Unity Park, located within the National Palace of Ethiopia, is a newly opened attraction that offers visitors a unique opportunity to explore the grounds that were once off-limits. The park features cultural attractions such as a museum, banquet hall, and the former palace complex of Emperor Menelik II. Visitors can also enjoy a small zoo with rare black-maned lions and pavilions representing different regions of Ethiopia. Additionally, there are historical tours available to learn more about the country's rich heritage.
Beautiful park, takes at least a couple of hours to visit fully. It has a zoo (included in the entrance ticket) and many buildings to visit. It will give you a lot of information about Ethiopia and its history. A must see! For foreigners, the ticket costs 18 $.

Beautiful park, very secure and worth every minute. It has a variety of animals, good restaurants and easy to go around. It takes a few hours to complete the full circle but worth every time, you get to check out the History and the artefacts.

Unity Park – A Beautiful Experience in Addis Ababa Unity Park is a wonderful place to visit! It’s a nice and relaxing spot with a small zoo that includes some of Ethiopia’s famous animals like giraffes, meerkats, lions, jaguars, and a variety of birds. There’s also a small aquarium that adds to the experience. The park has many cafés and ice cream shops perfect for sitting down and enjoying the beautiful views. The gardens are large and full of colorful flowers, making it a peaceful place to walk around and take photos. Overall, I had a very nice experience visiting Unity Park. It’s definitely worth a visit for families, tourists, and anyone who wants to enjoy nature in the heart of Addis Ababa.

Unity Park is a major tourist destination in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It’s located within the Grand Palace grounds and is a beautiful blend of historical, cultural, and modern features. The park is part of the National Palace, and it’s designed to celebrate the rich history and culture of Ethiopia, with various gardens, museums, and impressive architecture. Here’s a possible comment you could leave on Google Maps for Unity Park: "Unity Park is a beautiful and peaceful escape in the heart of Addis Ababa. The park is rich in Ethiopian history and culture, offering visitors a chance to explore Ethiopia’s royal past. From the stunning gardens to the fascinating museum displayed
Zechariah J — Google review
Unity park is one of the higher end parks in Addis. It includes museums about the history of Ethiopia, and zoos featuring zebras, lions, giraffes, wild dogs, baboons, something that lived underground, and fishes. This park also highlighted the different regions and cultures of Ethiopia. The tickets are a bit on the pricey side for foreigners, USD 20 per person (including those with Residents ID). Overall, the park was educational and fun, even for kids.
KKG — Google review
It’s a must visit when you are in Addis . I paid 20 dollars to get in and got to see the residence of Haile Selassie, a castle , a fish aquarium, a zoo with different kinds of animals and interesting architecture of buildings. There restaurants inside too
Cynthia K — Google review
A cultural and historical museum, a zoo, an aquarium and an amazing park all bundled into one huge compound. You can spend a whole day there. You also learn a lot about Ethiopian history and culture. At the zoo, you can see the Black mane lion, peacocks, Zebras, Giraffes among other things. It was my second time visiting and I had an amazing experience.
Muluneh B — Google review
Unity Park is a beautifully envisioned and executed attraction, with a rich weave of history, culture, and natural beauty—right in the heart of Addis Ababa. While some administrative and service challenges remain, the overall experience is often described as enlightening and memorable. If you’re looking for a unique way to engage with Ethiopia’s past and present, it’s certainly worth a visit—with a little preparation.

