Ramsgate Tunnels, a historic underground network, served as a shelter for 60,000 people during WWII air raids. This subterranean city was crucial in protecting the locals from devastation during the war. The tunnels housed over 1,000 people and even hosted Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill during his visit to Ramsgate. Today, visitors can explore this underground marvel on guided tours and witness captivating graffiti left by urban explorers.
Great place to visit on a hot day. Nice and cool. Had a great tour by Colin. The humor and knowledge from him was spot on. Food and drink in the cafe was also great as well. Well worth the visit

Me and a friend turned up a little late for the last tour of the day, however thankfully we were let in anyway. Both tour guides Luke and Martin were very friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend this tour to anyone in the area, tour ticket prices are about £9 per adult and well worth it !
Dan T — Google review
We did the tour of Ramsgate Tunnels. Our tour guide was Gill. The tour was brilliant. It was done at a nice pace, very informative and with humour. You really get a flavour of what life was like during war time. The history of the tunnels was fascinating . The staff are all volunteers. I highly recommend this tour. Thanks Gill, you are a star!
Julie B — Google review
Ramsgate Tunnels is a significant attraction with a rich historical background mainly due to its contribution during World War II. The tour lead, who was a very knowledgeable guide, was absolutely brilliant where we were told about the vast history behind the plan and its execution and the role it played to protect thousands of families during the war. The temperature inside the tunnel remains at steady 11C throughout. The tour takes roughly 1 hour 30 mind and advance booking is recommended to avoid disappointments. We visited on 7th September where the British railways had numerous displays of 200 year history of the railways which we were so keen and excited to have a look. This is worth to visit and know about its history, significance as well as enjoy the genuine beauty of the well preserved site.

My sister and I paid a visit to the secluded war time tunnels in Ramsgate, we booked our places on the tour about an hour before. Then went for a walk. We paid £9 per adult which I think was a reasonable amount. The tour starts with a short video. Clive our main guide/volunteer was very informative with a sense of humour and the other 2 volunteers (I think were Trevor and ?Kevin?) were extremely patient & helpful, pointing out markings on the walls, lighting up areas with their torches so we could get better photographs . The tour was approx. 2 hrs. I would advise sensible footwear as in places it was a bit wet & slippery, some mats/boards were down so that your feet wouldn't get too wet. We enjoyed our tour and the museum. They also had a little cafe area at the entrance which we did not make the use of on this occasion. I would highly recommend a visit 👍🏻
Ann-marie Y — Google review
Brilliant bit of history I didn't know was there!! Cheap to enter, well worth the hour and half tour. Not recommended for small kids.
Trish P — Google review
A fascinating trip into Ramsgate's wartime past. Our guide, Kim, gave us insights into the experiences of the wartime residents of the town (with some mention of those from Margate too 😂). He made the visit even more interesting due to his enthusiasm and passion for the subject and the tunnels. We would highly recommend this tour.
Graham D — Google review
Worth every penny of the tour cost. Tour guide Bruce was very knowledgeable and interesting, kept everyone captivated throughout. Lasted approximately 90 minutes. I highly recommended this tour.

Located in the grand Georgian Clock House on the quayside of Royal Harbour, Ramsgate Maritime Museum offers a deep dive into the area's maritime history. The museum showcases various themes such as harbor development, lifeboat rescues, fishing, navigation, and the long history of shipwrecks on Goodwin Sands. It also features artifacts that reflect the town's heritage of fishing, shipbuilding, and rescue operations during wartime.
Very interesting. Entrance is only £2.50 and there are 5 rooms of information, including a section on the Dunkirk evacuation

Firstly, this is not the museum this is Airbnb Royal Sands apartment Ramsgate postcode CT118FH we had a nice day very trendy apartment Seaview right on the promenade so we have Wetherspoons 3 mins walk and Peters fish factory fish and chips and also there is Mediterranean restaurants nearby sandy beach 1 minute walk and electric gates to get into the car park only one issue no Aircon or fan would be 5 stars if this was in the apartment price💰£ in British pounds £170 a night hope this helped everybody enjoy😊

This historic building was closed when we passed by and looked to be undergoing renovation (hopefully). Not much information about it or price to visit ordinarily. Follow here and the IG link in profile for more travel and food and drink tips, ideas and reviews!

Visiting Ramsgate so I can enjoy everything there but couldn’t make it as closing time. Hope back soon for it. Btw it looks great history packed inside this museum.

Well worth £2.50.. Barbara and carol were fabulous hosts. Museum small but packed with wonderful things.. Nice to see lots of the buildings characters retained... Like i said best £2.50 ive spent in a long time.. Well deserved 5*
L C — Google review
Small museum with some fascinating content but in need of TLC. The volunteer staff are very friendly. I understand a refurbishment of the building is planned which will enable a refresh. When we visited several display cases were empty whilst contents were apparently out for conservation. I would definitely return when the museum reopens and will look out for details of the new plans...

