This is a must go destination while travelling in Shillong. The local Khasi name of the falls is Ka Kshaid Lai, which literally means waterfalls with three stages. You can not see all three stages together but you have to go down through stairs to visit each stage ......all three stages are very beautiful. The largest one is the third and lowest stage. This area also have plenty of parking and good food options. Also good for buying souvenirs.

Indeed an elephant, This elephant falls has 3 falls, first at the top, then the mid- layer and then you land to the bottom. You need to trek for 15-20mins, the stairs are proper so won't be a difficult trek, it would be total of 150-200 steps. If you plan to visit elephant falls, please wear proper shoe as sandals might slip, rest everything is perfect 🙂

Visited on a misty and rainy afternoon so missed out on the Shillong view but the experience was nice with some great pictures around and the wooded area as well . This is situated inside an Air Force cantonment area which means restricted access for vehicles. Only the regular taxis in that area are allowed to enter so you would need to switch cabs and pay 200 INr for a return trip ( 5 min drive ). The drive inside is nice and you get to see the cantonment area and school and all the facilities for the residents. No pictures till this view point , photo id are mandatory .

Which they need to produce at the ticket counter. Personal vehicle are not permitted to enter the area so a vehicle has to be booked from the ticket counter itself which will take you to the peak.

Beautiful view of the city. You need to go through the air force station Shillong to reach there. Need to buy tickets and cabs of local unions are only allowed to go inside, unless you have a permission from the Air Force or GOi.

Genuine review: Heavy Traffic on weekdays as it on the road of cherapunji all school, college and office going vehicle will jam the road. Personal vehicle needs to be parked appx 2.0 km away from the peak. There you have to collect tickets of Rs 50 each as entry fees and Rs 200 for taxi ( as the peak is in Airforce campus) 3 persons can seat in a taxi. Every individual must carry government issues valid ID proof. Airforce jawan will check the ID proof and allow you the enter. Peak is worth watching.

Don Bosco museum offers many displays. It's multi floor building. It's a lot of knowledge and great collection of North East heritage. Most recommended place to visit in shillong. Entry fee to museum 100 /- for adults, 50/- for children upto 5th STD. Camera fee 100. There are 7 floors and last floor has sky walk. Amazing experience.

My wife and I visited the museum in Oct 2025. At first we were really concerned how we would be able to climb th 7 storeys but soon after entering a staff member kindly directed us to a lift that took us to the top sky walk and we could enjoy all floors (a MUST visit) strolling down. A men's or Ladies toilet on every single floor makes it Senior friendly. The collection is a comprehensive and superb one. We came back knowing a lot about all 7 North East (sister) States! Highly recommend a visit.

This is a must visit in Shillong with a ticket cost of just 20 rupees per head, I highly recommend to explore this place in order to understand the cultures and heritage of all the North Eastern States We went there with minimal knowledge and we got to experience most of the cultures. Also would recommend taking an option to click pictures. It’ll help you in making memories We took many pictures and had really fun at the view point as well. It's a well maintained museum and the skywalk gives a vast panoramic view of the Shillong town. It's a must visit if you're in Shillong. The ticket is cheap with extra charges for mobiles and cameras. The museum beautifully showcases the rich cultural heritage of the Seven Sister states and one brother Sikkim. Each floor is dedicated to different aspects of tribal life, their belongings and how they manage their livelihood. One can understand the difference between the cultures of the seven states in a very lucid way.

A great place to hangout with friends and family. The zoo portion of the park is now closed, but the rest of the park is quite big enough to hangout and maybe have a picnic. There is enough play area for children, an ideal place for kids.

Lady hydery park is situated in the heart of Shillong. Good place for chilling. One carry food and enjoy it with family. You can play small games like badminton, throw ball and spend your day.

Loved this place ,enjoyed visiting after a long time. Our little Argha enjoyed a lot playing there. Sad part is zoo is closed for maintainance. Garden is now blooming with Camelia ,Azelia and many other season flowers. Maintained nicely people can spend some time in the nature. We could show Argha only Pelican, and some ducks. Still she was happy. Only the water bodies need some cleaning and maintenance. Ticket price Rs 20 /adult, Rs10/children below 12 years. Still camera charge is Rs.50

Actually the viewpoint here is Shillong peak which is a hidden gem in meghalaya. Most of the people don't know about this view point from where you can get panaromic view of the whole shillong valley . Even Tour agencies don't go to this place . But this is a must go spot . On a clear weather you can see the whole city from here . This is inside indian air force base . To go here you have to take tickets which costs Rs.100 per person. From the ticket counter you take local taxis (price included on tickets) which you take to shillong peak and get back again. One must carry original ID cards like Adhaar or Voter to enter this air force base camp inside which shillong peak resides. Another information is this shillong peak is near Elephant falls so after visiting shillong peak you can go elephant falls which is about 10 min by car . Do not take pictures or videos of air force base but once you get to shillong peak you can take videos and pictures.