Entoto Park, located on Mount Entoto in Addis Ababa, is a nature lover's paradise with a variety of activities to enjoy. From ziplining and rope courses to biking and running tracks, the park offers something for everyone. Visitors can also indulge in spa treatments, archery, and dining at local restaurants. The park boasts stunning views of canyons and forests below, making it a romantic destination as well.
Entoto Park offers a serene escape with its beautiful greenery and stunning views. The atmosphere is peaceful, making it a perfect spot for hiking, picnics, or simply relaxing. The well-maintained trails and fresh air provide a refreshing experience, and the panoramic views of the city are breathtaking. A great place to connect with nature!
Maram H — Google review
I don’t go often, but the few times I’ve been to Entoto Park for a morning run were amazing. The air is super fresh, the trails are peaceful, and the views make the whole experience really refreshing. Even if you're not a regular runner, it’s a great place to clear your head and enjoy nature.
Amanuel F — Google review
It's a nice forest so it's a shame that they are charging people 1000 Birr to be in nature. Many areas of the fence to the North are broken so you can essentially walk in there for free. You can't visit the churches from inside the park. And forget about being able to go back to Addis because the ride sharing apps don't work from the gates. I would give this place a miss if I were you.
Bahjat A — Google review
Nice hiking option in Addis. Very accessable. There's a dedicated bike lane on the tracks but surprisingly I haven't seen any bikers. Good option for bike renters to start a business here. It's better suited for the park than the expensive high end restaurants found inside, people go there to bike and hike and not spend tons of money on food..
Daniel — Google review
Entity Park has very scenic views and a beautiful and family-friendly park to visit. The restaurant inside offers amazing Ethiopian traditional food, beer, and coffee. This is a must visit in Addis Ababa. Highly recommend a visit.
David M — Google review
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Entoto Park and was thoroughly impressed by its exceptional facilities and natural beauty. The park is immaculately maintained, easily accessible, and offers a convenient shuttle service to transport guests to various attractions and back to their accommodations. Spending an entire weekend there allowed me to fully appreciate its tranquil atmosphere—peaceful, serene, and surrounded by refreshing greenery and stunning mountain views. The highlight of my stay was the exhilarating zipline experience, which I would highly recommend to any visitor. Entoto Park is truly a remarkable destination for relaxation, adventure, and a breath of fresh air.

Lovely nature spot with the Ethiopia sign, view of Addis, walking trails and restaurants. ☕ Have traditional Ethiopian coffee brewed over coals at one of the many stands or restaurants 🍴 Multiple sit down restaurants. Fresh corner imhas tables in the trees and the view is amazing. 💰 There is a fee to enter. It's 200birr ($1.40US) for residents, 500birr for foreign children and 1000birr for foreign adults. It's very normal in Addis to have foreign prices. 💳 Takes credit card 🚻 Toilets available
Stacey T — Google review
Entoto Park is a beautiful green escape in Addis Ababa, with lush forest trails and stunning views of the city, especially early in the morning. The elevation makes for a refreshing walk—I managed about 3 km, though with clearer information I’d have loved to go further. As a visitor, I found the lack of signage and guidance challenging. At the gate, I was only told about the entrance fee, with no map, rules, or trail details. Even inside, the maps were worn out and staff simply told me to “walk until the restaurant.” For a tourist, this can feel unsettling, especially with construction ongoing. My advice: prepare in advance by checking which entrance you’ll use, download a map if you can, and go with company or a trusted local driver. If you don’t speak Amharic, having a driver or guide who speaks English makes the experience much easier. Still, the walk itself was energizing, and it ended on a high note with breakfast at Kuriftu Resort Restaurant inside the park. The food and coffee were excellent, and the service from my waitress, Roman, was outstanding. Overall, Entoto Park is worth visiting for its natural beauty and views of Addis—just go prepared, and you’ll enjoy the peace and cleansing energy of the forest

Cafe
Cupcake Delights Bakery offers a variety of sweet treats and beverages in a cozy setting. While some customers found the cinnamon roll to be as expected, others enjoyed the Ethiopian macchiato and discovered new favorite dishes like Tibs. The bakery is praised for its friendly staff and perfect service, making it a good spot to enjoy coffee and people-watch. Customers also appreciated the delicious cinnamon rolls with fresh toppings, although some found certain items to be a bit dry.
This is a lovely cafe to relax and catch a chilled vibe in the city centre. A wonderful ambience (sunlight added additional value) and very good service. I went for their signature dessert which was the Cinnamon roll, it was absolutely delightful. I would highly recommend you try it if you are in town.
Swiss N — Google review
I’ve visited this bakery twice now, and overall, it’s been a lovely experience. They offer a nice variety of freshly made cakes, cupcakes, ice cream, and hot drinks, making it a great spot to pop into for a treat or a quick break. The staff are always friendly, welcoming, and happy to help with recommendations. It gives the place a warm and inviting feel. Out of everything I tried, the cupcakes and cinnamon buns stood out the most. The cupcakes were moist and flavourful, and the cinnamon buns, while on the thicker side, were still enjoyable and satisfying. If you prefer a lighter texture, the buns might be a bit dense for your taste, but they’re still worth trying. One item I wasn’t too keen on was the red velvet cake. Unfortunately, it didn’t have much flavour and mostly tasted like food colouring, which was a bit of a letdown. That said, there’s definitely a lot to like here, and I’d happily come back to try more.
K G — Google review
Lovely little spot in Bole with a cozy vibe and friendly service. They have a great selection of cinnamon rolls—definitely the highlight! The americano wasn’t really my favorite, but everything else made up for it. Worth a visit if you’re in the area and love pastries.
Wendy O — Google review
Came to try the cinnamon roll. The roll was what I was expecting, the “frosting” was just straight up frothed milk. Cupcake tasted close enough to red velvet though dry. Macchiato was an Addis Ababa macchiato. It’s a cute place to sit, have your morning coffee in the sun, and people watch.
Selam — Google review
I had the lasagna and a red velvet cupcake for dessert. The lasagna sheets were so dry... just cause you drown it in sauce, it doesn't make it fresh. Pray I don't get sick from it. And the cupcake was saved by the icing...otherwise completely tasteless! The 2 stars are for the machiato and the service.