Couldn’t go in due to Covid but got to see it from the outside 👍🏼

Broadstairs

Mentioned on
6 lists
Broadstairs, a charming coastal town located on the Isle of Thanet in east Kent, England, is known for its inviting golden sand beaches and historic high street with independent shops. The town's seven bays offer a perfect seaside escape, attracting visitors since the 19th century when steam power and railways made it accessible to Londoners. Notably, Charles Dickens found inspiration in Broadstairs for some of his most famous works while holidaying at Bleak House overlooking Viking Bay.

The Micro Computer Museum in Ramsgate is a small but fascinating seasonal museum dedicated to the history of computing and video games. It houses an extensive personal collection of digital items, including old computers, consoles like Dreamcast, Spectrum, and BBC, calculators, and video games primarily from the 1970s and 80s. Visitors can even play vintage video games during their visit.
I recently visited here and it was such a brilliant experience! The place is packed with retro consoles, classic games, and even areas where you can play them yourself. It’s both nostalgic and loads of fun. You can tell it’s been put together by people who genuinely love gaming. Whether you’re a lifelong gamer or just curious about the history of video games, it’s definitely worth a visit. A real hidden gem!
French A — Google review
Amazing experience going back in time with iconic game consoles and computers. You are able to play the games and Mike, the museum 's owner, is very knowledgeable and can tell you the history of computing and game consoles. I would recommend the museum to anyone interested in gaming and computers 🙂
Luigi F — Google review
This place is an absolute dream for anyone who enjoyed home computing in the 80s or 90s. A really comprehensive range of computers and consoles from the UK from back in the day many with boxes and histories. A good range of the computers are working with various games to choose from so you can have a play. The owners Mike and Carol with volunteer Doug are really happy to tell more about any of the exhibits. They do this because they want to share their collection and are so lovely. So much better than many other museums with a fraction of the selection.
Nick H — Google review
This is such a gem of a place! Its run by a couple who have been collecting for years, they open up their collection and allow you to play retro computer games for as long as they are open. We took the kids, but I think the adults enjoyed playing the old skool games from their youth more!!
Sam G — Google review
If you love 8-bit retro games and consoles in particular then you are going to be in heaven! What a fantastic collection of technology nostalgia. I did not want to leave! Highly recommended
Andrew R — Google review
Mind blown! What a collection you guys have I really went down memory lane today it was an absolute pleasure to play these different consoles and chat to the lovely people who run it. I played on the Snes, Mega Drive, PS1, Gamecube they even had Pong from the 70s! History goes way back you'll even find Atari's and old pc with the tapes in with the huge joysticks! If you want to spend an afternoon going back to your childhood and the good times I'd 100% recommend Micro Museum. Thank you Mike and your team for making me feel welcome and chatting about all the knowledge of these old classics I learned lots today. I'll be back soon with my friends.
Sparki D — Google review
As a local resident, this was my first visit. Amazing collection of all things home-tech based. So many memories unlocked. Great that you are able to play on some vintage games, eg Pong. Definitely worth a visit.
Claire B — Google review
Popped in whilst in Ramsgate for the weekend and stepped in to a wonderful world of nostalgia, accompanied by our knowledgeable guide. I would absolutely recommend dropping in. The owner is passionate about his subject and keen to talk through it all… all whilst playing old school games in the way they were meant to be played! No emulator comes close! Drop in, say high and check it out.

King George VI Memorial Park

Nature & Parks
Park
King George VI Memorial Park, located on the cliff tops between Ramsgate and Broadstairs, was once the estate of wealthy financier Sir Moses Montefiore. The park features walking trails with coastal views, a quaint cafe housed in an Italianate Glasshouse, and a children's play area. The highlight of the park is the 18th-century Italianate Conservatory with its delicate cast iron frame and scalloped glass panels creating mesmerizing shadows inside.
A lovely open green space to run around with the kids, have a picnic or take your dog for a walk. There is a small cafe here and public toilets and the whole area is kept clean and tidy. Even if you are walking through on your way to Ramsgate or Broadstairs, it's worth a stop to have a look around :)
Paul S — Google review
A lovely place for a walk, with shade in summer.
Johan — Google review
A peaceful, pristine and perfect park with a cycle lane running through to connect cyclists to the Viking coastal trail. Dog friendly with an epic children’s playground.
Charlotte R — Google review
Unusual park that's an ideal place to walk the dog. Plenty of open space and some wooded areas where the local green parakeets like to sit in the trees and make themselves heard. The very attractive Italianate glasshouse houses a lovely café with good food, friendly service and outdoor seating in the picturesque garden.
Andrew T — Google review
Just adore this park lots of changes since I was small child many , many years ago . Use your imagination and have a fantastic time whilst your in the park . You cannot get bored walking through King George park. Decided to take a walk through King George Park this morning with my husband and grandson . Had a lovely relaxing stroll watching the squirrels 🐿 jumping from tree 🌲 to 🌳 and the birds 🦅. We played a game of football ⚽️ while park was not busy . Grandson wanted an ice cream but unfortunately they do not take card due to poor internet reception and we do not carry cash with us .
Jeanette P — Google review
Lovely park and location great walks and cafe that's open sometimes
Ann S — Google review
I loved the park. It is big and clean and it is pretty relaxing. It is not crowded so you can enjoy a walk or just sitting on a bench, reading a book. The Greenhouse is beautiful. Make sure you get there before 4pm in a sunny day, you will love their coffee, tea and cakes.
Elena S — Google review
King George's park is alway a great place to be, it feels much safer as it has more foot traffic the others in the area, but that doesn't mean you won't get your privacy, there are about five different feilds to relax in, the larger of them is farthest from the main gate and is usually the most quiet, it does catch the wind. the play area is sheltered from the wind with trees all around it, wish i knew that before having my picnick in the cold haha. I feel the food from the keyosk is a tad overpriced but what do you expect. it's better to bring your own. I haven't been to the glass house in a long time but i remember them doing lovely cake.

