Nestled on a hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the Getty Villa is an architectural marvel inspired by a 1st-century Italian villa. This museum in Malibu, designed by Richard Meier, boasts classical architecture and serene gardens. It houses an impressive collection of Greek and Roman antiquities, including marble statues, mosaic floors, and Etruscan artwork. Visitors can explore replicas of ancient Roman architecture and admire artifacts such as frescoes from Pompeii and a bronze statue of an athlete.
This is a magnificent space and worth the trip. The gardens are beautiful and the exhibits are spectacular. It is said that there his is the most richly endowed museum in earth and it shows. It is immaculate and extraordinarily well maintained. It would be easy to spend hours upon hours exploring the artwork, artifacts, and the grounds. This is a can’t-miss experience.
Pamela B — Google review
This is my first time visiting this beautiful museum. I'm happy they protected the museum from the recent wild fire. The artifacts were in exceptional condition. I think next time I attend a group or semi private tour. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. This is a place to relax outside and walk into the museum at your own leisure. It is so serene with the view of the Pacific Ocean in the background.
Steve U — Google review
This place is unreal. The setting along PCH just east of Malibu close to the ocean is amazing. Went late September on a Thursday. Got there at 10 AM as they were opening and stayed a little over 1.5 hours. Parking was easy and $25. Admission is free so the overpriced parking didnt feel that bad. The museum is excellent and has lots of good Greek and Roman paintings, sculptures, and other artifacts. Had an Egyptian exhibit while I was there that was nice as well. But where this place shines IMO is in the building and the gardens. Impressive replica of an ancient Roman palace. So many details done right from the courtyards to the gardens to the galleries to the fountains. All amongst the back drop of the Pacific Ocean. Absolutely incredible. I didn't want to leave! Went to the Getty as well and thought this was even better, which speaks highly of this place. Was less crowded when I went compared to the Getty Center (went to both on same day).
Jimmer W — Google review
I first visited the Getty Villa back when it was called the J. Paul Getty Museum, during my freshman year of college. What struck me most was how it felt—like stepping into a wealthy person’s private home rather than a typical museum. The antiquities were displayed in this gorgeous villa setting with gardens and marble halls, all located on the Malibu cliffs. It had this eccentric quality that reflected J. Paul Getty’s personal vision and made ancient artifacts feel completely at home. Coming back decades later, I’m impressed by how they’ve improved the place while keeping that special atmosphere intact. The renovation back in the early 2000’s brought all the modern museum conveniences—better signage, clearer organization, smarter educational materials—without losing the villa’s charm. They’ve also made it more resilient against Malibu’s wildfire threats after the Palisades fire in early 2025. The best part is that it still has that quality where you feel like you’re actually in a different time, just with better amenities and a more thoughtful presentation. If you haven't been there since 2005, I would recommend you going back to see the differences and enjoy the fresh Malibu air. Bring others in your family to enjoy too.
Nasser S — Google review
The Getty Villa: An Ancient Roman Escape in Malibu The Getty Villa is arguably one of the most uniquely themed museums in the world. It is the perfect destination for anyone interested in Greek, Roman, and Etruscan antiquities, but the main draw for many visitors is the stunning environment itself. Modeled after the ancient Roman Villa dei Papiri in Herculaneum, the property transports you straight to the sun-drenched shores of the Mediterranean. The Architectural Experience (5/5 Stars) The architecture is the undisputed star of the show. The sprawling villa features magnificent courtyards, stunning mosaics, frescoes, and reflective pools that perfectly capture the essence of a first-century Roman estate. Walking through the Outer Peristyle with its 300-foot-long pool, surrounded by meticulously maintained gardens and bronze statues, is an experience in pure escapism. It’s hard to remember you are just off the Pacific Coast Highway in Los Angeles. While some critics view the detailed recreation as leaning toward "theme park," the sheer beauty and atmospheric quality of the design are compelling. The architecture is a powerful educational tool that provides context for the art housed within. The Collection and Exhibits (4/5 Stars) The collection is specialized, focusing exclusively on ancient Greek, Roman, and Etruscan art dating from 6,500 BC to AD 400. While the collection may not be as expansive as the world’s largest art institutions, its intimate focus allows for a deeper appreciation of the works. Highlights include beautiful black and red-figure vases, intricate jewelry, everyday household wares, and, most famously, a highly debated statue known as the Getty Kouros. The way the galleries are designed—often using natural light—allows the antiquities to be viewed beautifully, providing an immediate connection to the past. Gardens and Amenities The four distinct gardens—each styled after a different ancient Roman prototype—are delightful, offering tranquility and gorgeous photo opportunities. The Herb Garden is particularly fragrant and well-labeled. The museum is very visitor-friendly. General admission is always free (though a timed reservation is required), and the café offers reasonably priced and fresh food with a spectacular view of the amphitheater. The staff is knowledgeable and available for guided tours, which are highly recommended for understanding the context of the architecture and the art. Final Verdict The Getty Villa is more than a museum; it’s a beautifully realized piece of immersive architecture. It is an essential visit for anyone in the Los Angeles area, particularly those who appreciate ancient history, stunning views, and architectural grandeur. Plan to spend as much time outdoors enjoying the gardens and courtyards as you do inside the galleries. Tip: Book your free tickets well in advance, especially during peak season, and don't forget that parking requires a fee.
Shahrukh — Google review
Visiting the Getty Villa is like stepping into another era—the museum perfectly captures the elegance and grandeur of ancient Rome and Greece. Every gallery is a treasure trove of meticulously preserved artifacts, from intricate sculptures to everyday objects that bring the ancient world to life. The attention to detail in both the collections and the villa itself makes the experience immersive and unforgettable. Walking through the gardens, surrounded by classical architecture and stunning ocean views, adds another layer of awe. Whether you’re a history enthusiast, an art lover, or simply curious, the Getty Villa offers a journey through antiquity that feels both intimate and monumental. Truly one of the finest museums for experiencing the beauty and sophistication of ancient civilizations.
Theo A — Google review
The Getty Villa in Santa Monica is one of the better day-adventures we have done in the greater Los Angeles area. The cafe has good Mediterranean food at a decent price (yes, they have beer and wine, too), and the photo opportunities here were endless! If you dig ancient history, architecture, and relaxing environments, this is should be on your bucket list.

What a beautiful museum? This replica Villa is full of ancient history and beauty almost unimaginable. Thank you J.Paul Getty for sharing your treasures with those of us who could never dream to see them. I saw items from over 2-4 thousand years old!

Malibu Pier, an iconic structure dating back to 1905, is located next to the beach and offers a variety of attractions. The area has historical significance, with evidence of Chumash settlement dating back 7000 years. The pier's proximity to Los Angeles studios has made it a popular filming location for movies, TV shows, and music videos. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely walk along the pier while taking in views of the cliffs and luxurious homes.
Super rad place. Parking is tough depending on the season and time if day. The parking lots close after sunset i think, so assure your vehicle is moved should you park there. Surf is usually pretty clean. Lots of large rocks, so use caution. On higher tides you are able to skimboard there, which is super dope. Usually pretty packed with beach goers and surfers. But still a great and welcoming vibe. Don't forget to take all your trash off the beach when you're done!
Adam N — Google review
Beautiful iconic malibu pier. It was very beautiful quiet, peaceful. We enjoyed amazing sunset. I wouldn't recommend anyone on wheelchair, walker or anyone on high heel because pier floor is not even. We witnessed one lady fell and broke her frant tooth. So very carefully.
Sophia R — Google review
Iconic spot in Malibu. We walked the pier and then along the shoreline. We watched all the surfers try to catch some waves. I is a beautiful way to spend an evening. We did see some of the carnage from the wildfires driving to the pier but its been cleaned up well for the most part.
END A — Google review
Good to walk on out to see the beach activity, the wooden walk is kind of bumpy. When I walked there the 2 restaurants at the end of the pier were closed. There were a lot of fishing along the pier but no activity. I did not know they caught any. But it is nice sunny and breezy and nice views.
Somkietr R — Google review
It's only been a little over six months since the wildfires in January 2025, but the sight of burned houses in Malibu was heartbreaking, in stark contrast to the beautiful ocean. I hope that one day, homes will be built where everyone can live in peace, just like the beautiful ocean. Many surfers and families were enjoying the summer at the beautiful Malibu Beach. With uniformly high waves, it must be a recommended spot for surfers. There was also a delicious restaurant at the pier, so we enjoyed the beautiful ocean and a meal
T M — Google review
I went there on Sunday 7/27/25 afternoon. Pier was not full and restaurants were open but not the one at the very end. There was a sign saying there will be a live music session next weekend. There was a significant line of people waiting to be seated on the patio at the Malibu Farm Restaurant. I haven’t tried the food there but seeing people waiting makes me want to eat there for sure. You can fish from the pier and the views are amazing. No cover to walk on the pier.
Ricardo R — Google review
A lot of vendors. Classic car show. There was a loud mouth preaching the Bible on a loud speaker. Probably could have done without that. Beautiful day. Everyone was playing nice.
Randol L — Google review
Always beautiful. Malibu Farm Cafe has great coffee plus if you buy something you can use the bathroom and not have to use the disgusting public bathroom in the lot. It is also $15 to park in the lot though.

