Parque Los Fundadores, also known as Founding Fathers Park, is a vibrant seaside park in Playa del Carmen that serves as a meeting point for tourists and locals. The park features traditional Mayan dance performances and cultural shows every afternoon, showcasing the rich Mexican and Mayan heritage. It is home to the famous Mayan Portal, symbolizing the new cycle predicted by the Mayas in their calendar.
Parque de Fundadores is a must-visit when you’re in Playa del Carmen! It’s a great spot to chill, surrounded by shops, bars, and restaurants, and it’s right by the ferry to Cozumel. The vibe here is lively, with street performers, live music, and a beautiful beachfront view. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend setting aside time to visit Cozumel—it has some of the prettiest, clearest beaches, way less crowded than Playa del Carmen. Whether you’re shopping, grabbing a drink, or just soaking in the atmosphere, this spot needs to be on your Playa del Carmen itinerary!

Beautiful place to just sit and feel the ocean breeze!!!! There is a beautiful shopping center not too far from the beach as well!!!

Good spot to hang out after walking 5th Ave. Lots of places to eat around the area. Good place to meet locals and tourists. Busy during the sunset time's.
Expeditionsolo L — Google review
For my first time visiting this place I was very disappointed. Bathrooms were very dirty. Streets were dirty. It was very busy a lot of locals & tourists. The locals didn’t seem very pleasant at stores or parking lots. The beach wasn’t as clean as I thought it would be. The only pleasant part of this area was the shopping mall . It was nice and bathroom were cleaner. I don’t think I will visit this place again or recommend it to my friends.

Very nice place to visit especially when the Mayans do the show

A Picture-Perfect Location with a Touch of Culture If you're looking for a picturesque spot in Playa del Carmen, Parque los Fundadores is a must-visit. The beach offers stunning views with its turquoise crystalline waters—perfect for snapping those Instagram-worthy photos. Whether you’re just strolling along the shore or lounging in the sand, the beauty of the place will leave you in awe. In the late afternoon and evening, you can also enjoy a cultural experience with native Mexican shows. It adds a unique touch to the already relaxing atmosphere, combining natural beauty with local traditions. Whether you're there to capture memories or to soak in some authentic culture, Parque los Fundadores delivers on both fronts.
Eric O — Google review
The beach is being raked and kept clean daily of sargasso. There are regular short enactments here around the arch for everyone to enjoy. This is also an easy access point to the public beach areas.

I recently visited Parque Los Fundadores in Playa del Carmen, and I was impressed by this beautiful park. Beautiful Grounds: The park's lush gardens, walking paths, and tranquil atmosphere make it a perfect spot to relax and unwind. Not to mention the beautiful beach!! Volleyball nets are an another way to spend the day there. Nuestra Senora del Carmen Church is used for many wedding and church services. On Sundays you will see a line of people out of the church. It is a pretty iconic building in Playa with the clear blue ocean in the background Iconic Arch: The park's iconic arch, a replica of the original entrance to Playa del Carmen. It’s named Portal Maya 2012 m, It celebrates the Mayan calendar. The sculpture was designed by artist Arturo Taravez who is from Guanajuato, Mexico. The sculpture is 16 meters high or about 52 feet high and its truly is a great spot for photos. Cultural Events: The park often hosts cultural events, concerts, and festivals, which showcase the local community's vibrant spirit. We were able to watch the Danza de los Voladores and the humul dancers both shows were beautiful! Amenities Restrooms: Clean and well-maintained restrooms are available throughout the park. Food and Drink: Various food and drink vendors are available, offering a range of local cuisine and refreshments. Plus you’re on Quinta Avenida and it’s full of restaurants and quick grab and go places. Seating: Plenty of benches and seating areas are available, making it easy to take a break and enjoy the surroundings. But watch your step! Tips and Recommendations: Visit in the Evening: The park takes on a magical atmosphere in the evening, with beautiful lighting and live music. They have lots of entertainment in the evenings. It’s quite lively!! Bring a Camera: The park's scenic views, iconic arch, and cultural events make it a photographer's paradise. Check the Events Calendar: Plan your visit around cultural events, concerts, or festivals to experience the atmosphere! Parque Los Fundador- is a must-visit destination in Playa del Carmen.

La Quinta Avenida in Playa del Carmen is a vibrant and bustling pedestrian street lined with cobbled stones, offering an eclectic mix of well-known brand stores, spas, restaurants, bars, pharmacies, and craft shops. This atmospheric avenue exudes a cosmopolitan and tropical vibe while maintaining an authentic Mexican charm. It's a top attraction in the town, located just one block from the golden shores.
This place was amazing and beautiful! Great shopping! Close to the water with great views! Definitely a place to come visit while in Cancun area!

Great place to go while in Playa Del Carmen, food is great, a variety of stores to get local souvenirs!
Wilson G — Google review
Great to visit once! But everything is so expensive and mediocre, much better to walk away from there and enjoy the little places which are much better quality and value for money!
Kyle T — Google review
Even though it's not peak season it's still busy but without feeling wall to wall with people which is great if not more comfortable. However this I suspect gives the sellers more opportunities to be bit pushy which I understand but still not a great fan of. Quite a few of the shops sell the same things so don't get sold on things being handmade (some probably were handmade just not likely done by seller). The food in the area is great. Overall an ok experience
Jerone E — Google review
This is a really dynamic place. Lots of different restaurants, shops, entertainment, etc. It’s worth visiting, very safe, always lots to see, and some brands you would recognize like Starbucks. Very much American like, pricing is also a bit more expensive than elsewhere in the city. All the foods are very safe to eat, all the drinks are very safe to drink, some restaurants offer very good specials, others offer a very amazing experience. One downside, I wish the city would finally clean up the problem with the drug dealers on every street corner, trying to sell to families with little children, seniors, minors, and anyone else that passes them by. I don’t know why there’s not a recognition of the problem and how much this turns tourism off. It’s not like they’re concealed, it’s not like they’re hiding anything, anyone walking by will be asked, in one day, the authorities could clean this problem up if they wanted to. It’s the only stain on otherwise amazing experience in PDC.
W M — Google review
This is a huge pedestrian mall, and probably a "must experience" Playa del Carmen thing, made 100% for tourists, with lots of gimmicky kitsch, vendors all calling you their best friend, bars and clubs, with luxury goods in one section. It was fun briefly, and I had some amazing spicy Mayan drinking chocolate, but any more interesting art or culture is hidden elsewhere. If you like malls, you might love this space. Otherwise, go for a short visit just to have the experience.
Les H — Google review
Busy, busy busy. Loads of locals giving you the hard sell for everything. Go out for breakfast and they still try to sell you tequila (free shots) and cigars. Would have loved one of them to offer some pancakes and a coffee as it was 0830.

We visited fifth Av. as a resort trip, even if we could do it for free because it was included in our all inclusive package. The only reason was they went at 11:00 am till 3:00 pm. We decided to go at 5:00 pm till 9:00 pm. It was a little bit cooler and more pleasant to walk around. Would recommend, nice to see.

When exploring the underwater wonders of Playa del Carmen, don't miss out on Rio Secreto. This attraction offers a perfect blend of entertainment and learning, much like Xel-Ha and Xcaret. Río Secreto offers an adventurous experience for nature enthusiasts. Visitors can embark on a journey through the underground river, marveling at the stunning stalactites and stalagmites while hiking and swimming in the turquoise waters. The excursion begins with a bike ride through the lush jungle, followed by a captivating hike through caverns adorned with bats and rock formations. With knowledgeable guides leading the way, visitors can rappel into the fresh water to explore this hidden subterranean world.
My husband and I had a lot of fun doing private tour here with Benito and Pato. Benito our tour guide was very knowledgeable and made our adventure feel safe and fun. Pato our photographer ensured that all the lightings were perfect to get that amazing shot ! Thank you both for the unforgettable experience, and if anyone wants to try I highly recommend it. Oh and the bathroom is very clean (I was expecting a porta potty situation but no it even smell nice and clean too. Big big plus)
Lena Y — Google review
Secreto Rio was such a very cool experience. The underground cave system (not a cenote!) is absolutely stunning, and the whole adventure feels peaceful, magical, and well organized. Our guide was very nice and knowledgeable. The underground river and cave areas were very unique. The only downside (and why I didn’t give a full 5 stars) is that no cameras are allowed, and the photo package they sell is quite expensive. It’s a bit disappointing since you want to capture those memories, but it still doesn’t take away from how incredible the place is overall. The meal at the end was delicious too. Definitely worth visiting!
Sam M — Google review
I loved visiting the Rio Secreto. Our tour guide, Ana was very knowledgeable and very helpful. She took a member of my party through the caves that was afraid to swim, giving her and us the experience of a lifetime. The cave itself is a fantastic journey. You wade, walk and swim through beautiful limestone caverns. We bought the picture package to remember the experience and it was worth it. A professional photographer followed us through and took several amazing action shots. I would love to visit Rio Secreto again, and try one of the other packages.