Italianate Glasshouse

Mentioned on
5 lists
Greenhouse
The Italianate Glasshouse in Ramsgate is a hidden gem that offers a unique experience. Nestled in the King George VI Memorial Park, this 19th-century Grade II* listed greenhouse was originally located in Yorkshire before being re-erected in its current location. The glasshouse is now privately owned and maintained by Phil & Janice Dadds. Restored in 2005, it showcases a variety of plants and shrubs including agaves and vines.
This tea garden attached to an ancient glasshouse, hidden away in a remote corner of King George VI Park in Ramsgate, is so charming and idyllic that it has a vaguely unreal quality. Combined with the suspiciously low prices (less than half the cost of a similar treat in Costa Coffee or Starbucks), the mismatched fancy china, delicious home-made cakes and the erratic opening hours ("The Tea Garden is open weekends on fine weather days" states the website ambigously) and its proximity to extremely basic refreshment huts in the park or on the cliffs that tend to be packed with sunburnt sandy types accompanied by screaming kids and barking dogs, you would be forgiven for imagining that you'd walked into some kind of magical tea garden wormhole which only opens when the planets are in exactly the correct conjunction, or something. There are home-woven lavender spindles, actual towels and knick-knacks in the lavatory cubicle. They put complimentary Nice biscuits in the saucers of our tea cups. We were en route to a booked lunch, or would have stayed for sandwiches which we saw passing by to other tables and which looked delicious. We shared a slice of perfect Victoria Sponge, and eyed up a tempting carrot cake. Certainly it was closed when we've tried to go in on a previous visit, leaving us pressing our noses sadly up against the bars, and our friends who live locally assure us the glasshouse is open MORE often but that the tea garden is not always operational, leaving them to wander sadly through the glasshouse wishing for cake and tea. You might want to try telephoning in advance to avoid disappointment, or if you feel lucky, head in its direction on a sunny weekend, cross your fingers, click your heels together and wish. Good luck!

Mum's favourite picnic spot, we love coming here even though we live 20 miles away. The staff are warm and friendly and the food is very good. Sadly, I have been told this place has now closed permanently.
Jim D — Google review
Heads up to any other black folks/POC that are thinking of visiting the glasshouse for tea. Staff in general were pretty dismissive and unhelpful. Normally, I wouldn’t think anything of it. Sadly one server was so rude in particular that it gave me a feeling I’m sure other POC are familiar with. I don’t normally leave reviews at all, let alone negative ones, but I feel it necessary to warn others who may have a similar experience - I didn’t feel welcome at this cafe.
Kiran P — Google review
Amazing, friendly staff and loads of DELICIOUS food included in the afternoon tea. Everyone having a cream tea was jealous! Can't wait to go back
Katie P — Google review
Was a lovely serene location, well planned and risk assessed in current covid situation. Clean and comfortable with shade if required outside seating. Service and food lovely
Miriam T — Google review
Lovely time spent here this afternoon. First time visiting the area and we decided to take our puppy who was welcomed with open arms. Perfect spot to enjoy a cream tea or slice of cake and a cuppa whilst taking in the park and seaside for a walk.
Hazel — Google review
We have lived in the area for three years and today was our first visit to this wonderful greenhouse tea room. It was a pleasure to sit and enjoy afternoon tea on such a lovely day. Dogs are allow on a lead which is a bonus so many thanks to Phil and Janice for a lovely visit.

Went for a coffee this morning excellent service staff friendly, coffee good, tea served in teapot, food really delicious. Tables and chairs cleaned between customers and there's a very good space between tables. Customers are asked for contact details and hand sanitizer is on entering.

