Athanasakio Archaeological Museum of Volos

History Museums
The Athanasakio Archaeological Museum of Volos, housed in an elegant neoclassical building, showcases ancient artifacts such as tombstones, gold jewelry, and statues spanning from the Stone Age to the Roman Era. Located in the vibrant city of Volos on the eastern coast of Greece, visitors can also enjoy its picturesque seaside promenade known as Argonauts Avenue and indulge in delicious seafood at welcoming taverns.
When you first walk into the museum you would naturally think it’s relatively old style with high ceilings and outside lighting through skylights and bright lamps that reflect of glass. Also white walls with hessian backings. These days lots of modern museums are dark with close LED lighting focused on the objects. However what you find is something very special. Many of the most important objects - mostly in the Neolithic section - are actually not behind glass at all. That gives the viewer a real close and personal contact with the objects. And the Neolithic objects are quite brilliant. A very important museum to visit.

The Archaeological Museum of Volos pleasantly surprised us. It offers a fascinating collection of tools, jewelry, and everyday objects, dating back as far as 5000 BC. It was truly exciting to see in real life what I used to read about in school textbooks. All the information is provided in both Greek and English, which makes the experience accessible and engaging. We arrived on a Saturday around 11 a.m. and were the only visitors for a while, which gave us the chance to explore everything at our own pace. After about 40 minutes, a school group arrived, which brought a different energy — it was nice to see kids learning about their history. Highly recommended for a calm, meaningful visit!

Nice little museum a bit out of the city centre of Volos. They have three different exhibitions: one detailing the palaeolithic and neolithic findings from Thessaly, one detailing burial customs and steles from ancient Demetrias, and one detailing the history of Volos. They have most signs in English, at least the ones describing the artifacts, but the informational signs in the Volos exhibition are only in Greek. Overall, the museum can be visited in less than an hour, especially in the morning when there are fewer visitors.
Jesper — Google review
Wasn’t expecting the extend of the exhibits. Great pottery collections. Need less than an hour. Building has been maintained inside and outside (garden needs some tlc), aircondition was working so was nice and cool inside. Paid EUR 10 entrance. Seems like entrance increased based on previous Google reviews.
Alex V — Google review
Anyone who loves Greek history and has the opportunity to visit this place is a must visit. There is a lot to see about the history not only of this place but also of the whole of Greece. My recommendation for this historical museum.
Nenad K — Google review
Nice little museum. Entrance is 10€. Easy to visit in an hour if you have some time to spare in Volos. Pity that most of the larger informational signs are only in Greek.
Robert R — Google review
I have very mixed feelings about this museum. On the one hand the exhibits are very good with interesting history and artifacts. There is a good amount of information available. It's a small museum but well put together. On the other hand, a lot of the information is only available in Greek. You can download a doc but it only gives an overview of the different exhibitions and a floor plan of the museum, nothing about individual objects. Having said that, I'm not sure that it's fair that non-Greek speakers must pay the same price or even more, and also at 10 Euro (29 Aug 2025), I feel they can really put in a little effort to also have everything in English too. There's supposedly some audio available that you can listen to for some things. But I asked the lady at reception and she said it's not working. Her English was very bad, so she might also have meant it's not available in English. So definitely make sure you take your phone with you and have an internet connection available so you can use Google Translate or a similar app to translate the various exhibit plaques.

The museum contains collections of Greek art. Neolithic objects, ceramics, jewelry etc...

Volos Port is a bustling and charming destination located on the eastern coast of Greece. Nestled between the azure waters of the Pagasetic Gulf and the lush slopes of Mount Pelion, it offers stunning natural beauty. The city serves as a gateway to the picturesque mountain villages of Pelion peninsula and nearby islands like Skiathos and Skopelos.
Staying with your boat by Aegean rental is a perfect idea! Christos is the best host and captain to support and help you. He is very friendly and always willing to help! This insource 3rd time we have been here!

