The Mevlana Museum, also known as the Mausoleum of Rumi, is a significant tourist attraction in Konya. It houses the tomb of the revered Sufi mystic Rumi and features a museum displaying various artifacts from his life and era. Visitors can explore ancient manuscripts, hand-written copies of the Quran, musical instruments from Rumi's time, and art pieces dating back to the Seljuk era.
Unfortunately, the museum was closed when I visited, but even from the outside it was absolutely worth it. The turquoise dome, the Seljuk-Ottoman design, and the calm atmosphere around the place are breathtaking. You can really feel the spiritual energy here, and just sitting outside was peaceful. A must-visit in Konya and 5 stars without a doubt!
Aon S — Google review
One of the high point of my trip to Turkey. Honoring the Sufi religion and Rumi at the Mevlana Museum and Mosque. Cleansing in the water of life after visiting Rumi's burial site. The Mevlana Jalaluddin-i Rumi Mosque is magnificent. Sufism is a mystic body of religious practice found within Islam which is characterized by a focus on Islamic purification, spirituality, ritualism. Although Sufis were opposed to dry legalism, they strictly observed Islamic law and belonged to various schools of Islamic jurisprudence and theology. A day never to be forgotten .
Betsy Y — Google review
One of Turkey’s most iconic and spiritual sites. This is the resting place of Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi, the famous Sufi poet and mystic. The museum preserves manuscripts, ceremonial garments and artifacts from the Whirling Dervishes, while the turquoise conical dome makes the building instantly recognizable. A deeply meaningful and historic place absolutely worth a visit.
Patrizia P — Google review
Here lies one of the biggest inspirational poets of all time whose thoughts have enlightened the many souls. The museum is inside the complex, which houses Rumi's tomb. You get to learn about the life of disciples during the life of Rumi and the way things worked in 13th century.
Reza N — Google review
This place is a huge deal for those who have enjoyed Rumi’s poems and deep thoughts at least once. It is free and no need to buy tickets. It is divided into doors (babs) and separate parts to roam around like the main museum, tombs, and poems and photos. No recording with flash but normal one is ok. Those who know persian can also read the scripts and poems that are everywhere. The garden part is also enjoyable for sitting or drinking coffee.
Nesa M — Google review
Beautiful museum where Rumi taught his views and received his mentor Shams. The museum holds Rumi's tomb and the history of Mevlevi Order. Do not get intimidated by the massive amount of people there. If you read Rumi and follow him, whatever your religion is, find a place to sit near his tomb, close your eyes and meditate.
Juliana G — Google review
Beautiful! Great place to learn about Rumi and the Sufi religion. It was pretty crowded, but you could move through at your own pace. Great place for people interested in history.

The Konya Archeological Museum is a must-visit attraction in Konya, drawing visitors from around the world with its fascinating exhibits that showcase the country's significant history. The museum features artifacts dating back to prehistoric and BC ages, as well as exhibits from the Middle Ages and unique art artifacts.
I've been to some of the biggest archeological museums in the world, and this little museum has a more impressing collection than some of them. The Hercules Sarcophagus is worth a visit all by its self. Oh and it's free
Mica S — Google review
Wonderful museum! Not too big but they have really interesting items I've never seen before. There could be a bit more explanation in English but if you're interested in history and ancient things you should definitely not miss it. Also, it's free! (Keep in mind that they don't have a toilet.)
Suzie P — Google review
Small, amazing, super fascinating old museum with extraordinary relics from Greek-Roman times and especially from the nearby Neolithic towns. To be visited! It’s free!
Enriko T — Google review
Such a nice museum to visit and it’s totally free. Felt in love with the frontyard and the ruins especially the one for poseidon. It is central and easy to eccess.
Nesa M — Google review
Small museum with great exhibits, specially the sarcophagus. The Hercules Sarcophagus describing the 12 works that Hercules did is incredible. You can see also different styles (for example if it has columns in the corners of the sarcophagus). There is not much infornation on some of the exhibits though. Free entry.
JR S — Google review
Worth the time to wander and see study what this little 💎 of a museum (free entry btw!) has to offer—some 9000 years of history! The 12 deeds of Heracles sarcophagus is gorgeous as well as the collection of lion sculptures outside and some of the Catalhoyuk finds as well!
Heather S — Google review
It's a small but free archaeological museum that is worth visiting. It contains exhibits from local prehistoric settlements and Roman Empire. I was surprised to see a Sarcophagus of Heraclees here.

