Vegetarian restaurant
Millennium is a vegetarian restaurant that has been serving inventive and locally sourced dishes since 1994. The restaurant offers a rustic-modern space with a patio, creating a casual yet slightly upscale dining experience. Chef-owner Eric Tucker is dedicated to providing fresh and innovative vegan cuisine, constantly changing the menu to showcase local, sustainable, and organic produce at its peak.
We went to Millennium to celebrate a friend’s birthday, and the experience was absolutely wonderful. We chose the four-course menu, which I believe is the standard option for weekends. Every dish was outstanding—it’s incredible how creatively they craft vegan meals. The desserts were especially impressive; it was hard to believe they were made without any dairy or eggs. The ambiance was great, the service was excellent, and the food was delicious. I would definitely go back!

One of the few higher-end vegan places in the Bay area. This is my first time here. I don't think I will make another reservation and drive one and a half hours from the South Bay to eat here. That being said, it is a solid choice for a nice all vegan experience. It's just probably not the best value for money (and time, if you are coming from more than 30 minutes away). All the dishes are well executed, but nothing to write home about other than it was full vegan. I do like that they source local ingredients and keep a rotating seasonal menu. The desserts are very well done, a good amount of tartness to make it feel like a nice light ending for the meal. The place is also a bit crowded and noisy for the money charged per person.
Shimeng — Google review
I’ve been coming here for years and love this place. The fried mushrooms are a hit and they have seasonal menus which is great. The only downside is the portions and some of the dishes. Sometimes there are some complicated dishes or things that could be done a little more simple with a lot more impact, if that makes sense. I think y’all should take the burger off the menu and replace or do seasonal burgers to spice it up. Please also bring back brunch and more pizza! The Bay Area is lacking in vegan brunch we need you! The kitchen is great and the staff are so professional and kind. Love this place.

One of the most disappointing vegan meals I’ve had, especially given the price point. I really wanted to like this place after hearing so many good things. As someone who’s often vegan when dining out—and a lifelong vegetarian—I know how flavorful plant-based food can be (just look at Indian cuisine). Sadly, this missed the mark almost entirely. The only highlight: Corn riblets – Surprisingly delicious with a flavorful sauce; the one standout dish of the night. The letdowns: Melon gazpacho – Oddly swung between overly sweet and too salty, though the texture was nice. Crusted oyster mushrooms – Dry, with a mismatched sauce and a very basic slaw that didn’t add much. Vesuvio pasta – Overly salty; only just passable as a main. Eggplant tonkatsu – Felt unnecessarily heavy, lacked sauce, and had too many forgettable components. Corn risotto cake – Lacked flavor overall, though the grilled broccoli was decent. Overall, I left very disappointed. Maybe it was an off night, but based on this experience, I wouldn’t return.
Snigdha A — Google review
Service was pretty great, very fast and they checked in and refilled water. We had accidentally left a credit card there and they called within 10 minutes so they clear the tables pretty fast but wait for you to leave first. Ambiance was nice and intimate, but not too loud. This would be a good date spot for vegetarian food. Food was okay, might have been slightly overpriced for the flavors. I think the shaved asparagus salad and the tempeh were very well done, the fried mushrooms and the curry were a bit too sweet for my tastes. The millennium burger was a typical vegetarian burger, the "patty" was more beany than other black bean burgers I've tasted and less meaty if that makes sense? But overall I would come again if someone wanted to come, wouldn't go out of my way though.
Edward C — Google review
The food was outstanding! One of the best vegan meals I’ve had! I could drink the peach-habanero jam from the oyster mushroom dish. I also had the mung bean crepe - the tofu tasted like paneer. The sweet soy glazed eggplant dish had so many unique flavors. Couldn’t tell that the pistachio apricot cheesecake was vegan. Wish I lived here to enjoy more of this menu but will be back on my next visit to the Bay Area.

thank you millenium for the birthday dinner, everyone was so nice and lovely, also very accommodating when i asked if they could turn the music volume down to make the dining experience nicer for my hard of hearing great aunt, who now thinks oat milk cappuccinos are better than regular cappuccinos, so a big win. the saffron aioli with the arancini was amazing, the orange creamsicle ice cream was delicious, and i loved the lions mane steak 🫶🏼❤️‍🔥

Millennium to me is one of those OG vegan restaurants. It's been around for a long time. As long as I've been a vegan 10 plus years. I remember it being a little bit more upscale than when I went this last time. But the food is always amazing. I had the eggplant dish this time around and the eggplant was cooked perfectly and it tasted amazing. It was one of those dishes. I was hoping I wouldn't regret. Great atmosphere! Great location in Oakland. I would highly recommend it for all non vegans to go

Shangri-La Vegan On Linden is a popular spot in Oakland, offering a rotating menu of organic, macrobiotic fare in a casual and homey setting with outdoor seating. The restaurant specializes in macrobiotic, organic, and animal-free dishes with an ever-changing menu focused on nourishing whole foods. The sparse decor adds to the charm of the place. In addition to its regular offerings, Shangri-La Vegan also provides all-you-can-eat buffets during weekends.
So delicious! I got the large dinner and ate every bite. Everything was seasoned perfectly. This place is simple; you choose if you want a medium or large sized meal, and other than that, you’re signing up for whatever tasty combo they’re offering that day.
Deanalís R — Google review
This place is sooooo good. I am not even vegan and I love it. I enjoy that there is just one set served and you just choose one of the two sizes. Whenever I am in the area, I go. Great vibes too, it is Tibetan and I feel the peaceful vibe is in the food too.
Shen-Shen W — Google review
This charming, quiet place is heaven. My husband, omnjomnivore, and I, forced to eat dairy and gluten free, were both incredibly happy with the high quality, fresh food we received on top of very nice and respectful service. There’s one meal, you choose the size of your portion. I cannot stress enough how amazing the food was. Vegetables, beans and rice cooked and seasoned to perfection. Collard greens like I’ve never had them before: juicy, tender but with a wonderful bite, deliciously seasoned and clearly very fresh. The soup was amazing, too. Fragrant, perfect texture and the right amount of it, too. We are so grateful for this meal. Thank you so much!!

I didn't want to drive home in traffic, so luckily I found ShangriLa restaurant nearby. Away from the busy highway, I settled into a refreshing vine-covered patio on a quiet city street, with easy parking. Even though this is a no frills restaurant, I gave it 5 stars for Atmosphere because it feels as though there is an emphasis on serving up serenity & calm with every meal...like being warmly welcomed into someone's humble home. Service is immediate: order inside then sit & food is brought quickly. I ordered an all in one meal with nice portions of 5 different dishes, including a delicious soup for under $20. I love leaving with that satisfied, happy tummy feeling afterwards! 😋 Happy that they're thoughtful enough to have compostable take out boxes for tomorrow's leftovers. Can't wait to go back & see what's next on their rotating menu. I can always use another order of calm in my life.
Joi J — Google review
Amazing food and service! I highly suggest getting the full size for lunch. I love to try many different things when I eat, so this was the perfect menu for that. The dish allows you to try 6 things on the menu and each is a hefty portion. I didn’t think I was that hungry but the food was too delicious to stop eating. 😋 The environment is serene and the patio was a lovely spot to enjoy my meal. I will definitely be returning and recommending this restaurant to all in the Bay.
Carla C — Google review
Love this place and make an effort to eat here whenever I'm in town. The nutritious food is very affordable, friendly service, so delicious, healthy and my body notices the difference whenever I eat here. I'm by no means vegetarian, but so enjoy the food here and hope more will give it a chance. They have a fixed price vegan meal in two sizes (moderate or full portion), that changes daily. One of my favorite restaurants in the East Bay!
Manfred A — Google review
Really lovely vegan spot. Came here for lunch, perfect breeze, beautiful weather, got to enjoy the sun but also stayed in the shade. Lots of birds sounds. You pick either the moderate for $13 or full lunch for $15 and can add on kombucha or pies. We got the moderate, which were plenty of food. The flavors are rich and full bodied. Also would be a nice patio to take dogs to and enjoy a nice conversation with someone.
Yanran L — Google review
Okay, I think I had very high expectations, so maybe that's why it was not a 5 star experience? Hmm, no, not that. I didn't mind the hole in the wall minimalist place at all, I was not expecting anything pretentious. However, I Was expecting better food. No, it's not bland, just ...meh. Soup was okay when hot, but later on I found it to betoo salty. Overall nothing out of this world, I would call it decent for a cantina. Please keep in mind that they don't allow you to dine in if you arrive at 7.30 pm or after (not my case, but i saw this). I would not return.

Vegan restaurant
Golden Lotus is a popular vegetarian Vietnamese restaurant located in downtown Oakland. This family-owned eatery has been serving delicious vegan meals since 1996, offering a variety of Asian-fusion dishes. The menu features traditional Vietnamese noodle soups, salads with soy jerky beef, and customizable vegan fish rolls. Additionally, the restaurant serves a range of desserts including Mango Sticky Rice and Vegan Cheesecake.
I went to eat with my family on Saturday. I had a great meal here. The restaurant has a cozy and warm atmosphere. I miss the taste of my hometown so much. I will recommend it to my friends. The best vegetarian restaurant I have ever eaten at the recommendation of my relative when I came to America.
Anh N — Google review
I have eaten here a lot of the years. I can’t think of anything that isn’t good. Today’s dinner was the spicy noodle soup and Jasmine Green Tea with Chia seed and silk milk. Can you spot the face too?
Krishna S — Google review
Everything on the menu is delicious with great drinks, wonderful rice and specialties, and good atmosphere and service! Highly recommend to any and all vegetarians! Extremely affordable too!
James L — Google review
Golden Lotus is good but not great. Staff are nice and the restaurant is quiet and nice. Maybe a good place for a first date… anyone 👀?? But the food isn’t always great. The pho is pretty good, royal fried rice not so good (almost no tofu), fried potsticker good, spicy gourmet chicken too greasy. Food is fairly cheap 💸 and good portion sizes! Would probably return, but it’s not a “must go”. I recommend leaning into the vegan nature of the restaurant and getting fake meat or tofu-forward dishes.
Sue F — Google review
We tried several dishes from the menu and ate it family style. The dishes were very tasty, and their mock chicken dish was good. The whole table loved the spring rolls. I would definitely go back to try more of the menu. Everything looked very tasty.
Vivian B — Google review
Great restaurant in Oakland. I loved the food, especially the Pho and Fish Claypot. I came back the next day and got the Queen (Caramelized Chicken). The service was great and quick.
Alberto O — Google review
Much love for all the dishes! Fried rice , clay pot and noodle soups were most delicious to me ☺️ Pho is usual go to! great vibes will be back 🥰
K T — Google review
The food here is AMAZING! All of the 6 dishes we ordered were excellent. I was not happy when someone said, "let's go to Golden Lotus, its all vegan." I was not happy, but after my 1st mouthful, I was hooked, every dish was delightful in taste, presentation, and price. I'm telling you now, vegan or not, you will love the food here. They need more than 5 stars 🌟 🤩. Don't miss out on this gem in Oakland.

Coffee shop
Bakery
Vegan restaurant
Timeless Coffee is a unique cafe and bakery that stands out as the only 100% plant-based coffee roastery and bakery in its area. The cozy atmosphere, complete with minimalist white surfaces and a vibrant rose-filled mural by artist Freddy Corbin, makes it an inviting spot to meet friends or get some work done. Their menu features house-roasted coffee, homemade vegan and vegetarian dishes, as well as delectable vegan pastries made fresh daily.
I'm enjoying a flaky buttery chocolate crossaint with a coffee here at Timeless. The other baked items look good and they have whole cakes for sale in addition to individual slices. They also sell cold pressed juices. I will be putting this into my Saturday routines before DXE animal rights meetings at the clubhouse in Berkeley. I recently saw a facebook post that vegan is the largest family in the world. And it definitely feels like family in here with people who want to change the world!

Great food and atmosphere, and I love that there was no eggs and dairy in your products, better for health, environment and animals! We came with a big group and tried different pastries and foods and we all loved it! Thank you!

