1Hassan II Mosque

Mosque
Place of worship
Religious destination
The Hassan II Mosque, completed in 1993, is a grand oceanfront mosque located in Casablanca. It is the second-largest mosque in Africa and can accommodate up to 25,000 worshipers. The mosque offers guided tours for non-Muslims and features a unique glass floor that allows Muslims to pray directly over the sea.
Really enjoyed our visit and our guide was Ilyas Lagssaibi. He has only been performing tours for a couple of months, however was very knowledgeable and was able to provide excellent commentary throughout the tour. He provided detailed information, in a way that was interesting and easy to digest. The mosque is impressive and has huge doors, which are operated automatically due to the weight and size. As many as 120,000 people can prey at a time! *Note* We found it very difficult to even find out where to buy our tickets! You must go to the mosque museum which opened at precisely 2.35pm after afternoon prayers had ended. Unsure about other times, this was the times for us. We paid 280MAD (2 x person) and visited the museum and then joined a small group for the tour. Shoes must be removed on entry and you're given a bag to carry them. Surprisingly, dress code was fairly relaxed and I was ok in shorts, which I thought might be an issue. (I had a sarong just in case).
Neil B — Google review
Truly beautiful and awe-inspiring building. I love that the guided tours are included because it sets a good pace and gives context to everything you see. The artwork and architectural details are enough to leave you with your mouth open; not to mention the scale of it all. Very well worth a visit if you’re in Casablanca.
Felipe L — Google review
An architectural masterpiece by the ocean. The Hassan II Mosque is absolutely breathtaking the sound of the waves mixes with the call to prayer, creating an unforgettable atmosphere. The craftsmanship inside is extraordinary, with intricate mosaics, marble, and carved cedarwood everywhere you look. Standing beneath the 210-metre minaret felt truly humbling. It’s one of the few mosques in the world open to non Muslim visitors, and the guided tour was well organised and insightful. A must-see landmark that defines the beauty and soul of Casablanca.
Dr A — Google review
Beautiful architecture - definitely worth the entry fee. There's so much attention to detail and I haven't seen another mosque like it. It's impressive that part of it is built directly over the ocean. What disappointed me was that security wouldn't let me enter the underground area because I arrived with a group and my ticket was tied to the guide. Give yourself enough time to explore and enjoy it - I didn't have enough and really wished I could have stayed longer.
Tsvetelina D — Google review
Incredible and magnificent construction, certainly a must go in the city. The ticket is very good priced (140 full price & 70 Dirham reduced) and they have tours in many languages. It was special to hear about the history and purpose of a place for one people, the humans being, without differences. Super recommend on going and paying attention to the history and magnitude.
Leonardo V — Google review
It is without a degree of exaggeration, this mosque reflect the genius and greatness of Islamic (Moorish) architecture. It is undoubtedly one of the world’s greatest wonders. It is so beautifully constructed and overwhelmingly inspiring building. I have visited great places around the world and I will not hesitate to say it tops them all! Entrance is free.
Dr. S — Google review
The Hassan II Mosque is absolutely stunning, a true architectural masterpiece and a must-see in Casablanca. However, there was a very long line at the ticket office, and unfortunately, only one cashier was working, which made the wait quite slow. Still, once inside, the beauty and grandeur of the mosque made it completely worth it!
Rima B — Google review
The Hassan II Mosque is absolutely breathtaking — a true architectural masterpiece and one of the most impressive landmarks I’ve ever visited. Its sheer size is awe-inspiring; it’s one of the largest mosques in the world, perched dramatically on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. The intricate tilework, marble detailing, and the stunning minaret (the tallest in the world) all come together to create a sense of grandeur and serenity. What surprised me most was how peaceful it felt despite its scale. The crowds were surprisingly small when I visited, which made it easy to take in the beauty of the place at a relaxed pace and enjoy the calm atmosphere. It’s rare to find a site of this magnitude that still feels so tranquil and welcoming. Whether you’re interested in architecture, culture, or simply want to experience a moment of quiet reflection by the sea, the Hassan II Mosque is an absolute must-see.

