The California State Railroad Museum, located in Old Sacramento, is a vibrant and educational destination for history enthusiasts. The museum offers an extensive collection of vintage locomotives and engaging exhibits that delve into the impact of railroads on the development of western states. With over 20,000 square feet of interactive displays, visitors can explore the history of steam engines, the role of railroads in agriculture, and even view a remarkable assortment of 1,000 vintage toy trains.
A Memorable Visit to the California State Railroad Museum Visiting the California State Railroad Museum was truly an unforgettable experience. As soon as I stepped inside, I was impressed by the size of the locomotives and the detail in every exhibit. I could feel the rich history of the railroad era coming to life right in front of me. What I enjoyed most was seeing the beautifully restored trains up close — especially the luxury passenger cars and old steam engines. Walking through them made me imagine what it must have been like to travel across the country by rail many years ago. I also gained a lot of new insights into how the railroad shaped California’s growth and connected communities. The museum does a great job of combining technology, history, and storytelling. There were even interactive exhibits that made learning fun and engaging. Overall, I truly enjoyed my time at the museum and left with a deeper appreciation for the role of railroads in American history. I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in history, transportation, or simply looking for a meaningful experience.
Mixmix F — Google review
We visited the railway museum right when it opened and were warmly greeted by the staff as they opened the doors. The ticket prices are quite affordable, and the museum itself is clean and well-maintained. The staff and volunteers were friendly and knowledgeable — they took time to explain the history and details of the trains on display. The museum features a wide variety of train exhibits, and there’s even a dedicated floor for kids to play with model trains and watch them move around, which was a fun highlight. Parking is available either at metered street spots or in a nearby garage, which costs around $20 per day. Overall, it was an enjoyable and educational experience for both adults and kids.
Yoke A — Google review
When seeing a museum of mechanical engineering i absolutely believe the people that restored and continue to maintain these locomotives and cars are beyond expertise. The staff is absolutely wonderful and knowledgeable. Perfectly located in old sacramento for a whole day of fun.
David M — Google review
Had a fantastic time at the California State Railroad Museum! As two adults, we weren’t sure what to expect, but we ended up having so much fun. The scavenger hunt was a great touch, and the exhibits are very interactive with full-size trains you can explore. The museum is well-maintained, with a lot to see and learn. Staff members are friendly and clearly passionate about what they do. A must-visit if you’re into museums or looking for a unique, engaging experience in Sacramento.
Janine N — Google review
Probably one of the top five railroad museums I’ve been to in the country. Very well done, plane to read, and space for the little ones to run around too. Don’t miss the model trains and the kid play area on the second floor!
Alexander W — Google review
Went here on a Friday around 4pm not to crowed. Lots of history, great info, but you really need at least 2 hours not 1 hour we were speed walking, but still saw and read at least 85%. No senior or disabilities discount. May just have to go back.
Tyler G — Google review
Top notch experience for 1-90 years old. Real historic train carriages and locomotives on display with knowledgeable staff that will engage in interesting conversation. And that $12 per person fee is a steal which is less than half the price of nearly every museum nowadays! Second floor section is dedicated to model trains which brings smile to children. Highly recommended
Frederick — Google review
Be prepared to have your mind blown! This place was a must to see with or without kids. First the cost of it was inexpensive to other museums. Child 6-17 was $6, 17+ was $12 free under 5. Interactive museums are truly the best way to learn and this was a well thought out museum. We also enjoyed that they had many old timers who knew all about the history and trains walking around as volunteers who clearly loved and enjoyed talking to kids and adults alike. The history museum is next door and was such a let down in comparison so maybe skip that one or see it first, before you go into the train museum.

Nestled in the heart of Sacramento, the Crocker Art Museum stands as a testament to artistic heritage, being the oldest public art museum west of the Mississippi River. With nearly 140 years of history, it showcases an impressive array of international artworks alongside its renowned collections of Californian art and ceramics. Visitors can immerse themselves in diverse exhibitions that span European, Asian, and African paintings.
This is one of the best art museums I’ve ever visited. I was impressed by the breadth of time periods and media, as well as the focus on California art and artists who spent most of their lives here. I wish I had time to see everything! You could easily spend all day here. Of special note is the unique descriptions for almost ever single piece on display in the permanent collection that gave immense detail on the artist, subject, and “what to focus on” that helps give special context on the piece.
Molly — Google review
During a heatwave that extended into the weekend, I was trying to think of a family activity/outing that would keep us cool. My 13 year old (who has a fondness for art & history) suggested that we visit the Crocker Art Museum. My wife and I hadn’t been in years (I believe the last time I visited was when I was in grade school), so we loved this idea and were excited! Unfortunately, this was a last minute decision, so we would only have 1.5 hours to enjoy before they closed. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly employee at the desk who issued our tickets. We started at the French art exhibits, which if I’m being honest, I found to be boring and a bit depressing. However, this feeling quickly dissipated when we entered the modern art sections. One of my favorite pieces of artwork was “Empanadas Dulces/Sweet Turnovers;” something about seeing a multigenerational family coming together to accomplish one goal is beautiful to me. Overall, we enjoyed the Crocker Art Museum and are planning a return visit for the near future (this time around we’ll plan for a longer visit)!

We had a great time viewing all the wonderful art selections. The Museum had an event the day we went. It was pretty interesting. We went on Sunday. It's free or you can give a donation to enter.
Latosha J — Google review
The Crocker Art Museum is way bigger than we expected—there’s seriously so much to see. We didn’t even have enough time to finish the third floor! Every room is filled with beautiful artwork, from classic pieces to more modern installations. It’s the kind of place you could get lost in for hours. Definitely planning to come back soon to see the rest. Perfect spot for a date too—relaxing, inspiring, and easy to enjoy together.

Went Saturday, October 4th. Large museum, alot of different exhibit themes. 3 stories of old and modern art. Alot of native American memorabilia. Alot of polynesian ancient figurines. Alot of modern art, something pleasing for everyone. It takes a couple of hours to walkthrough all the exhibits. A great choice to spend a day, it's within walking distance to old town Sacramento.

Really enjoyed the Black Artist in America exhibit. It was great to see the diversity in the various exhibitions this museum offers. I really enjoyed it.

The California State Capitol Museum is a historic institution that offers an elegant and comprehensive look into the history of California through its exhibits and artifacts. The museum is part of the Free Museum Day, where visitors can explore various local museums for free. As you approach the museum, the grandeur of the California State Capitol building comes into view, with its impressive architecture and ornate interior.
This was my first time here. I didn’t get to go inside, but still an amazing view from the outside. Beautiful park surrounding it. Lots of places to sit, relax or set up a picnic area and eat. It’s bustling with people. There’s food trucks around the block. The building is absolutely amazing. They don’t make buildings like these anymore. The architecture, the design, so much thought put into building these older buildings next time. Hopefully I’ll be able to go inside.
Francisco G — Google review
Free entrance.open only weekdays. There is a gift shop but it's kind of hidden. No restaurant. MANY bathrooms on every floor. About 1/2 the rooms aren't accessible but they have the others set up as they were for their their period theme. If you like this kind of stuff definitely worth visiting. Top floor has portrates of the previous governors of the state.
Al C — Google review
A must-visit when you’re in Sacramento! The California State Capitol Museum is beautifully preserved and full of history. The architecture is stunning, from the marble hallways to the grand dome, every corner tells a story. The exhibits are well curated, offering a fascinating look into California’s political and cultural past.
Wesley C — Google review
This is a really interesting space and could be worth a stop if you’re in town — it’s free to enter (brief security checkpoint accessible on 2 sides), and takes just a few minutes to cruise the palatial halls and get some breathtaking neoclassical architecture! The millwork is spectacular, with carved bears on the bannisters and rich filigree on nearly every surface. If you appreciate nothing else, the craftsmanship is next level. It’s almost perpetually under construction, so be aware that not all areas are always accessible and the space is actively being used for government functions — so be respectful around the more private sections while cruising around inside. The ground floor plays host to a few historical rooms preserved for your viewing pleasure, and a small exhibit or two depending on construction. The elevators are full of gorgeous art-deco metalwork and operate relatively quickly. You can also climb the elegant stairs on one side of the main rotunda. There’s a cute gift shop and restaurant in the basement as well. This is quite a structure. If you like epic structures you’ll probably enjoy a quick stop in as I mentioned before. Grounds outside are good for photo ops too.
Noah — Google review
Interesting free self guided walk through of historic portions of the Capitol building. Current exhibits focus on historical photography in and of California. Some impressive architecture and craftsmanship to be enjoyed.
Rich C — Google review
The building was amazing. The tour guild was amazing. The tour was so-so. Didn't get to see much. There is a long wall where some of the governors have their stupid, expensive painting hung up on the wall. There are 5 or 6, I believe. Not a one is hung at the same height as another. A very telling display indeed.
Tevye M — Google review
One of the most beautiful capitals I've visited! There is a lot of construction going on currently but you can find paid street parking. They give tours. There's a robotic coffee shop nearby that's really neat too!
T H — Google review
Being at the capitol felt meaningful as someone from Maine to visit the Capitol of another state. They have scheduled tours during the week, usually every hour from ten in the morning until four in the afternoon. You can sign up at the information desk right inside the rotunda. Downstairs there is a small museum with exhibits and a short film about the building's history. They also have a few restored offices that show how things looked in the past. It was good. I learned a lot. Outside is a large park area, about forty acres, with guided walks available on certain days. There are trees from all over the world, war memorials, and plaques that give a sense of the state's past. It felt quiet and informative, not flashy, but steady and respectful. More than anything, it made the idea of state government feel a little more real.

Zoo
Zoos & Aquariums
Situated on 14 acres within William Land Park just east of Downtown, the Sacramento Zoo is a popular family attraction that has been drawing visitors since the early 20th century. The zoo houses over 140 species in habitats modeled after their natural environments, including tundras, wetlands, mountain ranges, and tropical forests. Visitors can get up close to rare and endangered animals through VIP hands-on experiences or feeding encounters.
My son and I had the incredible opportunity to attend an Overnight Safari at the Sacramento Zoo — an experience tailored for Cub Scouts, though they also offer a Family Overnight Safari that I’d highly recommend to any family with a child who loves animals. The event was filled with magical moments. From a small amphitheater-style show featuring live animals like a red-tailed boa, a horned owl, and an opossum, to the care demonstrations and hands-on learning opportunities, everything was thoughtfully designed to engage and inspire young minds. Spending the night inside the zoo was a unique adventure in itself. Waking up and getting to explore the zoo even more the next morning — before it opened to the public — was a major highlight. We rode the train, the carousel, visited the gift shop, and took our time visiting all the animals we missed the night before. The staff were exceptional: kind, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about their work. They made the experience even more special for my son and I. If you’re considering something memorable for your child — especially if they’re a Scout or simply love animals — this is it. An amazing time that we won’t soon forget!
J. J — Google review
It was fun we went in the morning so it was a little cooler. We bought tickets online in advance as they are cheaper and depending what day you go the price is adjusted so definitely check online. All of the animals were out and enjoying their day. Staff was super friendly and was enthusiastic.
Shaleen P — Google review
A Small zoo, good for very young kids <7 years. Sac zoo has limited number of animal exhibits out of which a few are under renovation at the time of visit. Plan early to catch the animal feeding times fun. Usually happened between 11 am-2 pm. Zoo has good shade all over due to tall trees so a hot afternoon is fine to visit. - Big animals like Lion, Rhino, Giraffes exhibits were great! - Reptiles section had literally nothing inside except 1 Rattlesnake. - Plenty of parking space across the road. - Short electric train ride is good for kids and adults both. - Gift shop is expensive as expected. - Limited food options inside the zoo.
Yugank S — Google review
Throughout the years I have always thought of the Sacramento Zoo as being far too small, the enclosures for the animals too confining, but this last visit I noticed that they have made some changes that have improved the habitats greatly. I would still LOVE to see the zoo expand to give more room for the animals and maybe even more exotic animals. I would love to see more ability to learn and interact with animals that we may not experience in our daily lives (I know safety has to be considered) but to be able to get kids more interested in working and protecting wildlife I think would be awesome. Sacramento Zoo, I see you making the effort, I applaud you and hope to see more! Thank you for a great visit!
Luckylou 1 — Google review
Loved this place! Decent number of unique animals, with a wonderful habitat for many. My toddler absolutely loved the flamingo area. Was pleasantly surprised that the closing hour does not equate actual closing time - whilst listed as 4pm closing, you're actually allowed to stay till 5pm. Price guide (as of Sep 2025): Entry 1 adult $27 A-Z moving animals kids book $19.52
Sventek — Google review
I loved this small and cute zoo. It has a lot of cool animals like lions, giraffes, capybara, red pandas, okappi (the only living relative to giraffe). Very clean and quite. Giraffe feeding was the best experience! Recommend buying tickets days in advance as it can be much cheaper than buying at the entrance which is 27 per adult.
Tatiana P — Google review
It was my first visit of the Sac Zoo. I was slightly regreted by the pass ticket. Based on the notice on the kiosk, it said $29 per adult (members $25), kids under 5 - free. However, we spent $77 for 2 adult and a child 4 y.o. and additionally, $3 for 3 minutes for a corusel ride. Despite on it, I was surprised how clean and non-stinky air is there. Animals are super clean, calm and friendly to people. Some of them even came very close to us. Mtake sure do not feed them by regular food. Otherwise, you will be walked out from the zoo or even banned for the further visits. There are many stuff who are watching visitors to preventing the rules violations. Some bioscientists can share cute stories about animals which their cared and studyed. We heared the story about rhinoceros, whose name is James George and who is waiting for his girlfriend's tranfer. Another gentlemen told us how they tried to de-escalate abusive relationships between parrots ("domestic violence :) ). Some animals took naps in their shelters (because it was a bit hot day - weekend afternoon) and we were unable to see them. A serpentarium is too small and there are only few animals. During our visit, we noticed that some terrariums were under renovation and it will be great to see new animals who get their cozy homes. Sac Zoo can offer an open-air conference room and there is a picnic area for some family events but you cannot bring alcohol there or to be too noisy that do not scared animals. It is a very good place to have fun activities for a whole family and groups. Highly recommend!
Miss M — Google review
The Sacramento Zoo is way too small and honestly not worth the money. The experience feels rushed, and there isn’t much to see compared to other zoos. On top of that, prices are outrageous: bottled water that should be $1 is sold for around $7. Definitely disappointing for the cost.