We worked with the manager Diana on a custom cupcake order and it could not have been a more positive experience! Diana was so organized, responsive, creative and a delight to work with overall. The cupcakes were delicious and turned out great. Highly recommend!
Alex M — Google review
Everything is plant based!!! This cafe is pure magic. Their strawberry matcha is delicious and their cake donuts are to die for. They don’t have “vegan” labels for their pastries, but literally everything in the shop is plant based. Their drinks use oat, soy, or almond milk.
Lauren G — Google review
Great coffee and pastries! You know with a scorpion logo it's gonna be good. Staff was really nice and the bathrooms were clean and smelled fresh. Pastries were beautiful and delicious.
Stacy H — Google review
I love everything at Timeless. Not only everything is delicious, it's also 100% plant based. It gets very busy and I doubt all the customers are vegans or plant-based. I bet most of them don't even realize Timeless is all plant-based. They come here because the coffee and pastries are awesome. As a vegan, I have to get on the freeway and drive here to get my vegan baked goods. Where I live lacks vegan options. I get a full box of assorted pastries when I come here. Be sure to check your boxed goods before you leave. The staff is busy and sometimes they miss an item. I was able to go back and get the donut they forgot to put in my box.
Lina — Google review
Drinks here are pretty pricey, but goodness was the Pistachio Cream Latte worth it. They’ve got a cool branding vibe that made it cozy. Also had the carrot walnut cake that complemented the drink’s nicely.

Singaporean restaurant
Dance restaurant
Nestled just a block away from the vibrant Que Rico, Lion Dance Cafe has quickly become a beloved spot since its opening in 2020 by culinary duo Chef C-Y Chia and Shane Stanbridge. This charming eatery offers an array of Singaporean-inspired dishes that reflect Chia's diverse background, blending Chinese-Singaporean and French influences with formal training from New York.
In June, I finally got to try Lion Dance Cafe, who I've been following since their days as a vegan pop-up years ago. They are still serving vegan fare, and it is inventive and tasty. Their laksa was for sure the best dish, and I really liked the tofu (tau pok) and noodle textures, and the rich flavor of the sauce. Next best? Bread! The Shaobing service includes a sourdough and sesame crusted bread with coriander mustard (not for me) and mushroom rendon paté, which was surprisingly delicious for this non-mushroom fan. I especially liked the kick. The spring salad, with charred green onion buttermilk dressing, was a tasty salad, but nothing particularly special to report for that dish. Good. The pistachio cavatelli seemed a little too chewy at first, with the heritage grain earthy flower used for the noodles. But after the first couple cavatelli, it really started to grow on me. The sauce was also delicious. These folks know sauces well. Finally, drinks! Lion Dance Cafe is a great place for inventive beverages that are not high on alcohol or are zero proof. The Curious George was enjoyed by my companion, a banana sesame milk and the spiced cola that followed. I adored my barbie4barbie with strawberries, Meyer lemon, green cardamom vermouth, brut nature, and basil seeds. It was a delicious, sweet, and tangy drink. I really love to see ingenious vegan cuisines like this. Would definitely go again.
Becca F — Google review
so grateful i got to eat here before they closed, oakland lost a great restaurant. this italian-chinese-singaporean vegan restaurant sounds gimmicky but lives up to all the hype. food was flavorful without the meat and dessert was top tier. food was pretty overpriced though and the 20% mandatory tip is excessive but good to visit once. until next time, lion dance cafe! mushroom goreng: one of the highlights. loved the salty batter and perfectly fried. laksa: solid dish but nothing standout. rendang and nasi lemak: sleeper hit, extremely flavorful and top tier. a dish you will crave. mala cutlet sandwich: hard skip. lacked layers of texture and mustard overpowered the dish. pandan butter nian gao: top tier dessert, tasted like pandan butter mochi
Andrea S — Google review
Warning: Extremely expensive for the experience and tiny portion sizes. Be prepared to spend well over $150 for 2 people. First of all, it's reservation only and they charge $20 per person plus a dollar service fee just to make a reservation. My boyfriend and I paid $41 just to reserve a seat. That is not a deposit. It is misleading from their site. We were charged full price for all the dishes we ordered. We were told that most people order 2-3 dishes per person because it's tapas style dishes. They mentioned we should order 5-6 dishes for 2 people. We felt pressured to order because of that recommendation. It was way too much food at the end and we really only should have ordered 3 dishes max. We ordered 4 appetizers, 2 entrees, dessert, coconut water, beer and our total was $155 plus 20% tip brought us to $186. Add the $41 reservation fee and our grand total was $227!!! How does that even make sense. I'll add pictures and see if it makes sense to pay that much. Don't be fooled, I zoomed into the food so it looks big but in actual reality, it's miniature. When we arrived they were short staffed so there was no greeter. We sat indoors but it was extremely cold outside but also inside. There was no heater and I faced the kitchen and I can see staff doing the dishes right in front of me. For utensils, we got 1 fork and spoon each with chopsticks but no knives. We also received only 1 paper napkin each. We asked for rice to balance out the heat and spice but they said they don't offer rice which is extremely strange if you say you're an authentic Singaporean restaurant. We asked the waiter and he said it's too overwhelming for the staff to manage a rice cooker. We were then suggested to get their sesame bread instead for $16. Even offering noodles would have helped balance out the super spicy food. The only dish that was worth it as far as taste in my opinion was the Laska noodle soup. Still steep for $25 given that the protein was tofu and not a lot of it either. We got like 3 pieces of tofu. The decor was of a hawker center in Singapore which we've both been to. The high price tag was out of touch from the service, tiny portions, and experience we got. Most of the dishes are extremely spicy and you should be cautious because my boyfriend and I both got stomach aches at the end of our night and the next day. We love spicy food and we eat most of our meals with hot sauce but this is not for the faint of heart. My boyfriend's taste buds were fried to the point where he couldn't taste anything towards the end of dinner and I was choking up from the spices. There's no reason to charge $16-25 per dish if the portion sizes are of appetizers. Flavors were good but nothing out of the ordinary that you wouldn't get from a Chinese szechuan dish. If they charge $41 just for the reservation, at least deduct that from our food bill. It's price gouging at best and we felt robbed at the end of our experience. We won't be coming back unfortunately. Unless they get rid of their expensive reservation system, add rice to their menu, add a heater to their building, give bigger portion sizes and or lower their food prices, you can count us out.
Lea D — Google review
We loved Lion Dance Cafe! Many of these dishes were new to us, and it was great that they were all vegan. We would love to go back and try some of the things we didn’t get to try. Our favorites on the first trip were: - the Shaobing service was delicious and a great way to start the meal - the mala douhua was rich, complex, and spicy - the Laksa was amazing - the pandan nian gao and green milk (pandan sesame milk) were so good we didn’t even get a picture
Brian C — Google review
Lion dance is one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. All their dishes have such unique flavors. I'm always taken aback by their creativity. There is not a single item that I would not recommend. and if the mushroom goreng is on the menu, get 2 orders. If you like unapologetically spicy food then this is absolutely your place!
Mona S — Google review
Loved their takeout menu. Dine in experience left a lot to be desired. The meal was great but very heavy. 3 out of 4 people had upset stomachs because of it. Things were pretty carb heavy and very rich. Courses seemed a bit disjoint and did not flow together. Dessert tasted very artificial. Sent some notes via email but never heard back from them, hence the review. Will come back once they start doing takeout again.
Vivek N — Google review
Fantastic vegetarian option. I really enjoyed every single dish I had. My boyfriend and I received a gift card for Christmas to come here and finally made it out 7 months later. We had the charred cabbage, mushroom goreng, prawnless crackers, shaobing sandwich, milk bread, chips & dip and the pandan dessert. The most surprisingly was how great the dessert was!! Absolutely amazing. Personally I adored the cabbage and mushroom goreng. I will be bringing my vegetarian family here for sure. Give the non-alcoholic drinks a try! We tried the plumstruck and sweet n sour apricot, both were absolutely fantastic. The prices are honestly a bit overpriced! I truly cannot believe how much each dish was. I don't think my experience would have been as pleasant as it was if it weren't for the gift card. I regularly attend Michelin star restaurants and even then, I've had Michelin dishes with similar price ranges as here.... Being Michelin recommended is one thing but the dishes really don't seem to warrant this $$$ range. I want to come back here again and again, but please lower the price range 🥺. I'd like this to be a regular spot vs a "treat spot"
Priya A — Google review
Lion Dance Café is a new favorite. We got a few things: - mushroom goreng: great batter & chili sauce, texture was very juicy - jackfruit rendang: super delicious, perfectly spiced, and very meat-like. Glad to have the roasted peanuts for extra protein & crunch :) - kojio e pepe: you need to come on saturdays just for this. So creamy & flavorful!! I wouldn’t have guessed it was vegan. We definitely struggled a little with the spice level but it was worth it. Service was good, we didn’t have to wait in line and they told us about a 25 minute wait but the food was ready in less than 20. Their outdoor seating was full by the time our food was ready, so we went around the corner to Bar 355 to buy drinks and sit in their parklet. I cannot wait to come back and try the sandwiches & nuggets!!

Chinese restaurant
Vegan restaurant
Nature Vegetarian Restaurant in Downtown Oakland is a hidden gem offering classic Chinese vegetarian and vegan dishes. Run by Hui Lin and her husband, this eatery replicates traditional Chinese and Chinese American favorites using house-made meat substitutes. The lunch plate is a great deal, including an entree, rice, soup of the day, and an egg roll. On weekends, they serve vegetarian dim sum - a rare find in the Bay Area.
We came here for Meatless Monday. My daughter and I often try to eat less meat whenever we can. This place is one of our favorites whenever we are in the area. The lunch specials prices have gone up throughout the years BUT it is still a steal for the price. Since we had it many years ago, one thing I've noticed is that they keep the lunch meals simple. Their lunch specials always come with soup, egg roll, 2 scoops of rice, and the main entrée of your choice. We also got hot tea on a cold day. What we ordered: Veggie Sesame Chicken and Veggie Mongolian Beef, both with white rice (but you can opt for brown rice). This meal came with hot and sour soup. * My go-to are: Veggie Chicken General Tao, Veggie Pork Sweet and Sour Sauce. Overall, both entrée were really good and we will come back for more.

⭐️ Food 5/5 ⭐️ Service 5/5 ⭐️ Ambiance 5/5 I have been looking for a go-to Chinese restaurant for many years and this will definitely be my new spot! Not only was the food absolutely delicious, the service was warm, friendly, and polite. I was happily surprised that everything that we ordered had the perfect flavor and texture. I have been vegetarian for over 10 years and I will say this has to be one of my best experiences for both vegetarian food and Chinese food. Both of my children are meat eaters, and could not even tell the chicken wasn’t actual chicken! They have specific taste buds and this place had my kids happy and wanting more! Also, the portions and pricing is good. We had lots of leftovers even with full bellies ☺️ Thank you to the staff for your kindness and delicious food! We will definitely be back for many visits and lots more food 💗

The service itself was great, really personable & attentive. I did not care for the taro cakes, and it is really cold inside. I do like the veggies proteins & the eggplant dish I got.

Stunning food. I am a meat eater but their egg rolls are stellar and general tso's chicken was awesome. All vegetarian.

really good vegan food in downtown oakland, i would go for lunch over dinner, the prices are lower at lunch time, but it was goooood, especially the bean curd roll appetizer was amazing, never had anything like that before, the eggplant was amazing, the sesame chicken was tasty but i've had better. prices are food and the service was good, very quick!

Loved the food in this restaurant and the fact that they served tea when we arrived. The food was really tasty, I will eat here again when I come back to Oakland.

I’m recovering from an operation and was excited to have vegetarian food delivered. Delivery was prompt, however, the hot n sour soup was too glutenous. The broth was lacking flavor and the texture was gooey. General Tao’s was yummy and the sauce marvelous. I wish the menu included crispy fried tofu options in the main dishes.

This place is a total gem. It’s has a peaceful atmosphere, the staff are kind, and the food comes really quick. Ive brought meat eaters here as well and they are all surprised how good the dishes are. The lunch specials are also such a good deal! Definitely recommend!

