of War and The Tempest Inn for a unique experience.

Had lunch on a windy Monday. Fish and chips were alright, kebabs were seasoned nicely (and available in vegan option). Service was swift but not in a hasty fashion, and very friendly. The music was not entirely to our taste, but always great to see live music being supported and encouraged.

Great venue on the prom where you can sit, look at the sea and have a coffee/glass of wine, fish and chips etc. The added attraction here is that it is also a music venue. 'Buskers' come along every day, some singing their own choice of songs some happy to play requests. There is no charge as such, although there is a bucket you can put money into if you think it's worth it - we definitely did. Stay for 1-2 songs or all day. The bonus to this is that the owners of the cafe attached are happy for you to sit there and hopefully eat their food, drink their drinks but if they don't have what you want they are happy for you to buy elsewhere (plenty of choice around) and come back and sit and listen to the music. Somewhere I will definitely go back to next time I'm in Brighton

The bar also features a visually arresting interior with three floors, including a stylish roof terrace. Bohemia's kitchen serves full buffet options for those feeling peckish.
The flames above the entrance immediately drag you into the restaurant. Was a relatively quiet night when we were there but it’s certainly a place that will be popular. Food is delicious, drinks are amazing, desserts are theatrical. Will be back next time we are in Brighton

Myself and my daughter found this place by chance on our last evening of a short trip here last week we’d already had dinner so didn’t eat here unfortunately but it is now on our list to do so. We were looking for somewhere to go for a cocktail as we were leaving the next day and bit of live entertainment. We had already walked past during the day and had pointed out what a lovely place it looked so I was quite glad that we got the chance to go back. We sat by the bar and downstairs it wasn’t particularly busy but the atmosphere and the place is just so welcoming warm and comfortable. It’s a nice place to be in.The bar Staff were absolutely fantastic Finn was the initial bartender on his own and when it picked up, he still kept up the pace he was Making complicated cocktails for people but will still be personable fast and letting customers enjoy the cocktails that he had made. He was then joined by Callam who also worked just as hard it was in refreshing watching people enjoy their jobs. A small note I would like to also add is that I was impressed on how hot they were on ID and everybody that came into the bar. The bar started to fill up and the atmosphere just got even better. They had a live band there that evening that we’re doing covers of songs and they to were very interactive and just really made the whole place come alive (the iron boot scrappers) We had some quite theatrical cocktails and a few drinks and left after a few hours, but we will definitely be back for food and more drinks the next time we are back thank you for a great time.

Spending a couple of days in Brighton for leisure time. We arrived at around midday and stumbled upon this hidden little gem. We were immediately greeted by our host and offered a window table. The decoration and atmosphere are great and quirky. Food wise we opted for Fish & Chips. The food is presented to a really high standard and the quality of the ingredients is amazing. Probably the best fish and chips I have had in recent years! The fish was chunky, moist and freshly battered. The chips were skin on chunky wedges which were also very tasty. The dish also came with mushy peas and tartare sauce. A lovely venue with a great atmosphere and food. Thoroughly recommend!

I’ll be honest I really wanted to like Bohemia as I’d heard good things. Plus with a name like Bohemia I was expecting something a bit off the wall and special. Maybe even some decent Czech beers on offer.. However our experience was poor. We stopped in for lunch with the kids. And even though we were the only people present each order we made for drinks or food took an inordinate amount of time. We even asked for some table water a number of times and never did receive it. Also, as a Sesame allergy sufferer, they had no alternative options for family favourites such as burgers. Disappointing in this day & age. Will not recommend. And will not return.

I have ordered sea bass, it was amazing, compliments to the chef. However, service was slow at the time I visited, and there wasn't many people indoors, the outdoor tables were definitely served quicker. Dog friendly only outside and didn't offer a bowl of water for the dog :/ one waiter who seated me was in the hurry, so didn't feel welcomed and another waiter really nice , perhaps I stopped by at the shift change at ~5pm

What an extraordinary place! Along with Pinello and The Regency, it has become my favourite place in Brighton. A mysterious wood panelled restaurant and bar which also has a fabulous terrace upstairs. They have jazz music at night. I went for a Sunday roast lunch. The food is great: I got a huge chicken ( as big as a pterodactyl!) cooked to perfection, with loads of vegetables and duck fat potatoes. I asked for a mixed berry drink so got all my vitamins too. The place caters to all tastes, the service is extremely courteous and attentive and it’s good value to boot. What more could you ask for? I couldn’t go in the evening as it was my last day in Brighton and I had to pack. But I’m definitely coming back during my next visit.

It was pouring with rain so we fell into this place when looking for somewhere to eat. What a find! The food and ambience was spot on. I had fillet steak and my friend had cod, and we both agreed that the taste and quality of the food was exceptional. Candlelit with an arty elegance, this is definitely a beautiful place to come for a lovely evening meal.