good place and good price. But some beverage are not my style. I just recommend to drink caffe latte which is the common.

Galani Coffee is a well-known coffee roaster that prides itself on offering top-quality Ethiopian coffee. They are dedicated to preserving the rich heritage of Ethiopian coffee, ensuring customers can savor authentic flavors and aromas with every brew. In addition to their wide range of freshly roasted coffees, Galani Coffee also offers ice cream and milkshake options for those with a sweet tooth.
Not sure if I should be comparing it to American coffee shops. But this beautiful masterpiece of a coffee shop makes american coffee shops look like food stalls. Just beautiful. And I hope to be back. 👏🏽

Gallani is an exceptional establishment that offers a delightful dining experience. The service, food, and beverages were all of the highest quality. The ambiance of the place is also quite appealing.
Dawit F — Google review
An amazing coffee shop, very cool interiors and style. Clearly this was designed which is such a welcoming thing for a cafe. It is great for a casual meeting - inside or outside in the sun. There is plenty of parking outside as well. While i most came here for coffee, the salads are also very tasty.

We love the coffee. It’s nice for home use as well. The cookies are nice too. Their service tho meh … it’s not constant. The place looked beautiful, my pictures doesn’t do it justice. I hope they will fix their service and give priority for customers.

So we went to Addis convention center today and we wanted to buy an ice cream. The lady working there was so rude!!! Very mean! All we asked was to try the ice cream we wanted to try but she literally said "uffff" and rolled her eyes!! Like you're there to serve people CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Such a rude lady she is on the picture provided.
E S — Google review
Galani Coffee offers one of the best atmospheres in Addis Ababa — cozy, elegant, and ideal for both relaxing and getting some work done. The food is excellent, with unique and creative menu options that stand out from typical cafés. However, the service can be slow. After being seated, it often takes a while before someone comes to take your order, which can be a bit inconvenient. Overall, Galani is an excellent spot for coffee, food, and working, especially if you appreciate a calm and stylish environment and don’t mind a relaxed pace of service.
Biruk T — Google review
Great place to get some work done and get some coffee. However the service I would argue is in the most terrible services in Addis. It takes ages to place an order - a simple black coffee might take them 10 minutes. And food forget about it. Me and my friend ordered some food it literally took 67 minutes. Yes I kept track.
Nahom S — Google review
A calm location to visit if you enjoy coffee. It's also a terrific place to read or study, and you can even bring your laptop and complete work there. Art galleries are also present at this coffee shop. The atmosphere, the service, and of course the meal and coffee we had were all wonderful.