A great place for walking along the ships and admiring sunsets from tavernas across the street. The city of Volos is quite nice, with local wonderful shops, churches, restaurants. The difficult part is to find a parking place out of the burning sun.
Iulia C — Google review
Very nice place next to center of the city. You can have a walk or going with your bike. Crowdy especially in summer where you can travel to the islands of Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonissos. Full of yachts as you can see in photos.

no shadow at all for the waiting people. The seajets kiosk is right at the end of the dock: you must reach the end of it to see it! No clear indications

The Port is a typical Industrial Port and the City is not nice. We have spend only around two hours ashore and went than again to our Cruise Ship...

Very nice... Cozy and neat! Be aware when a ship is coming or going there is a lot of traffic. Do park in designated parking areas, the fine is high... But the view is superb.

Anavros Park

Mentioned on
5 lists
City park
Anavros Park, located behind Agios Konstantinos and stretching all the way to Anavros beach, offers a serene escape with its open municipal strand and clear waters for swimming. The park's coastal location provides an unobstructed view of the sea, creating a soothing backdrop for relaxation. While the seating arrangements could be improved to fully capitalize on the scenic surroundings, visitors can still immerse themselves in natural beauty and coastal serenity.
Nestled beside the captivating seascape, the park offers a unique opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves in both natural beauty and coastal serenity. The unobstructed view of the sea is a remarkable highlight, providing a soothing backdrop for relaxation. However, the park's infrastructure could benefit from more thoughtfulness, as the seating arrangements lack optimal placement to fully capitalize on the scenic surroundings. Additionally, the absence of beach access or designated water-related activities seems like a missed opportunity to fully embrace the maritime setting. Including amenities like outdoor showers and picnic areas would make the park more functional and inviting. While the proximity to the sea is a clear advantage, refining the park's layout and incorporating beach-related features would enhance its allure and offer a more comprehensive seaside experience.
Γεώργιος Σ — Google review
Nice park to walk or just sit and look out over the water.
Benjamin H — Google review
A relatively beautiful park next to the sea and just a few minutes away from the city center. In the area you can find some art pieces scattered around the area. There is also a representation of a Neolithic settlement that you consider an extension of the adjacent Museum. Finally, the view towards the sea and towards the neighboring areas in Volos is quite impressive. Unfortunately, there is a lot of garbage, dirt in general, but also poorly written slogans and graffiti that give a general feeling of dirtiness. Although it could be one of the 'jewel' spots of Volos, the Municipality and the visitors still have a lot of work to do in this direction, mainly in terms of cleanliness but also the general architecture of the area (better use of greenery and more, better facilities for visitors).

Anavros Beach is a part of Anavros Park, located in Volos. It consists of 2-3 connected sandy beaches with clear water, making it suitable for swimming during the summer months. The beach offers amenities such as changing booths and showers, and one of the beaches even has a special construction for wheelchair access to the water. Visitors can enjoy snorkeling to see fish around the rocks near the peer. Additionally, there are restaurants and bars nearby offering good service at reasonable prices.
Clean, sandy beach. Crystal clear water. Perfect for swimmning. Showers and changing booths.SEATRAC system.

2-3 connected sand beaches, right in Volos; clean water and you can even see fish on and around the rocks of the peer (if snorkelling). All beaches have a changing booth as well as showers. On the middle one there’s even a special construction so that people in wheelchairs can enter the water! Found this super considerate and it’s the first place I’ve ever seen smth like this! In some areas in the back you can get a bit of shade by sheltering under the olive trees; Lots of terraces just on the beach, as well as a big parking.
Liana — Google review
A sandy small bea h offering few sunbeds and umbrellas if you buy something from the bar. I recommend it only if you wake up late.

Closest beach to Volos city centre. Not bad but not going to win best beach in Greece, but thats okay - water is a little merky. Would recommend for a quick stop. They have free umbrellas, showers, taps to clean feet and changing rooms (all free). Beach bar close by as well.

Nice beach area with very calm water for swimming.
Benjamin H — Google review
It's a Blue Flag Beach which means it should be better managed but other than having life guard and the beach being sandy, there's not much going on.The waves are strong and the water is not so clean.

I visited this beach in August 2023. That time of the year, water was very warm. As a person who likes cool/cold water for swimming, this beach wasn't satifying for me. Good thing about this is beach is that ehere are showers and shade under the trees.