Royal Harbour Brasserie

Seafood restaurant
Situated on the harbor arm in Ramsgate, Royal Harbour Brasserie offers a relaxed Parisienne brasserie ambiance. The restaurant boasts spectacular views of the sea and Ramsgate Marina, making it an ideal spot to watch the sunset. Although known for its evening menu, visitors can also enjoy a more limited selection during other times. With positive mentions in Time Out articles and a warm welcome, this brasserie is definitely worth a visit for above-average food and breathtaking scenery.
We had a wonderful lunch and will definitely be back again on our next visit to Ramsgate. The smoked seafood platter was delicious and our group also loved the hake fillet with truffle potato gratin, lobster bisque sauce and green beans. Mum had the fish and chips and loved it. The decor, ambience, location and service were superb. A fantastic experience and a relaxing time had by all. Thank you Royal Harbour Brasserie for looking after us ❤️

We were blessed by a glorious sunny day and , even though the walk along the harbour arm felt like a battle against the wind ...the deck of the Brasserie defied physics and was as the lady who was running the Brasserie had promised very still and beautiful. The view of the town and of the seaweed wonderful , the staff really nice and friendly and the food delicious we happily grazed for the entire afternoon and I can't wait to go again. THANK YOU

Situated right at the end of scenic Ramsgate Harbour wall. We received a warm and friendly greeting and were shown quickly to a table. The service was excellent throughout and the food amazing. The bread that came with my Tiger Prawns was baked freshly by the Chef and was incredible. Really worth the pleasant walk to reach The Brasserie.

Great place to have a delicious Sunday roast with a view of the sea here in Ramsgate. Also a good spot for an open air drink or just boat spotting on their back deck. We reserved ahead via the website and got a window seat indoors! Dogs are welcome here!

My friend and I and our 2 doggies had a great time at the harbour brasserie this afternoon. Food was delicious especially the mussels, stunning views over the sea and our hostess was fantastic and so welcoming. We’ll definitely return when back in Ramsgate!
Sarah — Google review
I had booked ahead a bit randomly and were so glad we did! It’s away from the busier and more touristy / grotty places on the seafront and in an old port authority building, you feel like you’re on a ship. Wide terrace (sadly was a cold day) and views across the open sea as well as the harbour. Efficient and friendly service, good food and good selection and reasonably priced. Clean toilets too!

Food was lovely and portions were massive, really nice staff and the location is great. We loved to see so many dogs and that there's a special menu for them🥰

Ramsgate Main Sands is a beloved destination for boating enthusiasts, located near the Royal Harbour and marina. The beach offers sunbathing, swimming, and the option to rent sun loungers or deck chairs. It's a family-friendly spot with children's rides and various dining options nearby. Flanked by chalk cliffs, this sandy beach provides a serene atmosphere for visitors seeking relaxation. Additionally, it is known for its cleanliness and picturesque surroundings.
It was perfect for me! Even in less than ideal weather, I was able to relax wonderfully at Ramsgate Main Sands. The long walk along the beach to the yacht marina was just what I needed after a long drive. The peace and sound of the waves did me a world of good. I was particularly impressed by how clean the beach was. I can imagine it's even more beautiful here in the summer, but it was great even now. It was the perfect way to unwind before continuing to Dover for my ferry. Cheers.

A pleasant day at the beach with family, fun and food. Plenty of space to set up picnic blankets and allowed some music to dance, dance, dance. Toilet facilities close to the beach and plenty of bins around. Restaurants at the front to have lunch afterwards. Only downside was the seagulls - very bold in taking our food.

Event venue
Dreamland Margate is a vintage-style arcade featuring old pinball machines, fairground artifacts, and a small cinema. Located in the traditional seaside town of Margate, it originally opened in 1880 and underwent a major £25 million investment three years ago. The park now boasts new rides, a food court and bar, as well as a music venue with a 15,000 capacity.
Really loved the afternoon there. £40 for 20 tokens, best buy. Every ride is 1 token. On some rides if the child requires an adult its still 1 token, which we thought was really good. I really do wish they would reopen the scenic railway though.
Jane F — Google review
Bustling with youngsters, the Dreamland park is a wondeful gateway to enjoy a wild day outside in summer. We visited for the very first time and had a wonderful time riding the roller coaster, pirate bay and water ride. There are attracting offers in terms of tokens. Brought back childhood memories in the rides. The scenic railway is temporarily closed now which is one of the oldest roller coaster rides in UK. Would recommend anyone to visit this place visiting Margate this summer. 😊
Khandker Q — Google review
Nice vibe for a weekend. We went in to get away from the rain and was pleasantly surprised. Loads of stuff to do for the kids. There is lots of funfair rides, a roller disco, an arcade and lots of places to eat.The arcade could be a little more well maintained. All the staff are friendly and helpful.

Fantastic great concert festival. Had VIP platform area so it was great view seeing top artists perform. How ever it is standing venue. This is suitable for all people. Carpark at back entrance. Had private toilets and bar on vip platform
Nicola S — Google review
Rides are lovingly kept and the operators make it fun. Facilities are clean as is the park. Yes the tokens are expensive and it can rack up if you have more than one person on the rides, but it's an experience, it's nostalgia driven and it's wholly Margate. Love it.
John K — Google review
Have only been to Dreamland for live music so can only comment on that side of things! A brilliant venue, husband and I love it! Saw manic Street Preachers/Suede in July last year and Scooter this evening. Fantastic atmosphere, clean loos, not ridiculous prices at the bar. Couldn’t ask for more! The vintage vibe is great, and it’s a nice walk from the car park to the venue. Friendly staff too. Great selection of food. Would deffo recommend Dreamland for a great live music experience. There is a really old and grotty looking multi-storey behind it which I have parked in both times with absolutely no issues. On the website now to see what else I can book!