A hidden gem. This experience is a life-changing event. The natural wonder that is this cave and underground river are demonstrated beautifully by the wonderful team of tour guides, staff, and photographers. Shout out to Pato our photographer for taking his time to curate perfect romantic pictures of me and my wife. He truly went above and beyond to make our trip memorable. The beauty of the cave leaves one speechless. I can not put together enough adjectives to describe how mesmerizing. 11/10 recommend.
Juan V — Google review
This was an amazing journey through the underground river system. We waded, walked, and swam through the cool, very clear water. The cave is beautiful, and we've toured many caves in North America. We loved our guide, Alfredo! He made our day even better. He's friendly and super knowledgeable. We were the first group of the day through the cave, so everything was undisturbed. I opted for a wetsuit - not sure that I really needed it, but I didn't get hot wearing it. Lunch was great!! Alfredo told us that the pork was fantastic, and he was right! The lime dessert was pretty YUM too! We also did the ziplines and rappel, both of which we've done numerous times - so no big thrill, but we had fun yelling our favorite foods. So glad Alfredo joined right in with our crazy group. Everyone we met in the park (lunch/store/check-in/drivers.....) was friendly and welcoming. I did 4 stars instead of 5 just because the photos are so expensive and you cannot bring your own camera. I understand why, but please make the photos more affordable so that everyone can save these memories forever. I had called to ask a few questions before booking and was told that the photos would be between $20 - $100, but after reading some reviews, I expected $120 - $130 for groups. Ours were $150. None were great, but they were good and we did get a lot.

Rio Secreto was hands down the highlight of my trip to Mexico! It’s honestly one of the most beautiful and surreal places I’ve ever seen. Walking and swimming through the crystal clear caves felt otherworldly. Our guide Gustavo was amazing, funny, patient, and made the experience feel really special. The photographs turned out fantastic I will just share a couple here. If you do one excursion while you’re in Mexico, make it this one. You won’t regret it.
S P — Google review
This is a must-do adventure. We had the opportunity to do this as an excursion on MSC, and it was absolutely worth the money. The tour guides were hilarious, Sophia told us that the 30 minute drive on the unpaved road was our "Mayan Massage." When we got to the changing area, they gave us free lockers to hold all of our belongings. They gave us 2mm shorty wetsuits to wear, durable water shoes, and a helmet with a light. Everything seemed clean and sanitized. (You WANT to wear the wetsuit. The water in only 70 degrees, so even with the wetsuit, I was shivering by 1.25 hours.) Take the stick they provide. They say it's for people with mobility issues, but even I could have used it. The walk to the cave was beautiful. We got to participate in a Mayan ritual to bless our entrance to the cave. Very moving and enjoyable. Hugo was our tour guide. He was very friendly, very educated about the formations and caving, and strong enough to help us up, over, or onto difficult parts of the path. My favorite part was swimming in the crystal clear water with all the beautiful formations above us. My next favorite was when we were in a super deep area and Hugo had us all turn out our headlamps. It was pitch black!! Then, he said, "who wants to play the best game of marco-polo ever?!" We all cracked up!! The pictures are expensive, but worth it. I never could have taken those pictures myself. Hugo used his fancy flashlight to light the water and the photographer had a special flash. I'm very grateful the photographer was there. My legs were very sore the next day. (crouching down to walk through tiny tunnels and taking huge steps up and across formations.) And I had an impressive bruise from slipping in one spot. This is NOT for people with mobility issues.
A M — Google review
The caves were so beautiful and our guide Felipe clearly loved his job and even answered my son’s million questions with pleasure. The food at the end was so-so. But the overall experience is so worth it, it’s a wonder of nature!

We had a great time. All the activities are great. The food was great we got there super early so the entering process was very quick. Recomended doing the most popular activities first or while everyone is at lunch. The only thing was we bought the picture package but we did not receive all our pictures. We got sent pictures of people we did not go with, so we are try to see if we can receive the pictures that we bought but we're not sent. Apart from that can't wait to go back but at night ☺️👍🏽

This was an amazing adventure! XPLOR FUEGO 🔥 So glad we got good weather, and it wasn’t packed. We booked with the resort which made things so much easier. We paid up front which was a reasonable price for two people. We got shuttles there and back. The travel time was not long. It was about 1 hour there, and 1 hour back. There is a locker included in the pricing as well. TIPS: Bring a backpack, water shoes, waterproof phone case, change of clothes, and towels. Bring money for souvenirs, snacks, and etc. We had 2 snacks, buffet, and drinks included. The tamales: chicken/pork both so delicious 🤤. The lemonade was some of the best I’ve tried, and the other beverages from others input were flavorful as well. Getting started the waters are a little chilly when doing the night adventures. The hand rafting was fun, and a little tiresome. You’re likely to bump into spots but make for some fun. Swimming through the tunneled areas was dark a times, but totally safe. Reminder: there are bats around so make sure to duck. There are about 8-9 zip lines that go back to back each level getting higher. You can do zip lines with a partner or solo. Also very safe, and I commend the staff makes sure everyone is safe and having a good time. They all explained everything in great detail, and offer English or Spanish instructions. They made sure we were safely secured for each activity. They were able to accommodate everyone’s needs. The ATV/ cart ride was so much fun. They have 4 to a car, and 1 person is DD. The terrain is very bumps, and a little dirty. Everything here was so much fun, and I would highly recommend this activity the next time you’re in the area. You won’t regret it! ** There is lots of walking, and can get slippery. So make sure your water shoes are durable, and you walk with caution. Lastly the night time one I enjoyed. It was comfortable waiting in line without the sun blaring on you since the lines don’t have much shade to wait in. The cooler weather was great. It was pretty dark throughout the park so be vigilant.
Priscilla C — Google review
My friends and I booked in advance to take advantage of the discount. We were lucky that it was rainy, so we didn't get sunburn or need sunscreen, but we didn't get to do all the activities as they were full (amphibious vehicles and river rafting). Some lines were longer than others, but we still had a good time. The food at the restaurant was terrific, and you could eat as much as you wanted. The staff at the park were friendly & amazing. The only suggestion I have is that the helmet needs to be cleaned as they smelled sweaty, some more than others. If you're going, wear a bonnet or a swim cap. Prices are expensive, so consider purchasing a waterproof phone pouch before your visit. It may not be necessary, as you should not have anything on you for most activities (park rules). However, I would advise that you take the photo package; it's worth it.
Odelinda B — Google review
Great family experience! Bring good water shoes, I saw many people walking around missing one or both shoes, from the water rides. Our family of 5 had a blast, the youngest was 9, so there was some tandem zip lines so he wouldn't get stuck. The water slide was 1.5-hours most of the day, so we skipped that. Arrive early, play hard, have an early lunch, play hard, then enjoy one last meal before you leave.
JP R — Google review
We had a wonderful time! Yes it was very hot but food and drinks were included all day so you could rehydrate or recharge at any time. Be advised that there is a lot of long distance walking to get to different areas of the park. Water shoes and a helmet must be worn at all times. A waterproof phone pouch is nice to have but it can’t be taken on certain attractions so you can store it in the locker with other valuables if you choose to.

Best trip eva!!! This is like universal studios Mexican style! Part of the Xcaret adventure parks! Must do.. buy ahead of time at least 15 days to avail discount. Buy photo package alongside transportation service! It will save u at least 20 to 50 dollars if book ahead of time. Do the Toboganxotw first, then under ground. U can do the water raft last.it will test your patience!!! And your marriage. Lol. The amphibian vehicles and ziplines ar3 exhilarating!!! Must do in Cancun. They willl not let u take go pro on tobagonxote for safety issues. Group of 4 with weight limit ;) so u may wait til your group has the right weight limit. Have fun and keep.running and riding!!!!!! Try Xplor Fuego too. But pay extra

Xplor Park in Playa del Carmen was an absolute blast! From start to finish, it’s non-stop adventure. Zipping through zip lines, exploring underground rivers, and driving amphibious vehicles—it keeps your adrenaline pumping the whole time. The staff is friendly, the setup is seamless, and every activity is just pure fun. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an unforgettable adventure!

Mamita's Beach Club is a popular spot in Playa del Carmen, known for its trendy atmosphere and variety of offerings. It's a great place to relax on the beach with a cocktail in hand while enjoying international dishes. The club provides beach loungers, evening DJ sets, and even has a pool for visitors to enjoy. It's recommended to reserve a chair with an umbrella to escape the intense Mexican sun while sipping on drinks throughout the day.
Best Beach we found during seaweed season! Everywhere else had very thick seaweed, but this place kept it cleaned up as much as they could. Abraham was our waiter and he was great! Good food and lots of sun!

The beach itself is beautiful and the food tastes good, but overall I found everything overpriced for the value. Customer service is not great either, and they automatically expect a 20% tip. If you don’t pay it, the next day you may find yourself ignored. On one occasion, I asked the food service team to help us move away from a loud local band that had set up right next to us. The staff was dismissive and told me to speak to the manager. Instead of listening to my concern, the manager interrupted me several times, insisting her team is always helpful and “it cannot be.” Such a defensive attitude isn’t what you’d expect from someone managing customer service—patience and listening should come first. I still visit daily because my Airbnb provides access to Mamitas, but I now avoid ordering anything here and prefer bringing food and drinks from other nearby places. Hopefully this helps other travelers make an informed choice.

We come almost every year to Playa and spend the day at Mamitas. We wanna thank Luis, Juan, Eric and Alvaro for the Top Service! Food in good quality and drinks are really good. We paid 1300 for the chair (if you pay cash its 100 pesos discount) and consumation is 1000. You pay what is above 1000 + Propina pf course. I recommend to book a chair more behind, due to the Local people that spent a beach day, privat in front. Can get crowdy. But there is always Party for sure!