The Museum of Moroccan Judaism in Casablanca is a small yet unique museum that offers a fascinating glimpse into the rich Jewish history of Morocco. Housed in a beautifully restored villa, which was once an orphanage, the museum showcases a diverse collection of artifacts including religious items, traditional clothing, and historic documents.
A wonderful insight into the Jewish community. It showcases some fine artifacts, clothes, photos and rituals performed by this community. On display is also the lifestyle and the religious aspects like the prayer rooms and their beliefs. And most importantly, there are some very good manuscripts in the Hebrew language. The Museum is slightly off the city center but worth a visit. Entrance fee is MAD50.00 and you could easily spend 1hr here. However, on exiting, be prepared to be greeted by the Janitor lady asking to your face for some "sadaqa" aka "donation" and you are obliged to give some!
Shaik M — Google review
The Jewish Museum of Morocco is a historical window into the life of the Jewish community, which was an integral part of the Moroccan social and cultural fabric. Among the treasures on display in the museum is a rich collection of photographs documenting the daily life of Moroccan Jewish communities in various cities and villages. These photographs show minute details of Jewish life in Morocco, such as popular markets, religious rituals, weddings, and even simple family moments. The photographs reflect the traditions and customs that were practiced on a daily basis, showing the diversity of economic and social activities in which Jews participated alongside the rest of the Moroccan population. The photographs are noted for their interest in documenting cultural aspects such as traditional clothing, ornate costumes, and distinctive jewelry that reflects artistic richness. In addition, the photographs highlight the close relationship between Jews and their Muslim neighbors, demonstrating the spirit of coexistence and tolerance that has always characterized Moroccan society

It was a lovely visit, me and my Moroccan friend visited if together on a very hot busy day. So it was nice to wind down and sit in their prayer area, for a few moments to ponder on life and thank God for everything. It was very cool inside, even on a hot day, which made the visit more enjoyable. The museum It has a lot of information on the history and culture of Jews in Morocco. God bless the lady who cares for the museum. She was very kind to us. 🙏

Entry was 50 Dirhams Interesting but Small, i was done in 30 minutes No AC so it is hot

Worth a visit. Said to be the only Jewish museum in Africa. Small, mainly artefacts and photos. It’d be a great bonus to see history telling, such as how Jews came to the land and how they lived with Muslims. There’s a lovely garden. Ticket 50. Winter closes at 5pm (but the lady may shut down the entrance at 4pm)
Summer W — Google review
I loved this museum, it’s not very famous in Casablanca but should be. The historical artifacts are super interesting, definitely worth checking out. The entrance fee is 50dhs which is fine, Wednesday are free for students. I heavily recommend this museum for any history fans.
Nada K — Google review
This is quite a nice place with a nice aura and a very special vibe. I guess I couldn't give more than three stars because of the following: ● There was no guide to give further explanation. We would have welcomed a little more information. We had a lot of questions and we got out with no answers. ● For what we saw, the price is quite unfair for locals. 50Dh/person. I think It would be better I guess if there's a cheap fee for locals and a higher fee for foreigners (like most countries do). It would encourage people to come more often, and even come again to take guests. ● Maybe, the lighting should be revisited because there are some items that are hard to see due to the reflections of different bulmb lights on the windows. Apart from the two above mentioned minor false notes, everything was great. The way the space is arranged and the rooms are organized + the pictures in the corridor showing how it was and who was there and how they lived and taught back then. I loved it. The clothes, the tools, the chandeliers, the jewelry and the lecterns are all very well presented with reference numbers that are quite clear. The study room and the Torah reading space project a true spiritual vibe. And the surrounding garden is just awsome. The way it's arranged and shaped is very cozy. It should be highlighted.
Mounir E — Google review
Experience could have been better if there was a guided tour of the Museum but it has historical photos and items that illustrate the culture of the Moroccan Jewish communities who have lived in Morocco for a long time.

