Designed by Palladio, it features an imposing facade and is considered one of his finest works. The Civic Art Gallery inside showcases original collections of Venetian works of art, including pieces by Tintoretto, Veronese, Sansovino, and others.
A beautifully curated museum housed in a stunning Palladian building that is a work of art in itself. The museum features an impressive collection of Renaissance and Baroque artworks, with a particular focus on the rich artistic heritage of the Veneto region. Among its highlights are masterpieces by renowned artists such as Paolo Veronese, whose vibrant colors and dynamic compositions capture the viewer's attention. The museum also showcases works by Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, known for his grand frescoes and dramatic use of light. Additionally, one can admire pieces from the Vicentine school, providing insight into local artistic development. The museum’s layout allows for a thoughtful exploration of its extensive collection, which includes paintings, sculptures, and decorative arts. Each gallery is thoughtfully arranged, guiding you through the evolution of art in the region while highlighting the unique styles and techniques of various periods. Overall, the Museo is a must-visit for anyone interested in art history, offering a memorable experience that beautifully represents the cultural richness of Vicenza.

Yet another magnificent building from the architectural genius Palladio, originally an aristocrat's palace and now serving as Vicenza's art museum. There is a variety of paintings, sculptures, furniture and objects d'art on display, mostly from the 16th to 18th centuries. Look out for the Picassos, Tintorettos and other big names and the very weird perspectives on the ceiling murals.
Herm D — Google review
The museum has some outstanding paintings commissioned in the last 3 to 4 centuries
Arun D — Google review
Truly beautiful modern museum in a gorgeous building that feels really fresh, even though it has historical paintings on display. Everything is not only in Italian, but also in English. Totally worth buying a ticket.

Incredible place. A Rennaisance Palace designed by Andrea Palladio. It houses the city museum. A World Heritage Site. Worth visiting for its collections, as well as for the building itself.
Stefanos N — Google review
Some nice pieces and was mostly empty when I visited (Tuesday afternoon June). However the staff creepily follow you from room to room to watch you, it really ruins the experience. The sound of them pacing around you with their badges/keys clinking in an otherwise silent environment is very distracting. The rule to wear your backpack on your front is kinda unnecessary, there’s nothing to bump into.
Tass — Google review
Very disappointed, not in the art displayed but the treatment by the employees. Out of the 200 museums/ruin sites/ancient tours we took on our 11 day trip across Italy, this was the worst experience. The staff was extremely rude and harrissed me about my bag repeatedly, yet I watch them ignore others with the same type of small backpack. They litterly followed me from room to room, I even circled around 2 rooms 4 times just to be sure I wasn't being paranoid. But nope he WAS following me just to harass me more about my bag that at that point I'd only been carrying in the way I was instructed by the first staff to mention it. Their reason they said was to protect the art. But they were large open rooms so I'd have to have been purposely walking into the art for my backpack to ever come near ANY of the art. And when it came down to it, they way they had me holding my backpack put the art at much greater risk as it wasn't secured on my back so when I went to take a picture it would swing wildly down my arm coming closer to hitting something. I do not recommend this place to visit nor will I ever go back.

Palazzo Chiericati is probably in the top 3 main attractions in Vicenza (alongside the Teatro Olimpico and the Basilica Palladiana), and for good reasons. The peculiar outer appearance with the deep logias makes for one of the most interesting urban artefacts in the city while, at the interior, the palazzo houses a marvelous collection of art in permanent and temporary exhibitions.

Parco Querini, located in the north-eastern part of Vicenza's old town center, offers a peaceful retreat with its lush greenery and charming features. The park is bordered by the river Bacchiglione and the Astichello tributary, as well as the Venetian walls along Viale Rodolfi. It derives its name from Palazzo Querini and features eighteenth-century statues and sculptures.
Parco Querini is a peaceful green space that enchants with its beautifully maintained paths and charming statuary. Nestled within this tranquil retreat is a picturesque pavilion located on a circular island in a serene manmade lake, providing a romantic setting to unwind. The park is also home to numerous rabbits that add a playful touch to the surroundings. Perfect for leisurely strolls or a relaxing picnic, Parco Querini invites you to immerse yourself in its natural beauty and idyllic ambiance, making it a cherished escape from the bustling historical district of downtown.

We found this place just randomly as we were aimlessly wondering the city. :) I'm glad we stumbled upon this park. It's so peaceful and quiet and the animals which are free hopping around (rabbits, ducks, turtles, nutrias) and swimming in the water (carps swim with their fins outside the water like sharks 🤣) and birds chirping in the trees, bring some relaxing atmosphere and almost "yoga like" status for your mind. If you are stressed out and looking for a way to get stress-free, do visit this park. :) But DO NOT chase, frighten or catch the animals and do not feed them. They have everything they need from nature. Also, please, do not litter around and pick up your trash and your dog's shit after your visit. Do not let your dog from the leash here since he/she can catch some of these innocent animals here. Enjoy your stay. :)