Chaka Coffee is a modern Ethiopian cafe that offers breakfast menus and delicious coffee. The cafe is known for its weekend brunches, which are popular with locals and tourists. It is also a great place to grab some breakfast. Orders arrive quickly at Chaka Coffee. The ambiance on weekends is relaxing and enjoyable if you're looking for a few hours of peace and quiet.
One of my favorite cafes in Addis. The very first thing I love about them , they open 7 in the morning 🙏🏽 Love their coffee and foods as well. The newly opened small cake shop is pretty nice as well. I like how the place is green and cool in the sunny hours. The snacks at 5 remind me of my childhood.
Hilena T — Google review
Chaka Coffee isn’t just a cafe, it’s an experience. Established in 2016, we started as a metropolitan haven for coffee lovers, offering extraordinary brews alongside healthy and traditional breakfast menus. Our passion for quality and community fueled rapid growth. By 2017, we had expanded to the central business district, and by 2021, we had five branches across Addis Ababa, serving you seven days a week. Today, Chaka Coffee is a family of over 300 dedicated employees, all committed to making your day brighter. We’re more than just coffee; we’re a taste of the good life.
Haregeweyen A — Google review
Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting Chaka Coffee for breakfast, and I was not disappointed. The environment was inviting and cozy but I liked the ambiance of the Bole branch more, the service was excellent. The teff chebchebsa was exceptional, with the honey being the perfect complement. The tea was also superb, as usual. The staff was attentive and accommodating, making my experience as pleasurable as the food itself. If you're looking for a great place to have breakfast, Chaka Coffee is definitely a must-visit!
Adoniyas G — Google review
I recently visited Chaka Coffee at the CMC Convention Centre and was very impressed by the overall experience. My husband and I ordered the English cake and coffee, both of which were fresh and flavorful. The café, which I was informed opened recently, is beautifully designed — clean, well-lit, and tastefully decorated. The interior décor adds a refined charm and creates a relaxing atmosphere that enhances the dining experience. Overall, Chaka Coffee offers a wonderful blend of quality, comfort, and aesthetics. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a pleasant place to enjoy good coffee and conversation.
Chandra S — Google review
Food is always on point! Been here quite a few times and it's always good. The service is good too but can be very slow at times. For some reason the servers tend to congregate around the cashier and stay there for a while, and I don't think it's just waiting for a receipt but the receipt is always the excuse for the delay. This has made me mad a couple of times, especially when I was in a rush. Other than that, I always recommend this place for traditional Ethiopian breakfast.
Girma F — Google review
Chaka is a great spot especially to grab some breakfast. The competitive edge for places specializing in breakfasts is, tic-tok, time and Chaka is well in this! Orders arrive pretty fast! Their food is also delicious, tried the special foul, scrambled eggs with meat and oh, their yoghurt is yummy. The vibe on weekends is nice if enjoy crowds...a breakfast feast😋
Leul H — Google review
Really good place for an Ethiopian breakfast. Their chechebsa is really good, can't complain about the fetira. Macchiato was great. Also liked the place. Indoor and outdoor space. Nice green areas. Even though there was a lot of people coming in and out service was very good and fast.
Aquiles R — Google review
Another rare place in Addis with a nice greenery. Usually crowded for breakfast. But, only four stars because there is something wrong with their coffee for me. It's very strong and tests a little burnt. (My personal opinion)

Park
Friendship Park, also known as the Addis Ababa Riverside Green Development Project or Beautifying Sheger, is a government-supported initiative in Addis Ababa. Launched in 2019, it aims to enhance the city's rivers and create public green spaces along a 56km stretch from Entoto to Akaki. The park features a picturesque lake with fish and waterlilies, making it an ideal spot for morning runs on its paved roads or invigorating stair workouts.
It’s the perfect spot for a relaxing evening walk. But if you visit during the rainy season—oh, you’re in for a whole new level of magic! The fresh scent, the cool breeze, and the gentle drizzle turn the place into a dreamy escape you’ll never want to leave. 🌧✨
Nejood — Google review
It's often described as a "green oasis" in the middle of Addis, with lush trees, colorful flowers, and a relaxing atmosphere. Visitors enjoy the artificial lake and water fountains (especially the fountain light shows at night). The park has well-built walking/jogging paths, nice landscaping, and it feels modern and well maintained. It's a good place for families and children: playgrounds, open spaces, and areas for leisure. Many reviewers note security is strict (entrance fee and control) which adds a sense of safety.
Zechariah J — Google review
This was the best 1 hour I spent in Addis. The park is very well kept, and the staff were kind and helpful. The water fountain show with the music and the beautiful lights made the place even more special. Thanks to everyone who made this park so beautiful and enjoyable to visit.
Nate ና — Google review
A beautiful and green park located in the heart of Addis Ababa. I visited for the evening water park show and the experience was spectacular! Highly recommended for families with kids to run around the free space and lovers to seat on the stairs to watch the show, it starts around 6:45PM on Sunday. I loved it and will definitely use it next time to an evening walk to exercise around the beautiful man made lake inside.
Juliana S — Google review
Super accessible, the views while at the park are stunning. For those of you who want to do jogging, 🏃 running 🏃‍♀️, the park has enough space and trails for you to do so. Very secure as only paid up individuals are allowed in the park so not any one shall access it.
Averino A — Google review
The park is nicely appointed and maintained. Facilities are everywhere and clean. Good security and a photogenic place, children and groups friendly. The only downside is the food, although it's the case all across Addis Ababa, but the quality isn't that good.
Mohamed B — Google review
The Friendship Park is a nice place to find tranquillity and peace of mind. It is a nice garden, the air is fresh, beautiful different flowers, it also has a monument inside it that portrays the different regions of Ethiopia and their cultures in an artwork on the wall. A must-visit place