The Konya Tropical Butterfly Garden is a captivating destination featuring exotic plants, butterflies, and an insect museum. Situated adjacent to the Selcuklu Flower Garden and the Adventure Tower, this expansive urban park boasts a butterfly-shaped building with a glass roof covering 7,600 square meters.
When you enter, hundreds of butterflies silently greet you by clapping their hands. The humid and warm atmosphere, adorned with tropical plants, embraces you with all its presence. As you travel in this unique world, butterflies fly around you like moths, if one lands on your outstretched finger, our happiness will pass through the glass and reach the sky. I hope you will see it if you go to Konya in the spring.
Ali P — Google review
The Konya Tropical Butterfly Garden is straight-up like walking into a living watercolor painting. The second you step inside, you’re hit with warm, earthy air, layers of green everywhere, and butterflies just casually floating past like they own the place. It’s humid (like South Asian Summer humid), so definitely dress light and bring water, your skin will glow like never before in what feels like a tropical escape right in the middle of Konya. The glass dome itself? Stunning. It lets in soft natural light that bounces off vibrant wings and tropical leaves, perfect for photos but also just super calming to look at. They’ve recreated a whole ecosystem inside, with 40+ butterfly species from across the world flying freely around you. If you stand still long enough, one might even land on you! I literally held my breath hoping it would but that didn’t happen, one did land on my friend though! What I loved most is how clean and thoughtfully designed everything is. You don’t just walk through and take pictures , there are signs explaining butterfly lifecycles, and you can actually see some emerging from cocoons. It’s peaceful, quiet, and kind of magical. Whether you’re going with friends, solo, or on a soft-date vibe, it’s 100% worth the visit. Staff are friendly, tickets are affordable, and the whole experience is unforgettable.

Konya Tropical Butterfly Garden is a magical place. The atmosphere is calm and full of color with natural sounds. Hundreds of butterflies flying freely make you feel close to nature. A must-visit place in Konya — peaceful, clean, and perfect for photos and childer

You MUST go to this place. You will see a lot of beautiful flowers, very many different types and vibrant colourful butterflies. The entry fee is cheep too. Inside is a little bit humid and hot but shouldn't bother you too much. I absolutely loved it.
RealLord P — Google review
The tropical butterfly garden is great place to visit with your children. You need at least 45 to 60 minutes to make sure your child can read and learn about butterflies and other bugs. They ask you if you want a photo at the entrance but finally they sell it to you, they should have told us that it wasn't free.

Alaaddin Hill Park in Konya is a serene and historic site, offering a perfect spot for picnics with its walking paths, benches, gardens, and trees. The park was built by the Seljuk Sultan Alaaddin Keykubat and now serves as a peaceful green space in the heart of the city. Visitors can explore the Alaaddin Mosque and remnants of an old palace while enjoying the lush surroundings.
This is a very calm and green park a little to the north from downtown Konya. The place is not very crowded in the early hours of the afternoon and you can stroll along the green paths, as well as to get to know the examples of Seljuk architecture, like a mosque and what remain of a palace in the park.
Reza N — Google review
The park is at the centre of the Konya. 10-20 yrs old people hang up here. Many couples and students play! Alaaddin mosque is elegant and beautiful! You should visit here! Love the atmosphere and energy of this park
Mothusi — Google review
A hill and a park to enjoy view when there is no renovation around as barriers block the view. There are many spots to rest, take photo, places and buildings to enjoy their architecture especially the mosque, and the famous water fountain. Kafem brand belongs to the municipality where serves moderate prices items.

A peaceful park in Konya, its a good place to just chill. The park is clean, there are trash bins almost every corner, and because its uphill and there are trees, the ambience is cool.

Kyoto Japanese Park, also known as Japon Park by locals, is a 3.6-hectare Japanese-style park in Konya. It features enchanting plants and various species that create amazing scenery for visitors. The park offers a treetop walkway to enjoy the fantastic landscapes and water features. The distinctive Japanese architectural style of the place makes visitors feel like they are in Japan.
Wonderful and great park. Japanese design regarding the name. It's very clean and green. Full of oxygen if you go in the morning, you will feel it. There's Cafe, places to set and WC. I recommend this park.