Zuma Beach is a popular surfing spot located along the Pacific Coast Highway, boasting 1.8 miles of sandy shoreline and equipped with lifeguard towers for safety. The Koenig Beach House, an impressive architectural gem by renowned architect Pierre Koenig, offers stunning ocean and coastline views down Broad Beach to Zuma Beach and Point Dume.
I love zuma beach, great beach. With the most amazing sunsets
Mayra M — Google review
Free parking can be hard to find. The only option for free parking is on the street, and you’ll likely need to arrive outside of peak hours to secure a spot. The beach itself is clean, less crowded, and generally peaceful—especially compared to Santa Monica. Public restrooms are available, but there are no public washing areas. Be prepared to share the beach with plenty of seagulls, which are a common sight here.
Sabhrant — Google review
Beautiful 1.8mi sandy beach with tons of street parking and a huge lot. There are showers in some spots. Great views of the coast and mountains.
Steph C — Google review
We spent Father’s Day at Zuma Beach with friends, and it couldn’t have been better. Clean sand, beautiful views, and plenty of space to spread out even on a busy day. The water was perfect for wading and boogie boarding, and the lifeguards were super attentive. Parking was easy and close to the sand, which made hauling gear and coolers a breeze. Just an all-around perfect SoCal beach day. Highly recommend Zuma for families, friend groups, or anyone looking to enjoy the coast.
Lonney G — Google review
It's been a while since I visited Zuma Beach, and the atmosphere is a bit calmer than other places.
Dessert ( — Google review
After many years in California, Zuma Beach still tops my son and I list of favorite surf spots — best enjoyed off-peak, of course: Monday to Friday, outside holidays, and early mornings before the crowds wake up. This is Malibu at its purest — long golden stretches of sand, clean waves, and that endless Pacific view that makes weekday emails feel like a bad dream. Surf’s great midweek when it’s mostly locals and dolphins sharing the lineup. Yes, it’s definitely not rare to surf among dolphins, great and unforgettable experience that you never get bored of. Weekends? A bit of a scene — come early or embrace the parking safari. Personally I avoid it as much as I can, if I can. Pro tip: pack snacks, wax up, and stick around long enough to watch the sun turn the whole beach into liquid gold
Guillaume B — Google review
My favourite beach in LA. Clean and quiet. In non-seasonal time parking just $3 instead $18 of summer time. Fresh air and great sunset is great spot to relax.
Ed T — Google review
This was one of my favorite beaches in LA. It's quieter and you can always find a parking space. It is a bit of drive on the weekend but worth it. On the weekends you have to pay for parking. But on the week nights it is free. There are restrooms there, not always clean but are there. So grab your favorite beach attire and have quiet cozy day at the beach.

Beach
Point Dume State Beach in Malibu, California is a stunning coastal destination known for its rugged coastline, recreational activities, and nature preserve. The beach has been featured in numerous iconic American movies due to its picturesque cliffs and panoramic ocean views. Visitors can explore headlands, cliffs, rocky coves, and vast beach access while observing migrating gray whales during the winter months. The nature preserve offers walking paths and access to a secluded cove called Pirates Cove.
I had such an amazing time at Point Dume! The location is absolutely stunning, with beautiful, clean water that’s perfect for a refreshing swim or just relaxing on the shore. It’s a fantastic spot for families too—our kids had a blast! While parking can be a bit challenging, if you arrive early enough, there’s public parking available that makes it manageable. What I loved most is how peaceful it felt compared to the busier beaches in LA. We saw an Orca happily swimming in the water. It’s the perfect escape if you’re looking for a more tranquil beach day. Highly recommend this spot, 100%!
Alejandro P — Google review
this is the best beach in SoCal. I'm from Los Angeles, and this is by far my favorite beach. It secluded with perfect sand, and the most amazing views. highly recommend!
Rodney — Google review
Another one of my happy places. Probably my favorite beach in all of California. It is so quiet, so beautiful, so peaceful, with great surf, & an excellent hike to the top of Point Dume where you'll get to see dolphins & whales out in the ocean. You'll have to pay for parking to get on the beach but it's well worth it. This section of Zuma Beach beats the other two sections by far, with those sections being Westward Beach and Zuma Main Beach. You must come check it out.
Jesus V — Google review
Point Dume State Beach in Malibu is an amazing place to unwind. The beach is quiet, with pristine sand and clear waters. The view from the cliffs is stunning, and the area feels more secluded compared to other Malibu beaches. It’s the perfect spot for a picnic or just a peaceful walk by the ocean. It’s less crowded, so you get a more relaxed, nature-filled experience. I love coming here to escape the crowds and spend a day surrounded by natural beauty
Kris E — Google review
Beautiful beach. There's also some really nice walking paths around.
Aiden S — Google review
You will have to pay $15 for parking if you plan on hiking up to Point Dume, which is a bit much. Plan on spending time on the beach to make it worth your while. Lots of wannabe influencers walking around taking selfies. Sunset is the best time to visit.
Steve J — Google review
Our favorite beach! ☀️ The kids and mom always have so much fun here! The parking is right on the beach. It’s a small beach so there’s usually not too many people. We try to go during the week. The walk close to the water is not very far and that’s my favorite part. I usually like to go in the afternoon because my favorite time is watching the sunset! 😍
Karen A — Google review
Absolutely beautiful beach! The water is a beautiful blue and the waves are huge at times and a lot of fun to watch. A good chance you’ll see dolphins while here. We decided to visit this as the wrap up to our California vacation and it was perfect. Free street parking is available but can be very tricky to find. Despite all the cars the beach didn’t feel overly crowded and there was plenty of room to spread out. Excellent beach!

