The Estes Park Aerial Tramway is a delightful way to experience the stunning beauty of Colorado's mountain landscape. Ascending to the summit of Prospect Mountain, this vintage European-style cable car offers breathtaking panoramic views from an impressive elevation of around 9,000 feet. In just under five minutes, visitors are whisked up over 1,000 feet above the ground, where they can take in sweeping vistas from the observation deck or explore various hiking trails that meander through this picturesque area.
The tram was hands down a highlight of our trip. Yes, pricey, but such a wonderful experience. We visited on a Friday at 9am and there was only one other group in line. We waited no longer than 15 minutes to go on the tram. Also, if you go early in the morning or late evening, you can take advantage of the discounted adult tickets. All of the staff members we encountered were very nice. One of the tram operators was especially kind to our kids after noticing they were a bit frightened. He made sure to make them feel safe, and we were very thankful for that. At the top, the view was incredible. There were a few trails, but we just decided to climb up the rocks and sit there to take in the view. The gift shop and cafe were right where the tram leaves you. There are not many options, but it's good for a quick snack.

I feel this is a Must Go! And if you're smart about it you can get cheap tickets to ride instead of paying full price. It's a short ride to the top where you'll find a small cafe and gift shop. I recommend having lunch then taking the hike to the summit! The 360 views are Spectacular, who knew Estes is actually so BIG. All the staff was Super Friendly too. Great way to spend an afternoon!
Karla T — Google review
The tram was a lot of fun and the operators were super friendly and very pleasant to chat with. At the top it's worth trying to hike up to the summit for some amazing views of the valley. The cafe was well maintained and had a decent menu. We weren't hungry but did pick up a coffee and hot cocoa. They also have alcoholic beverages but it was morning so had to pass. Prices are reasonable and online with what you'd expect. Tram was a lot of fun and gorgeous views!
B K — Google review
The ride was 5 minutes in a small compartment with no seats. View was nice going up. Cafe was closed, but the small souvenir shop was open (with bathrooms). The views were nice but I was expecting more snow-capped mountains. Nice, but not really worth the price.

Absolutely Incredible Experience! The Estes Park Aerial Tramway is hands down one of the best experiences you can have in the Rockies. The views are nothing short of breathtaking—you get a panoramic look at Estes Park, the valley, and the mountains that feels like stepping right into a postcard. What really made the trip unforgettable, though, was the staff. They were just as amazing as the view itself—friendly, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about making sure every guest had a great time. From start to finish, you feel well taken care of. If you’re in Estes Park, this is a must-do. Whether you’re here for the scenery, the adventure, or simply to soak in the beauty of Colorado, the tramway delivers on all fronts. I’d go back in a heartbeat!
Jason A — Google review
Such a fun experience here in Estes Park. We had such a great time heading up to the mountain and hanging out on top. What a fun way to see things from up so high. Note: We had timed tickets and had to wait until our designated time to enter.
Erin R — Google review
Hello Everyone, Now going up to the Tramway was amazing. I have been going to Estes Park for such a long time. I did not realize that this was in that location. Such beautiful site to see make sure you take a backpack, snacks, sunscreen, water, and enjoy the view. They have picnic tables and a gift shop and serve sandwich, snacks, and sweets. now you do have to pay for parking, which is $6.50 for four hours. But you can stay at this location and ride the last cart down. 3.25 time ride going up T 3h
Big B — Google review
This was our favorite activity in Estes Park. Highly recommend going in early morning. The crowds were coming in as we were finishing up. The hike at the top was the best of our trip with beautiful 360 views.

The Estes Park Memorial Observatory offers a unique opportunity to explore the wonders of the night sky. Founded by a retired astrophysicist, this non-profit community resource provides educational experiences for all ages. Visitors can schedule guided stargazing sessions through a powerful telescope or venture into the nearby national park or forest for an unobstructed view of the celestial display. The observatory hosts events year-round and welcomes school groups and scout troops for educational programs.
What a wonderful opportunity to experience an observatory with a small group and exceptionally knowledgeable individuals. Book early and please donate!!

Mike is an absolute gem and what he’s doing is remarkable and important. This was an amazing way to spend a few hours. We learned so much and even saw Saturn! The set-up has high-tech gear but humble surroundings. A must-see for a visit to Estes Park.
Jillian K — Google review
Visiting the observatory was hands down one of the best parts of our trip to Estes Park! Mike was an incredible host and taught us lots about what we were seeing! My wife is way more into space and stars than I am and she had the time of her life here! If we ever come back to Estes Park we will definitely plan to visit again.
Jesslyn B — Google review
One of the best things to do in Estes Park besides hiking. Mike was amazing and gave us over a two hour tour of both our galaxy and others along with his faithful companion Willey. Make sure to book ahead of time on their website and keep in contact via cellphone the day of because the weather is very unpredictable in the valley. Also make sure the dress warm since the dome will open during the observation but blankets are provided. Finally, bring cash for a donation at the end to make sure this amazing service continues.
Jeremy J — Google review
Mike is so friendly, knowledgeable, passionate, and caring. It’s such a fun experience, and so nice he offers blankets when it’s cold out. Be sure to buy some merch (you have to ask about it) to support them.
V S — Google review
I have been to several star gazing places and events but this one is definitely the most educative, engaging, and interesting one. It was Mike that made the whole experience very unique and special. We were very moved when we saw those stickers on the wall representing different stars/planets. Mike spent 2+ hours showing us different cool things using the telescope. We saw Jupiter, Saturn, exploding star, other galaxy, and even an ET! Mike is so passionate and knowledgeable to answer our questions. This experience is free, and donation will go to the scholarships. I hope you can see this message Mike. I hope when I retire, I can find something that i am passionate about just like what you are doing to teach us astronomy. I regret not taking a picture with you. Thanks for sending us a recap of what stars we saw in the following day :) Best wishes and hope to meet you again. Clear Skies, Victor & Katherine from Dallas

This is great place to see the local wildlife and get pictures of the mountains with the lake. The elk were bugling and it was really neat to see. It’s a great first stop in town to stretch your legs after a long drive

We had an amazing experience!!! If you are in the area and would like to see the Universe and learn more about it's secret, this is a must stop. It is free. However, all donations go back into the science education of the local children. Thank you Mike for sharing all you knowledge and experience with us, we had an out of this world time.

Fun City in Estes Park is the ultimate destination for families seeking thrilling and entertaining activities. This amusement park offers a wide range of attractions, including bumper boats, go-karts, miniature golf, and a bungee trampoline. With its vibrant and interactive environment, Fun City provides an unforgettable experience for kids of all ages.
I have been visiting this place for over 30 years. Four generations of my family have had fun on the slides, bumper boats, go carts, and other rides, as well as making great memories playing mini-golf, skiball and tons of arcade games. The prices are reasonable considering the fun you have. I recommend this for kids of all ages!
Ryan H — Google review
We had a fantastic time at this fun stop, which offered go-karts, bumper boats, walking on water, and a lot more! Mom and Dad participated as well, and the staff was wonderful. It's great to see that their top priority is safety. We truly had a blast, and I know my daughter will be excited to share how Mom beat Dad in the go-karts! It started to rain so we took a break and left to eat and came back. The line were not to long. We went midday during the week.
Melissa H — Google review
Only played the mini-golf and the go karts. The go karts are super fun with one and two seat models. Check out the photos of the mini-golf. Stunning location. Next to the river. A few minor holes damaged by vandals and a water pump sent out for repair should not cause you to not play here. The local owner runs this as his family. Gary and his staff are worth the stop!
Doug S — Google review
We passed by this place several times and the kids begged to go. We finally went and were pleasantly surprised on how much fun they had for $100. We had just paid the same amount for the mountain coaster and felt like the kids had way more fun doing the trampoline, rainbow slide, inflatable waterball, and bumper boats at fun city. They also had a nice mini golf adventure and golf karts that we didn’t get a chance to play but looked fun!

We visited Fun City in Estes Park on the afternoon of July 16 after spending our last day exploring Rocky Mountain National Park. I brought my two kids and they had a fantastic time! The staff was all incredibly friendly and welcoming. My kids especially enjoyed the Go-Karts, Mini Golf, Gellets (water beads), Water Walking Balls and the Bungee Trampoline. It was a perfect way to end our trip. Later that evening, while having dinner in Denver, I realized my Visa credit card was missing. I called Fun City and the staff who answered told me that someone had found my card in the park and turned it in. I asked if they could mail it to my home address in California and I would pay for the postage. To my surprise, Greg Davis from Fun City kindly mailed my card the very next day without charging me anything. Today, July 21, I received it safe and sound. Huge thanks to Greg Davis and the entire Fun City team! Not only did we have a great time, but your kindness and honesty made a lasting impression. Highly recommended for families visiting Estes Park!
Edison Q — Google review
My son really liked this place. It is alittle pricier. I feel like maybe for 100 is a lot espically when you have a big family and you cannot repeat attractions its not unlimited unless you keep adding money to the value card. But I think the new attraction roller coaster is Super fun! Miniature golf does need an update but the other attractions are pretty fun! The water ball scared my son lol water was able to get in I tryed to keep him calm. We loved the go karts. Slide needs to be smoothed out stops half way. Nice view for sure. The bumper boats are also a good one! I think we will be back again 👍 but prepared to bring extra money. The four star is I felt a certain section there was time cut I seen the timer and got cut like 25 seconds didnt say anything but next time if we noticed it I will.