Archaeological Site of Goritsa

Mentioned on

Historical landmark
The Archaeological Site of Goritsa, perched on a natural hill east of Volos, offers breathtaking views and a glimpse into ancient history. Standing at about 650 feet above sea level, visitors can explore the church of Zoodochos Pigi and discover an intriguing cave with inscriptions linked to the worship of Zeus. The site also features a lesser-known cemetery filled with box-shaped tombs that hints at the rich archaeological treasures yet to be uncovered in this area.
If you are touring the area, it’s about a 10-minute drive from the city, and it has the best view I have seen on the trip. It’s a must-see!

Kontos House - Museum of Theophilos

Mentioned on

Museum
Take a leisurely walk along the aged cobbled lane towards the central square, encompassed by traditional residences exhibiting stone tiled roofs and embellished window designs, situated on the incline of a steep hill. A typical Pelion dwelling comprises three levels; with lower floors fashioned from stone, featuring petite windows to ensure warmth during winter months, while an upper wooden floor boasts additional windows catering primarily to summer needs.
The museum is in a closed area and the entrance is a bit hidden to the garden. You will find a parking space when u arrive to the area while using Google map, than u go walk back and take the turn left and left again. We were not charged, but I regret not having left a tip to the guide who doesn't speak English but did his best to explain to us some of the things. Two important works in the lobby entrance and then it's up to the first floor where the beautiful restored works are! A third floor existed in the villa, but an earthquake just made the house loose this level. Ask kindly for pictures, and don't make them all public lately. The works are few and the visitors would love to be surprised!

Hiking Trails
Centaurs' Path is a popular hiking trail in Pelion, known for its ease and natural beauty. Legend has it that this path was once used by the mythical Centaurs to access east Pelion. The trail begins at the Adamena gate and offers stunning views of unique natural landscapes. It's a relatively easy hike, suitable for families with children, taking around 30 minutes to complete with stops for photos.
An amazing, peaceful, romantic place. Allows for an easy, easy hiking trail. There is a beautiful flow of water in the stream, small waterfalls, colorful butterflies. We spent a wonderful, shady, pleasant hour there. In short, a wonderful nature experience
‫צבי‬‎ — Google review
A beautiful place to visit but the path is just NOT there! If you feel a little adventurous (hiking over a what used to be a trail that is now destroyed by a flood that happened a couple of years ago), then feel free to visit! It's a pleasure to see but not what I expected. I visited on August 2025 with my wife and 7year old kid. After 45 minutes worth of walking and climbing we managed to get almost to the end but that last 70-100 meters were utterly destroyed so we couldn't finish it and reach the kiosk. Municipality needs to address this very soon to avoid further bad comments and even injured visitors.
Alexander M — Google review
We visited this spot in afternoon, with the sun going down. It is indeed majestic, but unfortunately i learned late that the path is partly destroyed by floods - there are still rocks that make a rather fun hike/climb, but the arrows showing the way were rather faded and we didn't risk going to the end of it, since it was getting dark. Hopefully some good people take up the work to repair the damage and make it accessable again. 🙏
Elza B — Google review
Go only if you enjoy ridden down and forgotten paths with bridges only serving as artifacts to be observed and not trodden on. You will be required to do some light climbing to get a better view of the eroded path beneath you. The forest is underwhelming but not as much as the summer-time stream, which is no more than one puddle lazily seeping into the next, I am guessing also due to the number of plastic tubes guiding the water to unknown locations. At the path's top point you will not be able to continue unless you really put some work into an unofficial steep incline, by the looks more meant for actual centaurs than people, only to be met by bulldozers and a construction site (which is not actually constructing anything path related or repairing the bridges or anything like that). At this point it will be time to arm yourself, the house close by has 2 large shepherd dogs not willing to negotiate. Good luck.
Anže K — Google review
A nice hike in the woods. The way is a bit messed up and not always clear where to go. Would probably recommend going to other hike in the area as there are hundreds of them.

Breathtaking views. Rays of sunlight between 80 shades green.... Little streams, huge rocks, wauw. The dogshad the time of their life.
Saskia T — Google review
The trail is very nice within the forest along the river canyon, however was destroyed by water flow so there are some obstacles to cross like broken wood bridges. We were able to make 90% of it with no much efforts (see picture) but stopped very close to the end / road to avoid massive gravel. A pitty that it is not handled by the authorities
Dror S — Google review
It's decrepit now, although it is still gorgeous. The path is also littered with logs from the flooding.