Adamson House Museum is a Spanish Colonial Revival beach house built in 1929, located in Malibu. It's open for home and garden tours, offering visitors a glimpse into the rich history of the area. Situated on land originally inhabited by Chumash Indians and later owned by the Rindge family, this National Historic Site and California Historic Landmark showcases the legacy of its former owners.
Beautiful house and even more beautiful surrounding. The history behind this house and the region is astounding. Do the tour, you will not regret it. The tour guides are very well informed on the property and you can tell they are very passionate about what they do.
Stacey M — Google review
Freed admission to a piece of history. Do not drive past this gem. They have tours, but we missed them. Luckily, there is an excellent self-guided tour with plenty of signs.
Klaus — Google review
The Adamson House in Malibu is an absolute gem—beautifully preserved and rich with history. Our docent, Laurie, was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing stories of the Chumash people, the Spanish and Mexican eras, and the families who shaped the land and built the home. The Malibu Pottery tile throughout the house is breathtaking—its vibrant colors and intricate designs add so much character to every room. Laurie brought each space to life with fascinating details and passion for the home’s legacy. Nestled where the Pacific Ocean meets the Malibu Lagoon, the setting is nothing short of magical. The views alone are worth the visit. The grounds are immaculately maintained and bursting with charm. It truly felt like stepping back in time to a more elegant, slower-paced world. A must-visit for history lovers, architecture buffs, and native Angelinos, like me! Photos are not allowed inside - that's where you will find the fascinating details!
Natalie E — Google review
Beautiful manicured grounds overlooking picturesque white sandy beaches, turquoise seas and lagoon. Didn't go into the house but can do if you want to.
G — Google review
The house and grounds are beautiful, and you can walk around the outside and garden for free. Or, you can get a house tour for $7. The tour was really great! Our guide (Diane?) made the house come alive with some interesting history about the family and some cool details on the architecture and furniture. The tour lasted about 90 minutes and we loved it. They run tours whenever guides are free, not on a schedule, but we didn't wait long.
Steph C — Google review
The staff here understands how to treat people and clearly have a passion for the history of the home and surrounding area. I went for a private event and can't wait to do the full tour next time I'm in town.
Darryll D — Google review
If you are looking for an art museum with a big collection, a nice cafe and a well-stocked gift shop this isn’t it, and you’ll be happier at the Getty Villa just down the road on PCH. The Adamson House is a cozy local museum filled with beautiful architecture, gorgeous Malibu tiles inside and out, lovely fountains, hand-painted murals and a lot of local history. And since it is right on the beach, the views are stunning! The gardens are beautifully maintained and there are plenty of places to sit and enjoy the oceanfront views. You can even step down to the beach. There are docent tours daily but times vary and I’ve never actually seen a docent at the desk so it’s on my list to do that one day. But the house and grounds are beautiful and the signage all around tells the story of the house and its history. Adamson House is a short walk from Malibu Pier on PCH so I would have a nice lunch nearby first and enjoy a leisurely walk around these grounds afterwards. The Adamson House is not open every day and since the devastating Palisades/Malibu fires in January 2025, the hours often vary depending on what work is being done on PCH, so check their website before you plan your visit but don’t miss it!

El Matador State Beach is a hidden gem nestled along the stunning Malibu coastline, featuring three charming cliff-foot beaches that are particularly popular during the summer months. This picturesque spot is renowned for its breathtaking rock formations and natural arches, making it a favorite among photographers and filmmakers seeking to capture its beauty at sunrise and sunset. The beach gained fame as the backdrop for an iconic scene in 'The Notebook,' where romantic moments unfold against Malibu's majestic coastal bluffs.
El Matador State Beach is very beautiful especially if you come on a day that the weather is nice. The parking lot is limited but if you come early or just lucky then you might find a spot. The walk down to the beach is not bad and the rocks layout there are beautiful. We came this morning to take our maternity pictures and it was amazing.
Peter X — Google review
recently did a photoshoot at El Matador Beach in Malibu, and it was nothing short of breathtaking. This hidden gem offers dramatic cliffs, sea caves, and unique rock formations that make every shot feel cinematic. The natural light at golden hour was absolutely magical soft, warm, and perfect for capturing that dreamy, coastal aesthetic. The beach has a romantic, almost untouched feel to it, which added an organic, peaceful vibe to the shoot. Whether you’re aiming for editorial, lifestyle, engagement, or creative content, El Matador is an ideal backdrop. Just a heads-up: there’s a steep trail and stairs to get down to the sand, so wear comfortable shoes and travel light. Overall, El Matador Beach brought so much life and depth to my photos. I’d definitely go there again.
Kimberly L — Google review
Only cost $10 to park. A lifeguard is on duty on the hill and can be down to you in a minute! The rock formations are so cool. One looks like an elephant!

El Matador State Beach is breathtaking! We came at sunset and the views were unforgettable—dramatic cliffs, sea caves, and golden light. It’s a bit of a walk down, but totally worth it. Perfect for photos, picnics, or just relaxing. Must-visit spot!

This beach is particularly visit for photo sessions, it has rock area that simulates like a cave. Unfortunately was so pack that I couldn't take a good Pic this time. Parking lot available at entrance is $3 x hour, automatic machine available to pay. Easy access to the beach and beautiful scenic views, worth the drive.
Edith G — Google review
Beautiful beach with convenient parking. The views at sunset were amazing. Be warned that the parking lot closes at sunset and they start to close the gate before that to stop people coming in.
Tristan D — Google review
A surprising gem snuck in the base of the cliffs. Really crowded, but what beach in So. Cal. isn't? We were able to employ one of the tidal caves for a shaddy spot to play 5 Crowns and enjoy the afternoon. There lots of people taking pictures of people, so it must be a beautiful beach.

Solstice Canyon in Malibu offers a variety of hiking trails suitable for different skill levels, making it a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts. The approximately two-and-a-half-mile hike provides an opportunity to explore natural pools and a 30-foot waterfall while encountering remnants of a Polynesian-style property designed by renowned architect Paul Williams. The canyon features easy, moderate, and strenuous trails with scenic views of the mountains and ocean, making it ideal for hikers of all ages.
Fantastic moderate hike offering a blend of asphalt and dirt paths in certain areas. There are a few loop options available; the TWR loop is shorter and relatively simple for those seeking a brief excursion. For those desiring a more extended and scenic experience, I recommend heading towards the Tropical Terrace, then following the Sunset Trail back to Parking Lot 2. True to its name, this path offers stunning ocean and sunset views towards the day's end. It's a bit more strenuous due to elevation changes but remains within the moderate difficulty range.

We went on one of the many trails around here, and it was absolutely stunning! The views on this trail are breathtaking—definitely worth the effort. It’s a loop hike, and we preferred doing it clockwise. This way, the climb felt more gradual at first and gave us those rewarding canyon-top views with the canyon on one side and the ocean on the other. There’s also a little waterfall and a lively stream running through the trail (we went in July, and the water was still flowing nicely). Be prepared—the ascent can be quite steep in parts, but the payoff at the top makes it all worth it. Facilities are only available at the trailhead, so plan accordingly. Dogs are allowed, but they should be kept on a leash. Parking is a bit tricky. The lot only seems to hold about 30 ish cars. I would say on the moderate / hard side.

Nice hiking area. A three-mile hike that is somewhat paved with shade from trees. Small elevation gain, but management. There is a small waterfall at the end with a one-time home location that was burnt down, but you can still see its foundation.
Michael H — Google review
The trail loop is about 3 miles and took us a very leisurely 75 minutes with a dog. Go clockwise, starting with the canyon/the waterfall so that you face the view on the way down. No sun shelter on the way down. Very well maintained trail; easy to follow. We went on a Sunday morning and it was not busy at all. Parking was not a problem at 9am. Great views. Happy to do this again.

It is great place to hike and walk around. I saw quails, scrub jays and acorn woodpeckers.
Michelle J — Google review
This trail leads past rustic, vine‑tangled ruins of an old ranch house, through shaded canyons, ending with light coastal views. The path is easy and well‑maintained. I paused at old stone foundations and felt history’s presence beneath large sycamores. Only a handful of other hikers were there, giving a meditative vibe. Nice breeze and bird calls framed the walk beautifully

Got there at 7 in the morning to get easy parking. A moderate hike for this 65 year old to get to the waterfall. Early morning fog made it a cool wonderful temp. Keep to the left and stay on Solstice Canyon road to avoid thick foliage and slippery rocks and water crossing. I loved this hike and plan to do it again.
Cannondaledave C — Google review
A beautiful canyon with lovely trails. Winter and spring is the best time to visit as the water flows really well. The loop trail is approximately 2hrs long which is well worth it as you get to climb the canyon and see beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean and as far as Catalina Island. Less foot traffic in the morning.

