Carlisle Castle, situated in northern Cumbria, is a formidable 12th-century fortress and former prison that now houses a regimental museum and showcases Roman artifacts. The castle's history intertwines with the captivating tales of Mary, Queen of Scots, who was held captive there by her cousin Queen Elizabeth I. Visitors can explore the site where she was imprisoned and even walk along Ladys Walk, where she once strolled under the watchful eye of Sir Francis Knollys.
Large intact castle dating from 11th and 12th centuries with a huge amount of history attached. There is much to see, museum, castle keep and just walking around the walls. There is a nice reasonably priced cafe. It is well worth a visit if you are in the area. There is plenty of reasonably priced parking in the adjacent car park
Alan H — Google review
A really interesting castle and the most iconic site in Carlisle. This is a must visit site when in the city and entry also includes access to the military museum housed on site. There are lots of areas to explore within the castle including well preserved structures.
Matt H — Google review
The Castle is very impressive and the staff were absolutely passionate and knowledgeable. They gave great insights and getting the guide book made it easier to know where you were and find out more about each venue. The added bonus of the war museum showed great history as well. Definitely worth a visit and £15 to get in was not bad.
Warren S — Google review
I had decided to have a bit of a wounder in and around town, the castle, Tullie house then get something to eat before head home. Had an explore around the castle witch was fun or it was rather empty I was expecting more things in the rooms. But saying g that it was still worth the money decided recommend to everyone.

Every time we come home, we visit and find something we didn't notice the last time. Staff here are extremely knowledgeable and I recommend doing the tour! Carlisle has some of the most interesting history through all ages in time.
Ryan M — Google review
We visited on a Saturday around 12pm and it was not busy, we were able to book tickets online and we were admitted quickly. The site has a lot of history and you can access the military museum as well as a fascinating keep. There are facilities including a cafe and gift shop.
The M — Google review
Fantastic castle, just on the outskirts of Carlisle town centre. There are many rooms, floors, and wall walks to explore with great views of the surrounding area. Huge carpark just outside chargeable but something like £3 for the day. Small gift shop and cafe on site also.
Steven M — Google review
Stunning piece of history. Today we had 2 trainee tour guides, they both knew their history and facts about the every facet of the Castle's history; however, one was slightly softer spoken and tolds us about the armoury and testing gas masks & was kind enough to invite us on tour of the dungeons with a larger group, when he really didn't need to. (Only wish I had asked this kind gentlemans name). Easy to park. Limited access for disabled, but still enough to soak in the history. (Even if upstairs is off limits) Cobbled stones in areas. A little cafe, limited allergy options, but cold drinks and ice cream.

Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery is a diverse museum featuring historic relics, weaponry, fine art, and natural sciences. The museum has recently refurbished two permanent galleries to showcase its nationally important collection of Pre-Raphaelite art. Visitors can explore Carlisle and Border history as well as the area's natural history on the first floor Border Galleries. Tullie House also boasts beautiful gardens with a variety of herbaceous plants, shrubs, and bushes that are meticulously maintained by the gardening team.
What a superb museum. So many interesting displays that we ended up having to call time due to our brains being overloaded. The Roman exhibition is very well put together, as is the story of the city through the ages. Definitely worth a visit
Mick O — Google review
Excellent museum, the dinosaur exibit very well laid out and informative. Plenty of space inside for wheelchairs users. Recommend to buy the annual pass as there is loads to see.
H D — Google review
Tullie House has always been my favourite museum in the North West- Rich in local and Border History, Tullie House never fails to impress. Their limited time exhibitions are always presented to a very high standard, and I recently visited the rEvolution Dinosaur exhibit, which was a solid 10/10. The Tullie refurbishment makes the building look fresh and new.
Alesha E — Google review
Attractive local museum which has recently undergone an extensive refurbishment. Nice cafe and arts and crafts related talks are sometimes held. Cafe gave a positive impression, did not consume anything there. Only looked at some free displays, some impressive artefacts like a prehistoric gold bangle and a large key to one of the old city gates. Attractive tiled stairway, mosaic floor and bannister with coats of arms
Hannah W — Google review
The kids absolutely loved it. It is so changed since I have been there. The exhibitions were great and the Dino exhibit was really interesting.

