Unity park is one of the higher end parks in Addis. It includes museums about the history of Ethiopia, and zoos featuring zebras, lions, giraffes, wild dogs, baboons, something that lived underground, and fishes. This park also highlighted the different regions and cultures of Ethiopia. The tickets are a bit on the pricey side for foreigners, USD 20 per person (including those with Residents ID). Overall, the park was educational and fun, even for kids.

At the zoo, you can see the Black mane lion, peacocks, Zebras, Giraffes among other things. It was my second time visiting and I had an amazing experience.

I don’t go often, but the few times I’ve been to Entoto Park for a morning run were amazing. The air is super fresh, the trails are peaceful, and the views make the whole experience really refreshing. Even if you're not a regular runner, it’s a great place to clear your head and enjoy nature.

It's a nice forest so it's a shame that they are charging people 1000 Birr to be in nature. Many areas of the fence to the North are broken so you can essentially walk in there for free. You can't visit the churches from inside the park. And forget about being able to go back to Addis because the ride sharing apps don't work from the gates. I would give this place a miss if I were you.

Nice hiking option in Addis. Very accessable. There's a dedicated bike lane on the tracks but surprisingly I haven't seen any bikers. Good option for bike renters to start a business here. It's better suited for the park than the expensive high end restaurants found inside, people go there to bike and hike and not spend tons of money on food..

Entity Park has very scenic views and a beautiful and family-friendly park to visit. The restaurant inside offers amazing Ethiopian traditional food, beer, and coffee. This is a must visit in Addis Ababa. Highly recommend a visit.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Entoto Park and was thoroughly impressed by its exceptional facilities and natural beauty. The park is immaculately maintained, easily accessible, and offers a convenient shuttle service to transport guests to various attractions and back to their accommodations. Spending an entire weekend there allowed me to fully appreciate its tranquil atmosphere—peaceful, serene, and surrounded by refreshing greenery and stunning mountain views. The highlight of my stay was the exhilarating zipline experience, which I would highly recommend to any visitor. Entoto Park is truly a remarkable destination for relaxation, adventure, and a breath of fresh air.

Entoto Park is a beautiful green escape in Addis Ababa, with lush forest trails and stunning views of the city, especially early in the morning. The elevation makes for a refreshing walk—I managed about 3 km, though with clearer information I’d have loved to go further. As a visitor, I found the lack of signage and guidance challenging. At the gate, I was only told about the entrance fee, with no map, rules, or trail details. Even inside, the maps were worn out and staff simply told me to “walk until the restaurant.” For a tourist, this can feel unsettling, especially with construction ongoing. My advice: prepare in advance by checking which entrance you’ll use, download a map if you can, and go with company or a trusted local driver. If you don’t speak Amharic, having a driver or guide who speaks English makes the experience much easier. Still, the walk itself was energizing, and it ended on a high note with breakfast at Kuriftu Resort Restaurant inside the park. The food and coffee were excellent, and the service from my waitress, Roman, was outstanding. Overall, Entoto Park is worth visiting for its natural beauty and views of Addis—just go prepared, and you’ll enjoy the peace and cleansing energy of the forest

I’ve visited this bakery twice now, and overall, it’s been a lovely experience. They offer a nice variety of freshly made cakes, cupcakes, ice cream, and hot drinks, making it a great spot to pop into for a treat or a quick break. The staff are always friendly, welcoming, and happy to help with recommendations. It gives the place a warm and inviting feel. Out of everything I tried, the cupcakes and cinnamon buns stood out the most. The cupcakes were moist and flavourful, and the cinnamon buns, while on the thicker side, were still enjoyable and satisfying. If you prefer a lighter texture, the buns might be a bit dense for your taste, but they’re still worth trying. One item I wasn’t too keen on was the red velvet cake. Unfortunately, it didn’t have much flavour and mostly tasted like food colouring, which was a bit of a letdown. That said, there’s definitely a lot to like here, and I’d happily come back to try more.

Lovely little spot in Bole with a cozy vibe and friendly service. They have a great selection of cinnamon rolls—definitely the highlight! The americano wasn’t really my favorite, but everything else made up for it. Worth a visit if you’re in the area and love pastries.

Came to try the cinnamon roll. The roll was what I was expecting, the “frosting” was just straight up frothed milk. Cupcake tasted close enough to red velvet though dry. Macchiato was an Addis Ababa macchiato. It’s a cute place to sit, have your morning coffee in the sun, and people watch.

I had the lasagna and a red velvet cupcake for dessert. The lasagna sheets were so dry... just cause you drown it in sauce, it doesn't make it fresh. Pray I don't get sick from it. And the cupcake was saved by the icing...otherwise completely tasteless! The 2 stars are for the machiato and the service.