Once again we had so much fun at our annual fundraiser for Crossroads Ministry. A HUGE SHOUT OUT to Fun City for sponsoring us and hosting us for this annual event. This fundraiser supports rent, utility and mortgage assistance. Thank you to all our sponsors that make this event possible! We couldn't do it without you!!

This place is great. We have gone here for the last 28 years and it has only gotten better. There are so many fun things for a family to do; race cars, large slide, putt putt golf, bungee trampolines, boats to spray each other. Fantastic. It is so safe, clean and very well maintained. The staff is cheerful and helpful every year. Thank you for all the wonderful memories. We will be back again next year!

It's a small and nice museum with free admission and friendly staff. FIY: A few minutes heading toward the mountains, you'll see around a hundred elk on the right side

I ended up stopping by here spontaneously after my visit to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park, and I'm glad I did! The museum is small and has a lot of interesting information about the founding of the town and how it grew into what it is today. The staff was very friendly-- I spent a good ten minutes talking to Wendy about my visit and where I was from. A fun little pit stop definitely worth checking out!!

Greeting volunteer Judy very welcoming. Great historical exhibits and exhibitions. A must-visit stop for tourists who care about important milestones in this beautiful town’s life. Staff provided personal historical perspectives from 2013 flood. Resilience encouraged us who are rebuilding from Hurricane Helene flooding in western NC. Thanks!

If you're on the lookout for an exhilarating outdoor experience, look no further than the Open Air Adventure Park in Estes Park, Colorado. This thrilling destination is set against a breathtaking backdrop of the Rockies and offers a variety of heart-pounding activities that cater to adventurers of all ages. With aerial obstacle courses suspended 10 and 21 feet above ground, ziplining adventures, and high ropes challenges, there's something here for everyone—whether you’re seeking a daring challenge or a fun family outing.
We can’t recommend Open Air Adventure Park enough! We hired it privately for our wedding guests to wrap up our wedding week in Estes Park, and it was the perfect end to an unforgettable week. The staff went above and beyond to make sure every detail was perfect, from accommodating our dietary needs with vegan s’mores (a huge hit!) to providing exceptional customer service throughout the entire experience. The park itself is incredible—fun, adventurous, and so unique! Our group had such an amazing time tackling the courses and soaking in the stunning surroundings. It was the ideal way to celebrate with friends and family in such a beautiful, relaxed setting. If you’re looking for an adventure with unmatched hospitality, Open Air Adventure Park is the place to go. Thank you for making our week even more special!

From the time of booking the staff was extremely helpful. We were in contact with the staff several times prior to the trip. They took the time to get to know our group and plan the best experience possible. Our guides Cindy and Heike, were easy to talk to and very knowledgeable. They truly enjoy their job and it shows! Great experience

My sister and I came here on a whim, after seeing that they offered axe throwing. It was really fun! The area felt safe and they had a spray bottle filled with water that was a life safer on such a hot day. We got some real, actual throwing axes and one hatchet and about 45 min (Which is a LONG time!) to throw as much as we wanted. Once the timer was up, we had to pack everything up and hand our stuff back. While we threw our axes, we got a good look at the climbing feature thats their main attraction. That looked REALLY fun and my sister and I will definitely be coming back to try it out! Besides all that, the staff was very friendly and informative. They seemed like a really cool, down to earth group of people and it made the whole atmosphere that much more relaxing and fun.
Kristen W — Google review
We had a blast! I made a group reservation in advance for the Aerial Adventure as a team-building event for a group of adults. We had so much fun! It's like a playground for adults. I haven't laughed that hard for a long time. Open Air uses a type of harness that allows you to remain clipped in at all times (as in, there's no way NOT to remain clipped in), which means that each person can navigate around the course on their own time, based on their own comfort level. Our group of 12 participants had two assigned staff members who actively and attentively engaged with us the entire time to provide safety and guidance. The staff members were terrific -- they were fully focused on our group the whole time, exuding positivity and offering encouragement while intently maintaining safety. Pro Tip: The members of our group came up with an obstacle course "time trial" for a certain route through the course, which included a saddle zip line (yes! a saddle zip line!) and a sprint across suspended logs. Everyone cheered each other on as we timed ourselves and tried to get faster and faster at running the course. SO FUN! (Not sure that this would be appropriate when the course is open to the general public, but it was delightful for our group.) We will be back with next year's group!

My granddaughter wanted to do this but was not quite tall enough to go alone so I stepped up. About 1/2 way through the instructors told me she was fine and if I wanted to stop I could (she had shown just how adept she was and how much fun she was having so they trusted her alone) funny thing is I was having a blast too! We did well over 90 minutes and it flew by, thanks for making me feel like a kid again and providing a super special memory for my granddaughter and I. We will be back next time we visit Estes Park.
Danya G — Google review
I purchased tickets online. Honestly, I was a bit disappointed when I saw it in-person from the highway. It looked very small. As quoted by my son today after our visit , “never judge a book by its’ cover”. My twin 10 year olds had a blast. They were challenged and yet had fun the whole two hours. The staff was beyond helpful with guiding my sons through the course. They were kind to my sons and provided them positive coaching during challenging times. Both sons have said that doing this was their favorite part of our vacation so far. The cost is a little high which may prevent some families being able to experience the activity. Overall, I am happy I included this in our vacation budget though. Definitely check out their specials for servicemen, nurses, etc. on their website. It didn’t apply for our visit but it was heartwarming to see that they are available. Opportunity for improvement is to have the grounds maintained a bit more. The grass and weeds are a bit difficult to navigate through while trying to take photos of the kids.

Wow!! What a breathtaking experience! We were so relaxed and really enjoyed our time on the water and the views! Cathrine was the perfect guide; very knowledgeable, kind, and respectful!! The sunset kayak tour is a MUST when visiting Colorado! We will be back! ❤️

This is a phenomenal activity to do with the family and with a group! We did it with both! I have to admit when we pulled into the parking lot, my first thought was it looked too small. But that thinking couldn’t be further from the truth!!! There was so much fun packed in to those couple hours!!!! Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful….seriously topnotch and they made the experience even more fun! 1000% recommend🤩

Nestled in the picturesque Black Canyon Creek area of Estes Park, Colorado, the MacGregor Ranch Museum offers a captivating journey into the region's ranching heritage. Visitors can explore historic buildings, artifacts, and exhibits that depict the life of the MacGregor family and early settlers. The museum operates as a fully working historic cattle ranch and features well-preserved late 19th-century structures like a smokehouse, blacksmith shop, and milking parlor.
Self-guided audio tour of original homestead and historic barns was very informative and provided a wonderful insight into the MacGregor’s beginnings. The location of the ranch is a perfect combination of valley and mountains, such an amazing view. Morgan is an amazing host and was very friendly and knowledgeable. The tour provided the perfect amount of detail and was just the right amount of time. We had an amazing time and cannot recommend this tour any higher.

MacGregor Ranch is a "MUST SEE" when in the Estes Park area. The history is wonderful, and the ranch is just beautiful! Morgan is a joy, and is a huge asset to the ranch! We had a great time! Thank you, Morgan!

Had an amazing morning tour with Denny and Morgan. Loads of interesting history about the area, ranch, and people who settled the area, but Denny was quick to pivot to the barns and animals when we mentioned that was where our 10-year old's interests were. Morgan and Denny made us feel like family and clearly love sharing the fascinating and beautiful property with visitors. Spent our two hours walking the property, feeding chickens, petting horses, and seeing the original structures and heading about their history. HIGHLY recommend for families with older kids. 🤩

We had a personal tour of the ranch (there was no one else booked on our time slot). It was AMAZING. The lady that did the tour was very informative and kept us engaged. By far the best thing we did in Estes - aside from the breath taking views. Learned so much from the history of the ranch to the history of the town. Kudos to the her and the man that maintain the ranch. I would highly recommend stopping by while in Estes!

Nestled in the heart of downtown Estes Park, the Historic Park Theatre has been a cherished landmark since 1913. This beautifully restored venue not only showcases first-run films but also serves as a vibrant hub for live performances through its HPT Live Series and the Upstream Concert Series, featuring an array of bluegrass and folk artists. As a women-owned independent theater, it offers a unique charm that makes it perfect for various events like weddings, fundraisers, and family reunions.
Saw The Shining tonight and had a great time! Picture and sound quality was fantastic and the seat was comfortable enough for me (I’m 6’4 and 300 lbs). It was very neat to see the USA’s oldest theatre and I see they also do ghost tours and hold fun events!

If you only come here to see a movie it is well worth your time and money Not only do you see a movie you get to sit in and experience history!

This old-fashioned movie theater was a hidden gem. We stumbled upon it by chance, and it truly made our day. Fortunately, they happened to be showing a film my kid wanted to see, especially lucky since they only screen one movie at a time. It was a true blast from the past, and I was glad to see it still in operation.

Such a seriously cool theatre. There’s SO MUCH history in that theatre! Staff friendly, and seemed happy to be at work. The theatre is like stepping back in time! We will absolutely make this a part of our annual trips to Estes Park!

An absolute gem of a movie theater! They've updated the screen, sound, and seats, but the theater hasn't lost an ounce of its historic charm. Love that they host revival showings, it's so worth the drive from Fort Collins to catch a classic movie on this classic screen. The popcorn is great too.

