Ritsurin Garden, a stunning masterpiece from the 1700s, is a must-visit destination nestled in the heart of Takamatsu. This expansive garden spans an impressive 75 hectares and showcases meticulously designed landscapes featuring serene ponds, charming bridges, and traditional teahouses. Originally constructed by a feudal lord over nearly a century, Ritsurin became public property after the Meiji Restoration and is now recognized as a National Treasure.
Definitely my favourite park in Japan so far. I was visiting different parts of the country for 3 weeks. The landscape is wonderful. The garden is well maintained. You see lots of different animals (fishes, turtles, colorful lizards and of course many different birds etc.). You can also buy some fish food. And watch a tea ceremony.

Discover a stunning park that's breathtaking any time of the year. Spend a whole day exploring its scenic beauty and relaxing atmosphere. Inside, you'll find charming eateries and a delightful tea house, perfect for a quick refresh or a leisurely sip. Don't forget, for just 100 yen, you can buy food to feed the cheerful fish, adding a fun touch to your visit.
Adr G — Google review
One of my favourite gardens in Japan! Not crowded at all but so well maintained and it was absolutely beautiful! I was not expecting it to be so big and they had a stamp rally that made it fun to go around and collect them! The teahouses were also lovely. Even the staff and volunteers were incredibly nice, met a wonderful volunteer named Toyota-san who spoke wonderful Englush and had amazing stories to tell!
Katia L — Google review
A must-visit place in Takamatsu area! It is mostly flat around the garden so that it is easy to walk around, and there are a couple of Cha-Ya (Japanese tea house) that you could relax and enjoy the beautiful views while sipping excellent quality tea and sweets. Very picturesque and I’d highly recommend this place!!
Young L — Google review
It was better than I expected. The Kikugetsu Stay, which borders the largest pond inside the park, made me want to be there for a long time. The staff wearing kimonos guided me inside an old wooden house, drank tea, and it was an experience that made me realize that I had come to Japan. I went around every corner of the building, felt the atmosphere, and explored the space. I would like to visit again next time. 🌳
Seoyeong K — Google review
A very nice Japanese park, good for strolling and bird watching. A lot of people were bringing their long lense camera. There's also stamp rally going on inside the park, you don't have to collect all of them (there are 8 spots), you can get a sticker! The routes are very pebble-ly , might be challenging for wheelchair users. There's quite a few steps as well. There's also a tea house where they serve you green tea in ceremony style... and lots of koi fishes! They sells the koi treats for 100円 there's stick version (like ice cream cone) and the normal pellet too. Wedding ice cream is fun to eat too.
Jessica T — Google review
I decided on a morning run from my hotel to Ritsurin Garden, hoping for a quiet solo stroll. Upon arrival, a guide kindly offered me a tour. I was hesitant at first due to my limited Japanese, but the guide was incredibly patient and welcoming. We managed to communicate using a mix of basic phrases, gestures, and a little help from Google Translate. The result was a fantastic, personalized tour that taught me so much about the garden's deep history and exquisite beauty. It was a highlight of my trip—highly recommend accepting the offer if you get the chance!
Betty L — Google review
Unlike other more famous Japanese gardens (Kenrokuen or Korakuen), Ritsurin boasts a mountain in its background, which adds a lot to the depth of the view. Good place for a stroll.