Roasted and Raw is a vegan restaurant in Oakland that offers a fresh and balanced approach to plant-based dining. Chef Imani Greer creates healthful burgers and bowls suitable for vegans, flexitarians, or anyone looking to incorporate more vegetables into their diet. Unlike many vegan eateries that focus on fried comfort foods, Roasted and Raw serves up delicious black-bean burgers and empanadas that leave diners feeling satisfied and energized.
Delicious generous portions! Amazing options to choose from. My favorite was the massive bean burger and empanada. Their bowls are also huge and scrumptious.

I was near the Lake Merritt area when I found this place on happycow. Then rode up here on bay ride bikes, parked it and walked to this place. My first impression was that this place was pretty empty with plenty of seating. Then I ordered a curry chickpea bowl (which apparently is their best selling item) along with Fries. The order took around 10 minutes to complete and I can say that both the bowl and fries were awesome and delicious. I would definitely recommend especially for vegans in the east bay. This place is also only 7 min walk from the 12th St Bart station. Update: Would have been nice if they made some drinks like shakes but sadly they didn't have.

We tried the chicken & waffles, mac & cheese, sweet potato, kale salad, and chocolate chip cookies. Everything was seasoned so well. The mac & cheese /sweet potato / cookie were my favorite. Waffle was perfect but i'd skip the chicken and try a different protein. I would love to try more of their tofu entrees. Staff was so nice, clean tables and bathroom, nice bottle sauce selection.

Roasted and Raw is a new favorite vegan restaurant for me. I tried their black bean burger and yucca fries and it was so amazingly delicious 😋😋😋. I can't wait to go back and try some of their raw cuisine. What a special place. Love their vibe and menu. Will be back soon!

I absolutely love this place! I’m still working my way through trying the entire menu lol, but everything I’ve had thus far has been delicious. The food is packed with flavor, the portions are generous and the service is excellent. I’m obsessed with the falafel bowl and chocolate chip cookies. I recently tried the empanada and loved it also. I’ve also ordered the falafel by itself and it’s delicious. I hate that I I’ve hardly taken many photos of my food on countless visits lol, but trust me on this one…THE FOOD IS GOOD!! Falafel bowl w/chik’n (minus the sauce that comes with it) and Yuca Hash plate pictured for reference.

So many options to choose from, but I went with a bunch of sides and they were all extremely delicious! I haven't had garlic bread in soo long being vegan, and this totally hit the spot with the Mac n cheese 😋 Hellz ya 🤙🏼🌱

My new favorite vegan spot in Oakland, and I've tried them all! I want to come back again ASAP. I got a quinoa bowl with sweet orange sauce and BBQ carnitas, it came with the most delicious fresh veggies and felt so light & healthy. You'd think that one flavor would overpower the other since sweet orange and BBQ are both fairly intense flavors, but here it was perfect and went together nicely. Portion was large, I saved some for later. Another great menu item is their burger, it's fantastic and even comes with yuca fries which were a nice surprise. Empanadas are great too, and there are cookies and muffins for dessert. Another big benefit to eating here is that they have a smoothie place connected to them called "Powered by Pure" (you need to be rang up separately, but literally just two registers next to one another). I'm not a drink/smoothie person but gave the Peach Cobbler shake a shot and was blown away. I was expecting it to be too heavy or too sweet, but again it was very light and fresh. Everything far exceeded my expectations. Staff is very friendly too!

The food here is fresh, healthy and tasty, although the choices are limited. The Black bean burger is good. The atmosphere is airy, with a panoramic view of the street. Service is fast and staff are courteous. Pricing is reasonable. Very clean. A great place to grab lunch.

Malibu's Burgers is a laid-back eatery that specializes in generous plant-based burgers and loaded fries, making it a standout in the vegan food scene. This delightful spot showcases the best of the plant-based revolution with its mouthwatering offerings, including hearty Philly cheesesteaks and crispy chicken sandwiches. One of their most impressive creations is the MaThizzle breakfast sandwich, which features an incredible combination of pancakes, hash browns, vegan eggs and cheese, along with your choice of plant protein.
Wow! Just wow! I’ve had my fair share of vegan or plant based burgers but this was my best experience so far. Came on a Friday at around 1:30pm and there was just one group ahead of us. So we missed the rush everyone talks about I guess. We got the Patti melt and Needy Meaty, and made them combos with a regular and a hella hella fries. And a black vanilla milkshake to wash it down. The burgers were amazing, distinct flavors, greasy as it should be. Special shout-out to the pretzel bun on the Needy. The milkshake was the bomb — so thick and creamy! We left so satisfied and craving to come back soon. Parking is always tricky in Piedmont, but the street is a fun walk. You can dine in but the setting is sparse, so taking to go in the cute burger box is the preferred option.

4/13/24 ¡¡¡We went by there today (not having read the recent reviews) and went to the 472 24th Street address now listed. We thought that they had moved but, not to be found!!! A lot like Vegan Mob last year and the new address on Broadway, not to be found! We were looking for a new plant based restaurant to try out in Oakland. We read the reviews and decided to give it a try. I had the Catalina Classic Burger and the Stadium Fries. The Burger was pretty good and filling (single) when combined with the fries. Overall, the $16 Burger is pricey. The Stadium Fries were a little soggy but, lots of garlic flavor!

$70 for two people to each get a burger, tater tots, and small shakes. They were out of fries. Aside from the price, there's a lot that needs work here. When we said we were dining in, we weren't given plates or silverware, they called out our number and we picked it up in a bag at the front. No food brought to tables or anything. If I had known it would be given in to-go form either way, I would've ordered delivery The building was very empty and bare, it feels like they recently moved in here but didn't fully finish setting up for customers. Menu didn't have descriptions for most items. No condiments or anything at the tables, and there was a water machine but no cups for the water.. I almost didnt feel like I was dining in at a restaurant. The Malibu Burger was good but didn't particularly stand out from cheaper priced burger chains like Next Level Burger, VeganBurg, etc. The tater tots were way too salty. Milkshakes were underfilled and an interesting flavor, it tasted like possibly another flavor got mixed in by accident. I felt sick half way through eating this meal and couldn't finish my food despite coming in super hungry. My boyfriend dined with me and also felt yucky from the food. Not food poisoning, just upset stomach. Overall it was a pretty odd experience.

As a vegan of 8 years, finding a place that caters to my dietary preferences can be a challenge, but Malibu's Burgers in Oakland exceeded my expectations! My friend took me here while I was visiting from Vancouver, BC, and I was blown away by the menu. Everything was vegan, and it was a true paradise for plant-based food lovers like me. The moment I took my first bite, I couldn't help but say "mmm!" with delight. The flavors were mouthwatering, and the presentation was impressive. The burgers were juicy and full of deliciousness, and the toppings were fresh and flavorful. I also loved the variety of options on the menu, from classic burgers to creative specialty burgers. But it wasn't just the food that impressed me. The service was friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall positive experience. I highly recommend Malibu's Burgers to anyone, whether you're vegan or not. It's a true gem that will leave your taste buds and heart satisfied!

It was our first time at Malibu’s Burgers and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We got the Malibu Burger, Tasha Grande and a site of Tater Tots. It did take a bit of time for our order to be prepared but it was made fresh and everything was hot when we got it. The burgers were both amazing and the tater tots were quite a lot for a “side” - definitely worth the money. We will be back to try the loaded fries and milkshakes another time - would recommend! Taqueria La Venganza is a must-visit for those who appreciate flavorful and satisfying vegan tacos. The restaurant excels in creating a greasy richness reminiscent of street tacos, with fresh salsa and toppings that perfectly complement the delicious tortillas. The asada tacos are particularly noteworthy, impressing even those who typically dislike mushrooms. Additionally, the gluten-free options such as Carnitas, Chicharron, and cauliflower cater to various dietary preferences.
This place is amazing for multiple reasons: A) delicious vegan tacos that don’t make you miss meat B) options C) vegan desserts D) the responses to their reviews crack me up and I have respect for their honesty E) they love dogs and make treats This was my first time here and definitely will not be my last as I am already looking forward to my next trip. I went on a Tuesday afternoon and got myself a taco plate, the special Japanese sweet potato taco, as well as a tres leches cake (ftw vegan?! and I have been craving this for months so I had to get it) It was pouring rain and so I sat in the car eating my tacos while my dog ate his sweet potato treats they had (and make) in a jar. The tacos were delicious, flavorful, had great texture, came with juicy limes, radish, and had salsa on top…I felt like I was at a pricier street taco stand and I’m from LA so this made me very happy. Oh and it came with rice and beans for $17.00 if I remember correctly. I ordered one Mushroom Carnitas, one Al Pastor, and a Chile Rojo. I think I might have been given two of the same taco cause I honestly couldn’t tell the difference, however I wasn’t mad about it one bit cause I was so content and trying not to get the juice from the tacos all over my clothes. The sides hit close to home too. The Tres Leches cake was topped with pineapple and coconut and when I opened the box I literally yelled “omg this is beautiful”. Beautiful to look at and to eat…I ate this over the span of three days because I wanted to savor it…not because it was too big (perfect size actually). It was a nice treat to have and very glad I saw the sign for it before paying. Can’t wait to try something else the next time I’m here!! Thank you La Venganza for a delicious meal and all the effort that goes into making vegan meat delicious! The owner shared they have brunch on weekends as well so looking forward to that too one of these days!

This is one of my favorite East Bay vegan restaurants, and it sure helps that it's a short walk from my apartment. I love the fact that everything there is vegan. I have so far tried most of the sections of the menu, and although I have favorites, I have enjoyed it all. For a first-time guest, I recommend getting the 3-taco sampler, with a different vegan meat in each taco. That helps you try out different vegan meats to figure out what you like. A new addition to the menu is the fried chicken, and I definitely recommend trying it, either in a taco or as a sandwich. I have eaten in the small sidewalk seating area only once, because I live so close that I generally take it to go.

Wanted to try it out as it’s had great reviews. Service was very friendly and quick. We dined outside and it was nice. We ordered the special tostada with sweet potatoes, nachos with mushrooms and jalapeños, burrito and torts. The tostada and burrito were delicious. The nachos were salty and the cheese used was . The mushrooms were also salty and felt greasy. All the food was in boxes and they don’t have plates for dining at the restaurant. Ended up with lot of plastic and boxes to dispose. I wish they would serve in paper plates at least instead of packing everything up. Portions were generous, but price was high too.

We have been here several times and had them cater our wedding! It was AMAZING!! Some guests had no idea it was vegan, so many people went back for second and thirds. And don’t even get me started on the cake they made!!! It was the most delicious and beautiful cake I’ve ever had and we had guests loading up on it and the cookies they made to take home with them! Several people stated the cookies were the best they ever had! Beyond grateful for the team here and how amazing they did for us on our special day!

Souley Vegan is a cozy eatery that specializes in vegan versions of Louisiana-style soul food, complemented by cocktails and desserts. The menu, curated by owner Tamearra Dyson, features impressively realistic and appropriately spicy veganized takes on classic soul food dishes. In addition to these offerings, the restaurant also surprises with its Monster Salad—a towering pile of various greens, sprouts, cucumbers, and herbs covered in a tangy cilantro sauce.
Heard about the soft opening and I’m here for it! Love the new menu!! Had the Pray 4 Me burger that beat Bobby Flay and I can see why. It comes with tastiest fries. Love the little bit of cole slaw in the burger. It’s very balanced. It’s hard to stop eating the fries. Also ordered the Brussels Sprouts and it was expertly done. Very fresh and delicious. This new spot is so chic. I love the period details. Long bar. I can see this place quickly become the new “it” / destination spot.

We were there Saturday for the "soft opening". The new location at 101 Broadway is very nice, the trains going by on The Embarcadero add a little extra to the location! Since it was the first day open they had to work through a lot with the new everything. There are too many tables in the front bar area to make seating more than 2 people at a 4-6 person table comfortable. Some of the Menu items were not available but, we were informed by the host soon after the order went in and we ordered something else. Another difference is the menu and payment are all electronic (QR Code at your table). Bring your smart phone and plastic or payment App. Also, it would be nice to have the Staff familiar with the WiFi and password available to the customers? As a suggestion to the owners, perhaps they could have a printed menu and cash payment options?

