Theme park
Beach Park is a spectacular resort destination located just 30 minutes from downtown Fortaleza, nestled along the stunning Porto das Dunas Beach. This expansive water park boasts thrilling rides, including a jaw-dropping 14-story waterslide that launches you into a pool at exhilarating speeds. For those seeking relaxation, the park features serene spots like private cabanas and an open-air restaurant serving delicious seafood dishes.
Always a great time. Made me feel like a teenager again!

Great Family-Friendly Beach Spot with Aqua Park We had a lovely time visiting this beach — it’s a fantastic destination for families. The beach itself is very clean, safe, and spacious, offering plenty of room for both swimming and playing. Water is Cristal clear. Just a heads-up: if you want to sit at a table with chairs near the beach, there is a fee. There are two seating options available: VIP Area – Costs ₹900 just for the table; food and drinks are charged separately. Regular Area – Costs $90 for the table, but you can use as many chairs as needed, which is perfect if you’re visiting with a larger group. Charges for table use usually begin between 12:30 PM and 3:30 PM, depending on the day. Beach Aqua Park — fun for all ages! The entry fee varies by season; in July, it was $300 per person. Toilets are clean and tegere is a cleaner who is there all day. Food is great as well but you need to expect to pay more than if you would eat outside. We actually found a great place to eat nearby it was cheaper than on the beach . All in all, a great place to relax and enjoy a family day out by the water.
Rihards K — Google review
Going to the Beach Park in Fortaleza is an experience that I would recommend across the board. They are one of the largest water parks in the world with attractions that span the range from low to extreme intensity. I’ve had the opportunity to go there a few times as a child and went again now as an adult and it was just as fun as I remembered. Good: 1 - Excellent service. Employees are polite and knowledgeable. 2 - Lot’s of food options. 3 - Queues are not too long. 4 - Several options of attractions. 5 - Great layout with distribution of food/beverage kiosks, high/low intensity rides and pools distributed throughout. 6 - Easy access from hotel complexes. To Improve: 1 - The power went out when I was there. It took around 10 minutes for the attraction I was at to normalize. This is lack of proper engineering or configuration of the backup systems. A diesel generator should kick-in and stabilize within 1 minute of a power outage. Moreover, given that power to the attractions is essential to the proper operation of the park, they should have a UPS battery backup to sustain the park for a duration long enough for generators to kick in. 2 - The meat/bacon burger at the Beach Burger kiosk was bad. Dry and hard. Almost inedible. The chicken option was much better. 3 - A few attractions were closed. I understand this can happen. However, this needs to be informed extremely well to park goers. Ideally in a language that humanizes the situation. “Sorry, our pump is sick today but the attraction will be up in x days”. 4 - The lazy river was weaker than I expected. There were less pumps on? 5 - The Hupa/Hopa was not doing the water discharge to speed up the attraction as it used to. 6 - No way to keep track of time when around park since there are no clocks. Add some? Even though I am giving the park a 5-star review, I hope that the feedback can be put to use. If Beach Park plans on becoming “the Disney of Brazil” nothing short of perfect is enough.
Paulo — Google review
The toys are really nice, and the park is well maintained. Quite safe for kids. Though i believe the park is more enjoyable for kids older than 10. I give 2 stars because they made me lose 1h15m advertising a travel package scheme that i didn’t want to sign. I arrived at 1pm and the park closes at 5pm, so i lost 30EUR! (3 adults 2 children). Also they messed up my tickets. Because i didn’t have to pay for an autistic child companion and they made me pay. Both employees were rude and didn’t inform me correctly. So in the end i only enjoyed 2h45min.
Fernando M — Google review
The beach is absolutely amazing and the water park has a lot of attractions. Also it is not that busy so the waiting time is decent.
Andreea T — Google review
The beach park offers a vast expanse with a wide array of activities suitable for a diverse age range spanning from three-year-olds to those in their sixties. Our visit to the park took place on a weekend, and despite the large crowd, waiting times for most activities were surprisingly short. Safety was a top priority, evident in the presence of numerous vigilant lifeguards stationed throughout the park. They were extremely dedicated to their roles. Personally, my most exhilarating experience was the "Insano," which provided a thrilling adrenaline rush.
Diego ( — Google review
Beautiful park, very well run, and the slides are excellent! My family and I had a great visit.
Jerry S — Google review
A really fun place to visit but very busy and there were long queues for everything, including food outlets. We only managed 4 rides in the entire time we were there. It is only open from 11am to 5 pm. 5 stars if we went on a quiet day!