Takamatsu Castle Park, also known as Tamamo Castle, is a historical site in Takamatsu, Japan. Built in 1590, the castle ruins are set in a parklike environment with a moat filled with seawater. The area offers visitors a glimpse into the region's feudal past and features attractions like the colorful columns by Shinji Omagaki at Takamatsu Port.
The admission ticket for each adult is 200 yen. You could pay 100 yen to get some fish food. I think it was quite interesting, you poured the fish food into a pipe and the fish food rolls to the pond through the pipe. A lot of fishes were waiting for the food beneath the pipe end. Two pigeons were surrounding me when I was near the capsule toy machine for the fish food. 🤣🤣🤣 I think it’s worth visiting the site of the former Takamatsu Castle.
Karen C — Google review
A historical site of Takamatsu Castle near the sea. Ticket cost 200 yen for adult. Good to visit and there are many good photo spots.
Patthawee W — Google review
Very interesting to get a look at this partially ruined castle, where only two towers remain, both beautiful, but of the main keep, only the rock foundation at the centre still stands. It is noteworthy in a different way, rougher and simultaneously it appears like a modern art installation. Quite rare in Japan, the moat is connected to the sea, so fish and other sea creatures can swim around. The park also has a nice temple/tea house building, although currently under restoration. Great place to have a picnic.
Emiel H — Google review
You need to purchase a ticket at the counter to enter the grounds. However, despite it being well maintained, there's not much ground to cover here. Even the ruins covered only a very small area.
Tia I — Google review
This historical castle was part of the park. A small entrance fee was required. Two carparks were very convenient. The railway was just outside the park. Although the castle and other buildings were not so large, they were well maintained and worth paying a visit. The garden was planted with lots of cherry trees. Some seats and tables were available. Toilets were clean. This was one of the sightseeing points in the city, which was easily accessible with or without a car.
Joseph C — Google review
Immaculately kept castle and park. The moat and gardens were the highlight. There was even a boat giving rides around the keep. No huge crowds and very tranquil. Well worth an hour of your time.
Owen — Google review
A good place to check out, if you’re in Takamatsu area. Small, but the place embraces a couple of picturesque spots.
Young L — Google review
Very interesting sea-side castle that has largely remained intact. The moat connecting to the sea lets in loads of fish. Worth the admission if you have time to spare.

Museums
The Isamu Noguchi Garden Museum, located in the Mure area of Takamatsu City, was once the studio of the renowned Japanese-American sculptor. The museum features outdoor displays of his carved stone artwork, showcasing his unique blend of Eastern and Western influences. Visitors can explore the museum's central and convenient location, just a short walk from various transportation hubs and other attractions in Takamatsu City.
Fascinating place to visit on the outskirts of Takamatsu. Tools left as they were by Noguchi himself, along with several iconic works and unfinished pieces. We visited in the depths of winter - no wonder he didn't really stay here in that season, it was cold, but also very few people. Def recommend. Take cash if you can, credit card is possible but caused quite a kerfuffle.
Nick C — Google review
***Check the opening hours before you head over.*** It’s only open three days a week, with just three time slots per day, so be sure to book your ticket in advance. The garden is lovely and captures the spirit of Noguchi—don’t miss the egg-shaped rock on the hill, where half of his ashes are scattered. A quiet, momentary place to pay tribute.
Skye M — Google review
You have to get the entry ticket months ahead. You cannot take pictures once there. You cannot enter his private house. And still I would give 5 stars. I loved seeing the sculptures. Loved. It was a meditative experience even though a tourist groups were there. If you love his artworks, the trip is a definite yes. And I loved the house even though you can only peek inside. But boy, what a peaking position. The rock table and bamboo background... It is so beautiful, balanced, serene. Mure is a rock carving village. Taking a bus there and walking through the village to get to the Noguchi garden is enlightening. There is rocks everywhere.
Kirsi R — Google review
A must go if you are an art lover or you have visited Noguchi museum in NY, you will definitely enjoy your time. Btw, only accept reservation online. You can visit it without reservation.
Michael L — Google review
I highly recommend for anyone who loves Noguchi or modern sculpture and is visiting the area. The views from the site are wonderful and really accentuate the architecture and sculptures. You can also visits the nearby Nagare studio on the same day to see works by an artist similar to Noguchi.
Stanley G — Google review
A unique experience to see the workspace of this great artist. Beautiful architecture and sculptures embedded in its surroundings. Don't bother about the photo ban or the limited time - just enjoy the experience.
Philip R — Google review
Very Disappointing Visit – Not Recommended I was very disappointed with my visit to the Isamu Noguchi. The guide only spoke Japanese and barely any English, so we received no information during the tour. I expected to visit the artist's house, but instead, we could only glimpse it from the outside—through a window and behind bars—which made it nearly impossible to see anything clearly. The visit is limited to just one hour, and everything feels rushed. There is no time to appreciate the place properly, and we finished the tour without learning anything meaningful about Noguchi or his work. For the high price of the ticket, the experience was extremely underwhelming. On top of that, the foundation is located in a rather remote area of Takamatsu, and the return journey is difficult due to the limited number of buses. I absolutely do not recommend this visit.
B W — Google review
We had a difficult time getting here and communicating with the staff, but it was well worth the effort. Really soulful to see this place if you love art, sculpture, and Noguchi, Be sure to have cash if you are taking a taxi. The museum only takes cash as well. And be sure to have Google translate on hand!