I love the food at Souley Vegan! My first experience was at the Martinez location and then I found out that location closed, so I was really happy that they relocated to Jack London Sq. For brunch, we enjoyed the country fried steak plate and bowl of the gumbo. Everything was delicious. Seating was kind of confusing (no stationed host and no sign to seat ourselves). There were only two staff on the floor so it took awhile for them to notice us and seat us, even though there were plenty of open tables. There was a woman staff member who was so nice and lovely when she had time to check on us, but she seemed kind of frazzled because she could have used more support. I hope they are able to hire more front of house staff. As I was eating, I could tell that incoming customers were confused and kind of annoyed while they waited to be seated. The music selection was GREAT! But the music volume was SO loud. My ears kind of hurt and it was so hard to hear my friend. My friend and I mostly ate in silence because it was too much of a pain to try to have a conversation. That was kind of a disappointment. Overall, the food is really good and worth it. But, from now on, I'm just going to order food to-go.
Luna L — Google review
The new location is all good vibes! The atmosphere is fun and relaxed, the music is always on point, and the staff are super friendly and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious. Everything fresh, flavorful, and made with love. Highly recommend the cornbread and beignets soooo good! Perfect spot for great food and great energy. 💛✨

I was really disappointed with my experience here. I wasn’t expecting vegan food to feel like a “fast food” experience, but unfortunately that’s what it was. I ordered the country steak plate, and it was not what I had hoped for — the “steak” tasted more like a fried bread patty than a hearty main dish. The mashed potatoes were decent and had acceptable flavor, but the kale had an odd, perfume-like scent and taste that I couldn’t get past. I was also surprised at how heavy and high-calorie the food felt, which isn’t what I expected from a vegan restaurant. On top of that, the restaurant itself looked like it was still in the process of being set up. There was no waiter — we had to serve ourselves water, and all food orders were placed through a QR code. What really felt absurd was being asked to leave a tip for a waiter that didn’t exist. Overall, the whole experience fell short of my expectations.

Love everything about this place! Great food, excellent service, nice vibe. Best collard greens I have ever had (and I'm southern). We tried the hot link, greens, okra, and southern staple bowl. Everything was flavorful and fantastic. Cayenne lemonade and strawberry ginger also excellent. Will definitely be back next time we are in town.
Liz S — Google review
The food was delicious. The portions are insane! My son and I really could have just shared a plate and still been quite satisfied. The one waitress they had on duty the day we went was sweet as sugar but she was the only waitress serving on a pretty busy day. Watching her run around like a chicken with its head cut off was sad and a bit of a turn off. They really need to have more than 1 person serving. That wasn't fair to her. Hopefully that was just an off day

Besharam, located in the lively Dogpatch neighborhood, offers a fusion of Gujarati classics and modern Indian cuisine. Chef Heena Patel's take on her native Gujarat's food is showcased through dishes bursting with sweet, sour, and spicy flavors. The restaurant initially started as a partnership but truly flourished when Patel took over creative control. Despite starting her culinary journey later in life, Patel's Gujarati-inspired Indian food has garnered praise.
We visited this place for my husband's birthday, and it was an amazing experience! The food was delicious, service was quick, and the staff was excellent. We tried Pav Bhaji Puff, Rigan No Oro, Kachori Dumplings, Dabeli Paratha, Malai Kofta, Jeera Rice, and Cheesy Garlic Naan—everything was fantastic! I personally loved all the dishes except Rigan No Oro, which tasted a bit salty and sour for my preference. But overall, the food was outstanding, especially their chutneys! I enjoyed it so much that I even left a personal note for the chef. Highly recommend this place and will definitely be back to try more!

The ambiance is open and inviting and I found it pleasing. The service was fast and friendly. They do require that guests order all of their food choices at one go. Over all the dishes we ordered were well liked but a few things took away the Fifth Star. The Pani poor water … really no taste … more on the flat side with zero hint of tanginess/spice. That was a complete let down. The Undiye was just okay and one reason was the pastry actually didn’t add anything to the taste. The Paneer Muska was another slight disappointment…very little crumbled paneer in its raw form sprinkled atop spinach. Nope. The Ringan was up to par. The chutneys were acceptable. Anyway overall a pleasant evening.

Creative chai with rose syrup that we liked. Masala mushroom to begin was a bomb! Loved every bit of it. The khadi-bhindi, again creative but the raw garlic in there overpowered the dish to an extent we hardly ate any of it. Definitely have had softer/smoother malai koftas.

We were a party of two. Went in on a Thursday afternoon around 12:30 pm for lunch and we were alone. But, slwoly 3-5 parties came in and tables got occupied. It is very easy to spend $50+ per person if you order a drink as well. Food was no doubts great and only vegetarian menu available for lunch which was a huge bonus for us

Pluto was absolutely amazing, and took care of all of us so well. He was able to give us an in depth about every dish on the menu, and recommended his favourites too! He went above and beyond, and even delivered us our bag we accidentally left as we walked out. The food was PHENOMENAL! Fully vegetarian meal with so many GF and Vegan options. I walked out of that feeling so satisfied. It was exciting to be able to pick through the entire menu. My recommendations as an Australian are the: Dahi Vada! Do not skip this!!! This dish was amazing. It comes with five pieces of beautiful tempura with an amazing tamarind and yoghurt sauce. The Pani Puri! It might be simple but they nailed it. Easily my favourite and such a good balance of flavours. The sauce afterwards was phenomenal with the Paratha. Also, for vegetarians specifically, try the Vindaloo Kofta. You won’t be disappointed and might be the only time you will get to try such a dish.

Other than the papdi chaat everything else was bleh. The cholas had an excess of a certain ingredient that was overpowering and tasted weird. The tacos were overtly sweet and the drinks were quite average.
Shivani K — Google review
We celebrated a wedding dinner at Besheram for a party of 25 guests. Chef Heena offered to tailor a specialized menu for us, but we decided to go with her regular Chef's Tasting Menu, which everyone loved. It was better than we expected. it had classic Indian dishes alongside creative inventions. Even the members of our group who usually prefer more traditional Indian fare were impressed with the flavors. One guest preferred a spicier pani poori water, but most actually liked the spice level. Another guests loved the aloo paratha. Personally, I thought the kachori's were unbelievably good - spicy, sweet, moist, flavorful (I don't usually like kachoris). All of the food was excellent, creative, and had fresh ingredients. For the service, handling a party of 25 isn't easy, and the service team was outstanding. The pacing of the courses was flawless, allowing us relaxed time to chat, connect, and savor each dish without feeling rushed. They somehow managed to make a party of 25 feel intimate and relaxed, like we were just having a conversation with friends instead of a massive formal dinner. The ambiance was perfect for our celebration. With Diwali happening now, the restaurant was decorated with festive touches like tea lights and garlands, and the music DJ was playing dance music and old Bollywood classics that made the mood feel festive. The ambience felt casual enough for everyone to feel comfortable and festive enough to feel like a special event. We appreciate Chef Heena and her team for making our wedding dinner go smoothly and feel special. For a casual yet refined vegetarian dining experience, we would definitely recommend Besheram.

Besharam isn’t your typical Indian restaurant—it’s a love letter to Gujarati flavors with a bold, creative twist. Chef Heena Patel has taken the comfort and nostalgia of traditional Gujarati cuisine and reimagined it in ways that are both surprising and deeply satisfying. Every dish feels like a memory brought to life, but with an unexpected spin. The flavors are familiar yet exciting, from beautifully spiced snacks to home-style classics with a fresh, modern take. Whether it’s a playful version of a childhood favorite or a completely rethought regional dish, the chef finds a way to make each bite feel both comforting and new. Gujarati food has never seen this kind of creativity. If you’re looking for food that’s packed with heart, heritage, and a little bit of adventure, this is the place to be.

The donuts were delicious. The donuts have no seed Oils, they are Fried in palm oil and the glazes use olive oil. The guy at the register was very helpful and Friendly. The atmosphere is in construction. They will be having a stage With an eatery for things like burritos and such in a couple of months. I’m very excited that they’ve moved to this location. That’s a bit easier for me to get to. Sometimes i just have to have a doughnut. Today I got a lavender English breakfast donut that is partly eaten in the photo, a maple donut and a lemon poppyseed donut

Phenomenal donut shop. Wide selection of great cake donuts Mon - Thur, “Real” donuts also Fri - Sun. Brunch most weekends. Crème Brûlée is to die for. I recommend going early!

The lavender earl grey donut is the best donut I've ever had. The donuts here are pretty sweet, but the flavors are so good! Pumpkin donut was also great. Pepples Donut Farm is a pretty cool place in general.. You'll have to come by and check them out!

Flavors purchased - Mexican hot chocolate and blueberry. Texture - It’s bouncy and kind of cake like. Definitely something I enjoyed about it that was different from most donuts. Taste - Classic donut flavor. Sweet and the flavors aren’t super strong. Personally, I have a preference for stronger flavors. The chocolate wasn’t super chocolaty and blueberry wasn’t all that tangy or strong (I know blueberry is generally hard to get right sometimes but i still would have liked more flavor). Price - I paid around 10 dollars (including the tip) for two donuts. Only bought two to see if I would like them. TLDR; Definitely sweet (like most donuts), the texture is good, flavors aren’t as strong as I prefer, average cost $3-4 per donut.

I wasn't sure what being vegan added to a donut but decided to give it a try. The dining room wasn't yet open but would be a nice space to chat and do a little work once it is available. I like that they have coffee & a great selection. I really liked the maple yeast donut, very moist and crisp and fresh. The vanilla coconut was also on point but the chocolate coconut was stale and dry, so I'll make sure to ask which are the freshest next time! Glad to have this business on the block & hope there are more local eats coming to Adeline corridor.

Every time I’m in the Berkeley area I have to hit up donut farm. Usually I just grab donuts, but today I went on a limb to try one of the savory options: the mac and cheese. The cheese sauce is so flavorful compared to many that I’ve tried! You can tell a lot of love was put into it
Lindsay V — Google review
Their best donuts are on the weekends when they have yeast raised donuts. I've included a list of the available yeast raised donuts that the cashier provided me. The cashier was a bit rude to me this morning but idc because the donuts are great and it's worth the social friction to get them. She seems like maybe she's smart and capable in other ways besides being nice to random strangers who want to give the business money, like maybe she's helping with the interior improvements or something.

Nestled in a relaxed neighborhood by Lake Merritt, Vegan Donut Gelato is a delightful haven for plant-based dessert lovers. While they may not currently offer gelato, their selection of vegan donuts is truly impressive. From moist and cakey varieties to classic raised options, you can indulge in flavors like lemon, maple, matcha, and even Oreo. The bakery also features tempting treats such as apple fritters and cinnamon rolls that are sure to satisfy any sweet tooth.
We've been searching for good vegan donuts near San Fran and this spot is by far our favorite! If it wasn't advertised as vegan I honestly wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Definitely stop by if you want some delicious donuts, it's worth the drive.

The best donuts in the Bay! Their custard filled choc/maple bars are extraordinary, as are the jelly-filled donuts, apple fritters, and frankly everything else I've tried. I believe it's a family-run joint, and they're always super kind and helpful. We've been known to drive an hour out of our way to load up on their stuff, and it's NEVER a disappointment!

Great vegan donuts with the feel of a classic donut shop. I got the glazed donut and a matcha with oat milk. Both were satisfying.

We moved here from Chicago, where yeah… the winters were freezing and the hills were nonexistent. But the pastry and coffee game was on point. Here near Lake Merritt, Vegan Donut Gelato has the donuts covered. Their classic yeast raised donuts are delicious and include toppings and flavors like Oreo, you classic birthday sprinkles, Boston cream, and cinnamon crumble. I’m still hoping for crunchberries, but would visit again!

Super nice family run “hole in the wall” with great vegan fare. I’ve been in search of the perfect banh mi in Oakland and this checked all the boxes. Keeping in mind they are vegan, the Vietnamese fake deli meats are delicious as usual. The mushroom pate adds umami, and the bread is fresh— crunchy crust and soft inside. Perfect! I sipped on a Vietnamese coffee while I waited, no need to worry about lactose intolerance kicking in. So tasty! I’ll have to try their donuts at some point.