Absolutely loved my time at Friendship Park in Addis Ababa! This place is beautifully maintained and surrounded by lush greenery — truly a peaceful escape right in the heart of the city. It offers stunning views of Addis Ababa, making it a perfect spot to relax and take it all in. During my visit, I saw people jogging, groups dancing to music, couples on romantic dates, and even some wedding photo shoots happening around the gardens. There are also restaurants inside where you can enjoy a meal and unwind. Whether you’re a tourist or a local, this park should be one of your first stops in Addis Ababa. Highly recommended! 🌿✨

Addis Zoo Peacock Park, also known as Central Park, is a hidden gem in the Bole area of Addis. The park features stone structures along the exterior walls and adjacent riverway, creating an otherworldly atmosphere. Its inventive construction, lush grounds, and diverse flora make it a great destination for those seeking a tucked-away treasure.
A nice park to clear your head. It's quite clean and there are some animals to see. The price is fair, but don't expect anything else tbh. Also, the area is getting renovated so it might be a little ugly till you get there.
Alazar.M M — Google review
They have done good work on the park but to attract vistors specially the one behind the zoo which is built in Rocks. I don't know where the Lions went when I visit this place there were no lions. But one thing that i loved is that it is Quiet place inside Mega city like Addis Ababa. I really loved its Quiteness. It has similarity with Bihere Tsige Park that is located around Saris. With a good investment from the city government it could be renovate it.
Soulomon D — Google review
This zoo has only 4 animals, hardly. I disliked this place, as they charge foreigners 100 birr, but there isn't even anything to see here. There are around 5 hyenas, 1 female lion, one common eland, and 2 turtles. This place was seriously not worth it. There isn't anything to see. This is a waste of time, and money waste. I guess it's good for budget travelers, but if you really want to SEE something, I recommend the Unity park zoo.
KKG — Google review
Good for a short visit to escape the busy city life. Costs 100 Ethiopian Birr for foreigners, for which you get to see a few animals in a modern built surrounding. p.s. The attached Peacock Park has no peacocks (it is just the name of the park), but I was warned to go there alone as it might be dangerous.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Addis Ababa, Ambassador Park is a serene oasis that beautifully embodies the spirit of international camaraderie. This charming green space, named to honor the numerous ambassadors and diplomatic missions in the city, serves as a tranquil escape from the urban chaos. As one of Addis Ababa's oldest parks, it has become a beloved spot for families, friends, and couples alike. Visitors can meander along picturesque pathways adorned with colorful flowers while soaking up the peaceful ambiance.
Some might call hanging out with your partner at a garden ‘old school’ and it may even be so. But, take one look at this gorgeous green space and you will not be able to keep yourself from planning a date here. One of the prime attractions in the center of Addis Ababa, Hanging Garden has always been one of the favourite hangout spots in Addis Ababa among couples. Do not take it for any run-of-the-mill garden as there are a number of attractions that will easily keep the two of you hooked for hours. It has got statues, walkways and fountains that look incredible when illuminated in the evening. Entry Fee: Birr 30 Hours Open: 07:00 am to 8:00 pm (Everyday)
Dereje T — Google review
I used to enjoy this place, but today was a disappointment. The garden looks lifeless, there’s bird droppings and dust everywhere, making it feel very unhygienic. The café is closed and the place seems abandoned. Despite paying 50 birr for entry, there were no services available. Even the tap water wasn’t working, and the restrooms were closed. I couldn’t stay long it truly felt neglected.
Meklit B — Google review
Worst place ever. Charged 500 (100 per person) while the park was completely under construction and had nowhere to sit. The staff charged us without saying anything then threw their hands up saying they couldn't do anything and it wasn't refundable. And to make things convenient, they dont accept cash 😆 shittiest place ever.
Pre C — Google review
The place looks nice to sit down and have a "me" time, though the staff is unorganized and I witnessed a fight between three workers. It happened like it was a usual fight and no one cared to stop it. Hopefully the management is aware of such mishaps.
Nathan G — Google review
When I was there the park is under construction but i have a good time with my friends but we have a little picnic there and got some snacks and soft drinks they charge us alot 500 for the snacks 1000 for the place so we totally paid 1500 without entrance fee.the entrance fee actually a fair price (50) birr otherwise the park is good for picnic and other events there's also a hotel and there food is amazing.

