One of the best museums I've seen in a while. Relatively big and a lot of interactive expositions. You can learn a lot(if you understand Portuguese) about the history of the region

This is a betiful building on the main square. The museum has a permanent Salgado exhibition, this is a spectacular showcase of his work. There are exhibits that explain the history of the area. Many in English as well as Portuguese. A great place to visit to understand the area.

Awesome museum with very interactive exhibitions with english note cards!!!

When I went there, only a small fraction of the palace was open, rest was closed for renovations and performance that night. Turned out to be a compete downer. Giving the benefit of doubt.

Always great shows, and plenty of different venues. The main theater is very comfortable and great for operas. The acoustics are excellent. The central location is also really good, and it's usually possible to park at the avenue in front of it after 8:00 p.m.

A beautiful building that hosts some really nice art exhibits. Being near the municipal park, it is home to a few stray cats in the lower cafe. All are friendly. Sometimes you find a few strange people wondering around, but all in all it is a nice central location to meet with friends.

beautiful modern art, lovely layout, and a cafeteria downstairs that has cat visitors and a lunch option for a very modest price (I recall 13 reais for a plate of food with rice meat potatoes and greens)

Seats are old and uncomfortable. People film during show and no staff around to stop them. The air-conditioning is never turned on so it is hot as hell.

One of the most traditional venues for concerts and theater of the city. Film festivals and all kinds of art exhibits ard also held here.

Great park. Paid parking. Free bus inside the park to get around. Nice lookout point to see BH. Decent services: restrooms and free bus. Well maintained. Sort of dislike the uneven atone paths as they're harder to walk on for long times and our toddler nearly fell quite a few times. Still, great spot for a walk. Lovely place to visit.

I guess it's usually a decent sized park area, but right now they have reduced access due to an outbreak of yellow fever at the end of 2017. The area which is still accessible is well kept and there are several sports areas, a skate park and a playground. We even saw some wildlife, which was obviously attracted by a possible opportunity to get fed by the tourists. A star deducted because the guard wouldn't let me use my little drone.

A lovely spot in the town

Lack of information, few useful signs. There was a sign pointing to "information" at the gate but could find no information office. No map of the park at the entrance. There is a cobbled road leading up the hill from the main gate. There are maps alongside the road indicating a 5km route but after less than 2km there is a closed gate. There was a member of park staff there, she said it had been closed for 2 years but did not seem to know why. Perhaps they might amend their signage. There is a trail through the trees that leaves from the far side of the entrance behind the furthest stalls. The final part is steeper than the road. It joins the road about halfway up. There is a mirante near the end of the road, it has a great view of the forest and the city below. There is a park bus that runs up to the top of the road from the park entrance. No signage but seemed to go up a down about every half hour or so. Got some coconut water from a stall. It was in a container as they said coconuts were not allowed in the park (!). Tasted weird, threw most away but now have bad stomach. Despite all the gripes (park authorities could easily make it better for visitors) the walk up the hill through the trees was pleasant and the view from the top was great.

From other times I have visited it has gone a bit downhill but I think this was the pandemic and recommend people visit to help bring it back to its former glory.

Best place to have some walk or jog and have some fresh air. Huge park, with cool amenities such as skate pipe, kids' playground and more.

A place that everybody that came to BH have to visit.

I went to my first football game here and it was amazing. I didn’t even like football (scoccer) before and now I’m addicted. The energy from the Cruzeiro fans is amazing. Never seen it heard anything like it in my life. I just have one problem. The VIP section isn’t that great. I paid R 750 for premium seats ( Hall Principal 203 VIP) and it didn’t come with food or drinks. One the website it said it would. I was pretty upset at first but honestly the game was so good I forget about it after an hour.

The second biggest stadium in Brazil! Home of Cruzeiro, the best Brazilian soccer team in Century XX. Great stadium!

The museum focuses on things people used for work. That might sound boring but it is really fascinating. The collection is large and everything is in excellent condition. This is a must-visit if you are in BH.

Excellent free museum in converted classical old railway station. A real window into the past of life in Minas. Eclectic collection of objects from agricultural and industrial processes from small to massive, with even a couple of complete old shops. One enduring mystery, why do Brazilian museum cafes always sell the worst cup of coffee?

If you want to taste the soul of Minas Gerais, Mercado Central de Belo Horizonte is mandatory. Since 1929 this indoor market has occupied an entire city block and grown into a cultural hub with over 400 stalls offering food, crafts, produce, cachaça, and more. The tradition of Queijo de Minas, recently recognized by UNESCO as part of Brazil’s intangible cultural heritage, is everywhere. You will find every variation fresh, semi aged, and aged made and sold by local cheesemakers. Walking through the aisles, you see that this is not just commerce. It is a snapshot of Minas’s diversity, where vendors of Portuguese, African, and local heritage sell side by side. You hear local accents, smell roasting coffee, and taste sweets like doce de leite or goiabada. Wow! This market is enormous and has everything! They have all kinds of foods, antiques, souvenirs, cafes, bars, spices, sauces, household items, and even animals! A must visit!