Kitahama Alley, located just a 10-minute walk from Takamatsu Station, is a commercial complex housed in a renovated old warehouse. The retro-look complex features various shops and restaurants, including cafes, antique stores, bookshops, grocery stores, art galleries, flower shops, and creative studios. With its hole-in-the-wall feel and proximity to the coast offering refreshing sea breezes while shopping or enjoying a cup of coffee at one of the unique cafes.
Cute little shops with lots of small independent artists. I recommend this one much more for different buys than your classic souvenir shops. Mind you it isn't all that big.

環境舒服!! The environment is very comfortable, The 北浜アリー (きたはまアリー) is a house which made from Cargo. In the "Alley", many shops are opened by the creative owner. There included some feature cafe, some hand-made souvenir shop. Very relax place with nice view!!!!!!
Dennis L — Google review
This is not a nightlife spot. The Google description doesn't provide hours, but nothing was happening at 10pm except for some flashing lights and a single couple enjoying some take out at one of the outdoor tables. One of the establishments had a no photographs sign on their door. What do they care if I take a photograph of their darkened door and closed sign?
David B — Google review
Quiet, up-and-coming new attraction, but reaching here requires a 15-min walk from the busier parts of the city. Quaint little cafes and boutiques.
Andrewpaedia ( — Google review
Boring place and only a few store without variety. Can better renovate or revatailize something else... Not worth to visit there unless you want to chill a while by walking and a coffee...
Cyrus C — Google review
Much worse than expected. Just only few stores exist. Also, most of them close early even in the evening on Friday. Not so bad but no reason to visit again.
김지효 ( — Google review
Cool little revitalised area, seems like a local hipster area but less pretentious than its Western counterparts. The Cafe itself is pretty cool and typically stocked with books and niknacks. The coffee is decent, not like the amazing places in bigger cities but alright. For those who like sweet drinks, cakes and other sweets it's good. Also the stew and salad we had were really good. The downside is we had to wait about 30 mins each time even on a Monday afternoon.

Beautiful and Serene. All locals and barely see any foreign tourists. Authentic Japanese experience.

Nice temple. But, remotely located. Mostly devout locals go there. Lots of souvenirs available. There are a few view points as well.

I really loved the shrine and the observation deck. I'd strongly suggest taking the bus (there seems to be no hiking trail anyway). The last bus left at 5:30pm when I was there (couple of days ago). The shrine is very quiet, pretty and has little shops around the observation deck during the day with food, souvenirs and ice cream. You can also buy the lucky charms quite cheap at the shrine!