Fairytale Town is a charming and enduring park located in Sacramento's William Land Park. It offers an enchanting experience for children and families, featuring over 25 colorful playsets inspired by favorite fairytales and nursery rhymes. The park spans 3.5 acres and includes scenes from classic tales such as King Arthur's Castle, Jack and the Beanstalk, Robin Hood, Mr. McGregor's Garden, and more.
This place was the perfect place to visit while we were in Sacramento for the weekend! I was in shock how cheap the prices of the tickets and food/merchandise were. Being from San Diego, I’m used to prices being a bit higher. My daughter and I had an absolute blast. I can’t wait to bring my youngest daughter next time we met in the area so she can join in on the fun! ☺️

It’s like a playground—best for kids under 5. Some fun-looking areas were closed for private events. The puppet show was excellent and made the visit worthwhile. Just check the showtime in advance. 🔹Long Review: It feels like a playground and is a good spot for kids under 5. Some areas looked fun but were closed off due to private events, so general visitors couldn’t enter. There’s a small puppet theater, and I highly recommend it. Honestly, I initially felt the visit wasn’t worth the money, but that puppet show completely changed my mind. However, the show runs only at specific times, so make sure to check the schedule before you go.

We walked and did all the little side activities in two hours. It is worth the price and the staff is very nice. They had activities for kiddos to do, they had a cool show in the theater for the kiddos to watch. My 3 year old had a blast! Parking is tricky but we did find something close. Cute well cared for animals.

It's a great place for kids. It's very interesting, there are animals inside, a theater, and much more. If you have an EBT card, you're in luck. You can get a big discount at this park with it—half the price. But you can't bring animals. We weren't allowed in with our puppy.
Oleg S — Google review
Took the nephews and, as expected, spent a lot of money. Between admission, snacks, and all the little extras, it adds up fast. The food was, honestly, just food. Nothing exciting, but we ate and nobody complained too much. At least we didn’t starve. The kids were all over the place—slides, little houses, farm animals, storybook stuff everywhere. It’s the kind of place that’s made for them, and they always seem to love these things no matter what. They ran around the entire time and didn’t want to leave, which I guess means it was a success.
Carlie A — Google review
I have loved this place since I was little. You are able to bring in your picnic lunch. Not expensive to get in. Not super busy on Sundays. Loved the little garden where my kiddos could water plants
Leah H — Google review
Cute park for little ones. There are plenty of shaded areas, bathrooms, and benches for everyone. The kids enjoyed the story time key boxes and the slides in shaded areas. I saw many families having lunches on the grassy areas. Really cute park.

One of its latest exhibits is 'Hitting the Road: Road Trippin Through the Years,' which features popular cars from past cross-country excursions such as wood-paneled station wagons, Volkswagen campers, and Shasta trailers.
Went here on a free museum day and was amazed to see a great collection of beautiful cars. Being a resident of Sacramento for so long but did it know about the museum; perhaps this needs to be publicized bit better. I have been to many automobile museums and this is surely one of the best. They have e free parking, volunteers to assist, a gift shop and restrooms. On normal days tickets range from $8 to $12. They do allow visitors to sit and ride on those classic cars; do check their websites. Overall highly recommend!

Such a cool place! Focused primarily on Ford vehicles, there are some early models from before the Model T. Our two docents (Bob & John?) were incredible sources of information and my girlfriend and I just geeked about to our heart's content. (One of the museum's early supporters, Dick Ryder, was my wedding chauffeur in 1990, driving us around in his beautifully restored Pierce-Arrow {not Packard}, so it was kind of a pilgrimage for me) So, so, cool, so many gorgeous old autos, so much interesting history! Highly recommend!

Had some spare time so I thought I'd pop in here. A lot of neat older cars and some more modern ones as well. Don't think I've ever seen so many cars from the 1900s in one place. They currently have a lot of Mustangs on display. Not a bad way for a car person to spend some time.

This museum has an impressive collection of vehicles and great informational displays. I've been to Sacramento numerous times and have thought about going here but never got around to it. But this trip, I walked from Old Town Sac via the waterway (about a mile down a beautiful clean path) to finally visit, and I'm so glad I did! The docents are lovely with tons of knowledge and it just happened to be the 3rd Sunday in the month so it was Sunday Drive Day. This means, with your ticket, you get a short drive in a car of your choice (about 8 to choose from). The car for me and my partner was a 53 Bel Air. I highly recommend a visit if you are in the area!

I had an amazing time at the California Auto Museum during free museum week! The collection of classic cars is incredible, and the knowledgeable staff made the experience even more enjoyable. I've driven by his location plenty of times, I always wanted to go. I thought I'd take the opportunity to check it out doing the free museum week. It's a good learning experience for little ones if they are interested in cars. You get to see what cars look like before there were self driving cars.

I had a couple hours on a Wednesday morning to spare before a flight and thought this would fill it. I had a wayyyyy better time than I expected. The front desk folks were friendly and welcoming, and a kind gentleman offered to guide me through with some storytelling, if I was interested. There was no pressure, and I knew I might be tight for time, so I decided to view the cars on my own, but the conversation we had about the early vehicles was very cool and there’s a lot of history I never knew about. I regretted not having him guide me through the whole place. I met the owner, too, he was super friendly and was working on the cars! At the time, there were mustangs being featured, and I was able to sit in a Model A and a Mustang that day. A great memory.

Amazing place it's got all of the information on a stand about the car you're looking at. The cars are really well preserved and look brand new. You're able to get inside of a few cars and they have a fun little gift shop. 5/5 Star would recommend.

Sutter's Fort State Historic Park is the oldest restored fort in the U.S. and offers a glimpse into pioneer life through costumed docents, programs, and exhibits. This California Historical Landmark and National Historic Landmark was settled by pioneer John Augustus Sutter Jr. in 1839. The living history museum spans nearly 5 acres and features various old-school buildings such as blacksmith shops, original wells, and weaving stations.
Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park is a fascinating glimpse into California’s early history! The self-guided tour allows you to explore at your own pace, taking in the well-preserved buildings and historical artifacts. Admission is very affordable—just $5 for adults and $3 for youth, with kids 5 and under free. The fort is filled with interesting exhibits showcasing pioneer life, including blacksmithing tools, living quarters, and trade goods. The atmosphere really transports you back in time, and the informational signs provide great context. It’s a great spot for history buffs, families, or anyone looking for a unique experience in Sacramento. The outdoor setting makes for a pleasant walk, and the reconstructed rooms give a real sense of what life was like in the 1800s. There are also occasional live demonstrations, which add to the experience. Parking can be around the park, not free on weekdays but free on Sunday.

If given the opportunity, I would highly recommend visiting the fort with a school on a field trip. It gives you an entirely different experience from the self-guided tour. This is something I did in school 30 years ago, and was also just able to experience with my daughter and her class. It's run by 4 or so state park employees, and then for field trips, the parent volunteers run the stations. This gives the kids a chance to make candles, rope, leather stamping, bake in a stone oven, churn butter, and more.

I really enjoy history. I went during the week and in the afternoon, so there was only three other people there besides myself and the park Rangers. Entrance fee was only about $5. You really do get the feel of walking into history. Everything is as it was and it feels as if you are a part of history well. It begins with an informational video. Then you walk into the courtyard and see it all staged to see how camp would have looked like. Each room is staged as it would have been. You can’t enter the rooms, only look inside them from the doors. The bottom half of the doors are closed. There is one building you can enter rich was the jail. You can walk into the forts two towers on opposite side where the canons are strategically placed to protect the fort and those in it. Nice park surrounding it with a pond, bridge going over the pond, turtles in the pond and lots of geese. The State Indian Museum is right next to it.

We visited on Saturday afternoon. The admission ticket was $5 per person. The fort was pretty big and it was a quiet place to walk. The self guided tour allowed us to explore the rooms at our own pace. There are informations about John Sutter and the history of the fort itself. We spent about 30 minutes to walk around the area.
Meline J — Google review
Nice spot, well kept. Since you can’t actually go in a lot of rooms it would be nice if there was a little bit more shade. It’s a tough place to visit during the summer. I like that they are acknowledging a lot of things history of the place.
Chris F — Google review
A good place to visit, parking may be a challenge, the fort was mostly reconstructed in the 1890s but the main building g is original. A 12 minute video places Sutter's Fort in a modern historical setting, adding some balance to the stories told. If you're not from California/Sacramento you might want to read up on some of the pioneering era history before coming here.

Amazing to be able to have this historic building in the middle of the city of Sacramento. Great spot for short walks, sipping coffee, having a picnic, or visiting the State Indian Museum. $5 entrance fee each.

The State Indian Museum in Sacramento, California, offers a fascinating exploration of the state's indigenous tribes. The museum showcases artifacts and exhibits that celebrate the rich culture and history of Native Americans in California. Visitors can immerse themselves in the ancient traditions and values of the indigenous people through hands-on experiences and detailed descriptions of tribal artifacts. The museum is themed around core Indian values such as Nature, Spirit, and Family, providing insight into their unique community and how they lived alongside the natural environment.
My family and I had a wonderful experience here! The staff was so knowledgeable and helpful in showing our kids some things. The museum is small, but has a lot of information to read about. They plan to add more hands on experiences for kids in the near future. We had been learning about Indigenous populations prior to coming and it really helped to make some connections during our visit. I recommend PBS American Experience videos as well as Honest History journals for kids. These resources are helpful for different levels of understanding of our Native populations as well as the historical effects on their way of life.

I had a truly wonderful visit to the State Indian Museum, made even more special thanks to Park Ranger Shyanne. From the moment I arrived, she was welcoming, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about sharing the rich history and cultures of California Native peoples. Ranger Shyanne went above and beyond to answer questions and provide thoughtful, respectful insights that brought the exhibits to life. Her storytelling, cultural sensitivity, and genuine care made the experience not only educational but also deeply meaningful. If you're visiting the museum, I highly recommend taking the time to speak with her—you won’t regret it. She's a true asset to the museum and to the California State Parks team!

I found street parking just outside of the park. I paid $5 for admission into this Museum. It is very small and will take you less than 30 minutes. The bathrooms are located outside and are open to the public. There is another Museum nearby but that is a separate fee. The staff are friendly and amicable enough in their efforts to answer any questions.

Basically a one room museum. Wish they had more videos or a guide to make the experience come alive. Will have to return for acorn days. My favorite part was the map showing what tribes were where. The Fort Sutter next door has more information on how the natives built the fort.

The California Museum is a must-visit destination for those interested in exploring the rich cultural and ethnic history of California. It offers comprehensive exhibits on various aspects of California life, making it an essential stop for anyone looking to delve into the state's heritage. Additionally, visitors can explore other landmark sites nearby, such as the Crocker Art Museum, Governor's Mansion State Historic Park, Leland Stanford Mansion State Historic Park, and many more.
This was activity to do with my son on the weekend. For those who very small budget or low income, they give discounts as low as $2 for the entry fee. This place full of information and interactive things. There’s also activities for kids and adult adults. My 11 year-old enjoyed going with me and reading about Pearl Harbor the women in history and also about all the displays of objects from the past.

The museum itself is rather small, but it's so worth exploring. I enjoyed reading about the history of the early Chinese immigrants, the Japanese internment, and so much more. It’s raw, honest, and immersive, using photographs and interactive storytelling to explore both triumphs and harsh realities. It spotlights California’s diverse culture and history through interactive, inclusive displays. The price is only 10 for an adult. We parked on the street.
Thuy M — Google review
I volunteered with an elementary class. The museum is spectacular with their beautiful paintings and historical pieces but can do so much more as far as elevating the museum historically. They include some games for kids which is great. They can track their scores and get points for participating. There were so many great exhibits and real people who represent specific events in our past. The major downside I saw was that there was some overly biased views that took away from some exhibits. One alarming comment I found was the idea that the Japanese who came to America were "survivors". They were detained, but to elevate them to "survivor" is a mockery of those refugees who faced actual interment camps across the globe. They should change this wording immediately. Social justice may seek to elevate shame upon America, but not at the expense of truth. Where are the great feats of California such as the Great Depression and the Donner Party and the dangers of reaching the West. Sutter's Fort, westward expansion? History is not meant to be sanitized in the name of social justice. For example, the gold rush is basically portrayed solely through the eyes of the Japanese that worked the mines. I did not see a mention of James Marshall anywhere.

Amazing experience! So much information and history available for my son to learn about. When you buy tickets it says 45 minutes but we spent well over an hour looking at the exhibits. They are interactive and there are many opportunities for kids to draw or interact with the exhibits. Loved the Unity section and the History of Japanese internment camps was very informative. The Native American section is a good place to teach the kiddos about how natives from the U.S and Mexico are one. I love the music section as well!

A fun afternoon at the California Museum. It was more educational and interactive than most museums I have visited. I think it would be a great place to bring kids to learn about California history. I personally would have like more artworks depicting the different sections or should I say more artwork in the style of the different sections of the museum. I had a good time and found it to be a great rainy day activity.

Nestled in the heart of downtown Sacramento, the Crest Theatre is a stunning example of art deco architecture with a rich history dating back to its original opening in 1912. Initially known as the Empress Theatre, it has evolved over the years from showcasing classic films to becoming a vibrant hub for live performances, including concerts and comedy shows. The venue hosts an array of talented artists, from local favorites like Jackie Greene to renowned acts such as John Prine and Micky Dolenz.
Attended for a preview screening of the PBS KVIE Ms Austen series. The theatre is very well kept. This was my first time here in over 8 years. The staff was very friendly and the seating area was clean. Would love to come again for another show!

Old theater showing some classic movies. This is a large movie theater with plenty of seats. It's a first come type of seating. Wish it was a 35mm projector, but sadly, it's not. The venue is a classic. They've had some great concerts too. Go enjoy downtown and catch a movie 🎬.

Went for the pod meets world live podcast. "The kids still wanna jump! Tour" with Rider Strong, Danielle Fishel & Will friedle. Parked in the cathedral parking lot 4 minute walk. Got in line when doors opened at 7. Line moved. Concession stand had 🍿, soda & wall of candy. Lower level half bar. Had canned beer & select liquor. I got a Bacardi Coke. The nice bartender was patient as I perused options. Seats are tight and odd numbered on the floor left side where we sat. The speaker was in the way but still had a great time as the couches were centered. Millennial friendly as they played 90s hits. Restrooms were close to the seating.

Cool old school theater, concerts are cool to see here, but movie screen needs a bigger upgrade than the typical old pull down looking projector ones. Also the seat numbers don't really match tickets I've bought and the usher is also clueless and says just go to that area... lol Overall good vibe though.

My wife and I were very appreciative of the outstanding generosity, kindness, and charitable customer care that Bob, the new owner bestowed on us when attending the Celtic Thunder performance last month. The Stanford Mansion, a beautifully restored 1856 Victorian mansion, is now a museum showcasing period furnishings and decor. It is part of the Free Museum Day in Sacramento along with other local museums. To explore the interior, visitors must join a guided tour. While in Sacramento, tourists should also visit the Capitol and its surrounding park which features an impressive array of trees and plants from around the world, as well as rose and succulent gardens. Entry to the Capitol is free but requires passing through security.
Went here on a free museum day. A well kept part of California history. Great that the mansion was used as a girls orphanage for nearly 85 years. It was built by one of the richest person in America in those days and also a governor. It has clean restrooms, paid street side parking and can buy tickets onsite too. One thing I observed that the mansion in terms of elegance and luxury was not as good as others I saw in Oregon and Vancouer; bit surprising to me. No photography is allowed inside.