Visited for UB40 on the 12/7/25. Quick entry and through the security quickly. The venue was well equipped with food vans , bars, and ample toilet areas. Security were fantastic on dealing with a few who couldn't handle their beers and busy puffing out their chests rather than enjoying the show. UB40 was amazing as always.

The Sailor's Church, built in 1878, is a historic redbrick building located near Jacobs Ladder in Ramsgate Harbour. Originally serving as a sanctuary for sailing crews and a home for fishing apprentices, it is now a Grade II listed building. The church features historic pictures and miniature model boats inside. It was designed to minister to the men and boys who fished out of Ramsgate and provide accommodation for fishing apprentices.
The Sailors' Church was built in the mid 19th century to minister to the the men and boys who fished out of Ramsgate, and to provide accommodation for the fishing apprentices (also known as Smack Boys) and emergency space for shipwrecked sailors. The church itself is essentially rectangular and occupies the ground floor of the three-floor building. The rooms above, and the building next door, originally served as living quarters. The interior of the church is quite plain.

Opened in 1878, a red brick building with a blue brick banding which has Sailors Home inscribed on the central gable. The church is a Grade II listed building, inside there was a dormitory which was used for survivors from shipwrecks. It's a fascinating place, there are cabinets and pictures inside that paint a picture of the area and tell the story of the building.

Guests are consistently impressed by the vibrant flavors and beautifully presented dishes that showcase the skill of Chef Kumar and his dedicated team. The experience begins with complimentary treats like spring rolls and spicy vegetable soup, setting an inviting tone for your meal.
Absolutely delicious food - best Indian for miles around. We had our wedding breakfast here back in 2017, and a super tasty lunch today. Always a hit, and very reasonably priced for the quality of food you get. Takeaways are also great, but nothing beats eating in.

When visiting Ramsgate we asked a local where the best place for an Indian meal was and they sent us here. It was hands down the best Indian meal I’ve ever had. The presentation was lovely, the portions were generous and the food was made with love. You could really taste that it was a complex recipe. In between courses we couldn’t get over the little freebies they were throwing in. Everything was delicious and we will be back

We ordered take away but in this restaurant, very friendly staff advised us and recommended dishes - vegetarian option and lamb. Both meals were full of flavours. We ate it on the beach, which is few minutes walk away. Overall it was very good experience.

I had an absolutely delightful dining experience! The garlic naan was perfectly soft with a beautiful char and just the right amount of garlic—an ideal complement to the rich, flavorful curries. The paneer curry was creamy and comforting, with paneer cubes that melted in the mouth. The chicken curry was aromatic and well-spiced, while the mutton curry was tender and deeply satisfying, full of bold, traditional flavors. What truly elevated the experience, though, was the exceptional hospitality. The staff were warm, attentive, and made me feel genuinely welcome throughout the meal. It’s rare to find such a perfect balance of great food and heartfelt service. Highly recommended.

Amazing food , really polite staff . We will definitely be back to try more off the menu.

Nice restaurant with friendly service. They offered a few little things before and between dishes. Food was tasty, mains even came with rice, though we were disappointed with the okra which was too heavily battered and couldn’t taste of vegetable.
Serene D — Google review
We visited for a family meal for father's day and all thoroughly enjoyed the food. Every single dish had its own individual taste, not all based on the same basic sauce. My wife had the special, which was plaice with a fruity tamarind sauce, I had a rich pork dish and my daughter a korma. Each one was lovely as well as the vegetable side dishes, especially the allo Gobi. All topped off with a decent selection of desserts. For the quality it was excellent value, we'll visit again

The Dining Rooms at Albion House underwent a makeover during the closure in 2020, enhancing its status as one of southeast England's top boutique hotels. Dating back to 1792, the hotel maintains much of its original charm while incorporating modern aesthetics in its rooms. The pub offers a diverse menu for various occasions and has a family-friendly atmosphere with breakfast options available. Its outside terrace provides an ideal spot to savor beach views and soak up the summer sun.
I booked dinner for a table of 6 and a dog on a Saturday evening. We were welcomed into a private room. The food was delicious, the service was perfect and they welcomed my Maltese with open arms! I cannot recommend this place enough! If you’re ever in Ramsgate and looking for a gastronomic experience, you should check this place out!

What an amazing evening! Great food, great company and atmosphere. We were very lucky to be here on a night with live entertainment, Red the singer, she was absolutely phenomenal and set the mood. The good was so delicious. Yum yum yum.