Smart restaurant just off the Lanes. Lovely big widows that give an inside/outside feel if you’re sat by the pavement. Food was good and well presented, but not remarkable. Friendly service but a bit slow.

The food was a bit overpriced for the quantity as well as quality, we ordered the chicken satay and pan seared scallops as starters. The No 32 burger we got was nothing great for £13 BUT the cocktails were delicious (pina colada and a cosmopolitan) The ambience of the restaurant was lovely and the staff were top notch with their service.

The restaurant is huge !!! Must be great to have a party or family gathering here. We love the prawns and fried squid. However the bread I ordered was a bit burnt. The roast chicken my fried order was large portions, will suggest to share w two ppl. The fries was super good !!! Will come back for that fries again. And the bartenders looks rly cool, must try their cocktails next time 👍👍

We had a large table of 13 booked for a birthday, which we booked well in advanced and pre ordered all the food as requested. Considering the price point and the fact that all the food was pre ordered the experience we had was very disappointing. Upon arrival we were seated in the only section of the restaurant without functioning fans/air con. When we asked wait staff if the fans could be turned on they said they were broken but they could give us complimentary tap water and ice to keep us cool. We had about 4 different staff take drinks orders which considering the food had already been ordered one would imagine that only taking drinks orders would have been a breeze for the staff but service was slow and some of the drinks orders were incorrect. The plates from our starters had started to be cleared before some guests received their first drinks. The food aswell was mixed with some of the food being cold, specifically the lamb burgers, and the menu stated skinny fries and we all received chunky chips. The truffle fries were just the same chunky chips with some grated cheese and a small amount of truffle oil. The quality of the food didn’t match what they are charging. But the most disappointing thing was the atmosphere in general. The manager seemed nice on arrival but all the other staff we encountered seemed miserable and unhelpful like they did not want to be there and we just generally felt unwelcome.

We stopped in for some food and had the pizza, it was really good! Fresh, tasty, and cooked just right. No complaints about the kitchen at all. Unfortunately, the service didn’t live up to the food. The staff seemed more focused on flirting with each other than actually serving customers. Took far too long to get a drink, and it felt like we were interrupting something every time we approached the bar. Great pizza, but the service needs sorting.

I am very sorry to do this, but if you pay £50 for pizzas that were never received, what choice have you got? Management completely absolved themselves of responsibility. Once the wrong order was placed, that was that, and as a result I am £50 out of pocket. Put a really bad taste in my our mouths after a whole day spending money with the establishment.

Tonight my friend had a rough night and drank too much and the staff- Parker and I didn't catch their name but the staff member with short blue curtains- were incredibly helpful and kind and we didn't feel like a nuisance at all. Went yesterday with my friends. Due to my medication I drank more than I should and ended up in the toilets. Someone called security and they took care of me. While I was told we had to leave, they were very patience and understanding, and explained it would best for my safety and wellbeing. They were able to escort me outside and make sure I was ok and had a safe way home. Beside that, great songs from the DJ, heap drinks, lots of fun, loads of people, definitely recommend 👍

The atmosphere was electric, the dancing crowd was super joyful, and the staff was very friendly. We were in Brighton for just 5 days and ended up partying at Revenge on 3 of those nights! The place was full of amazing colors, and the music was absolutely fantastic, with tons of awesome pop hits that kept us dancing all the time. Nice venue. The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly. Few bars inside Don’t like the way you queue on the street and is isn’t roped or organised but we got inside quite quickly when the queue started to move. Lots of good seating all with a great view of the stage. Could do with a deep clean the seats were quite dirty. Security were good to remove people when needed throughout the pablo show.

Visited here to watch a live music event. Easy to find on the seafront but parking is an issue. A modern and roomy building with aircon throughout. A good sized bar with a decent range of drinks. The ground floor was the standing area and there was plenty of room... The 1st floor was the seated area, the seats are a bit cramped and leg room limited, but compared to some older venues I've been in, they weren't too bad.... The stage is large and was easy to see from the seated area and the acoustics were good. I would definitely attend another event held here.

Great place for a large conference with smaller rooms to hold fringe events. All the staff are super helpful the only downside is the cost of refreshments

Lovely venue good view too. Only confusion was the naming of the seats, a common issue for everyone who was changing their seats! Also worth knowing you can only take in a collapsible water bottle into the event space.

It's great the venue is more up to date than it used to be but very bad for disabled visitors with hidden disabilities. We had booked a access ticket for a concert due to my husband not being able to stand for prolonged periods of time however the queue to get in was very long and only 1 chair at the main door. We asked if there was a sperate area for disabled ones to enter etc to be told no. We had to stand for a long time with everyone else which was not great. The staff up in the seating area are amazing and very very helpful...it's a shame the entrance staff are not the same and this needs sorting out.
Fiona B — Google review
Not overly impressed, the seats are uncomfortable with no leg room. The drinks are expensive and the food on offer dismal. Parking in Brighton was as ever extortionate. On the positive side the concert was excellent, the organisation by the staff very well run. Just not a venue I would rush back to. In comparison to the theatre in Chichester a very poor second.