An amazing coffee shop, very cool interiors and style. Clearly this was designed which is such a welcoming thing for a cafe. It is great for a casual meeting - inside or outside in the sun. There is plenty of parking outside as well. While i most came here for coffee, the salads are also very tasty.

So we went to Addis convention center today and we wanted to buy an ice cream. The lady working there was so rude!!! Very mean! All we asked was to try the ice cream we wanted to try but she literally said "uffff" and rolled her eyes!! Like you're there to serve people CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Galani Coffee offers one of the best atmospheres in Addis Ababa — cozy, elegant, and ideal for both relaxing and getting some work done. The food is excellent, with unique and creative menu options that stand out from typical cafés. However, the service can be slow. After being seated, it often takes a while before someone comes to take your order, which can be a bit inconvenient. Overall, Galani is an excellent spot for coffee, food, and working, especially if you appreciate a calm and stylish environment and don’t mind a relaxed pace of service.

Great place to get some work done and get some coffee. However the service I would argue is in the most terrible services in Addis. It takes ages to place an order - a simple black coffee might take them 10 minutes. And food forget about it. Me and my friend ordered some food it literally took 67 minutes. Yes I kept track.

A calm location to visit if you enjoy coffee. It's also a terrific place to read or study, and you can even bring your laptop and complete work there. Art galleries are also present at this coffee shop. The atmosphere, the service, and of course the meal and coffee we had were all wonderful.

Food is always on point! Been here quite a few times and it's always good. The service is good too but can be very slow at times. For some reason the servers tend to congregate around the cashier and stay there for a while, and I don't think it's just waiting for a receipt but the receipt is always the excuse for the delay. This has made me mad a couple of times, especially when I was in a rush. Other than that, I always recommend this place for traditional Ethiopian breakfast.

Chaka is a great spot especially to grab some breakfast. The competitive edge for places specializing in breakfasts is, tic-tok, time and Chaka is well in this! Orders arrive pretty fast! Their food is also delicious, tried the special foul, scrambled eggs with meat and oh, their yoghurt is yummy. The vibe on weekends is nice if enjoy crowds...a breakfast feast😋

A beautiful and green park located in the heart of Addis Ababa. I visited for the evening water park show and the experience was spectacular! Highly recommended for families with kids to run around the free space and lovers to seat on the stairs to watch the show, it starts around 6:45PM on Sunday. I loved it and will definitely use it next time to an evening walk to exercise around the beautiful man made lake inside.

Super accessible, the views while at the park are stunning. For those of you who want to do jogging, 🏃 running 🏃‍♀️, the park has enough space and trails for you to do so. Very secure as only paid up individuals are allowed in the park so not any one shall access it.

The park is nicely appointed and maintained. Facilities are everywhere and clean. Good security and a photogenic place, children and groups friendly. The only downside is the food, although it's the case all across Addis Ababa, but the quality isn't that good.

The Friendship Park is a nice place to find tranquillity and peace of mind. It is a nice garden, the air is fresh, beautiful different flowers, it also has a monument inside it that portrays the different regions of Ethiopia and their cultures in an artwork on the wall. A must-visit place

Absolutely loved my time at Friendship Park in Addis Ababa! This place is beautifully maintained and surrounded by lush greenery — truly a peaceful escape right in the heart of the city. It offers stunning views of Addis Ababa, making it a perfect spot to relax and take it all in. During my visit, I saw people jogging, groups dancing to music, couples on romantic dates, and even some wedding photo shoots happening around the gardens. There are also restaurants inside where you can enjoy a meal and unwind. Whether you’re a tourist or a local, this park should be one of your first stops in Addis Ababa. Highly recommended! 🌿✨

They have done good work on the park but to attract vistors specially the one behind the zoo which is built in Rocks. I don't know where the Lions went when I visit this place there were no lions.But one thing that i loved is that it is Quiet place inside Mega city like Addis Ababa. I really loved its Quiteness. It has similarity with Bihere Tsige Park that is located around Saris. With a good investment from the city government it could be renovate it.

This zoo has only 4 animals, hardly. I disliked this place, as they charge foreigners 100 birr, but there isn't even anything to see here. There are around 5 hyenas, 1 female lion, one common eland, and 2 turtles. This place was seriously not worth it. There isn't anything to see. This is a waste of time, and money waste. I guess it's good for budget travelers, but if you really want to SEE something, I recommend the Unity park zoo.

Good for a short visit to escape the busy city life. Costs 100 Ethiopian Birr for foreigners, for which you get to see a few animals in a modern built surrounding. p.s. The attached Peacock Park has no peacocks (it is just the name of the park), but I was warned to go there alone as it might be dangerous.