Udon noodle restaurant
Noodle shop
Nakano Udon School Takamatsu is a restaurant and souvenir shop that offers a unique workshop where visitors can try their hand at making Sanuki udon noodles from scratch. Located conveniently near popular attractions such as Ritsurin Garden, Yashima Island, and the temples of the Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage, it's a must-visit destination. The Nakano Udon School Set is one of their popular products, allowing participants to make noodles by hand.
What a fun experience! The lesson took 30 mins, then cooking and eating would take up whatever extra time you need. Early lessons would be less crowded as people try to schedule around lunch time.
Silvia L — Google review
I went to the Nakano Udon School Takamatsu in February 2025. This is the best part of my Japan Trip. Me and my mom really want to say Thank You to all the staff. The instructor is very friendly and the Udon Making Procedure is fun. The classroom is clean and well set up. The online reservation procedure is also easy and smooth. After making the udon, you can cook/ eat it on the second floor. (have to pay before attending the lesson at reception). You can add chicken leg and tempura at a additional cost. I will suggest to add something. When my lunch and lesson is finished. The reception helps me to call a taxi to the train station.
Ronald T — Google review
My family and I had a great time learning to make, cook and eventually eat our own udon noodles. This was a fun time to spend the day.
DJ H — Google review
You could try to make udon yourself here~ You could choose cooking the udon and eat it immediately or take away you udon. Booking required. I wish the teacher could try to have better communication with the non Japanese speaking clients.
Sam S — Google review
**Excellent experience!** Knowing a little Japanese helped during the cooking and prep portion, but it's easy to follow along by watching others. This is definitely a spot geared toward local tourism for the Japanese population, but everyone is warmly welcomed — and I'm really grateful for that. All the food was delicious, with the chance to try various specialties from Kagawa Prefecture. Making our own Sanuki udon was a fantastic, hands-on experience. The staff were kind and accommodating — they even helped us change our reservation type when we asked. As a bonus, you get some nice souvenirs at the end. Highly recommended! Lastly, catch the right bus into the suburbs and back or just take a taxi.
De'Jia L — Google review
Takamatsu is known for its udon, it would not complete without coming to an udon school. The step by step of udon making from scratch was so fun. We truly had some good times here. Ingredients for making udon and utensils are provided for. The udon school is situated on the upper floor while the ground floor is a shop that sells souvenirs and of course udon. As i am gluten intolerance, they were kind to serve a gluten free lunch bento.
Lee K — Google review
They have an English savvy lady who mans the ticketing counter (on the right side of the front entrance as you enter), and she checked us in as we already used the website to make a reservation. Our party of 3 were the only ones in the class, the instructor did his best to show us how to make the udon noodle from beginning to end (with occasional help from the lady); and it made it extremely fun for our family, primarily entertaining our son who can speak a lot more Japanese than us. A very unique experience overall, highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area. You get to bring home what you make as well as some souvenirs!
Vantageshots — Google review
We were on our road trip visiting different udon restaurants and came across this place and had a great time. They taught you how to make udon from scratch and you got to cook and eat the udon that you make. Had a blast!! Highly recommended.

(Translated by Google) Visited on 2025.2.18. Admission fee: 300 yen I visited there because I wanted to learn more about the Takamatsu domain during the Edo period. The first generation of the Takamatsu Matsudaira family was Yorishige Matsudaira, the son of Yorifusa of the Mito domain. His younger brother was Mitsukuni Tokugawa (Mito Komon) of the Mito Domain, and Mitsukuni's son became the second lord of the Takamatsu Domain. I get the feeling that it is a clan close to the Tokugawa clan. The highlight is the model of the Takamatsu clan's barge. It was a great ship! What was disappointing was that there were many videos that were being adjusted. I'm sure it's difficult to operate with a limited budget, but there was some content that could only be viewed there, so I'd like to request repairs as soon as possible. (Translated by Google) It is located on the 4th floor of the same building as the library. There are exhibits about Takamatsu City from primitive times to postwar times. You can see valuable materials such as gold earrings from the Kofun period and a model of a feudal lord's barge from the Edo period. It's a shame that there aren't many medieval (Kamakura/Muromachi) exhibits, but it's worth more than the 300 yen admission fee. This is more recommended than the Prefectural Museum. Three-dimensional objects are old-fashioned and have strict restrictions on height and width. Both are free for one hour through the machines inside the museum. Many of the permanent exhibitions are still being adjusted (broken?). Although it is municipal, there are also parts of the surrounding area. Unusual for this kind of work, there are quite a few explanations from the modern era onwards. Newest park in the area. Not a park in the playground sense (most kids will be disappointed). Think of it more of a strolling park, or an outdoor art gallery. Not much shade as yet as the majority of the trees are newly planted. Great view of the surround.