Mezen is a charming destination with a variety of dining options. The city offers gourmet sandwiches with Greek cheeses and cold cuts, as well as excellent cheesecake with organic jam at Climax. For well-roasted meats, the historic barbecue house of Adamou is a must-visit. Zen is known for its raki, ouzo, and outstanding seafood dishes, while Vosporos stands out as one of the best traditional restaurants in the city.
A little gastronomic gem where I had one of the best culinary experiences I've had in Greece lately. Quality service, tasty food. We served mainly fish and seafood, but also pork. We had 10 different appetizers for a total cost of about 100 euros, which I think is a fair price considering the quality of the food and the unique experience. I highly recommend it and I attach some nice pictures.
S C — Google review
We had 2 recommendations for here by locals, so I was bummed it was such a disappointment. For the area, it is EXPENSIVE and the portions are small. The flavour is what really matters though. Grilled octopus over grilled (read burnt) and over salted. Prawns tasted burnt and were very hard to peel which means they are not that fresh in the cooking world. Not worth the hassle or price. The dish we liked was the fried calamari- but for the price vs. the portion size, go somewhere else. Bread they served is a creative idea but dry. The location feels vibey and the staff were nice, but this place is overhyped. Also, wax paper is NOT NAPKINS.

We visited this restaurant with a group of six after seeing several positive recommendations online. The place is fairly small, though there are some additional tables outside. Overall, the food was delicious, though I found that certain portions—like the tuna—were on the smaller side. Unfortunately, the service left much to be desired. Even after we stacked our empty plates to make things easier for the staff, the waiters simply walked by multiple times without clearing them, despite the restaurant not being particularly busy at the time. Since we had ordered eight dishes in total, the lack of space became an issue. At one point, my uncle even had to fetch clean plates himself. In summary, the food is great, but the service was disappointing—I’d give it a 6 out of 10. Regardless of this, i still decided to give you a 4-star hoping the service will be better for future clients.

Delicious twist on classic greek dishes. What a fantastic little Tsipouro of Volos. We shared five small plates, one better than the next with the taste of squid wrapped im lamb and grilled. Or tabouleh salad with shrimp bacon. A find down a quiet alley off the church square.

Maybe the best tsipouradiko in Volos. All the plates for tsipouro are really tasteful. The place is small and doesn’t accept reservations. Its better to go there during weekdays instead of the weekend. Prices are a bit higher than the rest of tsipouradika in Volos buy it worths the visit. Totally recommend!

Nice place for meze which are prepared in a bit modern way. The squid, the fried manti and the potatoes with cheese were superb, keftedes had a good taste but were a bit dry. That was the only flaw though.

Small plates restaurant
Demiris Traditional Tsipouro Restaurant is a long-standing establishment in the old Greek refugee neighborhood of Nea Ionia, offering a cozy and unpretentious atmosphere. The restaurant has been serving quality seafood meze for over thirty years, attracting a diverse crowd. It is known for its fresh seafood options and excellent tsipouro, with the owner often providing complimentary drinks while guests wait.
An excellent experience from the first sip of tsipouro to the last forkful of halva at the end. In between, we were served some things we hadn't encountered before in our (admittedly limited) experience of tsipouradika, including a delicious little black-eyed pea salad served with marinated anchovies, and an unfamiliar shellfish we were told was called καλόγνωμη—we Googled it, and it's Noah's Ark shell in English. It reminded us of eating barnacles in the Azores—a delicious little taste of the sea. If you're in Volos, put this place near the top of the long list of excellent tsipouradika you must visit. Sit back and wait for the next delicious surprise.

My favorite Tsipouradiko, everyone has one here in Volos of course there are too many to be honest to have just one favourite but I am in love with shellfish and if you reading this and also like em clammy friends you should definitely try and visit this since it's probably the only one you can get such a collection served as mezedes, gonna write it in Greek cause I can't Google all them names in English, you can find depending on the time of year any or all of the bellow, mydia, kalognomes, fouskes, kydonia, gialisteres, streidia, axinous, streidoxtena and more! Also a very large collection of bottled tsipoura available here but I usually get the bulk variety which is rly good. Enjoy!