We drove over 40 minutes to get here and they are doing construction so the park is closed to the public. My friend says they have been doing construction here for over 10 years. I wish someone would have warned us ahead of time.

Quiet location almost in the city center. Lots of big trees, lots of plants and benches to sit on. The park is being improved and expanded. Responsive staff.

I used to enjoy this place, but today was a disappointment. The garden looks lifeless, there’s bird droppings and dust everywhere, making it feel very unhygienic. The café is closed and the place seems abandoned. Despite paying 50 birr for entry, there were no services available. Even the tap water wasn’t working, and the restrooms were closed. I couldn’t stay long it truly felt neglected.

Worst place ever. Charged 500 (100 per person) while the park was completely under construction and had nowhere to sit. The staff charged us without saying anything then threw their hands up saying they couldn't do anything and it wasn't refundable. And to make things convenient, they dont accept cash 😆 shittiest place ever.

The place looks nice to sit down and have a "me" time, though the staff is unorganized and I witnessed a fight between three workers. It happened like it was a usual fight and no one cared to stop it. Hopefully the management is aware of such mishaps.

When I was there the park is under construction but i have a good time with my friends but we have a little picnic there and got some snacks and soft drinks they charge us alot 500 for the snacks 1000 for the place so we totally paid 1500 without entrance fee.the entrance fee actually a fair price (50) birr otherwise the park is good for picnic and other events there's also a hotel and there food is amazing.

I visited Ambassador Park in Addis Ababa, but it was undergoing renovation or construction. It didn't live up to the expectations, possibly because of its current construction phase.

If you are looking for a play ground for your kids and a quite place to relax, this is the place. The price is very reasonable. 50 for adults and 150 for kids. My son really enjoyed it. The only down size is the play ground equipments are dirty. Needs to be more cleaner since its for young kids.

Ethio-Cuba Friendship Park was established in memory of Somalias invasion of Ethiopia and the cooperation of Cuba and Ethiopia to expel the invaders. The citizens of the two countries were in the forefront of the war defending Ethiopia and expelling the invaders, which was concluded in triumph. The central manument was built to commemorate the 10th year anniversary of the Derg Regime.

This is a really nice memorial park. It has the pictures with names of the Cuban soldiers who died during Mengistu period. The park is peaceful and everyone there you see sits with a book to read. Beautiful park to just go and sit to read or just to find a quite place to clear your mind. It is a library there, or close by, but I never visited it.

I went there for tea and cake, there was an English cake on the display so I ordered one slice of it after asking if it was fresh and they assured me it was made on the same day. When I got it the slice bottom was full of mold I showed it to them and they didn't even ask sorry. They don't care if you can get sick what is important is selling every....lier and incompetent....shameful

Huge park with well-maintained walking and cycling pathways. Very nice natural break from the noise and dust of Addis Ababa. Food, snacks, coffee, etc. available throughout the park. Also, some good cafes and restaurants at the other end, you need to walk around an hour from the main gate to reach there with beautiful walking as the path map I posted with this review. The other way back to the main gate takes more than an hour with different things to see. Admission is 1000 Birr for foreigners. And it's crowded on weekends and holidays.

I find a stop at Entoto Park interesting. Entoto Park has a nice outlook (platform) to have a great view of Addis Ababa. There is also a telescope for magnified views of the city. There is no entrance (admission) fee to visit Entoto Park. But, make sure you have your passport or identity card with you. You leave your passports/IDs at the entrance when you get a visitors neck badge. After your visit, you will get your passports/IDs back. If you want to have enjoyable and relaxed visit of Entoto Park, avoid visiting it on weekends (Sat and Sun) as it is full of crowds and it is difficult to get a good parking place if you are driving. Have a pleasant visit!

Great place to go away from the city's hustle bustle and relax. Lots of activities for family with a very well maintained rest area. I especially loved how they're able to reuse the cut trees for bench, tables and bathrooms doors . Can't say more just go and see! Wonderful place to be and witness our beloved country's transformation ...great job all who participated in this project.

Really nice park especially with your little ones. Entrance is 10 birr per person which is fair and there is wow burger in there also for snacks and refreshments. It is just a shame we had to wait all those years to experience it since it was closed for a long time and you can see even the wood bridges are old now without anybody experiencing the park in it's most anticipated expected timing. City park is a really nice and calm place to just relax, collect thoughts for artists and writers as it is peaceful and not crowded at all. It has nice sculptures of hippos and elephants along with a kids play area with swings & slides. It also happens to have a full basketball court which is @lways a plus in my book. Got to do my sketches in the shades for about an hour without interruption plus it is entrance free 😊😎👌. Only downside was there is no water in the waterways,no refreshment shop or a cafe, basketball rings are crooked and bent down which explains the abandoned court. But overall, a nice and clean park and a go to for picnics with ur loved ones since summer is here.