However, since it was a weekday, there were hardly any oncoming traffic. Even though it was October, it was so hot that I gave up on going to the observation deck at the back. I'm a wimp. As the name suggests, Sculpture Forest is lined with a variety of sculptures. Even I, who am not particularly interested in art, found it quite enjoyable to look at them. Amazing (free) playground/science center for kids. You can spend 3-6 hours here. Allowed to bring your own food too. Free parking. It offers a glimpse into rural life from years ago, featuring ancient towns, temples, palaces, and more. The village displays well-preserved structures including centuries-old cottages, a tea-ceremony house, and a 250-year-old kabuki stage. Visitors can also explore homestays and daily necessities from different eras.
Very authentic and fantastic experience where you really get the feeling of living in the old Japan! We easily spent 2 hours there but you can also spend less if you want. Just make sure to get a map by the ticket office and then you are good to go! Amazing experience😍

Fantastic!! Go here for a photo op 😎😆 It's definitely something you should check out if you can. Beautiful as well as interesting and informative in a very natural way. You can feel like you're stepping into history and the stories & lives of those who have lived in the Shikoku region. The crafts that are explored are really neat and the care given to bring these buildings and preserve them is wonderful. Plus, there are so many really great spots for photos!! Honestly, if you want something good for Insta off the beaten track this is a good one. I recommend visiting with friends and dressing up to have fun with it!

When compared with other entry fees around Japan, we questioned whether to visit (¥1,600). We are so pleased we made the decision to enter! What a beautifully curated village. Serene, informative, simply stunning. The ‘wasanbon’ sugar extraction process in the museum was fascinating. Definitely worth a trip across from Osaka/Kobe to see this and visit Rinritsu gardens.

Superb! Worth double the ticket price. Tells stories about the ingenuity and creative spirit of Shikoku people through buildings and other material things. We spent 6 hours here not counting a lunch break for delicious udon. I loved the (outstanding) English translations of the interpretive videos and signs. I found the stories really moving (especially the Yoshino sisters ❤️ revisiting their childhood home and reminiscing after 55 years). I loved taking a break by the irori hearth with the elderly man who was keeping the fire going. I loved the extravagance of the ikebana floral arrangements large and small everywhere. I recommend this museum to anyone who has a heart. Take it slowly and enjoy the soul of Shikoku

Takamatsu Symbol Tower, a 30-story landmark completed in 2003, offers stunning panoramic views of Takamatsu and the Seto Inland Sea from its observation deck on the 30th floor. The tower houses commercial office spaces, the Kagawa International Convention Centre, and a restaurant on one of its higher floors. Situated near a waterfront park and close to a railway terminal, this iconic structure also features a shopping mall with various dining options and shops on its lower levels.
So this is a review in 2 parts. One for the building itself and the other for the observation deck. BUILDING Symbol tower is a gorgeous skyscraper. At 150m and 30 stories it’s the tallest building in Shikoku. It’s easy to see why they chose the name ‘symbol’ as it dominates the skyline of Takamatsu. At night the tower really comes alive with the gorgeous side lighting facing the JR station. 5/5 OBSERVATION DECK Head up to the 29th floor. There’s a double height viewing area which looks over the south of the city. It’s fine as a view, but there’s nothing of interest to see. If you want the ‘good views’ then go to the restaurant on the north side, grab a coffee and enjoy the port. 3/5
Rich L — Google review
I think this is a office building but there are free observatories at level 8 and level 29. I saw many people in work attire leaving when I was going down from level 29 to level 8. At the level 29 observatory, there is a cafe inside as well. Level 8 is open air, so it might be quite chilly when the sun is setting. The view is quite stunning during the sunset period, worth a visit if you got nothing else to do and just want to relax. Visited on 31 Mar 2025

The observation deck on 29/F is great and it is free! Worth to go if you are nearby. It js just next to Takamatsu JR Station

