Bodies of Water
Lady Bird Lake, previously known as Town Lake, is a reservoir created along the Colorado River in 1960. It was renamed in honor of Lady Bird Johnson for her efforts in restoring its natural beauty. The 416-acre lake offers various outdoor activities such as kayaking, rowing, and biking on the Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail that encircles its banks. Additionally, visitors can enjoy wildlife viewing and jogging along the trails that stretch for miles on both shores.
My experience is always great! The environment is pretty awesome. The majority of the people there are friendly but never bow down people can be careless, The buddy system is great and encouraging y'all have to experience it yourselves everyday It is a different vibe!!

An absolutely beautiful path to walk, run, bike, or pop on the lake for boarding, kayaking fun. The pathways connect to multiple parks, and have water for you and your pups along the trails.
Shanna W — Google review
It’s the place to go for paddle boating, kayaking and bat watching. Bat watching is a must do tourist excursion in Austin. The lake is beautiful and has a park and walkway all around the lake. It’s a nice spot to watch the sunset and the beautiful city!
Ankita G — Google review
We visited this place on January 1st and loved it. It’s an enormous park with lots of trails for walking, trekking and cycling. Our dog also had a wonderful time there. We didn’t find any restrooms or placer where to buy refreshments. That is missing, the rest was great!
Miguel N — Google review
Nice lake. Lots of places to sit and eat or just sit and relax with a view of the lake. A very nice to ride an electric bike. Regular bikes are not allowed. I was expecting First Lady quality. Free parking.
Jackie K — Google review
Paddling on Lady Bird Lake in Austin is a delightful way to experience the city's natural beauty and vibrant atmosphere. It could be a bit more clean in some areas. The calm waters provide the perfect setting for kayaking, paddleboarding, or canoeing, offering stunning views of the downtown skyline, lush greenery, and iconic landmarks like the Congress Avenue Bridge. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced paddler, the lake's serene environment makes for a relaxing outing. Along the way, you might spot turtles, birds, and even the famous bats at sunset. The accessibility of rental services and the friendly local vibe add to the experience. Paddling on Lady Bird Lake is a must-do activity for anyone looking to enjoy Austin's outdoor charm.
Carlo C — Google review
Lady Bird Lake in Austin offers a beautiful contrast to the downtown buildings, creating a scenic backdrop for outdoor activities. While the directions may not be the easiest to navigate, the overall experience of the lake and its surroundings makes it a worthwhile destination.

Bridge
The Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge in Austin, Texas is a popular spot for pedestrians and cyclists, offering stunning views of the city skyline and Lady Bird Lake. The bridge has become known for its ever-changing graffiti messages on the nearby Lamar train bridge, providing unique selfie opportunities. Spanning across Lady Bird Lake, this iconic bridge offers a perfect vantage point to capture Austin's striking architecture against the shimmering water.
Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge is a true hidden gem and one of the most beautiful spots in Austin! I highly recommend visiting in the early morning for a peaceful walk along Lady Bird Lake or in the evening to catch breathtaking sunsets over the Austin skyline. The view of the lake during sunset is nothing short of amazing! Around dusk, you might catch the spectacle of bats flying overhead — a quintessential Austin experience. The bridge is a fantastic spot to soak in the city’s vibrant atmosphere, with locals gathering to play music, fly drones, listen to talented musicians, or share a picnic. Whether you’re a local or a first-time visitor, this bridge perfectly encapsulates what Austin is all about. It’s serene and scenic while being lively and full of energy. Don’t forget to bring your camera to capture the stunning views of downtown and the Colorado River. Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge is a solid 10/10 for me, and I’ll absolutely visit every time I’m in Austin. It’s easy to get to, has an amazing vibe, and offers an unforgettable experience. Just a gentle reminder — please pick up after yourself and help keep Austin clean!💕
Kayla M — Google review
If you’re in Austin and looking for the perfect place to unwind in the evening, the Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge is a must-visit. We went there just before sunset, and the experience was nothing short of magical. As the sun began to dip below the horizon, the entire skyline lit up in shades of orange, pink, and purple, reflecting beautifully off the still waters of Lady Bird Lake. The bridge itself is wide, clean, and peaceful—ideal for a relaxed walk or a casual bike ride. There’s something calming about being surrounded by water and trees while still having views of the downtown skyline. It truly feels like you’re in the heart of the city and yet away from all the noise. The people you meet along the way—runners, families, dog walkers, and photographers—add to the friendly and welcoming vibe. One of the best parts was pausing midway through the bridge and just taking it all in. There are benches where you can sit and enjoy the breeze, and the occasional musician playing soft acoustic tunes nearby made the atmosphere even more serene. As night falls, the bridge lights up just enough to keep it safe while preserving the charm of the night sky. We even spotted kayakers paddling quietly below, adding to the laid-back, picturesque scene. Whether you’re visiting Austin or have lived here your whole life, the Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge offers an evening escape that feels special every single time. It’s perfect for solo reflection, a romantic walk, or just soaking in Austin’s unique energy. Highly recommended!
Rahul N — Google review
Truly an Austin experience not to be missed! Just an absolute beautiful piece of Austin and I recommend getting up first thing in the morning running alongside the lake and then crossing the bridge to the other side, all the wall making sure to check out the herons and other wildlife you're bound to run across!
Caroline B — Google review
Some of the best views of the Austin downtown at night. Gives you an illusion of being away from the city overlooking the beautiful skyline but in reality you’re right in the middle!
Rhea K — Google review
Awesome bridge to take in amazing views of the city or just sit and enjoy the atmosphere,a romantic spot for lovers or to just hang out with friends and listen to performers play music, watch artists paint on canvases the image at night are breathtaking everything lights up beautifully.enjoy
Ruben G — Google review
The soccer fields are really nice and there is plenty of parking. There is what seems to be like a permanent construction/landscaping project going on but otherwise really nice
Ivan F — Google review
This is definitely a well used and well maintained pedestrian bridge. Both walking and bike friendly. Connects to the trail on both sides of the lake/river. Also great views from the bridge of downtown and the river. There are plenty of benches on the bridge so it can be a hangout spot as well as a connector.
Hannah ( — Google review
Love this little pedestrian only bridge! Connects the two trails on either side of the river, has an off leash dog park on one side. Multiple ways to get on/off with an accessible ramp, stairs, and even a longer walkway that goes further to yet another green area and dog park Gorgeous views too, can watch the river and sunset from here and admire the skyline

Bat Conservation International is a fantastic resource for bat enthusiasts in Central Texas. Visitors can witness the awe-inspiring sight of bats in Austin, even during the winter months when they migrate to Mexico. The experience of approaching the bridge and hearing the bats squeaking is truly unforgettable, making it a popular attraction for many people.
Bats are an essential part of our ecosystm. And yes they affect humans and thus 'social justice' is a part of making sure animals have a place in this world and are not simply 'food'. Anyone who does not understand how intertwined these are has not looked into the way the planet works. I would give 10 stars!
Patience M — Google review
Really cool place to join up and help save our bat population. Remember everyone, our bats actually do a lot for us all and yes, we need to support them. Let's all do our part and help them!! 👍
Chad E — Google review
Love it. Love it. Love it. Seeing the bats was awesome. They make Austin even more wonderful. We went on Thanksgiving. The phone line stated that the bats have migrated to Mexico for the winter, but thankfully there were still a lot of them. As we approached the bridge, we could hear them squeaking. This was really fun and it was nice to see so make people gathered for it ♥

Great resource for bats in Central Texas!
Stephanie S — Google review
Sadly I cant even give this place a star. The social justice posturing that is ingrained into this company's website is a sad turn that we are seeing today. You're a Bat conservation company, NOT a social justice company. Unfortunately, I cant spend my money on a place that further divides the populace

The Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail is a 10-mile multi-use path that runs along both sides of Lady Bird Lake in downtown Austin. It's a popular destination for hikers, bikers, and runners, offering scenic views of the Austin skyline and opportunities to relax in nearby parks like Auditorium Shores and Fiesta Garden. The trail also features a peaceful boardwalk on the south side of the lake, providing a serene escape from the city bustle.
All My childhood I've walked the trails hiking and bike trails and it's The scenery and people for me Lol this Why we hold the slogan keep Austin weird hey it's ain't nothing but a Austin Texas THANG
Eric B — Google review
The trail/path is great. Easy, wide and well maintained. We rode our fat tire bikes and connected from the north end of Shoal creek trail. Overall it’s a great ride, walk or run, although it is super crowded especially on the weekends. The massive crowds are probably the only downside as you have to really pay attention and don’t have as much time to enjoy the scenery. You just need to be patient, and take your time. We made a stop at Ziker botanical gardens which was decent and they have a place to park your bike. We also stopped for lunch at Tumble 22 on the way back. There are plenty of spots to explore, pull off and enjoy the views or get food.
Rob H — Google review
One of Austin’s best places to walk and enjoy Town Lake. 12 miles of well kept trail. Bike or walk. Bikes can be a hazard sometimes when going too fast. Lots of places to sit and enjoy the natural beauty of the trail and lake and tons of wildlife.
Robert F — Google review
This trail was very well-kept and scenic along lady bird lake in downtown Austin! Great for all activities
Anna M — Google review
Ann and Roy Butler park is lie in the Colorado river side. It’s good to run, walk and spend time with family in the park.
Netra N — Google review
Wonderful walking trail by the Colorado river, a portion of it is a boardwalk over the river by the south bank. Great view of downtown. We only walked 3.5 miles of the long trail but will be back to explore more of it once we find free/city parking close to the trail. We parked in a very expensive parking lot by the Congress St bridge (bat bridge) - $25 for an hour!
Malavika K — Google review
Great trail for walking and biking along and along the Colorado River with great views of Austin. You can rent a boat and ride along the river or just sit and admire the turtles, which are abundant on the river. Highly recommend this beautiful trail. Thank you for such an equipped and created trail!🤝👏❤️