I don't typically like donuts, but these ones are really good. The Vanilla Sprinkles raised donut had the perfect texture and was delicious. Definitely try this place out if you get a chance! I'm so happy that they're vegan!

Timeless Coffee is a popular vegan cafe in Oakland that offers a wide variety of freshly made pastries and strong, flavorful coffee. Despite not labeling itself as vegan, the cafe is fully vegan-owned and all items are 100% vegan. The in-house roasted coffees are highly regarded by locals, and the cafe also serves an impressive selection of breakfast items. Visitors can indulge in delicious treats like scones, cinnamon buns, chocolate truffles, tiramisu, and towering layer cakes.
The best vegan pastries I've had. You would be able to tell they are vegan. The apple danish was delicious. The coffee is solid for specialty coffee; they roast their own beans at their Piedmont Avenue location

I’ve tried a few other coffee shops nearby but always end up coming back here. For black coffee drinkers: they good blends! Their pastries are quite tasty and most importantly fresh! I love the blueberry glazed donut. 🍩

One of the best coffee chains in Oakland (imo)!! I love their iced lattes—the most robust and complex flavors I’ve had from medium roast beans and I don’t even usually drink iced lattes. The best part is everything is roasted in Oakland (❤️ local) and all their pastries are VEGAN (but don’t let that distract you from how good they are). Butttt the matcha is just ok fyi and I’m ok with that

We knew we had to order Timeless cakes for our vegan wedding in July 2025 because Timeless is our favorite cafe and bakery! They made us a two tier vanilla cake with vanilla frosting with a house-made raspberry jam filling (see picture below). Emailing with Diana to customize our order was easy and she was very responsive. We sent her inspiration photos and our floral color pallet and they procured the flowers to decorate the cake. Cake pick up on the day of the wedding was very easy as well. Their staff helped load the cake in the car and our venue was only a few minutes away so transportation was easy. When we first saw the cake before our cake cutting we were blown away with how beautiful it was and how it matched our exact idea of what we envisioned. The cake was delicious! Beyond this cake we also ordered two other half sheet cakes- a lemon cake with lemon frosting and a vanilla cake with pink strawberry frosting and fresh strawberry filling, which were also amazing! We were told by multiple guests that it was the best wedding cake they had ever eaten and were also blown away that it was vegan! I can’t recommend Timeless enough to make a decorative cake for any special day or celebration.

Great coffee. I had an Americano, which is my usual at any coffee shop, frankly it’s the best way to have a coffee and know that there’s nothing for it to hide behind. Timeless, coffee, nails it for sure. My wife had a Cortado which she also thought was delicious. Very nice staff as well.

Vegan Pastries are fire. Apple Danish 👌 Latte is a little over frothed, but the bean they use is flavorful. Edit: Service was hit or miss, seems to depend on the day. Do be careful if trying to work or meet here … the music can be loud at times. The food at this location was a touch better than the other location on Piedmont for some reason… but the vibes and comfort were off some compared to the location on Piedmont. Brand is really polished, and despite the loud music at times or hit and miss service, it’s overall a nice place. Very affordable. Latte: 7/10

Food is delicious, was very excited to try out this cafe.. The staff were rude though and didn't seem happy to be there.. so that's unfortunate. If your looking for a cafe to sit and enjoy a nice atmosphere, it wasn't that either as they had edm music blasting on a Sunday morning. Hey all for some good music but yeah wasn't vibing with that early morning. Other then that delicious food, disappointing experience.

Ananda Fuara, which means "fountain of delight" in Indian, is a popular vegetarian and vegan eatery with a spiritual connection to the renowned guru Sri Chinmoy. The restaurant offers a diverse menu featuring plant-based dishes that have attracted both loyal patrons and curious newcomers. The well-lit and modern atmosphere, combined with affordable pricing, makes Ananda Fuara an appealing dining destination.
DELICIOUS! Quiet and serene energy upon entering. This quaint little place is a GEM! Everything was very tasty. Good portion sizes. Service was a little slow but the servers were all very kind. Will absolutely eat here again. Try the desserts!!!
Lisa C — Google review
Went to Amanda Fuara for lunch today and overall it was a good experience. This is a Vegan, Vegetarian, and Plant Based restaurant with modest decor and Indian themed. I appreciate restaurants that cater exclusively to a particular crowd because all vegan options are few and far between. Central located on Market Street near City Hall, this restaurant is easily accessible via Bart and has both dine in and carry out options. I ordered a Beyond Meat burger and sweet potato fries. Overall, it wasn’t bad. The burger was drenched in BBQ, which overpowered what should have been crispy lettuce and other veggies. They also have freshly baked sweets with a healthy twist, if you have a sweet tooth. I definitely recommend trying to place out. On a critical note, I was given the wrong order, walked back to my office, only to have to turn around and go back. This was I accepted, especially when I consider the heat wave and the fact that the restaurant wasn’t busy. Mistakes happen, but, if I wasn’t in a position to come immediately back, my review would have been far more critical.

From the moment we entered we were made to feel relaxed & comfortable. A great soothing atmosphere. My husband & I had brunch and the flavors of the food were excellent! Highly recommend the yogi tea & lemon ricotta pancakes! The waitstaff was so attentive & helpful especially the young man who seems to be part of a family business. We can’t wait to come back for dinner and to bring our family & friends. Definitely a fantastic surprise in our neighborhood. Glad it’s here!

Highly recommended. By far the best vegan carrot cake I've ever had. Definitely the best vegan cake I've tried in all of the bay area. The samosas are full of flavor. Veggie burger is delicious. Staff is diligent, kind, and attentive. Even though not everything on the menu is vegan, at Ananda Fuara you don't have to worry that you'll accidentally get served something nonvegan on accident. I ate here with a nonvegan friend and staff double and triple checked that the person ordered correctly and knew their items weren't vegan. So great to see. Thank you!

Excellent vegetarian and vegan food. I had a Indian dal lentil soup with a greece spinach salad together with a mango lassie. All was very delicious and the service is relaxed and very friendly. At a sunny afternoon the restaurant was very warm inside.

Hot served and good quantity. Although I didn’t like the taste of vegetarian lasagna and portobello quesadillas with dal. Lasagna had very few veggies it was very dry with just all cheese and edges was too thick to bite same was with portobello shell and fillings inside it. Vegan chocolate cake can be made little less sweeten.
Avinash S — Google review
I've come here a handful of times now and have had good food and experience each time. The first time I went, I was warned by several friends who said they had a very strange and awkward experience with the servers, but I haven't experienced that myself. They are perhaps not the friendliest, but I get the feeling that they're going for a minimalistic and zen (maybe too zen?) level of interaction (i.e. they'll take your order and are helpful if you have questions or need suggestions, and they'll bring you your food, but they're not going to ask you how you are or anything like that). I've enjoyed all the food I've had from here. The Neatloaf (made vegan) was amazingly delicious especially with the mushroom gravy it comes with. There's a reason the Neatloaf Dinner and Neatloaf Sandwich are some of their best sellers. The vegan carne asada (soy-based) tacos were really good as well, and bigger than I expected (you get two). I got the tacos with a cup of dal as part of their lunch special, and the dal was lightly spiced and really good, too. Together, they made for a very filling lunch. Items that are vegan or that can be made vegan are clearly marked on the menu. I only wish it were easier to tell what's gluten-free, though. Only a handful of things are labeled on the menu as gluten-free, but the servers have been able to tell me what's gluten-free and what's not and what can be gluten-free.
Barbara C — Google review
Restaurant offering vegan and vegetarian food. There were a lot of different different options and types of food ranging from sandwiches to entrees and desserts. There were lots of cakes too! I had a salad with add on tofu with the lemon tahini dressing which was quite filling. It’s simple food but feels fresh and healthy. The smoothie was too sweet I found but tasted good as well. Service was friendly enough and the dining area was clean and had good distanciation. The restaurant is associated with a guru so there’s a spiritual aura to it with spiritual music - can be either off putting or calming depending on how you feel!

Arizmendi Bakery (Lakeshore) is a worker-owned bakery known for its thin-crust pizza, cookies, scones, and breads. The bakery is popular among locals who line up for their made-from-scratch baked goods and pizzas fired in on-site ovens. Seating is limited, so it's recommended to grab items to-go. The bakery also offers a daily flavor of vegetarian pizza with creative blends of vegetables, herbs, and gourmet cheeses.
Delicious vegetarian pizza and delectable pastries, capped off with fast service, a wonderful atmosphere, and a convenient location! Every day has something different for the pizza and pastries, so we will definitely be coming back for more in the future!

This was a great find for us while staying in Oakland! We stopped back for a second visit during our trip since we were so happy with the food and baked goods we got on our first visit. It’s a collaborative bakery that’s a great spot to try out some amazing varieties of baked goods. Everything from baguettes, cookies, muffins, biscuits, bagels, focaccias, breakfast breads…a whole spread. You can’t go wrong! Everything we had was amazing. The scone I had was as good as any I’ve ever had, and the same goes for the hot pepper and cheese focaccia bread. We also enjoyed their cinnamon buns and blueberry muffins. The coffee is also very good and they make it in small batches to keep it fresh. My daughter enjoyed their iced coffee. They also had cold beverages, fresh fruit, and salads, but we didn’t try that. We weren’t there late enough to try their pizzas, but from what we were told by locals, it’s amazing. Based on our experience, it wouldn’t surprise me! To top it off, the workers were super friendly and helpful, and they really move the line through efficiently. There’s no table service, but there’s seating available, either at longer community style tables, seating along the window facing the street, or outside on the sidewalk. Just make sure to remember to pay for your street parking at the kiosks along the street. I didn’t notice parking was not free and came back to find a $75 parking ticket from the City of Oakland! That’s not a typo. I made the right decision the next day on our follow-up visit and paid $1.75 for 35 minutes of parking! Next time we’re in the area, we’ll be back (and we won’t miss third parking kiosk)! Hopefully to try the pizzas too!

The menu is quality through and through. I had their pizza of the day and it left me wanting to come back the next day. Pure deliciousness and fantastic prices. If you’re in the area, make this a requisite stop – you will not be disappointed.

I can only dream of this type of business opening in LA. The pizza of the daywas delicious! It included: lemon oil, feta, tomatoes, feta, mozzarella. The sourdough crossiant was yummy! I may stop by there every day while I'm in the area.

Been here a few times, pizzas are always good. Pastries and cookies are usually pretty good too. Have to check the site for the current options since they change daily but they post the schedule a week at a time.
Chanun B — Google review
Excellent pizza, in fact one of my favorites. The baked goods can be either B+ to A+ delicious depending on the item. That said, for the price, I do expect a little more premium quality along with better variety. 4.5 stars. Someone said paid parking but I think weekends might be free but I’ll check better next time. You can always use the Trader Joe’s parking lot across the street for free.
MegaPrime G — Google review
Great food. Great service. Comfortable atmosphere in a safe, vibrant part of the city. Close to Lake Merritt and Piedmont. If you haven't been here before, you should visit. Great pizza and a variety of great baked goods. I believe everything here is vegetarian, and even some vegan options. If you ever get a chance to try the pizza with cashew cheese, try it. I wouldn't have known it wasn't dairy cheese. Very busy during afternoon and evening hours. Parking can be hard to find. I recommend parking in the garage at Trader Joe's.

This pizza place offers something unique, like a citrus pizza. The taste is surprisingly balanced. I love the novelty of it, and the flour crust is delicious. Before I went, there was a person playing the guitar, which added to the cool vibe, even though the shop was a bit crowded. I have ordered pizza of the day and yes, they do only vegan options.