Nice place to hang out and chill. The infrastructure and design is really of Japanese way. They even have plenty of kois in the pond inside the park. There is also a restaurant where one can have a meal or snack.
Iscene S — Google review
I recommend you to visit. A Japanese park with a designer landscape, colorful trees, sakura trees, Japanese-style houses, ponds with carp and fountains. The garden was opened under the patronage of the Japanese Consulate under the auspices of the cultural exchange with the Republic of Turkey. Admission is free, there are parking lots, cafes and toilets. It is open even on official holidays.
Ramil K — Google review
This park was built in 2010 with the architecture of the Japanese gardens as Konya and Kyoto became sister cities. The park is designed in a very nice form and you can relax there while enjoying the setting.
Reza N — Google review
I was on my way from antalya to ankara, and it was a great opportunity to visit this place. I loved how quiet and beautiful it is. Food and drinks are highly recommended, too. Maybe one negative comment, which is the lake water, needs to be cleaned. The wonderful fish they have there can be shown so much better then this
Ahmed G — Google review
Nice thematic park ! Food was timid, but there was no English description and spice indicator. The dessert was so and so.
Nikol Z — Google review
It is a lovely place for a walk, picnic and general chill. Many families were here eating in the many Japanese style wooden huts, and there is also a restaurant/cafe. We went to the Cafe, and I must admit the noodles and salad we ordered were pretty average for Turkish restaurant standards, so honestly I wished we brought food with us. The desert at the restaurant looked good though. Either way, the park itself is fantastic and it's free to access. The public toilets weren't the greatest though. But I am still giving it 5 stars as we had a lovely two hours here and it was very easily accessible by tram.

Karatay Madrasa, built in 1251 by Emir Celaleddin Karatay, is a significant monument of the Anatolian Seljuk era. It has been transformed into a museum showcasing exquisite tile art and archaeological artifacts. Originally serving as a school, it was funded by nobles and the Wakf for free education until its abolition in 1924.
Great museum about Seljuks. It was really inspiring to see the Shamanic and Persian influence on the most important pre-Ottoman Anatolian Turks, through the artistic tiles of the 13th centuries exhibited in the museum.
Dogan S — Google review
💎 this madrasa ended up being my favorite place in Konya (love Konya in general!). The colors and beauty of the tiled dome space really touched me—the city of Konya did a great service to humanity restoring this old place of knowledge.
Heather S — Google review
Very nice place, very friendly people, we were expressed with the show and the exhibition.
Zakari — Google review
Small museum but packed with lots of history, stone markings and tiles master pieces. Love the interior of the museum.
Hassan G — Google review
An amazing madrasa showcasing ancient tiles in an atmospheric location. The interior of the madrasa still has many of the original tiles. Also 800 year old fragments from Konya castle.
Will D — Google review
It is a good example of Seljuk architecture and a center of Seljuk science. It is a beautiful work that has mostly survived with its dome, interiors and decorations. During its active period, it was at the forefront of teaching astronomy and similar scientific courses. It is a beautiful madrasah that should be seen in Konya, I recommend it.
Hamza D — Google review
Beautiful museum in an old madrasa. The tile work in the building is amazing. There are some displays with artefacts, especially Selçuk tiles. Touristic admission was 60tl in December 2024
N M — Google review
It was an okay place to visit. It is a shrine and a tomb for historical religious figures and there are some artifacts around the place. I especially liked the carving on the outside of the main door as well as the inside of the dome. Other than that is it pretty cheap ( i think 20 liras) and i was alone there.

Sırçalı Medrese, a 13th-century Islamic seminary sponsored by the Seljuk vizier Bedreddin Muhlis, is a sight to behold with its ornate tiled exterior. Although closed on certain days, visitors can still admire the intricate tile work from outside. The medrese is located near the archaeological museum of Konya and offers a glimpse into the rich artistic heritage of Turkey.

It was built in 1243 by Bedreddin Muslih, the vizier of the Seljuks. It is also known as Muslihiyye Madrasa by the founder of the building, which is known as Sircali Madrasah because of its glazed brick and tile decorations. The master of the master architect, Muhammad b. Mohammed et-Tusi. In the Seljuk and Ottoman periods, Hanafi fiqh and tafsir taught madrasah XVII. century began to be devastated, demanding cells XIX. century adobe rooms were completely demolished and used until 1924. The building, which was overhauled in 1943-1954, was opened to visitors in 1960 as the Grave Monuments Section of the Konya Museum. Mahmut Akok's project was taken as a basis and restored in 1969 by the Ministry of National Education.