The Bat Tour on Lady Bird lake was fun and informative! You are on a pontoon style boat that cruises the river at sunset, then you head up to Congress bridge to see millions of bats fly out at dusk. Bring your own beverage was a nice add !
A M — Google review
This was one of the coolest things to see. Just truly amazing the amount of bats in one place. They seemed to be never ending, coming out from under the bridge. Our guide/captain was very knowledgeable and funny. We had a great time.
Rhonda N — Google review
Our bat tour was pretty great! Lots of weird Austin humor infused with information about the city and the bats. The bats came out in pattern B which was still pretty cool even though it wasn't the giant swarm we were hoping for. Overall we had a pretty good time.
Leslie Z — Google review
Amazing experience! Started with a leisurely cruise down Ladybird Lake with some architectural insights and migrating bird factoids. I'd recommend this time of year for both balmier weather (by Texas standards) and activity of the bats. I was "blessed" during the trip back under the bridge, but I'm told it's a good luck charm. 10/10 recommend. 🍀 🦇
Hannah P — Google review
We did the sunset bat tour and it was such a great way to see Austin! Relaxing way to end a busy sightseeing day on the river/lake/reservoir! Our tour guide Alec was awesome, very knowledgeable and quite funny. The tour was about an hour and they recommended grabbing drinks nearby before we launched. Great views of the city and so cool to get up close to the bat colony as they headed out of the bridge for the night. Great value!!
Cait T — Google review
The spot took us to a hotel & the parking is pricey around here so we went nearby to 676 W Riverside Payparking. I didn’t see any signs to pay to park so we parked for free for under 2 hours but !!park at your own risk & check the rules for parking here. (We got lucky lol) It was a nice short walk to get to Capital Cruises. The worker there was friendly and he just had us fill out some paperwork before we started riding on the swan boat. It’s basic information like your name and your address contact information and your driver’s ID #. Make sure you or someone in the group has an ID. The Swan boat is a very calm ride. I think it goes up to 5MPH. it is very easy to turn it & move it. We got to see some turtles too. That was exciting! Great views of the City Skyline.
Mariela C — Google review
Our boat guide Beck was funny, informative, and friendly. The whole bat bridge boat tour was amazing! It was so cool seeing all the bats come out at once!!! I highly recommend taking one of these boat tours to see the bats up close!!!!
Jake P — Google review
This is an amazing experience! My son loved it. Very informative Captain that answered any questions my son could come up with. Truly unique and incredible experience to see the bats from this vantage. Much better than watching from the ground because you can see them more easily.

South Congress Bridge, located in downtown Austin, is home to the largest urban bat colony in North America. Every summer night, around 1.5 million Mexican free-tail bats emerge from under the bridge, creating a spectacular sight that attracts hundreds of visitors. The best time to witness this natural phenomenon is at dusk when the bats take flight for their nightly hunt. The view of downtown Austin from the bridge is stunning and adds to the experience of watching the bats in action.
Well the evening we went , of course , a storm was coming which come to find out changes their normal routine.. but it was really cool to see how it could be had they all taken flight as per usual.. we will make it back. It’s a short drive from Houston. 2.5 hours..
Bethany S — Google review
While bridge itself is mostly unremarkable in terms of design, it offers some of the most scenic views in the city. One of the primary motivations for visits is the nightly emergence of the thousands of bats that call the bridge and the area around it, home. Worth noting that our visit was in early November, and despite the crowds both on the bridge and in the water, there were no bats to be seen that night. Apparently The later sunsets in the summer time are a much better time to watch this spectacle.
Luis G — Google review
This is one of those sights you need to make time for. We ended up sitting on some rocks under the bridge, came straight back to the hotel to wash my hair!😅 Seeing this huge bat colony flying around is a wild and unique experience. Highly recommend!
Angela V — Google review
We came to see the bat colony under the Congress Avenue Bridge and had a great time! The atmosphere was fun — there was a bit of a sunset party vibe with a DJ in the parking lot and ice cream trucks for refreshments. We parked at the Austin American-Statesman lot, which gave us easy access and a solid viewing spot. From there you can walk down for a good view of the bats emerging from under the bridge. If you have a kayak, you can even launch from the shore here and get an amazing view from the water. Definitely check sunset times and recent emergence reports so you don’t miss them. The bats themselves were incredible to watch, flying out in steady streams and following the treetops like pathways as they headed off to hunt. A unique and unforgettable Austin experience!
Michael G — Google review
An incredible and unique Austin experience! We came to the Congress Avenue Bridge to watch the bats, and it was a truly spectacular sight. We arrived about an hour before sunset to get a good spot on the sidewalk. The crowd was lively and everyone was excited. The emergence itself was amazing. The bats streamed out from under the bridge in a huge, swirling mass—it felt like a scene from a nature documentary. We could even hear the sound of their wings as they flew overhead. Watching from the bridge was great, but we also found there were many places to grab food and drinks nearby, which made the evening even better. We were able to get some snacks and drinks beforehand and then had a great spot for dinner afterward. If you're visiting Austin, this is a definite must-do. Just be prepared for crowds and arrive early to snag a good spot!
Marshall C — Google review
The Ann W. Richards Congress Avenue Bridge in Austin is one of the coolest spots in the city. By day, it’s just a regular bridge connecting downtown to South Congress, but at sunset, it turns into something amazing — over a million bats fly out from underneath it! It’s wild to see the sky fill up with them, especially during the summer. You can watch the show right from the bridge, the trails by the lake, or even from a kayak on Lady Bird Lake. It’s one of those classic Austin experiences that feels a little weird, a little magical, and totally worth checking out if you’re in town.
Arch S — Google review
For bat viewing you can stage either north or south of the bridge, on the east side. People were also lined on top of the bridge, looking down, but that was in full sun. There are boat rides you can book as well.
Carrie W — Google review
Staying at the JW means its only 5 minutes walk. If u time it right ie get there 30 minutes before sundown u get to witness mother nature at her best. Over 1.3M bats taking off for their nightly hunt. Its all over in 10-15 minutes and folks will start heading out.

Lamar Blvd Bridge is located just 200 feet away from Pfluger bridge, offering a similar picturesque view. Unlike the Pfluger bridge, Lamar Blvd Bridge lacks dedicated bike lanes and may not be as safe for pedestrians. This is due to its historic status, which prevents significant remodeling to enhance pedestrian safety. In contrast, the nearby Pfluger bridge was specifically designed with pedestrians and cyclists in mind, providing a safer alternative for these travelers.

South Congress Avenue, also known as SoCo, is a vibrant and eclectic neighborhood in Austin. It's a popular destination for visitors looking to experience the city's unique culture. The area is lined with an array of restaurants, boutiques, vintage stores, art galleries, and music venues. Visitors can enjoy strolling down the avenue while taking in colorful street art and sampling delicious local cuisine.
Cool, short street food walking, shopping, and eating. But be ready to spend some money at shops like Lulu and Birkenstock. Lots of iconic venues, notably Gueros and Home Slice. Boots ‘n cowboy hats at Allen’s. Lively couple blocks.

South Congress on a Rainy Day (Update as of July 2025) Spent a rainy afternoon strolling down South Congress Avenue, and it turned out to be one of the most peaceful experiences I’ve had in Austin lately. Even with the light drizzle, the street kept its signature charm—quirky shops, neon signs, and friendly locals, just with a much calmer vibe. The rain seemed to keep the usual crowds away, which made it easier to explore without rushing. I ducked into spots like Allen’s Boots, browsed some gems at South Congress Books, and grabbed a warm latte at Jo’s Coffee (yes, even in the rain, the “I love you so much” wall is still a photo must). It felt cozy, nostalgic, and honestly kind of magical. There’s something special about seeing South Congress this way—slightly quieter, a little softer, but still full of life. It reminded me why this strip is such a staple of Austin culture. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or you’re a local like me just revisiting old favorites, this spot always delivers.

Embark on a unique adventure in Austin by hopping aboard the Lone Star Riverboat, an authentic double-decker paddle wheel riverboat. Take a leisurely cruise along Lady Bird Lake and soak in the city's skyline while learning about its history and landmarks. The guided tours are both educational and entertaining, offering insights into Austin's vibrant culture. Whether you opt for a sunset bat watching tour or a romantic moonlight excursion, the experience promises to be unforgettable.
Highly recommend. Natalie was our tour guide on the Northern Star pontoon and she was terrific. Melissa greeted us, checked us in, and was the tour guide for the Southern Star pontoon; she was great as well. We sat in the front row and could hear all of Natalie's facts, tips, history, and information. That plastic lawn chairs were tolerable. The boat ride was lovely, the information was interesting, our guide was engaging, and the bats . . . The bats were AWESOME! The four of us completely enjoyed ourselves and would do this tour again.