If you have the chance to take a tour here, do it! Jenna gave the most informative and interesting history tour I’ve ever been on. You can tell just how passionate her whole family is about keeping this historic theater alive. Definitely see a movie here as well! There’s nothing like it.

This was truly a walk back in time. The Park Theatre was built in 1913 (finished in 1914). The oldest movie theater west of the Mississippi River. There's so much history here. Interesting how the tower was built, and why... Because the man was left at the altar and he built this beautiful tower (65 ft tall ), representing his lost love calling it the Tower of Love. And saying it was "Beautiful on the outside and hollow on the inside" like the woman that left him at the altar.

The employees here are kind but we had such a terrible experience overall. We drove 5 hours round trip on Saturday to see a concert I had been looking forward to for weeks. Upon arrival, we were told that the show had been cancelled two days prior. They never emailed, called, or tried to reach us in any way to let us know the show had been cancelled. To their credit, they did offer us a full refund or to reschedule our tickets, and offered us a chance to see another show performing that night free of charge. However, what's most frustrating to me is that I don't have a lot of spare time or money to do things like this. I only had this Saturday off this week and it was completely wasted because they didn't communicate with us. If we had known the concert had been cancelled before making the drive, we would have had a really good chance to find another day/time to reschedule our trip. Unfortunately, we used up the gas money we'd set aside to make the trip, as well as the limited time we had off, and now there's no way we will be able to make it up again to see this performance. I literally cried on the drive home I was so disappointed. Do yourself a favor before visiting this establishment. Call the day before and see if the show you're going to see is still happening because they may not tell you. Again though, the employees were kind and the theater itself is clean and well kept up. That's mainly why I think they deserve two stars instead of one.

Adventure sports center
Located in Estes Park, Colorado, KMAC Guides (Kent Mountain Adventure Center) is a haven for adventure enthusiasts. Nestled in the Rocky Mountains, it offers a variety of outdoor activities and guided adventures suitable for all levels of thrill-seekers. From rock climbing and rappelling to exhilarating hiking excursions, visitors can challenge themselves while taking in the natural beauty of Estes Park.
KMAC Guides provided an unforgettable experience with their Via Ferrata course! The route was both challenging and rewarding, offering breathtaking views throughout. Our guide, Ryan, was exceptional—especially in helping my sister, who struggles with heights, feel safe and supported. Thanks to his encouragement, she was able to face her fear and make it all the way to the top. One of the things we appreciated most was that they didn’t add anyone to our group of four, which allowed us to move at our own pace and truly enjoy the experience together. We created lasting memories and had an incredible time. If you’re considering giving this a try, I strongly recommend going for it—it was absolutely worth it!

Going cliff camping with KMAC in Estes park Colorado has been one of the most surreal and adrenaline packed experiences of my life. It was so awesome and amazing, the view of the mountains during sunset and sunrise were beautiful. My guides name was Braxton he was really kind and he knew so much about climbing. He also took some really great photos, and made sure I had a great experience when cliff camping. Seeing the Colorado sky at night was really cool. I saw many stars and shooting stars it was really clear. Also the hike was not that far to go cliff camping. I really recommend going cliff camping here you will have an unforgettable experience.

My Dad and I went on the cloud ladder and I was nervous at first but it ended up being the best experience ever! We loved it! Great combo of thrill, adventure, and breathtaking views. Our guide, Adam, was great! We were able to really personalize our experience and feel safe. Would definitely recommend.

Had an absolutely amazing time on the Cloud Ladder Via Ferrata with KMAC! I can’t recommend it highly enough. Our guide, Lydia, was fantastic. She was so encouraging, knowledgeable, and made us feel safe and confident every step of the way. I highly recommend KMAC and this adventure for anyone looking for a unique and unforgettable adventure. It's a must-do!

A+ experience! I booked the Cliff Camping + Via Ferrera online for my husband's birthday for just the two of us. The company emailed me back to switch around how I planned things, recommending we switch it up for comfort based on other people's experiences which I really appreciated. The guide we were originally supposed to go with had a conflict, so Braxton stepped in - no issues or changes for us. Braxton was awesome! We met him on site, and he took us to stop for coffee and snacks along the way since we forgot to pack lunch. We also shared that we wanted to rock climb, and even though it wasn't in his itinerary he said no problem and made sure we got to do everything we wanted to do. When he realized we were pretty strong climbers, he adjusted some of the via ferreta route to let us climb more and make it more interesting/challenging for us. He carried all the gear and did all the setup from start to end, which of course made the whole thing much more relaxing and vacation-like for us. He checked with us on all the food he planned to bring beforehand to account for preferences/allergies. On our break he made us a cheeseboard with jam and gave us cold la croix. For dinner we enjoyed hot tacos, wine, and chocolate chip cookies on the cliff. Braxton was talkative, friendly, entertaining, and easy going. On the cliff at night we enjoyed hanging out and watching the stars come out, and he pulled out his constellation app and we played a 20-questions type game trying to guess which ones he could spot. He took a ton of photos and videos for us, and sent them all via a link after the trip. Braxton is knowledgable, efficient, and is passionate about his work. It was fun asking questions and hearing about other trips he's taken! He also gave us a lot of suggestions on other things/trips we could do based on what we enjoy. Overall our whole experience from booking to the guide and the trip itself was great. We both love hiking and climbing in our free time, and this was definitely a fun and unique experience!

My family and I did the Via Ferrata with Nick and TJ yesterday, and I cannot say enough great things about this trip! Both of the guides reached out to me ahead of time to make sure we were prepared, they were flexible with our schedules and were extremely knowledgeable and helpful during the climb. If you have any doubts about going with this group let this be your sign to do it!

Winery
Wine bar
Nestled on Moraine Avenue in Estes, Snowy Peaks Winery may be easy to miss if you're not looking for it. Upon entering, you'll find a wide selection of individual wine bottles and wine-related items. The winery offers wines from its own vineyard as well as from local Colorado vineyards. In addition to their diverse wine collection, Snowy Peaks also provides locally made cheeses, jams, jellies, and chocolates.
After a long day of shopping & then getting lunch, our next stop was this winery. I looked online for wineries in Estes Park, and the menu of wines was fantastic for our taste. Our taste is for reisling and dessert wines, which their selection met our taste big time. I love how they bring the tastings out. You'll have to see my pictures. They offer 5 tastings for 12.00 and it's well worth the money. They ladies were warm and welcoming when we first walked in & helped seat us too. You can select inside or outdoor seating. Once seated, you get their menu & pretty cool. You select your choices, then they bring back the menu and number them along with your glasses to correspond with the numbers on the menu. We selected a dessert wine, some purchased 2 half bottles. It was a nice stop to relax after driving, then shopping. Big Shout Out to the ladies as it's a fabulous winery. Please support your locally-owned businesses. We had a lovely time for a very nice day in Estes Park.

Great Locally produced Colorado wines. I had a flight of 5 focused on reds and hers were whites and roses. Presentation of flights was very appealing. And a homemade pretzel was great to reset the pallet. The staff is happy to share help to make an enjoyable selection.

A regular stop for us, best winery in Estes.... Only one actually. Nonetheless very good wine. The people are great and ready to serve. Good knowledge of their wines and the tastings are fun. They are not set up for food, but they do have a great selection of local meats, cheeses and crackers to pair with your wine. These are prepackaged and can take home or open here at the winery. They even have plates and utensils. Occasionally they do fun things like live music or the "girl scout cookie wine pairing" which was a blast! Quiet and relaxing place
Ovfdfireman — Google review
Great little winery in Estes Park. My wife and I went there about 5 weeks ago on a Sunday, and even though they were short staffed and busy, the customer service was excellent, and we never felt neglected or ignored. The food is your standard winery charcuterie and cheese boards, with the exception of their wild game sausage board which offered very unique options. Their wine, which most is made in their basement, comes from Colorado grapes and is surprisingly delicious. We really liked their wine menu where the employees offer descriptions of each wine, so you can compare and build your wine pallet at your pace. Fast forward, we brought another couple there on 11/2/25, and they were impressed as much as we were with the selections, food and customer service. We have a much larger group coming into town next month, where we will be staying at an Airbnb a mile away, and we feel confident this won’t disappoint for the 12 of us. Highly recommend this winery when in Estes Park!

Anything less than five stars is a lie. Ive been to wineries all over the country. This is one of my favorite. Great selections of wines, meats, cheeses, and food. Older gentleman who helped us was the best part of the experience. Cannot recommend this place enough for a nice quiet wine tasting/ night.

We have been on a road trip for 2 weeks. To New Mexico then up to Eskes Park Co from Michigan. This stop at the winery was definitely a worthwhile stop. There was something for everyone in our party. The owner and the wine maker were extremely friendly. The wine and mead was really good. We would definitely go out of our way to visit again.

Wonderful patio that is dog friendly with some great wine varieties and a fun tasting display! They just started serving food, and this game meat sausage platter was delicious!