It’s been a while since my trip, but the memories are still vivid, so I wanted to leave a review. The batter of the fish and chips was truly a masterpiece — light and crisp beyond imagination. Even after some time, it didn’t get soggy, and the fish stayed juicy and perfectly intact. The beer was fantastic, and the service was very friendly. I’m grateful to have made such a happy memory on my first trip to Brighton. Thank you.

Had a lovely roast. Nice to just stroll off the beach and tuck into roast beef and Yorkshires. Great decor and friendly staff. In truth, I wouldn’t have picked the music but it didn’t detract from the experience. Great place.

Lovely lunch served by Danny! Food could have been hotter ! Three thin slices of beef were delicious but would expect more for £22.. Yorkies need improvement as mine are fluffier and better !! Always like to go out and have food I can’t do!! It is recommend for sure !! Do try it out and hopefully they will do better in Yorkies !! Fabulous staff!!

Great Sunday Lunch, four of us had the Roast Beef, and it was superb. The Butternut Squash Welling was super tasty but could have been a bit hotter. Excellent service and big shout out to Kerry, thank you for all your help.

The magnificent grade listed building has been a prominent part of the community for over 200 years and has a rich history of transformations. Great venue and great staff. I was over from Spain with my wife and two kids for the Father John Misty concert. The security guard Diggory AKA Diggs was very kind, professional and helpful even making sure my kids had water on a hot night. So big thanks to him and all the staff. Great acoustics and great venue
SPANISHMARK — Google review
Attended a conference at Brighton Dome and was impressed by the venue itself, clean, well-maintained, and full of character. The space is thoughtfully laid out and ideal for events, with a professional atmosphere and helpful staff. However, the lunch provided was a letdown. It was serviceable, but lacked flavour and didn’t quite match the quality of the surroundings. Overall, a great venue with room for improvement on the catering front.

Fantastic venue for concerts, and incredibly kind & caring staff! The staff made those queuing outside during the day feel so at ease. Staff can really make or break a concert so I’m really glad to say that they 100% made the concert & the lead up to it such a positive experience for everyone, which is exactly what you want in such an iconic and beautiful venue!

Love The Dome, every gig has a fantastic atmosphere there. Recently saw The Divine Comedy here, such a great gig.

A beautiful venue. We were sat in row B of the circle and had a fantastic view. I think you could probably sit anywhere and have a great view as the theatre is circular. Plenty of toilets. Refreshments and a lift are also available. There is very limited on street parking but there is a NCP car park a short walk away.
Caroline — Google review
Fascinating building, the tyles and wood carving in the entrance, and the period styling of the auditorium. Good sound and great sight lines thanks to steep slope of the circle.

Our first visit to The Brighton Dome. A lovely building. There was good view of the stage from all seats, we were in the circle. The sound system was also very good. The only slight negative was the lack for places to get a drink in the interval as the mezzanine floor bar in our floor was closed so we had to go down 2 floors and joint many long queues for a drink. That said the Nina Conte show was excellent, we loved.

Black Dove is a unique and laid-back hostelry in Brighton, offering a quirky decor, basement DJs, quality cider, and acclaimed cocktails. The venue features DJ nights in the basement and cozy seating upstairs with a mix of be-bop, Jamaican ska, and contemporary beat music. With an extensive list of award-winning ciders and 70 different beers, including new brews regularly added to the selection. The interior boasts deep mahogany colors with vintage furniture, books, and retro collectibles.
The Black Dove in Brighton is such a cool spot if you’re into quirky, cozy pubs with character. It’s got this relaxed, bohemian vibe—think vintage decor, dim lighting, and mismatched furniture that makes it feel super homey. Perfect for a laid-back evening. The drinks are awesome, especially the cocktails. They’re creative but not too fancy, and they’ve got a solid selection of craft beers too. The staff are really friendly and know their stuff, so if you can’t decide, just ask for a recommendation. The music is great, and there’s even a little basement where they put on events if you want a boogie. My favourite drinks are: Crimson, Kemptown, and Corpse Reviver II.