Beautiful park, green area. Lots of bunnies, nutria, ducks. Cozy atmosphere. Perfect to relax. Highly recommended.
Darckghost ( — Google review
This is a large, lovely park, right in the heart of Vicenza, but walled so it’s also quite possible to miss it. Walking in from the smaller gate is spectacular as it opens onto a huge lawn giving to forested areas in the distance. To the right is a small watercourse with a little island, gazebo, hedges and all, unfortunately, the bridge to it was closed but it’s still a nice adjunct to the garden. Funny thing are the animals, both tame bunnies and practically tame “nutria” that are almost considered large water rats in Italy 😂 and are usually quite shy. In reality they are cousins to the beaver and less rat like than I might have thought. Still, I wouldn’t recommend getting too close. I’ll add a couple more photos. The mature trees, lawns and hedges in a grandiose context are typical of what is known as “an Italian garden”! A hidden treasure in the lovely city of Vicenza.
Paul K — Google review
Very nice park for walking. It's not that big but really nice and clean. Lots of animals in wild nature make your walking fun and interesting. It's great to relax sitting under the trees in hot weather.
Irina R — Google review
I had never been to this area of Vicenza before and I was admiring the architecture of the Romanian church next door (wonderful but sadly slightly dilapidated) when I was surprised to see black and white rabbits chewing the rose bushes in the street flower beds. Obviously not wild rabbits but how did they get there? Round the corner was the gate into Parco Querini where the answer was clear. Lots of rabbits everywhere! And pretty tame. Then I saw what looked like beavers in the lake and grabbed the camera thinking they would disappear but they turned round and got out and walked right up to me. They were coypu and when I looked around there were dozens. Coypu are native to South America and England had a population escaped from fur farms that became invasive and damaging and had to be eradicated so I was surprised to see them running free here. They are pretty ugly with big teeth so I stayed clear. There is a lot of birds and animals to see and so the grass was not hygienic to sit on. A good place to walk and look at the church next door.
Herm D — Google review
The park is filled with ducks, coypuses, and rabbits. A very beautiful and peaceful space. Free admission

Even in the rainy weather, it was very pleasant to walk in the park. We saw a lot of hares and coypus.

In the heart of Vicenza's historic old town stands the Chiesa di Santa Corona, a 13th-century Gothic church known for housing a precious relic - a thorn from Christ's Crown of Thorns. The interior boasts remarkable paintings such as Giovanni Bellini's Baptism of Christ and Veronese's Adoration of the Magi. One of its main attractions is the Cappella Valmarana, believed to be designed by renowned architect Andrea Palladio.
Visiting Chiesa di Santa Corona is a captivating experience. This 13th-century Gothic church impresses with its stunning architecture and serene atmosphere, enhanced by beautiful stained glass windows. Notable artworks, including an altarpiece by Paolo Veronese, showcase the region's rich artistic heritage. Conveniently located near other attractions, it’s a perfect stop to soak in history and culture. Overall, Chiesa di Santa Corona is a must-see for anyone in Vicenza, blending beauty, history, and spirituality into a memorable visit.

Inside Santa Corona there are many beautiful elements and historically significant works of art. It is a Roman Catholic church in the Gothic style. The church houses the impressive 16th-century Valmarana Chapel. It is said to have been designed and conceived by the famous architect Andrea Palladio, who was even originally buried here.
Bogdan M — Google review
We took our time enjoying this beautiful church! Such treasures inside! You do need to get tickets at the tourist office, but it was only 3 euros each and so worth it.
Hilda O — Google review
Another "must see" here in Vicenza. The church contains the Valmarana chapel (circa 1576), whose design is attributed to the Renaissance Architect Andrea Palladio. Palladio himself was initially buried in this church. Construction on the church was begun in 1261 to house a thorn from the supposed relic of the crown (corona) of thorns forced on Jesus during his his passion.
Stefanos N — Google review
Santa Corona is a must-see destination for those visiting Vicenza. A beautiful Gothic church from the 13th century. There's an altarpiece added later and depicting the Baptism of Christ. It was created by the famous Giovanni Bellini and that took him two years to accomplish. There are lots of other frescos worth seeing created by famous Italian artists. One particularly fascinating aspect of Santa Corona is the reliquary containing fragments of the True Cross, which is said to have been discovered by St. Helena, mother of Emperor Constantine, during her pilgrimage to the Holy Land. The reliquary is made of silver and gold and is decorated with intricate patterns and images of saints.
Artemiy K — Google review
Nice presbiterium, and they have Bellini's painting "Christ baptism" displayed. However, the ticket office is at 200 meters, and the website is very slow

Included the the Vicenza Card. Very beautiful. Has a small museum in Italian inside.

One of the most beautiful and important church in Vicenza from XIII (used to be dominican convent) with great pieces of art ex. Bellini's Baptise of Christ. Since the church is a state property there is NO FREE ENTRANCE!!! The famous reliquary of the Holy Thorne you may find in Diocese Museum of Vicenza. Both places you can visit with BIGLIETTO UNICO for 15€ that gives you 7 day access to many other museums in Vicenza and Teatro Olimpico. Ticket office is at the entrance to Teatro Olimpico.

Villa la Rotonda is a 16th-century hilltop villa designed by Andrea Palladio, known for hosting cultural and corporate events. It is featured in the Four Books of Architecture as a suburban residence with service rooms in the basement and a grand circular hall on the main floor. The surrounding romantic park offers stunning views of the cultivated land.
Worth a visit especially for architecture students or Americans if you’ve been to Monticello in Virginia. It’s a monument to Palladium design. We walked from Vicenza to a Villa nearby and found a walkway from the Villa Valmarana ai Nani to La Rotunda that was very pretty, much nicer than the roadway we followed to return to Vicenza. They offer a tour only in Italian which we skipped. The docent lectured tour members, had them sitting out on the lawn looking at the facade the entire time we surveyed the villa and its surrounds.