A commercial building set between Takamatsu Station & the Port. The building consists of offices, food court & restaurants, exhibition halls & and observation deck on the 29th floor.
Ken I — Google review
I was very disappointed with my visit. The sign clearly says the observation lounge is open until 23:15 (and another notice even mentions 22:30), but when I arrived before 20:30 it was already closed. There was no clear explanation or announcement about why it closed so early. I came here specifically for the night view, so it was really frustrating. I hope the management provides accurate information and keeps the promised opening hours in the future.
이지훈 — Google review
The tower was located in the waterfront. The railway terminal was very near. Next to the building was a signature park in the city. The shopping mall on the lower floors were restaurants and shops. Many parking lots were available underground. The lifts leading to the observation level were free. Chairs and long desks were placed there for people to take a rest and enjoy the view. Toilets were clean. There was a restaurant operating on the higher floor. The night scene should be specular. Nothing was selling on this floor. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxing.
Joseph C — Google review
Went to the top floor at night for a view point, can't even see anything unless your face is up against the glass due to all the lights on. A better view is the 5th story observation deck from the ufo building. I went at night so can't speak about the stores and shops.
Eric G — Google review
The Takamatsu Symbol Tower is surprisingly slender for something called a 'symbol', and it's not easy to spot at first. The observatory is located on the second-highest floor and is not very spacious. Seating is tied to ordering from the small café. Nevertheless, on a clear day, the harbour view is beautiful, and I imagine it must be equally stunning at night. The very top floor is home to a stylish French restaurant that I hope to try on my next visit.

I wish I had read the comments before going, and at the same time I'm glad I got to witness this with my own eyes. I visited many aquariums all around the world and I had never seen anything like this. The tanks are way too small, dirty. The animals are in great distress. I am surprised there is no regulations and if there are some, this place should close down and the animals moved to a better, decent place. It's really disturbing.
Mii — Google review
An aquarium built on top of a mountain seems like a strange choice for aquatic life, but it seems this place was built a while ago, so it is a little dated. I saw workers maintaining and keeping places clean, but I do have to agree with other reviews that said there were quite a few exhibits that were definitely too small for the animals. That being the case, they did have some interesting exhibits like jelly fish polyps, as I have never seen them in person before.
Brandon S — Google review
I wish I had read reviews before going. This place is horrible. I would give 0 stars if i could. To keep mammals like manatee and seals in horrible dirty tiny tanks made me so sad I wanted to cry. It is incredibly inhumane and dirty they are mammals just like us and it is so sad to see them with no space going back and forth all day long. This place made me feel so sad and depressed. U am so sorry humans are doing this to these animals. Do not support this place it’s disgusting.

Now, they have a new bigger tank for dolphins and also spacious space for penguins. (Translated by Google) Located in Takamatsu City, 83-ban Ichinomiya-ji Temple is situated on flat ground, making it easily accessible from the city. The "Ichinomiya" in the temple's name refers to its former position as an Ichinomiya of Sanuki Province, a place of great historical significance. The entrance is a stone gate, leading to a simple approach flanked by stone Buddhas and trees, creating a tranquil atmosphere. The main deity is the Bodhisattva Kannon. The main hall is small, yet solemn and simple, with the grounds neatly maintained. The Daishido Hall and bell tower are nearby, creating a simple overall flow. Ichinomiya-ji Temple is particularly famous for its "Hell Cave" within its grounds. This small cave is said to lead to hell, and visitors lean forward to listen to the sounds within, a cautionary tale. This small detail lends the temple a sense of history, making it a highly anticipated experience for many pilgrims. Onigashima Cave, located on the quaint island of Megijima in Takamatsu, is a must-see landmark steeped in Japanese folklore. This cave is adorned with vividly colored demon statues and hundreds of metal figurines, bringing to life the famous folk tale of Momotaro and his quest to slay the demons. The cave's passages can be challenging to navigate due to low ceilings, but its surprisingly level floor and manageable twists make for an enjoyable exploration.
It is must visit spot on island! You can choose to walk up, renting a bicycle to get to there or take a bus instead! For bus as i remember is 600 yen per ride! The price of visiting the cave is 600yen! I think it is worthwhile to pay for! Since not many people come here, therefore only me in the cave that day! The cave is full of myterious and a bit scary! Because it reminds me of a horror movie: travellers want to adventure in a cave, however there are human-like creatures living in that cave! They will kill and eat people there! BUT IT IS ONLY IN MOVIE! The cave i have visited in Takamastu is so safe! And i think it is so magical, if you stay inside the cave, it is sooo cool inside just like an air conditioner turned on inside! It is really a stunning natural views in Japan! If you want to do exercise in Japan, you can walk up to the cave! It takes you around 3-4hours for round trip! Remember to bring more water with you!