An Unforgettable Family Experience on the Lone Star Riverboat! Our family recently enjoyed a truly fantastic time aboard the Lone Star Riverboat, and we can't recommend it enough! From start to finish, it was an engaging and memorable experience that offered so much more than just a boat ride. The tour provided fascinating insights into the buildings lining Lady Bird Lake, giving us a new appreciation for Austin's architecture and history. As the sun began to set, we were treated to a truly breathtaking display – one of the most beautiful sunsets we've ever seen, painting the sky with incredible colors. Of course, a highlight was witnessing the spectacular emergence of the bats from under the Congress Avenue Bridge. It's an iconic Austin experience, and seeing it from the unique vantage point of the river was absolutely magical. What truly elevated the experience were the knowledgeable guides. They shared a wealth of fun facts about the city, and we learned so much about the incredible bats that migrate all the way from Mexico to Austin, including their vital role in the city's ecosystem. Their commentary was engaging and made the entire tour feel both educational and entertaining. If you're looking for a unique and enjoyable way to experience Austin with your family, complete with stunning views, fascinating history, and an unforgettable natural phenomenon, the Lone Star Riverboat is an absolute must-do! We had a great time and made some wonderful family memories.

What an awesomely unique experience we had on the bat tour with Lone Star riverboats. They weren't exaggerating when they said hundreds of thousands of bats will fly out from under the bridge! They literally fly out for about 20 min! The tour guide did a great job giving a little history of the city. BTW- San Antonio has the largest bat colony! Bring a raincoat in case it rains and a hood to protect from bat droppings... Would highly recommend if visiting Austin.
Denise W — Google review
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and personable. There was plenty of space, even though all seats were filled. Amazing scenery as the sun set. It was extremely dark by the time the Bats came out, so it was very very hard to see them. No fault at all by our tour operator. We still had a great time and enjoyed the tour and scenery. I definitely recommend this tour and would do it again!

Definitely a must do when you’re in Austin. We did the evening bat tour. We had a relaxing paddle down to the bridge. Our guide was informative about the local wildlife. Then we hung out at the bat viewing site until the bats flew. It’s an amazing sight. Then after dark we paddled back to the dock. The night skyline and lights made it a nice trip back to the dock.

Signed up for the bat tour and it did not disappoint!! John was a great guide and very approachable and friendly! Great storytelling throughout the tour with fun facts! I’d highly recommend this if you want to be in awe of the 1.5 million bats that Austin’s known for! A good 3 hours out and back. Be aware that there are large amounts of moss/seaweed/plantlife that can get stuck on your paddle but it is easy to remove if you dunk in the paddle and back out.

Booked the Austin Bat watching Tour with my friend and we had an AMAZING TIME. As someone who never kayaked before Joseph the tour guide was really easy going and helpful to learn from. Loved how Joseph provided a relaxed atmosphere that gave our group room to learn and experiment with our kayaks while also giving stops with cool bat facts and Austin history. Also if you’re visiting Austin and want to see the bats this route is the way to go. You not only get to see the bats from a unique location below the bridge but you also have beautiful sunset water views and an unforgettable Austin Skyline during the journey there and back, which I find the trip to be worth it.

What a unique and incredible experience! Our tour guide, David, was fantastic. So informative, easy to talk to and kind. The bats were incredible - while you can’t always predict their flight pattern or the time they come out, seeing them and hearing them was wild. No better way to see the Austin city skyline and the bats than on the water!

Amazing - an incredibly experience. The bat tour was really good. After paddling with the kajak, we saw een amazing view over the city. I had an amazing experience with Live Love Paddle on their kayak bat tour! The guide was super friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole evening fun and relaxing. Paddling out on Lady Bird Lake at sunset was absolutely beautiful, and watching the bats emerge from the Congress Avenue Bridge was unforgettable. Beware there is very hard to see and little signage but you cannot park here. They have parking enforcement cameras at the gate and will charge you $120 as of 2025. You need a permit and they do not have any warning signs up for downtown events. It will come in the mail weeks later.

Their content is fine, but never have I dealt with such awful customer service people. Two separate people hung up on me because I didn't know which of our many phone numbers (business account) were associated with our account. Finally, I got someone to agree to not hang up on me. He located my account by using the account number, which I was able and ready to provide. Turns out there was no phone number associated with my account, which either of those first two folks would hae been able to figure out - and remedy - if they had bothered to ask, rather than just hanging up.

Just got hit with a $100 FINE for PARKING at what I thought was a free event. They also don’t have any traffic control so you can waste 30 minutes looking for parking where there is none. This is sketchy as hell, can’t believe how for a once great monument of Austin can fall.

Poor customer service for online services. I was charged $98 for a service I don't remember signing up for and the customer service agents refused to help me stoo that payment. The "supervisor" I spoke to interrupted me and became aggressive when I asked where their call center was located. Please be careful signing up for trials. This should be illegal.

Worst buisness practices. They intentionally make it hard to unsubscribe from their paper. Make it impossible to find a support number. I was being send 3 paper bundles a day and didn't even read them. I only subscribed bc of a raffle at a festival. I didn't realize they'd terrorize me for 4 some odd years. From relentless daily calls and emails to stuffing my mailbox w their "you owe us" letters and postcards. I tried to unsub several times from their website it didn't work. I had to dispute the credit card charges, which led to the calls. They found another way to charge me from another buisness I guess. Had to pick through the charges w a fine tooth comb to figure it out. I ended up just canceling that card. When they called they said I owed them like 23$. Im like naur. I asked to speak to manager and he was the most aggressive person I've ever encountered over phone. It was also like talking to a brick wall. He threatened me w sending my case to collections. I'm like ok bring it on turkey. They never did actually do that to my knowledge. The emails still come but I finally got it all to direct itself to the spam folder. I moved, got a new phone number and finally the calls stopped. This is extremely predatory especially since the people who seem to love the newspaper still are older people, who are also most suseptible to scams. I cant imagine my grandpa trying to navigate this house of hoopla. Someone needs to sue them ASAP.

The Texas Capitol, a stunning 1888 granite and marble structure, boasts a remarkable rotunda and dome along with House and Senate chambers. Adjacent to this historic site is the Bullock Texas State History Museum, named after Lieutenant Governor Bob Bullock. The museum offers interactive exhibits across three main themes: the founding of Texas, the state's history and name origins, and opportunities within the state.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A grand and iconic building in the heart of Austin! The Texas Capitol is a stunning piece of architecture—made from granite and marble, with a beautiful rotunda and dome that make it feel both historic and majestic. The grounds are well-kept and spacious, perfect for a peaceful stroll. Inside, you can explore the House and Senate chambers, and the immersive view of the building from above is absolutely breathtaking. Located at 1100 Congress Ave, Austin, TX, the Capitol is part of the Texas Confederate Memorial Lawn, which adds a historical layer to your visit. It’s currently closed but opens daily at 7 AM—plan to come early to beat the crowds. Definitely a must-see for anyone visiting Austin or interested in Texas history.

I enjoyed walking through the rotunda, seeing the portraits of past governors, and learning more about Texas’ unique political history. The Texas Capitol is a must-see in Austin. It’s impressive from the outside, but definitely worth stepping inside too. The building is beautiful, full of history, and free to visit. Everything is well maintained, and the atmosphere is calm and welcoming. A great place to walk around, learn something new, and take some great photos. A solid stop if you’re exploring the city.

The Texas State Capitol in Austin is an absolute must-visit and one of the finest state capitols in the United States. Nestled in the heart of downtown, this historic landmark stands tall with its impressive architecture, rich history, and beautifully maintained grounds. From the moment you approach the building, you’re struck by its grandeur. The pink granite exterior gives it a unique character, and the rotunda is truly breathtaking once inside. The interior features intricate details, historic paintings, and sculptures that reflect the pride and legacy of Texas. The dome itself is higher than the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., which is quite impressive. The Capitol is open to the public and offers free guided tours throughout the day. These tours are very informative, covering everything from Texas history to the legislative process. The guides are knowledgeable and passionate, making the experience both educational and enjoyable. You can also choose to do a self-guided tour if you prefer to explore at your own pace. The Capitol grounds are expansive and beautifully landscaped, making it a great spot to walk around, relax, or take pictures. Statues and memorials throughout the grounds add to the experience, each telling a different part of Texas history. Whether you’re a history buff, architecture enthusiast, or just a curious visitor, the Texas State Capitol offers something for everyone. It’s a place where you can truly feel the pride Texans have for their state. And best of all — it’s free to visit! Highly recommend setting aside a few hours for this remarkable site. It’s a shining example of Texas history and government, and a highlight of any trip to Austin.

Today was a awesome day at the Texas State capitol, I initially went just to make a contribution to google maps cause a few of my friends asked if I could but then without any kind of notice a group of young mariachis, an Aztec dance group in full regalia out of Houston and a Mexican vaquera soldadera who too was from Houston,I apologize for not asking your name but I hope your picture alone gives you justice, you made a outstanding performance and I personally applaud you,,as for the eagle and Jaguar knights special shout out to conrado Acevedo and kind heart and the rest of the Houston Aztec dance group,, and last but not least id also like to give a shout out to the local mariachi group from Akins high school, there was plenty of singing and dancing and all kinds of Instruments keeping sync from each performing group at times your occasional grito can be heard, there are restrooms and water fountains and it is wheelchair accessible, the grounds are very well kept, with monuments and dedication plaques at different points of the capitol grounds and you already know there is always a large police presence, tours are free and there is one in English and also one in Spanish of course at different times and they start out of the southern foyer, there are plenty of benches in and outside the capitol bldg, so one can take a break and breathe in all the history and stare in awe as you look around and see how beautiful and spacious the inside of the capitol is,,it never got to crowded and please be respectful and take your hat off within the bldg, outside it's cool all day every day,if you have never done one thing outside the norm and your from Texas, please before you get any older take a trip and visit your state capitol,I strongly recommend you take your kids and/or grandkids,,I promise you will never forget the experience... enjoy

Visited Mount Bonnell during my trip to Austin. You’ll walk up a few steps to reach the viewpoint, where you get a nice view from the top. It’s absolutely gorgeous. It’s a nice view of the river and the skyline and it’s free, so there’s not really a reason to not go. The stairs up to the view is very short. There’s a big table at the top you can sit on to be raised up. It’s a great place to yap and chill with people. It’s really pretty at night, and I’m sure it’s also beautiful in the day too.