We had our rehearsal dinner here and it was WONDERFUL! They had us outside under some tents, right in the heart of downtown Estes Park. The new food menu was incredible, we were able to sample some of everything (my favorite being the wild game board). Tera was so kind and helpful the entire time we were there, especially when it was supposed to be her day off! I would recommend this to anyone wanting to put on an event, or even just a casual dinner consisting of small plates. Also, the wine was good and reasonably priced

The Peak to Peak Scenic Byway, celebrating its centennial this year, is a 55-mile road from Estes Park to Central City. It offers a way to escape the crowds of Rocky Mountain National Park and explore wilderness areas, national forests, and state parks. Along the route, you'll encounter mountain hamlets, alpine lakes, trailheads, and ghost towns. The drive also skirts the edge of RMNP with opportunities to visit hiking trails and Colorado ghost towns.
The 3rd week of September or 1st week of October is when the aspens are doing their thing of changing from light green to yellow, orange and red!!! Pictures don’t come close to the grandeur and enormity of the drive from Black Hawk to Estes Park and then into the RMN park. Splendid, and awe inspiring!!!
Randy S — Google review
Easy and beautiful drive from Estes Park to Black Hawk. In mid-March there was snow on the peaks but the roads were clear. Lots of available areas to pull off and see the beautiful vistas. Quaint towns along the drive to grab a bite to eat or do some shopping. Many trailheads along the way to stop and hike. We started in Estes Park and finished at Black Hawk. We made stops at the St. Catherine of Siena Chapel and hiked the Summit Trail at Hidden Treasure Trailhead after the drive. It took about 2 hours for the drive. This is the perfect drive to take in the mountain views by car.

So the key to this visit is getting the right directions. I was disappointed with the route Google took me. Not many Fall colors until I reach Estes Park. More were found on the way down. Also more pullouts were available going down for photos than going up I didn't go back to Denver on the way home but visited Erie, Colorado. I would definitely recommend going 66 to 36, it's out of the way but if you are looking for Fall colors you will not be disappointed. There are several cute places to stop in Erie for Coffee: Cristos or Fox Dog Lunch: The Post or Ice cream: Sweet's, careful not to mix it up with the other lol location that chose a similar name. If you get the right directions, it is a beautiful day! I also recommend stopping at the Estes Park Sign and enjoying the wildlife there. Do your homework about feeding chipmunk and you can feed the lot of them if you are willing to be patient...

If you are visiting Colorado, peak to peak should be on your bucket list. The best time to visit this place is from May to the midst of October. The same road will take you to Rocky Mountains National Parks, which are worth visiting.

Jessy D — Google review
Dont miss this drive, there are plenty of attractions on the way, very less traffic, small towns in between, winding roads, very good view of the valley. If you are in hurry don’t take this road, its bit slow. We drove almost 35 miles and came back to Rocky Mountain. While coming back the view was spectacular, even the driver can enjoy. I couldn’t take many photos. Its worth a drive

Amusement park ride
If you're looking for an exhilarating adventure and stunning views, a visit to Mustang Mountain Coaster is a must! This alpine coaster offers a unique experience, combining the thrill of a roller coaster with the natural slopes and curves of Estes Park's landscape. The coaster allows riders to control their speed and brakes, ensuring a personalized ride. It's perfect for brave adventurers, including kids who will find it super fun and safe.
Had an amazing time at the Mustang Mountain Coaster! The views of the surrounding mountains were absolutely stunning, and the ride itself was way more fun than I expected. You control your own speed, which is great for families or first-timers, but it also means you can go fast if you're feeling adventurous. The staff were super friendly and made sure everyone felt safe and comfortable. Definitely a unique Colorado experience — fun, scenic, and something I’d recommend to anyone visiting the Estes Park area. We even rode it twice because one trip wasn’t enough!
Ashish K — Google review
This is a fun activity but the experience is limited by the crowds, lines and parking. First, the ride is fun. You as the rider control to some extent how fast or slow your pod goes. You can slow your speed with a brake or let gravity take over by releasing the brake. The ride is on a single tract (no passing!) and a lot like a roller coaster. Because at least one of the pods in front of you is likely going slower than you, you can't really go as fast as you want. The poor logistics and silly high cost are the reason for four stars. $25 for a single ride seems steep to me. There is not enough parking. So on arrival there is a good chance they will instruct you to follow a shuttle half a mile or so to a different destination to park. Then the shuttle takes you back to the ride site. That is a 15 minute or more ordeal. Once there, the lines aren't well marked. There is a line to get back on a shuttle. One to get tickets. A third to get on the ride. It wasn't obvious which was which to a first time visitor. Further, if you get a pass from a local resort the process is even more confusing. We spent at least 30 minutes in a line before getting on the ride. Then had to get in a line to get on a shuttle to take us back to our car. The biggest positive about the ride is the views. Do not assume you will be able to ride it like a roller coaster for the most part for the previously stated reasons. So go in expecting to go mostly slow and take in the view. The views are nice. Kids will likely want to do it multiple times. Most adults will be good with one ride. Shorter kids must ride with an adult, though. Each pod can fit one to two people. Consider this before purchasing tickets. They have a multi-ride pass for $40. I think it is worth doing but I would try to go at a time that isn't busy and see if the place you are staying has free or reduced cost passes.
Steve H — Google review
Run, don't walk, to Mustang Mountain. We bought the 3 ride pass for each adult and our kids rode with us. It was so fun! Staff is friendly, patient and welcoming. The coaster goes fast but it's easy to control if super speed isn't your vibe. My son wanted "all gas, no brake" so that's what we did as you can see in his "I made a mistake" face. We bought tickets in advance but it was easy to add-on. We went on a Friday and there was no wait.
Heather F — Google review
It was fun, but a little pricey for the short ride experience. The views from the coaster were great! The ride was fairly exciting. Kids will love it. I wouldn't say it is worth going out of your way to go there, but if you're in the area and looking for something different to do, give it a whirl.
Paul C — Google review
The views were spectacular. The ride was eh. 2.5 minutes of the ride were spent on the climb. The "fun" part was less than 1.5 minutes. Definitely not worth $25.
Loree — Google review
We arrived on Monday to Estes Park. We had to wait for our Hotel room so we had a few minutes to kill. I found this place that was 2miles away. I rushed my husband to drive before they closed at 4pm. Although it was only about 5 minutes ride, it was so much fun and enjoyed the view. Highly recommend.
Carol H — Google review
Had fun, but my oldest son got stuck behind a parent/child riding together. They wouldn't let him go again either, just said "sorry". He got completely stopped in the middle of the track and had to coast slowly down the entire track (boring). Pretty disappointing since we spent over $180 there. Thankfully we bought the 3 pack ride, so he got to experience it twice. Wish they had dealt with that better. Just be prepared to be stuck behind little kids or parents with kids and have it be more like sight-seeing than a thrill ride. I do not recommend it for anyone over the age of 8 for the reason they'd be extremely disappointed if they had to crawl down the track the entire time following a slow rider.
Briana T — Google review
My son is 5 and he & I absolutely loved it. He rode with me, I had the 3 ride pass. By the third one he wanted me to not use the brakes at all. Mom was too scared on some corners for that, but we went almost all out. The most fun thing we did in Estes Park!! We got advanced discounted tickets at a shop in town. Well worth it and definitely buy the 3 ride pass!!!

Families can zoom around on grand prix go-karts, engage in friendly competition with Krazy Bumper Kars, or enjoy splashing fun in bumper boats. For younger guests, Casey's Train provides a whimsical ride through a tunnel and an old mine town.
Such a fun place! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ride-a-kart is a blast—pure, nostalgic fun in the heart of estes park! we had the best time racing go-karts, playing mini golf, and just soaking up that good old-fashioned summer magic. it’s the kind of place that brings out your inner kid (and a little friendly competition). the staff is kind, the vibe is light, and it’s such a gem for locals and visitors alike. highly recommend for a fun night out or a spontaneous afternoon adventure.

I’ve been visiting Estes Park since I was young and Ride a Kart has always been one of my favorite memories growing up and I was lucky enough to bring my own kids here this summer. That absolutely loved ever minute of their visits to this fantastic amusement park. The new race karts are amazing and not the loud karts you would see anywhere else, which also makes them perfect for children with any sensory issues. The track has a Mario Kart type feel with coins and power ups you can ears as you drive. The bumper boats and bumper cars are easy to maneuver for even young kids and were a hit with mine. We played the mountain course of the putt-putt (you get to choose from two 18 hole options. We also had to take the classic train ride that has always been here. If you or anyone you know of coming to Estes, this is definitely worth visiting!

The Beaver Meadows Visitor Center, located in Rocky Mountain National Park, offers visitors a chance to explore the park's topography through an impressive relief map and an informative 20-minute film. Designed by students of Frank Lloyd Wright, the center also serves as the park's administration headquarters and features a gift shop, free Wi-Fi, and accessible restrooms. Visitors can seek guidance from park rangers for their exploration.
Let me tell something about the Rangers of this outfit... they're amazing. We had a class trip and chartered a bus, our driver miscalculated a turn on the way back home and we got stuck in a ditch. It was cold and a storm was about to hit us. Queue Ranger Kurt and his team of astounding Park Rangers who took all of us in multiple vehicles back to the Visitor Center to await a new bus. Freakin' Heroes. Please come to Beaver Meadows and let them know how much you appreciate them and all their hard work.

