The Cathédrale Saint-Pierre in Vannes is a remarkable Gothic cathedral with a Romanesque tower and a neo-Gothic facade. It stands on the remains of an ancient Romanesque cathedral and is actually a basilica, housing the relics of Saint Vincent Ferrier since 1419. The cathedral is a pilgrimage site on the Tro Breizh route, honoring the Seven Founding Saints of Brittany during the Middle Ages.
Sweet small cathedral in centre ville Vannes. Great tapestry around the tomb of St Vincent Ferrier and several beautiful stained glass windows of Jeanne d’Arc. Gorgeous pipe organ as well, would love to hear it played one day. Worth a visit if you’re in the area
Ben D — Google review
Beautiful old cathedrale! Part of it is under construction, close to the public, but most part of the cathedrale is available to be seen.
Carmen S — Google review
A lovely little cathedral with a very long history. A lot of work is being put into restoration and it is clearly a living parish church. There are helpful signs posted indicating useful and interesting facts, often in multiple languages. I enjoyed my visit.
Anne E — Google review
A very nice Cathedral in the middle of the beautiful Vannes. A nice quick visit will suffice.
Dr C — Google review
It feels that a lot of a efforts has been put into that cathedral, and it's still the case today (free guided visit, a lot of information/boards) It was sad that there was no holy water left. (Even with the special covid holy water dispenser) Besides that it wasn't a special looking cathedral. Nice temperature and calm inside.

Wonderful town 15 min bike ride from Aire Camping carpark
Yvonne A — Google review
Beautiful little cathedral hidden away in the city centre holding the precious relics of the Fourth Angel of the Apocalypse - St Vincent Ferrer. A lot of footfall which can make prayer difficult but good to see so many people inside a church. Information on large posters is also in English so very helpful to follow along. Lots of renovation going on so a lot is not on display which is a shame if you've come from far away. The house where St Vincent lived is above a tourist souvenir shop just around the corner. But was closed by 2pm so we couldn't visit assuming visiting is even possible. The house is quite badly signposted and no info online which makes it a terrible loss for pilgrims. All in all worth a visit - St Vincent Ferrer welcomes you.
G J — Google review
The architecture is quite breathtaking considering its q3th century. Very little time used except on the great organ. The marble used for the statues must be worth a small fortune these days. Very serine place & remarkable cool temperature wise. Visit on a Sunday.

La Cohue - Musée des Beaux Arts de Vannes is a medieval hall that now serves as a museum of fine arts. It houses a collection of engravings and works by local artists. The building has a rich history, having been used as a marketplace, the Duke's courtrooms, and even the Breton Parliament in the late 17th century. The museum offers a generous exhibition space with ancient arches and an incredible atmosphere.
A small but interesting art museum/ gallery. Lots to absorb in a beautiful building with english translations available. Only open afternoons. Reasonable entry price. One toilet inside.

Beautiful restaurant beside the port in Vannes, France. Staff very efficient and food A1. Moules were freshest ever. Reasonable priced. We've been before and will return.
Liam D — Google review
Vannes is a beautiful old walled town and was a major port in the days of sail. Today it exists largely on tourism from both French and foreign tourists. It has a tgriving Saturday market which is large and well attended. What is strange is the city's recent decision to introduce parking charges over all areas anywhere near the old town and the market. This will surely be a disincentive to visit as a tourist or to visit the market.

The site's rich history is evident in its well-preserved defenses, which enclose an old quarter characterized by charming half-timbered houses.

While we didn't have enough time to explore the ramparts, we were lucky enough to spend s sunny evening walking around Vannes. The city is a real gem, soaked in history. If you like castles, towers and wobbly old wooden framed medieval buildings...this is the place to be! Some great food to be had also.