Praia do Futuro is a popular seaside destination in Fortaleza, Brazil. It is known for its clean waters, making it ideal for swimming and attracting surfers with its strong waves. The beach stretches for four miles and offers beach chairs, umbrellas, food vendors, and eateries. Visitors can enjoy the megabarracas that provide various amenities such as restrooms, showers, kiddie water parks, and live entertainment stages.
Very nice for kite surfers and surfers lovely aerea do not be there at night there's a favelas near by

I would not recommend this place AT ALL! it is the worst beach I've been to in my life and I've been around the world. It smells like sewage and feces which is unbearable. Also as many people mentioned there is someone trying to sell you something every 2 mins..
Daniel M — Google review
Beautiful beach with all the power the ocean has to offer on display, careful about hanging around after dark
Gabriele F — Google review
Be careful, there are some areas where you have to pay for the table and chairs. Ask before you sit down. I think it’s a scam to pay for the table
Sven G — Google review
Lots of water, I don't recommend drinking it though, cuz it might taste a little salty. The sand tastes alright though
Davi S — Google review
Awesome beach for relaxing and enjoying the beach clubs there. The water isn't the best for a swim due to waves and clarity.
Raul A — Google review
Nice beach, but you need to pay attention on possible, though not probable, thefts. Don't be fooled by the constant winds (especially between August and October) or even partly cloudy days: the sun is treacherous and really burns here. Take tons of sunscreen with you.
Michael R — Google review
Very good beach. Maybe the best one in Fortaleza. However, you have to be careful for the criminals. There are a lot of pickpockets, stickups and armed robbery. It is safe if you come only for a bath and enjoy the sun without anything in your hands or inside your pockets. Bring only your hotel key and nothing else.

Beautiful, tranquil, central, and historic. A must-see if staying in Fortaleza. Great for couples and families with children. About a 10 minute walk from the Metropolitan Cathedral of Fortaleza and close to numerous other sites and areas. Highly recommend!

It is a Nice place for art. Unfortunately the Spots and the places are Not Very good indicated, we got a little bit Lost.
Elisa C — Google review
The whole facilities are under major upgrading at the moment. There is in fact not much to see now.
Desmond H — Google review
The place was staffed, but closed for reconstruction and no indication of that prior to have saved the trip going there. According to the Uber Driver they want to open in two month (November 2025) again, but from the progress of the reconstruction (none), that seems to be very ambitious. Beside that, the area is not safe to walk and there’s nothing much else to do. All in all, it was a great disappointment.
Andreas K — Google review
In need of maintenance/update. Too little expositions. Stores closed. No energy at this place unfortunately. Expected a little more.
ScotchRacer — Google review
The exhibitions were cool! But it was hard to get around there because there weren't any signs. There's a nice looking cafe, but it opens at 3pm. It was very empty during day time but that was nice.

Market
Handicraft
Mercado Central de Fortaleza is a bustling multi-level covered market that has been a city landmark since 1809. While it started as a place for meat, fruits, and vegetables, it has evolved into a hub for local crafts and souvenirs. The market's architecture is an attraction in itself, with its curvy walkways and modern design. With over 600 stores spread across four floors, visitors can find everything from artisan handicrafts to local products like caju nuts.
This is the place to get your souvenirs, don't shop on the beach as you're going to be taxed. I walked aeay with 4 decorated bottles of alchohol, 6 purses, 2 shirts, 10 bags of brazilian flavored nuts, 6 sweet bars, and a couple other things fir only $72 US.
Daniel P — Google review
variety but extremely hot place to visit. Barely any of the fans works and the it also feels a bit dangerous as some of the metal bridges are worn and with holes.
Everton S — Google review
Very nice for buying local products and handicraft on a nice price. Though I would definitely recommend speaking at least a bit of Spanish/Portuguese. It didn't seem like English was an option. I would also recommend the juice stand on the ground floor as they have juice from several local fruits.
David A — Google review
For all the gringos. Great spot to check out local confection/embroidery, super cheap. Also nuts like Brazil nut and cashews. Definitely worth the trip.
Arthur W — Google review
This an absolutely amazing market!!! Products from all over Brazil. Shop for deals! Many of the same items are available in various parts of the market. Make sure leather is actually leather. Enjoy the delicious goat meat and friendly people! Careful outside.
Matt G — Google review
A very nice place for everyone to come here for souvenirs. Venue is big and easy to stroll around.
Desmond H — Google review
Very interesting and massive market over four floors in a sort of massive atrium. Mostly clothes, shoes, bags, some foods and local carved figures. Couple of kilo restaurants inside too.
Paul D — Google review
As any market with this style, sales people will be approaching you all the time during your walk around the market. If you get used to it , then you have a quite enjoyable experience. You can find almost everything that you can buy from Fortaleza and the people are willing to negotiate prices( of course in PORTUGUESE) and support you! As a Brazilian I liked to visit and see the market, but I am not a fan of people pushing products to me or asking me all the time for what I want to Shop, etc. Nevertheless, it's the environment culture and let's respect it and enjoy it! Please visit and support local shopping staff, it will certainly be worth it!☺️