The visitor center staff were incredibly helpful in explaining the new timed entry policy for the park. Be sure to check the guidelines before your visit — it’s a recent change aimed at improving the experience for everyone, and I think it’s a great idea. We arrived around 10 AM and were given a 12 PM entry time for Bear Lake, which worked out well. The staff recommended a few scenic overlook points to explore while we waited, and they turned out to be highlights of our visit — Many Parks Curve, Rainbow Curve, Bear Lake and Sprague Lake are absolutely worth checking out! Make sure to drive slowly — there’s wildlife everywhere, and it’s so rewarding to take your time and watch them in their natural habitat. The views throughout the park are breathtaking. I was truly speechless. This is definitely one of the best national parks I’ve ever visited. Highly recommended!

Highly informative and helpful rangers in the visitor center. Shout out to ranger Nick for helping us with a detailed plan based on our requirements and expectations. He gave us an amazing itinerary to drive, hike, and also encounter wildlife. We followed most of it and everything worked out great. We had timed entry for 12pm to Trail Ridge road and 5am the following day for Bear Lake corridor. Worked out really well with the weather (June 8th and June 9th).

Always a nice place to visit. No you cannot get timed entry. They sell lots of shirts but i wish they sold pants as well. The film is usually worth your time as well and they have picnic areas as well

I wish they offered more in the way of informative/museum content, like history, useful information, interactive exhibits and displays, etc. Seems more like an underwhelming gift shop disguised as a true visitors center. The architecture is pretty cool though, and they have a neat topographical map. So there's that. I would skip it unless you need the restroom.
Alex M — Google review
Great visitor center for the Rocky Mountain National Park. They were informative on the park to the different routes to drive and of any road closers. The gift shop had a lot of different items to suit anyone, adult or child. The only complaint was that the space was to small for the amount of people that they have come through there so was pretty crowded when we were there

Rocky Mountain National Park is a must-visit destination in Colorado, offering a variety of activities for nature enthusiasts. The park boasts 415 square miles of picturesque landscapes, including pine tree forests, rivers, and the famous Bridal Veil Falls. Visitors can explore over 300 miles of hiking trails and encounter native wildlife such as elk, bald eagles, and bighorn sheep. Additionally, the park provides opportunities for ranger-led events and wilderness camping reservations.
My husband and I stopped in the Estes Park gallery today. The store is amazing with all of the beautiful pictures. The gal working was so friendly and an absolute delight to talk to. We already love and have been using Mr. Stensland’s guide books on photography and hiking. We are so excited about our new books (signed copies of Whispers in the Wilderness and Wild Light).

Erik’s work is gorgeous. I am a landscape photographer and find his work inspirational. The shop is cozy with friendly staff. Though his large pieces are expensive, but in line with other fine artists, he has smaller offerings at very affordable prices. I NEVER buy other photographers’ work, but I broke that rule and purchased one of Erik’s
Linda D — Google review
Lovely space, big fan of Erik, looking forward to owning a piece one day. Calendar for now.
Theresa W — Google review
Erik’s work is just out of this world! His passion for what he does only adds to the value. I purchased a 30 x 45 plaque this year after admiring his work for many years. My experience in the shop was wonderful. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the best part was that they told me I could send them a picture of my blank wall in the room I wanted my plaque, and they would do as many mock ups as I wanted of different prints and sizes. It helped me make the best decision, and I love the choice that I have made. They were also very helpful when I was choosing the proper lighting for the plaque (highly recommended)! I am looking forward to purchasing my next piece in the future!

Erik is the best! Great photographer, family and business. They help many in the community and have friendly knowledgeable staff. Beautiful photos!! Unique shots of both well loved places and backcountry gems. I recommend it to everyone who visits estes. Great gift options - books and other items as well. I still love the photos and book I’ve had for several years. Takes me back to some of my favorite places in Colorado!

My dad and I stopped by this gallery during our vacation to Rocky Mountain National Park. I'm so glad we did! The photography is absolutely incredible. There are very high quality large prints for sale, but also affordable smaller ones which were also much higher quality than I've seen elsewhere. We have a wonderful conversation with the host Nancy, and really enjoyed our time there. I was surprised to discover the coffee table books sold there, which are filled with inspirational observations from nature, and packed with incredible photography. This place is really something special. Would absolutely recommend stopping by!

The images are incredible, but way too expensive and the facility has NO AIR CONDITIONING! You expect people to pay THOUSANDS and TENS OF THOUSANDS of dollars, and no A/C during hot summer months??? It's time to step up to the 21st century - what are you doing with all your profit margin????

Stable
National Park Gateway Stables, also known as SK Horses, is a popular choice for horseback riding tours in the Rocky Mountain National Park area. The stables offer various tour options ranging from one to seven hours, catering to both beginners and experienced riders. The stunning natural beauty of the national park makes it a top destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Additionally, there are pony rides available for young children to enjoy.
We booked a 2 hour ride on 6/25/25. Nathan was our guide and was absolutely wonderful and wow what a beautiful ride. Going into the park with breathtaking views. Horses were well maintained and beautiful. We didn’t get to take a picture of us on the horses up high side by side but our guide said that is a request from riders for future. Highly recommend booking a tour with National Park Gateway Stables. (Enjoy the pictures)

I have gone on horseback riding excursions here about half a dozen times in the last 8 years. Myself and the Fam have a wonderful time each time we go. The horses are well trained and the guides are knowledgeable and friendly. The riding trails through RMNP are gorgeous! For the 2 hour ride I recommend going mid-morning for the best chance of clear weather. I highly recommend booking a ride here and hope that you have a great time too.
Martin — Google review
I opted for the 4-hour trail ride and it was lovely. We traversed several slight hills and water crossings. The scenery was amazing. We had a nice 45-minute break halfway through the trail ride and were able to get to know our fellow riders and trail guide. On the way back we encountered light rain, it didn't last long but afterward a gorgeous double rainbow appeared. It was so bright and colorful and felt like it was just in front of us. Our guide was very informative and pointed out several survival skills as to what things you could eat and the various animals we might see in the area. The horses were well cared for, healthy and very well behaved. I paid $180 for the 4-hour trail ride and will hardly say it was worth it. I highly recommend National Park gateway stables should you decide to see Rocky Mountain National Park from a different point of view.

We had THE BEST time. Not only were we riding beautiful horses, the guides were AWESOME! They told us about the history of where we were, and pointed out beautiful parts of the RMNP! I would recommend this to ANYONE and everyone!
Amber P — Google review
What a wonderful experience. Our guide, Brian, lead us on a two-hour tour through the most stunning landscape in Rocky Mountain National Park. Brian was kind and attentive throughout the ride. All five of us had been on horses at some point, but we definitely appreciated his gentle guidance when dealing with our horses. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone who would love to see parts of the park that you cannot get to by hiking or driving.

We enjoyed a beautiful ride through Rocky Mountain National Park with Laird as our guide. We did the 2 hour tour and it was perfect. Laird was very helpful and made sure our stirrups were in the right position and gave us interesting info along the way. The horses were beautiful and looked well cared for. We loved it and would highly recommend!
Natalie C — Google review
Absolutely stunning horseback ride. Meg was our guide and she gave us such cool facts about everything we were seeing. We did the 4 hour trail and it was a once in a life experience. We got to see the national park in a different way. Views were beautiful. Wildlife was cool. The trails are not just straight. You go up and down some rocky terrain, so if you can handle it, it’s worth it!

Best ride in my adult life. A real ride. Great stables. Professional great seasonal staff. Provided great information along the ride. 6 in our group. Offered many options for ride times. Horses appeared very healthy and well cared for. Did the two hour ride which was sufficient for me and my friend who hadn’t ridden in many years. Will go back again. Really beautiful and fun experience.

Jackson's Stables Inc, located near the entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park, offers a variety of horseback tours suitable for all levels of riders. From leisurely rides to more exhilarating journeys, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the Rockies and have the opportunity to spot wildlife such as black bears and bighorn sheep. The stables cater to families with pony rides for young children and horseback rides for kids aged five and up.
I had an amazing experience on a horseback ride through the National Park (moraine park) with the wranglers Lola and Abby. We were a small group of 3 people and learnt a lot about the park and the environment. The trail was lovely going through forests, open fields and over rivers with gorgeous views. The horses were very well behaved, mine was Diesel, he was adorable. Although not cheap at 120$ for a 2h ride, I would totally recommend Jackson Stables. They are very well organized, the horses seem well cared for and trained, and staff is friendly and efficient.

Gorgeous morning ride through the mountains. Staff was knowledgeable, helpful, and set the perfect pace to take in the views and trot along the trails. I would recommend the 2 hour Emerald Mountain ride. Thank you Jackson Stables for an amazing morning!

Kudos to Trent, Clara and Logan for giving us a safe and amazing riding experience! The stables were clean and well kept and the staff was very caring towards them, each other and the riders. My daughter and I had a fantastic ride on Monday. Josie and Kate were wonderful and it was a nice change to actually be able to do some trotting! Only thing is I wish they would have stopped at some point take pictures of the riders. It would have been a great memento.

Awesome experience! Anyone from beginner to advanced riders can participate, the staff and horses are wonderful. We did a 1 hour trail ride - it was a bit steep and rocky in some spots, careful if you're afraid of heights! It was a really easy slow pace though, plenty of stops.
Kat T — Google review
Really enjoyed riding the horse through the Rockies. This was my second time on a horse in my life and I had a bit of concern about falling off a cliff going in, but these horses know what theyre doing and it was great. The price is a little steep in my opinion, but based on the market, theyre great. Only complaint is my butt and legs kind of hurt after the hour ride. But idk if that's me not being experienced with horseriding or if it might be the saddle. Either way, I'll probably be back if im in Colorado again.