Take a trip to the past where you can learn about Jane & Leland. The furniture is beautiful and from the era where the mansion had all its glory. Intercoms located throughout the mansion for the ease of the head mistress. Don't think about taking a photo as they're highly prohibited these are from the welcome entrance and are the only ones allowed. I will tour again!

We stopped here while on vacation. This was one of my favorite stops while in California. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. The mansion is quite impressive. It is in very good condition. The free tour is offered every hour on the hour. It's pretty awesome to see this beautiful house. 70% of the furnishings and lights and doors and all of that are original. It's really amazing. Also cool that the governor entertains there and does work there in an office which you get to go in. None of the rooms are roped off. You can walk around during the tour and look at everything.

Escape the hustle and bustle of city life at William Land Regional Park, Sacramento's largest public park. Spanning over 200 acres, this expansive park offers a wide range of amenities including picnic sites with barbecues, playgrounds for kids, scenic lakeside trails, and sports fields for baseball, soccer, and basketball. Visitors can also enjoy attractions like Fairytale Town, Funderland, and the Sacramento Zoo within the park grounds.
Tree-filled city park with a golf course, ponds full of geese, and barbecue areas with tables. I enjoyed walking in the shade along 13th Avenue, which has nice architecture homes. Nearby attractions: Zoo, Fairytale Town.

I recently visited William Land Regional Park, also known as the Lily Pond, and it truly is a hidden oasis in Sacramento. Having been to Sacramento hundreds of times, this was my first visit—and I’m so glad I finally came. The park offers plenty of free parking and beautiful, peaceful walking paths surrounded by stunning lotus flowers in full bloom. The friendly ducks wandering the grassy areas add a charming touch to the serene environment. Whether you want a relaxing stroll, a quiet moment in nature, or just a peaceful place to unwind, this park is perfect. It’s a wonderful spot for locals and visitors alike to enjoy some calm away from the city buzz. If you haven’t been, I highly recommend stopping by to experience this lovely natural retreat!

This was my first visit to the park with my boyfriend, and it turned out to be a delightful experience. We strolled along a scenic three-mile path, surrounded by the vibrant colors of spring as flowers bloomed and trees swayed gently in the breeze. The park was teeming with friendly faces, each person engaged in various activities—enthusiastic families cheering for players in lively baseball games, joggers gliding by with determination, and children laughing as they played on the lush green grass. The park’s location near the Sacramento Zoo only added to the charm, filling the air with the distant sounds of animals and the promise of adventure just around the corner.

A very large park with so much to do. Rock gardens are awesome, greenery is awesome there. Sad to see how many trees have gotten damaged in storms we've had lately but VERY impressed with how quickly maintenance staff had been on top of the clean up. They take really good care of this wonderful landmark of Sacramento. Restrooms are kept above average as far as cleanliness but one gripe I have is that there are no doors on the stalls in the men's room. When using a stall in a men's room it definitely warrants the comfort of having a door for everyone's benefit, in my opinion. The Land Park Golf course and the Zoo are also in the park. Specifically for the little ones, there is also Fairytale Town here and duck ponds and plenty of green spaces to run around! There is definitely something to do for people of any age and very pet friendly as well! There is definitely a large amount of cruising that happens here in the evening by people contained to their cars for the most part and centered around the WPA rock garden. It can get fairly busy after nightfall, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. Being one of the oldest, most popular and largest parks in the city, it is easy to see why this park is a definite landmark for the city of Sacramento!

The Sacramento History Museum offers a fascinating journey through local heritage, art, and the Gold Rush era. Visitors can explore historic print shops and take underground tours led by guides in period costumes. The museum provides insight into the city's past, including its anti-flooding measures that led to abandoned underground spaces and streets. For those interested in delving deeper into history, special Underground After Hours tours are available for adults over 21.
The Sacramento History Museum has so much information about the rich history of this area that more than one visit is recommended. There is something for everyone, from children to grandparents. Learn about the formation of the Capital City, view a kitchen from the 1920's, and learn about the historic fires that have happened in the Golden State. There is also an exhibit about the earthquake of 1906 in San Francisco and an enormous amount of data from the formation of Sacramento, to the raising of Sacramento's buildings following the Great Flood of 1862, to the Gold Rush era, which brought many miners and their families to Northern California in search of riches. There is so much more to offer in this incredible museum and we highly recommend a visit to anyone interested in learning about the history of Sacramento and Northern California.

The Sacramento History Museum offers a decent glimpse into the area's past. The exhibits are informative, although some could use updates. It's a solid place to learn about local history, but it didn't quite leave a lasting impression. Worth a visit if you're in the area.

If you go to the Train Museum next door first bring your receipt to get a discount on the museum or the underground tours. Cute little museum. With discount by showing train museum receipt we paid $12 for two. It was worth it for that price. We missed the underground tour, 😢. But hopefully next time we can catch one. I didn't know about Campbell's and it's history in Sacramento so I learned something new. Staff was ok not much interaction there except purchasing tickets. Bathrooms clean. Wheelchair accessible and there is a elevator. Cute museum glad we saw it.

It was such a fun experience! I've lived in the Sacramento area for over 15 years now and I still learned more about this area! The staff are very friendly and helpful. And there's a plethora of different topics with historical items so you're bound to find something you're interested in! I came down April 5th specifically as they were holding a collaboration event with the California OES to learn more about earthquakes and how to prepare and be safe! The earthquake simulator was very fun and I learned a lot about how I can prepare for a natural disaster that comes with no warning. It was also very nice to see the printing press I've seen in so many of their official TikTok/YouTube videos. I didn't get to meet Howard this time but I did get a photo with Alex who also features in their social media posts! Overall such a good time and walking around old sac afterwards is always fun 10/10!!

What a fantastic visit to the Sacramento History Museum! The highlight was definitely our tour guide/actor—he was completely into his character and made the whole experience come alive this Saturday. His energy, humor, and storytelling made me feel like I was right there in the middle of history. Absolutely superb performance and such a fun way to learn about Sacramento’s past! The stuff allowed me to leave my backpack and bags while I explore the old downtown. 👍 👍

I paid for the underground tour tickets on our way to the museum - unnecessary; but the small museum was great. The highlight was definitely the walking tour. We did the regular underground tour they have multiple times a day, our guide was AMAZING! We had a wonderful time and I learned many things I hadn't heard before. I'd love to come back and do the later underground tour for 18+ sometime. Great visit, great history.
Megan N — Google review
While their underground tour is a neat idea, the reality is you only get to see basically a block of the original city. The tour guide spent two-thirds of the time telling us a historical narrative on the character he was supposed to be, and while some might find that interesting and it was somewhat informative with regard to the historical period, I would have preferred to learn and see more of Sacramento's original lower city. The price is also expensive in relation to the experience in my opinion. Photos are also not permitted for "copyright" reasons; however, most of what tour visitors see underground is dirt flooring and brick walls.
Brenna H — Google review
Really cool museum! I honestly didn't have high expectations but it turned out to be a lot of fun. I learned a lot, mainly that Sacramento has a much more colorful and intriguing history than I knew about. It's also very spacious - there's a lot to explore. My 5-year-old even enjoyed it. We did the underground tour first, and it was super super interesting, and museum admission is included in your tour ticket. Recommended!

Old Sacramento Waterfront, a 28-acre area established in the 1960s, offers a rich historical experience with its visitor center, museums, and various history tours. The California State Railroad Museum showcases meticulously restored trains from the Gold Rush era while the Sacramento History Museum provides guided tours of underground spaces and streets. Additionally, visitors can explore the interactive California Museum featuring the California Hall of Fame.
Visiting the Old Sacramento Waterfront felt like stepping straight into the Old West. With its wooden boardwalks, vintage storefronts, and preserved 19th-century architecture, the entire area oozes historic charm. It’s a beautifully maintained district that brings Gold Rush-era California to life in a way that’s both authentic and fun. The area is easily walkable, making it perfect for a relaxed afternoon of exploring. There’s a wide variety of unique shops, candy stores, souvenir spots, and interesting museums, plus a great selection of restaurants and bars — whether you’re in the mood for a casual bite or a sit-down meal with river views. Old Sacramento is more than just a tourist spot — it’s an experience. Whether you’re a history buff, a foodie, or just looking to enjoy a scenic stroll, this riverside district is well worth the visit. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the Sacramento area!

Spent the morning walking through while waiting for a flight. Area was lovely to walk around, and we enjoyed the short history bulrups. Along the corners. They were informative , but Short Which kept me from feeling like I was reading a novel. Down side to be there in there early in the morning shops were not open yet. However, there's a lovely coffee shop one could get breakfast at to kill time while you wait to shop.

Great history area. Loved the authentic, old train that you can ride on! The California train museum has so many beautiful restored locomotives and train cars that you can walk through. Also. I found the United States mail train to be extremely interesting! I did not know that the post office used to operate trains for the mail!

The Old Sacramento Waterfront is such a gem. It's full of charm, history, and great local energy. Whether you’re walking along the cobblestone streets, browsing through unique shops, or watching the river roll by, there’s always something to enjoy. One of my favorite stops is The Atrium It’s an absolute must-visit! It’s a creative hub filled with local art, sustainable brands, and friendly makers. You can shop for beautifully handcrafted pieces, sip and paint in their cozy art space, or explore the gallery to see inspiring work by local artists. It’s the perfect mix of relaxation and creativity and a wonderful way to support Sacramento’s art community. If you’re spending a day at the waterfront, make sure to carve out some time at The Atrium. You’ll leave with a full heart, maybe a handmade treasure, and definitely a smile.

We stopped in old Sacramento on our way to Lake Tahoe and had lunch and walked around the town. It was a wonderful experience. The little town was so cute and great little shops. Definitely worth stopping here one of the best capitals I have been to. It was a great way to break up the trip and had a wonderful time.

There is nothing much to do or to look in Sacramento. One of the beautiful place is Old Sacramento Waterfront area. It contains: a Historical Bridge that opens the Sac Downtown, Sac Railway street exhibition and the Railway Museum, the Watertaxi Peir and the Delta Hotel/Restaurant (Titanic Ship), old street with some restored buildings as they might have been looking decades ago, as well as a tunnel with a historical installation (Sacramento Historical Timeline). There are also a variety of souvenir shops and small cafes.

A great place to take your family or out-of-town guests to relax while exploring the Capital City's history. It's a magical feeling to drive a modern EV imported from Vietnam over a brick road built in the 1800s for horse-drawn wagons. My wife and I enjoyed walking along the boat docks from the Delta King to the other side of the golden Tower Bridge. There are many shops, waterfront restaurants, and even the California State Railroad Museum if you love old trains.

We walked around in the middle of the night so as you would expect it was an eery feeling but also very peaceful at the same time. It's actually pretty great that they have security securing the place. What's really needed in this area is a public restroom that is open during the nights

California State Capitol Park is a picturesque green space in Sacramento, offering a blend of history, natural beauty, and pet-friendly amenities. Established in 1863, the park features Victorian gardens surrounding the Capitol building, along with memorials and monuments that make it a unique destination. Visitors can stroll through flower gardens and walking paths while taking in the scenic views of Sacramento's skyline. The park also welcomes leashed dogs, making it an ideal spot for pet owners to explore with their furry companions.
Beautiful grounds for a walk or sit with your thoughts. There is construction, but it was not oppressive. Smell the roses, see the reproduction of the Liberty Bell, and pay respect to our first responders.
Joe O — Google review
I haven't been since I was a kid in the 80s. I remembered very little, and it was truly beautiful. Most of the monuments are amazing, and the rest are great. The only downside when we went is that there is a huge Capitol Annex construction project going on, and a good chunk of the park closest to the Capitol Bldg is off limits. Thankfully, you don't really know what you're missing unless you explore it online, too. We did this as a field trip for our homeschooled 12 year old, and we all had a great time.
Erik P — Google review
What a wonderful oasis in the center of the city. We loved how most of the trees and bushes were labeled with their origin and common and scientific name. There were lots of people wandering around like us, and folks with blankets on the abundant lawns. The liberty bell replica is interesting, and we really loved the powerful fireman’s memorial.

Very impressive specimen trees in the Arboretum, some around a hundred years ago. Really nice elms, eucalyptus, and camphor in particular. The rose garden was lovely and well tended. Fixing the water fountains and improving plant signage would elevate the experience.

We arrived on a weekday and everything inside was closed. There's construction going on nearby, so everything is fenced off. But we walked along a small path and it was still beautiful.

One of Sacramento’s most beautiful parks with hundreds of trees: redwoods, giant sequoia, magnolias, orange trees, and palms.. Excellent photo opportunities with the Capitol. The World Peace Rose Garden is so fragrant with benches to relax and enjoy the surroundings. I also liked the cactus garden. Parking is along the street, and restroom in the middle of the park. Note: There was ongoing construction around the Capitol.

As far as capital Parks go this is pretty decent but they're all rather nice I'd say this is like standard fare. One thing I love in stands out is how they have all the various fauna and other vegetative life that is not only diverse but listed with little labels on each one

Catholic cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
The Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, located in Downtown Sacramento, is a magnificent Catholic church with Italian Renaissance-style architecture and a towering dome reaching 175 feet high. This opulent landmark not only serves as a place of worship but also stands out as an architectural marvel. Visitors can enjoy guided tours to learn about its history and design, and partake in musical events held within its Victorian interior.
I have been attending Mass at the Cathedral for many years, and let me tell you, it has been an incredible journey! In 2012, I had the privilege of joining the cathedral choir on a pilgrimage to Spain and Fatima, which was an experience of a lifetime. The kindness and helpfulness of Bishop Soto and all the others involved in the cathedral are truly heartwarming. Now, let me tell you about the amazing choir director, Rex. This person is simply extraordinary! His talent and passion for music shine through in every performance, making the Mass even more uplifting and inspiring. One of the things I love most about this church is the abundance of prayer altars. You can light a candle or simply find a quiet spot to offer your most holy prayers. And if you take a moment to sit in the church and look up, you'll always find Jesus, the most high, eagerly waiting to hear your prayer requests or simply be present in adoration. The beauty of the church is truly captivating. From the stations of the cross to the stunning artwork, every corner is filled with awe-inspiring sights. And let's not forget the holy water, which is always plentiful and ready for you to bless yourself or take some home. The Cathedral also offers various sacraments and services, including weddings, baptisms, confessions, and prayers for all. Make sure to check their website for specific times and dates, as this is not my parish church. In conclusion, I cannot recommend this Cathedral enough! It is a place of deep spirituality, breathtaking beauty, and a community that truly cares. Whether you're a regular attendee or a visitor, you're bound to have a truly remarkable experience.