Escondido Falls is a stunning waterfall located in the Santa Monica Mountains of Southern California. It is a multi-tiered waterfall, with upper and lower sections, and stands at an impressive 150 feet tall. The hike to reach Escondido Falls spans about 4 miles and begins near upscale residences before leading into a shaded canyon. The trail features natural roots, moss-covered rocks, and man-made ropes as it winds through the lush greenery of Escondido Canyon.
This has actually reopened. We went there yesterday, July 2025. Gorgeous hike with a great mix of canyon and ocean views. You’ll feel like you’re walking through a peaceful little forest—there’s plenty of shade thanks to the trees. There’s a small parking lot with a $12 fee, but you can also try parking on PCH just before or after the trailhead (if you’re lucky). A porta potty is available at the start. The first stretch goes through a residential area, but you’ll hit the actual trail soon after. Along the way, you’ll cross a few small streams, but it’s easy to stay dry with a bit of care. The highlight is the waterfall about an hour in—a perfect stopping point. Don’t bother trying to go further; there’s no real trail beyond that, and nothing more to see. Highly recommend for a light-to-moderate hike.
F T — Google review
The waterfall is barely there but it is still a beautiful hike! The first part of the hike is up the cement road, that will be the hardest part of the hike. When you make it to the top of that road, follow the path down the field that will lead you to the actual trail. Overall I would say this is an easy to moderate hike.
Anysia S — Google review
Falls is dried up (August) - had to walk .9 miles through just concrete before hitting the trail. Pretty mid hike.
Nisha P — Google review
Truly beautiful hike! The waterfall naturally gets very dried up in the summer, but still worth a visit!
Eliza F — Google review
A really nice waterfall hidden away in the forest. The hike is quite easy and the waterfall was flowing nicely. Not too much elevation gain and decent amount of shade. There were a moderate number of people but not too busy. A great way to spend some time in nature on a nice stroll.
Shawn S — Google review
What a hike! We went to the falls after a rainy day and boy was it muddy. We were so unprepared we decided to do the entire hike barefoot, which turned out to be a great idea. We had to pass 5/6 streams of water before getting to the waterfall, and it was worth it. Honestly not the most accessible trail especially after rain, would only recommend it on drier conditions. It was the biggest waterfall I have ever seen tho
Arthur B — Google review
This hike to the waterfall is fantastic. Along the way, you'll come across charming ponds to cross. To avoid the crowds, I recommend starting early in the day. Once you reach the waterfall, take a seat and relish the stunning views. The entire trail is shaded, making the journey even more enjoyable. Connecting with nature in this manner is truly the best way to unwind and rejuvenate.
Ramya G — Google review
This was such a beautiful place to visit! The walk up the hill from visitor parking was about a mile of literally just neighborhood to walk through. It was a gradual incline and definitely something to keep in mind for people who have trouble moving around or have a lot of little kids. Be sure to bring a small backpack or something with some water! Also, be sure to bring shoes you don't mind getting wet, we brought some special shoes for walking in water and then just had our tennis shoes separate to put on for dry land! There were four places we had to cross water, and we also walked across the stream to sit on the other side of the falls once we reached them! The falls were absolutely beautiful! It was a bit of a foggy day so there was a good bit of precipitation in the air, although it wasn't raining. It made for a very comfortable walk as it wasn't sunny, and the temperature was perfect! It also felt a bit surreal and almost like we were in a different country! The falls were still really going strong last week when we went! Definitely keep your eyes open for wildlife, there was a coral snake on the trail, unfortunately someone had killed it or someone's dog had attacked it, so it was dead. The walk back was great! Keep in mind, there are no public restrooms! Be sure to use the restroom before going to the hike! There is a public restroom at CVS if you go south on PCH. I'm sure there are other places to stop but it was easy to stop there and grab something to eat at Subway on the way home.

Malibu Bluffs Park, located just north of the Malibu Pier and past Pepperdine University, is a picturesque waterfront community park offering a range of recreational activities for families. The six-acre park features sports fields, a playground, picnic tables, restrooms, and a jogging path with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. Visitors can also enjoy whale watching from the park's designated station. Additionally, the Michael Landon Community Center hosts various community classes and events.
Amazing spot, dog and handicap friendly. Really nice for families to have a picnic at, many benches and bench tables, and a kids playground. Wildlife, like squirrels, that come decently close that you can take snaps of or just admire. Please do no feed them. Trails to take down to a small beach and have a nice little hike. I, myself, did not go on the trails. But someone I know did and I did when I was younger. They are beautiful. A little burnt atm because of the Palisades fire, but overall a great place to visit. Very serene.

A Park On A Bluff! This is a tasty little park that has sports fields, Community Center, playgrounds, dog friendly walking trails that are both paved and in paved. If you follow me then you know that I often examine the restrooms because I believe that if the restrooms are well taken care of then so will the rest of the facility. As you can see in my photos the restrooms were generally clean but did need some cleaning up. However, I do believe that the mess was recent and so I hope it’ll be resolved quickly. All and all it’s a nice park.

Point Dume is a serene coastal area in Malibu, offering picturesque trails and rocky coves with stunning views of Santa Catalina Island. The Koenig Beach House, an architectural gem by renowned architect Pierre Koenig, sits on Lechuza Point and provides breathtaking ocean and coastline views. This eco-friendly home features walls of glass for abundant natural light, seamless indoor-outdoor living spaces, an oversized spa with ocean views, and solar-powered smart home technology.
I visited this area many years ago and although a lot has changed in Malibu, I love this park. The park is very well preserved and maintained and the views are stunning. The only issue is the parking is very limited and I am not sure how well others follow the two hour parking time limit but since there were two of us we were able to takes turns and not use the on-site parking. I highly recommend and recommend going early to beat the crowd😁
Scott B — Google review
We arrived at Point Dume parking lot at 7:30 pm, plenty of parking spaces available, paid $3 at the prepaid ticket paying station. There were a lot of photo shootings right at the cliffs, the sunset was beautiful and unforgettable, we even saw some whales passing by. It took us about 10 minutes easy hike to get on top of the cliff. WOW! The panorama of the pacific ocean and the sunset was the best I have ever seen, come experience it yourself!

What a great experience.I went there thinking small it ended up being big. I got some great pictures of the surfers.Be prepared to walk down and up a lot of stairs. After that I took the little hike. And got to see a bunch of seals. That was a surprise. Then Just on the other side was a public beach. It was really nice.I was able to sit on the cliff and just people watch for a little.

A go to place for a unique and pleasant walk in one of Southern California's treasures. The parking sucks, very limited, and there are time restrictions, but you can get lucky much of the time. The loop trail is very scenic but not too strenuous, and you can take in the whole sight seeing experience within the time constraints of the parking limits. I highly recommend...
John P — Google review
This is a very short but beautiful hike. The hardest part is actually getting a parking spot. The hike takes no longer than a half hour out and back. The views at the top of Point Dume and along the trail are outstanding!
A R — Google review
Parking near Point Dume is limited—only about 12–14 cars can fit. Since I was set on finding free parking, I ended up a 10-minute walk away. Security is strict, with police regularly checking for parking violations. Some of my friends have even received tickets here, so it’s best to be cautious. The view is stunning—you can see all of Zuma Beach and much of the hills surrounding Big Dume Beach. It can get quite windy at the top of the hill, but it’s the perfect spot to sit, relax, and soak in the scenery for hours (I could sit the whole day).
Sabhrant — Google review
One of my favorite parts of Malibu. I sat at the top of one of the cliffs for an hour or so and saw a sea lion calling and sunbathing on a rock, two dolphins, and what looked to be orcas jumping off in the distance. Beautiful views, I highly suggest coming. Not really safe for young children though, because parts are just straight down without fencing or anything. For parking, you probably won't find space at the top, but just go to westward beach, its just $8 at modern parking when I went, then head south to the end of the beach and you can hike point dume from the bottom, which I highly suggest.

Nestled along the Pacific Coast Highway, Leo Carrillo State Park offers a 1.5-mile coastal stretch featuring caves, bluffs, and a reef. The park is ideal for various activities such as swimming, surfing, camping, hiking, and surf fishing. Visitors can explore tide pools teeming with marine life like anemones and crabs when the tide recedes.
The tide pools were phenomenal! And it was great that there's free parking on the side of the highway, so you don't have to pay for parking. It was a small walk from where we were able to park, across the highway and down a little hill to the beach. We found starfish, sea slugs, crabs, sea anemone, all kinds of fun critters. There's a rocky outcrop that's perfect for tide pooling. Bring sandals with Velcro straps for getting across the rocks easier. It's a bit painful barefoot, or you risk getting your shoes wet.

Clean park and restrooms. Rangers actively walk camp sites when people leave to clean up. Walking distance to the beach. Dog beach on leash on one side of rocks, no dogs on the other. Driving distance to Malibu. Handicapped sites don't have picnic tables on cement, but the spots are flat. Only electric hook up. Fill tanks with water before you get in your site. Potable water is available near dump area to fill tanks. Sites have community spouts.