Great place to visit and shop. Lots of restaurants and bars. Some markets but this is not the place for local produce. Tried to find great Pao de Queijo but everything was average.

It’s a cool cool spot. There were some artisan hippies in there. I bought a cool little ring from and they have like an awesome gem museum on one side of the park on the other side. They have like an art museum. It’s like the old governors mansion it’s really spectacular a lot of history a lot of beauty overall just a gorgeous park in area.

Beautiful place for a stroll, any time of day. Bonus if you read up on the historical value of the buildings you see surrounding the park itself. Sidenote: there's a very kind man just off the south side of the park, on Avenida Cristovao Colombo, who sells chicletes and other boxed treats from his wheelchair, to passing motorists. He's been selling from this very same corner, from his wheelchair, for over 30 years.

Beautiful park both during the day and at night. Very cool museums and sights around the border. Look out for free entry days into the museums!

Beautiful square in the center of Belo Horizonte inspired on the gardens of the Versailles palace, it is one of the most relevant ones. It has the so called cultural circuit around it, including different museums, knowledge institutions and at least one theater. The CCBB (cultural center of Banco do Brasil) stays nearby and is a must do visit. Also notice the wavy building, it is Oscar Niemeyer’s project. And such a beautiful one. The palm trees lane is so beautiful!

Beautiful lake. Best to walk in the afternoon, with a beautiful church , park , theme park, and restaurants, also close to the soccer arena.

Nice place to go for a walk/cycle in BH. There are a few nice places to stop. The lake is 18Km.. There aren't many places to eat or get snacks, so if you want to eat, bring a picnic.

A very beautiful park in the heart of Belo Horizonte with some stunning trees. It is very large with over 180.000m² with many tropical plants. Its history goes back a long way and some of the trees are over 120 years old. It doesn't open on Mondays.

Lovely city park that is kept fairly clean...seems to interesting events every time I visit. Nice park!

Nice park. I have visited this park several times for running from the hotel. The park presents some good uphills and downhills, several lakes and public bathrooms. On Sunday, it is extremely busy but other days it is fine. Furthermore there are tennis courts and basketball court. Unfortunately they could keep it cleaner and tider than it is in reality.

It's always good to find some green in the middle of a big city. The park is quite beautiful, but lacks some upkeeping. Or perhaps, that was the impression after a long holiday of visitors littering around.

It’s a beautiful museum with multimedia experiences. It’s largely in Portuguese so like me if you don’t speak the language you will lose most of the experience. The tours are not guided. Free entry

Nice views but the park is not well maintained. You can also visit a couple of national parks nearby.

Elegant architectural landmark by Oscar Niemeyer that opens up to the lake and showcases the beauty of Pampulha, including its romantic sunsets.

The architecture is very interesting, the surroundings are very well kept and the view of the lake is very picture worthy. The cafe is a little pricey but good, but the most interesting thing is the acoustic of the room. Stand in the center of the circle and speak or sing and your voice is amplified.

Its a lovely place to visist by day and have a coffee appreciating the beautiful view of Pampulha Lake. At evening you can grab a drink with your friends ans hear some local music.

Great place to visit its free and it has a lovely garden. The museum is all in Portuguese though, but the pictures show Brazil’s diversity!

Great green space in Belo Horizonte. A bit under utilized at the moment as most of the offerings were closed and some spaces like the medicinal garden were in poor condition. However, it's great if you are wanting a bit of walk or even run in nature within the city limits. Perhaps even bring a book and read under the trees. We had the place pretty much to ourselves during the week and only encountered the people working in the park.

Nice place to do "trilhas" and walk a bit, every visit to the jardim botânico is different, because of people who takes you throught, mainly interns of areas as biology, antropology and tourism; different points of view. Liked the idea of the sensorial garden, you can taste, touch, and smell plans that we all know as a final product, but during their growing :p

It's a unique local attraction and the artist who made it through the years was so dedicated. It's a must-see place in Belo Horizonte.

If you're a student and have more than 21 years old, please check before if you have the correct one student identification. They obligated everyone with half entrance to complement the payment to enter, even with the student identification provided by the educational institution. The place is amazing, but the treatment is the worst I ever seen. PS: I've entered with my student identification provided by the university in 2 world cup games and a lot of music shows around my state.