This beautiful house on the hill... Villa La Rotonda Villa La Rotonda, designed by the Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio in the 16th century, is a masterpiece of classical symmetry and proportion. Located near Vicenza, Italy, the villa is famed for its harmonious design, with a perfectly square layout and four identical facades, each with a projecting portico. The central dome, inspired by the Pantheon in Rome, adds a sense of grandeur and spiritual balance. The interior features elegant frescoes and carefully planned spaces that reflect Palladio’s belief in architecture as a reflection of order and reason. Surrounded by gently rolling hills, the setting enhances its serene and monumental presence. More than just a villa, La Rotonda represents a turning point in architectural history—blending classical ideals with Renaissance humanism. It continues to influence architects around the world, making it a must-see for lovers of art, design, and cultural heritage.
Fred S — Google review
The Villa is outstanding but I don’t know who manages the team!? I never have seen so much arrogance and agressivity from the staff (mainly male), starting from the parking gardener to the guys in charge of the Villa. This marvellous place would deserve polite and professional behaviour
Antoine B — Google review
Architectural masterpiece, one of the great private villas by Palladio. Easily reachable from the city centre as there is a walkway and bicycle path. Check the opening times in beforehand as this is private property owned by the same family that originally built it. Luckily public is let to see the building still. The guides were very helpful. The cafeteria down on the park level serves excellent local wines and small snacks.
Ville H — Google review
Amazing Palladian architecture, particularly on the outside. Very helpful staff who are willing to explain if you ask. Inside is a bit of a surprise as it is frescoed. Fair enough it is a family home now but I was expecting it to be as Palladio had initially designed it to be - plain. Only open on certain days and at certain times so check before you go. Parking is nearby (pay and display) but limited. Get there early to find a space. A full visit took about an hour, so not long. I recommend going to the Andrea Palladian museum in Vicenza before you see La Rotunda to get a deeper insight. Inside
Christina C — Google review
Beautiful Palladian villa near Vicenza. Wonderful architecture and stunning frescos. The romantic garden it’s beautiful too during flower blossom. Recommended.
Darckghost ( — Google review
Of all Palladio Villas probably the most famous but staff the least friendly and welcoming in contrast to other sites around Vicenza. Grand building, very beautifully renovated, garden/Park well maintained & impressive. Traffic could be handled better: maybe have one way? And a side walk for pedestrians? Or organize parking differently?
Tina W — Google review
Andrea Palladio's most famous Venetian villa did not disappoint. Built as a country residence for Paolo Almerico, a papal prelate, it was inhabited by 1569. La Rotonda is Palladio's only freestanding centralized pavilion. The dome was modeled on the Pantheon with the oculus being initially open. Still owned by the same family, the villa is in an amazing condition and is situated beautifully among the fields on the outskirts of Vicenza.

The Palladian Basilica, a 16th-century masterpiece designed by the renowned architect Palladio, is a cultural hub in Vicenza. The building underwent renovations in 2012 and is surrounded by grand aristocratic palaces like Loggia del Capitaniato and Palazzo Chiericati. Visitors can explore the nearby Casa Pigafetta and the iconic Rotonda villa, both designed by Palladio.
An architectural marvel that embodies the brilliance of Andrea Palladio; with its striking façade and harmonious proportions, the basilica stands as a testament to Renaissance ingenuity. Inside, visitors are welcomed by elegant arches and massive interior that enhances the building's grandeur. Serving as a vibrant cultural center, it hosts various events and exhibitions that enrich the local community. A visit here is a must for anyone seeking to admire the beauty of classical architecture and experience the heart of Vicenza's rich history.

The hall is just immense, especially the height and considering when it was built. A must-see when in the area. The loggia allows beautiful views over the surrounding area.
Gerald D — Google review
A must see building by the famous Andrea Palladio. There was an interesting exhibition about an architecture prize when we visited. We didn’t find the way to the highest level but the views to the centre were nice already from the first floor.
Ville H — Google review
Impressive Renaissance building by architect Andrea Palladio who did not see its completion in 1614. The double loggia (arched gallery) in white marble wraps around an older Gothic structure from the mid 15th century. It functioned as a court of law and has a marvellous slender and tall clock tower
Seimen B — Google review
Nice, plain architecture with a beautiful terrace looking over the main square of the city. It's a shame that you have to get an additional ticket for different exhibitions to see the inside of the building.
Ahmet K — Google review
We bought the Vincenza pass ( 4 places ) and used it for the Basilica as one of our stop, will worth it, some lovely roof top views and an exhibition too
Brian M — Google review
The Basilica Palladiana is Vicenza’s architectural showstopper—and heck, its best selfie spot. It’s history in haute couture: elegant, bold, and endlessly influential. Marvel at its facades, sip on the rooftop, and let the limestone loggias whisper stories of civic pride and Renaissance flair into your soul. Renaissance done right, darling.
Mira E — Google review
Palladian Basilica is a building that tries very hard to impress. Columns, arches, everything is decorous and noble, just like “an architectural classic for a textbook”. But, to be honest, don’t expect revelations inside: it’s more like a huge stone hint that they once knew how to build beautifully and on a grand scale here. Palladian Basilica is a classic of the genre: architectural grandeur plus a modern bonus in the form of a ticket office at the entrance. Yes, yes, Andrea Palladio probably dreamed that his creation would be perceived centuries later as “another expense item on vacation”. It’s beautiful inside, no doubt, but you feel like you’re not in a temple of architecture, but in a “pay-and-see” museum. As a result, you get a symbiosis: the spirit of the Renaissance and a light aroma of commerce. Well, art also wants to eat.

