Paignton Zoo Environmental Park, located in Devon, is a thrilling visitor attraction spread across 80 acres. It houses over 2,500 animals from various habitats such as the savannah, wetlands, and tropical forests. Visitors can get up close to rare species and learn about the zoo's conservation efforts. The park offers a unique Jungle Express train ride and play areas for children. It's an ideal destination for families to spend an entire day exploring and experiencing wildlife wonders from around the world.
Me and my family really enjoyed our day here. Definitely enough animals to make a day out for the family. My kids loved the seeing all the animals but the giraffes, crocodiles and monkey's definitely stood out for us. Maps need updating for toilets as we found some in a different area than listed. Enjoyed the play areas, food areas and a little win a teddy section. Also enjoyed a lovely icecream. Would recommend!

Visited here midweek during the late August bank holiday break in Paignton. We booked in advanced and got a slight discount was around £60 odd pounds for a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children). The site is huge and is a lot of up and down hill so wear comfortable shoes and prepare to walk. There are loads of animals, cafes, play areas for kids to enjoy and they really had a blast. We were tired by the end but was a great family day out, would recommend you visit here if you in or near to Paignton.
David K — Google review
A great zoo with a large verity of animals a few of which wasn’t out for you to see but it wasn’t a massive issue. You can see some of the animals quite close up like the orangutans, lions, cheetahs, baboons etc. There is a lot of inclines if you’re someone with mobility issues you may struggle but it is well worth the money you pay to get in. There is a lot of tree coverage so you’re not baking in the sun while walking around. Would definitely recommend
Amie P — Google review
Amazing zoo with fantastic staff. My 2 daughters ages 8 and 13 recently had a junior zoo keeper experience and they loved every minute of it. Jake, their experience guide was extremely knowledgeable, patient, kind and kept the girls engrossed for hours! Thank you Jake for a wonderful experience for the whole family!
Claire M — Google review
We went on a cold damp drizzly day, so some animals weren't outside to see. Im disabled on a mobility scooter. Most of the park is accessible and robust scooters can be hired at the zoo. We were given a map and advised on the best route for mobility scooters. We ate food in the resaraunt. Food was good quality. The only fault was tables weren't cleaned so quickly so hard finding a clean table. We only had half a day here, so we zoomed round. On a nicer day and a leisurely stroll round, you coukd easily spend a whole day here. Animals get fed at certain times, so if you wish to see this, ask at entrance the timings, then you can adjust your route accordingly. We were particularly fascinated with the sloths. Never seen one in real life before, they are fun to watch. I would reccomend a visit, help support this lovely zoo to stay open.
Kelly H — Google review
A great day out, just enough to cover in an afternoon, with not too far between each area. A lovely range of animals of all kinds with good size enclosures for them. Lots of information available at each area. Food and drink onsite is great with a number of choices available. We stopped into the cafe area as the other ones around the zoo are closed out of high season.
Michelle F — Google review
A beautifully naturalistic zoo with incredibly friendly and attentive staff throughout — from the keepers to the café team, everyone made us feel welcome. My daughters had an absolute blast, and to top it off, the food and drink were reasonably priced, which was a pleasant surprise. A genuinely lovely day out.
Darren W — Google review
Lovely zoo animals are in large enclosures. Unfortunately some of the areas were closed when we went but not the main ones. The menu was slightly limited and if you are getting food please allow more time then you would expect for quing as the que moves slowly.

Water park
Water & Amusement Parks
Theme park
Splashdown Quaywest Waterpark in Paignton is a thrilling destination for visitors of all ages. The park offers a variety of water slides, pools, and activities to keep the whole family entertained. From high-speed drop thrills to rubber ring rapids, there's something for everyone. Younger children can enjoy the Submarine Adventure area with smaller slides and a toddler pool.
Great day out. 10 and 12 year old had a blast. Did the devil's drop! Gets busy and you need to queue to get a ring or mat which you need to have to do most of the rides. There is a swimming pool which is great to warm up in. Can get cold being outdoors even in July, so having a swim top to stay warm helps.
Timothy C — Google review
We have visited your park on Saturday with 2 children(6 & 8yrs ) and I must say we had an enjoyable time overall and really love the new Splash area for kids. The splashing buckets and slides were perfect for our kids ages and we spent all of our 4 hours there. However I was genuinely shocked and concerned by the lack of safety enforcement on the water slides. There was no staff monitoring whether riders had cleared the slide before the next person was allowed on. Staff (teenagers) was stood at few slides but were there for show and did absolutely nothing. It was essentially a free-for-all. I personally witnessed multiple dangerous incidents, including one where an adult with a child on their lap crashed at full speed into another adult who was just standing up to exit the slide, also with a child. The adult fell backwards, and the child was hurt in the process. Alarming scenes like this occurred several times during the four hours we were there. I found myself having to check whether the person in front of me had exited the slide before going down, but there was nothing in place to prevent someone behind us from coming down too soon and crashing into us. Which has happened to my husband with our daughter in his lap. This lack of oversight is unacceptable and dangerous. Your staff urgently need proper training in guest safety and slide operations. We’ve visited many water parks (Florida, Dubai etc) and never encountered such a disregard for basic safety protocols.
Michaela W — Google review
Well what a great place. Very clean even though sea gulls do half the work. At 80 quid for a family of 4 for 3 hours I thought a bit expensive but once your on the slides you'll forget all about it. But great place even for little ones and in all in house fenced off, toilets, car park, lockers, food, disabled lift The lockers even give your 20p back Food was even on the cheap side for this part of country The shop also sells wetsuits if you get cold Beware the seagulls when eating they will come
Ashley W — Google review
Why liked it- Visited on a sunny day, fantastic location right next to the beautiful beach, definitely worth buying All day tickets for £30 each especially if weather is nice and it's busy you don't feel rushed and can actually enjoy the park properly all day. Queues were OK, looks long but it goes quite fast. Plenty of sunbeds and lockers but I would recommend to get one outside on the top, nice and easy and dry access to your belongings with changing rooms right next to it. Upstairs toilets and restaurant were never busy, offering burgers, chips, hot dogs, drinks very reasonably priced. Overall we had a fantastic time here. What we didn't like/ Downsides - litterarly no road signs to lead your way there- if we didn't have GPS no chance we would find this place, we are 5h away and stayed in Ladram Bay holiday park which is only 1h from Splashdown but even from there zero signs which way to go, thanks for technology! -parking is extra £11 for all day - no swimming pool for adults or swimmers, just one extra small crowded pool -metal stairs to the rides lacking a fresh paint to cover the rust -overall cleanliness could be better Looks like site is expanding tho as one part was undergoing some building works.