Just a beautiful church. My niece was married here last month. Previous to this event we’ve had baptisms here and in memory of ceremony. I highly recommend it.
Claudia E — Google review
We stopped in while on vacation - tried the front doors (it was open, but you had to use the side door to the left of the main entrance) and another visitor told us the door was along the side of the building. Once inside - AMAZING. This Cathedral is done from top to bottom. So much to see, beautiful worship places and more. We prayed, looked around, etc. Beautiful place!
Megan N — Google review
Love that they offer daily confessions at 11:30. Line gets long quickly so arrive early. Very quiet prayerful atmosphere to pray before 12:10pm mass. Nice quick prayerful mass. Beautiful church!

Always stunningly beautiful to see it so long after the renovation was spectacular.
Chris H — Google review
Beautiful Cathedral in the heart of Downtown Sacramento! Weekday Mass is at 12:10pm, giving you just enough time to head over during the noon break. The artwork, stained glass, and statues, not yo mention the woodwork, are truly inspiring and will quickly put you into a mood of awe and reverence. I noticed several cameras and speakers, so that would make me think Masses are recorded and aired at some time. Tours are available in both English and Spanish - check the website for times. I did not see any place for parking, so that would make me believe you would need to find street parking or find a nearby garage.

Set your religion aside, stay quiet and respectful, people will be using the sanctuary for there beliefs when you visit. It has an echo so speak soft if you have to and avoid heeled shoes, it will sound like a bull is walking in boots lol. It will make your jaw drop as a work of art.

Golden 1 Center is a multi-purpose indoor arena located in Sacramento, California. It serves as the home of the NBA's Sacramento Kings and also hosts a variety of concerts and events throughout the year. The arena, which opened in 2016, boasts striking architecture and is LEED-certified. In addition to basketball games, it welcomes touring acts such as Kanye West and Lady Gaga.
I recently visited Golden 1 Center in Sacramento for an event, and I had a great experience! The place is modern, clean, and well-designed. As soon as you walk in, everything feels organized and welcoming. One thing that really stood out to me was the sound and video quality—it was amazing. The audio was super clear, even in the upper sections, and you could feel the event without it being too loud or uncomfortable. The video screens were huge and super sharp, so no matter where you’re sitting, you can still see everything on stage clearly. That made the whole experience much better, especially during the live show. The seats were comfortable, and the arena felt spacious but still had a cozy vibe. Staff were helpful and polite, and there were lots of food options—everything from snacks to full meals, with some local choices too, which was nice. It’s also in a great location, right in downtown Sacramento, so you can walk to restaurants and parking is nearby. Overall, I’d definitely recommend Golden 1 Center for concerts, basketball games, or any big events. The technology, the atmosphere, and the energy of the crowd all make it a memorable place to visit!

We watched Maroon 5 here! AMAZING SHOW! Section 210 Row B. Our seats were awesome! It was worth the 3 hour drive on a Friday to get here from bay area. I def prefer this place over Chase in SF. The seatin is not a steep. There's lots of restaurants within walking distance. Parking garage is next door, less than a 10 minute walk. Inside there lots of beer & alcohol vendors and different food. We had dinner at YardHouse and cookies from Insomnia cookies, so we just snacked on popcorn and bottled water during the concert. Oh they remove all caps from the sodas and waters...FYI. We'll be back!

I watched my very first NBA game here — Lakers vs Kings — and it was such an amazing experience! The exterior design is stunning, with a modern metallic finish that looks great day or night. The crowd outside was full of excitement, and everyone was wearing jerseys, taking photos, and getting ready for the game. Even though I bought one of the cheapest tickets, the view was much better than I expected — I could clearly see the players and their movements. The lighting, sound system, and energy inside the arena were absolutely incredible. The atmosphere was electric — thousands of fans cheering, the big screen showing every play in perfect clarity, and the staff were super friendly and organized. It’s definitely a must-visit spot in Sacramento if you love basketball or want to feel the real NBA energy in person! 💜💛

Great venue to see a concert, drinks can get pricey and their Bag policy is very strict although they now have a bag Check booth outside the venue. Lots of Eateries and Bars to fuel up on before your event.

We were here for the Linkin Park concert. Good quick access from all sides. Lots of doors and staff, so the huge queue moves quickly. Easy to navigate inside. We like to walk, so we left the car in a parking lot 15 minutes away, where there was plenty of space and it only cost $5.
Nikolai B — Google review
Great experience very nice venue, also pretty good food around the area. I would recommend parking near old town near I street as the parking is cheaper at night and only a block or so away.

RJ A — Google review
Last night’s Playboi Carti concert at the Golden 1 Center was nothing short of electric — from the moment I parked to the final lights-out roar of the crowd, everything about this venue and experience was perfectly smooth and high-energy in all the right ways. Let’s start with parking — honestly one of the easiest concert arrivals I’ve had at a major arena. Downtown Sacramento can get chaotic on event nights, but Golden 1 Center has their system dialed in. Signs were clear, attendants were friendly and professional, and I found a spot within minutes. Leaving afterward was just as seamless — traffic flowed efficiently, and I was out of the garage and on I-5 in less than ten minutes. The moment I walked up to the arena, the vibe was unreal. The crowd energy was buzzing — people dressed in full Opium-inspired fits, camera flashes everywhere, and the bass from the sound check already rumbling through the pavement. The staff at the entrance handled the lines quickly and courteously, scanning tickets with zero hassle. Security was on point but not overbearing — friendly, efficient, and respectful. Inside, the venue itself looked immaculate. You can tell Golden 1 Center is kept in top shape — everything from the polished floors to the sparkling restrooms (yes, even mid-concert) showed how much pride the staff takes in maintaining the space. Concessions were clean, lines moved fast, and the staff kept smiles on their faces all night despite the huge crowd. I was seated in section 122, and the view was perfect — close enough to feel the energy but still wide enough to take in the full stage design. The acoustics in this arena are next-level. You could feel every bass drop from Carti’s set, but it was clean and balanced — not the usual muffled distortion you sometimes get at big shows. The lighting setup was insane: flashing strobes, blood-red beams, smoke bursts timed perfectly with the beats — the production team absolutely crushed it. And Playboi Carti himself? Pure chaos in the best possible way. The energy in that building was unreal — mosh pits breaking out, fans screaming every lyric, the floor bouncing like a living heartbeat. Every track hit harder than the last, and the transitions were flawless. You could tell Carti feeds off his crowd — the intensity, the movement, the wild sense of community that forms in those moments. One thing I really appreciated was how attentive and cool the staff were throughout. I saw employees handing out water to overheated fans, helping people find their seats, and keeping everything under control without ever killing the vibe. It felt safe, organized, and fun all at once — a perfect balance. When the show finally ended and the lights came up, the whole place was glowing. Cleanup crews were already out making sure exits stayed clear and trash was picked up — another detail that shows how well-run this venue is. Overall, Golden 1 Center delivered an A+ experience from start to finish. Easy parking, spotless facilities, organized entry, great staff, and world-class production made this one of the best concert nights I’ve had in years. If you’re planning to see a show in Sacramento, there’s no better spot than here. Thank you Golden 1 Center for hosting an unforgettable night — and thank you Playboi Carti for turning the city into a full-on inferno. Definitely a 5-star experience across the board.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Tower Bridge, also known as Sacramento Bridge, is a landmark vertical lift bridge connecting downtown Sacramento with West Sacramento. Completed in 1935, it features 160-ft towers and accommodates both vehicle and pedestrian lanes. Recognized for its industrial beauty in the Streamline Moderne style, the bridge was awarded for its architectural significance. Coated in gold paint as a tribute to Sacramento's Gold Rush heritage, it offers picturesque views of the Sacramento River.
Beautiful landmark in the heart of Sacramento! I had such a peaceful experience walking across Tower Bridge. The golden structure stands out beautifully—especially around sunset when the lights begin to glow. It’s not just a bridge—it’s a piece of Sacramento history with a really unique design that makes for great photos. You get a fantastic view of the river and the city skyline, and it’s a great spot for an evening stroll or bike ride. Definitely worth visiting if you’re in the area!

Meet Sacramento’s Tower Bridge—the Art Deco diva of the river. Born in the 1930s New Deal era, it’s a vertical-lift showboat whose middle section rides up like an elevator so boats can strut through. She started out juggling cars and trains (multitasking queen) before ditching the tracks in the ’60s for more lanes. And that blinding “California Gold” glow? Locals picked it—because if you’re gonna be a landmark, you might as well sparkle. 🌉✨ And sparkle it does. The bridge is home to the iconic farm to fork meal, the Tower Bridge Dinner.

Coming back is easy because the setting changes with the seasons and with the time of day that you visit.

Honestly it's a great place to get away. If you like the city but hate camping, go here for a few hours. Plenty of wildlife, trees and plants to feel like your in the mountains, but next to a golf course Wait there is golf? If you have the money for that "sport" yes there is a golf club next to the wildlife center. Sometimes the deer walk out to the 8th hole! Wait there's more? Pft yeah. A huge green lawn for your dog to go wild! Fun for the whole family and more. Seriously there was like this 60 year old lady walking the trails in a mini skirt and heels. After seeing that you have no excuse to walk five feet on a dirt path to see deer.

It was a probing visit because I drove through this place many times but was unable to visit it. Aesthetically very well organised. $35 for a pass regardless ages. For this price you got credit points which can be used it for unlimited mini golf field training (just ask for equipment), baseball traiming (if you exhausted your credits, you can add more in the battle room) and in the battle room (each try is between $2.75 - $10). There is a lot of space for parties but you have to reserve it in advance). Many attractions offered rides on age-limited basis (such as Go Carts or Water Boat rides). Kids should be accompanied by adults while on board. Free parking are always available and located right at front of this Fun Center. This place is a bit expensive for all offered entertainment but it is up to your budget.

Have been using their batting cages for a long time. But recently they've gotten dangerous. I've noticed the inconsistency in calibrating the machines over the last couple of years but recently they have been so off. And now they are no longer requiring you to wear helmets. I was so consistently adjusting my self and s got hit in the hand 2x in 15 pitches by a 60 mil per hour ball. My husband wanted to try a faster pitch and went in after me, boom 3rd pitch him too. It boused my bone and jammed it and I was in a brace for 6 weeks. I let them know all the cages were really off but cage 6 was dangerous. ( Becouse in cages we swing at everything, it is harder to adjust) I was not going to do a review, but recently speaking to some one who was there for hours. I told them my story, and they asked," Cage 6? " They said they wached 3 or more people in that cage get hit the same way. They also complained . Feal like now they have been told several times, and it was noticeable.

Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park is a large indoor trampoline center that offers various activities such as open jump, fitness classes, dodgeball, and parties. The park features trampolines in every direction, dodgeball zones, warrior courses, slacklines, foam pits and airbags, slam dunk zones, and more. It's a great place to let off some steam while burning calories and having fun.
MEL was an amazing party hostess! She was so down to earth! Birthday parties can be hectic but she handled everything so gracefully. She was kind, caring attentive, and patient. All request that were made she took care of them promptly. She made sure the party ran as smoothly as possible and she was very helpful in assisting and meeting all needs. I would definitely recommend her to anyone! Thank you so much for everything, everyone enjoyed themselves, ESPECIALLY those wings!!!!!!!! Thanks for everything!

great place to bring children to play while using their gross and fine motor skills, test their balance, and have fun with their peers. This place also offers packages for birthday parties. Two years ago, my son had his birthday here after being invited to a friend's birthday. Kids had a great time, and since then, Urban Air has become one of our favorite places for little adventure. Great customer service.

Disappointing Changes for Older and Special Needs Kids (As of 6/17/25, the bumper cars are no longer available.) I used to love Urban Air, but lately it’s really gone downhill. ESpecially for families with older kids or kids with special needs. I have two children: a 6-year-old and a 16-year-old who is autistic and developmentally around age 3. Because of his height and size, most attractions are now off limits for him. He can’t use the zip line, he doesn’t enjoy trampolines (the lack of body control causes distress), and now the one activity he felt confident doing, the bumper cars, has been removed entirely. After the bumper cars were taken out, he tried to play in the indoor play area under the zip line, but was told he had to leave because it's only for children 4’2” and under. He was devastated. Now the only thing he’s allowed to do is laser tag. That’s it. When I bought summer season passes, nothing on the website clearly stated that many attractions are restricted by height or geared mostly toward younger kids. I expected there to be more inclusive options, especially for kids who don’t fit neatly into age or height categories. It’s incredibly hard to have one child who still enjoys coming here while the other is left sitting on the sidelines, bored and excluded, unless we spend extra money at the arcade, which adds up quickly. Unfortunately, this will be our last visit. Urban Air used to be a fun, inclusive place, but it no longer offers anything meaningful for my older child. I hope they reconsider removing attractions like the bumper cars and offer more options for kids of all sizes and abilities.

The park was great, lots of fun attractions, zip line, trampolines, obstacle course, sky obstacle course, arcade games, and good food. Also has okay restrooms. But the only thing is that the announcements are really loud and the entire atmosphere is just noisy. The most people come at afternoon so just come earlier.

Julie and Mel were phenomenal with our party. Super attentive and ready to help us. Some parts of our time here got a little tense with our guests but Julie always kept her composure and was incredibly polite throughout the whole thing. Mel came by to check in on us and was ready to help with anything we needed. These two ladies totally saved our experience and our guests left happy thanks to them. Will definitely be booking here again. Thank you Julie and Mel!

We had an amazing time kids all enjoyed them selves. Our host Yesenia made the experience so much more enjoyable and smooth. I highly recommend her for any party you have at Urban Air. Thank you Yesenia! She was very attentive and helpful in making our experience one to remember.

Bought the summer membership that said it came with discounts at the cafe. But I was told they do not offer discounts when I ordered slushies for my kids. Wish they honored the deal I signed up for. Other than that, my kids have fun. Lots of different things to do! Always seems busy. Seats are uncomfortable for the parents who are there waiting. Some of the staff could use a personality. I probably won't get passes again.
Aubrey S — Google review
I really great place to bring the kids to play for hours on end. Of course your height is gonna play a big role on what you can do. Can't wait to see the laser tag they place to open down the road. Food isn't bad also. Pizza, chicken tenders, fries and beer. Say what! The nachos had an after taste that wasn't pleasant. This place is all good and fun until somebody gets hurt and so far nobody has gotten hurt so we good. Will be back.. Update.. this place now has Lazer tag and go kart.. that's a plus but still 4 stars

Nestled within the serene expanse of McKinley Park in East Sacramento, the McKinley Rose Garden, also known as the Frederick N. Evans Memorial Rose Garden, is a stunning oasis that boasts over 1,200 vibrant rose bushes. This enchanting garden serves as a picturesque venue for weddings and events, offering charming paths and inviting benches where visitors can relax and soak in the beauty around them.
Wow! Such a pretty spot! Great location for photos to be taken or just if you want to stop and see all the different colors and smell the roses do that too! Also, If you can find parking along the side of the park grab it quick!

