Fort Henry National Historic Site is a captivating glimpse into 19th-century military life, nestled at the confluence of Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River. This restored British fortification, built between 1832 and 1840, showcases impressive limestone structures that served as a defensive stronghold. Visitors can immerse themselves in history through guided tours or explore independently while enjoying engaging daily activities like flag ceremonies, cannon firings, and musical performances.
A very well maintained national historic site to learn about Canadian history and its military past. We spent around a couple of hours exploring the fort thoroughly. There are several restaurants, cafés, and a collectibles shop inside the fort. Along with the historic structures, everyday items from the past, and specific sections dedicated to different purposes, visitors can also enjoy live performances and drills. They’re informative and interesting to experience. Though we didn’t opt for it, one can also sign up for archery and rifle classes, which look very interesting. Even though it was a public holiday, finding a parking spot wasn’t an issue for us. And the views from the top are fantastic too!

Fabulous place to head up to watch the sunset. We went on the haunted walk at night which was relatively cool except we had a young person as part of the tour maybe 10 or 11 years old who didn't follow any of the rules repeatedly made noise and Flash their flashlight which really ruined the ambience and the parents weren't doing much about it. Lots of cool spiders though!
Julia W — Google review
Good place for half day trip. Although, entry ticket is high compared to fort size and being national heritage size. Many restaurants inside the fort. Fort itself is well maintained and you can get free tour guide who explains different areas. Good collection of old guns, swords and some old cannons. Actors performing soldiers are very good and take their parts very active and seriously. They have good performances going on entire day which includes canon firing and gun firings. Overall good walk around the fort.
Nihar — Google review
Amazing history and a wonderful tour! We watched the guards marching and rehearsing, and they demonstrated the use of musical instruments, signals, and drums — we even had a chance to play the drums ourselves. The guards also demonstrated the firing of guns. The fort has many rooms on display, and the gift shop offers freshly baked bread from an on‑site oven. It was a very educational and memorable experience!
Judy H — Google review
Fort Henry was such a cool experience! The historic atmosphere, the costumed guides, and the live demonstrations (like the cannon firing and marching) really brought history to life. Great views over the lake and Kingston too. It’s fun for both adults and kids – especially the museum section and the tunnels. Totally worth the visit if you're anywhere near Kingston!
Amir K — Google review
A fantastic experience that is well worth the visit. Tickets are a little pricy but its made up for with fantastic staff that are all very knowledgeable about the fort and the history of it plus the live drills they perform. On top of this the views offered from the fort are breathtaking. I'd argue this is thee place to visit for anything historical about Kingston if you only had one place you could visit, this would be the one I would choose hands down.
Patrick B — Google review
To be fair before I begin, when we visited we were in the middle of a crazy hot period in the summer (heat warnings were in place) and a lot of Fort Henry is open and exposed, so our enjoyment may have been muted a little bit. Aside from the heat however, the tour and experience was very satisfying. The guided tour was somewhat informative although our guide seemed a little newer as he didn’t have answers for all questions asked. The costumed staff were a nice touch, however more context on who they were or what their function was during the period was would have been nice. Bistro and shops seemed out of place and not fitting with the historical significance of the Fort which detracted from the visit. More information and context would have been nice.
Eric C — Google review
This was first time back at Fort Henry since I was a kid back in 1996. The fort still looks the same. This was also my family’s first time visiting. We did the guided tour & the guide was a young lady who I can’t remember her name was so very knowledgeable, took time explaining everything in simple terms for the kids to understand. Only downside was the group was very large so it was a bit hard to hear her voice & see some of the places inside the fort. The canon firing was awesome to see & so was the other demonstrations & the final drum parade was amazing. One other thing the guide or the ticket agent didn’t mention was to stay off the canons so don’t climb on them or you will get yelled at by the staff as it happened to a few people.

Historic Sites
Bellevue House National Historic Site in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, is a restored Italianate-style villa that was once the residence of Sir John A. Macdonald, Canada's first Prime Minister. The house, built in the 1840s and designated as a National Historic Site for its architecture, offers guided tours by staff dressed in period costumes.
We were hesitant to visit this site due to John A. MacDonald’s policies related to the Indian Act and Residential Schools. However, we found that we could sign up for the ‘Unpacking MacDonald’ Tour which promised to explore MacDonald’s legacy…both the positive and the negative. The tour, led by Jake, a perk staff & student at Queens doing a PhD in History. The tour was excellent…informative, interactive & thought-provoking. The renovation (physical & cultural) that Parks Canada has completed in this location was obviously completed with a great deal of thought as well as consultation with local Indigenous & community members. The tour was 1.5 hrs and we easily spent another hour exploring on our own…listening to several of the videos and reading all the information & reflections. We highly recommend.
Tracy A — Google review
Nice museum on the life of our first Prime Minister, John A. Macdonald. The guide was dressed in the 1840s era. A tour of the house, which is beautiful, was really informative.
Cristine G — Google review
Came to know more about the history of the house and ended up being well informed. The house was well preserved and there are a lot of interactive stuff to do and learn from. The only thing we wish it had is some descriptive or information about the plants in the garden. Other than that, it's a lovely place to visit.
Vanne S — Google review
I've loved visiting this place since I was a small child. I've been here probably a dozen times over my life time. I brought my service dog last time and they had no issues which was refreshing. I never get tired of the history and the beauty of the house and grounds. When I was little I used to dream about living there.
CatMommy84 — Google review
Wonderful, with free admission (guided tours for $). The grounds and house are quite beautiful and you'll appreciate the shaded grounds on hot days. Its also a nice in-between stop if going from downtown to Kingston Penetentiary. Learn a bit of history with plenty of interpretive panels and knowledgable staff at the house.

A very informative place to visit to know so much information on the 1st prime minister of canada Sir John A Macdonald from his yonger years and his family history. And was free to visit because parks canada has a special this year 2025.

Great place to visit the rental the first PM stayed at. Yeah they didn't hide how he wasn't a good person but overall pretty cool to see a moment in time. The tour guides were informative.. especially the guy with the mustache and cool tattoos.

Kingston Penitentiary, a renowned maximum-security prison operational from 1830 to 2013, offers tours led by former guards. Visitors can also explore the city of Kingston on charming red trolleys that cover historic sites and share interesting facts about the area's history. The Friends of the Penitentiary Museum are committed to preserving and interpreting Canada's federal penitentiary system's captivating history.
What a great tour and learning experience. Our guide on August 25th 2025 at 2 pm for the extended tour, was absolutely amazing. She’s been there for 7 months and knew so much information and was able to answer so many questions. So professional and so friendly. She even took the time to explain certain areas which were not available for tourists. Do the extended tour much more to see. Definitely worth it!!!
Jamie K — Google review
We signed up for the 1.5 hour tour and had Adam as our tour guide. He was outstanding…enthusiastic, informative, inclusive and engaging. Loved his stories. A perfect voice for a tour guide and so glad that he addressed some of the injustices related to the correctional system of Canada, particularly related to the Indigenous population and those with mental health issues. The four former staff who shared a little about their experience were intriguing…Erich we had longer with them. The tour felt a little rushed…perhaps it should be a two-hour tour. People had to move quickly to keep up. There wasn’t really time for questions of either Adam or the former staff. We also wish we had made time to visit the museum across the road first as it would have enhanced the experience. It is free (donation requested). I also think that it would be good if the organization that runs this experience would have some exhibits to look at or a video…outlining the history of the correction system and how it evolved over the period the penitentiary was open, up until today. Maybe even have a section about how countries all over the world address crime, imprisonment and rehabilitation. It would really help inform the general public about these important topics.

The Express Tour was amazing, the 45 minutes just flew by. After seeing the size of the compound and all the different buildings I'm getting the longer tours would be even better; something to do on my next visit. Our guide Julian and the other security guard (unsure of his name) were both really friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to talk with. If you're interested in the history or location then this is certainly something you shouldn't pass up. Had a great time.