Compagnie Du Golfe offers a delightful cruise from Port Navalo to Belle Ile on the Gulf of Morbihan, making it a must-do activity while in Vannes. The comfortable ship and friendly crew provide an excellent experience. There is ample seating available, and amenities such as restrooms are easily accessible. The staff is accommodating and provides informative commentary during the cruise. While the excursion primarily features French commentary, non-French speakers may find it beneficial to have some information translated into English.
Very friendly staff. The excellent service started already at the company's ticket desk in Vannes and it continued onboard. Dress warmly even in summer = a pullover, perhaps a raincoat and a scarf. It's windy and moist on Golfe de Morbihan. Thank you very much! I'd love travel with you again.

We did a pleasant evening excursion in the Quiberon peninsula. As a drawback, let me say that all the comments made by the crew were in french. Being a touristic boat trip, I would suggest them to translate some of the information to english.

Very pleasant cruise on a comfortable ship with a nice crew. We phoned them in the morning with no confidence in having chances to board at 2:15pm. But, there were enough seats left (we were 7) to enjoy the afternoon in the Morbihan gulf :) There's a large free car park at the peer. And restrooms are available at the same place, as well as on the ship. When cruising, you are provided with lots of information about this quaint site. Don't forget caps, wind stopping clothes, and even your favorite sunscreen.

Outdoor Activities
Plage de Conleau is a beloved beach on the peninsula of Conleau, Vannes. It's the city's only beach, but it offers a pleasant and family-friendly atmosphere. The water is relatively warm and calm, making it ideal for swimming. Protected from marine currents by wooded tongues of land, the surroundings are picturesque with trees and boats adding to its charm.
Very pretty place, a small sheltered beach and a pool. Lots of places to eat and drink🍷. Limited parking at busy times, or a short walk from another car park.

We really liked this beach! It's not as big as other ones in the area but was not super crowded when we visited first days of August. Close to the built "natural swimmingpool" that also have some small beach space especially suiting kids. There's a couple of restaurants and ice cream kiosks, and a playground close by so it's easy to stay for a while!

What's most people would expect a beach to be a fun trip to the seaside but think again my daughter and both my son's got stung by jellyfish or more likely and underwater types of nettles here are some of the quotes they had when it burned and tortured them: it burns so much and it's hard to walk and like a parts of my leg the images grueling in disturbing it bubbles up in the bubbles up and it bubbles up and rashed in so many places I strongly suggest not to come to this beach and there is slimy series that is a blackish dark green colour, Please do not come!

The Tour du Connétable, dating back to the early 1400s, is a magnificent piece of architecture that once served as the residence for the head of the Duke of Brittany's armies. This tower has witnessed various historical events, including being used as a prison during the French Revolution. Today, it offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city and hosts cultural exhibitions. With its artillery casemates and imposing height, this tower stands as an integral part of Vannes' eastern ramparts.

We enjoyed a great boat trip around the Gulf, with a stop-over on an island for lunch. What a great way to enjoy a beautiful sunny day!
CLIVIGER — Google review
As poor French speakers we got very bored - we took the full ride with a four hour stop at the second island. The island was nice and 4 hours there was fine. The tour was very dull for an international family. Probably great if you are French / speak good French. For us it was a nice overly long, overly expensive ferry ride, in the lovely bay on a sunny day. All announcements and commentary were solely in French. Fine as we are in France, but it is a tourist boat and there was plenty of time available for English commentary. The tours are more than expensive enough to expect this service. I discovered while we were half way, by reading the responses of the tour company to other tourists, that they have an audio guide. This was at no point mentioned to us :) I downloaded and after trying to use it was very glad we hadn’t relied on this as it only covered some of the commentary and was hard to use if you couldn’t keep your phone on it permanently (and near impossible if you didn’t have headphones with you). If you don’t speak good French, I would not recommend this tour or take a much shorter version.

Wonderful tour of the Gulf of Morbihan with a friendly crew. Enjoyed stopping on l'Ile d'Arz, where we were able to rent bikes the moments we stepped off the boat and cruise all over the island. So quaint and lovely! That said: BE WARNED! Initial ride was 2 hr 15 minutes with NO water or food available on board! Good thing we'd stopped at a boulangerie and brought our own water bottles. Also all of the tour was IN FRENCH with no translation! So just be aware of this before you go.