It’s our second visit to Tullie Gallery this year – and once again, the exhibition left us truly impressed! 🎨😍✨ There’s something about this place that keeps calling us back… always inspiring, always worth it. 💫🖼️ If you’re ever in Carlisle, don’t miss it! 📍👀 #TullieGallery #ArtVibes #CarlisleCulture #GalleryLove 💕🎭
Babs B — Google review
The extra exhibition of dinosaur world is interesting and informational. However, at the lower floor of Roman exhibition was disappointing. For example, my young grandson was spelling out a name, that required a ,"u" after helping to search, no u's , so I spoke to assistant, apparently, no U's. This does not take into consideration, that our children learn phonetically, having a letter missing, is annoying. The rest of our explore was fine.
Penny P — Google review
Recently opened exhibition Dinosaur rEvolution is well worth visiting. Great fun for a family and people of all ages. New discoveries about dinosaurs led to the new way of thinking about how they looked and how they lived. It is bright, it is interactive, it is informational, and it is fun.

Carlisle Cathedral, a small cathedral with free entry, offers a glimpse into 15th-century art and stained glass, as well as treasury exhibits. Situated within walking distance of Carlisle Castle and other historical attractions, the cathedral is part of the city's rich history. The castle itself boasts a Norman keep dating back to 1092 and houses Cumbria's Museum of Military Life.
A beautiful but small and modest cathedral church. A lovely homely feeling, and a magnificent awesome east window spanning nine lights. The cathedral ceiling in the choir and sanctuary are also most definitely worth seeing, decorated with beautiful guilded angels. Very welcoming and most definitely worth a visit If you are ever in Carlisle City or the surrounding area.
Daryl W — Google review
A spectacular old cathedral in the northeast corner of England. It is a personal favorite and I would recommend a visit. Begin in 1123 in the Norman style, it was built with local red sandstone. Much of the church was rebuilt in the 13th century in the Gothic style. The ceiling is spectacular. Owen Jones designed and specified the painted star ceiling in Carlisle Cathedral’s choir during its 1856 restoration under architect Ewan Christian. The wooden barrel vault dates to the 14th century, but the medieval scheme was lost, and Jones—a prominent Victorian decorative artist known for his work on the Crystal Palace interiors—created the blue background with gold stars and angels, drawing from historical styles. It was later repainted in 1970 for preservation, maintaining Jones’s original vision. The east window is impressive. It is the largest and most complex such window in England at 51’ by 26’. It depicts events from the life of Christ; some of the panes in the upper portion are original, dating back to 1350. Parking in the area is good. There are several car parks within half a mile.
Shane G — Google review
So nice to be able to wander around with the dog. It’s a beautiful cathedral with some unique points of interest, including the ceiling. Perhaps not the most impressive in the country but it holds its own. The grounds are also very pleasant.
Marques — Google review
I visited the cathedral on June 2nd and was warmly welcomed by the kindest staff. Two gentlemen offered me a map, pointed out the must-see spots, and shared a timetable. They also noticed that my friend had stayed outside with his dog and proactively let me know that dogs are allowed inside. That thoughtful gesture really stood out. It was heartwarming to see how genuinely kind and attentive they were. And the cathedral itself? Absolutely stunning. Truly worth a visit!
Patricia P — Google review
Very old and interesting. The stain glass windows are in very good shape considering the age. The organ pipes along with the organ itself are really worth the visit. There are lots of buildings on the site which you can look around the library is interesting the entrance to which is through the cafe, the cafe has a large area outside and quite a large area inside the food is good. Would recommend trip here.

Today, accompanied by both my sons and grandmas, we spent a truly memorable two hours at Carlisle Cathedral—an experience that was both calming and profoundly awe-inspiring. The cathedral’s serene atmosphere speaks volumes beyond words, inviting quiet reflection within its historic, hallowed walls. We were fortunate to be greeted by a highly knowledgeable guide who kindly provided us with a detailed map and patiently answered all our questions, enriching our visit immeasurably. Although the organ wasn’t playing this week due to half-term, which was a slight disappointment, it gave us an opportunity to treasure the visual and spiritual grandeur of the space even more deeply. We took the chance to purchase a CD of the cathedral’s magnificent organ music, promising to carry a piece of the experience home with us. Carlisle Cathedral, with its timeless beauty and thoughtful stewardship, is a gem that left us inspired and grateful—a place to revisit time and again with loved ones.
Alexandra K — Google review
Magnificent, pocket sized, deep-red sandstone cathedral, with a magical painted ceiling that will give you neckache for the time you will want to keep marvelling at it. It’s a small building with a pretty cloister, not really something you’d spend more than half an hour poking around, but if you’re in Carlisle, it’s definitely worth going out of your way to go and see this. Check opening times though, it isn’t always open. And maybe help support the cathedral by having a bite to eat at the cathedral cafe, as in the UK, this really is one of a kind - painted ceilings like this are what you see occasionally in France, but very rare in the UK. I remember being blown away the first time I saw it, I’d never seen anything of the kind before. Quiet, rarely many people, you’ll generally have the place to yourself.
Gordon D — Google review
Stunning cathedral…. Unfortunately we only managed to get a glimpse as it was graduation day and the ceremony was on. Lots of work going on in Carlisle which will only enhance the town more. Lots of shops, the centre is quite big with major dept stores. Lots of eateries and pubs, spoilt for choice really.