Fishing pond
Trout Haven Fishing Pond, operated by Trout Haven Resorts, is a year-round destination offering various activities. In the spring and summer, visitors can enjoy hassle-free fishing with a picturesque mountain backdrop. The pond is regularly stocked with Rainbow Trout, and no fishing license is required. Equipment including bait is provided on-site for a small fee. Additionally, guests can ice skate on the frozen pond during winter or enjoy sledding at nearby locations within Rocky Mountain National Park borders.
Well this place it’s the best if you have small kids or someone who need help for start fishing lessons! The manager was extremely kind and helpful and staff were so friendly with our family members. They are super clean, small park and play ground for kiddos you can tell they are busy because facilities are on top!
Ja D — Google review
The staff was friendly and the lot was absolutely beautiful. This place is a great photo opportunity and the kids had a blast. The pond is stocked and you can catch a fish on almost every cast. My only issue is this is a total tourist trap. You have to keep every fish you catch and they charge you over a dollar an inch of every fish caught. Rod rentals and bait are only $4. We were there for about 45 minutes, caught three small fish and it was $55. Overall it was a fun and positive experience. Recommended.
Sean K — Google review
Nice fishing spot for the kids. You’re pretty much guaranteed to catch a few fish. It can get expensive though if you catch a couple larger fish.
Michael C — Google review
Caught a beauty up there fun spot for the kids guaranteed catches I guess this one is a bit more rare it’s a palamino I mix between a rainbow and gold trout only went once and would probably do it again but I’m still more of a fan of actual fishing lol😁 why pay when you can do it for free lol
Justin F — Google review
Cool experience but awful timing. We came the day before they were restocking the fish. Unfortunately we didn't catch anything but still a cool experience.
Michael J — Google review
Yes, it is a bit pricy. But, if you have small children who have been trying to catch a fish all day and they have been skunked, come on down! My granddaughter was so excited to catch her four fish in four casts. We had decided that we wanted four fish for our dinner. She was so proud to have caught our dinner. The staff is friendly and helpful. The lady cleaning the fish explained to our granddaughter the process and even made that fun. Go there and enjoy a great experience with your little ones.
Lance S — Google review
Always a blast to go fishing here. I have to pay but that's quite alright. I know when I bring my kids they're going home happy because they caught something. Thank you to the crew as well. Some days you guys have to put up with rude, unruly customers and I saw it first hand. You gentleman handled it with grace. I on the other hand have had nothing but great experiences with the staff. They always do a great job cleaning the fish and offer us the fish that have been donated when there're some. YOU GUYS ROCK! THANKS AGAIN!
Melissa O — Google review
Wow, don’t make the mistake we did! There were 8 of us and we each got a pole and thought we would hunker down for a couple hours of fishing fun before checking in to our room- we had 14 fish in less than 30 minutes. Here’s the drill... you pay for every fish you catch (a dollar something per inch). You can not throw them back! If you want to take your fish with you, you pay a dollar a fish for them to clean and pack in ice for you. Parking is right up front with handicap parking available. The bathrooms are clean. There is a little play area available for the kids. In the winter you can ice fish!! Tip: if you don’t want to be done quickly take turns and take your time because you will have a bite within minutes of throwing in your pole.

Kruger Rock Trail is a moderate four-mile loop located in Hermit Park Open Space, just southeast of Estes Park. The trail offers stunning panoramic views of the Estes Park valley and the Continental Divide from the top of Kruger Rock. Along the way, hikers can enjoy a picturesque high-altitude meadow with diverse wildflowers, including Mountain Iris in late spring.
What an incredible hike!! Great views without overly exerting yourself on a multi-mile climb. This hike, which ends up being around a four mile loop leads participants on a beautiful trek, with incredible views, that nearly anyone can do! And you can even bring your pup!! Highly recommend!
Deborah S — Google review
This 4-mile trail is such a hidden gem! It’s tucked away off a dirt road at the top of a mountain in Hermit Park, and we honestly couldn’t believe how quiet and peaceful it was. We hiked it in late May and the trail was completely dry, no snow or mud to worry about, although afternoon showers are frequent in this area. It’s all uphill on the way up, so be ready for a steady climb. Hiking poles definitely came in handy, especially for pacing ourselves. The views along the way are already pretty incredible, but once you reach the top and look out over Estes Park? Absolutely breathtaking. We timed our hike to catch the sunset and started around 6:45 p.m., wrapping up just before 9. It was dark when we made it back to the car, so a headlamp or flashlight would've came in handy. Once we reached the top, the sunset made the whole valley glow, and we had the place almost entirely to ourselves. We only passed one other couple the entire time, which made it feel so peaceful. There is a short rock scramble right at the summit. Our 50lb goldendoodle made it up just fine, but coming down was a little trickier for him, and he got nervous on one section and we had to help him down. If you’re looking to escape the crowds of Estes Park or Rocky Mountain National Park but still want those jaw-dropping views, this hike is absolutely worth it. Total stunner. There’s a $10 parking fee at the start of the dirt road, but honestly, it’s money well spent for the experience. Highly recommend!
Marissa C — Google review
Beautiful trail, multiple astounding views of Estes Park and the Rocky Mountains, lots of wildlife and probably the best hiking area in Northern Colorado! Moderately difficult, especially at the end but as a 6’4, 300 pound man it was totally doable. Took me 3 hours in total and that’s while stopping to take photos and videos.
Ernesto C — Google review
Love this hike! It was a bit challenging for me as it is a constant slow ascent but the views are fabulous along the way - and rewarding when you reach the top!
Liz K — Google review
This is a beautiful trail just outside of Estes Park. Difficulty is moderate. It has wonderful views. Compared to other trails in the area, it was refreshingly less busy. The only negative is a $10 parking fee.
Steve H — Google review
Great Hike! Staff inside at the visitor center were super friendly and helpful. This hike has stunning views and is worth the steady incline. Easy to moderate hike depending on experience.
Auriele P — Google review
We really enjoyed this hike. The trail was well marked and the view at the top was amazing. It took us about 3 hours roundtrip with an 8 year old and a dog. There is a place to fill up water and a restroom near the trailhead. There were very few people on the trail on a Thursday afternoon. You do need to pay for a park pass at the entrance but the machine does accept credit cards.

Located in Estes Park, Colorado, the Historic Fall River Hydroplant is a significant historical site that was originally built to provide power to the luxurious Stanley Hotel and other important buildings. Today, it is owned by the town of Estes Park and still houses much of its original machinery. Visitors can explore exhibits showcasing the town's development and its increasing need for electricity.
Very informative hour-long presentation & tour. It's free! Quite fascinating to learn about what the town was like over 100 years ago, and the history of the Stanley brothers. A good chunk of the presentation is dedicated to the Flood of 1982, in which the Lawn Lake Dam failed, creating the Alluvial Fan inside Rocky Mountain NP, and sending just a tiny bit of water down the Roaring River, into the Fall River, breaching the Cascade Dam (which was constructed for the hydroplant), flooding the hydroplant and continuing into Estes Park (as luck would have it, Lake Estes was abnormally low that year, and was able to accommodate the flood waters that made it that far).
Ryan M — Google review
My grandparents lived there in the little house rigrlyht next to the to the plant. My grandpa George And grandma Kathren ran the plant from 1945 till 1982 when flood nearly wiped it away. Some of best times of my childhood happened there.
Scott H — Google review
This museum may be small but its how Estes Park became Estes Park of today. This hydroelectric plant was built in 1909 by F O Stanley to power his then new hotel. One of the first hotels in the country to have electricity. Some of the original equipment can be seen at the museum. This hydroelectric plant generated electricity until 1982 when the failure of Lawn Lake flood took it out of commission. The two docents here the day I visited were very educational and knew their history. I enjoyed! By the way it is free but donations are accepted.

It's a nice outdoor stage. The rocks behind the stage are really cool. I came here for a worship night and it was nice. The only problem for me was that there were no seats, but I suppose if you're there for music, you'll probably be standing anyways. It's very grassy and it's next to the river, which is nice.

My husband and I love this little spot in Estes Park. We come during the day to do yoga and watch the climbing school participants. It's always a treat watching people learn how to be lowered on a rope. Today we were doing our stretching and an older lady from a band that was setting up later, rudely kicked us out. I thought she could have been more polite since this is a public space and I am often in the audience. I have to say, the singing was terrible tonight. I would recommend the climbing schools as everyone seems happy, but I'm not sure about the quality of these performances, just saying.

WOW! What an amazing experience! I took my husband on a full day excursion for his birthday on 7/26/25. It was my first time in a UTV so I was a little nervous but it turned out to be so much fun! Here’s how it went 👍🏽 1. They gave us our own truck and trailer to haul to our chosen trail destination. We did Rollins Pass. 2. The weather was perfect and packed the right amount of snacks and wore the right clothing so we were fully protected. 3. The trail we went on was blue (medium difficulty). Technical but led us to a beautiful glacier lake and then up to another smaller lake. Green (easy difficulty) getting back down. 3. On our way down we had a mechanical issue (nothing caused by us) that we were really worried about but Bonnie and the team reassured us that everything was okay and graciously made it all right 👍🏽 Great staff! Great location! Great customer service! Great experience 🤩 We will definitely be coming back again!