Will always feel like Heaven to me!!! Beautiful variety of roses 🌹 in different colors and shapes! Stop by to do photos and capture mini moments forever 😊❤️. Sometimes when it is reserved for events and weddings, sadly guests can't go take pictures. So just be mindful if that😊💛🌹❤️

Our family has visited this lovely rose garden, nestled in the corner of Sacramento's historic McKinley Park and neighborhood, many times over the past 27 years. The best time to visit is from late spring, around Mother's Day, through mid-summer. It's a gorgeous and romantic setting, perfect for taking photos and videos. With at least 50 kinds of roses in many different color variations, it's a great place to relax by walking or simply sitting on a bench and reading a book.
Nam N — Google review
Nice spot. Seems like there’s a lot of different types of roses, and there are little plaques for who donated that portion of the garden or explain explaining what type of rose you’re looking at. Only issue I noticed is that some people will have picnics right in the middle of the path clothing off entire sections. Given that the garden is a small portion a massive park. I think those people could be a little bit more considerate and have their picnic outside the rose garden.
Chris F — Google review
We were in Sacramento for a day and wanted to go for a walk so we went to the park. We were here on April 19 and the roses were in bloom big time. The rose garden is huge and they have an amazing variety of colors and sizes. The fragrance was quite intoxicating.

One of the most beautiful and wonderful parks and gardens in Sacramento. It is truly a wonderful natural masterpiece for walking and children to play in.

This is so romantic 🥰.. I would recommend this place to couple, lovers, flower lovers, nature lovers, family, friends, and for kids to learn about flower. There’s a lot of varieties of rose flowers . I was hoping to get some of these seeds for sale but nothing to buy from there. But this is so lovely and good for wedding proposal or wedding photo shots .

A guided tour of Sacramento's underground foundations can reveal the city's history and architecture.
My spouse and I had so much fun on the Sacramento tour a week ago! I'm just getting to post about it now. Our guide was Madame Anne Seymour, in character from the 1800s the whole time. We loved hearing all the salacious and wild stories of the early days of Sacramento and seeing the old buildings. It was a fun way to spend an evening and learn a bit in the process. I definitely recommend it!
Sara F — Google review
Lots of history on this tour. Growing up in the Bay Area we’ve never been to this area. The weather was a little drizzly but the tour was fun. We had a 7 and 9 year old and they both enjoyed it. We made reservations online a week before and tickets included admission to the museum
Christina W — Google review
An amazing tour on the history of gold rush, humans’ greed, resilience, ingenuity, innovation, kindness, tolerance and team work. The tour guide ( Maria ) was a nice senior lady who loved her job, was knowledgable and had a strong communication skills. That costed me only $25 for the tour and visiting the museum. Parking was available on the street for $1.75 an hours using city’s meter.
Owen R — Google review
Fascinating walk beneath the old city streets. The tour guide shared local stories and it felt immersive. A little damp underground, bring shoes you don’t mind getting a bit dusty.
Maria J — Google review
You learn so much from this tour and it is all so interesting (even for those that are not into history). The guide really takes you back in time and gets into character by acting as though she is someone from that time. She'll answer any question as though she was living it. It was very cool! I definitely recommend this tour for anyone visiting Sacramento, even for a last minute plan.
Berenice O — Google review
Good tour, the tour guide added lots of interesting info and was cool to here about how they jacked up the buildings to make them level with the newly raised streets.
E 3 — Google review
Drove two hours to get here at 1pm, which was fine because the website says that the last ticket was sold at 4:30. The person at the ticket counter informed us that the last tour was at 12. They said they would "make a note of it" about the false information on the website. Get it together!
Desiree F — Google review
This was a fun tour. It starts at the History Museum in Old Sacramento. You get a head s set with volume control to wear during the tour. A guide dressed in 1800’s attire leads you down the street pointing out significant buildings and characters that helped to build Old Sacramento in the 1840’s-1860’s. Then you got underground where you get to see artifacts and learn how the city was raised to avoid flooding. Very interesting your.

What a gem! We had a marvelous time visiting this interesting and somehwat novel building and the tenant wineries. Clarksburg area grows some very good quality grapes and have very skilled winemakers and servers in the individual wineries. It was a pleasant experience all around. This is a unique venue and well worth the time to visit. You'll not be disappointed! They also have food trucks that come and hang out for the people server some grub. We plan to return the next time we are in the Sacramento area. 100% recommend!

We had the most incredible experience at The Old Sugar Mill for our wedding, and we can’t recommend it enough. From the moment we walked in, the venue took our breath away. The atmosphere was absolutely stunning, with its historic charm and elegant beauty. Our guests couldn't stop raving about the venue all night long! A huge shoutout to Amy, our wedding coordinator, who made the entire day run seamlessly. Amy was incredibly attentive and detail-oriented, ensuring that everything was exactly as we envisioned. She took care of every little thing, allowing us to enjoy our day without a single worry. It was clear that Amy was fully invested in making our day perfect, and she truly exceeded our expectations. Thanks to Amy and The Old Sugar Mill, our wedding day was everything we dreamed of and more. It was an unforgettable experience that we’ll cherish forever.

Highly recommend! We went on Tuesday afternoon and there were only a few other groups there when we arrived. Country Road Wine Cellars was open but most of the others had closed. We did the tasting for $15 which for 6 pours was extremely fair. They waive your tasting fee if you purchase any wine which of course we did. Our server was very nice to both our children and attentive to us when we needed something else to try.

We hosted our wedding here this month and I cannot recommend this place enough. Not only is the property beautiful, but the staff is so friendly, professional, and on top of everything. Our venue coordinator, Amy, made planning a wedding a breeze. We also had some wine tastings here for our wedding and the staff at each winery is equally welcoming and friendly. We got so many compliments from our wedding guests on our choice of venue. Our wedding was the most perfect day and a huge thank you to Old Sugar Mill for hosting.

Finally got the Girls Together!!! A mother-daughter eventful wine-tasting date which was well overdue. My 1st time here, 1st experience but, I heard all nice thing's about it. We dressed up a little and had a great time. A beautiful day to hang out together and enjoy what Old Sugar Mill has to offer. There were several wine vendors to choose from. I like that you can get a list of what is offered beforehand so you can decide on how to proceed. We chose 2 different vendors and also had a nice bite to eat on the patio area. Our only complaint would be that we'd love for them to offer indoor seating for customers that purchase food and spend the day at the venue. We had trouble finding seating so that we could eat our food and food is not allowed to be eaten in the main lobby, vestibule, or hall. We were able to get enough seats by bribing the dj outside lol! We asked if we could borrow his chair. He was really sweet. We ordered food from the various food trucks available & the soulfood truck was a hit with their Macaroni and Cheese... We had so much fun at both wine tasting spots. We even thought about ending with a wine slushy that looked so tempting but, we decided against it because we were leaving soon. I can't wait to go back and make more memories I recommend this place to all. We Had So Much Fun!!!

The Aerospace Museum of California, situated on the former McClellan Air Force Base, offers a captivating journey through aviation history. Visitors can explore a diverse collection of military and civilian aircraft, including iconic planes like the A-10 fighter jet and the F-14 Tomcat. The museum also provides interactive experiences such as flight simulators where licensed pilot instructors guide participants through digital skies. Additionally, visitors can enjoy motion simulator rides and film screenings documenting significant moments in space exploration.
This Museum is amazing! I didn't want to post too many photos because spoilers are not always welcome! If you like aircrafts or space exploration, you could probably spend half your day here! On the second floor there are flight simulators for a variety of aircraft. There are kids activities all over the place on the main floor. Their collection of aircrafts is impressive! It's definitely worth a visit!

Kids had a blast! (8, 11, 13). Unfortunately, a field trip got in right before us...(See below) Interactive activities inside: - Flight simulator - Legos - many other tables to flex creativity (I even got involved) Downside: BEWARE OF FIELD TRIPS!!!! - Viewing planes: 20-40min to view all - Can you go in planes? NO! I believe only on certain days. But I could be wrong. - Helicopter: You could go in. But at least 80kids lined up, not today... - Flight simulator: 30min experience. Instructor has to be present with you (only 2 instructors out of the 10 simulators. Given a field trip got in before us, 30min for each kid lined up, was NOT realistic.

This museum features a 40,000 square foot exhibit hall, over 40 historic aircraft and rockets and flight simulators. Today, I arrived on a warm weekend morning to explore this museum. I am fond of museums especially aviation. This museum is good place to expose and teach kids about STEM programs. Moreover, this museum has great collection of aeronautical artifacts and ww2 history. Staff were knowledgeable and friendly. Admission prices were reasonable. Gift shop was modest. Parking lot has ample of space. Overall, it’s a good museum. I recommend you visit.

Fan-freaking-tastic. I've always wanted to fly most of these planes in real life, but the most I got was being able to fly them in my homebrew PC set-up with VR and a yoke. Seeing them in person though, along with the fantastic and amazing staff, made it everything I've wanted. Am I a bit autistic? Probably! Extremely thrilled about seeing an A-10 in person and an SR71 air spike? Absofreakinglutely. The ticket price isn't bad at all, and if I didn't have only an hour left in the day I would've tried the Sims if they were open. I'll be back for sure :)

Nestled in the picturesque William Land Park, Funderland Amusement Park has been a beloved destination for families since its inception in 1946. Spanning two acres, this charming amusement park is designed specifically for younger adventurers, offering nine delightful rides and attractions that cater to children aged two to twelve. Visitors can enjoy classic experiences like a vintage carousel and the Flying Dragon Roller Coaster, alongside interactive play areas such as the new Fort Funhouse—a two-story jungle gym perfect for climbing and sliding.
Perfect for kids under 8. Lots of rides, clean and staffed with pleasant people. Food choices are limited and no outside food but 2-3 hours is a long enough visit. Right near the Zoo and Fairyland .

It is a great option for parents with kids under 7 years old. It’s affordable, and with snack time included, they can play for 2–3 hours. No waiting, and the rides—though a bit old—still feel safe. 🔹Long Review: This is a very good choice for parents with children under the age of 7. The price is quite affordable, and if you include some time for snacks, kids can easily enjoy themselves for 2 to 3 hours. I’m not sure it’s worth staying beyond 3 hours, and I wouldn’t recommend it for kids over 7. One big plus is that there’s no waiting time—kids can ride whatever they want as much as they like. The rides are a bit old, but they don’t seem unsafe.

Funderland in Sacramento has been an iconic family destination since 1946. This small amusement park consists of 10 rides, such as merry-go-round, rollercoaster, spinning teacups, etc. The target audience is 3-10 year old children. One ride (Octopus) is only for children, and other rides (like airplanes or stagecoach) are too narrow for most adults. Entry fee is currently $17 for each adult and $24 for children. The entry fee includes unlimited rides. There are snack and sweet stands on site, but no full restaurant. Overall, it's a fun day out for families with small children.

Fun, affordable place to take your kids! Easy to find free parking. Little to no wait times for the carnival rides. Not a large park so it is easy to navigate and let the kids have fun. It’s clean, has food and drinks for sale and the staff is friendly and helpful. The kids really enjoyed it and has plenty of shade - there are picnic tables, too. The bathrooms in the park are porta potties, but it is not the type of park you will spend all day at, and the porta potties were clean. I’d definitely take my kids back again.

Absolutely a blast brought our 3 year old son he was able to ride every ride here they were all open and running zero wait time really wonderful place . Don’t listen to the negative reviews this place was great. Definitely for kids 6 and under. We spent 3 hours here and my son was never once bored very friendly staff. Went on a Friday there was face paint she did wonderful job super nice and cheap . Worth the drive and visit will be returning for sure . My husband and I were also able to ride with my son on every ride.
Lily W — Google review
We made a 4 hour visit with a 30 min. picnic lunch in the park. Lines were moderate and rarely over a 5 min wait. They were having ride operators work two rides per employee so you had to time your ride choice accordingly. Employees were very accommodating and all were in good spirits and engaged with children and adults in a positive way. This is a great place to spend a half day at with plenty of other entertainment nearby. Best for children between the age of 3-8 years old but toddlers and pre teens have multiple ride options. The landscape, surface areas and tables and benches were clean and well maintained. I definitely would recommend a visit to this place.

Originally founded as a touring company focused on children’s theater, B Street has since expanded its repertoire to include performances aimed at adults and various music events.
My new favorite local theater! We are subscribers and love every production over the past year and excited about the 2025 season! Classy, affordable, great acting, great seats, full bar (with real glasses) special events and freebies to subscribers. There is a family series and music venues as well. Great theater and good parking at Sutter garage and on the street. The theater has quite a slope which means no matter how tall the person in front of you is, you still have an an unobstructed view. But it does mean your vantage point is rather high up. So lower down seats are still preferable.

The B Street Theatre’s production of The Art of War is a fantastic tour de force of a comedy—a perfect mirror of American culture in this moment. A very philosophical friend once reminded me that art which is truly current is vital, as it reflects and expresses the culture specific to its time. Dave Pierini’s world premiere—his screenplay and production of The Art of War—is a fine example of contemporary dramatic art. What begins as a seemingly superficial tit-for-tat drama quickly turns visceral, revealing something entirely different—surprising, entertaining, and brimming with recognizable stereotypes, sharp dialogue, and witty quips. I’m already on the lookout for the next production at the exceptional B Street Theatre.
Pamela B — Google review
B Street Theatre at The Sofia is truly one of Sacramento’s hidden gems! From the moment you walk in, the energy, creativity, and professionalism of this place shine through. The staff is welcoming, the seating is comfortable, and every show feels personal — you can tell the performers love what they do. I recently attended a performance and was blown away by the talent, storytelling, and stage design. The production quality rivals big-city theaters, yet it still feels intimate and connected. Whether it’s comedy, drama, or live music, B Street Theatre delivers world-class entertainment right here in Midtown Sacramento. If you’re searching for “things to do in Sacramento,” “live theater near me,” or “Sacramento performing arts,” this is the spot. They feature local and national talent, offer family-friendly shows, and even host community events. The Sofia isn’t just a theater — it’s an experience. Five stars for keeping the arts alive in Sacramento, providing amazing performances, and creating a space that inspires creativity for all ages.

Great science museum, very hands-on, lots of fun and creative activities for kids. Our 7 and 10 year old love this place! Special mention for the planetarium show - the "tour of the universe" blew our minds
Nicolas F — Google review
Little costly but definitely worth it. Plenty of parking, there's a snack deli restaurant, planetarium, exhibits. Very cool and very interesting. I saw the night sky show at 1 pm. So informative I was stoked. I will be looking up tonight because I know how to find the north star and the story of Pegasus and Andromeda. So awesome! They have music themed 7 pm laser light shows as well. And 4 different other topics i can't remember of the top of my head.