Fab place! The sunshine definitely helped but felt more sunny European Waterpark than the UK! My boss loved it - doesn't 4 very happy hours going on ask the rides whilst we had a drier time enjoying the (reasonable priced) snacks and drinks! Would recommend to any water ride thrill seekers!
Cara S — Google review
Wow, what an amazing place! We booked our tickets for the 10:15 slot...didn't have any wait to enter, was quick and easy and there was barely any wait to use any of the slides! Kids had a great time and there's stuff there to do for everyone.
Emily M — Google review
Great fun for all the family. The place was well maintained and there was enough to do to keep the kids occupied for 2 or 3 hours. The queues weren't to bad and there are different levels of slides for everybody. The changing rooms are pretty good and clean enough which considering the number of people using them is quite impressive.
Paul O — Google review
Oh my goodness, where do I even begin?! We just had the most incredible day at Splashdown Quaywest, and I'm still buzzing from all the fun! It's truly the UK's BIGGEST outdoor waterpark, and it absolutely lives up to the hype. As a family of four, with our energetic 7-year-old Bodhi Honey (who has Autism and ADHD) and our adventurous 4-year-old, we were a little unsure what to expect, but it exceeded all our hopes. It's truly a place where summer dreams come true for families! First off, a massive tip: definitely wear wetsuits! We heard this recommendation and it was a game-changer. Even though it was a bright day, the wetsuits kept us perfectly warm and comfortable, allowing us to stay in the water for hours without a shiver. This was especially great for Bodhi Honey, as staying warm helps make the whole experience more enjoyable. What I loved most was the sheer variety of ways to experience the slides. We weren't just limited to one type of ride – we could choose to go on a body slide, grab a mat for head-first thrills, or jump on a tyre for a more relaxed (but still exciting!) journey. We literally did them all, and it felt like a different adventure each time! Both Bodhi Honey and our 4-year-old loved the different sensations. We started by conquering some of the quicker, more intense slides. The Screamer was an absolute blast – true to its name, it's a short, sharp burst of speed that leaves you breathless and giggling. And the Wild Kamikaze? Oh wow, that one really gets your heart pumping with its three steep drops! Both kids were absolute troopers on these, though the Wild Kamikaze definitely isn't for the faint-hearted! We weren't quite brave enough to face the legendary Devil's Drop this time (it looks intense!), but it gives us something to aim for on our next visit. The tyre rides were a fantastic experience for the whole family. The Raging Rapids had us spiraling and spinning through twists and turns, with a wonderfully bumpy finish. Bodhi Honey particularly enjoyed the unexpected splashes. And the Surf Lagoon was a classic serpentine ride with plenty of twists and turns that really gave us a good tumble. It was so much fun to ride together and hear everyone's laughter. The mat rides, like the Sidewinder and Corkscrew, were also fantastic. The Sidewinder had us weaving through open and closed tubes, giving you glimpses of the sky before diving back into darkness – such a thrill! And the Corkscrew, despite its "shallow descent," definitely left us in a spin with its 360-degree turns. For a slightly gentler introduction, the Wet and Wild was perfect – still lots of twists and turns, but a great way to warm up to the bigger slides. Our 4-year-old, being just over 1m, was able to join in on so many of these and his excitement was infectious! When it was time for a break, Captain Lewey's Shipwreck Island was our go-to spot. It's such a vibrant and fun area, and it's surrounded by plenty of seating and sunbathing terraces, so we could really relax and soak up the atmosphere. We grabbed a hot food and drinks meal deal from Captain Lewey's for £8.95, and it was delicious and surprisingly good value. Plus, it's only a short walk from the toilets, showers, and changing rooms, which made life super easy. Just a quick heads-up: remember to bring a 20p coin for the lockers! It's important to note that for the main waterpark, riders need to be at least 1m tall and confident around water. Our kids fit the bill perfectly, and it meant they could enjoy almost everything the park had to offer. There's also a 20m long swimming pool in the heart of the park, which is 1.2m deep – perfect for a refreshing dip or just chilling out after all the excitement. Honestly, we had such a fantastic day filled with laughter, splashes, and unforgettable moments. Seeing Bodhi Honey so happy and engaged, and our 4-year-old so confidently tackling the slides, made it truly special. Splashdown Quaywest truly provides a brilliant day out for families. We're already planning our return trip!

Fantastic dog walking beach.
Malcolm P — Google review
Could be lovely but too busy when sunny. One beach has too many dogs and the other has too many people. Good beach for children as there is lots of sand and the beach shelves very gently so is nice and safe. No good eating places. Very much a cheap? And cheerful place but not for me
Outside B — Google review
We had a fabulous couple of visits to this beach on our holiday, it's great for soaking up the sun & our son loved making a sandcastle & having a splash in the sea. It's close to a large water park, a pub, shops & small eateries. Well worth a visit. 👍🏖

Great beach with one end being dog friendly all year round
Dene G — Google review
A good hotel Premier Inn ,right on the beach ,which our room has a good view off .
Gillian C — Google review
Lovely beach with a good measure of sand and rock pools. The coffee/burger place next to the waterpark on the seafront was really overpriced given the awful food on sale. I don't generally expect a lot but this was not nice. The ice cream place was lovely though 😋There is another place on the opposite end of the beach that looked much better (not tried it yet). Beach is very clean and family friendly, toilets are good, 30p a wee 😄
Emma-Jane S — Google review
Only went at night so can't say much for the scenery 🤣 but it was a lovely quiet beach for a dog walk and was great for using the longlines. Easy access from the carpark . Overall really enjoyed