Coming from Tarrytown, I hiked up to Mount Bonnell early one morning to avoid the heat. The path was straightforward, a mix of paved sections and natural trails that took maybe 10 minutes from the top. I felt a sense of calm watching the sunrise over the Texas Hill country with the Pennybacker Bridge arching in the distance, the views of the river homes along Lake Austin were striking all those rooftops nestled in the trees. It’s free and accessible, but the lack of shade made me glad I went early worth it for that fresh perspective on Austin‘s landscape

The University of Texas at Austin is a prominent higher education institution known for its extensive research program and expansive campus featuring four museums. The university's rich history is showcased through various landmarks, including statues of influential figures like Barbara Jordan. Additionally, the campus boasts unique features such as buildings constructed with Texas limestone that showcase fossil imprints. On game days, the university comes alive with enthusiastic Longhorn fans and rival supporters filling the stadium and surrounding grounds for an unforgettable experience.
UT Austin isn’t just a top-tier school — it’s a machine. World-class academics, booming innovation, top-ranked programs across engineering, business, and liberal arts, and all located in one of the most vibrant, opportunity-rich cities in the country. You come here to build empires, not just take notes. Compare that to UC Davis — the UC system’s most overhyped compost pile. At UT, you’re encouraged to think boldly, speak freely, and lead. At Davis, you better memorize the groupthink script or risk being socially exiled by people who confuse activism with intellectual depth. Independent thought? Questioning norms? At Davis, that’s how you get flagged as “problematic” by students who can’t handle a basic debate without clutching their pearls. Let’s talk numbers: UT Austin grads are walking into six-figure careers, startups, and grad schools that matter. UC Davis grads? ~$54K median income 10 years after enrolling. That’s not success — that’s a participation trophy with a student loan attached. UT Austin builds leaders. UC Davis builds compliant mid-level staffers with LinkedIn bios full of buzzwords and zero real impact. So yeah — Hook ’em. We’re not the same…..

The stadium boasts a seating capacity of 11,631 and offers fantastic views from every seat, including premium areas like the Intel Club, pool and spa party area, Premium Seats behind home plate, and four Topps tables.
Minor league baseball stadium for Round Rock express. One of the few professional sports teams in the Austin area. Really nice stadium for the minor leagues, seemed to have a lot of restaurants and amenities. Tickets were reasonably priced (unlike a certain stadium in Austin proper): $31 for seats just left of home plate. The game was fairly well attended (we went on Friday) and it was a good fan experience. At the time of writing, they do a fireworks show after the game on Fridays. Recommended for a fun night out with family / friends.

We spent a little over $1,000 for the tickets for both us. They do have cheaper options and for those lucky enough they have more expensive options as well. We added the Intel Club and for about $25 per person they have a buffet set up with a rotating menu. This is gourmet food not hotdogs. It’s truly a good value. All of the staff are extremely nice! Shout to Aaron Verwald our sales rep! He provides great customer service all season long! I highly recommend that if you are interested in season membership you call them and ask for Aaron! Go Express! Go Rangers! Here to many more seasons to come!

We had a great experience here. I wish, though, that the food vendor prices could be less expensive. It cost $16 for my chicken bacon sandwich, and most burgers and sandwiches cost this. It's like airport food prices.

Love the tourists and the variety of businesses they have to offer,,the sight of the capitol building as you get closer to it,is amazing, there are plenty of ppl but not overly crowded.there are plenty of bus stops along the way, not to much parking areas , so it's more convenient to pay for a parking elsewhere then walk congress ave to soak in all it has to offer,, sometime after capitol grounds are closed and congress ave has slowed down many of locals and tourists alike ride scooters throughout the area and enjoy it's night life offering,,I highly recommend sitting on the park benches at the end of congress ave just before you cross the street to capitol grounds ,that's if your looking for a private and romantic moment, seeing the way the states capitol lights up at night is very beautiful and inspiring, there's always something to do here

Darrell K Royal Texas Memorial Stadium, located at the University of Texas, is home to the Texas Longhorns football team. As a member of the Big 12 Conference, this stadium has witnessed numerous victories and is one of the largest in the world with a capacity exceeding 100,000. The game day experience is unparalleled with pregame shows featuring the world's largest Texas flag and Big Bertha, as well as an impressive halftime performance by the band.
Attending a game here is like nothing you’ll ever experience!!! I’m so proud to have attended games here for four years and ending my time at UT with an amazing commencement ceremony!!! Parking is definitely tricky - I would recommend going early to get a good spot. In addition, if you’re attending an event during the day, plan for sun and heat, aka typical Texas weather!!!
Sadie S — Google review
Attended graduation here as a guest. There was no parking instructions on the commencement info page from the school. Many of the few garage parkings nearest to the stadium and streets to access these garages were blocked off. These garages and few lots that exist were full or closed with no indication of them marked as already full. So many people still drove through these garages and lots only to have to drive back out. The staff inside the stadium did not instruct the guests on where to go, nor were there signs indicating which sections were already full. Everyone had to repeatedly go up and down stairs to go through each of the entries to peek out onto the stadium bleachers and look up to see where there were still seats open. I felt bad for the less able attendees. We had to go seek out staff and inquire where to go in order to get a seat. The ramps to go to upper levels and elevators were difficult to find and lacked signage altogether. It was the most confusing and frantic scramble I’ve ever experienced at any other major sporting stadium.

Iconic. If you bleed orange then you know how legendary D.K.R. is. There's nothing like watching the Longhorns win a game at this iconic stadium. No matter if you're sitting on the 50 yard line or in the upper bowl you are going to have a memorable experience each and every time you come to this stadium.

The University of Texas at Austin's Darrell K. Royal Stadium (DKR) is so, so legendary!! As an alumni of UT Austin, I visited DKR several times when I was a student at The University of Texas. This stadium is SO beautiful, and it really encompasses the energy + the Longhorn pride that exists within UT Austin. The space is clean, well-kept, there are a bunch of vending options throughout the stadium. It is easy to navigate, and the stadium's staff are very kind & helpful! You must visit DKR if you are on UT Austin's campus - going to a game is non-negotiable. :-) Hook 'em, Horns!!

The stadium is great but needs places to charge your phone. The food is horrible. I got a burger and fries for $16 . The burger was dry and hard with no flavor. The fries were dry and hard. At the end of the game I began to feel nauseous.

The Austin Central Library, also known as the Austin Public Library, is a modern architectural marvel designed by Lake Flato. This six-floor library offers a community-oriented environment with gravity-defying bridges and staircases connecting its various levels. Visitors can enjoy reading rooms, an outdoor rooftop lounge, and a dedicated kids' wing featuring a wide range of books and interactive activities.
First time visiting the downtown library and I was very impressed. The building itself is beautiful inside and out. There are art installations throughout as well as an area for local art they change out that was nice. It is multi level and has several areas to read/ study/ designated quiet areas/ meeting rooms as well as tables in the middle section of the building where you can read and study and converse. There are plugs all over for phones/ computers etc as well as various seating all over - single chairs, sofas, pairs of chairs and chair/tables. There is a rooftop outdoor area that was a nice surprise- I was not expecting that. The computers to look up books etc are everywhere and easy to use. You can click and find out where the book (or dvd or what else) is located on the map which was really nice and helpful. They also offer several different types of classes including a 3D printing class. You do have to pay to park if you stay over an hour which I feel discourages people from hanging out. Interesting as it feels like it is designed for people to come and stay but then they only allow one hour free parking. I guess they feel people would park and go other places but I would imagine there are ways to monitor that.

Amazing attraction. Rooftop has garden views. You can sit and hang out, view the art attractions, read books. Only issue is with the homeless population. But still lots of fun and definitely worth viewing

Free parking for the first hour. This library is beautiful. The 3rd floor children’s area has a huge chess set and several smaller ones. There are lots of seating options. Outdoor and indoor. The children’s area staff are so nice and welcoming. My son is excited to do the craft they offered. We took it to go. The teen area has laptops for four hours and a teen only designated space. The 6th floor has a very pretty outdoor seating area with views. There are walkable locations for food in the area. Including the cafe on site, which has lots of seating and a nice view. Trader Joe’s is a block away too. Great spot for locals and tourists.

Haven’t been back to the Austin Central Public Library in a while, but heard they recently opened a new café inside—so it felt like the perfect time to revisit. The space is still just as stunning as ever, with its modern design, open layout, and cozy reading spots. The rooftop garden view never gets old, and now with the coffee shop, it’s even easier to spend a few hours here. Whether it’s for studying, relaxing, or just enjoying the quiet atmosphere, this library remains one of the best public spaces in Austin.