As a former Correctional Officer, I was very interested to see this iconic piece of Canadian history first hand. The tour was excellent as our guide was very knowledgeable. We also spoke with several Correctional Officers who actually worked here. They had interesting stories to tell and were happy to answer our many questions. This tour is a must-see if you are ever in Kingston!
Dan T — Google review
I had the pleasure of attending the extended tour guided by Adam. He was incredibly knowledgeable and very humorous, making the experience more interesting but also light-hearted. As someone that grew up in the area and had relatives that worked in KP as well as surrounding penitentiarys, it was really amazing to walk the grounds and hear more indepth recounts. I will definitely recommend 👌
Angelica R — Google review
Highly recommend! We did the extended tour. Well worth the time and it flew by. Our tour guide David was amazing and knowledgeable. So much history. An incredible adventure indeed!
M M — Google review
Amazing experience with our tour guide Sam! She was very engaging and it was interesting to hear all the stories and see how the corrections system worked in the past. It is truly a unique experience and we got to learn that many shows and movies were filmed here too. Highly recommend visiting!!
Berna S — Google review
I highly recommend the Kingston Penitentiary tour! We opted to take the 1.5-hour tour with our guide, William, and the experience was both fascinating and well-planned. A major highlight for me was discovering how accessible the entire tour is. I use a mobility scooter and had no trouble navigating around the various buildings. The convenience of nearby, free accessible parking was also a huge plus. William was a phenomenal guide, full of information and great stories. What made the tour even more special was meeting former prison guards who shared their firsthand experiences, adding a layer of authenticity you can't get from a textbook.

Embark on a journey through time with Kingston Trolley Tours, where you can hop aboard a charming red trolley to explore the historic sites and attractions of Canada's second-oldest city. Led by knowledgeable guides, the hour-long tour covers significant landmarks such as the Royal Military College, Fort Henry, and Bellevue House, offering insights into Kingston's 300-year-old history.
We had a great time with Kingston Trolley Tours! The weather was perfect, and our guide, Chris, was super informative and easy to listen to. The tour lasted just over an hour and was packed with interesting facts and local history. Definitely worth it if you're visiting Kingston! Just a heads-up—strollers aren’t allowed on the trolley, so bring a carrier if you’ve got little ones. You can hop off at stops or stay on for the full ride. Highly recommend!

I had a great experience on the Kingston Trolley Tour! The tour was both scenic and educational, offering a well-paced overview of the city’s major landmarks and rich history. What really made the ride enjoyable was our tour guide, who was also the driver—he did a fantastic job narrating the city’s story with clarity and enthusiasm. Whether you’re new to Kingston or just want to see the city from a different perspective, this tour is a great choice. Highly recommended.

Had a wonderful tour last night for the ghost experience. Richard was a fantastic tour guide of the spooky Kingston history. The ghost visitors to share their stories were a great addition to the tour and the time flew by! Definitely recommend snapping some photos at the asylum as you never know what or who you will see
Lisa P — Google review
It was super hot when we visited so we opted for the trolley tour over the walking tour. We stayed in the entire tire rather than hop on and hop off as we like to visit the places for longer (which we did on different days). Tour lasted for 75 minutes and provided a lot of information about Kingston. Information was obviously scripted and a bit rote not overall still good. We did find it a bit expensive for what it offered.
Tracy A — Google review
Richard was an informative, friendly driver/guide. Extended the tour by 30 minutes allowing us to see more sites including RMC. Trolley was clean and comfortable. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour.
G H — Google review
We did the ghost trolley tour and our guide Jonathan was great! He was very knowledgeable and funny, shoutout to the performers they also made the experience more unique and fun. I would definitely recommend doing this tour!!

We bought the 48 k-pass so we could hop on and hop off during the trolley route. The guides were really informative and kind. The kids and even myself loved riding in a trolley and discovering new places.

It was interesting gallery, but I’m not sure if it is still open currently.

Great artwork on display. During the time of our visit, only 1 exhibit was open. It was dedicated to showcasing famous Canadian Indeginous/Inuit art. Other parts of the gallery were closed for renovations. Ticket purchases were not required put rather a donation to the gallery is required. We donated $20
Tino S — Google review
First off, you can go to this place for free. They have really good selection of art. Modern, contemporary, historic. Bader gallery where Rembrandt and company was displayed was our favorite. Covid protocols are being followed, masks and sanitizers are available for everyone. House of Agnes was beautifully decorated. You could easily spend hours here. The whole place was sparkling clean and well appointed. The staff were all friendly and courteous. Can't wait to bring my daughters here.
Elhgyne A — Google review
This gallery really doesn't want visitors from off campus. I brought my kids here today and you are not allowed to park behind the building or anywhere nearby except in 1 spot that was occupied. I called and was told the one spot had opened but when I went to it my car was too big and it is only a Ford fusion. I loved the quilt collection and other works when I lived on campus years ago but am not able to visit now, very disappointing.

I adore the outside mural walls with Rosie, Dino and Kazoo!

An absolute disappointment. The temporary space is a single room. The work was limited and uninspiring. Attendant was uninformed about the off-site spaces.

Poor use of space I wish it has pieces and was bigger I find it odd the pieces they choose to put in the gallery to display often don't project what they are trying to say.

Kingston 1000 Islands Cruises offers a variety of sightseeing and dining tours to cater to different cruising preferences. The company introduced the WildCat, a high-speed catamaran that provides thrilling two-hour AdrenIsland cruises showcasing views of Boldt and Singer Castles, as well as one-hour Singer Castle Express cruises. For those who prefer traditional tours, options include the 1.5-hour Jewels of the St.
We had such a wonderful time celebrating our 17th wedding anniversary last night. Dylan (our server) was so amazing. He was seriously the best server we have ever had. We wish him the best of luck when he returns to BC for his studies. It truly was an amazing night on our Sunset cruise. This was our second time and it was the best so far!!

Took the 1000 Islands Dinner Cruise recently—great overall experience, but a few things to keep in mind. I was disappointed not to get a window table. Apparently, there is a premium upgrade for those, but it wasn’t offered to me—possibly because I was traveling solo. Still, it would’ve been nice to have the option, especially when scenic views are a big part of the experience. Doug, our guide and onboard entertainment, was excellent—fun facts, quirky island stories, and even real estate tips on the incredible homes we sailed past. He kept things engaging and light throughout the evening. The 3-course meal was solid: • Salad was fresh and simple—arugula, cranberries, feta. • Braised short rib was nicely presented and tasty, though the carrots were so undercooked they nearly qualified as raw. Knife said “nope.” • Cheesecake for dessert—classic and very tasty. Craft beer selection was a nice surprise, and the pre-meal bread and butter hit the spot. The air conditioning was intense—I had to wear my jacket during lunch, and some guests used menus to block the vents. Pro tip: layer up. Big plus: the upper deck is perfect for photos and catching views if you’re not lucky enough to sit by the window. Would I do it again? Maybe! Especially to impress a guest. But next time I’d definitely request the window table upgrade, go for the fancier appetizer, and share a nice bottle of wine.

Amazing cruise, lots of history and great views. 3hr cruise is worth it. Staff are very friendly. Go early to line up for cruise to get a good seat upstairs. Boat has lots of steps, main level has seating and no steps. Boat has a mc + music sharing facts about surrounding areas.