Amazing! Dog friendly beach as well as non dog friendly. I only checked out the dog beach but it was very nice! The park rangers were so helpful! Rocks were great and the atmosphere here is peaceful! Campground is cute and simple and there are showers and bathrooms. You need coins for the shower and one coin gets you 2 mins of a hot shower. After that it is cold but still runs. I got a good reset here! All in all, great place, easy to access and I will be back if I am in the area! Hope to be able to camp here as the sites are so cute! White bark trees growing all in and around them!

Malibu Lagoon State Beach, also known as Surfrider Beach, is a 110-acre area with a famous surfing beach and an estuary that attracts migratory birds. The site has historical significance dating back to the Chumash people who settled in the area around 7000 years ago. The lagoon is formed where Malibu Creek meets the ocean, creating a unique environment for birdwatching and exploration.
Quiet place with beautiful views all around. We had fun watching pelicans flying and fishing around us, and there was also a bunch of big fish jumping out of the ocean very close to the beach, which was quite entertaining! We had a very nice and relaxing day there.

Malibu Lagoon State Beach is one of my favorite places to film Brown Pelicans. You can spot them here and during breeding season you get to see their breeding colors. Its pretty cool. Its a place I have visited many times and talked about it on my youtube channel. I highly recommend it. If you love to surf, it is also popular with surfers. They are fun to watch. I would suggest going through the back lagoon parking and walking to the beach. You will encounter some amazing birds like Cormorants and if you are lucky, the resident Osprey. If you like Seagulls you'll find a variety chilling on the beach as well as crows. It can be a hit or miss in terms on when it is busy but I especially like it when it is not. It allows me watch the wildlife peacefully.

We walked to the Malibu Lagoon State Beach from our condo, which was great. It was easy to find and easy to walk through. The scenery is beautiful in every direction. The rocks in the surf as well as the walk down Malibu Colony Beach is fantastic -- lots to see, great air to breathe and VERY clean beaches! The surfers are also entertaining in their full wet suits all jousting with one another to catch the next wave. Highly recommended!

Surfers’ favorite beach with nice but not huge waves. Nearby cafe and restaurants. Parking is limited. But you could potentially find parking along the Highway.
Justin L — Google review
Obscure beach park that’s usually less crowded than beaches alongside of Pacific Coast Highway. Unlike the other beaches, this one surrounds the mouth of Malibu Creek. So it combines some oceanfront surf with a kind of wildlife estuary experience! It’s possible to hike and swim around the sand bars, tho with caution for tidal surges and riptides! A trail continues beyond the end of Cross Creek Place to Malibu Point, where the public beach begins. Depending on conditions, surfing may be possible from Malibu Point, to the opposite side of the inlet, tho more likely at Surfrider Beach! Restrooms are provided in the outhouse next to the Adamson House Museum. Paid parking is available either at Cross Creek Place, or beside the Adamson House. Free parking may be found along PCH by the Malibu Pier and alongside Cross Creek Road.

Went midday on a chilly weekday, just to have a picnic by the beach. It was empty, and quiet, and beautiful. The kids ended up playing in the water and had a great time. We saw pelicans, sand pipers, and a couple sea lions popped their heads out of the water. The only drawback is a couple of the ones who went into the water ended up getting some sort of tar stick to the bottom of their foot.

Beautiful beach! Surf or Boogie board beach. The break near shore churns rocks, making swimming entry painful and hazardous. Surfrider Beach, located in Malibu, is a popular spot for both surfers and beach enthusiasts. With almost a mile of ocean to enjoy, visitors can swim, surf, or simply watch the locals catch some waves. This iconic surfing location has been a go-to spot since the 1940s and is known for its legendary surf breaks. While it may not offer a secluded beach experience due to its popularity, it remains an ideal destination for water sports and surfing.
One of my favorite surfing beaches for so many reasons! It seems to be the most popular surfing spot in the area because of good waves! Because they roll in at angles to the shore, surfers can return to their waiting spots via sand beach path, or around to wade thru shallow water. The beach with surf is clean and accessible, has lifeguards present during the daytime and is designated for surfing! In addition, there’s several parking options, from street parking to lots with attendants, local businesses and shopping centers. Public restrooms may be found by the lifeguard station and at the outhouse of the Adamson House Museum. Waves are fairly good for surfing and boogie boarding. When everyone’s spaced in consideration of others, the effect of multiple surfers going up top simultaneously per given wave is awe-inspiring, as if all to ride with every set! Newcomers and newbie’s may survey the waterfront from the parking lot, as to best fit in with the camaraderie for optimal enjoyment! Surfrider experienced boarders may have regular spots to wait and hang out together. Thus crowding conflicts are minimized, as the unspoken etiquette is understood and respected!

Great beach for surfing. Limited swimming area. Bathrooms are full flush type. Next to Malibu Pier and nice restaurant / across street as well as on the pier.

Loved this beach. Great spots for getting in the water safely and not big waves throwing you around. Next to the Malibu Pier which makes it more fun to enjoy the view around. Restaurants are at a walking distance so no problem to eat something quick and come back. Couple of lifeguard shacks. People who were enjoying the ocean were decent and well behaved so I feel pretty safe to come back with my kids next time.

Great beach for long boarding , chilling on the beach or swimming. The waves usually are usually not too big on the swimming side, so it’s easy to get in. Great surfer vibes. Beautiful sunset. Parking: Parking can be difficult on the weekends, but I have always been able to find street parking or in the Surfrider beach lot ($15) or the Lagoon state beach lot (around $3.50 per hour). Eating: There is Malibu farms at the pier near by, aviator nation, or other spots. I have not been to a restaurant that has really impressed me there.

The absolute best dive store in the entire state of California: Superb customer service, knowledge and experience, variety of training offered for all levels from beginner all the way to instructor, best gear selection also. I chose Malibu Divers several years ago because I had called other places and NO ONE provided the kind of customer service and information that Malibu Divers' owner, Carter Crary did. Over the years, I continued my training there, bought all of my wonderful gear and went all the way to PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer level. I would never go anywhere else! This is the place!

I am a troop leader and brought a group of scouts out to Camp Emerald Bay for the Rugged S and Rugged O programs. From the beginning, Carter made sure things were organized and easy for me as the adult leader. On site, the boys had a blast and came home RAVING about the experience and their instructors - Barbara, Kari, Matt, and Alex. It is clear that Malibu Divers loves what they do, and they do it well. They went above and beyond to make this week *amazing* for all involved, with efficiency and excellence in their program from start to finish. I would definitely come back, and can't wait to go get certified myself! Thank you for everything!
K C — Google review
Malibu Divers is a truly a five-star dive center. My entire family utilized Malibu Divers to become advanced certified divers this summer (our 11 year-old got his junior open water certification). I can see why Malibu Divers has been around since 1969. The sheer volume of knowledge and experience that each staff member has is INCREDIBLE. They are able to break down their knowledge for any lay person to understand. They are also all very caring people, making sure that each student receives what feels like customized instruction (made possible by the small class sizes). They want people to feel comfortable, have fun, and become knowledgeable, responsible divers. When we conducted our training, we saw many competing companies at the dive sites. The smallest class from other shops were usually 12 adults; however, when we saw a big box store entering the water with 18 adults. It was at this point I truly appreciated Malibu Divers mindset on class sizes. Here is why: ask yourself how fast can a weighted down instructor or divemaster get to you if something went wrong in such a large class size. While I understand there are ratios of students to instructors to ensure safety; other variables that are taken into account for all class sizes are divers abilities, environmental factors all the way to divers comfort level. As a result, it make me think how can an instructor know the comfort level and or diver ability in such a large class. With Malibu Divers you are getting a practically custom PADI certification experience with caring, experienced professional instructors. My wife and I plan to conduct our Rescue Diver certification with Malibu Divers next month, and we look forward to a long, happy relationship with the shop.