Stunning location, architecture, ambiance, charging stations, outdoors access, roof garden, coffee shop and book store. Elevators or take the stairs kids and parents can play on life size chess board! Very contemporary non stereotypical library experience modernize 2025 and beyond! Well Done! Displaying Modern centerpiece Art is probably not out of the question, to cap off this Modern Masterpiece of a library,it's off the Colorado River!!!
Indigo 2 — Google review
This library is an architecturally impressive, multi-story building with a great selection of books and plenty of cozy spaces to read, study, or explore. A couple of things: parking is only free for the first hour, which sounds great—but realistically, most visits last longer, so you should expect to pay. It’s not a huge deal, but something to note. Also, given the downtown location, the library serves a broad and diverse population, including many individuals experiencing homelessness. While it’s admirable that the library remains open and welcoming to all, there are a few areas, especially the near entrances, that can feel unclean or smell unpleasant. It’s unfortunate, and while I understand the challenges, it can affect the overall experience—especially with young children. Lastly, during the summer reading challenge, kids were rewarded with a free book. I was disappointed to find that most of the book selections seemed to be pushing very specific agendas. Public libraries should remain as neutral as possible, especially when it comes to content directed at children. Let’s encourage reading for joy, curiosity, and learning—without steering toward any one agenda.

Stunning library. Huge and beautiful design. Plenty of different spaces to study, read, or play board games. Significant amounts of books and there’s also plenty of computers for usage. Additionally, there’s a charming café inside that offers good coffee. A must visit place in Austin.

A reader’s paradise / dream come true. Beautiful architecture, amazing design, extensive collection of books and such thoughtful furniture. Absolutely loved it. One can easily spend a day here. The 6th floor roof garden is gorgeous with amazing views of the lake and buildings. Open and spread out seating. The inside staircase of the library is gorgeous! One would be in awe of the well thought out design. Kids section is super cute with some games, large size chess board, arts / crafts area, computers with games and an outdoor reading porch area. Bummer that the coffee shop was closed. Gift shop was nice but very overly priced. There was a lot of staff on each floor to assist / answer questions. They also had a movie playing with headsets on the entrance of the library. PARKING : There is a parking garage attached to the Library on West St.

Auditorium Shores is more than just a park—it’s where Austin shows off. I’ve been here for everything from reggae festivals to food and wine events to surprise concerts during SXSW. The energy is always electric, especially when the music starts and the sun begins to dip behind the skyline. The open space is perfect for big crowds, and the sound carries beautifully across Lady Bird Lake. You can dance barefoot in the grass, lounge on a picnic blanket, or stroll along the trails while catching live sets. Even when there’s no event, it’s a great place to unwind, walk your dog, or catch golden hour by the water. And if you’re visiting during New Year’s or the 4th of July, the fireworks here are awesome! I totally recommend coming to enjoy the stunning display while soaking in the vibrant atmosphere.

Nice park. The grandson had so much fun. I wish they had swings or something to play on in the shade. Bring gloves and thick pants if you want to swing or play on the slides. The water park portion was just the right amount of water for a hot day. Overall such a fun place. Bring turtle food, as the turtles seem well trained to expect something from people that walk out onto the piers.

One of my favorite spots in Austin. The view of downtown from here is amazing, especially around sunset. It’s perfect for a walk, run, or just relaxing by the water. There’s plenty of space for dogs, families, and even small events, but it still feels peaceful. The trail connection makes it super easy to keep walking along Lady Bird Lake. Definitely a must-visit if you want a mix of nature and city vibes in one place.

Pennybacker Bridge Overlook, also known as the 360 Bridge, offers breathtaking views of Lake Austin and the downtown skyline. The trail to the overlook provides a bit of a climb, so it's advisable to wear appropriate footwear and arrive early due to its popularity. The spot is perfect for hikers of all levels and promises an incredible sunset view. Located at 5300 N Capital of Texas Hwy, this iconic structure is a must-visit for anyone seeking stunning vistas in Austin.
Been bringing dates here since I could crawl! The view is stunning and always a pleasure to share the experience with. The littering has significantly improved but still persists. It’s a small hike to the top and definitely not ADA compliant but very much worth carrying her to the top if you should so dare attempt. Humidity was rough Saturday morning so don’t expect to spend more than 30 minutes here. It gets busy so plan your trip accordingly.
Kantian R — Google review
Scenic spot for some amazing pictures. You get a perfect skyline view of the city and the river. Also overlooking the golf course as well. There are spots to park, but if its busy those spots can fill up fast especially in the evenings potentially. Its a short walk up the side to the top but we'll worth the views.
Ngawang S — Google review
This place is gorgeous! Worth the little hike up for the gorgeous views, there's no barriers so be careful with the edges especially with the little ones! There's some parking at the bottom, and even people selling some grilled foods like corns in a temporary stall setup, but be careful not to drive your car too far in, seen some people get their car stuck in the dip.
Sventek — Google review
The Pennybacker Bridge, affectionately known by locals and visitors alike as the "360 Bridge," transcends its function as a mere thoroughfare; for me, it embodies a profound sense of awe and continuous discovery. Having resided in Austin for over 15 years, the captivating panorama that unfolds with each crossing remains as fresh and astonishing as my very first encounter. Its striking architectural design, characterized by a distinctive, graceful arch, spans the shimmering expanse of the Colorado River, effortlessly framing and enhancing the already breathtaking vistas of the surrounding Texas Hill Country. This iconic landmark not only serves as a vital artery connecting the city but also stands as a testament to the seamless integration of human ingenuity and natural beauty, offering a constant reminder of Austin's unique charm and the serene grandeur of its landscape. For many, the "Pennybacker Bridge Overlook" is the perfect Saturday morning escape after a night out in Austin's vibrant nightlife. It’s a truly special place to witness a peaceful, quiet sunrise. From there, you can gaze at the magnificent Pennybacker Bridge, watch the Colorado River flow serenely underneath, and observe the boats and jet skis crossing by. It's a moment of tranquility that brings a calming end to an exciting night and creates an unmatched memory of their time in Austin, truly encapsulating the unique blend of urban sophistication and natural charm that Austin embodies.
Haythem H — Google review
It was a really nice place. I would say that people of all ages, including kids, can go there and enjoy a great view of the bridges and mountains. There's a small hill that takes about five minutes to climb, and from the top, you can have a lovely view with your friends. The food, including fries and fruits, is available at the bottom near the freeway. However, parking can be difficult to find; it’s a small cut-out area that isn’t paved. You need to be careful when parking, but other than that, it's definitely a nice place to visit.
BINITA R — Google review
Despite nearby construction and subsequent traffic congestion, what a lovely spot to visit if you enjoy scenic views of Austin. It’s a super short, rocky hike up to the lookout point that will take you 10 mins at most. Surprised it didn’t have guardrails as there were some beer cans scattered/hidden throughout, which fortunately made the views that much better. With limited parking, highly recommend you go during the weekday or early weekend as there’s limited parking. Pictures don’t it justice and more impressive in person. @mykoreaneats

Visiting never gets old. The view from the overlook above Pennybacker Bridge is one of the best in Austin—especially around sunrise or sunset. It's a short, slightly rocky hike up, but totally worth it. Great spot for photos, relaxing, or just taking in the scenery. Parking can be tight on weekends, so go early if you can. A must-see if touring, and a peaceful go-to if you're local!

The Statesman Bat Observation Center is located on the east side of the Ann Richards Congress Avenue Bridge in Austin. It offers a front-row seat to witness the emergence of millions of Mexican free-tailed bats from April to October. The bats create a mesmerizing sight as they leave their colony at dusk to hunt for insects, with volunteers from Bat Conservation International available to provide information about these fascinating creatures.
We sat on the hillside near the bridge, and when the bats started coming out, they continued for 40 minutes or so. I did not like the boats shining red lights on the bats to make them come out. I believe it interferes with their own patterns. Nobody likes to be wakened that way, why would we do it to any creature? Let them come out on their own, and enjoy their flight! Fascinating, fun and wonderful to watch!
Amy G — Google review
This was the most oddly interesting experience. The combination of the spectators on the bridge, the water, and in a small park below the fridge, I mean this is hundreds of people’s. 2 dozen kayaks, like 2 barges full of people. Hundreds and hundreds of people come out to see it. In the picture it’s still early and people just started arriving.
Danny R — Google review
Amazing, definitely worth checking out. We're really glad we went. Be careful of parking heard a lot of bad things. Lasts a lot longer than we thought. The bats were quite talkative too lol

Please be advised that the odor of guano is quite potent. I arrived a bit too early, as there was no accurate indication of when they would emerge from beneath the bridge, but I was able to indulge in an overpriced ice cream treat for myself and my family. Other vendors provided live music, while another offered caricature drawings. If you wish to avoid a wait, it is advisable to arrive at sunset. And don't forget the bug spray.

Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is a vibrant airport in the Austin area, known for its regular live music performances and numerous artworks. The city of Austin itself is a diverse and lively destination, with a mix of cowboys, hipsters, and a colorful LGBT scene. It hosts major events like the Austin City Limits Festival and South by Southwest (SXSW). The city also boasts rich history, innovative food, art and culture, as well as outdoor activities.
Wow what an exciting airport. This is like a mall experience while waiting for your flight. Thank goodness they are getting ready to build new terminals because it is super super crowded here. I’ve never seen an airport with so many people. One of the cool things is, they had a live band playing at the bar next to my gate. The people are friendly here so at least while you’re in the crowd, you make new friends. It was also really easy getting into the airport from the interstate. Bringing back the rental car was really easy. We even got a ride from the rental car return to the terminal. If you’re coming from Dallas, don’t drive just take a flight on Southwest.
Chanda M — Google review
First time at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. Seemed like a small airport and a lot of construction was going on! Being small had its perks too - it was a quick walk to baggage claim and from there another short walk to get an uber!Noticed there weren’t many lounge options unfortunately. “Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is known for featuring regular live music performances and numerous artworks. The airport is undergoing a major expansion to increase its capacity to handle over 31 million passengers annually, with construction expected to be completed by 2040.”
Arch S — Google review
I had a three hour layover here, so I can’t speak to security or checking in. But this airport was large, spacious, clean, bright, and so many things to do and see. I took the time to walk all the terminals and was overwhelmed by fun choices. I especially like the unique vending machines: coffee, cupcakes, Legos, protein, bowls, parent/baby needs. There is daily live music in a food court area along with a taco truck and plenty of seating located across from gate 18. Across from gate 20 is an independent bookstore. Yes a little independent Corky bookstore. The food choices are unlimited, from a candy store and an ice cream parlor to barbecue chicken sandwiches and sit down restaurants. Of course there are burgers and pizza. Lots of grab and go. There were so many bathrooms, and no lines. The shops were full of really interesting Texas stuff and souvenirs, as well as goodies. The price is ranged from reasonable to really expensive. The people were nice, and there was plenty of places to walk. Grateful for my living over here.

I had a layover at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, and it was surprisingly pleasant! The airport is modern, clean, and well-organised, making navigation easy and stress-free. There are plenty of dining options featuring local flavours, from barbecue to Tex-Mex, and the coffee shops are perfect for a quick pick-me-up. Free Wi-Fi and comfortable seating make waiting enjoyable, and the friendly staff adds a welcoming touch. If you have some time between flights, the airport even has art installations and a small observation area to stretch your legs. Austin Airport makes layovers convenient and enjoyable!

Mid size airport and one of the nicest. 34 gates total I believe and there are plans of expanding to accommodate more travelers by 2030. Main concourse is basically just a straight line, very easy to navigate . Design is bright and have plenty of open space. TSA checkpoint was pretty fast when I was there. Even during government shutdown.
FriedChicken — Google review
I've flown in & out of this airport a few times now and its pretty good. There are a ton of stores & restaurants to entertain you while you wait for your flight. It's an airport, so it's expensive but I've definitely seen worse at other airports. TSA is always quick and easy and the agents are usually polite. My flights are never late when I fly here either.
LiME L — Google review
I traveled on a Monday thinking it would be less crowded. I was wrong. Everyone is trying to leave Austin on a Monday. Security lines were long, check-in lines were long, and the bathroom lines were long. I'm going to assume short staff. There were not enough seats to accommodate every person in the airport waiting for a flight. We had a service animal with us, and there was only 1 pet relief station along the gates we were at. We were at the farthest end of one side (gate 33), and the only relief station was all the way down by gate 9. It took us 30 minutes to get through the walking traffic there and back. The announcements for the gates for delta airlines were quiet, and we couldn't hear when they were calling our zones to board. Southwest could be heard every time over the intercom. Even from the other end of the gate way.
Analisa H — Google review
Nice little airport easy to access, TSA was a little backed up but they were rapid enough to keep the lines moving. Seemed like Parts of the airport was under renovation, I will be excited to come back to see the difference or new look. Rental car was a walking distance away from the terminal as well.

How does one write the Hancock center? By itself pretty challenging, but it does get major points for having: HEB A pet store A liquor store Ups store A variety of food joints. So you can go get your groceries, booze, and pet groomed at the same time. 😋

They were remolding, can't stand the loss prevention people at HEB. Also the cahier was kinda shitty. When did HEB change their bagging policy. Cahier handed me bags to bag my own groceries. Check out belt where you put your items was shorter than normal and the space to stand in line was also smaller, like the shopping shelves across from check out lanes was too close so it felt very crowded due to how close people had to stand to be able to let people by down the Main isle

Ramen restaurant
Ramen Tatsu-Ya is a renowned multi-location eatery in Austin that offers inventive Japanese fare for pickup and delivery. Since 2012, the executive chefs and co-owners have been introducing Austinites to high-quality ramen with flavorful, slow-cooked broths and a variety of ramen dishes. The restaurant also offers smoked meats, matcha snickerdoodles, curries, hot dogs, wings, beer, and sake for at-home enjoyment.
I am in town with Waterloo Turf, and I was incredibly impressed with my experience at Tatsu-Ya! I had the OG ramen and added the Thai Chili spice bomb. I also had the Thai Chili Gyoza and it was amazing. Will definitely be coming back next time I’m in town.

After eating at almost every other Ramen Tatsuya location we decided to give the East 6th Street location a try and man were we impressed. The restaurant’s decor is very nice but the real star is the back alley they have. The alley features a few booths and an open area with a bar that you order food and drinks from. There’s a water jug out there and you can get cups at the bar to self serve from it. Ordering was quick and the food came out fast as well but I will say that if you need a fork or soup spoons you should ask when your food arrives because we couldn’t find any once our waiter was gone. As for the food itself, it was pretty good. We’ve eaten so much at this chain that we have concluded you will never receive lower than a 7/10 bowl here, in this outing’s case we would put the bowls around 8 to 8.5/10. The OG is always flavorful and well balanced; lately we’ve been enjoying the Shoyu and its different toppings as well. For a quick dinner before you lose yourself in the chaos of Dirty Sixth, we highly recommend this Tatsuya location.
Amber L — Google review
The OG ramen is tasty but it's also fatty and salty. The charsu pork was good mix of fatty and lean, and it breaks apart easily. The noodles were bland. The MI-SO-HOT is spicy spicy so expect a not so fun party in your mouth and the pork pieces was nowhere as good as the charsu pork from the OG ramen. The servers were really nice and friendly. They gave some great recommendations for things to do in the area.

Vanessa is hands down the best bartender ever! She gave me amazing recommendations on both food apps and drinks, and every single one was spot on. Her energy, friendliness, and knowledge made the night such a great experience. If you’re at Domo on E 6th, definitely ask for Vanessa—you won’t be disappointed!

This ramen was the best I had in a while. The chili oil gyoza was the icing on the cake. Even my mom who’s never had ramen said it was a 5 out 5!!!!!! I will be back next time I’m in Austin.

I absolutely loved the OG tonkatsu ramen! The service was quick and warm-hearted. Just a heads-up: it's cashless, and outdoor seating opens a bit later, but it's well worth the visit!
Maria G — Google review
Ramen Tatsu-Ya in Austin is a rare find in ramen excellence. Including the recent special, there are nine different ramen bowls on the menu, two of which are vegan. In addition, they have a nice selection of flavor “bombs” available, from which you may add to taste. Extra toppings are available as well. Small bites like edamame and gyoza, and sides like rice and salad can also be found on the menu. For me, I went with the featured special and dove right into a most delicious bowl of Texas Tonk Brisket Ramen. I don’t think I’ve ever had a ramen bowl quite so unique and flavorful. Between the pork broth, brisket juices, the jalapeños, and the house “Thunder Oil”, my mouth exploded in an absolutely wonderful flavor orgasm, and my face was on fire - all in a good way. Server Armand was most friendly and attentive throughout my visit. Highly recommended.

Rowing Dock is a popular spot for hourly boat rentals, group events, and lessons for kayaks, canoes, and stand-up paddle boards. They also offer pedal-driven kayaks for those with upper-body injuries or anyone looking to try something new. Located upstream, it's an ideal starting point for exploring Red Bud Isle and the less-developed areas of Lady Bird Lake.
My husband and I came from out of town and wanted to try something different. We came here with some friends and had the best time. We got a double kayak and it was $25 for an hour. Not bad at all. After the first hour you can get charged by the half hour. They also have cubbies to store your belongings when on Lady Bird Lake. It was beautiful out there. They also have beverages available for purchase in case you didn’t bring any. I definitely recommend bringing some drinks or snacks to have while you’re out there. Definitely recommend going if you’re looking for a fun outdoor activity!

Pennybacker Bridge, also known as the 360 Bridge, is a weathered steel arch bridge that offers stunning views for drivers, bikers, and pedestrians. Perched on rugged cliffs overlooking Lake Austin, the 360 Pennybacker Bridge Cliff Overlook provides a breathtaking panorama of the majestic bridge spanning the tranquil waters below. Nestled in Texas Hill Country, this iconic vantage point showcases sweeping vistas of lush greenery and the meandering Colorado River.

Visited Austin, and this was my first time at Pennybacker Bridge. Initially, I found parking a bit tricky, but I figured out that you can park roadside near the fruit stalls and then take the steps up to the viewpoint. The view from the top is incredible you can see the river and watch boats cruising below. There are about three great spots to take stunning photos. Definitely a must-visit while in Austin!

Pennybacker Bridge where Steel Meets Sky in Perfect Harmony 🌉✨ If bridges had a runway, Pennybacker would be the supermodel. Sleek, scenic, and photogenic from every angle it’s Austin’s version of a postcard that never gets old. 🚗 Driving Over: A moment of quiet awe. One second you’re cruising down 360, the next you’re gliding over a masterpiece with Lake Austin shimmering below like it’s trying to impress you. 📸 The Overlook: Hike up the nearby cliff (worth every step) and get hit with a panoramic view that screams “update your profile picture now.”Sunrise? Stunning. Sunset? Life-changing. Even cloudy days look poetic up here. 🌳 Surroundings: Nestled in the hills and wrapped in Hill Country charm it’s nature and engineering doing a perfect two-step. Some come for the view. Others come for the vibe. But everyone leaves a little more in love with Austin. 10/10 would cross again, even in traffic.