Paignton Pier

Amusement center
Sights & Landmarks
Paignton Pier is a classic British seaside attraction that has been welcoming visitors since 1879. This family-friendly entertainment complex offers a variety of activities, including tenpin bowling, fairground rides, crazy golf, and a cafe. The pier features traditional amusement arcades with games for all ages and even has a Jurassic Park themed crazy golf course. Visitors can enjoy stunning views along the seafront during the day and experience the pier's neon lights reflected in the water at night.
The pier is quite long but it's all covered with games and fun. It all looks nice, but everything is old and not everything works or doesn't accept money. There's a nice golf course at the end of the pier. There are also takeaways here. You can always come and have fun with your family.😀😀😀
ThisIsMexD — Google review
The pier itself is lovely and the views off the end are well worth the walk. My issue was with the arcades,it was quite obvious that the games are all rigged not to pay out. I've never played a 2p machine that literally didn't drop a single coin. It's a real shame because the place is well looked after and could easily be a nice place to spend an hour if they weren't cheating people.
Paul O — Google review
Very clean and tidy pier all the kiosks and children's rides looked new! The 2p arcade was fun and again very clean. At the end of the pier is a crazy golf Jurassic Park with dinosaurs. Great fun for all the family and great photo opportunities.
Sue R — Google review
It was one of the best piers we've been on. There was so much for families to do same applied to paignton, we really enjoyed our visit.from the moment we stepped on the pier there were food kiosks then game stalls and amusements up to you get to a crazy golf at the e d, non stop fun for the kids, non stop pay out for mum and dad but if you get a bad day it's really good
Jane A — Google review
This is such a lovely retro day out. We spent several hours here. So many lovely retro games. The payout machines are definitely rigged (claw machines, 2p machines etc), but this is expected. We have fun on them regardless. There are lots of lovely photo opportunities, and the view is quite beautiful at the end of the pier. We didn't play the golf but it looked like fun. They have the traditional carnival snacks as well which is nice. We will definitely come again.
Lisa P — Google review
Nice pier, with lots of Amusements and a mini golf course at the end. Watch out for the dinos though. Great views of the bay and beach.
David S — Google review
Busy pier in Paignton, crazy dinosaur golf at far end, loads of amusement machines and few eateries along the stretch out to sea. Ticket collection machines to purchase prizes later, coin push machines to win all sorts. The usual crane grab machines that always drop prizes lol. Could spend a fortune in there with kids.
Darren C — Google review
The pier is very clean and tidy with an lots of new and old machines in which is good then only thing is as soon as you leave the pusher or grab machine the staff open it up and move the prizes back so u spend more more to win them

Paignton Beach is a charming spot on the English Riviera that offers a classic seaside experience with plenty to enjoy for all ages. The sandy shoreline is wide and inviting, making it perfect for sunbathing, beach games, or a relaxing stroll by the water. The nearby Paignton Pier adds a nostalgic touch, with arcades, food stalls, and traditional amusements that bring the holiday spirit alive. The beach is conveniently located near the town centre and train station, with easy access to shops, cafés, and family attractions. While it can get quite busy during peak summer months and parking may be limited, the overall atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Whether you're visiting for a day or staying longer, Paignton Beach offers a delightful mix of relaxation and fun by the sea.

The beach is large, but not entirely sandy because it's full of rocks. Right next to it is a large pier with games, activities, and a place to eat. Parking is right by the beach. Next to the beach are beautiful red cliffs that are worth a look.😀😀
ThisIsMexD — Google review
Lovely beach, family and kids friendly fun. Sandy beach with hardly any rocks or stones and when tide is out lots of shallow water for small ones but also paddle boarding and boogie boarding or snorkelling etc. Would recommend coming out early in the day to get a spot in the summer months. Lots of food trucks around the area all along the beach from pizza to coffee and ice cream etc.

Enjoyable place. Games and foodie,😍👌I recently had the chance to spend some time in Paignton, and it was a truly enjoyable experience that I’m happy to share. From the moment I arrived, the town had such a welcoming atmosphere. The seafront is charming, with its traditional pier, colorful beach huts, and wide sandy beach that immediately sets the mood for a relaxing getaway. Whether walking along the promenade or just sitting by the shore, the views of the bay are absolutely beautiful, especially on a clear day when the water sparkles. Immu loving

Paignton Harbour is a charming maritime spot located just a short stroll from the town center. Visitors can delight in observing the bustling nautical activities amidst the picturesque surroundings. The area is dotted with several dining options, providing ample opportunities for refreshments. As Paignton Harbour is affected by tides, its ambiance constantly evolves throughout the day. Recent years have witnessed significant transformations in various establishments around the harbor, enhancing its appeal.
A lovely quaint little harbour. Nice little selection of shops, restaurants etc some of which look right over the water with stunning views. There is even a fresh fish shop tucked away selling an amazing selection of all the fish you could want. My favourite bit is if you get bored of the harbour view of boats just sit on the wall on left and you look over miles of coastline. So you have the choice of both. It has a small market in a Sunday as well. If you want somewhere a little more peaceful then you'll love it here.

Love this old fishing hair with a brilliant pub right on the quayside. Paignton is a wonderful place for families with gorgeous beaches, outdoor play park, there's something for everyone my only negative is the toilets near the Pier, 30p entry (which I don't mind) but they are the filthiest, stinking toilets I have ever seen, I was waiting for the creature of the deep to jump out of the brown minging water and bite my behind.

Visitors can explore the coastline connected to Torbay via the South West Coast Path, discovering lesser-known coves like Elberry Cove and Oyster Cove.
Beautiful beach with great views towards Torquay. Lovely place for a stroll or a coffee and a bite to eat at one of the two cafes.

A beautiful and peaceful spot that’s perfect for a relaxing day out by the sea. With its wide sandy shoreline, calm waters, and surrounding greenery, it offers a scenic escape that’s especially great for families, couples, or anyone wanting to enjoy some quiet time by the coast. The beach is ideal for paddleboarding, kayaking, and even exploring the rock pools when the tide’s low. There’s a lovely promenade lined with colourful beach huts, and nearby parkland makes it great for picnics or casual games. Facilities are well maintained, with toilets, showers, cafés, and even deckchair and boat hire available during the season. The car park and bike racks are conveniently close, and there’s a gentle slope leading to the beach, although access to the sand itself involves some steps. It’s also worth noting that dogs aren’t allowed on the main beach between May and September, but there is a nearby dog-friendly section. All in all, Broadsands is a charming, clean, and well-equipped beach that’s well worth visiting if you're in the Torbay area.