Performing arts theater
Theatro José de Alencar is a historic architectural landmark located in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil. Built in 1910 and restored in the early 1990s, it boasts an ornate art-nouveau facade and can accommodate up to 120 people. The theater hosts regular performances and is attached to a large annex housing the Teatro Morro do Ouro and Centro de Artes Cenicas - CENA.
I visited the theater and the botanical gardens yesterday afternoon. What a marvelous place. And I was so impressed that the wrought iron was made in Belfast Ireland and sent here
John D — Google review
Beautiful old building which pays homage to Jose de Alencar, one of the most famous writers in Brazil. Although the gardens and part of theatre is open to the public, the best way is to go on a guided trip (Portuguese only) and you will have an excellent opportunity to visit one of the most beautiful theatres of Brazil Concerts are often free and tickets distributed on a first come first served basis (about 1 hour/45min before the actual show)
Rose V — Google review
Great theater 🎭 with air conditioning inside. The chairs are a bit old a uncomfortable so bringing a cushion would be a good idea 💡
Yoshi H — Google review
Beautiful theatre made from steel from UK
Claudio S — Google review
Such a beautiful theatre that retains it's ancient design.
Blessing O — Google review
One of the greatest symbols of the Ceara culture is this theater that preserves on its name the spelling of the prominent Brazilian author “José de Alencar”. It was built between 1908 and 1910 with the budget from the cotton exportation. The “Belle Époque”, context when Fortaleza lived a progress mixed with glamor from French inspiration, influenced the architecture of the José de Alencar Theater. Originally, it was designed to be a garden theater, but the garden was only ready in 1975. Currently, the theater hosts plays and shows in addition to a performing arts school.
Claudemir A — Google review
Very interesting statue for José de Alencar in the middle of this square. It was designed by famous Humberto Cozzo (1900-1981). The writer is seated, a rather traditional pose and the painels in bronze are not that interesting. But the depictions of a cat and, the head of an indian and the piedestal as well are pure art deco. Be aware of prostitutes around the place. But as there are also a large number of policemen around, it's not that risky to walk around. At least not during the middle of the day.
Decuypere W — Google review

For those seeking more exclusivity and comfort, there's a private lounge area with sofas and an infinity pool with dedicated waitstaff.
We went on a Sunday, very busy place, still fast and pleasurable service from Antonia. the only let down it was the lack of enough showers around to take the sand of our bodies after a dip in the sea.
Everton S — Google review
I’ve visited here before and enjoyed it. Very safe and a comfortable place to relax by the beach. Food is of good quality, lots of Brazilian food options. Drink prices are very good and so is the quality. There will be lots of vendors who visit you off the beach. Just be kind if you do not want to buy anything. A smile goes a long way.
Brett R — Google review
On the beach, there are constantly street vendors who are very bothersome, and the prices are a bit high compared to the quality of the food served. It could definitely improve a lot more. The quality of the services is low but still within the average of Northeast Brazilian quality
Gualtiero T — Google review

Francesco G — Google review
It was a quick visit while I had a local tour. It is very similar to an "all inclusive" hotel, but the difference is that you have to pay for the food. LOL.. unfortunately I did not stay at this place to contribute more, but I know they charge $10 reais for you to sit and enjoy the area (you can see that in one of my pictures attachedbto my review). For those who have kids, I believe it's a great option.