Marvelous, a well constructed and equally restored theater. I have fond memories of this land mark. As a child in the early 60's I frequented on a regular basis this majestic movie house. today it' maintains the same level of comfort achieved in it's past. Let us hope it can maintain this glamour forever. If you are visiting Belo Horizonte for pleasure, business or just simply passing through, don't miss the opportunity to familiarize with this giant and even better, enjoy a show , movie or other spectacle on the occasion.

The church is very beautiful located on the lagoon. You can walk or bike (there is bicycle for rent) around and enjoy the atmosphere.

One of the first and nicest takes of Niemeyer on designing a church. Despite its small size it totally feels like a masterpiece of organic, sinuous architecture. The location, at the tip of land in an artificial lake, surrounded by beautiful landscaping and the interior design (with wall paintings and pictures by Portinary) add to the overall effect. An unmissable visit in Belo Horizonte.

This church, designed by Oscar Niemeyer with gardens by Burle Marx and stunning panels by Cândido Portinari, is more than just a place of worship: it’s an architectural landmark. Overall, I have really mixed feelings about this place. The surrounding landscape and neighborhood feels really nice and could potentially afford a high quality of life. The church itself looks good and its architectural relevance for Brazil has been pointed out by many people. So if I were to evaluated this place just on that basis, it would be a 5/5. That said, as this is part of a UNESCO world heritage ensemble, the standards have to be higher than just being a nice building with some history. It has to have relevance to the world. And if you compare this church to many of the amazing churches in Europe, or many of the other amazing world heritage sites, it is massively underwhelming. As some people are traveling the world to see monuments of great significance, one can only warn them that they should likely not plan a trip to Belo Horizonte (or Brazil) just for this sight. If you are in the area anyways, sure, it’s worth to check out but I would not recommend to go out of your way to visit it. On the plus side, lots of public street parking was available— which is a rare feat for many UNESCO world heritage sites.

Stunning church by Pampulha Lake. Very out of the box design with some of the most beautiful tiles I’ve ever seen. It’s pretty hard to miss if you are ever visiting the Pampulha Lake because the design literally calls your attention. Simply incredible!

Wow. This entire visit that included the lake area was super underwhelming. Full of trash and discarded coconuts, unkept gardens and total lack of esthetics. Give it a pass.

Mirante do Mangabeiras is an absolute gem in Belo Horizonte! Located at the edge of the Serra do Curral, this scenic overlook offers breathtaking panoramic views of the entire city —especially stunning at sunset. It’s a peaceful and well-maintained spot, perfect for photos, relaxation, and connecting with nature. The walkway and viewing platforms are safe and accessible, and there’s often a refreshing breeze that makes the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommended for visitors and locals alike who want to experience BH from above!

Nice place to watch the sunset, rather simple and most of the time crowed, but the view is worth it.

We went here for a lovely end to the day during a birthday celebration for my husband - 30 years! It was so inspiring and beautiful. Everyone there was in awe of the cloud and the view created by the Almighty! The birds are singing, and there was a crowd of interesting black birds with red spots in their necks. It feels like nature can rest here! And we can, too. If you are looking for a peaceful addition to your date or family outing, look no further!

Who doesn’t like view points !!! From this place we can visualize the city of Belo Horizonte and enjoy its view. We don’t need any tickets to purchase. It’s absolutely free. We cannot drive with car to this point; we need to park the car at the entrance and walk a bit. The sunset from this point will be stunning and worth the visit.

GREAT SUNSET VIEWS!!! If you want to get the views of entire Belo Metropolis area while enjoying the stunning sunset, this is the place for you. The park is open from Dusk to Dawn. The gated location is easily accessible by Uber followed by a short walk to the viewing area. There is no entry fee for the park! The area is clean, safe and family friendly. However the only thing missing is there are no food stalls. So plan to bring drinking water and snacks to enjoy with the view! There are public restrooms but those are not too clean either. Overall a little inconvenient but the views definitely make up for it!

Amazing views of the city, a taste of exclusive lifestyle passing nearby manicured villas, and an exhilarating zipline jump, for about R$60 if you dare! The Mirante is free to the public, had public bathrooms, and nearby vendors selling snacks and drinks. A very hilly climb up from the Parque das Mangabeiras, so drive, or wear comfortable shoes.

Beautiful construction and wonderful location overlooking the lake. The museum is also a good starting point to take a walk along the lake river. There are several animals that you can spot walking in the small garden of the museum. No WiFi available.

Magestic building thanks to genius Oscar Niemeyer, although the exhibit wasn't that interesting and it is quite small. Hard to get there if you are not driving there. They could do something more interesting with the cafeteria, since it was empty and I was really looking for a soda...