Big car park easy access to prom and cafes. Steps down to the beach. A wide beach, pretty flat for walking, not much beach when high tide but water goes out a long way at low tide. Safe bathing but no lifeguards. Grass area behind the beach huts great for picnics or games.
Martin W — Google review
Visited here during the August bank holiday late afternoon (sunset) was lovely the beach is small but loads of parking uses the RingGo app. Loads of seaweed but the kids loved it building a wall of seaweed!! Loads of skimming stones which I enjoyed! Really peaceful and beautiful! Couple of cafes either side didn't visit these but very handy!
David K — Google review
Lovely beach, two good food outlets and a place to hire deckchairs etc. Lovely and flat, so when the tide is out ideal for kids. Some of the locals are a bit precious, questioned where we were from and whether we would feed the seagulls.

Museums
Torre Abbey, established in 1196, offers a fascinating journey through 800 years of history within its historic building and 7-acre gardens. The site showcases the life of a medieval monastery, its dissolution by Henry VIII, and its transformation into a museum and art gallery. The collection includes over 600 works from the 18th century to the present day, featuring pieces by renowned artists such as Holman Hunt and Burne-Jones.
Hidden gem in Torquay, I was looking up things to do near by our hotel (premier inn on the seafront) and this was basically right next door so decided to visit. Beautiful building with an interesting history and so many interesting art pieces and places to explore. Was pretty reasonably priced to get in, especially considering how much there was to explore. Giftshop was also lovely with some lovely handmade pieces and plants available to buy that they grew on site :)

Good place to spend a couple of hours. Enjoyed the history, the Abbey story , art exhibition and Georgian dining room. Take note of the gates as you enter with the swans on top , you'll learn about these inside. Cafe , toilets and lift on the premises so accessible to all. Oh and beautiful gardens to sit and relax in.

It's a beautiful historic site with plenty to look at. Inside there are several floors with art, antiques and information galore. Outside in the gardens the scenery is stunning, the flowers were colourful and fragrant. I could happily spend the whole day exploring the site. There is lots to look at and explore.

Really lovely experience - the staff were friendly, the curation was interesting and innovative + had a genuine feeling of exploration (as it’s all a bit windy and topsy tervy). Liked the element of having actors on the top floor history section + the moving dinner table characters. Felt really thoughtful - A couple things were out of order but appreciated the space all the same - would definitely go back. Did try to strategically avoid the school group as a bit raucous but don’t begrudge kids learning aha

Hidden gem in Torquay — don’t miss it! Absolutely loved our visit to Torre Abbey! The whole place has such a unique mix of history, art, and odd charm. The poison garden was a total highlight — eerie, fascinating, and full of surprises. You don’t often see that in historic sites. We ended up spending way longer there than expected, reading all the signs and spotting deadly plants! The art gallery upstairs was another treat — a great mix of historic and contemporary pieces, all beautifully displayed. It feels like a proper cultural space, not just an afterthought. Friendly staff, peaceful atmosphere, and lots of quiet corners to explore. Highly recommend if you’re in Torquay and want something that’s not just beaches and fish & chips.

10% of for visitors staying at any of the TLH hotels. Each art piece was perfectly curated and looked stunning. The gardens were delightful even on a grey day. Staff were friendly and helpful. You are more than welcome to use the images. 🙂

Evocative abbey ruins, beautiful gardens, a 17th century mansion filled with art treasures - there was so much of interest to discover here, and it was only five minutes walk from my hotel! I spent about three and a half hours here, but could easily have stayed longer. The staff were friendly and welcoming, especially the young lady in the gift shop who greeted me and explained what there was to see and where to find it. I visited the abbey ruins first; they date from 1196, and have an impressive gateway with detailed stone carvings. There are info boards that let you know which part of the original medieval abbey you're standing in. I loved strolling around the gardens; their well-kept borders were filled with exotic plants and colourful dahlias, and there's a pergola and ample seating. There are a few uneven steps, but it's mostly smooth and level gravel paths. The giant cactuses are well worth a look, and children will love spotting the "wild animals" in the tropical palm house! The museum has four floors with quite a lot of rooms, but there are wheelchair ramps and a lift. Some fine paintings - I especially liked the landscapes - and sculptures displayed in spacious galleries. The exhibition of automatons was fun, and I enjoyed eavesdropping on the dinner conversation in the Regency dining room. But best of all was the 800 year timeline that tells the abbey's eventful story through printed info, artefacts, interactive displays, touchscreens, and dressing up in period clothes. The little café only appeared to be serving drinks and biscuits at the time I visited, but there were some picnic tables in the grounds, and also a nice gift shop. Torre Abbey is well worth a visit, and it's only a short walk from the seafront.

Lovely peaceful walk and picnic spot away from the buzz of the beach. There is a nice tea shop selling ice cream and cakes. There are plenty of benches and seating areas.

We visit this lovely area caught in time with it's thatched cottages often, and I would recommend you take a look. It has chocolate box charm. Interesting walks where we spotted a kingfisher bird. Places to eat, and craft shops with people working in them, so it makes it interesting.A beautiful rose garden to sit and relax inside, as it has a walled garden.

Beautiful grounds, the wedding area we were in needed some works doing to tidy it up a bit. But it was a lovely ceremony and great location for photos if the weather allows

Absolutely gorgeous place, set within a beautiful country park, walkable from Torquay sea front. Lots to see and do with lovely craft shops and demonstrations and plenty of eating facilities.

An interesting place with a number of arts and crafts type outlets, unfortunately many closed during our visit. The grounds are very well kept and a joy to walk around, the church is worth a visit also.