The beach is beautiful, well-maintained, and perfect for walking, relaxing, or just enjoying the scenery. I tried incredible tapioca and refreshing coconut water while watching the sunset... priceless! 😍 I felt safe the whole time, and the atmosphere is very family-friendly. It's also super well-located, close to good hotels and other tourist spots. Definitely a place I would return to again and again. Highly recommended! (Translated by Google) This place is magnificent for walking, sunbathing and swimming. From early on they prepare the umbrellas and chairs to be able to enjoy the beach day that begins very early since at 5 p.m. The sun is already beginning to set. The beach falls sharply and this means that you can swim in the sea that is clean and warm. I want to emphasize that the water is very pleasant and does not leave your skin sticky. What caught my attention is that there is only one lifeguard who walks along the shore from end to end. This may be why swimmers enter the sea with a type of float tied to their waist with a strap. The water temperature is magnificent and gives me the feeling of swimming in a heated pool. They constantly clean the sand of waste and provide you with a bag for collecting it. Along it there are stalls with a wide variety of drinks and also products to eat. The sunset is wonderful and leads you to take many photos.

The Catedral Metropolitana de Fortaleza is a historic Gothic cathedral inspired by the famous Cologne Cathedral. Built between 1937 and 1963, it boasts stately architectural features such as towering spires reaching 75 meters high. The interior accommodates up to 5,000 worshippers and showcases beautiful stained glass windows. Despite its grimy exterior, the interiors gleam brilliant white.
Gorgeous exterior. Simple interior. The Metropolitana Cathedral is absolutely gorgeous and worth the visit! I will say, the outside was more beautiful than the inside. The cathedral is a wonderful place to sit down, relax, and recharge however the interior aesthetic is very simple and even run-down in many areas. Construction is currently underway as of March 2020 so hopefully this improves the visitor experience. Still a 5/5 in my book. A must-see when visiting Fortaleza. Just watch out for beggars outside the main entrance!

I saw some people mentioning vendors trying to push their products, but our experience wasn't like that. It was quite peaceful inside, and you have a great view of the stained glass windows. But I agree there's nothing around pointing to the history of the building, which is a shame.
David A — Google review
Beautiful place. But there is nothing that tells you the history of the place, how it was built, etc. like a sign or paper at the entrance. You need to search the internet yourself. And there are sellers around trying to force you to buy things, putting objects on you to force you to buy. It's not worth the visit.

(Translated by Google) One of the few tourist attractions in the region that really lives up to its hype. It's not hard to find transportation or companies that will take you there. I don't recommend taking a taxi or Uber if you're in Fortaleza, as the price will be high. There's a large parking lot at the park (for a fee), but if you're lucky, you can park nearby. The beach in front is clean, you don't feel the insecurity that hangs over other beaches in the region, and you're not approached every 5 minutes by street vendors like you do at Praia do Futuro (nothing against the industry, but sometimes, depending on the day, you can't have a conversation without being constantly interrupted). The support structure of the tent is excellent, very organized, and offers a pleasant sunset with an incredible soundtrack. However, if you want to try the region's coastal cuisine, it's better to go to the tents on neighboring beaches (like Praia do Japão), as the price will be fairer. The hotel chain is excellent and highly recommended for those who want to enjoy the park, as there are packages that include admission. The price is high, but it is in line with the standard of the structure (if you want to save money, it is better to stay in Fortaleza or rent a vacation home). The water park is always busy, but never so crowded that it becomes unbearable (the worst that happens is that you have to wait a little longer to get on the main attractions). There are rides for all tastes/ages and there are even areas for those who don't like rides. If you are visiting the region for the first time, this is a must-see, especially if you have children. Note: The park does not accept pets.

Embark on a boat trip on the Rio Coco in Fortaleza for an unforgettable experience. The tour includes visits to stunning beaches like Lagoinha and Praia de Iracema, offering a quick yet informative journey guided by Mr. Araujo, who has been providing valuable insights to visitors for decades. Despite the wait and limited capacity, the service is praised for its efficiency and friendliness.
Book the 2h hours trip. It's amazing!

No English but some police helped us translate, we paid 10 each and the ride was very short just between two bridges, but gave us a unique view of the park. Water was like soup and quite smelly. Made me wonder if it changes a lot with the seasons.

I went there today but in spite of an early hour it was closed. The walking trail through the park was closed too.

(Translated by Google) Very good, especially the part where the boatman tells the story of the river and the importance of proper waste disposal. 10/10, we will definitely go again. (Original) Muito bom, principalmente a parto que o senhor do barco conta a história do rio e a importância do descarte correto do lixo 10/10 iremos novamente com certeza.

(Translated by Google) I was delighted and surprised by the excellent service via WhatsApp and in person! The ride lasts approximately 20 minutes and costs R$10 for a full ticket (payment via PIX or debit). I waited in line for an hour, as they only take 15 people at a time and there were many people that day, but the wait was manageable. There are no restrooms on site, only in the main part of the park. I highly recommend the ride! Indico demais o passeio!