Western restaurant
Rick's Café is a charming and romantic eatery that draws inspiration from the iconic café in the 1942 film "Casablanca." Located in an old courtyard-style mansion against the walls of the Old Medina of Casablanca, this restaurant and piano bar exudes nostalgia with its architectural and decorative details reminiscent of the classic movie.
If you are a fan of the movie Casablanca, then this is the place for you! Cool interior with a great vibe. The food was very good. Decent wine selection. They do have a piano player but he was no Sam.
Melinda W — Google review
Rick’s Café absolutely lives up to its legend. The service was wonderful, friendly, attentive, and relaxed. We arrived late and got lucky with the room nearly to ourselves, which made it feel extra special. The staff let us go upstairs to take photos, and every corner feels like a scene from Casablanca. From the arches and piano to the décor and lighting, they really got the movie details right. The live music tied it all together with soft piano and classic tunes that set the mood. Whether you go for dinner, cocktails, or just the atmosphere, it is a must-visit in Casablanca.
Seth I — Google review
Here’s your English translation: ⸻ Highly Not Recommended The doorman at the entrance was extremely discriminatory toward Asians. Even though we clearly had a reservation, they refused to let us in to confirm and made us wait outside in the wind. The staff’s attitude was arrogant and dismissive once they saw we were Asian, but they warmly welcomed Western-looking guests. Absolutely terrible service. We ordered the three-course set, but honestly, everything tasted bad. The steak was large, but the doneness was poorly controlled—they didn’t even ask how we wanted it cooked, and it came out almost well-done and very dry. The cheese on the side of the salad was also unpleasant—what a pity. The waiters inside the restaurant were enthusiastic, and the interior decor was decent, but the doorman was awful, and the food was nothing special. Definitely will not return.
陳衍德 — Google review
If you're a fan of the movie Casablanca, this place is a must visit. They definitely did a great job at creating that vibe of the Rick's Cafe in the movie, the architecture, the furnishing, the piano player... Reservation is needed and at only a couple of specific time slots. It's an upscale fair and is priced accordingly.
Petra D — Google review
We absolutely loved our dinner here and highly recommend. I thought it would be a little touristy but the food was excellent and interesting and the service was too notch. If you’re looking for a fun, elegant night out I highly recommend.
Alexandra W — Google review
Rick’s Café in Casablanca is a charming spot with beautiful decor, vintage lamps, and a nostalgic atmosphere inspired by the movie Casablanca. The ambiance and service were great, and the food — especially the burrata salad and filet steak — was well-prepared and nicely presented. You’ll need to book online in advance, as it’s a popular restaurant. While it’s definitely worth visiting for the experience and ambiance, I found it a bit overrated compared to the hype.
Dema — Google review
It was great to eat here just be part of movie history. Service great. Had nice wine. Would definitely recommend. So glad got a chance to experience.

Of all the gin joints in all of the towns in the world, this one is a wonderful tribute to Rick's Cafe Americain from the movie. The food and drinks were excellent. I had a premium gin and tonic.

Mahkama of Pacha, also known as Mahkamat al-Pasha, is a stunning Moorish-style government building located in the picturesque Habous district of Casablanca. This architectural masterpiece was built in the early 20th century and served as both a courthouse and an events venue for state occasions.
Fascinating architecture! Woodworking incredible! Tip- hire a local taxi to take you there. They should be able to work it out with the security for a quick look & pic or 2. Give the taxi driver 50DH to give to security for their kindness, allowing you in for a quick look. Be discreet, as it's a government working building. IE- try not to disrupt the workers. Just be respectful & you'll be fine. Enjoy.
Kevin — Google review
In fact, the search settings set by Google will lead you to a dead end without entry. The real building is a guarded government facility. There is no information on visiting hours or whatsoever. The guidebooks emphasize that you can enter it by bribing a paramilitary guard when no one is in the building. It is legally impossible to enter this building (we asked the guard).
Iuliia F — Google review
If you’re lucky, there will be an event, and you can enter; otherwise, you’ll miss this unique space. The stonework is beyond words—truly impressive.
Buurju — Google review
Nothing to see...they won't let you in. Addendum: the following week, a shopkeeper told us 'it's open, go over there'. so off we went, door open, guards there. Not a hint of tickets, no signs of anything, it is a gov't building, unoccupied, on a Sunday. After a tedious predictable discussion, a 200DRM fee was requested. The place is beautiful inside. For a functioning gov't office building it is in very good shape. The patterned ceilings, internal fountain, tiled walls. But not much terribly new to see, and certainly worth tolerating the dubious behavior of guards.
Steven W — Google review
This parliamentary and judicial building, which is also designated to host the most important ceremonies and official events, is one of the most important architectural landmarks in the city, and it is recommended to visit it during Casablanca tourism trips. It may be difficult to enter the government building, which is still in use until this moment since 1952, after 4 years of construction. Because of the daily workflow and time, however, taking pictures of the building from the outside, where the elegant and elegant architectural design is really worth suffering during tourism tours in Casablanca, in the vicinity of the place. If you are lucky enough to visit the building from the inside, you will definitely enjoy watching the white marble columns that distinguish its squares and the cedar wood ceilings that harmonize with their decorations of finely carved plaster and colorful mosaic pieces. .
Yassine A — Google review
I was looking forward to seeing the architecture of this building, but was very disappointed to learn that it is closed to the public. I asked the security guard when I got here and he told me that it is an administrative building for professionals only.
Harjeenna S — Google review