I visited Ambassador Park in Addis Ababa, but it was undergoing renovation or construction. It didn't live up to the expectations, possibly because of its current construction phase.

If you are looking for a play ground for your kids and a quite place to relax, this is the place. The price is very reasonable. 50 for adults and 150 for kids. My son really enjoyed it. The only down size is the play ground equipments are dirty. Needs to be more cleaner since its for young kids.

Memorial park
Nestled in the vibrant Bole Sub-City of Addis Ababa, the Ethio-Cuba Friendship Memorial Park stands as a testament to the deep-rooted diplomatic ties between Ethiopia and Cuba. Established in the 1970s, this park is not just a green oasis amidst urban life; it serves as a poignant reminder of shared history and cooperation during challenging times, particularly during Somalia's invasion of Ethiopia.
My visit of this interesting place.with my friend was highly memorable. We spent that day in a deeper emotional state, with amusement and proudness. The place isn't only entertaining but is silent and peaceful place to study or to take rest.
Esubalew C — Google review
Ethio-Cuba Friendship Park was established in memory of Somalias invasion of Ethiopia and the cooperation of Cuba and Ethiopia to expel the invaders. The citizens of the two countries were in the forefront of the war defending Ethiopia and expelling the invaders, which was concluded in triumph. The central manument was built to commemorate the 10th year anniversary of the Derg Regime.
Eya T — Google review
This is a really nice memorial park. It has the pictures with names of the Cuban soldiers who died during Mengistu period. The park is peaceful and everyone there you see sits with a book to read. Beautiful park to just go and sit to read or just to find a quite place to clear your mind. It is a library there, or close by, but I never visited it.

Infini Coffee Bar is a popular spot located around Bole Rd and Piazza, known for its great Ethiopian coffee. The cafe offers a clean and friendly environment with a relaxing atmosphere and polite staff. Visitors appreciate the design of the place, the music not being too loud, and the overall cleanliness. While some have enjoyed their drinks and found it to be a great place to hang out, others have mixed reviews about certain food items like cake or pizza.
Great coffee shop. Location is amazing. I had coffee. So good. I enjoyed it .
Birhanu M — Google review
Wonderful service, good food, very clean, friendly staff, nice coffee ☕️ and nice atmosphere with a calm music. However they don't have enough variety in pastry. And it is always old, so you might endup with a dry croissant.

Very clean, friendly staff & great drinks. The only reason for 4 star is for the so called pizza ? It’s just a very dry pita with tiny sauce on top. It can be better
Selam B — Google review
I went there for tea and cake, there was an English cake on the display so I ordered one slice of it after asking if it was fresh and they assured me it was made on the same day. When I got it the slice bottom was full of mold I showed it to them and they didn't even ask sorry. They don't care if you can get sick what is important is selling every....lier and incompetent....shameful

Entoto Natural Park, located in Addis Ababa, offers a serene and spacious environment with breathtaking views. Situated atop Mt. Entoto, the state-run park is perfect for relaxation, mountain climbing, and hillwalking. Visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the city from a platform and use telescopes for magnified views. The park features well-maintained tarmac walking and cycling trails, making it an ideal escape from the city's hustle and bustle.
Big park, quite and clean environment. We are enjoying the weather and the food was good. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed.
Titi B — Google review
Huge park with well-maintained walking and cycling pathways. Very nice natural break from the noise and dust of Addis Ababa. Food, snacks, coffee, etc. available throughout the park. Also, some good cafes and restaurants at the other end, you need to walk around an hour from the main gate to reach there with beautiful walking as the path map I posted with this review. The other way back to the main gate takes more than an hour with different things to see. Admission is 1000 Birr for foreigners. And it's crowded on weekends and holidays.
Habib — Google review
I find a stop at Entoto Park interesting. Entoto Park has a nice outlook (platform) to have a great view of Addis Ababa. There is also a telescope for magnified views of the city. There is no entrance (admission) fee to visit Entoto Park. But, make sure you have your passport or identity card with you. You leave your passports/IDs at the entrance when you get a visitors neck badge. After your visit, you will get your passports/IDs back. If you want to have enjoyable and relaxed visit of Entoto Park, avoid visiting it on weekends (Sat and Sun) as it is full of crowds and it is difficult to get a good parking place if you are driving. Have a pleasant visit!