I came here while I was on vacation and it was really fun. Getting to the cave takes a ferry and bus ride, all of which are fairly easy to purchase. Look up the ferry departure times and arrive about 20 minutes early to get a ticket. You'll want the extra time just in case you have trouble figuring out which ticket to buy. The workers at the docks are very friendly and will give you directions if you ask. After the ferry, you'll arrive at a visitor center. You can either hike to the cave or purchase a bus ticket at the visitor center and get a ride to the mouth of the cave. It's pretty easy even if you don't understand much Japanese. Have a translator app handy. After the bus ride, you'll buy a ticket to the cave, and you're free to explore. The cave's association with Momotaro is fun, but the actual history of it being discovered by a school principal (or teacher?) is just as charming. There are several ceramic tiles or emblems depicting oni decorating the cave made by school children that are very old (I was sad to see a few falling apart, but I guess that's expected). There are oni statues there to help illustrate the legend of Momotaro too. The cave is only about 10 different rooms or so, so you can go through it pretty quick. If you are claustrophobic, I'd advise against it. I have a fear of being trapped under rubble or things falling on top of me, but I didn't feel nervous. Just be aware that there are some tight spaces. Once you are done with the cave, there are several paths going to various parts of the island you can explore. All are easier hikes, though the humidity and heat might make it a little challenging if you aren't accustomed to it. I loved my experience. My only critique was how you needed to purchase three separate tickets to get to the cave (ferry/return - bus - cave entrance, though all three were inexpensive). The website has no means of purchasing any of those tickets (maybe the ferry but I bought mine in person). And the bus schedule is managed by another company and not readily available online. If they offered some kind of large ticket for the ferry rides, bus ride, and cave entrance, it would greatly streamline the process and might even encourage more visitors.

Chuo Park is a charming urban green space featuring an expansive lawn and children's play areas. It is renowned for hosting a vibrant flower festival. Situated in the heart of Takamatsu City, the park offers a peaceful retreat amidst the bustling city center. Visitors can enjoy leisurely strolls, admire various statues, and take in the serene surroundings.
I didn’t plan to stop at Chuo Park, but I’m really glad I did. It’s not a big or flashy place, just a calm, green space in the middle of the city where time feels like it slows down a bit. There were locals walking their dogs, a few kids playing, and enough trees to make you forget the noise outside. I sat on a bench, took a breath, and just... existed for a while. Sometimes the best places are the ones that don’t ask for attention. Chuo Park is one of those.

We passed by Chuo Park when they had a festival in August. The park was filled with young locals in kimonos. There was a big concert thing going on, as well as a night market type event with lots of stands of summer food. It’s a really big park with lots of open space when there’s no event there. Lots of mosquitoes in the darker areas.

Takamatsu Harbor Tamamo Pier Lighthouse, also known as Seto Shirube, offers a picturesque setting for an evening stroll along the sea. The lighthouse itself is a captivating sight during both day and night, adding to the enchanting atmosphere of the area. While it may not be possible to enter or climb inside the lighthouse, its striking red exterior makes for a memorable landmark. Visitors can enjoy jogging by the sea and may even spot people searching for Pokémon in the vicinity.
The trek to the lighthouse is reminiscent to the journey to enlightenment, at the end I was jumpscared by a couple behind the lighthouse. It was hard to make out anything in the dim light but if you’ve ever seen snails mate it resembled that. Much like the path to enlightenment, in a way.