My partner and I went on the 3-hour 1000 Islands lunch cruise aboard the Island Queen ship from Kingston, and we had such a great time! The entire experience was smooth, scenic, and so well organized. We booked the option that includes a 3-course lunch, and as vegans (plant-based diet), we were honestly impressed by the quality and thoughtfulness of the menu. We started with a fresh salad, followed by a delicious main dish with cabbage and black beans, and ended with a rich vegan chocolate dessert that was just perfect. Our server, Jack, made us feel super welcome and taken care of the entire time. Lunch is served on the second deck with reserved seating, we had a lovely window spot, which made the views even better. There was also live music on the first floor. One of the highlights for us was the tour guide, David More. He’s a fantastic storyteller and so knowledgeable about the region. We were lucky to be seated close to him and could follow along as he shared fascinating stories about the islands, their history, and the families that once lived (or still live!) there. He's also a writer and had some of his books onboard, we even picked one up! The time flew by, especially when we got near Gananoque, cruising through clusters of islands dotted with cabins, mansions, and cottages. I’d 100% recommend this tour, whether you're visiting Kingston or live nearby, it’s a fun, delicious, and enriching way to spend an afternoon. You won’t notice the hours go by!
Julieta C — Google review
It was a nice experience. Ywo decks. Two small kiosks are available on each deck, serving snacks and beverages. Of course, at an extra cost. The attendants were pleasant to taking orders and serving. The tour was for three hours, which was a bit of a stretch. After an hour and a half, guests started talking amongst themselves. No one was paying much attention to the voice-over narration or seeing outside of the boat. Two hours should be more than enough.
Shaik R — Google review
Canadian friends invited us to Kingston 1000 Islands Cruises and to visit the coast of Kingston. There are nine unique bunkers in Canada, and Kingston has four of them. The weather was good and didn't rain, but it was cold. In addition, we met a group of children doing outdoor teaching that was a little noisy.
MC C — Google review
It was a pleasant trip...lots to see with some good background info...with a singer and guitar player wandering the decks proving some additional entertainment.. We booked the scenic cruise but dinner and cocktail cruises are available...
William P — Google review
I've been on 3 cruises this summer using my Kingston Residents Pass, the 3 hr Heart of the Islands tour, the shipwreck tour and the 1 hr discovery tour. The 3 hr tour and 1 hr tours were both great, the shipwreck one was a waste of time. The 3hr tour takes you through alot of the 1000 Islands, up to Gananoque and back to Kingston, you see a lot of private islands and cottages as well the Kingston harbour. Very relaxed and lovely. One hr tour was mostly focused in the area close to Kingston, this tour was more busy but definitely still good. Not quite as good as the 3 hr tour but if this is all the time you can afford, it's still worth it. The shipwreck tour was the worst out of the 3. It was a very similar route to the 1 hour tour and we assumed we'd be able to see shipwrecks, but you can't. You don't get close to most of them and some you bypass completely. Maybe it was silly of me to think I could see a shipwreck from above the water but I guess that's what comes with calling it a Shipwreck cruise. They have someone from a museum doing the talking and she seemed quite knowledgeable but they relied heavily on the use of pre recorded videos of dives, which I saw absolutely none of. The cruise was busy and I was unable to get a seat in view of the tv screen, which depending on how the sunlight is hitting it or the numerous technical difficulties they were having, wouldn't have been able to see much anyway. I'm glad I didn't pay for it due to my residents pass but I definitely felt bad for the tourists I was speaking with who did. So to sum up- both the 3 hour or 1 hour sightseeing cruises were good and worth it, but don't bother with the shipwreck cruise, unless you're just happy to be on the water on a small ship, which is still pleasant in itself.

My husband and I did the tour on Friday night this weekend. Liam was our guide, and I have to say it was an incredible evening! So much knowledge was imparted to us in the time that we spent on the ship and I truly loved the experience. The staff was ready to answer any questions we had, and I have to say that the night truly exceeded my expectations. Thank you all for such a great time!

Guide (Liam) was excellent. Tour was interesting with lots of ghost haunting stories. We went on the ship out of Kingston build during the Titanic era and the ship itself was amazing to see. It was hot on the boat (they didn't have air conditioning back then!) so I would suggest bringing a hand fan and bottle of cold water. They were kind enough to give us a bottle of water in the gift shop and just asked if we wouldn't mind leaving a donation but it wasn't mandatory. They didn't have water for sale in the gift shop. I would suggest they add a vending machine or small fridge with water for sale. I think the girl actually gave us staff water (it had an initial on the top). I was very grateful as the ship was very hot. The set up in the ship was very good with each of the guest rooms set up in a different passenger theme. The guide gave us enough time to check out all the different areas. I would recommend this tour and am going to be looking for others from this company. Thanks for a great night on my birthday celebration weekend!

We had fun taking the haunted walk tour through Kingston last night with the lovely Savanna. She was very kind, courteous, knowledgeable and made sure to keep us all safe during the walk. I loved all of the creepy tales. My favourite was about “the most haunted parking lot…” I definitely would recommend!

We loved our Haunted Walk in Kingston. Our guide Allison was amazing! Allison was very knowledgeable, engaging and an amazing story teller. She added humour to some of her stories and chatted with everyone on the group and listened to their stories. I would totally recommend and I hope to do a few more of these!

What a great experience. Liam our tour guide provided a very informative and fun evening. It was nice to have a look into the past and imagine what it would have been like to voyage on the Keewatin. We will definitely go again on one of the regular tours to gain even more info and a different perspective. I highly recommend this tour, two thumbs up👍🏻👍🏻

A fantastic experience on a beautiful boat, with a guide who made all the difference! Allison was a wonderful tour guide whose knowledge, passion, enthusiasm, and dramatic edge, helped to create the perfect tour for a "spooky" cooler and slightly rainy evening. We are still not sure how the window in the drawing room rattled, moved, and then opened and closed (was it the wind? Perhaps...perhaps not!). Thank you, Haunted Walk and Allison, for a wonderful night! Can't recommend highly enough!

We had a great experience at this Haunted Walk. Amy was our guide and she was awesome. I loved hearing the different stories from each stop along the way. I like the cloak and lantern that the guides have, it just adds to a spooky atmosphere.

My friend and I did the haunted walk at the SS Keewatin. Our host was fantastic and very engaging. The stories being told gave me goosebumps and really set the mood. It was great to explore the ship after dark and soak in the history. Would highly recommend. Caught this creepy photo in one of the rooms. Looks like two glowing eyes

Nestled in the heart of downtown Kingston, Kingston City Hall is a stunning example of 19th-century neoclassical architecture that has stood since its construction in 1844. Once the seat of the Province of Canada, this grand building features an impressive domed clock tower designed by architect George Browne. Visitors can embark on guided tours to explore its captivating interior, including the breathtaking Memorial Hall adorned with stained glass windows honoring Canadian contributions during World War I.
My son and I spent 2 days walking all over the town of kingston. What a cool place right on the bank of lake ontario. Lots of cool buildings and museums. The most restaurants I've ever seen in a small area. Great place for a weekend getaway. Several cool bars and breweries to. Princess street is the main street to go down.

I went on one of the free tours of Kingston City Hall. It was a lovely informative tour! My only complaint is that though there are dozens of huge portraits of male mayors hung up on every wall, Dr Jenny Trout (the first woman physician licensed in Canada that taught at the first women’s college of medicine which was in the city hall building) only has a plaque on a small side wall. Where’s the portrait!?

A beautiful and historic landmark in the heart of Kingston! The architecture is stunning — especially the dome and the clock tower. The surrounding area is very lively, with parks, the waterfront, and market square nearby. Great spot for photos, relaxing walks, or learning about the city’s past. A must-see if you're visiting Kingston!

Visited Kingston City Hall during my recent trip, and even just seeing it from the outside was an experience worth noting! 🏛️✨ The architecture is stunning — grand, historic, and beautifully maintained. The waterfront location adds to its appeal, making it a perfect spot for a stroll or some quick photos. 📸🌊 A must-see stop if you’re exploring downtown — majestic, picturesque, and full of history! ❤️

Kingston is really suitable for City Walk! Kingston is a historic city with a history of more than 200 years. You can feel the traces of its history in every corner of this city. 🤔 It seems that after more than 200 years of historical accumulation, walking in this city always feels leisurely and comfortable. 😋 By the lake, you can see people enjoying the sunshine comfortably 🌞, on the road you can see Ding Ding cars carrying people enjoying the charm of this city☺️, and you can also see buildings after buildings washed away by history but with their own unique charm Buildings🧐, you can see Kingston’s kindness and love for people everywhere. Taking an aimless City walk here is probably the best way to express my love for it. 😘 So, are you ready for a city walk full of love in Kingston? 🥰

Kingston Waterfront is a classic landmark offering a magnificent view of Lake Ontario. The 8km waterfront pathway provides ample space to enjoy the beauty and is conveniently located near downtown. Heading west along the pathway leads to Breakwater Park, known for its stunning sunset views. This picturesque area features parkland, level trails, and connects several top attractions in Kingston.
What an amazing place and waterfront! I wish Belleville could have something close to what Kingston has. There is so much more to do, and the waterfront trail is perfect. You can see Old Fort Henry and so much more. We'll be back soon, and I would recommend this place to everyone 💯. Give it a try, and you won't be disappointed!