Parks
Arab League Park, originally designed in 1918 by architect Albert Laprade, offers a peaceful 30-acre oasis in the heart of Casablanca. The park features lush gardens, tall palm trees, fountains, and play areas. It is a popular spot for locals to enjoy leisurely strolls and relax amidst the greenery. With its charming cafes and sports facilities, Arab League Park provides an authentic experience of the city while offering ample opportunities for serene walks and picturesque scenery.
A very nice, relaxing place to enjoy the peace and quiet in the shade of a palm tree while the noise of the traffic disappears in the background. You can also lie on the grass and it's a very family-friendly park. There is also a large area with a children's playground and many different corners for all tastes of park visitors. It is one of the very few parks in Casablanca and by far the most beautiful.

Hamza — Google review
A sweet, grand park in Casablanca that goes for two long blocks. Great stroll away from traffic etc. Groups of friends were set up on the lawns for picnics or chats, and there’s a playground with interesting play structures (for kids, though we did go down a tunnel slide!).
Andy A — Google review
🌳💨🚶‍♀️ The walking paths in the park are unpaved, and every time a gust of wind comes through, it kicks up dust that gets all over you. Because of that, we didn’t feel like spending much time here. There is a lot of grassy space to sit and relax, especially under the shade of the trees, which is nice. But just walking around the park leaves you feeling dusty pretty quickly. The Church of Notre Dame of Lourdes is a modern Catholic church in Casablanca, Morocco, built in 1954. It stands out for its striking stained-glass windows designed by the renowned French artist Gabriel Loire. As one of only two Catholic churches in the city, it's a must-see attraction and a rare sight in a predominantly Muslim country.
Otherworldly. Even without the stained glass the architecture is really impressive and very refreshing when compared to the usual cathedral styles. But the stained glass is unbelievable. Just stunning
Safwan C — Google review
Lovely church with beautiful stained glass windows.. not much else to see there so expect just to spend 10 mins looking around
Marco C — Google review
Beautiful church, surprised by the modern style. The stained glass was stunning, both around the chapel and in the vaulted ceiling, hard to believe the time it was constructed, quite ahead of its time.
Andy A — Google review
Impressive church designed by architect Achille Dangleterre, engineer Gaston Zimmer and stained glass artist Gabriel Loire (1954-56). The church has three naves, but it is the central nave, with its super tall ceiling that defines it. All around it, stained glass windows let colorful light rays enter it and lighten and humanize an otherwise austere and industrial bare concrete scale. Outside there is a devotional grotto for Our Lady of Immaculate Conception.