Been there for years. A bohemian and kooky little bar, in the middle of a semi residential Georgian area of Brighton. Very unique space, offering different selections to your mainstream drinks. Always full of interesting people. Old school vibes, classic music from a record player, interesting art, unique... worth a visit
Imogen W — Google review
An quirky bar suitable for an alternative crowd, definitely worth a visit. Visit here for some unique cocktails, a relaxed youthful atmosphere, gothic/new age vibes and some imaginative decor. The bar men were professional, friendly and fast. They were extremely conscious of guest experiences even while having plenty of fun themselves. It is Brighton so there will always be some trouble which when it happened on the night, outside the pub, they dealt with swiftly and professionally. I was impressed at their abilities with getting the night back on track. They were also very clearly good at judging which customers wanted to chat and entering into a dialogue. They seem genuinely to care that people have a nice night. Our cocktails were brilliant and they were bespoke. My drink was perfectly sweetened and my partner got his old fashioned the way he wanted it to. The only negatives I have for the bar is that I think it could do with a clean. I love alternative pubs but I still think it is nice to feel you are in a clean space. I also didn't really like the music too much.
Lauren W — Google review
Nice little pub with a fairly eclectic style. Only red wine is in cans. But the beers looked nice and a great selection of whisky. Stopped here to meet an old friend and say hello. Was a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours chatting. The event room downstairs looked amazing and will probably try to go back for a visit when something is happening. Like an old speakeasy in the basement.

Came for 'Horseplay', the basement area where it was held is one of my faves; it's like being in the belly of a ship in the best way. The event itself was so creative and wonderful and I recommend everyone attend at least once! However, the drinks were TOO expensive. £8.50 for a medium house wine is crazy even for Brighton!! But overall it's a super unique pub that is definitely worth checking out

Casablanca Club in Brighton is a long-standing live music venue and bar, established in 1979. It features two rooms, one for live music and the other for DJs, offering a lively atmosphere with soul, funk, disco, and pop music. The club hosts resident bands from Wednesday to Saturday and provides a large dance floor for patrons to enjoy the brass band-skewed covers of popular music played by The All Stars.
Georgia is lovely. she is a total sweetheart, looked after me and my friend when we were a tad separated drunk😬 super lovely girl, felt very safe with her.

I was so excited to enter the club but the guards stopped me asking for physical ID. I did show my BRP but since it was expired I couldn’t get inside. I understand it’s new rule and everything is online now but I offered to show them my online government verification as well but still they didn’t let us in. How can this be my fault now? We came from so long and treated like this. Not worth it.
Pritom B — Google review
Great fun other than the victim blaming!! Long story short, I basically got blamed by a bouncer for the way I acted during a spiking incident even though I do have solid evidence it was a spiking. Got told this was my last chance to get in and just to “not get close to anybody”… in a packed club? One of my favourite clubs but really killed my vibe
Jenna — Google review
I used to love coming here but after last night I don't think I'll ever return. £9 entry was obscene for such a paltry offering of lukewarm covers, overpriced drinks and rude service. The music here used to be the main draw but what a fall from grace it was last night. Id excitedly brought my little sister for her first time and was amped to hear the normally stellar house band, but whoever was on yesterday was unpolished and unpleasant to listen to, the venue was more than half empty, and the bar manager was rude and manipulative, extracting as much money from everyone as possible. Used to love it here, will not be returning.
Maxi — Google review
Had the most amazing night at Casablanca on Saturday night! I must admit the outside of the club didn't look too promising but once inside it really didn't matter because of the fantastic live music. There was a young singer with a guitar in the free bar area, who had a great voice and got us all singing along. Then we went downstairs to the large bar area (got discounted entry for £7 instead of £9) and saw an amazing band - female singer with an awesome voice and fantastic keyboard, lead guitar, bass guitar and drummer. They sang a real mixture of songs from ABBA, Justin Bieber, Beyonce to Chappel Roan and the crowd loved it all! It's been a long time that myself and my friends have seen such a quality live act and the atmosphere in the club was great too - everyone having a good time! A truly memorable night for our special weekend in Brighton!

Volks Bar is a longtime staple of the local music scene in Brighton, with electronic, drum ‘n’ bass, reggae, ska, jungle, and punk music. The club sees as a very down-to-earth and unpretentious place where great live music can be found. During the day it has an outside terrace for drinks, but at night it becomes an underground club that is popular among adults.
Probably the best spot in Brighton for boss beats and banging bass. Come with good vibes... and you'll leave with double. Best bar staff in town by a country mile. Security always on point. Good mix of different nights for all tastes. Love this place. Big up the Volks massive 🙌🏽