Very cozy little town, filled with good vibes and great music when we went. Make sure to check the public market as well for artisans products and fresh produce. The waterfront is really relaxing whether you want to take the view in with a coffee or simply enjoying a good book on one of the beach chairs.

Beautiful 😍 The whole area is wonderful. There are a lot of restaurants and so many nice people. If you are into walking along the waterfront, then this is a must. It is not an area with attractions but it's clean and very upbeat. There's are a LOT of students, so the noise level is way up there. If you don't like it loud and very busy, they go during the week because the weekend is crazy. Great for drone footage, too. I will definitely visit again.

Canada's Penitentiary Museum, also known as the Correctional Service of Canada Museum, is a must-visit attraction in Kingston. Located across from the famous Kingston Penitentiary, the museum offers a unique insight into Canadian correctional history. Visitors can explore artifacts and exhibits showcasing the role of Kingston in the country's prison system. The museum is housed in Cedarhedge, once the residence of the warden of Kingston Penitentiary.
As a museum is very interesting. Free access. As a human I had a very strange feeling about pain and horror people went through being locked in that environment. The museum itself is very impressive. Many documents, artifacts, all the history of the part of the reality we normally do not see. Thank you, people for this collections and stories.

Wow, what a thrilling experience touring Canada's Penitentiary in Kingston! Walking through those walls truly gave a chilling sense of how inmates lived. The visuals and descriptions of the famous riot were shockingly intense. Hearing real-time accounts from the staff was incredibly engaging and informative. The guides were absolutely the best, bringing history to life!
Saju H — Google review
Stopped by hear earlier in the day to learn about some of the history before my KP tour later in the day. The staff were all really friendly and easy to talk to. Spent about an hour here and had a great time. Admission is donation based and they also have a small gift shop. We gave $20 for 2 people and also got a pin at the shop which I hope was acceptable.
Sparkling I — Google review
Good museum to see, entrance by donation. About 8 rooms to explore. If you have done the Penitentiary across the way this museum is just rounding off your visit. Penitentiary itself is way more exciting. But this one is good for a rainy day. Was expecting more original artifacts and real recollection of what has happened. Give no insight into the female Penitentiary. Disciplinary methods used in the prison is interesting though. History depicted is all prisons over Canada not just Kingston.
Liezl U — Google review
Oh this is a must a few years ago did the penitentiary tour was amazing. This place was even more amazing all the cool items to see from the penitentiary the bell that broke in the 1971 riot is there really a must check entry is by donation which is amazing to.
Paul C — Google review
The place is still free but donations is highly encouraged (contact less is the fastest way to go) Has a lot of exhibits to look at and I like that they have sample exhibits of the jail and the common items you'd find in one (the Penitentiary across the street did not have this) Highly supplements the tour from the Penitentiary though and you get to understand the history more by going to both these places.
Vanne S — Google review
Cool house full of history. The exhibits are incredibly interesting as a slice of prison life. Make-shift weapons, knives, escape tools, fake heads, incredible, how inventive inmates were. Admission is via donations, so that makes it a excellent must visit.

Martello Alley is a captivating art gallery located in the historic downtown of Kingston, Ontario. The alleyway has been transformed into a vibrant space filled with colorful murals and imaginative installations, reminiscent of Quebec's rue du Tresor. Visitors can explore a curated collection of artwork including paintings, sculptures, stained glass, and more by local artists such as Pat Shea and M.P. Tully.
I got a little cardinal sun catcher ornament. And a cute postcard. And they give complimentary post cards when you get anything. The owner was very nice. He walked me to their other store location. He was very helpful and friendly. Thank you. Cute Canadian local art store. Various art forms. Lovely collection. Lovely nook and vibe.

+ unique, and beautiful art alley + Rich with history and connected with nature + Friendly and knowledgeable owners + This is literally the definition of 'buy local' + Variety of art (photography, paintings, sculptures) -owners should offer food/beverages to enjoy the alley - they have socials down but need to market aggressively in the tourism sector - work together with the university to attract more students. TL;DR If you're in the Kingston area you need to check out Martello Alley for it's fresh take on the city with beautiful art.

I visited this place in the day of Christmas. The entire alley was renovated by a family. I loved the outlook of the alley. Everyone’s opinion and perspective might be different but personally it reminded me of Harry Potter (On Christmas). Though most of the stores around were closed for Christmas. This alley was open and it took us around 15-30mins only to cover the whole place. It’s actually a store where they sell art made in Kingston. It may not be the best art but worth the visit to embrace handmade art. It’s free of cost without any entry fee.

Great place to be close to nature. Multiple trails to hike. Remember to take some birds seed along, you can even feed some friendly strangers. Restrooms are primitive, take your own TP. Multiple picnic tables on route. Great place to hike.

Took my fiance here to see the scenery and animals. Spent most of our time feeding squirrels and chipmunks. Good to see the chipmunks are so used to being fed, they took the peanuts right from her hand, with the last one pretty aggressively taking it! 😂🤣🤣 Can't wait for a next visit. She'd go every day if we lived closer. 😁👍

A great place to go for a walk There are quite a few trail choices depending on how long you want to go. I love taking the trail along the shoreline with dips thru the forest. Tons of creatures like squirrels, chipmunks, turkey vultures and small birds line the trail paths.

Want to feel like Snow White when furry forest creatures appear out of nowhere at your presence, This is the place! A beautiful park full of wildlife you can practically hand feed. Bring a container to hold seed for the turkeys, they're really gobblers! I still have all my fingers, I just wasn't expecting a 25 lb bird to materialize out of nowhere expecting yo be fed like everything else 🤷‍♂️ Plenty of shade and lots of benches along the way so you can pace yourself accordingly.

By far one of the best places in Kingston to come for a hike. 5 different trails, 1&5 tend to be your most crowded on busy days. It is a great place to interact with wild life. Bring bird seed and nuts if you wanna take some cool pictures. The squirrels literally come up to my service dog to great us, I LOVE IT

We did the big loop. A nice gravel trail between the woods, through the meadow and along the shore of Ontario Lake. It's not what I'd normally consider as a hike but it was a nice and easy walk with some views of the lake and plenty of wild life. The trail is in a very good shape but it was quite buggy. For about half of the walk the trail was largely exposed. Enjoy!

A fantastic treasure trove of Canadian military radio and communication history. Very text heavy museum but with fantastic display pieces. I easily spent nearly three hours in the museum but could have spent probably another hour. Very polite staff and a very affordable price with not too many people when I visited. It may not be for everyone but if you have any kind of interest in this stuff then this place is a must visit for you. There's so much here you could probably visit a second time even!

Made the mistake of arriving here a little too late and ended up with only about an hour before they closed. There's so much stuff to see and read to learn about all the different types of communication and electronics from over the years. Nestled in the heart of Kingston, the Kingston Grand Theatre stands as a vibrant testament to the city’s rich artistic heritage, boasting nearly 150 years of captivating performances. This historic venue has been a cornerstone of the local arts scene since its inception in 1902, hosting an impressive array of events that range from ballet and modern dance to theatre productions and comedy shows.
We have seen a few shows here recently and really enjoyed the venue and the entertainers. We've sat in various areas of the orchestra section and always had great views of the stage. Seats were comfortable. You can bring your drink to your seat.

I love this historic theatre venue. Staff are helpful and friendly. Seating is comfortable. I usually enjoy the shows except for the Tina Tribute. The lead was good but some members of the band were not even close to what the song should be especially the saxophone player. The back up dancing was basic and redundant. I hope the Grand screens the quality of the tribute shows more. I left at intermission.