Vegan restaurant
The Butcher’s Son Vegan Delicatessen & Bakery is a charming, industrial-chic spot offering a variety of pastries, coffee, and creative vegetable-based mains. The brother-sister team behind the establishment draws inspiration from classic comfort food flavors to create plant-based dishes like hoagies, reubens, tuna melts, and chicken tenders. Their all-vegan menu features sandwiches, salads, gyros, sides, and sweets.
I recently visited a vegan deli in Berkeley. Their plant-based Reuben sandwich was a revelation—savory, satisfying, and indistinguishable from its traditional counterpart. The ambiance was casual and inviting, perfect for a relaxed meal. However, the wait time during peak hours was longer than expected, and seating was somewhat limited. Despite these minor inconveniences, the quality and taste of the food made it a memorable experience
Kyryl Z — Google review
Ah, I do appreciate that this is a dedicated vegan restaurant, but for us, it just was miss. My aunt (not vegan/plant-based) didn’t enjoy the fried “chicken” that she order on her Caesar salad. I tasted it and understood why, it had that weird , spongy, seitan texture. The salad alone is good because their dressing is excellent. I ordered the mozzarella sticks and Jalapeños Business. The inside of the mozzarella sticks didn’t give the cheesy pull that I’ve found at some other spots, it was more cakey. The marinara and breading was tasty, but I did not care for the cashew cheese’s texture. The flavor of the Jalapeño Business was good, but the texture was a miss for me. The highlight of the meal, was the pickle; they have some of the best pickles. For the two of us, we were definitely disappointed with the meal. I don’t see me trying this spot again; not willing to spend $65 on a meal that was so dissatisfying.
Reginice — Google review
This place is a vegan’s paradise! My go-to brunch and lunch place for the weekend in Berkeley! Can’t say enough good things. The vegan steak and egg sandwich on a hoagie roll is probably my favorite item on the menu (but I’ve never had anything I didn’t like here). The Reuben sandwich is also top notch, but on the richer side (taste wise). Basically, everything is good…just go…try it for yourself…and become just as obsessed! Also worth noting, they had a ton of case items that you can buy for home. Everything from desserts, sauces, snacks, vegan meats, and vegan cheese. They even carry the Climax vegan blue cheese that made headlines for causing disruption in the dairy blue cheese market. They have plenty of indoor seating as well as a beautiful private patio in the rear of the building. The staff do a great job of keeping the place clean and I’ve always left satisfied.

Steak and cheese. The idea is not to expect the same as an old Philly cheesesteak. But it brings the same joy when eating it. It was packed and could barely take a bite without it all shooting out. Nice hearty roll, flavorful steak and plenty of cheese. Added cooked onions, lettuce and tomato. Hit the spot. Side bacon Mac and cheese. Love this side dish

6/19/2025 For the 2nd time I got the gyro sandwich without lettuce on gyro flatbread and got more onions than usual plus i was given extra tziki sauce I told my mom that Weird Al goes to Butcher's daughter in LA. I surmised Weird AL was a vegan by the 1989 album and movie soundtrack in UHF where Weird Al says that eggs are liquid chickens implying that Weird Al is vegan. I saw there were three quiches cooked and on the counter. This time I noticed the carafe that says TIMELESS COFFEE on it and it reminded to get the vegan cross aints on Piedmont Ave in Oakland at the Timeless Coffee just around the corner from where I live. I finally got to eat here and got the pickles and fried chicken sandwich. The cafeteria burger pickles were too chewy and salty for me, next time I would eat them on the side. I should have let the sandwich cool down because I couldn't really taste the flavors and all that sauce. I want to eat it again soon! The chicken Parm sandwich is big enough for 2. There is plenty of setting in back of the restaurant in the courtyard shared with a neighboring restaurant. hello Reginice I'll like your review if you like my review. I can't add more photos from today of my gyro sandwhich with be'ef instead of chick'n. Actually I noticed that you got 2 stars out of 5 and i feel this rating is rude and unappreciative even elitist given that this is in Berkeley near a famous public uni. Not all restaurants have really good everything on the menu is not equally good. The cheezesticks you will just have to wait until the inventor of vegan cheeze that melts the way we want it to for pizza comes out of west Africa Senegal I believe. Your mom was super silly to not order something else. Of course the chick'n pieces for your moms salad wasn't going to be that good. Obviously you should have ordered something else or asked more questions instead of being like that. Okay its Juneteenth and I have to write a letter to my friend Stewie and the food camper trailer to go vegan veganize so they can sell more orders. We are in solidarity as vegan restaurants for the most part. Eating rabbit food isn't my thing so I'm thankful for mocks meats. And I don't have a car to shuttle myself around to get here easy peasy unlike some people

8/28/22 We did eat in again today for the first time in about a year. We easily found a parking space this time on a Sunday around 11 a.m. One person waiting to pick up an order to go. Prices went up (what hasn't?) and if you eat in you still eat out of a To Go Box but, they still give you s.s flatware, not those ridiculous breaking, single use (sometimes truly a single use?) knives and forks! Tastes great, same familiar menu! See below for my favorite items. Of course I forgot to ask for the un-toasted bread this time! I was OK. 8/18/18: I switched to the Rosemary chicken sandwich as my favorite, I ask them NOT to toast the bread (why ruin the fresh bread?) and add the Bacon! It is delicious This was our first visit to Two Mamma's: We had one "Bacon" Benedict and one "Sausage" Benedict. Both were delicious!!! The Bacon Benedict was the perfect size for one hungry person and the Sausage was enough for two hungry people! Either the potato salad or green salad are excellent with the Benedicts! The restaurant was clean, staff friendly and helpful! We'll be back to try other items on the menu.

Excellent reasonably priced vegan restaurant in an interesting Oakland neighborhood. I loved the breakfast sandwich and the “chicken salad” sandwich. I got both and took part to go, the chicken salad sandwich is a ton of food, breakfast sandwich is not quite enough by itself. I was not as impressed with the sides as I would have liked, the potato salad was one-note and the kale salad was not massaged enough for my tastes. That being said I’d go back in a heartbeat! Great staff too.

The cafe is located next to WeWork and is frequented by busy office workers who appreciate the fresh, healthy, and flavourful bowls served here.
Delicious vegetarian family meal (that can be made vegan upon request). This week’s menu was elotes, Chile relleno, and grilled romaine lettuce. Easy metered street parking available. The order was ready upon arrival. They thoughtfully package their food in compostable containers. Support this great cause!

I work from the wework next door just so I can get lunch here. Super flavourful, fresh, healthy and filling bowls in a cafe started by a local non-profit. Love this spot.

I got there a little after they opened. Two things that I wanted weren't ready yet. So I got the Southwest bowl. It was good. I like how they use compostable materials.

Yummy! Totally healthy kale salad. I wanted protein but no meat so I went for this salad. Really good.

This establishment is amazing! The food is excellent. When the young man was preparing my food he took his time and was very gentle with it. I ordered the collard wraps. It was not that type of slamming of your food you get when you go to fast food restaurants. He handled it as if he was preparing for a special guest. When he presented to me I was so surprised at the presentation. It was more than I expected. Then I dug in and there are no word to explain the flavor. Just go and check it out for yourself. You won’t be disappointed.

I took some time to just see how beautiful Oakland was. I took a walk to city center and found an amazing Gem called CORE Kitchen! The food was AMAZING!!! Everything was made fresh that morning with only produce, nuts and spices! I thought I was in heaven, I've never seen a place like this that tastes this awesome and it is 100% healthy! I got my kids to eat all thier fruits and veggies with out a fight and this is a first! :)

Mr. Dewie’s Cashew Creamery is a delightful cafe that specializes in vegan, non-dairy cashew milk ice cream made from organic ingredients. Their popular cashew milk-based ice cream comes in a variety of flavors such as Banana Nut, Caramel Almond Crunch, and Golden Spice, which features turmeric. The creamery prides itself on using no fillers, additives, preservatives, gums, or oils in their products.
This was the absolute, most delicious cashew ice cream! You could’ve fooled me, it’s better than normal ice cream! Zoe was super sweet, helpful, and was so welcoming! We ended up getting a lot more than we planned for, but Zero regrets and a happy belly! I highly recommend for any vegan people, especially with allergies, everything is super clear and easy to understand, and seriously delicious! Thank you and see you very soon! (and they even had cashew milk bones for my pup! What a dream!)
Christine L — Google review
I have been going to Mr Dewies since they first opened in Albany. I am dairy free and soy free and sensitive to any sort of additives. It is extremely difficult to find ice cream that not only tastes good but that my body can tolerate. Because of Mr Dewies, I have found that cashew milk based ice cream is my go to. Its texture and creaminess is very similar to dairy based ice cream and doesn’t have the nuttiness that almond milk based ice creams have. I am so happy that there is a Walnut Creek location now because I do not live close to the Albany one at all but it’s so good that I have continued to make the journey over there for years now. My friends and family who can have dairy even prefer Mr Dewies over going to a dairy based ice cream shop! My favorite flavors are strawberry and caramel almond crunch 😊
Amanda R — Google review
I didn't know that the vegan ice cream can be this good! My favorite flavor so far is the ice cream. Fresh and refreshing strawberry is definitely shining in the scoop. The creaminess is also vibrant without overpowering the strawberry. The shop is clean and nice to sit down and enjoy the conversation :)
Tee P — Google review
Such good ice cream! Best vegan one you could find ever! For me the best ever could find too! Their staff is always so warm (unlike the ice cream) and sweet (like the ice cream)! Once I dropped mine by mistake, they saw it and offered to replace for free without me asking for it!
Disha G — Google review
The ice cream is amazing, and so nice to have gluten free options! We got the triple with caramel crunch, roasted cashew, and banana nut flavors. You get so much ice cream and really amazing value, especially considering the grocery store prices of cashew ice cream. Will definitely be back!
Grace A — Google review
I’ve been to a lot of ice-cream places and would usually find vegan ice cream somewhere at the bottom of the menu, as the supporting cast member. At Mr. Dewie’s Cashew Creamery, vegan ice cream is the protege - the John Wick of the cast - the main character. Making it easy for any vegan person to just indulge without questioning the possibility of any dairy contents. I truly love the golden ice cream (turmeric) because it borders on the line of sweet & not sweet. If you are someone whose sweet tooth is MIA; I would recommend the green tea option, made with matcha. If you have an active sweet tooth; the roasted cashew option would definitely pack a punch in satisfying your love for sweet ice cream. I’ve once had vegan ice cream made with beetroot, chocolate & coconut somewhere in South Africa, and was hoping that they would have a similar flavor. Anyway; great place
Nneile N — Google review
Very happy they had almost everything I was looking for. I think the special flavor - Raspberry ? sold out before I got there. My favorite ice cream flavor was available - the chocolate coconut. Yay! I just bought pints to take home.
D. T — Google review
I like the coconut chocolate and mint chip flavor here. Even it’s vegan ice cream it’s still creamy. Roasted almond it’s little too sweet for me. They do have good quality of ice creams here.

Pizza restaurant
Bare Knuckle Pizza is a delightful casual eatery that specializes in wood-fired, Neapolitan-style pizzas crafted with local ingredients. This charming spot offers an impressive variety of over a dozen pizza styles, blending classic flavors with innovative toppings. Notably, they provide plant-based alternatives for those looking to enjoy their favorite pies without animal products. One standout option is the cherry pie featuring vegan mozzarella and feta paired with dried cherries and agave—a true testament to their creative approach.
First time trying the pizza. We ordered two pizzas, a vegan margarita pizza (pictured) and one with lots of meat for my husband called David Mack. We ordered our pizza for pick up, which is probably a good thing as there is no inside dining and only two small tables outside, not a problem, just something to be aware of. The attendant at the walk up counter was friendly and the team preparing the pizzas seemed to be happy. Vegan food can be hit or miss but I found the pizza did not disappoint. The sauce had good flavor and the cheese had the texture of authentic cheese. My husband felt his pizza was small compared to the price but also said it had really good flavor. Two thumbs up from us. We would be happy to order pizza from them again.
Alison F — Google review
Who pulls this out of an oven & thinks it’s ok to serve? The pizza is usually pretty good for bay area standards, but, coming from Trenton, this is terrible. The elements are there to make this a true tomato pie, but the tomato paste sauce was too sweet & the crust was indistinguishable from the remnants of the oven. The other two pizzas we ordered were pretty good, but what got me was the dough in the TKO was thick & raw in the middle while this thing was sent to hell.
Anthony S — Google review
The only place that serves full gluten full meat but also no dairy pizza I've ever had. ❤️ It's a joy to see the small vegan dairy products so well utilized and in a second form. my dairy allergies are the worst the mushroom truffle vegan pizza and the vegan margherita+ meat is my favorite
Sara R — Google review
The vegan cherry bomb is a must-try — it offers a unique balance of sweet and savory flavors with chewy cherries. While I appreciate their offering and the extensive vegan menu, I find their crust too chewy for my liking. Additionally, the estimated pickup times vary between the app and text messages, often taking longer than either predict resulting in sitting and waiting what feels like forever.
Josh W — Google review
Not usually a huge fan of vegan pizza, Viet and the rest of the folks there crush it with excellent toppings, some great crust, and an overall selection of pizzas that are just unbeatable. Add to that they are just all around good folks and any time I’m in Oakland and they are open, I’ll stop in
Jane N — Google review
I'm in town for business and staying at a hotel around the corner. Thank you Yelp for helping me find this place. I had the TNT pizza, and they warned me about the Thai peppers when I ordered it. One Thai pepper was placed on each of the four slices. I ate the yellow one, and it was crazy hot as advised. The pizza was delicious. This place had as many vegan options as they had non-vegan options. Service was quick and everyone was friendly.