Candy store
Historical landmark
If you're planning a trip to Estes Park, make sure to include a stop at The Taffy Shop, a cherished local gem that has been delighting visitors since 1935. As you enter this delightful candy haven, the sweet scent of freshly made taffy envelops you. Here, skilled candy makers expertly pull and twist molten sugar into an impressive variety of flavors—ranging from the classic saltwater taffy to exciting options like huckleberry and green apple.
I’ve been coming here since I was a kid—and so has my mom! This place has been handcrafting salt water taffy since 1935, and it’s a true local treasure. The taffy is delicious and made the old-fashioned way, without all the preservatives you find in mass-produced candy. That means it’s best enjoyed fresh—buy enough to last about a week or so. As soon as you walk in, you’re greeted with a warm smile and a free piece of taffy—pick your favorite! (Mine is the salted caramel.) The shop has a cozy, nostalgic charm, and you can even watch the taffy machines in action. Just be sure to make room—it’s a popular stop, and everyone wants a taste of tradition!

This is a great little store to shop for candy. They make it themselves. They have several flavours and offer a free tasting before you buy. Definitely worth while a visit if in town.
Dan M — Google review
Absolutely delicious! This place stands out not just for the incredible variety of flavors, but also because it's the only taffy shop in the area that actually makes its taffy fresh, right on site. Unlike other spots that have theirs shipped in, you can really taste the difference here. A must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth!
Christina M — Google review
The taffy here is next-level delicious! I don’t normally like taffy but then I went in and they gave me a free sample of salted Carmel! It was to die for! I had to go back the next day! So many amazing flavors classic vanilla, huckleberry, cinnamon, and even fun seasonal ones. Everything we tried was soft, chewy, and perfectly balanced not overly sugary like other places. The staff was super friendly and gave great recommendations. We left with a full bag and honestly wish we’d bought more! This place is a true gem in Estes.
Angela C — Google review
An awesome store, with amazing tasting taffy. Mark asssited us and was helpful and knew his products, we enjoyed the salted caramel and huckleberry among many others. The taste is exceptional, over the other candy stores. Highly recommend this store
Conley G — Google review
Had the best experience! Wanted to bring a little something from Colorado as an extra thank you for our guides on a trip to Kenya and Tanzania. I called in and the gentleman I spoke with helped me figure out the best mix for 16 gift bags, and shipped it direct to me that same day to arrive in time for our departure. The bags were perfect for travel, carefully packed, and the taffy survived three weeks of being jostled around in my backpack. The guides loved it and so did their kids! I might be in the business of shipping this to Kenya for them now because it was a total hit, and so nice to share something from home.
Sonnet P — Google review
I have been visiting The Taffy Shop for the last 40 years. This Taffy Shop is the original and the best taffy shop in Estes Park. Not only that but they make their taffy right there in the shop whereas Purple Mountain Taffy has their taffy shipped in. Purple Mountain added a taffy puller to their window just like The Taffy Shop but this is a deception. They DO NOT make their taffy on site. If you are buying taffy from a taffy store wouldn't you want the authentic version from the shop that first opened in 1935!?! Nevermind the Taffy Shop taffy is absolutely fresh and delicious.

We can't leave Estes without stopping here for some Taffy for the road!! Always fresh, soft, and delicious!! So many flavors!

Lake Estes Trail is a leisurely nature walk that offers a pleasant experience for visitors. The paved trail provides an opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of the area without the challenge of a strenuous hike. While it may not lead to an iconic summit, it still offers a fun and enjoyable way to appreciate the outdoors. Additionally, during colder winters, hikers can capture stunning shots of frozen grass and wildlife in the distance.
It is a true gem nestled at the edge of Rocky Mountain National Park, offering an unforgettable blend of scenic beauty and accessible adventure. Whether you're a casual walker or an avid hiker, the trails here deliver breathtaking views and serene moments in nature.

What a beautiful trail! It was gorgeous! It was our first time coming here and already in love with the scenery around this trail. I love walking around this trail while looking at the lake Estes. We saw lots of birdies, ducklings, and butterflies. It is well-maintained, clean and a good place for fishing as well. We saw several people fishing and picnic there. The walking trail is easy and paved along the way. And they provided chairs in some places around the corner for ppl to have a break, so no worries!
Nelly K — Google review
I’ve been to Estes Park a few times, but this trail really stands out. On a cloudy afternoon, the view from the lake is just unreal—the mountains look like they’re floating in the mist. It’s peaceful, quiet, and the kind of scenery that makes you stop and just take it all in. If you’re into nature and don’t mind a little chill in the air, this spot is perfect.
John M — Google review
Lovely trail right off the free public parking structure. Completely paved flat trail along the lake coast, you can do the south as well but doesn't look as good, so north coast is the preferred route. Picnic tables and restrooms along the way, what more can you ask for?

We were fortunate enough to be here when a large herd of Elk were passing through the town. Amazing to watch these large animals!

Ran and walked this trail and LOVED it. Paved with a handful restrooms along the 4 mile loop. Stunning views at every turn and super convenient to downtown Estes. I saw some outdoor workout equipment but didn't stop to use (seemed like it was in great shape).

If you’re actually looking some for something from the Estes Park area that is made by a real local artist, go no other place than this beautiful shop! Prices are reasonable, and the artwork is beautiful and original. Bought a beautiful print for our baby’s nursery and it will be a beautiful memory of our trip to CO before their birth.

This is a beautiful store where you’re greeted with a warm welcome. There is a huge variety of amazing art and merchandise with price points for everyone. I was thrilled to find two super cool, quality pieces of jewelry to take home from my visit to Colorado! One of the artists was right there to tell me about the earrings she had made that I was purchasing. Make sure you make this a destination in Estes Park, you won’t be disappointed!

Beautiful Store, the owner was so helpful and friendly. Purchased the most gorgeous hand painted (with glass and re-fired!) Wine glass that Remind me of the beautiful aspen trees of Colorado. Truly, my most prized & special souvenir from our trip, the owner took a lot of time to explain to me how the glass was made and about the artist. Very special!

Lovely shop in Estes Park with beautiful pieces by some very talented artists. I bought several pottery pieces, and the day before we left went back to buy one more by Scott and Leah (and was bummed that one I really wanted sold). I can’t wait to see what they have next time we’re in Estes!
Sydnee P — Google review
We were very pleasantly surprised by the variety and quality of art in this store. The offer flexible options for prints, prints on canvas, and even gave good advice for framing options. Everything can be shipped, too. Definitely recommend stopping in.

We have been going to all the many wonderful art galleries in Estes Park for years, and Aspen and Evergreen is one of our favorites. They have an amazing selection of paintings, photography, ceramics/pottery, glassware, jewelry, and more. They do a great job of focusing on Colorado artists and giving you a little background on them. They even have a selection of books by Colorado authors. They participate in the first Friday of the month “Art Groove” where you can meet some of the artists in person while you enjoy live music, wine, and snacks. When we were considering buying an original painting and jewelry there, those who have helped us each time were extremely helpful and knowledgeable - without hovering or being pushy. It has always been a delight to browse and shop at this gallery, and we absolutely love what we’ve bought there.

Very good tour. Our guide was Dave. Lasted about an hour. Learned some interesting facts about F.O. Stanley, Estes Park and RMNP history. House was saved as a museum and opened in 2021. I would recommend taking this tour first, then head over to the Stanley Hotel. Parking on site. A bit of walking for this tour, but nothing bad. There is a staircase to go up and down. Anazing views! Cost was reasonable at $15 a person. Tour must be booked online.

The school offers professional training and experienced guides to assist individuals in exploring the area. With a focus on safety and customer service, the Colorado Mountain School provides courses in ski mountaineering, rock climbing, avalanche education, general mountaineering, ice climbing, and guide training.
Joey Thompson is a legend. My buddy and I did some mixed climbing and then some skills training with him and he was really the best guide I’ve ever had the pleasure of climbing with. He is an exceptionally skilled and knowledgeable alpinist, but also a great teacher who pushed us, fun companion, and very reliable and safety-conscious leader. Can’t sing his praises enough. At the end of the day the guide makes the trip but the school’s equipment and facilities were also top-notch so 5 stars all around.

Took the into to Mountaineering course with Bob this past weekend. I have done a good amount of hiking in the Northeast and some in Europe but wanted to gain some additional skills. When I arrived we went over different types of gear and then headed out up the road to a place where we could practice some rock climbing, this was totally new to me. we went over basic skills and commands. Day two was Flatiron #1 and we did a 6 pitch. I have to say this was a adrenaline rush, but also a bit nerve racking being 500 plus feet out on a rock face. We hiked around back and down to the car for after a extremely satisfying day. Bob is a great instructor! takes the time to explain things thoroughly and has a great amount of patience with clients. Highly recommend to anyone looking to learn and experience new things

I recently participated in a rock climbing program for young adults living with Multiple Sclerosis. CMS were our guides, in partnership with First Descents. I NEVER thought I would be able to climb again, but I was wrong. Little Bit, Brownie, Spicy Pretzel, and Cruzer (we do nicknames in the program) were absolutely AMAZING in every way, from start to finish. Their patience and creativity made it possible for each of us to climb and find success on the rocks. We felt like we were in good hands at all times, and I for one greatly appreciated their years of experience and all-around positive attitudes throughout the week. You won't be disappointed with this team of experienced climbers. They will explain and share however much knowledge you wish to receive. They will support you and provide opportunities to challenge yourself. Thank you, CMS team, for all of your hard work during our week-long program. I am forever grateful and empowered by our time together. Until next time. -Tess "Janeway" O'Hara

When planning a trip to Estes Park, it's best to leave early in the day to avoid traffic. The ideal time to visit is from June to September when the weather is warm and perfect for exploring. However, even outside of these months, there are still activities available. For an adrenaline rush, consider white water rafting on the Cache la Poudre river.
The tour was amazing! The one we booked lasted for about 4 hours. We made a few stops for scenic views, wildlife sighting, and taking memorable photos. Coming to the high top of Rocky Mountains and experiencing the drop in temperature was fun. Our guide was amazing as he was giving us interesting information of the history and current details of the area. I definitely recommend everyone to book this tour!