Beautiful theatre, very helpful & friendly staff... & theatre seating is comfortable. Lounge areas offer wonderfully comfy seating as well, just wonder if there should be a little more of it. My husband and I attended the Gord Bamford concert last night. A lady in front of us wore too much perfume. My husband had to leave our seats as it causes him migraines. The staff was very understanding and ushered us to other seats. Luckily there were others to choose from. Perfumes are toxic to some people. I wish the Grand had a no scent policy so all could enjoy the events without getting sick. The ushers were terrific. Thanks to them it turned out to be a fabulous anniversary date.

Awful experience!!! Do NOT RECOMMEND this venue. James barker band and have staff harassing teenagers saying they are not allowed to video. Meanwhile James Barker band posted on their socials please upload videos and them. Having 3 women be relentless about not videoing. Appalling!!! 3 different reasons given. On Tuesday evenings, guests can enjoy live jazz music while dining. Olivea's ambiance is enhanced by plenty of natural light from its large windows, creating a comfortable and beautiful setting for enjoying authentic Italian meals.
It was spectacular! Probably the best Italian restaurant I've been to. The appetizers, the main and the dessert were awesome! The complementary olive oil and bread they brought us was heavenly. The Pinot Grigio was so crisp and just out of this world. Our server Montana made it a great dining experience for us. We asked many questions and she was attentive, patient and kind throughout the evening. Will definitely come back and recommend to all my friends.

One of the best Italian restaurants in Kingston! The food is very flavourful and big portions. The seafood linguine had a very seafoody flavour to it. Could not stop eating the truffle fries. And the salad was very fresh. Topped dinner of with a crème brûlée which was delicious. Our server was so sweet can back many times to check on us and the food.

Great service! The seafood linguini was amazing. Oysters were just okay. The calamari and steak were a bit salty in some bites, maybe the seasoning wasn’t even. But overall, super happy that we got a table so quickly on a Saturday night without reservation
Yu Y — Google review
It’s a hard pass for me. The servers were the worst I’ve seen in Kingston. Everyone was unfriendly and seems stressed. They did not seem to understand that a large group of Queen’s Students and their families might be a little fluid. My server could not wrap her head around an Espresso Martini with Tequila instead of Vodka. She was muttering under her breath often at our table when people moved around after just sitting. We seemed like an annoyance. Food was ok. Tiramisu was average. Garlic scampi was good. I would never return or recommend this place.
Crabby E — Google review
This is my favourite restaurant in the whole world! When I went to school in Kingston my family and I would go to eat here every chance we got. Now that I've left Kingston I still find every chance I can to come and eat at Olivea. In particular I absolutely adore the caeser salad, the carpaccio, the spicy aglio olio with steak and their cosmopolitan! The ambiance inside this restaurant is perfectly curated, with the comfiest seats I've seen and a million different beautiful things to look at while you dine. I will forever rave about this restaurant and suggest it to anyone who will listen. Not to mention I always enjoy the service that I receive no matter the occasion. I highly highly recommend this restaurant :)
Ruby M — Google review
The atmosphere was great. Food was amazing. The tiramisu was divine. Omg. The gnocchi was the best I've ever had. We also got the aglio e olio with the steak. Warning it was quite spicy so if you can't do spicy stay away from this dish. But if you do it's nice.
Denis L — Google review
TLDR: I’ve been here several times over the past 10 years for dinner and always enjoyed my meal. Went for lunch recently to celebrate a friend’s birthday, was not impressed and will think twice before returning. Party of four. A friend made the reservation for a birthday celebration. Three of us ordered the Olivea burger, one with fries and two with soup, and I forget what the fourth person ordered. Two burgers arrived, but the third did not. We had to let the server know one was missing. They apologized and said it would be out in about five minutes; it was closer to ten. When it finally arrived, we were told a discount would be applied. However, a $3 discount on a $24 burger and soup combo didn’t feel like much of a gesture given the delay, but since I wasn’t the one who made the reservation, I didn’t want to make a fuss. As for the food, the burger was extremely well done and dry. The soup was tasty, as were the bread with oil and balsamic vinegar. In fact, the bread and the panelle were the highlights of the meal. And I have to echo another reviewer, our birthday guest received a small cup of whipped cream with a candle in it. It’s nice that they acknowledge birthdays, but it did feel a bit underwhelming.

We finally made it to this amazing tower and piece of local history. It was much bigger than it seems from the outside. It was a self guided tour. So we could take our time enjoying it. If You are passing or staying in Kingston stop by. It’s worth it.

This is both a National Historic Site of Canada and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is one of four Martello Towers in the Kingston area, and the only one open to the public. The exhibits include three 32-pounder cannons, muskets, uniforms and other military artifacts. Staff are knowledgeable and very friendly.
Dan T — Google review
Great little piece of nicely preserved Canadian historical architecture. It’s technically free to get in but they take donations (suggested is $5). NOTE: there are 3 levels and the stairs to get up or down are very narrow.
Neil T — Google review
Great place to visit. A little donation is all that it takes to keep this place on its feet.

Great little museum with a lot of history and fun facts. Definitely take up on the free tour guide option. Jimmy who was out your guide did an amazing job and made this a very informative and enjoyable experience. The surrounding area is very beautiful as well!

This site is simple and small. It would hardly take 15-30 mins to look inside and out. There is no tickets for entry but they accept donations. A site to link the Kingston's history, but there wasn't anything much interesting. This is not wheelchair accessible, but enough parking available and a beautiful lakefront to spend some time.

Slush Puppie Place is a vibrant venue that offers an array of entertainment options, making it a must-visit for both locals and tourists. This lively spot hosts various events, including concerts and engaging talks featuring notable personalities. It also serves as the home ground for local sports teams, providing fans with an exciting atmosphere to cheer on their favorites. The spacious layout ensures that large crowds can comfortably gather, whether it's for a thrilling hockey game or a memorable concert experience.
My inaugural visit to this arena in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, was truly unforgettable. It was a highly exhilarating and enjoyable evening spent sharing a fantastic game with friends and families of Lifestyle Home Products.

It's a bit pricey but a ton of fun. The facility is great and hockey lives here. We had a great time there tonight. They did a great job entertaining us. I definitely recommend going. This is exciting hockey!
Brian S — Google review
The AC here is excellent, which makes watching a game very comfortable, especially on hot days. The arena is well maintained and clean, and the staff are always kind and professional, which really adds to the experience. The only drawback is that the seating feels quite small and close together, so it can get a bit cramped during busy events. Overall, though, it’s a solid venue with great atmosphere, friendly service, and everything kept in good shape.
Dantheman R — Google review
Seen 5440 and Foreigner.. the show was good. Didn't enjoy that there is no on site parking. The seats are so hard and uncomfortable. Drinks and food...overpriced for whats offered.

Managing Type 1 Diabetes for a 5-year-old is challenging, and constant access to water and food is essential for his safety. Despite his backpack being filled with medical supplies and clearly marked with medical alert tags, staff required us to dump his water at the door. Their suggestion to refill it inside is not acceptable in a medical situation where immediate access is critical. Denying basic medical accommodations puts people at risk, and the Ontario Human Rights Code and AODA take precedence over any venue policy. I hope management reviews this and improves staff training on medical accessibility.
Tyler B — Google review
What a great place to watch a comedian, hockey 🏒 or a concert. This was an amazing experience with Jim Jefferies as one of my favorite comedians in a smaller venue than going to Toronto or Ottawa 💯. The new arena is amazing compared to what I grew up watching the Kingston Generals as a kid. Great place to watch anyone without going to a major city, and it's a beautiful town. I highly recommend giving this place and town a try 💯.