The modern museum is part of Pampulha's architectural complex and one more exemple of Oscar Niemeyer 'avant garde' work. Its gardens by the lagoon and the view deserve pictures. Look for informations about the project Domingo no Museu (Sunday at the Museum) and you'll have your best sunday morning in BH. The first sunday of each month the museum has a concert at the big saloon, always with eclectical artists that play the true brazilian music.

A little empty but the place is worth the trip from the center

Great place, full of old world charme.

The inside it's stunning. They have a cafe so it's pretty convenient. At the left side of the entrance there's a gift shop with really cool things, including raw minerals, necklaces, pendants, and everything you could think of. Good assistance.

A fabulous museum for minerals. The collection is amazing and is totally free to visit. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The museum is neat and clean. I visited here on Friday and there were less people in the building . The museum consists of 3 floors and top 2 floors are stunning with the exhibits. This is a house for every geologist.

Great museum, free to enter. I only went in to escape the sun but really happy I did. Interesting exhibits with lots of interactive displays. Will definitely visit again if I'm in BH

This could of been a 4 star but staff closes the 3rd floor quite early (almost 20 min early). Nice minerals and metals but they need to respect the hours of opening. Disappointing to see that the staff in this museum (Unlike many others) do not respect hours of operations. However, it is free.

The museum and the interactions are so good, you can touch a Cristal and a meteorite ! The gold mine elevator is awesome, but they say anything about Opala

Premises look very unkept, although there was so many staff members as well as security and even army people present. Zoo animals are in very good condition. Botanical is non existing and embarrassing as so many gardeners around and it was dry and terribly neglected. The lion alone is worth a visit he loves to chat. Snakes are amazing in size and great variety of snakes, also well kept. Entrance of Zoo from the road is enough to scare you away! The premises are very big be prepared to walk a lot.

Overall I was pretty disappointed with this zoo. There are some parts that look nice but some parts are clearly not well kept. The botanical garden looks pretty much abandoned. Most of the animals are hiding, I could even see the gorillas. The bathrooms are disgusting. I will admit that the price to enter is insanely cheap though.

Lovely animals from South America,specially the birds. The Gorillas are impressive. Bring repellant on summer months. They should raise the prices to improve maintenance. Too cheap. £5.10 for 2 adults and three children. £45 at London Zoo.

Very cool place to visit if you are in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. It is a good way to travel back in time and also to get to know some of the prehistoric species that used to live in the south American region and Brazil. It's a nice place to bring young kids and people interested in museums. Totally recommend it!

I give it 2 stars due to the fact it is 3 stories high. The lack of information in all of their exhibits is uncanny, as if all of us are anthropologists or biologists. Come prepared with your biology books, unless you were looking for a place to take pictures of replicas. Also, bring a flashlight just in case the lights go out as it did in my case, seems that the generators are only for emergency lights only.

Incredible collection of brazilian exotic animals by Peter Lund, a naturalist from Denmark. Replics of elephants, dynosaurs, a lot of butterfly, a real whale and others non brazilian. Great place to visit with family and friends. Nice price per person (local money).

Good for kids on vacation. The staff is very good with kids. The skeletons and fossils are awe-inspiring.

The house is not as large as I expected. The furnishings are especially interesting. I grew up in the USA in the 1960s and it reminded me of those times. There could be more information in English for visitors like me who don't speak much Portuguese.

The former home of then mayor J. Kubitschek. It's a great place to visit and admire the building, designed by Oskar Niemeyer, as well as the interior of Kubitschek's house. Entrance is free.

We love the House, the History and the very nice Staff!! Don't miss it if are interested in the personal life of JK.

Adore this home. The modernist style is one of the best in my opinion. Simple, minimalist and clever functional home along with the furniture.

Firts of all this is a place for architecture and design lovers, like myself. The garden and the interior are overall well preserved. Eventhough we can not touch any furniture it is totally worth the visit. If I could make a suggestion I would say that would be amazing to have there a coffe shop.

Casa Kubitschek is a place where one can travel to another era. 1940's modernist architecture and furniture combined with ambient music and the smell of the amazing garden are an invitation to Belo Horizonte's golden years. It is definetely worth a visit. I recommend adding a small coffee shop, it would make the experience even better.

I used to live across the street, near Praca Alaska. I would go to Park JK every once in a while. At the the time there wasn't much to do there except walk around the periphery of the park. I see that now there are more things to do there, especially for children. Unfortunately, I was mugged there. Some hooligan ripped the earphones off my head and grapped my cd player out of my hand, the ran towards the favela. So, all I can say is be careful and avoid the interior of the park. I was mugged just after walking around the soccer field. :)

There’s really no reason to call this a cultural center, because there’s nothing really cultural about it except that it hosts theater productions and live music shows. I was unclear if there was any art or cultural experiences besides those here. Went there for Duca Leindecker's concert. I had a very nice view from the second zone Platea. Amazing sound too.