The food was good. We had the Sunday roast. Apart from the food, we found it to be a confused experience. We arrived and were left standing at the entrance for 5 minutes, with the staff catching our eye as they walked past. After we just walked in and up to one of them, we were then showed to our booked table. It wasn't busy, still a few tables empty. Drinks order went straight in, then a good 10 minute wait for them, food order went in and that was about 20 mins so not too bad. The reason for the 3 stars is the welcome was not great and the noise level was almost too much at points. The music was turned up so everyone was starting to shout at their own tables making the whole experience more like a bar than a place to eat. We did ask for it to be turned down a bit, but it didn't seem to change. So if you're going for drinks and a light meal with friends, it's probably the right vibe. If youre going for a family lunch or dinner, I would give it a miss.

Popped in for brunch on Sunday and despite being one of only five tables, the service was incredibly slow and inattentive with staff simply not present for most of our visit. That being said, the food was good quality when it arrived and we enjoyed our meal.

My score reflects my comments and not the quality of the food. We arrived for a breakfast and was greeted lovely by the hostess on the front dest and showed us to our table, we had two Albion English breakfast and two lattes and I ordered 1 extra bacon. The quality of the food we received was great, lovely and hot the eggs were tasty .....but the problem we had was we only got half a mushroom ......each. For a £12.50 breakfast ( to add that 1 slice of bacon was a shocking £2.50 ) £35.05 total cost one would of thought a whole mushroom would of made the plate for a premium breakfast in a fine establishment. Very disappointing.

Lovely little dining place with some great views over the Ramsgate Royal harbour. Delicious Greek food and very friendly and welcoming staff and the restaurant owner. I enjoyed my lunch and highly recommend this place!

We were lucky enough to secure the Greek Arch for my son's wedding and they were amazing. There was a fantastic atmosphere, such a friendly owner, so accommodating, who treated us like family. She went above and beyond in every aspect of the planning and execution of the event. The staff were welcoming, thoughtful, smiley and constantly checking whether drinks or anything else was needed. They were super efficient and genuinely enjoying helping the day run smoothly. The food was incredible, well presented and such good value. Communication was excellent. They bent over backwards to make sure the wedding celebration was a success. I honestly couldn't have asked for more, it was a fantastic day! Just perfect in every way, thank you all so much.

A beautiful taverna in a lovely spot. We were a nightmare party for any normal restaurant but the staff and owners could not have been more accommodating and lovely to us. The food was delicious and came quickly, the vibe was relaxed and comfortable and the service was excellent and delivered with a smile. A special note about the owners, they really were fantastic, I found myself chatting to them for 20 minutes or so after my meal and they were a lovely couple. They even treated me to a couple of scoops of delicious dessert free of charge. Highly recommended!

Booked a table at late notice on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Beautiful location overlooking the harbour. The set lunch menu was great value and tasty. However, you MUST have the orange cake - it’s delicious. Thank god I don’t live closer I’d become diabetic! Great service, lovely owner. I’ll definitely be back for more.

First time trying this place. Got a takeaway of a chicken Greek salad with hummus and pitta. The chicken was bland like Iceland chunks and the salad was awful it wasn’t a Greek salad and didn’t have what was actually supposed to be init. Originally gave chips instead of salad got halfway down the road and realised went back asked for the salad they then didn’t put any olives or feta it just look like the salad scrap bucket. Staff seemed lovely though and nice opposite the harbour. Hopefully it’s just a one off.

Nancy is a very attentive and caring restaurant owner. If dining inside, you will sit in a converted ancient archway. You must get over a smell of damp upon entry, you get used to it after a couple of minutes. Once settled in Nancy will guide you through the menu. Her food is cooked with real love from the heart. You can tell she has mastered her cooking skills. The lamb and gravy were the best I've ever eaten. The house wine is absolutely amazing. If visiting Ramsgate I would certainly go again.

Proper pub with cosy spaces and a great atmosphere. Good real ale. This is a big pub which, thankfully, has not been ravaged by modernisation. The moulded ceilings are worth looking up for. Weekly quiz and lots of live music events. Steps up to both entrances. Most spaces up steps except bar and restaurant. Gents toilet up 1 flight of stairs.

Attended my uncles wake here, and I must say I was deeply disappointed with service from the bar staff particularly the female staff member…when asked they a man extremely small buffet was laid out that I would not say matched the price that was paid she simply shrugged her shoulders, when asked if they were going to provide plates for the food (non laid out) again she shrugged her shoulders and said “I don’t know” one of the guests had to go into town themselves to purchase paper plates from the shop…finally found this absolutely disgraceful since this event was for a wake and there was no compassion from this awful bar staff…you shouldn’t work with the members of public with that kind of attitude…not to mention this bar staff went on to barr a close family member for again mentioned the lack of food that was provided! Shame on you

The wife and I are in the process of buying a spot in Ramsgate so very chuffed to find this gem of a pub. Very nice inside. Local artists on the wall and pleasant atmosphere. Sun streaming through the big corner room windows probably didn't hurt. White bait portion size immense but the actual fishies probably a tad too big (freaked the Mrs out a bit). Sunday lamb roast bang on. Lots of tasty veg. Crucially not overcooked. Lamb yum with good gravy portion. Defos go back.

Great views from the front room overlooking the English channel, and for the ship spotters the working part of Ramsgate harbour. Not a great selection of vegetarian and no vegan, which was a bit disappointing. However can't fault my veggie burger.