Nestled within the historic Carlisle Castle, Cumbria's Museum of Military Life offers a captivating journey through the military history of the region. From 18th-century soldiers to present-day regiments, the museum presents an immersive experience with a diverse collection of artifacts, including uniforms, medals, weapons, and silver. Visitors can explore interactive displays and even step into a recreated First World War trench environment.
It is a fascinating museum of the British empire and military might and a reminder of how mankind can't live in peace without violence. This museum is located inside Carlisle Castle. Disabled blue badge parking is available inside the castle if you drive through the main entrance, which is barrier controlled. The entrance is a wide pull door, and the museum is big enough for a wheelchair or scooter. There is a cafe and gift shop inside. You can get a joint ticket if you want to explore the castle grounds.

When English members have benefit to have free entry then why not. Let me enjoy. Excellent military based museum and well worth to have a look. Very well laid out with great displays and informative. Good location next to castle and inside the castle boundary. So why not try when you already visiting the Castle.
Win T — Google review
Impressed by the displays and curation of this museum that I hadn’t been planning to visit on my trip to Carlisle Castle. Despite the English Heritage website suggesting dogs aren’t allowed inside, they very much are.
Marques — Google review
Well I hadn't expected to enjoy this little museum as much as I did. Well displayed, well informed boards, and part of the castles admission fee. Cafe and toilets on the premises, plus a little well priced gift area. Some interesting displays, definitely worth a visit if in the castle area.

Visited Cumbria’s Museum of Military Life with my husband - and let’s just say, I’ve never seen him so excited to look at uniforms and old weapons 😂🎖️🪖 Located right next to Carlisle Castle, this museum is packed with stories of courage, discipline, and the kind of historical drama that makes you say, “Wait, that really happened?!” The exhibitions take you through over 300 years of military history - from the 18th century to modern missions. It was fascinating to learn about the local regiment’s role in world events - all brought to life with photos, films, and hands-on displays. Even if you’re not a military buff, it’s impossible not to get drawn in (and let's be honest, those vintage army hats are pretty fabulous 🎩😂).

A really interesting military museum with some informative and interesting displays and exhibits. This truly shows the history of Carlisle and is well worth visiting when at the castle.

A small military museum in Carlisle Castle which mainly tells the story of the Border Regiment. Despite being small there's an excellent collection which is beautifully displayed, including uniforms, weapons and regimental silver. Admission is included with Carlisle Castle entry, making a visit to the castle good value.

Walby Farm Park, located just 4 miles from Carlisle and the M6 motorway (J44), offers a fun-filled day out for families. The park features various animal breeds like alpacas, deer, and donkeys, as well as activities such as mini quad biking and ferret races. With Cumbria's largest indoor play area and safe quad bike and mini tractor training for kids, there's something for everyone.
Great value for money, and kids had lots of fun!!!!! Visited Walby farm on a wet and windy day and have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The reception staff were very welcoming and helped to explain where to find everything. We didn't venture outside due to the weather but managed to fill hours of time. The whole park was clean, including the indoor play areas. The animals were very friendly and there were good hand washing facilities for when leaving the barn area. The soft play is big enough for the kids to really burn off some energy, and the layout means that they can't disappear without getting past their parents. The wooden indoor play area looked fairly new. It is very well designed and my kids tell me it was great fun, they'd just like more balls for the air blasters.... We had lunch here and it was actually very good! The kids' meals were large enough for bigger, more hungry kids.

Went to Walby Farm Park whilst on holiday to do some pumpkin picking and had a great day. Was a group of friends, lots to do like the tractor ride, seeing the animals and playing games. The pumpkins were incredibly well priced and well displayed and we thoroughly enjoyed the pumpkin slingshots! The staff were also really lovely and accommodating especially on the tractor ride! Great day/morning out

We came here as a pit stop on our way to see family in Northumberland. And wow impressed - the was so much to do and the fact that they had a halloween pumpkin event on, that you can pick your own pumpkin in the field, 1 pumpkin for each child was included into the ticket price no matter how big! And can also carve them there and then! Outdoor play areas and we'll as indoor, Plenty of seating and can order food. This was well worth the money and love how friendly it all was! Will definitely come back and different time of the year!
Victoria B — Google review
Great for kids. Adults pay almost as much. Fun attractions, most of them at no extra costs. The barrel train behind the quad was a hit. Tip: Get one adult to accompany the kids and have a nap in the car.