Loved our visit here. Beautiful grounds, teas rooms, pub, cafe and manor house. Craft shops are worth a visit especially the glass blowing studio. Lots of pay and display parking. No entrance fee.
Jane S — Google review
Beautiful setting with very well kept grounds. Wonderful specimen trees, especially the magnolias at this time of year. There was a fantastic sense of the history of the place. A choice of places for refreshments, although we didn't try any this time. The number of craft outlets seemed reduced and it was a shame the toilets in the car park were locked so there were only facilities for customers of the eating establishments

Great area to take toddlers and young children too, can be very busy during the summer but when the fair is in town it's to be expected, not bad for the adults either if you want to play about as well 😉

Harbour Light in Paignton is a charming rustic tavern with a terrace that provides stunning views of the bay. Whether you're basking in the sunshine on the outdoor terrace or enjoying the warmth of the log fire during colder months, this restaurant offers a relaxing atmosphere to savor delicious pub classics with a modern twist. The menu features seasonal specials and delectable desserts, all made with fresh ingredients. Additionally, they offer gluten-free options and excellent service.
Had lunch here on our last day in Paignton before heading back home. It was great! The best things about this restaurant are the food and the vibe, as well as the view. You need to come here hungry as the food portion is very substantial. My husband ordered the Sunday roast -- delicious! The Yorkshire pudding is huge! Lovely ingredients. I ordered the fish and chips. Not only are the portions big, it was cooked to perfection! You can never go wrong ordering their signature dishes. If you book ahead you can request for a table with a beautiful view of the bay. Highly recommended.

It's a beautiful pub right on the Harbour in Paignton. Wonderful views from upstairs. Unfortunately, you can not take your dog upstairs , but do allow dogs downstairs.. The staff were really friendly, which is a big bonus.. The only reason I gave it a 4 star was that I found my dish to be a little bit salty. I don't know if it was the fish or the sauce, and I would have liked a bit of greenery , like baby broccoli on the side. That will not put me off, and we will definitely visit again.
Marina K — Google review
Visiting the area on holiday with a friend who lives close by, stopped yesterday for a drink, as it turned out to be a beautiful afternoon. A good few choices of alcohol free lagers/IPA's as I was driving, and plenty more that did have! Staff, the atmosphere, and the setting made us want to come back, so we booked a table for the Sunday roast today. What an excellent choice it turned out to be. My friend was using a wheelchair and the access is unbelievably considerate. There is a lift to take you on the top floor so you can still enjoy a fantastic view whilst eating. Everything we had was beautiful, cooked and presented and so very tasty. Thank you to all. Will definitely be back again.

Great location overlooking the harbour with plenty of seats and tables to enjoy the view. It was good to have waitress service outside, more relaxing than having to order at the bar. Food was very good and wait wasn't too long. This was our first visit. Was very pleased to find this little gem and will be coming back for more.

My wife and I visited over the Bank Holiday Weekend and had a wonderful meal. The staff were great, and our dog was made to feel very welcome with a water bowl and blanket to lay on. The food was fantastic too, I would highly recommend a visit here.

Lovely gastro pub, great views/ location, and the food is delicious. Our party of 7 ordered different seafood dishes and every person was left so happy - the fish & chips were good and the seafood platter was good value. However the star of the show for me was the sea bass Thai cold noodle dish. Absolutely phenomenal. Light and perfectly cooked. Well priced spot for such brilliant (and generously portioned) dishes and it’s got a wonderful atmosphere with all the fairy lights. Only thing it’s is not the most extensive vegetarian selection (2 dishes on the menu), but expected by the coast. Service perhaps wasn’t the most personable but was quick. Will be back :)

The restaurant is lovely decorated, it all locked nice and clean and loved the vibes! Staff was friendly (specially the guy with moustache who brought us the drinks, always with a smile on his face!). Food was nery nice, we ordered the catch of the day and it was very tasty and well presented. We went with a dog and they had water and treats for them and we could sit inside or outside so great to have the choice speciallt because the weather wasn't the best! Price was very decent given the quality of the food. Woudl definitely recommend!!

Amazing food one of the best I have ever had!! fab service and cannot wait for our next visit! All the staff are very attentive and so welcoming. Chef came out and had a little chat with us and gave us some great advice on the different dishes he creates. He seems to really care about his customers and is very passionate about the food he serves. Well deserved 10 out of 10 from us, thank you so much. Alan & Andrea - Stoke on Trent

Gurkhas Diner in Paignton is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, Sanjay and the entire team made us feel incredibly welcome and truly special. Their warmth and genuine hospitality created such a memorable experience, and it’s clear they put their heart into everything they do. The food was simply outstanding – full of rich, authentic flavours and beautifully presented. The garlic chilli paneer was bursting with bold, spicy goodness, and the karahi chicken was perfectly cooked with just the right balance of heat and depth. You can really taste the care and expertise in every bite. A huge thank you to Sanjay and the team for such a wonderful evening. We’ll definitely be back, and wholeheartedly recommend Gurkhas Diner to anyone looking for amazing food and heartfelt service. Keep up the great cooking – you’ve created something truly special!

This restaurant is excellent. I was skeptical when I saw the numerous positive reviews, but since trying the restaurant, I can see why it’s so well received. It’s not often you come to a restaurant where both the food and the service is truly excellent, but this place has managed to do it. The waiter, who I assume is the owner, is attentive, kind and funny. He never feels imposing whilst attending to you. The chef came out and asked if there was anything on the menu he could explain in greater detail, and the younger servers were kind, smiley and attentive. Whilst the food is your standard eastern affair, it was cooked well, tasted excellent and we left satisfied by portion size and taste. My partner even said the naan was some of the best she’s ever had. In conclusion, these guys are excellent and I well recommend you come and find out for yourself. You will be met with open arms and leave with full belly’s. We will be back again. Thank you for the wonderful evening.