The Palace Museum is a true hidden gem in Addis Ababa. From its stunning architecture to its rich history, this place offers a fascinating glimpse into Ethiopia's royal past. The guided tours are very informative - you'll see beautiful artifacts, elegant furnishings, and learn about Emperor Haile Selassie and other historical figures who shaped the nation. The gardens surrounding the palace are equally beautiful, making it a great place to take photos or simply relax after the tour. Highly recommended if you're interested in Ethiopian history, culture, or architecture. Definitely one of the must-see spots in the city!

Loved it. This place is more than a museum. Entrance fee for Ethiopians and residents is 300ETB and 50USD for foreigners...So many cute coffee shops and restaurants...and what I didn't expect to see: a wellness center complete with a swimming pool. The Addis Ababa Art Community center is also a beautiful space to visit with a nicely curated art gallery. I found the prices to be decent enough. Bilo's pastry at the palace cost roughly 500 ETB for two hot drinks, a slice of pizza and some swiss pastry. Other restaurants such as Mama's kitchen, One Koo, The palace restaurant are also available. Get some comfortable shoes because you're going to walk a lot.

Very beautiful place where one can read an open history book of Ethiopia specially since the time of H.I.M. Haile Silassie I. It is also a place where people can understand the nations leader common view towards their heritage. The price is expensive for any regular Ethiopian citizen but very specifically, asking children & students the same price like adults, currently 1000 Birr per person, could be a barrier for a person who wants to teach his/her children their history easily (on the spot). So, better to understand to whom the heritage is more important in a sense of creating sense of ownership or belongingness. The rest, the restaurants , cafes & pastries are so neat, the children ground is a very wise addition & the environment is so welcoming …

Not good value for money for foreigners. It’s very rare I give less than 5 star review but we did not have a positive experience. We arrived to be told the fee was 20$USD to enter the grounds or $50USD to enter the grounds and museum with a guide (there was no option to enter museum without a guide). We said we would take the 20$USD option (40$USD for 2 people) but we didn’t have dollars, as we are in Ethiopia, and only had Birr. We were then told that they would charge us the fee in Birr using today’s foreign exchange rate and sent us to a small room off the side to deal with the “bank”. The women in the small room the told us it would be 13,514 Birr (approx 100$USD). We explained it is not correct and then she did a different calculation and it was still incorrect, then another man came and he tried and came up with 5600 Birr (approx 40$usd). We were less than impressed that there was not a set ticket price in Birr for foreigners which we had encountered in other locations. Once we finally were able to pay, we then went through security and they asked me to remove everything including my eyeglasses and put through x-ray. I politely declined concerned my glasses could get scratched (and honestly what were they looking for to X-ray eyeglasses?!). They had a problem with my tiny bottle of hand sanitizer but agreed to let me keep it. We then finally were in and walked through the car museum (10 mins), then past a small church, behind the main building to the “zoo”, (the cages were very small with concrete floors and the lion did not look in good shape, also there seemed to be a significant number of vultures hanging about AND we saw a guide banging on the tiny cage of the cheetah with her water bottle harassing the animal to get it to move - this is not ok), then we walked around the front of the main building, through the garden and out. If we hadn’t stopped to take some selfies and admire the vultures, we probably could have walked the grounds in approx 30mins. Positive feedback? The bathrooms in the basement of the coffee shop were very clean and nice, and there were some cool cars in car room. Considering Unity Park has a $20USD entrance fee and we spent nearly 4 hours in Unity Park (and we had a great time), the 15$USD entrance to Palace grounds for 30mins is not worth it unless your plan is to stay and enjoy the grounds (and vultures) with a good book and probably an expensive coffee. Note: I hardly took any photos as the “zoo” was too depressing.

Simply a must see in Addis. Amazing artefacts, beautiful well laid our building. So much history. Amazing guide Abera. So very knowledgeable. Highly recommended😇

This place used to be one of the nicest Cafes in Addis. But now it’s come to be like the simple tea houses you find just around the corner in a random village in Addis. Besides, parking is terrible!

I did not see waffles or pancakes on the menu. The staff did not know what I was talking about. Coffee was good.

Lovely little coffee shop in the place where coffee may have been discovered. It’s right next next to the old railway station in a group of historical buildings. Interesting pictures and items in display that are associated with coffee. And yes the coffee tastes good!

I did not know about this place it was a gem find next to tomoca in a very convenient place. They down side is they only serve fasting dishes during fasting season, the place needs new furniture as it could do more in this spectacular location

Quite and refreshing place with outdoor area. I have tried the "tibs", it was tasty. Great macchiato. Service is ok. They do not have food menu and donot provide a receipt for your bill.