Nestled in the heart of Kingston, the PumpHouse stands as a remarkable testament to Canada's industrial heritage. This historic museum, housed in a 19th-century pumping station, invites visitors to explore its fascinating collection of steam-powered machinery and interactive exhibits. Established in 1851 to combat devastating fires and cholera outbreaks, it is recognized as Canada’s oldest original waterworks and one of only six surviving facilities of its kind in North America.
Had great time with family and kids. Awesome train set and dinosaur hunting got to tuch real dinosaur bone
Jaspreet S — Google review
There is not much to do at this museum. Yes , they added the dinosaurs exposition, which, in my opinion, has nothing to do with a Pumphouse. Plus, there is a lot of reading which my kids are too young. They have a section in the back with model trains, but again, I don't see the relevance with Pumphouse.
Cristine G — Google review
A great museum that offers fascinating information about Kingstons early days of providing water to the city. Entrance fee price was fair. It is a bit on the shorter side but still information rich with a lovely train model section. Worth a visit for sure.
Patrick B — Google review
The new exhibit "Soil Superheroes" is absolutely amazing! Very family/kid friendly with different things to touch and great visuals, but also enough detailed information to capture the attention of adults as well. Well worth visiting for the exhibit alone! Not to mention the model train room and the entire pump house itself!

Good Museum, train scale models were worth seeing, good place for kids.

It is not free to enter AND you must pay for parking which makes it a lower star however I gave a highest star because of the importance of understanding the information learned. What made it 5 star was the connection they honoured with indegenous people. I hope in the future more detail can be shared about indegenous people but for now I love the art exhibit combined with the water history of Kingston. It is also hosted a seperate exhibit about dinasaurs. This was included in the price. Also there is park area where you can take a walk along the water so this made it an extra special experience!

Its well-maintained grounds offer amenities like a half-mile track, off-leash dog park, and outdoor water park during summer. Additionally, it features EV charging stations and serves as a hotspot for Pokemon Go enthusiasts.
They have bathrooms for everyone which is nice because alot of places around the memorial center have no where to go. You can also shower if you are homeless and have no where to shower. Just make sure you pay. But sometimes you get lucky. And can sneak in for a quick shower. Lol. It's better then sweating in this heat. Ew my first summer here I felt so gross.

A charming Indie Movie Theatre! They have an excellent selection of screenings with old to new movies. They take feedback on what people want to watch. Their popcorn is an absolute must try! I've never had popcorn so delicious. We went back to watch movies just to eat their popcorn while enjoying a good film. Popped with coconut oil, they top it with real butter for free! Lots of beverage options at the front as well, including local breweries, hot beverages served in mugs, and your classic pop. Small section for their merchandise. They offer memberships thet give you discounts on movie tickets, which are an absolute steal, especially if you're a student. Can be purchased online or in-person. Spectacular. Amazing acoustics and stunning facility. A pleasure to attend performances here. Video projection could be improved for multimedia and film presentations. The chintzy screen does not do this facility justice. Perhaps a screen that extends the width and length of the back wall would mirror the quality of performance audio built into this facility.

I had my wedding at the Isabel Bader, and was absolutely thrilled with both the venue and the staff. The building itself is absolutely stunning, and the view of the lake from inside and from the patio is unbeatable. One of the reasons we chose this venue is that both the patio and the inside option for the ceremony (which ended up being our back-up option in case of rain) were equally gorgeous. The reception area is spacious and beautifully lit. Brittany and Lisa, as well as the rest of the staff, were fantastic. They answered all our questions leading up to the day and ensured that everything ran smoothly on the day of. They coordinated everything seamlessly so we never had to worry about anything and could just relax and have fun! They are also great with dietary restrictions, including celiac disease, and the food was delicious. We received many similar comments about the venue and staff from our guests. Highly recommend!

April 2023 What a beautiful venue to experience the sound of the Kingston Symphony Orchestra. The wood interior and the sound is amazing in this concert hall. A spectacular concert, and a crowd pleasing friendly and well-liked conductor. The lobby area is bright because of the floor to ceiling windows and a view of Lake Ontario. My first time here, and I will be back again. Many different shows are performed here, so check their website.

World class venue with cutting-edge facilities. The Isabel Bader Centre is clearly one of the most beautiful art centres amidst all of Canada. The performance hall alone should be noted as one of the nicest halls of its size in North America - unbelievable accoustics, stunning visuals, and an intimate space with smaller seating area. This venue is an absolute fairy tale for anything and everything classical music, especially when it comes to chamber music. I can’t recommend coming here enough, both as an audience member and (if it applies to you) as a performer! Glorious space and Kingston is lucky to have it!

Nice place to visit. High point was feeding chickadees. There is a section of trail specifically labeled as a chickadee feeding area. If you bring black oil sunflower seeds, place some in your outstretched hand, and stand still, they will land on your hand and take seeds. They are still timid and cautious, but my 6 and 11 year olds both found great success feeding them. They were delighted

We came to Kingston to see a concert at the Spire, which is a converted church. Next day, on our way home, we were looking for a place that the two of us could enjoy our coffee and treats. Very surprised to see the”Park”- which is only 10 hectares smaller than Vancouver’s Stanley Park.! This is a conservation park so unspoiled Our first time there (from Orleans ON) but now we have a nature spot to visit next time. We are interested in trying out the trail walk. We waited for a few minutes and a Heron landed followed by other birds popping up - too far away to identify but we could see the colours. Kingston is lucky to have this area. They seem to run quite a lot of nature programs. Pancake seasons sounds like a good time to visit! We enjoyed our new quiet coffee spot.

A great place to rent an e-bike. Andrew the owner was helpful and polite. At $20/hr it was the most economical option in the area and he had bikes available same day. They offered bike locks, helmets and bungee cords with the rental. One of our bikes was perfect, the other didn't so as much as an assist (seemed to be an older white model). My other half got a workout. The young people working there were willing to help and paid attention to detail. They gave us maps and suggestions on where to go. Parking was an issue as there alot of road restrictions and the small parking lot was full. $1.50/hour if you found a spot. There is another lot 10 minute walk, but its $2/hour. The bike path itself is confusing, it ends at a strange spot, puts you on a major road and back on the water again. The signs are really not clear (not Ahoys fault). But the area is beautiful. They rent kayaks and other water stuff too.

Great place to rent bikes! Andrew was super friendly and it’s only $8/hr (with helmets). Steve gave us a fun 1-hour tour, set up by Tyler from Smith’s Business School. They’ve also got kayaks and other water gear—prices are in my photo.

Had a fantastic experience with Ahoy Rentals as part of our 24-hour K-Pass! We received a complimentary two-hour bike rental and couldn’t have asked for better service. Andrew and his team were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive to all our needs. The bikes were in great shape and perfect for exploring Kingston’s beautiful waterfront trail. Highly recommend Ahoy for anyone looking to add a fun and scenic ride to their visit!

Unfortunately I did not have a good experience with the sailing lesson - the lesson did not feel organized and would have benefitted greatly from some structure and proactive teaching as opposed to the feeling of just winging everything. I’d recommend other options in the area specifically for sailing lessons as the owner Andrew does not seem willing to prioritize this offering and the instructor wasn’t set up well to teach

The Engine 1095 museum is a large and beautiful train engine located in front of City Hall by the waterfront. It is a great site for young children and daughter enjoyed it very much. The engine has been well maintained and is an amazing sight.
This beautifully restored old train sits proudly in front of Kingston City Hall and adds a special character to the area. Kids love getting close and climbing the little stairs, and it makes for a perfect photo stop during your walk. The surrounding park is clean and vibrant, making it a great place to take a short break and enjoy a bit of local history.

This train is free to visit, and has a few free parking spots. It's hard to miss seeing the Engine 1095, as it's located just by the visitor centre, behind the Kingston sign. It was very clean here, and not crowded at all when we visited on a weekend afternoon. Plus, there's even a miniature version of the train in front of the Kingston sign. It's very cute! The Engine 1095 is an amazing landmark, marking the history of the railway industry and technology in the 19th century. 🚂

It's a beautiful spot for a sunny weekend. 2 hours drive from Toronto you can take transit as well. Check out for any events it's a bonus. If you drive there is a fort to visit don't miss it.