Theme park
Parc Sindibad is a captivating adventure park nestled in the vibrant Ain Diab area of Casablanca. Spanning an impressive 32 hectares, this unique destination features three distinct zones: an amusement park filled with exhilarating rides, a zoo showcasing diverse African and Asian wildlife, and a serene forest recreational area. With over 20 thrilling attractions and more than thirty animal species to discover, visitors can enjoy everything from heart-pounding roller coasters to leisurely strolls through beautifully landscaped gardens.
I recently visited Parc Sindibad, and overall, it was a delightful experience, especially if you’re visiting with kids. The park itself is well-maintained and offers plenty of attractions and activities, making it an ideal destination for families with children. What truly stood out, however, was the zoo! It was incredible and featured some of the most unique animals I’ve ever seen. For the first time in my life, I saw a majestic white tiger, which was absolutely breathtaking. The peacocks freely roaming around added a vibrant charm to the experience, and their striking colors were a real treat to see up close. The petting zoo was another highlight, allowing visitors to interact with friendly animals, which kids particularly loved. While the park’s main focus seems to cater more to children, the zoo is worth a visit for people of all ages. It’s a fantastic place to spend a day outdoors, and I’d highly recommend it, especially if you’re an animal lover.
Fabian G — Google review
We really enjoyed our stay in the park with the kids. Yes, the park is not in perfect condition and of course everything can be improved. But the price is very reasonable (around 7 euros for a ticket to the main attractions and the zoo), stroller rental is 1.5 euros. The markup on food is not big, the food is very tasty. There are many nice areas for photo shoots. The staff is very nice and pleasant, thank you very much to all the employees. There is a little confusion with the bracelets, for some reason they are a different color than in the picture and on the website. It turns out that with the simplest bracelet you can ride the rides once. But this did not spoil the impression
Iaroslava S — Google review
Nice park. I've spent the day there with my family; my little sister enjoyed spending the day there. However, we couldn't find where to eat. There are only two little restaurants, and they are full; you need to wait for one or two hours to get your order, and it's forbidden to bring food from outside.
Abderrazak Z — Google review
It's a wonderful park here in Casa. However they have to start a full renovation of the park and the games.
Abdelkarim A — Google review
This is the definition of a poor theme park. Once past the main entrance it looks a mess. During my visit, at least half the rides & attractions were closed. The main rollercoaster looked like it hadn't operated in months. Nothing on the website to inform me of this before my visit... I was inside the park for less than an hour!! Only positive & the reason I'm not giving one star was the staff member on the gate, he was fantastic, plus being from England where everything is expensive, here it's only £7 to get in
Mark — Google review
A beautiful parc with a variation of choices of games and food, ideal for spending a beautiful day between friends of even family, preferably going there early in the morning to benefit form ur day. The game i liked the most is « le serpent » and if other games weren’t off work it would’ve been a perfect experience and i guess they will be fixed soon as we got told❤️
Wiam A — Google review
I went there, four people, so much fun, really recommend, the only downside is the long wait, but that wasn't a problem because we had VIP bracelets, and the food price, it was pretty good but also a bit expensive, like double the price outside. Note: it's preferable to wear sneakers, I had a hard time with sandales and even had to borrow my cousin's shoes to ride the Zipline.

It was an alright experience. Could've been better. What we didn't like: 1 - Toilets need urgent maintenance. I entered the toilet, only to find one with missing door, and the other have a door, but no light. 2 - The mini zoo is a bit short of animals. One section had a bug dead fish. 3 - We purchased VIP bracelets, but not all games have a separate VIP line. Instead you need to wait at the exit door of each game, so that they let you in first. What we liked: 1 - Good games for every age (More games to be added) 2 - We get a price reduction because we purchased bracelets online.

The Royal Palace in Casablanca is a stunning example of Islamic architecture, showcasing richly-decorated arches and doors on its main facade. Although visitors can only admire the exterior, the palace's exceptional design makes it a worthwhile stop, especially when combined with nearby attractions like Quartier Habous and Mahkama du Pacha palace.
The Royal Palace in Casablanca is a true masterpiece of Moroccan architecture. Though entry is forbidden, its grandeur from the outside is awe-inspiring, showcasing intricate designs and stunning craftsmanship. Located near the Habous neighborhood, it adds a mythical charm to the area. A must-see for anyone appreciating Morocco’s rich history and architectural beauty.

Ismail B — Google review
It is forbidden to visit or enter the place The Royal Palace in Casablanca is the main royal residence of the King of Morocco, which is located in the city of Casablanca, the economic capital of the Kingdom of Morocco. Located in the Habous district, this royal palace was built in the 1920s to a design by the brothers Louis Paul and Felix Joseph Bertosio, with garden landscapes designed by Jean-Claude Nicolas Forestier. This royal palace was renovated during the reign of King Hassan II by French designer Andre Packard. The Royal Palace in Casablanca is considered the second most prominent royal site in Morocco after the Royal Palace in Rabat. It has been the site of many important events, as it hosted, for example but not limited to, the Fourth Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in 1984. It was also the site of Hassan II’s meeting with Pope John Paul II. In 1985, it was the first time that a Pope visited a Muslim country at the invitation of an Islamic leader. It is worth noting here that this royal palace is not open to the public

The Abderrahman Slaoui Foundation Museum, named after the late Moroccan businessman and art collector, is a cultural museum founded in 2012. It houses a privately collected assortment of paintings, posters, jewelry, and other objects that showcase Morocco's artistic traditions. The museum's extensive collection reflects Slaoui's lifelong passion for preserving the country's heritage. Visitors can explore diverse artifacts including figurative paintings by renowned Moroccan artists and ornate gold jewelry.
I visited the Slaoui’s Museum and it was a great experience. The museum has a nice collection of art and artifacts, and the atmosphere is calm and inviting👏🏻 I was particularly amazed by a stunning painting 🖼️ that really caught my attention. Definitely worth checking out for art lovers.