I was visiting from Berlin last Friday. Some people told me to go to Volks, so I got there Friday night, and I was absolutely impressed! I rarely experienced such a heartwarming stuff who cares so much about their guest. Thank you a thousand times for letting me know that there a still places out there which aren't completely commercialized, gentrified and mainstream. Loved the DJs and their music! One star minus for missing a good visible awareness team. My friend experienced an overstepping situation.
Jana J — Google review
An absolutely fine example of a grass roots, underground nightclub. Super friendly vibes, awesome staff, friendly security and massive nights with amazing artists week in week out thumping out bangers on the RC1 rig. Family friendly daytime events throughout the week and weekend serving well priced tasty food. An amazing outdoor terrace right on the seafront perfect for idling by the hours on a summers afternoon.
James M — Google review
Terrible night watching The Toasters. Sold and introduced as all the way from NYC. They are not. English through and through. Shocking and played for less than an hour. £30 to get in and less than an hour set from a purely English band promoted as from NYC. The band made venue leave on horrible strip lights during the very short gig. Killing any atmosphere. We politely spoke to Chris the promoter who literally shouted in my ear and was very aggressive. No refund as his dog was ill. He said he does a lot for charity. No charity registration on this gig? Volks you are better than this! This is Brighton, do not use a misogynistic aggressive promoter who tells lies and has no professional or people skills what so ever. Let’s your whole club down. If you want to see a genuine NYC Ska Band go see The Slackers. They tour regularly and come to Brighton. They are the real thing.
Kim — Google review
Beautifully located along Brighton beach, Volks (especially in the summer months) provides excellent music and even greater cocktails. Then, once it switches to a club venue come nightfall you will never be short of a great 'omg last night was amazing' story. If you're visiting Brighton or even a local who hasn't ventured down yet, I can't recommend it enough.
Maddie O — Google review
The one and only Volks Nightclub, i can come down daytime for pure vibes, and great music. Drink deals thoughout the week, and friendly staff to serve them to you! Bring on the night time and on the weekends for cheap drinks and a showcase of some of the best bass music and artists the industry has to offer. All blasting out of the the RC1 soundsystem from 11pm-7am every weekend.
Aidan H — Google review
Has potential to be the best indie bar, but genuinely the worst dj'ing experience i have ever seen. Coming straight from a bloc party gig to the after party - i think it was the DJ's first ever time DJ'ing - the mixing was awful, the song choice was horrific and the DJ was just DJ'ing to himself.
Anthony D — Google review
Best club in Brighton, could argue even the whole of the UK. Proper underground night club with an insane sound system (RC1), the staff are the friendliest I’ve ever encountered, even the whole security team are amazing. If you love drum & bass then this is the club for you. Even during the day the club is family friendly, the vibes at are immaculate and the food is sooo good at such a reasonable price. Volks forever <3

Wonderful, charming and intimate venue. Approx 300 seats mostly raked where everyone has a great view of the stage and the performers. On this occasion it was an evening with John Illsley, formerly of Dire Straits. Wonderful stories as well as a live band performing songs from every Dire Straits album.

We came to see Chris Difford on 30/09 and the experience was excellent. It was a gig with unreserved seating, but staff were on hand to help people find a seat. We sat about midway back in the upper section and the view was excellent. The seats were also super comfy! There is a decent sized bar and service was very efficient - I actually managed to get a drink during the interval without any wait at all. The venue is located close to lots of bars, cafes and restaurants and there are takeaways nearby for after. An excellent venue that I will definitely return to.

Really enjoyed visiting this venue and made a dream come true by getting tickets to see American Football on the 1st of July. The venue is nicely laid out, but toilets downstairs could be a problem for some. Lovely open concert room. Narrow Bar for congested before concert room was opened but only for around 10 mins. For a 500 ticket event, we queued around the outside of the building, but I'm sure assistance could be given to anyone with accessibility needs. No heavy-handed security, friendly bar staff. Great pub, very friendly staff. It was the best bunny chow I’ve had from this outsourced kitchen. The lamb was lovely and tender and there was plenty of it. The only downside is that they don’t do proper samples, so it’s not really a proper Durban curry. Other than that, I enjoyed my time there
Ashley C — Google review
Well, without exaggeration the best curry I’ve had on the south coast, by long long mile, quite simply superb.. Cooked with love, plenty of that, oh yes. The gravy for the curry was on another level, it really was. I was fortunate enough to speak to the inspiring chef who kindly explained that his superb gravy/sauce for all his curries are cooked for at least 4 yes 4 days before finally serving. That is a serious rarity in the Uk, it’s serious bit of cooking and the chef knows what he’s doing. The rice was excellent, tenderised beef that just melted in the mouth, incredible beef which incidentally the chef gave me the heads up with his butchers he’s got which is just literally 1 minute away from the Freemasons up farm road.. Now the Roti’s. My word, again without exaggeration the best Roti’s I’ve had outside of India, honestly you got to try them, so so good, mar it together with the curry, outstanding. You’d be a fool if you didn’t try the food in the Freemasons, you will not be disappointed, I swear! If you live in Brighton or are just visiting, you must visit this place. Real English pub, with an 80/90’s vibe, real honest people, brilliant staff, always have good music playing, food is simply on another level, what is simply not to like. Just go, don’t miss out because in Brighton and all along the south coast the food is of pretty poor standard and way way to pricey, the Freemasons is a no brainier, enjoy..