(Translated by Google) Walking through the center of Vicenza, a few steps from Corso Palladio, you come across Palazzo Thiene, one of the most important buildings in the city. From the outside, it immediately strikes you with its sober elegance: large stone ashlars, regular windows, a solid but refined air. It is one of those buildings that seem to speak softly, but say a lot. The story begins in the sixteenth century, when the powerful Thiene family decided to build a residence that reflected their rank. The first project was entrusted to Giulio Romano, but then Andrea Palladio came on the scene, modifying the structure and leaving his recognizable touch. The result is a building halfway between two styles, a sign of the passage from one era to another. It was never completely completed, but what you see today is enough to tell the greatness of the intent. Inside, there is a calm, almost intimate atmosphere. The rooms on the main floor are decorated with stucco, frescoed ceilings and attention to detail that never feels heavy. You walk between walls that have seen centuries pass by, but everything is carefully maintained. It is easy to imagine life here in the past: rooms full of guests, music, slow conversations. After being a noble residence, the palace passed to the Banco Popolare and was a representative office for years. Today it has returned to the city and can be visited, also thanks to guided tours that help you read what you don't see immediately. Inside it also houses an art collection that ranges from the fifteenth to the twentieth century, with Venetian and Lombard works, antique furniture and precious furnishings. The palace is open from Thursday to Sunday, with paid admission (full price €5, reduced €3, schools €2). The hours are convenient and during the year there are also some extraordinary openings. Visiting Palazzo Thiene means taking a leap into the history of Vicenza, but without feeling distant. It is a place that can be discovered calmly, that offers beauty without raising its voice. And in the end, leaving, you have the feeling of having touched an authentic piece of this city.

Palazzo Barbaran da Porto, located in Vicenza, is a chic museum dedicated to the 16th-century Venetian architect Andrea Palladio. It houses the Palladio Museum and serves as the seat of CISA (International Centre of Architectural Studies). The museum features interactive videos, art displays, and models showcasing Palladio's works. One of his most remarkable creations is the Teatro Olimpico, which leaves visitors in awe.
The museum is very well organized in what is probably one of the most complex urban interventions by Andrea Palladio (the palazzo integrated parts of existing medieval buildings). The models are amazing, and the itinerary is well thought of as to be appealing both to architects and non-architects. The interior courtyard is also astonishing in its scale and details. The staff is very reaponsive and friendly/helpful, and the bookshop has a lot of architecturally specialized books on Palladio's work (something missing from other museuma that happen inside of Palladio's masterpieces.

Interesting palazzo and good models of Palladio's works. However, the lack of chairs in every room is further proof that architects love abstract design concepts almost as much as they hate the comfort of their customers and visitors.
Lorenzo C — Google review
This is a place of pilgrimage for architectural students and in fact a large study group from the USA was formed up outside sketching the facade. The museum does a good job of informing us about the life and works of Palladio. As someone with a background in building conservation and familiar with the Palladian style I still learnt new facts such as how he experimented with plaster and pigments to simulate stone in order to cut costs for his clients. His sidelines in writing and military history were also news to me. There is a lot here to interest both the architectural student and anyone who appreciates classical architecture.

Pleasant museum in a building adapted by Palladio. Many models and several sketches showing his other works. More context please. I would value more information to show Palladio's work in comparison to prevailing architectural trend(s), to help understand what exactly made his work extraordinary then, and continue to be influential today.

Loggia Valmarana, also known as Valmarana Salvi gardens, is a historic site located in Vicenza. Built in 1591 by a student of Andrea Palladio at the request of Gian Luigi Valmarana, it was intended to be a meeting place for intellectuals and academics. The loggia features a stunning facade with arches that can be seen from the adjacent park.
A stunning architectural gem designed by the renowned architect Andrea Palladio in the 16th century. This elegant structure is notable for its harmonious proportions and sophisticated design, embodying the principles of Palladian architecture that emphasize symmetry and classical elements. The loggia features a series of delicate columns and arches that create an inviting space, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Its architectural design reflects both functionality and beauty, serving as a venue for social gatherings and outdoor activities. Loggia Valmarana stands as a testament to the mastery of Palladio and is a prominent example of the Renaissance influence on architecture in northern Italy. There are places that just speak to your soul, and for me, the Loggia Valmarana in Vicenza is one of them. Tucked within the serene Giardini Salvi, nestled against the ancient walls of Porta Castello, it's more than just a structure – it's a living poem. Imagine: built in 1592, rising gracefully from the waters of the Seriola stream. You can almost feel the presence of Leonardo Valmarana, the visionary who commissioned it, transforming this land into a magnificent Italian garden. It’s believed to be the work of a student of the legendary Andrea Palladio, and you can truly see that timeless elegance. This six-column Doric temple, straddling the flowing waters, feels like a sacred space. And just across the way, its perfect counterpart by Baldassare Longhena, added in 1649, creates a harmonious embrace. Standing here, you’re not just looking at architecture; you’re feeling centuries of history, beauty, and human aspiration. It’s a quiet testament to the enduring power of art and nature intertwining. The gentle murmur of the water, the whisper of the trees, the stoic beauty of the stone – it all comes together in a truly moving experience.