I can confidently say that this is my favorite museum in Casablanca. It is located in the heart of the city, various, perfectly organized. It has a permanent exhibition in the main floor along with a temporary in the top floor. I've been here twice and wouldn't hesitate to come again.
Yachou — Google review
This private collection is quite unique in the combination of exhibits brought together to form this museum. It showcases antique jewellery & antique posters, but my favourite section was the 19th century bohemian crystal boxes. I would give this place 5 stars, but all the information boards are only in Arabic & French. I think if they want to appeal to a wider international audience, they need the information in English also. Yes, there is a QR code to get an overview via an English audio description, but it's not the same, and not everyone will have a SiM card to access this or want to use up their phone battery.

I went there 26/03/2025 This is a musem that was based by Abderrahman Slaoui, Moroccan businessman and collector. Good place to visit to understand the beauty of Moroccan & Arabic cultures. Especially I love posters. NOTE: *There is a gift shop there. You can buy the copies of posters, books, bags with prints, post cards. *There is a WC. *There are places to sead down if you are tired. *Affordable prices for tickets.

Nice compact museum over 3 floors in a private villa. Clean, well displayed and guidance in 3.lang. the posters and history of the collection are very intriguing. Recommended!
Markushu C — Google review
This eclectic and charming private collection stole our hearts. We appreciated being thoughtfully welcomed in English by the impressively multi-lingual staff, and being offered a collection guide printed in English, as the permanent exhibition signage is in French and Arabic. The size of the permanent collection on the first and second floors, combined with a temporary exhibition on the third allows you to thoroughly experience everything without becoming fatigued as is often the case in larger museums. We were especially fond of the vintage posters in the collection and were therefore delighted to learn we could purchase postcards containing the images as well as quality art books featuring the same. A highly recommended experience in Casablanca for lovers of arts and crafts.

For tourists best to avoid rush hours mid day and late hours at night, don’t make it a stop station, there isn’t much to see anyways, if you come by “Bab Merrakech” (just few meters away from west) you can just pass by and go to Maarif, which I think you can spend the evening there and it will be much pleasant

Catholic cathedral
Sacred Heart Cathedral, also known as the Church of Sacred Heart, is a grand former Roman Catholic cathedral in Casablanca, Morocco. Built in 1930 by French architect Paul Tournon in neo-Gothic style, it was intended to serve the city's Catholic community during the French protectorate era. However, after Morocco gained independence in 1956, it ceased its religious functions and was transformed into a cultural center.
Stepping into Sacred Heart Cathedral felt like walking into a dream—calm, serene, and absolutely breathtaking! The mix of Art Deco and Neo-Gothic architecture had me feeling like I was in a movie scene, and the stained-glass windows? Absolutely mesmerizing. Of course, I had to bring my own flair to the moment—dressed in bold red and black, standing against the crisp white walls of the cathedral. A contrast fit for a masterpiece! Whether you're here for history, photography, or just to enjoy a peaceful escape in the city, this place is a must-visit. P.S. If you go, take a moment to just stand in the center, soak in the beauty, and maybe even strike a pose—because this backdrop deserves it! 10/10—Would definitely recommend!

I walked around and ventured up the stairs but could not visit the balcony. The gardens surrounding the cathedral are beautiful and I was very happy to have visited this great historical building.

Ismail B — Google review
Beautiful piece of architecture designed by Paul Tournon and finished in 1931. The impressive scale (and height), its vertical lines, the details, the gothic references, is an unexpected surprise. Its immaculate whiteness inside is only interrupted by the strained glass light, giving it a very airy and celestial ambience. Unfortunately, the church was desacralized in 1951, and was used as a cultural event venue since. Inside, there is a whole element that was clearly built afterwards. This could easily be used as an interpretative center of the building. Although devoid of a regular function, it is kept open. Beware that the building closed at 19h at the time I visited.