Beautiful sunny Sunday... We went on this boat to see the islands and beautiful bays. However left disapointed with the lack of information, at no point of us purchasing the tickets we were advised of; *If you are not having lunch with us, then no food or water will be avaiable to be purchased. *If you don't fully understand french, then no other information will be providade to you, visual or any kind of audio or maps. So, we spend 3.5 hours in the boat and I had to beg for them to sell me a bottle of water and bread the ansewr was negative to the bread and got a bottle of water.. If you are not interested in other turists to your parte of the world, just advise on your websit; TURISTS WITHOUT KNOWLEGED OF OUR LUNGUAGE ARE NOT WELCOME!

Nice boat and tours, but my wife and I were stranded on an island when the last boat left 15 minutes early. After we eventually got back to our accommodation, the young lady at our local tourist information centre tried to complain on our behalf, and was shocked by the abuse she got over the phone. Not much to do in the Southern part of Vannes, and the walk around the Conleau peninsula had been kind of boring until we came across the botanical garden. It made our days. A symphomy of colours and a display of many varieties of flowers that every nature lover relishes. It's also a great place for romantic pictures or meditation practice.

Historical landmark
The Postern Gate, a remarkable 17th-century stone structure, is an integral part of the historic ramparts in Vannes, France. This charming gateway may not be the most grandiose entry point to the city, but it offers a unique glimpse into the past and serves as a passageway to explore nearby attractions like the enchanting gardens of Chateau de l'Hermine and traditional public wash houses. Visitors can appreciate its architectural significance while enjoying easy access to parking facilities nearby.

Semaine du Golfe du Morbihan is a biennial event that takes place around the Feast of the Ascension in April or May. It features vintage ships from around the world gathering in the ports of seventeen towns around the gulf, attracting French and international tourists for a week of seafaring spirit. The event offers a magical experience for lovers of old rigs, with breathtaking views of Berder Island adding to its exceptional charm.

Francois B — Google review
(Translated by Google) The on-shore program is rich and varied: concerts, exhibitions, shows, demonstrations, a marine flea market, children's games, and boat watching (bring binoculars and a comfortable chair to fully enjoy the experience). All for free, what a treat! The on-shore program is fantastic (a two-day sail with Flotilla B), very technical with the current but really enjoyable. Beautiful spots to discover. The organization is top-notch (departure and arrival of the crews). I recommend a day trip (on a speedboat or, even better, on an old sailing ship) for a unique experience, observing the beauty of the landscapes and getting up close to the boats. A few tips: depending on your preferences, check the program on the website beforehand, leave early to avoid traffic jams and park nearby (otherwise, plan a bit of walking depending on the site, or take your bike). Book meals in advance (they are fully booked that evening). I spent the evening in Larmor Baden and Plougoumelen. Great volunteers, a magnificent setting, a good meal, good music... a great atmosphere, and a head-full of memories! In short, a great 2025 edition, a big congratulations to everyone who worked to make this a success, and a huge thank you to the volunteers! As a bonus, great weather ⛵️😎.

I volunteered during Gulf Week with my boat for the 2023 edition I had a serious problem with my engine. I had no support or compassion from the organizers. My loss was €6,500. Which I had to finance because despite a few reminder letters. I haven't had the slightest response from the organizers. I think that the next edition will make many volunteers think before embarking on this adventure at their own risk. A word to the wise. A bonne entendeur . Salut

Very uncomfortable poorly maintained rental skates (extremely dull skates, quite painful to wear) and poorly maintained ice. Definitely don't bother coming here unless you have your own skates. I would have argued for a refund since my kids wanted to leave after making a single lap around the rink but they should use the money to maintain the equipment. Such dull skates are dangerous and make it difficult to stop and control.