Nice beach club, very good service. We paid a $2100 peso fee for 2 ppl, then got $1700 peso food credit! Nice pool, but loud music, nice place on beach.

an absolute dream of a beach club! I am already trying to plan a trip back. Service was so quick, the food and drinks were amazing! We were in Playa del Carmen 4 days and went to Mamitas Beach Club 2 of the full days!
Hannah S — Google review
We recently visited Mamitas Beach Club in Playa Del Carmen and had an enjoyable experience overall. First, we paid a 2100-peso cover charge for 2 people, which came with two lounge chairs and an umbrella, and the use of their pool. The entrance fee included a 1700-peso credit for food and drinks. Additionally, there was a 120-peso charge for two towels.. The facility itself is very nice—clean, modern, and well-maintained. Since we visited during the low season, the beach club wasn’t crowded, allowing us to enjoy a more relaxed atmosphere. The highlight of our visit was the excellent service provided by Jorge, our waiter. He was attentive, friendly, and always made sure to check in on us, which added to the overall positive vibe of the day. The beach club also features a DJ who plays good dance music, adding an upbeat energy that perfectly complements the beachside setting. All in all, Mamitas Beach Club is a great spot for a fun and relaxing day. While the cover charge might seem a bit high at first, the food and drink credit balances it out, especially if you plan to enjoy the amenities fully.

I came down to the beach to sunbathe, but there was no sun and decided to have lunch at Mamita’s Beach club. It is overlooking the beach and has a light airy beach atmosphere. The service was great and the servers were very friendly. I had a cold refreshing lemonade. That was very good and fried fish and vegetables. While the meal was very good it not special in anyway. I would come again, not for the food, but for the fabulous environment, where I can hear the ocean and smell the sea-breeze.

Nestled at the northern end of Playa del Carmen, Playa Punta Esmeralda is a hidden gem that offers a tranquil escape from the more crowded beaches. This stunning stretch of sand features a unique cenote that flows directly into the Caribbean Sea, creating an enchanting blend of blue and green hues as freshwater mingles with saltwater. Ideal for families, the shallow waters provide a safe environment for little ones to splash around while adults can indulge in beach sports or simply relax on the soft white sands.
Perfect spot for a family day. A very nice, cool, and shallow cenote that merges with the beach makes it a perfect spot for kids to play all day. The beach itself is also nice but the water is very clear. You can also reserve the palapas FREE for the day !

Beautiful spot, beach in one side and cenote water on the other side. Such a gem. There was some garbage around the sides, not much on the sand thou. Very local spot with local people, music and atmosphere

I had the sweetest most unexpected adventure deciding to go here. It’s a hike of about 50 min walk from the center (I broke it up in half to have breakfast) but 🥹 was worth it! Not busy, but not quiet. Lots of locals. Lots of little babes swimming and playing in the mini cenote. Found a perfect spot under a palm tree and sunned and shaded and slept and swam. It was perfect. Free entrance if on foot. You can bring your own food just no glass bottles. Showers and restroom on site.
Annalee R — Google review
Relaxing? Beyond. A beautiful beach to visit that is peaceful and not full of all the tourists. It's worth the drive and a great place to spend the day. Bring your own food and water as there is no water or food in the area. Beach is clean and pleasantly quiet with the natural sounds of the ocean waves.
Jimbo L — Google review
Absolutely recommend! If you want a beach with white clean sand, lovely turquoise water, no seaweed, not crowded … look no further. No plastic sunbeds, airy, lovely cenote water combined with the sea…loved it. The pics don’t do it justice.
Anca P — Google review
Stunning beach with freshwater cenote meeting the ocean. Great for kids and families. Cenote makes water a bit cooler and more refreshing. Sexy place
Trevor L — Google review
The beach is beautiful, and a calm płace. My favourite thing is that usually is not overcrowded. There are a couple of beach clubs, but not too many. If you’re looking for a party place go somewhere else. It’s more of a natural place. The sand is clear. If you’re afraid of water plants invasion - the beach is being cleaned every morphing. Everything is kept in a good shape. Strongly recommend seeing a sunrise or sunset. The pink sky over the jungle looks amazing.

Cenote Chaak Tun is a hidden gem located just a few kilometers from Playa del Carmen. Unlike other crowded cenotes, this underwater cavern offers a more secluded and tranquil experience. With the help of a tour guide, visitors can explore the ancient cave, marvel at untouched cenote waters, and admire stunning rock formations with rich Mayan history. The cenote features two caves - one illuminated by artificial light for photography opportunities and showcasing impressive stalactites and stalagmites.
This was a great experience! I booked this after not being able to find a decent cenote excursion on victor. They were all really long. This was 2 hours. It’s a bit of a hike so be mindful of who you’re taking with you. We had a great tour guide. The grounds were well kept. The drive there gets a little scary.
Stephanie G — Google review
We loved this place. It was our first time snorkeling in a cave, and we thought it was very cool. The depths get to around 40 feet. There are even some black cave catfish (clarias cavernicola) in this cenote as well! We got lucky with our guide, for he did an amazing job. 🤿
Marc C — Google review
Amazing and surreal experience! The staff met us at the entrance and walked us through the entire process of getting our gear (which was clean and dry). They were all so friendly and wanted to get to know us. We paid $50 per person for the 2 hour tour but you can save $10 per person if you book online 2+ days in advance. We took a taxi there from our resort and it was much cheaper than the transport they offer. However, there’s limited service in the area so we weren’t able to pay the driver with card. They ended up calling a cab for us to return home since we weren’t able to. The tour guide was great and gave the entire tour in Spanish and english. Afterwards we did the tequila tasting and that was also a great experience! Bonus: this is a queer friendly place :)
Tori F — Google review
Andy was our tour guide and he made the experience top tier! We went in knowing how beautiful the cenotes would be, but we didn't expect a comedy show too! Andy kept us laughing the entire time, educated us on the history of cenotes, and made us feel safe. He really initiated the importance of preserving nature, which is so respectful.
Alyssa C — Google review
You can enter the cenote right away, but you cannot bring cameras or smartphones. If you want to buy photos taken by the photographer, it need cost $40.
Sasa J — Google review
Well this was interesting: we got a tour at 15.30 which turned out to be just the two of us, so we got a private tour with Andy. Andy is a very funny guide. The high mark is partly for him because he made our experience the best as possible. As for the cenote on its own, as Andy says “not a Cenote but an underground river” it is for sure a „must do“ if you are around Playa del Carmen. It’s amazing what nature creates, and this is for sure the kind of place that makes you realize that. As for the price of the whole thing, for sure it is worth it, at least in our conditions of having a fully private tour, but one thing that happened to us, is that we booked the tour in advance online for 17 euros, and once we got there, we had to pay an extra 35 euros per person, which we didn’t expect, since it is not written in the website or at least it was not clear enough. Despite that we are truly happy we’ve got the chance to have this experience, and bring home memories (just trough our brain though, because the pictures they take of you are at a sell price of 50 euros the whole pack of around 15 pictures 😳 OR 35€ per picture 🤯) SUMMARY: The experience is amazing, Andy is a very good guide, but the pictures are way overpriced.
Enora G — Google review
The place is absolutely amazing, the cenote is stunning and being there is a blessing. However, I consider the price they charge for the pictures is too high. We paid 50 USD for the entry, and they wanted to charge us the exact amount for a couple of pictures, that’s ridiculous. They don’t let you get inside with you phone or camera so if you want the memory, you must pay for the pictures. Also, “tip is not included” and they suggest 5 dollars tip per person. So overall be ready to pay doble for the whole experience.
Giuliana D — Google review
We had a great time. They provided everything we needed. Julio our guide was very informative and professional. Different than any other tour. Not just, here is the cenote now swim. We spent most of our time underground. A bit spend but It was cool.

Playacar Beach is a serene and picturesque destination located in the exclusive gated community of Playacar. It stands out for its tranquil atmosphere, soft white sands, clear turquoise waters, and swaying palm trees. Unlike other bustling beaches near Quinta Avenida, Playacar Beach offers a quieter escape with fewer crowds. The beach is lined with upscale resorts and private villas that provide various amenities for visitors to enjoy.
A beautiful beach further away from the masses. If you’re lucky, you’ll even see some monkeys, wild boars or an agouti on the way there like we did.
Jennifer W — Google review
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Playacar Phase I & Phase II Playacar is divided into two distinct areas. Phase I is the oceanfront section — quieter, more secluded, villas and beach access. Phase II is built around a golf course (designed by Robert von Hagge), with more resorts and a bit more amenity-rich. From fishing village to tourist community Playa del Carmen didn’t start out luxurious. Originally, it was a small fishing town. In the 1960s-70s it began drawing international visitors (especially because of Cozumel, the reef, and its natural beauty), and eventually developments like Playacar were planned to merge residential comfort with resort luxury. It is such a wonderful beach — much better than those beach bars where you have to pay expensive entrance fees. The sunrise is absolutely stunning, with the sky and clouds playing beautifully with the sunlight. There are plenty of beach sports, friendly animals, lifeguards, and helpful staff around. If you stay up late at night, you might even get to see baby turtles making their first journey to the sea — it’s an unforgettable experience that truly takes your breath away. Highly recommend! 🌅🐢 Public beach law in Mexico Even though Playacar is a gated community with controlled access for vehicles, the beaches themselves are public: Mexican law guarantees public access to the shoreline. So walking onto the beach is legal.