I'm on vacation with my wife and decided to see a movie last night. There are two theaters in Estes Park. We were able to reserve our ticket online and go to show. Prices were reasonable and place was clean. The ads before the movie were all local ads and for someone out town gave some ideas to do things while we were here. The seating was comfortable. It reminded me of a two screen movie place I use to go to in Columbus Ohio at Graceland shopping center. I saw that this place two offer non first run movies such as Rocky Picture Show on Saturday night. Those gimmicks are something lost on the big chain movie theaters.

Meadow Mini Golf is a long-standing mini-golf spot located in Estes Park, offering a family-friendly atmosphere amid flower gardens and mountain views. This classic course has been entertaining visitors for over 60 years and provides a perfect opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors during the summer months. While it may not look as fancy as some other options, it offers a challenging course and friendly service from the owner.
We vacationed in Estes park in 1990. My mom hit a hole in one and got a free pass. She kept the pass all these years. We were going to Estes park with our grandkids and she said find that free pass. I laughed and looked for it. Couldn’t find it. But going through her papers after she passed there it was. I saw it and started laughing and crying.

Visited this course over 5 years ago and it was in better shape. It's definitely been rundown a bit. Still cheap and fun though. I was disappointed in the lack of Marmots however. All I saw was a bunch of ground squirrels and a bunny.

This is an awesome establishment that has gone through a rebrand but is still the best value for fun in Estes park. $6 rounds with super nice staff and they have put some TLC into the course and it is back in fairly nice shape. Don’t bother with Fun City, make a stop here!

Old school fun! Simple, but mildly challenging putt putt course. It is a must / favorite stop for us when we visit Estes Park. Great value for the amount of fun, only $3 per game. Highly recommend playing at least one game here. Mr. Mitchell the owner is a very very nice guy, who likes to talk to everyone.

Affordable mini golf course that was super fun. It's 18 holes and has a few unique holes like a water feature and windmill. The guy running it was very nice and helpful. We even got a free round for a hole in one on the last hole.

Awesome cute little mini golf course. Affordable and friendly!

I go here every year, amazing course perfect for some intense mini golf. Steve is always super nice when we buy our round. I can't recommend Tiny Town enough!

One traveler shared their experience of booking with Kep Expeditions after hearing glowing recommendations.
Kep Expeditions was a great find!! This tour was the highlight of a girls weekend to Colorado. We did a driving tour to some sights and then hiked from one spot with him while another guide moved the van to the next spot, so we never hiked in the same way we got out. We covered a lot of ground. We loved the picnic lunch and all of the stories and the funny dad jokes... you really had to pay attention or you would miss a few. I highly recommend Kep Expeditions. Brian was very attentive to any needs and personalized the tour. A super fun guy!! Thanks again!!!

Being our first trip to Colorado, we are SO grateful we toured with Kep Expeditions! Garry, took his time so we could explore the area, take pictures, see wildlife as he shared his rich knowledge of history, landscape and wildlife of the Rocky Mountains. Our family had a blast! We also learned about all the great tours you provide to accommodate and inspired others. Thank you for all you do. We wish you & your company nothing but the best!

We booked the 6 hr guided trip for 6/24/25. I spoke with Brian multiple times before the trip. Gary was our guide. Both are genuine and down to earth guys. This guided trip took us to many places that we would've missed if we had went out on our own. Gary taught us so much about RMNP. He knows tons of info, both geologically and historically. We experienced beautiful views, many elk, and a delicious provided picnic lunch on a beautiful lake. Both Gary and Brian are gems, and it's an honor to recommend this family guide service! Hope to see them again in the future!

Brian at KEP Expeditions was awesome. We had a great day at Rocky Mountain National Park. Due to a scheduling conflict we had to cancel our other guide and Brian stepped up and provided a spectacular day hiking. Half our group stayed around Bear Lake and the other half hiked to Dream Lake. Brian was sure to make our day great due to short notice. I would highly recommend KEP Expedition for any RMNP needs.
Chris C — Google review
We were so happy to find Kep Expeditions! Brian picked up at our campsite and drove us everywhere in RMNP. It was my husband's first time in the Rockies and he was able to get out and travel down paths thanks to Brian. Brian is a wonderful, knowledgeable guide!

Today we were privileged to have Kep Expeditions all to ourselves! Gary was a wealth of information and accommodation. We can thank Gary for the photographs that are included with this review. He took the time to give a background on the area, showed us the best spots for hiking, fishing, sightseeing and even took our photographs for perpetuity. Before we had even arrived, Brian provided micro spikes and poles for our use prior to the expedition. Kep was flexible to our availability and very pleased to have discovered them. Make Kep a part of your visit to Estes Park, CO.

The best tour I've taken in any national park, by a long shot! The van was comfortable and Brian was hilarious! He made our day really, really fun. He's great with kids! He even made lunch for us. Also, Brian grew up in Estes Park.. no other company can beat his knowledge of the park and the area. Just book with Kep. You won't regret it.

We had an awesome tour with Kep Expeditions in early August (I apologize for the lateness of the review!). The owner was very flexible when we requested a small scheduke change and the tour was very interesting with lots of local lore and fun facts. My daughter very much enjoyed spotting a moose mom and baby! It was so enjoyable to not have to drive on those crazy roads up to the top of the park as well! Thank you for one of the major highlights of our trip! 10/10 would recommend!

100 Nickel is a bowling alley chain that offers leagues, youth programs, and an arcade. During the day, it caters to families with its fun-filled atmosphere, while at night it transforms into a more adult-oriented venue with a bar. The company hosted a party at 100 Nickel and it was described as perfect. Planning the event with Shauna, the event coordinator, went smoothly as she provided helpful information and was always quick to respond.
This place is really exceptional if you are planning any kind of event. The staff is trained well and prepared, which takes pressure off of the host, me, so I could enjoy my client appreciation event and not worry about the details. They kept hot, delicious food coming, drinks full, trash picked up and were so attentive. The alleys are fun and modern, the arcade and laser tag were a blast and it's so affordable. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! We loved it so much we also had my son's b-day here too!
Connie K — Google review
We have the kids' bowl free passes, and we love it. The staff is amazing. We love the fries and mac and cheese bites, and we brought grandma and grandpa to join this last round. We tried Lazer Tag for the first time at this facility, and it was their grandparents' first time ever playing. It was one of the most fun rounds of Lazer tag we've had, and we love Lazer tag. We truly can't get enough of this place, and I think their staffing is the majority of the reason!
Alyssa V — Google review
This place was FANTASTIC! My boys and their friends played one of the best laser tag venues in Colorado, and we have been to plenty! Hands down this place has the best laser tag atmosphere! It was affordable for what we did (2 hours of laser tag, two pizzas, 4 pitchers of soda and 20 arcade cards. We had great service and the folks that work there were friendly and helpful. The kids loved it and I didn’t have to clean up a house at the end! Definitely recommend 💯

My 6 year old Grandson and I went for the 1st time yesterday to play Laser Tag. Alyssa, answered all our questions and showed us how to play Laser Tag. We had a wonderful time! She was very friendly and went above and beyond to help make our visit magnificent!! My grandson asked on our way home if the nice and helpful girl will be there next time we visit. Thank you Alyssa for all you did to make our 1st game of Laser Tag ever so spectacular!!! We will be back very soon!
Melissa L — Google review
My daughter turned 10yrs old and had an absolute blast playing Lazer Tag and arcade games! We went early and had the whole Lazer Tag area to ourselves! Staff member Kelsie was very patient, sweet, and generous with her time and help! She is the one who really made my daughter's birthday unforgettable this year! Thank you Kelsie!!

Totally fun and family friendly. The pins are aware that you haven't bowled in years and compensate!
Michael D — Google review
Not meant for serious bowlers unless you bring your own balls. This place is definitely great for kids or adults that aren't serious bowlers. However, definitely do not go on days when there is live music. We accidentally went during a school of Rock performance and there was nowhere to sit or put your stuff. There were people sitting in our lane that were there to watch the show and not bowl. we paid $80 for 2 hours and had people in our lane..... It was very frustrating. Also the balls there are not good quality, again perfectly fine for kids or adults that aren't serious bowlers but otherwise they are terrible. We are learning two handed bowling and trying to do curves and you can't get these balls to curve at all. We selected this place randomly so we would be closer to a friend but definitely don't go here if you're a serious bowler and were hoping to practice, unless you bring your own balls and don't go during live music. The place is rather pricey for what you get too... Other places with better balls and more room are cheaper.
Katie R — Google review
Great place for some fun mid-day bowling. Better prices and hours than some nearby places.