Nice urban park. A few miles of well-maintained tarmac walking and cycling trails. A nice break from the grit and noise of Addis Ababa that all feels like being sort of in nature, but without having to go very far. Admission is free (you just need to show ID). Really nice park especially with your little ones. Entrance is 10 birr per person which is fair and there is wow burger in there also for snacks and refreshments. It is just a shame we had to wait all those years to experience it since it was closed for a long time and you can see even the wood bridges are old now without anybody experiencing the park in it's most anticipated expected timing. Nonetheless, a good place to take some fresh air and read or bring your little ones on weekends

City park is a really nice and calm place to just relax, collect thoughts for artists and writers as it is peaceful and not crowded at all. It has nice sculptures of hippos and elephants along with a kids play area with swings & slides. It also happens to have a full basketball court which is @lways a plus in my book. Got to do my sketches in the shades for about an hour without interruption plus it is entrance free 😊😎👌. Only downside was there is no water in the waterways,no refreshment shop or a cafe, basketball rings are crooked and bent down which explains the abandoned court. But overall, a nice and clean park and a go to for picnics with ur loved ones since summer is here.

Museum
The Palace Museum, also known as the National or Jubilee Palace of Ethiopia, is a captivating destination in Addis Ababa that transcends the typical museum experience. With an entrance fee of 300 ETB for locals and 50 USD for international visitors, it offers a wealth of history and culture. Visitors can explore beautifully curated exhibits showcasing artifacts and furnishings from the era of Emperor Haile Selassie, providing insight into Ethiopia's royal heritage.
Visiting the Palace Museum (National/Jubilee Palace of Ethiopia) was an unforgettable experience. The site is rich in history, and the artifacts on display are truly remarkable. The car museum was a unique highlight, showcasing a well-preserved collection that adds another layer to Ethiopia's heritage. The grand palace itself is majestic and full of historical significance, definitely the centerpiece of the visit. However, access to the palace is only available with the VIP guided tour, which I strongly recommend. Our guide was excellent, very knowledgeable and engaging, adding depth to every part of the tour. Highly recommended for anyone interested in history, culture, or simply looking for a meaningful outing in Addis! Check the prices on their website before visiting
Samuel N — Google review
The Palace Museum is an architectural gem, rich in historical artifacts and surrounded by serene green spaces that reflect peace and tranquility. Entrance fees vary for locals and foreigners, and identification is required, as ticket prices are based on your nationality and paid in either Ethiopian Birr or foreign currency. For locals, the entrance fees are categorized as regular ticket (ETB 300) which grants access to the car exhibition and the entire museum. The second one is VIP ticket (ETB 1,000) which includes a guided tour of the museum and access inside the palace itself. The museum also features gift shops, library, coffee shops, dining areas, and facilities for beauty and swimming services, although the latter are not yet operational. It’s truly a beautiful and enriching place to visit.
Nuhamin A — Google review
The National Palace (also known as the Jubilee Palace) in Addis Ababa is one of Ethiopia’s most significant and symbolic landmarks. Originally built in 1955 to commemorate Emperor Haile Selassie’s Silver Jubilee, the palace blends neoclassical architectural influences with subtle Ethiopian design motifs, reflecting the country’s rich royal heritage. 🕰 Historical Importance The palace grounds are steeped in history, from hosting imperial ceremonies to serving as the residence of successive Ethiopian heads of state. Today, while much of the interior remains off-limits to the public for security reasons, the complex stands as a living reminder of Ethiopia’s monarchical past and its journey through political change. 🏛 Architecture & Grounds From the moment you approach the main gates, the sheer grandeur of the building is striking. The well-manicured gardens, adorned with indigenous flora and fountains, offer a serene contrast to the bustling streets of Addis Ababa outside. Statues, historical plaques, and preserved vintage vehicles enrich the sense of time travel you get while exploring the grounds. 🎯 Visitor Experience Access is typically limited and often requires prior arrangement, but guided tours, when available, are informative and well-curated, covering Ethiopia’s imperial era, cultural traditions, and the palace’s evolving role in governance. The knowledgeable guides bring the setting to life with fascinating anecdotes about past leaders, state visits, and the symbolism in the palace’s décor. ✅ Highlights • Majestic façade and lush gardens • Deep historical significance tied to Ethiopian identity • Occasional exhibitions showcasing royal artifacts • Panoramic views over parts of Addis Ababa ⚠ Things to Note • Strict security protocols mean photography is often restricted. • Not all areas are open to the public year-round. • Best enjoyed with an official guided tour to fully appreciate the history. ⭐ Overall Impression The National Palace of Ethiopia is less a casual tourist stop and more a profound cultural experience. It’s a rare chance to walk in the footsteps of emperors and presidents, and to witness a chapter of Ethiopia’s story that still resonates in its modern identity. For history enthusiasts, it’s an absolute must-see.