Clean and always cool. And by that I mean the sand is always pretty cool and not a “I’m in a hot sunny country so the sand is frying my feet” hot. The sand has a unique structure (I’m serious, please google it, it’s interesting) and that’s why it always stays a pleasant temperature.

The beach is nice and there are plenty of places to eat and drink. There are also lots of massage places with decent prices. This year though(November 2019) there were a lot of jelly fish as myself and many others were stung. We never went back in the water after that.

Martina Beach Club is a popular spot in Playa del Carmen, offering a fabulous daytime experience with live music, champagne processions, and stylish performers. The professional staff ensures exclusive service so guests can enjoy delicious food and drinks without leaving their beach or poolside spots.
Great cocktails, food was good too. Clean facilities. There are a few options to enter, we chose the 750 pesos one, out of that 500 is credit for food or drinks. The beach itself is not huge, and smelled like rotten eggs because of the sargassum. But if you can ignore that I think it’s a great beach club. Juan was our waiter. He was really kind and attentive. Thank you 🙏🏻

5 Stars — A Hidden Gem at the Perfect Time! I had an amazing experience at Martina Beach! The staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, and the food? Next level. Do yourself a favor and order the Ribeye... trust me on this one. I went during a slower time of day, and I think I’ll always plan my visits around that now. I got the exact beach chairs I wanted, the breeze was perfect, and the sand was soft and beautiful. A peaceful, delicious, and scenic escape. Highly recommend!

Amazing place. Several hotels in the area have arrangements for free entry tickets. Make sure to ask your hotel desk. Otherwise it's about 600-800 pesos overall per person for two different fees including chair rental and what seems like a food and drink deposit 🤷. Everything is reasonably priced and delicious. Very visually appealing food, drinks, and atmosphere! There's a pool, upscale beach bar, and umbrella shaded beach chairs to find your preference. The drinks weren't very strong, but hey 🤷 nobody's perfect. Highly recommend!
Christopher B — Google review
Martina Beach Club is in a great location, close to the main strip. The beach is beautiful, white sands and the ocean was warm. The beach itself is public, the beach club is roped off and is private to paying guests. You have to pay extra to use the pool area....and if you like loud music, dancers, bachelor/bachelorette party vibe....the pool area is perfect for you. That's where we spent our time. The DJ was fire! The food is basic and fine, you don't go here for the food....it's all about the party atmosphere.
April K — Google review
The good: I really enjoyed the music here, the view of the beach was magnificent if you got a good seat. The water was warm and clean, and there were jetski’s. The bad: service was the worst I received in playa del Carmen. We had to flag a server down if we wanted something, they didn’t check on us. we ordered drinks we never received, they only brought out the food which took a very long time. We order the drinks again, & they barely had alcohol (if they even put any at all). We get the bill and they charged us for both orders of drinks. Then the server comes out and insists we got both sets of drinks, and the manager says he’s going to run the cameras back to see if we were lying. Just us 2 spent over $200usd, so to be accused of lying to get $20 off the bill is ridiculous, especially after it was made clear y’all didn’t really want to serve us anyway, if the server did his job and checked on us, he’d know we never got the drinks. I have a video when we got the food *no drinks in sight* Don’t waste your money if you don’t want to be profiled, I’ll just say that. Also the beach stinks so bad!

Museo Frida Kahlo Playa Del Carmen is a compact venue located on Fifth Avenue, offering interactive exhibits, sculptures, and collages of reproductions of Frida Kahlo's works. The museum provides a unique insight into the life and loves of the surrealist painter through guided tours. It is a popular attraction in Playa del Carmen, showcasing the life and influence of the iconic Mexican artist.
My daughter and I enjoyed this experience. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and answered all our questions. I learned so much about Frida and her life. We received a bag as part of our ticket admission. A good little stop to learn more about Frida's history. Memorable experience of our stay in Playa del Carmen.
Cindy E — Google review
We visited the Frida Kahlo Museum in Playa del Carmen and opted for the guided tour, which we highly recommend. Our guide, Natalia, was excellent—engaging and informative. The tour took about 45 minutes and included a walk-through of storyboards and installations that offer a concise introduction to Frida’s life and art. We paid $595 MXN for one adult and one student ticket, which included a small white shopping bag featuring Frida’s face. While it’s a fun and educational stop—especially if you’re unfamiliar with her work—it does feel a bit pricey when compared to the actual Casa Azul (The Blue House) in Mexico City, which costs only $320 MXN and offers a much more in-depth experience lasting over an hour. That said, the Playa del Carmen version is centrally located just off 5th Avenue, so the higher price is somewhat expected given its touristy setting. The gift shop also features some lovely artwork for sale and is worth a browse.

The Frieda Kahlo Museum is very nicely done and our museum guide was very nice and told us everything, and she was able to answer all our questions. It is not only a good attraction in bad weather but also on very warm days as the museum has air-conditioned. We really liked the museum and can highly recommend it. 🌼🎨🖌️♥️

Wonderful museum and the guided tour was excellent! The tour is about 1 hour and goes through Frida Kahlo's life and art as well as Mexico's history. It's okay for kids although there are difficult topics. With the tickets, you can get a 30% discount to the chocolate museum in Playa del Carmen.
Orly L — Google review
Takes about 20 minutes, but is a great explanation of Frida’s life and how it influenced her art. It’s a self-guided tour with mostly pictures and art recreations with a paragraph and timeline underneath.

Guide was extremely detailed and very engaging. Loved the tour. The exhibit itself is not super big but we were able to spend 2 hours there. Tour guide comes with admissions. General admission is 18. High school students is 15. Kids are free. There are many different aspects of the exhibit that are more engaging like 360 videos. Overall the whole exhibit is gorgeous and great for pictures. Highly recommend but a bit pricey I must say.

Playa Mamitas in Playa del Carmen is a top destination for beach lovers. With its clear waters, white sand, and swaying palm trees, it's the epitome of a Caribbean paradise. However, visitors should be cautious with their belongings as theft can occur. Despite this, many enjoy the beach's vibrant atmosphere with music and delicious food options. It's recommended to visit later in the day to avoid large crowds and catch a stunning sunset.
Beautiful beach, the sand is super soft on your feet, the sunrise is great and I'd even say a must at least once. Very populated with clubs which offer both food and drinks. (JUNE 2025) Good public beach access in Playa del Carmen. Lots of restaurants around the area. We just went at the wrong time because it's seaweed season. There's a paid street parking around the blocks, you can pay via kiosk using MXN coins and cash, not sure about card. But you can download the app and pay online if you want to use credit card. You MUST display the paid receipt in your dashboard, if you paid via kiosk and didn't pay online.

Have a great experience here. The jetskis were newer and drive nice. Friendly staff that gave good instructions. Finding the place was a bit hard and but the guide communicated well on WhatsApp and met us by the road and showed us where to part. Only thing I didn’t like was the price is really steep. I understand it’s entertainment and stuff but $90 for half hour seemed a bit steep. And right around 29 minutes or so he was out there waving to let us know time was up so there was definitely no extra time granted. But it’s jet skis in the Caribbean so how cool is that right?

Boardsports Beach - Kiteboarding & Paddleboarding School is a great spot to learn kiteboarding. The 3-hour lesson option comes with a fantastic instructor and plenty of equipment options. The beach provides an ideal setting for learning, especially on days with light wind. From putting on the gear to flying the kite and practicing various exercises, the experience is as fast-paced as you can handle.
We had an great experience renting kayaks from this beach shop! The owner (Sergio) is super relaxed, friendly, and gave us great advice for exploring the ocean. The prices were very reasonable, making it an excellent value for the experience. However, finding the shop can be a bit tricky. It's located next to Marena Beach Club, and you need to enter the resort area first by passing through the gate. Once inside, drive down the road almost all the way to the end, then turn left onto an unpaved road that leads to the beach club. It’s worth the effort to find—highly recommended!

First time kiteboarding. Took the 3 hour lesson option. Great instructor. Lots of equipment options. Ideal beach to learn on. My day had Light wind = 17m kite. As fast paced as you can handle. Went from putting on the harness, helmet, pumping up the kite, attaching all the lines, safety brief and emergency releases. Time to fly the kite, "body drag" in the water, board and body drag, lots of other exercises, ... now to put the board on. Was able to make short runs before my 3 hours were up. A lot to absorb and was tired at the end. Another hour or more the next day would have been the way to go... but our vacation was over and time to go to work. We stayed at the Royal Hacienda, a 5-10 minute walk on the beach to the boarding shop on the beach. They also have stand up paddle board and other toys to fill your day with fun. 250 pesos to sit in the adjacent hotel beach club chairs and pool- 250 applies to food and drinks... so if you eat and drink it is no extra cost to sit and watch. Ready for a new adventure... this is it. Takes athletic abilities.