Something for everyone from olfactory and sound guessing game, nature guess who, planetarium. Building areas with plenty for so many kids, space exhibit, medical area, water conservation room with fun salmon game and animal finder games. Better than most kid/science museums that a lot of the activities or exhibits are broken or need refreshing. Occupied our family of 7y,13y,15y for 1.5 hrs until planetarium and we didn't even see everything!

We had such a fun and memorable day at MOSAC, the Sacramento Museum of Science and Curiosity...with my 14-year-old son and my almost 2-year-old grandson. It’s the perfect spot for a family outing with something for every age. My son was fascinated by the hands-on exhibits, especially in the Powering Change and Health Headlines areas. My grandson was full of giggles the entire time, but his absolute favorite part? The sound of someone sneezing in one of the interactive displays! He kept going back to hear it again and again, it totally made our day. The museum is clean, thoughtfully designed, and packed with opportunities to explore, learn, and have fun. Highly recommend MOSAC for families...whether you’ve got teens, toddlers, or anyone in between.

The Museum of Medical History is a free museum that showcases the evolution of medicine through its collection of antique instruments, artifacts, and a library. It offers visitors an insight into the developments in medical practices over time. The museum is part of the Free Museum Day event and provides an educational experience for those interested in the history of medicine. With its display of historical medical tools and resources, it offers a unique perspective on the advancements in healthcare.
I had a fantastic time at the museum. I learned a lot. It was fascinating to see the evolution of medical devices and the old patent medicines. The museum director even gave us a demonstration of their working Iron lung.

This place has a wonderful collection of medical technology used throughout the last couple of centuries. Plus, one of the only working vintage iron lungs around. GET VACCINATED, KIDS!

This place is a gem! Tucked away in a place that is out of the way, it is one of the most interesting places my wife and I have ever been. We easily spent an hour and never saw everything! If you have ever experienced a medical experience in your life, you will appreciate what you will see! The price of admission is free, but the experience is priceless!!!

I recently took my class to the medical museum so they can get a look at how medicine was and what we have accomplished throughout the years. Below is some feedback of what it was like through their eyes "I found yesterdays trip very eye opening because it seems surreal how before things used to be so different. Technology has improved so much as time has passed by so it was very interesting to see all the things used before and compare them to things we use now." "The museum of medical history was excellent! I really enjoyed getting to look at all of the old medical devices, especially the cardiac section. The doctors were also so nice and very informative and answered all our questions. Would love to go back and take my family with me." "I really enjoyed how the doctors allowed us to walk around freely and if we had questions they knew it all. I also enjoyed seeing the evolution of how medicine has advanced throughout the years." "The things I enjoyed at the medical museum we went to yesterday was the assort of different kinds of medication and medical equipment through the years. I really like the very first presentation of the iron lung and how it worked. I also enjoyed hearing the gentleman yesterday talk about their experience growing up." "I had a very good time during yesterdays trip. I enjoyed seeing how different tools in medicine were used back then and how they've greatly improved now in some aspects. I only wish we could have spent more time at the museum!" "I think that yesterday was a really good experience for me because I got to see how medicine has advanced and to me learning the history and getting to ask the doctors questions was a great opportunity. I wish we had more time their to explore and look around more so I will be going back!" "The museum of medical history was a brilliant idea of demonstrating how was the old medicine. Seen all these types of medication the old books. It comes to my mind that back in the days it was more difficult for the doctor to examine the patients. Because now days with technology and how advance is easier to identify a disease." "The advancements in prescription medicine that I thought were the most fascinating. A law prohibiting these medications from being lethal has to be implemented. We saw that at the time, heroin and whiskey were regarded as prescription drugs." "What I really enjoy in yesterdays trip was the back ground of everything we saw there. The doctors had a lot of knowledge of the things that were on the museum and the was so amazing to me. The fact that they know so much and they weren't there when the items were fist introduce yet they know so much like if they were there. I love how they took their time and explain everything with such passion." "What I loved from visiting the museum was getting all the new knowledge about the past and how they used to do things before us. I loved seeing all the old medicine bottles, injections, EKG machines, stethoscope, old items for testing diabetes and much more. I also, enjoyed how the doctors were explaining to us the items they had there and their background on how they were used before. Its amazing how much knowledge they have and shared with us." "I really like visiting the museum yesterday and looking at all the old things that were used in the medical field. I really loved seeing the old needles, outfits scales, medicines, stethoscopes and found them really cool. I also found the iron lung really cool what it was used for and how it works." "I was very amazed with all the natural history and everything that I was able to see at the Museum yesterday. Specially the all the old medical instruments and the advancements we have had. I wish we could have had more time to actually go over every single and get more details on the anatomy." Thank you for allowing us to come in! We look forward to future visits! -Ms. K UEI Stockton

My friend and I loved this place! Such a great place nerd out for an hour or 2. If you’re in the medical field or enjoy learning about history, then it’s a must go. They have a little of everything medical, and such much different equipment. There’s a lot there. I learned so much and gained such an appreciation for how far medicine has come. I loved it so much that I couldn’t stop until I read everything in the exhibit. Plus it was free to get in with no crowds.

Very interesting little museum with lots to see. We loved it all! We kept going back to the same displays because there were so many details to read and learn about. Makes you grateful for modern medicine but also makes you wonder what the future generations will say about our understanding of "modern medicine".

The museum of medical history is a hidden gem worth seeking out and spending an hour. Great museum, small, well organized, eye catching smartly grouped displays of medical history items from the early wild western days of Sacramento through mid-modern century. Super Engaging and knowledgeable docent, Dr. Bob LaPerriere to show you round some of the highlights. Each display has an easy to read interesting explanation, or you can open a QR code to listen to a narrative.

Good spot to watch movies in sacramento than any other theater ! Love we can bring our own food drinks and watch at our own comfort! Since its a open theater the clarity of the projection is little low ! but down the movie went we dint notice that much . definitely a good movie experience . Will watch again
Harish K — Google review
I’ll start this review saying I am biased towards this place because I’ve been coming since I was little and the nostalgia is strong. I love that there is a drive-in movie theatre so close by considered the next nearest one is 50 miles away in Concord. This place is an iconic landmark in my opinion and I rush being able to experience this in a world where movies are becoming more technologically sophisticated and expensive. I’m not sure when but they paved the parking ground so it’s not long just straight gravel and dirt like before which is really nice!! The reviews mention difficulty with seeing the movie, rowdy people around, and the concession stand being a mess. I was able to see and hear the movie just fine during my recent visit and there wasn’t rowdy people near us so I think that’s just a situational experience. Keep in mind noisy people are also at the closed off theaters too and you can close yourself off in your car if you want. The concession stand was very packed and they were behind on orders. My friend had to wait a really long time for her food, I’d recommend bringing your own snacks/food and then ordering ahead of time if you are getting stuff here. I also really really advise on getting here 30-40 minutes before your movie so you can get through the line and find your ideal parking spot. The lines get full and back up quick. My recent visit was for a friend birthday and they put a birthday message on the big sign and were supposed to play a message on the radio but I don’t think that ever happened. I really hope in the future the owner can put more money and time into streamlining the concession stand so people can have a better experience. Check this place out at least once you never know if you’ll be able to in the future!
Liliana M — Google review
One great thing I can say about this theater is NOSTALGIA! Feels like flashbacks from being there when I was a kid in the 80s. Issues - I find it odd that lotsss of people aren't coherent or maybe mentally aware? That they have on their headlights, or maybe they really just don't care?... That is a main issue almost every time I come here. Also sometimes you get the rowdy individuals that meet up there and stand outside of their cars drinking and smoking and laughing loud during the movie, that can be a pain and make you not want to come back. Security is walking around but he never does or says anything about either of those issues lol. The projection isn't the clearest but it's not terribly blurry but the focus and centering the film on the screen could be improved. Snack bar is clean and amazing! Very ole school and some stuff is still there from back in the day just not working lol but it's ok, I love the snack bar. I'll keep coming back to enjoy a movie 🍿 but if those few things were fixed this place would be A+. I'm just glad it's still here and not out of business or torn down like everything else. Thank you for still being here!
G M — Google review
Used to love this place because it’s one of the only drive ins around. But tonight, we wanted to get out of the house and relax, so we went to go see Weapons and literally the WHOLE time.. someone had their lights on.. could barely see anything at all. When we finally got sick of it and went to get a refund and leave, they refused to refund us. Spent $50 for shit quality and to leave early because no one would fix the problem and then couldn’t even get our money back.

Have been going here for years and I must say I’m pleased with the improvements. Screens show clear the food and wine bar is clean and there’s a large selection of food and snack items to choose from. Bathrooms are always clean and private. If you’re looking for a cool night out with the family to watch a good movie you won’t be disappointed.

Since the renovation, I have loved this place. Everything is pavement, no dirt. The concession stand is huge and really quite nice, good selection. A few crafters set up there and sell handmade goods. Has a bar and grill too inside. Bathrooms have many stalls, almost always clean. Radio frequency is crystal clear. I've only seen children's movies here with my daughter, and the crowd on our screen is all friendly families. Not sure what the crowd is like on screens showing adult movies. Highly recommend for a fun night with your kids. Plus, you can talk during the movie, unlike typical theaters.

This is a very fun and cute date night spot! There are 18 holes and some have a spinning wheel to make it more challenging. They also occasionally have deals like free mini golf on your birthday or cracker jacks if you show an A’s ticket. Props to Matthew Trammel for doing such great work on all of the murals throughout the course.

Today my daughters and I tried out the Underground Mini Golf and it was a lot of fun even though the holes are short and fairly small it was still a lot of fun going through the course. My only gripe is the price for 2 adults and 2 children $76 (Parent, 14yr old, 9yr and 5yr) and you can go through it in maybe 30-45 mins outside Scandia or Golfland SunSplash may be better..We all had a lot of fun it was Enjoyable!!

Whether you're celebrating the 4th of July or enjoying a leisurely day on the water, this cruise offers an unforgettable perspective of the city’s skyline and historic landmarks from both climate-controlled interiors and open-air decks. Imagine gliding along the picturesque Sacramento River while capturing memorable moments with your loved ones.
Took the Saint Patrick’s Day Sip and See cruise and had so much fun! The DJ played great music and there was a bar with drinks and even snacks available. There were not many of us on the cruise but we did take the earlier option (3pm). That made no difference for us. Will definitely ride again.

Nice relaxing experience and a great day for our grandson (5). He was invited by the super-nice captain to sit in the Captain's chair and steer the boat. He was so thrilled!. Other aspects: It's always nice to be on the water and there is a lot of little things to see - but let's face it: Sacramento is not San Francisco, Boston or New York, so don't expect spectacular sights. It was still fun to observe other watercraft and daring jet skiers passe by, marvel about the different colors of American and Sacramento river and enjoy the calm wooded banks. The crew was friendly and the bar was - not unexpectedly - quite expensive. The inside of the boat feels a little dated and there could be more outdoor space. Overall a good experience.

Went on cruise July 17th..see receipt. This is a one hour tour aboard the Hornblower. Easiest way is to take the elevator out front of Delta King and then walk straight to the boat ( no steps or stairs!). It's a no frills excursion but I love history so i found it interesting. There is a enclosed main deck with air conditioning or you can go upstairs for a more open atmosphere. They serve cocktails ( i got the bikini martini and my boyfriend got a margarita). Just know they will be a bit pricey. We got some chips and salsa but the chips were stale and broken so we left them. I would suggest bringing your own snacks since it's only an hour. We did enjoy sipping on the cocktails! It's a relaxing tour which gives you a better insight from the boat. This tour appeared to be good for much older people as well as children. Its only 32 bucks per person so it's a good value!

Went with my group of 5 for my cousin’s birthday. It was actually a nice experience. The employees were very friendly and informative. The DJ was okay, he plays a large variety but it’s cool. Drinks weren’t severely overpriced and there’s little snacks you can get like nachos and chips. overall, it’s a good time. I didn’t take a lot of pictures of the boat but.. it’s a boat lol. the views were nice tho

Had so much fun on this cruise definitely worth the money. An hour and a half of cruising the Sacramento River. The drinks were great food was okay. And there was lots of areas on the boat that you could go to be alone. The music was fun and everyone was dancing. I definitely will be doing this again!

I bought a Groupon and took my mom on this wonderful tour. We went at 2 pm on Halloween and it was perfect. The weather was wonderful...just a nice day. They boarded us 30 minutes before we left. We were the first in line so we raced to the top balcony for the best view. They have seating up there as well as seating inside the boat. They had music playing and a small bar area where you could purchase drinks and snacks. The cruise went down past Chevy then turned around and went up the river the other way. The view was beautiful...the cruise was a lot of fun. I would for sure recommend this for you to try. We had a wonderful time.

A nice intimate theater! I was pleasantly impressed at finding a convenient local theater that was in good condition. Seats were comfortable, sound & lighting were good - overall happy with the experience. Parking was interesting. A fairly small lot was filled by the time we got there (just after the doors opened), but I was able to find street parking about a block away near the post office. I need to keep an eye out for other performances here!

The Jury Experience is a worthy experience! The audience is the jury for a trial and gets to participate throughout the play, not just the ending vote on guilt or innocence. The topic is AI - a self-driving car kills a bike rider swerving to avoid a head-on collision. Morality and ethical questions arise and the character of the inventor is suspect. The cast of five did a good job. The Guild theater is a funky old building with a good balcony, but was filthy.

I absolutely love McKinley park! It's a huge park full of different areas for anyone! The park includes a tennis court, covered benches/tables, uncovered benches/tables, lots of grass area, a soccer area (no nets), giant pond home to the ducks and geese, big beautiful trees, a public pool, playground, and the library. The park has a trail around the perimeter for jogging, walking, or running, there's parking all around the park as well. The park is so beautiful as is and when the rose garden is in bloom it is incredible. The roses are so gorgeous and people always come to take grad photos, prom photos, quinceañera photos etc.. This park is perfect for spending time reading in the shade, gathering with friends, letting your kids run around or whatever! I used to go to this park 40+years ago as a child to swim and play at the park. Such an awesome trip down memory lane. The pool was amazing and it had a fun vibe and atmosphere. The playground has a different set up, geared more towards safety which is nice. The pond and surrounding area has nice places to sit and relax watch the geese in the sun and out the sun. Nice bathrooms as well.

By far one of my most favorite parks ever... The playground is Amazing , the modernized "merry go round" is fun for all ages... We used to play tag at this park when we were little and go swimming in the public pools... It's nice to see the Rose Garden so beautifully maintained and all the upgrades, including the public Volley Ball nets, picnic tables and bathrooms. Great place for Tennis lovers and hanging out with the squirrels and ducks will never get old. I highly recommend anyone with kids to visit and play together, as well as anyone who just wants to reconnect with nature in a park setting.