The Pennybacker Bridge, affectionately known as the "360 Bridge," is more than just an iconic Austin landmark; for me, it's a constant source of wonder. Even after living in this city for over 15 years, the scenic beauty I encounter every time I cross the bridge never ceases to amaze me. Its distinctive arch design, stretching gracefully over the Colorado River, always offers breathtaking views of the surrounding Hill Country. One of my absolute favorite spots to visit is the "Pennybacker Bridge Overlook." It's a truly special place to witness a peaceful, quiet sunrise. From there, I can gaze at the magnificent bridge, watch the Colorado River flow serenely underneath, and observe the boats and jet skis crossing by. It's a moment of tranquility that truly encapsulates the unique blend of urban sophistication and natural charm that Austin embodies. The bridge itself is a testament to modern architecture, blending seamlessly with the natural environment, and for me, it's a beloved and enduring feature of the Austin landscape that I cherish deeply.

If you’re visiting and want a signature Austin experience, I highly recommend checking out this spot: it has a little bit of everything nature, peace, and a light hike that’s easy enough for kids, yet refreshing for adults. Whether you’re a first-timer or a local, it’s one of those places that reminds you why Austin is so special.

Wow! This view point of the Pennybacker Bridge does not disappoint. I've lived in Austin for 20 years and this was the first time I've visited this lookout. It was beautiful! The hike to the lookout was fairly easy. I took my young niece and nephews and they had no trouble getting up. Definitely would not recommend for immobile or elderly people. If you have the chance visit this location. Wear comfortable hiking shoes, bring water, and get ready to take some memorable pictures.

Threadgills is a southern restaurant located in Austin, TX. The restaurant is famous for its delicious meatloaf, garlic cheese grits, and Creole cabbage. The restaurant also features live music and a Sunday gospel brunch.
Cool place to eat comfort food. Located close to Austin downtown. A historic restaurant with nostalgic history. Fried pickles were pretty good. Parking was easy to find but I went during middle of the week during a slow time. There is a bar and a restaurant area with outdoor seating. The menu had plenty of options. Overall a good choice for comfort food. There wasn’t any live music when I went.

Great Southern cooking; unlimited side refills. Not the original, but equal quality. Solid brunch. Big enough that service can be slow. I'd recommend it for a family outing, especially if looking for hearty hot plates.

Unique venue within walking distance from a few local hotels. The place easily accommodates large groups and the staff is helpful and friendly. The menu has a wide selection of entrees and long list of sides. I had the "world famous" chicken fried steak. The meat was good, but I want a fan of the heavy batter but both of the sides were excellent. The ribeye which my colleagues had looked better, but on the rather fatty side.

Austin Bat Tours is a tour agency that specializes in offering tours to see the largest population of Mexican free-tailed bats in North America, during the season (April/May and late July/early August). The tours are offered from their seasonal home, the Congress Avenue bridge.
Our daughter in law took us while we in town visiting. We were not prepared for how AWESOME this tour was. Just an incredible thing to see. The guides were fun and the boats were clean. We highly recommend!
Kim S — Google review
It was faiely interesting. Our guide was very informative and friendly. The bats didn't swarm like we expected, so a little disappointed.
Jools M — Google review
It is a decent outdoor activity for a family but nothing special about it. The tour offers good downtown views. You also see bats under the bridge but it's dark, it's hard to see and almost everything can be sighted from the bridge or the bank. Take this tour if you want to spend sometime in a pontoon without much expectations.

Thanks so much!

Holy bat cloud, Batman! This was a bucket list spot to visit for my son and I both. We had a blast watching the endless bats stream out from beneath the bridge at dusk. We love bats, and this is the most we have ever seen at once. I love how the local community has embraced these wonderful creatures and encourages others to appreciate them as well. Go watch the bats, you won't regret it. This made a great memory for us.
Amanda T — Google review
So we’ve been wanting to see the bats, but they were a no show. Now we did see and hear a few that flew over us. Talked to a local and he mentioned that May, June is best for a great view! So we’ll definitely make it back down there. Luckily The view was incredible!
Eluteria G — Google review
Haven't been here in many years, brought my kids for the 1st time and it's still a cool experience. It gets very packed on the bridge and on the hill. I recommend bringing chairs and snacks lol. We arrived at 6 and picked our spot, by 7 the bridge was filling up and by 8 the area was pretty full, standing room only on the bridge. The grassy hill next to the bridge is still a great viewing area, no matter what the gentleman with the bat hat tries to tell you. The trees along the water have grown much higher over the years so you won't see the bats flying out over the water. HOWEVER, you do get to see the first signs of the bats emerging from underneath the bridge which for this time of year (3rd weekend in June) was about 840-ish. For about 15 mins or so the bats fly around underneath, and as more start to emerge they come out a little further. Later in the summer, Aug /Sept the baby bats are usually able to fly, which makes for even more bats flying around, plus they tend to emerge a little sooner than dusk. I'm sure the view from on top of the bridge is also great, and perhaps I'll try it another time. But we enjoyed watching them from the hillside next to the bridge. (See my pics) oh and there is a nice bike/walking path while you wait. Closest bathroom that I could find is the Hyatt hotel. Take the path under the bridge, you will see a flight of stairs going up the hill, at the top to your right is a small patio. You can enter that way into the lobby area. There's a Starbucks in there also!

Zilker Park Boat Rentals is a great option for those looking to explore Lady Bird Lake by renting kayaks or stand-up paddleboards. The staff is known for being friendly and helpful, making the experience enjoyable for visitors of all ages. The rental location offers a picturesque setting with abundant wildlife and local charm, adding to the overall appeal of the activity. Additionally, nearby amenities such as Houndstooth Coffee provide an opportunity to refuel with unique coffee creations after a day on the water.
It is fairly straightforward to rent a boat here. Just fill out a waiver and you’re good to go. Prices are fairly reasonable, and they do provide life jackets as well. We had the option between paddleboards, canoes, and kayaks. We had a pretty large party, so some of us did paddle boarding. Other canoeing, my friend and I were in a double kayak. You can go down the water beneath the bridges, and you get a great view of the city for sure. definitely a good rental place to check out if you want a vessel!

Can’t visit Austin without stopping by here! 🌳☀️🎶

The staff were super friendly and helpful when I went back in March with my 2 year old and 5 year old. They had canoes, kayaks, an paddle boards, along with life jackets for all sizes. They even lent me sunscreen as I didn't think to bring any for my kiddos and myself. Pricing was fair (I believe it was per hour?), and time started once your boat was on the water. One of the guys helped push us out, and we rowed 30 minutes out and 30 minutes back where he helped us back in. There were plenty of Austin-y sights and nature a long the way. My girls loved it!

Weekdays are great time to come to get a great deal. Currently they had a rent one boat and get 2nd boat free promotion during the weekdays (check website). You can rent a variety of items here. They give you life jackets. I went with my elderly parents and the staff was incredibly accommodating getting them in and out of the canoes.

Absolutely 💯 awesome 👌 place to visit and rent. I really liked their location. Staff were very helpful and respectful. I was with my family, rented double kayak. Their location is the perfect spot to begin kayaking around the Zilker lake. They do have a lot of choice options to rent from. You have to park at the other side of the road and then take the stairs to go down the hill. Restroom available. Water at that point was clear, I could see everything underneath. Compared to other boat rentals, the only disadvantage is that there is no military discount. Trail runs along this spot, we walked and enjoyed nature.

I’ve been coming here for years. Every time I visited Austin, I came here for kayaking. The staffs are all really nice. The view is magnificent. They could use a bit more management on lining up people and get everything in order, etc. It’s not a big issue though. I don’t know where those negative comments came from. They did accidentally gave my DL and credit card to another person yesterday, but the other person had same last name and credit card with me so it’s understandable. The owner was able to retrieve those back for me and she offered us drinks while we were waiting. And she waived our charges for the kayaking. Overall the experience is still 5 star.

Great place, they're very helpful! I'm disabled and they helped me get in my kayak, no problem kayaking, but the stairs were hard. I haven't tried to get down there in a wheelchair yet, but I managed to traverse the stairs with my cane. I'd LOVE to find a wheelchair friendly way to get down there.

In addition to being a training and education center for rowers, it also provides kayak and paddleboard rentals. The center is popular among locals and visitors alike, offering easy access to the lake and nearby street parking.
Came here with a friend of mine, we had such an amazing time. Staff was super nice and understanding about it being our first time paddle boarding. Their parking isn’t all that great but there’s a school nearby you can use their parking lot to be in, me and my friend were there for about 2-3hrs. We initially got it for just one hour, but we went a little bit over the time that was reserved for which they were super understanding about it and only charged us for half an hour instead of a full hour extra. Would recommend coming here again!
Jen G — Google review
I appreciated that the parking was accessible but not that we had to pay for it. Also the restrooms are porta-potties only :/ Besides that the customer service was good and they had a lot of equipment available. The area can be seaweed heavy but once you get further out it kinda clears out. There's a good little spot that allows you to get out of your equipment and stand up where the water is knee deep. The views of the city are also nice

Fun oportunity with the kids. The kayaks were nice for open kayaks. Little pricy for an hour rental $15 for a kayak especially when you need 4. They Should give options for a 2or3 hour rate and small group rates so everyone can have a better experience without rushing to get back on time so not to be charged. Seems to be the best place in town to rent kayaks though

I had a great early morning sunrise visit, I liked that the center opens nice and early. Plenty of parking nearby and the price was very reasonable. I did have to wait a little to get checked in but it was quite busy despite being early. Once I was greeted, I was quickly taken through the waiver and I was able to leave my backpack with the team to look after. Great kayak for my needs and decent paddle. The lake is great and really calm - I'm not massively experienced, but I was very comfortable paddling. I headed left towards the city and caught the sunrise over the skyline. The location has a cool duality, city but also plenty of nature. I loved my visit and would definitely use this company again.