We were at Corasol Beach Club enjoying the day and I love water sports so I was happy to meet Sergio and see that he offered stand up paddle boarding kayaking and kite boarding. Such a cool guy! I went paddling and took my girlfriend as well and Sergio invited me back to learn how to kite board which I will be doing and excited great prices as well! If you were in Playa del Carmen and want to get away from the main crowded beach just to the north you have a nice private location where you will have more attentive service come here don’t think twice.
Christopher T — Google review
Sergio is a very cool and passionate guy. He will teach you anything you need to kite and advise on equipment, conditions etc. Spot is very nice and uncrowded. I was in Mexico in low wind season and this location was the only one open in the area. I would recommend to anyone.
Łukasz P — Google review
Sergio is a fantastic instructor. He knows the wind down there very well and even when the wind was not very good he did his best to teach us anyway. He was respectful with the time we paid for and made sure we got the most out of what we could. Wind is unpredictable but we had a great time. 🤙🌊

If you're looking for an unforgettable diving experience, "Chill and Go Diving" is the perfect choice! I recently spent a month exploring the stunning waters of the Yucatan Peninsula, where I had the chance to dive in the breathtaking Mesoamerican Reef System, stretching from Cozumel all the way to Honduras. The guide was exceptional—knowledgeable and friendly—taking me to some of the best dive spots while capturing our adventures on his GoPro.
I can't recommend this guy enough. He's been amazing the whole time I was there. Took me to the best diving spots, shot some stuff with his gopro and gave me some videos as souvenir. Also got my Advanced class with him and he's a great teacher. If you're planning to go dive around Playa Del Carmen, do yourself a favor and hire him.

The 3D Museum of Wonders, located on the lively 5th Avenue in Playa del Carmen, is a unique and interactive museum featuring over 60 three-dimensional illusions. Visitors can take part in the art by posing for photos that create optical illusions such as riding a surfboard or interacting with historic scenes. The museum's paintings cover entire rooms from floor to ceiling, offering an immersive experience for all ages.
We recently visited museum during our vacation time in Playa del Carmen. We went during the day so it wasn’t too busy. We loved the art there. Yesi was an employee that worked that day and she was amazing. She spent at least 15 minutes with just us helping us set up for different photos and took photos, gave us ideas and hints on what photos to take. We had so much fun and got some cool pics in the process.
Tjasa G — Google review
I was just wandering around and found this museum. The receptionist was warm and welcoming and my guide was patient and helped me get THE photos. This was a fun solo date. Have your phones ready and enjoy! If you have children, this is a fun and immersive museum that they may enjoy!

Of course it’s a tourist place and of course it’s a bit pricey. But it’s usually hot or raining here, so an inside activity that is genuinely fun for the whole family & educational is priceless when you need a break from shopping on 5th ave. Stop in and spend an hour taking some really cool photos that will be some of your favorites from a trip to the Riviera Maya, you will not be disappointed!
Keef H — Google review
On my most recent trip to Mexico, I visited this museum with my sister and a friend and we had a great time. I felt like a kid again. We had fun taking photos in the rooms, and Yesi was very helpful in providing suggestions and even taught us new features on my phone to take the best pictures. I would absolutely visit this museum again.

We had a wonderful experience. We didn't really know what to expect and the artwork and the fun of having your pictues taken there is incredible. Yesi, the guide was awesome. She took real fun, panorama pics of us and was super helpful. All in all a great experience, highly recommended.
Ruth S — Google review
I liked my experience there they showed us a video all about the museum and once we got inside a lady instructed us how to take the photos and the best angle you do have to take off your shoes which I like so your not taking the street in with you. She asked us to take pictures of us so we could have some together. Hehe 😊

I finally got to pet a dragon :-) What a fun place to spend around an hour. Gratefully it was not busy so Yesi was amazing in taking photos of me. She was a fantastic host. My only recommendation is to come with some else. If the place were busy, Yesi may not have been able to spend so much time with me, the single visitor.
Erik S — Google review
I had such a great experience at this museum. It's a place that you wouldn't think to visit, but one you'd be sad you missed having gone. Yesi was exceptional and really helped make our experience and our photos even better than we would have doing it ourselves. She made the experience that much more fun with her expertise. 💯% recommended Yesi and this 3D museum experience.

The park features children's play equipment, short walking trails, and a shaded cafe for parents to relax. Additionally, it hosts various events such as yoga classes, movie screenings, book fairs, and dance performances.
Nice and cozy park. The narrow paths are surrounded by greenery and it seems as if you are in the jungle. There is a toilet with toilet paper and hand wipes. A cute cafe with reasonable prices and quite tasty frappuccinos and smoothies.

SAYAB Planetario de Playa del Carmen is a captivating destination that goes beyond just stargazing. This planetarium offers an array of multimedia presentations, including HD movies and virtual-reality games, making it a fantastic spot for both education and entertainment. Visitors can immerse themselves in the wonders of the cosmos while also learning about local natural attractions like cenotes and mangroves.
Specialised on cenotes, this planetarium offers much more than information about stars. Check out their weekly events since those are usually very interesting and cover diverse topics about the cosmos and the night sky. Most events are in Spanish, but you also find regular offers in English.

This place is appallingly disorganized. We live in the neighborhood and every time we have visited (at least 4-6times) it has always been an unmitigated disaster. There is zero effective communication and nothing on the spot. We would have been perfectly willing to pay an entry fee or even an annual membership but all we have ever gotten is a shrug. Not worth the effort of schlepping the kids. Indescribably frustrating.

All activities are in Spanish. There's a translator on the premises, but she can only do so much. There are activities with telescope a few times a day. Website may be down, I hear they post on Facebook.
Alex — Google review
We loved the explanation from the astronomer for the viewing of the sun. They only let us see a tiny part of the sun with a telescope though, perhaps there are limitations we do not know about. Dome video was seriously outdated (2003) and had some pretty tacky music. We think overall it’s a noble place and something people should take advantage of. Excellent staff.

Playa 88, located in the Colosio district, is a hidden gem that attracts more locals and fishermen than tourists. One of its main attractions is the opportunity to join in a game of beach volleyball with active locals who set up nets every evening. The beach offers amenities such as bathrooms, showers, and wheelchair access. Visitors are advised to use the main entrance for access to change rooms and outdoor showers at a nominal fee.
Beautiful beach to catch the sunrise. Clean calm and a great vibe. Wish I could come every day!!
Maya J — Google review
Playa 88 is a very nice beach. But the seaweed (sargassum) problem at the moment, making it difficult to even want to visit the beach. Also, it smells so bad, the sand so hard from the tractors 🚜 driving to try and clear the seaweeds.
Damion N — Google review
The beach was beautiful and we got there around 8am so we could use a free Palapa. The staff was very friendly! The bathrooms are locked and are 5 pesos per use per person. Keep in mind that there is limited shade and only a few palapas available for use. Also, sargasum was being cleaned up, collected, and pilled up the entire 4 hours we were there.
Nautia S — Google review
Playa 88 is one of my favourite beaches. Not as many tourists, the beach doesn’t smell weird like the ones in the centro and the vibe is great.
Becks B — Google review
I'd highly recommend using the main entrance as a tourist. There's access to change rooms, outdoor showers and washrooms at 5 pesos a piece. They do have change but it's better to bring coins. The main entrance also has less/no standing water behind it aka mosquitoes. Was able to sit out there and relax for hours with only a couple interruptions from vendors selling drinks/snacks. Seaweed is there but you can find sections with a bit less and enjoy the water for a bit. People were generally nice and was able to walk away and go in the water without concern for my possessions.
Mandy B — Google review
Playa 88 is the gateway to beach bliss! The entrance sets the vibe with swaying palms and a laid-back atmosphere, welcoming you to a tropical paradise. The beach itself is a stunner – soft sands and crystal-clear waters make it a perfect escape. If you're in Playa del Carmen and craving a top-notch beach experience, this is the spot to start your coastal adventure.

Great beach, very secluded as it is a bit far away. It has a sargasum barrier, if you go on calm days without winds you should be fine. However, no bars and stores that sell alcohol nearby so keep in mind to stock up before coming here

Portal Maya is a striking 50-foot high sculpture located at Parque Los Fundadores, depicting two figures being pushed by a spiral of wind and water. Created in 2012 to mark the end of the Mayan Calendar, it celebrates the Mayan communities in the Yucatan Peninsula. Designed by Arturo Tavarez, it represents the new Mayan era and inaugurates a new tourist and historical era for Playa del Carmen.
We did not venture over to Cozumel but we did visit the port. The beach was popping around there. Lots of restaurants. Good shopping with lots of cool people and there's lots of entertainment. Definitely recommend 5th Street!!
Dee J — Google review
Plan on at least 4 to 8 hours depending on what you want to do. Rent golf cart from red golf cart vendor only. $80 for the day and you can see most of the area. We drove to Krazy Lobster, get a small but free margaritas, beers are only 2-3 $. Food was OK, but fairly priced. You can shop for gifts or adult at the beach and swim in the ocean. Worth doing if you are there. Drive to the Chunky Monkey and get a cocktail too. Very friendly staff!
Chris S — Google review
Portal Maya is the main port for catching the ferry to Cozumel, and it’s always buzzing with energy. You’ll find a mix of tour operators, souvenir shops, and street food vendors. It’s a lively spot, perfect for people-watching and soaking in the local vibe. Just a heads-up — some vendors charge higher prices than others, so it’s always a good idea to negotiate before making a purchase. Overall, it’s a great starting point for your Cozumel trip or just exploring local culture in 🇲🇽