If u want a DAMN excellent pizza, come here!! Perfectly chard bubbles, fluffy chewy crust and local ingredients. What more can u ask for? Having non-greasy hands after eating the pizza.. Don't walk...RUN and get some excellent pizza!!! Your mouth and tummy will thank you later!!!!
M W — Google review
Had been wanting to go here for a while and finally made it. It's located downtown, in kind of a dead area. They are pretty much only doing takeout (they have 2 cafe style tables that can seat 1-2 each). Which is kind of a bummer bc their thin crust pizzas are best eaten straight out of the oven. They lose a lot when they get cold.... My friend and I ordered the margherita and the spinach. Was not blown away by the sauce on the margherita..but really like the spinach pizza! Would go back for that one. Besides those two all of their pizzas have meat but they do have faux meat alternatives plus vegan cheese if you need a truly vegan pie.

Californian restaurant
Camino is a rustic Californian eatery in North Oakland, brought to you by the crew behind The Kebabery. Specializing in dishes fired from the wood-burning oven, they offer a variety of options including kebabs, fresh salads, and seasonal produce-forward sides like carrot salad and smashed beets.
Camino offers a 3 course steak dinner on Mondays throughout June & July. The courses are a salad, main, & dessert. The starter is a grilled eggplant and tomato salad, which was delicious. It might look like a small serving. But, take your time & it'll be quite filling. Next, was the main course of steak. The short rib was delicious with the right amount of fat & meat. Also, the meat peels off the bone easily. The sirloin is tender & delicious. Last, dessert was peaches & figs. While I'm not a peach person, the dessert, as a whole, was a fun way to end the meal. Also, I ordered a dessert wine which paired well. The waitress treated us well and made good recommendations for my beer & dessert wine. The restaurant is pricey, so this would be a once-in-a- while treat. Will return when offered again.
Jason L — Google review
I don’t remember the last time I walked out of a restaurant feeling so underwhelmed and disappointed. But true to all the other recent bad reviews on Yelp, this place had no redeeming quality about it. Clearly, the owner and chefs either didn’t care about its customers’ feedback or didn’t bother to read them. When we arrived, we were greeted coldly by (I think) the bartender, who then just asked us to wait for the hostess. After maybe 3-5 confusing minutes, the hostess arrived and took her time to lead us to our table. While waiting for our friends to arrive, we walked by the open kitchen and was impressed with ambiance created by the open fire grill and seemingly creative way of using really fresh, seasonal ingredients. Our friends arrived shortly after and we proceeded to order some appetizers from the really limited menu. For some odd reason, while cordial, our waiter had a somewhat nonchalant tone and manner about her. It just didn’t feel like she was happy to be there. We pretty much had everything on the menu for 4 of us, because every dish that came out were tiny and not what we expected, so we had to order more. The tiny salads were weird (one had some crackers with grapefruit and orange bits, and another was a duck confit salad that didn’t look or taste it). The grilled oysters while tasty, were $4 each! Our water jug was empty 3/4 of the time at the table, and our cocktails took over 30 mins to arrive, after some nudging at our waiter. When drinks finally got served, they came in half-sized cocktail glasses. The entrees were terribly mediocre. You’d expect way more from a $44 steak; it wasn’t memorable, had very little flavor and wasn’t even cooked medium rare, as we were promised. It came with one boiled potato, maybe? We ordered 1.5 portions of grilled crab that cost $50; it tasted like it was boiled (bland), and that was it. Nothing more to this dish. The 3rd and only other entree on the menu was a $34 squash and mushroom dish, which probably tasted better than the steak and crab, but was an appetizer-sized portion. I barely got 2 bites out of it. We have paid way more for good quality food with great service, but not only was Camino neither of those, it left us feeling insulted. For $80 per person and still feeling hungry and unsatisfied after, we totally regret coming here. It feels very unpleasant to say this, but if the owners don’t do anything to improve on Camino’s overall service, food and portions, I don’t think they’ll last very much longer. I’ve never been so compelled to write a negative review than I have tonight!

Fabulous! Order the crab (when in season), get the King Trumpet if you're in a vegetarian mood....or try the duck... it's that good! Top off with Walnut meringue with poached pears and peanut ice cream with candied peanuts. The cocktails are great, too!

Second time in a year, the menu rotates/changes often so pictured dishes might not be available when you visit. Good food, delicate presentation, small portions. I can't get over the fact they charge for the bread..not in line with their community table concept.

Cozy restaurant in Oakland. They regularly hold private dinners with famous chefs for book release parties. The dishes cooked on the fire as especially good and it is quintessential California cooking done by a talented Chez Panisse alum. Grandeur is a compact counter-serve eatery that offers a variety of halal, gluten-free, and vegan options. The menu features delicious meat options that are all halal and delectable vegan cheeses. Customers can enjoy tasty burgers, hot dogs, fried chicken, and fries. The establishment is locally owned and has received praise for its amazing vegan meat choices including cheeses and sauces. Additionally, the restaurant offers plenty of gluten-free options such as the incredible vegan feta and cheese sauce.
The Cauliflower wings + sweet potato fries were so good! I felt safe to eat, as they are clearly marked gluten free. Everyone who worked there was so nice. The sauces were delicious.

Amazing food, plenty of gluten free and vegan options. The vegan feta is incredible as well as the cheese sauce. The twisted fries are my favorite. The cauliflower wings are another favorite - the sauce is sweet and hot and the gf batter is crispy. You can’t go wrong here!!

This was a great experience that has all of their meat halal and the cheeses are all vegan but nevertheless tasty. My friend and I split the burger and fried chicken. The beef burger was delicious and next time I really would like to try the lamb burger as I’ve heard great things on it. The fried chicken felt a little dry and I didn’t enjoy the spicy slaw with it. Just didn’t have the best combo but overall I enjoyed my experience here. The portions for the fries are also a lot so do come here hungry.

Great addition to the area and locally owned. Amazing vegan meat options including cheeses and sauces. I ordered the vegan dog with grilled onions, sriracha aioli and gouda cheese and it was incredible. Gonna come back for a impossible to beyond comparison with my vegan friends soon. Those fries look bomb. Options for meat eaters as well tho! Also enjoyed the many kombucha options. Friendly staff and chill environment. Perfect for picking up picnic food to take over to Lake Merritt.

I’ve been coming to this place for a couple of years and when they reopened after COVID I was super happy. I sometimes get the Full order but I’ve always GOT the half order with a Jalapeño. This is the first time I’ve ever received a tiny box. Usually both orders come in a one size box but the quantity is different. Also, Ethiopian food SHOULD not come cluttered in such a small compartment as this destroys the quality of the food. The quality & integrity of this place has significantly declined. Had the owner simply advised that their sizes and packaging has changed, I would’ve accepted. However, she continued to say “I’m the owner and this is how it’s always been.” This is completely flawed and as entrepreneurs integrity and quality of customer care should be priority. Usually when they mess up my food, I don’t say anything but the audacity of the blatant lie to my face was disrespectful. I definitely will not return to this place!

Enssaro Ethiopian Restaurant is a small, cozy eatery located in the historic Adams Point District in Oakland. The restaurant offers a limited but flavorful menu of spicy Ethiopian specialties, along with traditional drinks like tej, beer, and wine.
Third time having Ethiopian food and it was a tasty experience. Our large platter for 4 people included beef, chicken, lamb, salad, vegetables and an other items. We enjoyed glutton free injera—which was completely satisfying. Service was prompt and personable even with a full restaurant.

Portions are generous and they have many combinations for meat lovers and vegetarians. I keep coming back!

I had never tried Ethiopian food before, so this is not a comparison. After explaining this to the gentleman and that I would have no idea what to order, he thoughtfully considered the matter, asked a couple of questions (when I last ate; what I had) and put together a custom plate based on the meat sampler for me to try. The Highlight: Doro Wat (“if you haven’t had it, you haven’t really had Ethiopian food”): Absolutely phenomenal flavor! The sauce has a touch of kick that brings the senses to life, and the cheese adds in a dynamic texture. It was so good I went back the next day for lunch to try the Special Kitfo (steak tartare) and I was blown away. While the Doro Wot was bursting with flavor, the Kitfo was an exploration of texture. Can’t recommend this spot highly enough!

truly can not say one bad word about this place. from the crisp spicy marg w/ ethiopian spices to the veggie/meat sampler, the chefs didn’t miss a beat. the restaurant space itself is inviting and gives off “enjoy the intimacy of this space” energy. not only that, but the wonderful daughter of the owner took the time to explain how the injera (bread) is made. it’s not everyday that you get great service, an explanation behind the success of a family-owned business, and a beautiful experience with a night out. 10/10 no crumbs left behind
Hannah Y — Google review
Used to like this place but not anymore! Portions compared to prices is ridiculous! The vegetarian plate includes about 2 table spoons of each of misir and kik alicha (lentils) Doro wot was okay although lacked intensity and needed some more spice and sauce base! Most annoying part was waiters asked twice while I was eating if I was done. If you see me chewing why are you coming to my table and asking if I was done???? The second time the waitress asked if she can take one of the plates! And I just nodded WHILE CHEWING! There are too many good ethiopian restaurants in the area for this behaviour Won’t be back for sure!

Khana Peena is a modern Indian restaurant with a bar facility located in Oakland, California. The restaurant serves some of the best tasting and healthiest Indian cuisine around. All of the indian spices are fresh and hand-picked by the owner's family members in India. Chicken Tikka Kabobs are a popular dish on the menu at Khana Peena.
We placed a large order for delivery through the Khana Peena website. At the time that the food was supposed to be delivered, the Uber driver cancelled (despite clear instructions on how to find us and without ever trying to contact us). I called Khana Peena and was informed the food was picked up and there was nothing they could do as this was an issue with Uber. I tried to contact Uber but as the order wasn’t placed through my Uber account I was unable to reach anyone. I called Khana Peena back and was informed the owner was already on the phone with Uber. He got us a refund, had the food remade, and even offered to drive it over to us personally. The food was delicious, as always. We were truly thrilled with the level of service and will continue to order here regularly.

Nice people, good food. They do a good job of the things every Indian restaurant around does, and they have some things that are a bit different from what everyone else has. I typically get the full dinner because the dal soup side is quite nice.

Very small portion for the price. I usually order from Namastey Patio down the street. They have good portion, and their dishes are packed with flavor. Khana Peena was lacking in terms of flavor and portions. I ordered chicken tikki masala and it was closer to butter chicken and there were only 5 pieces of chicken cubes floating in a watery sauce. Same with Saag Paneer. There were only a few pieces and the rest was cut with water. It was quite surprising since the reviews are great and especially since the dishes were slightly more expensive than Namastey Patio. There are so many good Indian restaurants around this area. While this restaurant wasn’t bad, it did not stand out.