What a perfect outdoor entertainment venue. A small amphitheatre seating about 400. A simple stage set consisting of a concrete wall backdrop and an AstroTurf stage cum dance floor and that's it. Alcotraz Brighton: Cell Block One-Three is an adventurous cocktail spot with a prison-style setting, where guests are required to wear orange jumpsuits and immerse themselves in a bootlegger theme. The experience involves bringing your own alcohol, which the mixologists then use to craft cocktails for you. This immersive and relatively expensive option is perfect for special occasions like birthday parties or hen dos.
This was absolutely unbelievable. The actors were incredible, so funny and believable. The guards were hilarious and the warden was quite scary. The cocktails were genuinely some of the best I’ve ever had, delicious cherry one and a passionfruit one, the kitchen staff were lovely, the drinks were very fast. I didn't know what to expect until I got there and i have to say it was so much better than I'd imaged . 10/10 to all involved and thank you for the best day x #Noodles!

Was a bit unsure what to expect, but from the officer meeting it us at the door, we instantly became part of the experience. Actors / staff were absolutely fantastic, cocktails amazing, and the whole experience was awesome from start to finish. We left with aching jaws from laughing so much. Even learnt about a very rare animal the zebra giraffe. Thanks for an unforgettable time.

Amazing experience, top quality actors and delicious cocktails! Very funny and engaging. From the moment we pulled up outside and waited for our time to began I knew it was going to be good, I didn’t expect it to be that fun from the moment they came out to greet us!

Fantastic experience. Very immersive, and try to make sure everyone is involved even if there are some strong characters in the group. They also don't push too much if you're not that confident. Fantastic balance. Genuinely funny experience. Cocktails were great! Got our unused drinks back at the end too. I initially felt like it could have been longer, as a long time is spent outside with the debrief and getting ready. But i didn't feel short changed.

Hobgoblin, located on London Road, is a popular and laid-back pub known for its artsy vibe. The pub features dark wood floors, exposed brick walls, and outdoor seating. It's a hotspot for students due to its spacious beer garden and special deals like Tequila Tuesdays, Lemon Wednesdays, and Candy Shop Thursdays. The addition of The Doghouse kitchen offers a variety of food options.
Came here on Saturday, 12th April. Every single member of the bar staff was so nice and friendly. (I was there on my own as my party had left early!) I had a great time in this place. The DJ was awesome as well. Recommend to all. 😍

I tried the new pizza kitchen, Dark D'oH browser, at The Hobgoblin and honestly, it was amazing. I’m not even usually a pizza person, but the Devourer completely changed my mind. Everything worked so well together — it was messy in the best way. My friends had the vegan one which they were also thoroughly impressed with. You can tell everything’s made with care. Definitely worth checking out if you’re there!

Best beer Garden in Brighton!! - The Hobgoblin is a staple of Brighton life. It's a fantastic pub that's been around for so many years it feels like it's a part of Brighton's heritage. The Beer Garden at the back of the pub is exceptional, extremely Large, fully covered (for those raining drinking sessions) and, in my humble opinion, very well laid out. The staff are always friendly and professional and the pub always partakes in festivities and seasonal events. Drinks prices are average and they often have live music. It's a cornerstone of pub culture and I cannot fault them on anything. Their food is awesome too. well-priced and good quality. If you are visiting Brighton, make time to have a pint at the Hobgoblin. You won't be dissapointed :)

Lovely place, great interior and exterior, long que for drinks but the bar staff are great and friendly. Huge outside area, well lit and colourful with a good atmosphere and buzz.
Anastasia K — Google review
Great prices especially for students deals. Friendly staff and a great garden area until 11pm, heaters and covers for during cold and rain Too!
Hannah J — Google review
The outside of the pub is one of London Road’s more colourful contributions. Since Indigo took over the Hobgoblin Brighton it's had an elaborate and eye catching graffiti mural of some description which is an indication of the young punters it’s aimed at. From the dusky neutrality of the inside, you enter the neon jungle that is the back garden. There must be 12 or 13 tables of various sizes, painted an assortment of bright primary colours and laid out across a massive astroturfed space. Many of these are in their own heated booths, and those that aren’t are mostly covered by retractable rain covers. Music is pumped out through speakers and the garden also plays host to some mega garden parties with live DJs according to their socials pages. There are a decent number of taps here, even if beers on offer are weighted towards mass-produced brands – lagers like Pravha and Madrí. ‘Craft’ options include Blue Moon, Neck Oil IPA and Gamma Ray APA though they have been known to stock local craft brands such as Gun Brewery and 360. There's a full review of my visit here and lots more pubs on my blogsite...

Nestled on Little East Street in the vibrant South Lanes, The Pipeline is a must-visit rock bar that perfectly blends live music with a delicious vegan menu. This lively venue is not just for music lovers; it’s also an inviting space for budding musicians looking to host their own gigs, complete with a full backline and drum kit.
We happened to walk past here on our way to our hotel and heard 🤘music. Dropped our bags and ran straight back! Perfect way to spend NewYears Eve. The bands were awesome. We didn't get to try any of the vegan food, but there are plenty of beers at reasonable prices. The bartenders were attentive and the security staff were on top of it. Shout out to Thomas for running our new favorite Brighton metal / punk bar .