We visited from Derbyshire while on holiday, for my little boys 4th birthday. Despite it being a coldish Oct day, this place was great! Loads to do both inside and out with things to suit both my farm mad youngest and the older kids (aged 5, 9 and 13) in our group! The food was lovely, better quality than we have had at other, similar places. All the staff were friendly and helpful, especially Jackson who seemed to be everywhere! All in all a great experience and good value for money!
Kate B — Google review
Another fun day out with the family spending time with all the animals and playing indoors and out. We've always gone during the week and its been quiet each time which we find perfect for our young child. The play areas are fantastic with areas for each age range and we love spending time in the barn. The cafe has a large variety of tasty options, the malteaser slice is a favourite of ours. The staff are friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. There's plenty to do regardless of that famous Cumbrian weather and we can't wait to come back time and time again.
Alexandra H — Google review
Walby Park Farm is a fantastic day out for families, offering a wide range of activities that kept the children engaged all day. The only slight drawback was the lack of direct animal feeding opportunities, which are often a highlight at similar attractions. Overall, an excellent experience.
Invision C — Google review
A great place with lots to do inside and out for a range of ages from very little ones to older pre teens. The cafe service is friendly but very slow even just for a coffee. A well thought out design of space, as the parents/ carers can sit and chat and easily see their children.

Coffee great kids love it but hey it needs a deep clean and a regular cleaner. First in on a morning at 10 am and crumbs every where on sofas. . It is minging.for the price they charge it’s bad.

Probably for the festive season they have decided to cram more tables & chairs together, you can’t move through the seated area without asking someone to pull in their chair. The tables are not toddler friendly with 90 degree corners on them. The management needs to have a rethink & put child safety 1st followed by customer comfort.

Had our son's birthday party here yesterday. It was super easy to organise. You pay a £30 deposit when booking. Staff were great and professional. The party room was nicely decorated and clean too. You can bring your own food if you like which is a nice touch. Or you can purchase hot dogs. Party cost was £10 per child and included 2 hours play, use of the party room and unlimited juice. We also had half an hour before to set up which is handy. We had reserved tables in the soft play area for parents which was handy. Highly recommend. Thank you.

The Old Fire Station in Carlisle is a popular venue known for its intimate atmosphere and diverse entertainment offerings. Housed in a century-old fire station, it has gained a strong reputation for hosting live music, comedy shows, theater performances, and exhibitions. Following its refurbishment in 2015, the venue now boasts excellent facilities including a bar, cloakroom, and clean restrooms. Its convenient location near the city center makes it easily accessible from the train station and bus stops.
I’m writing this review from the perspective of the band that plays here. We gig twice every weekend, all over the UK in Europe. We’ve just done our second date at the fire station from the moment we arrive. Everything was made easy for us. It’s not like that everywhere we go as a result we take with us a very professional system, all done so that we can set up as easier as we can. The old fire station has exactly the same attitude. The owner, will, is one of the most professional men I’ve ever met staff are exceptionally friendly. Then there’s the engineers, who are always friendly knowledgeable extremely easy to get on with and work with what you’ve sent them, tuning the system for the gig. Backstage is spacious comfortable and unlike many places is geared towards letting the band relax get everything sorted out they need to before they go on stage. They even had towels for artists something major chains don’t have. It’s a straight up five star review.
Keith T — Google review
Great venue with great sound too. Standing only bit this only adds to the atmosphere. Beer was also good value for money. Only around 5 mins walk from the bus station. 10 from the train station. Definitely worth another visit
Carl R — Google review
Nice small venue on the periphery of the city, plenty of parking spaces, free on street parking after 7pm, car park across from the front door charges 24/7 but but not that expensive. There is a large bar as you go in which is opened up early, so you don't need to queue in the rain! I was down to see Dutch rockers FOCUS, it was unallocated seating, not sure if it is always the case, I managed to get a front row seat, there was a gap between seat and stage so you're not pressed up to the stage, the sound quality was excellent, someone must have told the sound engineer that there are mid and high frequencies. - it's not all about the bass! Focus were brilliant. The toilets were clean, staff friendly. The only slight negative was the light rig, had a bright white light shining into my face all night, don't know why lights are positioned behind the band facing out into the audience. As this venue is only about a two hour drive I hope to visit it again.