Came across Engine 1095 while exploring downtown Kingston — such a cool historic landmark! 🚂✨ The restored steam locomotive looks amazing up close and is a great tribute to the city’s railway heritage. It’s located right by Confederation Park and City Hall, making it an easy and worthwhile stop for photos and a quick look at Kingston’s past. A must-see for history and train enthusiasts alike! 🚆📸

Engine 1095 is a very cool looking and large train engine in front of City Hall by the waterfront. I'm not sure why this landmark shouldn't get a 5 star rating. This is a great site for young children; My daughter enjoyed it very much.

Great attractions for kids. They loved to see small an big trains. The place is nicely maintained and not very busy. Kids can take pics. There is small train model in the front side and kids can stand inside. The other one in the back is huge. Don't forgot to take photo from the front side.
Jaspal S — Google review
Engine 1095 is the “Spirit of Sir John A.”, named after the first PM of Canada. Both the train engine and Sir John A. Macdonald originally hailed from Kingston. Built in 1913, this train engine was returned to Kingston after service in 1966 and recently restored in 2013. It is an impressive photo-op spot, just don’t stand onto the train! We saw many new students celebrating their Queens University graduation by this spot. There is also a smaller replica for kids to play in front of the Kingston sign nearby.

The Great Lakes Museum, formerly known as the Marine Museum of the Great Lakes, is a modest yet fascinating museum located at the Portsmouth Olympic Harbour in Kingston. Established by local divers in 1975 to preserve shipwreck artifacts, it now forms part of the National Historic Site of the Kingston Dry Docks. The museum offers insights into Kingston's maritime heritage and its connection to the Great Lakes through exhibits on shipwrecks, lighthouses, ecosystems, and water quality.
I had a friend visiting from out of town and decided to purchase a couple of premium tickets to tour the Keewatin as a form of entertainment. We visited the museum and took in the sights before heading out on a 90 minute guided tour. We were not disappointed. We learned a great deal about history and in particular this Cruise Ship built in Scotland in 1907. Our tour escort was friendly, well informed and we had a chance to inspect and learn about the upper levels of the ship. Museum staff were also friendly and helpful. All in all it was a great experience and one we would recommend to anyone with an interest in early transportation, history and Canadiana. Parking was just outside the Museum and free.
Bob W — Google review
We came from Montreal just for the Keewatin. We did the passenger experience tour. We loved the tour so much, we couldn’t get enough. We should have bought tickets for the engine room. Guess we will have to come back! The exhibits were beautifully staged with attention to detail and accuracy. Our tour guides went above and beyond both during the tour and afterwards.

Exceptional! Did the 45 minute Keewatin ship tour. Mya was a fantastic tour guide with lots of info & willing to answer all our questions. The ship is such a special piece of living history. Museum admission included with ship ticket. Museum has great exhibits - informative and beautifully displayed. Good interaction for young visitors. Highly recommend!!

Very informative and enjoyable tour of the S.S. Keewatin, a decommissioned steam ship built in 1907. Most Edwardian steamships have been scrapped so this old girl is unique. She has been beautifully restored and the guides are very knowledgeable. We did the engine tour as well as the tour of the passenger areas, and both were excellent. Visiting the museum proper is included in the cost of the ticket. This museum was an excellent way to spend a rainy afternoon.
Lauren B — Google review
The tour of the engine room was short but impressive. Our guide, Mya, carefully explained almost every part of this giant system and did her best to answer all our questions patiently. Even as someone outside this field, I could still feel the meticulous design and the sheer power made by this pre-electric era marvel.
YJSNPI — Google review
We had a wonderful experience at the Great Lakes Ship Museum in Kingston! Our guide Thisandy was absolutely fantastic — engaging, knowledgeable, and full of fascinating stories that brought history to life. The tour was perfectly organized and enjoyable for everyone — adults, teens, and younger kids alike. We especially appreciated the headsets provided during the tour — such a thoughtful detail! It made it easy to hear the guide clearly without having to stay too close or strain to listen, which made the whole experience more relaxed and comfortable. The ship itself is beautifully restored, and the atmosphere is conveyed with great care and authenticity. Everything is so well presented — you really feel transported back in time. Highly recommended for families and anyone interested in history or maritime life!
Yulya L — Google review
An amazing piece of history! The tour was wonderful with comfortable headsets ensuring all could hear the guide. It is a very fortunate series of events that saved this vessel, and we were lucky to tour it. Even in a state of repair and restoration we could feel the comfort and clever design. These were luxury on the Great Lakes. I highly recommend this tour. Get the 1 hour and 15 minute full deal. It flies by!
Edward C — Google review
Excellent opportunity to see a Great Lakes passenger liner from its golden era. The ship was built in Glasgow in 1907 and was in service until 1965. Excellent tour by knowledgeable guides, one of whom actually served on the ship in the early 1960s. There is also a small maritime museum that is a delight for ship buffs.

This is an absolutely gorgeous park to visit. It’s the perfect place to catch a sunset. There is plenty of parking. There is a children’s park near the parking lot. There are lots of little trails to walk on and benches to sit and enjoy nature. This place is good in the winter, but fantastic in the summer!

Beautiful kept park with Lake Ontario beach. There are sand box like area for kids to play in the sand near the water. You can go swimming as it's clear but it's rocky near the shore so if you have water shoes, it's best if you wear them. I am not sure if it's sandy after the rocks. The park area is kept clean and well maintained with a sheltered picnic and washroom area. There's one playground near the front of the park and new one near it with a splash pad as well. Best of two worlds.

Cedar Point State Park in Clayton, NY, is a dog-friendly recreational area offering camping, picnicking, boating, and fishing activities. The park features facilities such as docks for boats, a sandy beach, picnic grounds, and a fishing pier. It is an ideal destination for families with children and individuals with special needs due to its accessible amenities including wheelchair-accessible beach areas and spacious bathroom facilities. Visitors can enjoy the playgrounds for children and the supervised swimming area with lifeguards.
Very clean , neat, well maintained, groomed, scenic campground. There was a wedding on property when we were there. Nice location. Enjoyed our stay, although we were next to inconsiderate people that kept their white lights on all night , illuminating the whole place, leaving their dogs in their camper all day alone and barking, ruining the peace of anyone within 200 feet , returning in the evening to have a full bar set up on their tailgate. We made the most of it and enjoyed our time there and ignored the inconsiderate fools next to us
Elle S — Google review
My family comes to this park regularly and we love it. There is a beach, playgrounds for children, boat launch/marina, and docks to fish off of. The only caveat is that the bathrooms are not always super clean. When the park gets busier, the bathrooms become less clean (check for toilet paper before you sit!)
Victoria B — Google review
Nice place if you are interested in just staying in the area but the campgrounds themselves were not very private. Everything is wide open and crammed together. We have stayed at similar types of campgrounds but they are typically private and are into high volume dollars. For a state park it was surprising. The staff however was very friendly and helpful. We left the site during the day for a variety of reasons so we didn't end up staring at our neighbors staring at us. If you are expecting a wooded campsite, don't look here. If you want open spaces, level roads for bikes and something near the seaway, then it would be a fit for you.