Customer service could have been more helpful. It wasn’t always clear who to approach for guidance, and the staff didn’t appear particularly eager to assist. TRC should keep in mind that not all guests are experienced with paddle boarding or are familiar with their facility/standard process. When we had questions or were unsure about next steps, the staff exchanged glances, making our experience less than welcoming.

Been coming here since pre-covid time to kayak with my friends. Glad to get back again with my friends after covid. They did a big renovation with the deck but everything else stays the same. You get everything you need to kayak with a standard pay. View was great on the lake! Especially if you go there at sunset!

Country club
Located in Austin, Texas, the Austin Country Club is a historic private golf resort that dates back to 1899. Set on over 180 acres of land, it offers stunning views of the hill country, canyons, and the iconic Pennybacker Bridge. The club has a rich history and was frequented by golf legend Harvey Pennick. It also hosts events and fundraisers with excellent services and delicious food.
Probably one of the best-kept and nice location view of Austin's typography.

My sweet gal pal took me to Austin Country Club (ACC), one of the most prestigious private clubs in the state of Texas. 👌🏆👍 The club is gorgeous, picturesque and well-maintained. The lunch was delicious! 👩‍🍳😘💋 I was excited to spot the Mahjong tables and we had a blast shopping! 🛍️🎁🤗 Woohoo! What a fun experience all around! 🎉🎉🎉 Can't wait to be back to ACC! 💖💖💖

The Dell Match Play championship is always a fun venue. The course is set up perfectly for Match Play allowing players to take some risks on holes when needed. Suggest either ride share or buy parking early for the event. Otherwise, you could be waiting a long time for parking or parking a long ways away. Clear bags only when you enter. Lots of trailers/buildings throughout to cool off, pick up (very expensive) merch, or see the latest Dell Technologies. The opportunity to get close to players is also good at this venue. It’s my understanding the ACC will not be the venue anymore after this year but there are rumblings of the Houston Open heading this way? All in all, it’s a fun experience. No cash is taken so bring that plastic!

I had the chance to spend a day at Austin Country Club recently and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment you arrive you can feel the history and tradition of the club combined with a modern sense of hospitality. The entrance, clubhouse, and grounds are beautifully maintained and the staff greets you warmly, making you feel like a valued guest rather than just a visitor. The golf course is spectacular. Every hole feels thoughtfully designed with challenging but fair layouts, immaculate fairways, and fast, true greens. The scenery is classic Austin, with rolling terrain, mature trees, and views of the Colorado River that make each shot feel special. It is a course that demands strategy but rewards good play, and you can understand why it has hosted so many prestigious tournaments. Playing where the pros have competed adds an extra layer of excitement and respect to every swing. The practice facilities are also top notch. The driving range is expansive with plenty of targets, the short game area is well kept, and the putting green rolls just like the greens on the course. It makes warming up or working on your game a real pleasure. Inside the clubhouse the atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between elegant and comfortable. The locker rooms are spotless and well stocked, and the dining areas offer beautiful views of the course. We had lunch after our round and the food was excellent, with attentive service and a menu that offered both classic club fare and some creative, locally inspired options. Sitting on the terrace with a drink while watching players come up the 18th was a highlight of the visit. What stood out most to me was the level of hospitality from every staff member. From the pro shop to the wait staff everyone was friendly, knowledgeable, and seemed genuinely happy to share what makes the club special. Small touches, like remembering our names and checking in on how we were enjoying the day, made the experience feel personal. Overall, Austin Country Club is more than just a golf course; it is an experience steeped in tradition and quality. Whether you are playing a round, practicing, dining, or simply soaking up the atmosphere, everything is done to a very high standard. As a guest, I left with a deep appreciation for the club and its staff and a strong desire to return.

A beautiful and picturesque location for a wedding reception! We so enjoyed the ballroom and hours of dancing. The food and drinks were delicious, and the staff were so kind and helpful on the day of the wedding. My husband and I had some photos taken outside on their grounds and these made for some gorgeous wedding pictures. Thank you for the lovely reception, Austin Country Club!

I had a very nice experience dining at Austin Country Club with a group of friends. The food and drinks were very good. I ordered the chicken tortilla soup and the tenderloin fillet. Both dishes were delicious. The wine and cocktail selection was quite decent as well. The service was on the slow side, but the overall atmosphere is relaxing and I enjoyed the opportunity to socialize with good friends, so the waiting time didn’t bother me.

This is such a beautiful paradise. The construction makes it a bit difficult to find the entrance and there is a fee to get in. The water is soothing and clean and also pretty deep in most places, but there are a bunch of lifeguards making sure everyone is safe. The plants on the bottom are kinda creepy, but they are cleaning the water and are our friends. I recommend this place for anyone that wants to relax in a peaceful environment where everyone is enjoying themselves. I’m so heartbroken to leave!

Incredible place for an unbelievably fresh swim! The water is cold and perfect for a Summer day in Texas! Great view while swimming. The place is very accessible, and dog-friendly. Be careful at the steps when entering the water, because of the moss. Have a great day with family and friends!

Barton Springs is an Austin classic. The water is crisp, clear, and refreshing perfect on a hot day. The atmosphere is laid-back with plenty of space to relax, swim, or just soak up the sun. It’s one of those places that makes you feel lucky to be in Austin.
Funmi S — Google review
Great place to swim. Cold, but that's what makes it refreshing. If you don't like the cold water in the pool, you can swim outside of it in the creek. It's honestly better.
Weston K — Google review
Download the ATXSwims app before going to purchase your pass. We were not residents and paid $18 to get in, but no one checked. We saw people bring in food and drinks so not as strict as we were told. Metal water bottles are allowed. We wondered because it said only plastic. Definitely recommend water shoes as it’s slippery. If you can bring a floaty, definitely do! Towels, blankets are nice so you can relax on the grass. Parking is rough, but if you uber/lyft that’s fine.
Soukaina L — Google review
All year round fresh cold water, perfect for a hot summer day. I like that it's deep, they have lifeguards, and the territory is clean. You can bring pool noodles or donuts, but there is only one side where you can use them, the lifeguard will let you know if you do it wrong. The entrance fee is about 8-9, I don't remember, but you need to purchase tickets for entrance.
Натилия — Google review
What an awesome pool! The water is relatively cold, which is exactly what you want on a hot day. Water is crisp and clean, and you've got great views of downtown Austin. Well worth the entry fee (9 USD for non-Austin residents).

City government office
Downtown Austin's City Hall is an unusual building that blends modern design with a Texas limestone and copper exterior. The building was accessible and playful, while also environmentally friendly. Inside, the building features solar panels to reduce its carbon footprint.
Austin overall was a great city to visit due to all the fun experiences available!
DUMMY D — Google review
Wow! Calling all photographers! The Austin city hall is a stunning piece of architecture. The whole time we strolled around the exterior, we kept saying how beautiful it would be for a civil wedding ceremony. The stone details on the exterior is so rustic and classy. Beautiful greenery as well. Nice spot to read a book or just hang out and have a chat. Also a great spot for an impromptu photo shoot!
E T — Google review
Welcome to Austin. Where you wait on hold when you call 911, we don’t have any police officers, we do major construction exclusively during rush hour, and have the highest taxes in the entire state for the awful services we provide. This city is an absolute joke!
Gavin L — Google review
I visited here in a Saturday. It was closed. So, I was unable to check what's the city hall is all about. I was there for the first time, so the underground parking directions were a little confusing. However, the security guard who was there was really helpful and gave the correct directions.
Nilupul K — Google review
This city has purposefully silenced the people of Austin because they are afraid of what they have to say. Just stop the endless greed.

Images of 4 people that should be arrested and charged. Natalie Reynolds should absolutely be charged on multiple accounts. And these other men watching and doing nothing should be held accountable to a court in some way or the public in the least. Unacceptable.
Crimebot 4 — Google review
Pretty cool building and garden, contemporary and environment friendly, neat sculpture.
Scarlett H — Google review
These images are on the property of my place of business. This was not a daily occurrence until the last year, and never at all before the last five years. It is sad that this once beautiful, community minded area has come to this. We are vigilant to take measures because we are afraid for our employee's safety. We now lock the clearly marked staff entrances due vagrants entering. Just this morning I placed a note on a cart full of clothing and bedding asking them to remove their junk from private property. The cart was parked behind our shed where there are two no trespassing signs clearly visible. I walked carefully to avoid the human defecation on the ground near the cart. In the past I have called 311, been in contact with police, and they can't do much due to the high crime in Austin and less staff and funds, so I don't bother calling anymore. This is not the Austin it was 10 years ago. It is very sad.