An excellent venue for shows and live music. I've been, a few times, to see bands and comedy acts. Up front and personal. Bar, at the side of the hall, is a good size and service is always quick. Good selection of drinks, all served in plastic for safety reasons. Parking opposite and 100 m from a local bus stop. Bus station is only about 700 m walk.

Food - 3/5 Ambiance - 3/5 Accessibility - 5/5 Cost - 4/5 Service - 4/5 Summary - 4/5 Once a fire station for Carlisle, it is now an arts and entertainment venue. When I visited, part of the ground floor area was sectioned off and a baby 'disco' was being held! Besides the function area, the ground floor also holds the box office and the McGrew's restaurant where I stopped for lunch. The Hunter chicken burger was okay; good portion, reasonable price. Upstairs, there are more functions rooms and also the Carlisle Contemporary Art gallery (free to visit). Tip: Visit the website and read about the history of the place. Overall, it's a good place, well maintained/staffed and seems like a decent venue for various activities. The history side to the fire station is also interesting!

The church, which is dedicated to St Cuthbert and built in 1778-79, is one of the oldest and most notable buildings in Carlisle. It has a large, moveable pulpit and is used as the church hall.
A nice quiet Church, like it was really quiet and my entire time spent in there I saw absolutely no one inside, but the doors were open which allowed you inside and look around. It is nicely decorative and a really calm place during my visit.

An interesting piece of architecture with some pleasant green space surrounding it. It is interesting to see when exploring the area.

We were delighted to find this quiet church open. This Georgian building has a wonderful, peaceful atmosphere. Apparently, it was built upon the site of the oldest place of worship in Carlisle. It is well worth a visit and is close to the Cathedral.

I have been extremely lucky to have been given permission to take photos in this very old and very well presented church. As soon as you walk into the church it is breathtaking.

It's no wonder that churches are losing attendees... when you're in a bad place and all you want is reassuring... Then get told we have something on...
Pete K — Google review
I was enchanted by this beautiful church hidden away down a narrow lane behind the shopping area. Not spectacular from the outside but once inside it had a profound effect on me. I sat in awe and took in the ambience of the clear, ,bright and simple interior. Of all the many churches and cathedrals that I have visited I would put this one near the top of the list.. So glad to have found this gem on a brief journey through Carlisle, I look forward to returning and finding peace there again.

A lovely church in the city centre of Carlisle. When I visited the church was open and you could look around the inside. Lovely church with some stained glass and plaques dedicated to various people. Well worth a visit if you are in the city centre and have some time to spare.

Beautiful church. If at all possible I attend holy communion. Considering our vicar works extremely long hours with two churches to run aswell as his other his other multiple responsibilities he is a gentlemen who never fails to greet you with a smile.

The Sands Centre is a top destination in Cumbria for live entertainment, fitness, and sports. With over 735,000 visitors annually, it hosts a diverse range of shows including theatre performances, comedy acts, musicals from the West End, international orchestras, pop artists, ballet and opera. The venue also offers excellent fitness facilities including swimming and gym amenities.
nice clean spacious gym, with techno gym equipment, a reasonable selection of plate loaded equipment, and pin loaded equipment, good amount of benches and dumbbells, squat rack, cable machines, modern cardio equipment. Also good selection of classes, pool and squat courts.
Mark F — Google review
The Sands Centre is part Entertainment district and part Leisure centre. I used the pools, although they have a gym, squash courts, a cafe and more. The pool was great. They had separate ares for kids swimming lessons (which seems to be for schools during the day). There was lane swims set up with clear markers about the lane speed expected and the direction of swimming. The change room facilities were good. There are lockers (you'll need to have a £1 coin or a coin token to use them) that come in a range of sizes. There are showers, and toilets blocks inside the change rooms. There is a great collection of different sized stalls for changing clothes and a few for people with babies. It is really well thought out. I got a casual lane swim ticket. Which also covered the cost of my parking (they have a machine that you can type your registration number into that means your car is covered for a set amount of time). Make sure you double check how long you are allowed to stay, as its only short term parking you get with your swimticket. I really enjoyed my experience there. Thanks!
Dandy M — Google review
Absolutely FAB place group we saw was called 'Money For Nothing ' they really were fantastic. The stage and seating area are a great size, seats comfy. Light and sound effects were out of this world. Can't wait to go back there.
Shereeen W — Google review
Have cancelled my membership , it's just got more and more expensive, now double the price of many other gyms in the area and open half as much. Also forced to use an awful app that is often wrong and when there is an issue you can't call the centre to sort out you ring a national number who tell you to travel to the centre. Have tickets to see a show in February but there is 0 chance of this happening as no work has been done on that part of the facility in the past 6 months although still advertising shows and taking people's money.
Niall M — Google review
Shockingly bad customer service and a massive wait to even talk to them. I asked her if I could make a comment about my experience and then she just spoke over me. You record these calls look back aug 7th 12.01 I will not use the sands again and am going to cancel my theatre tickets that you sold me then told me you needed to rearrange. What happened to grabbing your swim stuff and going? RUDE RUDE RUDE