Cedar Point State Park is a Must-Stop for Road Trippers Cedar Point State Park in New York was one of the unexpected highlights of our road trip through New York, Vermont, Quebec, and Ontario. We weren’t planning on staying there originally, but a friendly local we met at a nearby brewery recommended it—and we’re so glad they did. We asked the park staff for a recommendation, and they pointed us to Campsite #23, which turned out to be absolutely perfect. We were traveling in our SUV (no RV or camper), with a mattress in the back, and this site was exactly what we needed: quiet, right on the water, and with stunning sunset views over the St. Lawrence River. If you don’t need hookups for water or electricity, this is hands-down the best spot in the park. You can park right at the site, and it’s just steps from the shoreline. The facilities were also great—clean restrooms and showers were just a short walk from our site, which made the stay even more comfortable. The park itself is peaceful and well-maintained, with plenty of space and scenic views all around. As for pricing, we paid $26 USD when booking directly at the park office, but if you book online in advance, expect to pay around $33 USD. Either way, it’s a great value for such a beautiful, relaxing place. If you’re road-tripping through the region and want a quiet, scenic spot to stay overnight or for a few days, Cedar Point State Park is well worth the stop. It’s the kind of place you’ll remember long after the trip ends.
Raman G — Google review
Favorite place to camp in the St. Lawrence with amazing sunsets and perfect views of the passing boats and ships!
Kayla J — Google review
This is more like a private campground, packed in like sardines. Our campsite was unbackable...one of the worst sites here #83....fix it for crist sake put some gravel down. We had to park length ways we were scraping the bumper on the hill trying to back it up. Also most state campgrounds have some hiking trails not this one it's mainly for fishing. O well live and learn. If you just want to fish this is for you, it also has limited internet at least with AT&T. My fault I should have Google earthen it.

I thought it was horrible,we took our grade 3 class and the 4 "students" that were suppose to be running it,didn't make a very good impression on me, as they seemed like they weren't interested in talking to the kids or making them feel enthused to be there to learn about the antique wood tools and trying to get them interested really in helping them build there houses with wood glue that takes hours to dry and the kids were getting frustrated as the pieces to there homes kept falling off, maybe if some hammer and nails were involved or even a hot glue gun would have been better or better yet laying the project flat would have even helped the situation better. Wasn't enthused at all by this visit and would never recommend or be interested in a revisit with the school class or personally. Hopefully it was just the under enthused staff that day that was working which was June 20 2019.

FANTASTIC experience - one of the highlights of our day trip to the Kingston area. Our five girls, ages 9-15, created treasures with the help of Tristan, a delightful young man and self-taught wood worker. We spent about 1.5 hours in the woodshop, and enoyed every moment. The museum was fascinating for the adults, as well. Unfortunately, due to the extreme heat wave we're currently experiencing in the north-east, the chain saw artist-in-residence had for the day about 1pm, so we missed this part of the experience - but were able to view some of his completed art and works-in-progress. Would love to go back and see him carving some day. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! THANKS, TRISTAN - you were GREAT!!

This captivating museum showcases an impressive array of minerals, crystals, and fossils sourced from both the Kingston area and across the globe. Named in honor of Willet Green Miller, Ontario's first Provincial Geologist, this institution not only pays tribute to his legacy but also serves as an educational hub for local schools and natural science groups.
This was such a lovely museum! We are from out of town but had an errand to run and wanted to make a fun day out of it. My gem-obsessed 6 year old loved our visit, and there was enough to entertain my 3 year old too! The curator identified some of my son's gems for him and let him take some little free samples too, which made his day. Such a great homeschool outing, and all for free! Thank you for a wonderful experience ❤️

Randomly found and went to check out this place recently while in Kingston with a bit of time to kill. Its located inside one of the large University buildings and theres some street parking nearby. Helped ourselves into the museum as there didn’t seem to be any front desk or person around at all. You can order your food at the ticket kiosk when picking up your tickets. The idea is great but we waited longer than actually standing in line to order.
Lindsey C — Google review
It was a great theater experience. The seats are super comfortable. The place was clean. Staff was friendly. I just can't believe the cost of the movies these days. Family of 4 for tickets and a few popcorns....$70 later. Crazy.

Recreation center
The INVISTA Centre in Kingston is a fantastic hub for both recreation and adventure. Whether you're looking to embark on the scenic K and P Trail, which starts right from this impressive facility, or enjoy year-round indoor skating, there's something for everyone. The trail offers an exhilarating 67 km journey through diverse landscapes, while the centre itself features excellent ice surfaces perfect for family skating sessions, hockey games, and various events.
This arena is a beauty. I like buzzing through the small hockey hall of fame too. There are four pads and a very nice straight forward layout. The concession staff were very kind and helpful too!

The manager of this location is pretty rude, I was here in the morning quietly charging my battery, not bothering anyone, enjoying the air conditioning and an older manager guy took time out of his seemingly uneventful day to tell me I cant do that. I pay taxes for this place to exist, along with his salary. Public employees should learn to be more welcoming of the public.
Coloured B — Google review
Great arena, easy access to all rink, food court and lots of parking
Sergiy T — Google review
A modern 4 pad arena with all the facilities you expect along with a few surprising additions. Mini stick play area and full size gym, hockey hall of fame and (less fun) meeting rooms, along with a vey good concession stand and pro shop with skate sharpening. The rinks themselves have great seating, heating and are light and airy, all in all an excellent facility
Andrew S — Google review
Great place for a ringette tournament. Good rinks, open space and great Tuk shop
Rodney N — Google review
Very clen and bright. Good concessions. Not too cold for spectators. Clean bathrooms.
Alexandra G — Google review
Great place to come skating! Family skating, Public skating, Hockey, Events and much more. A gym is also located upstairs. Haymakers canteen is located in the middle on the bottom floor and is a new place to get delicious food with great customer service!
Jordon C — Google review
Amazing facility. Clean nice rinks and good food and drink available.

Fun on the Run Arcade is a beloved attraction in Watertown, offering a variety of activities for kids and adults. The well-organized game room features arcade games, pool tables, and dart boards. Visitors praise the professionalism and helpfulness of the staff, making it an ideal spot for birthday parties. With diverse games and claw machines, both kids and adults can have a great time. Guests recommend trying out games like Big Bass or The Dropper to win tickets.
Highly recommend Fun on the Run for family fun as well as birthday parties. We frequent there as a family and it's a well-kept facility, clean, and has great games for all ages. We just had my daughter's birthday party there and our party host was AWESOME! SO helpful and attentive, played games with the kids, was really kind and engaging, patient with the kids, and the party room is so nice and spacious. They made it so easy and stress-free. Perfect place for a birthday party, everyone had an amazing time. Can't wait to go back. Thank you!

Although some games are short in duration, we can say that they generally allow you to have an enjoyable time with your family.

I have coming here for years typically spending $200 each visit and it would yield enough tickets for the kids to get anything on the wall, the visit today I noticed they adjusted the claw machines to be weaker and everything is over packed in the machines to make it impossible to win and the toys inside were ripped, the machines on the left wall payouts were adjusted to lower amounts making you receive less tickets. It says you receive 180 tickets for a big yellow ball but the set it to 40 tickets. This place is a total scam, don’t come here it’s not even remotely worth it.

It was amazing!we were trying to get some thing for my brother And we did not have enough tickets, and we told him why we wanted to get it cause my brother got in a bad snowmobile accident and broke his steamer and he’s gonna be in bed for a while so we want to get it for him so we could play with it and he got it Because we didn’t have enough so he basically gave us extra points to buy it for my brother

What a blast at an old school fun arcade , a must fun In the months to come, affordable and awesome
Me L — Google review
It had fun a great place to have a good time with some friends. I recommend the big bass or the dropper both give you a good amount of tickets. I got 1000 tickets on my first spin!

Decent games for kids to play, I usually don't have a huge issue, except the last few times I have been in there, there has been a girl working who's is literally the most inattentive and RUDE employee I have ever encountered. I had a ball get stuck in one game, and went to ask for help, as you should, and she kept walking away, but if she deems what your doing to be wrong, she swoops in like Batman to yell at you. The other workers I've seen in there, the owner and I believe the other guys last name is Kiblin, are always helpful, a long with the other dark haired girl, but this chick needs to go!

Usually when I’ve gone to the Arcade, it’s never been 100%, but also it’s been fun in a way. This time the old man with the grey hair thought it would be okay to harass me, cause he thought I was staring at his young Co-Worker. For the record, I was only staring for a moment cause I was hesitating if I should approach the girl and tell her that she’s doing well at her job, and to ignore the miserable pube-head, who I’ve seen in the past (and today when I went) treat her like s**t, and made her cry!! Anyways, I told him off then walked out. But don’t get mixed up with him or some of the other staff unless you want a 0/10 horrible experience, at what should be a fun arcade for kids and people of all ages.