Brhane H — Google review
The Palace Museum is a true hidden gem in Addis Ababa. From its stunning architecture to its rich history, this place offers a fascinating glimpse into Ethiopia's royal past. The guided tours are very informative - you'll see beautiful artifacts, elegant furnishings, and learn about Emperor Haile Selassie and other historical figures who shaped the nation. The gardens surrounding the palace are equally beautiful, making it a great place to take photos or simply relax after the tour. Highly recommended if you're interested in Ethiopian history, culture, or architecture. Definitely one of the must-see spots in the city!
Rooney G — Google review
Loved it. This place is more than a museum. Entrance fee for Ethiopians and residents is 300ETB and 50USD for foreigners...So many cute coffee shops and restaurants...and what I didn't expect to see: a wellness center complete with a swimming pool. The Addis Ababa Art Community center is also a beautiful space to visit with a nicely curated art gallery. I found the prices to be decent enough. Bilo's pastry at the palace cost roughly 500 ETB for two hot drinks, a slice of pizza and some swiss pastry. Other restaurants such as Mama's kitchen, One Koo, The palace restaurant are also available. Get some comfortable shoes because you're going to walk a lot.
Sona D — Google review
Very beautiful place where one can read an open history book of Ethiopia specially since the time of H.I.M. Haile Silassie I. It is also a place where people can understand the nations leader common view towards their heritage. The price is expensive for any regular Ethiopian citizen but very specifically, asking children & students the same price like adults, currently 1000 Birr per person, could be a barrier for a person who wants to teach his/her children their history easily (on the spot). So, better to understand to whom the heritage is more important in a sense of creating sense of ownership or belongingness. The rest, the restaurants , cafes & pastries are so neat, the children ground is a very wise addition & the environment is so welcoming …
Henokabba — Google review
Not good value for money for foreigners. It’s very rare I give less than 5 star review but we did not have a positive experience. We arrived to be told the fee was 20$USD to enter the grounds or $50USD to enter the grounds and museum with a guide (there was no option to enter museum without a guide). We said we would take the 20$USD option (40$USD for 2 people) but we didn’t have dollars, as we are in Ethiopia, and only had Birr. We were then told that they would charge us the fee in Birr using today’s foreign exchange rate and sent us to a small room off the side to deal with the “bank”. The women in the small room the told us it would be 13,514 Birr (approx 100$USD). We explained it is not correct and then she did a different calculation and it was still incorrect, then another man came and he tried and came up with 5600 Birr (approx 40$usd). We were less than impressed that there was not a set ticket price in Birr for foreigners which we had encountered in other locations. Once we finally were able to pay, we then went through security and they asked me to remove everything including my eyeglasses and put through x-ray. I politely declined concerned my glasses could get scratched (and honestly what were they looking for to X-ray eyeglasses?!). They had a problem with my tiny bottle of hand sanitizer but agreed to let me keep it. We then finally were in and walked through the car museum (10 mins), then past a small church, behind the main building to the “zoo”, (the cages were very small with concrete floors and the lion did not look in good shape, also there seemed to be a significant number of vultures hanging about AND we saw a guide banging on the tiny cage of the cheetah with her water bottle harassing the animal to get it to move - this is not ok), then we walked around the front of the main building, through the garden and out. If we hadn’t stopped to take some selfies and admire the vultures, we probably could have walked the grounds in approx 30mins. Positive feedback? The bathrooms in the basement of the coffee shop were very clean and nice, and there were some cool cars in car room. Considering Unity Park has a $20USD entrance fee and we spent nearly 4 hours in Unity Park (and we had a great time), the 15$USD entrance to Palace grounds for 30mins is not worth it unless your plan is to stay and enjoy the grounds (and vultures) with a good book and probably an expensive coffee. Note: I hardly took any photos as the “zoo” was too depressing.