(Translated by Google) Fantastic day with Aurélie in Tulum, Coba, and at the cenote. The day was full of learning about the Mayan civilization amidst the ruins. The sites are fabulous and completely different—perfect! Lunch with a Mayan family was a very pleasant and timeless experience. Pure bliss! Go for this excursion without hesitation! Second excursion to the underground river with Alexia. A timeless experience with our amazing guide who taught us so much and was truly fantastic. A magical place; we felt privileged to see it just the two of us and Alexia. The play of light was remarkable, and the team there was incredibly friendly and had a little surprise in store for us at the end of the day. Third excursion and third magical day with Alexia, always perfect, in Cozumel for a snorkeling day. Incredible spots, drinks in the water with stingrays, and lots of fish, turtles, coral, and starfish. We ended the day with our heads full of images and memories. Truly fabulous! Our fourth excursion to Chichen Itza and Valladolid included a cenote swim with Jorge, our incredible guide, whose knowledge, kindness, and passion were infectious. The group was fantastic, and we had a memorable day. The site is absolutely magnificent, and you can buy souvenirs from local artisans at much better prices than in town. The cenote swim was very pleasant (although a bit too crowded for my liking). Valladolid, a colonial city, is very charming (it's a shame we didn't get more information there). Overall, the day was excellent. A must-do excursion! And if you're lucky enough to have Jorge, take advantage of it! He's fantastic and a wealth of information on Mayan culture! Our last excursion today was to the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve with César, an attentive guide who provided a wealth of information about the fauna, flora, and Mayan history. Despite the long drive (3 hours, including 1.5 hours on rough tracks), the site is absolutely exceptional. We saw dolphins, turtles, manatees, and crocodiles during the day. The fishing village is also very charming and offers a glimpse of the "real Mexico." Despite the murky and somewhat choppy waters (making snorkeling impossible) due to the weather conditions, the captain did everything he could to help us see the animals! Thank you to them! In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend Pixan Riviera. The organization was perfect every time, the guides were extremely knowledgeable and kind. The sites are fantastic, and we avoided the crowds by arriving early. Thank you for everything; the trip will remain unforgettable.

2025-August. I booked this adventure through our hotel. 7 am: Omar, our pickup shuttle driver, was polite and spoke good English. We later transferred to another van with 5 people in it. The driver of the 2nd van did not speak English so we could not understand what he was pointing out outside. 9 am: We arrived at the Adventuras Mayan compound. As soon as we arrived, our guide, Agus, explained the agenda for our group: zipline, ATV, lunch, and then cenote swim. He also gave us a padlock for our locker. The compound has sections- the middle has the souvenirs, lockers, and cashiers, beside it is the cafeteria (since lunch was included with the price), another section for the zipline, another for the ATV, another for the cenote, and another, for the restrooms. The lockers were included in the fee. The women's restroom has 9 stalls and is clean. Zipline: Eyewear and phone cases that were hanging from your neck were allowed. Closed-toed shoes are a must. No Crocs or sandals. We were given thin fabric headcovers before we put on our helmets. We got our gear and helmet. Then Agus did the safety rundown. Our adventure consists of 7 ziplines (regular, upside down, superman, and hammock). You have an option to do 3 or 5 lines. There are also options not to do the specialty ziplines and just do the regular ones. The zipline towers are high- about 50 to 100 steps per tower. There are landings every 8 to 12 treads. The treads of the staircase are short, so I keep bumping my shins on the nosings. The staff at the ziplines were very efficient. Photographers were stationed at the hammock, the Superman, and the upside-down lines. Be careful when you spread your hands out to your sides as your hands will hit the trees! Everything else went well. ATV: Next, we were given another head cover and our ATV helmets with clear covers at the front. Agus gave us the waivers to sign. 16 yo and up are allowed to drive. Waivers were explained and were handed to all drivers to be signed. Additional insurance for their ATVs was then explained - $15 per driver, optional. He then ran through the basic ATV operations. The ATV course was just a dirt road inside a forest. There are a lot of dips and turns. I had a hard time turning my ATV.. but it was all good. We then cleaned up for lunch. A photo of what was served is attached. Cenote Swim We were asked to change into our swimsuits. We were allowed to bring towels, water shoes, and your goggles if you want to use yours. But they will furnish goggles. They guided us into the cenote and discussed safety. There was a little cubby for our towels. They recommend water shoes because there are stalagmites. They were bats inside. After their photographer took some photos, our guide started swimming. The water is cold, but refreshing. There were a few good rock formations, but after 10 minutes of swimming, we were back to where we started. Yes, that was it. I don't think it was worth it. We headed out to our lockers to get dry. Agus thanked us. Tips are appreciated but not required. Then the photographer approached us. For 2 people, $25/photo; or $55 for all photos for 2 adventures; or $80 for all photos. All photos are emailed to you. They took 88 photos of me and my son, so we ended up buying all the photos. The photos will be sent to you electronically after 24 hours. We paid $250 USD for this adventure plus $80 USD for the photos. The zipline was worth it. You can probably find a better Cenote to swim into. And the ATV route could be a lot better. Hope this review helped you in any way 👍 Have a great adventure!

Luis Figueroa was our guide for the ATV extreme. He was an excellent host keeping the whole group together and everything organized and on time. ATVs ride was near 1hr through the jungle. I did the 3 ziplines doing some crazy stunts and were I was lucky to watch the amazing Tren Mayan from a tower. Snorkeling on lagoon when the cenote's sweet water mix the salty ocean's water, was a unique experience. ...and the cherry on top was Snorkeling on the crystal clear water of the cenote, wow such a beautiful nature hidden in the Mayan jungle !! The lunch was an amazing all u can eat buffet at the restaurant class service ! Thank you Aventuras Mayas for your friendly hospitality and great professional service.

We had Nacho as a guide. Couldn't have been more happy with everyone on the tour. Everyone was super friendly, and the food was nice and fresh. The water was crystal clear for snorkeling, and there were lots of fish, and even a few lobsters. Couldn't recommend this more for a shorter, but fun excursion. Everything was clean and safe.

We had a different guide for each, and they were all fantastic! The whole thing from start to finish was about seven hours. They picked us up and dropped us off right from our hotel lobby. I would not recommend for those that are not physically active though. The ruins had stairs, walking and extreme humidity, the ATV course was very fun and technical at times, and the ceynote had stairs and swimming, but life vests and masks are provided. Each activity gave us a taste of what they were, without being an all day time commitment for each one. Definitely worth the money!

Had an amazing day today. Started the day off with Nacho as the driver. He is awesome. Got to ride some ATV's, Got to jump into a cenote and did a Mayan sacrifice! Then we ended the day with a tequila tasting. Wife and I are very satisfied! 5⭐️'s Samantha is the best tour guide. Thank you Aventuras Mayas for such a great experience.

We booked the Flavours of Yucatán Trip with a market visit, cultural tour of Valladolid cooking & cenote swim through our tour operator TUI - as a family we 100% recommend this trip - from start to finish Dimi (our Guide), Edwin (our Driver) & David (shadow Guide in training) made it such a happy day to remember! We were picked up from our hotel in an air conditioned mini-bus at 7am & provided with water & breakfast snacks before picking up another guest & making the journey to the Yucatán region & the town of Valladolid. We had plenty of time to visit the market & "shop" for our ingredients (all included in the cost of the trip & guided by Dimi). We had some free time to wander the markets & buy things for ourselves - some spices, food & souvenirs. The trip into Valladolid town centre was charming & Dimi gave really thoughtful and interesting insights as we walked down the Calzada de lost Frailles to the church. We were then picked up & travelled to Chukum Cenote - with a brief stop at a Mayan Cemetry - at the Cenote we enjoyed the cookery experience making the salsas, torillas & seeing the conchita pibil & eating lunch. We then got changed into our swimwear (the facilities are first class!) & had a traditional shaman/mayan ceremony before entering the cenote - which added to the experience. Our children (aged 13 & 9) loved the whole trip but particularly enjoyed the zipwire & diving platforms inside the cenote. Dimi, Edwin & David made sure we were all well looked after & learnt lots in a day, including some mayan phrases - dyos Bo'otik (thank you) from us!

Petit Lafitte Hotel is a charming beachfront property that pays homage to the classic hotels that once attracted American tourists to the Riviera Maya. The hotel features a refined restaurant serving local seafood and traditional Mayan cuisine, as well as a beach club eatery and bar with an extensive selection of Mexican spirits. Guests can enjoy complimentary breakfast and dinner included in their room rate, featuring delectable dishes like Chilaquiles Verde and fresh mangos.
We loved our stay! The food was delicious and service was outstanding. We really enjoyed being in our own little bungalow and having the front porch and hammock right outside directly in the sand. It was fun to see some Coati animals running around here and there. Yoga is included every morning if you choose and the instructor was very good. Class was challenging but you could alter poses to work for beginners. I recommend bringing your water and towel since the environment is naturally hot. Kids loved the pool and the food! All of the people who work here are extremely welcoming and kind.

We loved our first stay at Hotel Petite Lafitte. Cozy rooms, friendly staff, and a relaxed boutique vibe made it feel special. The food was excellent. There were fewer choices than big resorts, but much higher quality. Would love to see more vegetarian and gluten-free options. The beachfront is perfect for lounging. Also ❤️ morning yoga with two fantastic instructors. The beach is not great for swimming, but ideal for relaxing and recharging!
Matt B — Google review
We spent 5 days there, from October 30th to November 3rd, 2025 (we booked a cabine one the beach) . It was a really nice trip to relax. The staff is lovely and super welcoming. The food is great — they offer two main options, and we always took both! It doesn’t feel like a big resort with 100 people; it’s small and doesn’t feel touristy at all. You’re about 25–30 minutes away by taxi from downtown Playa del Carmen. It costs around 25 USD one way, and they can book it for you anytime. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a chill and relaxing getaway, whether alone or as a couple..