My first ever visit to The Sands Centre. So I absolutely forgive the disruption caused by the post flooding refurbishment, it's a massive project. The outdoor bar staff were fabulously, cheerful and helpful, as too were the staff guiding us to our seats, and the wonderful security staff. There were a number of portaloos as well as more permanent toilet facilities in good condition. Beyond this I was truly disappointed with the venue. This was a bucket list concert on my doorstep, Paul Weller. The acoustics were awful, lots of feedback, and very base heavy. We chose West Gallery seating where we couldn't even here Paul Weller introducing the song he was about to sing, the seating didn't face the stage either. I'd chosen seating due to a spinal injury, so sitting at a weird angle on my allocated seat was painful. I ended up standing, which must have been a relief to everyone else on the row as apparently my tapping my feet equated to feeling like I was bouncing on my chair to everyone else. A number of times the lighting was directly in the eyeline of those of us sitting in the galleries resulting in being so blinded that you couldn't see the stage!!! This was not worth the cost of the tickets and certainly not worth paying the extra to allegedly sit in comfort!!!!!!!!!!! This venue is definitely better being used as a sports hall than a live music venue. Having also attended the Old Fire Station in Carlisle I absolutely would prefer this venue for live music as the acoustics there are truly superb.
Willow T — Google review
It is a great venue and they've done a great job updating it but the actual hall itself needs an upgrade - the seats are a quite old and accessibility is not wonderful when going through these to get your seat. However I know this is hard to get with grants available! We are very lucky to have this place to access shows that tour across the country!!!
Marie R — Google review
The show was great However why your tickets were not checked at the main door instead of as you enter the auditorium (certainly causing a long queue upstairs only 1 staff on) I don't know. Again at the upstairs bar service could be improved more staff! and notices to say not taking cash, card payment only. I can say that the Brickyard on Wednesday had a far better system perhaps something to consider.

Fantastic place for kids of any age and adults too. The food is really lovely as well. The staff are attentive and it's appears clean and well maintained inside. One of my sons favourite places to go 😁. We haven't tried the crazy golf yet. That's next.
Louise C — Google review
We visited 1st time today, staff is not helpful at all, son is 5, didn’t tell us adults need to pay to enter with kids. We lost 10 minutes of playing time while I was buying 1 more ticket for myself. Very bad experience and very expensive. Paid £27. I would not recommend it to anyone.
Ольга И — Google review
The crazy golf was excellent. Great holes with some challenging ones in amongst them and all nicely laid out. Only issue was the really bad smell from the water around some of the holes. Was very bad in places
Carl R — Google review
Best thing about this place other than the fabulous facilities is the staff. Every single time I visit with the kids I'm thoroughly impressed, the young people who work here are a credit to themselves, the business and Carlsile.
Simon T — Google review
Once we found it down the back end of the Industrail estate 1st impressions where really good. It was busy but seemed very well organised and after a quick safety briefing the kids where ready to get stuck in. There seemed to be a lot of different things to try out and the kids had a great staff, there were plenty of staff around keeping an eye on people! We where there for a party, and the girls who where there to set the party up and bring us food where really nice! A great asset to the company, the food was not bad either!! All in all a great day. Cons: Seemed a few of the timers didn’t work so the kids couldn’t try and beat each other’s times

Rickerby Retreat Spa is a charming family-owned haven that promises an unforgettable experience. Recently, the swimming pool has been beautifully transformed into a serene oasis perfect for leisurely swims and relaxation. Partnering with ESPA, Rickerby offers exceptional spa treatments in five well-appointed treatment rooms, alongside a cozy pedicure room and nail bar. Guests can also enjoy the steam room, sauna, jacuzzi, and an inviting outdoor terrace.
Loved it. Beautifully decorated. Nice short but well executed menu. Little quirky with the nail bars in sight of the actual drinks bar, but I love quirky. Minor complaint of the staff not being as attentive as they perhaps should despite it being very quiet while we were there. I had to go and ask for cutlery, I then had to go ask for the bill. But when we caught the staff's attention they were lovely. We had a pannini and a flatbread pizza. My pizza was more like a puff pastry than an actual flatbread, but still tasted good. My most challenging order of an Oat milk latte was particularly good... not many places do a nice one. This place did. A table near us had ordered the cream tea, looked lovely. Still a 5 star experience in what felt like lush but relaxed surroundings. Will go back.