(Translated by Google) The loggia 🏛, located at the Salvi Gardens 🌳, is truly splendid; elegant and extraordinarily evocative, it truly seems like the reconstruction of an almost fairytale place 🦄. However, the neglect to which this architectural jewel seems to have fallen victim is evident. If it were located elsewhere, I have no doubt that it would be promoted (and I believe also restored 🏗🧱) in a much more appropriate manner. The Salvi Gardens (access to which is naturally free 🆓️) are in themselves a very relaxing place during the week, but they literally transform on Saturday afternoons; "besieged" by countless teenagers 🧑🏻, often divided into more or less large groups (some with unflattering features almost like baby gangs), they become chaotic and not suitable for a peaceful stroll 🚶🏻‍♂️. I emphasize this because I've been to this park several times 🌳, both on weekdays 🛠 and holidays ✝️, and on one Saturday, I happened to witness a brawl between rival factions that frankly disturbed me. Beyond that, I RECOMMEND 👍 a visit to admire the enchanting Loggia Valmarana. The Catholic Church of San Lorenzo is a large and impressive brick building with an ornate entrance. The inside is filled with beautiful tombs, a 1500 fresco by Bartolomeo Montagna depicting the Beheading of St. Paul, and other impressive statues. It is more impressive than the Cathedral, making it worth visiting if you only have time in Vicenza.
The Church of San Lorenzo (Chiesa di San Lorenzo) is a charming architectural treasure. Its striking façade invites exploration, while the serene interiors boast beautiful frescoes and intricate details that reflect the artistry of its time. The peaceful atmosphere provides a perfect setting for quiet reflection. A visit to this lovely church offers a glimpse into Vicenza's rich history and ecclesiastical art, making it a worthwhile stop for both locals and travelers alike.

The Enduring Soul of San Lorenzo Stepping into Vicenza's Church of San Lorenzo is like entering a profound whisper across centuries. Begun in 1280, this isn't just stone and mortar; it's a living testament to faith, a grand Franciscan heart beating through the ages. Imagine the hands that meticulously blended Cistercian grace with Romanesque strength, crafting a space that feels both earthly and divine. Look upon its gabled façade, where a majestic rose window gazes out, its delicate stone and terracotta details speaking of timeless beauty. Below, seven pointed arches invite you closer, drawing your eye to the magnificent, deeply recessed portal from 1342. Crafted by Andriolo de’ Santi's skilled hands, its lunette tenderly depicts the Madonna and Child, watched over by saints, reminding us of enduring devotion. Inside, beneath soaring, ribbed cross vaults supported by enormous pillars, a sense of awe descends. The grandeur of Gianbattista da Porto's 1661 monument at the entrance sets a solemn tone, preparing you for the treasures within. Here, art from the 1300s to the 1600s unfolds a visual symphony. Feel the weight of history before Bartolomeo Montagna's "Decapitation of Saint Paul," and marvel at the Pojana altar from 1474, a masterpiece where different eras of artistry beautifully converge. In the Chapel of the Most Holy, discover the ancient ark of Giacomo Pagello (1367), a silent echo from Veronese masters. Nearby, the tomb of Giacomo Zanella, Vicenza's esteemed poet, reminds us that even words find eternal rest here, his spirit perhaps lingering near his statue in the piazza outside. Even when war swept through, with Napoleonic troops transforming this sacred space into barracks and a hospital, its spirit endured. Then, in the 19th and early 20th centuries, San Lorenzo rose again, lovingly restored, its ancient Roman road uncovered beneath its very foundations—a powerful reminder that layers of history, both human and divine, lie beneath every step. San Lorenzo isn't just a building; it's a profound journey through time, a place where art, faith, and memory intertwine, touching the soul with its silent, powerful story.

A very nice place, not only for its size and beauty, but also for the peace and quiet it brings. The nicest church that we saw on our trip to Vicenza. Though it is brick built (or at least brick clad on the outside) rather than made of stone it is very impressive both inside and out. Lots of wonderful paintings on the inside and various other statues and the line. To me it is more impressive that the Cathedral, hence if you only have time to visit one, visit this one. Lots of history inside and free to visit/wander around. You can take pictures inside if that is your thing.

The Church dedicated in the name of San Lorenzo in Portovenere, was believed to be built between 1118 and 1130 by the Genoeses. It was erected on the rocky hills at the center of Portovenere as the official cathedral of the colony. The church is such a significant part of the Portovenere's landscape and is definitely worth a visit. The church was consecrated in 1130 by Pope Innocence II. The beautiful art work in the interior of the church is from the 15th –century. The White Madona (Madonna Bianca), miraculous image for whom Portovenere’s citizens have a sacred admiration can be found in the right side Altar. There is a miraculous incident behind this image. And every year on August 17th, there is a great procession carrying the image of the Madonna Bianca to the Portovenere town. During this procession the entire two is illuminated and especially the San Pietro Church in Portovenere is illuminated with thousands of candles.

Unfortunately we booked "Appartamento Francesca" which is one of the apartments offered under the "Book" section of the webiste. It is NOT in the Palazzo. I've just looked at the website again. On close reading, it says that the Palazzo has 7 appartments, then there are a couple more when you go to "Book", but the "more details" do not say much and certainly don't say that "Appartamento Francesca" is the attic of the house two doors away reached over the roof tops. I was so disappointed. I only booked the place because Palladio had worked on the Palazzo and I thought staying in the Palazzo would be interesting. Also the bathroom in Appartamento Francesca was horrible; very small with a shower with 2 nasty shower screens which didn't shut properly and the control was outside them. I booked it partly for the roof top view but we didn't use the terrace. It wasn't very enticing with its corrugated plastic awning. The room was fine. Location cannot be beaten - and the apartments actually in the Palazzo may be great, but I strongly recommend against booking "Appartamento Francesca"

I visited friends who were staying here. Huge apartments in a genuine palazzo. One of the rooms in the building has ceiling frescos and the friendly owner will let you see it if you are a guest. The experience of living in a historic building in the center of Vicenza is exciting. The rooms are clean and quite large. We had only a problem because our room had an electric boiler to heat water. Thinking of taking a shower in five people one by one is sheer madness.