Pretty boutique resort on the beach that had great food and great service. We were here during low season so it was nice to not have that big of a crowd. The only negative I can say is the drinks were a little too expensive. The reviews complaining about how bad the roads are, obviously haven’t been on a gravel or dirt road in the country or they are from a big city and haven’t traveled much. The road isn’t that bad and can be easily maneuvered with a car.

An affordable hotel at the beachfront. Very clean, good facilities, and an absolutely lovely staff. They were kind, flexible and welcoming. I would consider this hotel a solid 4 star for the price of a 3 star. Great deal.

Beautiful hotel in every way. Beautiful room (we had the premium room with sea wiew), beautiful facilities (not crowded mass tourism) and very friendly staff. We also enjoyed the yoga. From what we've seen walking up and down the beach, this is definitely a good choice.

The staff are excellent; very kind and courteous. A beautiful setting, very nice swimming pool and rooms are clean and the shower is fantastic. We really enjoyed the calm, serene atmosphere. Just a heads up, central Playa de Carmen is four miles away and requires a taxi.

Playa Coco Beach, located in Playa del Carmen, is a stunning and serene beachfront property with Mayan-inspired architecture. The beach offers a mix of food and music, making it an ideal spot to relax and enjoy the eclectic atmosphere. Visitors can take leisurely walks along the shore, watch the sunrise, or participate in yoga sessions. Additionally, there are facilities such as showers and sanitary amenities available for visitors' convenience.
Beautiful. Not a lot of seaweed! Windy so the sand kept blowing on us which just depends the day. Minus the wins, the water is warm, the sand is soft, the beach is clean and tons of space to put towels done and relax
Haley L — Google review
Coco Beach? It’s the chill cousin of Playa Mamitas—less crowd, more soul. You show up and the Caribbean hits you with that turquoise flex. Water so clear it looks filtered. Sand so soft it could be a mattress ad. And the vibe? Pure laid-back magic. Boats drift by like they’re on vacation too—catamarans, fishing skiffs, even the occasional dive boat sliding past like it’s got secrets. You can hop on a snorkel tour and boom—coral gardens, schools of fish, maybe even a sea turtle if Neptune’s feeling generous. ;) The reef offshore isn’t massive, but it’s got character. Think brain coral, fan coral, and little neon fish that look like they escaped a rave. Paddleboarding? Smooth. Jet skiing? Available. Just don’t crash into the pelicans—they’re the real locals here. Beach clubs line the coast with cold drinks and ceviche that slaps. You sip a margarita, toes in the sand, and suddenly you’re questioning why you ever left Belgium. Locals are friendly, tourists are mellow, and the palm trees whisper ‘stay longer.’ Wildlife? You’ll spot pelicans sunbathing like they own the place. Crabs doing sideways sprints. And if you’re lucky, dolphins teasing the horizon. It’s not a zoo—it’s nature doing its thing. Coco Beach is Quintana Roo’s low-key gem. Not flashy, not crowded, just real. You come here to breathe, float, and forget your inbox exists. 10/10 would vibe again.

Amazing beach with soft sand and nice warm water. The waves were high and it wasn’t rocky. It was my favorite beach in Playa del Carmen.

Beautiful beach, lots of yoga and things happening. Lots of people walking in the morning, lots of cute dogs. Great place to chill or go for a walk 🌴
KELLY L — Google review
One of my favorite beaches in Playa and maybe in the whole world :) The most beautiful time to go there is sunrise. It's just magical. During the day it's not too busy too but the farther you go from Carmen, the more pristine it gets. I personally like the most the small transition between Coco beach and Pelican Beach. There are really pelicans when fisherman come back with the fish (around 1pm). Evening walk here is also a good idea. So, any time of the day it's a perfect place to go. There are no big parties, just some nature and friendly people :)
Maria N — Google review
My favoritist beach in Play del Carmen. You just have to experience it's simplicity. You can walk for miles if you like.
Sally M — Google review
The public beach is next to the Reef coco beach resort. Not busy at all for a Sunday. Only downside is they don’t clean up the seaweed every day.
Micha F — Google review
Beautiful beach! This is the white sandy beaches we come to mexico for. There are not many people out here trying to sell you things. The beach is kept clean. There's occasional patrols, although they don't seem necessary as the vibe is very mellow. It gets a little crowded but still very relaxing.

Tours Del Carmen is your go-to for unforgettable adventures in the vibrant Playa del Carmen, a destination that has transformed from a quaint fishing village into a bustling beach paradise. Known for its lively nightlife and the iconic Fifth Avenue, this locale offers an array of shopping and beach clubs perfect for memorable parties. Beyond its energetic atmosphere, Tours Del Carmen connects you with exciting excursions to nearby attractions like Cozumel and ancient Mayan ruins.
Amazing and I could not recommend highly enough. Highly responsive, personable and arranged exactly what we wanted as opposed to the generic tours I imagine most of us are used to. We booked a private tour to Chichen Itza & Valladolid which was amazing. If you go to Chichen Itza with these guys make sure you request Miguel, his knowledge of the site blew my mind! We then did the Sian Ka’an tour with Valentine and this was one of the best tours we have been on in our lives. Punctual, well organised, thoughtful, funny and again incredibly knowledgeable of the reserve meant we had an amazing time. We saw dolphins, crocodiles, turtles and lots of sea birds. We recommend to anyone and everyone visiting the Riveria Maya!

For our honeymoon we went to Mexico, we were looking for a reliable address for excursions. With this organization we were at the right place. Through Sabastian we booked 4 beautiful and memorable excursions. Here no hidden tax costs everything was included in the price. With some other providers you have to pay taxes afterwards. The great thing is also that he thinks with you and if he can't arrange it he knows how to arrange it through someone else without any worries or extra costs. They also helped us to nice restaurants and useful tips regarding souvenir stores. Thank you for arranging to provide us with an unforgettable vacation. Greetings Jody and Veronique

Sebastian from Tours de Carmen was 10/10. From the moment he picked us up we felt safe and warmly welcomed. He went above and beyond to ensure our stay in Playa was memorable. The tours he booked us for were fabulous and certainly were the highlight of our trip. If you are looking for a reliable and genuine tour guide in the Playa del Carmen area- look no further!!

We had an incredible experience with Tours del Carmen. Our trip to Chichén Itzá was one of the best and definitely worthwhile. The guide, Marco, was exceptionally knowledgeable, patient and kind making the tour much more enjoyable. The tour was perfectly organized, with each stop offering a unique and enriching experience. The swim in the cenote was a beautiful and refreshing end to the day. I highly recommend this tour company if you want to learn more about Mayan culture and have an unforgettable adventure!
Alessio Q — Google review
Sebastian is absolutely your guy if you dream of a nice tour while in PDC. We did the classical Chichen Itza tour and we liked it. As others mentioned, the tour company is Baktun so you'll need to lower your expectations. It's not a bad company per se, but they will bombard you with countless sales pitches. Even though Sebastian warned us, we still fell for some of them lol. So, don't bring too many pesos. This particular tour is about 12-13 hours long so prepare to be exhausted. It was so hot at Chichen Itza that my eyeballs were burning. I just wish we spent more time at the cenote, which was outstanding. For us, the last stop (Valladolid) didn't happen. We were told it was due to some local government events. It would've been nice to see the historical church but it wasn't a big deal for us. All in all, this was a great value compared to what hotels sell to tourists.

Buceo Playa del Carmen Scuba Playa offers an unforgettable scuba diving experience with a prime location just steps from the beach. The friendly and non-pushy sales representatives, along with patient and knowledgeable dive instructors, ensure a stress-free and safe adventure. The professional boat crew adds to the positive impression, while the team goes above and beyond to adapt to divers' preferences. With vibrant underwater life and coral formations, this experience is truly magical.
My husband & I dove with scuba playa for five months back in 2023 and returned to keep diving with them this year! This shop is teeming with friendly, safe, knowledgeable, and professional divers. Their rental gear is in great shape and I feel very secure leaving my personal gear at the shop for back to back dives. If you’re looking for an amazing dive shop to get certified or be shown some of the best dive sites in Playa, cenotes, or Cozumel, this is your shop!

My friend and I did the Open Water & Advanced course with Moises – we had a really great three days. The atmosphere was very friendly, and Moy was a great instructor. He made us feel really safe on all the dives! I would definitely recommend it.

I dove two days with Playa Scuba and I cannot say enough about the experience. Great dives in two very different Cenotes - carefully chosen for my first true cavern dives by a IANTD certified instructor. I had such a great experience that I came back for a bull shark dive. The crew did an amazing job balancing enthusiasm with professionalism and I felt fully safe the entire time. The pictures I included don’t do any of it justice, but I hope they help give you an idea of how fabulous it can be! Special shout out to Moy for helping me coordinate everything since I was staying out on Cozumel and had to take the ferry over each day.

My brother and I did the 3 day "Top Discover" package. It was a solid deal, plus Moy was nice and offered some discounts. All 3 days of diving were fantastic, even as inexperienced divers. One day was off of Cozumel, one was at Playa del Carmen, and one was at the Cenotes. It offered a lot of diversity as far as what we saw each day. Things with the shop were pretty straightforward, even when we were handed off to another shop for one of the days.