Traditional cusine. Good prices and tasy food. A restaurant for locals not for turists.

Tsipouradiko with very inviting owner (served us tsipouro on the house while we were waiting), good service, fresh seafood, many options for raw seafood, excellent scallops (xtenia) and mostly fried meze. Equally good to Giwtas and Giannas tsipouradiko in central Volos but also open on Sundays.

Sogno di San is an authentic Italian restaurant located in the charming neighborhood of Palia. The cozy backyard provides a peaceful atmosphere to enjoy traditional Italian cuisine, including delicious pasta and pizza. Owned by the free-spirited traveler Santina Castiglione, the restaurant resonates with authentic flavors and a welcoming ambiance. Visitors praise the excellent food, particularly highlighting the best pizza and pasta in the area.
Traditional Italian Trattoria with variety of pasta and pizza choices. Very cozy. We loved the carbonara. Aglio e oglio was nice but the pecorino didn’t match much. Will try next time without the cheese. 🧀 would definitely visit again

The pizza was amazing!! The pasta options on the menu, most of them had cream. Which is crazy weird for an Italian restaurant. So, an Italian restaurant with non Italian pasta. And the staff looked like they were forced to be there. Not a smile. Angry looking people.

Average taste food, a bit pricy, not so clean environment

One of the best pizza in Volos))) but pasta even tastier!!!
Julia P — Google review
Positive side - The salads were very fresh and well done. Its a nice place with a good vibe. Negative side - dont sit on the benches if you are not 16 years old.... For a long dinner, it will just "kill" your back... The spaghetti was too salty for most of us and the pizza was good but not more than that.

Fantastic Italian restaurant! My favourite kind of pizza with super thin dough. Also I would say that all of the ingredients taste authentic Italian. The pizzas are really big - impossible to eat whole one 🫶

Kavouras, the oldest tsipouradiko in the city center, has been delighting patrons for over 70 years. This charming eatery specializes in charcoal-grilled dishes and embers-cooked potatoes, creating a unique dining experience that is both authentic and lively. The atmosphere is bustling and vibrant, often filled with locals enjoying their meals amidst the sounds of laughter and conversation.
A place for Ouzo & Tsipouro where you get small bites as company. We didn't drink but we ate. They were a bit surprised for not drinking... But the food was super, nice small bites, mostly seafood. Simpele but very tasty. Funny & raw service. Full with locals in a narrow alley. I would say go and have the local experience.

Thought I would try this place whilst waiting for the ferry to skiathos - small, local seafood dishes all extremely tasty and with the local tsiporou - fixed menu at a great price. Friendly service and easy to engage with other diners.

A great local spot! Came as a hungry family of 7, almost at closing time but were greeted with a warm smile, great chipuro and a non ending stream of delicious local plates of veggies, seafood, sausages, garlic paste. Ending up with a very small tab. Highly recommended!!
David G — Google review
It was hard to review this because it depends what you are looking for. Probably one of the most authentic places, busy, noisy, people smoking indoors are just some aspects but food comes good and aplenty with the drinks you order (and they refill). Mostly for seafood lovers and anyone in search of something out of the ordinary - not great for veggie/vegan options but there are a couple of bits.

Superb, authentic tsipouradiko. Order tsipouro (like ouzo but more like grapa or marc de champagne) - meze follows, a new selection of dishes for each round of drinks. Or - order dishes a la carte.

The service is attentive and the food comes out quickly and delicious. It's known for offering great value, where a few plates of meze and small bottles of tsipouro are reasonably priced.

One of the oldest “Tsipouradika” in Volos. The quality of the food is always the same. Its not the best you can find but you will not leave the place unsatisfied. The quantity of the plates is more than satisfied. If your goal is to taste tsipouro with lots of food its the perfect choice. If you need something different tou should look the choices near the port. Nevertheless “Bokos” will be always a safe choice if you are not sure where to go.