Nestled in the heart of Ramsgate, Shakey Shakey Fish Bar has earned a stellar reputation for its mouthwatering fish and chips, often hailed as one of the top five spots in all of Kent. This beloved eatery is perfect for those dining on a budget without compromising on quality. Diners rave about the cleanliness and freshness of their meals, with gluten- and wheat-free options available to cater to various dietary needs.
Great family run fish shop with menus vegan and gluten free diets! The cod was fresh and the batter was cooked perfectly. The chips were really tasty too. None of the food was greasy and we all really enjoyed it. The staff were lovely and friendly too. This is now officially my favourite fish shop in Thanet! Oooh and the Scampi and curry sauce were great too! 🤤
Xen X — Google review
We chose this location just to get some chips, based on reviews, not even realising it had an extensive vegan menu. What a treat. Food was good and very well priced with generous portions. Large chips could have easily fed 3-4 people - it was a lot between 2 of us! The service was quick, the chips looked and tasted fresh. I wish we were staying in Ramsgate longer so I could sample more of their menu!

Incredible menu! If you are vegan or gluten free, you MUST pay Shakey Shakey a visit. Incredible tofish burger and vegan calamari. Huge portions, very good value. Amazing customer service. Great fish and chip shop vibes. Love this place!
Tristan G — Google review
Amazing vegan food! Omg! So much choice and the batter was incredible! We had the absolute best vegan onion rings we had ever had! The battered tofish (tofish burger) was excellent, really upgrades tofu to the next level! We were also intrigued by the vegan doner so will try that next time, Must visit if you want a real treat! They even had battered oreos on the menu, but the portions were so generous we had no room for these but will be back!
Kim W — Google review
You can pay by bank transfer! We nearly missed out on this gem as they say cash only but luckily I asked and could transfer and wow was it worth it. I like my fish and chips generously vinegared, salted and dunked in curry sauce and once I'd done all the above it was one of the most enjoyable I've had in England. The family that runs the restaurant is friendly and welcoming. They've even got a little community board so you can catch up on what's happening in the area while you eat. The curry spring roll was delicious too. I'll have to come back for the battered Oreo!
Jay G — Google review
After a tiring drive, and just a touch of parking trouble, I started the long walk down to the marina, loaded with luggage. On my way down the high street I spotted this great chippy; eat in, or take away, and I chose to eat in. I was delighted by the warm welcome I received from this charming family, and ate a feast for my supper. Don't walk past this wonderful place. If you like fish & chips, you will most certainly like Shakey Shakey fish & chips 🩷
Barbara G — Google review
Loved this place. Incredible value, great chips and crisp batter on the cod and haddock. It was recommended by family and we’d definitely return. Staff were very friendly too. Next time the battered Oreos!
Thomas W — Google review
Probably the Friendliest Chippy I've ever been to - and Gluten Free too. Some places I've been to, you order 1 size larger off the menu to get a portion the size you require. Not here. You order a Medium chips and in most places that would be a Large. A Large cod would be Extra Large. And as for friendliness - we were asked what allergies we had, then a carton of chips arrived, flavoured with a homemade sauce and vinegar. Lovely. Then when we'd finished a sample of deep fried oreos in batter arrived - lovely! The gluten free fish batter was a family recipe, apparently a signature dish in Ramsgate for over 15 years. Made a lovely change. A great experience. I cannot recommend this place higher. Long may it continue. It deserves your custom - Vegans and Wheat eaters also catered for.

The food it was delicious, specially the garlic bread on a pizza base! Not so good as in my previous experience. The pork belly was disappointed. Very very fatty, and floated in gravy, and the crackling very tiny, and a different receipt as previous. Desert, the apple crumble, boring. The crumple look more like shredded biscuits. So score only 4 from 10. I will go back and see if any remedy. Good luck

What a fantastic restaurant! Food was delicious, atmosphere was relaxing and cosy and the service was perfect. My parents and I started with the special "Salt & Pepper Calamari" which melted in the mouth. Possibly the best Calamari I've eaten! We all had pasta for mains and everything was fresh, hot and tasty. Seafood was particularly yummy. We had the Risotto Pescatora, Linguini Gamberoni and the Paccheri Caprino. We didn't really have space for dessert but we didn't want to miss out, so mum and I ordered the Pannacotta and the Creme Brulé. Om nom nom 🤤 The staff had big smiles and were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and are already planning another visit in the near future 👍🏼

Went for an evening meal. I have heard such great things about this restaurant but had never been. I had the tomato and cream soup for starter, I asked if it wasn’t possible for no cream and that was no problem. I then got confused with my order and ordered the wrong thing. What arrived was a creamy chicken dish (I was trying to avoid creamy dishes) I took the chicken off the plate and added it to my salad. The waiter said he felt terrible I was making a chicken salad but I assured him that it wasn’t his fault. I was getting flustered when ordering. The evening was great and the fab service made it even better. They took time to talk to us. Never rushed us. Had a laugh with us. I didn’t ask his name. But our waiter is an asset to the restaurant. We also had a lady Serve our food who was equally chatty and lovely. I will definitely go again!!!! I would recommend booking as it was quite busy.