Ike's Love & Sandwiches is a casual chain restaurant serving creative sandwiches. The sandwiches are made with quality ingredients and arrive quickly, which is great for a quick lunch. The Dutch Crunch roll in particular is highly recommended.

Their sandwiches are kinda okay ... But unimpressive. They had so many choices, maybe I've been making the wrong ones there. It was hard choosing a sandwich from the many eye-catching options listed on the menu — some with an Asian twist. Creative, California deli sandwiches at their best. Complimentary caramel apple lollipop a nice touch.

Ike's may have the best sandwiches in the whole bay area. I would most definitely give them the best sandwiches in downtown Oakland. The pricing is very reasonable. I think I may have been there twice in one week. I loved it, my friends loved it as well. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes a good meal. I liked the fun names they have for their subs. Got a "Barry Z" last time I went, that's short for a Turkey and Avocado. It's a good idea to call ahead, because they l they're pretty popular. Gets busy really fast in there and there's no where to sit. Everything is to go. Check this place out or you'll be missing out. Enjoy.

Kakui Sushi is a superb sushi eatery in Oakland, CA, featuring innovative Japanese cuisine in a small, modern dining space with a lofty ceiling. This top-notch establishment offers both indoor and outdoor seating options as well as takeout and delivery services. They serve dinner every evening and lunch from Tuesday to Sunday. Their menu showcases an array of delectable options including sushi, sashimi, and other traditional Japanese dishes for the convenience of takeout or delivery through third-party apps.
Kakui is always such a treat! Super fresh sashimi; everything on the menu melts in your mouth (try the brussels sprouts!) Service top tier and friendly. Special shout out to Kenny!

We found this gem while strolling through town before going to a local show. The dining room was inviting and well appointed. We were pleasantly surprised to find that food absolutely delicious. I've had a few Lion King rolls before but I'd have to say this was the best I ever had. Definitely go to Kakui Sushi when you are in town.

The sushi is fresh and delicious. The wagyu dish at $25, however, wasn't wagyu beef. It wasn't tender and extremely tough to chew. Very disappointing. I complained to the waitress, and she took it back. Nice ambiance, but slow service.
Dot A — Google review
Best sushi I’ve had. Fish is fresh and every piece is full of flavor. Kenny’s the man and provides great service. Sit at the counter, the chef is fun and personable. I recommend the Alicia Roll and if it’s on special, the Mexican Summer Roll. Pair it with the Kinoshiro unfiltered sake to wash it down with and you got yourself one heck of a date night. Worth. Every. Dollar.

Friendly service. Tasty sashimi with good oil flavors. The miso dashi fries was surprisingly addictive. Good relaxing atmosphere.
V W — Google review
The sushi is consistently fresh, carefully prepared, and delicious! I have one concern: They are so busy that, if you try ordering delivery after 6pm, it can take AGES to arrive, which is not fair to the drivers and annoying to the diners.
C.A. C — Google review
Unfortunately, the day I picked up my order the restaurant was prepping for a catering event so I didn't get a real feel for the atmosphere. Also, when I placed my order on-line there was no mention that the restaurant would be closed to the general public due to a scheduled event. I lucked out by ordering in advance. No biggee, but I would have been somewhat upset if I had made the trip only to be turned away due to a planned event.

I honestly can’t say enough good things about this place: Service… amazing. Food… amazing… I mean just all of it. Please never leave Montclair. Jocelyn and Kenny, thank you for the best service. ♥️, Minnie & Wally 🐕

Tay Ho Oakland Restaurant & Bar is a vibrant dining destination that brings the essence of Vietnam to the East Bay. With a menu inspired by cherished family recipes passed down through generations, this eatery offers an array of traditional Vietnamese dishes made with locally sourced ingredients. One standout dish is their turmeric-coconut crispy crepe, filled with pork, poached shrimp, and fresh herbs—perfectly complemented by their housemade nuoc mam sauce.
Went here yesterday with my wife and we were both blown away. She had the draft pilsner, I had a diet Coke (served in the can with a glass of ice), and we shared the Gỏi Gà Xé Phay (Classic Mary's Free-range Chicken Salad) and the Bourdain Vermicelli Bowl – Bún Đặc Biệt. The portions were very generous; we had to take some to go. The flavors were incredible. The grilled lemongrass pork especially stopped me in my tracks; it’s one of those bites where you pause just to let your brain catch up with how delicious it is. Parking was what you’d expect for the area; we found a metered spot on the other side of the block and walked over. Service was smooth, food came out quickly, and the whole experience left us wanting more. We’ll definitely be back.

Really disappointed in the service. Arrived for a dinner to share a cozy space with 4 other institutions to bond & yet when we requested to pay our bill, the server said they cannot split our bill because 1. They didn’t write down what each person was ordering. 2. They refused to accommodate and split the bill even with 3 separate payments. 3. The main female server was not friendly and dismissive from beginning to end. 4. There were 3 other large groups not with us who were present and yet, I felt we were being targeted because we weren’t of a certain demographic. In top of this, the food wasn’t warm when it arrived. It looked good but it was cold. Had this been a group of a certain demographic, the restaurant would have most probably catered to their request to split the bill with each group who was present.
Cinta T — Google review
The food is okay, prices are expensive for what it is. We did not like the banh cuon here, the rolls are too thick and the pork inside are dry. Everything on the vermicelli bowl was decent but stale/not fresh or hot.
Phuong L — Google review
The food here is amazing!! The cocktails are great too. We got a bunch of appetizers and felt full - will have to try entrees next time. The staff and environment is very friendly.
Talia K — Google review
Food is delicious and is quick. I’ve been several times but hands down my favorite is the garlic noodles with short ribs. My other go to is the Drunken Beef. My lunch companion orders the noodle bowl which looked really good so I’ll try that next time.

This restaurant is incredible. Everyone walks in like it's just a normal Thai restaurant... The food is superb and out of this world. The flavors in each of the dishes we tried were unique, layered and sophisticated. A true delight just like the staff and servers. Delicious cocktails and good wine as well.

Hands down this is my absolute favorite Vietnamese restaurant. I have Vietnamese in-laws and have been to Vietnam so I've had all home cooked and authentic foods. Tay Ho delivers extremely tasty traditional Vietnamese cuisine that is slightly elevated with upscale quality and service. They have a lot of gluten free options too which is great for me. Love that they have Bánh Khọt and Bánh Cuốn which can be difficult to find in restaurants but are some of my favorite Vietnamese dishes. Their vermicelli bowl is also fire.

House Special (Banh Cuon Dac Biet) is amazing: Banh Cuon is the right texture, springy but absorbs the fish sauce well. Fried stuff is super crispy. Bean sprouts and mints are very refreshing.

Binh Minh Quan is a delightful Vietnamese eatery that has become a beloved lunchtime destination for downtown workers. Known for its vibrant menu featuring classic dishes like noodle soups, stir-fries, and spring rolls, this cozy spot also offers unique specialties such as the crispy Whole Roasted Catfish—just remember to order it ahead of time! The restaurant's inviting atmosphere is enhanced by a charming fountain at the entrance, creating a perfect backdrop for enjoying their hearty pho on rainy days.
One of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants! Great food, great service. Totally clean and good place to eat, not really a place for "atmosphere" but you wouldn't expect it to be. Get the combo rice plate with the pork hop and shrimp cake!
Alice W — Google review
1/8/2025* This time, I ordered the #36 Rice Plate, which includes shrimp, chicken, beef, an imperial roll, and a shrimp cake. The standout for me was definitely the imperial roll, it was delicious! The chicken and beef, while well-seasoned, had similar flavors and were a bit too salty for my taste. The shrimp was overcooked and quite dry. Despite this, I really enjoyed the experience of having a plate with a variety of dishes. It was a fun way to try a little bit of everything. 8/8/2024 This was a takeout order that I placed online. When I arrived at the restaurant, the food was ready for pickup—easy and convenient! I tried their Pho Noodle Soup. Let me share my thoughts: Broth: The savory broth was clear and light, which I appreciated. It didn’t leave me feeling overly thirsty afterward—a definite plus! Ribs: The tender ribs were a highlight. They added a rich flavor to the dish, complementing the other ingredients perfectly.

Was happy to find a pho spot at 3pm, but sorely disappointed. Had to walk 20m to the register to make every order or request, despite restaurant being empty, while front-of-house person (Connie) sat below the counter watching a TV show. When asked, finally, to speak to a manager (clearly, the responsible people were behind the scenes and in kitchen - I figured, parents or grandparents) Connie said, “I am the manager.” She then refused to further fulfill orders and declared the restaurant closed. Whether this is just post-Covid ennui, or a laundering operation, I would steer clear. In the 1.5 hrs I was there, I was the only customer.

Seven courses of beef was insane - everything was so fresh and delicious and it was quiet and a good atmosphere. Muzak smooth jazz pop covers and service attentive and friendly without being pushy.

My family friends showed us this spot & we enjoyed it. The stuffed chicken & green muscles were delicious as well as my avocado smoothie!

This place is much bigger than it seems from the outside. Plenty of seating and nicely organized. I had the rib and flank PHO and it was really savory! Great service too!
Leonel S — Google review
Came here for pho on a rainy day and it was great! Staff is mad friendly and service was number one. I came in about 20 minutes after they opened so I could skip the lunch wait. They filled up pretty quick even though it was pouring. Portions are more than enough there was plenty rare steak and noodles and the broth here is among my favorites. The spring rolls and vermicelli is real good too. They have a fountain in the front that sets the mood perfectly making the whole spot really coY.

Cafe Eritrea D'Afrique is a small Eritrean cafe that offers flavorful traditional stews, vegetable platters, and honey wine. The ambiance is authentically East African with the scent of frankincense and coffee filling the air. A must-try dish is the Quanta Firfir which combines dried beef in a spicy sauce with injera. It's a carb-heavy treat perfect for fueling up before cardio.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wow, what an amazing experience at this Ethiopian and Eritrean restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious, bursting with authentic flavors that left my taste buds dancing. Every dish was prepared with care and showcased the rich culinary traditions of Ethiopia and Eritrea. The service was exceptional—staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. The hospitality here is unmatched, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made our visit truly special. I can’t wait to come back and highly recommend this gem to anyone craving fantastic food and a heartfelt dining experience!

This Ethiopian/Eritrean cuisine restaurant is by far the best that I’ve experienced in the entire San Franciso Bay Area! The owner, Zimam, and her staff are incredibly hospititable and exemplify courteous values with all of their customers. The food (especially the Veggie Combo) is incredible and I highly recommend it. The atmosphere has great incense and is great for both solo and social eating with friends.

I recently visited Eritrea Cafe, and I had a fantastic experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a cozy, authentic feel that made me feel right at home. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, offering great recommendations and making sure we were comfortable throughout our meal. The food was absolutely delicious! I tried calling "Everything" has Tibsi, Zilzil and so on , and they were full of flavor and perfectly cooked, really stood out. I also loved the variety of options available on the menu, from traditional Eritrean dishes to more modern takes on the cuisine. The portions were generous, and everything was reasonably priced. Overall, my experience at Eritrea Cafe was outstanding, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Eritrean food and excellent service. I will definitely be coming back!

Among vegetarian combos that I’ve tried at places, this one stood out as especially flavorful and delicious. I was also excited because the combo included shiro, so I didn’t have to order it as a separate dish.

Great food, and the homemade honey wine is worth a try too! Vegan and gluten free options. The service was very good and a relaxed pace, so meeting up to have dinner with a friend was pleasant and we did not get rushed out. The portions were healthy and the atmosphere was also lovely. Recommend!

Wonderful experience every time we come. The food is fantastic (we regularly order the vegetarian and meat combos) and I always get one of their smoothies. Service always kind and generous. Samosas also hit the spot!
Alejandro B — Google review
The food at this restaurant is always great, and the customer service is fantastic! What really makes it special is the shiro—wow, it’s the best I’ve ever had. Every time I come here, the restaurant owner herself is in the kitchen cooking and even serving the food. You can really feel the love and passion in everything she does. It’s rare to find a place where the owner is so hands-on and welcoming. Definitely one of my favorite spots!