Malibu Beach is a must-see destination for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles. Located about 30 minutes north of Santa Monica, this posh beach area offers stunning views and beautiful stretches of sand. One highlight is the drive along Pacific Coast Highway, which provides an unforgettable experience. El Matador Beach, also known as Malibu's Megastar, comes highly recommended for its beauty.
Malibu Beach is a stunning destination offering a perfect blend of natural beauty and laid-back California vibes. The picturesque coastline, with its soft sand and crystal-clear waters, creates an ideal setting for sunbathing and beachcombing. The views are breathtaking, especially during sunset when the sky lights up in vibrant hues. The beach is well-maintained, providing ample facilities, including restrooms and picnic areas. I appreciated the family-friendly atmosphere, as there were plenty of families enjoying the surf and sand. The nearby eateries and shops also make it convenient to grab a bite or pick up beach essentials. One of the highlights was the sense of community—people of all ages enjoying the outdoors, whether surfing, playing beach volleyball, or simply relaxing. The vibe is peaceful, making it a perfect spot to unwind and soak in the sun.

🌊 Malibu – Sun, Surf and Coastal Beauty 🌊 Malibu is one of the most beautiful coastal spots in California. The beaches are stunning, the ocean sparkles in every shade of blue, and the sunsets are simply unforgettable. Driving along the Pacific Coast Highway, you immediately feel the relaxed vibe and unique lifestyle of the area. Tip: Go early in the morning to enjoy the beaches with fewer people and to see the famous Malibu Beach Houses. A walk or short hike along the coast is perfect for taking in the cliffs, nature, and incredible ocean views. The small cafes and restaurants by the beach are also a highlight. Fresh seafood, Californian specialties, and a drink in the sun make the day complete. Verdict: Malibu is more than just a beach. It’s a place full of sun, nature, and classic California charm. I would visit again anytime, and it easily earns five stars.
Enzo V — Google review
Very beautiful and way less crowded than the public beach. There are several spots with free parking along the road. At least I believe it was for you. There was no sign saying you couldn’t park and we didn’t get ticketed or towed 😂. There were quite a few spots where I saw other people parking for beach access. So the public beach areas are looking for take the time in drive and you’ll find a lot of other little spots with beach access.

OMG THIS IS SHOCKING 😳 I went here and this is my first time in California. I was picturing a beautiful beach and a safe place to visit. Be careful if you are there with young children there are many people that look dangerous. There was a surprising amount of homelessness on the beaches and that really surprised me and I didn’t feel comfortable leaving my stuff on the beach and taking a swim. The houses burnt down from the fires is insane I don’t understand how this can happen naturally this is definitely man made. I hope you can enjoy your time here if you are already here. Parking is extremely hard to get in this beach so you’re lucky if you find a parking spot. Just be careful but have fun.🏝️

Malibu Beach was absolutely amazing! The scenery was breathtaking—different from any other beach we’ve visited. The views are some of the best you’ll ever see, and the water is so clear and inviting. It’s a more relaxed, “off-the-beaten-path” kind of spot, giving it a peaceful, almost secluded vibe compared to more crowded beaches. If you’re looking for a unique beach experience in California, Malibu Beach is definitely the place to go. Perfect for photos, soaking in the sun, or just enjoying a slower pace of life. Bring your beach gear and take your time—it’s the kind of place that makes you want to stay all day.

Might be the most overpriced grocery store in LA, including Erewhon, and that’s saying something. Standard household items easily cost double or triple what they would cost at Whole Foods. Egregious behavior — you have to hope it’s because their real estate costs are so high. And that begs the question of why we didn’t listen to Henry George….

I’d love to give more stars, but this place is simply not worth the money. First of all – the area around the sunbeds was dirty. I know the beach is public, but when I’m paying $150 per bed, I expect clean sand under my feet, not bottle caps and cigarette butts. Second – the sunbeds and umbrellas were the dirtiest I’ve ever seen. There was sand all over the beds even before guests laid down. The food was tasty, but the portions have gotten much smaller compared to 2019, while prices have gone up. Even the kitchen staff couldn’t manage to put tortilla chips on the side. Why? Just check the photos and videos from back then versus now. I’m giving 2 stars for amazing bread & because the waiters were kind and very polite, but the restaurant is clearly understaffed. This place is “good” only because of the ocean – which isn’t the owners’ doing, but Mother Nature’s. You can do better, guys.
Veronika P — Google review
One of the best spot in SoCal where to enjoy some sort of private/public beach access. Definitely Malibu’s version of heaven, if heaven charged for $45 parking and served piña coladas. It’s iconic for a reason: golden sand, calm waves, and just enough Beach Boys nostalgia to make you hum “Surfin’ USA.” Half the crowd’s here for the sunshine, the other half’s reenacting movie scenes that were actually filmed here. Where else can you sip a cocktail literally on the sand while pretending you’re in a vintage postcard? The views are unbeatable, however be cautious to not let food in the open as the seagulls clearly believe they own the place (and actually, they do). Pro tip: you’ll pay for parking unless you brave the PCH and walk a little — either way, it’s worth every sun-soaked step

I have driven by Rosenthal's about once a month and always wanted to check it out. So, since I work on Sundays I thought, why not take my wife there for an early Mother's day stop. Well, she loved it. Greg was our server at the inside tasting room and made us feel very welcome. The tasting is not cheap at $18 - $21 but you need to treat yourself once in awhile. We agreed that the wines are very nice, specially the SR 2018 Grenache. We belong to 2 wineries which run in the $24- $32 range but they are in Oxnard and Ojai. Being on PCH in Malibu you can expect to pay a bit more. We enjoyed a bottle at $48 along with live music and some better than average food truck selections. We arrived at 12:40 and got very lucky with a parking spot right up front on the highway. That saved us $8 parking fee. They should consider parking validation with wine purchase. The tasting room is quaint and becomes small once the heard on people show up from 2 to 4. All the outside seating except 2 small 4 chair tables were marked reserved which was disappointing but we got the front row barrel with shelf center stage for the live music. With all that said I still give this a 4 out of 5 only because of the lack of unreserved seating. The age group is mostly 21 to 29 with some older people hanging out like us, just relaxing, sipping, eating, people watching and enjoying the overall experience that makes PCH worth the 40 mile drive from Camarillo. We will return and bring others and snacks to enjoy next time around. Thanks to Greg for remembering my name too, that actually means a lot. See you next time.

There will be Malibu Farmers market where different items like handmade things and also variety of foods of different cuisines. We visited this place on Sunday by seeing those pics, but when we arrived this place then we saw market and got confused. But if we had visited on weekday we might get disappointed. Visited this beach and it was good! We got lucky with parking which is $10 I believe we paid. It’s a small lot so you may have to find street parking if no spot is available. The trek to the beach is a pretty steep hill down and then a flight of stairs but the beach itself is really nice, and secluded. We went in the afternoon so there wasn’t too many people. (Note: porta potty’s are in the parking lot)
Macy K — Google review
Super cute beach. Very lowkey, and definitely has a private beach feel. Enough sand to lay out a blanket, and chair, and relax. Lots of seaweed gets tossed up & not reclaimed by the Ocean...but nothing intolerable. Tide pools on either end (very cool🤓) and rocky areas on either side, so be careful swimming (maybe use water shoes to be safe if swimming near the rocky ends). Per usual in California, the water is FREEZING. However it is very clean & was pleasant to dip my feet in while strolling along the edge of the ocean. If you do swim, the waves are STRONG & powerful & it looks like rip currents are running thru. Also there is no lifeguard stand, so be safe & careful 🌊 Meanwhile, a lot of people have described the hill & stairs that bring you from the bluff to the beach, but I dropped in pictures so you can really see. Its not far at all. However, you definitely want to put on hiking sandals/shoes or sneakers to walk down & back up. Its not terrible tho...just, please avoid any slide type shoes/sandals. Also if you have any knee or mobility issues, grab a hiking/walking stick to support you, and you'll be good! The stairs & rail are sturdy, they just look intimidating. Go slow, you'll be fine😊 As everyone has stated, parking is very interesting. There's a tiny lot at the top of the bluff ($10/day) - otherwise you have to find parking along the PCH, then walk back to the park entrance. (Watch for the "don't park" Signs!) This was a great visit & definitely has been added to my list of fave Malibu beaches. I can see myself coming here even after summer is over, just to sit, and write & meditate. Zuma & Point Dume were my go-to's prior. Super happy to have another to add to that list. 🙌🏾🥳 🚨Ps if you're preggers, if you drove to Malibu & drank your bodyweight in caffeine otw, or if you just in general have a finicky bladder, pick another beach - unless you're cool w/sprinting up 50-ish stairs + a quarter mile 75° incline + another 200 meters to get to the porta-potty🚻😬🥹 ...there are not any down on the beach.