Visitors can enjoy picnicking, kite-flying, or cycling along the Jedediah Smith Bike Trail.
I’ve been going to Aftershock every year since 2017, and it’s always one of the highlights of my year. People travel from all over the world to Sacramento for this festival, and it’s easy to see why. The 2025 lineup was stacked — Blink-182, Deftones, KoЯn, and Bring Me the Horizon all put on amazing shows. The venue at Discovery Park is mostly dirt and dead grass, which isn’t ideal, but this year’s weather made up for it. Instead of the usual 90–100 degree heat, it stayed in the mid-70s, which was a huge relief. The crowd is always a mix — you meet some really awesome people, but there are also a few who get upset easily when things don’t go their way. Still, the overall vibe and energy of the festival makes it worth it every year. Aftershock 2025 was another great experience, and I’ll definitely be back next year.
Jesus 3 — Google review
I’ve been to Discovery Park only a couple of times for music events and it’s been a good experience. The park is very big, lots of grass areas, trees, tables, and a bike trail. When there are events being put on it seems the park is kept very clean and ready for people, not sure about the other days of the year. The last time I came here was for the Sol Blume festival in 2023. The event was held in August instead of the original date in April I believe due to the park flooding. So that’s something to keep in mind, the park does flood when we are experiencing heavy rainfall! I’ll have to spend more time at the park throughout the year to get a better sense of the area.
Liliana M — Google review
Discovery Park is a massive area with bike trails, picnic spots, and plenty of shade, which made it really family-friendly. We brought our little one and had no problem finding space to relax and enjoy the outdoors. The park is shared by lots of different people, including some unhoused neighbors, but everyone was just enjoying the space peacefully. Overall, it’s a welcoming spot to bike, picnic, or spend time outside with family.
Chris F — Google review
Discovery Park is one of the major park just outside of downtown Sacramento and often holds events and concerts. This coming October 2025, the biggest concert event of the year for the entire Sacramento County will be held at this park. There are a lot of picnic tables, restrooms albeit temporarily replaced with porta potties, barbecue grills, shades, and geese and blackberries!! It also has an archery range and boat ramps. There's lot of open spaces so it can be ideal for some holiday celebration like 4th of July independence. Some picnic tables are well shaded by trees. There's also the American River bike trail that passes through the park. On the downside, a freeway overpass/bridge cuts through the middle of the park so if you're in a nearby picnic table, the automobile noise can be quite audible and annoying. Lots of geese poops along the trail and the grass in the open area so be mindful of your steps. Homeless is another issue but these folks have been pushed away by the city many times specially in recent years and have been doing their best to stay out of sight. There are a few that keeps coming back and leaves quite an amount of trash along the bike trail across the river. A lot of homeless though keep to themselves and are non violent contrary to the stereotypes and are just going day to day to survive. Of course there's gonna be a few bad apples but only represents a very tiny fraction of the entire homeless community.

Aftershock at Discovery Park is phenomenal! Always a great time. Plenty of shade, picnic area to sit, layout is great, and Music on point!

Had an amazing time at Aftershock! 🤘🏼 The energy was unreal, the lineup was stacked, and the crowd vibes were nothing but good. What really stood out though was how clean and well-organized the venue was — seriously impressive for a festival this big. The staff and security were super friendly and helpful all weekend, which made everything run so smoothly. Food and drink lines moved fast, bathrooms were kept surprisingly clean, and the overall setup made it easy to get around. Already counting down to next year — Discovery Park & Aftershock definitely know how to do it right! 🔥🎶

Great park. I should go more often. Google is prompting me to review because I attended Aftershock. You have the confluence of the American and Sacramento Rivers here. Dangerous currents but good fishing. Beautiful place to hang out. Aftershock was great as well.

Visited for Aftershock 2025 Discovery Park is an excellent venue for such, with the only real flaw a lack of easy entry/exit to the venue when opening and closing. Great layout with plenty of space to roam, plenty of shade and excellent security staffing.

Broadway Sacramento is a renowned nonprofit performing arts theater that offers an exceptional experience for fans of musicals and Broadway shows. The theater-in-the-round setting at Broadway at Music Circus, which is the largest continually operating musical theater in Sacramento, provides an intimate and immersive atmosphere for the audience. Attendees can expect high-quality acting, talented lead singers, lively choreography, and unobstructed views from their seats.
My daughter is doing an internship at Broadway Sacramento at Music circus. My mom and I went out to see her in action. Fiddler on the roof was amazing! Such a nice round stage theater.

Saw West Side Story there last night. It was my first time there, and it was a great experience and show! Loved the circular seating, which gives everyone a great seat. The stage is small, which had me wondering how they would be able to do such an iconic dance musical. They used the stage, high platforms and the aisles used to reach the seats! With aisle seats the actors rushed past and when a scene was over in the dark props were changed. Not that there were a lot of props. The perfect amount. I heard from a couple whose granddaughter was in the play that this was only being shown in Sacramento. They came from Arizona to see her. She is going back to New York since this show is over. I'm very curious how this theater works now. Since I wondered at the start how a show could adapt to a round stage/theater. Definitely a good evening and looking forward to going again!

The West Side Story Musical Play was beautifully performed at the Davis Theater. It was my first time going. There were no bad seats. Our South Natomas Community Center Seniors enjoyed themselves immensely. KUDOS to the performers and establishment staff workers. Sorry, I didn't take photos. I recommend this Theater and the West Side Story Play. Tissues are required.

Broadway Sacramento always delivers an incredible theater experience! The productions are high-quality, with amazing performances, stunning sets, and great sound. The venue is clean and well-maintained, and the staff is friendly and helpful. Whether it’s a musical or a play, every show feels magical. A must-visit spot for live entertainment in Sacramento!

Attempted to purchase 3 tickets to see Moulin Rouge, what a joke. Broadway Sacramento clearly caters to customers that can afford to purchase group tickets(later to sell what they won't use at an enormous price)! I was on the site to purchase exactly when available to find out there were NO two or three seats available together on any day. I cannot afford to spend over $1000 plus on three tickets. So I guess the shows that you offer are for the wealthy. Thanks

Enjoyed a great production of "The Music Man" on a Wednesday evening and there were very few empty seats. The round stage affords everyone a good experience and now I know which seats to look for the next time for the best view. But the way they used all four ramps to the round stage that moves and a large company of very talented players was really good. Very clever set pieces and a hustling stage crew did a good job and I was immersed in the story the whole time. All of the players performances were exciting and stirring and the young people were especially amazing. We were 3 rows behind the orchestra pit so that was an added show within the show! Costumes were really well done and the sound system was excellent. Parking was a breeze right across the street and we enjoyed Nachos and 3 tacos at nearby Chandos just before the show. Very possible I will become a season ticket buyer if I can get the right seats!
Tim C — Google review
Such a fun venue for seeing musicals. Pre-show and intermission drinks and concessions are available, and are reasonably priced. We've seen "Cabaret" and "Nice Work If You Can Get It" here, and the acting, sets, and music were all top notch. I have no doubt we'll see more shows here next season. Ticket prices are reasonable, and there really isn't a bad seat in the house.
Michelle S — Google review
We got the season passes for the summer season and I can say with 100 percent confidence that it was completely worth it. Each show has been magical to say the least. The lighting design and stage set up is always astounding and serves to further the already amazing performance. These aren't picture perfect plays, but they are magnificent and honestly it's the little flaws that make the performance that more captivating and immersive. I regularly recommend going here.

Sacramento Theatre Co. is a vibrant hub for the performing arts, showcasing professional productions of beloved musicals and plays that captivate audiences. Nestled in the heart of Sacramento, this community theater not only offers high-quality performances but also serves as a cultural landmark within the city’s rich tapestry of entertainment venues. The Wells Fargo Pavilion, where Sacramento Theatre Co. operates, provides an intimate setting that enhances the theatrical experience.
What a wonderful community theater! The productions are very professionally done. This was my first time going after walking by it for so many years. I saw the Little Mermaid Jr. With so many young talented actors. I recommend going to their website to see what shows are currently playing and coming up. You can purchase tickets for a small transaction fee. The shows tend to sell out because the main theater is small. Parking is directly across the street in the city of Sacramento parking structure. Usually the price is $1.50 per hour. Late at night on weekends sometimes you can drive out for free as the gate is up. There are concessions in the waiting area. Some of the shorter shows will not have intermission so make sure to use the restroom and grab a drink or snack beforehand!

What an amazing show. We ordered tickets to watch the Christmas Carol and it was comical and delightful to see. Entrance is at the ticket booth where we picked up our tickets. They require vaccination proof which was reassuring to be around so many people in close quarters. It’s insanely freezing inside the theater so bundle up, bring a winter coat, gloves, beanie, and a blanket. Parking is on the street.
Crystal — Google review
Great place to watch local theater. In the main stage, rows A, C and K are a bit higher than the other rows. Row J is the first row J of the second section and it's ok, but foot traffic can be an issue. This place also has two bathrooms for women and one for men. You can bring food and drink into the theater, but they ask that you don't eat during the show. On street parking is plentiful, but the city aggressively tickets. Large parking lot just across from theater. TV in the lounge area displaying show in real time so you don't miss a scene.

I visited for the first time with my mother and took her to see All That Jazz. Excellent production. The area was kept up and gorgeous and a parking garage was directly across the street. It is handicap accessible and everyone was super friendly. I will be returning. Wonderful entertainment. 👍

Nice little local theater! Visited to watch one of our family friends in a production of The Rainbow Fish. Great little production for kids and really enjoyed the small intimate setting. Regarding location, there is a garage right across from the theater which usually has some parking specials for events. The production was in the smaller theater to the side, from what I can tell, they seem to have larger productions on the bigger stage. Outside the theater there was lots of seating and areas to take photos with your little ones after they have finished their production They did some drinks and snacks to purchase as well as some items you can buy that support the theater company. Not very much for the specific events but I can imagine this varies depending on what you are watching. There are food and drink options around so still a great spot to be located at.

Nestled in the charming historic district of Old Sacramento, The Underground Tasting Room offers a delightful escape for wine enthusiasts and casual sippers alike. This multi-winery tasting venue showcases the exceptional offerings from Twisted Twig Winery and Fenton Herriott Vineyards, both celebrated names in El Dorado County winemaking. Owners Chuck and Yvette create a warm atmosphere that invites guests to explore an impressive selection of wines while indulging in gourmet foods and custom gift baskets.
Awesome tasting room value if you buy a bottle. Wines are from now from Fenton Herriott, which I heard is a change. Out of the 5 I tried: the Meritage was the most complex, the Ruby Syrah was the smoothest dessert wine, and the Jane Way was the best "mid-afternoon" standalone fruity wine for a broad audience and what we ended up purchasing a bottle of.

Absolutely loved the knowledgeable staff! Every single drop was incredible, so wonderful we joined their club.

The weather was warm when we were in town so this was a nice break from the heat. Great selections of wine.

The prices of the wines offered here are quite pricey. However they offer splendid varietals and blends. It costs $12.50 for 7 wines to taste mix and match. $5 OFF if you buy a bottle. The server manager was quite knowledgeable and nice. I liked the Zinfandel and Cab Franc the best both 2015 vintage. They have food available if you reserve ahead.
JD R — Google review
First time here. My friend and I went before valentines day. Had cute decor set up for the occasion. The wines were okay. Only thing that had me give two stars was the locks to the men's and women's bathroom were broken so anyone could of walked in on anyone. Luckily my friend was with me. For this reason I most likely won't be coming back.
Laura G — Google review
I have an update about the tasting room… I joined or I thought I did. Come to find out the young man that took our membership, left the job… So me and a few other people were never members. So when I didn’t get an email nor a text nor nothing in the mail, I went up to the tasting room 2 weeks in a row, no one was there, and then I called, to be told someone would get back to me and they never did. I am now glad I did not become a member, because it looks like they have to find someone willing to stay and work that area. It is still a cool spot to sit with a friend or a book and have a glass of wine. I still went and had a glass of wine, and bought a bottle to go…

Fabulous experience! Owners Chuck and Yvette are very gracious hosts. This is an adorable little tasting room on a lower level of Old Sacramento. It has the brick and old oak look of the Gold Rush era, with the refinement of a Napa winery. Fascinating and tasty gift jams and cheeses adorn the surroundings. The tasting bar is cozy and comfortable, and the Twisted Twig wine is wonderful. My wife and I favored the Petite Syrah. My wife does not like wine but she loved this vintage! If your ever in the Old Sacramento area do yourself a favor and visit this place, and tell them Patrick sent you :-)

Had a wonderful tasting with Evette. Had 7 different wines and left with 4 bottles purchased. Both wineries had super unique styles and my favorite was Petite Syrah. Absolutely worth it!

This park is a disgrace right now absolutely.....another scooter on the way out. I see why everyone poops in the bushes here, when you look far away(the river view) its aaaallllllmost nope still not acceptable. Fix it..... cmon. Do it

For spots to walk at the river in Sacramento, I definitely give this one 3 out of 5 stars. The geese are always waddling around looking for food and often the elephant seals are posted on the boat docks yelling at each-other. And if you want to go little farther, walking across the Sacramento bridge is beautiful and old Sac is is right around the corner. It has plenty of little shops that seem to have been there since the 90’s, but some the history is interesting.

We were visiting and went for a walk after dinner. This is a great place to walk with many sign boards to read along the way. The water was very high so it was hard to tell where some of the walkways went as they disappeared into the water. A few homeless people camped out but they were not bothering anyone. Nice to see the walkway being used by families and runners.

Whether you're locked inside a scientist's lab in Containment Breach, exploring a paranormal Victorian manor in Whispering Halls, or navigating a witch's cabin in Skull Witch, there's something for everyone.
Easily the best escape room experience we’ve done! Cool non-corporate vibes, amazing puzzles, clear instructions, and everything worked perfectly. Loved the non-linear group experience of Skull Witch. We were told it was the hardest room (10% clear rate) and we made it out with just four seconds to go!

Amazing 10/10 experience. Intricate and extremely interactive puzzles with a shockingly immersive atmosphere. Went for my birthday and did Containment Breach with 5 people and had an absolute blast. We have done over 50+ escape rooms and Avalon is the best game master we have ever had! So sweet and funny and most importantly patient with our rambunctious group. We played The Collection and this is one of the most high tech escape rooms we have done, there were no physical locks in the room! It was definitely a challenge and without Avalon’s help we would have been screwed lol. Great experience, 10/10.

Fantastic place, fantastic game master (Avalon). We just did the toy shop room. A lot of times we were off track. It was unbearable. Had to train our minds when we were out of steam. We were training for this moment. Sometimes we were quite puzzled. We took many risks even though we felt like we were being toyed with. But at the end, we were tooooo good for it. (We had two minutes left.) But jokes aside, we highly recommended this place. Had a blast!

What a fun find! My husband and I were in town for some testing at the UC Davis Sacramento campus and were looking for something fun to do in the evening before driving back to Reno. A 21+ bar with an arcade (or is an arcade with a bar??) was perfect!! My cocktail was great and all the old games were fun. My husband is a ping pong buff and has a love for the old school arcade games. I’m not very good at those but did okay at QBert and a couple others. I don’t remember how long it had been since we played ski ball or air hockey but we had a lot of fun. Bring cash (smaller bills) because the machines take real quarters!