The square is clean, spacious, and surrounded by gorgeous colonial architecture that makes you wonder if you’ve accidentally walked into a movie set. The fountains put on a decent water show (especially in the evening), and the vibe is pretty chill—perfect for people-watching, photoshoots, or pretending you're deep in thought while munching on street snacks. Gorgeous synagogue. Probably the most stunning one I have ever been to (which is a lot considering I’m a Jew that studies Middle eastern Judaism). The one thing is that you must “prove to be Jewish” which unfortunately in a colonized/imperialized country like Morocco (even after 1400 years of Moroccan Arab Judaism) means that you are Ashkenazi (European Jewish and American.) when the head guide say my passport I was allowed in but the grounds manager who is probably illiterate anyway gave me hard time considering he didn’t know my last name is Jewish and by virtue of being brown, suspect. Anyway major Casablanca and Morocco highlight!

The Hassan II Mosque is a breathtaking architectural marvel that graces the waterfront of Casablanca, partially constructed on reclaimed land over the ocean, symbolizing the belief that God's throne rests upon water. This magnificent structure took six years to complete with the dedication of 12,000 workers. As you approach, you'll be awestruck by its sheer scale—standing before one of its colossal doors and gazing up at the towering minaret that reaches an impressive height of 210 meters.
Truly beautiful and awe-inspiring building. I love that the guided tours are included because it sets a good pace and gives context to everything you see. The artwork and architectural details are enough to leave you with your mouth open; not to mention the scale of it all. Very well worth a visit if you’re in Casablanca.

I visited the Hassan II Mosque as part of my tour, and it was truly breathtaking. I was fascinated by the stunning architecture and the intricate artwork on the wood and tiles — an incredible masterpiece that beautifully reflects Moroccan craftsmanship and culture. There are two types of passes available: one for visiting only the museum, and another that includes both the mosque and the museum, with combined tours starting at the beginning of every hour.

Amazing Mosque. 3rd biggest in the world and extremely beautiful.. I must if you are in Cassablanca and Definatly a highlight.. There is a free tour every hour and it’s worth it as they will take you downstairs to where they wash themselves and it’s huge !
Marco C — Google review
The mosque itself is absolutely stunning — a true architectural masterpiece that easily deserves 5 stars. The atmosphere, the design, and the spiritual beauty of the place are breathtaking. It’s definitely worth visiting. However, everything related to the organization and the tour was a complete disappointment — if I could, I’d give it minus one star. From the moment of buying the ticket, to gathering the group, to the actual tour itself, everything felt chaotic and poorly managed. The tour guide was the biggest letdown. He didn’t provide any valuable or even basic information about the mosque — no history, no explanation of the architecture, nothing educational at all. Instead, he spent the time joking around, asking people things like “Are you from Germany? Deutschland? Dutch? Haha!” — which felt completely out of place in such a sacred and serene setting. It was honestly uncomfortable and a bit disrespectful. A mosque is not a comedy stage, and visitors expect to learn and appreciate the cultural and spiritual importance of the place, not to be entertained with random jokes. Overall, the mosque itself: 5/5, but the tour and organization: 0/5. It’s a must-see place, but sadly, not a well-managed experience

Al-Qods Mosque, located in the Roches Noires neighborhood of Casablanca, Morocco, is a unique landmark with a fascinating history. Originally built as a Neo-Gothic style church called Eglise de Sainte Marguerite by Eugene Lendrat, it was later transformed into a mosque after Morocco's independence. This conversion was initiated by King Hassan II and the mosque is now known for its Gothic architectural elements.

Man this takes me back, I used to play in the garden behind this mosque with my sister when we were children, it's been a solid 10+ years since the last time I stepped foot in it but still, I'm only 22 now but it's a beautiful nostalgic place I hold dear to me

Church changed into a mosque in Roche noire, Casablanca. It is very interesting to find a mosque with a "church" Architectural design.
Abderrahman J — Google review
I lived right next to it and I am so sad this was converted into a mosque. I completely understand how much a mosque means to muslims but I also think this is disrespectful for a chruch to be converted into a mosque. There are still many christians in Casablanca and many of them are African immigrants who deserve to have a great place of worship. I would have preferred if they restored it as a church instead of converting it into a mosque. Most of the churches in Casablanca are now becoming either mosques, cultural centers, or art galleries, which is so sad.