This beach is not really crowded. There are many people but you have enough space for privacy. However I did go in the afternoon time during a weekday. I came here to read a book on my birthday last year. You do need to pay for parking I think it was around $3-7. Very peaceful. Getting here there is curves you need to turn on so be careful if you get car sick easily.

Had a great time here. Easy parking. A little high, but no time limit for 20 bucks. Had public bathrooms. Nice sandy beaches. Good place to bring the kids. Free parking Along rt. 1, but must need to get there early to find a spot.

Amazing beautiful quiet little beach, not crowded at all and amazing rock formations and plants
Anthony G — Google review
One of my favorite "off the beaten path" beaches. Never too crowded, always pleasant vibes. Be sure to be ready for the stairs down and back up; it is not a beach you want to transport a lot of gear to. FYI: There is only a port-a-potty, and it is back in the parking lot. Please remove all your trash!

I'm not one that likes to give less than a 5 Star Review, however, when a less than Perfect status is deserved, it should be made known. Happened into El Pescador State Beach today with high hopes that it would be a decent beach with no real amenities other than the 3 S's! Sand, Surf and Sun! Well, we got all 3, but in order to enjoy the Deliciousness, we had to take our lives into our own hands. The descent from civilization down to the beach has numerous pitfalls and areas where one can get hurt Really bad, or worse! The beach itself was rather peculiar with Wood Statues strewn throughout the area. As I write this we are just an hour or so before sunset, and hoping we will Live once we begin our trek back to the car. Incidentally parking here is $3/hour or $10/for the day. Being a 'State Beach', I certainly expected quite a bit better.

Las Tunas Beach, situated at the southern tip of Malibu, offers a more serene and less crowded beach experience compared to other nearby beaches. It is a popular spot for activities such as fishing, scuba diving, and swimming. The beach is easily accessible but can be noisy due to its proximity to the Pacific Coast Highway. The neighborhood surrounding the beach boasts homes with stunning ocean views and ample beach frontage.
This is a great beach in the coastal city of Malibu and summer is a great time to visit as it gives you a respite from the heat because of the close proximity to the Pacific Ocean. It is not too far from Santa Monica and you can plan on covering both on the same day.

Water was a study of blues and green. Great place to center in on thoughts, especially after a Santa Monica mountain hike. I do so love this city.

This is a bias review simply because I love the beach. I especially loved the little turnout patch of sand I was able to park to enjoy the sunshine, ocean sounds and scenic views. It was peaceful people were friendly and just like I enjoying the waves crashing into the rocks below. The spot isn't that large and that turnout is free parking its literally along the shoreline just keep and eye out for it. If you find this little gem give me a thumbs up. I literally fell asleep in my car unbothered listening to the waves and sea life, oh can't forget the sounds of foreign muscle and import cars occasionally ripping down pch but who am i kidding i loved it all.😁👍🏼

It's a nice stop to breathe once and awhile, also a warning to others with loose pockets, be careful cause your things will fall into a hole in the rocks. Bad for you and the environment.

An easy commute from LA, this Yankee was enthralled with the vistas, previously only seen in the movies! Parking was easy, and the beach was wide and clean (it certainly wasn't littered by sea shells, which this easterner thought was interesting). The water was cool and clean, and small whales swam parallel to the shore. We could hear them exhale as they surfaced! We strolled, scarcely able to believe that we were there. It still could have been, but I have pictures. Go.

Great little stop off point from PCH with a small dirt parking lot and enough shoulder space for additional parking. As a note, at high tide there's really no accessible beach as the water comes right up to the rocks at the edge of the roadway.

Its diverse terrain includes lush forests and open ridgelines, providing a peaceful hiking experience away from crowds. Accessible via Tuna Canyon Road, this hidden gem is perfect for nature enthusiasts seeking tranquility amidst stunning natural scenery.
Great Feel at Malibu as so close to the sky, the sea and almost parallel as the clouds. So grateful to see the sunset at summer time. Many dogs and their owners are passing here. Interesting as the places are back gardens for the local neighborhood.

The road is a bit narrow but it has great views throughout the journey. It has nice stop points to enjoy the views. Would recommend if you like the roadtrips and do a quick one around a mountain.

May 26/2023 It had a lot of flowers due to rain season, looked very good! We saw a lot of bugs & lizards, we even saw a big SNAKE!(Watch the video) It has very rewarding views no matter what path you take! I recommend to take a left after the white gate then another left up. There was this weird formation of rocks at the top, Parking is very limited so go early! Its a difficult drive up small roads in a residential area.
Mahmoud J — Google review
I hiked a quieter spur of Tuna Canyon recently and was glad to find plenty of shade and surprisingly few people for a weekend. The trail contours through coastal scrub and offers peekaboo views that feel like a mini-escape from the city. Trail markings can be sparse in places, so I kept my phone map handy and took my time. Bring water and wear sturdy shoes — some sections are rockier than you expect. Great for a peaceful morning walk when the busier trails are packed
Marcus V — Google review
A delightful place to hike with various exertion levels available for just about everyone. The views are phenomenal too. These photos are from Christmas day 2022. You can stick to the main fire roads, head up ridges on single track trails, hike towards the ocean, follow the curve of the mountain ridge... There's just a lot to explore here, and the views are available no matter which way you turn. Parking is limited. There's a tiny area next to the trailhead and a few street parking spots, so early is better if you're there on the weekend. We decided that if we couldn't find a spot, we'd head back up to the Stunt Road Lookout area where there's plenty of parking and at least 3 hiking trails from which to choose. Fortunately, we were able to find a spot.
Sara A — Google review
The biggest problem with it is it’s an awful pain in the butt to get to. The road there is straight up and incredibly windy. I parked next to a fire access road on Tuna Canyon and took that to the trail. There are trails running all over the place and there are absolutely no trail signs anywhere. I had to rely completely on google maps. The views are spectacular and there are very few people on the trail most of the time. It’s dog friendly and I took the pup. There are quite a few significant hills but they aren’t so bad that you can’t handle them. This is one of the SoCal hikes you can go on and actually feel like you’re in nature. There are tons of flies for some reason. They really are all over the place. A lot of lizards and I did see a rabbit. Didn’t see any mosquitoes but I was there during the day.
Scott B — Google review
This one is quieter than nearby Topanga trails. The fire road out to the overlook is a gentle walk, and the view of the coastline is ridiculous on a clear day. Saw paragliders catching thermals in the distance. Trail is exposed but breezy. Perfect place to catch a sunset.

Malibu Lagoon State Beach is a hidden gem that offers ideal surfing conditions, beautiful gardens, picnic seating, and a fishing pier. It's also home to the Adamson House and Malibu Lagoon Museum, which are National Historic Sites with exhibits detailing the area's rich history. The museum showcases artifacts and documents from the time of the Chumash Indians and the era of ranching in Malibu.
A place for surfing. And the ocean waves give you speed. A beautiful place. From the side there is a bird commandment, many birds. It is beautiful and very cozy here.
Yuliya K — Google review
Malibu Lagoon State Beach offers some stunning views and a relaxing atmosphere once you get there, but it does come with a few challenges. The parking lot is fairly small, and the walk to the beach itself can feel longer than expected, especially with the uneven, sandy path. You also need to watch out for curbs peeking through the sand, which can be tricky if you're carrying beach gear or managing kids. Once you make it to the beach, the views are spectacular, and the waves are soothing. In the afternoon, when the tide is low, stones become visible in the shallow water, where you can often spot crabs. The surfers add a special touch, though seeing them so close to the sharp stones in deeper waters can be a bit nerve-wracking. My main reason for the lower rating is the bathroom situation. After the summer crowds left, the number of porta potties dropped from five to just two, and with such a popular spot, they get dirty very quickly. On the plus side, there’s a well-organized Whole Foods across the street, so if you forget to pack food or drinks, you can easily pick up what you need for a great beach day. If you're prepared for the walk and the porta potty situation, Malibu Lagoon State Beach is still a lovely destination.