The hotel itself is beautiful and the location is great. However, if you are traveling by car it is not convenient. While the hotel DOES have room for parking cars, they do not allow you to park there. We were actually told we couldn’t even drive on the street to drop off our things because it is on a “pedestrian” street. We later found out this was false as there were many cars driving on it. This was very inconvenient as we had two small children with us and many bags. We did ask about the parking situation multiple times before coming and it was never answered. Ended up having to find paid parking (very expensive) that was a bit of a way from the hotel. If you don’t have a car then obviously that will not be an issue for you. The location itself is great and close to cafes. Another issue with our room was it had an ant problem. Also, this hotel did not provide any soaps/shampoos. You will need to bring/buy everything yourself. Just something to keep in mind if you stay here.

The Cattedrale di Santa Maria Annunciata is a Roman Catholic place of worship located in Vicenza, built during the late 15th century and completed a century later. It features an original Gothic facade made of brick, enveloped by white and red marble that underwent extensive renovations after being damaged during World War II. The iconic cupola was designed by Andrea Palladio, while inside the building you can find a 14th-century triptych created by Lorenzo Veneziano.

Nice Cathedral in the middle of Vicenza, overshadowed by all of the other architectural beauty, and I am sure due to it being reconstructed after the WWII bombings. The Enduring Heart of Vicenza: Duomo di Santa Maria Annunciata Step into the Duomo di Vicenza, Santa Maria Annunciata, and feel time melt away. This isn't just a building; it's a profound narrative etched in stone, an imposing example of Venetian Gothic grace that has witnessed centuries unfold. Imagine its foundation laid in the late 1200s, upon the very soil where a 5th-century early Christian basilica once stood – a direct link to the whispers of ancient faith, visible beneath your very feet. As you gaze upwards at the triumphant figures of the Madonna and Child, flanked by saints, you feel a silent blessing. The cathedral has gracefully absorbed centuries, from its initial Gothic creation to the subtle alterations of the 1400s, holding its form steadfast against the tides of history. Inside, your eyes are drawn forward, down the central nave, to a grand staircase culminating in the magnificent presbytery. Here, the polypitch by Lorenzo Veneziano (1366), with its 29 vibrant panels depicting the Dormition of the Virgin and figures of saints, speaks volumes of devotion and artistic mastery. Every corner of this sacred space is a canvas, adorned with countless works of art spanning from the 14th to the 18th centuries, each whispering stories of faith and human creativity. The grand high altar, a dazzling creation by Giovanni di Giacomo da Porlezza and Girolamo Pittoni da Lumignano (1534-1536), gleams with precious stones and exquisite marbles. It's a testament to the generous spirit of Aurelio Dall’Acqua, and perhaps even an early touch of genius from a young Andrea Palladio, whose name echoes through these hallowed halls. His renowned hand is certainly found in the cathedral's majestic dome (1558-66) and the elegant northern side portal (1563), his architectural soul woven into the very fabric of this spiritual landmark. Beneath the main entrance, in the crypt, lie the silent tributes: the tomb slab of Archdeacon Alberto Fioccardo, a powerful piece attributed to Angelo di Giovanni da Verona, and that of Battista Fioccardo – poignant reminders of Vicenza's 15th-century sculptural heritage. In the seventh chapel on the left, the luxurious funerary monument of Girolamo and Giambattista Galdo (1566-1574) invites contemplation, with its busts, and allegorical figures of Faith, Hope, and Charity—a masterpiece by Alessandro Vittoria. And beneath it all, a newly opened archeological area of 750 square meters reveals layers of time stretching back to 1946, allowing us to walk paths unseen for centuries. The Duomo is more than a church; it's a living, breathing testament to the enduring human spirit, a place where art, history, and profound devotion intertwine, leaving an indelible mark on every soul who crosses its threshold.

A very big cathedral were you cand get some quiet time and admire the architecture. The place is enormous and you have a lot to see especially at the altar and on the sides. There is also some restored and preserved art around

How odd that the relics that represent all that created order in our civilization have become like umbrellas that weigh us down and are doomed to be left behind after the rain has stopped. They say we should remember the horrors of history as to no repeat them - perhaps the e should do our best to recap our achievements and ask for what made them happen. Losing importance in our faith in a God goes hand in hand with losing our faith in Humanity.

The medieval cathedral of Vicenzs is a really nice historical monument. Its pink/white stone patterned facade is astonishing and it is a good example of how dissociated the facades of churches were from the corpus of the church in the middle ages and later on... usually, it was a different project completely. The late gothic/proto-renaidsance facade and the serene interior are very appealing, and very evocative of the vicenza architectural tradition, or "style".