The Tamamo Breakwater Lighthouse, also known as Setoshirube, sits astonishingly close to the sea at Takamatsu Port, providing an exhilarating sense of proximity to the water. A popular turnaround point for joggers, it’s also an excellent spot to watch the ferries heading to the surrounding islands. The combination of lively activity and expansive sea views makes this a surprisingly enjoyable and scenic location.

Best place in the city centre for parents of small kids (1 to 5 or 6 years old). Absolutely fabulous staff, very friendly, welcoming, taking a lot of initiative to show any child how the toys work and then leave them on their own to play. (Translated by Google) I went to the Sanuki Toy Museum with my family! In conclusion, both adults and children were very satisfied!! I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to go with their children in Kagawa Prefecture! It's located inside Sunport Takamatsu, close to the sea and easy to access. The museum is filled with the scent of wood, and the moment you enter, you feel at ease. Not everything is made of wood, but most of the play equipment and toys are made of wood, giving it a warm feel. There are clearly separated areas where babies can play safely, and the area for children aged 0 to 2 years old is impressive with soft flooring and rounded toys. Children over 3 years old had a blast! There was a pretend play area, large wooden play equipment, and a wooden pool (not a ball pool, but a "wooden ball pool"!) and they were engrossed in playing there. Adults can also enter the wooden ball pool, so we all rolled around together, feeling like kids again for the first time in a while (lol). The presence of the "toy curator" was especially good. Rather than being staff, they were more like play guides, encouraging children to play well and gently teaching them how to use the toys. They were very friendly and reassuring. They were not at all pushy, and it was amazing how they naturally brought out the "I want to do it!" in children. Inside the museum, there are toys related to Sanuki's traditional crafts, as well as exhibits and play equipment made from wood from Kagawa Prefecture, so it's great that you can "learn about the region while playing!" As a tourist spot, you can feel the essence of Kagawa, and it's very satisfying. In addition, depending on the season and weekends, workshops are held, and it seems that you can experience wood crafts. I wasn't able to participate this time because the schedule didn't work out, but I'd like to try it next time! The museum is clean, strollers are allowed, and there is a nursing room and diaper changing space. The facilities are quite extensive, so it's great that even families with small children can enjoy themselves without worry. The only thing to be aware of is that there are busy times. It seems to get quite crowded on weekends and holidays, so I recommend going early! You can enter smoothly if you make a reservation in advance online. There is an admission fee for both adults and children, but given the fees, I think it's reasonable and actually good value for money. You can re-enter the museum, so it seems like a good idea to have lunch outside and then come back.

Born in Washington state to Japanese parents, his family was sent to a Japanese concentration camp during World War II. The museum showcases his philosophy on manufacturing and displays various works and reproductions on the second floor, while the first floor features furniture, a tea room, and video screenings about Nakashima's legacy.
The official studio and gallery in Japan for George Nakashima of New Hope, PA USA. The video by his nephew which is an award-winning documentary gives you a great understanding of George Nakashima. If you are shipping to the United States you cannot purchase in Japan due to licensing. You must purchase in the United States for shipping in the United States. GH

Public transportation is inconvenient, and as a person with a disability, I have to be picked up and dropped off by my mother, who is in the latter stages of her senior year. This point alone is the biggest drawback of this pool. I wish they would at least run buses. There are buses running in front of Busshozan Station and Busshozan Onsen. The road is quite misaligned, so it would be difficult to incorporate it into the bus route. There is a changing room for people with disabilities, as well as toilets and showers for people with disabilities. There is a special exception for people with disabilities, but they can enter the pool through the back door. The staff are friendly and highly considerate towards people with disabilities. The restrooms are in the changing rooms for people with disabilities. It is not a heated toilet seat. This is the only point I would like to see improved. I don't know what the public restrooms are like since I've only used them here. My mother seems to have used the public restroom, but she said it was Japanese style. Due to the high prices for the general public, there are few customers, but there are quite a lot of elderly people who get discounts and people with disabilities who can get in for free. Persons with disabilities can enter for free as long as they are accompanied by one person. Improvements should have been made so that those with mental disability certificates can receive the same services as those with physical disabilities. I am not sure about the rehabilitation notebook (intellectual disability).