We love Malibu! This was our first visit in a long time but we were in town and wanted to enjoy the sun. We were lucky to get a parking spot on the street right away. There was also paid parking for $15. The lot was full but seemed like a lot of in and out but once on the beach we were able to find a nice spot. Be forewarned there are no bathrooms but there is a Jack in the Box across the street. Also if you get a chance the Malibu pier is near by so check it out.

Expensive parking. Difficult to get in busy seasons. A moderately long walk to the beach. Sand has a lot of wood debris. Best to walk with shoes. Beautiful ocean but, unlike the Carolina beaches, there are large rocks in the water. Riding the waves could mean a bump on the head. LOL Bigger waves allow surfers some options. All in all, loved Malibu Beach.

Malibu Lagoon State Beach is a peaceful, serene spot that feels worlds away from the hustle and bustle of LA. It’s perfect for those looking for a quieter, less crowded beach experience. The lagoon is home to a variety of wildlife, making it a great spot for birdwatching, while the surrounding areas are perfect for a leisurely walk or a relaxing day on the sand. The beach itself is clean and well-maintained, with soft sand and clear waters. Malibu is known for its beautiful coastline, and this particular beach is a hidden gem—less touristy and perfect for those who want to escape the crowds. I love spending a few hours here, just taking in the views and the peaceful atmosphere.

Absolutely beautiful today. Point Dume has plenty of parking. Both free and paid however you should get there before 10:00 am. The hiking trails is about a 5 for toughness however, there are stairs to climb if you are an advanced hiker. Today, I even saw mountain climbing. Very safe and clean. One restaurant is right at the beach if you are hungry. There is a location area directly on the beach you can rent for a wedding. Great place to bring out of town guests. Dog-friendly, and restrooms if needed.

Zuma Beach, located along the Malibu coast, is a popular 1.8-mile-long sandy stretch frequented by both locals and tourists. It's a hotspot for surfing, boogie boarding, and body surfing, but caution is advised due to rough waves and rip tides. November offers experienced surfers a more challenging ride with steep drops. The beach also provides breathtaking sunset views that make for memorable moments.

This has been my favorite spot since I was a kid. Sadly the bathrooms have been closed for over 2 years. If I had children I would choose a better area with working bathrooms. When will the city fix the plumbing and reopen the bathrooms, especially since parking costs $25?

This beach is just beautiful. It is pretty clean considering it is a public beach. The sand is nice and white. There are plenty of restrooms here.
E Y — Google review
This was my second visit to the beach. It started off cloudy but ended sunny which made for a really nice day overall. The beach wasn’t crowded, just comfortably populated. I paid for parking, but honestly, street parking might be a better choice next time. The bathroom situation was less than ideal. It was pretty gross, but I guess that’s not too surprising for a “public” beach. On the bright side, the waves were great, the atmosphere was family- and pet-friendly, and there were volleyball nets and attentive lifeguards, which is always reassuring. All in all, a decent beach day with room for improvement!

Salesh S — Google review
Really nice beach, it has clear sand it’s well maintained. The parking is big and there is enough space all around the place. It also has restrooms with running water and soap. We visited at the end of September and the water was nice. I wish there was some umbrella rental or food to buy at this time of the year.

Expensive to park. Hard to access from PCH. There should be a signal because that area is busy. The beach is good. A family beach. It gets very windy. I love to see the dolphins there. There is trash by the bathrooms. Last time there no TP. The Rec guys working didn't care, useless, when I told them. We needed it in the ladies bathroom. Volleyball areas. Lifeguards are great.

County Line Beach in Malibu is the northernmost beach bordering Ventura County, offering easy parking along PCH and a break from the crowds. The crystal-clear waters are often shared with dolphins and tiny reef sharks, making it a perfect spot for surfers and kite surfers. Beginners can enjoy the wide beach break, while more experienced surfers can head to the right-hand Point Break at the northern tip of County Line for better-shaped waves.
Awesome stretch of oceanfront beach! A rare spot at the ocean surf where parking is free, surfing is good and the views are unobstructed. There’s lots of sand beach to find space to layout on within view of our parked vehicles. Early surfers get the choicest spots, while latecomers may need to start back across from the Neptune’s Net restaurant to park and then walk boards over to a desired location. Summertime may be very crowded, tho with lifeguards in attendance. Fall thru autumn visits here have been ideal, even at mid-day! While I didn’t notice a lifeguard stationed here, I did see a roving patrol to help oversee the safety during the offseason. The restrooms are substituted with port-o-potty’s, with additional options available across the highway back at Neptune’s Net while going to get prepared food. I’d urge caution when parking alongside either side of Pacific Coast Highway, leaving enough space to step out of the driver’s side from fast moving traffic. Also being mindful both ways if when crossing the highway.
Jim K — Google review

Nice beach with beautiful California sunsets. Park on the street and walk down. This beach can be popular with local surfers. Neptune's Net is across the street for food and drink. It isn't that crowded. Spectacular view from the bluffs on top.
Karin B — Google review
Nice beach. Arrived at the beach at 0800 and parking was filling up. Appears to be a lot of PCH side parking, but with nice weather and beautiful beaches there can never be enough parking. The break is a mix of sand and stone, which seems to help with the shape of the waves. There is a sand beach with space for towels and beach umbrellas if that's your thing. Surf was 3-5' and water temperature was ~62, which was fine spring suit weather on a sunny day. Surf was crowded and with only a couple of take off spots, two or three good surfers were catching all the waves. That said, there were enough leftovers for everyone.

The public beach Little Dume Beach is a scenic beach located east of Point Dume in Malibu. It's popular with the surfing community, but otherwise is generally a great place to take a walk.
This is the most fascinating, intimate beach I've ever been to. It is private access, and I went with a friend, Arnie, who lives in the neighborhood above the cliffs, as well as with Nick, the friend I was staying with in Culver City. Not crowded at all. Only about 25 people on the whole beach, since the access is private. As you can see from the entry pic, you ain't getting in from the land access. You'll have to walk on the beach from a public access to get to use it. It was my first experience with the Pacific ocean, as well as my first time in California. I lost my footing once I got waist deep and the surf rolled me back up onto the beach like a fat, wet burrito. Even with that, the 20 minutes i spent on this beach will always be one of my fondest memories.

I got access to this fabulous beach from Point Dume Natural Preserve, it's a little bit of a challenge to go down but it's absolutely worth it, especially for surfers, it's less crowded when other beach are busy , if you are more of beach walking, head out on this for about 2.7 miles and you are at Paradise Cove beach,
SHAWN — Google review
On Friday, we had originally been planning to do a hike, but two-thirds of our party was extremely exhausted from activities earlier in the week. It was a shame since I’d been looking forward to doing the dawn mine hike. So, instead, we went to Malibu and relaxed on the beach for a few hours. This wound up being a great way to unwind after such an incredibly packed week. The waters were quite cold, that day, and the waves were remarkably strong--strong enough that I didn’t go in, despite how much I’d enjoyed my time in the ocean on Tuesday. Instead, I just sat on a towel in the sand with my friends for a few hours, enjoying one of our last few days in Los Angeles. We were going to split off into pairs, that night, so we left the beach early to get ready for our planned evenings. I didn’t get to experience sunset or evening at this beach, but I can imagine that it would have been absolutely mesmerizing. I hope to go and see it again during the golden hours, someday.

Regal Cinemas Malibu Twin is a small theater complex with multiple screens showcasing the latest movie releases. The cinema offers plush, comfortable seating and a concession stand for snacks. It features Regal Cinema's RealD 3D projection technology and accepts mobile tickets. While some visitors appreciate the cozy atmosphere and comfortable seats, others note limited movie options and higher prices. Unfortunately, the theater has permanently closed its doors, but it was once considered a good place to catch a film with fewer crowds.