Nothing to see, the museum seems closed, if it existed. Just a courtyard, a tiled ewan and a carved gate, same as in other two medreses. Waist of time, and it's in an ugly delapidated district.

The Stone Works Museum of Fine Minaret is a must-visit destination in Konya, housed in a historically significant 13th-century building. It offers an enriching experience filled with art and culture, showcasing a diverse collection of contemporary art pieces as well as galleries dating back to the Middle Ages. The museum's highlight is its renowned minaret made of tiles, which has attracted visitors since its completion in 1264.
If you like fine arts and love architecture it is a must to see these fine stone carvings survived many hundreds of years until now. This building used to be an university where education and living was free for every student. Payed by the foundation where they were also work in administrative positions. Getting experienced in work as well while studying. It is interesting to know that the Selçuklu Empire had carvings of fantastic figures such as sirens, double headed eagles, phoenix and angels as well as hunting and animal figures. They took over a big part of the Eastern Roman Empire and developed.
Jacob L — Google review
Although it is pretty similar to the other madrasa north of alaaddin park, and the other one has more artifacts to admire, i give this one a higher rating because of the impressive architecture on the outside of the archway at the entrance door and the mineret next to it. Other than that, it is mainly just stones inside. The entrance is 20 lira so you can always check it out.
Mike A — Google review
October 2023 The Mosque was closed on the day we visited and looked like it's been closed for a while. The carvings on the entrance are beautifully intricate. We stared at it for a good 10 minutes to take in the beauty. Accompanying minaret was strangely right next to the entrance. Mosque is adjacent to Kulture Park which is surrounded by hundreds of shops, restaurants, cafés. A very pleasant walk.

In addition, the park contains a beautiful lake where you can rent rowing boats, which is a very enjoyable experience, especially on sunny days. The café in the park offers a variety of drinks and snacks at reasonable prices, and the outdoor seating overlooks the picturesque views that add to the enjoyment of the visit. Finally, I must praise the cleanliness of the park and its excellent maintenance. The staff work hard to maintain the beauty of the park and provide the best experience for visitors. Overall, my visit to King Abdullah Park was an unforgettable experience and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place to relax and enjoy nature.

I absolutely loved it. I took my kids there 3 days in a row while I was visiting konya. They had so much to see and do. I love the little workshops they have for kids where they sit in laboratories like scientists and adults help them make projects. They have great moon jump experience. The price is absolutely great just 7 tl per adult and 5tl per child over 3 years old.

The Shams of Tabriz Mosque and Tomb is a significant site in Konya, Turkey, housing the tomb of the revered 12th-century poet and spiritual mentor of Rumi, Shams Tabrizi. Although Iranians believe that Shams' actual tomb is in Khoy, Iran, this mosque holds cultural value as a symbolic site. The unassuming small building exudes a wonderful atmosphere for meditation and reflection.
A deeply spiritually significant mosque. Holding a tomb dedicated to Shams, Rumi's teacher.
Maxwell G — Google review
Take care, it is always crowded. It is an important spiritual experience, you have to try and read Fatiha for Mevlana Shams

What can I say? Once in a lifetime experience…. Very authentic and spiritual environment. I just wish there were better ventilation equipments during the hot summer days.
Sarah — Google review
A very peaceful place. Most people don't follow the rules, they don't cover their heads when entering such places. This behavior is quite disrespectful towards Shams. I wish they knew..

Mashallah what a majestic place of great historical importance. Loved visiting this area. And you would feel even more good if you have read The Forty Rules of Love. May Allah bless this person and if you get the chance, do visit this.
Arsalan A — Google review
Small mosque where the tomb of Shams of Tabriz is supposed to be located. However, there are similar burial places claimed by other cities ( up to 5), including one Unesco World Heritage place in Iran. According to contemporary Sufi tradition, Shams mysteriously disappeared: some say he was killed by close disciples of Rumi who were jealous of the close relationship with Rumi but according to others, he left Konya.
JR S — Google review
Wonderful atmosphere, very nice to sit in a corner and meditate. We left because the evening prayer started, but came back the next day to meditate again. Unassuming small building, particularly compared with the sumptuous burial site of Shams’ disciple Rumi. Shams is a bit like the forgotten Master

Around the World in 80 Thousand Park is a landscaped park that features replicas of dinosaurs, fairy tale characters, and historical miniatures. It offers something for everyone of all ages, including miniature mosques, life-sized superhero figures like Hulk and Superman, and a cafeteria with affordable prices. At just 10TL (70 euro cents) for entrance fee, it’s an excellent value for money.
Great place for adults and children with very beautiful views. I took the whole family while we were there in a visit to a friend. The design is very nice combining nature with historical elements and that is why I think the design was very clever and interesting. It is very good to visit once with the children to enjoy the view with a little history about the architectural heritage of the area.