Muhammadi Mosque, a stunning neo-Moorish complex in Casablanca's Quartier Habous, was completed in 1936 under the direction of Mohammed V. Designed by Auguste Cadet, this architectural gem features an intricately carved minaret and a colonnaded prayer hall that can accommodate up to 6,000 worshippers. The mosque's irregular plan includes seven horseshoe-arched doorways on three facades.
Al-Mohammadi Mosque (Arabic: مسجد المحمدي)[1] is a large mosque in the Habous quarter of Casablanca, Morocco. It was built circa 1935 and its construction was sponsored by Sultan Mohammed V, after whom it is named. Construction on the mosque started on 30 June 1934.It was designed by architects Auguste Cadet Cadet, along with Edmond Brion, was implicated in the design of other buildings in the Habous quarter, including the nearby al-Yusufi Mosque (or Moulay Youssef Mosque) The sultan visited the construction site in August 1934 while work was being supervised by architects Abad and Ben Omar.[4] The mosque was officially inaugurated on 12 June 1936, in the presence of Mohammed V.[ The mosque underwent a major restoration in 2007. The building covers an area of around 3,600 m2 (39,000 sq ft) and it can accommodate up to 6000 or 8000 worshippers. Its design references traditional Moroccan Islamic architecture; the minaret is modeled on the minaret of the Kutubiyya Mosque in Marrakesh and the courtyard is modeled on the Qarawiyyin Mosque in Fes.

It’s sad to see the industry of cinema fade away in Morocco, Rialto is a magnificent cinema which had to be closed for several reasons including lack of clients
Hamza N — Google review
This is a beautiful piece of architecture. The facade looks really old and not properly take care off. But, that’s the good thing because it really feels very authentic. We didn’t go inside the cinema because we were not sure if they’re dubbed/subtitled in English but they were showing some Arabic movie. The entrance of the cinema is also beautiful and really a time machine back!

Dar el Makhzen, a former sultan's palace turned museum of Moroccan antiques, is situated in the picturesque hillside medina. This royal residence is part of a network of similar palaces across Morocco. The nearby American Legation Museum, housed in an 1821 Moorish-style building, offers insights into early diplomatic relations between the United States and Morocco. Visitors can enjoy secure daytime shopping and evening strolls around this historical area.
Very short walk from casa port very nice historical building!
Virginia L — Google review
The Masjid Dar al‑Makhzan (literally “Palace Mosque”) was built in 1786 by Sultan Mohammed bin Abdellah beside the original royal residence (Dar al‑Makhzan) in Casablanca’s old medina near Sidi Bousmara’s shrine . It was the first significant mosque in the city’s historic quarter, covering approximately 1,783 m², and later expanded during Sultan Moulay Hassan I’s reign in the late 1800s to nearly 3,866 m², with a rebuilt minaret to accommodate a growing population . Over centuries, it has been a focal point for spiritual life, hosting Friday congregational prayers and symbolizing Casablanca’s formal urban beginnings. Community efforts have preserved its architectural identity, though periodic closures for structural repairs especially after concerns over ceiling crack highlight its fragile heritage status . This mosque remains an evocative living landmark of late 18th‑century Moroccan religious and civic architecture, deeply woven into the fabric of the old city’s history and social life.

The Grand Theater of Casablanca is still waiting for its inaugural. It was planned to open in June 2018; then delayed until September 2018; and then till the end of 2018. Unfortunately, there is no opening ceremony in sight. Probably, it will open by the summer of 2019 as there is still a lot of work needs to be done including the finishing touches. The opening is not yet scheduled nor the inaugural show or performance. There is no word on the programs from the management. The construction on this mega project started in 2014 and is entering into its 5th year. It has almost cost 1.5 billion Dirham already and this is not the final cost yet. The main theater would accommodate 1,800 people; plus an auditorium will cater for 600 people; and another hall to accommodate small gatherings up to about 300 people. The historic water fountain or 'place de pigeons' (the Pigeons Square) has been erased and the new one is constructed on the new location in front of the Tribunal (court house). It is working already and the visitors are enjoying the dancing water in the company of the pigeons. It's a great place to spend the afternoon in peace and sunshine. At night, there is a display of multi-color lights that makes the entire square charming.