The museum is well-maintained with aircraft displays, war memorabilia, and informative exhibits. The staff are polite and helpful, and the surrounding area is very peaceful. It's an amazing experience to visit the museum. Make sure you carry a valid ID as they will register your name and ID details for security reasons. The museum is quite small but has a good collection of miniature aircraft models and lots of photos. The area outside has life size helicopter, planes, etc. that are just massive and awesome.

The location is manageable for a quick visit at any time because it is not overly large. There is typically no rush here. There is a strong collection of tribal and local culture here. There is a separate area for each of the following: apparel, art, and musical instruments. Increasing the collection would aid in promoting this institution.

My first day in Shillong started with a visit to the Museum, and it turned out to be a beautiful experience. There was almost no crowd—just one lady at the entrance giving tickets . Since no one else was around, I explored the entire museum alone, which made it even more peaceful and personal. The place isn't very big, but it's very well-maintained and thoughtfully arranged. You get to see a lot about the local lifestyle—traditional clothing, dressing sense, musical instruments, coins, flowers, and even geographical maps. It’s a wonderful glimpse into the culture and heritage of the region. If you're in Shillong and interested in local history and culture, this museum is definitely worth a visit. There are now 2 museums next to each other. The entry ticket is now Rs 80 for Indians and Rs 300 for foreigners. There's an additional Rs 100 for photography. The museum is very well laid out especially the new museum. Don't miss the immersive video room while there. All in all I think it was money well spent.

A very beautiful church with lots of history and many sayings. It has a double stored building type structure which is pretty good. Also, the color of the church matches with the sky and I heard somewhere this church can withstand earthquakes as well. They have made this church so beautiful. Before going, read about the history of the church and then go. There is a packing space also for vehicles on the top and there are some associations as well. It feels good to be there for some time.

It's beautifully built across a large area and has two levels both the upper and lower sections are stunning and calm. The entire church is so picturesque that I couldn’t stop taking photos. Every corner was beautiful and serene. But beyond the beauty, what made this visit unforgettable was a very special moment. I wanted to light candles as a prayer, but unfortunately, there was no shop nearby. I was a little disappointed. Just then, a local person saw me and kindly offered me a candle. When I tried to pay, he smiled and said, "You’ve come to God’s house it’s free. Please take it." That moment was so pure and touching. I’ll never forget his kindness it made my entire trip feel truly blessed. This place is not just a church; it’s an experience of peace, humility, and connection beyond religion. If people have idea of photography, only then you'll get pictures as in shown here. The place is so unhygienic. I got a very disappointed feeling reaching there. And to the spot going is too dangerous.

This place not very accessible or well maintained. It is as natural as nature gets, but only if you are okay with the pollution in the stream. I couldn't reach the waterfall, neither attempted to because of the polluted end of the stream where I started. But the catch here is that, if you follow the trek uphill like I did, you will enjoy a very pleasing view of the pine trees.

Spring Eagle Falls used to be nestled in pristine wilderness, offers a captivating sight with its thundering cascade, drawing visitors into its enchanting realm. Surrounded by lush greenery, the falls gracefully plummet into a crystal-clear pool below. Sad to say, it has been getting overpopulated with tourists and becoming very unhygienic due to lack of management. Hope to see improvements ahead and proper care to this beautiful place.

A humble war museum of the Indian Army. Its located at the junction of Guwahati -shillong and Shillong -Cherrapunjee road, about 2 kms away from the city.You would be welcomed by a old war machine - Tank- at the entrance of this museum. One of the best and most well maintained churches in the entire city of Shillong. You can spend hours sitting in the driveway and watching rainfall. The gardens are well maintained and extremely tidy. Walkable distance from police bazar and centre point of Shillong.

Here lies the great history and stunning architecture. The Aglican Church so beautiful and blessed. The wooden structure, interior decor, lawn and peaceful and divine environment amidst the city was a must visit to all. Besides worship many community events taking place. Was blessed attending Easter Services in the Church.

The original cute church opened in 1876 got destroyed in earthquake of 1897 and the current church is rebuilt around 1902.Located in the middle of busy road the simple structure is impressive and has nice prayer hall with wooden ceiling supports and has excellent stained glass paintings of mary with jesus as Madonna,Last supper,jesus kingdom etc though the fragments are not attached properly.