The Museum of Jewelry is a must-see for jewelry enthusiasts, featuring a diverse collection from around the world. While some pieces are wearable, many are extravagant and not intended for everyday use. The museum's focus is solely on jewelry, with only a few paintings and sculptures on display. Visitors should note that English may not be widely spoken by staff. Situated in Vincenza, it offers a detailed presentation of Italian jewelry tradition and provides an enriching experience for beginners and experts alike.
Jewellery dreams do come true—at Vicenza’s Museo del Gioiello. Tucked inside the stunning Basilica Palladiana, this museum may be small, but it’s absolutely packed with sparkle, style, and storytelling. Each room is themed like a curated runway—blending history, design, and innovation into one glittering experience. From ancient devotional pieces to futuristic 3D-printed rings, the collection is a masterclass in Italian artistry. It’s not just a walk through time—it’s a walk through craftsmanship, culture, and pure creative magic. Whether you’re into fashion, history, or just love things that shine, this place is a total gem. A must-visit in Vicenza. 10/10. Would sparkle again
Mira E — Google review
It's cute and nice to look at, but it's also really small (just four rooms, really), and I'm not sure it's worth the money. And if you're a true jewelry enthusiast, I don't think it's gonna give much to you either, as the information there seems rather basic. There is also info in English.
Kristýna V — Google review
The building that houses the Italian jewelry exhibition is very beautiful. My wife and I took our time and paid a visit to some historical buildings beforehand. As elsewhere in Italy and the world, the entrance fee is often completely inappropriate or too high for what you see. So we decided to skip the interior despite the exceptional exterior of the building. The Italian Jewels exhibition, curated by Alba Cappellieri, is spread over 9 rooms and a selection of curators who present a completely Italian selection dedicated to the production of both large fashion houses and small and medium-sized companies from the territory's jewelry districts, the excellence of craftsmanship, artistic experimentation and the search for independent designers.

Staying in Vincenza and have not visiting in Jewelry Museum is a big mistake. This is cameral place but all done with detailing so important when we talking about jewelry presentation. Fantastic experience. Especially I recommend to visit it during VicenzaOro trade fairs as a complement stay in this city (extra discount for VincenzaOro participants). Few photos to show You a little bit of this nice museum.

Very beautiful museum! They have things from all over. While some of the jewelry can definitely be worn, much of it is either too extravagant or not designed to be worn. It's without a doubt a must see for people who love jewelry. If you prefer paintings and sculptures then you'll be disappointed. They may have a few, but they're small in number. They don't really speak any English either so keep that in mind when you go.

Salvi Gardens Vicenza is a charming and peaceful park located just outside the old town gate, Porta Castello. It features a duck pond where visitors can admire the ducks and their ducklings, although feeding them is not allowed. The park also boasts a beautiful rose garden and statues that add to its serene atmosphere. Additionally, it houses the Palladian Loggia Valmarana, which is reflected in the nearby waters, creating a picturesque scene.
After being lodged into the train from Padova to Vicenza like a sardine in extreme heat, coming out of the station I just wanted to find shade. After walking for a bit this was the best introduction to the city, beautiful statues, seats architecture and it was pretty clean after having my lunch under a bountiful shade of a tall and big tree I walked around a bit, seeing a bit of the local life , old and young couples, pretty songs by birds and some by the locals through their speakers, I sort of fell into the magic of Vicenza right away, a tranquil and lovely town.
Susana E — Google review
Salvi Gardens showcased a beautifully landscaped environment that combined historical elegance with lush greenery. The garden features well-maintained pathways, vibrant flowerbeds, and shaded areas that provide a perfect setting for leisurely strolls or quiet reflection. Visitors can appreciate the rich biodiversity, including various plants and trees, while enjoying picturesque views of the surrounding architecture. It's an ideal spot for both locals and tourists looking to relax away from the city's hustle. Overall, it's a charming oasis that highlights the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Vincenza.
E P — Google review
More than just a garden, Salvi Gardens in Vicenza is a whispered echo of centuries past. Stepping into this serene haven, designed by the masterful Palladio, feels like a gentle embrace from history itself. Every path, every ancient tree, tells a story of beauty, resilience, and the enduring power of nature. Come, find your peace amidst its timeless charm.

Giardino Salvi is Vicenza’s secret party between architecture and greenery. Small in size but big on vibes—two Palladian lounges, water whispers, floral charisma, and paths so smooth you float. It’s history, accessibility, and modern glow-up wrapped into one charming oasis. When fashion meets foliage, this is the place to slay your chill.
Mira E — Google review
On its own, the place is beautiful, but I felt super unsafe there and had a few unpleasant encounters. It definitely wasn't possible for me to just sit down there and relax without being assaulted - even at 10 am. That's a thing Vicenza as whole has quite a problem with.

The Museo di Santa Corona is an archaeological museum that holds historical significance as the original burial site of Andrea Palladio. However, its main claim to fame lies in housing a thorn from the crown of thorns worn by Jesus. This precious artifact was gifted by Louis IX of France to Bishop Bartolomeo di Breganze. The museum is divided into two sections, one dedicated to natural history and the other showcasing various exhibits.

The museum offers a captivating blend of natural history and archaeology. Set in a historic building, it features an extensive collection of artifacts that span from prehistory to the Roman era. The exhibits are well-curated, providing an excellent overview of local flora and fauna, alongside a significant assortment of archaeological objects that narrate the region's history. Additionally, the museum serves as a great starting point for anyone wishing to explore the history and culture of Vicenza. A visit is highly recommended for families and anyone interested in history and nature alike.

(Translated by Google) The tower was built in the 12th century by the Maltraversi (at the western entrance to the city). It was later expanded and during the Scaligera occupation it was part of the medieval city walls (surrounded by a moat). In 1404 with the government of the Serenissima, the castle returned to its military role. In the 17th century, no longer needing a defensive tower, it was sold to the Valmarana family. The first major intervention took place in the 1990s, when it was purchased by the architect Pozzato to make it a home-studio. In 2018 it was sold to the Coppola Foundation which set up the space to host a museum itinerary, developed in height along the walls of the tower. From the top level (41m high) there is a wonderful view of the city center.