An extremely popular area in Konya lately, Around the World in 80 Thousand Park is located on Dutlu Street in Meram Durunday Neighborhood. The park, which is called by this name because it was built on an area of 80,000 m², was put into service on April 23, 2014, on the National Sovereignty and Children's Day.

As one of the oldest mosques in Konya, it stands out for being situated in a market area and offering a serene atmosphere inside. Visitors can appreciate the mosque's unique setting and its proximity to the city center.
Beautiful! I’d wish I’d had more than the hour I had to explore this spot and all the beautiful calligraphy. They provide shoe covers so that you don’t have to take shoes off to enter which was nice of them. Everyone was very kind, even though I felt a bit odd as a tourist in a place where people are actively worshipping.

Hagia Eleni Church, constructed in 327 AD by Helena, the mother of a Byzantine Emperor, stands as a significant testament to the region's Christian heritage. Situated about 7 kilometers from Konya center, it draws Christian visitors and history enthusiasts alike. The well-preserved church features ongoing restoration efforts and boasts a beautiful garden with a serene blue-water fountain. Visitors can find parking, restrooms, and a security office at the garden level.
Whoa, bros! Just time-traveled to the totally righteous Hagia Eleni Church in Sille, Konya—built way back in the 4th century by Queen Helena herself, mother of Constantine the Great. Major historical vibes, dudes! You walk in and it’s like, bam! Icons, stone walls, and holy awesomeness everywhere. The place is most ancient and most excellent—stood strong through centuries of gnarly history and epic peace between Greeks and Turks.
Omar W — Google review
In this write-up, I will not talk about the historical aspects of this church. You can read about this on the internet. I will try here to shed light on a few areas that might be important to prospect visitors. I visited this church in December 2023. It is evident that this place has been well restored and works are still on-going. The garden in front of the church and its blue-water fountain are beautiful. There is a place to park your car. At garden’s level, there are toilets and a security office. I was welcomed in English and was told that the entry is free. The Church looks majestic from the outside. Although the structure of the church is sizeable, you are only allowed to access its main hall. Some of the hall internals still require further restoration works while some others are in a perfect shape. The restored small piano is impressive. There is a person there who will hand you some brochures about the church and Sille, and a very useful touristic map of Sille as well. I did not get the chance to open a discussion with him but, reading other reviews, it appears that he’s available to answer questions and give explanations if requested to do so. The church is worth visiting. If you can, spend a day in Sille and visit its numerous attractions including this church. General note about Sille: Sille, also known as Sille Subaşı and historically Sylata, is a neighbourhood of the municipality and district of Selçuklu, northwest of Konya. To describe it practically, it is a peaceful village trying to find itself a place on the tourist attraction map. It does have some historical landmarks but seems to have been neglected in the past. You can now notice a serious effort by its Municipality to give it a new look, restore what needs to be restored, organize the streets and shopping locations, beautify the general look etc., in what seems to be a move to make it an elegant tourist destination. The efforts are noticeable and are moving in the right direction. I did enjoy a full day there and wouldn’t hesitate to visit it again if I happen to be in Konya.
Muhammad K — Google review
Nice architecture and atmosphere. Just Interesting that there's a Muslim tour guide working in the church explaining the history to the visitors. Sometimes he's not sure about the traditions of the church but he's just doing his job as a tour guide.

During my stroll along Mevlana Caddesi, I made my way to the Karatay Tile Works Museum. This charming little museum showcases an impressive collection of Seljuk ceramics and tiles, all housed within a beautifully restored building that once served as a medrese where Rumi imparted his teachings. The intricate carvings on the facade of the nearby Ince Minaret Medrese caught my eye before I continued my journey up to Alaadin Mosque to meet with Sabri.
Worth a visit for €3. Showcases some beautiful 13th century tiles and has a gorgeous main room with floor to ceiling tiles. Signs are in both Turkish and English. A nice way to spend 30-45 minutes in your day if you’re visiting Konya