Lovely treat. Such a lovely quiet and relaxing day. Had exclusive use of steam room, sauna, hot tub and pool. Toiletries, shampoo, shower gell etc were all gorgeous Espa. The treatments were really good. The food in the Bistro was really good. Would highly recommend.

We have been for a massage which included 1 hour in the pool 🏊🏽. We had a very good time and got to relax ☺️ and enjoyed every second of it. The venue is very clean with friendly and welcoming staff. We’ll definitely go again.

Was treated for my birthday today. We had a lovely time and my pedicure was lovely. I’ve been to several spa’s and you do expect a certain amount of luxury which just isn’t there I’m afraid. My daughter’s robe was damp when she got it and they weren’t good quality. I know if I sent them to a charity shop they wouldn’t resell them. There was none of the little luxuries you expect. No creams etc to use when getting ready, a flushing toilet. They did have water but it was in a tiny paper cup. This may be due to health and safety but other spa’s give you glasses and fruit juice. We sat on the terrace and the amount of cobwebs was excessive. It all just felt like it should be cleaner. Like I said the treatment was good but I expected it to be private and there were two seats together. My daughter had been told we couldn’t get pedicures together but I did manage to get one with another woman. There are many better options out there.

Great spa, great location and great team. Right on the River Eden, conveniently located moments from the centre of Carlisle but also in the most blissful setting of the countryside just through Rickerby Park and the idyllic village of Rickerby. Pool, treatments, bar and restaurant - what a fabulous haven.

I had a family lunch with children and they were very accommodating. The retractable terrace roof is a nice touch to sit in the sun with a lively view of the garden and water feature. The staff were attentive and friendly without being interfering. The atmosphere was laid back and decor is contemporary and relaxing with different styles of dining experience. The food menu is varied and tasted amazing. The drinks selection was just as good and not expensive. Would definitely go again.

Wow what can I say the hot stone massage was amazing , I was asked at the beginning what did I want from the massage and it was for relaxation, and I wasn't expecting to be so relaxed , honest fantastic and will definitely be back but will add on the facial too next time . Thank you was just what I needed Sara

The award-winning roof terrace bar at Rickerby Retreat Bar in Rickerby, Carlisle is a fabulous place to spend a few hours catching up with friends, drinking cocktails, sipping wine, and eating delicious food overlooking the lovely spa gardens, and Rickerby Park, through floor to ceiling windows. The family-run retreat is designed for relaxation - from the mood lights in the bar area to the natural lighting in the restaurant. We had a variation of cocktails to start. They all looked and tasted delicious. Then a bottle of wine to accompany the following snacks .. 🧆 - Sharing Nachos - with mozzarella, guacamole, salsa, jalapenos & sour cream 🍱 - Sharing Deli Board - Meats, cheese, chutneys, crackers, dips, fruit and veg sticks The service is good and the atmosphere is relaxing (hardly surprising - it is a spa 😊). The only downside is they didn’t have any cream for a floaty coffee (first-world problems 🤪) Apart from that it was a perfect afternoon. Next time I’ll make it extra special, book a treatment & enjoy their leisure facilities. The products they use (ESPA) smelled wonderful.

Great family time! We went on Boxing Day and had a blast. Took family we don't usually see and had laughs and frustrations. We didn't solve it - but if we had 10 more minutes we might have cracked it. We are planning to do again! Highly recommend. Puzzles are difficult - but not impossible. We'll be back!
Misha F — Google review
What a great experience! We made the mistake of picking the hardest escape room (unintentionally!) and since we weren’t well-practised escape artists, we didn’t make it out. Would absolutely come back again to try something a little easier.
Elizabeth S — Google review
It wouldve been a more enjoyable experience if the room was explained better and they could talk to you whilst in there, the ai clues barely come out clear and the room we picked was 50/50 chance of completing but then got told it was the hardest one at the end? Had 5-10 minutes left to spare but got pulled out early and The room also stunk of bo :) thumbs down from me

We had a wonderful time doing the Sure-Lock Holmes room today. Our host, Olivia, was very welcoming and explained the background (and rules) with enthusiasm! The room was nicely furnished in the style of 221b Baker Street. The clues were entertaining and I enjoyed the addition of the red herrings! Highly recommended!