Beautiful church in the centre of the town. Was there around Christmas-New Year time so was decorated nicely. Night-time view was excellent with mist engulfing the whole place and lights giving a warm glow.

Small, clean and spread out, the Ever Living Museum is the life long work of one man's passion for orchids, plants, trees, coins, culture, stones, crystals, shells. Each of them is lovingly placed and labelled. We were honoured that Mr War took us through each section of his collection. I would definitely recommend a visit. Oh, his ancestors actually thought up and painstakingly guided the roots of trees over cane skeletons to build the double decker Living Root Bridge of Meghalaya. All the knowledge and food we sample during our travels leave us wondering about this wonderful country that is ours - Bharat.

One of the best private museums. It highlights the evolution of Meghalaya and North East not only culturally but also geologically and from geographical point of view. We were personally guide by the Owner of the museum Mr Kyntiewbor War, who is passionate about preserving and spreading knowledge about the tribal cultural heritage of the Garo Khasis and Jaintia tribes of Meghalaya. He patiently explained to us many things among the many things, like how root bridges were designed and formed. He has also botanical garden set up with rare flowers and plants. If you are interested in history geography or botany. This is a must visit place..

The view point is beautiful, and it’s few minutes from police bazaar. Parking is free, no ticket price.

Not easy to reach and not well known hence just caught a glimpse of it from very far. Not worth the drive. Maybe there was another way to it but no one knew.

It's a good place to get an aerial view of Shillong city. It was good. The cars are not allowed inside. You need to get the tickets, pass and id proof go inside after verified by the police. And they will provide you the car to go inside also.

Shillong Viewpoint at Laitkor Peak was a mixed experience for me. The view itself is absolutely breathtaking—you get a sweeping panorama of the city, the hills, and on a clear day it feels magical, almost like floating above the clouds. That part really lived up to the hype and made the visit memorable. What disappointed me, though, was how commercialized the whole place felt. Instead of focusing on showcasing culture or giving visitors a deeper experience of the region, everything seemed centered around selling things—photo ops in traditional Khasi attire, snacks, and trinkets. The charm of the natural setting gets a bit overshadowed by the push for money. Despite that, I can’t deny the beauty of the viewpoint itself. The scenery makes it worth a visit, but the experience could have been so much richer if it celebrated the culture as much as the view. For me, it’s a solid 4/5.

The view point is about 1.3 Km from the main gate of Airforce Unit of Shillong. You can enjoy nature while seeing the Shillong view from the peak. A private collection of insects and butterflies. Ok to visit if you are nearby and are curious. Entry is 50 per head and every photo taken is chargeable Rs 10. The owner will check your photo album to see how many photos you have taken. This is not the way to publicise your museum and i disliked this practice. It should have been a single photography fee. The collection is not so unique or amazing which demands fee for every photo taken Overall an okay experience.

There are many specimens of butterflies and insects . This museum is in the basement of one house . We had to ring the bell and there was no response, luckily one girl from neighbour hood came and opened the door and called the lady owner of the house who was not very proactive,she checked our phones collected fees without any receipt of payment and said Rs 10 for one shot . She was not very pleasant ,we were asked to put of lights from shabby basement. Though the collection was good I wish the lady was more proactive and pleasant They could have the door open and keep one receptionist and made museum in more professional way . Just requires 20 min to go though museums.

Lots of flowers and a few animals like ducks as well. There's a coffee shop inside as well with a beautiful view. Is in essence a small park within the city and you can spend about 30 minutes here. This botanical garden have so many plants and a lake with ducks. Here i mat a women, she have a beautiful north east child. I always remember her within my beautiful memories in northeast. A very nice and beautiful mosque of Shillong in laban area. It is intricately designed with green glasses all around. Besides this the mosque has huge ground area for parking or gatherings. There is also a hall for varied functions like marriages and other gatherings.

One of the most beautiful mosque in the entire North-East, decorated with green glass, illuminates in the sunshine. Very neat and clean with all facilities within. The committee also runs and an Education Institue and a Orphan's Madrasa in it. There is even a restaurant/cafe inside with very low prices. This is a Sunni mosque from what I've noticed, not sure whey some claim it to be a Shia mosque though.