Lola & Luna, a charming and intimate eatery, boasts a delightful ambiance that adds to the enjoyment of their exceptional cuisine. This family-owned restaurant offers an impressive menu with an array of delectable options. The staff is not only accommodating and friendly but also provides impeccable service. Their attention to detail ensures a flawless dining experience for every guest. The food itself is nothing short of outstanding, with dishes carefully crafted using high-quality ingredients.
Tucked away in the city, Lola e Luna is a true family affair, where the love for Italian cuisine is as palpable as the aromas wafting from the kitchen. This family-owned gem delivers an authentic Italian dining experience that makes you feel like you’re dining in the heart of Bologna. We dined there as a party of six, celebrating my father's birthday, and we sampled a range of dishes. Each plate was a masterpiece, clearly crafted with recipes passed down through generations. The ingredients were fresh, the flavors were bold, and the passion behind the cooking was undeniable. The service mirrored the food—warm, welcoming, and unmistakably familial. It felt less like dining out and more like being invited to a family feast. Even the desserts, particularly the ethereal tiramisu made with imported ingredients straight from Italy, left us swooning. The only surprise of the evening was the bill. Given the exceptional quality of the food, the prices were shockingly reasonable—almost too good to be true. Lola e Luna is a reminder that true culinary excellence doesn’t have to break the bank; sometimes, it’s simply about a family doing what they love, and doing it extraordinarily well.

Top !!! Never ate as well in Italy. Ossobuco was a dream. House red wine was excellent even though it was served cold…which Is wrong. Service was outstanding. Marilena -classy, refined, helpful . La Marimba is the sole Mexican eatery in Greece, presenting a blend of Greek and Mexican cuisine. While some may dub it a Greek-Mexican fusion, the lack of spiciness in their authentic Mexican dishes disappointed certain patrons. Nevertheless, the overall flavors were satisfactory. The establishment boasts an appealing location and has received positive reviews from frequent visitors who have sampled all the offerings without any grievances to note. The service is courteous and efficient, with reasonable prices to boot.
La Marimba has an amazing ambiance, beautifully designed with a fun, lively vibe that makes it perfect for a night out. The drinks were pretty good, and the food was absolutely delicious, easily the highlight of the night. Every dish we tried was full of flavor and clearly made with care. Highly recommended!

Cozy Mexican restaurant located at the east part of Volos. A lot of traditional Mexican dishes with spicy ingredients. You should ask first and then order, to be safe. Also, the garnish in evey plate is repetitve. Prices a bit high but the atmosphere of the place is incomparable. I recommend you order Quesadillas and Chicken a la Carribbean if you want a "mild" experience. If you go for the spicy ones, choose chicken tortillas and tacos.

Except the fried fish which was excellent, everything else was bellow standard, especially the mussels was uncleaned (you can see the pictures) which gave very bad taste. everything else was blunt tasting and the retsina was undrinkable
Timos P — Google review
The quality of the food has dropped significantly compared to previous years and status. I don't think that anything is fresh anymore. Most of the nice plates have been replaced with cheaper versions. (For example the potato salad has been replaced with an oven potato 😞 or the fresh octopus tentacle has been replaced with canned pieces. The variety and taste of the appetizer (μεζέδες) plates that accompany the tsipouro have become poor. And, honestly the after-effects experienced in the restroom are enough to make one never want to visit again.

No receipt ! Thieves! They charge us additionally the free coming plates with tsipouro because the 'longhair as@&#*le behind the counter' thought we are from Athens! and we don't know that with a small bottle of tsipouro worth 7-9 euros they also bring at least two plates of "meze" for free. Λυςη ανάγκης οταν τα αλλα ειναι γεμάτα. Average food

Ok, this is one of the best known "tsipouradika" in Volos, from what I heard. Well, they don't live up to their reputation. Today, my husband and I chose this specific spot to have some decent seafood and tsipouro. The place was in complete chaos when we arrived there. Nobody was there to lead us to a table. After waiting in line for about 15 minutes, I decided to go and ask one of the staff. I saw a lady, the cashier from what I understood, and asked her how long it would be for a table, she just raised her shoulders in an "I don't know!" type of attitude. To make the long story short, we found a table, waited for another hour 'til we were served, the waiter handed us four small-sized "mezethes" and two servings (50ml) of tsipouro, paid about 50(!!) euro for practically NOTHING, and meanwhile in a completely chaotic environment. Never again!!