In the 12th century, the Maltraversi family commissioned the construction of the watchtower at the western entrance to the city walls of Vicenza. A little later, under Antonio and Mastino II della Scala, a castle was built surrounded by a moat. The crenellated crown and the upper lantern were added during the reign of the Visconti. Unfortunately we didn't get to 41m. high viewing level, opening hours only on weekends. The Olympic Theater, also known as Teatro Olimpico, is a historic landmark in Vicenza, Europe's first covered theater built in the 16th century. Commissioned by the Olympic Academy, it was designed to host performances and intellectual debates. The theater consists of three rooms with impressive frescoes dating back to 1647 and original oil lamps from 1585 on display.
A stunning architectural marvel and the oldest surviving Renaissance theatre in the world. Designed by Andrea Palladio, its intricate facade and impressive perspective scenery create a breathtaking atmosphere that transports visitors back in time. The interior is equally enchanting, with beautifully crafted details that showcase the artistry of the era. However, it's important to note that access to the stage and background is not included with the ticket purchase, which may disappoint some visitors eager to explore beyond the audience experience. Nonetheless, the theatre's historical significance and aesthetic appeal make it a must-visit for anyone interested in architecture and the performing arts.
E P — Google review
Very impressive theater. The tour through the museum lasts about 15-30 minutes depending on how much you want to read. If there’s a concert or something similar while you’re staying in Vicenza, I recommend booking a ticket to experience the theater in action. During summer it’s very hot (there‘s no AC).
Celina B — Google review
We saw a Bach concert that suited this Andrea Palladio masterpiece theatre very well. As it’s a protected building only few changes have been made and we didn’t see any bar, but didn’t miss it either as there was no intermission. The seats are quite uncomfortable but acceptable in a heritage building like this one. The play with spatial illusions makes the scene very dramatic and special.
Ville H — Google review
It may be over 400 years old but the Teatro Olimpico remains stunning and immensely practical. The stage set including the streets laid out in perfect perspective must have added to the theatrical experience and captivated and enthralled audiences. You can't go on the stage so you have to make do with a scale model made from Lego to appreciate the technique. Pure genius from the master classical architect Palladio. We bought the Vicenza Silver Card for free admission to four of the top tourist sites. This is one of the best.
Herm D — Google review
Exceptional. The fact that the theatre exists largely as-is from the 16th century and the visual effect of the theater backdrop simulating loooong streets leave one stare in awe. If in the area, a must-see!
Gerald D — Google review
All of Vicenza is beautiful and one of our favourite places in Italy. But this theatre... Is... AMAZING! Yes it's not very big, but if you get your tickets as part of a multi attraction pass it is very cheap. The theatre itself is incredible and has the original set pieces from its creation which make an optical illusion. There is a free audio guide which gives a great insight. No photo can do it justice. The seats are original wood from the 1500's... So be careful of catching your pants on a nail or splinter. Also. You will NEED to use the small stairs, on either end or the centre to move up and down the seating. The staff get very upset about you stomping down the seating given its age.

Small but we'll organized museum (~5 rooms + external exhibition of cannons). It's free to enter but slightly out of vicenza, so I would recommend it to fans of war history. It contains information about the unification of Italy, world wars 1 and 2 (so about 1850 to 1950), including maps, paintings, weapons (mostly swords and guns) and clothing. Information is only in Italian. The complete visit lasts about an hour, if you want to study everything. Half an hour is enough if you are just looking at the content. Beautiful and peaceful little park. Great for kids, you can bring your dog, have a picnic, watch several bird species. Run by awesome volunteers, only open Sat and Sun. 5€ entrance fee.

As far as we could see from the closed gate (only open Saturday Sunday) very nice. But it's a hardcore mosquito experience if the little animals like you, my wife had 20 bites at the entrance gate within a few minutes. (Me none)

(Translated by Google) Small, but very well kept. Where there is nature, needless to say, the landscapes are always wonderful. The new entrance is from via Zamehof (in front of ARPAV) with a very large car park. After a few hundred meters already immersed in nature you reach the ticket office: minimum bid €5. From there a route begins between reeds, woods, marshes... all really beautiful. Possibility of bird-watching for the most demanding, from hides.

(Translated by Google) The Oratory of San Nicola da Tolentino is a sanctuous oratory adorned with a profusion of paintings by Maffei, Carpioni, Zanchi and other minor ones, within sumptuous stucco panels by Rinaldo Viseto and with statues by Francesco Pozzo. This building is the ideal place to grasp the aspects of 17th century Vicenza art by observing the singular contrast between the simplicity of the external structures and the richness of the interior in which pictorial decoration, floor, stucco, ceiling statues are the original ones. The interior surprises with its fantastic exuberance and exceptional inventiveness! (Translated by Google) From Piazza dei Signori it is a matter of a short but satisfying detour: after crossing the San Michele bridge, with a picturesque view of the Retrone river, you reach the oratory of San Nicola, a seventeenth-eighteenth century building as sober on the façade as it is rich in art on the inside. internal. At the main altar, in particular, the altarpiece of the Trinity by Francesco Maffei (1605 -1660), one of the greatest painters of the period, stands out. To visit, upon request, contact the secretary of the Diocesan Museum. NB. In the middle there is a small picnic area with four/five wooden tables. In addition to vegetable gardens, granted by the municipality, created by people who care about the place. Being an oasis, the trunks are left to rot to create new habitats for insects, they are now part of the path. The walkway unusable with rotten boards, it is part of the little maintenance that the Municipality does for the Oasis. The guardian or the associations are not enough, but for the safety of the people who use it, interventions should be carried out shortly. Therefore, remember to be careful when proceeding because it is a wild area..