We’ve been coming to the diner for almost 10 years and it has always been consistently amazing. The only one downfall is that it isn’t closer to home in Blackpool for us so we can visit more often than once a year. Going to try and squeeze in one more visit before we go home. As a party of 5 we all had something different and each dish was just perfect. You have to try this at least once on your visit to Paignton. Staff are so friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Menu is varied and you’ll be dying to go back to try something else. Will definitely be back next year to visit again in the new premises a short distance away without fail! As google won’t allow you to add a second review I’ll edit this one for my most recent visit. Was so excited to visit the new premises and was not left disappointed. Its new location stands out in the middle of town and looks very inviting. So nice to be greeted by familiar faces and meet new ones. The atmosphere inside was so welcoming with lots of murals of Nepal. The food was, as expected, 10/10. I’ve never been disappointed in the almost 10 years we have been visiting, having takeaways at first when on holiday to dining in. After the obligatory poppadoms and mixed pickle tray, husband and I had the Passanda with boiled rice, Nepalese Goat Curry with coconut rice and shared a keema naan, and all dishes were out of this world. Both husband and son love this coconut rice and haven’t found anywhere that creates anything close to how good it is. Portions sizes are super generous, super delicious and you can just tell they are freshly cooked with fresh ingredients. (Just check out and follow their social media for proof). Three pieces advice for visiting here 1) Book a table in advance. We visited mid-week and the restaurant was full, and have booked for our next trip to Paignton in summer already. 2) if you’re not sure what to have, ask for a recommendation; these guys know what they’re talking about. And finally, 3) did I mention to book! So nice to see the chef and Sanjay again and so happy the restaurant is doing so well. It is very deserved and as long as it is busy, it will stay open for all my future visits for years to come. Thanks to the expanding team for a super evening, where nothing was too much trouble. The only disappointing thing is that is it not closer to home so we can visit more often. See you in July…..

Everything was wonderful. Great friendly service, nice ambience and decor. The food was delicious. Tandoori half chicken was moist and succulent and wonderful spiced. Momo dumplings looked homemade and were perfect. Would recommend and I am fussy but I honestly couldn’t fault it.

What an absolute treasure of a restaurant in Paignton! They have moved to a larger premises, but have lost nothing about what made the smaller restaurant special. The restaurant is run by Nepalese people, and got an enormous seal of approval from my Nepalese companion. Food is genuinely authentic, and truly delicious. Portions are ample and prices are very reasonable. They also have a menu section familiar to British Indian restaurants, so all expected curry dishes are available. I've no doubt that they'd do a fantastic tikka masala, korma, madras, etc. But it's more fun to get the Nepalese special dishes. The choice is almost overwhelming! We've visited three times, and have loved everything that we tried. The goat curry is sensational, being slow cooked and bursting with flavour. The staff are delightful, and completely committed to customer service. You cannot miss out on this restaurant when in Paignton - be sure to make a booking to ensure that you do not.

We visit this restaurant at least once a year when we are in Devon. The food is tasty and plentiful. Max is very attentive making sure you always have a glass of something topped up and warm bread on the table. You are not rushed whilst dining here and you can spend as little or as long as you like eating your meal. The food is freshly prepared and as such takes a little while to arrive between courses which I like because it gives you a little breathing space. Always a great experience. Book in advance to avoid being disappointed

This is hands down the best Indian type food I have experienced. Not sure why necessarily . I've tried 3 different dishes from mild to ridiculously hot and they were exceptional, the meat was very good quality The girl working there didn't seem to speak English which seemed a bit strange if you're taking the orders? It's a nice, small place on Winner Street. I only go there for collection but it's always packed which speaks for itself.

Clearly a great ethos in terms of protecting the environment. We saw lots of hares, which was a bonus. In my experience, Membership is Impossible to cancel! You can't cancel at the club. You must ring a special number and listen to the worst brain pain music that eventually stops after 25 mins or so and nothing....call again... Groundhog Day! No recourse. I am paying £47 a month for something I haven't used for 7 months since my dog got sick. £47 includes the 'private online doctor' I couldn't register with, even with help from IT. Booking classes 14 days in advance was a sell, but turns out it's rare you can't get into a class on the day. Riviera gym is great, If you can't get there and don't want to leave in a hurry.

The pool is great for children, you walk in with it gradually getting deeper like you are walking into the sea (especially when wave machine is on). There are water fountain stations which my baby loved watching spurt and tip out water at different speeds. There’s an assault course for rubber ducks and a pirate ship theme in a separate section to the main pool, and a further waterfall around a mini pool. There’s a water slide too but I don’t think this is always functional. It’s fantastic for kids. Reception staff were very helpful giving advice on membership etc. The down sides were the changing rooms - there is nowhere to get dressed with privacy as there are only single changing rooms with a curtain, no family size changing rooms to put your baby down safely while you dress. It would be a squeeze to be in there with an older child too let alone more than one child. Nappy bins need emptying. The water was supposed to be 31 degrees but was very cold so must have not been heated to the correct temperature. Unfortunately parking adds quite an additional cost and drinks are basic but expensive in the cafe. There is no accessible toilet apart from upstairs very far from the pool. Nowhere for you to go to the toilet and put your baby down or bring in the pram as toilets are too small. There is also a gym, conference rooms and cafe on site.

I was there on a guest pass the changing cubicles have curtains that give some privacy but hanging off the rail . The steam room looked like a crime scene because 25% of the seats were broken and yellow tape was on seats informing clients not to sit on them as they were broken. Staff young but lack communication skills

Lovely centre and staff, just unfortunately the parking system was not updated in the best way. The signage for "Members Parking" was still showing, I took our two young daughters for their once a week swimming lessons. As a member parking was free if parked in the members area. I was surprised to receive 3 X £70 parking fines in one letter, some 3 weeks later. I wrote to Smart Parking giving them my Membership number, they denied the Appeal. I wrote again to POPLA with more supporting evidence of Signs Clearly showing "Members Parking Area". (see photo's) They refused to look at the appeal as it wasn't on their own appeal forms. (It was a typed letter). I sent it back saying on their appeal forms "see attached letter", this time they wouldn't look at the appeal and wrote back to say claim was out of the appeal date period. (It wasn't). After a flood of letters, and subsequent threating letters from 2 different Dept Collection Agencies over a three year period. I now have an upcoming court summons, which I fully intend to vigorously defend. How can a local leisure Centre Member, working for Torbay NHS, just trying to teach her young children the life skill of swimming, parked in a Members Area parking, which was free parking for Members. With clear Photo's of the Parking Area be harassed for over three years by Smart Parking, the parking providers for Riviera International Centre. I am sure I can't be the only one in this situation as the implementation of the ANPR parking system was far from clear. (There were not notices as you walk from the members free parking area into the Centres' reception area, see photographs). I would welcome any response from the Centres Management staff, as to why their members are subjected to this aggressive treatment from their chosen Parking Providers.