Skiathos International Airport Alexandros Papadiamantis

International airport
Airport
Skiathos International Airport Alexandros Papadiamantis is situated on the picturesque island of Skiathos, part of the Sporades group in Greece. The island boasts stunning sandy beaches like Koukounaries and clear blue waters, making it a popular tourist destination. Most accommodations and dining options are concentrated along the south coast near Skiathos Town, the capital. The airport is conveniently located about 1.
Airport is so small but so efficient, very clean and toilets spotless. Getting through arrivals and departures so quick definitely a bonus. Just outside airport at start/end of runway, you can get some awesome pictures or video of takeoff and landings. 😁👋👨‍✈️✈️🛩🛫🛬
Michelle B — Google review
The airport is quite small and compact, which makes orientation easier. The security checks were somewhat unusual and seemed a bit unstructured. Drinks and food are extremely expensive, which makes the stay less pleasant. Nevertheless, it departures are very punctual, which is a positive aspect. Since I only traveled with hand luggage, I cannot judge the luggage storage. The staff appeared friendly but overwhelmed, despite the low passenger numbers on site.
Daniel M — Google review
Very quick, no non-sense service. Amazing location! Spectacular views of the runway. People standing just outside the end of the runway to watch landings and take-offs...
Mihai N — Google review
Cute, small, does the job right, also a great attraction at the island. Most importantly - can be reached on foot. Perhaps a better walkway would be a good idea.
Marin K — Google review
It is a very small Airport, so if you have to stay some time here it will be boring. The only „restaurant“ is overpriced and doesn’t offer much and there is a bakery. The Lady at the Information Center was very unhelpful when we where asking if she knows were to find a certain rental company she said just wait outside. We got some help when we asked an employee of another Rental Company (Hertz) he knew a guy from our company and called him. All in all most of the AirPort Personal was very friendly and helpful, the toilets were very clean, the girl at the duty free gave a lot of information to the products they were selling. Definitely one of the better Airports i spent time on till now. Close to the AirPort there is a Street between the water and the landingstrip, where the Planes go over very low, as you can see in one of my Videos
Niklas W — Google review
Luggage drop off and security was quite quick and well organised, but that was the only good thing about the airport. After that, the place was packed. Not enough chairs so plenty of people were stood up. Big queues for all the shops and toilets. Not sure about the downstairs one, but the gents' toilet upstairs only had two cubicles and no urinals, which didn't help the queue! It's the most expensive airport I've ever been to. A medium sized bottle of water was €6.30 - although after buying at the cafe downstairs I spotted it for the bargain price of €4, upstairs in duty free. There is nowhere to fill up your own bottle. They'd got everyone onto our plane well over an hour before takeoff, so we got to sit around on the hot cramped plane for some extra time. Looking at other reviews, it seems this is quite common at this airport, potentially due to the fact that there's just not room in the terminal for everyone.
Stanley D — Google review
This was the worst Ryanair staff I have ever experienced on any airport. The charged so many people who have already paid priority cabin luggage for additional 75 euros because the woman overseeing it thought the luggage doesn’t fit into their stand. All of the charged luggages were perfectly fine, looked like the one someone posted on earlier review, there might have been just a 0.5cm in front because of the curvature of the suitcase but no, they thought they could bully us all into paying more and more fees. I’ve read somewhere that they’ll get higher bonuses now for this, I guess it’s in place already from what I’ve seen there. Absolute shame to those people. To everyone flying from there: get ready to be bullied, even though your suitcase might be fine on a way there, they might think otherwise and not care at all about what you think.
Anna N — Google review
Arbitrary checks for things. Your bag one micron beyond an outdated Ryanair dimension policy and it’s 75 eur, enjoy your flight. A perfect end to a fantastic vacation. I recommend checking in all your baggage to save your nerves. But then you might be fined for smiling wrong.

Small provincial airport. Its location is very convenient for central Greece or for those who travel to Sporades islands (Alonnisos, Skiathos, Skopelos). Very few companies use this airport. Airport traffic is 3-4 flights per day at most. From England there is only easyjet flight from Gatwick every Wednesday and Saturday