Coin-Op is such a fun bar downtown to go to on a night out. The bar is lined around with retro games including air hockey, skeeball, and all kinds of video games. Some days it's very laid back and you can sit inside or outside with a group of friends and other nights it gets very packed! The drinks are good and their food is too. The pizza and pretzel bites have yet to disappoint. The workers are super cool and friendly. Came here recently to celebrate a birthday with a small group and we got to enjoy the games and take a picture in their photo booth. Definitely recommend as a stop in a bar crawl or for a night out with your friends if you love a more upbeat atmosphere.

Service was terrible. Was told to leave for bumping into the DJ booth after trying to apologize I left then the gentleman was still aggressive followed me all the way out the business said we were banned tried to get physical with me while we were in the sidewalk completely away from the bar. I loved going there and referred a decent amount of people to Coin Op. But after last night even if the gentleman didn't say I was "banned" (for bumping into a DJ booth at a bar) I will not be going back there.

It was super easy to find, very nice inside, our seats were fantastic. Most of the ushers there were super helpful, had one that couldn't be bothered to help, even with the security guy even trying to help me and explain to her. Just wish there had been parking closer, but overall had a great experience with my son.

Great venue. Seen a comedy show and most resent a musical and we love the upper Balcony seats. Easy to access from many close by parking garages as well
Jorge A — Google review
Where to start? First, why can't people buy tickets without a Sacramento zip code? Most cities I know want tourism and out of area dollars, but Safe Credit Union Performing Arts Center doesn't because it was a multi step process to get tickets. Second, folks in Sacramento apparently think I want to pay $100 a seat to hear their opinion midplay. I don't. Why the entitled show goers can't be quiet for more than two minutes at a time, ushers can't do their job, or the house able to handle these issues makes me give it one star. I might have made an argument for Some Like It Hot's Opening Night, but hard to do when seat mates can't just sit and shut up.

The box office staff member Andrea, was so helpful to my husband and I last night. She issued or tickets and then after seeing where they were, asked her supervisor if she could change them, she did, and then re-issued our tickets. All with a very helpful attitude and a smile. Your HR Team know how to select the right folks! Great job everyone!

Sand Cove Park is a great place to spend a day outdoors. It has a nature area that is perfect for exploring and there's always enough sand for everyone. The public beach is located close to the parking lot, so it's easy to get there.
Nice little hidden treasure..not too many people know about this place so it is typically uncrowded. It has a shallow area where you can let small kids play and because it is shallow the water can get a little warmer. Best part is sand everywhere. The entire beach has sand. Fisherman love this place and I have never been here and not seen someone fishing.
Liquid S — Google review
Good family get togethers. Right on the sandy banks on the Sacramento River. Though the current seemed slow at the time of my visit, life vests are provided free. Small fee for parking in the large parking area.
Emi C — Google review
This appealing, albeit small, sandy area presents a significant safety concern due to its steep drop-off into the water and higher bank due to the current elevated water levels. Make sure your children wear life vests, as the risk of accidental falls is pretty high. Furthermore, the lack of restroom facilities and the unkempt grass detract from the overall experience. While the waterfront location is ideal for fishing, the swift current and steep incline necessitate extreme caution.
Enrique S — Google review
Parking is not good the gates are locked gotta park on street and you mite get ticket I did but fishing is great don't recommend swimming

Perfect spot for a laid-back day with the family. Cove Beach has become one of our favorite places to spend time. The atmosphere is super chill — soft sand, calm vibes, and a great place to just relax and soak up the day. We brought the whole family and had a blast.
Joe Z — Google review
Beautiful sand a lot of sand great for kids playing in the sand soft on the feet no debris on the sand no homeless no cost to park. I repeat no cost to park. You get great music from boats at dock there Jet Ski action and there’s enough safe water around the sand kids can play without the river currents, taking them

We always go this place beer can Beach it's great for kids nice Beach but last time I went and got a bladder infection pretty bad so adult probably should steer clear of the water... Idk.. but other than that nice when people no one bite the good place to just come and chill off Garden Highway. For cheap

Escape room center
Escape Sacramento offers a thrilling experience for couples or families looking to test their problem-solving skills. With various themed rooms of different difficulty levels, it's a fun way to exercise your brain and enjoy some quality time with loved ones. Visitors praise the well-designed rooms and the helpful staff, making it a must-visit attraction in Sacramento for those seeking an exciting challenge.
We came to share our love of escape rooms with our oldest son before his 6th birthday, and it couldn't have gone any better. Jen was an amazing host, and helped us understand the rules and how to get through our room very well. We escaped within the time limit and even got a special surprise! Our son wanted to come back the very next day, and we look forward to bringing him again. Highly recommended!
KC O — Google review
My friend and I had wanted to try an escape room and stumbled upon ‘Escape Sacramento’ while visiting the city. I called the facility to check if they had space, and they informed me that the availabilities online are accurate to date and scheduled appointments are advised When we arrived, we were greeted by the operator, Avian. She was very friendly and helpful in explaining how the escape room works. She gave us a layout of the area, describing what we were expected to do, the resources available, and what not to do. Avian communicated effectively and addressed our questions and concerns promptly. Since it was our first time, it was a bit odd to see the clues for what they are and ended up overthinking every step. But I guess that’s part of the fun. We chose the “The Seance” room, which was a level two on the difficulty scale. We were only two people, so we embarked on solving the clues together. The clues weren’t difficult to obtain, except for one that needs careful … visual… attention!! (I won’t spoil the fun) but overall they required some effort and mental gymnastics. Solving the room for two people posed a challenge, so I would definitely recommend having a full squad of four for the best outcome. Despite the challenge, we had a great time and had a blast. It was a great addition to my last-minute trip. I want to thank Avian for all her help. She was kind enough to take a picture of us at the end and email it to us afterward. I’m looking forward to completing the other three adventures at Escape Sacramento.

We did Fortune's favor with 5 people to celebrate a birthday and we all had a great time! Even though we didn't escape, we still had a lot of fun with all of the puzzles, some which were particularly clever! Avian, our operator, was super friendly and helped make our experience great. The only thing we wish was that we had more time to finish the room because we were having so much fun in there! Luckily they have a stamp card so we'll just have to go back and play some more! :)
Laura L — Google review
We died but had a great time! We played Fortune's Favor and per our great host Marcus, we got pretty far. He was helpful with clues and explaining how to work the uniqueness of that particular room. We're not new to escape rooms, but usually it's just me and my BFF who play so sometimes there's a challenge with just the two of us. We were visiting due to a business trip and found Escape Sacramento on Google and read nothing but glowing reviews. Next time if we're back in the area we will definitely book with them again!
Stephanie N — Google review
My lady and I went yesterday for our first visit ever to an escape room. We selected the Crypt and had a blast. We didn't know what to expect at first, but we are so happy we experienced it together. It was really challenging and definitely stumped us at times, which is really awesome because it feels more rewarding that way when you get further. The Operator Jake did a great job explaining everything thoroughly when we arrived and before we started. He was really friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend and will come back in the future
Joshua H — Google review
My and my friends had a wonderful time! The room we did was very challenging! Avian was great and had such a nice personality! I felt very comfortable and avian made sure to be available if we had any questions. This was my second time going to this location and I am excited to come again!
Elyssa B — Google review
We went yesterday and did the ice cream room and it was amazing!!! Charles was very cordial, and helped us when we had some difficulties and even gave us some background on the set up for this location. It was two adults and two children and although we had some difficulty in the beginning which took most of our time when we got to the end we didn't even know it was the end but it was a nice surprise at the end. We will definitely be back!
Jennifer M — Google review
I loved doing this with my friends, the room was really fun and the atmosphere was great. Avian hosted us and was a great host. They explained things very clearly and made the whole environment feel very comfortable. Really fun room, very challenging, great

Festival
The Farm-to-Fork Festival takes place in Sacramento, known as the nation's farm-to-fork capital due to its location in the agriculturally productive Central Valley. The festival showcases delicious food, wines, and brews sourced directly from local farms. Visitors can enjoy music concerts, mini markets selling fresh produce, cooking demonstrations, and culinary classes. One of the highlights is The Tower Bridge Dinner where top chefs offer a unique dining experience.
The Farm-to-Fork Festival, a free event held Friday and Saturday, September 20-21 at the Capital Park Mall, was an absolute party and the roughly 10,000 attendees were treated to a vast array of outstanding food, drink, demonstrations, and entertainment that they won't soon forget. The barbecued clams were a big hit, and the long line can attest to that. But for us, the highlight was the entertainment. And without a doubt, local reggae/rock band ARDEN PARK ROOTS stole the show! If you have yet to see APR live, we highly suggest that you look up their touring schedule and catch one of their shows as soon as possible. If you like music, you will love APR! They combine numerous musical genres and have a unique sound that is incredible! We guarantee that you cannot attend one of their shows while sitting down!
Bruce S — Google review
It appears to be getting bigger every year. However, they have a variety of booths for promotion and items to taste test ...the variety of music the bands played were enjoable to myself and the audiance. Not a bad price to pay to attend this two day event...."Free".......
Curtis A — Google review
Music was great. Food options were below sub par, especially for gluten free folks. Grounds layout a little awkward with street between two sides. Parking difficult & a packed downtown with a sold out Golden1 center event was a traffic nightmare. Where was the handicapped parking? Freebies handed out was really fun & so was the silent disco!
S L — Google review
We went to the Sacramento Pride Festival. It was well organized, nice crowd, a variety of entertainment, plenty of food... But to get a cold drink meant waiting in line than I care to. Will return next year and anticipate it to be even bigger and better. (you don't have to carry a label), everyone is welcome and accepted.
Scott ( — Google review
Lots of vendors, lots of people. With a live band, a silent disco and all the drinks you can handle it is hard to go wrong. The best part of the venue is location as they shut down capitol from the bridge to the capitol building. Tons of food and a good time.
Steele S — Google review
For a free public event, it is hosted in the right place! Wish there were more food stands and local restaurants but Safeway was giving out free apples and places giving our free totebags so I'm not mad. They even checked our covid vaccination cards so at least there's some semblance of protocol. The food truck lines were long and the good place ran out of ramen burritos way before the fest ended on Sat.
Helen H — Google review
Many many vendors. Great food and music. You have to purchase tickets for wine and beer. $10 gets u 1 glass of wine and $6 get u 1 glass of beer. Although the event is free u have to pay for everything else of course. Great informational booths about bee keeping to farm tours. Everything about sustainability. The event is doing friendly. There are picnic tables spread through the event. Food demonstrations, coffee demonstrations. Parking cost about $15.
Tracey ( — Google review
Pretty neat festival. Lots of vendors, food and even stuff the kids will like. Free admission so no real complaints. Can wonder through the whole thing in maybe an hour or less (that even is taking your time). After this, walk over to Old Town to finish your day!

Sculpture
Nestled along the serene River Walk Trail in West Sacramento, "Subtile" by Federico Díaz is a captivating art installation that beautifully blends with its natural surroundings. This sculpture, designed to echo the local flora and reflect the river's essence, features an intriguing arrangement of interconnected forms adorned with small movable metal disks. These disks dance gracefully in the breeze, catching sunlight and creating a mesmerizing shimmer—especially stunning during sunrise or sunset.
So pretty! It's along the path by the river and it's very quiet and peaceful. Not much foot traffic which I like when taking photos :) gorgeous view of the river and the city.
Cory B — Google review
I pass this at least once a day. At first I liked it, but now I have grown to love it. The shape, when viewed from the side, looks like another of the Valley Oak trees along the river. In the morning, the low sun hits it coming over the river and just make it shimmer and shine. At night there is a motion sensor spot that will hit it up. Best seen on a clear, sunny day, with a bit of a breeze.
Matthew H — Google review
Perfect time to visit is the golden hour before Sunset. It is not crowded in the evenings.
Prachi D — Google review
It’s pretty cool, but I recommend visiting when it’s a clear day or during sunset. Otherwise, the mirrors don’t really sparkle as much as the other photos and videos suggest.
Ben P — Google review
When the wind blows, the little pieces flutter, changing the shape and colour of the art. Not far from the bridge, we walked a nice path along the river to get there. Lots of wildflowers blooming in the vacant lot between the sculpture and the ballpark. Highly recommend!
Saunie H — Google review
West Sacramento for a long time has been the “other” side of the bridge. Well, the other side has become the fun and cool side of the Sacramento River, near Old Town Sacramento. It has the River Walk, Drake’s the Barn, Raley Field and multiple large art pieces to enjoy, like Subtile. It looks like multiple trees melded together with small movable metal disks. They move in the wind and reflect the light.
Christopher R — Google review
Totally cool at sunset!
Timm S — Google review
Wow! Very beautiful and mesmerizing piece! Really peaceful to stand next to and watch them sparkle in the breeze! Not too far to walk to from the bridge or even old sac.

Performing arts theater
The Eagle Theatre, located in Sacramento, California, is a historic landmark and the state's first permanent theater. Originally built in 1849 during the Gold Rush era to entertain miners and pioneers, it was reconstructed after being destroyed by a flood in 1850. The current theatre closely resembles the original structure and offers tours showcasing Sacramento's captivating history. Despite being owned by state parks, it functions as a fully operational theater with impressive acoustics for enjoying shows.
Hospitality for our Special Convention delegates happened here today!! It was so wonderfully amazing!!!
J R — Google review
Pretty historical place. Went Hebrew on February 4th which was a free museum day. They were playing a video of a theater play that was recorded in that same theater.
Vitaliy D — Google review
This is one of the coolest gems in the Historic Old Sacramento district. It's owned by state parks but is a functional theater, and you can definitely enjoy the show there, the acoustics are amazing! The only downside is that the AC is finicky so it can get a little warm.
Julie K — Google review
Sorry not sorry... I love Old Sac. But the Eagle Theater is not worth a special trip. It's an old dusty building. If you are on a guided tour, the stories and the history they talk about are a plus. The people that work there are passionate about what they do . I have only had positive experiences with them. Visit Old Sac and patronize the vendors. I'm always surprised that it's not more crowded when I visit. If they are having an event like a play or film please be aware they have authentic wooden benches for seating and the restroom is outside the building. Occasionally, the building is closed for an event.
Cynthia R — Google review
I actually got to "act" in a play on this stage during our tour with the Sacramento History Museum, and it was super fun. Apparently it's identical to the original. If you go in the Summer, it's very hot so you can kind of pretend that you're in a sauna.
Reverend A — Google review
A melodrama for children is presented here in the fall and spring. This is a faithful recreation of the original Eagle Theater before it was destroyed by flood.
Elizabeth Z — Google review
a great old building what it must have been like back in the day.

It would be nice if they let people watch the history films without an appointment, keep it open let people enjoy it for what it is.