Warning you need to pay for the car park!! No problem with the facilities but the car park has a managed privately. Something I missed as I ran in late to play pickle ball with a friend.
Jayne F — Google review
Upon initiating membership cancellation, I understand that an additional month's payment is required. My inquiry to a staff member regarding this matter was met with a reference to the terms and conditions. It is also important to note that this requirement was not communicated during the initial onboarding process. Consequently, the obligation to pay for an extra month is perceived as unfavorable

Swimming pool and play facilities for the little ones absolutely great. Plenty of lifeguards too, great. Changing rooms are disgusting and in need of a revamp! I think paying for the parking too is absolutely disgusting, when you've jyst paid a whopping £7 to bleddy swim for 1 poxy hour.

We went last week and safe to say we won’t be returning again which is a shame as the swimming pool it’s self we quite good bit cold but lots for kids to do,but the let down was the changing rooms, no family changing rooms so had to change separately and the changing rooms were awful, they weren’t clean and you had to change in front of everyone else.

White Rock Beefeater

Steak house
White Rock Beefeater is a steak house with locations throughout the UK. The restaurants are popular for their grilled meats and international favourites such as fajitas. The service is fast and attentive, and the menus are consistent across locations. There is no Mocha on the menu, which was strange given that they have coffee and chocolate options. However, meals were well cooked overall.
Another great meal. All fresh. Service was ok. Waiting around a bit but we didn't care.

Not the best food in the area. Fish and chips were very disappointing and the atmosphere was dull. The batter on the fish was so soggy and bland I had to leave it.

It's a good place to eat and relax. Comfortable seating for any size group, good food and friendly staff.

We visited here during our stay at the Premier Inn. It's very well managed with excellent staff. Emma S our waiter and Saffron, on Breakfast deserve a special mention. Food was first rate service was excellent. It's very popular with locals and guest alike and you could understand why. Would highly recommend a visit.

I had an excellent experience at White Rock Beefeater on Long Road South, thanks to Jenna’s amazing customer service. She was incredibly helpful, attentive, and made my visit truly enjoyable. Her fantastic support stood out, and I highly recommend her. Thank you, Jenna!

Food looked amazing and the tables were clean. However the outside area had rubbish lying around and ashtrays were full and glasses on the tables. Nice view of the traffic lights from the beer garden. Not much of a view for the diners inside as hedges were overgrown. Handy being next to the premier inn that has electric points for charging vehicles. Ideal if working in the area as close to Paignton and Torquay.

Busy, being Fathers Day but a much shorter wait for my meal than I expected. Obviously cooked fresh because it hot, especially the chips (Chargrilled chicken melt, chips and salad) and the dessert (Apples & blackberry crumble) really tasty. Only 4 stars for food because I ordered ice cream with the crumble and was served custard!

Granddaughters treat for a school award. Last minute so hadn't booked. We were seated straight away and attentively served by Emma. Food was served nice and hot and tasty.

Excellent food, service and atmosphere at this popular eatery. Staff are attentive and dietary needs of individuals are well met. The restaurant is well-situated for visitors to Goodrington Sands and offers plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. A family run business, you can be sure to have a good meal here.

A fantastic spot for food or drinks by the sea! It’s always a positive bustling atmosphere in here. They serve freshly prepared delicious food which is always beautifully presented, cakes, drinks alcoholic and coffees and soft drinks. Sometimes they have live music too. You can sit in, or out in the sunshine or under cover. It’s dog friendly and child friendly. They don’t do as many vegan options as they used to (I wish they’d bring back the aubergine fish fingers from years ago!!!) but there are still some options and they do vegan cheese so can swap some stuff out. 20p from all pizzas goes to the Wave project, and they’re super fresh yummy pizzas!! Edit: Reduction of a star as actually service is inconsistent - some staff fantastic but when we went back again one of them was very rude. Friends told me the staff have been rude to them when they’ve been here too, though it was the first time I’d experienced it myself.

Beach day at goodrington and walked a few minutes to this amazing restaurant, indoor and big outdoor seating. Specials menu with whole sardines and feta salad which just sold out! But looked and smelt amazing. We had a great lunch, a selection of small plates. Pork belly, king prawn tacos, humous and breads and incredible fritters. The kids had sausages and chips. The food is delicious! quick QR order to table, and food was fast and fresh. I can’t wait to fit in another trip this week. The only thing I could say… to do a kids menu for ease of ordering. Attention to detail was spot on, will be back!
Holly D — Google review
This place was fab. The food is really nice and the love music schedule is also a lovely bonus. The atmosphere is very chill with friendly, prompt service and at table ordering, fun decor and lovely touches like blankets and sun cream for people and towels for soggy doggies. We are their twice on our holiday.

Not overly impressed on my first visit with family today! Food wasn’t anything special, no greetings from staff. Didn’t get told where cutlery or sauces etc were, staff didn’t even say when delivering food to the table. Overly disappointed as I thought it would be a good place to eat from reviews.
Lydia H — Google review
Came for breakfast with my parents, son and dog. Staff were very friendly, interacting with my son and making him laugh. We loved all the small details, especially the kids plates and cutlery! A guy staff member also brought my son a flake of which he devoured! Drinks and food, although expensive, was amazing, and my smoothie bowl was delicious and beautiful! We will be returning 100%.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ One of my favorite places in Paignton! Pet and family-friendly, which makes it perfect for everyone. 🐾👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 It’s just a short walk from the beach ⛱️, so great for a relaxing meal after a day by the sea. The food is excellent – the burger was absolutely delicious 🍔, cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!

The Local is a Gastropub and Grill in Paignton that offers creative, fresh, and ever-changing food. With 30 years of cooking experience all over the world, Andy founded The Local in 2018.
Found this place after reading reviews. Wow, the whole experience was brilliant. The staff were welcoming and friendly, made us feel very comfortable. The meal itself was the best we've had in many a day. We had the BBQ sharing platter. Every single piece of meat was cooked to perfection and the presentation was haw dropping. Next time we're back that way, we'll be going back. Thanks for a fabulous gastronomic experience.

So good we came two nights in a row! I cannot rave about the local enough. Not only is the food delicious with options for the whole family, the staff are beyond attentive. Andie and Jaimie in the kitchen are far too talented that I want to live in the food. Steve the server is so much more than that. My partner and I came in a little before 8pm and he had not only remembered the drinks we'd had the night before but also had written a lovely reservation sign for us. He lights up the place. I would make this your number 1 place to eat when in Paignton.