Went here for a gig on NY Eve and had a great time : excellent sound, lovely bar staff, great atmosphere. Will definitely return next time I'm in Brighton
Camilla S — Google review
Found this place on happy cow! Struggled to find it on google maps but realised we should’ve been looking for ‘the pipeline’ as it’s in there. Called ahead to see if there were tables, there were - they were preparing for a gig upstairs. The sound check was a bit distracting but nothing we couldn’t handle. The member of staff was really friendly, he informed us it was the first day of a new menu. There were also specials on the board. We ordered a house red, a pint, an ultimate burger, a rasher and blue cheezly burger, onion rings and cheezy chips. The service was quick, the food was great, extremely filling and would have everything again apart from the cheezy chips. Everything amounted to the bargain price of £28. They didn’t have desserts but it was something they were looking into. They kindly advised where for to go to get dessert! It was a bit cold inside. I didn’t take my coat off until we ate. If you’re looking for stodgy, filling vegan junk food, come here! Check out the music listings too if it’s what you’re into.

Hidden away, this gem of a rock bar is definitely one to visit. The bar area is fairly small, but they have an area upstairs that houses bands. Didn't have time to go up and have a watch, but sounded good. Drinks were cheap and the music was good. Next time I'm in the area will definitely be visiting again.

What an absolutely gem of a venue. Relaxed and friendly but with top notch owners and music. No wonder this venue is one of the top 10 jazz clubs in Europe. I say jazz but there are plenty of other genres of music on show here.

A real gem of a place. The owner and staff were friendly and attentive, the jazz top-notch. We turned up unannounced and unticketed during the intermission after a show we'd booked was cancelled, so wanted to "make up" for the disappointment and make a success of our night out. This club more than satisfied that, especially as they only charged us half the full ticket price. Would definitely return and next time, catch the whole session!

Hosting a live event at The Folklore Rooms in August and it was fantastic! This was our first time working in Brighton and I don't think we could have asked for a better space. Noah, in particular, was amazing and aided the night massively. The actual room was beautiful and intimate in a way that exemplified the acoustics! Will definitely attend again

One of the most beautiful, atmospheric and magical venues our group has ever played in. from the moment the gig was booked, everyone was so helpful. then the venue itself is just stunning and the sound engineer, Carla...well, what can I say...a consumate professional and so patient with all our musicians' demands. If you are a musician, believe me, you really want to come and play here. If you are a member of the public...well, you will not find a better venue to enjoy an evening of music. First visit to this live music venue last night and I was extremely impressed. The performance space is in a room above the Quadrant pub and it is well presented and comfortable with a friendly vibe. The stage is visible from all seats and the sound quality is excellent. Access is via a steep winding staircase so its not ideal for those with mobiity issues. The audience were quiet and respectful to the musicians and other audience members during performances, without any of the distracting chatting that blights so many events. All in all, this is a proper grass roots live music venue and shall be back soon.

Daltons is a new and vibrant venue that opened in spring 2023, situated below the Brighton Zip on Daltons Beach. It features two live music rooms, with the main room accommodating 170 standing guests and the smaller room holding 50 people, also available for rehearsal space hire. The venue has gained a reputation for consistently providing wonderful experiences for both artists and customers. It is dedicated to promoting diverse local talent and regularly hosts drag performances, particularly during pride celebrations.
I love daltons so much. I spend so much time here as an audience member and as a performer. The staff are so so so lovely. They have the best technician in Brighton in my opinion - she’s so easy to work with and attentive and cares a great deal about the artists tech. They’ve got a really fun games section with a pool table and arcade machine. Their green room is fab - includes a couple mirrors and seats to comfortably get ready, a curtained off space to change, some sofas and table - very comfortable. They’re so welcoming. Most of the events I’ve been to here have been LGBTQIA+ events and they are such a safe space. Their outdoor smoking area is fab, covered and with heaters. It’s fully accessible. Favourite venue in Brighton hands down. Big love to Daltons 💕

Absolutely wonderful venue ! Emmeline & her staff were so amazing before & On the night Nothing was too much trouble . If you’re a promoter or want a fantastic night out 100% recommend . Thank you Daltons ❤️
Blue P — Google review
It's a great venue but it's a 1 star review because they give out disposable plastic glasses. They are awful everywhere, but Daltons is right by the beach so obviously loads end up in the sea. Lots of venues in Brighton issue reusable plastic glasses with a deposit. So they can't say there isn't a solution. They might just not want to pay for staff to wash the glasses but, at £7.20 for a pint of Guinness (which is a lot even for Brighton) they can afford it. I bought one pint and decided not to buy another one as I'm not spending nearly that much on 2 beers.. or adding more plastic into the environment. I really hope they change how they do things - it's got great potential and, at the moment, I'd only be able to tell people to avoid it.