I recently had the pleasure of going scuba diving for the first time at Scuba Playa and it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with warm smiles that immediately put me at ease. Moises was an amazing teacher. He took the time to explain every step of the process, ensuring I felt comfortable and confident before we even got into the water. Once we were in the water, the experience was magical. The underwater world was filled with vibrant life and coral formations. It felt like I was in a different world entirely. Moises stayed close by, guiding me through the dive and pointing out fascinating creatures I would have otherwise missed like a seahorse he used a magnifying glass to see and a giant eel under a cave. He even took amazing photos of the creatures and me while underwater. I felt safe the whole time and knew I was in good hands. I can't recommend Scuba playa enough, especially for first-time divers. If you've ever considered trying scuba diving, this is the place to do it. Thank you for an incredible adventure!

Wheelie Trails ATV Jungle Tours offers an exciting and unique way to explore the lush tropical jungle of the Yucatan. The tours provide a thrilling adventure through jungle trails, beaches, and even a ride to a tranquil cenote. Expert guides with impressive multilingual skills lead the tours, providing valuable insights into the area's wildlife and plant life. The ATVs are well-maintained and come with automatic transmission for ease of use.
Excellent adventure! We LOVED our ATV Jungle Tour. It was everything we had hoped for and more. Our guide Mario took excellent care of us, explained the vehicles well, communicated his hand signs and let us know about riding etiquette. The quads are quite strong, not the usual small plastic rides - real offroad vehicles, which adapt ideally to the terrain. If they tell you it's 2 or more hours of riding, you will be riding, no circuit, no parcour - all jungle, up and down and if you like, quite swift. We loved every last second, it was easy to get in touch with them, communication is fast and in very good English. You can book different tours, we were led to the cenote, in the middle of the jungle, it is magical! Our guide had water with him for us whenever we got thirsty. I would advise on sunglasses, you will kick up some dirt and sand, even if not, some bugs might be in your path. For everyone looking for a real ATV adventure in the jungle, look no further, call/contact them, they will hook you up and you will have an experience to fully satisfy you!

We had an incredible time on our ATV tour today! The ride was exhilarating, and our guide was outstanding—friendly and knowledgeable. The highlight was visiting the secluded Cenote, which was stunning and peaceful. We highly recommend this tour and can’t wait to return!

We had a great time on this ATV-Cenote tour. The guides were super nice. The grotto-type cenote was really neat and we had a blast swimming there. The Wheelie Trails ATV guides even sent us photos afterwards.
CMcCullough — Google review
The private atv/cenote tour was a lot of fun. Our guide took lots of pictures and videos and sent them to my phone (while other places will charge you for a couple of pictures) I’d recommend taking a cab there and scheduling with the driver to come back to get you when your tour ends. It was difficult to get transportation back since the location is a little far from town.
Scarlet M — Google review
Loads of fun! Small company west of Playa Del Carmen. The ride was on a well maintained dirt road / trail, however dodging the puddles and going full throttle through some of it made it exciting. Mario our guide was full of fun information and over all a chill guy that made sure we had a good time. The centoe is absolutely stunning! The only negative of this adventure was transportation. Since they are located a bit west of town, the cab driver on our way there was unsure where to go. The driver also stated, "cabs do not come out there for a return transportation". This was a little unsettling however, Mario assured they do. When we returned to basecamp after riding, the outfitter had a cab squared away for our return transportation. No issues!
Maria B — Google review
You couldn’t pick a better tour group to go ATVing through the jungle and to see the most breathtaking cenoté. The machines were well maintained and in excellent condition. They had helmets for us that were clean and very safe. Getting out there we did take a cab and it was an easy drive, Wheelie trail did send us a pin for their location which made it easy it was 250 peso. You could take a collectivo as that’s how we got back in to playa - we did walk for a ways up the highway and waited to flag a cab/ collectivo to bring us back in. Mario was the most thorough knowledgeable & fun tour guide you could ever get. He is an encyclopedia and truly made the trip magical. This ATV tour was honestly the highlight of our vacation and worth every cent. +++ recommend

This experience was amazing to say the least. I read an earlier review and someone complained about the guide telling a young rider to stay in line with the other riders. As an experienced rider, I can say this was 100% for her safety and nothing else. They guide should have been commended and not chided for this. I noticed this early on and was very pleased that safety was of the utmost importance of our guide, Yair, while riding through the city and in the jungle on this tour. Riding the ATVs was truly exhillerating but the best part was to come! The extensive tour of the authentic cenote and caverns was special and something you may only get one opportunity to do in life. Our guide was very knowledgeable in the local ancient Mayan and natural history of this sacred and beautiful place, as well as the local flora and fauna. My wife and I had a wonderful experience and leaned a great deal too. I highly recommend this tour to anyone that is able to take it. It was more than worth the modest price in my opinion. Thank you Wheelie Trails and our guide, Yair! See you next time, amigo!

The vibe is quite chill and lovely. The service here really sets this place apart- some of the best I’ve ever had in Mexico. The ladies were lovely and attentive, very present when we needed anything and super pleasant. The price isn’t bad for what you get- I will say the food was just okay, nothing special but you’re here more to relax and have some drinks than to have a nice meal. The pool was a perfect temperature and very clean. My biggest complaint of this place would be the toilets. For a classy place that felt very clean overall- the toilets were quite grim. Otherwise: definitely come here to spend a nice and relaxing day!

If you're eager to dive into the stunning underwater realm of Cozumel but aren't quite ready for scuba diving, then snorkeling in this beautiful destination is the perfect alternative. With its vibrant coral reefs and diverse marine life, a snorkeling tour allows you to encounter fascinating creatures like whale sharks, turtles, and an array of tropical fish without needing extensive training.
We used beach real Cozumel for our snorkeling tour. Victor and Ruben took us to three different sites including El Cielo and El Cielito. We had the opportunity to swim with sea turtles and stingrays. It was such a great experience. Ruben made guacamole and ceviche in the boat. It was delicious!

Down payment done with PayPal was safe, paid the balance in cash. Claudia gave us a discount for the tour and the ferry, which was really nice. The actual snorkeling tour was handled by May-Be tours and we did the same tour as everybody else as all the boats are going to the exact same spots., just cheaper ;-)

We had a wonderful day on the island with the tour guide. In total, just as Abraham promised, there were only eight of us. The three of us in one Jeep and the other family in the other. Wonderful. Thanks Abraham for everything. If we ever return to Playa del Carmen or Cancun, we'll contact you. (Original) Excelente tour en Jeep por la isla de Cozumel. 31Playa El Recodo

Mentioned on
1 list
Playa El Recodo is a quieter beach located north of Playa del Carmen, popular among visitors looking for a more peaceful atmosphere. Although the beach has experienced significant erosion recently, it still offers a serene setting for families to enjoy the sea and sunbathe. While there are no public bathrooms nearby, the tranquil and uncrowded nature of this beach makes it an attractive destination. Additionally, its beauty is enhanced during sunrise, offering a picturesque experience for early risers.
Really beautiful during sunrise.

Playground
Sandos Playacar in Playa del Carmen offers not just one, but two water parks for families to enjoy. The main water park is conveniently located next to the main pool and beach, while a smaller aqua park can be found in the family room section. These attractions are perfect for keeping the little ones entertained during your stay.
Fun and entertaining

Small, horrible, service is horrific, everyone has a frown, no one to help. Only one trolly for the entire area. El gaucho was truly disgusting!!! Truly the worst experience of my life.

33Grand Riviera Casino

Casino
The Grand Riviera Casino cannot be equated to a European casino, but it merits a higher rating. The staff is amiable and there were no charges on winnings. I played American roulette without any errors. It could use some tidiness and organization, but overall the atmosphere is acceptable, particularly when Mexican patrons are present.
This place is the best. Great staff and bartenders. Games are fun and you can play for a while. Better than many of the casinos we have in small town USA.
Justin J — Google review
Small casino. Just a few tables and slot machines. 10% tax when you put money to the playing card and 10% when you receive cash from the card and chips. You have to pay for the drinks despite its all-inclusive resort. Stuff is polite and professional. Winning rates are low and depend on the day of the week.
Andrey V — Google review
Easy to open a players card with a driver's license. When exchanging money of say $3000 pesos, you pay $3120 pesos and when you insert your card you only have $2700. Service was very good, be prepared to smell like cigarettes.
Curry R — Google review
Great attention and hospitality! A lot of kindness and professionalism. Didier and the other employees offer a very warm welcome every time. I can only honestly recommend this place! I like to spend my money and play here😎😁😉
Szilvia C — Google review
They scammed my friend and I on the roulette table. We each had a handful of chips on a single number and it hit and when the dealer put the marker down she intentionally slid the chips over so it showed as it was half and half. The pit boss then refused to acknowledge it or look at the cameras as we requested. Definitely a scam casino. You should go to the WinPot as they treat you fairly.
Troy B — Google review
Sometimes then are a little bit late to open ,there supposed to be open at 10:00am well it's 10:11am and I'm still outside haven't got in yet ,but I've played here a lot and I'd say you've got a good chance of winning and it does have newer version games but it really depends on you if you have enough sense to cash out after your $ doubles but having said that ,that's the case with any casino
Michael — Google review
Very small in size and smokey. Handful of clot machines and 3-4 table games. When getting cash converted to players card for slot money they charge you 7% upfront to load money and then another 10% to get cash off the card from winnings. Have to buy drinks as well. Came to visit Mexico from the USA and didn’t have any expectations going in. Definitely something to see if visiting but don’t play.
Clay F — Google review
10% and weird employees. Charged for drinks when you are clearly playing. Same ol thing in Player Carmen, they play You!