In the area whilst on holiday, found this place on Google and the four of us did the Sherlock room. Was great fun, very interesting and well thought out puzzles. We completed with a minute to spare. Lovely friendly and helpful hosts. Will come again on next year's holiday. Thank you for a fun experience :-)

Great time, we did the Mudley Quest room with our 2 teenage boys. We had a warm welcome from the team and the room was loads of fun and just the right challenge. Looking forward to going again.
Caroline H — Google review
Girls were not welcoming at all. Went for my friends 40th celebrations and was a disappointment. Told to be quiet like a school child. Room was impossible to get out of. AI assistant was awful. Couldn't hear the clues. Was told we would get a 30 minute then 15 minute warning. The only warning we got was to be told 15 mins left . It could be so much more fun but unfortunately our hosts were taking it all a bit too seriously. We wont be back.
Frances D — Google review
The main problem is parking, it said they had parking but we went round the very awkward road 3 times and had to park in a car park 10 mins away, not handy with disabled person in the group as there are a lot of steps just to get to a main road,, we left an hour early to get there but the traffic and parking meant it wasn't worth going as the time got cut down as you were late, hard to find and no parking by the time we got there we had 10 mins so it wasn't worth going in so no idea how the activities are, and before we got there we rang to ask about parking to be fobbed off on a random mobile number no help at all

Wonderful ma and pa run shop with a wealth of experience and knowledge. Always feel more than welcomed and able to discuss ideas and problems on the journey of owning a marine aquarium. I have purchased 99% of our aquarium's livestock here due to the health of the stock advice on care and compatibility. Plus did I mention the selection and fantastic prices.

Can not praise the staff in this shop enough. They provide knowledge and expertise on all aspects of aquatics. My first experience was tropical fish, then a transition to marine fish. Their knowledge is second to none in this town. They do not sell fish to make a sale, like some other stockist in the town. They advise on the correct combination of fish for a successful tank.Offering advice and friendly service every time. Have tried other places but none match this shop. They will take customized orders for fish, but will not allow the fish to leave the shop until they ensure they are feeding well. I would recommend a visit
Barney — Google review
I have been coming here for almost 20 years. I know that the fish are cared for and are going to do well in my tanks. I have purchased fish from lots of pet shops but Victoria aquatics is always the first point of call. Take your time and look around. 😀

HORRIBLE!!! Went in for a look.. the woman behind the counter did not say one word to us the whole 10 minutes we were in the shop... The redcap oranda's are in terrible condition, yes they are marked "not for sale", but these fish only have one or NO EYES!!! All of the other fish are crammed into a tiny tank. They do not look healthy.. not swimming around.. just "floating." Please go to a shop like maidenhead aquatics.. they at least know how to take care of their fish. This place should be shut down!!!

Vue Cinema Carlisle is a modern movie theater that showcases the latest mainstream films and offers family deals. The cinema provides level access and an accessible toilet on the main floor, but the first floor where the cinema room is located is not accessible. Located in Botchergate, near various bars and restaurants in the City Centre, it's a convenient spot for entertainment. Visitors praise the friendly staff who provide excellent service even during busy times.
Went here to see Avatar in 3D between Christmas and New Year at 12 noon. Very good service and extremely clean and people already tucking into hot dogs and pop corn. We got in early as it is so difficult to find your seat in the dark otherwise. VIP seats were very comfortable. Shame the film was so bad and so long and I really miss the Pearl and Dean local adverts...those were the days...

Don’t visit here in the evening if you’re actually interested in sitting and watching a film undisturbed. The staff here are not interested in what’s going on inside the screens once they’ve taken your admission money. We had people vaping, drinking alcohol, chatting, using their phones and causing a disturbance all the way through a recent screening which totally spoilt our enjoyment. Not once did staff come in to check.
Cheryl T — Google review
Comfortable seats, cheap tickets, friendly staff. I want to give it 5 stars, but the quality of the projection is often really bad. Focus issues, damaged screens, and maybe a 50% chance of the house lights being turned off. No real competition nearby so looks like there's not much pressure to improve unfortunately.
Peter M — Google review
I go here a lot. The staff are friendly and the place is kept clean. Plus the selection is honestly really good
Charlie H — Google review
Turn the bloody ceiling lights off when showing yours films! Common sense. Couldn’t see half the film due to being blinded by the lights. Useless staff checking the screens and not rectifying the problem.
Katie E — Google review
Terrible. Whatever you do, if you’re seeing a show in Screen 5 don’t go. Been twice in the last week and a bit to see Weapons and Together. Both times the lights have been left on through the entire show, not great when the films a horror and mostly dark so you can’t see anything apart from light reflection. Staff checks screen and does nothing about it, would’ve thought seeing the lights on would cause you to turn them off.