We went with friends and our dog and couldn’t feel more welcomed. Water bowl & treats provided! The selection of food was great. I had the sea bass and it was absolutely delicious. All 5 of us enjoyed our meals. Why have I not been here before? All so friendly and making sure all was ok. We will be coming back as we’ve found. Very clean and just a lovely place to eat and drink!

Beautiful Sunday roast and all the trimmings. Our table was stacked with bowls of cauliflower cheese and lovely fresh veg. Definitely one of the best roasts I've ever eaten out. My pork belly which can be slightly difficult to get right, was amazingly tender and tasty. Super and exciting options on the menu, I want to come back here! I can't get the vision of the bbq sharing platter being walked through the restaurant, out of my mind.. stunning and enormous! Really lovely very personal and attentive service by experienced waiting staff. On my list to return!

We came here spoke to people outside who said the food was amazing. So we thought we would have our first night's meal here and wow! The food is amazing, friendly staff and great service. We will be back there this evening. Cannot wait to try their Sirloin steak. Recommend the muscles and lamb steak absolutely delicious little gem of a place

Our last sample of the food experience in Paignton over a few days and this one was pretty impressive. The chef knows how to cook a Steak and according to the misses the Lamb Chomp was pretty exceptional as well. Good service, Dog friendly and great food. You should give them a go when you're next there.
Kris C — Google review
Really friendly service and nice atmosphere, the place filled up quickly on a Tuesday evening. Burgers looked great but not 100% convinced. Would probably try the steak as they looked great on other tables. Also could do with a bigger selection of beers as there was just a choice of two.

My partner and i came here for dinner at 20:00 on a Friday evening. The staff were all amazing, really accommodating. The service was impeccable and the food was incredible. The restaurant is dog friendly, and our german shepard puppy was really well received. We chose to sit on the outdoor balcony, and after an issue with a seagull the staff replaced our starter without charge and put up a large pub umbrella to protect us. The locally caught seabass was incredible, and the burgers are definitely suited for larger appetites like mine. Reasonably priced, friendly and accommodating, absolute 12/10 would visit again.

Exeter Airport

Domestic airport
Exeter Airport is a refreshing alternative to the hustle and bustle of larger international airports. Travelers appreciate the efficient handling of a large volume of people, making it a joy to arrive and depart from this airport. The recent addition of a NESPRESSO coffee machine has impressed frequent flyers, offering high-quality coffee that stands out among typical airport fare. While some areas are currently closed, the airport's friendly staff and quick security process make for a pleasant experience.
I have no complaints about this airport. After flying from all the London airports, Bristol, and Manchester, Exeter was great. It was small, not too busy, easy to get around, clean, and the executive lounge was nice. Parking was easy, everything was stress free 👍
Matthew T — Google review
No shuttle bus from car park. Staff seem to take particular delight in harassing female passengers, comments made about size of makeup bag and told to "get rid of the cheap stuff". My uncle was Chief ATC here in the 1970s, embarrassed to be flying from this anti diluvian airport. Other staff in Duty Free helpful and without actually voicing it, seem embarrassed by the state of the place and how it is run.
Suz M — Google review
Not impressed by my treatment at security when flying from this airport to Edinburgh. Had what I would consider to be an overzealous body search. Not experienced one like it in all my years of flying. No problems going through security at Edinburgh. Yet here I apparently had '"alot of metal on my person" I have a titanium hip replacement which is never a problem elsewhere (scanners need an update?). My jumper was lifted at the back ( being female, there are metal hooks on my bra) I don't know what else she expected to find. Also hand was placed under the waistband of my trousers. I was told this was going to happen but I wasn't happy. Paddles up and down both legs, inside and out. Told to stand against the wall to remove my shoes. They haven't changed the liquid restrictions at this airport as in Glasgow and Edinburgh so I hadn't remembered to put everything in the the small plastic bag and my luggage was rescanned. Part of that was my fault, but maybe it's time to catch up with other airports as regards this. I had a lovely stay in Devon with everyone being helpful and friendly but this left a sour taste.

Car park 4 …… tiny parking spaces if you treasure your car, don’t use this car park No shuttle bus to main airport and it’s a good 10 to 15 minute walk , not fun when you’ve got cases to drag late at night in the rain, especially if you’ve got mobility problems The rose wine that I’ve got was absolutely disgusting. It would’ve made better drain cleaner !!! and no draft Beer or larger I’m still quite baffled about how we got to be rated one of the best in the UK
Veronica T — Google review
Great little airport with very small terminal, so easy to get around. Not great if it’s raining when you return as you often end up outside getting rather wet but otherwise makes travelling abroad from Devon and Cornwall more accessible rather than having to travel to Bristol or Cardiff.
Kerry G — Google review
Like most UK airports Exeter has decided to fleece its visitors drivers with a £5 drop off fee. It's not like there's a rail or decent bus alternative. Being tiny, most people of course arrange to be collected on the road, no one is going to pay £5 to walk 100 metres, so there is chaos on the nearby roads and local business' driveways. There is a free facility further down the road but this isn't properly promoted. Once inside, small is beautiful. The departure lounge is perfect although they could use some more seating at the gate. Arrivals is disastrous. We arrived just after another flight, so that's just two planes offloading and we have to queue outside in the cold and rain for immigration, all very third world. There were three staff operating border control which was a good effort, the infrastructure is just too small. All the staff I encountered were nice and efficient.
Paul S — Google review
All was fine ,walking from plane to Airport building. Then a 40 min wait, standing in a corridor, to go through passport control. 3 border officials on duty, fine. No where to lean in the corridor and people desperate for the loo !! 15 min wait before the luggage carousel started rolling. All in all tolerable experience. Convenience of flying from/to Exeter far out ways the wait, but it would be even better without !!
Avril W — Google review
Tiny airport with only a few flights a day Very easy check in, nobody in the queue. Security was a breeze with more staff there than passengers! When you're used to the bigger airports its a really nice change. Would definitely use again. Drop off is £5 for 30 min or free if you walk a few minutes