London Southend Airport

Airport
Regional airport
London Southend Airport is a small, clean and stress-free airport that offers a first-class experience to its travelers. It has an industrial-style coffee house, boutique bars, and a sandy shoreline with characterful cockle sheds nearby. The airport has received praise for its friendly staff and efficient security process. Additionally, it is conveniently located just 40 miles north of Stansted Airport.
Our first flight into London Southend and we were impressed. Well organised arrivals, very clean arrivals hall and the train station so close - I particularly enjoyed not having to walk what seems miles from the aircraft to the arrivals - it seems so quick from stepping off the aircraft to standing waiting for the train into London. Will use again 👏🏻👏🏻

Southend airport. How do I describe southend airport? It’s local. It’s small. It’s quick. You will be walking in the front doors to the departure lounge in 10 ish minutes or less. There’s high-tech scanners, and for such a small airport it really makes it count. Good luck finding some budget grub to go with your budget easyjet holiday, though. The cafe, the shop, and the pub are MASSIVELY overpriced. The food on the plane is legitimately cheaper than the airport food. The toilets are fine, not the cleanest but fine. Therapy dogs are pretty cool!

Very quiet. Easy place to fly from although I was collecting someone who flew from Malta..cafe was closed.

So much quicker and easier than Stanstead or Gatwick. If you live in the south of Essex , its a brilliant choice. It took us a fraction of the time to get through check in and security than it has at bigger airports. No shuttle transfers, nice restaurant and a short walk to the gate. Highly recommended.

Glad to see more flights operating here. Really easy to navigate through the airport and super quick process.

Very quick through security. The longest part was the easyJet bagdrop where most flights go through. This was a 25 min queue. Don't buy anything in the restaurant though. It takes ages to arrive and gates close early/quick so it's not worth spending the £24 on a burger and handful of fries

I flew to Venice from here about 5 years ago and it was so quick. Parking is expensive though. Frequent trains. They dont have that many commercial flights but there are always lot of small planes landing, departing and sometimes doing touch and gos. Great place to watch planes and the big jets get quite close to you, and have to turn at the end of the runway which is cool.

Easy to use. Quick and efficient staff. Two main drawbacks; airport lounge is poor compared to other airports. Limited food and service. Stupid boarding system where you get corralled into a poly tunnel/large bike shelter where you 'fry' on a hot day. Very basic quality and embarrassing for the airport to arrive/depart via. Particularly, as looking to expand flights and passenger numbers

Manston International Airport

Airport
Been closed 4yrs currently temporary lorry park for #0perationStack. DCO re application to be sent to PINSgov to open as freight/commuter flights and state of the art airport. Also at same time current owners trying to change use to develop mixed use commercial and houses. Local plan currently states aviation use only.

Such great news for Manston Airport to re open once again, although held up by politicians and ridiculous people protesting against the opening, what those fools should think about is the amount of jobs it will bring back to Kent, it will also take the stress off from Gatwick and Heathrow airports in cargo flights and some passenger flights on short haul flights, the protesters say it will kill wildlife which is an absolute lie, wildlife adapts because animal's are not stupid, and there is another item that protesters are forgetting that if you build a thousand houses you need to have a secure job to pay the rents or mortgages as well as the utilities bills, and especially for people of Thanet it's a big saving to not have to travel to Gatwick or Heathrow airport, so jobs are more important to people of Thanet and by the way Manston airport has always been an airport for many years it's just the politicians and corruption that caused it to Close, so those who don't like Manston airport please leave and let people who need jobs and security in their lives, one more thing aircraft do not pollute as much as diesel lorries do because aircraft fuel is very much refined.

Does The UK really need an airport...? to serve as essential "portals" for global travel and commerce, functioning as hubs for people and cargo movement, and supporting economies through job creation, tourism, and investment. Airports provide the necessary infrastructure for aircraft operations, such as runways and maintenance facilities, and are critical for enabling fast, long-distance transportation. They also serve vital roles in disaster relief and medical transport, defence and making them crucial for emergency services

This is a beautiful area , if the airport reopens to be a cargo airport , the heavy cargo plane noise is so loud , it will kill this whole area. Not just the wildlife, but it’s another piece of beautiful uk lost .. have to go to Cornwall for the nearest equivalent .

The Spitfire Cafe serves excellent food at an affordable price. Definitely worth a visit specially with the free war museum Nextdoor. Baked potatoe with filling £8. Spitfire cheese burger and chips £12.

This is not an airport any more it's been derelict for years but a market has just started up, went there today and I must say it was quite good, I'm going to go again near Christmas time because I think it will be much better by then. There were burger stalls (2) and one other offering a different street food but I can't say exactly what it was, everything looked clean and ok to eat.

Went when it was raining. Good parking everywhere you need to go is on tarmac, no mud to contend with. It is a bit small but worth a look. Toilets are a bit of worry though.