With a capacity of approximately 200-300, the venue offers an intimate setting for live music experiences. Guests have praised the friendly staff, talented DJs, and affordable drink options. The venue features two bar areas and a stage for acts, creating a great sound quality for performances.
Went to see a band play. It is located in the basement area, down a flight of stairs. Has 2 bar areas (drinks reasonable price) and toilets. No food here, as far as I am aware. Staff helpful. Not huge but had a great sound to it! There is a stage area for the acts.

Went for a paid event and it was completely dead. Not worth the money. And they had no cocktails. Which sucks since I can't drink beer and fizzy drinks are rough on my stomach most of the time. We went to a free pub and they had better music and drinks and it was packed, better vibes.

Went here for a gig over the summer and honestly the sound for live gigs is so bad we left within 15 minutes as it sounded noisy and you couldnt hear the vocals at all. This is not the first time i has happend but it was my first time ever walking about from a gig! I felt bad for the performers as they poured their time and money into their art but it was showcased in a way that was very difficult to enjoy!

I arrived to the brat rave and got denied entry as soon as I got by the door because I was apparently too intoxicated, wasted money for absolutely nothing. And I met some people who actually did go in and they said it was completely dead
Charlie — Google review
Went here for a live music gig which was changed from Chalk at the last minute. Bouncer and bar staff were friendly but bar staff served me alcoholic beer instead of alcohol free and it was too late before I noticed. The smoking area is TINY. the picture makes it look bigger than it is. It's about 1m x 2m and EVERYONE outside HAS to stand in it even if they aren't smoking. Big downfall for me was the fact that you have to leave your drink inside which isn't a problem but when you have to leave them directly by the door where everyone is going in and out its unsafe. It leaves everyone open to drink spiking which is more common than people think and people putting god knows what in your drink or stealing your drink. That's a no for me. Sound for live band was good. Not all that accessible for those with disabilities.
Serenity M — Google review
A nice basement club. A good selection of drinks at the bar. The only downside is there isn't any mobile phone signal inside.
Chris T — Google review
Went here for 'Montage', an 80s / 90s movie soundtrack themed night for old people. The doorman genuinely asked me for photo ID, even though I'm 51 (and look 57)!? The club was less scuzzy than I'm accustomed to but still fairly sticky, with some cool looking 80s techno lighting, reminiscent of the nightclub RoboCop drags Leyland Palmer out of by the hair or the club where the Terminator goes looking for Sarah Connor, albeit smaller & more British. I suppose it's also a bit like a Lazertag. The music was great & loads of people dressed up (mostly as 50-year-old bald men with beards). Drinks & bar staff were decent, toilets were horrible (obvs) & the photo booth was a fun addition. Stayed until the bitter end (3am) & suffered for the next week. Great fun. Never again.

Attended for a punk gig, and it's a great fit for that purpose. It's a small square basement that's a little wider near the front for moshers, with a small bar at the back. Good selection of drinks for somewhere so small too! The sound was good, and there was a decent sized space at the side for merch tables. I'd personally pick the Prince Albert or Hope and Ruin over this place for 100ish cap gigs, but it's perfectly nice here and if a band you like are playing go check it out.

Live music venue
WaterBear Venue, located on Brighton's seafront, is a unique spot known for hosting events and gigs for students and the public. The venue has a cove-like vibe with an underground shelter feel and foliage ceiling, creating a cozy and intimate atmosphere. Guests have praised the great sound quality, fast and polite bar staff, and the overall friendly vibe of the venue. It's described as a cool place to attend gigs by WaterBear students with a unique aesthetic and good drink options.
Great little venue. Decent acoustics and they serve brewdog punk IPA. What's not to like!

Last night we (Brighton based dance music Radio station CodesouthFM) ran our House Sessions night at Water Bear Brighton. 2 days before the event, I left a phone message detailing the nature of my call, asking for a phone call back on a tech spec related matter. I didn't receive the expected call so we were't excatly off to a flying start on the communcation front. FF to the event night, and from the minute the duty manager Dylan arrived before doors opened and we were setting up our livestream, nobody could have been more helpful, accommodating and understanding about everything we needed. They had our posters up, and our flyers on display. I have 12 years venue management experience in London from dive bars to 1200 capacity club / venues and was seriously impressed at the lengths Dylan went to in ensuring we had everything we needed before, or when we needed it. Our card machine was playing up on the door at one stage, Dylan offered us a spare. The security and bar staff were fun, polite, but professional and efficient. Usually venue staff do the job, but the entire team at Water Bear Brighton are to be highly commended on the service they provided and the positive attitude with which they delivered it. I hope we can run more events there if the team are as consistently as good as that! 5 stars all round!! Very impressed.

Went for an English Disco Lovers gig and was decent enough.

A venue that works well. The sound is great, bar staff fast working and polite. I'd have to say it's a extremely brilliant venue. Could do with a lighting rig though.

Sweat box club with a Funktion One sound system. What’s not to like?