The Madina Mosque is a mosque situated at Shillong in Meghalaya State of India.It took one and a half years to complete the only glass mosque in India and the largest one in the northeastern region. Madina Masjid, an imposing and resplendent structure of glass dome and glass minarets. Madina mosque is the rare architectural marvel in India as it has an striking and glittering structure of glass. With its 121 feet height and 61 feet width, this surprises one and all for being the only Green mosque after the blue mosque of Istanbul. The four storied structure of the religious place also has an orphanage, a library, and an Islamic theological institute. The mosque and the adjoining Idgah could offer space for 8000 people for an assembly or prayer.  Interestingly, highest number of people, who contributed to the construction of mosque, was Hindus. The Mosque also has a large garden with several plants. Over the years, it has acquired increasing significance in the world as a center for Islamic study and spiritual center.

Over a Century and half old shrine. Visited on 02 Feb 2025. It is dedicated to Lord Mahadev (Shiva) and Devi Kamakhya. Apart from these there are temples of Shri Ganesha, Ram and Krishna have been created. You can approach it either by road or cross country from Rhododendron Trek. Sanyaasis from Shri Gorakhnath Matth sect reside there. During day time an armed guard of CRPF is located.

The gurgling of the river, the chirping of the birds, the soft caress of the breeze... a place one would like to sit and enjoy. The Shiv Linga is an ancient one, discovered during excavation. Hence, the name Khola Mahadev. The cave opening inside the temple is said to lead directly to Kamakhya temple in Guwahati. A local shared that a sadhu and another man has attempted that journey.

The Mahadev Khola Dham is an age old temple located in the city of Shillong - Meghalaya. The temple is dedicated to Lord Mahadev and is said to be more than 150 years old. It is situated about 4 Kms from Shillong city and can be reached by taxis, city buses and private cars. The devotees need to walk about 300 meters from the main Gate of the temple as the path is not meant for four wheelers. The temple is situated in the midst of hills in a beautiful, picturesque location. The small stream flowing around the temple adds to its beauty. There are other temples dedicated to Hindu Gods in the premises. Maha Shivaratri is celebrated with great fervour and a large number of devotees visit this temple. The wheelchair is inaccessible due to the steep slope on the way to the temple. There is no specified parking place for the devotees, while entry to the temple is free. Puja items are available in the shops near the temple. Drinkable water is available in the premises of the temple. Overall, a must visit place for all.

Mahadev Khola Dham is an ancient cave temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, located approximately 5 kilometers from the Shillong Bus Stand in Meghalaya. Believed to be around 150 years old, the temple is one of the oldest in the region and holds significant religious importance. According to legend, a sage named Lakhiya Baba chose this cave for meditation. A Subedar-Major from the 8th Gorkha Regiment dreamt of the sage meditating with a trident and a rudraksha necklace. Upon searching, he discovered the sage at the current temple site. During excavation for the temple's construction, a large Shiva Lingam was found, leading to the establishment of the temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple complex includes several smaller shrines built by devotees whose wishes were believed to have been fulfilled. An annual three-day fair is held during Maha Shivaratri, attracting over 25,000 devotees seeking blessings.

Good place. One has to Travel in the guwahati highway and take a deviation from the petrol bunk. When we asked a cab driver to drop us there he warned us that we may face some trouble by the local boys and asked to avoid that place. Still we (group of 3, including female friend) visited this is place on our own and found a very good view of the falls. Later a group of wicked boys of age group 12-15 arrived there, and started staring at us weirdly, puffing cigarettes (could be weed as well) simultaneously. Later we remembered the warning given by the cab driver and took extra caution about are belongings. Without giving any chance for a conversation we left that place. Visit this place in normal day time with the sufficiently big group and take extra care about your valuables.

You can see in amidst a city a waterfall, quiet place to hang round if you want lonely space, not much of a view.

Beadon and Bishop falls are the name of two waterfalls located on the outskirts of shillong at Mawlai Nongkwar BL 3. These two water falls flows from different sources and meet at this place. Its an awesome sight with a breathtaking scenery. However, the locals call it.'sonapani'. 'sona' which means Gold in Hindi and 'pani' means water. But these waterfalls has no sorts of connection with Gold. Its called Sona because a lady named Sona jumped or suicide from this place... So this is how the name Sona-pani got stuck.

Got a nice view, specially the clouds. But you'll will not be able to view the falls properly but you should visit it once.

The Church is nice and small though. The photos here are almost all do not represent the place really. Sad that they mislead people. Outside the church compound there is a big playground that can be parked if not in used.

I had used services of Meghalaya tour for my 6 days trip to Assam and Meghalaya. The driver was polite, cooperative and punctual. We could cover most of the places as planned. Overall was satisfied with the service
